OK, so I have the 1st and the last of the es words and the third letter is the same! time to monkey around!
it seems internet is a capital noun.
ahhh...a "place". :-)
aha!
the en9 is a butcher term, french
tx josh!

i agree, when you see that anywhere near a menu, you're in good shape IMO

hi ruru
hi jilli
found your new house yet, ruru?
no.. gotta sell this one and the ranch first
ranch?
we have a property in Calistoga too
ruru is an eccentric salad dressing collector, jilli. it's his darkest secret
lol josh!
he has enough ranch dressing to buy himself a thousand islands in the south pacific
*whimpers*
How far is Calistoga from where you are, ruru?
15 minutes
it's 13 acres jilli
nice! What grows on the ranch?
right now.. scrub brush
how useful
it has a large pond and a cottage and is plantable for wine growing
sounds lovely!
it really is a pretty place
we have lots of wild life on the property.. it's up in the hills
why are you selling?
time for change
:-(
over halfway
i'm halfway to bed
and what do you want to change to?
a werewolf
silly
i've staved off the dishes for too long now.. night for today.. have a nice rest of your evening jilli
I'm heading bedwards too -- dishes done. Well, in the machine.
g'night guys

*unlurk* nite, josh and jilli and ru! :)
i am still a few dozen from leaving, unfortunately. as much as i like you guys
oh, sorry, thought your g'night was a going-out one, not one for others poofing. Not trying to hurry you along. ;)
i need all the hurrying i can muster. sleep awaits, and a busy wednesday
planning to roll out a bit earlier than usual in the AM myself, have a storm door that's been on order, finally in for pickup. our builder-fellow is coming tomorrow afternoon to put it on.
will be nice, it has a screen in it, and we'll finally be able to let in a breeze from that side of the new living room. no other windows on that wall.
it's surprising how useful those prove to be
need to get the rest of the ceiling boards, too, and also the flooring. my little truck will be squatting, haha!
i'm sure your truck will be purring knowing it is for once being used to its full potential
I've sure been putting it through it lately, lots of building materials. I go get them in my little truck, then we stash them in Hubby's full-sized truck with the camper shell so they stay dry. they hang out the back of mine. :P
his truck's a '71 Chevy, hard to drive, no power anything.
nice. my dad had a 73 ford throughout my childhood
i will be back a bit later, laundry beckons
later! :)
morning all
good morning sprite
hi flosey :)
how's hubby
hubby is doing very good. no pain and good mobility.

hiya rose :)
hi rose, how's the little guy
any news on braxton?
{{sprite}} did you try out our lttle test?
we did! I wrote you an email. He lied down on the floor and got up without any help.
haven't heard anything, flosey. was going to wait until later, when son will have time to talk.
pfft, sprite. well that blows our plans to bits, hun
totally. Have to let him go now.
Hi there, Rose, sprite, rbud and flosey. Hope I didn't miss anyone.
hi Peach
hiya peach :)
you know, with all the weird comparatives and superlatives that are valid in Enable, I wonder why being more satisfied isn't. (co7er)
of course I don't wonder about in5net not being valid... that one we have wondered about before.
thanks for the 8 and 9 clued about 10 mins ago, i got called away before i could thank you
yw Jenny
that is still the only 8 I have
in7/8 is another one.
thaks sprite, looking

