chrissie, how's the return to work going?
Not too bad rose. Back on half days first but did first full day onthursday and have been totally wiped out since. It's good to get the brain working and mixing with people again though. Thanks for asking rose.
good for you chrissie. know th4 feeling well. just rest as much as possible. are you going to attempt consecutive days yet?
NBT, NBS
yay glant
might have run out of steam LOL - about a third of the way through
Not yet. The plan for this week is 4 hlf days and a full day on Friday to give the w/e for sleping!
I don't have to do any solo site visits yet, so that's a relief.
what do you do, Chrissie?
Can I get a clue for the an8 please
Surveyor Glant
an8 - for every superhero there is an an8
against + male star in movie
ty both
Guessing site visits can be physcally demanding. Good luck with your managed return.
Yes, thank you
chrissie, good to maintain shorter consecutive days. i had to re-educate myself to get up and get ready for work, day after day.
You do work long hours though rose
i then built on the shorter hours very gradually. had to be very strict with myself. still not doing a full shift, but am maintaining a 9 hour okay.
9 hours is more than most people's full shifts
forgive me, i forget sometimes, yes th4 are long hours, but i have done them for most of my life. it's the 'norm' for me. lol
At present I come home, have a light lunch, go to bed for a nap, then take the dog for a short walk. Full time will be a real shock!
Superwoman rose. ;)
slowly, slowly, chrissie. take little steps, sweetie. and as your strength returns, you will be able to work longer.
after my cancer treatments they brough me back on 6 hour days, which was fine until they changed my line manager who didn;t think it poor to ask me to drive an unneccessary 60 miles within that 6 hour day...
i was whacked on the driving days!
accckkk!! glant, you poor love.
I bet !
and she couldn't see that it only left me 4 hours to actually do any work so it was hard to get much odne
i ended up taking a grievance against her, and changed jobs shortly afterwards
ye4, you would just get in4 the swing, and it would be knock-off time.
Can I ask Glant, how long till you were fully fit again and what do you do?
but eventually I got all my stamina back
Fully fit - depends on how you judge that. I am probably still not fully fit, in the sense that if I don't take what I eat I get incredibly tired (and I don't always remember that until it happens LOL), but I was 80-90% well by a year after treatments
At that time I was a farm liaison officer - advising farmers of the rules of their EU farm subsidies and helping them complete their forms and assessing whether they were fraudulent or had made mistakes when things went wrong, but prior to that I'd been an education officer, and now I'm an education manager.
with you glant, on th4 one, only with me it is the analgesia. i usually remember when my back starts to ache. i try to space them so th4 i can take them again before bed.
I develop and manage learning activities in Welsh castles.
hence your icon, glant
If I hadn't been taking Anastrazole I woudl have recovered more quickly, the side effects held me back for a few years. Been totally off meds since 2011.
Now old age is starting to kick in and I'm slowly growing a collection of aches and pains LOL
Wow, what an interesting job you're in now. The EU role must have been a nightmare
wish i could come off my meds. :( tried it once, not a good idea.
The EU job was actually nice working with the farmers (once I'd gained their trust) bu I hated the paperwork LOL
Everybody told me when I went for it that the farmers would be hideous but they were nice to me - I guess you get back what you give out to some extent
Whatever gets you through the day rose
The current job was fabulous for the first 5 yars but it going downhill rapidly - getting paperwiork bound, seem to have to spend more time ticking boxes than actually doing my job these days
*wriggles in seat with happiness* can't wait to do my world tour. want to start in the UK, then 'flow' over europe, then the americas. but not until we have no responsibilities he4, though
That's a shame
You cna come stay with me Rose, I'll show you the best Welsh castles LOL
counting on it, glant, counting on it, hun
Nice to look forward to rose. Have you decided what you are doing during the upcoming respite period?
it's very strange, but neither himself or i have any desire to see the middle or far east countries.
I think I'd like to go see the rose red city of Petra in Jrdan
chrissie have one little away time booked. going up north a ways, to escape the bitter cold he4. a little town, called echuca. not so little now, but still nicely away from home.
went to Egypt once and was overwhelmed by the numbers of people and also lack of personal space and being pestered by beggars
have to admit, we both love the pacific islands. so our next big holiday may well be another cruise of the pacific.
dream holiday....
looovvveee cruising.
fiji, nauru, solomon islands, new Britain.... oooh...
right on, sister. have been to fiji, vanuatu and new caledonia so far. i guess you could count new zealand in th5.
love NZ too
especially north island
Lovely to talk to you ladies, flitting out now, bbl
which reminds me, if anyone sees groovykiwi on FB please give her my love. she and her fella were the perfect hosts in wellington.
bye Chrissie
bye chrissie.
aww, glant. our cruise ship went right into milford sound. we had the most wonderful day th5.
i got stranded by the tide somewhere in milford sound, back in 1976 LOL
we had taken a lifeboat out to test the engine following repairs, beached it and went for a walk and were stunned to come back to find it high and dry
you'd think the 2nd and 3rd mates would have known better LOL. A nice NZ man in a small boat took me back to our ship while the en waited for the tide to come in...
rofl, oh no, really? what an experience!
yes, it was, because it was quite windy and the little boat didn't half go up nd down a lot LOL. I had to climb a 60 foot rope and wood ladder to get back onto the ship with wobbly legs LOL
omg, glad it was you and not me!!
and now I've realised I'm talking about the wrong place, it was south island NZ but in the sound off Lyttleton
HELLO to EVERYONE!!!
Hi Puglet
well, i'm half way and word blind, so I think I'll take a break and see what leaps off the screen at me later - bye all

