Hello Rose--I thought everyone had left
I'm here, Rose. I was wondering where you were.
whoot, the gang's here...how is everyone today?
kinda got side-tracked by a husband....
I'm doing OK tonight. How are you and puglet?
Im crawing through this grid
peach, almost back to my usual self.
Iam just fine and dandy
thats so wonderful Rose
That is great to hear.
hey, you know that cruise we did to new zealand, 2 1/2 years ago?
How are you feeling, pug?
well, i have just about finished scrap-booking the trip.
Ive heard you talk about it
Now that's something to be proud of.
You have your fws Rose?
only have one more port to do, and it is done. *shakes head* can't believe it has taken me so long.
yes, dear pugs. looong grid tonight.
then w2g and good job--yes this is a long one
it was rather lovely going through the snap sgots, seeing again all that had amazed us.
*shots*
and seeing groovy kiwi again, in the photos...i do so hope she is well. she didn't answer my la4 email. might be about time i tried again.
Can you post some pics in your profile?
hmmmm. will ash DH to help me. will let you know when i have done so. anything in particular you would like to see?
oh, gosh, my typing is so up the spout...* ask *
All of it. LOL Just whatever you like. We will love any part of the trip.
might have to censor some....nah, not really. but it would be nice to have some pics of groovy kiwi in my flicker photos.
will they be posted with in 2 years? lol
Yes, please.
ha ha ha....
Is Kiwi someone you met on the crise
cruise
pugs, g/kiwi is a long time babble player. she hasn't been around for ages
hmmm, i found her phone number amongst all the photos and stuff...* wonders if himself will let me call new zealand*
and you got to meet her on this cruise you went on
go for it! call
you know my dear friends, one day i am coming to the us of a.. am so looking forward to meeting all my babble buddies..i will probably have to dedicate 6 months to you all
yes, pugs, she lives in wellington. she and her fella drove don and i all over wellington. it was the best time.
then come on down! lol
sounds like a lot of fun
are you sure she still lives there
that
good morning all :)
duh!! that's why i think a phone call is in order
g'day sprite. {{hugs}} and {{kisses}}
Morning Sprite
pug, thanks for your sweet emails! Didn't get a chance to answer them yet, will do so after babble.
*hugs* for rose and pug
enjoy the grid, sprite. pretty smooth sailing, but long.
Good morning, sprite.
hugs back and includes Peach and Rose and okay sprite
am happy with a big one today.
hi peach *hug* How are you today?
Right back attcha.
ooooohhh, a group hug....liii-iike group hugs.
and you, rose, how are you and Don, and how is the Mother Mac care going?
Doing OK today, sprite. How are things with you now?
and you, pug, how are you doing today?
not too bad today. Recovering from therapy day, but only bodily beat, not mentally. Feeling positive.
the mother still in the hospital, and despite everything, i got my hubby back this afternoon, if you know what i mean...nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
by the way I was wondering if that was You Rose and Sprite that I seen on tv in line over there for the new iphone just released? lol
*giggles* Got you, rose. Good for you, both!
lololol...hardly pugs...technophobe of the first order here
You seem so much better, sprite.
More of that dirty dancing I guess-lol
yeah right, must be me, pug, lolollll. *looks at unsmart mobile phone the size of a fridge* Am always the first for that kind of thing ;)
it's very good for expanding the lungs, pugs
it's very good for expanding the lungs, pugs
it's very good for expanding the lungs, pugs
thanks peach :) Yes, feeling better, and slept a whole night without new nightmares.
acckkk....oh well, a point to be made...*giggle*
also very good for expanding your chat posts, rose
must be for the finger too
oh, wow, sprite. that is great news
Prayers are being answered, sprite.
thats good news Sprite. Looks like everyone is on the mend for a change
so very very true, peach. I thank you all and Him up there from the bottom of my heart.
We are just the vehicle thru which HE works. It is always a pleasure to hear good things.
one of my favorite quotes from God is: "God has no hands but ours." Touched me deeply when I first heard it and I still get goosebumps when I think of it.
That is so true.
so true sprite. sometimes it is hard to remember that God is acting through us. particularly when we are angry, or hurt and want to lash out in retaliation.
that reminds me,Sprite have you read the story of God under the bed and the tatoo homeless man on DS, dont give up
no, not yet, will check them out later! Thanks for the heads-up.
they made me cry
indeed, rose, exactly.
*hugs pug* Good tears, I hope.
you know how we feel with the burdens of life at times--I think we get a tiny taste of what Jesus took to the cross..He had the whole world"s burdons
takes quite a guy to carry all that, pug. And remember that Jesus said that all he did, we would do, and more.
hello all - you were talking earlier about groovy kiwi and i have not seen babble rabble for ages - is he still playing ??
Kiwi is no longer playing. BabbleRabble is, under the name of o-o/
sorry, that is o-o without a slash.
when we are dealing with younger generations, it is difficult to remember that they are God's children as well. and our actions and words must come from God. my gosh, i have lost count the number of times when i have had to remind myself, i am to follow God's commands on parenting...lol
oh great thanks sprite nice to know
lol rose, indeed.
and hi ursh :) Good to see you.
oh, thanx, sprite, for info on groovy kiwi
she is still active on facebook, if you want to get in touch.
g'day urshy...all well with you?
all well thank you - we have had some lovely spring rain - so pleased - was very very dry
unfortunately sprite, i have lost my faith in FB. if you could let her know that i would love an email from her..i would be truly grateful.
ah, then rain is a blessing, ursh. Am glad.
good news, urshy. let the flowers grow!!!
will try, rose. Am not much on FB myself anymore, but I think I still have her as a friend.
hi all
hey there, joso.
thanx dear sprite
Hi Joso
well, g'day sir joso. your harem awaits....lol
hi peach, pug, rose
ok, found her and passed the request, rose :)
hiya joso *hugs*
thanx, sprite..prayers going up, here
somehow rose, when yo've just overheard the 'harem' chatting about god it just doesn't feel right to think of it as a harem any more
hi kids1
hey sprite, pink
*giggles* JoSo, I am pretty sure He wouldn't mind.
hi pink :)
joso howdy
Hi ya Pink
pug hiya
pug and joso do you remember we were chatting about popcorn and I suggested pink popcorn?
I don't know sprite, got a real respect for the power of a lightning strike
I remember pink
awww, poor joso...* gently pats shoulder*
hehehe JoSo :D
and g'day pink
I remember
behold my eyes pink kettle corn at the local department store
hey grannylove
lol pink
sprite they stole my idea
they are so evil. I bet they were watching babble chog.
oh, they've been selling it here since I was a kid, comes in a box
all is pink here in prep for breast cancer awareness month (Oct)
ah, that is a good thing.
exactl sprite so be careful with your great ideas
naughty department store...how dare they do that?
will do, grin.
wow joso I never saw it before
maybe a canada thing, pink powdered suger, disgusting stuff, mothers love it as thier child invarriablely ends up well dusted in pink
lol
cheese corn too, but that is yummy
fathers love it as their child invariably ends up well dusted in cheese ;)
it doesn't seem to spread as much, just orange palms
*giggle* Sorry, was just pulling your leg, joso.
I like cheese popcorn
but of corse anything is better with cheese ;)
you are all so out of the loop...lollygobble bliss bombs...popcorn covered in caramel and peanuts....to die for...and i probably will
so would love to show you all our cheese store... you would go wild.
crackerjack
I like crackerjacks too
omg rose, that sounds disgusting, lolllll.
not in a ball, but otherwhise the same thing
and then there are crunchy sugar-coated peanuts....omg....it would blow your mind...not to mention the ta5-buds.
not my thing, to be honest.
I like tha caramel corns, but not the powdered sugar
or chocolate covered peanuts--mmm
but we finally got our own milka chocolate with oreo cookies... and that is a blast!
oh, oh, oh...pugs...
oh pug, yes :)
I havent tried the powered sugar
can anyone else see my waist line expanding?
just from reading the chog. Mine as well, rose.
how about all of ours expanding-lol
All this as I sit here being a good boy with carrot celery sticks for a snack instead if nuking up some popcorn
poor joso...*mind picture of him splashing up and down the pool* to no avail...
you are a hero, joso. Does it help if I tell you I am sitting here with only a glass of water?
I got coffee( and black at that)
I have popcorn just one floor away
I like celery with peanutbutter
roflol pug!
well, i'm not sprite. bourbon and lemonade...well i did burn up all th5 calories this afternoon.
happy with my drink, earl grey tea
hehehe rose, good for you. So glad you are on the mend.
a good tea does wonders
ahh, earl grey tea...yummy
your execise regiem sounds much more interesting than mine
am I the only one drinking coffee
good morning
hiya ruby *hug* :)
pug, I like my special coffee... wiener melange. But otherwise, I don't drink coffee very often.
hi ruby welcome to snack hour
Hey Mrs Ruby! hugs
coffee is a funny thing for me, love the aroma, can't stand the taste
hi ruby
I like tea too but not as well as my coffee
Ruby, the french sugared popcorn, is it powdered sugar of caramel that they use?
already had two big cups of expresso with lots of boiled milk. How disgusting is that?
They just use sugar, caramel, I would like.
As for all those peanut things, I've just developed a (severe) peanut allergy in the last two uyears! Very weird at my age
not at all, ruby, sounds pretty normal. In Dutch that would be called a 'coffee all wrong' (koffie verkeerd) and lots and lots of people here like it that way.
I used to love crackjacks
thats what i assumed, seems well agreed here that all like caramel corn
I dont care for cream or sugar in my coffee but I do like it in my teas
godd morning dear ruby
*good*
I like my tea with a bit of honey
of course, am drinking it without now.
pugs, opposite to me
black tea for me
I like my peas with honey, I've done it all my life, it makes, them taste quite funny but it keeps them on my knife
My sister loves teas, I bet shes got 25 different kinds
Fave childhood rhyme
roflollll Chrissie! I like that!
joso, almost black for me, just wave the milk over the cup/mug
yeach
hahah chrissie, picturing eating peas on a knife!
lol, chrissie...my GRANDFATHER used to quote that...
A A Milne I think
kind of like the dutch joke: Why are you eating your soup with your knife? Cause my fork is leaky.
lol sprite
Now you see why most of o-o's quotes go over my head :)
when he was about 5 my youngest brother labored for a couple of days to come up with an original joke, what he came up with was, why did the boy swollow the spoon; so he could eat with his mouth.
lol, I like yours just as much, Chrissie
awwww that is sweet, joso
he can be that way sometimes, but on the otherhand, when he thought he had a new swear word that dad hadden't heard decided to call dad it thinking dad would believe it was a complement because of the big grinn.
ouch :D
blood drained right out of his face, lol
very risky. I take it your dad made him regret that.
Can just imagine the big grin disappearing
to bed without dinner or something, nothing too harsh. I think the real punishment was dad, caught totaly by suprise shouting a suprised WHAT DID YOU SAY. I think his life flashed
oh, dear, joso
lol, well that made it all clear, for sure
Bro's defense, a stuttered I I I dddin't think you knew that word didn't help him much. lol
speaking of kids... I have this weird son that one moment tells me of in unacceptably rude terms and the next comes home and takes my hand and holds it.
tells me off*
* giggle * made me remember me calling my dad a "sod'...he thought i had something else...he asked, do you know what that means? i said, a lump of dirt...not quite what he was expecting..
roflol joso, no, that wouldn't fly with me either
good one, rose
of course i was alway a perfect angel
of course, of course. Hm-m. Yes, sure.
hehehe, I like it rose

