night jilli
that's a great start
saw the opening weekend of the Cleveland Orchestra. Beethoven Emperor Concerto and Mahler 4.
nite, jilli!
I like Mahler too
French horns were out of this world. If you ask me they should make a million dollars a year.
Even my sometimes restless 22-year-old sat through it rapt.
wow
The audience was really in it, none of the usual coughing that plagues concerts sometimes.
Wow, this grid has a lott of "onesies".
that's nice
I saw yoyo ma once and you could have heard a pin drop
who was the conductor?
who me?
or melon
The orchestra has a great ticket plan, too. You can buy a passcard in increments of ten vouchers at $30/each. The only restriction is that you can redeem them no earlier than the monday before a concert. Amazingly, there were seats left under that plan, so we sat in the dress circle for 30 bucks a pice; those are $120 seats!
Fabio Luisi of the Metropolitan Opera. Pianist was Helen Grimaud.
I saw YoYo Ma in Akron, ruru, same thing.
he's just incredible
My nephew, who was a budding cellist at the time was enthralled.
the richest sounds I've ever heard from a stringed instrument
Like dark chocolate in soud!
in sound!
Luisi is v. good!!
I loved Seji Ozawa (sp?).. he was great .. Michael Tilson Thomas is also excellent in SF
Seiji
thanks
Never saw Ozawa live, only on TV. A huge favorite in CLE is Pierre Boulez. He's getting on in years, has canceled in recent years, sorry to say.
saw him conduct several times
hi everyone
he's brilliant
hi mjc
hello mj
hello mjc (darling g/dtr) xx
FWs
hi dizg
yay diz
i'm really slow tonight
I saw Szell conduct. I was about 15.
I've played for a few notables. A highlight in my playing career was performing in the Verdi Requiem with none other than Robert Shaw.
wow
wow is right!
My favorite conductor at the late Cleveland Opera was Anton Coppola; he's Francis Ford's uncle. He would sing the arias as he rehearsed us in this raspy "godfather" voice. We'd talk about movies and food during rehearsal breaks.
I sat next to Francis at a wedding once
You don't say!
I didn't know he was from Cleveland
i need one more word to go to bed
He isn't. All our conductors at the opera were from out of town, mostly New York, as was Anton. We had him about one production a years through the 90s. I retired from playing professionally around 1998. I hear Coppola just retired, this from a friend who plays in the Tampa Opera orchestra.
ah
3 shy of nbt (have nbs). I need rightmost A, and the bottom row A, as well as the E to its right )in the bottom row).
that a is ae 5 i think
It took me a long time after retiring to get into going to concerts. Even now, when I go I acutely miss playing in an orchestra.
the rightmost or the bottomA?
I bet
not sure
the right most is at 4 I bet
It is hard to tell in this grid.
Nope, at4 was 2nd column A.
that bottom a is ad 7
the right is ae 5
I have none of the ad- words yet.
tx, now I have to put on my thinking cap (:
I just have h's and s's now
got the ae. Thanks (:
Hi everyone, late again
good eve friends

That was a loaded question, you know?

what, peach? swim like a rock? you bet.

Lets don't until your cough is completely gone. OK?
...lead ballooooons.. lead balloooooooons...
lolol, okay you two, will do.
concrete shoes, concrete shoes
ther is your problem, take off the shoes before swimming
oh, do you think that would help, joso?
it might cement your stroke granny :D
might be easier on your knee if you just ran arround barefoot altogether
*chuckling*
and if you keep to the kitchen....
or commando style granny :D
But she shouldn't run around in her altogether>
now here's a surprise!!! guess which stroke is my favourite?

lolol, yeah, right, joso
I have to wonder about punsters sence of reality
OK, nbt, nbs, > halfway, and all ≥ 7 letter words. Clues anyone before I head to beddy-bye?
nite, ruru.
yay for melon. nice job hun
who is rex ryan?
I once dated a man who was "into" toes. I didn't date him much after that.
joso, all punsters are terrific actors and dreamers. i should know, i'm married to one.
awww, poor rose, 24 hour puns
However it was not unpleasant.
now you know why i'm gonna live a long time...all th5 endorphins released by laughing.
Thanks, granny.
Knew a girl who dated one, she was a waitress and liked him for the foot masauges after work, but apearantly it was not enough in the long run.
At 18 I had a boyfriend who liked to buy shoes for me. It veered toward strange...
I should think it really helped after being on ones feet for long.
At least I was the one who wore the heels (as far as i knew)...
veered sharply I imagine
and, with that, I exit. Ciao! [poof]
as soon as i open up, the weemen, they just run away
Hello Gang!
hey pug
Hi there, puglet. So glad you are here.
Now, see joso, she didn't run away.
hey up pugs
Hi pugs

Hi Flosey
Fine and froggy.

Oh, my gosh, I think I forgot my meds.....LOL
Just warding off another headache but other than that just froggy myself
Nice to see you jolly Peach
Thanks, 'm dear.
Thats real good Rose--about time dont you think
How was service today,Rose
lovely. we all handed in our boxes for operation christmas child. such a huge pile for such a small congregation. in 2 weeks time we are having a blessing of the animals service.
My girlfriend and her hubby came last night and we went down to the campgrounds and enjoyed coffee and just visisting in the outdoors. Was a beautiful fallish evening
what is animal service and thats nice so many gives to the poor
lovely, pugs.
we bring our pets into the church, or their photos, if they are no longer with us. they are blessed. people come from miles around, as not many churches do this.
what kind of gifts do you put in your box,Rose
I like that but have never heard of that
hmmm, grey lead peancils, colouring pencils, textas, erasers, pencil sharpener, lined exercise book, sunhat, hair clips, solar-powered torch...lots of stuff.
these boxes are going to a third world country.we have to nominate the age and sex of the child.
th5 kids apparently erase the previous years work from their workbooks in order to re-use them the next year.
I dont think any of us really knows what poor is and how lucky we do have it
out of lurking....we do the same at my school rose....what is lovely is that my own kids (allegedly adults..) still fill boxes and send them in with me. We are so fortunate. Lovely to think that you are doing the same on the other side of the world.
hey, dipp. i know it is world-wide. and yes, it's nice to know that we can ,make a difference. even if it is for only a short while.
Good morning!
{{rosie and puglet}}

my fragile dogs could certainly use a blessing!
But I know my Ruby went to Heaven
*positively
night, une. sweet dreams, hun
bonne nuit, une
I have never heard of any churches doing that here--I wish they would thou
i have to admit to a giggle when our vicar announced the blessing of the animals, as i am a vicar of dibley fan.
I thought it was just a rural Catholic thing, but I'm glad your CofE does it Rosie
I know there is a placein the Bible that tells of animals going to heaven but Iam not sure where it is,but I have read it
Ask them, puglet. I bet someone would have it done.
I will look into it Peach
has anybody seen the movie Chocolat where there is a discussion with the Young priest about whether r not dogs have souls (I think they do!) and therefore, if they have to observe Lent
(I think they don't)
I'm surprised pug, my ex quit the church when the priest told her animals did not go to heaven. if her pets coulden't come she had no interest.
Hey Rose, are you still here?
It is in there Joso-----I have seen and read where people have had near death exp. and they see their pets waiting for them . So Ruby I would say they have souls
i saw Chocolat ruby, but can't recall the conversation
It was when the older man gave chocolats to his dog,Charlie
I've seen that movie, one of my favorites, about 10 times, so know most of the dialogue by heart lol
ah, i enjoyed it, but not to that degree. Isn't chocolate poison to dogs?
greetings all!
hi pink
Hi Pink

Not looking for her, puglet... chatting with her. For a while now. Sorry! Haha.

