Antibiotics must be working well.
Hi jili

Had a lovely overnight stay in Victoria with in-laws and old friends.

hi jilli, I just came in as well

I saw that flosey - glad you had a good time too.
*snort* not so sure, flosey. i was diagnosed with viral bronchitis, borderline pneumonia today. have to back to doctor in 3 days.
oh no, rose! Enough isenough!
oh my, hope hubby doesn't catch that - and you take good care of YOU
Shoot, rose, you must have a nasty bug / virus over there.

hey sprite
hey joso :) How are you both, my friends?
hi sprite
hi jilli :) How nice you are still around!
upset tummy, been bad, munching on chips all day, now I feel like a kid after the ex
Iam fine and dandy!
aw poor joso :( Very uncomfortable. I hope you will heal up fast.
good to hear, pug!
How about you?
oh btw, my bloodsugar is finally reacting to the meds! 6.3 last afternoon and 9.3 this morning. First time it is below 10 in the morning.
it will pass, self inflicted wound
am good. Nervous for tomorrow, but good.
I won't be around long tonight -- sleepytime approaches fast
self inflicted? What did you do? Hit the booze?
same here jilli, not seeing words tonight
at least I got to see you for a bit, jilli :) And you, flosey, hi.
Chip intakes a no-no
what's happening tomorrow, sprite?
jilli: intake for a clinic for eating disorders. After this meeting and another one next week, they will decide what they can offer me for program.
I'm with jilli tonight, going to pack it in early. you are right pug, especially if that is all you have.
sheesh, just saw the volcano

