{rose}
heya puglet!
surgeon says i have torn the ligament in my knee from the outer aspect, across the knee, through to the medial aspect. splint stays for 3-6 months.
D=
I thought you just had knee surgery...
he is desperately trying not to have to operate. if he does, he will have to re-shape the prosthesis. :(
Oh no Rose--are you going to have to have more surgery
Were you being too active >=\
awww
woof, total knee replacement 12 months ago, fell at work, foot skidded on wet floor, tore the ligament.
i'm weeping he4....am so disappointed.
Are you going to have to take a leave from work Rose
and now it's retorn...? You need to be easier on you =(
i've only had the splint for 6 weeks, now he's talking 6 MONTHS. my god....
pugs, so long as they can offer me work which doesn't involve patient care....and at a desk....
That does suck. I empathize grreatly. But really... you know you need to do it. He wouldnt lie to you about it, if you didnt need it.
Its going to be hard... but knees are really important!
yeah, i know. i should be thanking my lucky stars and God that he a conservative surgeon. he was quite up front, and said he really doesn't want to operate again.
anyway, crying over....sorry to dump on you all, you are such lovely people.
That Is a good start, agreed. I have faith you can do this. Maybe we need to send you more books or something to keep you on you cr5
Rose, please remember that you have a lot of people praying for you and sending positive energy. Hugs
i am a bit worried about DH. now he has me to worry about, as well as his mum...
Im even willing to skip the hippie stuff, if it'll help... where can I send books...?
aww, thanx peach,and woof
=D
((((Rose)))) so sorry it's bad news. Can only second what peach said x
lol, hippy is good, so long as your talking about flowers and lovebeads...and not that dreaded part of anatomy which spreads as we get older.
of course!
thanx chrissie, it's a real bummer.
brb
Perspective is always a bit of a weird thing, imo... but at least this is just *possibly* life altering and not life threatening. I guess I'll just ask Dr God for bigger grids so you stay seated longer =)
like the way your mind works, woof.
I get quite a bit of guff for it, honestly, but it works for me and mine ^^
Rose I know you are upset with that news, Iam very sorry for you.We are all here for you to dump on whenever you need to and we all pray for you and You will get through this. xxxs---
I was pretty sure that was the other half of what the chat was for.
clues and crys ^^
thanx pugs
too true, woof. i try not to be negative....too much..if i ever am you all have my permission to tell me to pull my head in.
Oh youre not even close to that, so far as I can tell.
you're very kind, woof. th5 are some who wouldn't agree i'm sure.
No rose, this is the place you can off load anytime
did he put a limit on what you can and aant do Rose
(cant) ss
You are always so supportive to others
Agreed. You have plenty of karma accrued.
back to desk duties only, no patient contact...may walk short distances so long as the sp;lint is in place
:) like the idea off karma in credit
he hasnt gotten you into the full leg brace yet, tho, right?
The Karmic Credit Plan (tm) is an adorable thought, imo ^^
oh, yes he has, woof. from thigh to ankle
Hmm. Ok. Then yea, that's not a happy place. I *hated* that thing
wahhh, i even have to sleep in it..
late arrival, hi, all - jumping in for a big sympathetic (((((hug))))) for g'rose
Desk yoga was kinda cool to learn, tho
{{{rbud}}}
Actually... I think sleeping was the only time I *didnt* mind that thing lol
Off to work here, holding you close rose, bye all
Morning Rbud
Evening bud!
hmmm, could do my pelvic floor exercises and no-one will know, right?
have a good work day, chrissie!
bye Dee
thanx chrissie, hope you have a great day, hun
actually there were like 8 things I could rotate thru. I had a GREAT butt after that!
roflol
Hated that time, but the desk yoga was a good distraction from the brace =)
I fidget a lot tho. Surprising, Im sure xD
yeah, i would never have guessed
I put the B in subtle!
Which, when you sound it out like that, is really Not subtle and has some irony involved.
Anyone frustrated enough for clues?
I wager not, but figure I'd ask before I go back to reading ^^
Rose will this stop you from going on your planned outings
no way, pugs, am gonna go out as much as i can. i need these breaks
Hi everyone
Im glad for you on that then.----did you find out anything on Sprite's husband?
Hi Andee
not yet, hang on, will check emails
oh, hi andree
Hi, Andree.
I am in England heading for Scotland today, having a great trip so far, only using Internet when it's free and finding babble on an iPad a bit of a pain as the keyboard is so in the way
morning Peach
whereabouts in Scotland, Andree?
Hi there, puglet. How are you doing?
okay, in email from sprite..Rob has had first injection into 3rd lumbar disc? and it is helping. speciallist was checking him today, may have to do 4th lumbar disc/space. Rob has spoken to Tim...who has apologised and agreed to pull his weight.
other then melting in this humidity Iam doing great and you?
That's good to hear, Rose.
andree, am green with envy, hun. hope you have a wonderful break
Edinburgh for 2 days then onto the lakes district to chester
About the same here, puglet. Still getting daily rain storms. Yes, the humidity is horrible here too.
Yes it is--Shes been on my mind--sounds like shes more up lifted
I will rose, so far it's been a great trip , hope I feel the same after 6 weeks
Rose give my best wishes to sprite as I don't know when I will get back on line, have you heard from mrp
Edinburgh's great......but I don't think the east coast is getting the best of the weather right now, but a little cooler may be a respite for a couple of days. Just back from a trip to the lake district, it's certainly warm enough there !! Enjoy them both.
Thanks Liz so far the weather has been amazing , I have brought an umbrella , raincoat and warm jackets so far not needed
Must go now time to board the bus, bye to all
bye Andree enjoy!
xoxox andree
Rose, Thank you for sharing Sprites news. I got my first ripen tomatoe from the garden yesterday and it was sooo good-lol
oh, pugs, home-grown are so much better. what type did you end up planting?
I planted 2 kinds--big boys and I dont remember the other name but its stripped and is suppose to be lower in acid
Hi all
I already harvest my cabbage and just got all the potatoes out of the ground and put away for winter use. I only had 6 heads of cabbage but I gave 2 away and still had 10 bags to put in freezer
Hi Rocky
evening rocky
Hi, rocky.
oh, pugs, sounds terrific...
You know home grown tomato sandwitch is the best
I love tomatoes and cottagecheese
Try growing blackbarrys they are so good right of the vine
I cant stand store tomatoes--they just dont have a taste to them
And if you like spice hot pepers are awesome
Ive got tame rhasberries growing but are still too young for much fruit, but we got all kinds of wild blackberries
We get uors from farmers maket if none are ripe
Ours
I just planted 2 grapevines this spring and I would like to plant a couple blueberries. Ive never grown blueberries before
I don't know what kind of fruit you like but peach trees are good
And spice wise rosmary
I do like peaches. I have planted them and pair trees before and both didnt make it and havent tried again
We have them as our boarder line with the naibor
thats nice. Anything homegrown is so much safer and better
Ya my mother wants to try growing gordes
Hi everyone, very late tonight, spent a lovely evening with son and grandson playing their guitars and singing. Thanks Rose for the update on Rob.
Hi
hi rocky
Good morning, flosey. Glad you had a fun time with family.
I grew some last year but we had a bad summer and they didnt amount to much. But there are some really nice ones on the market to grow
Hi Flosey! glad you had such a nice time with your son and grandson
Ya i like the color of gords how they are all different colors they are very nice
thanks Peach and Puglet, it took me back to the times listening to son practised in his room (25 - 30 years ago)
we made bird houses out of some we grew 2 years ago and I like the small colored ones for fall baskets
np's flosey, and hello dear one. so nice to spend quality time with our younger generations
thanks Rose, such precious times (they live in Toronto)
Thats smart i like that
i'm hoping to be able to see the grandkiddies and son and his wife at least once over the next few weeks.
do you sing and play too Flosey
no puglet, I took guitar lessons for a year before we were married, I was in Toronto and he was at UBC
son used my guitar to trade in on a new one
does your grandson play too
yes, the go to lessons together Saturday mornings
I tried to lern to play guitar but i don't have the pationts to teach myself nor the money for lessons
**they
thats nice they do something like that together
flosey, that is something so special, a father and son sharing a common interest like that
they're the greatest buddies
thats awsome!
don't give up Rocky, perhaps some time later
Rose are you feeling a bit better now? I hate seeing you feeling down
Ya thats what i was thinking since i spent $100 on it
I did teach myself a few lines of a Johnny Cash song on the guitar. But thats as far as I got, lol. I always wanted to learn to play the piano
good for you Puglet, hope you'll get a chance to learn piano - never too late
We have a really old i mean like seriosly old one every one besides me and my brother have taken lessons and got really into it but then just stoped we have had ittuned like 10 times lol
Keep at it Rocky, it's a very pleasant passtime
I took lessons as a kid but thats been years ago. I can only read simple music. I had to go to my grandmas to pratice cause my father had cripling art, so he couldnt stand the noise. And I just never stuck it out after grade school
Ya i tried teaching my sellf somethings resturant i forgot what its called but its really long oh wait never mind its called alices resturant
pugs, at least i'm not crying any more...lol
Why were you crying :(
rocky, the arlo guthrie song...one of my faves from my youth
ah Rose, glad to hear that
What song is arlo gurthie
rocky, surgeon told me i had to wear this blessed splint for 3-6 months. he is trying to avoid reconstructive surgery on my total knee replacement.
ah, just found et8 and 9
rocky...google the name...he was an amazing performer. some of his tracks are hysterical.
Rose just give yourself time to heal. The time will pass and this is a good time for you to let yourself be taken care of and not you having to take care of others.Just be a good patient for your hubby--lol
I had forgotten how to spell it....had to look it up....remember Yul Brynner and the King and I?
Fell better :( my father had knee repacement surgurie that was not fun for us kids well fell better
ah yes, loved that movie
sadly, yes, peach. sadly as it ages me, lol
Oh, honey, don't be sad about age....just be glad we made it this far. Now we just have to keep repairing things.
rocky, i have the vinyl record of arlo guthrie's...
Flosey, I was lucky enough to see him playing it on state in Atlanta.....awesome performance!
we dont know how we hurt our bodies when we're young until we have to start repairing
ah well, peach...btw...i also have the vinyl record of the musical " silk stockings "...now how do you feel, flosey? :)
stage - even
wow, what a thrill, Peach
It was, indeed.
I did have that old vinyl record - and several others of the musicals - my boss use to give me one every Christmas
my Mom gave all my old records to one of my cousins
I had some wonderful times while my youngest daughter was growing up. I miss her terribly. Oh, God, I need to go now.
aww, peach. loads of hugs coming your way, hun.
lol, flosey, MY mum burned all my Noddy books...i was bereft when she did that.
wonderful memories, Peach.
Just searched him on youtube i like him
we had some of the Noddy books for our kids
yay rocky
So what did i miss
not a lot...just a lot of fuddy duddies reminiscing
Poor Peach--I hate she left like that
pugs, peach knows we are all behind her, 100%
What hapend
rocky, please ask peach herself...if she wants to share, she will.
Ok
i'll wait till she is on
nice that you understand, rocky
Yurp

