hi mel!
hi (sheepishly)
been a rough week. Son in hospital again. Dual diagnosis. Should be home by the end of the week.
so sorry, melon
so very sorry, mel
that sounds rough indeed
He has periods of irritation that escalate to agitation and even rage. The substance use side was hdden from me for a long time because it was happening when he was at his dad's. Accepting the magnitude of the situation was hard. I cried all weekend. But fading up is the start to amking things better.
yuk, mel. hope this is the start of a good change, though.
The facing up part is a huge step. How old is he now?
He's actually "triple dx"—learning disability, mental health issues (still no firm dx), and using. I was beginning to worry whether I could handle him at home. this, my sweet considerate kid.
21
Meds are being adjusted and the psydoc is finally on board re SSI. Finding appropriate housing is the next step, though not right away. I am so grateful for the Magnolia Clubhouse, a remarkable organization.
I would think at this point being in the hospital is a positive.
It is. It's actually good that I called 911 and that the ER didn't send him home. The hosp I wanted was full up, but where he is is good enough. I had to bang heads to get some family therapy though. Nothing like a mom who sure she's right... (;
Have never heard of them, but glad you have a solid organization to help!
They are part of what is called the Clubhouse Model for Psycho-social Rehabilitation. ICCD.org has lots of info. The first such clubhouse was Fountain House in NYC.
What is über-cool is that the membership sits on the board and helps run the place, so client and social worker are peers. They have a resale shop, a full commercial kitchen, and provide employment support. It is a beautiful thing, and changed ME as to how I view mental illness.
sounds amazing . . .
Best thing to happen to him after HS.
Fantastic! Do they have an inpatient offering?
No. They aren't a hospital; they have a clinic in a back building, but the focus is not medical, it's social. He'll be going there daily when he is discharged. They are right in Cleveland's University Circle, our "other downtown", home to Case western Reserve University, The Cleveland Orchestra, the art museum, hospitals, etc. On Magnolia drive, they occupy two former mansions. A linking atrium is being built.
babble and basenotes are two fantastic online communities for providing moral support. I luv you all (:

hi all -- here after bridge
hi jili
Hi JIlli :)
Hi Jilli
hi everyone
was there a toll involved jilli?
Hi there, flosey.
Hi flosey
hi flosey
there was a toll on my temper, ruru
oh uh oh
partner made a point of pointing out every mistake I made.
oh.. come on.. really?
and that is darned annoying - and not necessary
Time for another partner!
but she is a really good player -- it's just embarrassing.
Can you have a quiet word with her for the future?
good player with bad manners
Ignoramus... someone needs to teach her some manners.
flosey was there -- always pleasant
snap ru
That goes without saying :)
she's a retired lawyer and thinks people want her advice.
If I were the hostess, I would not invite her.
I really can't stand know-it-alls
dee, it's not a private part -- it's the local duplicate bridge club.
grr spent eons looking for the ll 5/10
Ah! So no choice of partners!
Too bad, jili. I totally agree, ru.
..other than me :D
I imagine I'll take even llonger, llooking for any ll that isn't llama
ty Dee - monkeyed first go - but wouldn't have thought to look there!
it's a plain in spain.. jilli
seen mostly from a train
glad to help, so you didn't waste all the time I did :)
*giggles at jillllli's joke*
oh yes, we play regularly with the partners we choose, if available. She isn't always like that but has a tendency to be annoying, not just to me. But thereisn't a lot of choice -- people like flosey have regular partners, such as Mr flosey or another friend.
time to have mr flosey take on this player
not likely ru
:D
Sounds like a good idea - or when you travel up there ru - even if you don't play bridge!
ty ruru -- all I have to do now is think of a plain in Spain where it doesn't rain.
Negative ending, Jilli
there'd be quite a LOUD argument if that were to happen
as long as you don't have disdain for the plain in spain where it doesn't rain
mr flosey taught her the game, lol!
maybe that's what the attorney needs flosey
lol, flosey
i'm sure he'd have the correct re-tort
I don't think so jilli, I think she became more aggressive after hearing Audrey
did I tell you who supplied "the rain in Spain fall mainly on the plain" to the movie Pygmalion, on which My Fair Ldy was based?
flosey -- I didn't mean he taught her aggression -- he taught her the fundamentals
as 6
(typo time again for me)
al6
two gn's so far
no jilli, I think she had been playing with her sister before we met her, I think she took some lessons from Jean
Is there rain in the plain in Spain?
oh -- I thought you had said she was keen because Mr f had taught her.
Only have one gn - wailing and gn ***ing of teeth!
that's the gn I have too, liz
Nope - have 2 now! Bitey insect!

ty vm, ru
back. Nobody was interested in the source of "the rain in Spain"? Well, it was my maternal grandfather and my uncle, his son. They were experts in phonetics and my unlce was the technical advisor for the movie, supplying what GBS didn't.
ah.. I thought you were kidding jilli
very interesting jilli
No kidding, ru.
May I please have a clue for sa5-16? Thanks

Thanks much, ruru.

Concrats, Rose!
Congrats* even.
awww, thanx zooz. and how is my babbler buddy today?
*waves at zooz and rose et al.* Playing in safe modus, can hardly read the chog... computer crashed :(
Well today..How are you?
Hello, Spritey!
Oh dear, Computer problems again, Sprite?
Try system restore..to an earlier date , when the computer was working fine.
yeah. Dem thing started rebooting spontaneously all of a sudden yesterday. It doesn't reboot when I am in safe mode. So probably software related. Scanning now.
tried that, and several other things. Hoping the deepscan will find something interesting.
*waves* hello sprite, my dear. and zooz, had a good day, not a good beginning, but ginger is a marvellous 'herb'. so4ed me no problems.
yay for ginger
Love fresh ginger.
you wouldn't believe it!!! i woke up at 2am, nauseated like you wouldn't believe....
ginger in moderation for me. Best of all: stem ginger in tea.
aw rose! How aweful. Indeed, ginger to the rescue then.
Was it something you ate, Rose?
have ginger tablets here, and melatonin, and magnesium...they all keep me functioning.
good stuff. What do you use the magnesium for?
nah, zooz. just the dreade fibromyalgia (FM ) playing up. after the nausea, the tremors...then the pain as each muscle cries out because of pain....*sigh*....but did manage a full day's work today.
dr recommended melatonin for me rose, was worried i would feel drowsy next day. any side effects?
sprite, use the magnesium for the tremors....it sure settles them.
(((Rose))) Does not sound very nice.
ok! Will remember and try that. The cycle you just mentioned sounds very familiar to me.
ives, no side effects. once you are awake, all is good
hiya ivesy, no, no side effects. It is the natural sleep inducer.
sprite, magnesium malate available from the US, from the vitacost site. great prices!!!
well mb give it a try, i been up since 2 and have to work all day till 7..
thanks for the link
omg ivesy, you must feel so brackish
Not a nice thought, Ivesy..you must be whacked.
yes, im just so exhausted these days. but dr says it becuz my diabeties is out of control.. started new med this week again.
awww, ives, so feel for you. i had to work until 6pm....and that was after being awake until 4am, then only dozed til 6:45am. *sigh*
oh rose i know that feeling so well
recently read on FB: "Dear sleep, I am so very sorry I didn't appreciate you when I was young. I know better now. Please come back to me."
I will not complain my pillow is lumpy again.
beat it up, zooz
fireflies, btw. Not an easy grid for me. But fun.
Congrats, Sprite!
wtg sprite!
:)
I hope the new meds will work better for you, ivesy. Do you check your blood sugar yourself?
ives, please google ...lapsurg australia. these dr's have got a good grip on the latest surgery available ...not just for obesity, but also for control of diabetes. maybe you can find a similar surgeon in the US??
WTG SPRITE!!!!