night Joso, hope you feel better
oh, wait, I am a bit slow... tummy upset by the chips. Poor man.
Hi all :)
hiya Liz :)
Hi ya Liz
Hope all goes very well tomorrow, Sprite
thanks Liz :) It is scary, but at the same time I can't wait until we st5
well, fell asleep right here, better get to bed
goodnight all
night Flosey
Sleep well flosey; sweet dreams
tyty
Scary is good! But I agree with what Rose said yesterday, too much advice from others (non-professionals) can be very confusing.
gnight flosey -- bridge tomorrow?
yes, I will go with what they say. And tell you guys all about it, grin.
yes jilli
sleep well, flosey!
And no doubt get loads of advice from everyone. LOL!!!
yty, poof
:D Well, I am good at separating the useful from the well-meant but not so helpful stuff.
That's good!
Sprite, I started on one of those books and I do like her writing so far.(its the one of Vane and Bride)
ohhh that is one of my favorites. They are both such fun people. Glad you are liking it!
Your book sounded fascinating sprite - if it were in English, I'm sure I'd love it.
thanks Liz :) Well who knows, one day... ;)
If it happens, let me know. Sounds just my type of thing!
will do!
you wrote a book?
2 published, but no bestsellers, pug
oh wow! I knew you were smart! I want to know when they are in English too
I would have to translate them myself. And for that, I need a native speaker who is willing to proofread and correct my english... someone very good at languages.
Sorry, I have no knowledge of Dutch! Only what i can work out through knowledge of German!
well you seem to do just fine here!
lol, I know enough of Dutch... just not of English. I would need someone to tell me: "We don't say it like that, we say...." Etc.
I only know english! you guys are lucky to know different langs.
I'm sure there must be many who could do that!
Luck of the draw pugs. What you learn in school!
not as many as you'd think, Liz... and those who can, want payment which I cannot provide.
nbt/nbs but too sleepy for more -- goodnight/day all...*poof
night Jilli
we are blessed that way here. Dutchies have to learn several languages out of necessity, being a tiny country and wanting their fingers in every pie.
night jilli, sleep well
Night Jilli. Sleep well and sweet dreams.
Well, hopefully one day you'll find someone.
me too. Someone who like the genre, otherwise they'd get bored pretty soon, lol.
maybe one day they will invent a computer that you can talk into in your own lang. and it will translate it into whatever lang, you want
BBL - if I don't catch you sprite, as i said, good luck :)
thanhks Liz :)
bye Liz
might be tough, pug, because of the many different meanings and constructions. But never say never. If they had told me everybody would have a computer and a cellphone before I was 50, I would have told them no way.
Sprite are you going to the clinic tomorrow, which is my tuesday
yes, tomorrow. On Tuesday. Around 4 am babble time.
Well I wish you all the best! I know you will be just fine, know we are all with you. But I think you will find you already have all the answers right inside yourself
:) I love your vote of confidence, pug. But I know I need help. This is too complex to tackle all by myself. Impossible to keep the necessary distance.
I dont know what happen to our Rose. She was on here. Don got home, but, she has caught his germs
omg, she has pneumonia too? And yesterday she thought she would get off with just a case of the sniffles :(
sounded like it and she has to go to doctor in a few days
<--- worried
she just cant keep herself out of trouble-lol yeah me too--she sure dosent need this now
definitely not. But glad Don is home again. One step in the right direction.
lol... yesterday elmo was in the grid, and today it is oscar.
lol--youre right
Sprite, did you know that there were so many support groups in this world? All these problems are over whelming
no, there are things among them I never even heard of. Amazing.
yeah me too! and some of their stories are awful
it is a good thing there are support groups. People who know about it who can help eachother... best way there is.
its amazing all those reaching out for peace of body and mind
You are so right and I bet most of them dont have the money to go for help
even with money or good insurance it is still a struggle to find the right help.
you just never know who you touch or life change with just a few words
thats so true
I have found that knowing that some people really care can make all the difference. Does for me, anyway.
I think you're right. Same for me, just knowing someone really cares means alot.
well I care about you, for sure :)
I had a very special friend that I met at our church and she made all the different in my life.(If I could pick someone I would like to be like it would be her). She always went the extra mile for you. When my bh was into the bottle very badly, she held my hand through some real bad times. Her name was Becky and she was like a mother figure. She had six kids of her own, yet she went way beyond to help a friend in need
she sounds really special. What happened?
Oh Sprite--hugs--I feel the same towards you too.
*hugs* right back at ya
She passed away from cancer in 2005. It was like losing my mother again
how horrible. For her family and for you. So sorry, hun.
I had no way to really pay her back for what she done. But our newspaper ran a thing about how you felt about your mother(think it was around mother day) Anyway I wrote about her and sent it in.She was very pleased with it and took it to church and read it before them.So I hope by that she knew how much she meant to me
brb need coffee
she already knew without you having to say it, I think, pug.
back, sprite answered your email.
back!
hi hun, wb! Glad to read it... was a bit worried.
so how is Don doing? Quiet and friendly or demanding and fussy? :)
hey ya pugs, dear
Hugs Rose, hate to hear you under the weather. Must of got those germs from kissy facing! lol
no, he's quiet and friendly. just the cough...in fact he's been getting up and down for me. SIL is going to keep mother mac for at least 4 more days.
duh...you think, pugs? well i'm not giving THAT up...lol
well its too late now anyway! The damage is already done
all this mess from a sweet roll! Like a pebble in a still pond
i got the nurse at the hospital a beauty today. don was standing there with his bag in his hand. and she asked if he was ok to carry it. i said, oh, he'll be fine, he's just had a hernia repair...she nearly had a fit...what gave it away, was everybody started to laugh.
only kissing with a mouth mask from now on
roflol rose
lol
yuck, that's as bad as the other with a raincoat on...
at least 4 more days? How about at least 4 more weeks?
you can even do both at the same time, rose. As long as you are dressed for the occasion
are you going to have to go to the hospital too Rose
lol, or undressed ....lololol
now what am I telling you? Dressed only! :D
no pugs, at the moment i'm still well enough to stay home.
plenty of hot chicken soup is what you both need
I will make a big pot and send it right over
so true. Someone recently told me the whole thing about chickensoup being healthy for sick people is nonsense. I told him he apparently never got chickensoup when ill... duh. You only hvae to eat it to feel how much good it does.
yup, and yup
if it was so bogus then why has that stuck around for centries
exactly, pugs.
that too. Empiric proof.
btw, am typing with only one hand, having the nebuliser.
Iam not sick but a pot of it sounds good right now
good for you, rose. Type away with one hand. Don't mind any typos or whatever.
you got toes too, you know--lol
ooh, yeah....i had minestroni for lunch. doc was concerned as i was dehydrated...so am being very good, am up to my 3rd bourbon and lemonade, in a tall glass.
*pictures rose typing with her toes*
Rose, I found that book you told me about(the one about your country) its 52 dollars here--so I will have to save a bit to get it
roflollllllll
rose, you are one amazing woman :D
try not to sprite. it will do your head in...lol
you, as a nurse, do know that alcohol dehydrates, right?
*giggle* I can do without my head for a bit, jeezzz. All that thinking can't be healthy.
I thought Alco. was a dehydrater, Rose and should you mix that with meds?
but i'm drinking lots of lemonade....doesn't that balance it out?
you are being naughty!
hehehe I don't know. Guess you earned the right to decide that for yourself, lol.
NO! and Iam sure the doctor would see it our way
of course, i am. would you have me any other way?
you are perfect, just the way you are
Yes, I would like to see you well! Naughty and well
pugs, please remind which book it was again...
gotta look it up--give me a sec
Is it by Dark? Iam not seeing too well in the dark here. Its about Aust. kind of like the history of it
yes, eleanor dark...the timeless land...i remember now. let me have a look around hun, and see what i can do
Is that a high price for that
I might find someone that will let me use their library card to get it to read
hmmm, $52 american, yes a tad high...
maybe second hand?
is it a really old book---that was on Anazon and I didnt notice if it was or not Sprite
published in 1941
you think thats why its at that cost? I will have to go to Amazon and see if they got it used
okay, have found the whole trilogy, pugs. will send them over. enjoy.
isn't rose a darling :)
Rose you send the cost too,please---yes she is Sprite and thats too much
yes, pugs, 1941, 1948, 1953.
thank you x 100 and more
will I find you in any of it? lol
lol, pugs, i can get all three books for just over half the cost you quoted. even with postage, they will be under that quote, and you will be getting 3 books, not one
cheeky, pugs....
hugs a bunch Rose
the land before time... Flatfoot the dinosaur... and granny rose.
giggles
so long as i'm not the flat-footed dinosaur
no, you're his grandma
*giggles and starts running*
grannyrosesaurous
*throws pillows at sprite* you cheeky possum
roflol
*dissolves in laughter*
aha, there you are!!! WHUMP
no hiding from our rose
and I bet she threw her goose-feather down homemade pillow too
*feathers flying everywhere*
oh, dear...LOLOL...pugs, you even think like me
:D :D
*begs for mercy*
not to change the subject but have either of you heard anything from Mrs Ruby lately
*tickle, tickle* no mercy....
yes, she was on yesterday. Bit stressed, but otherwise ok.
she was on last night....seemed to be okay
NOT under the feet, rose, NOT under the feet!
stop it Rose, shes gonna wet herself
nope, using feather, and under the arms.....
okay, thanks
oh, that is ok, I can handle that
or would you rather i used the whole chook?
can't, rose. Chook is all cooked up for the chicken soup.