Dear peeps, I must head for my pillows.....it's almost 5:30AM here and hope I can sleep. See y'all later.
night Peach, hugs and sweet dreams
g'nite peach, sleep well
and to hear you talk rose I give you a sexual age of about 17
sleep well, dearest peach. see you on the morrow
roflol....long may i live, joso...
sorry guys Iam not talking much, Iam into a movie here
what's the movie?
s'okay pugs, enjoy it, hun
back. Sleep well, peach!
which movie, pug?
desert flower a bio about this girl from Somaila that turned into a top model
oh, I have read her story, in a magazine once. Enjoy, pug. She is a heroine.
its allmost over--a good movie
okay its over now Iam free to talk--dont know if thats good or bad news for you guys---lol
wb pug, and it is GOOD news :)
definetly good news pug
Sprite is it common that you have to spend the whole day when you go to the clinic--I was going to ask you this before
thanks you guys
I have been in a therapy group for over a year now, pug, that works a full day in the week. And from Sep 30 on, I will do a full day of therapy a week as well, on Mondays. It is not common, most therapies are like 45 minutes per session, once a week.
love to have your company pugs...* huge grin *
I was just wondering because all the ones you go to are all dayers
thank you Rose as I enjoy all of you guys
yes... true. Guess I am a tough cookie to crack. Did years and years of the normal kind of therapy as well. It is a long haul.
I was thinking afters several hours of drilling they would get you to crack--lol
How did you come upon this
hehehe indeed. I learned so much in this last year of therapy.
how long do you have to go to the monday ones now
my psychiatrist suggested it. It is a group run by her colleague, whom I knew as well. And my psych is supervising the whole thing.
as for the clinic I will be going to for the eating disorder, that was suggested to me by my doctor and after I checked it out, I asked my psychiatrist about it and she had good experiences with them.
is everyone in the group have the same problems as what you have
Don't know how long to the Monday one, we will see.
not the Friday group, pug, we all have different issues. But the Monday group will be all people with obesitas and eating disorders.
do YOU think you are ready to leave the friday group
yes. I would have to stop anyway, because the insurance only will pay for one year. But I am ready. Learned what I could there. Now I am ready for a new challenge.
I hope this monday group helps you then and lets you find the answers you are seaking
I hope so too, pug. Am pretty positive about it. They told me I was exactly in the right place, after hearing my story. That gives me confidence.
how many are in your group there
a maximum of 8, but probably 6.
all women?
I wouldn't have been able to start in this group if I hadn't had the experience of last year's group therapy. So it all fits together somehow.
I don't know, pug. Not necessarily.
Maybe you can make a friend there .Someone that you can each hold hands through the process
it is possible. We will see :) For starters I will keep a low profile and watch a lot. I need time to learn to trust others, so I will take that time to get settled.
I understand that totally---plus you get to travel too and that in its self is fun too
by bike and bus and train!
lol... it is taxing, but yes, in a way it is fun too. I am experiencing a sense of freedom that I haven't felt in ages.
while I can see holding back until you are confident of the group, it suprises me a bit to hear you say that, you are so open here sprite.
take the time to enjoy!
thanks joso, that is so good to hear. Yes, I appear very open. For me it is easier to trust people onlline than IRL, to be honest. But you guys have become my friends and I trust you a LOT.
its easier for me here cause you are not looking into anyones eyes
I understand, pug
you know Sprite I was on DS and looking at some of the different groups and there is one for internet addictions---lol--I didnt explore it though
for the most part babble is the most kind enviroment I know
same here for me too Joso
lol pug, you know someone is cured when they no longer post there ;)
I agree, joso. A very special community. Lots of people who truly care.
hehehehehehe
Ive been at other sites and the people can be very rude and uncouth
we have had a few people here who enjoyed unpleasant arguments and fights, but somehow they seem to fade away pretty soon. Babble as a whole is very kind and caring.
Joso you might like the site Daily Strength...it has a group for anything from A-Z---the dont give up group is very uplifting
it is a good one, isn't it pug? I like that group best of all.
I do too--and if not for you I wouldnt had known about it
as you say, sprite, on the whole kind and caring. but some of us have been deeply hurt and are still very angry by other babblers.
just coincidence... or Someone pointing me the right way, grin. Glad to share. Without you, I wouldn't even have known about DS!
I've alway socilized best over a game, gives a defaulf subject to chat about
very true, rose. Especially the whole JC/Nancyboy stuff has hurt people deeply. It is tough to be conned and lied to about such important things.
never thought about that, but it is true, joso.
what was the whole jc/nancyboy thing?
hate to interrupt , but is the site just called daily strentgh?
someone pretending several persons, one famous, one who supposedly got ill and died. Lots of drama. And it was all a fake.
hi ivesy, love it that you join us! The link is: http://www.dailystrength.org/
ty . i am going to take a look. sounds like something i could use..
joso, you didn't miss much, except a lot of angst.
hope to see you there then as well, ivesy. If you want to befriend me, my handle there is spritelet.
I know people like that exist, can't figure out the mind that gets pleasure that way
and ivesy... I don't know anything about your problems, but here's a *hug* to give you a little bit of support.
same from me too ivesy
joso, I couldn't agree more. Must be a pretty pathetic and/or sick mindset that can think up stuff like that. The not-existing Nancyboy was mourned so much by us babblers. And it was not real. That hurts.
ty sprite! well son is a recovering drug addict.is doing well at this time. but its a struggle. and ty both. ! am waiting for email to complete registration.
good luck ivesy, hope it's what you are looking for.
awesome, ivesy. It is a good place to be, also very friendly and supportive. Quite a struggle, for you and your son... is he managing? And are you?
they have a group for parents of drugs addicts too.
he is doing very well. but have been here bfor, where he stays clean, then falls . have heard all the promises.. im afraid i have lost the faith to belive him, though i do try.
I think too that they have prof. there too, dont they sprite
yes, groups are monitored by professionals in that field, they are listed at the right of the page.
what a nightmare ivesy
I can imagine, ivesy. It is hard to keep believing if your faith ahs been crushed so many times. If he weren't your boy, you would never even consider believing him again. But since he is... you try. *hugs* Good for him that he is doing well so far. One day at a time, right?
I know all too well those feelings ivesy. Go through the same thing with my Hubby only his drug is booze
i will be looking at the drug support group for sure!no one can really help so to speak, but sharing with parents of drug addicts takes away the feeling of being alone in the fight
isnt easy pug, is it?
and the dont give up would help you ivesy for yourself
so true, ivesy. And it will give you a place to vent your pain and frustration, and know that the people reading it will truly understand.
pug, such a tough struggle :( *hugs*
no its not ivesy, if it werent for the one above I would of thrown in the towel many many times
booze is an evil drug. One of the worst addictions to overcome, or so they say.
its not just the booze but what all goes with it--the meanness and the money to pay lawyers and the list goes on and on
loving all of you. ivesy, hang in there, hun, you will make it through this, and so will your son.
yes... it influences every part of your life.
loving you right back, rose. You know you are such an inspiration and support to us all, don't you?
Love to you too Rose
Ivesy, one important thing is not to let his addiction bring you down into that hell. And its easy to get caught up in that web
afraid my son has pretty much wiped me out, mentally , physiclaly and finance. always think this one time will make him stop.. finally learned that nothing makes them stop except themselves.
does he live with you, ivesy?
as my cousin says. let go and let god.. and god cant help if i am staning in his way lol
You hit the nail right on the head Ivesy
hehehe nicely puyt
put*
morning all
no, sprite. he has his own place. is on public assistance. but he is now taking a class at the local college and looking for a job. he is also a vet. and thank god for that.. he has been in rehab 3x and detox 2x the last detox seems to have helped
morning Giant
hi glant
hiya Glant *hugs*
g'day glant
ivesy, I am glad he is living on his own. At least there is a door you can close and lock if you need some space for yourself.
ivesy - my cousin's daughter was a drug addict - they were told that she had to hit rock bottom before there was any chance of recovery - and that while they were 'helpinmg' her, they were inadvertently enabling her addiction. they eventually stopped helping her, she hit rock bottom, then they all worked to help and she is completely clean and has been for some years
thats great Giant
I have heard the same kind of story, Glant. Am so glad for your cousin and her daughter.
not that great - sadly the years of addiction have damaged her body, and she is terminally ill, - she will elave a ten yhear old boy to be cared for by others - she is only in her late 30s
oh i know i enabled him. because i always thought if i gave him things it would make him happy and he wouldnt use. took me a long time , and almost having a nervouse breakdown to smarten up. and that is a success story glant!! always happy to hear about an addict gone clean
omg Glant... so sorry. I guess it is slightly less awful than her dying an addict, but not by much. So sorry.
tough-love is hard to put to someone you love
it is very hard to do the tough love thing
ivesy, mothers do. I hope you don't blame yourself. To love them enough to hurt them is something so incredibly tough to learn.
ahh so sorry Giant--how sad--hugs
she was told about 4 years ago that there had been too much damage to her body to live long ar experience good health. Sadly, her mother died of lung cancer in January, and we doubt she will see the year out herself. Drugs are terrible thnings, and the people who puch them are worse.
*push
yes glant.. they dont realize what the drugs do . so sorry to hear that. to this day i live with the fear that my son will overdose and i will find him dead. its never goes away. wow. i havent gotten all this out in so long !! ty
we are here for you ivesy anytime you need to vent
I am a great ebliever in the legalisation and state control of drugs. At least the drugs would be pure and people wouldn;t turn to crime to finance their habits, and maybe young ones would be less interested in trying things out. Also, there'd be no money to be made by criminasl
horrible, Glant. I can't do anything but pray for you all and send you lots of hugs. Yes, drugs pushers should be whipped, salted and shot.
ivesy, so glad you told us. Please vent whenever you need to, we will be here.
i know. and i thank all of you.
sadly, some of the drug pushers are addicts who can only finance their own addictions by selling to others - state drug provision would stop thta too
Glant, we have that here for soft drugs and it works. But a lot of pressure from other european countries to make soft drugs illegal again, alas. They think it promotes use. But I think it takes away a lot of the criminality and risk.
so much evil is done in this world for a purse of money
indeed, Glant. That is a sad thing.
Portugal have been very brave with their stance, and it seems to be working