Sprite...some information on spontaneous reboot... http://tinyurl.com/3h3ozqa
will do some research.. afraid next step is insulin.and to get serious about my lifestyle. nothing changes if nothing changes:(
thanks Molly, will check it out
ives....the surgery these doctors have turned diabetics lives around.
too true, ivesy, but not easy to do. We will be rooting for you.
they have patients who no longer need insulin, and some whose cholesterol levels are under control
doubt anyone does it here.. pharm. co. would lose money cuz we wouldnt need meds anymore .im a cynic lol
lol, ives....with you hun. just check it out, okay???
surgeons over here are Ray McHenry, Chris Hensman.
i will. the new meds she has me on also is supposed to help with weight loss.. funny thing is, i lost 35 pounds over the last year and my a1c didnt improve.but its stubborn like me lol
wow ivesy, wtg, 35 pounds! Too bad it doesn't help with the diabetis.
sprite, was talking to ray mchenry today. one of the surgeries he does affects the diabetes. it's astounding!!!
okay, himself has cooked dinner for us. guess i should be appreciative, right? bbl
lol yes, enjoy!
Teehee..enjoy your meal, Rose :-)
ok going to dunk my self in coffee to wake up.. bbl have a good day/nite all
bye ivesy, good luck today *hug*
You too, Ivesy.
Ivesy makes like a doughnut and dunks. : D
ah, looks like the deep scan found something. Now I hope it is something interesting. Not just a simple tracking cookies.
lol
Good luck, Sprite.
must wait out the whole scan first, zooz... preliminary results are not visible in this scan :(
hahaha..i am a bit slow today..good one, Molly :-)
hahaha..i am a bit slow today..good one, Molly :-)

hahaha..i am a bit slow today..good one, Molly :-)
hahaha..i am a bit slow today..good one, Molly :-)
hiccup time, zooz ;)
Ooh..not sure what happened there..lol
just the daily hiccup. When stats and archives etc are updated.
Yes safe mode is extremely slow..but lets hope it is worth the wait.
indeed! From your mouth... I have no freakin' idea what else to try if this fails.
ok, off to see if I can fix it. Bye :)
Good luck, Spritey!

Mornin' Babblefolksen
Hi Bichon :)
hello everyone :)
hi Annie
Hi Annie :)
Hi Liz and bichon
Something strange is going to happen here tomorrow
It's going to rain. I can't remember the last time that happened
well needed rain
Really? Do you live in a desert area?
no, we get, usually about 36" of rain a year. It has been a drought.
In that case I hope the forecasters are right.
This time of year the grass grows real fast and everything is very lush
Is rain seasonal for you? Here the summer is our wet season.
I am intoxicated by all the lush green at this time of year. It's just gorgeous.
No, we get rain all year round, even in the summer. We don't have a Mediterranean climate
I used to love the bright greens of grass and new leaves in Spring in the UK.
I'm just hoping this isn't the "new normal"
25 left. Time to call it a day for babble. Back tomorrow to finish. Enjoy your days, everyone :)
hi all
rain bichon? hooray!
hi mael
hi annie, good morning
Good day to all.

Plural of middle age

Well, if you count the whole decade as middle aged, that gets you to 98 : D
my grandma lived to be 107, 98 is for spring chickens ;)
Well, as they say, may you live as long as you want to, and want to as long as you live. : )
truer words were never spoken, molly
great expression molly! And Good morning, dear friends
I look forward to being a spry old woman, up to no good. : D
Trif, I thought of you and Primo 2 days ago when I passed a street called Tr***** Lane.
thanks scrabbler!
glase
Not a word. Sorry. I prefer to leave free clues.
its okay love - god knows, we have ALL done that!
spry old women make the world go round
so do clues :)
Trif, I saw and article about the guy at the Bruins game with the "Toronto Stronger" sign. Some people are just ignorant and insensitive.
*an article
the ta 4.5 always makes me chuckle....when I was in college, in a chemistry class, the prof told us to add a "ta*" of sodium to a formula. One of the foreign students was puzzled at the word, and asked him how much a ta* was. The prof told him it was "1 over a sh*tload" which of course caused an uproar of laughter
Yes, molly, that was indeed unfortunate
: D Must remember that definition of ta*
:)
so, I gave roller blading a try on sunday....and managed to fall in SPECTACULAR fashion....what is it about falling that is so ego bruising?
oh carp = - pb for me, sorry....
I did that last summer, with helmet and full pads. Landed on my side. I shouted to the neighborhood, "Just testing out my protective gear, folks."

"ty mael,and ty everyone
thanks Mixi
:( I did not know you had a Mac
It was about a two guys who work in a car dealership, across from a strip bar. My favorite line: "Look at the strip club! It's packed! It's 10:30 in te morning! The girl is going to be onstage, shaking it with a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee in her hand!"
nbt
the visual just SLAYED me
way to go Mixi
one babbler told me that if i make it to 50 unscathed then i never have to grow up,so here i am!!
Yes. I also have a laptop that is windows based. I will try it on there later today. I am going to mom and dads today
Crossy, you are 50?

Good for you, mixi!
Leaving for now. HAGD everyone!
bye mimi!
Yay Mixi!
How wonderful to hear that the three young ladies that went missing over decade ago in America have been found safe.
Isn't that an amazing story? I shudder to think what they have been through.
Me too, Molly..i know one of the young ladies has a child of 6 now..so the news has reported.
I'm so tired of the sick, demented twists who perpetrate this kind of horror on people.
nick kristof said their families must be relieved. i'm not sure relief is the right word when you consider the psychological damage they surely have.
whoops i was an hour late to that conversation!
I guess anything is better than dead, but some things...not much.
really observant neighbors huh?
my officemate once had someone break into a hotel room she was sleeping in, and considered jumping out the window to her death rather than be raped. (turned out it was a little old woman thief so it was fine)
People pay so little attention to their surroundings these days. It's sad.
honestly though, if they were quiet usually, what were the neighbors supposed to notice?
well.. I hope they throw a hefty jail sentence for those jerks
i think if you psychologically scar someone for life, you should get life in prison.
rape, child abuse, etc
I concur
i don't know why the sentences for these things can be lighter than i think they should be when on the other hand we have ridiculously overdone sentences for drug possession
next to P's, S's are the worst
this grid is a tad evil imho
I am missing two ro's......... not sure which ones though
got them\
sometimes it just takes saying you need them in chat
aka "pulling a peri" :))
right although 10s Gu was so vague that it only VERGED on pulling a peri
one day i hope to be as famous as our peri:)
better get writing that hit single then
i hope to do something earth shattering with bacon that will change the planet
Good luck with that. It looks like everything that can be done with bacon has been done...twice.
seems so:((
Good morning all.
howdy,judi
Was at a resturant the other night. They offered bacon Pop Rocks as part of a dessert.
I didn't know they still made Pop Rocks.
lol
*secretly loves Pop Rocks*
crossy secretly loves that purple thrills gum they used to make and you can still find every once in a while
I am so grossed out. There are recipes on the internet for Bacon Pixie Stix.
lol
Don't recall ever seeing purple thrills gum.
yes indeed, judi, was famous for being the gum that tastes like soap:)
Ew
Was that just a Canadian thing?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrills
Why would anyone want to chew something that tastes like soap? Yeech.
was not really soap,as the article will tell you.dunno, was a kid thing
seems the rosewater additive gave this impression to some
Big Buddy Grape Flavor...a big wad of gun shaped like a ruler. Now that was good grape gum.
YAY, Big Buddy! Now that I remember.
good lord,we alos chewed piles of various gums.it is a wonder we have any teeth left
*teeth rot just thinking about it*
I never understood the liking for Beeman Gum that tasted like cloves.
have seen that gum up here, but it is rare
I think it was one of those things that hid the smell of alcohol during prohibition or some such.
we did not have that problem:)))
Somewhere there is a website that features the grossest candy and gum ever created. Can't remember the name of it, of course.
The Old Time Candy site is pretty cool. They even sell age appropriate gift boxes.
That is a cool site. Dangerous, but cool.
Well, this grid is a drag (again). I'm home taking care of a sick kitty. So, I guess I'll go do some chores and hope there isn't any more kitty messes to clean up. Poor little thing.

Contrary to what you will find when you click on the ?...the first fa4 means "long ago" in Gaelic and is the traditional start to Gaelic faerie stories. It's also the name of a chain of great Irish bars. : D
i love the one here in DC< Molly. :)
I've only been to the one in Annapolis, but I think they are all basically the same, give or take.
basically, yes. i think ive been to both. and for that matter, ive also been to the irish channel here in DC and the one in crofton.
fa4 is also a dance from Portugal related to, but distinct from, flamenco
Eva gets around : D
i do. i like my irish bars. ;)
I keep dreaming that they will open a Fa4 in Gaithersburg. But Irish bars never seem to do well there.