all of it Rose, she needs a good laughing fit
roflol....sprite....and so agree, pugs, we need to keep our sprite laughing, releases all those lovely endorphins.
you guys are better for my health than all medicines combined
sprite, i read about your BSL's. wtg hun. so about time the meds kicked in.
I dont need fireworks from the grid--being here chatting with friends is my fireworks
am happy with it, rose. Am doing reasonable with the eating as well. Just made myself a good proteine breakfast.
awww, pugs, too sweet of you to say so. thanx, hun
we need to rant on Joso,,chips all day! He knows better!
missing him. Silly man, all sick and not able to chat with us
ahhh, let him be, pugs. he probably needed the salt....he is pretty good about taking care of him.
pretty soon we will see Sprite on her profile looking like on of those models guys druel over
we all need to step out of the pattern now and again.
weird, don and i have eliminated most fats from our diet...if we eat anything remotely fatty, we both end up running to the loo.
roflol pug, never. Not even close. They actually don't advice it, did you know? About 10% of body weight for starters would be more than enough.
yeah maybe so but hes sick and all by himself--what if he goes into a coma or has a stroke
sounds smart then, rose. It is hard on the liver, all the fatty stuff. Tasty though... sigh.
hey, pugs, she is already like one of those models...not saying a model of what...maybe, sweetness, caring, honesty...
awww that is a sweet thing to say
and loving, discerning....and, and, and
and loving, discerning....and, and, and
and loving, discerning....and, and, and
joso is a pro, pug. He takes good care of himself and knows what to look out for.
darn...this finger is driving me nuts.
I love you both just the way you are. though I dont know what that looks like but I got pictures of angels of you both
*blushing vehemently*
well Rose running to the loo is exercising
I look like the Michelin man, mostly
pugs, click on my profile...that well-rounded female with baby braxton in her arms? c'est moi...
how did the race end yesterday, rose? Did you have a blast watching?
rose, you have the sweetest face. Seriously.
oh, yeah, sprite. as expected the spaniards were on top, valentino rossi didn't make it to the podium, thank goodness
I did see those but dont remember a very good profile of you.Thinking mostly side and backside shots
lol, backside not my best angle...
I need to break down and go for glasses one of these days.Right now Iam using drug store glasses--lol
this is an old pic of me... before I turned into a michelin man: http://tinyurl.com/pggrl2d
you don't like rossi? Glad you had fun :)
I dont have a good angle---a ball looks the same at any angle
sprite, he needs taking down a peg or two. the kid doesn't know the meaning of humble.
I will look that up as soon as I leave here,Sprite
ah, that kind of guy. Losing is good for them.
's ok, pug :)
yeah, our casey stoner was such a lovely person, and so is pederosa, maquez, lorenzo, crutchlow, edwards...oh, i could go on and on.
bragging is never attractive, is it.
is any of those from your town,Rose
casey stoner is, pugs. he has retired from racing . he was just so self-effacing. beautiful manners, and kept his cool no matter what. except for the one time rossi did the dirty on him during a race.
did you ever get to meet him in person
I wish that H was up near the c and t
amen to that, pug
yes, pugs. i once was a member of MRAA. a motorcycle advocate group. we ran a group ride every year to philip island. we had different stars to wave the riders off each year.
i have met mick doohan, leisl jones...gosh so many....but they were my fave's
did you have your own bike? How exciting
own bike? no!! sadly...there is one in the garage awaiting for me...it will depend on whether i can get the leg over the seat or not..
*sends healing vibes to rose* I demand a picture when you do!
lolol, you're on hun
well they do make sidecars--and Don can drive you around
looks at pug... our rose... in a side car??? Think again, hun, lololollll
yeah I can just picture you and the name of your club" bad ass girls with bad ass toys" lol
lol
well it is part of the bike until shes healed
nah, we are talking about joining the ulysseans. their motto...grow old disgracefully....i think i can do that.
you can't, rose. You are always graceful.
thats right! you couldnt own a tutu if you werent
ooohhhh, what i could say to that comment does not bear saying....
lol
*giggles*
oh my... just got a text message from the clinic to remind me of my appt for tomorrow. They reallly go the extra mile, don't they?
Ive tried standing on my toe tips, and that was a joke in the making
nice, sprite. my surgery does that also. makes you feel special, in a good way.
did some serious ballet dancing as a teen. Grow out of that, literally, lol.
the sooner you go the sooner you are healed
must get used to it, rose. My first reaction was... shit... did they change the time?... where is my letter.... no, same time... what is up then... oh wait...
did i tell you that my right femur and tibia are both bowed...from the ballet that i did from 8-15 years old.
Ive never even had a pair of heels except on my cowboy boots --if that counts
good morning.
omg rose, that is horrible. Didn't you have a good teacher?
I'll red over the chog (at east a little) to try and catch up.
good morning ruby :)
Hugs Ruby! was worried about you
aha, ruby!!!{{hugs}}
heels on cowboy boots count, of course! Very elegant.
sprite, my right side is dominant, i danced mostly on the right leg...
we are talking about short heels not 3 inches or more
she should have seen that and corrected it. Does it bother you much, rose?
which leg is the one you hurt Rose
pug, you are beautiful just the way you are. No matter how high your heels.
nope, it only showed up in the 3D scan which my surgeon ordered
its just I think heels are so pretty and I have not one ideal how to walk in them or even stand in them
pugs, the right one. * grins ruefully*
may have contributed to the pain? Or not?
pugs, practice, dear. practice.
not sure, sprite.
oh Rose, thats not too grand. So are you bowleged as well? lol
for high heels, you need to stand tall and stretch your legs. Small steps with almost straight legs. Hell for feet and back. But yeah, it looks nice :)
just on the right, pugs, my left leg is as straight as a die.
sorry, I know its not funny--just had to say that
If any of you was as short as I, you would have worn heels. When I dress up (very rarely now), I still wear 4 in heels, often with platforms. I'm still not and I can still dance in them loltall enough, but it makes me feel less nidget-y/
it's so funny, watching the young ones strutting around in heels, with absolutely no idea on how to walk.
ruby is small but lovely.
not tall enough*
and sprite is a sweetheart and does NOT look like the Michelin man
rose, too true! I often think I'd like to teach them. Jeezzz. Those bent knees. Ug-ly.
hey, ruby...good things come in small packages...lol
Maybe pumps ruby
aw thanks ruby.
hiya ruru!
No one in my family ever wore heels and I just never thought about it---why need heels in the barn
and heeeee-eeere's ruru. g'day mate
hi Ru
when I worked, I wore custom suits with silk shirts and very high heels. Since I was the only woman in that industry, I could set my own standards
pug, no need for heels at all if you don't feel like them.
i am so circumspect about heels nowadays. how about you ruru? heels or no?
giggles
Heels aren't for me either :D
Heels aren't for me either :D
I used to be 5 1 but not any more
aw but they show off your legs so prettily, ruru
add in a tutu, and a ti5. mind-blowing pictures...lol
Ruby I bet you are still beautiful
yeah and standing in line at the movies in NY
she is, pug. A very handsome lady, our ruby. Smashing eyes.
maybe from the back lol
i have a snapshot, taken during when i did my training, of one of our top urologists, in a tutu, and hiking boots. i regularly remind him of that fact.
the wrinkles are getting wrinkles of their own
blackmail material, rose :)
lol, ruby...bring on the steam iron, hun
wrinkles are good. Wrinkles are badges of honor.
we all got em Ruby but it only adds to the beauty on some
hell with the steam iron, I need the sauna
fireflies
then you get teddy-bear fingers as well....
yay sprite
WTG SPRITE!!!
teddybear fingers?
yeah, when you finger-tips go all wrinkly from warm water.
I am guessing that urologist was pissed about that photo
I am guessing that urologist was pissed about that photo
I am guessing that urologist was pissed about that photo
w2g Sprite
am gonna love and leave you guys. Am gonna take a long shower, wash my hair and make sure I will feel ok in my skin tomorrow. See you tomorrow morning, maybe :)
oh, dear...ruru, you are so funny...LOLOL
bye Sprite and good luck tomorrow--hugs
um, ruru....get off the enter key....or are you asleep? pokes ruru gently...with my finger of course.
sprite has the most beautiful, shiny hair!
ruby, how are things with you?
sprite, good luck for tomorrow, dear. i hope it is all successful.
thank you all :) *hugs*
I'm OK just totally bitten up by mysterious, invisible insects, living on Benadryl
like itchy type bites
I scratch as much as the dogs
ruby, have advised you before. apply personal insect repellant after the bites as well as before. something in the repellant neutralises the saliva of the insect, and reduces the itchiness.
the bites are happening during the night. It's disgusting
my girlfriend was getting bit by something this week-end too.And we never seen one bug.I was right beside her and didnt get one bite
same applies, pugs. use the personal insect repellant afterwards.
I don't think it's fleas....bedbugs???? aaack
maybe its some kind of mite--they are so tiny you may not see them with the eye
hmmmm, bedbugs....do you have a surface spray? or a steam floor cleaner?
I don't think it's bedbugs as husband isn't being bitten and I think you can tell
Housekeeper is vacuuming the mattress as we speak
yeah, that was my next question...is burt being bitten also.
you sure its bites and not some kind of hives from something you've ate or washed your clothes in
small problem, compared to everybody else's..... sorry for whining
time to make lunch, see you later kids
no problem is too small
bye Mrs Ruby enjoy your day
later, my dear. enjoy your lunch
rose I didnt say congrats to you on your fws--so w2g!
thanx pugs...how is the grid going for you?
Rose, going to take a break from this--have a wonderful evening and day and Please behave and take care of yourself(in the right way) Hope to see you in the morning.
okay, dearest pugs. see you later
bye Rose and hugs,hugs,hugs