Hi and bye giant
How was your day Rose
*giggle* puglet. how are you, hun?
lovely thanx. started with church, followed by a shared luncheon to celebrate harvest sunday. then a very quiet arvo, fiddling about, then playing babble and now chogging.
Iam feeling lots aches and pains in every joint available in the human body this morn--lal
sounds like you had a lovely fulfilling day
awww poor puglet. * gentle hugs*
ahh thank you Rose--just one of the gifts of aging I guess. Other then the aches Iam good
have you taken you pain meds yet? or am i teaching my grandmother to suck eggs?
I take it hubby return homed yesterday
lol, yes he did, quite late. it was after dark!! apparently he washed 153 jars and lids in the process of cleaning out mum's pantry.
the only meds I take is a vit. for aging women
He surely came home with extra clean hands-lol---do you can
Clues are up
Any lists posted?
puglet, see if th5 is available paracetamol tabs, 625mg strength. th4 last longer and are very good for aches and pains due to arthritis. take them at least twice per day regularly.

Probably lots of stuff in there from the last grid - couldn't type without using a grid word!
Teehee..i loved the grid yesterday.
i suppose lots of people will end up there for asking for a hi4/5
yeah that was a lovely one
Me too - I was only sad that I didn't have enough time to complete more of it before I listed - had guests for lunch today - just left!
rear
don't think i've ever seen a grid with none of the letters greyed out
As long as you had a good time, Liz.
Certainly did! Both with the grid and the guests :)
Did you do all the cooking or did you get help?
We cooked :)
Only 6 of us in total, so nothing to stress over!
It is nice when it is all shared..not one person doing all of it.
My hubby and I both love cooking
All my parents ever seem to eat these days is soups or egg on toast..but th4 say th4 are happy..so fair enough i suppose.
cooking is my favorite. what did you make?
yayyy Ks konkuerred
Chicken wings in sweet chilli / soy marinade and N. African style meatballs (cinnamon and all spice) in a tomato sauce
Ks , Sprite's fav letter.
yay spritey
they hate me and it is mutual.
I only have 4 x k so far!
Why doesn't enable like the koran?
cuz it needs a kapital
ooh that sounds devine, Liz..when you having them next..wait let me check the next flight times..lol
So do lots of other words, which are akksepted.
lol zooz
yeah but they only are accepted if they also have a meaning that is written with lower case.
oh, dear...himself just went out to feed the mother...no jelly and fruit made...fortunately, for him, she doesn't want any. lol.
sounds delish indeed!
lol rose
OK sprite - I know and I'm just being picky!!!
liz, change the last consonant, hun
aw sorry and I am taking it seriously! Not quite awake ehre...
then th5 were 5. Thanks Rose :)

I noticed that too!

loves ya spritey. you certainly make my day!!
:D
Spritey, Did you watch the eurovision song contest last night?
nah. Not my kinda thing. Have I missed something special?
Not really..did not mind the Netherlands entry though.

*thank goodness my study days are over*
may the knowledge fly into your brain and be available whenever you need it to come out ;)
I couldn't go back to studying or to teaching for that matter
finally past halfway. Not a fast grid for me so far.

