hi rose!
hi rose
hey dee, jilli, ruru, jbp
I think lickety did... not positive haven't checked for it yet
you may want to know that newfies is not in the grid. just trying to provide a service here, fo9lks
granny .. I need to borrow some of your pain meds :D
and hi Rose
my back is killing me today
Hi Rose
what did you do, ru?
despite the rain, quite warm here. except when the breeze gets up late afternoon. even had a nanna nap today
dunno jilli.. just been bothering me
done to 7... still missing one 7
hey liz...awww, ruru, you poor man...
did you lift too heavy boxes
it certainly isn't from what you think it is :D
en 7, fi 7, we 7 is all I got
been driving a lot lately dee
so7
I keep telling mrs ru I need a nice new comfortable sports car for my back
that will surely do it, too... I use ice packs when I ride a lot in the car
ty rose!
sitting in the same position too much
that'll do it every time ruru. the vibration from the car....fatal for sore backs.
Ouch! Feel better Ru
i had to drive 6 hours today and it was already hurting this morning
moke4ys working on it. Ru, I feel your pain. seriously, chronically
my pt taught me to use tennis balls
and I didn't have any of jilli's chili to fortify me
rest them under the part that hurts on each side.
seriously ru... There are some gel packs that when frozen will last 5 to 6 hours. I use those and regular oldfashioned ice bags (like the ones on cartoons).
ru should have lots of tennis balls, unless Dylan has chewed them all up
Tennis balls help, too.
I have even used frozen bottles of water.
well, with 55, my back and I are off to bed. nite, all!
I can't be around tennis balls anymore .. too depressingt
nite jb
Night jbp - sleep well
night jb.. take care
I couldn't see that tw 8 to save my life until the last second
the other thing to do, is lie on your tummy, on the bed, and slowly push your chest off the mattress. the natural curve in your lower back curves inward. vibration makes the discs prolapse and the curve starts to straighten. this exercise helps the discs to go back where they belong. do up to five times, slowly is the key, and then as dee suggests ice pack, hot pack, ice pack hot pack. it breaks the muscle spasms.
I do that almost daily, rose. Great advice.
okay..i'll try that granny..push my chest off with what my arms?
no. you dip stick.....nah, won't say it. yes mate, with your arms.
*shocked look*
lolol, ruru. since when am i able to shock you??
fireworks sans list :)
Congrats Dee
ty vm the stupid fi 4/8 was my last word.... didn't think to go north :(
WTG DEE!!!
ty rose
You getting psyched for your surgery this month?
dee, this week i'm gonna forget about it. am touring the country-side with DH for 7 days.
wonderful!!! Hope you are having a great time! We got our first snow here tonight!
are you on the road yet rose
next week a different story as i will be trying to get ready for christmas as well. have already bought the cards and most of the gifts i need.
hey ya, mate. surely am. weather wet but warm.
have seen some magical views. when we get home, will get himself to post them for me
Wow! Haven't even started thinking about all that yet.. we are having an open house for a friend's son, who just got married... can't seem to get past that.
dee, i have to do it all a month early.....don't think i will be exactly up to it post-op. but then again...
Well I suppose it's ok, if you like the tropical parricide-heaven on earth type of thing rose.
Smart to get it done in advance.
Well, I am off til the flip. Enjoy your day / eve!
joso, your icon pic isn't showing up in your profile, and my glasses just ain't that good
*poofing with hugs*
night, dee. hope you sleep well
you, too, rose :)
thanx, hun
what, is there a blank square there
no, just the rail baron pic
g'nite dee
maybe refresh, should be a photo
well well, FW -- first for a loooong time.
okay, hang on a tick
What a great photo, joso. I bet flosey is as sweet as she looks. Glad you all had a meet-up.
she is the one in the middle
wahhh, that didn't work
maybe oz is just behind the times, perhaps tomorrow?
flosey look tiny there, but she isn't -- she'll tall and stately -- and yes, a sweetie.
hey peach...is joso's new icon in his profile when you open it?
ugh, typo time. Redo. Flosey looks tiny there, but she isn't -- she's tall...etc
i see joso, flosey and cross..... and you folks look a lot ,like my poker buddies...
i see joso, flosey and cross..... and you folks look a lot ,like my poker buddies...
i see joso, flosey and cross..... and you folks look a lot ,like my poker buddies...
joso -- did you a flosey talk bridge?
