I think "monkeying" does not cover that sideways way of finding words when your fingers just slid of the keys and found a word you never heard of of their own accord. Monkeys are random, but deliberate. This is more of a Ghost.
lol too true, jw

And now we killed the chat

I miss the old video rental days :D
Call me old-fashioned :D

I like netflix streaming, which is pretty cheap.

good morning all
hi sprite

ty sprite
hello, flosey, jilli and sprite. xo xo xo there that's one of each for each of you.
sprite, your icon is rather, um, fun!
thanks jilli :)
aw rose, that is sweet.
Hi rose, xo to you too
back to work tomorrow, but only for 5 hours...seated duties ONLY.
I hope all will go well, rose. You will be careful, won't you?
yes, dear. i'm gonna sit and read if that's all they have for me to do...lol
take care of yourself, rose -- you've had too much bad luck
great :) But I hope they will have put some effort in your coming back and made sure you have real work to do.
*shrug* for 5 hours, i don't think it will matter if it is just auditing.
auditing would be ok too, it IS real work. Boring, though.
boring as....LOLOL, great minds
lolol
ok, back and ready for bed
wb and sleep well, flosey.
thanks sprite - I don't want to wake hubby by fussing about later
Hugs to all my dear friends here! Here but just lurking in the background
cooee pugs. xo for you, hun.
hi pugs
hi pug, why lurking?
Hi ya Flosey-
hi pug
feeling kind of hot and yucky
Hi Jilli and Sprite and Rose and I thought I seen Peach too
hot again? Sorry to hear that, I thought the heat had broken.
Sprite will e mail you later--
Pug, I'm here.....friend on phone....with problems.
Iam feverish hot
looking forward to it, pug
I knew I seen you Peach
pug, your icon is adorable
oh dear... that is very unpleasant. Take care of you, pug!
thanks Jilli
Rose thanks for your help too
*waves silently to peach*
Problems, pug? Sorry to hear that.
np's pugs. hope i was of some help.
you were Rose and Jilli nothing big Iam just a tad under the weather right now
Hi sprite.
Go away, weather, get off pug!
Jilli was it you the other day talking about a friend or family member having mental problems? If so are things any better
You okay Peach
pug, I do have a friend who was just diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Things don't get better with that :(
aw jilli, am so sorry. That is a tough disease.
It's hard to believe. She's an active golfer at age 86, passed her driving test, full of fun and wit -- but does forget things. Early stages. Unhappy about leaving her house and going into assisted living, but facing facts.
that is sad Jilli--its an awful thing.Mainly for the family
she sounds like an amazing woman.
Her husband is permanently in hospital after strikes and blindness. Her two married daughters live in other towns.
*strokes
She lives on the other side of the continent from me.
the poor woman---my heart goes out to you Jilli
not easy to give up her own place, but for what it it worth, I think she is making the right decision. Much better if you are still able to make that decision yourself and be an active participant in the move.
And yes, she is amazing and has been a steady friend for many a year -- met her in 1955.
hehehe you have been friends for longer than I am alive!
I dont think there is anything more important then true friends(besides the Lord)
There ya go, sprite! I have told her how friends I know who have made the reluctant decision to go into assisted living are now very much enjoying all the TLC and carefree housing and activities.
I hope she will too, jilli. Giving up your own place is a hard hing.
I know, and I ain't agonna do it. Sez me.
I hope you never will have to, jilli. You know you are my shining example, right?
Tarnished, sprite, tarnished.
nah, not from where I am standing
no jilli, not at all, you're a shining example
Sure didn't sine at bridge tonight, lol!
losing ones independent is so sad.In the nursing home those people makes you so sad.I dread the time when it comes my way
ah well, that's a different kettle of fish
win some, lose some
I can see Jilli's rays coming through clear over here-lol
yup
oh jeez!
I'm going to be on the phone with this friend....so, I will see you all later on.
*hugs* for peach... take care, hun
good luck with your friend, peach
bye Peach -take care
hope it's an enjoyable chat, Peach
it was a friend with problems, so probably not really
oh dear, well bless her, hope she is able to offer comfort
gotta refill the cup - brb
back
How are you Sprite--any better on the homefront
