crashing -- last few tomorrow :) Good night.

hi and bye nan :)

nm
various things, kate -- Thunderbird and Firefox crashing (with a noise, twice today!), this site froze after I said hi and then came back without my doing anything...
Night guys
nbt/nbs...just barely
bye ruru
good night ruru :) hi crayola :)
hi, Kate
night ru
my babble froze briefly today as well... might have been a firefox thing?
gnight ruru -- you didn't have to run away from me!
he had a busy day today jill.. tied up (hahah) with realtors etc.
Kate, my Babble defaults to IE, much against my will, and nobody knows how to change that. I NEVER use IE!
Realtors? Why?
huh! i have an annoying pop up that always asks me to make ie my default... bloody pain!
looking at buying a new house... prior to maybe getting a new dog...he mentioned that he was very tired, even said he may not make it to the flip....such a soldier!
well! Busy ruru!
perhaps if you un-install firefox, then re-install? there may be a "fine print box" you missed that keeps you reverting to ie?
i should leave off babble for the night, it's very late here....
it's only Babble Expert that goes to IE.
hae you tried to get babble expert again? perhaps you have an older version?
I have the latest version, I believe -- Beta V12
that soounds right...it's what ive got at the top of my screen...don't know what to suggest. gotta be some setting on your computer for defaults?
Hello Everyone!
hi puglet
Kate, I had a guru go through everything and she couldn't find what was causing it. Maybe Lickety can...???
Has Rose been on yet? She got a new baby!---Hi Flosey
hi puglet and hi flosey
Hi Jilli

He was a big baby at that
Hi Kate
maybe lickety can figure it out... probably something simple....

yeah rose!!!! i had an e-mail today...i bet she's excited and EXHAUSTED....
I'll try Lickety.

NO thanks
12 lbs!!! Of course, being in Oz the 23rd might be the 22nd here and in the UK
shes such a pretty girl--have they gave out his name yet
not yet, pug -- William said they haven't decided yet.
she was, i think we eill hear later that she had a bit of trouble.. or the baby did... 4 hrs between delivery and announcement....and possibility of a second night in hospital. she had a bigger "ex-baby belly" than i thought she would. knid of thought she'd be one of those moms that came out of the hospital wearing her pre-pregnancy clothing like nothing had happened.
7:30 p.m. in oz is 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30 eastern time... forget which time zone she is in.. they have 3
I hope Rose post a picture for us all to googoo over-lol
i'm sure she will...as soon as she pulls herself back into earth's orbit ;)
giggle--I bet her daughter-in-law is glad to have it over with
I believe the name of the baby is Simon... the e-mail was quick and a bit cryptic... hte other name mentioned may have been the fmily name, so i don't post it...
yes, but there's another name before that, an unusual name
i'm sure she was screaming "get that thing out of me"!!!! gawd....
If I remember I think it was Blaxon or something like that
it may be the family name flo... doesn't really sound like a christian name.. but again, this is OZ.....
true
lots of strange first names these days
it may have been the mother's maiden name?
These movie stars put such strange names to their kids
do you ladies all have children
that's been going on for generations now... remember "moon unit"?

no snow this past winter but we usually get at least one snowfall
once we were snowed in for a few days but we're prepared
Same here. we got crazy ice though last year.
I thought Can had mostly snow most of the time
It was worrying me about going to see my new grandson at the time. But it all worked out :-)
Ha ha.. now there's a thought pug!
oh I hate that ice! I much rather have the snow
in the mountains of BC yes, we lived in Kimberley for 3 years - snow half way up first floor windows
I got some cool pics of the ice though :-) IT's all about the photos.
Kimberley is in mountain area south east bc, ski area
Ive not done much traveling as it shows--lol
I lived in a ski type area, in montana but we had fairly hot summers.

bless spritey!!!! don't know where we'd be without her :)
ths Biltong
it's a great shot pug... one of yours?
no--I dont have a cam yet but it looks just like my annapooh
annapooh, wht a cute name for a pug :))
I was thinking "is that a name? OR a "breed"?"
when you can, you should load up a fe shots of your fur babies :) (sucker for critter pics)
hehehe i m9 :)
No cell phone that will take pics? I'm amazed at the pics some of those take!
she was an annverisity gift and her name started out as annie but somehow its ended being annapooh-lol
I dont own a c-phone--Iam way behind times
i'm sure pug knows osmeone with a cell or digital camera that can take a few shots for us to goggle at...
I will try to get that done
nuthin
wrong with that!
Bingo!! Bottom row :-)
typing in the toilet... i really should tidy up a few things and go to bed like a sensible person.. had to edit this many times just to make it legible
wtg M9
no rush on our account pug, we can wait :)
yay, m9!
wooot m9!!!
I think it would be better to type ON the toilet.. although perhaps TMI?
ahh Kate! I hope you can rest soon but will miss you going
i really must stop saying that... what i meant is that i am so tired that i can't type worth a crap.. more toilet humour.... not htat i am on the toilet typing.... *NOTE TO SELF...*
ROFL!
i really shouldn't be up so late.... 3:30 am here....

