(((tor))) was thinking about you earlier today. A young man across the way in this apartment complex was playing his guitar and singing, and it made me think of you for some reason
and so is ralph
glad you are better, GR -- sorry about the dental issues, Dee

That's nice that you thought of me (((stid))) but if you heard my singing, a garbage truck with a bad transmission might be a more accurate reminder ..
so cool -- George Takei's Star Trek name is in the grid and it counts!
lol, tor
*grin* too funny, tor -- I am sure you sell yourself short though I will reserve judgment until I can hear for myself.
I might get good enough some day to sing in front of people .. We'll see ..
I gave up trying to be good enough, tor. I sang one of the soprano parts and one of the alto parts for the virtual choir this year (my first singing "gig" in over a decade) and for the alto part I had massive allergies, was exhausted from multiple takes of the soprano part and had only practiced four times. I say, life is short, go for it! I even hit a few right notes on the alto part!

hey all.
Congrats, Dee!!!!!!
some days, stid, have to go to Duncan 25th
When asked at the age of 93, why he still practiced so fervently, Pablo Casals said, "Because I think I am making some progress."
I am tired, tonight, but it's a good tired. We have a sofa that fits us again; and tonight a bed with a new mattress that should be really nice. I hope.
ah, that man -- he was an amazing musician!
sounds wonderful stid, sweet sleep
when I told the music/choir students at one school "practice makes better" they told me I had it wrong: I replied that the best musicians keep practicing all their lives even when they are the best in the business. They liked that idea.

I would have to be back in our area before then, I have a funeral at the end of the month.
Stid, have you read a book "a soprano on her head"? I think you'd like it.
...my god....0:2:22 am and now into the second hour of trying to unclog a toilet my son plugged up:((

ok. taking break
hello friends. insomnia strikes again!
Hey there, Trif.
important life lesson learned today, please allow me to share: no matter HOW hot and muggy it is outside, DO NOT enjoy a frozen lemonade on your way to your doctors appt. When the trainee nurse routinely checks your temperature, it WILL read 85 degrees, and you WILL scare her to death.
awww, trif. so sorry that you have insomnia again. mind you, it's now 5:45pm here, and i have been awake since 3:00am.
thanks grannyrose, and sorry to hear you are haunting the night hours as well
rofl...poor nurse...so they still use under the tongue thermometers? over here weuse thermosc$s, which either read a temperarure from the ear ca% or from the forehead.
under the tongue. I think she couldnt decide if I was a zombie, a vampire, or suffering from some hideous ailment she hadn't studied yet
trif, i awake when the pain-killers wear off..and i find it very hard to get back to sleep, even when i take the meds immediately.
ugh, so sorry granny, that is the worst case scenario for sure
*giggle* like hypothermia on such a hot day..yeah, she would be very puzzled.
phantom: descant
yup, and decant,
trif...a visit to doctor's? nothing wrong, i hope? just a routine check-up?
not a routine check up, no, but they also didn't find anything wrong, which bugs me no end, as I am quite sure there IS something that needs to get addressed....
my beau has a very, very good herbalist he works with, and I think I will take it up with him
oh...wanna share? if not here, use my email address in my profile.
chog is eternal, so I think I will keep my own counsel, if you don't mind? its nothing serious, anyway
but I really appreciate your concdern
concern
np's trif...hope it is all minor for you.
haha I just realized what a hypochondriac I sound like....
hello, lovely ladies! finally making my way here, after a late night emergency shopping trip - the cats were out of food, oh no!

oh, those cats were giving me the evil eye while standing by their bowls, it was impossible to ignore.
you made the right choice, rubd - they might have taken to eating YOU in your sleep!
trif, you are NOT a hypochondriac...far from it, hun
cooee rbud. * my name-sake*
well, they'd certainly have voiced disapproval all night beside the bed, I've no doubt of that, haha! :)
Dog is human's best friend... but to a cat, you're just Staff.
have you ever seen the Simon's Cat cartoons, rbud?
and evening all =)
yes, love Simon's Cat, so funny! (and I totally agree, moon!)
I knew I would have to marry mike, when he got home one day and changed shirt to his Staff shirt to feed my Queen High Bitch lol
g'day woof

hugs woof, lovely to see you
I can't help but feel this one is PERFECT for you right now, rbud....http://www.simonscat.com/Films\n/Cat-Man-Do/