Good Afternoon, Everyone! What a beautiful day it is! (so why am I sitting here online??)
I guess everyone went outside! :-)
howdy nef.crossy is here;) making some home mad spagetti sauce for tonight
mona
i'm here! watching men's tennis in Madrid
sorry. not a word.
add a letter for a word, then plural
Thanks, Une :-)
yw :-)
hi everyone, does anyone have a clue for fo6 please?
sorry, flossy, I don't have it but am looking now
thanks Nef

thanks Une
thanks again, Une! :-)
yw!
gonads
gonad
indeed LOL
sorry. on phone; going to PB now
flosey, your icon looks like my iris that smell like grapes :-)
could I have a hint for the fo 6, what does it mean? pls
interesting Une, I didn't realize iris had a smell
yep . . . and my yellow ones are really pretty but stinky :-)
means strong, powerful, firm,
I didn't realize they had a smell either
fo4 strong + I am you are he **
I tried growing them here but something must have eaten the root
the ones I have from my grandmother's garden smell very sweet
all I have left is a picture of 2 beautiful pink blooms - must look for it
yes, Irises get a grub. You have to dig up the tuber and soak it in a mild bleach solution to kill the grubs and then replant
they like to sit on top of the soil and bake in the sun
I mostly like the Japanese Irises
like them too!
mine are in too much shade
ah, then, they are an open invitation to whatever finds the root tasty
:-)
hi all. I have just discoverd lemon curd and I love it.
Also Hagan-Daz is making gelato. I tried the limencello. it is delish.
I have never had any problems with my Japanes Irises. They like sun, but I haven't experienced grubs. They multiply, so I have them all over the place
lemon curd is fabulous!!
indeed! I have just used it on raisin toast. what do you use it on Une?
I bought it at Trader Joes
it would be good with puffed pastry
Peri, try putting lemon curd on top of your blueberry muffins before you bake them.
it's very easy to make yourself
really, I would not have thought of that, Molls
really, flosey. I must try to make it then
I could give it as a gift. a friend just moved into a new apt
or I could keep it for my self :-)
I ventured out of my comfort zone in collage class and made one that was not blue. this one has oranges, reds and some yellow
the last class is next week.
recipe in my bio, and btw, Joan C was also a babbler, unfortunately died a few years ago - miss her very much, was also a bridge partner
Link to Martha Stewart's recipe for Lemon Curd...which is similar to the one I use: http://tinyurl.com/7u2ure4
thanks for the info. will check them out
Afternoon all. Stats for the U's please?

Eat Your Citrus - Don't Get Scurvy
I think the babble site was down for a while..as i could not get on for a while.
This place has been quirky ever since the server switch.
Thats true.
Maybe someone is not tipping their server
Hmmm, must be a cultural thing. I've heard of tipping cows but it's just cruel to do that to waiters
Always tip your server. Otherwise you get weak drinks and warm beer.
Boy howdy Tor, let's go on out and tip us some cows.
Yee haw!
buggie means tipping over a sleeping cow as tipping means different things :)
Hello, Torgone & Lilliann :-)
by the way buggie, that's a beautiful cat, may need a manicure :)
And we are just joking L. : P
hi zoom.
i know molly, but i didn't know whether you knew about cow tipping as i didn't, i just look it up :D
anyway, i'm shutting my gob and going back to lurke mode as there is a craft programme with martha stewart things on and i want to know how to use my new products i've treated myself to
Drive by L
am back :) i thought cow tipping was getting rid of dead cows illegally :) back to lurk mode
thanks lilliann, he loves to be admired :)
he certainly looks like he does buggie.i take it he doesn't get spoilt much :)
Spoilt? Oh never. Nope. No I said. Oh sheesh I can't resist...
And fireworks for me.
well done, I'n about to give up
Any clues needed before i go anyone?
I love how L keeps popping in and out. She's like Jill. : D
Thanks, Buggie :-)
Ok..take care, All...*poof*
am back.sorry i missed giving congrats to zoom
also bummed out to miss seeing zoom - hey all!
you would never tell buggie , much..lol
hi stid:) if i ignore you it's nowt personal, i'm just enthralled in a craft programme in between getting words
Afternoon all! ((Lilliann)) ((stiddy))
Special ((hugs)) to Molly
so I read... I am looking at ideas for flooring... :-) and hoping I can afford to do the things I want to do with my home!
hey jilly!
hugs to stid and all here!
(((saanich!))) we finally got some sun through the "morning" clouds about an hour ago. How about you?
sunny but alittle cooler. really hard on the little seedlings. spirits raised though, we needed some sun.
the hot of yesterday was pretty intense. I should go to the house and water this evening, I think. I was too tired yesterday to make the trek out.
i was going to give hugs to jill but she gave special ones to molly, so now i'm sulking!
hi saani
special hugs lillian!
(((special hugs to lilliann)))
rofl snap, saanich!
We have your weather today Stid, 83 degrees. Neve have seen the lawn drying up in May. Does not hold positive for fire season..
ty saani and stid, now i feel special :)
LOL, actually Lilliann, was sort of responding to her post about me...
Baby : P
but you ARE special!
mmmm, you can't take it back now jill
we have a huge wildfire right now, jilly -- my allergies are in full force today.
pfft to molly
Baby : P
wildfires already stid? I like the day weather but wish it would rain in the nights
Hello miss molly ;)
Dang stiddy, only heard about the fires in CA...
about 60 acres in the closest one, stanch. We don't normally have to worry about such things until July or August
*Quickly waves hi to Jill before she pops out again*
repeating yourself...really, like you don't get heard the first time molly :)
THAT is scary news. I also live in the woods and each dry days brings anxieties.
*Hands little satin sulky pillows to L*
well, i hope the wild fire stays away :)
sorry, I was babbling before I increased my font size. dumb spellcheck working against me again...
I hope so too lilliann -- the wind shifted a few hours ago so it's not as awful as it was.
Because we are still getting dewy mornings, many out here are fooled. all they have to do is dig an inch and it's bone-dry. I have prepared evacuation plans now for years. Involves boats and a lot of friends!
"throwing sulky pillows back but keeping one as i like the colour and feel "
okay, my last blank tile is that B... any nudges for me?
yes, the soils are quite dry, and usually they still clump and sog until mid-june around here
did you get br 4/7?
be 5/14, bh 4/8, 5/18, dr 4/
thanks phand and saanich!
the be
i have bh4 and 5 which is b and wooden structure
got them all!
I like the champagne br, which I think means "dry"
good for you!
that's brut isn't it stid?
you are right stid! A little champers would be lovely right now
*gently puts lilliann in PB with choclits*
ah yes, with strawberries in it... my strawberries are blooming already!
My strawberries are not coming back well ...*heavy sigh*
i thought you meant the bh was dry for champagne..lol i forgot the br was in the grid.oh well, i'll get myself cosy and stuff myself full and drink dry champagne :)
wonder why not, jilly -- have they been in the same place a long time? they can deplete the micronutrients after a while.
Ursh is in da grid!
No stiddy, put the bed in 2 years ago...
Next year, I will test our garden soil again. It was time already, but that's on hold for now. Too many plants heeled in! you should have seen how the bluebells took off after I put them in the lovely loamy veggie beds.
my strawberries are growing but now flowering yet but alot of the trees around us don't even have leaves on yet.apparently we are atleast 4 weeks behind with our plants and trees
oh, probably not that then -- do you notice any mold or discoloration around the leaves? there is a slime mold that sometimes attacks the strawberries around here.
I just checked our local pick your own farm says strawberries should be ready to pick 5/20
I was hoping for sooner than that...
i take my strawberries out every year and get rid of all the dead leaves and then re-plant them in fresh compost
May be an issue of dryness like everything else...just NOT used to having to water so early in season
Probably due to the chillier than normal Spring here, Phan.
mmmm. that would be so nice to have to memorial day over sponge cake, with home-made ice cream... *drifts into dream land*
yes, I imaginee.