missing quite a few r words
looking for that 8
this one is comes into a room again
thanks sprite
yvw
do you have sy7?
no, thanks for telling me it is there though :)
my only missing S
Sorry, flosey, I don't have it yet.
it is a latin plural. It means a multiple fruit like the fig.
thanks, looking
let me know if you want more of a clue
apologies my friends, but have been distracted by DH in the nicest possible way. and now we are on our way out for dinner. will email you when i have further news of HRH Braxton.
thanks rose, have a lovely dinner
*grins* You gooooo, girrrrrl! Have a good one. And I will be checking my email regularly.
xoxoxox to you both
and to you, dear rose
*hugs*
I looked at her profile the other night.....she is a very pretty lady. I wish my hair looked like hers.
too true! Very lovely lady. And a beautiful grandson.
Yes, he is a doll.
Going after tea....brb
Sprite, are you anywhere near Dinxperlo (not sure of spelling)
not really... that is in Gelderland and I am in the North of Holland. But the netherlands aren't big, so it is relative.
are you going there?
no, had 2 friends from there, one married my girlfriend, I dated one briefly but we were just not a match
and that was many years ago, have been married for 52 years
aw too bad :( It is at the other side of the netherlands, roughly. I am near the coast and Dinxperlo is at the border with Germany
errrr I meant too bad you weren't living in the Netherlands... not that you have been happily marrried for 52 years :D
lol, yes, very
so lovely to hear. Rob and I are planning on emulating you guys :)
well, sure hope you do, sprite
it can be very comforting, as we are getting older, to have each other to sympathize with when aches and pains start to get to you
I can imagine :) We had an early start with that, me with my handicaps and Rob recently with his back ;)
he still does far too much gardening, but it is what he enjoys - retired to become an organic farmer
oh that is awesome, I didn't know that. Taxing on the back, but how rewarding.
yes, and legs, he's often kneeling down
I hope he is being as wise as he can about it
blackberries are just starting to come in, we pick and freeze, then take them to a you brew type of place and they make blackberry port which turns out quite lovely, many friends have enjoyed it
blackberries grow wild all over the island, and we have just let them grow wild on part of the property, so manage to get quite a few bottles of port to share with friends
sounds delicious. I have this very small veggie garden. Still am discovering how to do things. We have some potatoes this year, and we will have onions and garlic. Carrots too, I think, beets, and several kinds of beans.
sounds like quite a size, sprite, good for you
and maybe pumpkins. Huge plants already and I have seen at least one flower.
there's nothing that compares with fresh picked, (or dug) vegetables
so very true. The taste is totally different. We had strawberries this year. They were SO good.
do you have Fava beans? (broad beans)
let me check
yes, we do. I don't like them myself but Rob and Caya love them.
they were new to me when we married, I'd never heard of them, I love them
21 to go, think I must get to bed, eyelids are getting heavy
goodnight Sprite, happy gardening - and babbling of course
bb in the morninig
night flosey *hugs*
Sweet dreams, flosey.
fireflies. Quite a fun grid. Anything I can help with before I go?
Congrats, sprite!!!!!
thank you :D Do you need any clues?
No, but thanks. I have 33 left and I think I will come back later today. Great "talking" with you, sprit. Have a fun day.
and vice versa. Have a lovely evening and day, peach. Bye all !
sprite -even
almost got to half this AM
Hi Ruby
hi hi no no
just passed half, but still not nbt or nbs
how are you? Is it hot there?
Ijust looked at your profile; are you near Binghamton?
am good thanks, it has cooled down some now, been in the upper 70's last few days
about 90 miles west of Binghamton
Corning or elmira
Near Corning
can I help you with nbt?
I lived in Binghamton for many years and Corning was a big outing for us
Corning is currently competing for most fun small town in America
stuck on 2nd bottom and 3rd column middle e's
that's very funny
Binghamton was NOT a fun town
en6/18 the main course of a meal
I always miss the French words lol
your right I found Binghamton to be very boring, I had cousins that lived there
it was a pretty place to live and bring up my son, but it was pretty deadly
the center e I think is the person who goes in
and plural too
*Bonks Ruby with a stale baguette for missing the French words* : D
ty, no no, nbt!
good job
Ruby is hanging on by her fingernails
Why hanging on by your fingernails?
hi Molly
tried to make an appt wit dh's Md, but not luck to far
so far*
It's really frustrating when you need a doctor and they are unavailable. Makes you feel helpless.
ya think ? lol
Do you think your husband is bad enough for emergency care?
no
and because of the language differece, nobody would really believe me
They would see me as some crazy American
that is REALY frustrating
I don't know how you do it, Ruby. I wouldn't be able to cope living somewhere that communication and my nationality always got in the way. Especially when it came to medical care.
I can't blame anybody but myself. This is really where I wanted to live and DH is way beyond fixing
You had no way of anticipating these events in your life.
yes, but I should have been more foresighted. Men at 60 are attractive, sometimes rich , etc. I never thought of the age difference then
Yeah, well, hindsight...blah, blah, blah. You are making the best of where you are now.
It was all very romantic so years ago
20*
♥
at least the house is mine, the garden is beautiful and the pups are a great comfort. PLUS, I have my friends in here who, trust me on this, provide great deal of comfort
And you have not lost your spark of fun and joy.
And I have a life full of wonderful memories and very few regrets
It is so very hard to be a caretaker for a loved one, Ruby. I've been there and I know it's not easy even without a language barrier
I wish I had the compassionbuilt into me to help him with this difficult transition, but I am not kind enough to him
Ruby you are doing the best you can, don't be down on yourself
I am tryig to get him to write down his memories, both to help him remember and to keep himfrom telling me the same old stories for the 1000th time
My most treasured possession is my father's autobiography. He wrote it in the years before he got unwell
what a wonderful thing to have, bichon!
I am currently entering it on the Web so it will exist for all the generations to read
Unfortunately, Burt realizes that his children won't be interested
Are there grand children, They would be interested someday I would think
Everyone who knew my Dad adored him
he has 5 grandchildren, none ofwhom he cares about or is in contact with, plus 2, going on 3 great grandchildren, ditto
that is so sad!
My father's grandchildren were a constant delight for him. too bad he didn't live to meet his great grandchildren
I keep his relation alive with one of his daughters, but can't do more than that
Ruby, it is hard to be kind to someone who is often unkind to you.
I send her a ticket once or twice a year but now he says he doesn't want her for his birthday in Sept
would he be very angry if she came anyway?
he's given me this house, so I can ignore a lot. And now, in his diminished state, he gets nasty much less often
I am still thinking about that, no no. I think I'll send her a ticket anyway
Do it for you, Ruby. You see to thrive when company is there.
*semm

hi ols
*owl

What did Owl do last night?
i am reaading a very intersting boook of short stories. must ask kje, written by a dr in SF
oops - sure, reading *lol* (though you'd gone dancing last night)
no, monday.
going festing on friday
when do you need those boots?
there is a passover food in the grid today
Matzoh? Gefilte Fish?
sort of - the walnut/apple stuff?
welk, what are you thinkng? i am g oing out shortly to try some on .
that, if you find some that you like, i can check prices here, check how much shipping would cost - to see if it would be cheaper to order them here (the dollar's in your favor)
that said, each pair is a little different - you might want to purchase a pair you can actually try on before you buy
oh, i appreciate that but it would be too too much. i though the currency advatage was yours
well, let me know if you want me to check
i will keep that in mind as i search. if i find a pair i really fall iin love with i will let you know.
boots boots boots
i cannot spell the apple/walnut word. Help?
right now the best heal i saw was about $160 on ebay.
they're made for walkin' ...
bich, it's not a babble word today
okay, was majorly confused
gee that upper left S is hard
http://tinyurl.com/mr65ydu
actually these are the ones i found a deal on http://tinyurl.com/mr65ydu
they're nice - here, check out one of the boot stores here and compare prices http://tinyurl.com/mhgoe47
but i just ran straight through the c's
it's the same url, owl
the winged heart boots, or the pink cross? i just crashed ie trying to get it
i see the pink cross boots
pink is pretty - but you might consider that they may not match all your dancing clothes. could always get another pair down the line :)
found these for about 150 on ebay http://tinyurl.com/lwfn6lz
i think neutral is better with my short legs :)
Happy Wednesday, Babble buds!
ohhh, i can give you a recommendation on them! my friend has a pair and loves them!
hi judi
2nd row grey!
hi hurshy, judi, welki, TO