*and flosey
red boxes
okay now
Yes, Rose.
flosey is trim, well turned out, very much a lady, quiet-spoken, very nice
no, crosey did most of the talking
why am I not surprised?
he's quite a chatter on FB, lol!
I spoke the next most, flosey was reserved
yes, she's a quiet one, I know.
It will be good to have her back here!
the photo was taken in a restaurant booth with crosey standing, so that is why she appears short.
And now it's bedtime for me...goodnight all...*poof
but joso -- you were sitting, weren't you? And towering over her!
*repoof
I am kind of reaching up to get my arm over the back of the booth, and in the pic
I do not picture glossy as quiet
Flosey.... dawn spell check
she was that day, but I think she has a strong core.
Damn...damn..spell check
I am looking forward to meeting her one day
good morning, Babble friends
okay, the problem is that java won't load onto my laptop. will sort it when we get home. joso, saw your pic....you are exactly as i thought you, flosey and crossy would look like.
{{spritey}} xoxox
*hugs rose* Hi my dear friend, how are you doing today?
Wonders what granny thinks I look like
very relaxed today. had a nanna nap this afternoon. and you, dear?
oooo nothing like a nap. I am ok. Yesterday was awful but am trying to bounce back.
lolol, ruru, one day i may even tell you...
A nanna..nap?
lol ruru. Well errrr....
yeah, sprite, missed you yesterday. what happened?
it was therapy day, hun. Won't be here on Mondays until half of march. And argh, lunch therapy order was to eat a bammy your neighbour had made for you.
yes, ruru, a nanna nap...was lulled to sleep by the gentle clicking of DH's mouse as he played his games on the laptop.
oh, dear, sprite. and your bammy was ??
my neighbour was one of the new people... and he gave me bread with butter, cheese and tomato and cucumber. I hate hate hate all of that combined. Never eat butter. don't do cheese on bread. Don't do anything wet around cheese. *shudder*
which isn't bad in itself... but then being forced to eat while I hate it triggered the old dear dad traumas... of the food being beaten into me... and whoppa, flashback.
Wet?
cucumber and tomato... wet stuff
awww, sprite...gentle hugs, dear. how awful for you!
Oh. They are not exactly wet
and then the therapist insisted I try to eat another bammy with something I did like... but I couldn't eat anymore cause my throat and stomach were totally constricted. Such joy. One single bite... and then she said herself it was impossible for me.
ruru, to sprite they are wet....
well... ruru... leave them on the cheese for a few minutes, then lift them. See what I mean?
am ok, rose. Bit of a rough night, with bad nightmares and such. But trying to convince myself it is over now ;)
Well I Have To Agree The Butter Seems Gross
hmmmm, ruru, did you know margarine is one step away, chemically, from plastic. i either have nothing, or a smear of butter if i must. usually go with nothing.
Nite to self...don't take sprite to a Subway Sandwich shop when she visits the US
oh we could, ruru. Just let me pick my own sandwich... with NO butter :)
I don't ever eat magazine
*giggles* Don't you love autocorrect?
...spell check. Arrrrrrrrrgh....
going out for dinner. xoxox sprite. hope tomorrow/today is better for you. ruru, mate, please do that exercise.
enjoy, rose :) *hugs*
Granny?
see you at the flip. * poof *
ooops, nearly closed you...yes ruru?
No wet stuff
:D Not in the restaurant anyway
ROFLOLOL.....goodnight!!!
Yeah take it outside
lol... rose sent on her way, laughing out loud, and Don asking what the heck is so funny.
I love doing that
:)
rehi all
hiya joso :)
Hi
loved the picture of your babble meet
sorry, my internet kicked out for a bit
glad you liked it
did you have a good time? Sure looks that way.
sorry your group was rough, i guess it's one of those no pain no gain situations
yeah I didn't go there to avoid all confrontations. We will see what comes out of this.
yes, thoroughly enjoyed myself, and I think they did too
am glad, joso. You three look beautiful together.
weeeell, I think that's a stretch, but flosey's presence drags the group average up a notch or 2
actually... I hold the eye of the beholder and I say you are beautiful
what a nice beholder, tyvm
:)
still no sign of pug huh, i hope it's computer problems and not something more dire.
was thinking the same thing
well crossy's wife was there too, she took the photo, she and crossy are very sweet together.
