I just can't get those bottom Rs -- any clues?
One is an Indian queen
The other is ri 4 / 4 - a river inlet
ra 5 /10 for the first one
And actually the 2nd is a plural!
Not being very helpful - sorry!
the ri4/4 I got comes from the upper R, but ty for the Indian queen I shouldhave seen
Oh yes - Well I've got one from that bottom, middle r, so I'll keep looking for you!
OK - how about ro 4 / 4 - the horse?
ah, but I got that bottom ro4/4 -- dog/horse coat colour
NBT/NBS (yes, shouting!)
Don't have any others from the bottom r's but haven't been here that long!
WTG Jilli :)
Oops, no -- missingthe righthand E
Me too and the corresponding o!
the O is the almost US state oh4/5
ty Jilli - I'd been fiddling around with similar letters but hadn't quite got there!
got that E -- en6, make wealthy
ty and for the 2nd half too!
nice role reversal, liz -- yopu usually give me clues!
LOL - we all help each other!
I think the right hand e is en6-24....but I don't have it yet.
Peach did you see Jilli's clue at 1.18?
OMG, no, I missed it.....thanks for telling me.

hello Babblers
spritey!!! hello and {{hugs}}
are you feeling any better today?
hiya rose! Yes, definitely better. Sun is out, home is empty, I am free and I can feel it :) How about you?
yay, spritey. well done, sweetheart. me??? i just did my first 10 hour shift in 18 months. a little weary, knee fine.
yay for the knee. And make sure you rest, mylady! Lots of relax time for you.
*giggle* sure hope so, hun. right after the 8 hour shift tomorrow...late start tho'. so i think i'll be okay.
such long days. I admire you. *hugs*!
now i'm in a quandary...do i retire or do i persist and work the 10 hours?
retire. Health before everything. But it would be nice to have the contract with your rentals.
from the sounds eminating from the kitchen, i think dinner is on it's way
ah good. Lovely, isn't it? I am gonna pick up some pizza tomorrow, for the boy and me, and his new girlfriend. To be shoved in the oven whenever it suits us. The pizza, not the girlfriend.
yeah, sprite. am hoping contract will be sorted this weekend coming.
rofl, sprite.
am keeping my fingers crossed for you, rose. That would be so perfect.
love and hugs, hun. will scoff dinner and then check in to see if all is okay.
I am stuck on re5/14. Could I get a clue, please?
marc, re + gear?
don't have it yet, but will help you look

Hi mlf :)
ty liz
i am not liking this grid
Good day Babble buddies. Rainy day here.
Hi scrabbs - hope it brightens up later.
It's not often I say it, but I like this grid! 10 left.
Off + on rain predicted for the next few days. We do need some rain though.
gm, everyone! clue for the qu6?
You might do this if you're thirsty!
Hi dawg--I just started.
oh doh! ty, liz!
hiya, Scrabs!
yw
R last column clue please?
Indian queen
?
ra 5 / 10
i got ra 5/14 instead
Or a place where cowboys hang out ra 5 / 14 but I don't have the 3rd r from there.
Clue for the G please?
flatbread sandwich gi4
add a vowel to the cowboy place
ty dawg
nbt
ty marilyn - the last vowel I tried!
Couldn't see it for looking!
tadone, finito!! fun little grid, a bit twisty in places.
nbt and nbs
Congrats lbd :)
Hah, I got distracted reading the newspaper. I must focus on the grid.
hello everyone :)
hiya annie!
Hi Annie :)
Hi Annie and Bobby
clue for sa 5 / 14 please
Bobby just left for the workshop
When does he get home?
sa + striped cat **ger + vowel
He leaves the workshop...walks 3 avenues to 86th Street and takes the B1 bus home by himself
He usually gets home around 4pm
well, that clue sucked. sa + not lion but t**er + vowel
Hm, not tiger cat...
Aha, that works.
Good for Bobby.
thanks lbd. That gives me fireworks :)
whooo hoooo LIZ!!
YAY Liz !!
Now go enjoy the day, Liz.
Almost time for bed here, scrabbs - I'll probably go to bed early with my ibook :)
sweet sleeps, Liz
Sleep well. I did not.
What kind of workshop is your son involved with Annie?
scrabbs, no headaches, I hope
Good night from here. Hope you all enjoy your days :)
night, liz, sweet dreams
No headache, just couldn't fall asleep--brain was revved up from a great day of hiking with my visiting sister. I am not working this week while she is here.
Enjoy the week with your sister..is kayaking on the menu?
nice vacation time, scrabs
We want to kayak today and tomorrow but there are scattered rains and thunder storms, grrr. We will be on a small lake today so can exit quickly, if needed.
Be safe
"chog" is in the grid
Safety first is my motto.
hi all
All done for now. Maybe I'll be back tonight. Enjoy the day everyone.
bye scabs have a great day with your sister...