vowel words are my worst on getting
Any of you into jazz?
on that note, before, i start tosssing random clues into the chog i will poof until the morning...if granny rose shows up, give her a hug for me... and all the aussies for that matter!
this is not a quick breeze of a grid! Still have 91 to go!
And then grannie can toss random clues!LOL Sleep well Kate
I like some jazz but dont know any of the artist
D cheshire cat poof
night Kate
same here, m9 - 91 to go
niters all! <tosses choclit for all>
I don't usually listen to it.. but I looked up "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise" on youtube, and a jazz thing came up. I kind of like it...
Night TK. Hope you sleep well :)
Hmm.. drum solo.
Iam not stuck on one type of music--if I like a song I like it
exactly
I will say Iam not into really hard rock
This for sure is not Jeanette Macdonald and Nelson Eddy though!LOL
We rock a lot at our house.LOL
But no screamo. OR rap
I like Gaga and others and some rap but I dont really care for some of the wording in some rap music
nothing like cranking up the stereo while house cleaning-lol
Hmm Bobby Darin also did this song.
bbl. Bye all :)
bye Bil have a good day
Wow almost all these are jazz. I just want a straight lyric version...
Bye Bilt
I found a cd on sale at walmart of Kc and the sunshine band--nice cd for 5.$
What fun!! And is that the way (uh huh uh huh) you like it?
I had forgotten those songs until it refreshed my memories---lol yep thats the way I like it and I can shake my booty while cleaning
Ok I found one I like. Still jazzy.. but the melody still shines. Helen Merill
Well sure, now you have your boogie man
Now you need Peaches and Herb so you can shake your groove thing too!
nothing like the oldies!
maybe one day I will find them in the discount rack--lol
Oh, now I've found it the way I wanted to hear it.. Mario Lanza for the win! LOL
He does his vowels strangely at times.
OOhhhh.. he does "one alone" too. I guess I'm in a Romberg mood
When Lanza sings "hell" it sounds like "hail"
it seems so but its nice you are enjoying your morning
nope.. couldn't handle his "one alone" going to listen to Nelson Eddy :-)
If I could combine the two.. I think that would be just about right.
do you have any clues for the i in the left col
sure. stats or a clue?
either or
io6
can you smell it in the air?
tyvm
yvw
87 to go...
I tried to play a whole week once of only giving musical clues.
81 here
bet that was hard
84
didn't work so well LOL
May I please have a clue for mi7-40 the 1st? Thanks
hey peach
Hey there, m9. HOw are you?
don't have it yet. looking
Hot! and sweaty! after midnight!
Thanks for looking.
Thanks for looking.
Yes, it is here too.
it's a bad word. LOL
one would consider....
and that, is a clue!
taken together..
mi7: Mr De4's daughter.
not quite. ends with diff letter.
Oh.. you do not refer to the movie.LOL
movie? What? Eh?
I don't have any clue to what I'm looking for....LOL
Ignore the movie bit. Look for de4. Add prefix.
prefix that means bad.. well more like wrong... or could mean a young lady..
LOL
Oh yea, I have it now.....thanks so much.
but dach, there's a movie called Mr. De4s - meaning acts.
Adam Sandler movie
Thanks to Dachef and m9.
really? I guess that one passed me by.
Darn, I missed it. I do like Adam Sandler.
good morning all
I like him... sometimes...
(((Sprite))) morning
Hi there, sprite and pug.
do you see!!
oh.. there's TWO 7/40
oh, you mean mr deeds? But that isn't in the grid...?!?!? Confusion reigns. Or maybe I've done that thing again where I think I'm awake and playing babble but really I'm running through the mall in my pants screaming about the coming of the Great Blue Aardvark.
hiya pug :D Thanks for your sweet email. You look awesome with your icon!
No.. but it was close enough that I didn't want to spell it.LOL
Hi peach! I thank You Sprite
hiya peach and Dachef
Oh, Dachef, that was a good one. LOLOLOL
such a sweet little pug
tyvm
at least you're in your pants!
the Aardvark though is nekkid
sorry - US/UK semantics. In English: pants=underpants.
Is it Cerebus the Aardvark?
He wore clothes sometimes. Or at least a powdered wig.
even underpants must be a consolation when running through the mall, grin
Ah. underwear. Or for women panties.
I suppose you say slacks or jeans? for pants?
or briefs. Or skivvies..
or...
trousers, maybe?
No, we use the English word: trousers.
for under garments
oohh trousers. That's nice and formal sounding.
a pair of trousers, as my teacher english would have corrected me... a pair of glasses... a pair of scissors.... a pair!
Please feel free to clue any mi7-409 and mi7-36...they would be greatly appreciated.
I do believe I'm going a bit batty here. Sleep deprivation.....
he taught us many things that were no longer true, grin. He also claimed in English it was not allowed to say "I have an umbrella', you always had to say "I have got an umbrella'
I have one that means you clock something wrong
sprite: nonsense. Even the worst kind of pedant would not pull you up on that. And I'm a fully paid up member of the pedant society.
another young lady that you wouldn't want to um.. acquaint yourself with in a dark alley.
ths Sprite got it
Oh, sprite, I have that one, thanks so much.
thanks Dachef! I learned better here in Babble. Though for a foreigner it is not always easy to keep American and English apart.
mi - wrong encounter
yvw :)
and then.. of course.. how a slob does their bed :-)
thanks Dianne, and hi
mi7/40 - wrong production
Thanks so much, Dianne, I needed that.
and then if you DO run into her in the dark alley.. well then you are mi6/24
lol m9
thanks sprite..
Thannks m9, for the last 7-40 . Only need the 7-36 the 1st.
that's the dark alley one
my first one is if you run into the wrong guy
present tense of the 6
kind of reverse of the 40....
I have no idea what everyone is cluing or indeed what someone was looking for in the first place. I'm out.
harden the dental consonent..
You all are wonderful.....I still have 20 to go but I am going to head for my pillows before I fall out of my chair.
LOL!!!
We're beating a dead horse :-)
bye Dachef and peach, have a good one :)
good night Peach
night peach! (have to spell it correctly today!)
a dead Aardvark
night to you too Dachef
no.. long live Cerebus!!
Iam starting to feel like a dead aardvark
once they're dead, I don
I look like one. Feeling better though, just finished my coffee.
t think they feel much.
are you under the weather Sprite
saw your lights on, thought i would drop in. g'day from me from somewhere which isn't home...
as if you have ever been a dead aardvark ;)
sorry I never asked how your hubby is
hiya rose! *hugs* How are you today, hun?
I aint even seen a real aardvark-lol
Rose! hows the baby!
puglet: he is doing well, and don't feel obliged to ask, don't worry :) He still doesn't have much pain, is active as far as the weather permits. Walks, rides a bike even.
great thanx. we are staying in drouin for the next few nights. having a look around the area as this is where we want to retire to.
rose, hun, you are a triple supergranny now! Congratulations.
pugs, he has arrived. 12lbs, braxton simon.
Flosey sends you hugs and good wishes on the new baby(she had caught some kind of stomach bug and left earlier)
aww thanx
poor flosey :( *sends healing vibes*
Oh congrats rose!!!
12 lbs!!!
apparently he is in neonate intensive care. he got stuck, and they had to do CPR on him for a few minutes.
I like braxton. Short brax. Has a nice, manly ring.
such a big baby! Are you planning a move Rose
I like that too--its different
aw poor little man, and poor parents. So scary. Is he doing well now?
LOL makes me think of braxton hicks,LOL I like the sound of it.
but he is doing well now, breathing up well on room air.still has an IV in, they are hoping to perhaps bring him home early next week.
OH that's good!
sounds good, rose.
m9, that was my initial thoughts too.lol
good Hope all goes well for him and your family
That must have been so scary for Mom!
gotta post some pics of him Rose when ever you can
Good thing they didn't name him after a word heard in pregnancy like I heard of one couple doing.... they thought it sounded nice...
poor lucinda...gosh that is one heck of a woman. btw he was 2 weeks early, imagine if she had gone to full term
which word was that, m9?
He might of been a 14 pounder by then
respect to lucinda
pugs, reyour earlier question. not moving until mother mac is no longer with us. we would like to let her live out her life in the comfort of her own home.
you are good people, rose.
Meconium.
*giggle* that's what simon said....'mum, my hat's off to her. i couldn't have done it'
ahh thats nice of you guys to let that happen
omg... oh that is bad, m9. That is really bad. Poor kid!
*giggles* And right he is, rose, he couldn't. Biologically impossible, grin.
yeah, and we all know just how much pain men can put up with, don't we?
yeah right Rose
(pretty sure it's urban legend.. but I could see it happening!)
well... just saw my love go through hell and back and he managed... he put up with a lot of agony.
they are worse then babies when it comes to them being sick
anyhow, i just wanted to touch bases with you all. going out for dinner at the local pub or maybe chinese...see you all at the flip. xoxox
enjoy, rose! *hugs*
Iam talking about like simple things--sorry Sprite I didnt mean to put what your hubby went through as simple
{{sprite}}}, {{pugs}} {{m9}} *poof*
Bye Rose have a wonderful evening and congrat again
pug, don't worry hun, I know. Just had to speak up for my man cause he is a freakin' hero :D
Iam so glad for you Sprite that all has worked out well for your family
all these Prays helps Iam almost sure of it
me too. It were a pretty intense 2 weeks. Yes, all the prayers and good thoughts helped a lot.
yippee I get to wash walls today(yuck)lol
how are things with you and your husband?
argh, poor you
Yikes.. I just looked on familysearch... and yup. Three people named Meconium.
right now good--until the next ep
m9 how awful! Is there no protection against that kind of thing? Here some names are simply not accepted.
next ep, change the locks and keep him out until sober again...
I have to really watch that I dont let him pull me down--I use too but------yuck what a name to be stuck with
Iam pretty strong willed so I dont take too much laying down-lol I might be better off if I did
oh no... much better you being strongwilled!
heres an example--last summer he buys a moped like thing and didnt have it 2 weeks and he goes off to the bar(he hasent had drivers li. for years) and after his 2 day ordeal he parks it at the campgrounds and I take the truck and ran over it about 4 times. Needless to say it is no longer used for taking him out
love your spirit, pug!
I need a clue for the o in the right col. have o4/10
pug - the most of the one you have
ty Di
thanks Dianne
yw :)
down to 70 need a brk from this--take care all and wish you all a blessed day/evening x's
bye pug, you too :)
hello
hi ruby :)
{{sprite}} how is Rob and how are you? Is Time still behaving?
how's life at your side?
or even Tim!
Rob is doing very well, he just left for a short visit at work! Not working, mi4, just to say hello and keep in touch. Tim is being incredible. Helpful, social, all one could wish for.
that is wonderful news, sprite. And how are you doing? Are you sleeping?
still not doing great, but I can't really say which part is reaction and which is just the terrible heat, grin. We are all apathic here. I moved the fan closer to my bed last night and did sleep a bit.
looks like the heat wave is breaking, btw... overcast today. Am hoping for a thunderstorm!
Our weather is wonderfu! Very hot but pretty dry in the afternoons and then storms and rain in the evening and at night
Did my typo put me in the PB?
oh that is SO nice. Am happy for you :) And how is your husband? And the puppies? And most importantly, how are you yourself?
yep, it did, lol
I feel like a kid, that is until I look in the Mirror lol
duh, and when you look in the mirror, you see a wise kid :D
fireflies! Easypeasy grid today. Fun though.
:) Hi! Can I ask: what is the PB?
hiya swmbo, it is short for Penalty Box, the virtual place you go when you type a grid word in the chat.
it's where you "go" if you mistakenly type a word in the chat
that and more can be found in the babble idiom list in my profile too
best place in babble, btw... always stocked with goodies.

