frist
where are you pug? time zone?
sorry
mid west Indiana--its 2:07 am
ah, that's late - when I visit sons in Toronto, I seldom get to start the grid until the next day
only 4:08 pm here
but you're in our Tomorrow already diz
me too. I worked nights for nearly 38 years; have been on "day" shifts since2008 and I still love the night quiet. The weird thing is that now that I'm sort of re****d; I'm waking early and staying up late (and wanting naps during the day!)
I think reiron should be a word--
agree, do that a bit
me too---and I say 'got to reiron that'
ah, dear grandson is skyping me, bbl

took a while to find that fr8, another oddie
but it gave me 3 words, thanks
Hi Flosey - I took your excellent advice and joined Lumosity. It's Great! Thanks!
whatis Lumosity? plz
IT IS A BRAIN IMPROVEMENT TRAINING (whoops sorry ) course and has real scientific basis, not the self-help junk you see everywhere. If you Google Lumosiy, their site explains it well. Flosey knows more - she's been doing it for years. Helps stave off dementia etc.
ty saanich, will definately check it out.
how is nicoise not a word here
Flosey must be deep in the grid! Youare welcome dizgrannie
Hi Saanichcat lol, was off doing Lumosity - bad time of day to do it!
it is great diz, enjoy if often - but there are some tests that are very difficult for me
should do it earlier in the day, when brain is a little more alert
it can be very frustrating at times too, but, if I lose my drivers licence over memory loss, I'll really be in a bind, we need a car on the island and hate to have to be driven everywhere
hubby is pretty good about it though
there are 3 steps to the drivers testing when you reach 80 - first doctor's test for memory and related issues, then, failing that, there's a computer test, failing that, a road test off island
good luck with the DL thing Flosey. I can't imagine you not passing it!
I did check in with the drivers' ed here on the Island, he took me around - roads I didn't know existed here, and told me I was a good driver - bolstered my ego a bit which is desperately needed at that point
I have seen the computer set-ups and elderly folks' reaction to them- completely overwhelmed and intimidated - adding to their anxiousness etc. Not fair at all to relay on strange machinery.
of course, our island is all up and down, winding, etc so am comfortable with it
there is a bit of controversy over that computer test - may be doing away with it
good.
lots of seniors don't use computers so they are uncomfortable to start with
anyway, have 2 more months before facing it a second time
That's what I was getting at earlier
Good after a healthy summer and not in the middle of the winter!
yes, saanichcat, my brother, 2 years older will not get one - do love to receive his hand written letters
he's in Toronto
anyway, on with the grid, 104 to go still
I wouldn't drive in Toronto even 30 years ago!
yup, me too. See you tomorrow at flip.
I drove from north of TO to the waterfront every day, nothing bothered me then, we moved west when I was 29 then went back, 5 years later 30 more years and nothing fazed me then
now, after being here for a while, I will not drive back there at all,
good night Saanichcat, I'll be here tomorrow night
nite Flosey, sleep well, get nicely tucked in.
thanks, and you
gooooooooooood morning fellow babblers xxx would someone let me know how many words today please? xxx

Add the Loch monster to what you press clothes with
ty,Molls
co8 babys bed & a wedding cake can have many of these
oooohhhh, I love to press clothes
thanks Molly and Lynxxx
thanks Molly and lynxxx
I hate to press clothes. will send all of our clothes to you, Momn :)
will gladly do them, Peri
wish we lived closer
love Mondays .... that is ironing day
I am not getting that clue, lyn
Peri, if we lived closer neither of us would get any pressing done.
you are probably right, Mom
after the initial pressing word, I have gotten 4 more
Peri, not a bed but a co* + wedding cakes have ti 4/4 + plural instead of layers
ty lyn and Mom
:-)

hi rose
going to take a break
hey annie, cul8r
hi all
howdy,mael
hey mael
hi crossy, granny :)
how are your new glasses, crossy?
ooohhh!!! crossy, my almost my main man....(don is my my main man)
2 week prep time from yesterday
((granny))
{{{crossy}}}...new glasses??? getting a tad older are we???
one of my eyes is 20/20 and the other needs a bit for reading.also it seems one eye is tad lazy and my eye also operate independantly of each other..i had no idea
so,it is no wonder 3d movies never worked for me
not older,distinguished
haha
lol, poor crossy!
as in, "can now distinguish words on the page?" ;)
yeah, i noticed the grey streaks at the temples....*giggle*
lol, well, needing readers only, that i can live with as well as my other eye quirks
Yes, as we know, crossy, as men age they become distinguished....women become hags.....not fair.
rofl, mimi...can so relate to that
you all look beautiful to crossy
Sorry, really feeling the age discrimination thing this week. Ahhh--crossy, this is one reason you are beloved.
my son however test extremely far sighted, explains the headaches
health plan covered everything but 8 dollars for both pairs(crossy hugs his provincial health care card)
you lucky canadian man, you
well,we do pay,but just at tax time instead of to insurance companies.that way you know you are always covered, working or not
boy do we pay.4 taxes on gasoline hehe
We really need to get it together in this country as far as healthcare. In Arizona I can't even get Medicaid because they changed the law and you can only qualify if you have children at home.....how stupid is that!
We are penalized in many ways for getting older.
our gasoline this moring is $1.15 per litre.just multiply that by 3.78 for the american gallon and you will see how we get the money lol
back....crossy so needs new glasses if we all look okay to him.
3 taxes on propane, home heating fuel etc
lol,granny
I'm from Italy, I really miss universal healthcare
I'm self employed, figuring out health insurance for my husband and I is a disaster
crazy sin taxes on booze, smokes etc.not that i smoke anymore.do not know how they can pay 11 dollars for a pack of lung darts
Well, granny, we look good because we CAN'T be seen! But crossy sees our beautiful spirits, I think.
i am sure you do mael especially since you had it before and can compare
just realised...have been at this grid for 2 hours....AND I STILL HAVE 9 TO GO....waaahhh
hahaha, if I could get to the end of most grids in 2 hours I'd be a much more productive person
indeed mini remember you have a body but you ARE a soul
awwww, mimi, such a lovely thought...but no it relly doesn't wash over here. *giggle*
Hey, granny, I've been working on it since the flip, off and on, and still have 199 to go.......I really suck at this game.
Oh, come on, granny----let it wash!
mimi, but your wonderful joi de vive comes through...that's more important to me, hun
Thank you, dear....so kind.
i find that if i cannot get to half way in lets say 2 hours or so,i know i will not finish the grid
mimi, my last patient was a chronic pain patient. his pain consultant was supposed to set up a pain management program, post-op....guess what? surprise, surprise!! no pla...and the so-and-so didn't even answer his page, when i sent it out.
I never finish, crossy. Just glad I have no goal to do so...just enjoy what I do get and let it go. Mostly here for the wonderful company.
indeed.first year or so,i used to panic about finishing but no longer
I just got over halfway now, uff
call me obsessive if you like...i soooo love this game, i just have to finish...
my babble 5th anniversary is coming up in june:))
I started about a year ago, it really helps me relax in the morning
Granny, don't even get me started on the way pain is mismanaged. I had chronic pain for years...nightmare. Over it now, though...two back surgeries and years later it kind of resolved itself---tell me there is no God!
i started it to try and hone an edge on what is left of my mind:)
i am also addicted (obsessed) with the game and with finishing - but also enjoy the chat
oh, dear, crossy....that bad, mate???
no,not as bad as all that but the cisplatin had some nasty side effects up and above the numb hands and feet
I so appreciate my Babble friends....the grid itself is really secondary to me.
Morning dears
howdy,hego
mimi...not going to do that sweetie. it really is just a matter of persisting...me??? i googled...and found what helps me there.
soir
oir
hi Crossy
hey hego and wv
I always try that, teach :)
Yes, crossy, medication is both a blessing and a curse. The meds they put me on after my heart attack were worse than the actual attack.
ty Teach
{hego}
hey magzel
i saw yesterday that they finally killed off msn messanger and it is all now intergrated with skype.i was expecting that for last 6 months
And did you see that hotmail basically no longer exists...changed over somehow.
i try to think on the bright side of it all, mimi.yes my nerves in my feet are buggered, but now i can no loger feel the pain of my ingrown toenail lol
yup.all done through skype
make sure it doesn't get infected Crossy.
it is almost exactly like diabetic nerve pain
I'm still on a medication that gives me vertigo. But they originally had me on 8 meds and now am down to 3...progress.
yuppers,i stay on it,hego
you will get there,mimi
crossy, well that's a blessing, in one way. me? fibromyalgia has decided i need to fell like i am walking on nails/drawing pins. for goodness sake! give me a break!
and happy birthday to you.
ouch! poor granny:((
yay, mimi. well done, sweetie
yes, growing older is a real gas.
we will have to all get together,i will bring a bunch of vodka and we can all compare scars :))
i have a brand new wowser of a scar.
I may win that one, crossy---have had 12 surgeries! You'll need to bring LOTS of vodka!
lolol
crossy, look out in about 4 years...i plan to invade your area in a major way.
hehe,i have a special on on my leg that usually wins me the contest.the lenght to beat is 2 feet,4 and one half inches
When I say I hate getting old people always say it's better than the alternative to which I reply "How do you know?" That stops 'em.
oh oh,aussie invasion!!!
well, any day on this side of the dirt is a good day
What's happening in 4 years, granny?
good one Mimi
grannyrose how did you know I was playing?
yup, and i'm gonna bring lizlin, mrp, andree, herin, diz, anika...and anyone else i can find...lol
Oooooh...I want to be there for that gathering!
mag...saw your chog at 0859, hun
Actually, I'd love to see Australia and New Zealand....maybe one day...you never know~
New Zealand for me
ruru!!
RURU!!! HELLO