I also think many addicts - whatever their addiction - suffer from low self esteem. If we changed the education system to make life skills compulsory - especially parenting - we could learn to raise children with hih self esteem, who may not fall into addiction. Money manageent would be good, too!
and now that I have killed the chog, I'll shut up :-)
lol please don't, Glant, the chog will repair itself soon enough.
:-) hoping everybody has just gine quiet because they are reading about portuguese drug policies
ohhhh I SOOO agree! Life skills should be #1 in each and every school. So crazy to learn people how to read maps but not to read people. Etc.
lol, probably!
if we are confident and believe in ourselves, we can learn anything we want to
i just keep quiet as I have no experiance to contribute, fortunately.
I had to go get more coffee so I can exercise running to the BR every 10 seconds and had to put some socks on my cold feet
sorry, my dears, was off getting meds ready. becoming quite late here.
the BR pug?
*giggles at puglet's image, running with the coffee bladder*
oh, got it :-)
and glant, you are always welcome to express and/or vent your feelings here. {{higs}}
you night owl you, rose ;)
I try not to rant too often, but often have an alternative perspective. Sometimes this is a good thing :-)
it's weird, isn't it? click over to 9pm and my inner spring goes twang...lol
I like to read your input, Glant. And feel free to rant whenever you need.
love your inner spring, rose, lollll
its almost 7 am here and Ive been on here since 1--wonder if I do have a problem with the internet
nah, never, pug. You just need your friends.
I think I am a borderline addictive personality. I can live without alcohol for months, but if it is in the hosue, I have to drink it. The concept of a wine cellar is fine in the abstrac, but if I had one it would be empty before long!
my husband is the same, Glant.
and I am definitely an internet addict LOl p b ut that's because that's where all my fiends are!
i don't, sprite. i would love to be able to stay awake until late...my mother always said i was half aborigine...fill my tummy, and i lie down and sleep like the dead.
long past bedtime for me, g'nite all
I know that I shouldn;t buy alcohol, but sometimes I can't resist