Leaving on a jet plane this afternoon for CA to visit grands

she may have meant the picture sending was done.
oh BOTH
Any clue for the nine please?
i think so... and i am g oing to run now, happy babbling
i love red boots, too - my youngest had a pair when she was really small, called them her 'cherry boots'
bye Owl, good luck with the boots
yes, xeiluj -- very french - sounds like come in, pigeon house
thanks, welki, I couldn't figure out the spelling on that one
Dammit. I hate having to think in French this early in the day.
going to shop now in new hope for some
Brilliant, thank you
Are you talking about cowboy boots, TO?
great clue, welk. yes judi, and i would accept lightly used ones.
excellent clue
my friend found a shop that gets them regularly from a consignor, but we are the same size.
thanks
Hmm. Tough to come by - up here north of the Mason-Dixon. Try Craigslist or Etsy unless you need them right away.
kje! was going to fb you about a book i am reading
there are several places in bucks county - our at least - that sell them new
There's a really nice consignment shop just across the bridge in Lambertville NJ. Try there too.
btw, if that's your thing, owl, you might like 'the immortal life of henrietta lacks'
(and then you can stop and visit nrkii!)
green strret? they are very busness oreinted and very seasonal, won't take them until fall/winter. welk, that is a great book
nrkii is going to fest with me if she can, we have been trying this for a couple of years but new job commmute kills her
these r's are makin' me dizzy
kje, reading "A history o the present illness" by Dr. Loiuse Aaronson
great! she is a good writer!
do you know her?
yes
although it did dredge up some recent end of life decisions, a little painful.
well, I guess that means she is an effective writer? sorry that it was painful
no, i just think some things will always be raw for certain people.
true
just finished "Behind the Kitchen Door" . a bit melodrmatic but makes its point
i think the tipped wage needs to go.
Strange that "internet" is not accepted. I don't think it's a brand name, is it?
no, not a brand
maybe enable is too old
its enable. it needs to come nto the 21st century
guess it's just too new still - enable isn't caught up
it does not do "chai" either
Enable SUCKS. But, we say that every day.
or lots of cooking things that i see on the food network

hello everybody
{{crossy}}
hi
Do you get disc peaches in the US or Canada?
the nine is a cut of steak....made from two french words...
I've only discovered them and white peaches since we've beend here but they are wonderful! I just made more jam.
never heard of disc peaches
ty penquis, I would never have seen that
Me either, so I guess we don't get them.
What about white ones?
we get white peaches...
We had a sanguine peach tree the first couple of years but it was small and gave up the ghost after it gave me about 200 peaches in one year
love fresh peaches...hard to get here...
((ruby))
the season is very short
{{crossy}}
and so am I!
never heard of "disc" peaches but we have some lovely ontario clingstone peaches
yellow or white?
I got some fresh picked blackberries this weekend that were so good, it was a religious experience eating them.
yellow
mine aren't ripe yet and I totally missed the raspberries
super fresh local fruit is a blessing
This was such a strange spring that I don't think there'll be any plums
love blackberries, too.....esp. blackberry pie!
i have not tasted a good plum since i was 13 and we had a tree of them in our back yard
I dream of having a greenhouse so I can grow fresh all year long.
and I give away all the apples and black currants (I let Neighbors pick them)
I always make some BlackBerry Jelly and tried BlackBerry liqueur but it was icky
No apple pies or apple butter?
i would KILL for some home made gooseberry jam!
That's a lovely dream, Molly, and you could have cut flowers, too
mmm,apple butter
Oh, there would be flowers, lots of flowers.
We don't use any sprays and I'm afraid of worms in the apples
well,if you see no bore holes, you are safe, ruby
we no longer spray our trees here
Is that a promise?
i promise
what us worse than a worm in your apple? half a worm
Otherwise, you might get a (dreaded) worm in the mail (or worse, half a worm)
sailors of old used to eat any apple bugs, was just as good for preventing scurvey
snap, o-o
do not need all those chemicals anyways, ruby.will stunt yer growth
That's like the line from Master and Commander: which weevil would you like? The lesser of two weevils?"
I used to pick up "drops" from the plum trees until I discovered that they mostly had worms
i am down to 20....
one of my favorite babblets is in here: te6 and 7
One of the great things I learned in here
the first, second or third te 6/7 words?
or fourth?
3rd that I have, lol
i don't have the third set....
number + room for pleasure and pl
tenharem
Damn
ty....never heard of those...
very funny, Molly, but whose?
Whose pleasure? Whoever's harem it is. You stock it with what you want : D
hmmm, have to think about that
I guess I wouldn't care as long as its résidents could cook
Résidents, they must be French. : D
My computer adds accents to any words that are in both languages, even though I have it set for English
resident
hah, I just found the setting and fixed it!
Trés bien
It's funny, every year, after the Tour de France, I speak French much faster. It's like going to summer school
Ah oui
mes cousins de Monreal arrivent aujourdui....not sure if i spelled that right, lol....
Can you understand their French?
Years ago, when I went to Quebec, the people could understand me but I couldn't understand a word
yes...i have no problem understanding....speaking is a little rough....
i had french in school from 1st grade through 10th grades...
and my parents spoke it at home....spoke french before english, actually....
I had French from 7th grade on, but couldn't speak much until years later
So you are hard-wired!
i remember taking college board exams in french and having time to read it over three times...
yes, hard wired, at least receptively....
it's weird...sometimes i think of a french word for something before the english word....usually that's when the french word captures my meaning better...
I think the breakthrough for speaking Fr for me came when I realized how appreciative the people here were and that mistakes didn't matter.
that's very true....i have found that in canada as well as Europe...
And I had a wonderful housekeeper who used to correct my errorsm after, rather than by interrupting me
My husband, on the other hand, had years of private French lessons with a teacher who would interrupt. He never learned to speak it, or maybe was too much of a perfectionist to allow himself to make errors
very nice...
my cousins never interrupt....
Sometimes I dream in French
and, often, wake up laughing without remembering anything
heh heh...
can i get a clue for the last re 7/28 please?
my 2nd one, probably not the last, is people who don't buy
hmmm.....i have that one....it's the one after that (7/28) that i don't have....
Hello babbleworld!! Hi penquis and ruby
hi...
I still have 49 words left, so am probably useless for that
{{jilly}}
Nurse Jill, thank you SO MUCH for the suggestion of asking for a butterfly needle. I had blood drawn today and it didn't hurt a bit. : D
What's a butterfly needle?
Yay! Glad to hear it. It's good information for anyone so that they are making a conscious choice.
cool...
The nurse who drew my blood said she asks for them all the time. : )
What is it?
It's a smaller needle that is more comfortable than using a regular syringe. Requires a little practice to use well, but patients really like it.
I'm having blood drawn tomorrow morning (chez moi) and will see if it translates. The visiting nurse is a real roughneck
And wish I could have availed myself last week, had a brand new phlebotomist...everyone thinks I'll be good about being a practice patient..sheesh!
This needle has two little wings on it; really does look like a butterfly...
I haven't had a blood test in a couple of years
49 left and I give up so good night everybody
Niters ruby! Take care... sweet sleeps!