I also hate smoking with a serios passion
Rocky you sound like a very young man. If you dont mind me saying, And sounds like lifes been a little rough for you

rocky, smoking is an addiction. and only when the smoker reaches a heart and mind decision, will the smoker be able to face the addiction and do something about it.
pugs, i have answered your email...
I'm 15 i lost my stepmother grandfather grandmother griat grand mother and posibly my uncle if he doesnt stop smoking he has had 3 heart attacks already
i had several times tried to stop. it wasn't until i realised that i may not be around to see my grsandkiddies grow up, and i had my second angina attack, that my preservation factors came into effect.
Oh ya and my parents got devorced when i was an infint
Well thats good rose

Hi
{{rosie}}
hi rocky
(rose is my secret sister, much younger, of course)
Im back and Hello Ruby
Well atleast you stop that take alot of effort
{{little pug}}
I hate to say but I smoke and I havent been able to quit as of yet
Hi pug
Grrrr
I just read over the chog and that is funny that you and pug are already "sister", Rose. We are forming a big famiy, he**
Ruby Iam so sorry about yesterday. Babble kicked me out and I couldnt get back on
pug: I kept losing my connection yesterday when I was online with you
I like this big family
that is what happened to me. I kept shutting down and couldn't get back in; it must have been a systemic psroblem
at least I feel better knowing I didnt leave you hanging out there
I thought I was leaving you hanging. lol
RUBY... of course you are my sister....xoxox...not so strange, ruby....you and i have shared many a deep and meaningful....
so did you enjoy your tour

just what is it in your country Ruby
It makes me happy but before I start to Watch, I have to make more Jelly as otherwise the currants I cleaned yesterdy, will have to be tossed
Well let me inform you pug that 4'200 kids between the age of 14 and 18 start smoking every day 2'000 of them become daily smokers and half of them die from smoking you can get cancer in ten different places your sperm reproduction sytem can get screwed and your bones weeken i hope this helps you quit
well I hope you enjoy it again today
As long as Froome keeps staying ahead, I'll be fine. I am the veritable anti-Contador!
And a hole bunch of other stuff that takes forever to type
It is such a pleasure to comein here and find my friends, as widely spread out as we are!
rocky, i know you mean well...but you need to back off....smokers will only be able to quit when they recognise both a mental and hea5 decision will they be able to move forward.
thank you for that Rocky. I have research the dangers of it and I have tried many times to quit but just havent conkered it yet. But one day I will! I started smoking at the age of 12. Quiting has weighted heavily on my mind. Thanks for caring enough to write that
Ok rose and your welcome pug
{{{rocky}}}
Thank you Ruby! Its always my pleasure to see you and Rose here too as well as others Ive came to know
What does { } mean
hugs to you Rocky!
Hugs back
rocky, know this..i tried gum, lozengses, patches and 'cold turkey'. nothing worked until the drugs became available .
My grand mother stop by chewing on pencils instead of cigarettes
and then i had to come off a medication which was controlling my fibromyalgia. that took me 12 weeks, and iwas a mess when i finally came off it. but the medication to stop me from smoking was the best thing i ever did.
I felt unworthy about going to church and I have prayed many many times to be able to kick the habit. And to be free of them to one day stand before the lord free. I guess this is my cross to carry until it happens
Yay i'm proud of you you did it
Dont worry pug you'll do it some day
Rose thats so wonderful that you were able to give them up!

good morning all
Ruby my great dane Beulah has started a weird thing here lately
I think we all have some kind of oral fixation. I'm a nailbiter which is disgusting. And it's all related to animal groomingQ
(((sprite)))how are you doing
As long as youbelife you can cuz if you have daubt it will all far apart
{{sprite}}!! how is Rob and how are you?
what is Beulah doing? You are talking to the "expert" on weird dog behavior (Ma!!)
when we go to the river or I let her out for a run --she jumps in the car and dont want to get out
Max, the autistic*
how old is she?
*hugs* right back at you! Rob is more or less the same, got his second injection yesterday and it doesn't seem to change much. He just refused his pain medication in order to be able to feel the actual situation. Nurses were shocked. Waiting for the doctor to show up and discuss things with Rob.
the first time I hollared and hollared for her --couldnt find her and just happen to get something from the car and there she was.
Lol
I worry about you all the time, sprite, and hope you are finding reserves of strength you didn't know you had
she is 3
but good news too: Rob had a talk with Tim and now Tim is being so helpful and positive! He apologised for the grief he caused me too.
Awe
thats good Sprite
It sounds like she's having anxiety attacks.
That is very good news about Tim; Rose was right when she said that Rob needed to talk to him. You shouldn't be the only "bad cop"
Ya my dog is 15 almost 16 she is on her last legs she cant even chew kibble she eats can food
you are so sweet, ruby. And yes, I do. I am certain that the support from you, my babble friends and my real life friends, is the reason I have those reserves. It is amazing how strongly I can feel the good thoughts and prayers and wishes.
I open the back door for her to get out and she goes to the front. I open the front door and she goes to the back again
Lol
sounds like she needs all the security she can get, puglet... the unknown outdoors may be too much for her.
we're not your "real life friends"??!!??
Iam so glad Sprite that the family isnt on odds. That is a relief to you Iam sure
We let her go in the house cuz she cant make it down the stairs
I think Beulah needs hugs and maybe a little Xanax or Prozac
yes it makes a lot of difference. We can relax when we are home now, and share the chores evenly, and we are all feeling better for it.
I have to go now, see you all later XXOX
ruby, YOU are a real life friend! We met and spent time together!
Bye
you think getting sprayed by the skunk may be playing a roll in her behavior
for sure, sprite
bye sweetie, have a good one.
bye Rocky
later, dearest ruby
but I feel very close to Rose and Puglet, too
so do I, ruby. Some babble friends feel like I have known them forever.
bye Ruby enjoy your day
I forgot about the skunk. Yes, that's a possibility, it probably made her eyes sting
*woof*
Lol she got sprayed by a skunk that must be sad yet so funny
woof to you too, lol, ruby
yes not only her but my boxer too
dogs can be traumatised by big shocks and scares just as humans can, so yes, that is a distinct possibility.
sprite. you have known me since forever...xoxox
Awe
it seems like it started after her smelly ordeal
absolutely, rose. Our souls are connected :)