Good day to all. Anyone here?
Good morning Scrabbler - well, it's nearly afternoon here, but good day to you!
almost 7am here and I have 10 more minutes to play before I must get ready for work
I'm trying to guess where u are - have been to the States before and am trying to work out the timezones - my best guess is somewhere between NY and Florida lol
Yes, eastern time zone--in western New York State.
Yayyy for me! Good guessing, being as my UK geography is worse than my world geography lol.
And you? UK?
Yes, northern UK - Liverpool. You've probably never heard of it though lol
hart
oo-er sorry
Haha. Yes, but I don't understand where the term Liverpudlian came from.
Give me a biggie, worzel. Not the easy words.
I wish I could - biggest I've got is a 6 so far
plural of what diamonds are measure in lol
TY
Ca8 de******** to chop someones head off
ra5 and plural ra6 = variant spelling for material used to make furniture
TY, Zoom. A twisty word.
Di7 to scribe for someone.
Or, someone types after you di6.
I mean di7
Have just done some research and the meaning of the suffix pudlian is unknown. There are two other towns in UK that use pudlian - Hartlepool and Blackpool - Blackpudlian and Hartlepudlian.
Thats the one :-)
I did a Google search. Pool became puddle, so to say.
Isle of Wightpulian!! Nah does not work..lol
The whole UK is riddled with weird suffixed - Devon folk are Devonian, Cornwall are Cornish. Strange how they all have different endings
Yes.
Mind you, that said, the UK is riddled with strange folk . . .
me me me!
We have plenty of odd folk here in the US. I fully believe we are devolving back into cavemen.
People from Manchester are Mancunians
Really, hydra? And hello to you! I haven't seen you in a long time.
Oxford is Oxonian.
Well I love the US and it's people - the only issue I have is with the 2nd amendment. Anyway - moving on . . . xx
Hi Scrabbler! And hello zoom and worzel. I have been busy doing exciting things.
hi Hydra - what exciting things have you been doing?
Glasgow is Glaswegian and Aberdeen folk are Aberdonian.
Hello, Hydra :-)
Worzel, gun rights is a hot topic, for sure.
At 99/90 I must quickly get ready for work. Enjoy the day!
hello
You too, Scrabbler.
indeed.up here we hsake our heads with the ease with wich amricans can arm themselves with handguns and get permits to not only carry but carry concealed.it is almost unheard of here and a very rare permit
Yes, Scrabbler - that's why I moved on quickly lol. We, too, have some strange laws - if you are pregnant you are allowed in public to urinate in a policemans helmet. I doubt it's ever been used, but it's never been repealed
good morning everyone:)
Hello, Fan.
I feared you might ask that, worzel. It's a very long story. The brief version is, I sold an article to a magazine about how I found my daughter after 36 years apart (adoption) and they got her up from Devon for a photo session on Wednesday, which of course was the anniversary of 9/11. The photographer set up a tripod on the balcony and next thing, there was an armed SWAT team at the door. We were right opposite the MI6 HQ and they thought we were terrorists!!!
Hello, Crossy.
hi cross
Hi zooz
lol@ urinating in a policvemans helmet
Then yesterday was my partner's birthday party so I've been too busy to Babble!
Dear me, Hydra, that really DOES sound like enough excitement for one day!