I have no idea. maybe copy and paste just this?
http://www.simonscat.com/Films/Cat-Man\n-Do/
on mine, it's right next to the right hand shift key
I didn't even notice the slashes going the wrong way - im basically a Luddite
clue for the 8 and 9 please
I think chat inserts them when we're not looking! Seriously. I recall a convo about the backslash and N one night in here.
jenny, to9/10, political term for understanding
But I sorted the link out, thanks, Trif, that was maybe the first Simon's Cat I ever saw, it's been a while. I love how the cat points to his mouth, heeheehee! Mine just use their mental telepathy, close enough.
great clue granny!!!

Good day to all.
Hello Scrabbs- nice to see you
Hi lynxxx
How are you and all your bunnies...I haven't seen you for ages
The bunnies are adorable but not liking the heat and humidity of summer. And last night we had a thunderstorm and power outage so their nightlights were out.
sounds like an uncomfortable Summer. but I must ask - nightlights - for bunnies?!
I don't think THEY need the lights but I like them so the bunnies can hop all over their rooms in the dark and find their food, litter box, water, ...I am sure they can do it in the dark.
It has been a rainy spring and summer so far.

Well, TY. I missed that one.

he didn't sleep well last night, psyched himself out so he cried like he was scared all night (which he had no reason to be), so I get that and will give him the benefit of the doubt. BUT this happens all the time. he doesn't want to get in the shower (today he did) but then he throws a huge fit when he tell him its time to get out. That's what tipped this all off this morning. So he's sitting in his room.
his 2 year old sister is already on her second orange and second cartoon and is a super happy girl today. so 1 out of 2 isn't too bad.
Is he in time out?
At least he clean. Naked, but clean.
I guess you could say he is. I told him he could stay in his room until his dad gets home from work (either for lunch or when he gets off).
With any luck, he'll fall asleep. Otherwise, he's probably in there coloring satanic symbols on the walls.

I am very annoyed this evening! My sister in law is planning a surprise 50th birthday party for my brother, and she has said she is not going to invite my parents. She says they won't enjoy the evening... Loud music etc. i'm livid!

Sprite, lots of reasons for back and leg pain that are not serious. My first thought is sciatic nerve problems.
Hello all... at in crossy and sprite... and Molly. and Soodle if still here....
Soodle is kind of ADD. It's hard to keep her attention in any one place for too long.
Molly, that is what the doctors hope to find now, indeed. If it is a hernia, they will call in the pain team and kill the nerve.
hiya m9
Thought i'd come see if Ru was on to ask him to tell folks in his area that the S.F. spca is waiving adoption fees for cats and kittens through 14 July.
Soodle rocks :)
Just read it on my sister's fb.
how nice, m9. That might inspire more people to adopt
Yes. She is a cat foster mama for the shelter.
babble dictionary word: ecocarn - environment-friendly meat
Back pain that radiates down the leg is often related to the sciatic nerve. Lots of women have this when they are pregnant, due to the "extra load" they are carrying.
cat and camels are my friend when pregnant, because if I don't do them as going to bed, I get sciatica then. Doesn't bother me any other times.
they thought of that, Molly, but were in doubt because the pain is mostly in his leg and he has pain attacks, colicky-like, even when in rest.
Did they do a CT sc4?
howdy m9:)) spire,i have sciatica and like molly says, when it first came on i was in total agony and it gives the same symptoms described.sadly it eases a bit and you learn to live with a new pain
they did an X-ray and an echo, so far. CT scans and MRI have waiting lists :(

they have ruled out kidney stones, infections, aneurysms and several other possible causes so far.

