Wintry here but not by E uropean standards
ruby, was so cold last night i actually got up and put a cardigan on and wore it to bed
Sitting here in trackie bottoms, snuggled under a blanket!
Roast chicken dinner should warm us up!
*giggle* just the bottoms, liz?
Normally, at least for the last 15 years, there have been roses and peonies by now but this year, ony buds

and in july i am going to europe for 6 weeks
yayyy rose!
and this is the person who thought she might get bored when she retired
wow, andree. a very busy time for you...how was italy? when were you there? and, and, and.....
italy was wonderful was there for the whole of september last year
i wonder sometimes when i had time to work
awww, andree. the perfect time, then, hun.
lol, andree, you didn't have time to work...too much to see and do...LOL
i guess thats how i got out of the babble habit as with out work i wasn't in front of a computer all day
travel - babble - its a hard choice
i have never been lass bored lynxxx, i went to Moree for a week lately , cotton picking was happening it was so interesting that i have made a vow to get about our own country a bit more
love hearing your enthusiasm, Andree
and so lovely to talk to you all again

BBS just putting some dinner in the oven for myself
i was nowhere near the floods, on central coast, only 1 hour and 20 minutes to any of my kids places

Hello, All :-)
hi
morning Zooz
Wow it has been a long time no see, Andree..hope you are keeping well!
hey, zooz, how's my main man?
hey, zooz, how's my main man?
Hello from the holy land.
very well
hiccup caught me..;(
((Rose)) how are you ..i heard you had a fall?
Hello, Kap.
hi Kap - where are you?
better thanx, zooz. lots of swelling and bruising, nothing broken or dislocated.
Bless you, Rose, Hope you are resting for a while.
thanx again, zooz. resting is a good word. going back to seated duties only for the next week.
too early to tell if tendons have been damaged.
Well i had to put a gurund(sp)? on the end otherwise i would of been in PB lol
Poor thing, Rose..sitting duties i hope means just that..i know you..probably be up & about after a while.
morning all
Hello, Glantarell.
i am on sitting duties too, lots of pain in laft foot - arthritis or gout - not sure whether it's better to try to keep painfully moving or keep it painfully still and raised
emergency room doctor is being very cautious. yes, i know, zooz. will try to be seated as much as possible. have about 20 theatre registers to audit...should keep me busy for a while. lol
hope you feel better soon Rose and hope it's not a long term recovery
morning, glant. you poor darling.
hi Glant - in the wars again
BBL getting dinner
enjoy, liz. see you tomorrow, hun
i went to the doctor this week because it feels like on thing after another this year - and this after a lifetime of good health (apart form the cancer)
bye Lyn
i have bllood tests next week or the week after to see if there's anything obvious going on
well, hun, we are of an age when things start to go downhill.
Hard one to call, Glant..i have heard some people say best to keep the joints moving..others say keep joints warm but rested.
i ahte being unwell
they say old age is not for sissies but it seems to have landed all of a sidden - i kind of thought it would senak up on me LOL
I hate being ill too, Glant..i should imagine we all do.
doc gave me some gel for the foot - doesn;t touch it. also on ibuprofen which doesn;t seem to be helping. I'd be quite interested in chopping it off at the moment
ditto that, glant. in my head i'm only 40....but thebody says otherwise.:(
Sounds like the painkillers are not strong enough.
i think I'll add some paracetamol into the mix
Well as long as you do not over do it on the pain killers, Glant *giving stern look* with one eyebrow raised.
glant, can you combine the ibuprofen with strong paracetamol. i do, and it generally works quite well. you can take the 2 drugs together as they act on different pathways within the body.
i know, Rose. I just try to avoid doing it unless absolutely necessary. Did it when I had the abscess, for days and days...
I am going to keep touching wood here..so far nothing too major has gone wrong for me..health wise.
well use theibuprofen AND the paracetamol when you wake, and as you go to bed. use once more in the middle if you need to do so.
until this year I've been pretty trouble free with a strong immune system, don;t tend to get coughs and colds ro minor stuff but for the last few months i've hardly gotten over one thing before another arrives. I'm not even old LOL - just 57
i am off now , hope i will not keep away for so long this time, bye all
bye andree
Lovely to see you, Andree..Take care hope to see you again soon :-)
night, andree, dear. don't forget to write, please, hun
zooz and glant? please stay we4. you are both very dear to me. going now, {{hugs and love}} to you both.
Bless you ((Rose))..hope your shift goes well..sweet dreams.