Right, I must dash off now and get on with my day. I shall hopefully talk to you all later. Have a good day/evening/night wherever you are and have fun xx

Hello magazinemom and welki
Hi welki and magmom

thanks Annie and Magmom
Annie, is that a book I should read?
crud! Too early in the morning for literary thoughts. LOL
I never read the Last of the Mohicans but I read The Scarlet Letter and it is worth reading
How about "The Scarlet Letter"? :)
for sure, flosey
thanks, I'll add it to my list
Last of the Mohicans was a great book. Even if I can't remember who wrote it.
interesting to compare how we view hester prynne's "predicament" to today's views
compare hester prynne to miley cyrus...lol
Today people would just talk about Hester behind her back and shoot her dirty looks in the supermarket.
HA! Annie!!!! LOL - both wear their own scarlet letters :)
Yes, in their own way
probably 45 years since i've read it, should read it again
and that, flosey, should be evidence enough for you to read it - four decades later, i still remember it
me too
annie, where'd you go to high school? i went to springfield gardens, in jamaica
I went to Seward Park on the Lower East Side
a REAL city girl :)
The difference being, Hester was ashamed of her "bad behavior", Cyrus is proud of it.

40 left, taking a break
we're having a very heavy rain
raining here as well.

It's a rainy day all over Babble Land.
thankfully stopping rain in colorado at last
are you anywhere near the flooding Hurshy?
no, my sister is
oh dear, hope she is safe
she is
but it's crazy out there. crazy amount of damage.
There is an active shooter at the Naval Shipyard in Washington, DC
saw a bit of it on the news
oh no. i hate active shooters
oh dear, hope it's no more than threats
Just goes to show that even a place with tons of weapons and people trained to use them, still cannot stop someone with a gun intent on killin.
There are injuries.
thankfully, is that where you live invictus?
No, I live in Texas. I am watching it on CNN. I lived in that area of MD years ago though.
I hope it is just some random crazy person and not someone of any type of ethnicity. Supposedly, they've barricaded themselves in a room.
invictus, have yo ever beento the navy yard?
because if you're white and crazy, you're just crazy because you're crazy. but if you're ethnic and crazy, you're crazy because you're ethnic.
well, coffee didn't wake me up, think I'll crawl back into bed, dozing off here - bbl
name that proper noun! famous grouch
We don't need anyone claiming 'terrorism,' you know.
No, I've never been there. I have driven past it.
secure but not a base like fort hood
I moved back to Texas and flew out of Dulles Airport exactly a week before 9/11.
are any Queens girls left?
are any Queens girls left?
you mean like Anne?
I lived on Ft. Meade and surprisingly at the time, there wasn't even a fence around it. They were just beginning to build the gates when I left.
annie, elki, bichon and me are all from NY
ohhh Queens NY, not Queens Academy
I think Annie is a Brooklyn girl but, from here, that's clse enough for jazz
i was all Anne of Green Gables ing

They say it is a bald, black man.
but, back in the day, NYC public schools were terrific
hey, michael jordan is a bald black man and we love HIM
i would say probably someone who is authorized to be there, employee?
10 victims, including 2 police
Yeah, sounds like a disgruntled employee. They said he is wear a black shirt and black jeans.

My husband is a black man, but not bald. I love him....sometimes.

Sorry to hear that. We're still having ridiculously warm weather. Going to be 104 today and expecting 108 on the weekend....WHEN WILL IT END?!!!
me, too, hurshy!!!!
I have the 10---di, vowel, auto, Mr. Hawthorne's nickname
Wish I could help, hurshy...just started and am finding this grid difficult today.

thanks for en also!
I did type vowel, (bad me) consonant is correct, thanks, hurshy
Good morning, all
Oscar the grouch, hurshy. Didn't see where anyone answered you - lol.

ca 8---having a large head or when you put a "de" in front, then, having no head at all
i think that may be the longest delayed NTPN answer ever :)
thank you annie
I need one more 8
perhaps it's a nasty old P
NTPN??
it's an os 8
name that proper noun
Oscar is a cichlid; why don'tthey accept it?
I need to change the battery in my mouse or else I'll have to get a cat!
it's a what now?
Very annoying
give it some cheese, ruby
A tropical fish which an change its gender depending on the local population

I am feeling frustrated; my mouse won't move
Bye
phone, be back later
Just ordered a new wireless mouse from Amazon that apparently will work on most any surface and doesn't need a battery change for 18 months...hope it works as well as they claim...only $16.
somebody wrote about how that is what should have happened in finding nemo... the mom being killed, the dad should have turned female and then nemo being born and finding only a female around would have become male and mated with the other fish
and how that would be so much more interesting than what disney did and why didn't they do that instead
Takes transgender to a whole other level...