Hi and bye, je.
bye scrabbs..was in the kitchen making tea
enjoy, scrabs!
morning, JMC

bye dawg, have a great day
a very good morning to all
((Annie)) you had a ton of rain yesterday.
((Mom)) good morning to you
Yes, we did and expect more today
hi all
anyone got the right hand E?
oh dear
hi Hurshy. Not yet, but I will help you look
to make wealthy, hurshy
ah thanks annie
youre welcome
I am living in a cloud...it is so foggy here
i just hope for not too heavy rain, and no lightning, at the times i am out on a bike today!
That must be an odd feeling, Annie
Hurshy, do you bike to work?
It is foggy here quite often so I am used to it
no, not to work, but, on thursdays, i have counselling in the middle of the day, and i bike over there. except the last few months i just parked on the street in front of work instead but that is expensive.
I see.
I would imagine parking would be expensive.
aw, we can't get re8 built of en6 there :( trump went bankrupt, then he re8ed himself.
Cincinnati has increased their parking rates and it cost $2 for 1 hour of parking. The meters take credit cards now :-(
yeah our downtown ones take cc's too but not the ones on the street where i work
i was using vouchers instead of the meters though, slightly cheaper, $8/day
In New York it cost $1.00 an hour to park at a meter
$8 / a day is steep
I can't believe New York is cheaper to park than Cincinnati
what's the matter with cincinnati? (new book idea)
Shay and Whitney park in a lot not far from the library for $3/day
At a meter, it is
Parking at a museum in NYC is 40.00
well mom i park in a garage usually and that's on a sliding scale according to income. i think i pay 50 something per month. it's just on the street is more. cause it's more convenient!
Well, Hurshy let us start with the Mayor and work our way down
oh my goodness Annie that is terrible. Do you have to pay to go into the museum
Yes, we do
let me see, 10 left. i have sw7, what's the other 7?
$50/mo is a good rate. Some garages here are $120/mo
Annie, that is just wrong
er7
no 7's here at all, sorry
ah thanks annie
think i'll get the list with 8 left now
mornin' babbles
morning, bichon
hint for the er7 Annie, pls
hi Bichon
using the rubber part of your pencil
dang it mostly fishes
well this is a nice grid, for a smallish one.
are you finished, Hurshy?
tyvm Annie
the esses in this grid are in the wrong places
youre welcome
yes i'm finished.
Took my foster Bichon, Ben, for an x-ray of his bladder to see if he has any stones. He has one in his bladder and two in his penis. Ouch
that was what, like a 15 or 20 minuter
Congratulations!
ouch indeed Bichon

I'm hoping he makes it to the surgery next Wed. without a crisis
{{Annie}} hi there
I did say dog, right?
they should do the surgery sooner
yes you said bichon. and that is why i'm glad. it would be wrong to share such info about a son!
time to start my day. (((Hugs))) to all of you. I wish you all a great day. Hurshy, I hope the rain holds off while you are biking :-)

HI river, you are really good at slingo!!
Re5.
What is slingo?
ty both
it is a game on Fb but I think elsewhere too that combines bingo with slots. very addicting
well, I am going for a walk since I did not go to my exercise class. bbl
I love slingo
oops missed Peri - got interrupted at work
Me is finito!
me is stuck - congrats Judi
no matter how many times I try hiree, it's still not a word.
goooooooooooood afternoon fellow babblers xxx could someone tell me how many words today please? xxx
104, worzel
ty ww xxx
yw!
chog is not a word. That is so wrong
Reading back, if you like Slingo, the same company has a game I love called Tinklit Supreme...really fun with daily challenges as well.
Hi Mimi - will have to check that one out, although I really do not need any more games to play..lol! Peri and I challenge each other on Slingo - I love that game. Are you facebook Mimi? Maybe we can play against each other as well.
I'm on FB, River, but only check it once every couple of weeks when I have notifications...I really hate FB...sorry. Try Tinklit, though. It's very unique and I bought it over a year ago and still play it every day for the daily challenge. I have a system on it now and my scores are actually phenomenal so now I must top myself if I play the regular game. One piece of advice...when you're choosing your options for play, don't pick Brick Mode...it's impossible and frustrating.
Let me know if/when you try it out, River. BTW, you can buy it at Big Fish Games for $6.99 if you become a member.
I dont usually buy games - there are so many free ones out there
I must get back to work - have 14 left now - feel good about that as I dont list anymore. May be back later. Have a great day Mimi and you other lurkers.
You can probably find this for free as well. It is fun. It's putting "puzzle" pieces together for points---kind of hard to describe since it isn't like anything else I've seen.
thanks for the tip - just found one more word...whoohooo - 13 to go - bye now!
Bye, River. I'm leaving, too...frustrated enough for one morning!
river we need to talk sometime
{{ruru}} Hi and bye.
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!! today i give you a link on a look back on one year without the internet by journalist Paul Miller of new York.he went to try and find himself, but i think in the end as he discovered,we as humans evolve in so many subtle ways that he was in fact never really lost.. http://tinyurl.com/bpqxvw2
oops, what did I do now ruru?