{{{hugs}}} from me as well
Again cant cuz i wont be able to wake up

you need either a better go-to-bed discipline or a better wake-up alarm, lol
rocky, i used to get back to the nurse's home at 6am, and was on duty by 7am..
I have like 20 alarms and i'm not exaterateing i still cant get up with 1 hour of sleep
I need a better go to disipline
Bed
lol, okay, go and do what you can...have a great day....
I wish I had a better sleeping habit. For 2 years now I just snooze for a couple of hours and Iam wide awake
puglet, how are you and how is Gradyn doing?
I'll try but i hate the dentist
good question, sprite.
Iam doing good despite this ungodly humidity and Gradyn and his family are vacationing right now. He starts school in a about 3 weeks
so you are off the hook for how long?
and 'his family' means with his dad? Glad to hear you are ok. I wish you could sleep better... sleep is such a healer.
Hes having a great summer so far! He gets to be a little boy for a change
yes Sprite. so far his mom has left him alone
am so happy for him, and you, and his dad. The power of prayers, puglet, the power of prayers!
the end of August he will be 8. I ve been trying to think of what to get him
your right! such power in prayers
something delightfully boyish, I'd say. Roller skates, wave board, huge water soaker gun, a drum set.
and rose, thanks so much for your sweet emails. They help me so much. I wrote back already to yours.
Well i get to sleep all day tom.................dammit never mind i need to pack :( if you guys see me on past 2am tomaro feel free to tell me to go to bed cuz i dont have the self control to pull my eyes of the screen if i'm not told to lol
those things are all right up his alley!lol
lol--youre funny Rocky! do you live alone
bye rocky, good luck
No i'm 15
*giggle* rocky...watch your back...will be on your case tomorrow
ah, that explains a lot, rocky :D Don't worry, you will develop self discipline. 15 is a tough age.
Why you saying bye i' m not leaving
lol ok rose
yes it is--I wouldnt want to repeat it
you said you needed to go pack, that is why
I dont know i'm having alot fun this year
me neither. All that insecurity and rollercoaster hormones, and not yet experience to know how to relativate stuff... it was really tough.
awesome, rocky. Good job :)
rocky.... go pack..if not...sleep
dont you have an oversee-er to tell you to get off the computer and get to bed-lol
okay...dinner appears to be ready...see you all at the flip
enjoy, rose. *hugs* to you. BIG hugs.
bye bye Rose enjoy and take care
and i'm packing tomaro to tired to pack now and i'm scared cuz i need to lable stuff so for all i nkow i might lable one thing 20 times and forget to pack half my stuff lol
Have a delicios dinner rose
oh I found a new word for the babbe dictionary! How's this: hormom - mother hitting menopause
Sprite -Rose had bad news yesterday at the doc's.She has to wear a brace from the thigh to the ankle for 6 months
I'm on my nook pug and my parents are asleep like i should be
I know, puglet, I read it in her email. Very rotten news.
I like that Sprite
then in it goes! It is becoming a lovely list of nonsense words.
over half, 3 x 6, only one 7, nothing bigger, lol. I am up to my normal standard of biggie blindness. But will find them eventually. God I love Babble.

Rose, two new babble dictionary words: hormom - mother hitting menopause mohare - very soft wool from a big rabbit
Welcome back rose how was dinner
sprite mohare is a real word unless I'm spelling it wrong
Rose in the top right cornor if you switch the r with the e and make the t an o you get oreo
yummy, rocky and sprite. chicken kiev and salad..btw, went into work today, to lodge my time-sheet..everyone said i had lost weight already...does that tell you how much pain i am suffering?
I think it is mohair, Nanette.
ah yes you are right
Yes
that doesn't sound good at all, rose. Am holding you in my prayers and visualising healing hands around your knee.
I am a bit childish that way, Nanette, I enjoy silly spelling jokes like that. Hence the babble dictionary in my profile :)
awww, sprite... such a lovely picture
sorry Rose, thats a hellish way to lose weight
My father lost like 20 pounds in a week cuz he was throwing up every ten minuts
I have enjoyed your little dictionary Sprite :)
So yes rose i know what your going through feel better
oh I am glad! Love it when it can make other people smile too :)
oh, well, nanette...whatever way it happens...i have so many supportive people around me...sprite, rocky, ruby, and now you..i am truly blessed.

ohhhh found the 8/9! Lovely! Never seen those in a grid before.
*giggle* rocky...enjoy...
Yay sprite i only found them cuz of more words.com
oh He is, rose, no doubt about that. He knows me and my big mouth... and if He 'd wanted me reverently, He'd have created me that way ;)
sprite...yay for you
rocky, that counts just as well. As Atalante told me when I started playing here: cheating is when you look up the actual words in a solver. All the rest is research :D
don't scare your parents silly by showing up dressed and ready before they are up themselves, rocky... ;)
brb...off to prepare my meds for the next 12 hours.
good job, rose... see you soon
Did you know your name is the name of my favorate soda sprite so thank you cuz every time i se your name i'm like i need a srite and then i get one and im satisfied
That'll be funny to see thier reaction
hehehe rocky, that is nice. We have Sprite here too and I like it. But I picked my name as an etherical fantasy creature... which is kind of funny since I am much overweight :) A kind of elephant sprite.
I need to wake up ten minuts i hate waking up ;)
Lol
I still like sprite
good :)
Lol i just put my head down and almost fell asleep that would have been horibble lol