Have slowed down!
gooooo Liz!
I was really struggling to find any words from the first E....when all of a sudden the EYs came into view..strange how it happens th4 way.
hehehe ye4, babble blindness lifting :)
I got the same problem with the 'k'--nothing is popping out but a blurr if letters--lol
Ye4! Halfway!
the Ks are nasty today. There is even a compound. Had to monkey myself silly to get them all.
yay Liz!
It might help if I got out of watching this race
ty for the thought of a compound k - gave me ke 6
good!
It is nice the puzzle lasts for 24 hours..give me a chance to go away & come back at anytime..not like those sites where you have 5 or 10 minutes to complete..i can't do those ones.
Agreed
Not even interested in those
ditto
I don't like time limits much either, zooz. I love the pace of babble.
I like the chat too
yes :D
I like the chat also..even better when you get hints like the KE6..many thanks, Spritey!
my pleasure, zooz!
chat, chat, chat....i'm still he4...now don't talk about me....
That part may be the best------
20 mins til Doctor Who!!!!

(((Rose))) Only nice things are ever said about you :-)
more like a speed hump, sprite
*giggles*
I know it has been a while since you had all those flowers, Rose..but are th4 still holding out?
oh btw, speaking of mother's day... my family did not make me a breakfast, but they brought me lovely sweet gifts and my love cooked me a lovely dinner! They had NOT forgotten.
reminds me of when second son was learning to drive. we were going down a secondary road, when he reminded me of the speed humps...and i said "is th4 what th4 call quickies these days?" he went very quiet...bless him
awwww that is so sweet!
zooz, the lilies are just opening....
LOL, Rose
Th4 is excellent, Spritey i am pleased!
so was I :)
Glad you weren't forgotten :)
sprite,.....and you thought th4 had forgotten. so sweet of them!
Ye4 I shouldn't have doubted them. My girl even made me a brownie!
yay spritey's girl!!! tell her WTG!!! from grannyrose

My mother had lots of chocolates this year..so like a loving son i am..i helped her eat them :-)
Good for you!
you are the best, zooz.
ye4, zooz...don't want her cholesterol to go up, do we?
Teehee.
Now the funny thing is, Rose..th4 is exactly what i said to her..i did get the 'you carfty sod' looking ey4..haha
hehehe good for your Mum too!
am trying to get mother mac to take all of her chocolates to her social group, to share. with her blood sugar levels, i really don't want ANY sweet stuff where she can access it freely.
would be wise
lol, zooz.
Good idea, Rose.
good morning babble friends
Hello, Ruby.

ditto down under.
It was nice yesterday..but looking like it is trying to rain today though :-(
th4 is done..as it is a word in the grid.
ye4??? puglet, alternative way of saying yes.
not at all stupid, puglet. It means there is a word in today's grid of 4 letters, starting th, or ye. We try to avoid posting grid words in the chog th4 way.
baaa and hello {{litte pug}} and there are no stupid questions
Totally agree Ruby - stupid NOT to ask questions.
amen, liz!
I have a T-shirt that says: "There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people."

A momma cat and four babies demanding food on my back porch.
hi TOwl and all

you must have developed a reputation
They are looking for their Daddy!
I guess.
Momma brought them out from under the house during the night,
aw bea how cute
There is still one under the house squealing its head off. Guess we will have to go on a rescue mission soon.
they must be desprate or the mom is a lost pet
oh dear!
if feral would not do that i think
maybe there is a little signpost saying 'soft touch' in cat and pointing to your house?
oh is this a repeat, bea? :)
She is a feral cat that lives in the neighborhood, TO.
Yesterday afternoon, one of Wally's littermates fell out of the ceiling of the front porch.
good heavens!
Not sure how many more might be up there from a completely different feral momma.
did any puupies fall?
LOL! I had the same thought. And it was raining at the time.

K's killed

Hey sue..ltns...how are you doing?
thanks, TO! We kept it kind of quiet as I didn't want lots of people coming (just don't have the energy for it right now), we will have a big party/reception later in the summer and invite everyone
hi India, we are good, happy to be married at last!
Cngratulations!
hi sue! happy postnuptials to you!

interesting icon today, sue
hi, ruby, thanks!
There was a big article about poutine in the New Yorker a year or two ago, I think by Calvin Trillin who went all over Québec searching for the best one
today, probably for the first time here, I had a wonderful steak for lunch, served with a large slab of foie gras. Heavenly!
heart attack on a plate but sooooo delish
There are some pretty intersting permeations of poutine to be sure
ooh, that sounds lovely, ruby!
E third column stats please?
We have found it impossible to buy decent steak at any of the butchers; it is always too lean and, therefore, tough and tateless