hello again, back from tasty lunch, osso bucco
this resto is close, but usually not very good
Hello ruby. What might osso bucco be?
hi ruby
Hi carlee
it's the inexpensive cut of veal around the big marrow bone. It's one of the few dishes that the local Italian makes very well and he makes it just for us!
hi bil :)
anything is better than cooking 3 meals/day
and since my husband is anti-fat, I get to eat all 4 marrow bones!
Sounds good ruby. I agree, especially when it is so hot.
dinner is a chore and I usually don't eat, just make something for DH and dogs
you need to eat ruby
I eat, just not so much at night
I am not skinny!
You should maybe just have something light then, ruby
Good day to all.
it is not about skinny it is about stamina
usually I have a snack when I come down at 11PM for the pups. They have a treat and I have a small snack

My Mom asked me to take her to a bridal shower and wedding as she doesn't drive far any more. So tonight is the night we go out to buy gifts. I hate bridal showers.....ugh....but what we do for our mothers....

Hello, young lovers!
Wherever we are...
Exactly.
And thanks for changing my musical comedy song up. I've been on There Is Nothing Like a Da4 for an hour.
Trying to remember which musical that was from and who sang it. *brain has not received enough coffee yet*

Hi Annie
Back again for a while
Hi Bichon
welcome back, bichon
Annie, what do you think about the Anthony Weiner situation. Should he drop out of the race?
why would he drop out? just cause he's behind now?
No, he got caught agin
good morning everyone:))
Have you not read the latest news about him hurshy?
Hi Crossy.
WHAT?
AGAIN?
what a DOOF!
big doof
well WHEN did the new things happen?
bichon, what a situation...he texted naked explicit photos after he left his post as congressman. He did it again. His wife is standing by him.
I heard yesterday.
yesterday
God bless her, is all I can say.
I think his wife learned it from Hilary Clinton, her best buddy
no but i mean, when did he do them
he left in 2011, did it again in 2012 after he was in rehab.
his statement is that he warned everyone that more stuff could/would come out. Not sure what the woman says as far as dates of the new pics
am 7 anyone?
am7 peaceable relations
I gues if Sanford from SC could get elected again, why not Weiner
ty
sanford *shudder*
He was a decent congressman but??? I shudder at Sanford too, what a creep
and what about this san diego guy?
ugh
not up on the San Diego guy
san diego guy?
I really don't know about his record in Congress.
there was something about the governor from Va.
mayor - filner - sexual harasser as it turns out
what is it with politicians? i HOPE they are disproportionately deviant cause i would hate to think this is this common in the rest of the population.
I think Obama is a straight arrow
they are mostly men.
power corrupts, etc
power corrupts.absolute power corrupts absolutely.
:)
right
I am sure the Reps. are following Pres. Obama looking and looking. He is a straight arrow and a fine man.
but
give someone a hammer and they will want a nail to pound with it
personally i like obama
i think the original idea of power corrupts was that you would abuse the power for ordinary corruption. why the so much sexual deviance seems like possibly somewhat of a separate question.
What about Eliot Spitzer (running for comptroller of NY). He had to leave the governorship because he was cavorting with prostittutes and now he is also back running for comptroller.
spitzer just seems like an all around creep
Yes, and Spitzer's opponent is really pissed off
bichon, Spitzer came in almost at the last minute
they are all creeps if this is how they behave in public office
but it sounds like NYers may be figuring they are better off with the devil they know
That's that! Fireworks!
Spitzer was once called The Sheriff of Wall Street but he is a very vindictive man
yaa for judi!!
congrats, Judi
WTG!!!Judi!
congrats judi
She is quick!
clue for in 6 please
I am a plodder.
In6. Kind of a compound word. Not tardy.

