yeah i know....and then you have to be ready for the child to decide, and then change his mind. initially my 3 never wanted to see their father again, but by the time they were 12-13 they would want to see him. i guess by that stage, they had become too big for him to bully them, and they felt more safe and confidant.
I hope him and his mom can one day unite but I think it should be as you say on his terms

macs are fine machines.only problem is that they are not user friendly for upkeep.they are of a single unit most of them better known as all-in-ones with everything built into the screen. with my "ibm" set up i can swap out a fan,hard drive,video card,power suppy ram etc in 5 minutes.if the video card blows in a mac,you have to send the entire thing away.that is my problem with macs

oh that,i do not let it do that.when i do a clean istall,i let it update once after i install then set the updates to manual

I think of mac as the rolls royce of computers, steady, reliable, luxury, will alway start in the rain, windows work, ashtrays in convenient places, etc., etc., etc. but it will never be the fastest, tallest, biggest, smallest, etc. ibms are everything else, nascar, formula 1, monster truck, 4x4, mini racer, dune buggy, vw bug, and on and on. More likely to break down but a few are more reliable, most are slower, but some are much faster, most have clunky styling but some are dead cool, etc, etc.

never had much use for swapping vid cards, to get a sizable boost I alway had to swap the motherboard too, as a new bus system was the main component to the next gen vid. at that point made more sense to get a new box.
yes,more and more if you ump up the gpu,you must either bump up the mobo or cpu chip and that defeats it all because now you are into the price of a new build.what you can get is a unlockable high end cpu chip and when the time comes you can use powerstrip program and the like to get more grunt
you sound like me 10 years ago, Once they started to do all I wanted of them my interest in squeezing every flop i could from a machine faded. For me the only thing lagging on comps now is internet speed. Once you can download a movie in under a minuet I'll be a happy man. vid speed long ago outpaced my reaction time, got almost every comic ever published and every song I like on my raid machine.
most exciting thing about computers for me now is not the physical machine, but where the internet is going, keep rooting for the powers that be to continue to fail to control it.

Don't worry. Now that she's in my house; if she acts up again, she will be committed (the 1st visit from the cops was a warning; next one will be for real. And I knew that when I called)

Cos, I have a friend with rapid cycling bi-polar disorder. And he says the same thing about the meds sucking.
at first i couldnt move because i was always so tired. i had to lie down all the time....my body wasnt used to it.. took me 2-3 weeks to get immune to side effects.
I always think its so unfair. If you break your leg, you can point to it and say 'Ouch'. With a mental issue, you can't point. :-(
that is good to know, cos. I know that that was one of her complaints. My close nurse friend recently told me that another RN we worked with for years was bi-polar; but I'd never known that before.

I have a DIL with the same disorder Nef and it is hard on the kids the most. As much as it will be hard on you to help her monitor and maintain, you will be providing your grandchild with the stability he needs to grow up healthy. My mother had it, was never medicated and we suffered, all in our own ways. Hats off (and prayers) to you. ((Nef))

Patty Duke is an actress who railed against the diagnosis for years but she ultimately wrote a book about her experiences and what it took for her to catch on to meds being a good thing. I wonder if you can find it for inspiration?