Good Morning Babblers
Morning, Christa
hello hello everyone
Morning,Annie.
Hi there, this grid is tumping me
*stumping
hi Bea, How is little Remy? getting any more sleep, bea?
hi bichon, me too
I've been sleeping well. Mom and baby are getting a good 4 hours at a time at night. Everyone is feeling much better.
Amazing what a week will do.
Sounds like things have settled down
ajar
I think so. Daughter is still feeling drained but that is what breastfeeding will do.
drat! sorry
don't be sorry and ty Annie
Can you imagine breast feeding twins Bea. I saw one woman on TV who was doing that. After she fed both of them, she pumped!
bichon, how is this hot weather treating you? It was 97 he4 yesterday
It was around that here too. Do you get a sea breeze Annie. I've watched so much TV in the AC yesterday afternoon. Then hubby came home and we did the same
I can't imagine, bichon.
Yes, we do get a breeze from the ocean..makes things more liveable
Growing up in Rockaway, it was always a savior at night
I love living near water
Wish I could move back to Rockaway, but of course Sandy messed that up.
Bichon, my daughter had an appointment with a lactation consultant. I was amazed that there was such a thing.
oh yes, rockaway is still a mess
Yes, and there are baby dula's. She comes to the house and teaches you everything there is to know about baby care
I wish I had such a thing.
Yes, my daughter's neighbor is a doula.
hello everybody, I couldn't resist. I learned about baby care from my gradmother, via the telephone because I was in Ill and she was in Brooklyn
hi ((ruby))
I got to feed Remy from an infant cup last night. Amazing.
bzzn" my "trick" for breastfeeding, learned from my Greek pediatrician, was a pint of Guiness stout everyday and a quart of whsole milk
I had enough milk for triplets!
and the baby slept through the night at 8 days
I know dark beer is good for milk production. There are ow recipes for lactation cookies.
that is funny, lactation cookies!
good morning all
and he stil likes Guiness and he's 50!
hello teach
hello ruby
gm, teach
My Mom came to stay with us for 2 weeks after my son was born. All her baby care ideas were from the 40's. She wanted me to sterilize the bottles.
hello annie
my mother was like that, too, she wanted me to weigh the baby before and after every feeding. She thought breastfeeding was disgusting. Thank God for my Russian gradmother and Dr Spock
used to be a lactation consultant - decades ago
She is producing enough milk for now. May have to do something to increase production later on.
Pumping would increase the milk
Why Bea?
just no suppléments. If the baby fusses, just sugar water. Production will keep up with demand as long as she doesn't try to lose weight
My mother thought he should have been on a schedule. How do you do that with a newborn?
I think that would be an amazing job, teach.
I was heavier nursing than when I gave birth
it was very interesting - the questions women had - did help a woman with twins
Bich is right. Breasts make milk dependent on the need for it. The more you nurse or pump, the more milk gets made.
I was rather chubby during that period but lost it as soon as I stopped
Really Ruby? I'm surprised. Nursing is great for the metabolism. I lost all my pregnancy weight in two weeks.
It's the only time I had a real bosom
When Remy starts demanding more and Caity needs more milk for when she works, she may have to do something at first to boost her supply.
I nursed for 8 months, weighed less the day after giving birth than before I got pregnant but ate and drank so much while lactating, that I weighed 129 lbs!
I am always handing Caity a glass of water, fruit and snacks while she is nursing.
only gained 9 lbs during pregnancy because I was in school
asa he demands more, she should be producing more naturally - when she goes back to work and is pumping, the pump will not stimulate the breasts as much as the baby does, so have her nurse as much as she can while she is at home
cr
and now, onto the bike. Today is a big day for the Tour!
See you ke=ids later
enjoy your day ruby
Bye, ruby.
Teach is right. I'm not sure what the "need for a boost" is all about.
need stats for an 8 and a 9 - is it a combo?
red boxes of doom just appeared - will try refreshing
good morning everyone:)
good morning crossy
et8 and 9 . . . so on and so on and so on :-)
merci, Une
hi all
thnx une
great clue, Une
my pleasure :-)
may I have a clue for any 7. I have none
halfway, NBT and NBS - time for a breakfast break
te7 here in the south it's where ladies lunch :-)
and plural
Thanks from the UK Une :)
yw chrissie :-)
merci, Une
th7 in your lunchbox it's what keeps your soup hot
ty, Une
And where ladies of refinement partake of afternoon tea
:-D
i still shudder at the thought of how many of those old th 7,s i used to go through as a child with the broken glass liners
yikes
Were you a little boisterous crossy?
just a tad
crossy, i also remember playing with the balls of mercury when the glass thermometer broke . . .
Gasp!
yep . . . twas decades ago . . .
When we drilled into asbestos with gay abandon
yup
lol in the late 60,s very early 70,s my da used to work for Xerox and on take your kid to work days i used to sneak the small jars of mercury out of the work shops because i was facinated how such a small jar could weigh so much
yowser!
And didn't try to sue someone for every mishap or accident
indeed, chrissie
my dad was in the gas and oil business -- my brother and i used to love smelling the gas fumes . . .
please,do not remind me.i just finished up 30 years in the petroleum/hydrocarbon business
Why am i laughing at these annecdotes!
probably why i have had cancer three times
LOL!
laughing at chrissie, not at crossy!!
You're made of tuff stuff though Crossy, kicked its ass x 3
for sure!
all i can say is do not sniff the fumes and wear gloves when handling.too many undoccumented toxic material that only are known at the higher levels
of course . . . but back then, who knew?!
if you ever watch fuel pump repair people, they all wear gloves without exception.yup we learn but slowly
Back to work... Happy babbling all
and i no longer play with liquid mercury:)) tc chrissie
later, chrissie! And i'm off to eat a yummy bowl of local peaches! BBL
te5/12?
I'm with the taste of dentist in my mouth
got it.
th 7/32= lawyer speak
mornin
*jealous of une with her peaches*
et9 - it is interesting how something that already goes to infinity can go past infinity
*ponders*
oh i got the word
i was like, thinking eternity but there was no n
...and then i saw my reflection in a snow covered hill...
*sniffs and dabs eyes*
touching!
hi all
hints for the A or S in the far-right column?
aj4/9
wow. fish! thanks riverdance. :)
sa5/10 I think
the door is . . .
hi river
hello everyone
I shouldn't be here - very busy at work but had to stop in for another minute
That E on the left - I have the 8/9 and the et5. Is the fourth a fish? If not, can someone clue me? This grid is kicking my butt but I am determined to finish.
we'll pretend your not here if that helps. . .
*you're
Hi Ecerybody
I am missing the same one Uni
hey hego
Um, everybody, even.
Hey jmc
found it et5/12 coming after the one you already have - it is not a fish
et5x2
Aha! Thanks River and Phae!
back to work - leaving my last 30 for later - have a great day everyone
bye river
If only I were on the last 30. Have a good one River!
i cannot get the et 8 and 9.my mind keeps looking for the n and cannot wrap around any other spelling of it;9
i am having no luck with it either crossy
me too
think of the King and I... ET8, ET8, ET8...
and so an and so forth
Aha!!
have not seen the movie
ty
I had to use morewords. They go on and on and on. Frequently shortened and said in a group of three.
oh ty evan!
great clue, Evanadine
Crossy, is starting at the wrong e.
it's goes from the left.
it goes
oh!! THAT going on forever.had the wrong word altogether in my mind.ty
yay!!
we all did, crossy. :)
i am so sad about cory monteith. i feel silly about this but, i am anyway.
It is very sad, Hursh.
i could be sad if i knew who he was
he was canadian, crossy, so you really should know
no idea
Some sad young man who wasted his life.
he was one of the starts of Glee, crossy. died a few days ago of a drug overdose.
i do not watch television, remember or read any tabloids
never saw glee
he was an actor on the show Glee, who had struggled with drug addiction since he was 13 (i guess prompted by his parents' divorce at that time)
I don't watch that either.
it is always sad when people die young. . .he was only 2 years older than my boy. . .
that is sad.drugs take our best and brightest youths
but he was by all reports a very NICE young man and he and one of his co-stars had a nice romance going and by all accounts were hoping to start a family together...
he was doing well professionally and starting a family. . .
i dunno, one always wants to believe the best of celebrities even though it is so rarely true... one should really save one's sympathies for the children's families in india and nigeria and so forth i suppose
still i can't help it i am sad about him too
it's much easier to empathize with individuals, Hursh.
i disagree. . .being sympathetic to one person doesn't keep you from being sympathetic to another. .
in fact i believe that caring about one person opens the door to caring about others even wider. . .
yeah
stats for the corner m please
When you see someone on a show often, they become someone you know.
on the brighter side i am very excited for the royal baby to come
It has been heavily reported in my provincial paper. Family and friends all rave about his character. It is hard for me to think of him as a drug addict, but obviously he had his issues. A shame.
It's the way the brain works.
well there is really no reason you can't be nice AND an addict
i am excited about the royal baby too. . .
that is true also.
i have a secret hope that the baby will be born on my birthday - but the odds are low
Me too JMC
actually some of the nicest and smartest people i have known were drug addicts. . . mainly heroin. . .
I keep thinking of Diana now.
when is your birthday? that would be cool!
think jabberwocky mo 4 6
Hi JMB
ty jmb. . . hmmmm
the 27th
howdy all...
twas brillig and the slithy tove did gambel in the baragrove. . .
is the baby due before that?
lets see momrath, no....
it was due 2 days ago.
they never officially announced the due date. kate offhand said to a friend the 13th, but her mom offhand said to a friend something about it being a leo, which would mean after the 23rd...
there is conflicting info
oh i thought they didn't give out info like that!
well as i am a leo i will root for the leo!
channel 2 lied to me, then.
ooo so close hego your word is actually two words
well a lot of people have been treating kate's offhand comment as really official (and i mean why WOULD she say it if it weren't but...)
I'm intriqued
ha! got it. . . hego remember jmb said it was 4/6
I'm looking, dang.
maybe she meant the 13th of august or the friend got it wrong. . .
nbt
lol got it
name that proper phantom! keeps the hot stuff hot and the cold stuff cold
no don't
thermos
it's not a phantom and it counts
lol
uh oh!!
great. . .now i can go to the library. . .
we actually had a women's softball team in ann arbor named the mo** raths
sorry
haha!
lolol
hurshy led us down the primrose path to the PB!
thanks for the word anyway, Hursh
sorry sorry sorry
i totally can't figure out the earlier clue for a th7 about lawyer speak
hahahaha
so today my task is to look up old appellate cases that i was the attorney on so that i can sign up for new appellate cases. . .
pretentious or clever? I think it was great fun either way.
aa compound word
me either hursh and i be a lawyer
OH i thought it was a word that MEANT lawyer speak, thanks hego
have fun with that JMC.
yw
i sort of think law would be interesting but i just need a regular schedule and amount of sleep so i guess i can't be a lawyer.
there are lawyer jobs that are regular. . . i just find the boring. . .
it's sad that careers can't just be about the content of them, that they have to be about other stuff like that too.
oh what kind of ones are they jmc?
i just wish i had a steady income. . . sometimes anyway
lawyer speak like herein
probate rarely takes more than the time you want to put into it. . .
Hi Joso
that's wills and stuff?
ty joso that was just enough more for me
yes. . . writing them too unless you get the ra** call to the death bed. . .
but what about any where you're more, like, helping the downtrodden
real estate . . . .
can those have regular hours
landlord tenant can be fairly 9 to 5 . . .
cool
well if i went to yale law and i did pro bono work they have tuition forgiveness.
social security claims. . .
can you get into yale law school? *impressed*
i dunno, i haven't tried, but i would think i could, i mean i would at least have a shot.
my sil and her hubby both went th***. . . i only spoke at an event th***
i never did well in school. . .
pro bono (free) or community low pay work?
i dunno the exact conditions, i'd have to check
really anything but litigation and appeals can be fairly 9 to 5 if that is what you want. . . you just don't make as much money. . .
yeah i am not money driven, just making enough is fine.
ce 6?
haha i am not money driven either but i do find myself work driven. . .
oh well i must toddle off to the library. . . even if i am not money driven my creditors are! bbl
79 left. . . *poof*
ce6 is NOT ceasar. once i went to a deli for lunch and they had ceasar salad on the board and i said, it's spelled caesar and the girl was like, really? and i was like, really. but she did not rush to change it after serving me, even though there were no other customers. sigh.
bye........
i have never gone back.
nobody cares about spelling anymore, hursh.
I DO
Even the newspapers have lousy spelling and punctuation.
me too.
speaking of caring about spelling, i just sent an email to the World Market folks letting them know that one of the buttons on their website is misspelled. :/
and will probably stay that way, Eva.
websites are hard to correct - who do you contact? we have an extra S on an internal Yale site that drives me bonkers but I can't get it fixed.
working in IT, i know that often, those sorts of things are designed by the web team, and often, the copy editors dont look at them, since they arent, yknow, COPY.
the woman i spoke to about the S claims she doesn't see it.
is there a Webmaster or Contact email address? if you send a message there, it SHOULD get directed to the web department. but like hego noted, oftentimes those sorts of errors dont rise to the level of importance it takes to correct them.
hah. id love to see this mysterious, erroneous S!
it's "messsage"
well, perhaps shes a snake. they like extra S'es. ;)
*shudder*

YAY!!! Hursh!
i wonder if saying an earlier than real due date and getting all the media to swelter outside the hospital unnecessarily is the royal family's version of payback
that would be pretty funny
if kate had done that on purpose
i would laugh
actually, it would.
i do laugh. hahahahahhaha

any clue for the 9????????
It is, but good luck with that stuff here. This is an Obama lovers paradise.
Reactionaries were delighted when Dick Cheney said: "It will be necessary for us to be a nation of men, and not laws."

well the trouble is, i mean, i'm a liberal, and i think the republicans are worse than the dems in many many ways. but neither would have clean hands on this type of thing, clearly, whichever party was in office. it makes me angry and sad.