tadone!! finito!! hi everyone!
crossy, have a kindle question for you, somehow I managed to change the language on my kindle. how the heck do I change it back? any ideas? currently writing in Kanji! YIKES
lbd, is there an icon for settings?
st stint
From the Home page, Select Settings, then Device Language
sec..lbd.just got back
ahh molly has it
flosey is stuttering :D
in kanjii?? lol
well you better be writing a book called "Kanji for dummies" for me to read then:)
i was never good at other languages:)
found the fix on amazon. thanks for the assist
lol, I can't read kanji, the little Japanese I speak is probably enough to get me dinner or sent to jail! lol
for my B&N nook i get everything in settings as well:)) crossy loves his nook:)
my beloved still uses her 4 year old sony prs 700.works like a charm.was the fist to have a reading light built in
first
thing cost 450 at the time.now you can get a nook glow for 70 dollars lol
i'm pretty good at picking up spoken languages, but writing it is another thing. I'd do okay in an immersion program, think I need to travel...a lot! :)
i remember when the sony's came out. they were quite the rage. and very spendy!
yes, there was some complaint because of the 3 screen layers.you had one for the e-ink,one for the touch screen and one for the innovative side lighting and many complained about the matte finish it gave to the lettering and as a result they were not maufactured for too long, about 6 months and they were discontinued
but my better half loves it
as far as i know, sony still make good ereaders but the B&N nook stole my heart 3 years ago
sadly in the last year sales of nooks have dropped some 25% due to all the tablet choices we have now like the great nexus 7 and the like.the word is e-readers from B&N will not continue past jan 2014;(( so if you want a nice nook glow, get one now
that could also be due to B&N having some financial issues...just a rumour i heard.
Does anyone have a kindle HD? i am not able to charge mine anymore. Any suggestions?
I have a Kindle HD, you may need to change the cord. They tend to get kinks in them and die.
I read the same thing LBD. It seems Barnes and Noble can't keep up with the competition from Kindle/Amazon.
hi all - no 6, please?
I don't have it yet Nan
no6...same first three as no4 plus suffix that means "practice of"
ty molly
imin e
opps, so sorry
si 6, please?
Marjetta, I have replced the cords.
*!* ta da *!*
am7?
si6= si+earth's satellite
am7...am + vowel + what men wear around their necks.
Tink, if the issue is not the cord, then it's the battery. I would contact Amazon Customer Service. They are very helpful.
ty
Tink call them, it's probably the port is loose so you need a new one. It happened to mine (it's not an HD though). They sent me a replacement. It just happened to my husbands recently but we haven't called yet. The port on the kind for charging gets loose. They really need to figure out a solution to this because it happens a lot
why are the s's so hard
good afternoon Babblers
Hhi puglet :) just got here myself!
welcome to the world george alexander louis... and now to babble
((Kate)) long time no see--lol
{{{pug}}} it's been ages! <sicker>
so he got his name I take it then
yes, and now i will be a normal babbler again. i
it is not so much kindle as all in one tablets snapping up ereader customers though saying that the kidnl seems to have the biggest PR and advertising budget and that helps
kindle

crossy, you had to see that coming....

i am very disappointed ..hello all
it is common for brrits to reuse names from past ancestors
jaezee wasn't even in the running...
afternoon Ivesy
for exampme my middle name is also my das first name and my brothers middle name is also my das middle mname and my das first name is my grandfathers middle name and so on
why disappointed ivesy? because they didn't use spencer?
our family is full of that too... cynthia is rampant with the girls....
thought they would use something little more modern., but old royalty i guess.
why not Dave? Prince Dave?
I'm glad they didn't use Spencer.
never gonna happen kap.... remember king george VI? his name was david....
our common name is john, grandfather, my brother, a cousin, all in same side of family.
i am too molly.
Jim-Bob? Tommy Lee?
should have used alexander.. thats the middle name, prince alexander..
Gus?
spencer reminds me of the nerd on king of queens show lol
ethelred
Dude? Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of The Big Lebowsky.
Or something really British, like Chauncey.
Clive.
The Dude abides.
Thor
taht name harkens hack to the beginnings of britain steve... no blood ties there...
or reginald fortesque the third
lol - chauncey is a dog'e name...
there you go crossy! that's a keeper!
should have been duke, then he would have been prince duke
How bout Prince, the Artist Formerly known as?

Well, don't tell Chauncey Billups of the Detroit Pistons that.

need to run to town--good day all!
could be worse... you might have been named hyacinth as in bucket... ;)
on the news last night a little boy (American) thought they should name him Abraham Lincoln
too american.they might of named him winston however
the english royalty dont use jr?
<snort> kind of sw5, if the kid was little...
our best dog was Winston..Springer Spaniel
winston wasn't royal though
no jr.'s ordinals
I wonder if they'll call him Geordie
good name for a pooch, i know a little yappy winston here.
they could have named him yale, prince george cambride yale, or harvard
our Winston was a gentleman..never barked
lol ivesy
My earwax is making it hard to hear my clients. Maybe that's a good thing.
springers are great dogs :)
he was

Kap, have you considered getting your ears flushed?
I have to wait to go to the EMT to have him nuke them.
they stick your head in the microwave?
No, but I have considered having my mouth washed out with soap.
he'll be all set with aliases if he decides to go into a life of crime...kidding!
No- he is very skilled at unplugging them. But he is on vacation.
It's a great moment when he pulls out an ugly brown plug and I can hear again. Not that you need this iformation.
But it might come in handy during a lull in a conversation at work.
a few drops of mineral oil in the eaar before bed and a towel on the pillow may give you some relief kap
You could be at one of those awful work gatherings, and you could lighten things up by sharing that you have this friend on Babble whose ears are full of wax.
I guarantee no one will know what to say.
1/2 peroxide-1/2 water flush cleans my ears out very well.
george , george , george of the jungle... sorry little prince
That is all the doctor uses anyway.
I Good night Sweet Prince.
They coulde have named him Hamlet.
Georgie, porgie, pudding pie, kissed the girls and made them cry.
With a brother named Piglet.
so they could say goodnite sweet prince...

The Manchurian Candidate is on..Jessica Fletcher is mean
Angela Lansbury was in a lot of good movies before she got stuck in the Jessica Fletcher rut.

ivesy that movie scared the sh** out of me
Dead Man Walking...well acted but very depressing.
Molly she was so good in Gaslight
Really West? Damn, don't ever see The Exorcist then.
I started reading the book Molly so I have never watch the Exorcist
*watched
National Velvet, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Court Jester, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The Company of Wolves
If The Sixth Sense scared you, The Exorcist would keep you up nights for months.
took me a year to shower after Psycho
I had no friends
*Laughs at Pig-Pen like West*
sixth sense scared me lol.. but i liked it.. . also have castaway and wall street recorded.....did any see second hand lions?

the girl under the bed did it for me
wasnt as as scary as i thought it would be..criminal minds prob. scarier
well when she puked it did me in... i hate that
I have to admit I really liked the way it ended
What about some of the earlier horrors, like 'Frankenstein' or 'Dracula'?
me too west..
F was sweet D was scary
how about the fly? that freaked me out
Which ivesy? The original or the remake?

i like old movies. with spencer tracy, katherine hepburn.. that sort
love TMC
I mean TCM
the remake... caught bits of it as original
yes tcm.. great channel
I'll tell you which movie is freaky.....'Freaks'!!!!!!