uh oh, glant can be a member of our women's group, lol
We were criticize for whining the other day, glant, and I stuck up for all of us, much to some's displeasure
" our women's group' = joso's harem...lol
If we can't vent and discuss and offer advice here, where else?
oh dear
well just finished my registration at daily strength. first group i joined was for families of drug addicts. first thing i see is the post i am almost losing hope!! ty all for getting me to this site
I don;t know why people cricicise - it's not compulsory to read the chog
and joso is an"honorary member" because he listens and is sympathetic
*criticise
awesome, ivesy!
good for you ivesy - I hope it helps you
that's exactly what I said, glant, but in slightly nastier terms lol
great Ivesy--hope you find comfort there
ivesy: that sounds like a wonderful thing
some things are just meant to be. i was here at the rite time.. .amazing lol
serendipity
ruby, sweetheart, I didn't mean to attack you for venting, I was just saying that there is no need for calling names... keep the argument about what people DO and not about what people ARE, and things won't get so heated and unproductive.
a soup is no good with out a bit of spice--lol
sprite: I didn't think you attacked me. You never would. I just think, very rarely, that calling a spade a spade may ne necessary. And I was provoked on the part of my girlfriends
not for myself
you are part of my extended family, sprite
Could I get a clue for he6/24, please?
you are part of mine too Ruby
helloo marc