wb
no, worse actually. We discovered yesterday that Tim has damaged our bicycles.
sorry -- John Oliver just came on TV -- too hilarious
good grief sprite! what did he do?
oh no! Such a bad time for you.
and I had an extensive talk with a consultant on youth services... sent Tim an sms with an invite to talk... and he let us know he was not interested at the moment.
who is Tim (I know I should know)
he removed the ... don't know the word. He made it so that our wheels come off now.
jilli: our 17 yo son
hi all
Hi Joso
Oh, sorry, sprite. 17 yo sons are difficult, I remember.
sorry ti ia acting up again sprite
hey pug
and school still hasn't come back to us about it all... and my own therapists don't seem to understand it is serious.
hi joso
hey jilli
joso... yeah, very seriously this time. He hit his sister and gave her a black nose.
Oh dear
yes, attacking family is serious, no clue what he is thinking about
sprite is there a private school or a relative that he could go to for a while
not really, pug. It is a mess. Right now I don't see a way out. Will call school again after babble.
sprite I hate to tell you at thhis time that here are 9 K words, ugh.
*grin* Jilli, I know. And cause I hate them I take them out first. I found them all.
hello joso, was off replenishing the bourbon...now there's a surprise. how goes the cycling and swimming?
nothing happening along those lines, was off gaming yesterday
good for you sprite. I haven't found them and won't. Bed is beckoning and I have to be awake tomorrow morning.
sprite, just terrible thing for tim to do....i know it's hard. but can you give him a day or two to cool down. then try again. text him and let him know that you aren't available either.
will try, rose,thanks :)
some times the unreachable makes them want it....lol
was pretty mad at my psychiatrist... she said to consider if my past makes me too principal in this. How can I be too principal when it comes to Caya's safety? I can't let Tim hurt her, now can I?
ok, I give up on the wr 7 & 8 -- any clues avaiable?
weird thing for a shrink to say!!
old folks skinn
lolol jilli... look in the mirror and you will see a few of them...
jilli, why we iron
jilli, what our skin develops as we grow ol5
when you age Jille what you will see in the mirror
isn't it, rose? It pissed me off, to be honest. Wrote back to her that I don't feel ok with telling Caya: "Well, yeah, sometimes Tim will hit you and give you some black spots, but lighten up.'
flosey!?!? you ir4 your skin?
enough help jilli?
flosey, don't ir4 your face!
sprite, I hope your psychiatrist isn't hinting that you are in any way to blame! That would be too wrong and harmful. .
I didn't mention skin but I do ir4 wr8 clothes
if that is what she means, jilli, I will have her for breakfast!
Sprite I know this isnt pleasent but could you press charges for him doing that to her and let him have a few days in jail?
just pulling your leg, flosey :)
lol - too bad we can't do something like that though
I considered it, pug, especially after discovering the vandalism on the bikes. But once the police gets involved, we are on a highway to hell. Will postpone that as long as possible.
lol pug -- I love the "when you age" part of you clue -- and I got it, tyvm -- nbs but still need an E in the 4th column
good, sprite!
jilli: to make changes in a text or post?
and ty too, flosey for the wr clues.
el5, e + large cat-li4 creature
um, that would be anagram large cat...duh
yes, and thanks rose
ty rose, sholdhave seen that, but considering the hour (12:31 am)...
also ed5/22, to improve intellectually, e + the ***ference , not similar, + sometimes vowel
nbt now too, so I'm off -- godnight/evening/day...*poof
just before going to bed is not a good time to be hungry, is it?
bye jilli *hug*
had a cup of tea, then a dish of ice cream
still hungry
good night Flosey and Jille hugs and sweet dreams
and lastly, en5/18, en + abbreviation for it's alright + vowel
not really, flosey, but going to bed hungry isn't wise either. And ice cream does not count ;)
ty sprite for another E word ;-) ....repoof
lol, jilli is pulling a jilli on us. Rebye, dear!
g'nie flossey and jilli
night, jilli, sweet dreams, hun
may I beg a clue for the in7? Am having a serious case of babble blindness.
and flosey, i simply cannot sleep if i am hungry...which is why DH and i eat so late.
have to get up in the morning to bake a cake for the Volteers taking part in our Fall Fair Weekend of Sept.14 and 15 - busy tme
oh my typos galore
sprite, you unbeliever, you!
volunteers taking part in the fair