Hello, Crossy :-)
howdy,zooz:))
and now it is time for a early crossy's quote of the day!!!
good morning babblers :)
"normal is an illusion.what is normal for the spider is chaos for the fly.- Morticia Addams
howdy,nono
Hello, Nono :-)
And certain death i would take it, Crossy..poor fly..but the spider has to eat :-)
even my breafast is chaos:) because while the chicken is a participant, the pig is sadly commited
breakfast
lol..true.
lol...Happy Friday all..thanks for the laugh crossy :)
Hello, Smores :-)
hi Smores
howdy,smores
Morning, all.
Hello, Mimi :-)
howdy mimi
Morning Mimi
((zooz))
((Nono))
((crossy))
gotta go...just popped in for a minute :)
Loving this huge grid! Sneezing my way through....terrible allergies.
((smores))
Bye, Smores.
Hayfever, Mimi?
{{gruop hug}} have a great day everyone :)
bye smores
from what? 52 words yesterday to over 300 today:/ woul love a nice 200-250
sorry about the allergies Mimi, we have rain this morning which is clearing out a lot of the allergens
I would love a 700-1000 :-)
Oh, Nono....rain...tis but a memory for me.
behave zooz,or no crossy breakfast for you"
Phantom: western.
Teehee
It is there Mimi.
I wouldn't mind the rain were it a bit warmer but there are a few snow flakes mixed in :(
Hahahaha...just for a second..i got you going then :-)
Snow this late in May? Is that at all normal, Nono?
years ago i actaully had a grand idea i shared with dr_g.it was for a secondary weekly grid that could be played when you have finished the daily one early.i envisioned a 3000-4000 word 10x10 grid
Makes me tired just thinking about it, crossy!
I would love to have a go at it, Crossy.
not normal at all, we have had a very cool spring so far with a sprinkling of warm to hot days
I would dig in an attempt it, though, crossy.
Sounds like here too, Nono..even now it is tepid with showers...no sun to be se4.
Wish we could say that, Nono....we already have highs in the 100's...hate this time of year in Phoenix.
it would display much like a scrabble board in size on our screens:)
lol, mimi,we had frost last night and -1c or 31 american
I would love to do a swap, Mimi....just for a week or two though.
i think two days would kill us,zooz
lol..yeah..probably.
after 3 days in the upper 70's, it's downright cold this am. I am tempted to turn the heat on for a bit
our heat is kicking on and off sporatically this morning
it is 2c now
I already have turned my heating back on, Nono :-(
So envious, you guys....I just have to move. Would do that in a second, zooz, if I could. It's a whole different lifestyle here in the summer....you must always carry water. I also carry a freezer pack with a washcloth wrapped around it so when I must dab the sweat, I have a nice cold cloth.
i know mine would Crossy if it were turned on at all
mine is still set to come on at 65f .i have not shut it off yet from the winter
Go on flick the switch, Nono.
I really need to live in a very cold climate because at this point in my life I look so much better with more clothes on!
hehe, crossy is also very dashing swaddled in spring/fall clothing.sweaters are my friend
Now now, Mimi...come on...keep your chin up!
Maybe we could just switch locations Mimi, I so can't stand the cold
Get in line, Nono...i am first :-)
Would love to switch with both of you! But, alas, my cats would be very upset without me...they are feral to everyone else.
lol zooz maybe we could share?
You're welcome here any time....I have a spare room.
what if we blend the two and get something around 75f?
Crossy that would be heavenly!
75f for most of the year..one week of snow...two weeks of fall...sounds good to me, Crossy.
We do have beautiful mountains and lots of sightseeing to do....only a 5-hour drive from Las Vegas, too, and 7 hours to Los Angeles by car....40 minutes by air to L.A.
I moved here from L.A. and miss California every day of my life....and I've been here 30 years!
Is it work thats stopping you from moving, Mimi?
Winters are perfect here, though, so most of the year it is beautiful and mild. We just have two seasons: heaven and hell. We've been in heaven...now we're going to hell........
No, zooz, it is money. I'm hoping my lawsuit will settle in my favor at the end of this year or beginning of next and then I plan to move up into the mountains where I'll have the change of seasons and not this oppressive summer heat.
I wish you well in that then, Mimi..hope it all works out for you :-)
I stayed here mostly because my children are here, but as they've gotten older I'm liking them less and less, so think now I'd be good to go!
the mrs and i share your vision of a small place in the mountains
a place where you go into town once a month to spend half the morning at the library downloading books and hitting used book stores and grab a month of booze and food then it is back up to the ranch style log home for a month
Amen to that, crossy. I've had it with this apt. living and all the noisy neighbors and city sounds. Even though I'm not really in the "city," per se, I am still surrounded by people and their chaos and just want peace and quiet and to live with nature again and have my on gardens to tend.
I have visions of Mr Crossy & Mrs Crossy half way up a snowy mountain in a tent....and Mrs Crossy saying * this is not what i meant*
hehe
Yes, crossy, that is my vision exactly. It is possible here...up on the rim or closer to the Grand Canyon there is that kind of lifestyle available....I'm already looking.
i have winter camping equipment so she keeps a sharp eye on me
I bet she does..lol

no, i', here zoo
hi jenny
Yay..hello, Jenny :-)
Isn't is strange how our lifestyles change with age? I used to be the one that would sleep until noon and hated mornings. Now I'm up by 5 every day...mostly because the cats will devil me until I feed them, but I just naturally wake up early now. Was up at 4 today.
hello Jivingjenny
((Jenny))
it is wet, cold and downright miserable here!
Mimi, but you get to go to bed early
it's pretty miserable here in the Northeast. Tomorrow the high is only going to be 50!
How are you feeling , Jenny..any better?
we are going to be 66 today. :-( but at least the sun is shining
Yes, bichon, much earlier than before for sure. I used to never get to bed before midnight or even later and now I'm ready to crash by 10...or earlier.

Zooz...is tea still the predominant warm beverage there or has coffee taken hold?
Thanks for the NA8/40, Nono..that was my last 8.
Tea is still top dog, Mimi :-)
yw zooz
Zooz, speaking of tea. If I want tea, just black, how do I order it. I tried that in NZ and nobody would believe I wanted it without milk
well,if you wish to see "our " log home in the hills,i just posted a pic of it on my wall you will love
I've been a tea person all my life. I drink it the English way....use honey and cream...well, actually a cream substitute. Love Creme Brulee flavored Coffee Mate.
here if you order tea, they bring you hot water in a cup, tea bag on the side and cream on the side
let me know what you think of it ,mimi
Simple..i would like a teak no milk please...although depends where you go as a pot of tea is the norm..so milk is not added to the pot.
I must have everything on the side, as I'm very specific about how I "build" my cup!
took this pick in early march i think
Thanks nono for the na 8
I'm no inept at FB, crossy...how do I find you?
Here you get hot water in a cup as bichon describes but some places, even diners, will bring you hot water in a little pot
Crossy.why not put the pic on your Flickr site..i could see it then :-)
just in the bar at the top of the page type in crosshair smith and you will find me
where it says search for people, places and things
my flickr is inoperative
is it..oh ok.
it is aatm being used by a fella using the name crosshare
Would love to do a high tea sometime....never have and always wanted to. We do have them here in Phoenix, actually, at a couple of places.
i have told flickr about this but they refuse to fix it
What is "high tea"
but the pic is now up on my fb wall for those who wish to take a peek
I have had a high tea in the Plaza Hotel in NY when the Plaza was the Plaza, lots of fun
Got your FB page, crossy, but don't see a cabin...lots of dogs.....
anyone have the se 9?
i do not own dogs...