I dont know about that
you didn't miss much, don't worry
I will take your word on that!
a bad time for babble as a whole, grin. So... how have you been , pug?
Ive been just grand! And you?
am good! enjoying the peace in the house... for as long as it lasts, of course.
Sprite, have you read the other series that Kenyon wrote? I kind was looking at some of her other works and I dont know if it could be as good as the hunter series
everyone gone or still in bed?
I started the... let me think... Sword of Darkness, I think. Kinley McGregor is the name she is writing under, I believe. Rather good but less fun.
son and his girl still in bed. Daughter downstairs and my love in the garden, drinking coffee.
{{sprite}}
I'm popping in for another minute before we go to your favorite resto for lunch
hiya ruby :) *hug* And how are you today? And how are the puppies doing?
125 earlier but no nbt
I wanna come, ruby! Take me with you in your purse, grin.
Rufie has another huge "hot spot" and I am trying to treat it without the vet. He is so afraid of her because she shaves him and medicates him. Last night, besides giving him mdedrol and applying some cortisone lotion, I finally gave him a doggie sedative because he was rather frantic
He is usually so calm and he kept looking in my eyes as if to say "Help me, Mom"
poor rufie.
We don't knoq why he gets them. When I put him on an austere diet, he got one anyway, so I don't think it's food.
does he dig at them
yes, it depends where it is. Usually, they're on his haunches, so he bites them. This time, it's on his shoulder, so he scratches it with his hind foot which has very sharp claws
last night, it was all bloody and Raffie kept trying to lick it
could nerves or stress bring them on
ruby, check out this link: http://tinyurl.com/kvb8ddo At the bottom of the page is an interesting part about hot spots.
he's a very calm dog so I don't think so. The breeder I know says that her chows get them, too, so I guess it's just a weakned of some sort
it may be caused by an insect bite or a flea bite.
Ruby, could whatever is biting you be biting him too
I don't think so. I use that flea and tick medicatin on him and have never seen a flea.
I feel so sorry for him because hes such a sweet and handsome boy
ruby, check out that link I just gave. It says even one tiny insect bite might bring it on.
but you havent seen what has been biting you either
there's not much I can do if that's what it is, I can't keep him out of the garden.
That's true, pugs, but the bites have stopped since it's cooled down. I'll check sprite's link after lunch.
and with the heavy coats they have, it is impossible to see a single flea. Which is all he might have, because it takes only one bite... and that one bite kills the flea.
no you cant but to treat it the best you can
My friends here all said that this would be a bad year for ticks, but I haven't found one on either dog (that's the first time)
finding out what triggers it with him is a good start to treating it best as can be.
the vet suggested sending him to a special clinic that finds dog allergies, but it's far aay
and VERY expensive
my Else gets rashes on her tummy from certain weeds, probally Beulah does too but Else has a white tummy so it show better on her
what does the rash look like?
why cant your vet do a scraping and send it off or a blood sample
red spots
lol... and gone is the peace. Baby neighbour kid crying... poor little thing.
it must be very loud
red spots would have to have legs to be visible on these long-haired pups! lol
it is. Good lungs on that one.
why do they let him cry?
I bet! Beulah is black but slicked hair and I cant see them on her
they don't. He just goes on while they are trying to calm him, lol.
he needs a Mama Cass hug!
do you live in a apartment Sprite
*giggle* My daughter was babysitting with them and she called me... said he wouldn't quit crying and had puked all over the place, and her. So I went there and calmed the baby while she cleaned up. The second I left the room, he started all over.
no, we are living in a house, but it is not freestanding. It is one of a row of houses.
we're in a house with a big hedge all around and I can still hear the neighbors if their grandchildren are at their pool!
He probally feels her uncertainly on handling him--lol
oh yeah. Children's voices carry.
And before them, the old neighbors had 3 very noisy small children, and it was terrible all summer
When Sprite hugs me, I stop crying! lol
no, she is very good with children. It is just that a mamma has more experience. I am not afraid to hold him tight and restrict his movements, so he can calm down.
bye for now, my friends
*hugs ruby* Whenever you need a hug, hun.
I used to swaddle my son and he never cried
bye Ruby-enjoy your outing--hugs again
enjoy lunch!
sometimes children wind up themselves again and again by moving wildly. If it is from anger, it is ok to restrict their movements a bit, so they can calm down. It was so sweet, after the first few seconds he grabbed my neck with his arm and held close, burying his face in my neck.
is he their only child
no, he is their third. They are doing everything right. But as every mother knows, some days are just like that... they cry.
some crying is good for them but not so easy on us-lol
hehehe true. We are hormonally programmed to feel panic when they cry.
how is your sister doing, pug?
I think there is some improvement since she started the new meds for her tyroid
was wondering about that. How nice! She sure could use a little improvement.
yesterday I took her and another sister to town and we happen to find there was a little fall fair going on so we parked and walked about looking at the crafts in the booths along the streets
oh great! Best of all, those unplanned treats. Did you see anything good?
You bet, but I didnt buy anything--but got some great ideals. I had my little Annapooh with me too, her first outing in a crowd like that and she was a bit scared. But they had alot of fall decorating ideals with pumpkins
oh that is cool :) I like all those carved out pumpkins. Some people are total artists with them. Great going on Annapooh. The sooner they get used to crowds, the better. We took terra everywhere when he was a pup and now he is not afraid of anything at all.
its getting close to babble's 6 o-clock thing
yes, a few more minutes indeed.
Ive took her to alot of places and to a store that lets pets shop with you and she does great. But this was lots of people close together, something she has not experence before==lol
while we were socialising terra, we took him to the playground of the school, when we took the children to and from school. Worked like a charm. And market day in the city. He loves it.
I would love taking Else but Iam leary about her.She is not too friendly towards strangers and I would feel bad if she bit someone. She was 7mo old when I got her from the pound. She likes riding as they all do.
you can build up the exposure with her, if you want. Take her to increasingly crowded areas. Don't pick her up and don't acknowledge her when she acts scared, but talk to her and pet her when she is calm. She can still learn.
sprite, why does babble do this? Is there a reason?
well tomorrow starts your new chapter in your life
will you be able to be on here in the morning
pug, yes there is a reason
at 5 am grid time, the game is reset on the server. The rankings are rewritten at that time.
pug, the new therapy group starts on Monday Sep 30th, not tomorrow. I will be on tomorrow morning for sure.
thank you for the imfo
after that, one more time on Friday, and then I will be on on Friday mornings and not anymore on Monday mornings.
oh--I was thinking it started monday
rose is returning to work tomorrow
yes, but next week. It is amazing how well it all fits... last day on the farm on Friday 27, then first day in the clinic on Monday 30.
omg... already. That is way too soon, if you ask me. But nobody ever asks me, lol.
well thats good you go right into the new
yeah I dont get it--one says work and one says rest
am pretty sure I am being guided to the clinic. It all fits so beautifully.
I hope she will be able to sit and not hurt her leg anymore than it already is.
she said chair duty and for 5 hours
ok, that is at least one good thing. Might be nice to be at work for a bit. Other people, other place to be.
Yeah and Iam sure she need the income too
yes... but I thought she was on work cover.
not sure who recently told me that the grids don't change randomly but with certain patterns. But I think she is right. Again several repeat words from yesterday. Like the AL girl's names.
I did too Sprite and she still needs surgery yet but waiting on the insurance co
I so wish things were better organised there. Here, this wouldn't have been happening like this. She would have been able to stay at home while waiting for the op, and the insurance would pay for the op without question.
you would think that the workforce would treat their long time workers better. But it would be about the same here I hate to say
money is more important then life in most of these cases
did you get to read those short stories on DH
So what did you mean by the comment you made at 4:07 am spite? How was I "part of" that? Nope. I just missed all of that... except for someone who came later going by the name "Angel" and we think is also "Andrew in Drag".
very true, pug, and makes me worry for our rose
and yes, I read the stories you said... so beautiful
hello neil, rewriting history? You were like peas in a pod with the JC and Nancyboy chars. And your email convo with me was about the same as the one between the JC and me. I reserve my judgment.
How so? I didn't know "Nancyboy". And I don't know Julian that well either. So nope... not so at all.
Huh? Whatever.
now ladies, if i may wade in here...
as I said, rewriting history. Doesn't matter to me, I will keep my distance, as I did before. Not trusting you.
by all means Rose
hiya rose! Lovely to see you, grin. We were worried about you, I heard you are going back to work tomorrow?
Glad that you do. Don't need to know nasty people.