hehehe, our ruby to the rescue. But I wasn't feeling slighted by o-o. I think we all have a right to speak our minds. I can imagine someone reading chog in the hope for some lifeline or support or distraction they can't bring themselves to ask for. And I can imagine some topics hitting someone on a sore spot as well.

thanks Sprite

ah, thank you!

haha i am surprised i understood your clue flosey! ty
yw jmc odd word
i would have guessed it meant something about change but it seems to a variant spelling meaning to perform majestically
'morning, babblers
ah, thanks jmc, when I clicked on the word, didn't have a meaning
hi welki
It could also be a variant spelling of a word that ends izo that means a person of mixed race. Who knows?
morning welki
beautiful icon Molly
it didn't have a meaning but below it had the word start mae. . . .so that is what i decided. . .
maybe molls
Thanks Flosey, it's a gorgeous harvest moon this year.

stat for the singleton E in the last column please
ES 4/4
es repeat
el 5/16 i think
ty wv and annie
that is the top E welki and not a singleton. . . .but ty
explain this to me - the top e is all by itself, no other e's in the neighborhood - not a singleton?
on second cup of coffee, so this is definitely a welki-induced confusion :)
by singleton i meant a letter with only one word. . . but i agree it is not absolutely clear that is what i meant
Not a singleton, just lonely :(
ohhhhh, i get it! thanks
since there were two Es on the row and two Es on the row it was the only way i could "single" it out as it were. . .