in7, disbeliever
thanks joso!
or what everyone else is to muslims
yay, sprite
hey, anyone here seen zooz lately?
day before eysterday, I think, before he went to the booth sales.
nope-he wasent on yesterday that I seen
not I
think he was on when I came in
Ive been worried about moonwoof; she was very sick the last I talked to her(and thats been several weeks ago)
I have emailed her and didn't get a reply either, pug.
oh, wanted to know if he had any success with the spray i told him about....to stop the cats coming into his yard.
wolf...sick.....not good....
You cant email Zoom
I think zooz will be back soon
last I talked to moon she was in the hospital for some type of flu

ty sprite
gnight again Flosey
sleep well, flosey.
Rose could you share a tad of your bourbon?
what tad? Here, that bottle!
giggles---thanks Sprite--want a swig
we can share :)
bottle in PB....just duck in and have a swig...lol
seems like rose is distracted again... what are the odds her love is walking around half naked again?
ah... there she is! :)
something fishy is going on
roflol...tears pouring down face....what are you, sprite? psychic?
:D

hehehe good! Smooching is a wonderful thing.
looo-ooove his kisses. make my knees go weak....*giggle*
love is beautiful. So is lust with the one you love :)

s'okay, pugs. joso and sprite have gone for a bit. but i am here, does that count?
how close are you to finishing?
well you know you do--big times-lol
I got 40 to go
*smiling at pugs* and hugs for a beautiful friend.
was thinking of going to take care of my problem
may i help you? oh, and did you see my last email? sent today/yesterday?
yes and I thank you but I do think the egg has just hatched--so to say and I need to care for it
Hope your return to work goes smoothly Rose and will be thinking of you. I truly hope you dont overtire yourself though
hugs and wishes for sweet dreams through out the night and May Him close you in his mighty arms. night dear friend
oh, my, pugs....love and hugs, hun. see you tomorrow?
ah, thanx, dear friend. prayers are always good. know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
good morning
whoopee!! g'day ruby
xoxox to darling ruby.
Hell {{rosie}} sweetie. It looks like I missed reading about everybody's troubles.
whatis going on? Pls fill me in.
hello!!!!
sprite's son tim is being a teenager, to the enth degree, he has sabotaged their bicycles.
pugs has medical problems.....i feel she really needs to see her doctor...
joso is fine...
I wrote to her, sticking my big (NOT) nose in. I think he's being much worse than an "ordinary" teen
what's wrong with pubgs? She wrote to me just yesterday and didn't mention anything.....
i think it was flosey's long time friend has just been diagnosed with alzheimer's.
pugs is running a fever...
I think that means I should stop my whining!
eden
i encouraged sprite to give tim a couple of days to cool down, then contact him.
no, of course not, dear friend. you also have a right to complain, as we all do. is burt behaving?
I'll write to you and tell you what I think
he is winding down and is depressed but is less often nasty, so that's a plus.
okay, hun. oh, and i return to work tomorrow, for 5 hours only.
you are a tough cookie!
seated duties, ONLY.
55 words, but no biggies
hah, 59 and will be back later