and off he is with calling names. Bye neil, as I said, I will keep my distance.
there have been some very shady characters in this chog. please believe me, Neil is NOT one of them. i very rarely am so assertive. but i must emphasise that Neil is a real person.
Names? Haven't called anyone a "name".
But you act nasty, must be nasty.
I was already keeping my distance from him before the whole charade, rose... as a result of not so pleasant emails. I will stay away from the drama with neil.
Please do that. No amount of distance could be enough.
That's why you're creating it by making nasty comments about me in here, when I was doing nothing to you? Yeah... oook!
btw rose, did you meet him in person?
okay, we are agreed. Neil and sprite are oil and water.
Has everyone met you in person?
yep. Several babblers.
That isn't all of them I'm sure. Many people I know online have met me too... just not Babblers so far.
well, as I said, not wanting to be part of the everlasting neil drama. Am stopping this useless conversation, neil.
rose, pug said you were going back to work tomorrow. Do you feel ready?
sprite, not really, but i have a mortgage to pay...what else can i do?
darn it, hun. I SO wish you would have the social security we have here. Will send stabilizing and healing vibes to your leg... you will stay put, won't you?
sprite, we are talking about Rose
lololllll true. Yeah, she is a firecracker, I know. But she is also a wise lady.
* giggle * my dear ol' dad brought me up to keep on battling on.
I bought a bottle of nailpolish (something I dont wear often) and I just love the color. Its a orangey-red. A perfect fallish color
oh wow, pug! That brightens up the whole day, doesn't it, every time you look at it!
yeah it does--lol
wtg on your dad, rose. It ain't over till the fat lady sings... and I am not singing yet!
I know. I don't do it often either, but when I do, I can't stop looking at my nails, lol. Very silly but also very much fun.
See Sprite,, shes going to be too active on that leg and ignore the pain
she may not, pug. She will remember. I have faith in rose.
one year I painted my toenails orange and yellow and the chicks kept pecking at them thinking them corn, I guess-lol
morning all
morning Anita
hiya Anita :)
lol pug! Oh, such a funny image that is!
on the farm, we feed the chickens. I always enjoy that. They are so greedy and all over you. And then when I say: good morning ladies, move over... they almost sit on my hands, lol.
lol--sorry had to take annapooh out to potty--shes afraid of the dark
lol
getting back to the book thing(I didnt answer back due to letting you and Ruby talk) I dont think her other series interest me. It seemed dull compared to the hunters
But I got several more to buy and read to get through them all; I want to get the first one fanasty lover because I think it is about Grace and Julian
she is a very good writer and I think the other series are good too. But maybe not as much fun. For now, you have a whole lot of books still to go in the DH series :)
oh and btw, feel free to post whenever, in the middle of whatever conversation... I can do several at once, grin.
but its polite to let someone else enjoy you too-lol
lolollll pug, you are such a dearheart. Seriously. Such a loving person you are.
we are just going into the start of our fall weather and its pretty watching the trees to start changing colors
do you have four seasons there
my favorite time of the year. The colours and the smells, and even the weather.
yes, we have 4 seasons.
do you have alot of snow during the winter
some winters. They can be rainy or snowy or with lots of ice. Very unpredictable, the weather in the netherlands.
I love fall and spring the best--summer until it gets past 85 and winter until ice and below temps arrives
that sounds about like our winter too
does Rose get snow?
and Ruby?
I love fall best. Storms, beautiful colours and such lovely smells, toadstools. I like spring for the bursting out life from everything. Summer unless it is too hot and humid. And winter would be grand if it wouldn't be so dark.
don't know about rose, but ruby, yes. She can get snow, and ice.
oh, I have a waking light now, for light treatment during the winter! First winter I can use it. Will be very interesting to see if it works against depression.
do you have dark days like alaska?
Ive read that sunlight does help depressions
lol no, there is always day and night here. But the days are short in winter. Sun up late in the morning and down in the afternoon.
yes, they say that when you get too little daylight, depressions can be caused or made worse. I have this light that will start shining very softly an hour before I get up, then grow stronger until the alarm. It should imitate waking up from the summer sun.
I think it would be very hard to have weeks of total darkness
would be impossible to manage for me, pug. And for many people, I think. So many depressed people in the scandinavian countries.
oh wow, let me know how that works for you
why is that sprite
will do! I have faith that it will help. It has been tested extensively.
I think because of the long dark winters, pug.
did you get this through the clinic
no, I got it from my medical insurance.
I have never heard of such a light
Hello again, ladies, back from Sprite's resto! It's a beautiful day but a little bit chilly.
pug, for instance this one: http://tinyurl.com/o4q3ee3
wb ruby!
welcome back Ruby--what kind of goodies did you have
In December, here, it's dark by 5PM and doesn't get light until 8. We make up for it in June when it's ight until 11
for ruby and me it is about the same. She is a little bit more south, but not much.
If I lie down and try to nap in the afternoon, I put a lamp on so that it shines in my face; it makes me wake up happier
very smart, ruby.
yes that is
I wasn't really hungry as we eat VERY big breakfasts on Sunday. We bring home most of the meaty for the dogs' dinner
does it tan you too--lol
lol no.
I am so pale, even after this (short) summer, that I look like I'm dead, just don't know it.
I have never tanned--I just burn burn burn-lol
orry, arm slipped
too stubborn to lie down and play dead, lol. Good for you. Don't fall asleep on the keyboard, hun ;)
Madame Redhead!
same for me, pug! Burn, peel, burn, peel, thank god summer is over.
When I lived in Miami, I used to be nut-brown, probably why I'm so wrinkled now.
yep, redhead and white--except for freckles
well there is that... I may never be beautifully tanned, but at least my skin is pretty good.
Oooooh, cute!
Please e-mail me a photo, pugs
me too me too! Photo, I mean. Please :)
when I can I will
I used to love the beach and fishing and sailing. I really miss the ocean
I like the water too and while in Florida and in Texas, I greatly enjoyed the ocean
I think I liked Texas better though
I am a forest person. Amidst the trees I am happiest. In any season.
but of course I was born under the fish sign
ah, I am a Cancer :) We water signs often click, don't we :)
yes we do--feb. the 27th for me
July 8 here.
the day after my hubby's
aw nice :)
rose must of went to bed on us
hm she usually says so. She might have become distracted by nekkid men. Or one man.
sorry, my dears. had to eat, and now for meds and bed. xoxoxox to you all
yeah I know, she seems distracted
lol. Ok rose, sleep well and please be careful tomorrow. You know you can do it. *hugs*
hugs Rose take care at work
she has esp--knows when we talk about her-lol
bye for now, kids, missing several vowel words for nbt but have 131 and going to lie down
have a nice nap, ruby. *hugs*
bye Ruby, rest well--hugs
* poof *
you got all yours Sprite
no, 9 missing here. All Ts, lol.
congrats for I know you will finish here soon
yeah won't be long now.
thank you :)
Iam getting tired myself and think I will take a brk from this--down to 76--a pretty nice grid today
you have a wonderful day and will catch you in the morning
I hope you can rest and sleep a bit. *hugs* and have a grand day tomorrow.
hugs hugs hugs
fireflies. Bye all.
phantom: tergiversation
good morning everyone:))
good morning
howdy ,mlfan
howdy cross
these
oops
you always did give the best clues;))
any good coffee in the pb today?
i wish cross lol
have some nice ceylon orange pekoe tea ready
pekoe?
and toasted english muffins with creamery butter and fresh preserves
black tea
just a nice strong variety that i like.i find teas like green teas and english breakfast and earl grey too weak
oh..cross have you ever had black tea just by itself? I have heard its not bad. But read somewhere white tea is the best health wise
i know the green and white teas are much better for you but they are not to my taste
i find green tea(plain) too sour
they have more flaveniods or some such thing.same as whats in high 70% or more pure chiocolate
is that good or bad?
it is very good for you
cool
so do not be shy about eating those 70,80 or 90% pure chocolate bars you see at the grocer
i have thought about trying black or white tea but if i dont like it no one else will drink it just two of us
you can have some with your green tea:))
white tea is nice when you are doing a batch of iced tea however
i saw in the snapple teas that htey have one that is black and white tea together
i have never had anything from snapple
i have
really good teas but i think the sugar content might be high in them
if i do what a pre-made iced tea i get those ones in the large green cans at the grocers, the kind with ginsing in it
want
and yes,i am sure the sugar content is high
have yet ot have anythign with ginsing init or just by itself .. i am chicken lol
you are dangerous enough to males naturally eh? :))
even though its not tea i tried real ginger ale once.. YUCK
now,if you can find it a quality ginger beer is amazing
how sour is it?
just a tiny bit of tart around the edges but a real taste experience
i am not much of a beer or ale drinker
phantoms "sedate,sedates,sedated"
I used to however, drink raspberry beer which is pretty good
it is not really a "beer" per se
no alocohol
thats true
i have heard of it though
Stats for the first O please?
i do not have it as of yet
my first o is a sworn promise
Third column A?