understandable, Chrissie
But he only did what he was told
i wouldn't do it but I would clarify in advance. . .
Good Morning Everyone. How are you all today?
hi, nef
my favorite story for my hubby to tell about my boy was that we were somewhere talking to people and my boy was kicking my ankle to get my attention. . .
hi nef!
so hubby said: don't kick your mother on that ankle so the boy. .. .
Hi welki and jmc! :-)
went to the other side and kicked my other ankle. . . we were both so proud of him! haha
great thanks Nef, was very relieved that we would not be selling coffee in the Market this morning due to inclement weather
Lol, is that a true story jmc?
I like your boy :)
I have 2 kids like that, jmc. Very literal...
yes it is a true story. . .
flosey, you sell coffee?
my hubby should have be more precise in his direction! haha
as volunteer Neff, it's brought in from an island in Nicaragua - fair trade and our people go down to make sure the workers are well paid and looked after - they also have a program to get young boys off the streets (and drugs)
good for you flosey!
Worthy cause flosey
sounds like a worthwhile cause, flossy. But I can understand not wanting to do it in bad weather. (I really don't care to be wet and cold myself)
nbt
Good day to all.
I wish there was more fair trade like that in the world.
hi scrabs
Hi scrabs
Hi Scrabs
hi scrabs
It's going to rain all day so I have no excuse to not declutter/clean except...a huge Babble grid!
Woot a biggie!
Woof woof, Bichon.
YAY for the large grid, Scrabs! I appreciate distractions like that
But I do need to declutter!
That's just what they're doing now Scrabs.
Woof, woof, Marco & Polo!
I wish my hbby would get that idea Scrabs
I just decluttered a shelf in my linen closet..many a sheet and pillowcase will be gone
and I feel lighter
Barking or decluttering, Bichon?
Barking, some other dogs walked by our house. Now they're going back to sleep
There's a bunch of charities that do curb-side pick up here and every week one or another calls; so I always say yes I have something and I've been slowly decluttering for over a year now.
Good for you, Nef. On Craiglist you can list "curb alert" too.
Our garage is wall-to-wall junk and he'd better get it out before the weather gets cold and we can park the cars inside overnight
I didn't see the volcano :(
I didn't know that, Scrabs. I don't use Craigslist often; but I will keep that in mind now
TY, Annie.
bichon, we have 2 basement windows that open into the garage (and half the garage is also taken up by a handicap ramp; but that's another story). Whenever we parked the car(s) in the garage it would set off the CO alarms; so we haven't used the garage for cars for years.
So you have to shovel and scrape ice in the winter--tough work.
I'm going to replace the windows with the glass blocks "one of these days" but always end up spending the money on something else.
This may be a dumb question, but why not just close the basement windows?
I will not scrape ice off the windshields in the AM
Scraping ice can be very tough.
Actually the reason the garage is full of junk is that I cleaned this summer before we had company and put the junk from the house into the garage. I suppose those boxes will make a reappearance
Molly, they are closed and we've tried sealing them various ways in the past but now I had a handyman who showed us the sills are shot; so the only answer is pulling them out and redoing the whole problem
Oh, I get it now, Nef. Seems like an odd structural design. Hope you can get it fixed soon. Seems a shame to have a garage you can't use.
I don't mind scraping the ice off the windshield that much; we have BIG ice scrapers that work quite well
I covet one of those expensive cars with remote start up that will defrost while you finish your coffee.
Weather's getting bad here, but the real rain won't come til this evening. It's over Scrabs now
Yep, it started raining in the night and will continue all day. Flash flood warnings til 3pm.
here, unless you have a garage, you have to plug your cars in overnight so block heaters keep the oil fluid
Hi welki--you are way north!
stats for bottom a pls
The garage was added on a few years after the house was built; so the windows have built-in window wells and permanent covers over them too. The one(beyond the kitchen side door) isn't even noticeable; but the front one partially blocks the walk-in garage door and is a pain
at4/5; at5/12; at6/21
I had block heaters on my cars when I lived in NW MN too. They are very handy

I just returned from the "big city" of Missoula where I attended the 45th reunion of the UM Black Studies department. Why does a white woman feel a connection to this department? You pretty much had to be there to get it.
hope you feel better soon. try babble to take your mind off it. lol

sometimes you have to use ** clues as the words are too difficult to clue.. but jeeez..
It's been a long time since I've been in Confession too :D
I'll take ** clues over hump letter, cross letter clues.
ROFL

don't know, molly -- like hook your behind to a rug for the ma 7 clue
Oh Lord, this guy on PBS is cooking 100$ a plate restaurant style. You would love it, Ru.
not only is the Black Studies (now called African American Studies) a small department, but it's pretty seriously integrated. Last night they awarded a scholarship to a black woman who is majoring in Irish Studies, and a white woman who is a student of the civil war.
on my way out -- see you tomorrow (maybe at the flip, even) - hagd everyone
Now THAT is diversity. Sounds like an interesting group.
bye nan
Bye Nan
that's really interesting harp.. why would a black woman study Irish history.. what a trip
Certain cultures have exhibited very anti-Irish sentiment. It could have been an interest in that.
I think all cultures have their own anti-sentiment .. by and large
I didn't get a chance to talk to her so I don't know her story.
Alex Hailey has Irish ancestors
*tosses in the towel.. heads to list*
All cultures may have their anti-sentiment. Ireland still has a portion of their country usurped by another. Makes it hard for the natives.
I don't really know enough about Ireland to comment..but one of my closest friends is Irish and from there.
finally found my last a

we had all that yesterday...sunny here but cool
We bought some macs in upstate NY last weekend. We both think they are too ta4. My husband suggested they would make good pie. I just looked at him and said, "start baking". Needless to say, we have no pie.
lol...had a caramel apple last year...asked for a tart apple. It ended up to be very sour instead of tart. Thinking it was picked too early
they make great sauce... no sugar... just cinnamon,,... my babies love it
Best not to have pie in the house, because I will eat it!
sour cream apple pie. yummy!
I have a recipe for apple maple cream pie. It is to die for, but the calories are off the chart.

judi, get hubby to make crossy's famous apple desset. you get a lasagna dish, unroll an etire tube of pilsbury crescent roll dough into it,letting it go up the side of the dish a bit, peel and cut about 8 apples into slices and spread overtop of dough evenly. now add 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of mutmeg (or just use allspice) and one table spoon of brown sugar and bake in oven:))
serve warm with scoop of Fr vanillia ice cream:)
if you wish to pre bake the crust for pudding dessets or cream pies, just roll it out and cook at 275 for 8 minutes
375*
*Heading to Judi's house for apple maple cream pie when she gets over the calorie guilt*

mom23, i would be totally lost living in a place without winter and without the beauty of apple blossoms dancing in the wind and the fall smell of the cider presses at work
Wasn't sure I'd be happy making the move, but promised hubby I'd do it and give him 5 yrs before begging him to move me back. That was almost 4 yrs ago, and not seeing a move in my near future! Cider donuts, fresh (not past'zed) cider ... now I'm hungry!
then i better not tell you about the apple pound cake i am making tomorrow
aaaaaaaargh! darn you, crossy!
nope.i was wrong.the crew requests the amish cinnamon bread...
Mom, you are much better off in a place where nothing freezes and you don't have to wear a winter coat. You can buy Fall treats or make them. : )