they had to be. It shows in every post from crossy. And back in the days when Elegant still could babble a little bit, it was the same with her.
anyone have a clue for the NE 8?
it was a blustery day with on and off smattering of rain. When we left the restaurant I was half afraid the wind would blow flosey away. She said she was close enough to walk home but I offered her a lift anyway. I almost didn't, embarrassed because my car was a mess, and I thought close would be 2 or 3 blocks. Glad I did as close was 10-15 blocks. I am convinced she would have walked without another word If I hadn't offered. She was also gracious about the state of my car, said it made her feel at home as he hubby keeps his truck in the same condition.
sorry joy, don't have it yet
hi joym, the most not gross?
awww she is a real lady. And you are a gentleman.
thx sprite that one was driving me crazy!
yvw, joym, and I know that feeling :)
joso, you look very professorial in the photo; quite distinguished.
hi mab :)
hmmm, maybe a liberal arts prof
that ne 10 is the most of a kind of stocking style.
are you?
no, at the moment I'm a bum
i doubt that
a fishy kind of stocking
at this age I can get away with semi retired, but if I don't get a job fairly soon I'll change from bum to homeless bum, lol
makes more sense than my clue
do they come in a can ... sardine stockings?
*grins* Nice one. Hi o-o, am glad to see you.
oh, sprite, i didn't realize you given a clue
np mab, yours is better :)
i love a nice pair of anchovy stockings, right out of the can is best
except during spawning season -- they run
I shall not be bullheadish about it
lol
i made a pun! where's ruru
I want fox, I like foxes, foxy, foxes, foxed, so close and so far away

Good icon for remembrance day, o-o. Am remembering too, today.

not too bad, joso. Expect to be able to send you guys the first chapter soon.
good, looking forward to it
glad to hear you're writing, sprite. i remember now that you've published several books.
hope I won't disappoint you, joso :)
am happy to be doing it again. Now to hope I haven't lost my touch ;)
fw
gratz, Jackanory
i don't think so. it seems that it's like anything: one gets into shape by doing the thing. the main thing is to have the talent and skill to begin with.
Hey sprite, titles?
yeah, doing it daily is important. Just sit and write. No excuses.
which you'demonstrated you have, ms sprite
they are in Dutch, Jack... Jirelle and De Duistere Stroom... should translate them, but it is a load of work to do so.
it;s so hard. you think of the craziest things to do instead.
thanks mab :) Am enjoying it again, which is the most important thing, I think.
like collecting trash on the sidewalks, or dying your hair blue or something
Oh, can't read then then unfortunately. Cannot imagine being so proficient in two languages
too true. And on a computer even more... writing a line... opening mail... oh no, writing more... looking up a word... getting sidetracked by some google thing... oh no, write!
I hope to be able to translate them some day, Jack. Must reclaim the data on my backup hd... which is damaged... to get at the original.
I could do the blue hair thing ...
What sort of books?
yes, i keep looking at the panda cam even though the pandas are almost always sleeping.
I regularly update my amnesia chronicles ... been doing it for years with little to show for it ...
I work from home and unless i have a real deadline it's only too easy to get distracted by email, google, washing, whatever really
*giggles* maybe you just forgot who far you were
fantasy books, Jack
oh mab, I would too :)
Cool
fireflies. Nice grid. Too small though.
have to be off... bye all, have a peaceful evening and a blessed day
be well, sprite

done and I am wondering where has Molly gone to?
She's still working on her evidence, I think.
And hello, Annie.
Hi Haz, I am way beyond the loop. What happened while I was busy babbling? Pray tell.
Oh, it's been going on for a while now. She hinted very heavily that she believes that crosshair and joso are not separate people. No evidence offered but crosshair and joso got together with flosey and offered a picture of proof that they exist as two separate people.
Greetings to all.
Hello, Scrabbler.
haz, british pronunciation question for you
I thought of you when I had lunch at the Irish Tea Room in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada 2 wks ago. Owned and operated by Irish folks. We love going there.
in trollope's barchester series, the grantly family lives at plumstead episcopi, is this correctly pronounced with the final i as "ee" ?
Okay, mystery cleared up. Thanks for the explanation. There happens to be a person that comes in and out as a child but he has not been here in a while in either form. End of that.