I'm here!
Hi, everyone
yeah theres life in babble lol
lol, some life,i have 4 other windows open, skype is open and 3 im message boxes in fb are open.the computer has given me the attention span of a goldfish:(
oh and i am playing words with friends also
and using calibre to convert e-book files;))
during all this,i get the odd word in babble;))
hi all
huh, I always thought wisen, as in wisen up, was a word.
wise up, hokie ;-)
speaking of books,i have a large collection of Clive Cussler Cussler novels in epub or pdf if anyone would like copies.just think of Mr Cusslers books as danielle Steel without the boobs and more brio and you are close lol
wizened as in old is a word though
howdy,jmc
apparently that is part of the Appalachian English I grew up speaking.
ah i understand. . . there are a few words from my childhood too
the phrase that always sent my hubby into fits was "might could"
LOL, I've heard that one a time or two.
makes sense to me but he thought it was the funniest thing he ever heard. . .
set a spell was another one. . .
where did you grow up?
basically east texas but family from georgia all the way acrosst ;-)
I discovered in college and later at work that there are too many Appalachian-isms to count that amuse people and/or they don't understand.
their loss. . .
might could is a very useful and precise phrase
I use "I'll be there directly" a lot, and nobody knows what that means.
is that like "ustacould"?
Personally, I like fixin
how could they not understand that hokie!
no ustacould is a past tense
as in "i do not play the piano anymore but i ustacould" hehe
Funny, I was just going to say we never did get into the fixin to. But, I hear that a lot here in Charlotte.
might means possible; could means capable; might could means maybe capable. . .
I will say I don't use might could, but ustacould is very prominent in my vocab. ;-)
haha i am just the reverse. . .
we have something similar with our beloved newfies.for example "stay where you're at till i come where you're to"
i also use pisonous. . .
that does seem a little confusing, crossy.
Pisonous????
pie-son-ous. . . toxic
We say greasy with a z, which apparently is not the way the rest of the country does.
emphasis on the first syllable
i flip back and forth on greasy. . .
I knew exactly what you were saying.
Got awl in your car Je?
haha i kn** you did
i was in a play once where I was suppose to say oyel according to the yankee director. . .
we don't say awl, it's more like ul or ol.
but the play was set just outside of Houston and I was a native so I refused to mispronounce ul as oyel
au** and ant both rhyme with ain't.
haha we spelled it the same hokie
yes they do! i was so surprised the first time i heard someone pronounce them differently. . .
air and our sound the same, as do pin and pen. that's why a lot of people say ink pen, to differentiate.
sorry au** and ant are homophones but not ain't to me
This is amusing...by and by
i have a friend i would make say merry, mary and marry because she could make them sound different and i was amazed!
(by the by) ;-)
stats for the lower T in the first column please
Can't find that one either. BTW, can't rhymes with ain't, too.
ti 6/21
of definitely can't rhymes with ain't

haha the clue for ti6 is ru!
hmm, I have a ti6, but not the right one apparently.
*giggling and hanging head in shame*
nbt
found it
told you! haha
really not sure why that's a word
I don't have any of the last col N.
a bed post top hokie. . .ne5/18
ah, thanks
seems to mean the ru** of a litter
okay i have some work to do. . . see you later. . . nice to meet you bog

my garden is a jungle and I can't go weed
and was totally jaded by the toursty crapola they try to sell in the high toursit areas
oh,maybe i am wrong.might be isreal.my mistake
I dont think she was bored either, she just said she wanted to be back in Mass....I think she is leery of the situation in Israel but I might be wrong about her feelings.
did she say when she was coming back?
mm,well she was definatly pining for home
No, she didnt.
Yes, she was pining for home.
however much i am wrong about the rest of it