glad you are enjoying it--Have you let your wife behind the wheels?
my wife cannot drive:)
she does however co-pilot very well;))
its not too late for you to teach her
giggle
she is legally blind.no ammount of teaching will help.so it is all crossy's
ahh thats too bad.Well I bet she likes the wind blowing in her face then. I take care of an elderly man thats legally blind.
she loves the high perch it offers her.she still has some vision 20/400 and can still enjoy the nature drives, just not enough to do a driver test
and what she cannot see,i describe to her in vivid detail so she can see it wither her minds eye
with her
well in that case Iam sure you dont mind being the driver for her--thats very nice you are so good to her like that
she is good to me as well:)
thats really nice--sounds like you two are soulmates
after 22 year,we better be
lol thats for sure
like i always say,she is the rock i lean on when i am weary and i am her staff to uphold her when she falters
thats nice you two think like that--relationships like that are getting rarer and rarer these days
May i have a clue for the sy7 please?...And hello, All :-)

I've had problems with lickety expert for 3 days Mo.i log in and it says Dr God is playing up.i've refreshed and logged out again and turned off the computor an but nowt working, so i have to open a seperate window for babble.it's a pain in the arse as everytime i put a word in teh list ,babble disappears and hi all and i'm not really flurking Molly as i've just started :)

It is do to with a slice of beef Matches
Hi Mcurl
*switch the last 2 letters of the en5 which is to come in
<---Never seen the en9 in reference to beef. You all must shop at higher end butchers than I do.
That's the meaning apparently Molly
Actually it is steak cut between the ribs
No, i just go to our supermarkets and buy the cheapest meat i can :)
ty for the beef word.
All for now. Way too many words for me but happy to try for a few.

Hi Sue,Yvw. How are you and Frank doing? Was he ok after his tooth?
we are ok, he is still complaining about the tooth, it's been almost a week now
mmm, perhaps he should see his dentist Sue.
I am wondering about that myself, I think if it is still bothering him tomorrow we should give them a call
It shouldn't be hurting now, since it was removed, perhaps there is still some roots left?
*are
dunno, hard to tell without an x-ray, I think
I seem to remember my wisdom teeth hurt for a couple of weeks after I had them out but they were huge and impacted, and I got an infection
The bairn went to a dental hospital the other day for a check up after her accident and she had caps put on her broken teeth a few months ago and one of hers are still giving her jip, as is gets sentitive, so filled in a gap and said if it is still sensitive the next time she goes they'll have to redo the whole tooth...teeth are funny things!
That's terrible Sue.i had an infection in one of mine and the otherone was just removed, but then i saw a dentist i needed to have valium to see in the first place.....
they are indeed! I had a root canal several years ago which stayed VERY sensitive for quite a while; eventually it just calmed down and now it's fine, but it was at least a couple of weeks, I think
ah well - I'm sure it will be fine eventually. But now I must run off to a meeting, bbl!
You should call Sue. He shouldn't be having pain a week after an extraction.
i still have 2 baby teeth, but i think they might come out soon, hopefully not as i'll have 2 gaps in the front top
Too late. Boy she popped in and out fast.
It could be do do with all the treatment he's had
Oh aye, so she has Molly :)
An in and an outer :D
hello again...weeds are winning...I'm babbling..
Hi Jill, weeds always win...
true dat!