You know I adore Napa, ruru.....would love to come for a visit.
by yourself?
do you need hotel recommendations too?
No with hubby, always. lol
i will be happy to help
oh good.
Yes a hotel would be helpful.
I see you have been guiding Jilly around SF.
We'll keep you loaded for your whole trip :D
I'm planning to relocate to somewhere around Berkeley in the future....cannot wait.
yay Mimi.
Yes..we had a wonderful time. Jilli is a fabulous person
An admirable plan Ruru. i'm up for it.
Even though I've been gone a long time, I'm still a California gal at heart.
I have met her and she is awesome.
Berkeley is very different now mimi
great. I'm so glad I caught you.
i'll write on the weekend hego.. I have a long drive today
thank you again. no rush.
actually the hotels book up.. that's peak season.. you should line up one soon
I have a big list of hotels though
Everything is, ruru. I just want to be close enough to Carmel and Napa to visit often. My godson and his wife will be moving back when he finishes his PhD in D.C. and his mother (my best friend of 44 years) and I are planning to move there to be close to them.
good plan mimi
although I wouldn't say Carmel is close to Berkeley
Well, it's certainly closer than Phoenix! I so much miss driving up the coast....
that's for sure ..lol
bum bum bum BA da dum, bum bum bum BA da dum, bum bum bum ba da DUMMMMMM, ba dum deedee doo doo dum
I bet Phoenix is about to turn to hell right now
Hurshy is musical today.
um...good morning, hurshy
yes i yam
mornin
I told my kids when I die I want half my ashes scattered over Ouray, Colorado and the other half along the 17-mile drive in Carmel. That way, if they want to "visit" Mom, they get a nice vacation.
Have you ever tried scattering ashes?
It's not as easy as it sounds.
♪♪♪la la la to you, too, hurshy♪♪
not me.. but one of my favorite movie scenes is when John Goodman did it at the ocean in the Big LEbowski
You always end up with a little of whoever in your eyes.
A great movie.
oh dear
i guess you want to stand with a strong wind at your back
The dude abides.
That's OK, hego...my kids deserve to cry a bit!
breezes can be tricky.
Hi Molly
P's are being mean to me AGAIN, why do they always gotta do that
give them hell now mimi.. while you have time ;D
lol Mimi.
I always said one day I'd really get in their faces!
lmao
do any of you remember my anecdote re a man who died, and his widow decided to scatter his ashes in port philip bay?
i guess enable doesn't accept olives in french
Tell us, granny.
french olives?! i speet your french olives een your face
hello...can i have the stats on that center 'i', please?
hahahha
Oleeeves. That's how Jaques Pepin says it.
when they did so, 'elvis' the huge water chopper used for bush-fire fighting...descended at the same moment, and in the process of sucking up water also sucked up the man's ashes.
is5/10... ir6/21...
<---is in love with Jacques Pepin.
ty
I've said this before but will obviously say it again. I've decided Oprah had the right idea----never marry, never have kids, have great career, make lots of money and raise dogs.
Hi Phae
could he butter your bread hego?
Now you're talking ru's language, hego---Pepin is so excellent.
is 5 10
Oh gosh granny!
What's not to love Hego? He's rich and he can cook.
Don't know about hego, ru, but he could butter my anything!
but,if everyone raised dogs, then there would be no people after 100 years;))
He could butter anything he'd like Ruru. lol
Snap Mimi!!
i could use stats for the fourth row E
And your point, crossy?!!!
oop found one, et4/5
lol, hego....talk about ill-timed!!! was a tad embarrassing, to say the least
dogs would inherit the earth..would probably not be a bad thing
We're on the same page, hego!
but only the meek dogs :) lol
yes mimi
lol hursh
right hurshy
the other is et6 hurshy
hurshy, en 6/7, en + slave, and it's plural
ty granny
the other is et4/5
Well, crossy might get there...he's a meek wolf!
ah phae i see yours from the bottom
He'd no doubt have his own harem!
:-)
Well, gotta get going. Hego, keep us posted on your Napa plans...I would really love to make the trip and meet you and perhaps others as well. What a time we will have, thanks to ruru! Bye and hugs all around.
outtta here...it's half-past midnight!!! full day tomorrow!!! see you all at the flip! well, maybe not....love and hugs to all. over to you MollyL. lol

you are such a kind person
So I've been told.
there are liars everywhere
I think I'll join the rest in leaving you alone, BR. Have fun being acerbic all by yourself.
was not being acerbic
glad to see you go
Being a jerk is more like it
you are the jerk ... you deliberately offend people
Cease and desist!

you for years deliberately offended people
Much love and appreciation to ruru...now POOF!

anyone have a clue for the right bottom E - last tile I need for NBT
I have an et4.
a full day here, carpet bowling at 10 - 12, then home for quick lunch and off to play bridge for the afternoon, along with tea and sweets
sounds like fun flosey
et 6/18 is first from that tile
et6/18, sounds like beginning of forever - lop off last letter and change last vowel
thans flosey
yes river - plus the morning activity helps to keep me limber
yw
I must go - have a wonderful day everyone

I saw something amusing on my lunch hour.
hiya Judi
hi judi
sprite, you have a King instead of a Princess
what did you see?
What did you see, Judi
yes we do, bichon, a King and a Queen even. That is a lonnnnng time ago.
May they live a long life!
lol @ your icon, Judi
phantom: interior
I stopped at a local Chinese place to pick up my lunch. As I pulled up, a woman in the car next to me, jumped out of her car. She was wearing a rather posh looking full-length white terrycloth robe and slippers. She was going into the dry cleaners.
That is funny!
great start of a story! Go on :)
Well, that was about it. I was just amazed that she would even leave the house in that get-up, let alone go out in public. All I could think was, "can you not make at least some effort?"
Or the dry cleaner had the only clothing she owned
lol indeed... quite some courage that would take for me to go out like that!
I see women out in their pajama pants and slippers all the time these days. It's amazing how lazy people have gotten.
I was going to say the same thing, Molly.
My neighbor never gets dressed. She's out in her bathrobe all the time. Of course she has Alzheimers
se 6/18, please - need the first 2
really? I've never seen anyone do that here
(and hi everyone)
hiya Buggie
hello buggie
me neither. People don't do that here
ft
Well, anyone with Alzheimer's gets a pass. This chick was driving. All she needed was a turban, some big sunglasses and a pocket dog. Ridiculous.
It is only acceptable in America, I guess. Wal-Mart especially.
lol, I would laugh my socks off
nan...the only two se 6/18 I have contain double consonants with a different vowel in 5th place
lol, Bzzn. ESPECIALLY @ WalMart.
I refuse to shop there. I will go miles out of my way and pay twice as much.
haha, reminds me of a joke I saw on facebook (though I believe it was serious), some woman commenting about how relaxed a shop was, you didn't have to get all dressed up like you were going to walmart
lol
ty dispatch
I feel guilty if I go outside the house in sweatpants.
I wear grungy clothes a lot. More comfortable
I'm all for being comfortable, but one simply does not leave one's house wearing P-jay-jays.
lol@judi. thanks i need a good laugh, today is not going as i would like
lol...gotta go...sweatpants and a t-shirt :)
I remember the day when saw women wearing dresses and heels to the grocery store.
ec 6, please? - still no luck with that one!
Thanks, Dispatch..hello, Babblers :-)

america, land of the free. i am sure someone will soon sue for the right to walk around naked. and win.
no idea what the medical term is for morning sickness -- just remember it was darned miserable!
Again, we must look to Wal-Mart,TO.
They might as well walk around naked. They wear their pants hanging off their arse and their boobs flop out of their tops.
I though there was a part of San Francisco where you could go around naked?
and their bellies hang over their pants
is there another clue for the ec 6, please?
there might be. indecency used community standards
I'm calling it quits on this grid. See you kids tomorrow!