Hello all.
:-(. Nobody coming out to play.
hello soods
Phew. I thought I was wearing my invisible cloak! Hi T O :-)
it is so coooooooool here all of a sudden, temp is 30degrees less than thursdau
Hi, soodle, dear!
It's bollmin' chilly here too.
Helli Mimi :-)
Envious, TO....to hot here....almost 100 degrees...hate it.
Ern... 'Bloomin'"
it is a holiday weekend, too. mi mi, i'll take it. really
Soodle, I want so much to get to Ireland...my heritage is Irish and I have red hair, blue eyes and porcelain skin...I want to see my people!
My first grandson was born on St. Patrick's Day....clever little boy.
the a/c was on last night. now i am thinking of turning on the heat
We need a/c nearly 24/7 now, TO....depressing and stifling.
mimi: i did not think that was unusal for phoenix.
Oh, for heavens sake...... 100 degrees???? Irish people would either A), think they had died and gone to Heaven or B) think that the end of the world was nigh!
Mother Nature is really mad at us....for good reason.
Think those thoughts all the time, Soodle! Only two seasons in Phoenix....heaven and hell. We've been in heaven...now going to hell!
No, TO, not unusual...just always uncomfortable.
break time
Hi All ... I think it's going to be a stinking hot summer in California's central valley. Was 96 degrees the other day. I shudder to think what August is going to be like.
Which central California, origami? Miss CA every day of my life...moved here from L.A. 30 years ago....still miss CA.
Lol Mimi. Ever since I joined Babble, I've been campaigning for an Irish Babble meet. You guys come here, and I guarantee a trip never to be forgotten!
I know crossy is coming and I so wish I could join in...no money right now. Waiting for lawsuit to resolve in my favor end of this year or beginning of next and then....look out, dear....I'll be on your doorstep!
A couple of years ago I was doing business on St. Patrick's Day next to an Irish pub and someone wanted to pinch me because I wasn't wearing green. I said "Hey, LOOK at me...it doesn't get any more Irish than this!" No pinch...
Woo-hoo!!!!you will be as welcome as the flowers in Spring, Mimi. As will all Babblers!
en7?
I will be in Babble a long time and will let you know when I have the money, Soodle....you do know why God created whiskey? So the Irish wouldn't take over the world!
to charm or captivate, hurshy
In my case, vodka...same idea, different substance.
ah ty
did you get the ou's?
((hurshy)) Hello.
B
It is Memorial Day weekend here, so I just want to say I so much care for everyone here at Babble and am grateful to have found all of you!
Hi Mimi ... I live in Sacramento. I'm originally from the Bay Area and I miss the weather there for sure!!
ah
ok
kate did not get the one i clued
where you have reps and one gets more customers than the other.
Love the San Francisco area...Carmel is my favorite place. Told my kids to scatter half my ashes over the highest peak in Colorado and the other half along the 17-mile drive in Carmel...That way, if you want to visit Mom, you get a nice vacation!
Mmmmm, Carmel. I lived for quite a while in Santa Cruz County -- up in the redwoods and then down on the coast.
Oh, I soooo miss that area....planning to relocate there in the future. Beautiful topography and the people share my political views.
Here in Phoenix it is a desert both geographically and politically...don't even ask.
I like the deserts in So Cal in the spring. Visit every year. Political deserts are another matter :-)
Very hard to have my politics and live here...we have a governor who shouldn't even be dog catcher...really.
Janet Napolitano left to become head of Homeland Security for Obama....can't blame her...would've gotten out of Dodge, too.......
Going to have a late lunch. BBL. Hugs all around.

okay, DR thanks -- how's the actor doing?
he is ok. .. between his cough, his infected toe and his bee sting... We are leaving in 45 minutes for a voice lesson and then a rehearsal
how are you doing?
oh gee -- no rest for the wicked?
right !
I am okay, DR. Today I went down to see my brothers, and then did some shopping. It's raining. It's cold. I want it to be springlike again! Otherwise, not bad.
and you? looking forward to the long weekend?
yes, I am. rest, rehearsals and BBQ
good for you!

Morning Lyn :)
hi lyn
Hello lynxxx! How are you doing today? Welcome to puzzle
This version of enable is old Liz...never been accepted
hi lyn
It was just on the off chance - but I've found that e now!
96 to go - these grids go from the sublime to the ridiculous. 57 one day and 300 + the next!!!!
you got that right. but it is a nasty night here, good night to stay in. cold and rainy and windy
Very windy here today too - severe weather warning!
Nothing like a tornado, though!
back. Hi everyone again! :-) That was a wonderful BLT!
oh i do hope not. do you get tornados in oz?
Hi Nef :)
hi Liz. How are you today?
No idea TO - not here - well, not since I've lived here!
hi Nef
our temps dropped 24 degrees in a day. this is the front that caused the tornados, though weakened.
It's threatening to rain here; I'm debating if I should run out and mow quick or not (we were gone for the past 3 days; back yard is now a jungle
one mini one down here this year actually but generally no TOwl - We just get the normal tropical cyclones up in the north
Thanks Lyn - good to know that - but certainly know about cyclones! Get the edge of them here.
Hi Nef! How are you doing? Welcome back to the chat log.
our very small tornados are actually called willy-willys - cute huh?
I LOVE BLT's!
Oh right! I've heard of them. As you say, cute!!!!
willy willy means something else entirely here :D
Glad to see you, Ru :)
hi Liz
not touching that one either Ru
Hi lynn and nef
you don't touch much do you lynn
BBL dog to walk, supermarket to do
owl, just listened to three sisters sing acapella in a rotunda - a spiritual song, not usually my cup of tea, but they're harmonies were amazing. check it out: http://tinyurl.com/pk58psh
LOL! I agree with lynxxx; not going there
Enjoy the walk :)
Min, the BLT was wonderful!
spinning willies - love the visual
thanks, welk. did you check out the link to bobby mc ferrin?
But I think I need to get out and mow at least a small patch of the grass out back so the dog doesn't get lost in it. BBL again!
i will right now
later, nef.good luck.