hi River
they were my first words today
Hi River
just made plans to go to Ireland next April with some friends
Wow! That will be wonderful!
My friend Ruth asked me last week if I was interested in going....they needed a 4th in the group....I am beside myself I am so excited
that's great River. Such a fun place to visit.
That is a place I want to visit "someday." UK, Italy and Sicily--the only countries on my bucket list.
You picked good ones Scrabs.
I have never been to another country other than some islands but that doesn't count. Ruth went to Italy 2 years in a row.....
and Canada of course but that is like going next door for me
to the other side of the pond has always been a dream of mine too!
I have been to Europe many times but made my first trip to Canada last year.
good afternoon everybody
Hi ((Ruby))
Speaking of the other side of the pond, hi Ruby.
Must go. bbl. hagd All.
{{river}} {{hego}}
that is wonderful, river!
now for the long wait - we dont go until next April
On phone with mother. She is reviewing all of the morning newspaper articles with me.
And the obituaries.
what is the weather like there in April Ruby - thats not too far from you is it?
that will give you time to pack lol
lol scrabbs
It is hard to say. This was the first year in 15 when we had a horrible spring. Usually, spring last a long time and is glorious. This year was wet and cold.
But Ireland is never as cold as the continent, I think, and it is so beautiful that even the rain will be lovely
Yikes, I admitted that I didn't read a particular article so now my mother is reading it to me. Aaaaah.
April in Ireland...mild (55-60) and rainy. Rain gear is a good thing to plan on bringing.
and you can always warm up at the nearest pub.
we are doing a tour of the southern part of the island starting in Dublin for a couple days and moving on
Raincoat and comfy sneakers.......check
I've only been there once, in the southwest, Connemara, and it was incredibly beautiful
You can buy your sweaters there
Read Tana French's books--centered on Dublin Muder Squad. Great writer.
April 25 - May 4 is the plan
<-- loves my Irish sweaters
will make sure I have plenty of room on my credit for a sweater or two
credit card that is
what is the currency there?
they were surprisingly inexpensive
euros
scrabbs......have you died of boredom yet???
probably fell asleep on the phone
We're done---for now. She isn't "ready" to give me her grocery list yet. Maybe in an hour.
rofl
see you later, kids. I'm happy for you, River, something to lo** forward to in the darkness of winter!
But she reviewed the obits so she can move on now.
((ruby)) nice to see you
Bye Ruby
stats for the E please
el5/10
hey all.
about to leave, but stopped by to get some quiet time in.
how are you stid - long time
got it - thanks kje - NBT and NBS now - must get to work...hagd all
job, river -- just over halftime. Found out about it soon after my interview last Tuesday; kids arrive tomorrow. PANIC! :-D
I'll be back online on evenings and weekends only for a while, but this morning I needed a little calming down. Babble always works for that.
congrats stid.....I saw your post of FB - that is wonderful news and you will do spendidly!
how are you river? I have 2 minutes...
I am well - busy busy as usual - Sarah is back to school so it is a bit lonely without her at home. Keith started school last week and soccer is keeping him busy everday....first game today - I cant wait
I have to go - good luck tomorrow Stid....
sounds like a normal fall for you! Hope the rest of your week will go well. gotta fun! *poof*
Hi Stid.
I don't li4 this grid. Maybe I'll return tonight.
Bye Scrabs
hello babblers
hi TO