Quiet in here today. Hello all. :-)
psst, hi Soodle
don't want to wake anyone
Hello (((Hego))). Did I hear you are off on your travels again?
yup. Tuscany in May. yahoo!
Oh Lucky lucky you! (This IS May!!)
I leave the 11th.
and the wine will flow like, well, wine!
Whats your itinerary?
I will stay for 10 days in a town outside of Florence.
<-------very famuliar with the flowability of wine!
I have been there before and love the area.
lol
Famuliar????? Familiar! Lol
oh wow. what a great trip... sounds perfect
Hiya dorens
How was your 5 K?
I know you are a great lover of all things Italian. I'm very jealous!
Hi Dorens. :-)
hi hego. It was pretty amazing. never done one before and I'm not a runner... was happy to finish in under 45 minutes
You get around a bityourself, my girl.
That's great doren, glad you enjoyed it.
had beautiful weather..
gotta run. still at work. happy babbling
Soodle posts from all sorts of places, always on the move!
Not often enough, and not far enough, Hego!! Golly, Dorens done a 5K & she's still running!! I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
It was for the experience, I think. i'm happy just to walk at this point.
So, will your trip be a cultural gig, or a wine soaked booze-fest, or a combination, Hego?
Wine and food mostly.
Good Afternoon, Everyone! How are you on this rainy/snowy, cold, wet and damp day?
Will go to Florence once or twice to pretend to look at the art, etc.
Hello Nef. My goodness- snow??
Hi Nef. Our weather is springtime great now.
( am SICK of WINTER!! This year is really getting boring.
A woman after me own heart, Hego!!
hi all
you too Soods. : )
Is snow in May usual, Nef? Hi Mael. :-)
Hi Mael, it's safe to come back now, lol
our trees are just starting to bud out now; no flowers, and the grass has just started to "green up" since the last 4 inch snow on Monday.
Soodle - love your list of words for women to live by. Great!
No, Soodle. Today is (ahem) my b'day; and I love it when the Lily-of-the-valleys are in bloom
hi Mael
Hi Bojazz. They are my version of the 10 commandments. :-)
Happy birthday Dear Ne-ef.
Aw, Nef!! I hope you are having the happiest of birthdays!!
Happy Birthday to youuuuuu!
thanks, hego. I didn't mean to fish for that; but I usually have a small vase of flowers from the yard for today.
aw heck, my pleasure.
Ahhh, the Irish! They all got it goin' on...
true Bojazz
You better believe it, Bo!!!
Ireland would be no fun at all without them. lol
yesterday was our grandsons' 4th b'day and he's so sweet. He's been sick with a fever, diarrhea and vomiting this past week and he's much better now. But he came in and gave me a big hug and said "Thank you Geema for playing everyday with me!" (Of course, then I had to crawl around on the floor and play super heroes with him!)
LOL, so true, hego!
My flower too, Nef.... mine are just peeking their sprouts through.... cold spring !!!
yer a good gramma Nef.
Hi Diane!
I love their scent..... and Hello, everyone :-)
hi hego !!
i did a pansy border that looks fab!
thanks, but when that grandchild comes up and does that; you have no choice, right?
Right
hey, congrats, on your 5 years, diane (I don't remember reading that before)
I had to bring all of my pots inside to keep my pansies from freezing. :-(
in my profile ?? I just updated it the other day... it had said four, but five is even better !!! thanks, Nef.
Ours are in the ground now Nef. Night above 50.
WOOT- WOOT to diane!!! :-P to hego ;-)
Five years is the landmark diane.
Sorry nef. : )
Are you doing anything nice to celebrate your special day, Nef?
that is sort of how I look at it too ! I still have 4 months on the tamoxifen and then I WILL be happy !!
that's great diane! Best to you.
Thanks hego :-)
Diane, that is absolutely Wonderful. Yay!
I'd like to rest and play on the computer all day, Soodle; but DH is in a grumpy mood (and he doesn't know why); so I need to help him or else get him to take a nap so I can relax
Must go. Great to see all of you. Bye
see you again soon, hego... have a great remainder of the day !
That's great news! For some reason, my step mother has to be on it for life (either that or she mis-understood her doctor.
Hye hego! HAGD!!
Bye Hego. If I don't 'see' you before then......have a wonderful holiday!!
that was a BYE, hego
hi Soodle :-)
Nef! You tell DH that this is YOUR day!!
lol, it was a little horrible in chat for a while there earlier. Hi all again, sorry I spaced out reading the news
Hi mael
Soodle, I think he's grumpy because he's tired. I'm trying to talk him into a nap right now
Wow, mael; sorry to hear that. :-(
Hmmm. I had a look back over the chog, & there Was a bit of nastiness. :-(
it's alright, everything is better with the sunshine! :)
oh, dear. (Now I'll have to be nosey too)
'Grumpiness' must be in the air today!
it's probably the pollen count, soodle ;)
Lol! Do you work in the Diplomatic Corps, Mael? If not, you should consider it. :-)
At least DH may have an excuse. His legs were quite spastic last night and I was awakened with several sharp kicks (he was still asleep!). His M.S. has caused spasticity in his legs when he falls asleep; but this was something new.
I'm sorry nef, that sounds unpleasant for everyone. Is he feeling better?
Oh how horrible. I suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome, & its rotten!
he slept through his spasticity this AM; so I was the only one who got kicked.
Soodle, some people confuse RLS with spasticity. Either way; they're both pretty miserable-looking
(speaking as a nurse observer)
hi all
hi jmc! How are you today?
pretty good. . . only worked in the garden for 2 hours today. . .
weds was 4 hours and yesterday 2 1/2
your garden must be looking good then!
haha i wish. . . still more weeds than veggies. . .
hi jmc! I wish I had that much time to dedicate to the garden...
maybe tomorrow :)
tomorrow is okra day. . .
no mael. . . i would rather have a paying job. . .but at least i will eat this summer
where do you live, jmc? I barely have my peas breaking the ground here in MA
(I wish it was warm enough to Think about gardening!)
DC. . . too late to plant peas here
then I will hope for you to find a paying job that leaves you time to garden, jmc. Good luck. :)
thanks mael. . . .
BTW, jmc, Congrats on your graduating! (I don't remember if I've seen you since then)
ty nef. . .no i think we missed each other. ..
what is your degree in? (doctorate? or ???)
howdy my friends,is it safe to come back?:))
Hello Crossy. Theres been an outbreak of peace on Babble. Come on in........ :-)
yaaaa! ty, soodles!!:))
Rofl!
masters in conflict transformation.
WOW! THat sounds very impressive!
Hiya Jmc. :-)
see i how i transformed the conflict just by showing up ;-)
lol, poor ruru and i and several others can now lick our wounds and babble again:))
yes nef that and $10 will get you a cup of coffee
Truly, JMC is a conflict transforner!!!
*sprinkles fairie dust and lavender around the chog*
yaa for jmc! extra bacon for you!
LOL! It does sound like a necessary degree (at least in your job and --maybe here too?)
lavender is a calming smell. . . .
bacon is a calming smell for some people ;-)
lavendar IS very calming
Actually, really laughing out loud now!! JMC, you are a tonic!
puts me to sleep every time I use it...
dunno about lavaner, but at least you no longer need taser guns:)
hi all.conflict in babble..really??!! never a dull day in babble land :) i need to read back
my lavender bush did not survive last winter. . so i had to buy a new one.
Hi Lilli. :-)
wrong bush, need a shrub with a high thc content
howdy lillian
my lilac tree didn't survive the rehab of the house so i will be digging one up out of the woods in a few weeks
Thc? Whaddat?
fe
i don't like the added paranoia with THC (active chemical in weed soodle)
hi flosey and lilliann
I've tried growing lavendar here without luck (but I know others around here have it). I seem to have a terrifically fertile catnip plant, though.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydr\nocannabinol
all the cats come to nuzzle my greek oregano a close first cousin to catnip. . .
sorry,seems i broke the chog
there are different kinds nef. . . look for one that likes colder winters
just read back, someone needs to take a happy pill!
it will clear when the url is off the page
no crossy not at all. . .
i knew i should of used tinyurl for that
i use to have loads of lavender bushes in my garden nef, maybe it was because i lived where it was and is chalky?
some people have problems that they are not always able to put behind them. . . we should try our best to be understanding and when that doesn't work take a break. . .
it isn't bothering me, crossy (and Hi to you, I missed you earlier)
howdy,nef:))
<==little mary sunshine
stats for the corner E please
ec 6/21
shall we call youMary now, jmc?
catnip nef? does that not encourage all the cars in the neighbourhood?
And I, worst gardener of the year, have lavender growing in Jurassic Park, aka my garden.
haha that or jasmine esmerelda. . .
my car stays away from the catnip. . .
and et 6/18
one of those 2 anyways
cats even :)
that ec 6/21 has to do with transplanting, jmc
hmmm ty crossy and nef *looking*
Our yard is fenced in, lilli. I've never seen another cat here (of course; that could also be due to the yappy little dog we have)
oregano brings them in too. . . my fence is not cat proof since i want my cat to come in and out at will
i didn't know that about oregano jmc
it is a cousin to catnip. . .
<-------puts oregano into all of Soodle's Signature Dishes!
we have dried catnip for our cat and she goes mad so i don't want to plant one as we have loads of cats in our neighbourhood and i don't want them peeing and pooing everywhere and pulling my plants out of my tubs and window boxes
actually, mints are also related to catnip. If you feel the stem of the plant; they will feel square; which means they are part of that family.
it's very true, nef
really nef, i never knew that about mint and catnip.i always have mint growing in tubs
i like oregano too soodle that is why i grow it. . . too cheap to buy the fresh herb. . .
interesting.did not know that about mint
(they also are very invasive
i like oregano soodle
wise to grow mint in tubs because it is very invasive. . .
I love the catnip for the flowers, my cat loves it for the high :)
we love growing wild chives.love them on taters
i bet it does mael :) mine would never be away from it. i call catnip cat pot
yes i like the oregano flowers too. . . i also grow thyme and chives and have a 30 ft tall bay tree. . .
i was just going to say i always grow chives and love the purple flowers
the chive flowers are great to eat and makes things look pretty. . .
I'm just going to say this and then I will shut up. Having problems you can't put behind you is not a license to constantly insult people.
lol,i do the same.i say to the cats"ok where is your bong?" and they get all excited because they know that catnip is coming(we use a liquid catnip spray and put a spritz or 2 on a favorite toy
my neighbour has a bayleaf tree and gave me a branch of them the other day.do you know how i dry them or maybe take a cutting jmc?
i also grow parsley and basil. . .several kinds
we have chives, oregano, catnip, peppermint, spearmint and..... I've forgotten the other mint. They all are growing in deep pots sunk in the ground because of how they spread (not the chives, though They are already coming up though
Theres a thing! How do you guys across the Atlantic pronounce 'oregano'? I say OriGANNO. I've heard it pronounced ad orIGGano on TV shows. What do you call it?
i usually leave them on the branch lillian. . .they are never pretty when they dry. . .
i have fruit bushes...blueberrie,red currant, black currants and raspberries and miniature trees in pots..apple, pear and plum
o-reg-gano. ..
the birds eat all my fruits :-(
i say ori garn-o
but you can let them dry slowly on the branch. . .
we say oreg-an-o not or-e-ganno
brb mail's here (highlight of day)
without the r sound it would sound like ori-gaaaan-o which is what some geordies say for going...gan
the catnip, mints and chives are all that are up so far. :-( There are little nubbins of rhubarb just showing their color s in that corner of our yard.
TomAtoes, TomAhtoes, I guess!
jmc says oregano the same way we do here in the Midwest.
i also grow tomatoes, potatoes and strawberries.i think alot of my strawberrie plants died this winter
I say origano, but I'm Italian :)
i agree molly
Lilliann, how's the bairn doing?
ooh, i bet you know loads of fab italian dishes then mael?
I also agree, Molly
I do! Or at least, I hope I do!
words that start with vowels hate crossy and hide
And me!!!
crossy, I hate vowel words so so so much. My brain has such a hard time finding them, for whatever reason
she's fine thanks soodle, she has the odd moment but has recovered really well.ty for asking
Thats great, Lil!
mael, you'll have to share some of your recipes with us
she's back to being a gobby teenager!!
crossy loves good italian dishes..as long as a pound or 3 of cheese is involved:))
Mael, I was looking at your picutres the other day. You are a fabulous photographer!
my favorite dish to impress is my lasagna
thanks, godthaab! Those are older photos, I really need to update my flickr account. It's one of my favorite things to do
Hego was on earlier, - she's going to Tuscany in a couple of weeks. How I envy her. The food, the wine,.......... Sigh
ohhh, home made lasagna with lots of cheese and lots of layers:))
the more layers the better. You need to get the pasta sheets as thin as possible, so they get crispy on the edges and melty in the middle
It's great you get to travel so much. Are these vacations, or work related?
Tuscany this time of year is just marvelous, the food is marvelous year round
lol, keep the grape juice just bring the lasagna and a few bottles of ouzo
Work and family, mostly. I wish I could say I go to Italy on vacation, but alas, I go for work and to deal with my aunts :)
'Crispy on the outside, melty in the middle'.....salivating....
it's her vacation godthaab
ojhhhh..crossy is hungry now...all crispy cheese on top....
that's what i like about a home-made lasagne, as mine always gets crispy on the outside and soft in the middle but shop bought ones aren't like that at all
shop ones are crapola
it's true, lillian, they are absolutely not worth it
i hate ouzo
light on the meat, heavy on the sheets of pasta and a skim of bland mild cheese
but that's greek not italian :)
*sigh* money in; money out. . .i never seem to get ahead. .
same here,jmc
i love retsina. . .
alright, peeps, I'm heading out to go to the movies!
see you all soon, hope you all have a great weekend!
Welcome to my world, JMC... :-(
bye mael have fun. . .
i think that is the same with all of us jmc.i had money in my bank the other day, and now it's nearly all gone on bills :(
what are you going to see mael?
smart phone are soo good now,we are at the stage of saving a bew household budget dollars and tossing the land line, but old habits dies hard
Iron Man 3, like the comic book nerd that I am
i was doing okay until i quit my job at the center. . . what was i thinking? *shakes head*
i find retsina very strong aswell jmc but i do love greek food and love corfu
ttyl :)
i spent a week on corfu one winter. . .
they have a wonderful and strange chinese art museum there. . .
i watched iron man1 for the first time the other night on tv and it was alright. not my type of film but i quite enjoyed it. i hope you enjoy mael, and tc
i need a clue for the corner e please
To quote 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'... It will all be fine in the end. If its not fine....its not the end!
ec+ vowel+ not brother
i never saw that jmc. was that in corfu town?
ec +vowel + not brother
so i had just finally reupped for netflix (first month free) and then I found out that my premium membership in amazon gave me netflix streaming for free. . .
snap,nef
yes it was to the right of where the ferry lands facing the water. . .
ty both
we also are going netflix to save on cable tv expenses.what is your opinion of it ,jmc?
Ahhhh. I've been to Corfu about 12 times
you are a very fast typist, crossy
hey all, just got home, have a few minutes' quiet time...
i know where you are talking about jmc
howdy ((stidmama))
it is okay. . . 10 per month means that if i watch more than 2 movies that month i come out ahead. . .
you would cringe at how i type, nef
hi stid. Your books are mailed! :-)
but now that i get it through amazon. . . i am really happy. . .
WOO_HOO!!!!!
we've been about 8 times soodle. we haven't been for years as we then started going to egypt as we could get a cheaper holiday all inclusive, but i do miss corfu and the greek people we met that became really good friends
it is a tiny museum but i was just graduated from my chinese history degree so was delighted to find it. . .
um. sorry for hollering. (yippee) :-D
stid i found tom but not you on amazon. . . :-(
where did you go in corfu soodle?
hi stid :)
lol,np,stidmama.i love getting books as gifts also
Netflix for free with Amazon Prime? Can you explain that please?
I also picked up my "knight owl" horseshoe sculpture from one of the schools I sub at today. It's a great project for teaching welding to the kids and will make a most excellent paperweight when I get my own classroom!
crossy also has to look into amazon prime.if i can get a 2-1 for same price....
i just bought some textbooks and they asked me did i know that my prime included free streaming movies and would i be interested and i said yes and they sent me an email that said it was netflix. . .
Right down the very bottom of the island, Lill. Close to Messonghi/Morataki.
yes, stud. Could you post your Amazon name (or whatever) here on your profile for a month or so?
That is why I'm curious. I have Amazon Prime and there is no mention of free Netflix.
why is it on babble, either there is no chat, not a lot of chat and then there is loads that you can't keep up with.i'm going dizzy!! :)
the prime saves a ton on shipping if you are not in a rush. . .
i was surprised. . . brb. . .
Famine or feast, Lilliann
Dear J. E. , Choose from thousands of movies and TV episodes in Prime Instant Video and watch at no additional cost. There's no downloading, no waiting, just instant streaming. Browse by Genre, Most Popular, Recently Added and more. Or search for exactly what you're looking for. Watch instantly, then pick up where you left off on another device or online. Save videos to Your Watchlist to view later.
ok..i see a cost of $79.00 a year plus taxes.looking for it to tell me about bonus stuff with it
that was from amazon
Yeah, but that is Prime Instant video, not Netflix.
very interesting,ty,jmc
we use to go to roda as it was quiet and then travel around the island in a car everytime, but i don't rember messongi/merotaki.i'll have to look at a map
the main bonus is free shipping for most amazon things
so,i do not know amazon,or amazon prime at all.is it mostly books??
you are right molls. . .i swear one of the things said netflix. . .
crossy uses biblio.com for books atm
amazon is a big internet store. . . i usually buy my books direct from dealers but if i can't find them i will buy them through amazon. . .
First of all, check into whether or not Amazon Prime is available in Canada. Your 79 bucks gets you free 2 day shipping on most orders and free streaming of movies and TV shows. It's not Netflix.
We actually drove from ireland to Corfu, several times. With 3 small kids!! (Are we there yet became dirty words!) but we got 5 weeks of Corfu, so it was actually worth it!
i will delve deeper before jumping in
and i usually go through goodshop so a percentage of what i buy is kicked back to the Center where i used to work. . .
what was the driving time for you, soodles, from start to finish?
jmc, I don't know how to make the amazon thing work. I use my real name or my screen name (either should work) but I don't know how to search for someone in the amazon universe. NOT particularly user-friendly.
I tried looking for you, stir. I couldn't figure it out.
Right now is not a great time for me to "think" anyway... Grant has been sick for five days now, and I just got home from teaching. *frazzled mama look*
What's the matter with Grant?
poor frazzled((stidmama))
i must admit my hubby wanted to drive to corfu and we did see irish and english cars there but we thought perhaps they had holiday homes or lived there. we always said, that would be one place we would live.we were at the top of the island but always drove around the edges and up into the mountains where there were just goats.it was great
you use stidmama? I should be able to find your wish list then. . .
Virus, Nef -- we are ALL run-down and ripe for getting sick, but he is the one who has been in the petri dish of high school daily. He's not shaking it off like he normally would, but at least this afternoon he has some color back.
i hope grant get well soon stid
thanks lilliann -- I have been worried about him. I got REALLY worried when, two days in a row, he was okay with me saying NO to his girlfriend visiting!
Okay i apparently read a netflix ad on the prime streaming page. . . these people make me confusled all the time. . . but i can get dontown abby and other tv shows as well as videos so i will live with it . . .
I think corfu would be nice to visit... I would have to invest in sunscreen though!
that definitely isn't a good sign! i take it he wants to see her now?
I think he's going to want to soon, anyway! LOL
sneding healing thoughts and prayers for Grant. (not normal for a boy to agree with his Mom about no visitor!)
thanks Nef -- how's the grandson doing? Did I see something about a bday party?
We drove about 4 hrs from Trim to Rosslare in Wexford, caught a ferry to the UK, landbridge across the UK to Dover, Channel Tunnel to France, then straight down through France, Switzerland, Germany, took in Luxembourg, into Italy, then caught a ferry from Venice, down the whole length og Italy, and we eventually arrived in Corfu. Four days later. We stayed for 5 weeks, then turned around, and did it all again in reverse!
well, you're his mam, you're always going to worry about him, whether he's healthy or not and at any age.that's what we mam's do :)
Hi everyone! How is freon not a word???
brb phone (Mother)
you got me alexis
stid, he turned 4 yesterday; and although his color and energy (and mischief) were back to normal; he still didn't eat much of any of his favorite foods; nor could he eat more than 2-3 bites of his cake.