At risk of living up to Molly's description of me...heading out to run downtown. Back in a bit...nbt/nbs....bbl *poof*
I want to make strawberry jam for my nursing instructors to give as a thank you gift at graduation which is 5/23...
bye jill, tc hin(hugs)
Whooosh...that was Jill, ladies and gentlemen.
later jilly!
they will love that -- what a thoughtful present!
there is a toddler throwing an insistent tantrum in the next building over... I think it's nap time. LOL for the parent, perhaps, if not for the kid!
yes, but that really puts a rush on things, That whole week I have to be at school all day for NCLEX review. I am going to have to ask someone to pick for me.
nursing continuing license exam? *curious about acronym*
have to look it up
National Council liscensure exam
Oh wow, I wish I could get someone to pick for me. My strawberry picking days are behind me. Too much wear and tear on the back.
agreed. I have a neighbor that might be willing, I also have my daughter in town from San Diego for a visit, maybe she will do it.
ah. yes, that's going to be intense, I am sure - hopefully though the review will feel very simple because you are that prepared and brilliant. "-)
I get fresh strawberries from the farmer's markets when they are in season.
hopefully! :^)
But to make the quantity of jam I need to make, that would be too pricey. Picking your own is a good bit cheaper.
i'll lob you some of mine over when they grow molly, along with my homegrown raspberries, bluberries and blue berries, so i'd take cover and also wear protective clothing from staining :P
"fatose" every dieter's worst nightmare?
*blackcurrants
I wish I could see your lovely garden, lilliann!
*Holds umbrella (that's brolly for you L) upside down to catch berries*
my back garden doesn't look so lovely as i can't get into it with my chair now so hopefully this year sometime i'll be able to get it levelled for me so i can have planters i can reach.normally alot of my fruit goes to the birds as i ask my daughter to pick them but she doesn't.so i now grow alot of fruit and veg in tubs in the front yard as i can get around that
Raised beds would be perfect for you L. Maybe your husband can build you some.
you need the key to the secret garden, lilliann -- where you will find a swing and magical plants just waiting for your hand to bring them back to life. :-) and raised beds for planting wouldn't hurt! LOL
and i love the fact that now i can get blue currant and rasperries that grow in tubs, so i'm going to have to treat myself this year to some. i have apple/pear and plum miniature trees in pots but didn't get any fruit last year so hopefully this year but with our bad winter i'm not holding out for much
I hope the trees in the pots made it through... I really love my fruit trees.
he's never here molly so he did say last year that we'd get someone in to re-do the garden for me. i want to keep some grass and the rest will have to be on 3 levels with ramps and raised beds all around. i need to design what i want
hi all, LTNS!
I would love to have fruit trees.
Okay, down to 69 and must go look at the next item on my list... have a lovely evening/day all! *poof*
I have a quince bush, but the fruit never really forms. Only occasionally do they form
hi gwen and peri
bye stid and tc hin
hi bichon
I've seen some really nice raised bed gardens and they are not hard to build, for someone who is mildly handy. I hope you get yours, L.
my next door neighbours have grapes growing in there conservatory.they said earlier today that when they were away the leaves dried up a bit so when they came back, there were loads of dead leaves on the wooden floor, but they have loads of grapes growing now. they have seeds but they are small and really sweet. they are lovely
first sa5 pls
sa5.... : ( + most of what you do when you sing with your mouth shut
hubby did build me one years ago out of wood we had left over, it's rotted now.i have a lovely summer house but it is a children one, my f.i.l bought it when the bairn was little but it needs repainting and i can't get around it and it's on decking but alot of it rotted even though it shouldn't have as it had a 25 year guarantee and hubby treated it every year
I found a sa5/18, was that the one you were cluing, Molls?
ty molly
it wasn't.. I got the first sa6, thanks Molls
the first sa5 even
i just found this: sa + a big wad of chewing ***
Hello again all...
thank you BDG!
(takes a bow) 8-)
blimey, that was quick jill :)
I live in a small town...
Jill and John Mellencamp
nbt 4 me
WTG BDG!!
LOL molly
aw, gee, thanks
hi gwen
that P is getting on my nerves
Hi again everyone. I see I've missed stid again.
hi there bookwomen! LTNS
LTNS = Long time no see
been busy building a book ark down here.
Gwen, do you need stats for that P?
oh, dear, flood expected?
or clues, even?
nef, i have a p4 spanish coin and p4 yiddish urine, what else?
i did say hi gwen. i just didn't know what ltns meant until molly just wrote it
gwen do you still play farmville?
ps (from the Bible)
I had to look it up L. I don't use internet abbreviations.
sorry, ps 5/14
so far we are OK but it feels like it has been raining for days. I would like to see the sun sometime.
sorry, BW, the sun is in michigan and we're keeping it LOL
I'm a scatterbrain today; just can't settle in to doing anything for any length of time.
ty nef, looking
Nef, I think there is only one book of the Bible that starts with ps : D
ah, got it. seems easy once you know what it is 8-)
yep, but there are lots of ps'es in it! :-)
(THAT didn't look right!
glad to hear you're okay BW, and all your books are safe, too
ty nef
yw, lilli
we had winter up until about 2 weeks ago, and now we are having summer. spring did not happen LOL
sorry gwen, i'm getting sidetracked but glad you're ok and that your books are safe. are you brain washing us or something:)
we are all in that same boat gwen
we are still having winter for us. still waiting for summer or spring. just soggy and cold
pretty much the same here, Gwen; except the winter lasted til last Friday and Summer started on Monday (the weekend was just so-so
lillian, yup, my books are fine, thanks 8-)
firewords. this grid has some strange words
where are you bw?
We have Spring here. Haven't had any summer temperatures yet.
saying that, we've just had 3 days of nice weather and now it's going to rain and be cloudy and cold again
WooT WooT WooT BW!!
egad, you're fast, BW! congrats! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
glad to hear it gwen :)
wtg BW!
we are in alabama
YAY, bookwomen!!! WTG!!!
Not sure what part of Michigan you are in Gwen, but my friend near Detroit says it's only been in the 60s and 70s.
Wow, we're in MN and we had 5 inches of snow 8 days ago.
we always assume the southern states have plenty of warm weather, but i suppose you're up in the mountains maybe?
and it's been 80 (F) todayhere
i've been getting confused with BW and BDG :)
i'm near detroit. we had one winter-coat day followed by 80 degrees (F), but i don't remember if that was last week or the week before
no we are supposed to be in the Sunny South but it is eluding us now.
found the 7, woot
I was still wering my winter coat to church on Sunday (It's a leather jacket; so that wasn't too weird; espcially since the kid next to me was in shorts and flip flops)
lol nef
we like to joke that 50s is t-shirt weather, but not for me
Well I am off to get under the covers and read/nap Good night everyone. good luck on the grid it is a tricky one.
SEe you later BDG...cuddle away!
night, BW
I am not fooling: once the temp gets above 40 or so here; kids stop wearing their winter coats. I've seen kids going to school in just their T shirts for over 3 months now
kids these days . . . lol
Sorry Nef, but that is just abnormal. And I see it here too. My next door neighbor wears shorts all year round. Even when it's in the 20's.
When my kids were young; I insisted that they wear their jackets til the temp was above 60 degrees (F). They always complained I was the Only Mom who did that
You weren't, I did too.
Mine tried to pull that on me too nef
LOL! We just didn't live close enough I guess. ;-)
i assume the "only mom" comment came from a brief survey of 2 or 3 friends, not a scientific sample LOL
They had light jackets for that kind of weather though.
I would tell them, "I used to think I had the meanest mother in the world...I was wrong...YOU do."
yeah; I didn't make them wear heavy winter jackets that long.
Wonderful ine, Jilly (wish I'd heard it before now!)
ga6 plz?
Parents these days are rarely home when their kids leave for school, let alone monitor what they wear on school days. Sad.
nm
ga 4/6 + you and me together
true.
but ty nef
i tell the bairn to put a coat on when it is cold and she tells me, 2you're cold mam, not me". my huuby is the same, he wears short sleeved shirts and t/shirts all year round and even goes out in one when it snow!!
On the other hand, I used to roll up my skirts after I left the house...some things just really don't change
I went to Catholic school. I was the Queen Of The Skirt rollers.