Good morning, all!
howdy,judi
Hi Judi!
morning Judi
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
I always wanted a pink princess phone, Judi...your icon just reminded me of that!
Studies in space have shown that birds cannot survive in weightless environments since they require gravity in order to swallow food.
They're out there, car. Try E-Bay or Etsy. Of course, you would probably want a push-button one.
somewhere in my junk,i have a black rotary dial phone just like that
things are like tanks, they never wear out
that would make a good diet plan,Crossy
Not for the poor birds!!!!
I think my Aunt still has a working rotary phone. Why, I don't know.
What was it that you could dial and have the line ring back? 66?
My nephew dont even know what a rotary phone is-lol
we had a party line for I dont know how long until privite lines came in our area
Hee hee, puglet. Lots of kids don't know what a rotary phone is, let alone a record player, Walkman, etc. etc.
then it was years before the rotary was replaced with touchtone phones
Yep. Lived through all that electronic evolution.
There are far too many "i's" in this grid.
for myself Iam glad for a break from all the A's from the last few grids
we had a party line with two other homes.our ring was 2 short and one long lol
and phoning the uk via the transatlantic cable was chaos at best
First phone number for local calls: 454
never forget that and the 7 second delay.my da used to have a stop watch going when we called gramma
Subject reminds me of "The Cone of Silence" in Get Smart. *chuckles*
Studies of interest: The Pew Research Center has discovered that a majority of people surf the Web for no reason!
lol www.stumbleupon.com is the ultimate time vampire
"These results come in the larger context that internet users of all ages are much more likely now than in the past to say they go online for no particular reason other than to pass the time or have fun."
not like the old days where we stared at the tv for 6 hours a night
all three channels
funny though, there seemed to be more quality shows to watch then than now
The article other concludes: Way to go, Captain Obvious.
You had THREE channels!?! We had two channels, a television the size of Space Lab and rabbit ears made from contorted coat hangers.
author, not other
remember when they took off westerns due to the fighting--lol
yup three, wkbw out of buffalo, ctv out of toronto and our local cable network
i always used to worry about lorne green when watching him on our first colour set,in bonanza he always had this light lime green appearance
the first show I got to watch in color was the wizzard of oz
and that was at our Aunts house-lol
Only half of the Wizard of Oz was in color.
If fighting is a legitimate basis for excluding programs, C-Span, Meet the Press, etc., should all be off the air.
first film i watched in colour was candid camera with alan funt
I remember my grandma tv-A old rca and everytime you touched it would shock the pee out of you--lol
Did you have to watch in the bathroom?
I like that show Crossy--I watched it too
lol-no o-o
it was a floor model in a metal console
but no one wanted to change the channels nor turn it up or down
ours was a massive wooden framed console model, thing weighed a ton
did it have a record player in it too
lol. My MIL had one of those. We finally moved it out of her living room two years ago. Took four of us to lug it out.
nope we had a seperate console unit for that.had am/fm/sw 1/sw2 and record player and 8 track.i was forbidden to touch it
poor Crossy! what kind of music did your parents like
my very first music device that was my own was a gift of a used bell and howelle reel to reel.i could spice tape like a pro:)
my da was into johnny cash and roger wittaker
splice
Ive never heard of one of those,Crossy--bell&howell
yup,was big at the time
you bought tape on mini reels, about 15 minutes of time.i used to slice them together and get an hour a tape
splice
secret was to splice neatly with no jagged edges or the take up reels would grab it and you would have a mess.rip the tape right apart again
I used staples
well you must of had a pretty sturdy hand to be able to do that
oh you had one too O-O
Does anyone have a clue for the or6/18?
Then I held the tape up to the sun
there was this little splicing guide, almost like a carpenters mitre box.you place both ends in after you lay down the splice and it lines them right up and did most of the work for you
it's a bird judi
or 6/18 is a bird - east coast US - and a baseball team
Ty, movieman. Could have sworn I typed that earlier! Firewords!
yw judi.....congrats!!!!!!!
mod and dad had a TV before I was born. We got a color TV many many many years later.

If I had my own place I would grow basil, saffron and lavender.
the soup is done. it smells good. I have not tasted it. will have it for dinner. planning on making an arugula and strawberry salad with pumpkin seed and lemon vinegrette.
these are all recipesd from Anna Getty's Easy Green Organic cookbook which I got on clearance for $1.00 at TJ Maxx.

sure, come on over about 6 pm. It is all just for me altho I will offer some of the soup to my sister.
Hello again!

I will make an heirloom tomato salad in the next few days and French lentils in mushroom gravy as well.

Hello uusue!
hello sue
the recipe for the saffron cauliflower soup is on line. just type in Anna Getty recipes.
hi car, wv, peri!
it called for tahini which I do not have and do not like much so I did not use it. I added some garlic power at the end tho.
Clue please for the ed 5/22? I just can't seem to make it work.
You can grow herbs in small planters. Be careful if you grow basil though, it has a tendency to produce much more than one person can deal with.
I grew basil in contaniners when I lived in my apt

Hi WooTy. What is the latest on your Mother In Law?
Have forgotten, were you on when I shared about the kitchen poop?
Yes, alas, I heard about that. Any plans to update her care?
*Just said a fervent prayer that thirty years from now, there is no discussion of my kitchen poop*
We have to wait until end of week, see if treating her UTI worked. I suspect it is aught for naught. She will most likely be placed in a rest home. It's tough because sometimes she is totally with it. Hubby and I are going over to look at a locked Memory Care ward in our town. Meanwhile, I still think more thorough MD eval and an actual diagnosis is necessary.
Meanwhile, they are hiring a private agency to come in when sis and hubby are at work this week.