I would have said all those bicycle riders in spandex.
hehe
done
>---past the spandex age :D
my father in law still does the spandex bicycle thing...
In my opinion, spandex serves no useful purpose, even on the most fit.
my opinion is that you have to have a lot of balls to wear it in the public
Yeah, well, it's like a Speedo. If I want to see what you're packin', I'll get you naked.
it is a bit icky.
but it must be functional or they wouldn't wear it
It looks uncomfortable to me
It doesn't get much more uncomfortable looking to be dressed in spandex, bent over with a plastic bicycle seat up your butt.
i hear that
those seats are really uncomfortable
I fail to see the joy in this "pastime".
I see the joy in the exercise.. however these endurance things ... that's another matter.
Oh I see a lot of joy in exercise. But not exercise that entails discomfort and idiot clothing.

Mornin' folks
Hi Bich. How is Mr. Bich today after his wonderful showing on the quiz show?
They invited him back today to play. So off he goes
That is great!!!
We were both so hyper when he came home late last night. Hard to get to sleep
good morning.
wait, was your husband on that million second quiz show?
hi phand
He did so well. I'm glad they called him back. Let us know when he will be on the air again.
I don't think I can spend another day like yester.
Funny story. When my 5 y.o. granddaughter saw him in the chair she thought he was on a space ship and would rocket off forever
It did look like a space ship chair. : D
how cool is that! I wish I had known.
She was kind of upset
If he's on again today, I'll let everyone here know. Mr. B. was very touched by all your support
Oh no, no. She can't be upset. That is granpa's special chair, because he is so smart.
She didn't see it that way
Kids have their own logic.
I must say that although I babble daily and lurk 99.9% of the time, I do read chat and feel sort of a connection to this babble community. It was exciting for me to see Erhard last night! Was cheering him on from OKC area!
Great thanks lexo. My former foster dog went to a great lady in OKC
my heart was in my throat, lol... can't imagine how you felt, bichon... he did SO well... was very impressed with his composure :0)
Yes, I was very impressed with his composure, not with my lack of it. He's been on game shows before; Jeopardy and Millionaire
i would become a blathering idiot... have always suffered from "stage fright"... can speak brilliantly to a group as long as I'm seated, but the moment I stand up, the knees, tongue and brain liquefy... sigh... such is life
His composure was impressive. Especially when compared with some of his competition.
He is 66 years old. Some of the contestants were just babes
He must be happy about being asked to come back.
Yes, I don't know how happy is boss is to lose him for at least one day.
Well, you must let him know what a fan base he has. I look forward to watching him again.
please could i have a clue for the 10
He was so happy to hear about all of you on this chat log cheering him on

Hi...bye...Bye...hi...
hi molly :-)
Sue...I see a smiley face in your moon. : )
the man in the moon is laughing at us...
Oh damn...moon icon...lest that be misconstrued...
misconstruction is in the eye of the misconstructor.
(if that's even the right set of nouns...)
Say that three times fast...
lol
Kind of a fancy way of saying "takes one to know one"
there's actually a fascinating little movie if you go to the apod (astronomy picture of the day) site
we only see one side of the moon from Earth, but there is now an orbiter that has mapped the whole thing, so the movie shows it rotating
What www.apod.com??
apod.nasa.gov
Thank you.
Or a fancy way of saying "he who smelt it dealt it"
the full link is in my profile (near the top; my profile is about 80 pages long now, I think)
Oh my God, it is pretty long
I think you need a blog page Sue : )
after Frank gets another clean scan I may take out alll the stuff about him - be another couple of months
I have one - this is it :-)
Oh for frick sake..can't watch it as i need adobe flash player...and yes thats right..xbox360 does not have it.
Yay! Can't wait for the next clean sc4!!

Now that is the weirdist thing, Sue..it lets me watch youtube videos...how dumb is that?
Throw me a link :-)
Or the name of the youtube video.

Use your brain zoz...it probably is apod.nasa

* am not very good mind..and would never play for money..but it is fun and passes the time away on a rainy day..lol
not a great poker player myself, only play if I've written off my stake when I sit down. just recognising a good game.
I lost 100,000 chips today on a game...i had pocket JJ and then a 3 came out other ones then another 3 so i went all in..and the sod had three of a kind :-((
I have a friend who plays a lot, generally comes out ahead, but he always has a new story of how some less skilled player got lucky on the river card. lol
tsk wish that was me..although to be fair i have had my share of good fortune too.
BBL
my problem is I get bored, start out with a disciplined game, but as the game goes on i bet more and more often just to have something to do.

I don't get HBO either, Peri. And all the quality shows seem to be on the premium cable channels these days.
No HBO here either. As a matter of fact, we are leaving cable and going to antennae, I think.
so true, Molly -- I pay a ridiculous amount for HBO but the dramas are just so freakin' good . . . Newsroom, Treme, Boardwalk Empire, etc. . . . and the documentaries are so well done, so thought-provoking . .
of course, eventually you can get them all from your local library . . .
ok. . . BBL to finish last 68 . . .

does he drive to NY each time to play?
no, he takes the train
ah...is Mr. retired?
No, but I am. I guess his boss doesn't mind his taking off
nice....i guess it's addictive in a way...
He has a lot of Facebook friends who are cheering him on