Again, sorry but going out in the snow in a short sleeved shirt is not normal.
LOL...we would have been fast chums Molly!!
i used to have a different skirt on under the one i was suppose to wear but change my shoes up the road.my mam knew about my shoes, as if she got me before i went out the door she'd ask to look in my bag. after that i left them in my locker.she never knew about the skirt though :)
all the best people are not normal LOL
he's always hot molly.what can i say, he's 'hotstuff' lol
exactly gwen
Okay, must forage edibles for supper. 75 left...slowly crawling through grid...bfn
*Cues up Donna Summer*
I really was a good kid! Didn't DARE to disobey! (My aunt was County Supt. of schools, and I swear she could see us in our classrooms from her office window across the street. She knew what we did before the nuns called to tell what naughty thing my older sister did all the time
peter jackson used to go out in all kinds of weather wearing shorts. and he makes great movies. 8-)
and i went to an all girls school :) i just didn't want to get picked on plus i wanted to look fashionable.my mam always told me that i could have any clothes/shoes i wanted out of school but in school it had to be what she chose...i din't mind that but her choice was awful!!
i like that song :)
That's okay Nef. I did enough disobeying for the both of us. : P
thanks, Molly!
me too nef:)
I need to leave for a while now; Happy Babbling, Everyone! Dh, and some friends and I are going to go play Bingo!
<poof>
hey, i found that sa5 that someone was asking about
'house'! enjoy nef.tc
The first one? Already clued.
yep, the first one
i'm missing 2x sa6's if you have them gwen.i have the pl of the first sa5
i just found this: sa6, a pinkish edible fishie
Okay now I'm laughing about Nef playing Bingo. As part of a running joke on another board, I have a vast collection of "Bingo lady" images. : D
and this one: sa + british conservative (spelled wrong)
ty for both gwen
i need the sa6,21 just before the edible mineral
it's a fish, book
oh, gee, never mind, that's the pink fishie
that's the fish gwen
hi kje
forgot to refresh my word list (grins sheepishly)
rofl, sorry, but i've never seen someone clue something and then ask for it themselves :)
hello
I know, I thought that was funny too. : D
no joke, i'm a bit under the weather, that's my excuse and i'm stickin' to it 8-)
sorry, you're under the weather and hope you feel beter soon but you still made me laugh :)
*better
the worst part is over, i think, thanks
glad to heat it
hear it even
no, just defrost it lol
Does anyone have a clue for the sa6/21...ahahahaha!
!!!!
lmao :0
Watch...someone will clue it. : D : D
stop it...i'm crying! :0
it's a pink fishie
is it a hawaiian goose? lolol
:)
that wasn't me, that was my twin :)
Pink fish...hmm...don't know of any pink fish. *Thinking*
snigger
there are pink fish??
Nemo!!! Oh wait, he's orange.
this fish is poison!
One fish, two fish, pink fish, blue fish
Love this fish...and it's called something entirely different when eaten with cream cheese on a bagel.
To me, they are more orange than pink.
See, told ya. : P
when we were on holiday in egypt a few years ago.the bairn caught a puffer fish and then when it was brought on board the boat it puffed up and the guy said i'll put it back, so he dived in the water with it and i wondered why he had a knife, then he came back and said it swam away and when i said'why did you have a knife' he said i had to pop it so the air would come out...so we were all happy, thinking that this fish swam away and then after wards my hubby said to me'what do you think he did with the knife, he can't pop a fish without killing it'. ! the man didn't want to say anything in fornt of the bairn
ewwwwww
I second that ewwww!
i felt upset and so stupid, thinking, well i didn't think he could :) apparently once puffer fish puff out they will die. i don't know how true that is
poor little (and/or inflated) fish!
Nope, not true, lilliann...they can puff up and deflate over and over.
hi mimi
Hello, dear.
it's bees that die when they sting, so they can only sting once
That is about as funny as a tourist like friend of ours telling us that they saw the "chimney sweeps" on top of The White House.
i thought so mimi, but this fish had puffed out so much and these men do fishing trips every day of their lives so maybe it had puffed too much and that was the best thing to do
Or maybe he just didn't want to kill the fish in front of the little girl L.
Sorry, lil, but they were either lying or stupid...killed it for no good reason...hate that.
maybe, but he never brought it back up to the surface, unless he has a hid-e-hole under the see full of dead fish
no, he never told us he'd killed it. he said it swam away
maybe he was lying about "popping" the fish, hoping you were an ignorant tourist
Sure L, sure. You just keep believing that happy, shiny story. : P
it was my husband that told me he's killed it
well, i like to live in a shiny rainbowy world :)
<---Has some swamp land in Florida she want's to sell L
i haven't traveled much but there are people who mess with tourists and i've met them LOL
aye, i'd buy snow off the blooming eskimos! glad i have my husband as he's no fool :0
my hubby always knows when someone is talking crap
*Hands L her sparkly rose colored glasses*
The puffers get even sometimes, though, when the Japanese don't prepare them properly and someone dies because they're poisonous. It's considered a delicacy called fugu....stupid, in my opinion, to risk that.
then there was the summer camp counsellor who picked up an operculum and said it was a fish scale . . .
(yes, i know my opercula)
when we've been to egypt before there were 2 animation guys who were egyptian and one said he was from mexico and the other said he was from jamaica.i didn't believe them but alot of women did. if they were mexican or jamaican they would have been better off staying in those countries than trying to work in egypt
L, let me forward you the email I just got that was from "Ned" that said, "I think which I am dying and would want to give you my estate. Click on the link below."
no, you want a job in animation these days you go to korea
well, i'm not that gullible molly.no-one gives anything away for free
i once made one hilarious fake email out of all the worst parts of all the scam emails i got within a week. great time waster that was lol
i just like to think the best of people, but i'm not so stupid, i normally know when someone is taking the pi**, but sometimes some stories can be plausible and i suppose it also depends on what mood i'm in and whether i'm listening or not :)
Sadly, the really slick talkers can fool just about anyone. As in the Nancyboy scam.
Very lovely quality to have, lil.
i take it you kept it for yopurself gwen and not sent it out
Must go for now. Hugs all around.
yes molly, i think alot of us learnt from that
no, i haven't sent it out, but i could post it on my profile here . . . hmmmm . . .
it is mimi but not so much now :)
bye mimi, tc
Gwen, if you post it in your profile here, and include a PayPal address, you could make some serious money. : D
yes, that would be good gwen, so we can see how many would believe it.i'll have to remind myself that it isn't true though as with my memory i'd forget :)
Hey, I'm gullible, too...when I first came to Babble I actually believed Molly was 6.
See, L will send you your first 50 bucks.
i must admit, i can't believe people would send money.i never send money
okay, i am pasting the horrifying thing into my profile. just a sec
i might say i would, but i never do
Oh you should have heard the sob story L. It was enough to make a cynic weep.
it looks good to others if you say you'll send money but i'm not that gullible. i only send to proper charities and i know they are proper registered ones
i never knew about the money side of it molly. i must have totally missed that
The thing is, you never know about what you hear on the internet. People can make things up and get you to believe just about anything, if you are so inclined. Unfortunate, but true.
until in read it on here recently
hi there, spam posted
i know.i'm trying to drum that into the bairn's head.she's not allowed on any chat rooms or have her own fb account even though alot of her friends do.i let her play some of my games on fb but i'm always around and see what she's upto.maybe i'm mooly coddling her too much but i've watched the news too many times with bairns gone missing and then found dead when they've been speaking to people their own age apparently but not
Clerification...ahahahaha!
Back again ;)
You keep right on doing what you're doing L. Too bad more parents don't do that.
it's wise to be cautious about internet sharing
I just found it sad that this group of mostly nice people got taken when it came to donating money. And there was no way to say anything about it, because the person in question was a big favorite here.
uno
people will aswell gwen. i'm not THAT gullible. it's the same as when you get the lottery letters from spain that you've won some moeny and give your bank details so thay can put it into your account.....mmmm,ok...NOT i've never done the spanish lottery and send me a cheque
wb jill...again...lol :0
i must admit, i couldn't believe who was behind it
i missed what you're talking about. who scammed money from babblers???
i'll let molly explain gwen, she's better at it
F I R E W O R K S a t l a s t
yay!wtg gwen!! :)
Short version: A former poster here was posting woe is me stories about family financial problems. Another poster said "I am raising money for her, to donate, here is a PayPal address". Alas. the poster lived in a country that has US currency exchange issues. So people started sending checks to the "collector". The PayPal money went through (according to the story) but the checks did not. So anyone who sent a check to the collector lost their money. Some to the tune of some big bucks.
egad. are you unwilling to share names?