'One of us, one of us...gooble gobble, gooble gobble....one of us....'
no lie, but we are provided televisions at our desk so we can watch the network all day.
Catching one of my favs today, The Manchurian Candidate.

Yay! I'll have to tell my co-workers about our fans on Babble.
Ivesy, you and I would be great movie buddies. : D

I had nightmares the first time I saw 'Elm Street' (when I was 12)
O I wonder wonder who I wonder who
who wrote the Book of Love?
Prince Cameron Of Cambridge. Sounds like a Monty Python name.
Apart from Scream, they are the only horror films i watch MM
hi all.
ivesy, I like the old movies too. and I do not like remakes.
I want to see the new Sandra Bullock film, i think it's out on the 31st of July here
I've also promised the bairn that i will take her to see despicable me2
they trired to remake one of my favorite movies "Swept Away" with Madonna no less. Ugh!
U've never heard of that film Peri and hi :)
*I've never heard
I'm waiting to see 'Kick'Ass 2' and 'The Hobbit'
si6 is a new one for me, i'll probably forget it :)
I've never seen Kickass MM but i have read 'The Hobbit' so would probably see the film
Remakes always flop. I don't know why Hollywood keeps making them.
indeed, Molls
I know i don't like majority of the remakes i've seen but with alot of films we know because they have been remade, digitalised, the younger people of today love them
I like the original Star Wars, but the bairn likes the new ones
They weren't a flop!
bl
It's like Planet of the Apes. How many times are they going to remake that film??
I just didn't get that one Lili. Got only part way through.
But again, I couldn't get into "Breaking Bad"
Breaking Bad, not for everyone. But amazing.
Hey everyone
hi helen
Hi Helen
Very confusing. That's my real name.
Hi Bichon,Hego and helen, sorry, i was away watering my plants.i must admit planet of the Apes is a hard film to get into, not my type of film Bichon
Peri, did you know that the actress who played the lead in Swept Away died this year? I, too, loved that movie and, like you, wanted to vomit watching the re-make!
I've just seen Swept Away on wikipedia, but it was the Madonna film and i think i've seen it.It sounded very familiar anyway
It's like they want to remake Dirty Dancing. It will never be as good as the original, and apparently, that was supposed to be a flop and they were really surprised how well it did.
I consider a re-make of Dirty Dancing a sacrilege.
And an insult to the memory of Patrick Swayze.
I agree Molly
That's exactly what i think on both counts Molly. I loved that film, and sadly i know all the words and it is the only music that my husband will dance to, well, bump and grind to (actually, he holds me and sits me on his thigh and shakes me a bit..lol) :D
sounds very erotic, Lill. lol
<---Afraid of what L might post next. *Covers eyes*
:)
as erotic as man with no rhythm built like a brick shed and a woman half his size with no balance being thrown about like a rag doll....NOT sexy but we like it lol
Sounds a little sexy to me. ;)
And fun.
it is fun and makes me dizzy but it's the only dancing we can do, apart from when he picks me up and does a slow dance.that's romantic, it's just a shame he's not here very often and that we don't get to dance much.
He's not a big dancer though, so when we do get a slow dance it means everything :)
L steams up the chat with her sex talk. : P
Aye, it's as steamy as a hot cup of coffee :D
Grumbles..... I always miss the best bits..... Hello all! :-)
Hi Soodles :)
Hi Lill! Between Dirty Dancing & ketching up, you & your man clearly make the most of your time together! ;-)
Cutching up and that is not sex but cuddling. we haven't dirty danced for a long time sadly:(
when he use to be home every weekend and we went to our local working mans' club when they had bands on, and if they played dirty dancing we'd be up h
Doh! I couldn't remember the word 'cutch'. Sorry.
oops, we'd be up there :)
np Soodle, i was having visions of him poring ketchup all over me lol...not a good vision
:-)
Up sounded better
well, the welsh word is Cwtch
Mmm, why doesn't that surprise me from you Ru...lol
Well at least I am firm about it
Hi Ru. :-)
drive-by.... Hi everyone :)
Hi soodle
Hi Smores:-)
OMG...lol RU.you are one bad man!! :D
Hi Smores:)
lol...hey ruru
Hi Soodle, lillo :D
hmmm...lilli that is
:)
That Ru, he's a bad mof...shut your mouth
He's a complicated man But no one understands him but his woman
hi all!
hi sue, how goes it
Hi Sue.How are you and Frank doing?
hi Lilli and bichon! We are good. Frank has to have a wisdom tooth out tomorrow, and is not looking forward to it, but at least it is not abscessed.
si6?
sorry, kje, I am just starting
don't have it kje
don't have it...
si + not sun
iI remember you saying he had trouble with a tooth and didn't want to see a dentist, so i'm glad he did.It should be a piece of cake to him with everyhting else he's been through lately.i hope it goes well and he'll be fine :)
ty Molly
ty
I
oops
I'm sure he will be, lilli, he's kind of a baby about dental work though
See L, your memory is okay. : D
ty molly...
boy I always miss the good parts! lilliann, you devil! Maybe e hould write "the bok" ABOUT HER, mOLLY
I remember certain things but not all.i don't know why.someone can phone me and a minute later i don't remember there name or where they are calling from, the same as when the bairn speaks at times and when my husband tells me he as told me numerous times and i also forget what i've said to others, so no it isn't okay.
How did he get to be his age and not have to have it taken out?
Lili, we all have our senior moments
I only had two wisdom teeth and they're still in olay and working
It could be the same reason why i have 2 baby teeth when i', 44 Bichon :)
Usually they take them all out at once. Sooner or later they're going to have cavities
I've talked DH into writig down what he can remember and using index card o the morie can be sorted later
Maybe it will help him as he keepws beatig himself up over his regrt
I didn't have all mine out at once.
Hi Ruby :) I'm suppose to write things down, when i remember i do but then forget where i've put them..lol
Sorry to hear that Ruby. Regret is a difficult thing to deal with, late in life.
I can't imagine having to go through that again
You need a notebook, L.
DO YOU THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA? i THOUGHT TH IDE
That's a good idea Ruby, or he could tell you and you could write it when he's not upto it, but saying that when he is, it'll be something he could do himself
Whoo hoo! Party at Grappa Girl's house!
I have a pretty good memory, not great, but okay for the late 60's. My husband, can remember what he had for sessert 10 years ago
Do you think index cards are a good idea for sorting later a his memories come out out of order
i do Molly, but as i've said either i forget to write in it or misplace it :)
*dessert
I offered to transcribe3 then I DON'T HAVE TO ISTEN AGAIN.
I offered to transcribe3 then I DON'T HAVE TO ISTEN AGAIN.
Maybe i'll even put the ights on so i can seen= what i'm typing
That's the thing Bichon, i can remember certain things but not alot.people will say to me'remember this and i can't but i'll say yes so i'm not embarrassed about it
hi ruby!
sorry, son came in to whine a bit (he gets depressed sometimes)
I remeber too uch sometimes, even the bad and terrile tuff but overall volume
{{sue}}
Poor Sue, two whining men to deal with. Someone fix that woman a drink.
i did have a few note pads around but i don't know where any of them are now, saying that the bairn tends to take one and write or draw pictures in it.it's like i did have 100 pens around the house in different rooms with paper, now i have 1 pen in the lounge and i just bought that the other day!!
hah, put the light on so no more typos
Frank has been procrastinating taking care of his wisdom teeth for about 30 years now, but I wasn't around for most of that - now I 'm making him take care of himself
I have a pen fairy in this house :D
haha, I think I have one of those too, lilli
what's a pen fairy?
the one that hides all the pens, ruby
I don't know Ruby. Fairies usually bring things, not take them away.
aaah
L, one notebook and one pen that stay in the same place all the time.
Off limits to doodling girl child.
mmm, then i'd have to pad lock a pad and pen Molly :0
That is too bad. She is old enough to understand why those things are not for her.
I place pens all over, strategically near pièces of paper. The house may look mesy but stuff get writte down
1st de6?
I have pen amnesia - I pick up a pen and when I am done with it I stop thinking about it, just wind up putting it down anywhere, so I wind up with 15 pens in my purse and none on my desk, or vice versa
Same with my dental floss
nobody goes in my bathroom except the housekeeper!
But that's no good to me when i'm downstairs and can't get up because i'm bad, which is why i had one in every room, because i could remember something in one room and as soon as i leave it to go in4 another i forget what i was going to write down.that's why at times here i don't speak because i forget a word and get embarrassed
Same as the second de6 just change the last two letter around.