I heard about your post on facebook about our little tiff with BR.. and I frankly found it to be a little patronizing
iuh oh.he has been at it again?
I was actually standing up for you ruru but the argument needed to stop so lets not bring that up again
I don't see why (regardless) of his "issues" we need to put up with weird belligerent comments that are mean-spirited, demeaning, and hurtful to people
agreed
I agree as well
why did it need to stop? Crossy and I were defending ourselves against a personal attack
was treated quite shabbily that day myself
I'm still here, ruru, and I was part of that as well...he was quite sarcastic to me. The way you stood up to him was, I believe, justified, necessary and admirable.
I'm sorry.. I haven't gone through my life as a doormat river.. and I'm not going to put up with his abusive behavior if I'm here... .I'm frankly sick of it.
I know that too. I am here to chat with my friends and have fun. It took all the fun out of it. If I appeared to be patronizing then I apologize. That was not my intention
thank you.
since he is a member of this group and a paid member he cannot really just be treated like a troll either.as members of the same group he has to know hen he steps over the line in as much as i hope you would all let me know if i step over the line\
I dont mind anyone standing up for themselves
I am here to joke around, play the game, chat, and have fun.. if i say something objectionable.. I will apologize.
as will i
I don't personally attack anyone here.. at least not intentionally... and if I do.. I back off and apologize.
group hug
((((group)))
thanks RIVer... I just had to let you know it wasn't a "boys will be boys" thing...
I've never seen anything objectionable from either of you, ruru and crossy, and I appreciate your integrity.
I could tell that ruru - unfortunately it just shut down on the fun - and shame on him!
Neither have I Mimi - in fact I love the wit...
All families have their disputes...including the Babble family...that's all.
as i recall we were having a great ole silly time just before "the event"
Now I really must get to work
but, lets move on and hope that is the last of it
All families DO have their disputes. And they don't need to be "squashed" because people find them "unpleasant". The air needs to get cleared. And that CAN take longer than 12 minutes. : )
Well said, Molly, and I agree.
Now I'm leaving as well...bbl. Hugs all around.
now let see if there are any words in this lil grid;))
good plan crossy
Easy one today. Good I need to mow grass.
Good morning all!
howdy,jilly
REading through chog, I agree...
thanks jilly
Personnally, I enjoy the little banty and word play we do in chog. I am also able to call people out on inappropriate behavior; but I know there are those that can't do that.
<----thankfully chog is not a word or I would be in PB
I have always taken the policy of live and let live here.. a lot of people say things that are weird.. but it's an active chat.. so I take what I want. I just think that these snarky personal attacks are not cool.. .at least not anymore.
Amen, I know 'he' pushed my buttons one night...I chose to be quiet.
The thing is, at least in my opinion, choosing to be quiet does not address the issue. And frankly, I'm tired of people excusing his bad behavior with "personal issues". That is not an excuse to treat people like crap.
I think that's what I said already too Molly
I gave it one attempt but that seemed to just enflame the situation. That's when I went into lurk.
too bad there isn't a mute button here..........
yeah.. it's easy to enflame jilly.. that's for sure
True...
Apologies then, I didn't mean to be repeating what has already been said.
As my teens learned last night....
No Molly, i think repeating that is a good thing!!
But it's easier to call them on it when other babblers come in and support you....
I was just agreeing with you Molls
hi all
Hello mael!
hi jill, molly, ruru
I was trying not to be Obtuse Molly :D
LOL ruru, still reliving the moment?
Pax Ru : D
hahahaha
I better get my butt to work
take care all.. have a great day
Of course, I would probably be much quicker with the grid if I didn't spend so much time in the chog
Later ruru...((hugs))---> and runs
grid is not bad so far but it does have a few sharp teeth:0
and plays to my deficit...reading to the left...
it is the words that start with vowels that kill e every time.do not know why i have to fight so hard for them each grid
and latin endings....
ameobae and the like
Finally found the corner r for nbt/nbs...
well, you are way ahead of ole crossy then:))
Took you long enough, Montana girl
One woudl think I could see ra5/14...being a Montana girl and all...
LOL...snap molly!!
But its reading it to the left...
Did you get the Espanol version too?
ahhh ty molly!
This little grid is amazingly not so easy...
hi all
hello peri!
love your icon, Jilly
<---thinks Molly would be surprised I just found sw4/10....
It's been the weather here peri! But kinda worried as it is too dry.
top and right column gray
wtg peri!
:-)
I have the 7's if anyone needs clues
Not surprised at all Jill. Although guzzle is more the word I associate with you. : D
Sheesh, I get toasted ONE night on the grid...never going to live it down... ;P
In a nice, dainty, church lady way, of course.
Have them peri, but thanks!
Oh yes *cough* *sputter* it was only that ONE night *cough* How silly of me.