Une, was a beauty!
yw crossy
une, you must have the best job in the world, delivering furry friends to their forever homes
he was an owner surrender -- can you believe it??
do you know why they gave up the dog?
no idea, annie . . .
well, the official whiskey taster at glenfidditch may have it a tad better, but not by much
the good thing is that he went straight to a foster and didn't spend time in Miami Dade Animal Control
crossy LOL
4th column E?
but i hear you have to kill the last guy to get the job
LOL
ed4/6
(babblet)
ty,une
:-D
Miami Dade Animal Control must be terrible
yep
I pick up from fosters and shelters -- only did animal control a couple of times . . . soooo depressing
((crossy)) Love the new icon.
we are so fortunate here.our shelter is no kill and we have foster families in place for those months when occupancy is high.the new provincial rules and regs for buying a cat or dog are also making a huge difference
ty, ((mimi))
Up early to try and get my work done and still have time in the day for chores.
How are you liking school, crossy?
it is going very well, mimi though after a gap of 33 years,i have had to retrain my mind a bit
I know what you're saying. When I went back after just as long I had to write a 2500 word original research paper complete with references, bibliography, etc. I was so proud to get 100% on it. I hadn't done that kind of paper since I was in my mid-20s. Felt really good to know I could still do a good job.
atm i am learning the intricacies of excel spreadsheets and the math formulaes for the cells
oh! it is now time for something new!! it is time fro crossy's groaner of the day!! it is a tad long but bear with me...
All math ever did for me was lower my grade point average!
A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack. "Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday." Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he knows the bank manager. Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain elephant, about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says, "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is this?" The bank manager looks back at her and says..."It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."
Oh, yeah...a groaner all right..but a fun one.
cute crossy
cold here this am...44 F
I'm stealing that.
bout same here- 9c
can I have any stats for either lower A please?
steal away, kaplan.there are only seven original ideas anyways.the rest is just plagerism
you are in the same area as I am crossy...just further east I think.
like the man said"one book is plagerism,1000 books is research"
and i think he stole that lol
some one wants to be fed...bbiab
So does anyone even want to hear that it's already 84 degrees here at 6 am? We're still getting up into the high 90s every day. They posted the other day that this was the hottest summer on record...yeah, tell me about it.
poor mimi:((
our apple harvests are under way, everyone is home canning like crazy and the sugar maple trees on the mountain are a blaze of oranges, reds, and yellows
I just keep daydreaming about the cabin in the woods, crossy.
it is still there waiting for you, mimi:)
I LOVE autumn and the change of colors in the trees...however, it's a distant memory for me. The only color change here is from dark brown to light brown.
that is not good:(( i can take you on back road and paths through the forest where it is such a dense area, you can actually smell the fgreen and the growing and the moss, and the soft secret deer lays of clover where they let their young sleep. you can smell the water of the streams and brooks as they babble and chuckle over the rocks down to the shores of georgian bay..my god! i am a walt whitman poem! lol
time for meds and another tea i think
Great description, Crossy. I will be hiking later and your words will come back to me.
scrabby!! my friend in nature!
Yes, your fellow tree lover. I found a butternut tree last weekend when hiking and collected nuts.
we are actually doing a 5k route on the bruce trail i have planned for today
ae 5/12
ty for that one,magzel
Today we will hike and collect acorns for craft projrects.
yw don't have the other
last time we were on a spur of the trail, we found a whole bunch of those giant puff ball mushrooms
Lots of mushrooms, from wee to huge.
things were like soccer balls
Wow.
i am told they are a delicacy, but the rule of thumb with the bruce trail is to leave it as you found it
before those giant puff ball mushrooms dry out they are delicious sautéed in butter. grow at the base of oak trees
I would never pick and cook wild mushrooms.
Someone has to be a mushroom expert to do that lest they end up dead or needing a liver transplant.
i know from survival training years ago that our puffballs are quite safe
morning all!
suze!!!
my uncle showed me and I saw him eat one so I felt safe but in general I agree with you
Hu Sue
And hi too
hi crossy, scrabs, magz!!
sh4 = a beauty butter
I was gone for a minute there....Hi to Scrabs and to sue and mag!
and pl
Hello Arizona Wildcat
:))
hi mimi!
hi
I must get to work so I can get done early enough to do household chores. Great connecting with everyone this morning. Hugs all around.
((((mimi))))
Bye Mimi
I just noticed the superlative ending. Now I have to go back over my list.
Crossy, will keep your imagery in my mind.
:) the minds eye is a wonderous thing sometimes.:)
Sure is.
there is a live theatre group from the 80,s that used to work together to do audio books on cassette tapes called the minds eye. they are well worth looking up if you enjoy audio books
each character has its own distinct personality, not just one person droning their way through a book
My brain does not do audio books very well. I am visual so when listening my mind wanders off.
i am mostly that way myself, but i have a 12 cassette boxed set from them as they do the lord of the rings that i treasure.was a gift from my brother in 1988
i should really get it put on disc
I was given 3 boxes of audiobooks and listened to "The Thirteenth Tale." One of my favorite books ever. Historical fiction--my favorite.
there are places that will put your faves on dvd for you, scrabby then you can make copies and pop them on your tablet etc
And at 122/100 I need a break.
well they would most likely turn them into a mp3 or mp4
They will scan the book?
they will take the audio book from cassette and reformat it,but yes i even have an app on my phone that will scan real books as well if needed
they will also do the same with any old 8mm film
or old 16 mm audio tape
Nice. Well, I am going to read the newspaper now, then my hiking buddy will arrive in 90 minutes.
see you later, scrabs!
nice:)) tc scrabby and have a great day:)
Bye, kids!