Hi smores :)

Hi Scrabbs :)

They are prescribed ones, Lilian but not mine.
ty liz
Ha Ha Ru - like that!
I got the boob right at least
time to go. happy babbling to those who are
I take melatonin nightly with much success.
Melatonin works, sometimes too well
Hey all. (((Zoom)))
Me too, Bea. I get in bed, put melatonin under my tongue, and I am asleep in 15 min.
good night TO and take care
Hi Stid!
Hi stid :)
wb stid :)
Hello, ((Stid))
Hey scrabs! How's the other coast today?
should you be taking them then zoom? and have you taken them before?
I took Melatonin once on a long plane trip to South Africa. I slept and I slept an I slept on and off for two days
Cold here today! Was 80+ much of the last 2 wks.
Yeah they are my mothers ones..she gave me a few..they work for me..but takes awhile to work.
We weren't too warm here in CT
Cold here too, and very rainy, unseasonal stuff suited more for October or November.
i've never heard of melatonin. i don't know if we can get that here
nice here today
warm.. 84.. light breeze
back again. It started sprinkling so I quit. At least I got the deepest grass "shortened" for about 20 feet out from the patio.
Don't think you can get it over the counter in the UK, Lilli. When I first flew to Aus, someone got me some jet ease tabs from New Zealand, with melatonin.
50 degrees and a ton of rain. and melatonin never works for me. maybe i should take two?
I have 3 mg tablets.
Do you take 5 or 10 mgs, Dorens?
I bought it OTC
The trouble was, it took so long to wear off.
i don't know. should go and check.
it works better if you wash it down with some bordeaux doren :D
i think kalms is as strong as you can get over the counter, and they don't do much
hello doren
Maybe that's why it works so well for me, ru.
Back in a little, switching machines.
haha, RuRu that would do the trick.
5 mg. hi owl
Probably even better with a single malt
and yes ruru i agree. or an 82 burgundy
so is there an expert here on smoke detectors?
I know how to set them off
Mine kept chirping so I took out the battery and it is still chirping. does that make any sense?
I see no one has identified themselves as a smoke detector expert.
no dorens, mine go off at the slightest thing
You know that dinner is ready when the smoke detector goes off
Try a new battery
I'm not mechanical at all
did you put the battery in correctly doren
that's how my family knows I'm done cooking; the smoke detector goes off
it might need a new battery dorens
that's probably the problem
Mine bleeps steadily when it needs a new battery
no i haven't even put in a new battery. it is battery-less
it still needs batteries doren
Put in a new battery. It chirps when the battery is low and when there is not one in place.
the other thing is that maybe it's time to buy a new detector? I was recently told that they expire after a number of years....
*how many counselors does it take to change a smoke alarm battery? *
(I guess that new smoke detectors are much more sensitive than the old ones
the fire brigade put mine in and apparently they last about 15 years but i think shop bought ones are less
oh good lord. the problem is that i just put this battery in a few weeks ago, so i thought my batteries might be bad. now it might be the detector itself. and even with my stepstool i can barely reach it, so i am straining my back when i play around with it. now maybe it is the detector?
it's possible
but i do know they bleep when a new battery is needed, or as my husband says or does, when in doubt, bash it with a hammer, like he does everything!1 :)
Bet you're sorry you mentioned it now!!! LOL!
check to see if the battery is in right doren
i think i will bash it with the hammer, along with my cuisinart, which i dropped and broke
Last me5/12?
ruru, she said it isn't in now and it's still beeping
Also, check for a reset button
the battery was in right, i just took it out. when i was checking my melatonin. i am a wreck.
it also depends on the type of battery aswell dorens, as some cheap ones don't last very long
get off the stool before you stretch too far and fall!
try a new battery doren
i just want the damned chirping to stop. will get a chair next, i promise, kj
and don't put another stool or chair on top of the one you're using! (Find a tall person to help)
doren's can you not get someone to look at it for you?
ladders are better doren
*envisioning the fall*
*wonders how doren is with light bulbs*
had a tall person here last week and i am blaming this whole thing on him for not doing it when he was here! i like blaming things on him
LOL!
funny thing is that it is placed just next to a short flight of stairs, so if I were to fall, i'd certainly fall down six steps
i am a pro with lightbulbs. screwdrivers too
aye molly's right. mine have 2 buttons on them and if it goes off i press both and then sometimes one will chirp for a while but then go off
seriously, dorens... call someone else
my downstairs one is placed like yours dorens' near stairs and the upstairs one is too high even for an 7ft person to reach!!
can you not get a neighbour in dorens?