Freon is a brand name.

Alexis, I think it's a proper name
okay bbl. . . i have to go figure out a lobbying registration form. . .
I just looked it up. It's such a commonly used word I never realized it's a brand name.
my husband did it in a lorry soodle, but that was to the mainland. he always said if we had the time we would drive and stop for about 3 weeks, like you did but we never got a chance.now i just like to fly to anywhere as it is alot quicker and better for me
So; we're having my "adopted" daughter (our old neighbor from Iran) and her 2 kids over tomorrow for a sort of b'day party. I have a pinnate and we'll just let them giggle and play
freon?
mm,just looking at amazon, see what it is all about.i forgot that is it wired in with kindle.i am assuming it only does kindle e-books and no others
Happy Birthday nef.i hope you have had a lovely day and enjoy tomorrow and i read that it was your grand son's birthday yesterday. a happy belated birthday to him too :)
Yes, but e-books wouldn't figure in to an Amazon Prime membership as there is no shipping involved when you order an e-book.
yup, just trying to get a feel of what it is all about here
thank you lilli
It pays for itself if you do a lot of on line shopping. I think you can test drive it for free.

Congrats, peri.
Aw, that's nice Peri.

kim cattrall is on graham norton and i like her.she was brilliant in sex and the city and chris pine and benedict cumberbatch who star in star trek are on. i don't know chris pine but i know benedict.apparently a german woman took a 20 hr bus drive from germany a japanese woman flew from japan and a woman from nebraska flew in just to watch pine and cumberbatch!!
Hello soodle and nancy
A 'Like' buttton on Babble! For Peri's 4.55 post!
thank you, Soodle!
hi peri, can you tell me what a pinning ceremony is and what farklempt means please
Yes, definitly, so glad you were there for her peri on a very important day!! Brings back memories for me, my pinning was 33 years ago...*sigh* . Glad there are youth coming up so that I can retire...
:-) And Hi Jilly.
Pinning ceremony is actually graduation and they get a pin. Farklempt is a yiddish word for overcome with emotion.
the ages of the students ranged from 19 to 60!! my niece is 36.
For nurses lilliann
Lovely!
Did they carry white lamps, peri?
both men and women in the class.
they carried electric candles
The nurses' pinning cermony is very symbolic and beautiful.
Dammit. I'm going to put this wretched tablet back in the kitchen, where it belongs.
lots of nice speeches too. her mom, my sister, died 13 years ago and we have become quite close.
aside from me she had her fiance and lots of friends to help celebrate. we went to an Indian Buffet afterwards. the food was delish.
ah ok, ty.wtg your niece peri.good for her. it sounds lovely with the candles.i thought farklempt was yiddish but i didn't know the meaning. does she have a job lined up peri or know where she wants to works and what field of nursing?
it sounds lovely peri and i'm sure she was proud to have you there
Hi again; got distracted for a while there. Trying to catch up on chog: you went to your niece's pinning ceremony, Peri? How nice!
she has a job at the moment but not as a nurse. she has to study for her boards and is looking for a job in nursing too. she likes gerontoly and ob/gyn.

I need to find more words here. I have 145 left.
Board exams are very stressful peri....I will never let my license go...will take it to the grave with me. I never want to do a board exam, EVER

Time for me to bzz....Until tomorrow...pfft!
hi sue:)
hey sue, my niece had her pinning ceremony today!
Jilly, it's changed so much since we were young. When I took "The Boards" it was a 3 day test at the North Dakota state capitol skyscraper (the Only building in ND as tall as 15 floors! Nothing else was more than 10 floors at the time)
yay peri's niece!!
Po8...after flame
i have po8 which is send a letter and flames
and st8 which is more acne
Yes, but the stress hasn't changed...
And the testing was done over 3 days. How about you, Jilly?
ty, looking.
i don't have the co8 though peri, can you give me a clue please
bye bzzn, tc
FR 8/60 - person who does FR 6 - type of painting
Molly or someone gave a good clue earlier for the co8 let's see if they will clue
oh, I know that too! I have several young friends that called me and told me "the computer shut off at 75 (or 100) questions! I must have really flunked !"
here, nurse are solid gold.they have no problems getting positions at all as a matter of fact it is the total opposite.they have hospital scouts right there trying to woo them away
Jill, Nef, did you all have to walk ten miles in the snow barefoot to take your exams? : D
st8, more acne - not getting it

Just pretending to be awake here - haven't had my coffee yet

Can smell coffee coming from kitchen and sounds of hubby cutting fruit :)
what a spoilt girl
i love the smell of freshly ground coffee but hate the taste b
V true! Lucky me :)
plus it makes me sleep
does your hubby make breakfast every day liz?
I love fresh coffee but agree taht the smell is even better than the taste.
He does most of the cooking - there are times when we share it and other times when I cook. He shouldn't have complained that stir fry veg was not a meal, when we first went out!
hi Liz! clue for the po8?
My Australian is ike that, every meal has to be around meat or fish....never vegetables.
hiya Lynxxx
He def thought that, so he took over the main cooking and I put on weight!
lol, stir fry food is good however it comes.you're very lucky he can cook. saying that mine can too, he's just never here to do it.luckily enough i've taught the bairn well and she is good at soups, puddings and cakes
po8 compound...what you do with a letter & **** in the hole!

it is SUNNY here, LBD! They are even using the 8 number in the forecast for sunday! *bounce bounce* too much sun?
crossy does breakfast every day:))
weather liars are saying in the lower 70's this weekend. will see what happens.
apparently we are in for sun and 19 degrees over the weekend and for a bank holiday that is good :)
"weather liars" lol
wow - harsh Dawg lol
I hope you get the nice weather, too, LBD. you-all deserve it!
it is 24c here atm :)
that sounds like a great forecast, lilliann -- what bank holiday are you having? We don't get one yet -- Memorial Day at the end of the month is the last one before summer break.
we're under cloudy skies right now. they said, mostly sunny...(HA!) and only 30 pop. bah humbug on them.
hmph. 24 indeed! seems a little early for a temp like that where you live, cross
i would love one of your home cooked breakfasts crossy.have you finished booking your irish holiday crossy?

hi TOwl!
hi lyn!
i know our northern neighbors have patriots day coming up in a few weeks.
you actually get a holiday for may day? wow.
hi TO!
hi dawg! hi all!
although it's late. we always have it on the monday, infact all our bank holidays are mostly on a monday and occasionly on a friday as in easter
hm. sounds like LBD has a serious case of the grumpies... *reaches for choclits*
but my parents live in france and they celebrate easter, ascenscion day etc on that day, whatever it is
they have 2 in a row this week.monday and tuesday
hi TO :)
hey TO!
oh heck, you guys will get earn me a summons as a chog hog! :D
Nothing grumpy about calling the weather people liars LBD. Call it like it is. : D
well, I need to look at some of the house plans again... back later. Trying to see if I can get the plan the kiddo likes better into the equation with the money we have. Not optimistic, but will try.
*poof*
tc stid
i agree with lbd.we always get a weather forecast one night and the next day it isn't always as they say and what gets me is that they clump us together as in counties(here) but it could be sunny where i live and down the road in another village it could be raining or snowing.our county is uite a big one!
Our weather people are very good now - a 5 day forecast can be pretty accurate - I understand the number of radar sites they have make it pretty accurate - will be even better when they get more sites.
Our weathermen have been telling us for over a month that "this is our Last snow of the season." Humph!!! We've had about 6 "Last snows" so far.
we do get 5 day forecasts here aswell lynn, a few weeks ago we were going to be in for so much snow so we bought things to deal with it and we hardly had any and that forecast even went to the village i live in.so now, i take what they say with a pinch of salt and look out of my window and go from there
Ascension day celebrates the day when Christ ascended into heaven, lillian
i know it can change quickly but then they shouldn't give us 5 day weather forecasts.i know it must be hard for these people as our weather has changed dramatically over the years but we look to these people to know what they are doing and saying
ascension = re6.18 & 7.28
TO, interesting video you posted in your profile.
I think she was saying that they celebrate on whatever day of the week it is; jaxx7; not that she didn't know what ascension is
molly, i though i removed all the vids...let me look at myself :)
except ascension day, and every other christian doctrine pertaining to jesus, actually pertains to the sun
for he who was buried for three days (beneath the horizon on december 22 23 and 24th) rose again on december 25th bringing the world peace and is thus humankind's savior
ooh, dinner bell ringing, off I go!
ty jax, i know what ascension day is, i was just saying whatever day it happens upon in france is the day they celebrate it :)
as it started rising again back into the northern hemisphere
its useful to know what you're actually celebrating.. we seem to celebrate days without knowing what they actually are
that to me is insanity
that to me is insanity
thanks for the 6 and 7, lynxxx! :-)
wow - that happened in December?!
I'm pretty well aware of the origins of all the days, rites and celebrations that I participate in.
every year
did you know that jesus is actually the sun? hence the halo or illumination behind every portrait of him?
you're quite right magoris. i don't celebrate alot of them, they just happen to be bank holidays to me:)
seems like Christians just tagged onto pagan etc celebrations
That's one interpretation.
oh, THAT video. Have you seen it, lyn? Nef? Lil?
i wouldn't trust the zeitgeist video, because it uses a lot of rhetoric to get the message across. but the premise is solid
I haven't seen it, TO; but I'm trying to watch it in-between words right now
i almost want to say that its not an interpretation molly, it coincides too much to be a coincidence
no TO.what video?
Hi again :)