does anyone have experience with a multi-dentist practice where you don't want to see one guy because he seems to be not that good at fillings? how do you not be awkward about it when you're telling the scheduler?
half way....need coffee...brb
HUrshy, I would merely say "I had a really great experience with Dr So&So, would it be possible to have him again?"
I wouldn't say anything. I would just call and make an appointment for the doctor of your choice, when he is available. If asked, just "I prefer Dr. GoodFilling"
yeah except then it turns out so-and-so is really unavailable and you might be fine with any of the five or whatever others...
i mean i did it, because, i have a pretty close relationship with my hygienist and i told her and she worked it out. but i felt awkward, that's all.
As a medical professional, I support the ideation that you are a consumer and that you have full choice.
but my husband and i have both had poor fillings from the same guy and you gotta wonder if like, i dunno, someone should let them know that he needs more training, or, i don't know
Considering the cost of dental care, there is nothing wrong with not wanting to see one in a practice because you have had a bad experience.
yeah
And any health care business (that IS what it is) needs to be respectful to patient wishes
And you should say something if you HAVE had a bad experience

hi peri
ta
Peri... I was lurking before when you were talking about your menu... are you veg?
pretty much
I do eat fish now and then
Vegan here... always looking for good recipes.
the soup turned out well but it is missing a little something. may I wiill add fresh garlic next time
Spell. the saffron cauliflower soup would be vegan if you changed the type of stock. the recipe called for chicken stock so that is what I used. next time will use a vegetarian stock
I'm not sure about the saffron... it's a tad expensive and if the recipe was "missing something" I think I might pass.
I do a lot of soup here. Usually I sauté onion and then throw in some broccoli. Veggie stock (I use knorr cubes) to fill the pot, some spices. When the broccoli is almost mush, I use the immersion blender.
have you checked out Kris Carr. I am pretty sure she is vegan. she has written several books and has a website. Another person is Alicia Silverstone. here book is called The Kind Diet.
I did use saffron but maybe not enough. the soup was good tho.
I tried the immersion blender and did not do well with it. I switched to regular blender. But I do like soup too
I will look into Kris Carr. I'm not a huge fan of Silverstone's book. There are many out there that are better.
I forgot to add: IMO
the book I got the recipe from is not all vegetarian but it was only $1.00 at TJ Maxx and there are some neat recipes in it
Gotta love a bargain! ;-)
Carr's site is timing out. I'll try again later. I love Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything Vegetarian" He has a lot of vegan recipes in there too, but he really talks about how you can modify a recipe. Very helpful.
How do you play?
it's like Boggle...just find words with connecting letters and type in words separately in the Add Word box
you are playing on your own....not competitive....
And the Help tab above will tell you all about the scoring
I have seen Mark Bittmans book but have not used it.
Christine Pirello is another author who is vegan. she also has a cooking show on TV
Mom got it for me for Xmas a few years ago. Hubby joked and said it's a doorstop. It's HUGE. Around 1000 pages. It's also available as an app.
or is it Christina
yea I know it is huge and I have enough cookbooks at the moment
I have two shelves in the kitchen... I have room for one more cookbook. Then, anything that comes in needs to replace something.

ty champ, did not see that consonant
np! didn't even think it was a 'real' word till i tried.
So...if anyone wants to throw some hints for the k's out there....

there are two ke4/8. one is a game, I think. and the other sounds like the start of a piece of corn
ke 4/8 - something to do with printing -- spacing
ki4/8 - pottery oven
ki 4/8 - like the 2nd ke, just a different vowel
ko 4/8 - new to me... sounds like a soft drink with a different ending vowel
kr 5/18 - think old witch, but with a diff first consonant

so excited!
yay teach, and great news, phan!
I will be meeting with the night staff.
good going phan!
cool, phan!
what kind of job
Nursing job on an oncology unit.
ah, oncology nurses are the best!!! Tough job, though...
important to have good, caring people in that job
yup. People that know me keep saying they think this is a good match for me. I feel the same way.
we'll all be hoping for the best for you
Thank you so much!