my middle son is 6/5" but he is up in the cambridge area. four hours away.. maybe i can ask him to come here just for the smoke alarm???
It doesn't have to go on the ceiling, it can go on a wall
Back. :-) Tom brought my laptop in -- migraine has me mighty unhappy.
ok. i am dragging a chair over there to see what i can do about this chirping. i'll never get to sleep tonight, melatonins or not
Maybe you can call the fire department? They may come help you.
i promise to be careful
Ugh, Stid, I had a migraine a few days ago.
famous last words.... wanna know how often I've heard them?
I haven't had a doozy like this for a while -- the unsettled weather is what I am going to blame this one on. And of course I am out of the prescription stuff that I have to take within a short time of it starting. *sigh* oh well.
ah , but i'm not that old yet kj.
that's where the fire brigade put them bichon and i have a vibrating pad under my mattress which is joined to a unit on the wall which flashes which isn't good for me and then that goes to the smoke detector up on the landing ceiling
*arranges pillows artistically on floor around doren's chair*
hearing impaired, lilliann?
li
hello Mother! :-)
first un6?
*grumbles.. 36 freakin w's*
yes stid
*grumbles.. 36 freakin w's*
Hi mama. just trying to work on li words but then hit the send and so the little li whatever that means.
I am thinking that when we build our home we should have alarms installed that at least flash if they go off. Just in case. Cheaper to do it right the first time, I think.
a little unsure of something kje Un 6
flash alarms will def.wake you up . im a deep sleeper and it wakes me up
i'm better having the vibration than flash lights as they make me dizzy
ty ruru for the un word.
vibrating alarms are better. less annoying.
ty
i hope you're migraine goes soon stid
I have been told there should be a list of starting letters under my board but all I have is an ad asking me to upgrade to pro...how do I see the list of starting letters?
hi gmere :)
flashing lights set off migraines for me, but I really notice them -- and there is no mistaking the flash for an earthquake, the way a vibration might.
Hi lilliann!! already have 37 words so I'm just flyin'.
whataman, if you have played a few times, the "tile stats" disappear.
tm?
i'm back and now i will tell you that i was up on a swiveling kitchen stool, not a chair. and i replaced it with a similar battery from the same pack.. if this doesn't work i'm screwed. (and our fire department is volunteer so I can't think they'd want to be bothered by me for this)
hi cos
But there is a list that Lickety puts together that would help you. There is a link to that toward the bottom of the page.
tm + s's
go Mother go!!! *shakes pompoms*
good for you gmere :)
ty
*stern mama look at doren* *exasperated sigh* *shakes mama head sadly*
go g'mere
Hi whataman :-) I went "pro" early on... the best few dollars I ever spent, but I forget how to do it now !! :-)
but those artfully placed pillows would have helped!!
Thank you fan club.
doren.. put a kitty up on the smoke detector and then call the fire department :D
rumbling belly laugh!!
rofl ruru
how's our Murphy today, Mother?
well lets hope it works doren's before 1, you break your ruddy neck on a swivel chair and 2, the noise sends you up the wall :)
lol ruru
Hello dianedecoder :) Ok, so it's a pro only option...I'll think about it
(what lilliann said)
Murphy is outside chewing on a stick and wishing for warm weather.
whataman. if you deserve your name, you should fork over the 15$$ this game is worth far more!
if I deserve my name?????
whataman; here's the link you are looking for:http://r46.me/BabbleClues.html
Best $15 I ever paid - I also paid quite early on.
I am not chewing on a stick, and I am not outside, but otherwise I am JUST like Murphy!
When you first start, most things are visible, but then some of the perks disappear.
old song by salt & peppa... what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man1
well, it is more challenging this way....
i paid as soon as the letters disappeared but it cost me about£7
I think you get either 2 weeks or a month with things visible before they disappear.
yeah..it's more impossible this way too. :D
i think it's 2 weeks liz
True!
Be even worse without the chat clues :)
mine says your free 14 day trial period has expired....
definitely liz :)
yep.. that's how dr god hooks us all
I joined the first week I played. Best $11.00 I ever spent! It's a 1 time fee (of course; it's gone up since I started playing.
but I could quit this game any time ;D
Can I have a clue for the last un 6/21 please?
i'm surprised you don't have to pay for chat. we are at least worth $15, aren't we?
we are .. doren.. but batteries aren't included :D
i did too nef.. think it was just ten then and SOOO worth it. a bad movie and a bottle of water cost the same
ok...so it's pay and play with the helps or play without them...thanks for your responses
sorry marjetta, i don't have it yet
un6 - not stitched
Well, I passed halfway and can barely keep my eyes open, so off to bed I go. See everyone tomorrow.