I think what any politically affiliated person doesn't recognize is that their "leaders" do not always represent their issues. Once in power, campaign promises are usually lost.

howdy,judi:))
crossy has ten years of carbon credits from driving the echo for a decade;)) time to cash them in
Ten years is a long time to have any car. You are more than due for a newbie, Crossy.
indeed,judi
we use our cars 12 years minimum. i am in year 7. todays cars last a long time. we have toyotas.
i am told that if you buy a car that is one or two years old, you do well financially. not sure but i want to try that one out next time.
hondas last that long too, i had over 250k miles on the last one i had
i have only one p word. any clues for the others? my p word is pr 4 5. two vowels after the pr.
mine is a 2004 toyota echo.it has been flawless till just this year and now it is,brakes, evap system, just small things cropping up that cost 400 a month.the new vehicle will cost me less than that but i thank it for the problem free decade
You guys are brave. I start to get nervous when the warranty expires!
my next car i want a plug in
i have a extemded 6 year bumper to bumper coming with the new one:))
cross i would still hold on a bit........sometimes we have several things go bad and then all is fine for another year or two. but your call.
I don't know about Toyota's warranty, but Honda's warranty is very short, like 3 years (at least on 06 when we bought ours)
bumper to bumper always has "ifs"and "buts"
Yes. Hondas are very reliable and relatively problem free. Maintenance is just so expensive. 6 years is about my limit with a car.
my rule of thumb was to always hold onto a vehcle as long as the monthly upkeep never exceeds the monthly payments of a new one
we have either 7 or 8 year warranties bumper to bumper.
good rules cross. interesting.
never bought the warranty. that is a good rule cross
3/36 Warranty is still Honda's stand-by. Never had to replace anything but oil and tires in that time frame.
we never buy with loans so never thought that way. but good idea to consider
anyone have a clue for the er 5?
Er5 = the home planet.
well,if i can ever afford to buy cash outright i would reconsider my options of course
Oops. I'm an idiot. Disregard that.
wouldn't that be EA 5, Judi?
er 5 to build something. boys used to have er***or sets...metal peices
No, you aren't an idiot.
Wow, never buy with loans. I wish I had that option.
there it is! and you can slap me with a fish for that one.
a man gets interested in sex when he has an er***ion.
Thank you, Mkg
same here, must be nice to be able to thump down 30 thousand dollars in cash:))
why dont you have the option molly?
i thought men were always intereste in sex
sex?? where??!
Never bought a car without a loan. *Sigh*.
lol
thump it down? NO. we put on credit cards totally that and who ever spent 30 k on a car?
nor i ,judi
Just once, I want to see the look on a car salesman's face when he says "And how would you like to finance?" and I say "No finance, I'll write you a check"
sorry my credit card charges 20%.i would rather the 2.7% at the dealer
Oh my God, I would never put the price of a car on a credit card.
That would be nice Molly. Powerball is 100mill this week
Interest rates are so low now. Better off getting the loan than putting it on a credit card.
can you imagine, molly 20% on a price of a car??!
yup,2.7 % i can deal with
However, I think mkg is saying they put it on a credit card and then pay the card right off. Which is the same as having 20 to 30 grand available. Wow.
wow,indeed
Unless your credit is shiite and they won't give you a loan.
yes,a crapoa credit rating changes things a tad
crapola*
I would never keep a credit line so high that I could buy a car with it. Too much chance for bad things to happen if your wallet gets stolen.
I feel sorry for one the cops I work with. He just went through his 3rd divorce. The wife hosed him good and then stopped making payments on the mortgage and car. His credit rating went from 800+ to less than 500 in the course of 6 months. He is one furious camper right now.
He's lucky he has any money left at all after 3 divorces.
I have told him he's far too kind and generous to EVER get married again.
He needs a better lawyer
who is this you're talking about?
He has a good lawyer now. Going through the process of getting his name taken off all the joint accounts. He made the mistake of trusting the ex to do the right thing and uphold her promises. BIG mistake.
Ruru - one of my cop friends.
oh
i been married for 20 years, i still don't trust. never trust...
Love is a many blundered thing.
So true judi
It's hard for men and women to live together as a rule
Well, I've been married for 28 years. I'm comfortable giving him the benefit of the doubt on most things now. :-))
20 years married and i trust my beloved with anything and everything:))
your are a lucky person cross
nothing worse than a cop with a 500 credit rating
and a loaded gun
I was thinking attitude :D
my better half saved my life.even if she took it now,we would just be even;))
Oh, he's had some therapy. He's a former Marine and been a cop for over 30 years. He is a very honorable guy. But, women do him wrong.
Judi.. divorce is pretty common among officers no?
Sounds like he keeps choosing the wrong women
Divorce is VERY common for police officers, unfortunately. Stress, shift work = all major contributing factors.
I have a hard time believing that someone has been divorced 3 times and it is always the other person's fault
usually best if a cop marries a cop.then both sides understand
but then they both have guns crossy :D
lol ru
lol,there is that
doesn't matter, in most states they can both have guns anyway
just have to hope the mrs is not the better shot
depends on if there's a Walmart nearby I guess
lol, they sell guns in wal-mart down there now??!!! my god!! soon you guys will have them as prizes in cracker jack boxes;))
Oh, I'm not saying he's an angel. He re-married his first wife after a quicky divorce. That lasted about 8 months. 3rd marriage lasted 10 years. As soon as she knew she was eligible for a cut of his pension, she started cheating on him and spending a butt load of money at the casino.
wallmart has always sold guns
wow
it's easier to get a gun at walmart than a pack of cigarettes
that is actually true, ru
or a porno magazine
they sell tobacco in wal-mart down there?/!! holy crap!!
or cold medicine
don't get me started on the pseudophed!
insane, yes kj?
they will now only sell in packages of 10... and can ony buy one at a time... so allergy season, and I have to buy several times/month... wtf
well, just buy a gun first then, then hold up the pharmacy
Ha ha, Dorens. So true. We can buy guns but we can't buy the ingredients to make our own me4. Outrage!
and this in a state where I can legally buy mary jane!!!
Judi...love is a many blundered thing is a keeper. : )
with a prescription kje
i feel your pain, kje. so aggravating! my hubby doesnt need allergy meds, so i make him buy some whenever i buy it so i have twice what i need and only have to go half as often.
Personally, I think there would be less crime if everyone would smoke a little weed. Everyone would be too mellowed out to do anything criminal.
my very very straight 63 year old cousin just moved to Washington (Spokane) to help her son. He is growing mj and she will be his HR manager, bookkeeper, etc. I'm trying to convince her to try it
yeah.. but the ice cream sections at the store would be picked over more judi :D
lol dorens!
it is so much better for arthritis and bursitis and many other things than the chemical cocktails they feed us now, judi
And the Cheetos section
LOL
Hee hee. There would be munchie flash mobs in the snack aisles!
I do believe it will be legalized eventually.
Well she can't be that straight if she is going to work for a weed seller.
actually, in randomized control trials, MJ does not do better than other pain meds at all, not even close. It is an effective antinausea med though
it is her son. And marijuana is legal in Washington. Believe me, she is straight.
He is not selling it he is growing it. He is a botanist.
I'm with the libertarians on the drug legalization thing... take the profit out of it and the assoc crime goes down
I haven't smoke pot since I was 20 I think
ok, the botanist comment is hilarious... instant image of a cop show and an arrest
I have.
I wouldn't dare now... I'd risk losing my livelihood
But officer, I'm a botanist!
that... and I really don't need an increased appetite ; )
*Pictures man holding up diploma for SWAT team to see* Okay, stand down, everyone. It's okay. He's a botanist!
Judi!! : D : D
Do they do blood testing on you kje at the hospital
cheetos do sound kind of good right now... or some brownies... wonder if I have all the ingredients for brownies...
Hmm. I can see where this will probably go. The U.S. govt. will require you to have an agricultural engineering or botany degree to be able to grow your own.
random drug testing is in all fed contracts
wow
state boards tend to frown on practitioners using drugs ; )
Mmmmm. Brownies...
*Imagines mass registration in the Botany departments of universities*
warm from the oven...
yeeah, they frown on it.... but random drug testing from the feds... that would kill the desire in my opinion
with a scoop of Bi Rite brown sugar ice cream with gingered caramel swirl...
gaaaaaaaaah..I'm trying to lose weight here stop
Yeah. Losing your job for smoking a doobie would really suck.
Random drug testing in lots of professions.
i do want to try that icecream kj. sounds incredible
not in the wine biz :D
I've never worked anywhere with random drug testing before now
not usually for the professioinals... more for the "non"-professionals in my experience
I have also never done any illegal substance... nada
I'm sort of anti drug anyways these days
I'm anti using them, but pro legalizing them
and I didn't inhale
Oh sorry, yeah, "non-professionals".
no seriously... nada. Never tried a cigarette either. None of that ever appealed to me
ah, if it were legal I'd like to smoke once in a while now. Not a lot, but once in a while.. nice feeling
pot should be legal however.. it's just silly to me
research showing it really can be dangerous for adolescents though...
*imagines Doren giggling on babble*
yep... kids caught with pot spend more time in jail than for some violent offenses... f'd up
I agree, ruru and kje. Marijuana busts are such a nuisance for cops. In the meantime, people are highly addicted to me4, heroin, cocaine, etc. Now that's the stuff that will f*ck you up for life.
someday I'll do it and see if Ru can here me giggling//
I'll know by the spelling Doren :D
Not to mention all the high dollar folks tweaking out on their abuse of prescription drugs.
now that made me giggle Ru
wait. i misspelled hear (here) and I am NOT high at all
I was just going to mention that, Molly. Only it's not high dollar folks. Armed robberies of pharmacies is on the rise. Oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc., are all in "high" demand from addicts.
and perhaps if they stopped the "war on drugs", they could put that money into education and health care. Same goes for immigrtion reform.
yup. prescription drugs are one of the major addictions of teens these days
Whoops, fell off my soapbox
That Rush has been on a tear lately Judi :D
True Judi. But I think we learned from the Rush Limbaugh thing that it's not only the low lifes who have addiction problems.
should've left the soap in
haven't we known that for a long time? Hollywood celebrities, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Miles Davis? Addiction problems always -- but then again, maybe they're low lifes????
rush just taught us that it conservatives can have addiction problems as well
I dare say Rush learned his lesson in a very expensive way. Also, not only do we have doctor shopping, we have pill mills run by unscrupulous doctors.
speaking of immigration reform... was laughing this morning about all the rednecks stirred up bc Marc Anthony sung at the all stars MLB game - so proud to be american
singing
which rednecks kj?
*pops out to get more addicting coffee*
Addicts come from all walks of life.
all the ones offended my a "mexican" (which he's not) singing God Bless America... the twitter feeds went wild according to CBS
indeed they do
I read some of the tweets - so sad
ah, well I still am a twitter virgin, and hope to keep it that way
<---twitter virgin too.. but yes the Zimmerman Case shows us racism isn't quite dead yet
it will be a long time before racism dies... and particularly reverse racism
that's kind of outrageous kje.. I hadn't heard that
Not a Twitter virgin. I lost it, but quickly re-virginized myself. Not for me.
* hates Twitter *
anyone who has slept with Jennifer Lopez should be able to sing the national anthem
not surprising ru. racism is alive and well, all over the place
well, i'm sure the rednecks thinks she's a mexican too
*guffaw* @ ruru.
LOLOLOL
Sadly, it's not just rednecks who are racist.
like i said, alive and well.... all over the place
no... not at all...
fireworks
YAY, STEVE~!!!!!
I"m outta here. Got work to be done! *POOF*
bye judi
i tell you right now,if a pouch of mary jane was legal and right next to the tylenol on the store shelf,i would avail myself of it and toss out all the other chemicals my doc feeds me for my arthritis ,bursistus and sciatica
mm..would have to stock a pile of low-cal munchies however
Have you tried any other herbal remedies?
no,i have not.i have ,however used alder bark for headaches
and of course honey and raw honey comb does a bunch of good stuff as well, and pine and menthol
and somewhere i have the recipie for a good old fashioned home made mustard plaster
and i do like the idea of medical ungents and salves and other medicants of that type but need to learn more
Is alder bark different from willow bark?
area
Hello!
hello! I am sneaking in a babble while I am supposed to be watching a training video :(
Boo!
its the most boring video EVER
alder is almost like siliver birch in this area.there is also red alder in some areas
car!!
hi crossy!
Willow bark was the original source of aspirin. That's why I wondered if alder is as good.
and now it is time for crossy's tid bit of the day!!
Andrew Jackson was the only US President to have the national debt paid in full.
:0
i would say alder is good for medium headaches and body aches but not anything more severe
and it tastes like crap:))
just like birch bark soup, full of good thing but my god it tastes terrible
That goes without saying. Nothing that helps tastes good. ;)
what is great fun however and does not taste too bad is making flour from dried and pulverized bull rush roots
best to add a bit of salt to it