My husband is just as bad Molly, when he's home

We're fine thanks Stid.School holidays have started and i hope they go quickly lol. How's it at your end?
We have one more month of vacation left, and I am worried I won't have a job yet. BUT it is so nice to have long days with my younger son. And I loved our trip to Canada this past weekend.
I'm sure you'll get work Stid and i'm glad you've had more time with your son. where did you go in Canada?i've always wanted to go there. we have family there somewhere apparently
We went to Vancouver Island and Salt Spring again -- our dear friends flosey, jillibus, saanichcat and bugsaw (and many others) live there. Didn't get to see flosey this time, but hoping for next time.
FW'S!!
I hope you can come to our coast someday, lilliann -- I have LOTS of lovely places I could take you where we would both be able to get around.
YAY LILLIANN!!!!
I hope to see cybernan again soon, but she lives on the mainland, and it's usually an either-or proposition (and quicker to go to the islands for me).

a beautiful 19c here.i am sorry for those who are roasting;(
most of the mi7's use the prefix that means wrong or incorrect
Yes, I can see they all start with the same three letters, but for some reason I can't find 3 of them (and one mi6 too). All so close together. grumble grumble.
mi7.40 wrong prefix & "**** in China used to be a label of inferior goods
got one! only 3 left to fwks.
mi7.36 wrong prefix & **** and greet