babbling and watching the skins game, trying to fight needing a nap.
hi...watching the Patriots game here...
<---Trying not to break things while she watches the Redskins game
heh heh...
Molly, at least they are more in this game than the last 2!
Meanwhile, Dallas is winning, the Giants are losing and Philadelphia lost and the division goes straight to hell.
ah...bummer...
There is still hope that Dallas will lose!
Carolina and NY here.
Go Panthers!
(you were referring to NY giants, right?)
Yes.
go panthers!
They are up by 31 but they usually fall apart in the 4th.
That would be a big fall apart when they are up by 31 points.
Yes, but it has been nown to happen.
nown
kkkknown
And Baltimore is winning so basically my whole football day is shot to hell.
I need to go check for pinholes in my eyelids...
I don't mind B'more winning. Different division. I would love to see a beltway Super Bowl.
Oh jeeze, a Beltway Superbowl could result in riots you know.
I guess so.
Why not a Beltway World Series?
I want detest so bad!
I can't root for The Ravens. I still hold a grudge about what happened with The Colts.
Same problem with a Beltway World Series. Too many fans on opposite sides in too close proximity.
but the Ravens had nothing to do with what happened with the colts... The owner of the Colts was an idiot!
Yes Phan, my rational side knows that. My irrational side does not. : )
I hear you. It actually took me until "The Blind Side" to even show a modicum of interest in the Ravens. But I am first a Skins fan and always a Skins fan!
TOUCHDOWN !!!!!!!
I love caught passes ♥
Oh #*&%**@
agreed, Molly! And then the next play!!!!!!
oh sigh!
Seriously? I have watched high school teams play better than this. Pathetic.
very frustrating!