Hi Hurshy and Annie. Is you tooth problem resolved yet, Annie?
hurshy, it depends on who has taught you Latin. I'd probably say -ee but others might say eye.
No! Friday is the day for the new tooth and fitting. I have a good feeling it will be okay. The dentist was very apologetic.
That tea-room sounds good, Scrabbler. I hope scones were on the menu.
Scones, banoffee pie, mocha cheesecake, boxty, beets, etc. And, of course, Irish tea!
I love English teas. We used to go the the Plaza Hotel for them. The lemon curd was my favorite, also, the cucumber sandwiches and the impeccable service.
Made in a teapot, I hope.
Annie, life is better without health or dental problems. And without car or computer problems...or house problems...just without any problems.
interesting.
oh i LOVE banoffee pie!!!
Afternoon tea is so civilised, isn't it?
very civilized, an oasis in the craziness of 59th street
Once we were in the Tea Room and heard people speaking Irish (Gaelic? Erse?) with a newlywed couple from Ireland. we were fascinated listening to them.
Fireworks. Well, that was relatively quick and painless.
bananas, toffee, and cream are a very winning combination
Yay, Judi!
yay for judi
Yes, Haz, very civilized. We could use it here in the US.
well I'M having some morning tea with Social Tea Biscuits
hurshy, close but no cigar
There are places that serve high tea here. I can think of three off the top of my head. Never been actually. Must give it a go.
hey, if it makes me happy...
well, I am off, much to do today, bye dear babblers
hurshy, was only joshing :)
Bye, Annie. Enjoy the day.
i know :)
I'll try to drag hubby along with me. Although, I'm sure he'll think his raised pinky might be taken the wrong way.
Afternoon tea has been having quite a revival over here. I just love having a cakestand to work through. Some of the places will give you a box to take away leftovers.
Bye, Annie, have a good day.
as long as it's the pinky and not the middle finger, i think it would be ok, judi.
LOL, *poof*
hi all. my cat is sick and I am taking her to the vet this afternoon :(
i feel your pain, peri - what's wrong with yours?
Oh, no, Peri. What is going on?
long standing kidney issues and now heart problems. she has not eaten in 2 days and no peeing :(
oh dear, that's bad. *hugs*
she is awake and alert but not climbing up on my be or my chair like she has been in the past. that breaks my heart.
hi all, i just went through that with Miss Bean, age 16. so sad
Oh, no. Poor kitty. Good luck. Keep us posted.
It is panic-inducing when our babies get sick.
How old is Zoe-Ann now, peri?
thanks, hursh. she will be 18 in Feb.
my bed even
harpjane, what was the outcome?
the vet I am taking her to is the most empathetic of all those I have seen in the practice.
That is reassuring, Peri
she took a sudden turn for the worse and was gone within a day.
I would prefer that zoe-anne die at home but I will see what the vet has to say.
she (my cat) looks like she has lost weight and is walking more slowly too :(
I am beside myself with anxiety
Oh, Jane, I am so sad for you.
I am sorry for your loss, Jane.
peri, I am sorry you have this anxiety. She's been a part of your life for such a long time.
she has indeed. she has been a true and loyal companion.
Peri, I am always a nutcase when one of my bunnies gets ill, or when I know the end is near. Most recent death was June 2011 and it remains clear in my mind.
it was difficult because she was a guest, while my niece spent a year in Ireland. I think the stress of the move, and being with my obnoxious cat, added to her age, brought it on.
nbt
Even tougher loss, Jane.
I passed halfway so I must get on with my day. I must shop for my mother and bring everything to her.
Nice to see you, Scrabbler.
Good-bye, my Irish friend.
I am missing an O. I have of6x3 and ox4.
There are 4 of words

Good morning, everyone !

Not sure.... just getting started.
yes sue
Three do
ty
The last of6 does not...Sorry.
ty
Just catching up on chat - Peri, I am so sorry. Just cuddle her at the end (probably at the vets - these kidney things can go fast and are sometimes very painful toward the end. Over 30 years we have had two cats die this way, and they each let us know when to take them off to the vet (one of them in the middle of the night!). But the pain stays with you a long while.

my sweet fur baby, Zoe-Anne is on her way to Rainbow Bridge. It was time to let her go.
fur baby?
my cat
Rainbow Bridge is where pets go when they die.
and on the way to Valhalla, my condolences peri
What happened to her?
she had kidney and heart problems and had lost weight. not eating or drinking in past few days. She was almost 18 years old.
ty joso.