Hi Book
toast this year's winner's while you are there.
hello bookwoman
hello everyone
didn't you hear, this is international one babble error free day!!
An actual keyboard! I've been using ipad and iphone keyboards for the last four days.
babble plays rather nicely on my android tablet.only issue is the tablet screen keyboard vanishes after each entry.my tablet does have a keyboard battery docking station however if i need to get serious about it:)
Is it Jill, that's cushty, but i'd prefer to be in the Pb having a party :)
or i can use a voice to type program and just speak the words to babble;))
I haven't played in four days.
:((
And I haven't been online in four days.
that is not healthy,bzz
Hi Bzzn. i have a tablet but never played it on there yet.i prefer a proper keyboard like you
if babble is off for 2 days,i get scratchy
I've never tried it on my ipad. I like the full screen on my computer.
when I play on my tablet the whole screen does not show up so I can't see the chat and the board at the same time.
Then i won't play it on mine either book as it will drive me potty not being able to see everything
i have a new tablet being shipped as we speak:)) should be here tomorrow.the asus transformer infinity tablet:)))
It sounds posh Crossy, it'll probably do more than i know how to handle
http://eee.asus.com/en/transformer-inf\ninity/features
Crossy, i see you got a new car and have had loads of fun with it, so you got your money you were expecting, but are you still coming over this year?
I prefer my computer too but it is nice to play on the road.
sorry.. http://tinyurl.com/ajr88od
Heading out to fix dinner...bbl hagn all (((hugs)))
we got the money, but it came too late for all the travel papers i needed to send away for, lillian
good night
one paper/doccument will take 6 months
3-6*
and i needed to be travelling by no later than early august for the trip to gel
i did have a 10" tablet but the bairn jumped on it, not knowing that i had it under my bed covers so she couldn't use it and she broke the glass so it didn't work properly, so i bought myself a 6" one and love it as it is alot easier for me to hold
they uk rail sail tickets only run till end of sept
Night Jill, tc :)
Well, it will be better for you now as you have longer to book for next year if you're coming and you'll be able to look around and get cheaper tickets
indeed,lillian
the lawyers took a full 8 months to do their work:((
and 4200 dollars;((
mmm, well, either they were going slow to get the money or it took them longer to sort everything out.I know when we had lawyers to do with a family situation, it took longer because courts were involved,
Lawyers can charge a fortune just to send a letter!!
I don't know your situation...but we still had to go to court even though a family member had left everything written in a will and left with a solicitor but it had to do with property so that is different
How is baby girl doing Bea?
Molly?
*Looks around to see if there is another Molly about*
Remy is doing wondefully.
I'm home now and missing them terribly.
Glad to hear she is doing well.
wvwning all
hah evening
ooohhh new pic! look at that beautiful grown-up girl! :-)
yes I blinked and she's 3!
starting pre-school in like 6 weeks
wow!
crap.. I blinked and I'm 59..
:-D
try to keep your eyes open ruru :-)
That blinking...it's a bitch.
yeah.. I needed the ruby slippers too..
Hi Dan and Une:)Aye it definitely goes quick so make the most of it Dan ,she'll soon have attitude:)
I didn't even blink and I'm 5?
hey lilliann :-)
oh, too late for that, lillian :)
(that's because Lillian's daughter has attitude)
right now, she's easily distracted, and still eager enough to please most of the time that attitude doesn't last. But she has it
I was going to say, she might well have it now too Dan, but it get's alot worse as they grow up!!
*DanteenageHellBit* in the future :D
was soooo glad when we got past the "whatEVer" phase
So do alot of my friends' daughters' and son's Ru.Apparently now at there age it is worse than when we were that age!
I defintely now understand why some grandparents gleefully await the opportunity to watch their children raise children :-)
,,,, lol LILLIAN. .. I wasn't an easy teenager either
at least with my parents.
My mam laughs at me now and says what come arounf goes around but she does say that my bairn is alot worse than i was
no need to shout my name Ru, it rteminds me of my mam saying my name fully when i was getting told off..lol
The problem is that children get away with alot more now, especially at school because it's all to pc
Kids get away with a lot of crap at home, too.
I totally agree Molly, but both need to work together
I love internet articles that say "8068 is the safest PIN number". I imagine thousands of people calling their banks, changing their PIN to 8068 and the hackers cackling with glee.
Une, i'm hoping i get through the 'Whatever' stage soon! I like the look of Lucy, i hope she get's rehomed soon:0
Une, is that an old icon as i can see Lucy when i click as i wanted to see the writing on your icon here, but obviously it's different, so which one is your actual icon now?
if parents would quit trying to be friends with their kids and try parenting...well, gee imagine what would happen!!
seconded, lbd! :-)
I quite agree LBD. i don't try to be a friend but a parent and my bairn can still have attitude. she get's no computor time, mobile taken away, not allowed to play out and has to do more jobs around the house. If you have some more suggestions that would help Lbd, i'd gladly hear them:) Parenting is tough
Amen LBD, motion carried.
And how does anyone have time to parent? They have their kids schedules so filled up with tap, jazz, soccer, karate, etc. that there is no family time anymore.
It's not just about the parents now, the bairns see that everything has changed because the worldd has become too p.c and they get away with alot more now and people are frightened to tell them off in the street. If we were bad when i was younger, we'd get a clip around the ear.Policeman could tell kids off, not now because they'll get sued!!
litigation isn't a promise, it's a threat, and whenever has a swat on the butt hurt a kid? not a beating, but a swat! My grands get them from me if they insist on doing something I've told them not to do. hands slapped, butts swatted and a stern but quiet voice of "you've disappointed me in your continued misbehaving." and I walk away. Tears them up every time!
and as for filling their schedules up...whose idea is that? do the kids really want to do all those things or is it the parents thinking that's how to "keep up" appearances and such? If the kids have too many things to do, when do they get their homework done and ample sleep? when do the families interact as families? do they even know how?
We use to get a smack if we crossed the mark, we're not allowed to do it now as child abuse! It only takes a teenager to say my parent hits me for us to be looked at, nevermind the children that are abused daily and the parents who have got away with it!!
I agree lbd. I don't agree with abuse but one swat on the butt tells them that they have definately crossed the line. It does not hurt as much as much as it helps the kid feel safer knowing where the line is.
I think it is the kids, saying Please can i have' and certain parents will go broke just so they can have every thing, because they think it makes them a good parent, not knowing that it doesn't and makes the children brattish and then that is when the parents have trouble because they have given them too much!!
LBD, I think it's the parents overloading the schedules and for the reason you said, to "keep up". It's no wonder doctors are seeing kids for stress related problems at younger and younger ages.
I know my generation is at fault for "spoiling" our kids. giving them all the things we had to go without, but there are limits. and that goes with the attitude too. I watch people at the store and just can't understand how you let your kid run wild or pitch a fit in public and ignore them. Hello? if it takes a village to raise a child, this elder is breaking out the switches!
If my daughter wanted a certain thing which was expensive, she had to behave and also work for it as in do jobs around the house and then we'd pay some money towards it. we wanted her to know that you have to work in this world to get anything you want
Tho I defitately find it easier to discipline other people's kids because they are more respectful of someone they don't know very well. They are more used to pushing their parent's buttons because they don't always realise that parents are trying to set reasonable limits. I always believed something quicker if it did not come from my parents at least.
I am appalled at the child behavior I see in public. And the parents who do nothing about their screaming, whining children. My kids learned real fast what was and what was not allowed in public as far as behavior went.
good for you Liliann! she learns that hard work pays off. she learns the value of the object she wants. and in return maybe some other lessons.
she still has to Lbd, if she doesn't do her chores, she doesn't get pocket money, simple as, and if she swears or she answers back i minus money