Not too sure about Ovation.
I find the detective very easy to look at.
maybe you can see it on another station or online

hi pen, welcome back
Hi penquis
Hi pen.
ty
this time of the year i spend half my time feeling hot and the other half feeling cold....can't win...
Menopausal women do that all year 'round.
definitely fall here
lol....but i thought i was past that!
It takes a lot more than cool Fall temperatures to make me feel cold.
I love this time of the year. I am always happy
Open windows and fresh air do a lot to perk up my mood.
I love to walk the fluffs really fast in this weather
LOL...I get cold easiliy...already dug out the lap blanket for TV watching and electric mattress pad on at night...but the window remains open a bit..like fresh air
I am your polar opposite, WooTy. I hate blankets, long sleeves and other such warm stuff. And I dread turning on the heat.

Every year we say we aren't going to turn on the heat til the end of Oct. Never happens
So far no heat for us yet bichon...
That is so Montana...so far no heat for us in the middle of September. : D
We are still a few degrees above normal here. Trees starting to turn, cannot wait for our huge burning bush to turn...such a bright red!!

frog loan joke viral.
It starts to get dark here about 7:30pm at the moment, Joso..for when you next plan to see them on webcam.
Thank you for asking how i am though, Molly, Appreciated.
If I had known it was going to be 1.5 hours of updates and installs i wouldn't have bothered, just one of those things that step by step extends. just thought it would be cool for 5 or 10 minutes
That does seem to be a lot of updates and installs just to watch an outside webcam.

The frog loan joke has been around for years.
I have not hear the frog loan joke
The abbreviations are getting smaller..lol
I am so tired today..my eyes are starting to close..not sure if i will finish this one.
Just like the Rudolph The Red knows rain, dear joke.
Not heard the frog loan joke ..doubt i know the reindeer one either.
A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her name plate that the teller's name is Patricia Whack. So, he says, "Mrs. Whack, I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long vacation." Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says "$30,000." The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it is OK, he knows the bank manager. Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny pink porcelain pig, about half an inch tall. Bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says: "There is a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. And he wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink pig. "I mean, what the heck is this?" (are you ready?) (are you sure?) (here it comes!!!) Play Song The bank manager looks back at her and says, "It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."
haha, I like that one
I was going to post a link, so as not to burden the chat.
ah well, bad joso, bad bad
hahahaha yes that is a good one..not heard that one before.
Crosshair and Joso know the same jokes. Cool.