sorry, had to look that up :) I don't think so, he never has any issues when going to sleep. But God knows... anything is possible at this point.
I'm sure he will be fine, Sprite. I know it's hard not to worry, when you have a loved one in pain. Think positive thoughts.
A lot of drugs in this grid.
I'm glad.. RLS stinks!
will do, Molly, thank you!
I would pay attention to any relation to eating. It's surprising how many pains can be associated with that and not look like it. I get quite the pain in my right shoulder if I overeat..
synchronicity... my love just texted me, they moved him to another room, morphine is working and he is in far less pain now :) He will be able to sleep tonight.
How odd m9
that is odd, m9!
Actually Chrissie, I guess that's pretty common!
Morphine is a wonderful thing. : )
I've never heard of digestion problems causing shoulder pain either.
I used to get a stinging pain in my right eye when I drank coffee. Nowadays I remove the spoon, though. That seems to help.
A lot of nerve meridians run through your center, so ailments there can present elsewhere.
HA HA HA!!!!
but all kidding aside, i think there is still a lot to be le5ed about the relation between food and body reactions.
lol, glad your keeping your sense of humour :)
nothing will kill that. Nor with Rob, btw. In between the pain attacks we actually giggled quite a bit today, waiting in the hospital.
I guess left shoulder pain is associated with heart attacks and GERD (acid reflux) but I have right shoulder pain.
Right shoulder pain is sometimes associated with gall bladder issues, but most frequently with gas...
I do see a clear link between overeating and gas
Since I get it when overfull, I guess something is being pushed on that runs through the shoulder?
or perhaps when you are overfull you can't breathe properly, which might bring out issues that you usually don't feel?
Hmm.. could be. I do get asthmatic every once in a while, but I'm pretty aware of that. Most times, breathing is not an issue, probably because of the singing.
our bodies are many-splendoured things
Sorry to interject! Nope, Sprite! Soodle does NOT rock! If Soodle manages to tap her toe along to some easy listening middle of the road songs, well, thats a GOOD day!
*grins* For me, you rock, lady Soodle.
Yup. Puts me in mind of "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"
<---Never was sure what the whole "rocks" thing was about anyway.
quite, m9. Now if I could lose that eating disorder, I'd do better on that score
*Thinking* Lady Soodle Of _____
Lady Soodle of Babble
Oh we have to do better than that.
true. Lady Soodle of the Silly Songs?
Lady Soodle Of Tramp O'Leen : P
hi everyone
lol
hi Andree :)
Visions of skinny young things shaking their silky long hair to the sounds of Procul Harem. Reality:- aging matron hoping their perm doesn't come undone! Sigh!

Indeed they did. I was annoyed about my sister in law when I came into babble earlier. Now I'm mellow & ready for a guileless sleep!
Sorry Andree. Yes. This doozie has teeth!
not too bad, here. Some odd words though.

they are a great comfort as well as great company, keep your chin up sprite
Well done Sprite. And all my very best wishes to Mr Sprite.
Well done Sprite. And all my very best wishes to Mr Sprite.
Soodle, I would be annoyed about the party planning too. Your parents brought your brother into this life, they deserve to be at his birthday celebrations.
ou 8, pls. Didn't understand the earlier clue
My thoughts exactly Molls.
ou8...not in + what you do in school (le5)
ty Molly.
Sheesh! Now thats what I call taking sibling rivalry to the extreme! 'I le***** how to spell parallell'! ' ' Oh yeah? I ou8/45'ed ya!
I've never seen it used in a proper English spelling way, but hey...that's Enable for you.
not something i will put in a sentence anytime soon
It could be a vestige from the American deep south. Jim Bob was very competitive with his brother Buford. "I will outlearn him at school," Jim Bob swore.

a little put out for not seeing it on my own -- did have all the words within
babble blindness is a common malady here
Or just not being able to see a word you thought you should. : D

I am sorry to ask because I am sure someone clued this before. But I wasn't watching. I need a clue to9, please?

Ru has been bon motting again? It gets so messy when he does that.
yay kate!
And you might feel differently if you were the neighbor Lil. : P
hi molly :) hi again lindy :)
enlarge is one of my favorite words :D
no molly, as it wouldn't cost me anymore and plus ours automatically has a lock on anyway, unless i give my password away which i can't remember, but it wouldn't bother me someone using my internet.mines free anyway with my phone