VY, have you caught up with welki yet?
Each person's interpretation of their spirituality is based on their own perception.
no
but molly, this reflects reality turned into a story for the masses to beleive

okay, going to go make something for dinner. good luck everyone on the grid.
bye from me too
Bye lyn and lbd - enjoy your day / evening :)
hello friends
Hi trif :)
bye lbd and hi trif
there is the SWEETEST little fawn in my yard right now....just charming
can you get a photo trif?
Aw cute - would love to see that :)
me too liz
VY, I don't think it's nice to challenge another person's core beliefs. Everyone here has their own views and beliefs about religion (or lack of it); politics and religion are 2 subjects not really suitable (to me, anyway) to this chat room. Most people come to chat because of their love of this game and grow to be friends here; we all enjoy it and have common bonds. It's okay to have differing opinions; don't try to "convert" others to your way of thinking
hi Trifi
its too dusky out to get a good photo. It's so freaking cute....gamboling about, just loving life
Well said, Nef :)
i just get other peoples' cats, bats, owls and cooing doves at 5am :)
I second what Lizlin said! Wells aid, Nef.... and hello everyone. x
hi dear jacs!
Well said, not 'wells aid'! Typing fingers must be tired.
Hi TO.x
but truth is truth nef. I'm not trying to convert, just injecting truth in the vast field of confusion. nobody can explain why they believe what they do, they were just told to. start asking what the heck its all about and you'll draw the same conclusions as every scientist without even being told
i agree nef. i actually typed out majority of what you said nef but then deleted it as people were ignoring it so i thougt i should :)
x to you!
hi jacs :)
Hi lil. Just looking for my final word.
I'm glad Nef said something. It gets tedious here the way people "ignore the elephant in the room".
Hi jac and to :)
hey liz.
the only truth I am looking for is the 15 words I can't find
ignorance is what is perpetuating the lack of progression in this world
VY, that's YOUR opinion. Please remember that.
FIREWORKS! :-)
makes me so upset that people as friendly as you guys are that ignorant. nef, its more than an opinion, its backed by evidence
Yay!
Belief and faith have little to do with scientific facts.
huzzah for jacula!
There are forums for those discussions and most poeple don't think this is one of those.
Congrats, Jac :)
therefore its likely to be wrong
i deleted what i said as if you reply, these people just keep going on so i thought better of it.i have my own beliefs, i don't need to be preached upon
VY - I think that point is that this is NOT the place to discuss it. Some of us may agree with you and some of us may not, but Babblechog isn't the place for it.
but why do you believe what you do?
how did a mention of a bank holiday lead to this crap? I just want to find words. It is what I'm here for.
Anyone need any help with the grid?
Tons of help, please!!!!!
I just got here jacula...haven't even hit nbt yet, and having a bugger of a time getting there. boooo
VY; please. We like to welcome Newbies; and it take a lot of nerve to call this group ignorant.
clues for 8's please?
clue for the ir8 jac, I'm blind and annoyed now
i wish i never mentioned bank holiday now!!
clue for the ei 7 - I've read previous clues and still am not finding it!
ir 8 - like a female version of someone who presses clothes
ei7...four letter word for Ireland and the first three of the Christmas saint.
ir7 = hard metal + name of a Scottish loch with a monster in it.
thanks!
so i'll just cater to the emotions--as opposed to truth; again--and say that you are all not ignorant even tho you do not provide reasoning for subjective belief in the face of scientific evidence
Christmas saint?
e+anger+opposite of mean-last letter
Jolly Old Saint .......
i'll hush--as every philosopher was told to 2000 years ago
I tried what I thought might be the saint but it didn't work!
Ah! Got it! Thanks
Christmas saint, Lizlin - same name as the devil.
wtg jac!! :)
WTG, Jacula on the FW!!!! YAY!!!
Pleasantville! Love it!
I'll bet there are a lot of discussion forums out there that deal with reasoning, subjective belief and scientific evidence - but this is not one of them.
Which is what I also said - great minds!
ty for the ei molly and book
and hello to all who have joined us in that last several minutes! :-)

Saw it was your birthday, Nef. Happy birthday :) And to your grandson, I think!
So many re words again!
Oh, birthday? Happy birthday Nef and grandson. x
thank you, Lizlin. Yes, today is my b'day; yesterday was my grandsons.
thanks, Jac.
Speaking of 're' words and someone who hated them so much I made her an icon pic stating that, has anyone seen 'exWren' lately?
gee, no.
no jac
I hope she's okay. She was getting on a bit.

Molly - you'll have to give us proof on Youtube. lol
What are your banks holidaying about now?
lil - Glad you're all okay. x
Molly - goodness knows, since we're in a recession.
May Day holiday!
Posting YouTube videos of one's self is for bigger egos than mine.
it'll be may day!
lol np nef...gotta love autocorrect :)
The holiday is really the May Day holiday (old pagan festival, but let's not go there again!) It should be 1st May but is put to nearest convenient weekend these days.
although may day was on wednesday
Molly - lol re Youtube.
"bumps?" that doesn't sound good; especially at my age! I'm a "woman of a certain age;" which means we don't mention numbers! ;-) Besides; you guys know that I'm sort of reti**d
Hi smores :)
it's always on a monday
Oh you all had me going about May Day, which is Beltane for me and has already passed.
Molly - yes, Beltane.
Hahahahaha....Nef retired....hahahahaha!
Nef - we'll give you 21 virtual and very gentle 'bumps' then. x
have you never had the bumps nef? it's when people get your arms and legfs and throw you in the air

Happy Birthday,Nef!!
Lil - a good description, but they don't actually let go of you (unless your childhood friends were really cruel). lol
Places a chocolate cake with nice thick ganache icing on sideboard....along with an ice pack for your bumps...lol
Hi peri.
if you get the bumps, you'll be wiping crumbs from all over for weeks nef :)
Is giving the bumps just a UK thing?
That's pretty cool. Our banks don't close for Pagan festival days.
Lizlin - re 'the bumps' - maybe it is. Never thought about it before.
OMG, lilli! NO!!! We always got spankings , a smack on the butt for every year.
Don't trust Smores ganache. It doesn't have sugar or dairy in it. : P
Me neither - til just now
Hi, Jac