So sorry to hear that Peri. Horrible decision to have to make
ty so much. it was a very difficult decision but the vet and I decided it was the best way to go.
I have had many cats over the years and had to make those sort of decisions quite often. 18 was a good age but it doesn't make it any easier, does it?
sounds like she may be better off, hard thing to deal with regardless, I hope your mind shifts from grief to fond memories quickly
she was my third cat but it was the first time I had to make the decision to let her go.
Sorry you had to go through that peri. The hardest decision to make, but the only thing to do sometimes, the ultimate act of love
I feel for you, i really do.
ty both
it's a rough decision to make, you need a certain amount of steel mixed with your compassion and love to do it well. Aiding people to make these choices always seemed to be one of the big down sides to being a vet.
that it the way I felt, Chrissie
bye for now
Bye peri
Peri, we've not met but accept my condolences. I had to make the same decision for my 19 1/2 y.o. cat for nearly the same reason last month.
Take care and allow yourself to grieve
Sorry for your loss too Reader
Ty
Her picture has been my icon from the start.
She's beautiful. I've never seen such symmetrical markings!
How lovely, how much do we love our pets
she looks so self possessed and sure of herself, a gorgeous cat reader
Taken when she was about 8. She knew she wan't supposed to be on the table and I couldn't resist taking the picture. Then she jumped down on her own.
She was Joso. R.i.p. Blaze
so sorry for your loss, Peri and Reader.
Sorry, Peri, for your loss.
I am wondering how much longer I will have with my Bagheera
Oh, and Reader, I am sorry for your loss too.
our pets really do become like family.
and I see, I am talking to no one...
i am sorry about the loss of your cat, peri:(
i spened much of my time talking to myself, phand:)
Thank you both lbd and phand
I do it all the time.
Hi Reader.
eithe rof you have a clue for the EN words?
howdy again my friends
I usually just lurk but do watch the chat - once I get beyond 1/2 way.
Not good on cluing but I saw one for it earlier. brb
see? i am Claude Raines himself lol
Afternoon everyone - I am stuck on my last word and need help - a clue - a hint, please. TW 8/60. Please and Thank you.
Who's Claude Raines? (I could google, but am lazy)
Claude Raines - actor back in the 30's and 40's - maybe 50's
En - 7 en + canvas shelter + vowel Add pl to make 8
Was in NOW VOYAGER with Bette Davis - great film
Thank you, Reader.
I will put that movie request in with my husband!
yw - copied from someone else though
He was also in Casablanca
You took the effort to find that clue.
Oh, who did he play bin Casablanca?
tw8 - the roaring decade
The Inspector / Officer - the one Bogart walks away with at the end when the plane takes off
he also of course played the invisible man, hence the refference
That makes sense, Crossy. lol
Reader - Thank you. I didn't think to double back. Ugh.
yw. Your question told me my missing 8 - so we helped each other
yes, that was a twisty word!
5 left for later tonight. Really need to try to do some chores; working the next 2 days.
scratch that, got FW!
Well Done!
Monkeys are tired looking for of6/39
a line in the rocky horror picture show theme, 'Claude rains was the invisible man'.
or....to hurt someone's feelings....not on + finito
duh, tks p
yw...
can i get stats for the lower left corner e please?
there are four
stats for some?
en7-28, en8-40, et5-18, et6-30
en 7/28, en 8/40
ok, thanks....
lol,i remember the rocky horror picture show;)
such a great show
wonderful song too, tributes to all the early sf movies greats
mmm.all of a sunnden i want to dig out a real gem like enders game.have not read that in an age
sudden
or flowers for algernon
the short story is the best version, but way too modern for a rocky mention
or the moon is a harsh mistress perhaps
joso, have you read the space mail collection ,then one that wasedited by asimov?