i love both of the Bridget Jones Diary
*diaries
i'm not sure of the film your'e talking about kate, i'd need more info, but i'll probably know it
your likes appear to have a theme, lilliann....Hugh Grant... ;o)
is that the one with Danny Devito and Bett Middler kate?
i am wrong about the name of the move... just googled it. it will come to me, along with the actors' names... i know the guy is a brit that i like (trainspotting i think) and the girl is blonde
i actually do like Hugh Grant, but that's because he's proably in alot of our british romantic comedy films. i also like Jason Statham and i wouldn't knoch him back :D
don't know JS...
got it! a life less ordinary... ewan mcgregor and cameron diaz directed by nnone other than danny boyle :)
the only danny devito movie i liked was the war of the roses - another of my all time favourites!
he was in transpoter films.1-3, crank and loads of others
i'm not sure if i've seen that one kate but it does sound familiar and with the actors in it.i'd know after 5 minutes watching it
Jason Statham makes alot of films in the US
you'll have to google him pen, you probably have seen him in some film, i would think
i don't know the name liliann, but i don't go to the movies any more (we haven't even got a theatre in this town...)
he was in the Italian Job, the 2nd one not the British original
i did see that movie...don't recall him....looked up his pic....vaguely familiar....
mark wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Donald Sutherland were in it
i must sort of excuse myself, i've been on the go all day and am ravenous.. must forage before i fall over from starvation.. popping in and out until caloric intake reaches acceptable level
he was in the expendables 1 and 2 and loads of others. i like him as an actor and apparentlyhe directs too
am i just really tired, or is this grid a wee bit nasty?
food is good kate :)
so am i as i went clothes shopping with a 13 year old who doesn
Danny Devito was great in LA Confidential too
and that John Travolta movie.. can't remember the comedy.. very good stuff
cat jumped on to my keyboard. doesn't like shopping, as i don't but she managed to spend some of her dad's well earned money this time!!
is that the one where the famous "legs crossing" incident takes place?
i like Danny Devito too ru. i used to love him in Taxi
lol, throw mama from the train?
what's Danny's wife called that was in 'Cheers'
anyone remember the John Travolta title of the movie.. he plays a florida loan shark.. it's really funny
i know the film, but i can't remember the name ru
i have a pic in my brain ruru, it was good, but can't remember...
Danny DeVito's wife was Reah Pearlman

I love pulp fiction

are they not together anymore then luv as you said was?
I haven't seen trainspotting
lil, I believe they're divorced
too much swearing for me kate
oh ok, ty
i saw that one at a matinee, not sure if it was the "film during the day or not, but i didn't care for it at all - not sure what all the hhoopla was all about...
i'm doing the dance now ru :D
i didn't like trainspotting
ooooh, nicholas cage in leaving las vegas with elizabeth schue... anothe fav!!! i like a lot of "dark " movies
I never get tired of seeing pulp fiction again and again
so many great performances
i like John Travolta and i enjoy alot of his films
trainspotting wouldn't have worked without all the cursing - it was integral toi the film; not gratuitous
this was the movie that made him
my husband is the same as you ru
i know, and alot of the British films have alot of swearing in them and i don't think it is neccessary
noooooo - GREASE made john travolta.. or saturday night fever....
nope.. he was washed up after those.. Pulp Fiction made him a star
i love Grease, but not 2 as that was crap!!
oooh... six degrees of separation!
there was a grease 2?
there are a lot of movies that shouldn't have a 2 or 3
no, i think ru is right.was Saturday Night Fever before or after Grease?
yes Kate, but John and Olivia weren't in it
SNF was first
<---hates the BeeGees
i'm trying to think of the english actor that was in an american soap

i know i grew up with both
lol ruru :)bee gees served their purpose...don't know soaps, sorry lil
I remember wearing disco shirts though.. with WIDE collars