am + personal pronoun + men's neckwear (plural)
ah.. multiple haunted houses.. thank you
yw...
Best clue for the am7 I've seen all day Ru. : D
thank penquis not me :D
:oD
Well, I wasn't really thanking anyone, just commenting on your description of am7.
evening all!
Hey 2Bit
can I have clues for si6 and no6?
oh.. I didn't read it correctly.. phone is distracting me
Hey ru.
Hi Babblers, Can anyone tell me how often the rankings are updated? I'm most interested in the "Who's Hot" rankings.I have been completing the puzzles for many days but my ranking hasn't changed - it used to , but has stopped. And no - I'm not at the maximum 1,030.
si6...si + not sun
si6 = si***** and Garfunkel singers from way back when with double vowel
no6...same first three as the no4 + person of action suffix
No, action of suffix
Hello again babbleworld
Hi Jillyjill.
ty Molly and Smd
((neil))) long time no see, how are you?
dofith, I have seen the same thing with my stats, it started with the babble update a few months ago. Decided not to even look at stats and just enjoy babbling
Hey, I'm well thanks Jilly. And you?
firewords! tx Molly & Smd & all cluers - mi7 fabricated poorly was my last
Ok - thanks for that, Jill.
Work has been busy,, but need the $$ so it's all good~
WooT WooT WooT dan2!!
I never look at stats... don't get much time for this anymore so my rating's probably plummeted.
Same here, Jilly. But it's all good. :)
Yup! We are building a new deck, new floors in 3 rooms and a new storage shed...$$$
Yeah. That will cost a lot.
I was getting so close to the maximum - quite exciting! (And yes, it's sad when one gets excited over such things!) I feel I've been cheated!
Could I get a clue for mo8/45, the first one, please?
Our deck is on the south side and gets beat to death by sun and weather, have put in two decks in 24 years, so now we are going for a composite deck $7,000 (it'g a big deck)
Oh that will be nice Jilly.
mo + latin for "that is" + men's neckwear (plural)....not my clue...someone else gave it earlier
mo8= sounds french for self+mens neck wear
Marc - first three letters french for "me"; plus vowel; plus many mens neckwear
One is reminded off our differences - here, one aims for facing north to get the winter sun. Everything on the south side is permanently gloomy!
Thanks saanichcat... new one to me.
Yeah dofith... opposite hemisphere.
it pops up a few times a year neil
Must be the other few times I'm not here. :P
And here in the west, the sun sets over the ocean which most of Oz's population don't experience.
Thanks and "bye - happy babblin g, everyone.
Niters dofith!
Thanks, got the mo8
* back.. loooong phone call*
Hey ru... again.
HI neil
haven't seen you in a month or so
Yeah, busy busy.
I've been here now and then. We don't coordinate well I guess.
I haven't been here all that much like normal
You haven't?
Like not every day?
That's unheard of! What about... dart!?
no.. i just haven't been chatting all the time.. a lot less than normal.. probably better for some people with my bad jokes and all
Dart is being a punk and won't let me catch him :D
Aww no. Hate to admit it but I'd miss your horrible puns. Jeez. What am I saying? :P
Haha.
must.take.a.break.....46 left
no more breaks jilly.. you've taken too many today
hi, babblers
hey welkster
how're things on your side of the mountains? dylan behaving himself?
Hi welki.
heigh ho
had incredibly good dinner tonight at Lincoln Ristorante (at Lincoln Center)/ feeling fat and happy
that sounds nice Doren
I had left overs .. :D
my ex sister in law.. (i call her my sister out-law)
oh.. I gotta use that one soon
been exercising like crazy lately and finally lost a few pounds.. i'm sure i'll see them on the scale tomorrow. And our annual family martha's vineyard pilgrammage begins on saturday... much eating will occur!!
what did you have, doren? going to look at the menu
a ridiculously good smoked salmon in combination with marcona almonds and baby cauliflower.. sounds nuts i know. and then pasta with veal and mushroom ragu
ohhh, it looks wonderful
they gave us chicken liver mousse crostini first.. and dessert was insane
I have lost some weight.. now trying to keep it off
don't think of going to this place to eat ru!
National Ice Cream day didn't help
I had to do my civic duty :D
crostini sounds good
salmon I could skip
the desserts sounds great - which one did you have? *living vicariously through doren's dining experience*
perfect biscotti with the excellent coffee... some ridiculously good home made candies on a platter just because.. and we split some outrageous dessert with apricots. three layers.. pistachio...
ah but this salmon... i rarely think things taste so good that I deliberately eat slowly to savor the way i did this
just googled the desserts and the one we had (which was top of the dessert menu) isn't there welki, sorry!! come to NY!
chicken liver mousse and smoked salmon i could do without....but the desert sounds yummy!
yeah chicken livers are good.. but think about all those chickens that have to give up drinking :D
i'm in for the whole meal deal :)
i was disappointed though in the waitress, who was very professional, but i had ordered a single glass... then my sister out law who doesn't usually drink, said she would, so the waitress suggested a half bottle... i had already returned the wine list. When we got the bill , we saw that this half bottle was FOUR times the cost of the single glass I had wanted. not right, is it , ru?
(were you there for the play?)
crushed pistachio on the chicken liver mousse... mmmmm!
that is a tableside Upsell.. Doren.. and yes that is not right
not play - film. i see 'much ado about nothing' is playing
no, believe it or not.. she just had always wanted to eat there, and i always do what she wants. (I, of course, had wanted to try it too). I will return in September... my cousin is taking me to the opera, I'll take him there!
write to them, dorens - you'll probably get a comp you can use next time
we went to the NY historical society museum in the afternoon. then walked down there. We enjoy chatting so much, we would talk all through a performance- we only do this once or twice a year.
whaddya think ru? should I write to them? it's not my usual style, but i just might
if he says anything but, "Hell, Yeah!" I'll bop him on the nose.
The nose! that is the opera i'm seeing in september!
I would.. you could tell them you had a wonderful meal.. but you were steamrolled into an expensive bottle of wine that you really didn't want. Your sister out law could have had a glass too and saved the $$
okay good. To whom do i address this letter?
who's got his nose? reminds me of danny kaye's collection of stories - one was, 'who's got my hairy toe?"
General Manager
saw kevin kline in much ado about nothing.. shakespeare in the park in 1988.. fantastic (of course)
ah....The Nose....seeing that in the fall, i think, via the Met's HD Live series...
Paolo Novello is the restaurant manager - Aaron Von Rock is the wine manager - contact info on their website
ok. i will do this. i'm sure they WILL at least offer me a free glass of nine, right?
at least.. let them know you're coming back because the food was so good
they might comp you the entire meal if they know their stuff
yes pen.. i'll be there sept 28th.. if that's the one they televise, look for me way up top!!
that's what I would do if I were the manager
i will!
no need to bop him on the nose :)
well you know i'll keep you posted, ru and welkil
ru, is email okay or do these things get done the old-fashioned way? i do have a stamp or two around here somewhere
*note to self.. when Doren orders wine at lunch.. don't say anything*
I'd send a hand written note
that's what I thought. i have loads of stationery from the olden days, too
he/she will be sure to read it
ru,i would never order wine without your advice if you are around!!! no babbler would, would they?
the olden days! lol - get out the quill and inkwell
emails get deleted
i would. mateus.
that depends doren.. you know your stuff
they're just so much easier to send... i could do it right now.. how likely am I to jump up now and get the stationery??
*welki is hopeless*
the effort is what will have the effect Doren
it's true, i'm hopeless. but untrue that i'd order mateus. molly reminded me about md 20/20
hey ru, Rachel has decided she likes lambruscos. I just remember them from the 60's Cella (which i did drink sometimes) and RIunite which i thought was terrible even back then
there's better ones now in the market
mad dog 20/20??? the ghetto rotgut???
I second the motion for a hand-written note. They mean more.
recommendations?
yeah, that's the one
welki likes to order pinut Nowhaaar
brb - going to celebrate national ice cream day, too
:D
good call welki
of course it WILL be a handwritten note... i'm just bitching about having to get up and find the stationery... and leave the computer.. but as soon as i get my fw, I'll do it!
I don't have any Doren.. I can do some homework
she sent me a link to a times article with recommendations, i can go with them. the only white she likes is vinho verde. which I don't... bringing up a mixed case for the week 0 always fun to pick and then see what we like
jeremy will bring some too.. he has pretty good taste as well
i'll ask my friend at K & L ..he's an expert on Italian wine
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
ok, thanks ru
and hi min
Rachel would like Dolcetto too I bet
if i tell her you recommended it, she probably will. She liked you
hey all
hi stid.. how goes it?
I just read an article about better Lambruscos coming to the USA than the normal plonk
It goes -- slowly. We are going to have a delay in the permit, so probably won't be able to get the really low interest rate we locked in at the beginning of May.
Oh well, live and learn. Next time I have a question about getting things done I will just ask and do it... and not wait for others.
Cavallotto Dolcetto d'Alba Vigna Scot? that is what my local place offers for $16
oh that is too bad stid.... interest rates were crazy low then
hi stid - another case of, talk to the manager and see if they can do something for you. exceptional circumstances sometimes warrant exceptions to the rules
are lambruscos a dessert wine? *goes to look it up*
Ruby red at the core with intense purple reflections, this Dolcetto is intense and fruity on the nose, with delicious aromas of wild berries, cherries, red apple, and a slight bitter almond note. Dry and full-bodied on the palate, the Vigna Scot is warm and soft in the mouth, delightfully well balanced. ---sounds like a winner
welki is so wise this evening
am doing now, welki, but the circumstances we face really don't matter much to overworked, understaffed (underpaid) people... I am sure they will all do their best, but since the fault we aren't farther along is partly our own, we will just have to deal with it.
hi all!
nah - welki is so cheap :)
our contractor is going to try to work his diplomacy tomorrow, but I am not getting my hopes up.
Hello stidmama! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
hey min :-D
take your business to another bank - that'll get their attention
Hello uusue2! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog.
hi sue.
hi min! I am good. How are you?
hi min, sue
hey sue
HI doren and stid and welki too!
it's not the bank that is the issue, welki -- they are WONDERFUL (and the reason we are not even farther behind) -- it's the county, and that is really not something I can change...
just sayin' - banks have more flexibility with interest rates than they'd let you believe
oh, right. :-D once the contract runs out we might have that option. I'll consider it if we need to.
I am well, but summer school is exhausting. It is over soon.
that's good, min, do you get a break then before the fall?
fireworks!
yay doren!
Yay Doren!
good night all. i' m going to write letter to Paolo Novello
night doren!
Congratulations Dorens on your fireworks! Hooray for you!
sweet dreams doren
'night dorens - knock 'em dead :)
I have the first few weeks in August to relax, then I start to go to workshops for my job.Still don't know where I will be
Goodbye Dorens! I'll see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
I hope you find out soon, Min. Hard to plan and be ready when things are up in the air.
It is too bad that my district does not realize this stidmama
Hello again, time to finish this! Hello minv, welki and stddy

peeking in... still 60 to go here, hoping to scoop up a few hints on the way :)