I must admit Bug, i have more patience for other peoples' children than my own.but then my bairn is more respectful and will do anything for anyone else. i think we were all like that
You're teaching her some good lessons! and it's never too late to instill that in our kids. We have a rule here when the grands are around, no cussing. each word is a dollar in the kitty. that includes the parents too.
hi all. any clues for the 9?
I agree Molly, i've seen children scream and through food about and they're just allowed to do it, but seeing some programmes on the tv now, apparently you just let them do it and ignore them and they will stop
sorry mkg
en9, it's beef cut from between the ribs. helpful hunh! lol en + most of tall sticks we get lumber from + where doves or pigeons live.
ok bugs. maybe someone else.
Do you have the en5 Mkg as in to come in?
where do these birds live?
i got the word. ty.
have the en 5 also.
any j words you can clue? i have none
I said that LBd but it wasn't a clue as in the cut between the ribs,i said it after i'd clued it as alot of people here know the definitions and i didn't know if maybe the person i was cluing knew it.
The kid will stop...but only after someone chokes out the parent! oh wait, no that was in my fantasy. had a little tike screaming bloody murder in the store, we could hear him from the other side of the store! then they parked in front of the service desk and I got to have my ears pierced by his screams. Parent didn't do a darn thing, just said "there there, we're almost done." LIKE HELL! this kid had been screaming for over 10 minutes and didn't look like he was going to stop. After they left, I asked a manager what we could have done to get the parent out of the store. his reply was "stuff cotton in your ears."
I didn't, i know the word but didn't have a clue what it meant..lol. babble is tough to clue, because we're not allowed to give easy clues ,definitions, give numbers or whatever else as there will always be someone moaning about it :)
got 3 j words. ty
pshaw, clue anyway you want to.
I seem to be more tolerant of screaming kids in stores and less so in restaurants
lilliann i dont care who moans, i clue as i wish.
I'm not tolerant of them in either place.
people moan no matter what.
internet is not in the dictionary........whoaaaa........behin\nd the times eh?
very true Mkg.there will always be a Victor Meldrew :)(sorry, you won't know who he is)
need clue for the o in second column. one word. please.
Amen, dawg! I don't clue often because I'm not good at it.....and I appreciate the clues that are somewhat easy.....after all, this is a game. The very best part of Babble is the people....if it weren't for them I whould have quit long ago.
also need clue for one e word third column.
Hi Peach :)
I do not tolerate unruly children in restaurants. I'll leave or ask to be moved if the parents don't do something. I've removed my grandson when he decided he wanted to pitch a fit. we sat in the car and waited for everyone else to finish dinner. He complained he was hungry and I said, "we'll eat at home, pbj's." "but I want..." gave him the evil eye and that was that.
would - even
Hi there, lilliann. How are you today?
i agree peach. best part is chat and the people on it.
any clues for the o or e in secoind and third column?
or4, like the stuff you dig for in the ground. minerals and such
Fine ty hin, i took the bairn and her friend to see Monsters University, it wasn't as funny as Monsters' Inc
the other o is on** upon a time
How are you Peach?
E4 God of Love....also Bird, Bird, and Birds
en5 not exit
joso not from e in third column. have it. ty anyway for clue.
en7/8 ones who do the en5
god of love is other e.
sorry
ty for o clue. got it!
I'm OK today, thanks lilliann. It's pretty humid outside so I stay indoors most of the time.
I need to get a few things done.....bbl.
still need the e words for e in third column. i have none. all other e words clued are from 2nd column e.
ty for those e clues anyway.
I agree LBD, when the bairn was younger and we went to Greece on holiday or France to visit parent, children are allowed to run around restaurants but my husband would take her out in the push chair in between courses to get her to sleep or we'd play games with her and keep her occupied
Bye Peach, great seeing you as usual, i hope you're not sweating too much, tc hi9n :)
en9 meal starter *****+ place **** d'azur
mkg, take the en5 and extended it with the suffix used for one who does something, then plural it.
E..forever and ever, wash away soil
*in favor of drugging unruly kids *
that e 9 is from another e. ty anyway. have it.
mkg, it will take you forever to find that third column e.
lol ru!
And hello Babblers
wht do you have it?
Hi Joso, hows our Shadow doing :))
erosion not in grid.
Hi Wht
Yes, mkg, that was a clue
e4 is also periods of time and to wipe off chalk
mkg, it is a twisty little bugger
hi smd! lol at your recycling yourself. I like that!
mkg...shorten word you say is not in the grid
e4 from another e. not third column. have shortened word. ty
second je 6/33 please
crap.. I missed an I..
grrrrr
je + double con + alien dude
Sorry, mkg, my clue is from the second column e.
Jenner (he married in the kardashians.. he has to be an alien)
ty wht. still need third column e word please.
ru, you always make me laugh
Ty Lbd
The third column e's are en6/7 the person/s who come in.
LBD.. actually Bruce Jenner is starting to look like an alien.. very creepy face lifts
en9 french for come in co4
I agree about Bruce Jenner.
i dont have any 8 letter words. have the 9, and some of others. darn.
scent
oooooops. off to PB
I feel badly for guys who are really old and still desperately trying to look young by dying their hair.. etc
mkg.....do you have the birds
Bruce Jenner? need to google
en7/8 en go diagonally to the corner then to the right one letter, diagonally up to your left one, diagonally up to your right one and diagonally down to your right. that's the 7
Even when people do all the cosmetic stuff, they don't look young. They look artificially young which is when the creepy stuff starts.
ibd, ty but very confused
Bruce Jenner replaced Eric Estrada in Chips, that's so bad!! i loved Chips when i was younger
what's wrong with a seasoned face? look at sam Elliott or clint eastwood.
Clint isn't what I'd call "seasoned " now
scary creepy...joan rivers.
Sam Elliott, i've always thought he was a sexy man, and i loved him in Road House
loved him in the big lebowski
i;ve had a few friends who were "done"...
mkg, after en5 (not exit) there are 4 more words that are extensions of en5, 2 f them are the middle e words
I hate it when people get their lips done...so many people have had it go wrong and ended up with rubber lips!! i'd prefer to keep my lips little thanks and add lipstick
okay, so clint is a bit over the hill, but at least he doesn't look like skeletor or a plastic gi joe
biab, need more water
He just looks his age Lbd which is great.he's not onto surgery and just wants to be who he is and he's still a great ACTOR
sorry, i didn't mean to shout
robert redford is the one who is hard to acce'pt
i think it is becaude of the dyed hair. i hate when men dye their hair
Has he To? and hi :)
I use to love his hair colour
second to last te 6.18?
i think so. they always dye it darker ,a nd because they don't wear makeup they cannot compensate for the lightening of skin
I don't have it, sorry Ru
I like that Richard Gere hasn't dyed his
te6 more te5
Second to the last is one who sleeps in a camp dwelling
Ty Molly
Ty Joso :)
the 6/18 after the camper.. I have the 6/7 combo
more than one sea bird?
more te5, many more ruru
te + conc**** is in the sidewalk
doren.
that was it.. thank you guys
owl
hi folks
welk.
welki
ru
What was it?
hi welki
welk
your clue Molly.. thank you
that was a wrap
joso
welk, i found out that i could have bought those boots for about $30 less than i paid. i am mad.
dorens
you've pissed away more on less, owl - faggetaboutit
:P
talk about breaking in the boots :D
life is too short
Ty JOso
i went shopping yesterday: purchase = $24; returns = $55.
dorens, did you recoomend The Dinner, by Herman Koch?
but i want to get another pair. the python inlay is fab
H i welki and Dorens
yw lil
I did, welki... read it yet?
ohboy, a future boot-scootin' junkie
did they put a boa on the box TO?
yepper
i just figured out how to download from the library - i have it, hopefully will get to it this weekend
"You've pissed away more on less"...I like that.
i tried on a $300 pair that had me drooling. they were a little tight and i would never chance it.
i reallly enjoyed it,.. both the reading, and the post-read discussion. let me know when you've finished it
hahaha - thought i was doing something wrong. was trying for a few weeks, finally realized my card was expired *d'oh*
i intedned to try on the ones you showed me but they did not have my size
how do library cards expire?
hi dorens, welki, TO, joso, and anyone else I missed
it's all about perspective, molly - thanks :)
because here, they cost $12/year
ty for the recommendation, jmust finished "behind the kitchen door" and reading "A history of the present illness" which is by pone of kje's colleagues.
did you look at any of the lace up boots, owl?
wow, you have to pay to use the public library?
hi dawg and everyone else I missed which is just about everyone.