I've never been to Wisconsin..or Cyprus ei**** for that matter..I know your grandbabies are in Cyprus but what brings you to Wisconsin?
I have friends in Mukwanago, not far from Milwaukee
so nice to visit friends
I wnet in 2007 and have been tryinhg to get thing together to go again ever since and I hooe this is the year, other firends are flying in form Washington state and california to join ius
very nice
I had hoped to bulild a side trip to Portland into the visit but my firend there has a son/daughter who is about to have a transgender operation in October so I can't visit this year
W is one of the few states I haven't been to in the lower 48 and husband is from Michigan right next door
Portland Maine or Portland Oregon
Wisconsin is very similar to Wales in temrs of scenery, but has much colder winters
Portland Oregon
I wish your friend's child well that is a big step
It is a huge step but one he/she has been working towards since 2007
this will be the final stage
Wales is on my list too..travelled through on a train out of Euston Station to take the ferry to Eire but never set foot on it
if you took the ferry from MIlford Haven, you travelled within 10 miles of me
I think I saw you waving
If you took the ferry from Holyhead you will have seen the wonderful scenery of snowdonia and passed my chilf=dhood home
there are some beautiful places here
I believe it was Holyhead..back in 1999
I have viisted many parts of the world, but the scenery of Wales is always beautiful, and restful, somehow
yes it is
You have some very dramatic scenery in the north american continenmt
one of these days when he retires we'll spend some quality time in the British Isles
you'd always be welcome to visit and stay over
that we do but it's so big we have a hard time driving 2 hours away
thank you glant and the same to you if you're ever in New England
whereabouts are you?
oh, i have always wanted (like the rest of the world) to see fall in new england LOL
I'm in RI..that little postage stamp of a state between Massachusetts and Connecticutt
Rhode Island?
I have a friend there too
who I have never met
I have never looked at a map but somehow thought RI was near NY
yes..father-in-law used to tease and say it was so small the initials had to go in the ocean
we're about 4 hours from New York City
not so close then LOL
what part of RI is your friend from?
hi
how did you come through the big stor? I know my firend was worried
oh, i can't remmember - is Nantucket in RI? That might be it
we had a power outage but since we're not on the water we fared well
Hi Harpjane
Nantucket is an island off the coast of Massachusetts
so i clearly can't remmeber LOL
Hi HJ, ruru was asking about you earlier...he'll be in Montana in June...maybe we can do a day trip to Bozo area?
Pawtucket
sounds fun jj

ours are spread all over too and oldest grand is moving to Tennessee on June 3rd so this is a farewell dinner
had hoped to get our locals here but too many couldn't make it
All but 2 of our 10 grandkids are right here, but with jobs and weekend jaunts to the mountains, we NEVER get them all together.

I made a lovely ham and cheddar cheese quiche this morning
I love them too, and even though she does, they make her lips and the inside of her mouth swell and her throat tightens up.
yummmm
we have one that cantaloupe does that to
what else is on the brunch menu?
sausages, bacon, ham, croissants, cream cheese, Sunday morning breakfast pie, muffins, fruit plate, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. ... and whatever else I think of !!