yay stid!
nice to finish, I have been coming in too late while I was traveling. Good to be home, will be reluctant to leave again so soon.
Yay stid!
At least Grant is now old enough to man the fort by himself now!
it's nice when they finally get to that point, isn't it, stid?
wow, it really is!
And yet... it also makes me really superfluous most of the time. I am going to need to find a new name, stid"mama" will still be true, but less reflective of my day-to-day realities!
congrats stid
Fireworks!
thanks for the clues, everyone!
congrat abe
yay abe!
going to sleep! goodnight all!
Stiddy!!!
And hello to all the other players tonight ;)
hi firefly!
How are you doing, firefly?
Can't complain too loudly sue ;)
good - I know you were having a pretty hard time there for a while
hey firefly! bye abe, thanks for the help
Still working out the kinks a little - all the updates are in my profile - but I think I'm on the upside now :)
sorry all, watching "America's test kitchen" and it got me researching kitchen gadgets.
Oh stid, just read your profile...
such good news in your profile, firefly. *very happy mama look*
((firefly))) we're all alive, and that is the most important thing
Thank you ;)
it's melting my brain here... I might just drown the computer if I don't find something to cool me down.
So true but I'm so sorry for the losses you still incurred.
thanks firefly, we are pretty grumpy about it a lot of the time, but despite it really there are only a few (1-5%) of the things that we will actually miss. The worst part is the hassle of rebuilding.
and my Lucky. That's actually worse than the rebuilding. Which is pretty annoying.
On the bright side, I finished the grid. Need any clues
I can totally understand the grumpiness and the hassle.
Matthew just got here! Firefly, I know you are enjoying your little ones, but it is SO NICE when the kids are adults and can get themselves to and from on their own. :-) Except he needs us to drive him and his laundry back to the house he is renting this summer...
Lol stid! I'm glad you are enjoying a new chapter of motherhood,;)
I'm not really doing the grid, just came to say hello
me too -- next chapter will include helping my kids get through parenting (but not soon, I hope!)
I am glad you came in tonight.
Me too
I haven't done it yet, firefly, but by tomorrow evening I hope to have a few pictures up from my trip this last weekend with Mother -- we saw three babblers in B.C. (Jillibus, saanichcat and bugsaw)
I love jilli!
she's wonderful, isn't she? She lets us crash in her guest room, which looks out onto her entry garden and everything is so peaceful and nice and relaxing.
Glad you could do a trip! When did you lose your house might I ask? I obviously haven't been here in ages.
Oh wow, what a doll.
March 18, firefly. It was/is pretty devastating.
Just in case it helps you, take a video or photographic inventory (soon!) of every single wall and piece of furniture in your home.
Gasp! My oldest's birthday :(
The one thing that completely vaporized is the one thing I cannot find in ANY of the photos I have access to right now.
I've heard that device, and actually started once but never finished. I will revisit the idea.
Advice, not device
Darn autocorrect
It was a lovely, warm, sunny day here, firefly and I was so looking forward to the rest of that week. Lesson: DO stop and make sure those you love know it. Frequently. Daily. Often. Every chance you get. Grant could have died, he arrived home just after the living room window blew out, and he and the neighbor put out the fire. Smoke damage got to nearly everything. We salvaged only the most important things, which are now in storage after being cleaned in Tacoma.
oh. and save your inventory to the cloud/web or keep it off site somewhere. :-)
I am so grateful he wasn't killed when he went into the house.
Oh stid, heartbreaking. What was the cause?
I'm sure!
((((stid)))) it's going to be hard for quite a while, I think, so sorry that this happened!
right now we think it was my heating pad, firefly. The fire started right next to my chair, where the heating pad was on the floor. We think the "auto-off" switch shorted out at some point. I know it was off in the morning when I left because I actually took the time to be sure. But it was plugged in. I will NEVER have an electric blanket or heating pad again.
But the official report isn't done yet.
The smoke was so toxic, I don't think the critters were even discomfited by the heat later on. It melted some of the light fixtures a couple rooms away. It was an impressive mess.
Oh horror - such a shame! I do hope insurance is helping out.
Oh. And the other thing: spiderwebs survive fire and collect smoke. The walls and ceiling were all festooned with black (think Addams family) tendrils!
well, I am off for the night, poor Frank has to have a wisdom tooth out tomorrow and he is dreading it
Night sue, sorry for Frank!
Insurance is very good -- we have exhausted the "paying additional living expenses" piece but we were able to pay off the original mortgage and are still awaiting the payment for contents.
Strange about the webs...
sweet dreams sue, and love to Frank. I hope it goes much easier than he anticipates.
I thought so, firefly -- if it had happened in October we would have been set for trick or treaters! *wicked mama grin*
Glad the insurance is working - it's exponentially harder when it isn't.
so true -- I wish your health coverage was as good as our home insurance.
Aha, the humor and wonder amidst the devastation - a good sign of healing!
I wish that too, oh how I do.
Is there any word or progress from the lawyer? I know these things are often very slow.
<eavesdropping>
We just got a mailing that he and the insurance lawyer are getting a deposition from my Seattle doc in mid August, so settlement seems off the table and perhaps court back on. Who knows though.
Hi TraderKate, nice to meet you
good. I hope there will be progress.
hey kate!
hi ff :) read your profile, i wish you well and many more years of happy babbling.. i wont interrupt your caht with stiddie...
hi stiddie :) please carry on...
firefly, if my in-laws are over there later this year, where they actually own a place... and IF I can convince Tom to take a long weekend with me, would you like to meet up (on neutral ground)?
No such thing as interrupting, thanks for our consideration though!
kate, interrupt away! firefly is "peeps" like us!
I know you don't like to put your family in harm's way -- I was the same when my boys were little.
i tlooks like you two have a lot of catching up to do. i'm still lurking trying to finish, but getting very tired
I promise to consider your offer ;)
and fair warning, I made a friend's kid cry earlier this summer when a "stern mama look" happened! LOL
can clue, kate!
Lol stid!
:-D
thnaks stiddie, still going through lickety.. maybe in a bit? if you 're still here?
if I am still here, have to take matthew home soon I think
I employ the stern mama look all the time - perhaps said child was not used to the look
kids cry too easily these days i htink... i have a look too -and it does stop people intheir tracks.. but once hte kids ( especially) know you, they learn to stop-look-and listen when the look is thrown... ;)
hi all, just zoomin' thru before i conk out for the day
I've caught many a child's eye with my look, strangers to me at stores and whathaveyou, and been successful at quietly chastising them
yes, I think it was just unexpected.
Hiya Gwen

sweet dreams gwen!
Nothing but finally, a lot of rain!
okay, time for me to take Matthew back to his place. They grow up, and eventually move away, but laundry is a powerful "draw" LOL
bye stiddie :)
I hope not too much rain, hoot? we could use a bit here, but nothing on the horizon
Well I'm glad I caught you this time!
**choclits and hugs for all** *poof*
No -it's been very dry and I've had to water the hydrangas to keep them from wilting in the sun!

If you asked I would say no but change the middle cons
