hello all, exciting day here. we have started moving our gear into our new rooms.

we've packed up 7 boxes of books, 13 bags of clothes, bath linen, bed linen, tea-towels, table-cloths, serviettes.
those rooms must of been huge!
we are going to turn our current bedroom into a loungeroom, with piano, display unit, entertainment unit.

I need to wash some blankets and he throws a huge fit about the ground being frozen and it will back up into the house---now in the summer the well will go dry and in the spring the septic tank will over flow---its always something---now I have lived here since I was 18 and never have any of these things happen-----it gets so much that I just let him do the washing but there are times when other things need washed beside clothes---this is just one little thing

reminds me of when i used to visit my da when he had a wood stove. i would wait till right before i had to leave, and the second he was in the washroom i would run over to the woodpile, select the perfect pieces of ash hardwood, run back to the stove, stuff it full and turn the damper down a bit then go home. lol, about 30 minutes later i would get a call from dad giving me hell because it was now 100 f inside the house and he has all the windows flung open in the dead of winter just to cool the place off. sigh..i miss a good free standing wood stove:(

when i first arrived in canada, i didn't know i could do the same work i did in the usa, so i worked at timmy's for about a year and a half. turns out that i made a contact through one of my customers and years later, got a position similar to what i had in the states, worked my way up and am now about 15 years in :)

and since dental insurance was invented, rates hae sky rocketed. surprise. bt i find i can negotiate to the insurence rate often, if i ask.
san francisco - about the best place to be if you don't have insurance. I have Medi-Cal from the state -- covers everything important EXCEPT dental care, and that's out of range.
We have dental coverage through my husband's work. But, it's coverage is much more limited than medical insurance. Lots of out of pocket.

Strange that the Canadian coverage is different from province to province.
it's supposed to be a national plan, but since each province regulates their own coverage, what might be covered in one provice may not be in another. (like insulin - crossy says some prescriptions, like insulin, are covered in ontario, but no coverage here in alberta for the same med)
Yes bichon, it's hit and miss if you can register with an NHS dentist depending on where you live in the UK

Gwen, I think the biggest stressor about nursing is that we nurses can't *really* tell what we do to the public. It's hard to understand what nursing is and what we do without breaking HIPPA and confidentiality laws/rules. SO the public has a idea of what nurses do but it's all misconceptions
which is why i said, i can't imagine beinga nurse. not a job i would choose, way too much stress!

I started out in newborn nursery, went to county health nursing, then work as agency nurse for a year and then ICU, retired in prenatal nursing.
our school is hiring a nurse i think but kinda a long commute i bet

The uncle that raised me had a brother who was blind, deaf and mute -from childhood measles. I guess he'd read (by Braille) in bed at night and giggled a lot when he was a child growing up (he was sent to the state home for the deaf and blind when he was very little, but by the time he was 12 or so, he lived with his family again))

Uncle Willie lived alone here in the Twin Cities as an adult. He sold newspapers from a booth on a street corner (and I guess he was a bookie too, on the side). He could see about 3-4 inches in front of his eyes, so he wasn't totally blind

well work kept me busy .. i work 3p-12am mon thru thurs and 2-7 on fris.. so not much time home during week -- that helped..