ad + vowel + first two of not boy + Mr Gore
Got it!..nice clue, Molly, Thank you.
yep, molly's got it, cannot think of anything smoother than the piecemeal means
Piecemeal means...another similarity...it's so amusing.
the accidental humorist is prefered over the walking joke, lol
of or relating to a saying of Solomon.
you have to be wise a solomon to know that
(ad7, i.e.)
or, sic. of or relating to madison avenue businesses.
Solomon's wisdom was attributed to his decision to split the baby presented to him as the child of two mothers.
how do you split a baby?
I'd take the non poopy half
sword
but a kinder method might have been to send the babe to a saws-in-half magician
lol..what are you two like teehee.
* picks up all the passed out grandmothers in the chat room*
As luck would have it, Solomon did not have to split the baby. He realized that it was two trying to pass of a baby as one.
*Pass off
was solomon sleeping with several women?
500 wives.
really? puts that guy Jeffers to shame
I thought everyone knew this ruru, Solomon ordered a guardsman to cut the child in half, the guy raised a sword and one of the mothers said give the child to the other, solomon awarded custody to the mother willing to give up the child.
more when you add in the concubines
so much for custody issues in solomon's time :D
maybe they should consider that with Jason Patrick's kid :D
*luft balloons.. lead balloons luft balloons.

Hi E1
hi pug
hi ya Joso---great colts game
if you say so, glad you enjoyed it
hi all. anyone else but me get upset that mentally ill people who want to shoot and kill and use guns arent put away?????????? for good? used to be like that but now they roam free and then the nation is in shock and upset when the kill a bunch of innocent people. same with the shooter from newtown conn. and now the guy at the navy yard. anyone else feel we need to change these laws? and by the way, did you know if he does go to prison and gets put on meds, they let him out and no one, thats right, no one monitors that he is taking his meds!
its not over just yet
solomon had wives from all over the place. hard to imagine what good a wife was when you have 500. i mean if i were wife number 345 i would see hubby every 500 days at best to have a nice romantic night. how horrible.
most seriously mentally ill people don't kill, aren't dangerous
and most of the 'famous' killers aren't discovered to be mentally ill until after the fact
like the newtown man
the newtown man had previous gun incidents in his history
it would be surpassing cruel to 'put away' severely ill people just because they are ill.
known only to his mother
and the va
anyway, the point is that there is no way to predict who will kill.
if he got the care entitled to him from the va the whole thing may have been avoided
Mkg, I am disheartened by the Navy Yard shooting. Once again, lack of mental health causes tragedy and death.
if someone has a history of violence and is known to be schizofrenic, then they are a potential harm to society. how are they different from someone caught selling drugs? both harm society. i say if someone is a potential harm to society he should have to be monitored to take his meds if he is free. period.
that's the ft collins man. i don't think they knew he was sick. anyway, it's not the underlying point
The Navy Yard shooter had a history of mental health problems.
people don't choose to be schizophrenic
lets get more mental health coverage at high rates (80%) and it will at least help. now it is 60% coverage for mental illness and 80% for other disease. when will we realize that mental illness is a threat to society sometimes?
mab i know they dont choose it. but i have two cousins with the disease and both were verified not to be a threat or harm to society. this can be documented by psychiatrists and then they are free to do what they wish.
that makes more sense, mkg, and would be the compassionate thing to do if managed properly.
We have a nation of psychologists and psychiatrists closing their practices because insurance regulations will not let them treat people the way they should be treated.
most states commit people known to be a danger to self or others
you cant tell me that the navy shrinks didnt know of this mans issues with guns and violence. they just chose not to state unequivically that he was a potential threat to society. used to be that then they were held so they took meds and did better.
I take care of my sister, she has schizophrenic and I have to monitor her daily on taking meds because they lose track of time
45 states have laws that make outpatient med compliance mandatory
the question is: is our society too free? is there such a thing as so much freedom that the society pays for this?
mab there is no way this is really monitored.
Oh no, most States don't. There is a huge population of homeless, mentally ill people because the States will not get into the mix.
so why wasnt this man committed if the shrinks knew of his arrests etc?
oh, yes there is. and bless you puglet.
the navy shrinks never spoke to him, he had applied for care but it hadn't been processed yet, so i suppose me saying the va knew is false.
our nation as a whole is so passive that the entire population is at risk! foster care isnt monitored. kids who are abused often are put back into their homes without proof that it wont happen again. the list goes on and on. it is a shame. a real shame.
Laws in place vs. laws enforced are two totally different things. If this country had adequate mental health care and legislation, we would not be dealing with shooting after shooting.
i think you need to check your facts. and i would have a hard time accepting a less free country in terms of who is in and who is out
the beaurocracy is too complex so that many things fall through cracks. sad sad sad.
gun laws, stand your ground laws?
my swedish au pairs said no one is homeless in sweden. if they are mentally ill and cant take care of themselves they are put into homes which care for them. i dont know which way is right..............very difficult.
even without guns a mentally ill person can murder with knives. not that i dont feel we must have tighter controls...
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
hi min!
What is the priority? Gun laws, stand your ground laws, or the mental health care of the people allowed to obtain the guns?
enough
hi min
a mentally ill 16 year old murdered his neighbors with knives and was freed on bail 6 years later. with no one to monitor meds after 12 months of compliance. when his shrink in prison was asked if he would be capable of murder again if he went off meds the shrink said yes. it is sad. sad sad.
i am all for freedom for every mentally ill person who is not a societal risk. but for those who are a danger i am for not giving them their freedom. thats all. in newtown i believe no one knew the kid was ill. that was a different story but this guy was known. that is what i find so sad. thats all. and maybe i am wrong that he was missed. maybe there was no way to see this coming.
oh well. sorry to bother everyone.
back to the grid.
You didn't bother me, mkg. It's nice to be able to have an adult conversation here before someone shuts it down.
unfortunately there is no way to 100% insure there arent injustices done no matter what. but we do need better mental health care. that is my opinion. world wide it would be great to have more shrinks.
I just got to Babbleland and was not part of the convo. But from what I've read so far, I think I tend to agree with mkg
i need clue for the word of the E bottom row 4th column please. one word only.
Hi Min. A giant ice cream cone for all!
On a lighter note, I have just posted a story of clues about the Emmy Awards in my profile if any babblers needs clues.
ed4 mr bunkers wife, - it, then pluralised
food will make things all better
i have that one but not from the bottom row e. sorry.
Good clue from earlier...ea4...a direction with a lisp.
ty got it. super clue.
taking a break now.
As reported by Jonathan Metzl in The Lancet (“Why are the Mentally Ill Still Bearing Arms?â€, Volume 377, Issue 9784, Pages 2172 - 2173, 25 June 2011), “According to Columbia University psychiatrist Paul Appelbaum, less than 3-5 percent of American crimes involve people with mental illness, and the percentages of these crimes that involve guns are actually lower than the national average — particularly when alcohol and drugs are taken out of the mix.†http://tinyurl.com/b6sx446 ht\ntp://tinyurl.com/mjs8av2
MollyL,I posted that picture yesterday thinking it was Sept. 22nd, yesterday so I kept it for today. It sure is a BIG cone!
Mental disorders are common in the United States and internationally. An estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older — about one in four adults — suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.1 When applied to the 2004 U.S. Census residential population estimate for ages 18 and older, this figure translates to 57.7 million people.2 Even though mental disorders are widespread in the population, the main burden of illness is concentrated in a much smaller proportion — about 6 percent, or 1 in 17 — who suffer from a serious mental illness.1 In addition, mental disorders are the leading cause of disability in the U.S. and Canada.3 Many people suffer from more than one mental disorder at a given time. Nearly half (45 percent) of those with any mental disorder meet criteria for 2 or more disorders, with severity strongly related to comorbidity.1
Whether it is 26.2 percent or a core 6 percent, those with mental disorders do not account for a higher percentage of violent acts ... what is being done about the other 95 percent? As I pointed out the other day, the US has five percent of the world's population and 25 percent of the incarcerated. Yet, the gun violence goes on and on.
What is and isn't considered a mental disorder is socially adjustable and also defined by the medical establishment and the insurance companies. There are spectrum disorders, and the lines drawn to qualify as a disorder are subject to change. They are not fixed, and there is also cultural determinism.
But I bare my arms all the time.
and I really liked the Kermit Jagger bit this morning.
Big Pharma is a major player.
nuff said. I go back to my hole now.
DSM VI will have Babble disorder.
babble disorder with psychotic features
I agree with Molly about the need for more and better treatment. Yet, the mentally ill, traumatized veterans and other dysfunctionals are simply budget items.
Prevention is even batter. Like having social network and support and safety net- before the pathologies build.
For sure. What is your state doing about prevention?
Massachusetts?
We have Romneycare.
what des the 9 start with?
My state has general practitioners who do not want to deal with mental disorders and too many see no need to a referral for a mental health evaluation even if their patient divulges what might be considered a disorder.
the 9 starts with h....
is it a plural of an 8>
yes
May I have a clue for sa6/21?
ya gotta have sa6/21 (add a vowel)
My congressional delegation says the solution is to keep guns out of the hands of the irresponsible, including those with mental disorders. Good idea. Then the delegation votes against any measure the deals with gun control. They prize guns because it means votes ... so guns are more important than lives.
like belief in religion but starting with a different letter....and adding a vowel...
whew. thanks ruru and pen. I'd been banging my head for a while for that.
Walmart has a strong Lobby BR
seems so obvious now. lol
it's easier to buy guns than smokes
and they're cheaper
I am sure they do. But that is my point. Gun money means getting reelected.
not really
joke
that was to mab
I agree BR.. I'm not sure how many mass killings it will take to finally push some stronger laws through
smokes are almost ten dollars here.
they should be $50 :D
they are a great target for more taxation
yes they are
The NRA is a very powerful organization.. to be sure