Anybody still here?
I just came in.
Hi Bea, how are you doing today?
I'm well. And you?
Resting before doing some gardening.
I'm trying to babble with an annoying 8 week old kitten on mt keyboard.
I am in Zone 4 so it is now a safe time to plant tomatoes, etc.
except the high is 59 today. at least here it is.
brrrr
It is 77 here and we have a nice week ahead. We had snow last Sunday and Monday--nothing that stayed on the ground though.
weather!
Hursh, momma cat brought another cat to the porch. A total of five.
cats cats cats
Play date for the kitties.
Its 91 here right now...
I feel like the old woman in the shoe except with cats.
A neighborhood cat, a Siamese, just peeked up on my front deck here then ran off.
Hot, hot, Jan!
Yup..hot!
I see from your profile that you live near Sarnia--that is where Babbler carleekat lives.
I passed halfway so that is enough. Off to gardening.
bye scrabs
hi all
hello je
hi TO i was beginning to think everyone was in hiding
i only came out for you
Scrabs, may I have permission to post the unanswered Prayer" on my facebook page?
well i am flattered i guess. . . i am sorry everyone is walking on eggshells these days. . .
i would think since it was written by a confederate soldier mklein it is in the public domain. . . .
i seemd to have hurt my back
Thanks. I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.
i just wish people would stop breaking eggs in here and then come in barefoot! Really everyone is too sensitive. . . .
i am sorry how di dyou hurt your back?
*starts sweeping up eggshells from floor of the chog*
: >)
I haven't told a story in a long time and i think it is time to tell one. . . i had a friend in high school. we were very close . . .and then we went to different colleges. . . .
i don'tknow but it just happened
that is how i hurt mine too TO
since this was pre-email and facebook we lost touch with each other. . . and then I moved to DC. . .
I became a Quaker, got married, and had a kid. . .
but i never stopped asking friends if they knew about my friend from high school. . . .
one day a friend from Texas sent me an email with a ling to a newspaper article in a Houston Paper. . .
the article was about my friend and how hard her life had been. . .she was a single mother and he son had fallen in with the wrong crowd. . . .she went on to work with a Quaker organization on social justice issues. . .
I was so excited to find my friend again and tracked down her work number and the first thing out of my mouth was how it made me laugh to read the article. . . because i was going to say how it was odd that we both ended up single mothers and connected to Quakers and had struggled with her son. . . .
but she hung up on me and would never take my call again. . . i realized too late that the article was focused on the fact that her son had been killed in gun violence so she clearly felt i was very vicious in trying to express my joy. . . but it was joy in finding her to be her friend again. . .
I learned that day what i periodically have to relearn that people don't hear what is in our hearts and we don't hear what is in other people's hearts so we hurt ourselves and others by not assuming that the person talking had the best of intentions. . .
of course the path the hell is paved with good intentions. . .
so i will say here what i have said at meet ups and on facebook and here:
If you think someone is being rude you will hear rude things. . . but if you assume that they are either making a joke or something stupid just fell out of their mouths and they didn't mean what came out in the way you are hearing it you too can come dance with me in the chog. . .
clur for the 9 please
and if they meant it to be rude they will be thwarted. . .
all i know is th9 matches
what prompted this?
*puts soap box back in the cupboard in the pb*
oh a series of comments in FB about rudeness and then the reaction in the chog over the last week. . . .
that's the one I need
*looks for a ham sandwich in pb* i think i am stuck in he** for a while. . . .
i will look with you matches. . . .
I am usually a lurker, and have seen many convos like that, and bravo to you, jmc, for getting through the murk to a great way of clearing it all up
they are words i try to live by kalea. . .
Well said, JMC! Bravo!!
it builds on the th7. . .
allee-allee-all in free!!!!!!!
i still weep about my high school friend. . .
ty great clue
haha yw matches
ty soodle
but you have learned, and have probably saved many other relationships by living out what you have learned
well i can't say i don't still slip. . . sometimes i think i have on those shoes in the commercial where you clean your floor and lose weight at the same time! haha
hi all
I love it when lurkers de-lurk. Hi Kalea. :-)
hi peri
And hi Peri. :-)
me too soodle. . . i does my best to pry them out of the shadows!
lol........hi Soodle
any clue for an 8 so i can get nbs even if i am destined never to get nbt?
that is a sad story, je. but when folks repeatedly take after a person thing or subject there is not room fro the benefit of the doubt.
'Lurker-winkling'......it could catch on.....
*thinks there's money to be made in those kind of shoes............do they come in red?
you can't control that TO . . . you can only control how you react and i choose to react like little mary sunshine . . .
an8...........against the good guy
i think the ones in the commercial are black. . .
no but one would be a fool to assume purity of motive
antichrist isn't in the grid. . .
thnx kalea
i am sure that i agree with you on that TO. . . many people see their motives as pure when others don't. . . sometimes as self protection. . .
hi wv!
most welcome
I'm just back from a lovely family getogether. The sun shone, and there were no arguments. TWO firsts!
i got it! ty kalea