now may chat is normals width and in looks
Nef - nope.
We just ran the long url off the board. Tiny url from now on please.
it's back to normal now jac, but it went to the left aswell for me as in wideness
bichon, the pink and purple "purses"
*Hangs head in shame at not doing tinyurl because she really should know better.*
yay, we are back to normal. doing a dance....
(next to the flags)
There are several glitchy things that happen here since the upgrade to the new server. Like, every morning at 6AM EST, the board goes off line for three minutes.
When were those. I've been here about 5 or 6 years
"joins lilli in dance"
When were what, Bich?
those are tbs in the recipe.nt tsps, smores?
Bichon - they've been here for years. Those of us that were on line when Dr_G put them on called them 'handbags' or 'purses' because we didn't at first see that they were supposed to be pink, blue or grey people.
i'm enjoying our dance smores, i'm twirling you at the moment :0
yes TO
between your name and your countries' flag, there is a symbol there. It's the head and shoulders of a person; and denotes the sex (although there are some grey ones too
The male/female symbols. Ive been here going on 7 years
They look like winter hats to me.
you mean the pocketbooks? :)
I have *never* seen them. What's missing here?
Bobble hats, Molly. Yes, I can see that too.
weeeee....
thanks smore, off to kitchen i go
my mum is here with me tonight, and we are watching the red sox game, and she is CRACKING ME UP. Firstly, she insists on saying, "ugh, they are playing TexASS" and then giggling like a schoolgirl.
I've only ever seen them as male /female symbols but now I see hats!
Bich, you don't see a pink symbol between your name and your flag?
bichon - you've got a pink one.
no, definitely pocketbooks yep.
I never noticed that they were different colors. And some people don't have them
secondly, the game has been on for maybe ten minutes, and she is complaining that they haven't done ANY thing yet.
lol trif
when my oldest daughter was little, she asked me what the purses next to our names meant....
Trif - that's mums for you!
LOL, Trifi!!
I never noticed they looked like little purses, but to a little girl, what doesn't?
:-)
lol...always saw them as head and shoulders until little purses / hats were mentioned a while back
I don't know how you don't get one. Not choosing male or female in your account settings usually gives you a grey one (androgenous)
hang on a minute, are people talking about the shoulders and head next to the flags?
yes
Yes, the head and shoulders, purse, hat things. : D
if so, what has that got to do with a purse, it looks like the top half of a person to me anyway :) saying that, it's like the butterfly splats on a page that you have to say that they look like something
we all have different views :)
<---Wishes she had used "butterfly splats" in her term paper on Rorscharch.
that what makes things interesting :)
Purse being US speak for handbag!
i meant the ink splats that look like butterflies or whatever
funny, now that you mention it, it could look like a purse
"butterfly splats" is going on my list of potential punk rock band names
I call it a pocketbook, but less often purse
Rorscharch?
Oh Lord, here we go. Purse, pocketbook, handbag, clutch.
haha...nice Trif....I like it :)
<---Wants to be informed when Trif joins a punk rock band.
actually now people have said purses and hats, i now see it :)
Punk rock band name. Yes, lol.
Molly, great photo in your profile
Rorschach (I typoed) is the test you were referring to with the ink blots.
Lil - butterfly splats? I really don't see that.
oh, and here's something fun, for those who might enjoy it: my friend Steven and his daughter invented a BRILLIANT car game: Whenever you see an Escape car, you have to be the first to yell "TARDIS" - as Escapes look small, but are bigger on the inside
glad i could help with a punk rock band name :)
is it safe to enter the chat/
BRB
Um - what's an Escape car?
always for you, ruru dear
Hi Ru :)
People are really gaga over this Dr. Who stuff.
As jac said, what's an Escape car?
its a Ford model, jacula
ofcourse it is ru, if you have a handbag, bobble hat and can see the meaning in ink splats :)
what's an escape car?
see below
A new car - being launched / was launched as Ford Kuga in UK - just googled it!
aye, i've just seen it trif.chat went slow
never heard of it liz, will have to google
slow??? I can't keep up anymore!
Finally killed the c's!
Kuga? Sounds like how they say cougar in Boston.
Ah! I know what it is now. Calling a car an escape car could make it sound like something you could excape to the country in but, to me, sounds like something set up to have an accident to prove you can escape from it easily. Or is that just me??
okay, so - see a Kuga, yell TARDIS
Dunno, Molly. Just googled and looked for UK equivalent to Ford Escape
it's just basically a big saloon car, nowt special
To be honest, Trif, most of today's cars all look the same to me. They don't have the indivduality and personality that cars had up to the late 1970s.
A saloon car? Does that come with dancing girls and guys with guns?
Oh AMEN Jac. They all look the same to me too.
Molly - a saloon car is a basic family car here in Uk with no hatchback etc.
it's trying to be a sporty 4x4 come people carrier and it none of them
Car design was ruined by aerodynamics.
The Ford Kuga/Escape is apparently and SUV/4-wheel drive off road type big gas-guzzling car that no one really needs to drive unless they live in the back of beyond.
i think it is ugly
Excuse lack of punctuation and bad typing. I hate this sort of car.
Molly - I agree. CAD design has removed all originality.
amuse yourselves by yelling whenever you see one :)
i don't think we'll be seeing many on the road, well i hope not trif
Trif - Nah! I'd rather yell Tardis when I do actually see a blue police phone box, like I did in Scotland a few months ago.
well, you do have the advantage on me there, jacula
I only yell when I see one of those stupid looking smart cars. I keep thinking someone let their kids out of the back yard and onto the street in their kiddie car.
apparently this ugly car is nearly £21,000 to buy
oh my, i am watching an old movie i've never seen before - 1933 alice in wonderland. what a riot!
i've seent he same police/tardis as you jac in edinburgh?
can someone help me out with the i in the third column, second row?
Yep - in Edinburgh, Lil. I took a photo.
i HATE the smart cars.you couldn't even get a shopping bag in it
angers
that is from the other i to
If I want a go cart, I'll buy a go cart.
me too jac and just up from there was where we saw sir chris hoy on the bus with other olympians but he was getting the key to the city
I have is 5 / 10 - which I've only seen clued as Japanese immigrants
Trif - ir6, ir7, ir4/4 possibly.
peaceful and pl
in5, in6 not outer
Lil - we were there the day before the Olympics began. Maybe we passed in the street?
I was in a lorry, lil. Were you?
chugging along with 222...
<---Had to look up lorry
Molly - truck/wagon/HGV vehicle.
dead man lying on the side of the road with the lorries going by...
en 6/7?
Yes, I'm keeping up with y'all.
TO - is that a line from a song?
no we were there after the olypics and para olympics.it was last september i think and it chucked it down and chris hoy waved and a lady next to me shouted to him 'well done@ and he said thanks. the bairn and i went up to see hubby as we hadn't seen him for 8/9 weeks
bichon - en6 and 7 = to enslave.
finally, nbt....129 words later!
we were just on the street jac
I thought he was an old man
We were just passing through, lil.
yes, neil young's don't let it get you down. molly is correct
tyvm Jacula
hubby doesn't drive them anymore, he's self employed so will if needed but at the moment drives coaches and has a coach that you won't see many of in the uk
actually he may have been both
Molly - Chris Hoy old? He's only 37.
but it's not his, the guy he sub contracts to
A song which everyone and their brother has covered, including Annie Lennox. : O
chris hoy has now retired
i love annie lennox
No, the man in the song, who is lying by the side of the road.
He has retired from his sport, lil, but he's not old.
Oh, yes, re the Neil Young song. I knew it rang a bell.
Lil - I love Annie Lennox, too.
he's definitely not old jac. i only knew that he'd retired because i watched 'question of sport'
Lil - what's different about your hubby's coach?
i liked it when she was part of the eurythemics
Lil - did you see Annie L's 'Who Do You Think You Are?' programme? It was very interesting.
hang on and i will get an url or whatever it is for it.i'm not good with computors, plus i can't remember the name of the coach
no, i missed that
It was a really good one, Jac. I agree.
Lil - mind you use tinyurl before posting!! :-)
Wait a minute, now it's a coach? What happened to lorry? : P
*Gets out UK to American Dictionary*
let me add to the madness by saying that lewis carroll must have dropped acid
Lizlin - I like most of the programmes in that series. Obviously, they only follow the stories they know will be interesting but I think 'ordinary people's' stories are also interesting. Doubt there'll ever be a TV series about them though.
Opium TO, he took it for his "migraines"
I like the series,w hen they go back as far as they can but less so when the focus is just on one ancestor.
TO - Lewis Carroll, in common with many other authors of the time, was an opium addict.
I don't think that the Aussie series is so good.
he was DEFINITELY on SOMETHING. as was the director of this movie.
Molly - a coach is like a bus, maybe you would call it a tour bus?
Liz - haven't seen thre Aussie version.
I wouldn't bother!
I've always thought the Alice In Wonderland stories were weird.
The US version is quite good, Liz.
Now I haven't seen that one - though there have been a couple of Americans on the UK series - especially liked Jerry Springer.
jac, put in starliner coaches in the search engine and you'll get it
I've seen them go past, lil. Will check it out now.
there aren't many in this country and hubby says people stand in the road to look and take photos of and other drivers want to get on it and look
£30,000 for the basic chassis, lil. Still not quite as much as my ex-hub charges for fire engines.
Does anyone need any more clues, btw?
Nope
wow jacs, that is one impressice coach! hoa many does it seat, and where do they fit a kitchen?
OK here thanks :)
my hubby doesn't pay for it, he just drives it,but the guy he drives it for is from scotland and he has 2 and they are both have trafalgar on the side of them and are in white
hello again, need a clue for fe6 please?
not at the moment thanks jac
Hi flosey - fe6 and plural 7 is a North African fox.
With very large ears!
thanks Jacula
lol, Liz.
i think it is 50 TO and they have a mini kitchen with a microwave and toilet
y/w, flosey.
Those are some weird looking foxes.
lil - I know he doesn't pay for the vehicle. lol
help with last po7 pls
po6/33, please?
And all this time I though L's husband was riding people around in a real, honest to God coach. Ha!
As in horse driven.
i saw it last week from the outside but didn't get a chance to see it on the inside as too many people on it
NM
Peri has 'done a peri' again! ROFLOL
I am consistent
lol molly. i think any horse having to drive my husband would go on strike!lol
Flosey - po6/33 and plural 7 sounds like sulky little girls and how their mouths droop down and bottom lip juts out.
i managed to see him for an hour, actually it was this week.my f.i.l and i went for lunch and met him at a pub driving through to york
Seriously, I thought he was taking people around on scenic tours in a horse driven carriage. Hilarious.
peri - You are that.
thanks again Jacula
really molly? lmao
flosey - y/w. Molly - really am 'lol'ing now.
ty jac
Hereabouts, coach does not equal bus.
motorcoach?
he doesn't drive a bus, it's a coach, there is a difference here aswell
I'm still trying to figure out how family cars got labeled saloon cars. : D
a bus goes around towns and villages picking up people
Fireworks! Always happy to find a nice simple group of words at the end, which I've just missed!
It's all so confusing, isn't it? Let's all smoke opium so we don't care. (Only kidding!)
Well done on the *~*~*, Liz.
a coach looks different and it takes people on day trips and holidays and has a toilet normally.buses don't and you pay to go on a bus
Of course if you do a Google image search on Coach, all you get are purses/handbags/pocketbooks/clutches.
wtg liz!! :)
We have buses here, and bus lines that have bathrooms on them.
ty - off out into the sun. Thanks for some fun chat this morning. Enjoy your evenings / nights :)
Really Molly? I'd have thought you'd have got hard-face men and women ready to make you exercise until you dropped dead.
a car with a bar...now that's an invention
'Bye Liz. Have fun.x
bye liz, enjoy the suna nd tc
no jacs, t hose are trainers
TO - all the stretch limos here in UK have an inbuilt min-bar.
what are trainers in the UK?
Did anyone catch the bit in the movie Fallen where John Goodman had a beer bottle opener mounted to his dashboard? That made me laugh.
they can be running shoes TO
no. that is one intense movie.
TO - trainers can be people who coach you in the gym or for a sport, but the term is most frequently used for sport shoes.
or people who train others to do sport
It is an intense movie. I didn't realize how intense until I started watching it and I wasn't in the mood for another "drunk story".
I LOVE Babble - it's the best thing ever for sorting out all these differences of language amongst 'English speaking people'.
But of course, I kept watching because it was Denzel.
No, not seen 'Fallen'.
and there are definitely loads of differences jac
donald sutherland is one spooky dude.
I'm still not over Fanny : O
lol molly :)
uh oh, i don't know that one.
There ARE, lil. But the internet gives us the chance to actually ask, share, laugh and exchange. That's brilliant.
Oy, I meant Flight, not Fallen.
i don't know how you remember all of this molly
TO, apparently in the UK, Fanny means women's genitals.
oh i agree, i just don't understand that we are all suppose to speak english and yet we have so many words that have different meanings and spelt differently
Molly - fanny means female sexual bits here, not bum/ass/arse like it does in US.
So if you ever visit there, do NOT refer to giving someone a pat on the fanny (to us it means butt)
oh, you mean woman bits? do women have bits or do only men have bits???
molly knows what it means jac, i told her a while back on here and she's never forgotten
Jac, I think we are having a 7 second delay.
we call them bits here TO
*looks down at Bits*
i think bits is the funniest
you don't have a fanny ru! :)
Misunderstandings begin wars, which is why we should all take advantage of the opportunities afforded here to gain understanding. (Other than people trying to bludgeon their ideas onto us, of course.)
I bet men like the term bits as much as they like the word premature.
we don't call them bits so much now but years ago we did as we always have to be correct being english you know!! :)
we don't call men's bits,i nearly said what we do, but i don't want to lower the tone
I'm tempted to post a link to a video of a UK comedian, Les Dawson doing a sketch of women talking about 'women's stuff' using nods and winks and half-said words. But I don't want to make the chog go wide again.
<---Wants a saloon car
aye, never say pat on the fanny here, you'll get slapped :)
LOL, lil. 'Tis true!
Swear to God, if I ever visit the UK I am going to become a selective mute.
Molly - believe me you do not want a boring car with no all-singing and dancing stuff included. It's a car that will seat a family of 4 and their possible luggage for a holiday you can drive to in no more than 4 hours.
you molly...mmm, like pigs fly :)
*Is tempted to invite Molly to visit*
i would love her to visit jac, especially up here, she wouldn't understand anyone :)
I have this great saloon girl costume, complete with fish net hose. I need a saloon car to go with. : D
and where do you where that, Molls?
and you would get away with saying alot up here, as long as you drink and have a good time
I've got a great series of photos of me in that kind of get-up, Molly. Taken at a brithday party back in the 1980s.
help with first se6/18 pls.
it wouldn't go with the car molly
Lil - We'll come and stay nearby and visit when you have Molly to stay. It would be fun.
i want to see a picture of molly wearing it :)
Oh but my saloon car is going to have swinging wooden doors, a bar and a honky tonk piano. : D
both the first se6's have double cons peri
it would jac
so they do, ty lil
you wouldn't get all that in a saloon car molly :D
If Molly wants wood on her saloon car doors, I guess she needs an old 'half-timbered' car like a Morris Traveller or a Mini Traveller.
would they fit?
i remember morris minors
yw peri