Good Evening Everyone. How are you all tonight?
Hi Nef!
Hi phan! I just read your good news! Congrats!
hi
thank you!
hoping for the best news!
That is a job that I couldn't do; oncology takes a special person (and I wasn't a good match).
hi penquis
Sending you lots of good wishes and hope and pray that you will ace the interview and get the job, phan!
hey phand!
Thank you, Nef! I really appreciate that
hey all!
second interview?
hi stid! Congrats to you too on your new job! :-D
yes, I am meeting with 2 of the nurses from the night shift.
thanks Nef! The classroom looks good (I hid some of the unfinished-unsorted materials in a little office space they gave me). We'll see if it functions well once there are kids inside!
very good, phand! I hope it goes well. Is that a good time of day for you to work? (NOT a night owl)
I loved being a night nurse, stid. It's a whole 'nother universe working nights in hospitals
well, I can't really be choosy about the shift at this point.
It always seems that they start newbies out on nights where ever I worked
true, and nights could have some real advantages, I think in terms of pacing?
exactly, Stidmama!
hi all
hey jes.
much less interruptions on nights than on days, stid. On days (I always had to work them during orientation for about 2 weeks when I changed hospitals) the docs and visitors and food trays and respiratory and PT and etc. kept interrupting cares and teaching. I found it very frustrating to work day shift in hospitals
hi jes.
how goes?
I can't figure out the yi 4/6. I swear I have tried every logical combination.
BTW, DH and I met Round Barn yesterday and we had quite a nice visit with her, her cousin, and her cousins' wife. She's a really nice lady. (And I talked too much too!)
try illogical ones, phand, like 2 of the same letter
thanks jes!
thank you Jess, I never even saw that option!
how about teh or 6?
how's the boy doing, jes? Is he back to normal now?
1st day of school today, haven't talked to him - i actually just got home from work (yes, yes, we closed 3 hours ago...)
I did drop a kitten in his lap though :)
phaan, try spelling the weird Swiss singing different, and the yo 6 is the person who sings that
sorry, I drifted away.
LOL! Vets are much like other medical people: can't leave tip the excitement and paperwork are done!
til
yah. and today was EXCITING.
Oh?? what happened?
I was scheduled alone because we like to try and kill me. I ended up calling in another doctor for the afternoon, who did the 2 hip dislocations and the fractured femur (3 different dogs)
Oh, my! Someone throwing dogs around or trying to run them down?
oh geez, glad you had backup, but WOW. You totally need another partner...
the second hip was just freaking crazy. dog was on a tether in the yard, owner was working on the roof. somebody drove into the yard, hit the dog, and drove off!
I give up
the Yi is like "to si* with love" only double that last consonant
broken femur was hit by a car yesterday, but they didn't call until today.
wow, Jes! That is awful!
do you have the Swiss singing, phan?
I was only supposed to be at the school 4.5 hours today. I was there for ten and now working with my feet up. :-D I really really hope I can get everything ready!
oh jes, how sad
"we like to try and kill me" .. That could be in my job description ..
jes, what kind of idiot would do that?
superspecial idiots, nef
hey tor! ((hugs))
if you mean the yo 5 yes I do.
there is an "alternate" spelling for the yo5, too.
Heyas kids ..
okay, switch the last 2 letters around; then add a hook letter
not sure how to change the spelling with or being the begining letters
hi tor! How are you?
I don't need a Y, I need the OR 6
or6 is a bird ..
thanks, tor
A bird is a word ..
hey stid - do you buy books from amazon? They've introduced a program called 'matchbook' that lets you get cheap e-book copies of books you've purchased from them in the past. might help with replacing the library...
bird is The word, isn't it, tor?
bird,bird, bird is the word!
LOL! Our ages are showing! :-D
also a baseball team (happens to be my team) Thank you!
I think I am going to retire with 8 left. Dragging.
sleep sweet, phand!
sweet dreams phand
Thank you. :^)
Nitres, phand ..
thanks for the book tip, jes. wil pass that along to Tom who does most of our amazon stuff
dislocated wrist dog from the weekend went home. hopefully will get her to the orthopedic surgeon in a week or so for fusion of the joint