Lets just leave it at that for now.
WooT WooT WooT BDG!!
(i was around for the entire nancyboy episode, is this related?)
No, not at all related to the Nancyboy thing.
all teh same, eeesh.
well, i'm behind on my bills, maybe . . . (NO!)
hi all. any clues for the 7 or the sixes?
fo7, it's a decade
well, i'm gonna fly, gettin' hungry
ty got it. great clue.
how about some sixes? i have one:do. otherwise no sixes
Sending a big fat check to helpbookdoctorgwen.com : D
do you know what, years ago, when i first got bad and was getting benefit, i didn't get alot and it didn't pay for all the bills i had or debt but i sorted it out with the companies and i made sure my cats got fed and i lived off what i had in my cupboard which wasn't alot and used to live off beans on toast but i never asked anyone for a penny, not even my family.good thing theyr'e not reading this. i could never scam anyone for myself
in fact, i couldn't scam anyone, period, i'd prefer to starve
bye gwen, it's been lovely seeing you again, tc hin
hi mkg
Many of us have had our times of financial difficulty. Places like this, are not places to collect money for people. Especially only a "chosen few".
hi lilli
al6=al+a do4/5 (take your do4/5 of medicine)
any clues for sixes?
ty got it.
more please. keep em comin
fo6= drop a vowel from the 7
can you give me my last 76 then mkg please.you give me what you ahve and i'll give you mine :)
ga6=the ga4/4 (ga**bladder)+group
ty jill
: D L
go6=pl the 5 before it (sexual organ)
I was hoping someone could clue all 103 of the 4 letter words. : D
ty didnt have the 5 either
ty for fo. got it.
i'm sick of drinking tonic water now(slim line) i've just finished my 5th litre bottle. i'm surprised i'm not burping for england, but it's better than drinking wine i suppose
lol molly :)
Really, are you really sure?
Have 84 of them molly...want the rest?
no, i'd prefer a glass of wine but i'm trying to be good and 'my body is a temple', plus it had gone 1.30 am :)
i only have 61 so can you give me the 23 i don't have, but i'm not giving you any letters, you'll just have to guess jill :0
They had a breakfast for Nurses Week, most of my allotted 1200 calories went there...*sigh* sipping on lemon water will be it for me tonight...
Your body is a temple and you are worshiping it with tonic water??
WooT WooT WooT...Jill is up to 1200 calories. Livin' the high life!
LOL lilliann *puts on her Carnac the Magnificent hat*
Cannot believe sl5/16 is a real word... *Pats monkeys on head*
i'm having 1200 calories aswell but it's been slipping a bit lately
i thought that too jill about the sl5/6
It is very easy to do lilliann, way too easy...
well, tonic water is better than wine and vodka, but i know what i'd prefer
i hate plain water but will drink sparkling with a slice of lemon but tonic water has more of a tast even though it has more calories
*lifts lemon water toast to lilliann*
Changing how you eat or drink is a lot like changing anything else. The more you focus on what you are "not having" the harder it is. Just a thought.
clinks glasses with jill
i use to like a glass of wine every night, now i limit it to the weekend, so it is something to look for ward to so i'm not bothered about not having it every night
su6?
the last couple of weks though, i've changed from the 1200 calories to eat what i want but i've had a day or 2 of basically detoxing and just having about500/600 calories a day where i've drunk loads of water and eaten little bits throughout the day and i must admit i've felt better for it.
i don't have it yet, sorry, shirlock
su6=same as an arab prince but change last vowel to single hump
It's martini time at my house now! Here's to y'all.
but not 2 days in a row
Gotta love those single humps.
clinks lemon glass water with mimi cat
I only vaguely remember single humps now, Molly......
ty jill
{{Jilly}}
Lemon glass water...a sure sign that lemon water is a sub for straight up gin. : D
i was going to say something there mimi, but someone's bound to come in and say something!!:)
((mimi)), sorry I haven't been in contact via email
i used to like martini rosso but that is too swet for me now
Whenever you can, dear. No hurt feelings here.
my spelling tonight/morning is crap as normal
it wasn't nasty but just dirty minded :)
*Fixes a low cal mushy peas smoothie for L*
ignoring molly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\n!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\n!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\n!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great, now you broke the chat.
Oh, Lil, my new favorite food is from a British-themed fish and chips place....bubble and squeak---LOVE IT.
:)
<----!!FW!!
Yay for Jilly!!!
bubble and squeak. you can't beat it, but not from a chippie.is it deep fried??
YAY! wtg jill :)
we don't normally get bubble and squeak from a fish shop
They do fry theirs but it's really good.
Kind of a bubble and squeak potato pancake.
do it yourself mimi
Too much trouble for me...they put cabbage and peas in theirs.
Back to peas. Love it. : P
mash tatties, with any left over veg that has been cooked and mash it together.put a bit of oil in a pan and then put the mixture in and squash it flat until the bottom has got brown, my hubby then puts chees on the top and puts under the grill
First it was fish and now veggies and beverages. Such a homey bunch!
*Waits for another 100 ! post from L*
but we also fry onions and put them in, but we fry them until it is caramelized, as in burnt. proper bubble and squeek is green cabbage and tatties but we all add different things to it
Love caramelized onions..use them a lot.
it's a filling supper, lunch whatever you want, but you could also have some meat or fish and just have a little helping of it
OK--now I'm getting hungry! Leaving for a bit. Hugs.
i'm just ignoring molly :)
bfn mimi
Oh sure, break the chat and then ignore me. : P
Can't expect much from her, lil...she's only 6...
i kinow mimi, i'm trying to be patient! lol
Gotta watch what we put in our profile....
my typing sucks!!...now waiting for a reply from molly :)
Indeed. The 6 thing has gotten way too much attention.
*poke poke poke*
I'm going to start saying I'm 90 so people will again tell me how good I look for my age.
YOu don't look a day over 80! ;)
Also, Rule #17 clearly states what you can and cannot post in your profile. I always forget that.
hi everyone :)
OK, Jilly, now I need another martini! Hi and bye {smores} Poof.
#17..how many damn rules are there?
{mimi}
RUle #17?? I may be in violation
hi smores :)
18 at last count. Waiting for an amendment.
guess I probably broke one asking that huh?
hey lilli :)
bye mimi, tc hin
i'm now 21 again :)
:)
Good for you L. But be prepared to have people question that over and over again in chat. Like it matters.
molly just makes up all the rules as she goes along :)
i could only go as low as 4
and i've changed my flag
i could have changed it to somewhere i've never heard of but if someone asked me about it i wouldn't have a clue
I don't play by the rules. I thought everyone knew that by now.
:)
we do molly, and that is the way to be :D
me either...heck I refuse to even accept that there are any :)
what rules?
The grand poobahs here would disagree with all of us.
as far as i'm concerned there aren't any here. anyway i left school a long time ago
rules #1...There are no rules :D
exactly smores :)
WEll, getting too quiet here....
ugh...don't think I'm gonna finish this one
molly broke the chat!!
Where's ruru or crossy when you need them
I can help smores....
me too smores
thanks Jilli, but I still need 82...lol
even though i have 55 left
started new job yesterday, not much time to babble
Jumped into the flag game...
What's the new job?
lol
ditto jill
cust serv for Pearson Education
Sounds interesting...better hours, or pay?
Days at least...pays okay
good for you smores for getting a new job
no weekends..woohoo
thanks lilli
Yes, change is always good...and daytime much healthier!
that sounds funny jill, you're from montana in monaco :)
Hi all!
hey again all!
Hello uusue!
Hey sue :)
HI stiddy
oh lovely, more time with the family and time for yourself smores :)
hi stid :)
hey sue! how goes?
Hi stid, smores, Jill, lilli!
wb stid :)
hi sue
have been unemployed since end on Jan.