*sends raspberry to molly*
help with g pls. I have gir/6x2 and go4/6
Okay, truly having fun, but have to send out my last letter for youth ministry...bbl to finish...
Bad spelling of a Greek sandwich
Oh, you meant gi4/2
Add not off to most of not boy
yes I have gi4x/2
ty Molls
need one more s for the left colum pls
Is it sa + some people smoke Cuban c***rs?
sa + vowel + 80s games console se**
hello everyone
hi sadie and all!
hi Sue
I guess Peri asked for that clue and flitted away.
hi molly!
the clue didn't go to waste, though, I used it! Thanks!
Ah good, hi Sue.
I'm going to flit away now too, though, my son just arrived to visit us at the cancer center
All the wee butterflies, flitting here and there.
Butterfly landing again....
Good morning, afternoon, or evening to all. Having cork floors installed today, and my plan to work from the living room table is scratched ... so instead I get to play Babble!!
Hello ch1212! Nice! I am considering cork for my kitchen...
Good choice ch12, any reason to babble is good
Always flitting in and out, good way to collect clues
Works for me...LOL
Love your sunny icon Jilly
Thanks....just happy we finally have nice weather!
<----!!FW!!
Yay, congratulations Jilly :)
Any clues needed before I flitter out again LOL
greetings all
No thanks, need too many to even know what I need yet
Hey cos!! Nice to see you...BTW...usual appaling qu words
Hi cos
Jilly, double check with cork in a kitchen -- usually not reccommended for that room. :)
How many letters?
qu5 isnt appalling these days . or do you mean another qu word?
I second what Ch said. Too much room for water and cork mix, which is not good.
ty i didnt have it tho :)
Hmmm, my friend has it in her kitchen here and her home in Kona...
Still used in a negative way too much here...
I suppose it depends on who says it and what region really.
Kona, as in Hawaii? Wow ... if she can keep a cork floor in one of the most humid places on earth, I salute her!! Maybe my info is wrong.
Also not recommended for cat and dog owners.
is a cork floor what it sounds like?
Going to check a source I know...
But then neither is hardwood and tons of pet owners have it.
Floor after a good champagne party?
Yes, cos. It's a sustainable substance, softer and warmer than wood, not as dentable as bamboo, has a 30-40 year warranty, so very durable.
I should tell my MIL about it she bought a new house and wants to redo floors
These days, the cork comes in many colors and patterns, so your floor doesn't look like a college dorm room.
Just googled some images. Very pretty and cozy looking
help with top row S?
Cos, it's very big with the organic, green, low carbon footprint crowd. : D
Just looked at site, a waterproof sealant is required. Cork floors are good for feet, good for warmth, good for environment, good for allergies
ah perfect for MIL.. shes a vegan now.
yes on all counts, jilly and molly :)
wait. that sounded like i was being nasty.. i wasnt. just saying she is one.
nvm got the S.. was using wrong combo
Gotta run....bbl HAGD all
No worries, cos. I suspect most of us in Babbleland 'read a comment and take it in a positive way.
Cos, Fox picked up a new drama starring Greg Kinnear (I love him) as a self destructive attorney (kind of like House, MD) who takes on edgy cases. First new series I've heard about that I'm looking forward to.
hi, anyone give a clue on the top a plz:)
ah nice i just opened an article right this minute about NBC's orders
ag4
ty cos got it
yw!
I see fox ordered "sleepy hollow" as well.
the greg kinnear show is most likely a midseason replacement. this article says.
Yes, that one looks good too. I'm waiting to see what they cancel. I'm afraid I'm about to watch my last few episodes of Touch. It's a high contender for cancellation.
touch hasnt been cancelled it but the official word is "not looking good"
whoops u said the sme lol
AMC un-cancelled the killing. weird. but good.
clue for the er 7, please and thank you?

hi bichon
Liliann, I've been reading up on gardens in Glouscester. I want to go to the Sezincote in Moreton-on-Marsh
i've never heard of it bichon.i'll have to look it up
*Gloucestershire that is
It has an Indian theme
it has some very interesting history about the estate and beautiful gardens
i like the elephants
Yes, it sounds intriguing. Hope we can make a trip there. A lot of these gardens don't have public transportation access. We'll have to take a taxi, perhaps

bichon, i've just looked up excursions to sezincote and apparently you can get the number 21/22 buses to moreton -in-marsh and it takes you to sezincote,it's a 3 mile round trip or there is a taxi firm called oph taxis who do sightseeing tours to sezincote and other estates
Oh, THAT kind of a clue.

Where will you be in Israel Kaplan? I lived there for a year and have visited several times
It's the whole thing. I am anxious about the airport.

Mine is the planning nazi
How the hell do know if I'm going to be up for a guided tour?
Kap, I've been to all those places. Each is more wonderful than the other. But Rome has to be my favourite. And Hi Lilliann et al. :-)
I can only think as far as the airport.
Oh well, there goes the chat width.