Dr. G should change the name of this game to "Lurk Babble"
No kidding.
or Lurkabble
or Babblurk...
It's hip to be a lurker.
The Emmy Awards are on. No need to watch, it will be a Breaking Bad sweep.
I wrote about the Emmy Awards in my story of clues today.
does anyone care about the emmy's anyway?
All the people who are rabid about Breaking Bad do.
oh
well the other shows shouldn't meth around with Breaking Bad
Hello Babblers and Babblurkers
I watch it, I'm intrigued to see how it ends, but I think it is totally over rated.
they are Blurkers wht :D
Flurking Blurkers.
hi wht
maybe Balurkers?
I don't.I liked the Emmy's when there was actually good TV shows to watch. I care more about the Oscar awards now.
I like to watch the Oscars and see how S-faced Jack Nicholson is :D
The problem with the Emmy Awards is that most of the nominated shows are on premium cable stations that many people don't get.
bets on what Elton John will sing?
*Hopes for anything but Candle In The Wind*
good evening. I don't watch any of the award shows.
.. or Benny and the Jets.. or Saturday Night is alright for FIghting .. ugh
Hello phandmd! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
me neither Phan..
evening all!
Hi just starting. We watched the Seahawk, Jacksonville football game and now are coming up for air. Me to Babble.
too much goop and pomp and fakeness
Hi, Min. Doing okay, despite the fact that the skins lost yet again!
how are you Min?
*borrows hanky from Lil Monkey for Phan*
<---Burning Redskins jersey
don't do it, Molly!
I am well.I gave up on grid this morning, so not too helpful
*tosses 49er jersey on the fire*
*Loves a Fall bonfire*
My good friend Matt & his wife had their first daughter in June - his line was "the Skins have not won a game in my daughter's lifetime"
LOL
I suspect he's going to get a lot of mileage out of that line this season.
might come up every sunday for a bit :D
we also got a little punchy rooting for the new kicker Harry Potter and his fellow Robert Griffindors
Robin Williams is doing a nice, and funny, tribute to Jonathan Winters.
Does anyone have a clue for the ad7?
bonfire etymology: 1550s, from Middle English banefire (late 15c.), originally a fire in which bones were burned.
I do, WHT!
Molly, which Jersey do you have? I have 81!
Thank you phand. Would you mind sharing?
Oh, I am so sorry. I thought you asked if anyone wanted a clue.
hi how's everyone
Silly me!
eths
ad + vowel + first two of not boy + Mr. Gore
oops!
I sure wish I knew how to read!
ok I need to stop trying salsa and ladle
I thought we buried the bones around here :D
Hi Gwen.
*Ladles 2Bit some salsa*
needs more habanero
ty Molly
My salsa usually does. : )
i'd settle for some plain white rice . . .
Put the habenaro on Molly's redskins jersey. That should burn it.
Word Origin C15: alteration (through influence of French bon good) of bone-fire; from the use of bones as fuel
Gwen is such a gourmet.
glad I scrolled back, I found your clue, Molly
yepper
stats for the right column A?
ae5,12 I think
ae5/12
(yep, just found it, well, a few minutes ago)
got it thanks both
Hello Book Doctor Gwen! How are you?Welcome to the grid
hi there min, i'm hangin' in there, you?
Nice tribute to Jean Stapleton by Rob Reiner.
where's that, facebook?
nbt, woot
No, on the Emmy Awards.
may I have a clue for the 8/9 I assume pair?
he 8/60 word is he 4/6 word plus the ga 4/6 word & plural
Opposite of what you do before a football game?
I think it might include the he 4/6 but can't figure the rest if it does
oh! got it!
so proud of myself!
I'm well Book Doctor Gwen.Got jury duty tomorrow though
See, you didn't need a clue after all. Ask and ye shall receive is Biblical. Ask and ye shall find it before someone can clue it is Babblical.
so true, Molly!
Can someone clue the o in the bottom of the first column, please?
ty, new word on me
that o is os4
It is a plurar, tabby.
A common babblet
or plural.
which court, Min, (as in Circut, or federal)
os 4/4 word is os plus 80s band the **scape Club tabbycat.
New song by Elton John, Ru. A tribute to Liberace, "Home Again".
i had jury duty about a year ago. got as far as elimination round 1, when i got eliminated LOL
Don't know,maybe circuit. It is a small case. Won't la4 long
I sat on a personal injury appeal case.
Min, I have been called a number of times. One time I was selected for a civil trial. It was a fascinating experience.
Duh...thanks
It is the NY State Unified Court system whatever th4 means
al 6?
When I was called, it was a Friday in August. I figured there was no way a trial was going to be starting that day. Trial lasted two weeks.
was it an interesting case at least?
I would rather be at work than at jury duty. The only good thing about jury duty is th4 I don't have to do the commute
The la4 time I did jury it was an age discrimination case. It eventually got thrown out court and didn't la 4/4 too long.
hunting for al 6, nothing so far
It was very interesting. Basically the president of one company left to start his own company and the owner sued over a number of bogus reasons, we presumed to punish him for his disloyalty.
But the lawyers on both sides were top-notch.
found the al 6 : al + definite article + vowel (the whole is a girls' name, not common thought)
and plural that
And you could tell that there was a lot of history, including a separate case in Federal court that turned out to be on copyright issues. But as members of the jury, we get a very circumscribed view of what is going on outside of the specific issues put before us.
Ok,Babble jurors, should we sent wht over to th4/4 PB now
*send
hi, folks
Ok,Babble jurors, should we sent wht over to th4/5 PB now
Hello welki! How are you doing today? Welcome to the log
But I was pleasantly surprised at how well the process works. It really is a good idea to present the evidence to 12 everyday people and let them hash it out.
doing well, thanks. how are you doing, min? settled into the new school year?
wht, maybe you should ha 4/6 out your word list in the PB.
What goodies are in the PB today, Min. I might go voluntarily.
nice to read that the system works the way it's supposed to, wht
Just as I am getting settled I get interrupted with jury duty
Who knows! There might be some ha4/6 if you are into th4 kind of stuff.
inconvenient, i'm sure
I'm going to take an Emmy Award break.I will see you later
Ew Min, ha4/6 is not a goodie.
Never touched it in my life!
unless ya smokes it
corned beef ha4 - that's what she meant :)
*Puts apple pie in the PB for Wht*
i believe you can smoke that, too lol
Th 4/5's what I meant, corned beef & ha4/6! Thanks welki
Thanks Molly. Way better than ha4
neighbor made a pumpkin roll for dessert last night and made an extra for us - time for a real goodie :)
or you can marinade it in a white wine sauce and then fry it!
*Turns on fan to blow Gwens ha4 smoke out of the chat log*
That smoke from my fireworks.
Wow, Breaking Bad loses the writing award to Homeland.
woo hoo wht !!!!!!!!
(i thought you had fireworks, no?)
*so much for Breaking bad sweeps* :D
I did. thanks.
i opened the list and now finding a lot of --ed words i missed
well, then, woo hoo again wht !!!!!!
Well, Anna Gunn won for best supporting actress in a drama (Breaking Bad) so we will so how the rest goes. Now suffering through Neil Patrick Harris doing song and dance. *Gag*
Gwen, thank you for the AL 6 clue awhile back. I got distracted and when I came back remembered I had asked and scrolled back, glad it was still on the screen!
grrrrrr
** finito ** last word HE 4/6 - BNabble-blinbd to this word
wtg wv !!!!!!
why do they do those dumb song and dance stuff with people who can't sing and can't dance
WHT, that does sound like an interesting case.
no comment
I don't know and this was the dumbest of the dumb song and dance bits.
It was. I enjoyed it. Of course, once it was over, all the jurors started Googling the case to find out the back story.
Name: This Is The Number In The Middle Of The Shoooowwww!!!!
Not kidding
The hardest part of being on the jury is that you cannot talk about the case, even with other jurors, before the deliberations begin.
in hindsight, did you like your decision?
sounds like someone did not get the joke . . . 8-)
Yes I did. Except that we would have awarded more damages if we knew more about the principals.
well, that is satisfying then!
"Not getting the joke" is a registration requirement here.
Oh boy, we just started Breaking Bad. wonder what is instore for tonight.
The one thing I was never able to find out was if he ever had to pay up. I figured that with the bad blood between the parties, the decision was likely to be appealed.
no doubt
there are libraries you can check to see if the decision was appealed, wht
probably an online database
But that would require me to remember the name of the case, and this was a number of years ago.
fireworks!!
not really - if you remember the appellate court it would have been heard it, you can probably do a boolean search, if you remember partial names, dates, etc
Perhaps, welki, but I am willing to live with some mystery in my life. :^)
interesting, but not that interested *lol*
that doesn't read the way i would have said it, wht - what i meant is that the case held your interest, but not enough to pursue it further
I think you are right on both counts.
Well good night all.
*Snoozing through Carrie Underwood and her rendition of The Beatles "Yesterday" *
Nite wht, Hi everyone
Meanwhile, definitely no sweep for Breaking Bad. Best Actor: Jeff Daniels, Best Supporting Actor: Some guy from Boardwalk Empire.
it's awful when a great song gets butchered
Bobby Cannavale from Boardwalk Empire.
al 5/12?
al*** the dinner was good, dessert was excellent.
Stupid spelling of al8 I would like to give you a clue, I think you can figure it out yourself.
ha! I often use that spelling in my informal writing, Molly! I should be slapped to have not found it on my own.
Bless you Phan. As a writer, informal writing gives me the eebie geebies.
I bet!
hi everyone!
Good Evening Everyone. How are you all tonight?
hi Nef!
test, test, test
am I on?
It looks like we're the only non-lurkers right now, Jen. How are you doing lately?
(sorry I'm a bit slow tonight; long day.
working on the farm in Farmville!
oh-oh. I found that FB games are WAY too time consuming several years ago; so the only thing I play there is Words with Friends
this game can be time consuming
it must be because people are always doing it.
de 5 /14?
do you have de6/24?
yes, I do.
take the last letter off
oh, I need the one after that. Sorry
that's okay, it's the only one I have
thanks anyway.
Sorry, I don't have either of the de words since I've just started; and I'm doing poor in chat too since I'm buried in the grid
Ugh. Hitting a brick wall at 119
just found a de 5/6 combo, means "after life" and pl
after life, nef
dang, you beat me to it
hi all....de6/21 the opposite of pepper
LOL, Jen; typical Babble timing, wasn't it?
thanks, cgypsy!
yw
could either of you tell me HOW one de6s anything? I'm a bad cook and never found a way to do that
lol me either nef
Start over and don't make the mistake the second time?
:)
Great answer, T & T
Or toss it out and order pizza
there you go....better yet!
LOL! I like that one better! :-D
:))
My usual fix is to tell hubby he can try. Lol. Funny thing in our household. We are both pretty good at following a recipe. But he does better cooking while I do better baking.
About the only thing I ever bake is angel food cake (from a box mix) for a birthday. DH does all the baking and we both do the cooking
de6/21 has to do with seawater
I guess taking it out of seawater?
de 6 goes with depepper
now that would make sense, Jen. That's something I didn't think of (and didn't look up the definition either) <blush>
hi ruru
lol
I looked it up, hi Nef!