day of the triffids, brainwave, kronk
if not,it is a very good collection of sf shorts to hunt down
no, have you read his 100 short short science fiction stories
i have them on my e reader i think
oh and space mail has a second volume.bother are available on biblio.com for under 5 dollars
both are*
i think a few years ago i grabbed the bulk of asimovs work and loaded it as a whole.will have to look
did find a nice version just now of childhood end by Arthur C clarke sitting on my desktop:)
childhood's end is definitely one of the greats
this old computer is so bunged up with stuff, i could have homers entire works and the winning lottery numbers on it and i would not know it lol
do you use an e book reader, joso? would you like a digital copy of it? i can send it as an attachment very easily
sprite and i often share books in that manner
if you come across those short stories send them, got clarks stuff in hardcopy
Hello babbleworld! HI crossy and joso...you boys just like to be together!!
will do.i know i have the Azimov stuff..somewhere
howdy,jilly
I just like talking to myself, most agreeable company jilly
LOL
hehe
i have an entire scrpt in front of me just to keep it all straight
script
Talking to oneself can be confusing
my problem is that i find i have read all the books i am recommending to myself;)
have you heard ruru's theory, of how I took a photo of flosey and me, photoshoped another version of myself and pasted it on the other side of flosey. Should keep the tinfoil hat brigade raging for a while, lol
hello, hello, hello
hi phand, how's life
Missed that theorum....good one. You two could be brothers however!
life is great.
Hello phand!
well, nbt/nbs and 48 to go...
yes, very unlike my real brothers who look little like me at all.
My two boys looked completely different up until about 2 years ago...now you can tell they are brothers
I noticed how much you both looked alike.
maybe you were raised in the wrong family, joso...
there was a stage when we were mistaken for triplets, when we were aged 7-9-10
perhaps I am the ugly duckling, or mom liked the milkman a little too much
and my own brother is much large than myself
larger
were your first works "a quart of white and a tub of sour cream please?" lol
words
lol
no, apparently they were a little worried about me being somewhat bobo, was late to speak. But when I started I used complete sentences, it seems I didn't want to start until I could do it properly.
weird from the get go, and proud of it.
lol.i did not speak till the age of 5 when suddenly at the dinner table i said "mom, this food is terrible, and i am not going to eat it" my mum and da were of course overjoyed and asked me how come i never talked and i said 'well,up till now everything has been ok"
My youngest was like that
:)
were you worried
we never talked down to our son and he had a good vocab right off the get go
I love it when kids have a big vocaulary
sadly he does not care for reading for pleasure like the mrs and i;((
Old joke: Son not speaking, family worried. But one day at dinner, he suddenly spoke saying "More potatoes please." The family's jaws dropped and finally said "Timmy...you can speak, why haven't you spoken before. To which Timmy replied "Well, up til now, everythings was fine."
hehehehe
<---hope they all will read thru typos
and we tried did the bed time stories at night.gave him access to books whenever he wished.the house is certainly stuffed with books, but he never became a book fiend like his dad
if they can read through my typos, jilly, then your are not a problem
Got all the 8's...brb...going to change into my yoga pants...
Ahh....that is better
love yoga pants.
yes,i stole the joke:)
Jilly, what kind of shoes do you wear when you work?
i am getting red boxes of doom
Crocs
I stand more than anything else
ohoh...hope it quits crossy
I bought a pair of Allegria Mary Jane style shoes which are very comfortable. But I realized that if it is raining or snowing out, Mary Jane style shoes really aren't the shoes to wear. So, today I bought a pair of Dansko's (got them on clearance) They are so comfortable.
I haven't gotten that lower back fatigue in my Allegria's. Hoping for the same with my Danskos. Tomorrow is the first day I will wear them.
i think the only books my son has read for pleasure would of been the harry potter series.other than that he read what he had to read for school and that is it.It is sad actually.there are worlds upon worlds just sitting there on my book case for him
Dansko's don't have enough cushion...I have RA and feet the worse, standing for 5-6 hours straight requires lots of cushioning
how old is your son, crossy?
he has just graduated and is 19 now.i think all he reads these days is the side of cerial boxes;(
cereal
yes, comfortable shoes are paramount. I think what is comfortable for one is not so much for another.
ah....too bad....there are so many other fantasy books he might enjoy....
well to each their own crossy, what are your son's interests
computer games, girls, more computer games, food, more girls, more food and more computer games
Well, I sort of side with crossy, I think book reading is pretty essential. Crossy, do you think having an e-reader might be more tempting to him reading?
i have a spare e reader.he shows no interest and at his age i will not force the issue
just makes me a little sad
He is missing so much...
true indeed
yea, I would be a bit down about it too. what type of computer games, strategy, muds, fantasy, shoot em ups
lol, muds are too "old skool" for him.he is one of those minecraft fanatics you read about and of course any first person shooter game
personally some of the old mud games gave me great enjoyment in the past and the old man is pretty good with a sniper rifle in the shooters if i do say so myself.i was administrator in gamespy.com when it was all new
that mining thing is way weird, sounds so boring too me, but of course there is money in it.
well, like you say whatever floats his boat.