My husband brings along clothes he doesn't want to wear any more and then throws them away before we return. Drive me nuts
chat's gone wide again at my end
do I really need a guided 7 hour tour? Ihate tours!
Me too.
I'll go in your place Kaplan
Et al waves hello
I will bring as few clothes as possible and repack 18 times.
No, I'm going because at tis point it would be embarrassing not to.
Fat chat.
Et al? Or El Al?
Can't post 40 Os, Cs and Ds.
I always bring my most elderly underwear on holidays. That way, as it's used, I throw it away. I always feel like Ms Gabor from Green Acres!
i must admit i pack our cases once and then re-pack and empty bits out.my huuby and the bairn always know it's not worth moving the cases or doing up padlocks until we are about to leave the house :)
see i can't do that soodle as i had it drummed into me for years that i should always wear clewear my best and clean(like i'm going to wear dirty ones)just in case i had an accident
Seems like chat always slows to a crawl when we have a chat widening post in it.
Holy Moly! Soodle mentions underwear, and the chog goes HUGE!!! Is Dr God trying to tell me something?
Go molly, fix the chat
Just because I shop in Rent-a-tent......
Shall I help?

Looking for an O from the first column please
<---Now has lorry in her American To UK Translation notes

Chrissie, sounds like a US state, but different last vowel
My Grandma used to wear those, Molly. Pink brushed nylon ones. They looked dang uncomfortable.
ty bichon
<---Not into uncomfortable undies
If I post like this will it flush the chat?
Almost
And...flushed
A few more lines
wtg Molly
Ta da! We now return you to your regular chat width.
yay for molly :)
Well done Molly!
I was wondering what happened. Just dropped in and confused
Welcome to my world, Momof5!
hi momof5
You have to do too much scrolling to play this game as it is. Adding a side-to-side scroll on the chat is a pain.
Chez Soodle is Exam Central atm. I'm walking on eggshells in my own home. Roll on end of exams.
fw's! does anyone want a clue before i have an early night and read my book for hours :)
No thanks Lill. I fw'ed earlier. But thanks. :-)
Why are you walking on eggshells?
aww, stressed out teenagers are good soodle.good luck with that :)
Cos they are both 'Stressed'. Allegedly.
*aren't
bye all and tc
Personally, I think they are using the exams as an excuse to throw hissy fits at will, and if I chastise them, 'I don't understand'. Its easier to walk on eggshells!
Bye Lil. Take care. (((())))
<---Does not walk on eggshells around hissy fit throwers.
Couple of weeks & t'will all be over. Sarah, elder daughter departs for Greece two weeks from tomorrow. Until August. I predict an outbreak of tranquility upon her departure.
Did I mention I'm currently watching The Tudors on Netflix? Lol
Well, that's good. I grew up in a dysfunctional home where anything "unpleasant" was ignored. I've done my best to move beyond that kind of behavior because nothing ever gets resolved that way. That being said, everybody does what they have to do.
The Tudors is a very popular show. So far, I haven't been able to get into it.
Oooh, Molls! Its Downton Abbey in Doublet & Hose. Not historically perfect, but hugely entertaining.
And, of course, there's Jonathon Rhys Meyrs......
Well THAT attraction I can understand completely. On another note, the empty nest is getting emptier. *Passes tissues*
hi all, back to finish. 11 left
helf with ne6 pls
I just gave myself a pedicure. 1st one of the season

More of the ne4 before it

Presents toes to Peri..... I'd love a PeriPedi!
I don't think so. they look good but not as good as a professional job. I need to look for periwinkle polish!
this color is iced spice. I do have a picture of my teal toes from last summer that I may post
Oh, I misread. thought you wanted to see my toes "blushing"
Retracts toes.......
I am not really into doing anyone elses toes, sorry soodle.
Lol!!!! Damn you, time lag on chog!
soodle, regarding your icon. I just have two G&T and then I need a nap :) so I have both
I do pedicures all year round. It may just be me looking at my toes in the colder months, but I like them with polish on.
do you do you own, Molls.
I wish I could afford professional pedicures more often, but I do not live the life of Reilly.
Yes Peri, mostly I do my own.
I did not get any prof. ones last year.
they are a luxury indeed
FW now off to forage for dinner. bye for now
Sorry. I was elsewhere. I have hideous toes! My pedi's are DIY jobs!
Nothing wrong with doing your own pedicures. And what constitutes "hideous" toes?
Humpy, lumpy, pinky nail misshapen from years of inappropriate footwear. The usual.....
Yikes! Today's Babble should be renamed 'Soodle Confessional'
I must have been wearing good shoes all these years. I don't have any humpy, lumpy or misshapen.
Display your toes with pride, Lady Molly!
Humpy, lumpy, misshapen...... Anyone got any suggestions what I should call the remaining 7 toes?
I never went as far as wearing the goofy Birkenstock things, but I didn't cram my feet into high heels for years like some women have.
