oh, and sprite, pugs. i have told daughter that don and i are unable to go into the hospital for mother's needs. she will have to organise that herself. a touch malicious, perhaps. but i want this to impact on her hard. up til now, don and i have done all the running to and fro.

but I can't lift things, or get out of a chair normally, or sleep normally, or eat much... and of course no insurance. but it's not extravagantly over expensive, just not easy to put together.

yes, rbud. okay...for the time being you are okay. buy some sports tape, non-elastic cloth tape. use it to strap your tummy firmly. it will give your tummy some support.
I'm at that awkward age between when the kids got too old for me to ride on their medical cards, and being old enough for one of my own. but I've applied for a program through the hospital that will get me a discount, waiting for them to sort through it and approve it.
rbud, Medicaid doesn't have an age limit. It covers people who need it.....perhaps you could contact someone there at the hospital or call Medicare and they will tell you whom to contact. Will always be praying for you.

I got an elastic wrap with velcro from the med. supply, it helps.
when you use the tape, paint your tummy with tincture of benzoin, or friar's balsam. it protects your skin and helps the tape stick longer.

I suppose I should look into it, but they pretty much told me when Hubs got on disability that there was nothing for me. and the surgery is "elective" - bah.

I think mine just grew over the years from a little one I'd had since the last kid was born, with normal lifting, etc. Then this spring I was so sick I coughed for days, and it got worse. Plus I tried to help Hubby up when he fell a few times lately.
mine didnt pop out until working at the nursing home,lifting people.But Ive always packed feed bags and hay when I had horses

Peach, there is a site called Daily Strength and there is a group that Sprite pointed me to called Dont Give Up (isnt Sprite?) and they have some beautiful poems and up lifting stories that makes you feel really good. Plus they have a support group for anything under the sun.

well, our church makes up baskets of food, about 20-30 for one of our local primary schools. the social worker there works out which families need them, and passes them on. we do it 3-4 times per year.

*grin* when we make up the school baskets we try to include stuff like candy, and even vouchers for a 'fat' food chain. it gives them a treat they would not other-wise have.
we have one about a mile from my home but the people didnt make you feel welcome, and where I use to go, our pastor had a stroke and is no longer there.
*fast* but fat works too, lol
so many of the churches wants to be a place of entertainment and except things thats not to God's words
and yes it is a treat, when your diet is only the recommended amounts from the food pyramid. i don't think the occasional treat like that is out of the question.

I miss when we were kids going around homes of the elderly singing christmas carols
that's the problem with the young families of today. restraint is not taught as a basic habit...and then they wonder why our kids are overweight. it's not the fast food places at fault, it's the parents for not teaching self-restraint.
very very true, rose. Am happy to say that even with my eating disorder we raised our kids slim and healthy.
once on a camping trip with our horses we went to a church service on horseback in the mountains. It was so beautiful there and was such a touching service too

Tired, bugs, virus #2 in 5 days. I think I am over it, but have a lingering cough and congestion. LOVE the kids, though! Having a great time actually TEACHING instead of only being in charge of keeping someone's kids "safe" and contained...
Everyone gets sick the first month of school. You will become more immune as years go by. I did find a bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk and asking the janitors to wipe down all the desktops with an antiseptic each night helped a LOT.

I asked for antiseptic wipes from the custodian yesterday, but was so tired today that I didn't wipe things down before I left. I will try to leave early tomorrow so I can do it before kids come in for the day.
