I just can't believe this guy caught the turtle and then left it here. I told him to take it back as soon as I saw it, and he just left. what a jerk. he said he plans to trade it to someone who'll cook it. nooooo!!!! liberate the turtle, lol!!!

oh, he has painted everything el4, put down new flooring, and installed a new heater/fan/light fixture. but it took 2 1/2 years to get to that stage. he has done nothing since my knee operation june 2012
mine used to build all kinds of things, but now that he's disabled, all things to do with the house are either unimportant or my problem. for example, the guy who put in our new floors (the old ones were rotten) found a leak in the kitchen sink drainpipe down below, but hubs has a spasm if I mention hiring someone to fix it.
now I have to be a plumber, too? grrrr...

but if it rains, one of us has to jump in the chair and ride it out to his shop, where there's a carport to shelter it. And fetch it back the next day for him.
I admit I flinched when I found out the gas company charges a flat $750 to move a meter, which we had to have done. wow!
here's a thought, rbud. could you afford to buy a weather-proof cover for the chair?

rbud, do you have anyone who can talk to him, one on one? sometimes when diagnosed with a progressive debilitating disorder, patients just throw inthe towel. they forget they have a lot of productive years left to them.
I know several people just like that and I just dont get it! So many would love to be able to walk or whatever and cant. And to just give up is so sad

When I lived in Florida, I was once on a country road and there was an enormous turle crossing it. We stopped the car and I got out, picked it up and carried it in the direction it was going. It promptly turned around and walked straight back into the road!
But I wouldn't eat one,just Lucky it didn't bite me because it wasnt happy when I picked it up

I'm releasing a soft-shelled turtle this AM, sprite, if you're still here. it was caught by a guy and left here, he said he's going to get it killed and cooked, but he's not been back for more than a day, the heck with him.

he's turtle-obsessed, keeps catching them. last fall he kept one in an aquarium for months and finally let it go. I think he should just leave the poor things where he finds them, but no.

its shell is about ten inches long, and it has a long skinny snout. I'm used to snappers and box turtles, but this is a first for me.

how is the building coming along?
well, I didn't get out to the house today yet -- stopped at Mothers and went over the lighting plan we developed this morning with a lighting expert and then the weather is so pre-storm that I had to come home and rest a while.
BUT. Yesterday they got all the fill in place so they should be working on getting the rebar and waste-plumbing today and tomorrow (our home will be a slab with radiant heat so a lot more time and work on the foundation).
did you have that type of heat before> I have heard good things about it
i have not, but I have always wanted it because all my research tells me it is the most efficient way to heat a home - and since our climate is usually so mild in the summer I don't really need or want any sort of whole-house airconditioning. If later on it becomes necessary to think about cooling, there are some amazing ductless heat pump systems I could install.

My only concern with it is that someday we might have grandchildren and concrete is hard. But I suppose when/if that happens I could get an area rug to pad their falls. We are going to stain the cement and seal it rather than put something over it that would impede the transfer of heat to the air.

yes, they can -- and I am looking forward to seeing what our options will be. I want something that will be interesting, but not too over-the top design or cost-wise.

She's a nice enough girl; but her family is --different (she lives with her great grandmother across the strew while her mother 2 younger brothers and her grandmother live (and rent) next door to us; not sure why of what for; but very odd.
(Her 2 brothers are 11 months and not quite 2 yet; too young this year to play outside with a busy 4 year old)