Pretty good, stid.
Is this better lilliann?
Ooh - we have a date! May 17!
how did you do that?
Wow...congrats uusue!
yippee!!!! (starts collecting rice to throw)
WOOHOOO Sue and Frank :)
I suggest a honeymoon in Montana!
good evening all - congrats sue
yay for sue and frank! hugs to both of you :)
smores I am so happy you are employed. and I have to replace a lot of the Pearson titles that were on my bookshelves, so there's some job security for you!
Hi teach :)
lol...thanks stid :)
hi teach
Sure L, say "I" broke the chat. Not you with your !!!!! chain. : P
:D
hey teach!
that was earlier and it didn't plus i did loads of!!!!!!!!! to annoy you as i know you hate that :) i like to please :P
Sue, happy to hear your good news. Will be politically correct and throw bird seed. : D
Are you working for Pearson, smores? I do a lot of freelance work for them.
why do people throw rice...it hurts
and bird seed will be just as bad :)
Yes Sue...just started yesterday..that's cool :)
Thanks, Molly, the birds are happy.
Laughing my ass off (LMAO to all you abbreviators) L is from Bermuda now.
I hope you enjoy it smores! They are a big outfit.
thanks :)
i'm having all the flags of places i've ben to and loved
Okay, now we have to blow bubbles so L won't get hurt. Perhaps release a flock of butterflies too?
well, i suppose it's better than doves, they could sh** on your head
paper confetti will do molly
LOL
: D Imagining the charming wedding photo
yes, it wouldn't look good, especially if it ended up in an eye, it would be like a pirate with a white patch :)
then all you'd need was the dove landing on your shoulder and you'd definitely look the part, especially if you had too many drinks before the ceremony and were leaning a bit
Psst...Sue...Montana is pretty and all that but hope you go somewhere a little more romantic for your honeymoon. And visiting a Babble player while on your honeymooon....um...no. : D
i'm going to shut up now be3fore i upset people or more people and find some words :(
:)
meant :)
Well, we bid on a vacation at our church auction, so it will be either Hilton Head or Hawaii.
wonderful :)
Ah, beautiful, both of them. Good for you.
hawaii, i've always wanted to go there.where is hilton head?
LOL Molly, uusue and i have already met. And may I remind you of Chico Hot Springs? Purrfect honeymoon place...
Hilton Head is an island off South Carolina.
I think I'd choose Hawaii....
Yes, we're leaning that way although its a lot more expensive to get to
done 'traveling' and now back home....
Allegiant Air flies to Honolulu...then GoAir is pretty cheap to island hop
True but we can drive to Hilton Head
thanks sue, i'll google it later
Whew! Just spent an hour and a half with Comcast trying to get my service sorted out. Glad that is over!
The drive to Hilton Head would be a lot more fun than the 8 million hour flight to Hawaii. : D
Yes, and getting food for Frank on the plane won't be easy
And probably a better bet for Frank, all things considered.
also, Hilton Head we would have to ourselves (although we could invite another couple if we wanted), Hawaii we'd be with the minister and her partner
whom I love dearly but it would be a different kind of experience
Um, sharing a honeymoon with a minister. I vote for Hilton Head! : )
definately would go with Hilton Head :)
hilton head :)
:-) of course we are Unitarians so pretty relaxed about everything - also Hilton Head would be in November, Hawaii would be January
Sue, you are so nice. "A different kind of experience". : D
well, I'm old, I've had a lot of different kinds of experiences :-)
you're on your honeymoon.have time to yourselves for a change
my honeymoon was with 3 children 1, which was mine and my parents :)fun was had by all...but me :)
well, whichever we do it will be several months after the wedding
well, not in the way i was thinking a honeymoon should be :)
indeed :-)
brb
as anyone cooked with chicken livers?
brb
many many years ago, lilli
hello all....clue for the mo 6/24 please?
I have one that's the plural of a mo5/14, penquis
I don't care how old you are, or how many years ago you got together, you two deserve a romantic honeymoon. Especially after all you have been through.
i had chicken livers for the first time a couple of weeks ago at a pub and i bought some but i'm not sure what to do with them apart from a pate
that is very sweet, molly!
guess i don't have the mo 5/14, lol....
well, you can wrap them in bacon and grill them, lilli
it's like the go5/16, penquis
i agree with molly whole heartedly sue :)
just found it....thanks
hi pen
or I used to have a recipe for a macaroni casserole that involved cheese, tomatoes, and chicken livers although it would probably be just as good without the livers
Hawaii in January would be a nice break from winter...
Oh, excuse me, I just ralphed at the thought of chicken livers in macaroni casserole. : O
i've never done that with liver before, i do cook other liver with bacon and onions but that's dry fried as the fat on the bacon gives enough fat out. i had chicken livers in a vermouth sauce in a puff pastry basket(basically a vol-a-vent case)
i must admit i'm not a macaroni person and i don't think i could eat it with liver
hi lillian
Notes that Jill is still pushing hard for Hawaii.
but i didn't think the liver went with pastry
well, Hawaii is pretty nice
Hawaii = Nice, very nice. Sharing a Hawaiian honeymoon with a minister...not so sure about that. No matter how much love and all that is there. : D
the bairn hates liver so i'm trying a different liver which isn't strong tasting and i need to do it in a way she will eat it, but saying that if she doesn't she won't get a sweet after(i'm a tough mam)
Oh good luck L. I would rather die of starvation than eat liver.
kids in bed..dog and cats are back in..gonna try for a few more
could I get a clue for the 7?
Plural. Decade of middle age.
ah, thanks! got it.
I like liver :) with lots of carmelized onions...yum
although I am 20 years past that and still think of myself as no older than middle aged...
:)
she hates veg now aswell molly, since she started high school and her friends don't eat this or that, but she always ate every meat and veg we fed her without a complaint.now she's just a fussy teenager.she'll say she's full up after 5 mouthfuls but she can eat biscuits and icecream...well, none of that unless she eats proper food!! :)
We are as old as we feel. No question about that. Some feel young at 60, others act old as the hills at 30.
me to smores. i like lambs, calves and pigs liver.
no molly. we are as young as the person we feel :) sorry lowered the chat again!
hey folks (lillian - wrap the chicken livers in some bacon, secure with toothpicks (our kind of bacon, if you can find it) and fry them up - sprinkle with a little cayenne and serve with some sour cream on the side
hi welki
LOL
(if you don't like cayenne pepper, some nice hungarian paprika will taste good)
nice lilli
sounds good welki :)
L, I don't envy you having to be concerned about the diet of a teenage girl who pays attention to the dietary comments of other teenage girls. Yeesh.
sort of a bastardized rumaki, smores
WEll, must toddle off for the night...good luck all!
night Jilly :)
hi/bye, jilly
and hi, penquis :)
night, jill!
and hi welki!
((sue))
sounds nice welki ty.your bacon is streaky isn't it.i like more bacon than fat which is why i like our back bacon especially when wrapping food as it covers all and keeps the meat underneath moist
night jill, tc hin and sweet dreams
yes, it's like streaky
you need the fat to keep the liver moist
(we have back bacon, too (and peameal bacon) - not sure if it's like yours)
my hubby and bairn like your bacon as they lie it cooked to a crisp i dlike my bacon just cooked
our back bacon is very much like ham - solid meat, little or no fat
my daughter will have me burn her bacon i cut all the fat off mine and microwave it for a minute
like ours then welki
saying that, ours is thinly sliced.our ham joints are chunkier
i don't know peameal bacon though. i've heard crossy talk about it
must head to bed...50 left
Night all :)
night smores, sweet dreams and tc hin
night smores!
peameal is back bacon with a coating of cornmeal. keeps it from drying out
and I will be off as well, see you all tomorrow!
we have ham like that, but not bacon
night sue. congrats again. all the best to you and frank.sweet dreams to both of you
here's a pic: http://tinyurl.com/cxbu3y6
good night all - sweet dreams
hi/bye, teach
i've written it down and will look when i've finished welki
are you off aswell teach or just saying good night to people?