sorry bout the big post
hello everyone. crossy, perhaps put it into your profile next time?
perhaps
i am sure i will be forgiven however
how is everyone this beautiful day?
Just copied & pasted! One question -- am I allowed to use an electric mixer since it's Amish ;-P
see that butter though? a full half cup in each loaf! so those on a diet, you have been warned
well , there is no bacon in the pb today so i suppose so.
lol.no mom,just a wooden spoon:)
Everything's better with butter -- except bacon! Found that out quite by accident recently. Bacon has the ability to stand alone!
bacon..the wonder food
free food = the best.kind. that is what i found today whilst running errands.
Good idea TO. That way people can find the recipe without digging through the archives.
free is good.as long as it is not the "quick eat it before it expires" type of free
Tks for the apple desset info, cross. Gotta run. Later!
tc mom
if i may share, i realuctantly drove last minute to a shredding event where they urged me to take pretzels. i don't usualyy but these were minis and still warm
<---Loves soft pretzels
<----- has never had fresh pretzels
i don't usually but i took one, they were light and i had taken meds without breakfast.
The Amish market near where I live has soft pretzels. They are SO good.
but that is only the beginning. :)
closest i have come would be campfire bannock wrapped around a stick
well cross, you have to wait 24 hours before dwimming if you eat one normally :)
I never eat before dwimming :D
:P
Too bad there are no Amish markets in Canada.
do you eat them with mustard, molly?
pretzels freeze well and ship well even not frozen. revive in microwave.
we have mennonite markets and are content
molly, we danced outdoors at a street festival the other night under that gorgrous full moon. lots osf photos and vids taken but none have shown up as yet.

We haven't had any yet, but will. And it's mega windy
The first part of the day was good, so I got outside for most of that.

I love fresh air. Hate canned air.
I have all our windows open and it's glorioius
we finally have sunshine here; it was cold and cloudy this AM and we just have bits of rain the past 2 days (we really need some good solid rain to get into the soil here.)
Everything looks droopy here. Haven't had a decent rain all month

Hi Gran Mere

Hi there, stidgemere.
hi granmere
Hi Molly. Today I'm getting food ready for a birthday party. We will just need to reheat and the foods are such that they are usually better the next day.
Sounds like pretty nice last-day-of-summer for most of us.
Sounds good. I love birthday parties. : )
We shall set virtual places for you all. I'm gong to make spoon bread to go with our green beans and tomatoes.
brb
mmm, sounds good altho I am not sure what spoon bread is
YUM! I love fresh green beans and tomatoes(eating plenty of our own here too)
(I don't know what spoon bread is either, peri)
Spoon bread is like corn bread.
ok, then I would like it
More pudding like though.
mmm, maybe not
Or a souffle.
sounds interesting; I'm Googling it now
Kind of like a souffle but with cornmeal. It is very soft and your comparison with pudding, Molly, is apt.
I love it when I'm apt.
My husband finds cornbread too dry for his tastes but spoon bread is his favorite.
it looks good; I'll have to talk DH in to making some (HE is the baker in this house!)
Depending on how you make it, cornbread can be dry. My recipe is pretty moist though.
My recipe is moist, too, Molly but oh well. What he can't pile enough butter on is too dry.
FW. happy babbling all
YAY, peri!!! WTG!!!
That's the way it goes sometimes, Gran Mere. : )