ty gemini. . . i believe in modeling. . . and i don't mean i think i am tyra banks. . .
;-)
stiddy! you 've beenin thr grid of late.
Oh! Kalea! Be careful what you wish for! Lol. A bunch of nut jobs, most of them. Hi Stid. :-)
so I hear, TO -- I don't usually have energy to play these days
stiddie i never did find a book list for you. . . i gots lots of books. . .
what's on tap for the holiday weekend? it is so early!
stiddie, I have been looking for books and pictures for you.
lol Soodle.........you haven't met my beloved clan
thanks peri and jmc.
I start my last class on next monday but this monday an intern is starting to work with me. . . .
I don't have things together much, jmc I think feather knows how to find my booklist on Amazon
I thought you graduated, jmc
oooh, mentoring an intern! how very cool!
okay if i ever see feather again . . .
i graduated with an empty sleeve. . . i have one 7 day class to go. . . healthy organizations. . .
wait, didn't you graduate?
I am excited about the intern. . .this will tell me whether i can get it together or not. . .
i am suppose to bring to class a description of an organization of which i am a part. . .
Ah, you'll do fine, jmc... describe babble. *wicked mama-student grin* they'll have a great deal of fun analyzing us! rofl
is babble an oranization?
don't think i haven't thought about it! haha
stid: i really think this is a social experiment and that many folks have received their PhDs courtesy of us
but no i don't think it is. . . it is more of a community. . . or dysfunctional family. . . take your pick ;-)
well my degree is a masters in conflict resolution! haha
did you ever check out that conflict resolution website?
oh and nbs thanks to kalea. . .
i did TO . . . i look at it from time to time. . .
go jmc go!
stid why are you soliciting?
and je is it of any use?
soliciting?
soliciting? *confused mama look*
<---certifiably useless
lol stid wants books or something and want to know what je thinks of the conflict resolution newsletter
the books? I was just thinking i could help replace some of her books lost in the fi** with ones i own. . . .
oooh! thanks for the new word jmc. :-) you'd think it would stand out more.
haha i read that as "Is JE of any use" haha
basic denial stiddie. . . ;-)
hm. probably, jmc
it has not yet been helpful but it make yet so i check it out from time to time. . .
:P
:p
well, now that we got that out of the way...
what pictures are you looking for stiddie? to hang in the new house?
for NBT, the A in the fourth row down, and the E on the far right please?
the very reasons i do not have nbt stiddie. . .
pictures... now I really AM confused! *sigh*
ei6/21
(checks the score card) peri said she was looking for books and pictures for you. . . .
aha! thanks kalea
why should you be any less confused than the rest of us, stid?
an8/45
an4/4
right! :-) she goes to garage sales and is an artist, so I asked if she saw or made anything that might brighten up a space... I lost most of the art of course, and what wasn't actually lost is no longer worth displaying.
att6/18, 7/28
yep. thats NBT for me, thanks Kalea!
most welcome
ooo i think i may have just the picture if it isn't too girly. . . a fairy. . . payment by a client many years ago. . . i wonder if i can find it. . .
that 's interestin, stid. art is so personal.
nbt. . .ty kalea
;-) if it's too girly, I'll hang it in MY room, jmc! I have decided to paint my art room a pale pink this time, and not share it with anyone!
i will look for it. . . i took it down at the beginning of construction. . .
it's always fun to be paid in kind. . . i got a deck, a candelabra, a rug. . .
lots of shrimp. . .
lots and lots of shrimp. . . .
some etheopian food. . .
and more shrimp. . . .
he owed me a lot. . .
:-D when and if, and no worries. Right now I can't even find an important piece of paper I need to sign to stay employed as a sub next year. *sigh*
yum! like food!
i am sure they would send you another copy of the paper. . .
yes, they can, but I only realized it was mssing today. will keep looking this afternoon and worry about the rest another time.
i have done that a few times myself. . . i usually find it when i decide that i MUST. . .
right now i am missing my business atm card but since i use it so ra**le i don't worry about it. . . but i really should look for it. . .
yes, the black pit of my disorganized life... *sigh*
the other day I thought I had lost my atm card, but it was just in the back pocket of the jeans I had been wearing.
hehe i already check them. . .
well the sun is out for a bit so i think i am going to go try to tame the grass in my back yard. . .
153 left. . . bye all!