peri - the first se6 ends with what you catch fish in and sounds like US government thing. 2nd se6 has a different last vowel and sounds like thr US southern version of the word.
I have them, ty Jac
y/w, Peri.xx
Jacula, you are really good at slingo. You have beat me at every game so far
Yeah well here they were just called Woodies, but now we are opening another kettle of fish.
sorry about that, peri!
isn't it a british saying keep a stiff upper lip?
oh, no, it means something to do with a man's appendage here
no worries. you have probably been playing longer than I have. it is a fun game
yes ru
lmao
Molly - woodies here in UK means something else entirely - to do with male members and their 'readiness' or 'eagerness'.
molly, you have a filthy mind, even if you don't know it...brit wise anyway
The funniest thing I have ever read on Babble is the "other" meaning for Morning Glory. : D
I did not read that Molly.
Yes, it means that here too. Hence the mention of another kettle of fish.
Molly - what? Morning hard-on 'cos need a wee desperately?
morning glory, i've never heard that one
*says two hail mary's*
L, we have been told that we all have gutter minds, haven't you heard?
me either
Have you not, lil? Even though married to a trucker? I am surprised.
I thought she was married to a coachman. You all are not playing fair.
Lol re the hail marys, but ruru, can you please stop using that icon?
What IS it with everyone complaining about Ru's icon?
ditto re the icon, ruru. we all got the message
no, i've never heard of morning glory.i know it as something else but am too polite to say :)
pls say, lil
Molly - I'm not going to get into that. Youn know what it's about.
believe me molly, if anyone's mind is in the gutter, it's mine :)
Wait, something other than a man's early morning pop up?
I think Oasis sang about Morning Glory (a plant) if I recall.
no peri, i was brought up to be polite and i don't want people suddenly appearing on here having a go
ok
my husband does drives coaches but not horse bound and also trucks but at the moment he drives coaches
fw. now going to watch Flea Market Flip. cu all later
yay!wtg peri!! :)
they did sing morning glory jac
Wow Ru, time to go for puppies and kitties I guess.
See you on FB later, peri. xx
bye peri and tc :)
need a clue for the first te6/18, please?
flosey - Brit term for £10.
po 8pls?
reading back. what is wrong with ru's icon?
Apparently people don't like being reminded of the Nancyboy farce.
po8, to mail a letter and flames
thanks Jac, but not familiar with Brit money
lil - it's of an actor/model and not of the person it was said to be.
ok, nm, got it
well, i suppose i can understand that, but at the end of the day we were all fooled and we need to be reminded how easy it can be
More than a fiver Flosey.
ty
I agree L.
Molly - none of us like being reminded of the whole damned farce, never mind the Nancyboy part of it. It did untold damage to the babble community and chog. I hope the orchestrator of it all is very pleased with his or herself for that and I hope they pay for it in the next life.
i know jac but i only learnt recently and it was a shock to me, probably because i think the best of everyone but i've learn't differently on here which upset me a bit because 99% of people here are true people with hearts of gold
|t wasn't a shock to me, lil, because, though I got shot down in flames at times, I did urge caution.
prays for the 1 %
jac, they aren't going to be bothered, they will have now moved on to the next chat
Nuff said. Time to let it rest.
I think something like that only does as much "damage" as people allow it to.
Oh, I guess our 12 minutes are up.
I'm off now. See you all next grid, maybe.
well that is all well and good for an individual but all people are different, and in this case group dynamics applied
by way of explanation. am more concerned about last 10 words
well, i hope it is 99% of people ru, that is why i speak to people on here and open up a bit as i like to think that we are all truthful and want to chat with others like minded.i just must be too gullible
what does that mean TO.. I'm not following you
re molly's view. i respect it but think there is more to it when it comes to a group, community and ecosystem, if you will. that's all. no hidden agenda. just desparation to finish.
oh ..ok thanks.. I wasn't following that
I think it applies to a group or community as well. If you don't bounce back from something, you give it the power over you it was searching for.
The group dynamic here often seems to be to ignore the elephant in the room. And having been brought up in a dysfunctional family, I can tell you that's not a healthy way to deal with things. Just my opinion.
yes. but some deep damage was done and then you are back to the resilience of the individual. at times, folks posess varying degrees of ego strength. i hear you molly, and respect your views. ignoring trolls has been SOP here, and it does seem to work.. but sometimes, depending on the entity, conrontation works as well. you really can't tell most times which is best.
at the end of the day, i've learnt not to be so gullible, learn from it, but still enjoy this game and the community. my hubby would have known as he's more street wise so to speak and always tells me i'm too nice, he always knows when something isn't right. i just want to see the best in people, it might not be right but i don't want to lose that or i won't be the person i am but i need to become stronger and not let people walk all over me
Okay, I guess I am not aware of the deep damage you are referring to. And I agree about the varying degrees of ego strength.
I'm just a Jun Masimoto fan now
a discussion is just that. not an attempt to persuade but just to surface another thought or side of the issue. sometimes i don't see that side until it's pointed out to me.
but then there are times that i won't let anyone walk over me or my family, it must be the gemini in me....
do you actually believe in astrology too?
oh boy
one thing i know: this grid is too long. diving in for the kill
me too TO
I noticed the difference. I was away for a time and missed the whole nancyboy drama. When I returned, I could read the difference. It took a long time for me to figure out what had happened. Still not in the loop, but okay.
Oh how nice. Now we have two people who only enter chat to insult people. Just what we needed.
you're misreading me because im not trying to insult anyone
i won't last long here anyways
deutsch, that is interesting.
Molly, if that was in my direction, I do apologize.
hi, babblers
hi welk!
welki did you catch the news over at serp?
No Deutsch, it was not in your direction.
nope - what's up?
azzzz?
familiar name - trouble?
Thanks, as I have fond memories and still enjoy reading and hearing about my babble friends!
she passed away
thought you may have played her as often as i did
no, didn't
didn't "know" her - i'm sorry
missing re6/18 and 7/28, any clues please?
sorry flosey, i don't have them
no worries, just passing down the news to those who may not know
but thanks Lil
re + lift up flosey
thanks ru, looking
hi, flosey
re + get up in the morning
got them, tks
hi welki
and the first re5, please?
down to last 3 and supper's almost ready
Also re6,18, ingredient in cheese.
Hi. Just going to Babble for a half hour. Day's chores completed.
And good eveing all.
howdy, wht
104 left here.
and stidgmere
Hi wht.
by the way majoris, anyone is welcome to play, just because we chat, doesn't mean we own babble,it's just that some people including me don't like other people's beliefs pushed on them
hello wht
im not pushing any beliefs on anyone
Hi wlki.
Do you mean I don't own Babble? I must read the fine print of my going pro contract.
<-- can vouch that VY is an okay guy. danged internet chat can be dicey, things come out looking in different ways than they're intended
on top of the reasoning behind my assertions, i was trying to get you to explain why you believe christianity--and most recently why you believe in astrology.. to believe something it has has to have a foundation of rationality, otherwise it's thought without thought, if you will
Well earlier we were all told that we are not intelligent, but I guess that's okay.
by VY? ut oh *backing out of chat* LOL
Let me explain to you why you think the way you do ..
ignorance does not mean low intelligence, it simply means denying of or not aware of truth or other information
i wasn't saying you were i was just trying to say, maybe not come across as you are...you've just proved my point. i don't talk about religion and as astrology i was joking and i'm not getting into it
Do you believe everything you read? Whoever says I'm not intelligent obviously has less on the ball than I do.
oh god, why did i bother!!
i think we all lack the understanding of ignorance--again, that doesn't mean low intelligence, it means lack of exposure
hi gmere :))
hello gmere
vaccuums corners of the chat room
ow! that was my foot you just ran over!
I'm about as exposed as I'm going to be so just don't look. Hi dear TO and lilliann. I think my powers of soothing speech are going to be too little too late for this chat.
but not to worry, my presence will be lacking in a few days here.. I'm just sampling the fresh waters here
hi, owl!
i shall let you continue mingling as though my interruption never occurred
I think it's interesting what you are saying VY
say hi to me in fb
by and large religion doesn't come up here very often
unless it is a jest or a joke
the last time it did, there was a huge fight and the creator smited those involved.
to me, its a serious issue that can only be resolved by reasoning. but every time i try, i get nowhere, not only because I'm forceful and direct, but because its difficult to get through to people when they've been accustomed to one particular mode of thought throughout their lives
there is a reason for that ru because religion and politics always cause arguments
wow.. I missed the smiting
probably doesn't help that you're brand new here, VY - we're a pretty cautious bunch lately, lots of trolls stirring the pot
we could have used some smiting this morning
I have been smitten once or twice :)
trolls in what sense?
i'm not being funny(as in rude) majoris but this is a word game. we chat about this, that and the other but we're not talking about how the iniverse is made. we just like to know the differences in language, food etc around the world
folks who create personae and instigate, insult, debase - are just general pains in the ass
used to be a time when there'd be serious discussion here, but not so much anymore
Hello all...back to tackle some more....hi welki, lilliann, VYcan and my dearest ruru!
Also, live under bridges, are mean-spirited, and cause trouble.
And stidg!
where are you from majoris?
thats alright to keep the integrity of the structure of genial conversation afloat here, but to also consider discussion of more serious issues that require careful thought and reasoning--without the intention of offending or insulting anyone-- is also important
wb jill :)
its just usually people back away the moment religion or politics is uttered
hey jilly - nice weather coming, finally!
canada, welki's neck of the woods
I know...I can't wait!!
just like in 'real' life, vy - many babblers come here for levity, a break from their daily crap
i mean, i might be curious about such issues but i would not take them up with the person in line with me at the checkout counter. important to YOU. you don't seem to ge that you are a majority of one.
FW at long last
Yes, I read thru the morning's acidic chog...really is not what this should be...sorry for all those that got singed.
congrats flosey
so - in a nutshell, when a newbie shows up and straightaway starts dialogue about pretty personal subjects, everyone's spidey sense goes on red alert
Congrats flosey!!
we don't want to get into serious discussions vyc.this is suppose to be fun and we learn a bit about others and our countries and we're happy. that's it and have clues given to us for the words for the game we are here for
ty gmere
wtg flosey!!
and then they become an immediate outcast. that scarily reminds me of every day life among strangers
first impressions are everything, when many times they can be wrong
And this particular chain of conversation started when a nasty comment was made to L about believing in astrology.
<-- likes a serious discussion every now and then, but after the week i've had, i'm all for knock-knock jokes
how about a do-over?
it was a comment. "you believe in astrology too?"
Personally, I like to embrace all thoughts and persuasions...
care to explain why you believe in astrology? is there an iota of truth you've witnessed aside from statistical chance?
the persuasion i would like to embrace tonight is 80 proof
Congrats, flosey!!!!!!
There are certainly some strange combinations of letters in this grid. When have 4 ns been so clustered?
That would be..."you believe in astrology too? oh boy"
WooT WooT WooT flosey!!
you can get offended by that, sure. you can also back yourself up with reason
i'll second that, welk. i only have godiva, we'll havet to triple up
as opposed to shuddering back in offense
anyway, to each their own - if you'd take five cents' worth of advice from this ol' broad, stay a while, vy, test those fresh waters and stay afloat by riding the tide until you get to know people here better
*and dat's dat*
like i said, i'll be gone very soon
*waiting for welk's irder*
order, even
Well, some will be gratefull for that.
godiva with vanilla vodka?
i might have a vodka :)
nah - it's a whiskey kind of night. two bomb scares in three days might even force the ice out of the glass. give it to me straight :)
actually, i am with lemon slimline tonic water...cheers every one..
id hate to be the culprit of marring the purity of a community
I love it when Peach gets feisty : D
Another bomb scare? I only heard about one. And that was too much.
I'm sure there will be peach
omg welki.you've had bomb scares?
*lifts glass of lemon water in toast with lilliann*
Kentucky Derby tomorrow. I'll be enjoying bourbon.
Oh welki, how awful...
pours vodka into jills glass :)
yum - bourbon. okay, a maker's mark manhattan, please
I will lift a gingerbeer with you jilly and lilliann. Is it really Kentucky Derby? Oh how I long for a real mint julep.
Lemon water? Jill is partying hearty tonight. Look out!
*Gets out a Derby Hat for Gran Mere*
Welki, you need to try the Headframes Spirits NeverSweat whiskey...just yummy
i think 'lemon water' is jilly's code word for tequila
Out of calories tonight molly, gorged on my Thai dinner...
LOL, not tonight welki!
Oh, shall we all wear our large hats tomorrow? I think I'll still be able to reach the keyboard.
Tequila yes...straight out of the bottle
how about a honey jack? neat?
With all of the drinks, we won't be able to reach our keyboards.
(haven't seen that whiskey - probably not up here. last impulse (stupid) purchases were jack daniel's tennesee honey and some spiced whiskey- sounded good at the time)
honey jack TO?
oops - i'll save the bottle for you, owl
jack daniels honey
we're all be peed as newts
wear a big umbrella hat -- heavy rain all day . . .
se6/18 the first pls?
maybe that's what it is - lemme look.
In any case, I need to say good night and blessings on you all for your unique talents. If you can't do anything else for humanity, be kind.
peed as newts? molly, where's that dictionary?
"Peed as newts" goes on the list next to "butterfly splats"
hi and bye, stidgmere :-)
Bye unea!
i don't like whisky :( rum, any colour, vodka, and tequila
yep, jack daniel's tennessee honey
ec6?
ec+repeat the vowel+female sibling
well we would normally say @pissed as newts' but i like to be well mannered :)
and i like that 'peed as newts' too - hahaha, when i moved to canada, i heard that people got 'pissed' on the weekend. all those angry people! it means getting drunk
please the se 6/18 is my finalword. and i am ready to leave without it
thx jilly
I haven't laughed at a chat like this in a long time. Good for the soul. : D
Now, need the ir8 plz?
i think that is what lil is saying, politely
sounds like NOT the house of representatives, owl
ohhhhh, so it is
*somewhere mr Gingrich is scratching his head *
se + double consonant and then alien
I thought all the Canadians getting pissed just had bladder control problems.
the one beofre it?
goodnight gmere. sweet dreams and tc :)
se + pull on the re** to make the horse slow down
seems like they do stock a lot of depends and poise products on the shelves - you may be right, molly
so it's kind of Wee the people in Canada?
Niters stidg...sweet sleeps!
the first one . but actually i have ceased to care if i turn in with one missing
yes, ru, that's exactly what it is
ir8 plz?
One nation, under Molson, indivisble with liberty and poutine for all.
ir8 people who ir4
i doubt i'll finish tonight - just not ~~feeling the grid~~ *lol*
ty and hello une
ir8, the quality of metal?