Sorry, had to go help DH for a bit. He dropped his pill box and his pills spilt all over the kitchen.
I hope the dog will be okay -- I have to head out. Need to get my act together so I have something to "show and tell" for the kids tomorrow. *poof*
get 'em all cleaned up before the kid finds 'em?
g'night, stid, have fun wrangling kids tomorrow
jes, why do they need to fuse the joint on the dog? WIll it keep dislocating now if it isn't done?
(niters phan and stid; a bit late)
yeah, the whole top of the joint was laid open, with too much tissue missing to re-connect extensor tendons and close. So it'll never be a joint she can use anyway
Wow! That's a lot worse than what I thought it was! Poor dog! How did that happen?
and rather than have a floppy foot she can't place right, and will walk on the top of, and which may be chronically painful from the expected severe arthritis, they can plate it together and then she can walk on the leg and not have the pain associated with motion
hit by car
poor thing. Is it a big dog?
probably lost most of the soft tissue to the road surface. I got the fun of picking gravel out from between the carpal bones. When she came in, the paw was nearly 180 degrees rotated from the radius
Wow! Just reading that hurts!
it was... pretty impressive
she's medium sized - 55 pounds. probably lab x dobie? really cute and sweet.
poor thing.... :-(
she's SO easy to work with too, doesn't fuss about bandage changes or anything.
that at least makes it easier for you. How's the owner doing?
they're alright, no bitching about the bill, and trying to find good things (could be worse... could have been the mr, who was out jogging with the dog when it happened, could have lost the paw, could have had ruptured spleen or other internal crushing....)
so at least they care about her
oh yeah, they're very nice
you make it sound soooo easy putting the paw back together,
good talent to have, I can only fix cars and computer programs
hah. well, the orthopedic surgeon gets the real fun, I admitted I couldn't fix it up right :)
now for the $64,000 question: Will she be in pain for the rest of her life? If so, wouldn't it be better to put her down?
i'd think, in my limited knowledge to just remove it
nope, that's why the joint fusion. pain comes with motion, fusing the joint eliminates the motion.
oh, good! I hate to see people or animals in pain
with the fusion, wouldn't that cause undo wearing of the skin on the paw, or will the animal learn how to compensate for that
amputation was the second option - if the paw wasn't saveable (too much soft tissue damage and interrupted blood supply, or lack of owner financing), but amputation has other long-term issues to consider, like abnormal use and early arthritis in the other leg.
heading to bed....g'nite all
no, the joint will be fused in weight-bearing position, and she can still move the toes, elbow, and shoulder.
sleep sweet, penq
wow, i'll call you first before I head to the doctors next time for a first opinion .... how do they know the position of the bones , weight bearing, when they pin it together
niters, pen.
because they're specialists and that's what they do... massively simplified, he'll just be putting normal anatomy back together, and locking it in place. all the bones are still there, it's the soft tissue around the joint that's missing.
Evening all.
hi peach :)
weiik, veteranarians are pretty smart people.
May I please have a clue for re7-52? Thanks
hi peach!
Hey there, Nef.
hopefully, weiik, you won't ever need your wrist rebuilt.
Hi there, jes.
re + ed 5/22
I don't question the intelligence of anyone with a sharp scalpel in their hand
And also, weiik, be glad you don't walk on all four extremities!
Rats! Don't have ed5-22. Will look more. Thanks, Nef
well, walking on all 4 does make amputation a bit more viable as an option :D
true, jes; but it sure makes it hard to zip and unbutton your pants! ;-)
that's the reason I mentioned it, I've seen alot of dogs, with 3 legs, but, now that I think of it, no cats, and the dogs seemed to be fine whether it was front or back
bbl
well off to bed, have a very exciting day at work tomorrow ... night all, everyone waiting for the flip
poof
i do a lot of amputations, actually, because they're almost always less expensive than fixing the broken bones.
sleep sweet, peach, weiik