whataman; I gave you the link aearlier
'evening, babblers
mine is something you can't view marjetta, but not llisted so don't know
but you can ask for clues on the chat whenever you want whatman or how many words in the grid etc
sweet dreams, scrabbs - we're like two ships lately
ty ru
sweet dreams scrabs
I could...but that seems like cheating to me
night scrabbler
Bye scrabbs - have a good evening :)
bye scrabs.enjoy your time with your family and tc
two ships with the flapping bits?
I have not used needle and thread for last un6
WTG Ru!
ty ty ty ruru
speak for your own flapping bits
ty stid, i thought i tried that
Told you it was a good clue!
what happens when the bits stop flapping?
gravity takes over
LOL
they bury you, Dorens
oh no!!!! chirping... NOW what? i am going into the bedroom and closing the door and playing loud music
:)
ah, have just passed 200. taking a break for now, back later maybe.
doren, you can't take the unit off the ceiling?
whataman, sometimes you'll be happy to get or ask for clues on here as you'll be pulling your hair out.it's not cheating, it's helping.if you don't want the help you can always turn the chat off :)
Have a good evening stid :)
i'm at 201 stid... think this might be a long night... see you later
can you disconnect it doren ?
you think i'm getting back up there on the swiveling stool?
bye stid tc hin
dorens, it's only just after 9:30 your time - your firemen are volunteers - i'd bet there's someone in the fire hall cleaning up, maintaining rigs, hanging out - give 'em a call
skip that.. don't you have a ladder?
I am down to my last 5, and they are all we's
NO YOU@RE NOT
NO YOU@RE NOT
bye all (((hugs))) *scatters choclits on way out* *Poof*
If it's still chirping it must be hard wired. Otherwise it would have no power source.
i thought taking the battery out would disconnect it.
they'd rather you had a working detector than not
Ok tabs are kicking in, happy babbling all..hope to see you all later..bye.
oops, sorry
i'd try a new battery
she's tried that ru
Sleep well zooz :)
night zoom.sweet dreams hin :)
i really think there's no one there. (i did try a new battery) *my new batteries must not be new enough*
night zoo
7-11 store?
HAve TO come over and change the batteries on the swivel chair :D
Phew! 30
have you got any head phones dorens?
oh heck, i'm in for the night. going into the bedroom turning on music, shutting the door. will come back on the laptop and update y'all
if they're hard wired, why would they have batteries?
they have both welki
back up, in case of power failure maybe?
is there not a neighbour you can ask to have a look for you dorens?
Hard wired detectors have batteries for back-up. If it's not hard wired, move it somewhere in the house far away from where you sleep.
just hit it with something and tomorrow you can replace it
it's probably an old smoke alarm you do have to change them every ten years
leave it outside until your neighbor gets up and comes over to fix it
<---mr. Helpful
and don't throw it in the trash! They need to be disposed of properly
molly, nice to see you again. where have you been? i normally see you more this time of night.missing your conversation
Has someone upset you Molly?
It's a long story L.
and clues molly
WEll as I said before, you're missed.
oh ok.someone being nasty again?
IF they were, well ***** them!
Yes, on the Babble Facebook page.
Stupid of them!
*giggling*
oh, i've not been on babble, i'll have to have a look.
So unnecessary!!!
sorry just read a funny email
****fireworks**** First completion on a puzzle this large!!
Happy dance, happy dance
wtg marjetta
It's been removed L. That's how nasty it was.
Congrats Marjetta :)
Well, if it's been removed, it doesn't say much for the person, who posted it! But I'm really sorry that it obviously was upsetting.
WTG Marjetta :)
thank you all very much. :)
yay Marjetta!!! WTG!!!
back again...ya still putting nickels in the jar ruru :)
re8?
i'm getting rich smores
nm
Hey Molly :)
re + put spices on the chicken again
ty
wow...sorry
Molly
hmm...computer being weird again
some people don't like Molly's directness and misinterpret what she's saying I think
stupid wankers
In that case, they should ignore it if it uspets them
Well said, smores
smores
:D that was for lill
it is easy to ignore the chat if you choose to not want to read it.
yep
I'm not a facebook fan...didn't know
I'm not either. I don't do facebook
I use facebook but don't often look at the babble site
If the person who was so nasty is reading this, they must know that they're in the minority.
1st me6?
me + consonant + male name
grr..get your nickel ready ru...BRB
me + india is an A**** country
hard to clue kje
That is a great clue Liz
lemme think
Or at least people who don't think that either the chog or fb is a place to make such comments
me + not crazy mixed up
ty Marjetta
Wow! The facebook comment was removed. Imagine that...
ty
<waves at Molly>
i've been on molly and couldn't find anything but i've just read back in the chat and i agree with liz, it doesn't say much for the person saying it.i don't go on it very much anmymore. i went on it the other day but that was for craft purposes and then i was off within 5 minutes
i agree with you ru, but i like her directness, but i understand molly more now than i did and know that is her way and that is molly and if people don't like it, ignore it.there's no need to be nasty about other people because we don't agree or understand them which is why babble sometimes annoys me, as we are all different and people need to remember that
very true lillian
I'm on FaceBook, but a part of Babble page. What was said
I agree with that
i'll be on the hit list next...oh, i forgert, i have been because of my butt :)
there are a lot of people who don't care for me.. but i just chat and contribute when there are people here i like chatting with
Just joined the babble community on FB
Even with this chat, you don't really know people, other than what they let you know, so to form an opinion based on this is short-sighted.
me too ru, which is why when i'm on there aren't many people :)
se6/21?
by the way marjetta, yay!! wtg for your fireworks!1 i missed it :)
There's an advantage to living in Australia - usually there are people on that I like!