< Had to google Birkenstock. :-/
Hippy shoes. : D
Oops, hippie.
Although I suppose there are hippy hippies.
Molly, I'm an old hippy. (Both kinds!) Used to wear Birkenstocks, but moved into Brooks tennies for better support. I did like high heels once in a while because I'm short, but haven't worn them in decades.
howdy again my friends.back for another kick at this grid to see if any words tumble out;))
Hi crossy. I realized, while looking at some of FB posting and comments here, that you are universally adored by fellow bacon lovers ... or at least, there are a multitude of babblers who like to post all things bacon in your honor.
hi all, here's my sad frown for today's little grid 8-(
ai indeed do adore bacon and have shared many of my bacon creations with babblers and they in turn think of me when bacony goodness comes their way:)
howdy,gwen
And we all know it! I saw a commercial on tv the other night for Wright bacon, turned to my beloved and said, "Oh, crossy from Babble would like that!"
i have a collection of over 75 main course now that involve bacon:))
and it has the added benefit that women all over the world are thinking for crossy:)))))))
lol!
thinking of*
everytime bacon comes up they will think of me:))
we all have our strange little quirks lol
and you will not meet to many quirks stranger than crossy:))
Or quarks, for that matter. ;)
lol
there's something inherently weird in playing online boggle and chatting about it . . .
top row done woo hoo
weird can only be defined by the status quo.if you are a room full of like minded people it is no longer weird but normal;)
Which is probably why so many of us feel right at home in this chat.
indeed, weird is outside.in here everything is fine ty
(looks nervously around, says nothing)
Floors are finishing up (having cork floors installed today) so have to go sign off on stuff. bbl
good evening all
reminds me every time about that odl twilight zone movie where you see a operationg theatre and they only show the people from the shoulders down and they are frantically operating on a woman with a massive facial deformity.you never see her face at first,it is wrapped in gauze.as they slowly remove the bandages a nurse screams, drops the tray of instruments and begins sobbing.then you hear a doctor say the operation was a failue.then the camera pans to a beautifu woman under the gauze and everyone else has reptillian faces
howdee wv!
howdy,teach
oh, geez, crossy, spoil the ending!
lol,it aired in 1963,gwen
yeah, so everyone has seen it! lol (i could list how often a movie or tv show has been ruined for me by that sort of assumption, but i won't)
lol, there are 145 other episodes i will not tell you the ending of then
them
last one aired in the early 70,s i think
then they had a short live the new twilight zone in the 80,s
Floors look great! And I remember that episode on tv -- my mom used it as a teaching moment to remind me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. May I have a clue for wr6 please?
then twilight zone the movie which was a bit of fun
and if you look you will see stepehn king as one of the actors in the movie
nm - got it
sorry,ch1212,i was distracted;)
I will have to watch it again and look for King. I like Twilight Zone better than Outer Limits (do not adjust your television screen...)
squee is so a word
indeed, twilight zone was a masterpiece (most of the time) and outer limits was usually pretty low brow, but sometime fun. i'm a huge fan of twilight zone, not a fan or outer limits
Have tgo go again -- bbl.
and everyone knows the one with burgess meradith as the meek, book loving banker
the one that freaked me out was the mannequin
lol
yes, i know 'em all, as i said, we all have out little quirks lol
then the one with william shatner as a businessman losing his mind in a airliner
and the one of the jet lost in time.that one moved me at the time
so many *stars* in these early ones
nightmare at 20,000 feet
many of them got their start in the zone
i have a book by his brother Rob Serling.he also wrote some of the screen plays for his brother
yup!
the book is called the left seat
a good guys book involving survivors guilt in a airline crash
the odyssey of flight 33
that is a good one
that is the one lost in time right?
king must of read that one before he wrote his novella the langolears
that story i think is in his collection called four past midnight
hello all :)
howdy,smores
good evening smores
there was one outer limits ep. that i always loved (the premonnition) but for the most part, eh
hey crossy, teach, BDG :)
flight 33 is the lost in time ep. right. (they travel in time after breaking the sound barrier. we'll pretend)
we never saw the outer limits much.we had three channels on a big 60 foot ariel..funny.there seemed to be more quality tv to watch then than now...
i saw outer limits when i was way to young to really understand them, but in the 1980s (?) they started coming out on VHS and i rented as many of them as I could
i watched, candid camera.twilight zone, mutual of omaha's wild kingdom and the undersea adventure of jacques cousteau
two probs with outer limits: 1) they had 25 minutes of story stretched into 50 minutes of airtime (usually), and ii) they usually placed too great an emphasis on the monster in each ep., which sometimes ruined the story completely
yes,the twilight zone was more subtle.they let your mind work a bit more
there was another called inner sanctum as i recall
and rod dahls tales of the unexpected
well, TZ was also only a half hour (except for season 4, which was an hour, and most of those suffer from the same problem as i just mentioned)
and the alfred hitchcock show of course
ah, yes, tales of the unexpected was usually pretty good
don't get me started on hitchcock
lol
and ray bradbury theatre
which i enjoyed
i was a sf geek when sf was not cool:))
i only saw a few ray bradbury theatre but they were pretty well done, IMO
was crossy?