clue for first se6/18 pls?
i'm not feeling the grid or anyone, wish my hubby was here :)

ty and good night to those for whom it is night.
hi, une
hey welki :-)
good night To. sweet dreams and tc :)
Hi une
howdy ru :-)
se6,18. Max ****** a comedian from silent films.
hmmm still don't have it i guess
that was clued awhile back -- thought there must be a third . . . ??
aha...yes I do, just misspelled it
night lil, ty
i have 2x 6/18 which have the same cons and there is a third 6/27 which i don't have
actually there are 4xse6
soprry wht, i don't know max??
It rhymes with one of the houses of the US Congress
Also rhymes with I Left My Heart In San Francisco...Tony Be******, but no double consonant at the end
i don't know any names but thanks anyway wht
It also rhymes with the place where Julius Caeser was killed.
i don't know your clue either molly, sorry but thanks anyway.
Clue for the ec6
the N words are interesting tonight
Not to be a pedant, but it was Mack Se6t, and he was more a director than actor ..
lillian, you know the stuff they put in cream to make cheese? sounds like it - or the stuff in junket pudding mix
wht, ec+repeat vowel+female sibling
thanks Jilly.
is this the clue for the se6/27 as i have all the others :)
Welki's was.
ohhh -- it's a font type
plural of a font type - sounds sort of like the actor, omar sha***
(thought you needed a 6/18)
tyvm welki
Now where's that guy who wants to insult anyone who believes anything, and gets mad when they don't defend themselves on his terms?
Hello torgone....probably lurking...
I would answer your question Tor, but I don't have the deductive reasoning to back up what I claim to think I think.
good one.
Darn. I needed someone to explain to me how ignorant I am ..
pretty embarrassed that i tried to defend him - oh well, guess there's little opportunity for him to be inflammatory on the other site, there's only a minute between rounds
I don't know anything, including how ignorant I am.
welcome back, owl
well, apparently he's still here if you see who is online
unless he hasn't logged out
i have agita. do you think it could be from the brownie in a mug with ice cream?
i cannot lie down, my tummy is achy
i thought you went TO?
ahh, sorry to hear that TO.what's agita?
Were you drinking any of the beverages that were being passed around the chog, TO?
i did . to check email. and clicked the tab instead of closing out. tummy icky.
I don't know, chocolate never disagrees with me.
oh if only, wht. if only.
I never log out...just keeping people on their toes... ;)
i'm normally good with hot chocolate
How sweet of it, Molly!
lol jill :)
hi gremlin
I never log out either.
Hi
it doesn't dare, molly :P
hi gremlin
*ducks*
well i hope your tummy feels better soon TO
I log in and I log out.. I log .. never mind
Shake it all about?
: D
agita is a word that's not recognized by enable ..
Whick are you now ru, in or out...oh great, now I want a hamburger...
i know, tor, what's up with THAT?
"agita" works at Wordsplay, I'm fairly sure
Oh you really didn't ask him that question, did you?
she did. she really did. :/
Another word that works at Wordsplay is "nicoise" which is in the grid now.
Ruru must be out....
great...now I want a martini
(Was stuck on the last N for a while and found that one and was disappointed it wasn't the one I was missing.)
he'll pop back in in a minute :)
*hold ears* lalalalalLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
see..lol
LOL ruru
Ru, Jill had questions about your in and out behavior.
phantom: sferics
Ah.. what's that jilly?
i am going before we get another snipe by. have fun, kids.
i don't know why nicoise isn't accepted here grmlin
snipe by?
One of those borderline foreign words
gremlinn do you only play here now?
Later TO...
bye again To, i hoipe you're feeling better.sweet dreams hin and tc
I play here and Wordsplay only now
tangle's replacement is missing you
Dang!
Finally found the en6/7 combo. Another one of those words you only find in Enable.
both emotionally and your placement
Serpentine, was it?
its a salad, why can't we have a salad, when rude words are accepted
yes
it had a complete overhaul
Like Professor Snipe?
hi peach
I didn't think many people on tangleword knew me that well - I mostly played WordRacer years back
Drive by sniping
Hi there, lilliann.
tor, you can come in now :)
i likely played with you a lot
I miss the original boggle site
en6-27 please....thanks
MRBOGGLE
I just hope no one gets smote
ruru, on games.com?
um.. I play some at weboggle
Didn't know you played on games.com - different name, or different time period than me maybe
who were you there?
Yeah, anytime Tor, anytime...
I did play letterblox for a while.. but there were too many snotty kids
I liked the "only score on greenies" rule - it really helped me :)
lol molly :)
that's why I like this place.. mostly nice people and a couple of snotty kids :D
i haven't played wordplay in a long time.. I'm gonna add it to my tab list now
i'm not nice :)
I think the best scoring rule would be a mixture of word length, plus a bonus for uniqueness (maybe a little extra for "first to find" as well like tangle)
you are lillian.. and I like that you don't take crap from anyone either
<---Snotty kid
serp does that
molly will tell all my bad habits :)
Unique find bonus?
yes
since there's so many scatologists around here to begin with :D
Cool
well, first find first extra point granted
care to battle it out at words ply germ?
aww, ty ru :)
Not right now, sorry, was just here for a little chatting
grem* sorry, mac auto-correct
word play is that on fb?
But maybe I will go to Serpentine in near future, I miss the larger boards they had (at least on tangle)
www.wordsplay.com
Sorry, it's a .net ending
thanks gremlin, i'll write that down and then forget where i've put the piece of paper :)(not joking by the way)
Has po8 been clued?
After flame
po8 to mail a letter and flames
hi again. Jilly, it's a combo word.
po8 sounds like it means "after a conflagration" - didn't look it up though
*thunk*...maybe time for a break...
Is that enough clues for you Jill?
*puts on helmet*...ty all...LOL
I had thought about trying it, didn't think it could be a word...

oh sorry, read it wrong, hang on i'll see if i have the 7
bill, the po7 is like baby talk for bathroom fixture (pl)
po7/36 is to do with rhyming verse
it's a pl of the po6/24
which goes off the po4/5
Thanks Lill, looking
po4 is someone who writes rhyming verse and then go off that bill
(my po7 was po 7/32)
Got it. Thank you so much Lilliann. That's FW for me

Happy Birthday Nef!!
thanks, Jilly. How are you doing?
Doing well, how are you and DH?
oh, dear. DH has lost his hearing aid! We haven't gone anywhere; so it must be around here. We're doing well; Jilly. But I need to go help him find his hearing aid now
TTYL then nef...good luck, will say a prayer to St Anthony (Patron Saint of Lost things)
i know how that is nef, i've lost one of mine and can't find it and know it's in the house somewhere, but saying that i lost it a few months ago :)
good thing i can lip read :)
hope you find it
hey again all.
Found it! :-D It was in the bedclothes (he took a nap today and had his CPAP mask on; didn't take out the aids)
thank you St Anthony!!
Hi there stiddy (((hugs)))
yay! now he can hear you grumbling at him! ;-)
hi stid :)
And I know St. Anthony quite well, Jilly. ;-)
glad you found it nef
"Tony Tony come around, somethings lost that must be found." Never has failed me :)
I'm very relieved. He just got these tiny things in February; through the VA. He lost part of his hearing when he was in the Navy (Many years ago); but his hearing went down hill fast this past year. He wouldn't have gone to the VA except that some vet. rep. told him he should since his hearing loss started there.
glad you found it -- those little aids are expensive! But they seem to work pretty well for the folks I know
and these aids are smaller than his Aunts were (and I thought those were small!
(I was so tired of yelling at him all the time! He couldn't hear my "normal" voice anymore)
how's your sone doing tonight, stud? Improving yet?
Help with po8 please?
son
Jeewhiz, it is "after flame
combo word, Jee. the mail po** + a flames
hm. funny I didn't see that one, Jilly... *grin*
Ah...thanks.
Jilly got it right
Yep stid,, you are living that out...I definitly thought of you when I clued it...more hugs...
(((jilly))) I think we have decided on a basic house plan (Tom and I are now negotiating who gets the "office" and who gets the garage)... AND the underwriters approved the loan. So we are "good to go" now! :-D
Great news, stiddy!
yes. a pewter lining to a week that was a little rocky.
I am so glad it is resolving...you are often in my thoughts. It is good to see things turning around
glad everything is going well for you finally stid :)
it's about time, too!
and I taught 6th graders today for a little bit (LOVE that age!) and Monday I get to be in my friend's class with 5th graders. Then I will take the rest of next week "off" to start making decisions on the interior details (type of heating, lighting water) so the contractors have a good idea of what to quote.
Okay, getting down to the wire, have 67 left...going to lurk for awhile...
:-)
"see" you again soon jillyjill (also, the first instrument I replaced for myself was a tenor recorder, still plastic but nicer than the one I got when I was ten... richer tone and this time baroque fingering)
YAY! down to 100!!!!
I had baroque fingering once but workmen's comp took care of it ..
LOL tor!
good to see you -- ALSO, (because you came in tor) Grant specifically suggested he and I should learn some guitar duets together... *very happy mama look* so I have a book and will start learning again how to play as if I know what I am doing.
Guitar harmony is one of the most enjoyable sounds to my ears ..
yes, and if we ever get to the harmony bit... *discordant mama grin*
Harmony or counterpoint - whatever ..
true, I like the group Carisma (I think that's the right name) they are AMAZING.