I am very very happy for you
thanks, lynxxx! There were other people taking pictures too so maybe there are some non-blurry ones.
sorry - must dived into the grid as I must get some reading done ASAP....bye everyone
bye lynxxx!
Goodbye lynxxx!I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe
hi and bye, min, I am going to take some Claritin and go to bed - seem to be coming down with a cold. Sigh.
long time no chat, hunh? (hi all)
hi Gwen. I didn't get time til now to do the grid (babysitting the grandson); first time here today.
I've been lurking, Gwen, so I'll say hi to you. Oh, Nef already has.
why, hello, lurkums! 8-)
hi RoundBarn. I got your email but with the grandson here haven't had time to answer yet.
Nef, I've been figuring the Mlps trip--hear you had a terrific storm around 6 today--
Actually, at this point I'm not even lurking; just passing through.... and seeing if anyone is here or not. :-)
We did have a storm but we did okay here.
nope, nobody is here, move along . . .
how are you doing, Gwen?
My nephew-editor in Madison is going to be in Mongolia instead of Mlps so I'm finding someone else to drive--I could probably do it but Spfld to Mlps is a long way
meh, have a lingering cold (or something) and behind on all my bills (except the internet connection). anyone need me to find 'em a book? lol
How far is it? I definitely think it's nice to have someone along for a trip....
well, Gwen; I'd like to find stid's book list (wish list) over on Amazon and ask you to help find a book or 2 for her...
mongolia?!
it would be hard to help someone who already has a list on amazon, i mean, amazon is so huge and has so many vendors that if she can't find it there, it would be hard for me to find it (although not impossible)
I realized on the England trip--just back--that I've lost a lot of stamina from foot op, and gaining weight from little exercise--so I'm training for the mlps marathon. Gwen, I bet you have my books in your collection--you deal in used books, right? all mine are o.p except the northwestern ones and the more recent farm biog ones.
i mean, there are still some bookdealers who do not list on amazon. they still have their pride LOL
I totalled a car in 2006 driving back from Chicago about 100 miles east of St. Paul hitting a deer. Unfortunately, it was my daughter's prized Sebring convertible; (and I doubt she's ever forgiven me!) It's really nice to have someone along for company and support when I do road trips
mongolia: he works for National Geographic and is leading a group in Mongolia, then two later in the sumer to Yellowstone. I've never been to Y'stone so ought to go--maybe next go-round.
cool! i don't known about mongolia but i bet it's at least as cool as yellowstone
Sue if you are still here.....I just looked at your lovely pictures.....they show such a happy couple. Lovely lady and a handsome dude too. So happy for you both.
Gwen; I can't find her list there. I'd order from you; but I still don't know any books she wants.
thanks for trying, though, nef 8-)
hi peach!
Hi there, Nef. How are you this evening?
Gwen, do you have Paleface Redskins? that's the one I get asked for most, my nephew says we should put it on the net electronically, it's so expensive second hand I can't buy it. All my others are cheap.
I like small bookstores. We have a few left around here that I should visit since it's been a while.
When I lived in Mlps that 6 months, we went to the small bookstores.
please be aware, i have only about 5,000 books for sale. however, i can also do a book search, in which you give me a title and a price limit (and any other factors, such as hardcover only) and I report back if I can find the book, then you agree to buy it, then i get it for you
roundbarn, you speak as though you are a bookdealer or an author, i can't tell
Peach; we've had the grandson for the past several days and it was a busy work week for me last week. I'm ready for a day off; but it won't happen this week.
also, can you tell me if paleface redskins is nonfiction or what?
thanks for that info. Palefaces is so non p.c. that nobody would reprint it.
Book doctor, how do I get hold of you?
she's an author, Gwen
click on my icon, which will get you to my profile, which has my url, which has my contact info
Hi all :)
hi Liz!
roundbarn, okay, but fiction or nonfiction?
Got it. Thanks
thank you, too, godthaab
(looking up paleface redskins, brb)
Nef, please try to pace yourself until you can get some "down" time. I'll be sending.
Hi there, Liz.
I am looking for some hard to find books. We'll be in touch.
Gwen, I'm an author (and a retired prof)--have 14 books. One more to go on my "life work"--the barn biogs. My daughter has made a good websire dalled roundbarnstories. Not a memoir. I'm in the book occsaionally as a character participating in events. I told my grampa I'd write him a book--when I was fifteen--and this is it. Vol 3 to come.
Thanks, peach. I have a bunch of cleaning and laundry and some work for tomorrow, and then we'll be at DH's retired Federal Employees state convention; so I'm not overdoing it; just hustling to get ready to go and attend meetings and return by Thursday night.
looked up the book and it is not common. about $50 and up. OY
yes--the others are reasonable but this one hit a chord with readers and they want it for their kids and grandkids. I only have the ones put away for my grandkids.
I've been reading your site, RoundBarn and am anxious to read your books. I always feel like a traitor when I get them from the library; but right now I can't afford to buy one right now.