indeed crossy was,shirlock
let's talk about the last time doctor who featured some bacon lol
not a scifi fan anymore?
lol,i only watched the original dr who and cannot comment on any alter shows
of courrse i am,shirlock
NBT finally, OY
later
will always love a good sf tale
1/2 way nbt/nbs :)
congrats smores
the greatest novel of all time is also the first science fiction novel (according to some, anyway) so of course we love science fiction!
first sci fi novel?? well Mr Poe or Jules Verne i would imagine
i would have said the bible *ducks*
mary shelley, if you please
lol,it was a good book until edited by the church of king james time
frenkenstein? what year was that written?
mid 1800?
well poe did a lot of work in the early 1820,s
written 1816, published 1818
i think
will have to look it up
ahh, well she may indeed preceed poe
of course i'm only giving my highly biased opinion here lol
well, since books are your game,we will bow in defference to your wisdom:))
ha HA! lol
woohoo...just monkeyed my last C
yaaa for smores!!
and still, there has not been a good movie or miniseries true to the novel. (many good movies inspired by the novel, and one movie so true to the novel that it's almost gibberish to anyone who hasn't read it)
i waiting for a 12-part BBC miniseries where they really get it right lol
i agree.no good serious movies.the comedy with gene wilder would be the best of the bunch lol
hello all...can i get a clue for the en 6/24 please?
to make wealthy
en+ wealth
en + not poor
duh....thanks.
of course i like gene wilder just on principal
no, i said no good movies that a treu to the novel. one of my faves is so far away shelley might not even recognize it, except for a few of the character names
are true (typo holiday today)
i have long ago learned to be comfortable with my many typos and let my skilled babble wordsmiths translate my pearls of knowledge and wisdom
well, 27 to go and i'm gettin' too hungry to keep going. bbl buddies!
ok,tc gwen
got two left and they are driving me crazy....any clues for ar 5/10 and sa 5/14?
ar 5/10 is a big place for concerts or sports
have ar 5/10 x 2 - one of them is pl of ar 4 and the other is large stadium
sa + some people smoke Cuban c***rs
sa 5/14 is a old fashioned tale with another vowel in the middle
Mini-series close to the book: The Stand. I thought it was very well done and very well cast (except for Molly Ringwold)
thanks!
The Shawshank Redemption also transferred very well to film.
i am done!
thanks for the help!
congrats penquis
Not many books/stories transfer well to film, but some come close. I don't think it's fair to say there are none.
WTG pen :)
evening all!
R's removed...finally got ra6, always forget that one
Hey dan :)
er7?
sorry Bea..
Hi 2Bit
er 7 scraping away tissue
Hello. Just quietly doing the grid and seeing the blue skies and appreciating being out in shirt sleeves today.
Hey Ru, has anyone said that they find your icon of a child with a gun unsettling? : D
got it :)
Hi stid :)
Anyone her live in Rome?
not yet.. give them time :D
Ty, ru.
Only in my dreams Kap :)
<--- actually is Nancy Boy when he was young and white and not Korean
I smors.
hey ruru...that little kid pointing a gun a me is a little creepy :)
LOL! Ru you are so bad...
: D Of course! I should have guessed.
Hi smors. Dropped the H in my greeting. Maybe why this grid is not moving very fast.
:)
Hi Gran Mere. Sounds like you had a lovely day.
<---I'm in a bathrobe
:D
TMI
As long as it's not a house coat
:)
25 left...taking a break
c'mere kid.. want some candy?
omg love the icon molly
: D
I did have a very nice day Molly. I had breakfast and then made a cake that I had wanted to make for several months. I put the finished rounds in the freezer to pull out and frost when we want a little treat. Then, my husband took me to a Chinese buffet restaurant for a special treat. We did a little shopping for greeting cards and then I came home and enjoyed the afternoon warmth outside.
Aw, that sounds perfect Gran Mere. I love Chinese buffet.
er7?
er7 clued at 7:44
Consider yourself invited, Molly. We can get a table for three just so easily!
I can't think of two nicer people to have lunch with. : )
thx for pointing that out molly
We just are so fortunate to hang with Babblers.
need help with NO 5/10 (last one) please
completely blanked on the fact that there are sw in the lower left corner
'evening, folks
no rhymes with the finicky cat who only eats one brand
thnx shirlock
** finito ** last word WE 5/22
our cats sulk and will not eat if we bring home the wrong brand of dry food
Congrats wvteach!!
Nice to see you welki! Did you have a nice day?
hello all! hello Mother!
how's the grid today?
fine with a few teeth
like an old, comb, cross?
lol,indeed
*grin* "chog" is in the grid! :-)
yaa for the madness of the chog!!
oooh. I got NBT and halfway all by myself! might be time to start thinking about supper...