...lead balloons... lead balloooooons..
do i hear a goat singing?
baaaaadly too
what is the sound made my goats called? dogs bark, owls hoot, etc. like that.
bleat? or is that sheep
i think they baa like sheep...
hmm... i think maybe both, but i can't even bring a goat call to mind.
i looked up bleat and it says that the sound is made by sheep, goats, or calfs....
well.. if you can't bleat them.. join them
i know that in crossword puzzles, goats and sheep say baa....
better one, ru...
i bleat from time to time.
Found this: "the goat went "Maa! Maa!", or "naa, naa" something similar. This is distinct from the sheep on the previous page of the book, which of course says "Baa!". Source: The Very Busy Spider, Eric Carle - the guy who created The Hungry Caterpillar.?
wow. well done, jwr.
question mark should be exchanged for an "end quote"
not moi-aaa, mab -- just google
superior googling, then
and he didn't bleat around the bush either
ooops. Now you know what I do with the time I'm supposed to be working!
ruru: Booooooooo
what are we? we are ourselves. what are we not? sheep. what does the sheep go? baaah.
and how, pray tell, do WE go?
we go 'bar bar bar,' if we are barbarians.
we go round the mulberry bush... ;o)
I thought only French elephants did that
babar, i love him. he always looks smart. oui?
ah oui, and speaks so well.
oh - banned book week starts tomorrow.
mab -- love the jump from Babar to banned books
i was reminded of the belgian tin tin
are any books banned anymore -- other than by Muslims?
who was banned somewhere.
school libraries in some places still ban books...
mostly libraries by library boards, and school reading lists.
Harry Potter was banned in some because of the element of magic....
oh brother.
I didn't know tintin was bannable ... probably the dogs fault. btw, how do French dogs go? I know it isn't woof.
wizards are like witches...
woeuf...
sherman alexie was banned for negative american indian content. of course he is himself indian.
re banned books, I was thinking more of books banned by whole countries -- Lady Chatterly, etc.
i don't think that sort of thing happens any more.
except in dictatorships....
like james's ulysses, or henry miller
Dr. Zhivago was banned in Russia when it came out...
salman rushdie had a run in fairly recently :D
pen - wizards are nothing like witches -- they have different genetalia
true, pen. kite runner was banned in malaysia
genI, rather
my russian friend was accused of having it....she had passed it on to someone else...
think the response went beyond "banned"
i know that, jwr...but the people who ban books don't know the difference.....
wizards have wands jw :D
ha!
my Russian friend was really threatened when it happened
ty ruru - I couldn't think of a good substitute
the good witch, Glinda, had a wand, but not that kind of course.
Glinda was actually in drag and was really Glarry
oh pen - the Do know the difference, they can't think of anything else! ... Not to change the subject, but I am almost through the four books of the Wicked quartet by Maguire. Can never ever see the Oz characters the same way.
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations top all the finishers!Way to go
hi min!
hi min
ruru Glenglarryglenross?
hi min...
i love mamet.
but not that he's suddenly become conservative i fear his writing will suffer
orthodox and conservative
hey all (((Min))) I survived my second full week of school, the last two days voiceless... *wicked teacher grin* I love being able to teach even when I have no voice. I grab the kid closest to me, whisper the directions to that child and have them repeat after me. :-)
are you a full time teacher, stidmama?
so I am well past halfway, and need the A in the bottom row for NBT -- any help?
Full-year, .6 time this year, mab. LOVE it!
Good for you on your first two weeks! I was out of work on Friday because of jury duty. Have to do it again on Monday
that's really wonderful; happy for you.
at 4/5...at 5/12....at 6/21...
oof. jury duty? I dread things like that. I have to be out on Oct 2 for stupid fiddle-farty admin nonsense. But I had already planned a "reader's workshop" and library day for that day so the kids won't lose any ground. The subs in the school so far this year have been pretty anemic.
thanks penquis
got 'em!
yw
thanks, mab -- I didn't want full-time work, this part-time is almost perfect because I have my evenings mostly free and I can get enough done during the week that I can take real time off for "life" on the weekends! WAY easier than when I did the long-term, full-time subbing last year.
delightful talking to you all - I only get to use the computer at work at night (from 7pm to 7am) so rarely get an extended chat. Do lurk from time to time ... I have good peripheral vision. Best of communication (and joy of teaching) to you all.
sounds ideal. you worked so hard for this.
nice to "see" you jwr. Be well. :-)
well you are always welcome jwr
have a grand grid -- poof!
Goodnight jwr! i will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
does anyone speak spanish? there is a word, wahida, or wahita.... can't find it googling and don't know what it means.
it's not a spanish word, mab
what is the context?
i hear something like that in latino songs. it may be a type of music, like son
I speak spanish.. I don't know wahita
what type of music? if it's hip hop or something modern like that it might be a nonsense word. But out of context it's hard to tell. It is a name of middle eastern origin, though.
dictionary...Wahita is a beautiful, confident man/woman who loves the wilderness and loves to be with her family at all times. Wahita loves to help people and loves animals, especially turtles. Wahita has a strong future ahead of her with great hope and will run into a large sum of money in the future.
i must be hearing it wrong. it's latin american jazz/pop.
hello all
urban dictionary....and this for wahida... 1. An extravagant name for a humble soul. True definition is "unique" 2. Someone who also loves Queen
i know...weird...
!
hm. I don't speak urban... *wicked babble grin*
i am hearing it incorrectly.
my town has 7500 people.....largest in the county...i don't speak urban either, lol....
i hope you don't speak rural at school, stid.
Juanita might sound like "wahita" if it were jumbled up in other sounds?
good call, stiddy and hi
Hello 72 Temple Owl! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
I speak SAE at school, unless I need to get their attention. Then I tend to speak Spanish, German, French or Italian. Or sometimes Ogre.
hey TO!
aha! juahita! music of cuba.
hi min. i was supposed to be hearing steely dan, instead i am sitting here babbling and eating.
why the change of plans?
by the way, hi temple. was in spanish muddle.
the radio station did not send over the canopy or the kit, even though I volunteered to get the kit. and it was pouring. we could have talked our way in, but if not then we would be in the pouring rain, the fourth person who was the kit person did not show and we could not raise her on the phone.
did not feel like fighting 9,-- cars in the rain and mud just to stand on the back.
now temple is speaking a strange language
:)
oh, outdoor concert?
wow. too bad it didn't work out, but at least you're not out catching cold.
in other words, we were to do PR for the radio station but had not the supplies.
oh, i see.
really. when i saw them two years ago i was middle of thrid row. anything less would be disappointing. ound out the kid who is the coordinator is moving on in a month, probably does not care.
oh, short-timer syndrome.
but the day was very good up till then and lad to be home now.
i think that rain is coming new england way
now does anyone have premium cable who can reommend a show to watch? HBO has newsroom and boardwalk empire. cable is unscrambled on demand
Rain is definitely headed our way, the skies are glowering at me.
i don't know which network has which series since i don't have premium service. i watched all the movies when they were ree two weeks ago.
we love the Newsroom on HBO. I like boardwalk empire, but am behind on watching
hey jessmom
ty jess. what other ones have series?
hi stid & everyone
Showtime has Dexter, the serial killer show. Good, but gruesome at times
ty but i think not for me.
They also have Homeland. I haven't seen it, but it's gotten great reviews and a lot of awards.
watching newsroom now. very sorkin
ooh, ty! i may try that later.
no problem
Down to 108 and taking a break. have a lovely weekend, all! *poof*
I've got to run too. Bye all

it's the last six lines in a sonnet....the meaning of the word
Thanks much, pen
but that word--ses--is a musical group of so many people. Or any group of that number
i don't think it's the same word....at least the dictionary doesn't think so....that word has an x in it....
but perhaps they are interchangeable...
I thought ses was another number, like sex--guess you're right--I should know sonnets--what's the first eight called?
i have no idea....
enable says octave. duh. Also the ses variety can be a variant if the sex--so it's both.
thone

Thanks pen. I'm just too tired to go on. I'll rest a while and come back for the flip. Thanks so much for all your help.