and, believe it or not, for museums
we don't pay but cards do expire
Well now I feel grateful. I have never had to pay for a library card, nor had one expire.
I don't go to libraries
no, but i will get some for the fall every day wear. dsw had great ones and good boots are always an onvestment
i was SO upset that there was an admission fee for this small museum here in town, when the beautiful museums in ny are admission by donation (for the most part)
we pay for museums too, but our taxes pay for the library. and the cards do expire, just have to renew with current id.
only one day a week, not?
I get tired of all the librarians hitting on me :D
"good boots are always an investment* you're killin' me *LOL*
I've never paid to go in a museum either, but DC area people get spoiled that way.
here, one day a month and never for the barnes. they should never have moved the barnes
hey.
Well Ru, some of us carry heavier burdens than others.
e-books, ru - that way you won't have to fight them off
i had no boots last winter and i missed them terribly.but i just bought some fabric ones for summer/fall.
I don't like borrowing from the library. don't know about all the germs...germophobic
Our library cards are free but if we lose them we have to pay for a new one and we have to pay for pre-ordered books from our own and other libraries and we have to pay if our books are late back(per day)
definitely go for the e-books thru libraries.
i agree. i always wash my hands after reading.
we caneven download language courses from ours. that spanish came in handy at our yard sale.
oy.. the burdens I carry :D
yup on the late fees or lost books. the last book I borrowed was a carlos castenedes book, and it was highlighted!! never again.
With the thousands of library books that have been in my hands, I am living, breathing proof that they won't kill ya. : D
*thumbs through the home depot catalog for a wheel-barrow for ru - shouldn't have to carry his 'burden' in his hands*
lol welki
:D welk i posted the other pair i was considering, give it a thumbs up or down?
i like the stetsons better than the twisted x
*Starts a chorus of "Lean On Me" for Ru*
I was going to say the same Molly.I've borrowed hundreds over the years and the bairn has held hundreds too and we're both ok. we all need some germs to build a resistance against others. when i was younger i'd pick chewing gum up off the ground and chew it and i'm ok :0
well would you believe some lady bought them?
i think it is the last pair i buy at that shop. not refunds, either
There is a seriously funny book to be written called "The Tales Of Young Lilliann"
i picked up a mothball and ate it , thought it was candy.
I know it's a silly phobia, but I can't help myself. after working at the bookstore, and seeing what people did there...*shudders* it's amazing I didn't get an e-reader sooner! lol
If i could remember the rest ther probably is a strange book Molly, i don't know about funny. i now have a book pinned to a shelf that i write things down about the babblers i talk to so i can remember what has been said(for me) :)
i do however, love the feel of a book in my hands and turning the pages as the story develops. not quite the same with an e-reader.
*Imagines LBD in latex gloves and a surgical mask at the bookstore*
the librarians never thumb through the books. i have found digsusting things in some.
I've never tried a moth ball To, what did it taste like?
oh Molly, if you'd seen some of the things we'd find on the shelves, in the books, you're hair would stand on end and fall out! some pretty nasty things. we'd wrap up the books and send them back to the vendor marked as damaged.
not very goos, i spit it out
Fireworks
whooo hooooo WHT!!!
Could you imagine if we all got together and added our stories to a 'Babble Book'. we could sell millions :)
Any clues before I go to bed?
yay wht
Yay!Wtg WHT!! :)
I wonder what kind of disgusting things the people on the Amazon packing line are doing to the books I order from them.
I still need too many Wht but ty anyway
*ties fingers*
That's why i like my tablet Molly, it's quicker, more hygienic and actually cheaper to buy books alot of the time
Unless you have a clue about the jackpot winning Mega Millions number, I'm all good, Wht.
time to turn off chat and buckle down. until clues are needed
LOL Ru, you've probably been tying your fingers alot through out this chat Ru:)
I do not concern myself with germs of that sort, L. And I will never be an e-reader person. I love books too much.
I'm going to flurk now :)
Good night all chatters, lurkers and flurkers
I love books too Molly but i find them too heavy to hold nbow
Night Wht, tc :)
Good night, you Prince of New England.
i don't understand flurk, i have always assumed those who lurk watch chat, if only for clues.
I still have loads of books and will never get rid of them
nope TO.. there are definite flurkers around
Apparently flurk is the new word, but i lurk, flurk sit here and watch people speak whilst i play babble:)
again: lurkers are those who do not chat or make their presences known.. this flurk thing seems to be to stir up contention.
No, really the flurk thing was just a joke.
nope.. there's a difference
I just upgraded to a fire hd. I love it and my house is so much cleaner. I subscribe to a few blogs that put out daily emails for free books. I've been introduced to several authors I would have never been if it wasn't for my tablet
Your Kindle Fire cleans your house? I need to get one then.
Lol. I wish!!
hell yeah
now see, i need to dive in *splash*
i was thinking the same thing, Molly. only wanting the app for my hd fire so it would clean my house.
Gets behind Molly in that queue
Hi Chrissie.
Actually it was just to try to have a little fun with words ..
still confused about flurkers
Hi Molly, and all
* goes into flurk mode*
hi chrissie and tor
*Starts to bang head against wall*
*hands molly a drink* now stop that, you'll spill it
*puts pillow between Molly's head and wall*
*puts padding up in cranky Irish room*
Really... internet was not found in the dictionary?????
"Gently rocks Molly"
*goes back to lurking, flurking or whatever you want to call it*
you're too nice to be a flurker doren :D
ah well, i don't know what a flurker is, so i might as well try it on for size. besides, being nice is highly overrated
... there's no F in lurk..... lol
is it Hot in NYC right now.. Humidity wise?
i dunno. i'm cooling here on martha's vineyard and it is stupendous!
*envious*
:D i cannot wait until we go
*wants Doren's life*
Chateaus in Sonoma, Martha's Vineyard... fine wine..
right about now, it is certainly a wonderful life. I just wish I could buy a house here
drank my last bottle of rabbit ridge brunello clone 2005 last night.. very dusty bottle. and we want more, more, more!
well, end of season is the time.
*Gets in line behind Ru to get Doren's life*
owl, where are you going?
<-- joins the increasing conga line
LOL
*wonders if there's a Flurkistan"
ninigret park
we should have a babble meetup in martha's vineyard... who's coming? this four bedroom house cost 3500 for the week. and it can sleep more than 8.. incredible water views.. private association beach... perfection
Doren that sounds like a lovely peaceful life.i'm joining the flurking congo line :)
I'm in
cheap
where is ninigret park? i've never heard of it
doren, did I tell you Jen's moving to Maine?
charlestown ri
every room has sliding glass doors to the deck. every room has water views.
and i think we have already declared Knoebels the next meetup :D
No, une that is terrific. What is she doing? teaching?
i don't think the 4 bedrooms will be enough Dorens. we'll be in sleeping bags :)
will be living in Stephen King's hometown of Orono :-)
for next year? i've never been to m.v.
she'll be a reference librarian at U of Maine
wow.. that is terrific. And you 'll be visiting, proud mama?
I can cook at Martha's Vineyard
i can watch you cook at martha's vineyard
I'm cooking in Long Island in a few weeks :D
i'll do the dishes
i"ll eat.
fantastic fresh seafood and farm fresh vegetables
i can multi-task and also watch dorens do the dishes
well, she's leaving a great job at U of Mich but she and boyfriend are ready to live "rural" -- they're really excited about hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, etc. :-)
I don't think it's fair over here.. I cook and do the dishes
i can copyedit the menus :-)
it is as it should be, ru
:D une
but we will have to listen to your puns
hope they're also excited about cold weather.. the hiking/bikingkayaking season might not be as long as they'd like, une
that balances things out
Man, what a life Mrs. Ru has.
no ru, you don't really ahve a fair deal at all. always been jealous of Mrs. ru and her coffees, etc. but them again.. she does have to listen to those puns
*ties fingers*
cold doesn't bother them at all -- keep in mind . . . they've been living in Michigan! LOL
I only pun here :D
Oh cry me a river, she gets cooked for, does no dishes and all she has to do is listen to puns?
true, une and sorry the brunello clone has gone to my fingers
keep me posted about this dream trip - g'night folks
i believe that.
re7/48 pls
I'm actually very quiet, sincere, and shy and retiring in real life.. with no sense of humor or anything
hahahahahah
night night, welki