Tom is chopping up things to put into a new recipe from one of the books Nef sent us! stuffed bell peppers...
I think I'll be back later to try to finish. If not... I'll be back on the weekend! *poof*
tomorrow i am doing slowcooker pork chops with cream of shrrom soup, onins and secret herbs and spices and serving it with crockpot rice:) love doing that way.the rice does not stick and i can do up to 4 cups of rice at a time
Hello my lovelies!
howdy,jes
how goes, crossy?
it goes well.any day on this side of the dirt is a good one:))
good attitude :)
know any veterinarians that want to move this way?
getting a bit too much custom ,jes?
my crotchety old associate wants to retire and be a "gentleman farmer"
hire an apprentice or 3:)
which is probably good, cuz there's been several issues with him the last couple years...
i don't have time to train an apprentice! Though I'll probably end up with a new graduate and that's sort of the same.
woo hoo that's firewords - tx all cluers.
3 big strapping lads:))
yaa for dan!!
yay dan!
hah. hahahahahahaha. I've hired 2 years in a row now, and not gotten a SINGLE male applicant.
we have three vets all within a 10 mile raidus and they are all busy as heck
one does all the fixing for the shelter(i undersand they take turns)
3 separate clinics, or 3 doctors?
3 seperate clinics and three seperate docs
all with fresh graduates
so you've got 9 doctors?
though they have a fast turnover.you rarely wait more than 15 minutes
we've currently got 2 1/2, with next clinic 22 miles away
no.three buildings,three doctors,3 graduates
a pair in each building
ah, i see
on one either end of town and one just outside of town
think the one outside of town does large animals as well
how big is your town?
we have several llama and alpaca farms that must make things interesting and one bison
25,000
we used to have a yak farm, but they sold out :)
ah. you live in a MUCH more populated area than I do
yes, thanfully it is spread over a wide area
our town is a bit under 3,000
i would guess the eitre town limits at around 10 miles including a shorline on a bay and blue mountain
ahh tiny place, when i move here the population was 1100
Jes I would think a graduate student would be better than an apprentice, in terms of actual veterinary knowledge.
lol,i would imagine so,molly
Sort of. The problem with a new grad is that veterinary college doesn't actually do a very good job of teaching you to be a veterinarian.
lol "now that you have learned all that, forget it"
Have you thought about advertising in other Vet College publications?
Or are you talking about all Vet Schools in general?
kind of. There is a lot of stuff they pack into your head that you'll never used (I've seen brain surgery, for crap sake!) and you do very little of the much more routine things you'll be expected to do in the real world (I saw exactly 2 geldings in school, and one of those was NOT routine - a 13 year old stud and they wanted a scrotal ablation too)
and not a lot of context to know which of the 2 dozen possible diagnoses for any given presentation are more common than the others...
all of the veterinary colleges, molly
since most veterinary colleges are also referral hospitals, the cases you see in college are the ones that doctors in the real world couldn't figure out or passed on....
Well then, I guess I am right in thinking that a college education is not worth what you pay for it these days.
oh, i learned a lot. and there's no other way to get the job i wanted and now have. but there are... issues.
Hearing things like this makes me understand why college graduates are no longer getting jobs the way they used to.
add to the age old, "No experience" in the field and you've doubled the unemployment of the college educated. (or over qualified).
i dunno...at least in my field, demand is high enough that new grads get hired, experience or no.
I guess I misunderstood your comments about training in vet school then.
maybe a paws between employees?
It would be a lot easier on me to hire an experienced doctor, but it is unlikely i'll get any applicants. so i will be doing a good bit of on-the-job training.
just keep them on a short leash
<---pulling out arsenal of vet puns
having done 30 years of counseling and advising at the college level...there are some "fields" that really aren't employable...history, political science, fun subjects to study, but unless you plan on law school and a life in politics...not a viable degree of study. same with psychology, can't do a darn thing with a bs in psych, have to have at least a masters degree to even be considered for employment.
heh. yeah, the problem is i don't have a lot of time for obedience lesions, ruru :P
that's not what I hear :D
are you looking for a doctor? how about a vet tech?
time to walk mr d.. see you later taters
no, ru, those lesions don't have ME holding the leash...
i'm looking for a doctor. I just hired another tech, but if she doesn't work out i'll be looking for another later.
good luck in finding the right doctor to come to your practice. If they only knew what a paradise you live in they'd be flocking to your doors!
getting sleepy, going to head for the pillows. see you all tomorrow.
heh. i try to get them to visit and see the place :)
sleep sweet
anyone here? need help w/ er7 pls!
in and out, cosdem... don't have it yet, sorry.
removal of pencil marks

hey all
thanks, chrisk!
hi stid
yw
I see you're looking for a new doc, jes-- good luck with that. I don't think I know anyone right now who is looking for vet work.
thanks, stid :)