Maybe he'll start later in life. Our oldest gave it up for a period (more fun to do games) but has returned to it
i do not play the shooters much anymore but when i get the itch i will pull out half life 2
you may be correct jilly.we shall see
Butting in - I LOVE Half Life! In my opinion, Valve games are the best.
lol, volta.i have half life 2 and the episode one and 2 for it
bio shock one and 2 are so fun
I started out by playing Portal. Loved that game
the ambiance in bioshock is excellent
Hello volta!
i am done!
I agree, I just feel that valve games are so well thought out. The artistic design of them is very clever
Hi, Jillyjill! Sorry, I had to have my nerdy outburst first ;-)
WooT WooT WooT penquis!!
ty! :oD
do you not know, volta? us nerd are cool now
nerds
congrats pen
yaaa for pen!
Haha, tell that to my ex-boyfriend, Crosshair. He claimed I loved videogames more than him...he wasn't wrong.
lol.i just got my wife hooked on morrowind, oblivion and now skyrim.now i can play all i wish without any grief
poor boyfriend, so sad when you challenge reality and it rises up and bites you in the ass.
hehe
Ah, I've lost friends to Skyrim. They just sort of...disappear...
it is a big open sandbox type of game.easy to vanish into
even as we speak, she is happily firing arrows into gnomes making them fall off cliffs
phone brb
one day,i will blow her mind and show her how to channel it through our new 51 inch wide screen hdtv
well.my neck is killing me.must leave the computer for now and wish you all a good night
One of my friends posted an article on her FB that eating Tilapia was worse than eating bacon. I posted the following: http://tinyurl.com/28zodh7
good night crossy
by the way, I never realized how easy it was to do a tiny url...
way to sell crossy on tilapia
seems I posted too late for him to see it though.
you can e-mail it to him phand
<-----------!!FW!!
congrats jilly
I think the NE 8 is a strange word!
congrats, Jilly!
Yippee, Jilly!
TY TY
Would it help to replace the first vowel with a U phan?
yes, it would!
si6/18...also weird
WEll, heading out to make dinner....hagn all
Yes, I agree with that too, Jilly.
hi everyone
hi, Rows
such a small grid today :/
it's fairly easy too
haha they're never easy for me
i am lucky if i get like half of the words every time
well, I finished with only 1 clue. So, that says a lot!
okay :P i'll try to think positive
do you have lickety?
i could have it
i just don't have it open right now
i find that i just always do worse these days since i can't have babble expert anymore
it's just too much work to go back and forth between tabs all the time and add words to lickety and try to figure out the clues
you don't have expert?
put the word in both places at once!
no, it doesn't exist for linux
oh, bummer
i would love to have it
yeah
kinda lame considering a lot of people use this OS
oh well
it's "just" a game
you know you can add words in bulk rows?
yeah
it's still way easier using expert
what i don't get is why expert isn't just installed in the web page itself
oh yes, expert is a big step up
i mean, all expert is is an internet explorer window
alas. Time to clean up after dinner.
alrighty
see ya :)
expert is made by a guy who wanted to help out babblers. anything he gives us is just mana from heaven
yeah, i figure as much
Just 2 left -- et5/6. Clues anyone? Pretty please!
hi mom! Oddly spelled needle case(s), or et + very small
ugh i swear, i am SO sick of hearing "blurred lines" by robin thick
thicke*
it's like the gangnam style of last year, but it's worse
mostly because Robin Thicke comes across as SUCH a douche
Tks uuue! *F*W*! Yahoo! Off to try to do sew buttons on g-daughter's new sweater. 'Til the morrow fellow Babblers!!!
yay mom!
congrats!
glad I haven't heard it, rows!
it's a really catchy song
Oops! Forgot the "s"! uusue! There, got it!!
and it might like it better if Thicke himself didn't come across as SUCH a skeeze-ball
no problem, rows, I know my username has a lot of u's in it :-)
that was mom ;)
man, ents isn't a word? this dictionary obviously doesn't know LOTR
oh hey hey hey!