My secret, i can't tell or i'd have shoot someone with a bog roll :)
My secret, i can't tell or i'd have shoot someone with a bog roll :)
Sorry, it was playing up
re8, not exit, again
tx!
Bog roll sounds like something really gross you would use for toilet paper in the wilderness.
Sorry, bog roll is toilet paper :)
It's a slang word
You don't have to be sorry. : D
Atleast it would be soft and wouldn't hurt.we have an advert here for a certain loo roll, soft and strong and very very long :)
Sounds more like an ad for a laxative.
I'm just waiting for Ru now :)
well as it's to do with loo roll, maybe that's what they meant...
Sorry, into the scatology again.
In family chat it always gets to atleast 2 subjects...sex and pumping(farting) which always lower the tone, that's life
Sorry to all :)

Hi Rose
thank you both but I need too many to bother either of you---Are you back home yet
No bother Pug
nope, pugs. still in echuca. the doctors have called in a liver specialist for braxton. it looks more and more like a clotting problem to me.
oh no---Iam still praying for him--Hes such a pretty baby--Is he holding his weight
yes, hun, and he's feeding like there is no tomorrow.;)
I know its kind of hard to really enjoy yourself with the going ons at home but I hope you are. Did you get to find your fathers friend
no, sadly he passed away apparently. found his daughter whom i had no recollection of ever meeting.
Thats too bad. Did she know your father
i've just seen your pics of Braxton? 2 weeks early and over 12lbs?? Sorry to hear about liver problems i hope and am sure he will recover soon :)
no she didn't....
thanx lilliann
he looks like a strong boy and will fight whatever comes his way Rose
so what things have you and yours be doing
we've been for a ride on a paddle steamer, had a devonshire tea with scones about 5inches high
ooohh that sounds really delightfull indeed
been to 4 museums, one general history of echuca, a beer museum, a car museum, and the hospital museum
bit of a worry with the last, they had a display of artifacts which i remember using when i did my training.lol
sounds like a lot of walking--so hows your leg holding out
have been taking it very slowly...resting well between each visit.
i'm going to bed now so night and tc Puglet and Rose :D
night lilliann, sleep well dear
How long have you been in the medical field
Night Lill and you take care as well
oh, and pugs, found a beautiful pair of burgundy-coloured knee-high leather boots.i think they look great.
pugs, since february 1970....
You will have to put them on and send a picture of them
just the boots??? or should i wear something with them?
I guess then you have seen alot of changes through the years in medicine
thats all up to you but you better hope ruru didnt see that
yes pugs, like disposable needles and syringes for a start
yeah, lol
Has that been your favorite musuem then
whats your plans for today---I take it the weather has been nice for you then
guess so....but as i said, things i used are now museum artifacts, and that's scary