Une is on the Breaking Bad joke bandwagon : )
mourning my show . . . only 2 more episodes!
Honestly? I'll be glad to see it end. That show depresses me more than any other show I have ever watched.
i think it's fantastic . . . does that make me a tres disturbed individual? :-)
Well if it does, then you are in good company. Many people think the same.
me too une, we disturbed folk are much more interesting than the mundanes
:-D
It's a very disturbing show.
there are so many stoopid shows on tv . . . I really enjoy those with creative, unpredictable story lines . . . with outstanding writing and acting . . .
I still miss Six Feet Under
six feet was good, but they were running out of stories.
BB seems as fresh as when it started
Molly, the funny thing is . . . Breaking Bad and Hell on Wheels are 2 of the shows I have fun discussing with one of the guys who works at our soup kitchen -- me and the until-recently-homeless guys :-)
I am soooo far our of the demographic for most shows I like LOL!!
but watching a reasonably moral man slowly deconstruct step by step is disturbing, fascinating at the same time
*out
true, joso . . .
une, is the main character now sick again?
yes
but . . . I don't think he'll die of cancer :-)
yes, but that seems to be the least of his problems
ah. i caught part of a bb marathon while cat sitting.
it was more like tv sitting
tv = my drug of choice
one of my daughter's friends used to house/dogsit for me -- he loved it -- it was basically an excuse for him to binge-On Demand watch! LOL
me too mab
i wonder who will get him first, the good guys or the bad. I suppose that's the point.
Une, won't you be surprised when he doesn't die at all.
always a possibility . . .
i think he will go back to where he started, with cancer and unable to afford treatment
now that one can no longer just turn the tv on, now that one must pay an unconscionable amount of money, i don't have it.
of course, you can get lots of great TV series on DVD from your local library . . .
true, every gangster has getaway money, like tony soprano (all of which i saw via netflix).
makes me so sad that Gandolfini's gone . . .
loved sopranos
terribly sad.
i was actually hugged by Edie Falco in NYC at the stage door after seeing her in 'Night Mother :-)
wow. at a stage door no less.
very cool
i had a conversation with the actor who played Dr. Bellows on I Dream of Jeannie once... ;o)
i was with my daughter -- Edie's character's suicide had me blubbering -- when I told her, she hugged me and said she thought a good cry was usually a good thing :-)
poor befuddled dr. bellows
penquis, my daughter just moved to Orono :-)
really - i was thinking she was mother, with lots of makeup, etc
ah....is she going to school there?....University of Maine is there....
that's a devastating play
the mother was played by british actress . . . . hmmm, can't think of her name
she's working at the university library :-)
cool....Orono is a university town, of course...not far from Bangor, which is a very underrated small city...
Brenda Blethyn!!
hope she'll be happy there -- she had such a great setup at the UMich library
hmm... not familiar with her. if it wasn't judy dench it's unlikely i would be.
she and long-time boyfriend hope to do lots of hiking and camping
very different job, i would think....school must be half the size....
maine is beautiful
but if she likes the outdoors, there is a lot to do in that part of the state
ty, mab...
i have decided that i hate this grid... :o|
first time she's lived where I couldn't drive to see her in 9-10 hrs
22 hr drive would be a bit much LOL!
dogs need to go out -- back in a bit *poof*
I agree penquis. Why is it some grids take on a life of their own and are really off-putting.
Hi Gran Mere
i don't know why that happens....it's not really a function of size either...
Hi Molly. Did clothes washing today. I'm sure it must be good for the soul.
No. It is the words and the angles needed to pick up words.
One can only hope, Gran Mere.
"If you understand English, press 1. If you do not understand English, press 2." (recorded message on an Australian tax helpline, reported in Mail on Sunday, July 30, 2000)
Brenda Blethyn is currently playing a police detective called Vera Stanhope in a series imaginatively called 'Vera'. She has won an Oscar.
that shows you how far outside the zeitgeist I am.
good series, watching it now
Walking, too, is good for the soul ... albeit, perhaps, not for the sole.
i enjoy walking. have you been out walking, o o? how are your soles?
My soles are barely there.
oh my. and your soul?
My soul is in spiritual exile.
sorry to hear that
Not to worry. My will may waiver and hope wane, but ever to fight on.
well put
it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!! There are only 2 people left on the planet who can speak Ayapaneco, they live in the same town but refuse to speak to each other because they do not get along! http://tinyurl.com/42oohnk

very sad
hello all
are all the oc words related?
hi peri
apparently about 3000 languages expected to die in this century
no, but all oc words start with the same 3 letters
ty joso
got three...working on the fourth
actually they all have the same firs 5 letters
tough grid for me but I am plodding along
wich makes it ez if it is the 5 letter one you are looking for
mmm,frost warning tonight here ;((
time to check out the thermal sleeping bag crossy
hehe
got them all, joso...
it will go down to close to freezing here tonight, too....
not yet.i do not even turn the heat on in here till the day i wake up and find a scrim of ice on the toilet bowl water;))
when we had a cottage up there my dad rigged heating for the pipes so we could turn off people heat during the week
lol@ people heat vs water heat
we used to have that cable wrap for the pipes as well
You are tough people, Crossy.
not really, stidmere. when it gets up to anything over 80f i am a total heat rashed disaster.
minus 40f however does not bother me too much
what we called it, but I think dad touught of it as 'not replace the plumbing heat'
yes, nothing like replacing 25 elbows in the plumbing system to make one take care that it does not happen again
I'm glad the weather suits you, Crossy. I am mid-latitudes and mid-temperatures also.
crossy is jus a big ole cuddly polar bear:)
a wrap sounds so much easier than what dad did. he boxed all the pipes and blew hot air down the box
I much prefer warm/hot weather without humidity. if it is below 70 degrees F I am cold
Nothing like survival to bring out inventiveness!
my perfect day is 65-70 f with a bit of sun and a light breeze
We think of the 50 degrees Farenheit as comfortable.
I like seasons, spent one christmas in florida and it felt like we skipped xmas
May you have many perfect days Crossy.
and you as well, stidmere
The old saw: Necessity is the mother of invention.
ty crossy.
help with first ra6/24 pls
ra6, spoiled butter or milk
ty joso
I hate it when I can't even see a word on morewords.
crossy love a bright cold january day. sun glistening off the snow pack like diamonds. cold enough so you hear it crunch and crack under your snowshoes on the trail, the sun beaming in your face and the frosty air cleansing your lungs. then it is back to the cottage for hot mulled ciders and bowls of stew with thick crusy bread slathered in creamery butter and a nice game of scrabble in front of the fireplace:)
crusty
phantom: -penia: A word ending that indicates deficiency. Example: sideropenia - An abnormally low level of iron in the blood serum.
I'll warm up the Scrabble board for you and get the chain saw ready to cut the bread.
hehe
i think crossy lives in a norman rockwell painting
lol,not quite, mab
or the canadian equivalent
pretty fish in your icon, mab
Well, I think of magazines and stories as helping us frame our own experiences. Pictures just do it better.
well, sounds nice
you do not see the agony of splitting a bush cord of firewood for the fireplace, clearing the trail to get there and hauling in the tanks of propane and kerosene for the lamps
I need to do a bit of research so will sign off for now. Happy Babbling to you all.
thanks peri. no idea what it is.
bye
more like Northern Exposure, Crossy?
oh, i suspected as much, crossy.
don,t know.do not know the show.have heard of it however
yes, northern exposure. loved that show.
I liked that show