hi GE!!
hi GE
and I agree with you about ents, rows, I try it every time
hi sue! looks like you were near my hood today
oh, right, GE! Two of our friends were in a car accident Friday night heading back to DeKalb from Skokie, and one of them is still in Lutheran General with a badly broken elbow
Nice of you to make the trip out to visit!
so Frank and I went to visit her today - she doesn't have any family here (she's an international student at NIU) so she was a bit lonely - some people went to see her yesterday, and some will go tomorrow but we were the only ones who could make it today
well, so many people did so much for us when Frank was sick, I really want to do as much as I can for others now too
Yes, once you have been on the receiving end you realize how much even the little gestures can mean
exactly, GE!
My elderly father is homebound and my mother-in-law just had knee surgury so I feel like all we do is visit the relatives. Few errands (and no housework) gets done anymore. But you do what you can for people when you have the chance.
ah, that's good you are able to be with them.
Like you I feel like a could do a comprehensive review of Chicago area hospitals: best rooms, best cafeterias, etc!!
our friend is very impressed with Lutheran General - she used to be a nurse and knows more than most of us about what should go on
I was just thinking, people from your area drove out to Park Ridge yesterday...with the snow. Blah.
fireworks!
congrats sue
yay sue!!
woo hoo uu!
Yeah, the snow was a bit of a nuisance, but nothing like it will be in a couple of months (yuck)
congrats, usue!
yes, it was just a teaser yesterday
I have en8, te8, tw8 - what's my missing 8?

Of course...thanks so much.

no need to thank me flosey, just serving my own pleasures
just reading Stid's post - won't send you joso, will come with you to PB - "choclit" always sounds good

hi all. any clues for the 8s?
en7 8, en+ canvas home + vwl, & plural
cool!
that would make Doren happy
yes, she would know the history
Hi mkg - en8 is agreements or alliances. ne8 is the most lacelike. te8 is the most camp home like. tw8 is an age you enter after the age of 19.
i've only had lunch in the Cafe.. never had dinner there
ne8 the most ne4, ne4 fisherman's tool with double last letter
neroddiest
The lag seems to have gone now.
wow. ty. am thinking.
damn
te8, the most canvas home like

en+ canvas home + vwl
mkg - en8 is a French word. en + canvas dwellings with a vowel in between the last 2 letters. Can't spell it out more clearly.
have done sons and daughters a couple times... it is (relatively) reasonable in price and always enjoyable

Chez sounds perfect though

Seeing all the stuff about USA meet-ups reminds me that here in UK & Northern Ireland, I said I'd ring Haz about 2 weeks ago. Still haven't. Will do so in next few days.

Well done Gwen! What was your last word? (Stats)
wo4/8, yep, an easy critter
sometimes i'm just hunting too hard to see the easy ones
No worse than my last one, Gwen (tw4.8 - the word that is more than one(s).
up! I find the weird ones first and miss the easy ones.
Yup! I meant.
*wonders about the meaning of that*
and i type in plurals and forget singulars, too
Ditto.
The meaning of what, ruru?
you find the weird ones and miss the easy ones
one meaning is a unit of Korean currency
well, i got a sinus headache, gonna lie down now. cheers, all
ruru - It means you've been Babbling for so many years that you instinctively see the weird words first.
oh..ok
Like Menhir and isatin?
You find the needle cases, the Hawaiian geese, the funny hedgehogs, the Sicilian volcano, the insulting words for Japanese immigrants etc., etc.
some of saw weird words BEFORE Babble
menhir and isatin are par for the course, ruru.
some were weird before babble
harp - do you mean you already knew them or that you dreamed the grid? (Yes, that is another symptom of being a long-term Babbler.)
I like "ackamarackus" ... especially in a political context.
About a week ago, I signed in to fill in a grid and thought I'd already done most of it, but the stats said '0' words. So... I put in the words I thought I'd already found. I must've dreamed the grid.
o-o - I'm pretty sure we've never had that particular word in the grid... yet.
But, pretentious nonsense or not ever appearing in the grid, I think it's time I went back to bed. See you all, or some of you, next grid. Happy Babbling all. xx
That's what 'acka thingey' means, btw. 'Pretentious nonsense.'