And I haven't said hi to all you entering. Hi, all. I usually lurk, you all know eachother so well. I'm beginning to know Nef and Sue Willis and I notice many of you--wonder how Soodle is doing after her bad electric shock a little while ago.
Soodle got a shock? What was she doing?
Nef, I'll bring you gift books of the ones in print.
Need to check my emails......bbl
she was messing with an electric water heater and got thrown across the room.
that's not good!
No, RoundBarn, I'm going to have some $$$ after we sell Aunt Jean's condo this summer. I'm a bit short on $$ because we fixed our kitchen and then decided to do some stuff to update the condo a bit.
YIKES!. I did that once as a kid and have been very careful ever since with electricity.
Nef, what you do is get the libraries to buy them. That's a great help. and Gwen, a lot of my books are fiction, but the barn books are creative non-fiction.
And for adults, though there are parts kids will like.
hi babble land
Hi DR
hi, DR
How are you doing tonight, DR?
when I got down here to central Illinois I found people say hey insted of hi.
hey!
I'm confused; why would people say Hey instead of Hi?
nice to see everyone
dialect!
some people say "yo" or "howdy" or any number of things 8-)
Oh! (DUH, didn't think about dialect; all I could think of was when we say "hey")
Sorry- Nef- I was in the phone- I am good... just tiredof running around with my budding actor
hey all -- did the actor-boy have a decent day? did you?
signing off is sometimes a problem--cheers? ta ta? etd anyway I gotta get to bed tmr's a work day--I haven't come close to finishing a rid yet, these bigger ones are as hard as thosw tiny ones several days ago. I may improve. There was a guy a few week ago who did one in 4 minutes. The babblers were almost speechless. Cheers.
He is TIRED and his infected toe is gross but all in all it was a good day after this morning
thanks for asking
sorry about the toe
greetings roundbarn, hope you'll be in again sometime when I am aroudn!
Klahowya ladies. That is the old the greating from the pigeon-English that was used by the traders and the natives here on the west coast
we are soaking and antibiotics. :( It will be ok ... just a bum in hte road
night, roundbarn!
niters, RoundBarn. Stay well!
bye roundbarn
stid! how are you today?
one of my best "doctor mom" moments was when one of the boys had dropped a heavy drawer on his foot and smashed the toenail. Needed to lance through the toenail to relieve pressure. Pretty interesting to talk to a nurse over the phone for how to do it... *science-mama look*
hi stid!
OUCH! That sounds painful
I'll stay on long enough to say you're one of the babblers I watch, Stidmama--felt bad abt your fire, and glad at your resilience
I am well, Bugs -- LOVE the tea, using it in my tall mug when I teach this month. :-)
thanks roundbarn -- feeling more resilient today than some, but I know eventually we will be through to the other side and things will be "okay" again.
It was painful UNTIL I lanced it, then with the pressure gone the kiddo was fine.
I am so glad you are enjoying it. When your new home is ready I have something else for you, not practical just beautiful.
I am suprised your boy would let you near his toe stid. Mine wud have pitched such a fit at the thot it could hurt more
impractical will be PERFECT, bugs -- I am having to be SO practical with all these decisions, and I am not as you know a very practical person.
stid, did they have you heat a paper clip and poke a hole through the nail? I had to do that to myself when I smashed my thumb; not fun; but was really a relief afterwards.
I think you are amazingly practical! Your teaching aprons for instance. I had one when I worked with the little ones who needed lots of visual cues.
Well, it was either that or the 45 minute drive to the doctor's office, and he wanted that less and yes, net, that was it! :-) the heat melts the keratin (no additional pressure needed and it was like a mini yellowstone!
oooh Nef. I guess I would rather have a hot pin than a drill of some sort
My kid is soaking it on his own. WOnt let me near it
what did he do DR? I missed that part
epsom salts is my family's favorite way to deal with localized infections
I don't know Bugs! I think it was an ingrown that he picked at.
(reading and thinking ewwww)
We are using epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic bandaids... and YES GWEN--- it is EWWWW
Yuck. My first husband had that when he was a kid and it grew all funny after that. It must have been 1/4 " thick. Tell him not to pick in case it happens to him.
I hate dealing with ingrown toenails.
I will Bugs!
so do I Nef! he will survive though ... I promise
We saw the musical Zombie Prom today. I had some good music
those terrible tornados today... *sad mama look* it's so hard to lose a home. and harder to lose someone you love.
love those titles that sound like they threw two darts at a wall covered in dramatic words. "zombie" "prom" !!
yes, pretty horrible
reint
LOL I haven't heard about that one before DR, glad you enjoyed it
oops- wrong box- at least it is not a word
It is about a high school boy who commits suicide by diving into the nuclear power plant sludge because his girlfriend dumps him... then he comes back as a Zombie
Very cheesy and tongue in cheek but fun
sounds like my kond of show! lol

i once saw a stage musical based on night of the living dead. it was freakin hilarious