I'm normally a whisky drinker but vodka is my next favorite
here, since we have our own distillery right in town it is canadian mist whiskey
they make a simgle malt offering called collingwood
of which we are very proud
-you lucky devils!
so smooth,it is a sin to add anything but a wee drop of branch water just to release the aromas
I'm a Scot and very much ith you on that
never bruise the whiskey by throwing ice at it;)) just waters it down
agreed. the funniest thing I saw was in a little bar on Skye - an American tourist asked for a local scotch.....
here we now actually have "cooling cubes" they are made of highly polished soapstone and come in a pack of 12.you freeze them and pop 2 or 3 in your drink to keep things cool without watering it down
with COKE and ICE
acck!!!
sin!
the whole bar fell silent and just stared at him
and he destroyed a local blend to boot
like he was an alien
the barman wouldn't serve him that
they have pride in theirwhiskies too
as a bartender,we had this layered drink.it was 7 different liquers and the top one was firely hot cinnamon schnapps or whatever and each layer got progressivly colder till you finished with ice cold peppermint schnapps.it was special order only, mtook ten munites to build.i gave one to a customer and he STIRRED IT!! ..he was banned after that..lol
yikes! silly sod
sounds like a drink I'dlike
you sweat making those, using the back side of a spoon to float the layers and keep them seperate
Like making irish coffee 7 times over
mmmm,irish coffee

will be making a few long island iced teas tomorrow.it is suppoed to feel like 106f out!!

hello all - hello sue
Hi Teach
hi wv!
got the et8 and 9, always thought that was two words
so did many others.
don't even think of it as the long word just the three letter abbreviation
top temp at my house is 93.9
hi all
*hic*
99.9 right now.
hi jmc! 91 here but that's outside, not in
i bought white wine so that i could make the wine and peach popsicles
why the hic?
sounds lovely.
ooh, those sound good, jmc! Been sampling?
i love my thermometer next to my desk. . .it records the lowest and the highest temps for each day
i had to check if the wine was the right one . . .
Like a frozen Bellini.
Ah. :-)
the original recipe calls for orange juice but that sounds too sweet for me. . .
Of course you had to check!
i am planning to make a bunch and store them in the freezer for my august barbeque...i bought a double ciclemold today. . .
damn that is a hard word!
i hope it's cooler for you then.
august is not the hottest month in DC in spite of what most tourist think. . .and i am glad they do. . .leaves DC to the natives . . . .
haha and people like me!
hahaha
je...I saw in Food Network magazine that you can buy the plastic sleeves for icepops now. icecandybags.com, $10 for 100.
oh great champ. . .i was just planning on putting them in baggies bit that sounds better.
he's are making me crazier.

Lol! Deeha! Me too! 'Soodle' pales into insignificance... Sorry I missed you, Sue. Hope all goes well with Frank's appointment.
Oh Teach! Well done. Hat tip to you!
Why does Frank need a new Oncologist?
wrong word - mohare- wool made from large rabbit!!!
Gosh, Bich. I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait till Sue comes back. Hugs to both Sue & Frank. ((()))
<Loads of 'wrong words'.....
Upside of slow chog...... I'm actually finding some words....
Soodle, I think a relationship between you and Joe Fin would be perfect. Just the right amount of Irish/British angst.
Molly. Forget about angst. If Soodle got her Soodle claws into Joe, angst would be the least of his worries....
Angst was a nice way of saying sexual tension. <--- Soodle's fault.
The defence rests M' Lud!

Oh, boy, but it's hot here these days. No euphemisms.....just hot! Nobody here has air conditioning, and people are beginning to get cranky.
hi everyone, in and out again today
Hi Flosey :-)
gorgeous day here today, warm, sunny, with lovely breeze
bet jilli's down swimming
Unprecedented weather here. Just like yours, Flosey, just no breeze. My office has no aircon, the windows don't open, loads of printers, 'puters, copying machines, all generating heat. Its like a sweatshop!
Yikes, what was the temp. It was 95 F here today in Connecticut
ugh, your employer needs to at least supply a fan to circulate the air - and wouldn't it be unfortunate if a window was accidentally broken
<---Loves the way Flosey thinks
ar 5/12, the first one, pls
We have fans, but all they do is move the warm air around. Lol! If it was raining, I'd be moaning. If it was cold, I'd be moaning. It was 92 F today. Blue skies, no rain & guess what? I'm moaning!!!
ar + I *** the loveliest lady yesterday, had never seen her before
ty flosey
92 is pretty damn hot for Ireland
I need the last ar5/10, any clues please?
yw bichon
ar + a sibling, shortened
thanks bichon,
yw
Nice clues. Thanks guys!
yw soodle
The heat is really getting to me. All I could think of for Flosey's *** was saw. And I have the word.
mh4 - have been everywhere, nothing accepted
mh + before p's
it was a bit vague, molly - brain is a bit foggy
Sounds like a flower by any other name
It's an electrical term.
thanks Molly, got it
Soodle, you need to see "Shakespeare In Love" if you find Joe Fin pleasant to look at. You will have to suffer through Gwyneth though.
On my 'Must See' list Molls!
<---- just love Moll's clue @ 4.27! :-)
That list gets longer by the day. By the way, House Of Cards was nominated for several Emmys.
I'm not surprised to hear that. But, more importantly..... When are they going to show the final episodes of Breaking Bad?
August, I think. I only watched it a couple of times and didn't care for it. I must be strange
Hi
August 11 starts the last half of the final season here. Don't know when you will get it.
Bich, it's very dark and very intense. I can understand why people don't like it. Also, I am no fan of Bryan Cranston, but I did get hooked on the series for the writing.
Oh, Bich.... I got totally addicted to Breaking Bad. I'm currently watching the whole series again, in preparation for the finale.
I watch lots of dark and intense shows, like Game of Thrones, but I thought this was too edgy.
Without getting into details, there are a couple of things I expect from the ending of this show. If I don't get them, I will be VERY disappointed.
I saw the fisrst 10episodes i liked it but not anoughf to keep up with it
Bich, define: edgy. Because to me, edgy and dark and intense mean the same thing.
The Brits do period dramas to perfection, like Downton Abbey etc, but you guys in the States win the peize for gritty realism!
It was the who meth scene that turned me off. Too sketchy.
Now, I loved "The Wire" which was also about the dug dealing scene
Our national TV station, RTE, made a pretty good series, which I believe has been syndicated. Its called Love Hate. Its not bad! I'm not sure if you guys will get it.....
If it's shown in the US, it will probably need sub-titles. Very strong Dublin accents.
We never got the original Danish series, "Forbrydlsen". It became "The Killing" in the US. It was a big hit in Britain
pr 6?
need that one too
pr6...before + not leg
tyvm Miss Molly
Whee! Love Hate is on Hulu.
H i all. Apparently Love Hate will be broadcasted here on teh 23rd of july on channel 5 and it will be aired in the U.S at sometime
Ty for all the clues too :)
And I need no subtitles to decipher an Irish accent.
thanks Molly, for pr
You're welcome Flosey.
And Bich
I hate packing
Aparently it's going to be re-made for the U.S audience like the Killing and Wallander
What is Love Hate about? We started watching "The Bridge" and like the first episode
Watched all the Wallanders and have read all the book
Are you going away Rocky, and how many have you got on this grid today?
What is on Hulu is the straight broadcast in it's original form. I don't know what they are doing for regular TV.
I don't know Bichon as it's not showing here until next week apparently, according to wikipedia
Hiya Lil, and, wowsers Molls. Let me know what you think of Love/Hate. I thought it was pretty good!