OK - well good luck to all who haven't finished. Thanks for the chat - good to see you again. BBL :)
I was not on then liliann but I agree. We are all allowed to have our differences
what are you trying to say about my butt ru...too big eh??
Have a good day Liz :)
well..bugs we got into a tiff over a joke and got over it later
a boring world if we weren't different :)
bye liz, tc hin
1st am7?
If everyone was more like me.. we'd all have a lot more fun :D
exactly ruru, except is wasn't ever intended to be a tiff. That is how things get skewed online when you can't hear the tone of voice when laughter is behind the words
My $0.02 - Some people could use some perspective .. It's just a chat box on word game website ..
am,vowel and where a building is made or where you go camping
yes.. it happens bugs.. people read into comments what they want
missed it again...but oh well
ty
fw
agree tor..mind over matter
like i do do my husband when his head gets too big ruru...i stretch my arms out and pushe them in and out and at the same time go eee eee..as in big head!! :)

bye kje... take care
hagn & hagdt ..
night kje
bye kje, tc
early for bed doc?
why are we talking about lilliann's butt??? (which is cute, but I really like the beard better)
hello again
lol...hey stid :)
hey smores ((hugs))
perspectives are subjective ... we are unique ... we each have our own truths ....common sense is a fallacy ... what sense do I have in common with mongolian monk? When we see things solely through our own perspective we are bound to have problems communicating.
*starts second piggy bank for stid*
i could really start to take offence. i've been told i have a big butt and now a beard.aye fair enough, i have a few hairs need pulling out of my chin, but who doesn't...lol :)
hello o-o! like the icon! *good attitude look*
*offers to lend lilliann tweezers* it's an old-age thing, lilliann, now that we are more than 25 (or so) it's a fact of life! *grin*
you remind me of someone o-o
agree o-o
hi stid
common sense is common sense if you ask me
{hugs} stid back :)
speak for yourself stid, i'm 21 again :)
yawn...
(((bugs hugs))) how are you this evening? We had some wicked weather here, touched off a migraine for me. *sigh* BUT I scored some really lovely and comfy sweaters that had been marked down to $5 each, so it made the drive in the rain worth it.
i need more than one pair of tweezers stid :)
of course, you are, dear... *lengthens lilliann's miniskirts*
are we boring you smores??
getting tired way too early...still have 116 words
*gets nickel ready(
down to 121 here, smores, but I don't think I can finish tonight.
I used to have migraines often too stid and they ease up as you age. The one good thing that can happen!
nice find stid...sorry you had to use them though
i never wore mini skirts in the first place:)
oh no lilli...not bored, just getting sleepy
ruru -- have you ever heard of merlot fixing tummy aches? I had a doozy of an ache last weekend, and a little bit of merlot (like two tablespoons) completely fixed it! First time I ever enjoyed a red wine, actually...
happy to be joining the red hat society soon (not this year, but soon...) I like getting older most of the time!
i'm the same as bugs. my migraines went when i had my hysterectomy when i was 35, so your's might go when you go into the menopause stid
I wore miniskirts when I was young -- but as a teacher, I wear ankle-length! found a nice black and white skirt today too, come to think of it.
i was just joking smores :)
maybe I need to go into manopause
I hope they do, lilliann -- it's only been 35 years since my first migraine. About time for them to dissipate, I would think!
teehee
i think you're already in it ru!! :)
lol
hm. manopause *considers what the benefits would be*
i was 12 when i first started getting them stid so i know exactly what you're going through
i get a couple a month
they're horrible
Hi everyone, I'm in the migraine club too. :-(
i went through alsorts of test at the hospital and then they told me i was just unfortunate to get them, but my mam and nan had them for years too
*makes comfy migraine sweatshirts with hoods that block out light/sound/smell/small children*
...some club...
There is a strong family history of trigeminal issues of all sides, I was pretty much doomed, I think.
not a nice club but atleast it's nice to share with others who go through and have suffered them
I inherited them from my mom
evening my babble friends:)
yes, people who understand that it's not "just a headache" that goes away with aspirin... *sigh*
me too stid and as it happened i think it was all to do with womans' problems as we all had to have a hysterectomy in our 30's
I recently found out that anemia can be a contributing factor.Got that taken care of (mostly) and I'm back to my usual pattern, I think
hi crossy
I'll pass on the hysterectomy lillian :D
hey cross!
howdy,lillian:))
stidmama:))
well, you could always have something else removed ru :)
hello Mr. Hair
I have very low blood iron, but my migraines seem to be related to visual and air pressure things. and yikes, lilliann!!! rofl
you can remove the hyst. :D
Hi crossy :)
howdy,smores:)
so the anaemic problem being cured hasn't helped k?
maybe you were a barometer in a past life stid?
lol..ouch lilli
could be, ruru -- but not sure if it was before or after I was a corvid (really love sparkly things!)
my beloved has always been prone to migraines and was badly anemic when we first started dating so i did what any guy would do and went out and got 20 bottles of jameson brand iron suppliment tablets and had her take one a day for a year or so.she never had anemia again but she still to this day gets wicked migraines
mine just seemed to be gene and woman related
I get them occasionally..but nothing like I used to
i don't think anaemia has anything to do with migraines
lol, still remember those horse pills.she was 115 pounds at the time.i used to tease her and asked if she wanted me to lift that pill to her mouth so she could take it hehe
probably depends on the person, lilliann -- physiology is pretty interesting...
brb
food apparently is one of the reasons, but i can eat cheese til the cows come home and everything else they say that can cause them
obv not since she still gets them:((
aye, you're right stid as apparently there are alot of reasons for them
my sister gets them when she eats chocolate or has too much milk products..caffeine too
in march she had the same migraine for 3 weeks! thing did not let up
lilliann, I didn't think so, but my hematologist said as soon as I got some iron back (had to have iv treatments) my migrains should be less frequent/severe. Sure enough, he was right. Now I'm back to my usual pattern (mostly hormonal triggers)
chocolae is a cause aswell as fish and dairy products and some meat
lol...funny though, if she feels one coming on she bakes her fav brownies and pigs out
aye, mine were hormonal the same as the rest of the females in my family and sadly my 13 year old now suffers with them
mmmm, does that help her smores? :)
I started having them at a very young age
maybe 5 or 6
I disclaim ownership of grain[e]
no...not at all...she just says if she's gonna suffer she's gonna have her chocolate
but i hope she doesn't have to go through all the crap the rest of us did and end up having a hysterectomy at a young age
one of my sons started getting them at 6 ruru. It was horrifying to know I was responsible
well why not. i can't blame her smores.sounds like a good p[lan
my beloved had a radical hysterectomy 6 years ago:(
really ru?
aww..sorry bugs
yep
ru, do you know why you might get them?
hmmm....think I missed something o-o...don't get it
not really
I started young too but I didn't know they were migraines until I was in my thirties. I'd just get the visual auras mostly, or severe nausea, but no headaches.
why were you responsible bugs?
my graine?
stress.. sleeping in the wrong position.. mixing red wine and white wine.. etc.. certain foods possibly
it's definitely not nice crossy
duh...thanks gemini..guess I'm sleepier that I thought
she is still paying the price for it in stomach and intestine issues, lillian
If chocolate were a trigger for me I'd say shoot me already.
yw
that's the usual things they come up with ru.are you on tablets for them
he inherited them from me not his father lilliann
lol k
but that's not your fault bugs. i got them from my mam and she from hers but we can't blame people
:) K
that doesn't good crossy.are they looking into it?
my pain in my abdomen went away when i had mine and i had a full hysterectomy done crossy.
going to run.. bye everyone .. have a great evening.
bye ru tc :)
Night ruru :)
I need to go also....95 left
take care all :)
night smores, tc hin :)
tm6?
t and nearly all of the word for be untidy
thx lillian
yw
I just looked up the def for that tm word - never knew there was a word for that! Wikipedia has some good examples, several of which don't involve profanity.
did you know k that you can click on the ? next to the word and get a definition. not always but mostly
hi all!
Could I get a clue for the 2nd st6/18, please?
that's the thing with babble k, we find out new words every day and some very odd that we actually remember them :)

Hey there, lilliann!!!