I believe if I tried to feed the wild bunnies around here, my dogs would go nutty
lol, they don't like to share?
well not quite that no lol
crumbles. I am completely fading out...
see you-all again soon. *poof*
We have a hound and a terrier, and theyve been taught to hunt, go to ground, etc. They *already* go nuts when there's one they can see
Daw! Noooo! Not you, stud!
poor stiddie! you are exhausted from rapid-fire cluing and fishing...
But we're also currently living in a double-wide that's up off the ground... and the bunnies live under it part of the year. So when they wake up in the morning to go forage and bump against the floor, the dogs are already set to hunt.
nothing with fur can move without setting off hounds and other hunting dogs... i undrstand :)
bye stiddie, see you "tomorrow"
They're amusingly Non-picky about it, honestly... birds, lizards, elephants... they kinda dont care if it's not human and moves lol
hi all
uh oh, the dogs can probably sense them even if they aren't bumping the floor... they must be going insane wtih "hunt fever"
Even the moths or spiders that dare invade the house are primo targets
{{stid}}
just sticking my head in to see who is here
evening Jm
jmc !!!hi there!
so you have the computer tonight?
Kinda. I was always that the easiest ways to train animals are to encourage what they already naturally do. And in this instance I Can call them off... they just really dont like it.
evening all
there is a big thunder storm here tonight
hi jes
evening jes
une will be back at the flip, not sure about stiddie, but probably...i think peach is still here, and maybe joso???
i spent the day with my sister helping her get ready for the first visit of her new granddaughter
yes, lappie loaner for a longish weekend woot! hi jess :)
there are several, really.. I figure either hurriedly finishing or afk waiting for the flip.
they were suppose to drive down from NYC tonight but considering the weather *jumps* i am glad they did not
wish we had a thunderstorm here, it's been all around us, but barely a drop here all weeek, and so close to toronto, where they were deluged and flooded out on monday...
storms like this make me happy i live next to a REALLY TALL radio tower that will take all of the lightening hits
it rained quite hard for about a half hour and now it is starting again. . .
After the 120 degree week here, last week, I was glad for even the tiny amount of rain we got yesterday
how old is the granddaughter? sounds like you have a primo location there jmc. i hope you don't lose power for the flip...
this one is directly overhead of me. . .
just shy of 2 months. . .
and already a charmer
overhead.. tower or storm?
i understand moon. . . i grew up in texas where it also gets hot. . . and humid!
storm. . . the tower is a half block away
so you need a good drenching moon?
*jumps*
Right. It only *really* gets humid here tho on days like this right after the rain. No gulf coast in AZ =)
sorry must break down and close windows brb
has anyone seen mimi cat? i hve been missing her all week... more lightening jmc? are you inside?
Oh we really do, yes. Our rainfall has been just abyssmal this year
ours too moon. all around us, there's been plenty of rain - not here. last year was basically a drought - even the robins left town because it was so dry!
haha yes i am inside. . .
well the desert really kinda lacks a ton of birds... but same for us. Drought conditions and *tons* and *tons* of dry
hi all clue for the last o 6 please
to 6 that is please - dysleic fingers today
Im not sure if you know what a choya is, but really... when a cactus dies cause it's so dry, that's a bad sign.
mercy! *smacks face with surprise at the thought of a cactus dying from lack of water*
when i lived in streetsville, i used to love to sit out on the back porch an dwatch the storms over the credit river... very large overhang and wonderful view... one cat sat clamly in my lap - the other upstairs under the cover of the bed for the duration...
sorry tanja i don't have it
the last os6 sounds like the naughty hus**** magazine.
to 6/21
part of the reason i built so many windows in my bedroom was to be able to watch storms. . .
oh oops.
yes 11 to go :)
okay, close to the flip, so no one goes to the PB for saying cactus....you know who you are ;)
to6 = to make messy. Like... she to6d her hair
go tanja go!
omg. I suck! lol
Im ready for the flip, apparently lol
i don't go because i haven't even entered one word of the grid (although i am doing it mentally)
ty
wooooot tanja!!! is that choya yours moon - in your yard?
yea. We have tons of things growing out here... but at least a cpl of the choya have gone dormant entirely from lack of moisture
sounds like a nice view jmc!
choya is absolutely nothing anyone would grow on purpose tho. Its awful evil stuff lol
well they will probably come back with the rain. . .
you wouldn't give them a bit of water????
theyre like... the heat seeking missles of cacti
yes. . .the street lights let me see all the rain and wind. . . teehee
oh, you didn't do this grid jmc??? why ever not?
8
because i just came here now . . . .
oh no. We'll actually be singing the needles off and uprooting them next week. Theyre just awful things. But really, they're still usually very hearty things
lol@moon wouldn't want to be the acquired target of one of those!
usually i start it anyway but today i decided not
go tanja go!
Its just also very notable when they succumb to dryness.
hhow very mature of you jmc. showing restraint and the ability to delay gratification ;)
now 6 - clue or the so 6 24 please
more like lazy. . . .
absolutely not. They barb once they hit your skin, like little tridents, so they take little hunks of skin out with, when you pull them. they'll stick to anything even remotely moist