Orange is the New Black.
If you say gullible slowly, it sounds like oranges.
No it doesn't.
Another failed attempt at humor.
I'm having a moment because I can't remember the name of the ice cream man on my block in Flushing when I was a kid. Damn Facebook, who even cares?
It's a Netflix series. Damn good.
we are getting netflix today!! squee!
and the land line is going bye-byes tomorrow
Oh dear, Crosshair is squeeing like an anime fan-girl again.
lol,a rare busy, happy time when bills can be paid off and we emerge from the panic zone
there is nothing finer than going to the bank, paying off the credit card in it's entirety and getting that 20% interest off your shoulder and telling them to stuff it
o gee, everyone goes in the PB today for a little fish th4 word.
Telling whom?
Do we even have a PB anymore?
i do not care.happy crossy today.i will make long island iced teas for everyone in the pb today
20% is ridiculous crossy
we do
I go there.
telling the credit card company to stuff it,kap
20% ru.it is evil
I know. I was just trying to get you to say it again. Small thrills.
That is a high interest rate on a credit card.
Yay Crossy.
jeez.. i'd get another card
i live for small thrills and small victories
it is in the works ru,and capped at that
No, mine was a small thrill of trying to get you to say th4 again. I live in a petty world.
i still do not know what word you are reffering to.guess i will be in the pb all night
My back is hurting.
Very little attention to sending people to the PB anymore. It's perceived as "mean".
them, them, them, them. where is my iced tea?
have 2 of my long island iced teas, kaplan, your back will be fine
It is not mean. "There are rules, man>"- The Dude.
As in The Big Lebowski.
:P take the pb and stuff it.here a nice long island iced tea for kap
I've always considered it all in good fun, but this place has gotten uber sensitive.
I am insensitive and boorish.
i am cool with it
i make my best breakfasts in the pb
I love the PB. It's where the cabana boys are.
or are they fake too?
There are certain words, that we can't help saying in chat, but i'll gladly go to th Pb just for a drink:) There eras cete :D
what about cabana girls??
Since I am already in the PB by choice, why does "Homo" get to be a word?
but hetero does not?
I know, I know, we have wops, dagos and hebes too. Enable has issues.
Lack of interest in cabana girls.
and us crackers:)
Lack of interest in anything. Too darn hot.
can i get a long island iced tea, too, crossy?...been hot here today....hello all....
coming up,penquis!
ty!
I have to go check FB and see if anyone has answered my ice cream question.
you must try them.easy to make, but limit yourself to two
if they are only served in the PB, i can say something naughty....
Not that i use eras and cete in every day language but eh, i get alcohol in the pb!! sometimes us using words in chat from the grid gets over the top, especially when they are everyday used words!i think that some people get a bit too finickety!
Hi Pen:)
hi lilliann...
i just go with the flow and try to have fun
because,at the end of the day,you may try dozens of word games, but ever notice how you always come back to babble??
i'm only here for fun Crossy, which is why it annoys me when people get finickety about certain words that we use all the time
well, let's you and i dance then ,lillian!
is your post aimed at me crossy??
to anyone
just have fun
life is so damn short
so,may as well dance
i think that using asterisks for letters in common grid words in chat is a bit counterproductive, since it just calls attention to the words....
It's a game. And it's a chat where people come to have fun. Some people need to get over themselves.
i love the various ways people clue, some are not much better than spelling it out, others are lovely and creative and make you tink.all are different and interesting
think
I agree Pen. And so is constantly chatting using grid words to call attention to the fact that you have "got them".
i do not analyze my conversations for words in the grid to any great detail.it it happens, bad crossy, but i try to avoid it
Hi pen
Different strokes for different folks. Some people get the cryptic clues right away. Others need something more blatent.
if
Or blatant
hi rocky...
hello all...
I only have 17 words hi jil
howdy, jilly:)) today is happy crossy day:))
Un-cork the gin bottle. Jill is here!
What's up crossy (very happy you're happy!!
there are days where i'm happy for cryptic clues and otheres where i need a more blatant one plus, sometimes i don't get the U.S /Canadian clues, the same as you all won't get the Brit clues.but i'm happy for any clues, especially as someone has gone out of there way to give them, whether i get them or not
Hi JIll:)
just a bit of money at the end of the month and can ease the budget pressue a bit
*holds glass for G&T*
I'm kind of over using a common word that is in the grid.. most of us are pretty good at finding the easy ones :D
Yay, that is always good!
how about a crossy long island iced tea, jilly?
Blessings to all the dear cluers.
they are very good, jilly!
*passes glass to crossy to fill*
Rocky, you're only yaoung and getting sidetracked by other things so atleast you have 17 .
I never am serious when I call PB for people using the words that are common- it's just a silly way of saying GOTCHA. And when will people realize that the PB is a DESIRABLE place to be?
ONLY A GAME!
I have to go do something else. anything else. back hurts.
Love your comment kaplan, and agree entirely!
It's just about having fun. When it gets all serious and sensitive, the fun vanishes.
*plays soothing background music*
I second Molly's comment...and add we have to let people be who they are and how they like to chat...
*Starts slideshow of puppies and kitties*
except for the shy ones like me :D
shy and reserved
people on here make me laugh! :)
i fill the pb with desirable foods!
bye all am off to make some earrings for my Saturday night out.tc
bye lillian
bye lilliann...
See you later lilliann
I hire all the hookers for the PB crossy :D
Hookers in the PB!!! That was never the case "back in the good old days" (There was poo flinging though)
they make rugs in the PB???.... ;o)
Pen gets off a good one. : D
Well, nbs/nbt and halfway. Going to head off to store...bbl...and ruru, I want cabana boys not hookers ;)
psst : Jilly... Cabana Boys ARE hookers
Bye Wooty
i am down to six....now it's slow going....
what about my cabana girls??
no, ruru, hooker is a rugby player :P
Still not seeing any interest in cabana girls.
:((
There are, however, some adult web sites that might interest you. : P
Hello, everyone! WHAT A DAY! My cat had a seizure (he does often), my a/c went out for awhile, the "good"doctor was a bear today and I'm tying to get rid of a migraine...whoa.
Oh, and my Yahoo went out for awhile.
no AC in Phoenix.. omg
Luckily, ruru,my apt. complex is FAST with maintenance and they got it back on track...because I would tend to DIE otherwise.
Needless to say, cocktail hour has come early today!
yikes.. that sounds awful.. my yahoo wouldn't work either at those temps :D
howdy, mimi, did you have to deal with chipmunk dr?
Had to call them and wait on hold for quite awhile but it was better than waiting until TOMORROW when they said I could reset my password....tech imp at work again.
Actually, no, crossy. I was supposed to but was afraid my head would break open if I tried her today.
I make my "real" money with the other doc...but even she was difficult today.....thank God for vodka.

it is here whenever you are ready, mimi
I am ready...my finances are not...sigh.
Getting better, though...grateful for that.
My ex is confiding in me about how depressed he has been since his girlfriend left and went back to Michigan. Bear in mind this is the woman he was seeing BEFORE we were separated. I try to be sympathetic, but...hey...I'm no saint.
down to one!
It's funny...when I tell him I'm staying on my own from now on so I don't get hurt, he still doesn't get that he's the one who caused this....ignorance is truly bliss.
i am done!
Good for you, pen!

Sorry.
Night, all....gone.

Life is treating me fine, it is my job that is not treating me so great. They STILL have not told me where I will be next year. They have put me into what they call the "fishbowl".
life in a fishboel doesn't sound appealing min....