I've never thought of the peameal stuff as bacon. My husband said it was a Canadian/US difference. But he preferred the strip bacon over the peameal stuff.
different meats for different sorts of breakfast - eggs benedict wouldn't be the same without back bacon, diner bacon and eggs would only be diner bacon and eggs with strip bacon
i like it all - which accounts for my roundness :)
see, we have smoked bacon, back bacon and streaky and i would only have back bacon with breakfast and smoked in soups and other meals where the smokiness brings more flavour, but i don't like streaky as too much fat
(and, for the record, i like maple sausages with pancakes)
Okay, I get back bacon (the hammy stuff) for eggs Benedict. And I get strip bacon for traditional diner bacon and eggs. What is a traditional peameal bacon dish?
i also use the back bacon to wrap around other meats
then i'm not sure what you'd do with the chicken livers, lilliann - maybe saute some onions with a little bacon fat and toss the livers in until they're (almost) cooked - by the time they reach the plate, they'll be perfect
nowt against my friends across the pond but do you really eat bacon with pancakes and maple syrup on the same plate?
heck yes!
peameal and back bacon are used interchangeably up in alberta - they're the same cut of meat. one is rolled in cornmeal, the other isn't. just double checked with husband. he said, 'i'd call them the same thing"
i would maybe griddle the livers with a tiny bit of olivce oil but i like my livers black on the outside but moist on the inside
what's that about!!
sorry, but how can you eat meat with maple syrup?
hehehe ... and that was sort of my reaction the first time i had a scotch egg. you actually roll a hard boiled egg in sausage, coat it in bread crumbs and bake it?
moi?....i eat bacon with pancakes and maple syrup on the same plate...
well it's with the pancakes....sweet and salty
that's better than coating it in maple syrup
well it all goes down the same tube as my brother used to say
to each their own
any clue for as 6/24?
like my hubby says' if it doesn't stick in your throat it won't stick in you're arse' excuse vulgarity
nope, sorry. another grid i won't finish.
i like my sweet sweet and savoury savoury
Oh, L has the same aversion to maple syrup as my husband did. And he was from Canada. : D
got seven left but i have hit a brick wall....
i don't mind maple syrup but not with meat
my grandparents on both sides were French Canadian
i don't want pineapple on a pizza either
i don't like that either
agreed. no pineapple on pizza, but husband loves it - pineapple and ham (like back bacon!)
and i usually don't like meat cooked with fruit
i don't have any as's sorry pen
np..
neither do i pen
ohh, but i love country style ribs with sweet and sour sauce, pineapple, onion and peppers
I don't get meat and fruit. I'm like L. I like my sweet, sweet and my savory, savory.
i like pork ribs in Montreal at Bar B and they are sweet....but no sour....and no tomato
i like plum sauce and sweet and sour sauce with different meals but i don't want pieces of fruit with my savoury
no tomato in mine either, penquis
i don't like waldorf salad as it has nuts and apple with lettuce
there is one thing i like with meat and fruit in it....chicken salad with grape halves and either walnuts or pecans....
duck with orange or plum sauce is lovely
Don't get me started on all that gelatin salad with nuts, fruit and marshmallows in it. : O
not a duck fan
i couldn't eat that pen
don't like any gelatin salad
marshmallows in a salad?
i confess. i like ambrosia (but have never had it with nuts in it - only coconut, mandarin oranges and marshmallows)
To me, chicken salad is chicken salad. It's not fruit salad, it's chicken salad.
it's more like jello with salady things in it and marshmallows
so like jelly with salad in it?
(oh, and pineapple)
Marshmallows are a salady thing?
well they put fruit and marshmallows in it....other stuff, too, i think.....but i don't like it
exactly molly. i want what is on the 'tin' i don't want any extras
well i am off to bed....gn all
salad and marshmallows definitely don't go...i feel sick now
here's a pic and recipe - it's really nice on a hot summer's day: http://tinyurl.com/cyb8rdn
night pen sweet dreams and tc
marshmallow and sweet potatoes?
it's not salad, like lettuce, lillian
writing it down for later welki
I've never gotten into the "gourmet groove" of adding raisins, cranberries, grapes or nuts to meat salads.
oh, a fruit salad then?
mmmm ... sweet potatoes with some marshmallows tossed in
yes a fruit salad
usually at Thanksgiving someone in the family makes a sweet potato dish that has marshmallows on top...one year someone didn't have marshmallows and put peeps bunnies on top instead
i like sweet potatoes and i can't think of the other thing i like.it's peachy coloured with a big bulbous end and has seeds in the bulbous end
neither have i molly. meat is lovely on it's own, it doesn't need fruit so just leave it alone
L. it's Jell-o and fruit and marshmallows and just that kind of congealed concoction. I'm getting queasy now.
butternut squash?
yes welki that's it. i love that roasted
goodnight all
no jello in my ambrosia, molly
'night penquis
i hate jelly so it wouldn't matter what was in it or on it i couldn't eat it
night pen,tc hin
ambrosia is a cream or rice pudding here
actually ambrosia is a creamy pudding but they do custard aswell
g'night folks - calling it a night
Oh, we are on to Ambrosia. Mandarin orange, pineapple, marshmallows, coconut and sour cream. Not a favorite of mine.
night welki, sweet dreams and tc
i don't like anything creamy. i hate rice pudding but i don't mind homemade custard but i don't like it thick and i hate cold custard. my dad loves custard tarts
can i have a clue for be5 please
another word for being drunk?
be + three letter word for a drunk, that starts with s.
great minds think alike, Molly
ty both
That was a "cheat clue". But if people can clue with things like "hump letter", I'm going for it.
i'm loving that puppy phan
She is 4 years old now!
so she's quite alot bigger then...she wasn't going to be a little dog byt the looks of her there:)
no, she is about 65 lbs.
why was that a cheat clue molly? when i read hump letter i though where does that come into being drunk,, :)
no-one would argue with her then phan
Her ears fell when she teethed and never stood back up again. One of her adult teeth never came in and I wonder if that has something to do with it as apparently it is common for the ears to flop during teething.
No, I meant a cheat clue as in clues that include "hump letter" or "cross letter" and the like.
oh, bless her, i must admit i've never seen a germanshepherd/alsatian with droopy ears, but i bet she's still beautiful
I will attempt to change my pic to a more recent one of her.
i know what a cheat clue is molly but i wondered why you said it as your clue didn't have a hump or cross letter in it.your's was normal
I meant that my clue was like a cheat clue, because it had more than the first two letters in it.
ahh, was it because you said it starts with an s?
np.why are we even going over it..lol life's too short, sorry i should say why am i...
oh bugger, i have to do the bairn's pack lunch.saying that i don't know why she doesn't. she does it when her dad's home
excuse french
this is when i wish we could get rid of what we've written before it goes onto chat
well, I have tried to upload a new pic 3 times and it fails.
I rarely comment, but I have to point out that this puzzle is one letter short of the word ululation.
what a shame phan, nevermind i'm sure she's just as cute as she was when she was a puppy
i don't think it's bad enough to howl greenery but it is bad, but saying that there is never an easy babble grid, well not very oftern
I wonder why it wont let me upload a pic though, I tried another one too and it didn't work either.
don't ask me phan. i'm not good with computors or anything mechanical :0
me either!
there is a picture there but it is huge and fuzzy :)
weird.
if you click on your icon you should see it phan
You have to make sure that your icon picture is resized to 350 x 350 before you upload it. Otherwise, it's GIANT.
i wouldn't know how to do that molly, as i'm crap with computors.the bairn tells me what to do but then i forget
so when she's at school and i try to do something and it doesn't work i give up
Photographs straight from a camera are usually 1000 pixels or above and blow the profile out of proportion.
oh ok, so then you need to put it on the computor first and then upload?
Re-size a photo you want to use in an icon in Paint, or any other image editing software you have.
sorry but i really am technology thick, plus i forget things
ok thanks
Better to let someone help you then.
the bairn when she is in a good mood and not anti me...mmm...that won't be very often then :P
i've written it down and aslong as no-one moves my book away from the computor i'll be fine, saying that i have books all over the place to write on and the bairn writes on them and moves them
or my pens go missing so i don't have anything to write on
fireworks! i don't know how i missed so many 4's!!
YAY lilliann!!!! that's good timing for me. :-)
all but 8 in 45 minutes - not going to finish though
what do you need nan