No cell phone or gps in my cavern.

i think o o lives in an abandoned ballistic missile silo
those are nice:)) well controlled environmental controls, nice secure hatch doors made of steel:) all that lovely grated steel walkways
though if your kid needs a time out,you cannot tell him to sit in a corner

I live with a perception acquired decades ago that has no relevance to the present ... from which I have been trying to escape from with mixed results at best.
i have not been keeping up with the news.what is going on in DC?
all the brillo pads one would need for cleaning
shooting at a naval facility
civilian contractor killed at least 12 people. he was shot as well
:(
he was ex navy though - dismissed for undisclosed reasons some time ago. Morning all
howdy,lynxx
The killings will go on as long as gun manufacturers found campaigns and Americans prize guns over live.

mm,i was trying to tread lightly on that o-o but you are correct.soon visitors to the states will have to rent a gun when they rent their car when they land

ta5.12 what you get at spanish restaurants
true o-o
ty lyn, and FW
oops but change the second vwl in the spanish ta5
hahah lynxxx at first I tried tapas from your clue
woo hoo peri!
Congrats Peri
sorry Dan
it's actually a rug...congrats peri!
I think what you get at spanish restaurants is spelled with a different second vowel but I got the clue anyway
bye for now
bye Peri
oh and then I thought you were really cluing ta5/12 that also comes on some mexican food trucks :-)
my brother live in NV and says getting a hand gun and a permit to carry and carry concealed is about as hard as super sizing your fries at McDonalds.
anyway, I got a lot of help from your clues :-)
scary - I am still unconfortable seeing police here carrying handguns as the 'norm' - not sure I could go where everyone carries them
interestingly, canadians have plenty of guns but far, far less violence than in the u.s.
our laws are much, much tighter, mab just getting a handgun perit is a long drawn out process and as for a permit to carry or carry concealed? that is only for a special few
plus they have 300 odd million people while we have aabout 30 million
give or take
canadians, on the whole, seem far less crazed than u.s. citizens. we also have each state legislating its own laws regarding guns.
is the difference drugs?
the 'stand your ground' law of florida is just about the worst law in memory
when i used to hunt,i had a old russian 60,s era 7.62 mm rife that was army surplus.i had it modified to chamber .308 rounds but because it was still technically a millitary firearm, i had to always report to the police when i had it on the move on roads to and from the hunt camp...well,we have our crazies too,it is just they do not have as much free access as american crazies do to guns is all
it is a lot of things, but gangs and drugs are certainly part of it
"The United States has 5 percent of the world's population and 25 percent of the world's incarcerated population.
shocking
that's largely due to racism
even eric holder says so
up here,we do not care about your race, creed or colour or sexual preference as long as yopu pay your taxes to we can keep the universal health care paid for lol!
Yet, my congressional delegation will not vote for sensible (a relative term) background checks because checks may inconvenience the constituents that keep them in office.
our citizens get angry when universal health care comes up
or obama care, as it's known
well, death by hand gun is a inconveinience, is it not?
grumble, grumble.... something wrong with this country....
guns first ... death is an unfortunate bit of collateral damage.
yes, ask trayvon martin
I don't understand the resistance to universal health care in the US. Its not perfect here but it is a good start
i don't get it either
i also do not understand, sure beats insurance driven health care and small mom and pop stores forced to carry it for employeess
some people here have an irrational fear of socialism, but mainly i think its just that we have a lot of stupid people
now.grant you oures is not perfect but EVERYONE is covered
If I could enact and enforce laws, all who run for office must first serve in the front lines of a combat zone and live as a homeless person for a year.
oddly enough the hardest DR for us to see in our area is a OBGYN
agreed o-o
i agree; many politicians are so far removed from what the poor and middle class go through
mitt romney
clueless
Could I get a clue for na6/18, please?

hello everyone - back from our trip
I'm learning that there are a lot of words I don't know from this grid.
now it is time for crossy,s word of the day!! today's word is "pluviophile" and it means a lover of rain or rainy days:)
hi C'nan - where did you get to?
good word
I think that there are very few pluviophiles in Colorado these days.
alberta and saskatchewan - visiting kids and hubby's sisters
cyber, did you convert your sister in law to babblism?
not sure - just got home and signed on -- haven't seen her yet, but did get her signed up

but my da always said "never ever worry about losing your mind because when it happens, you will not know it"
i tripped upon that word. the root is something like evil, or some other nontangible thing brought to life
di10, non corporeal, like a ghost (think reversing jesus's coming back from the dead)
with a di in front
Crossy, you stop worrying about losing your mind when you notice so many people seeming to do so well without theirs.

Sometimes I have trouble with words that I have found and I was sure I had entered, but it seems I did not.
fireworks!
congrats!

congrats Sue
It looks like it could be the Greek spelling of a popular childrens singer.
wtg sue.
sometimes Babble does lose them wht
I think so, but sometimes the word is so obvious I think I must have entered it.
that clue, such as it was, was for the ra6.
second ra6/24 is r + a5/14