FaceBook is extremely slow.Wonder if the heat effects the internet. Is anybody else having problems with FaceBook?
is the te7 a compound word?
no, the kid's around, and that would probably embarrass him.... just discussing an author.
yes
no problems earlier min, i will go see...fb he4/5 i come...
True, I imagine a son would be startled at the image of naked father serving food.
i can say with conviction that serious trauma would result...
guess it would depend on how they were raised, Molly. But this particular kid spent many years with a super-conservative mother and stepfather who would probably die of shock at the thought...
<---Thinks Pen may have experience with this : D
yes, but professional, not personal.... ;o)
Well, heading out for the night. Have a few chores before pillows....good luck Jane!!
Professional naked food serving. What a job!
i have worked with a lot of children, lol...
Goodnight Wooter. Sweetie dear sleeping to you. : P
sleep sweet, jilly
seems okay to me min. good night jilly :)
Goodbye Jillyjill! I will see you tomorrow in the log maybe.
how are you coming along h-jane?
68 left and I am REALLY hungry.
*hands Jane a piece of pizza*
Might have to wait and finish after Elementary.
(Well, I have dinner in the oven, silly. I'm just busy babbling!)
watching elementary now.. and eating dinner :)
half way :)
:)
oh, then I need to go Elementarize too.
later
bye, jane
That is a grait show
bye jane :)
um....rocky....I am curious....is there a reason why you intentionally misspell words?...no offense, just curious....
chat stopper!....going to the PB now....*hanging head in shame, but only as long as it takes to get to PB*...
heheh. good job, penq, just kill the chat :P
*dancing with the cabana boys!*....
i guess curiosity killed the chat... ;o).....going to bed now...goodnight all!
no she didn't... almost finished eating here... come back from the pb pen.. and get yur hands off that one - he's mine (but is hare if needed) ;)
hey, are there margaritas in the cabana?
ALWAYS jas :))
*slurping loudly*...um....margaritas?....
:P
*taking another turn around the dance floor, glass in hand*....
well, at least there used to be.....
off to bed now....really!
*bows to penquis* May I have this dance?
aw, thanks, jes....just one before i go!
*takes the drink and dances off with it*
you must have been attracted by my summer tie....
I knew you'd be understanding! ;)
the orchestra strikes up a rhumba....
or is it a tango?
party time!....in my dreams, lol....bye!
bye pen :) see you tomorrow
hey all!!! party in pen's head !!! woooot!
sleep sweet, pen
it's bigger in here than it seems - kind of a tardis-head ;)
*wonders if Kate meant to call penquis big-headed...*
au contraire... the head is perfectly sized form our view point - but OH-LALA, the room in there once you're inside.. all kinds of stuff stored in here!
mh? what the crap kind of word starts with mh?!?
( kate never deliberately insults anyone)
the name of the guy that created the scale of hardness for minerals/
that's impressive, Kate... how do you vent your frustration at people doing stupid things without insulting them?
wherre talc is 1 and diamond is 10...
and nokia is 12 apparently... or so says a blogger I read, and now that you mention it, she JUST wrote a post about that scale.... *headdesk*
so they don't know they 've been insulted? if i need to vent i don't do it directly.... soooo un-canadian ;)
ah, i see
ya, if someone really pisses me off, i give them a verbal shot.... they don't know they've been hit until they're down ;)
verbal ninja!
htis is the real def. of the mh word, but i find that people get it form the hardness scale hint... the reciprocal of an ohm, a former unit of electrical conductance.
i can be... but not when tired i tend to bite my lip then, as i am more likely to be very direct, so i just sut up.....
shut up, that is....
Hah. I just get direct.... not polite enough to be a Canadian am I
:) i can work with that if required (just don't tell anyone).....
Did you offer some one a donut ;)
canadian is a state of mind.....
Are canadians really afraid of the dark cuz in "how i met yourmother" they say canadians are afraid of it
heh. i've about gotten to the point at work that someone says "canada" and I want to throw things though... no fault of yours, of course, but I've had 3 health certificates for canadian travel in a row that have been total cock-ups. (mostly due to our state officials, and one due to a doctor who SHOULD KNOW BETTER doing it wrong 4 different ways on the same cert.)
;)
he's only been doing this job since 1975, you'd think he'd have figured it out by now!
poor jes!!!! on behalf of all canadians evcerywhere, and the useless state officials, and ithe semi-incompetent doctor I APOLOGISE!!!!!!
note to americans: canadians will apologise for ANYTHING.... (except what they actuallly are responsible for)... then you can.....bleeep
hahahahahah
My friends canadian and he gets soo mad when we make fun of canada like how you guys are super nice and how you think curling is a sport
Especially frustrating since we're only a 2 hour drive from the border, so it's not an uncommon request
it's true! if we bump into someone... or have a near-miss accompanied by the two-step shuffle, everyone apologises...(sorry, excuse me) even though there is no fault - or the apologiser is actually apologising for the fault of the other pedestrian)
And the way you pronance stuff about.............wait when you type it it looks the same ............lol you know what i mean
"About"
i hear ya jes. border town here - read "culture clash"
Do you know how to spell canada C"a"n"a"d"a"
are the te7 and 8 super obvious in retrospect?
Fairly obvious ..
C-"a"-n-"a"-d-"a"
They have more to do with the 2nd te4/4 than the first
i thought so jes..
te7 small hint, compound word
oooooooh!!!!!! thank you!
nice tip in the right direction tor and joso! hi again torgone :)
Heyas kids ..
down to 4
go,go jes!!!!

hi jmc!
jmc came back!!!

no it took me forever to figure them out. . .
i did i did. . . glad to be missed but surprised
why surprised, jmc?
i did a 3 hour oral history interview about an organization i have been connected with for a few decades. . . .
we all come and go. . . no reason to be missed that much. . .i will come back eventually. . .

how sweet trader, ty
i am sure many would say that but not all would be being complimentary! haha!
hi min haven't seen you in a while. . .how are things going?
heh. well, those people are mistaken, jmc
it is true... you are one of the babblers i would most like to sit down with and chat...i appreciate your well-conddidered commentary and humour.... present company NOT excluded ...
ty jes
i am less well considered in person! haha. . . typing slows me down enough to be reasonable. ..
my bucket list has a new entry... go to one of the washington area babble meet-ups
that is what i like... the spark
Things are ok jmcnrick. I am busy teaching summer school.
it is my day for compliments! one of the interviewers told me that another interviewee told her to tell me how much she appreciated all that i did in the background. . . i was very pleased. . . didn't think people noticed me doing those things. . .
ah the extra money must be nice min. . .
the good ones always notice the hard work put in to make something appear effortless... it ain't easy!
i doubt you're enough less well considered to be unfun in person
and wasn't THAT an awkwardly constructed sentence? hah.
i will always be disappointed that hoss is not an accepted word. . .
haha no but i do sometimes open mouth and insert foot!
My extra money is nice, but summer school is ALOT of work
i have tried that too :(
is it a different course? or just that it is all squished in such a short time?
Speaking of summer school, I must go to bed. I have to get up early for work tomorrow morning. Goodnight babblers!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I will see you tomorrow.
good night min :)
bye min. . . nice to have seen you however briefly. . .
i think i am off too. . .i have a client coming first thing in the morning and i will have to prepare a chart for him. . . after 27 years of preparing his return he still doesn't give me what i need even though it is exactly the same info every year!
lol, SSDD... good night jmc :)

Hi rose
jane, cr + p**s the salt please + this **a nasty grid
sumpertramp album: cr****, what cr**** change the first vowel for another one
thanks
kate, surgeon said i have torn the ligament all the way from the outer aspect of my knee, across the front around to the inner aspect. have to wear this stupid splint for 3-6 months.
hey rocky, how's it going?
Ouch

firewords, my last word was re6 for you granny. I hope you don't re6 your ligament!
kate, i fell at work, on a wet floor. it had been mopped, but no signs put out to say so. my foot skidded backwards, went straight down on my total knee replacement, the skewed to the left.
cjongratulations h-jane!!!!!!!
WTG JANE!!!

Do you have morphine
kate, they metcalled me, and 25 people turned up. very embarrassing to be the subject of a metcall in your place of work.
pethidine, rocky. morphine makes me very sick.
Well hopefully i actually sleep tonight but it doesnt matter what time i wake up cuz i'm not doing anything tomaro
As long as it makes you loopy ;)
when i first fell, i screamed and screamed. made a banshee sound like it was singing a lullaby.
I don't know if the sign would have kept me from slipping, granny. I think I pretty much ignore them. Sorry for your accident.
where are you going in 5 days, rocky?
no doubt rose! doubly humilliating! i hope they were helpful and not gawking...something out of the ordinary will always attrat attention - if only to break up the momotiny....
Are you going to sue for not putting up a sighn
Sleep away camp
In pensilvainya
jane, i usually see the signs, and th5 were none. other people who saw me fall, said th4 weren't any signs out. one tends to walk a little more flat-footed if the floor is wet.
rocky i am seriously considering suing them. wearing this thing 24/7 is no joy, i can tell you. the only time it comes off is when i have a shower
I hope thats often cuz those cast tipe things dont let your skin breath and then it get really sweaty and smelly
Pesonaly i say you should sue them
