hi jbp and pugs
Hi Flosey
fe
i'm looking at that clue for the 7n and so not getting it
fare
oops
soorry
jbp, is it the ni7 you're looking for?
no the eo that was clued.
the tip of a pen is 3 letters... or am I missing it
the sharp end might be called by another word
change first letter
the end with an eraser is the blunt end
Hey, y'all! I had too much caffeine, so am still up. How y'all doing?
hi seain
hi seain, good the see you
flosey is being very patient with me and using small words to clue me
hi, flosey and jbp :)
Hi Dc
evening, puglet
is the end you speak of. flosey, the word that rhymes with what a baby wears when eating, or with things like the knee and hip?
Jbp, I worked your candy ribbon puzzle. That was a tricky on--lol
dip that part of the pen in the ink.
cool --glad you liked it
ok, maybe I have some king of block, but eonib is not working and I cannot think of what else fits with the letters.
I've become quite addicted, bugs
the lead end comes to a *****, rubber end is blunt
change first letter
yeah me too jbp
ah, an anagram. Thanks, flossy.
i'm laughing as I type this... but, eoboint isn't working either... pug, back me up here?
help with top lone e pls
anagram it, jbp :) swap a couple letters.
rearrange it a bit
jbp switch the two vowels
oh.my.gods. yeah, i think I should go in for oral surgery next time... thank you guys. I really appreciate it
I don't know how I got it myself, may have misspelled
thanks, flosey!
yw jbp sorry, it was misleading
I havent seen that word before
" a hypothetical chemical precursor of a living cell" so the word describes something that is hypothetical... like my spelling
nor have I but i wonder if I will remember it again
ei4 babblet for the lone E
lone E at the top, that is. :)

and hi peri
hi. this flu is making me nuts, still congested and coughing
and therefore can't sleep
ah peri, it's dragging on, isn't it
awww. sorry you have that going on peri. it lasted forfreakingever when I had it
it started last thurs. evening so I am hopeful that it will not be around much longer
i hope you're better soon, peri -- that's awful when that's happening.
I took cough med with an expectorant and am drinking lots of fluids, etc
I seen on the news that a flu that is highly contagious is out and the flu shot does not protect one against it either
ty
I am exhausted
I bet you are, sometimes when congested, it's worse to lie down so I bundle up in an lazyboy chair, start to read and often fall sleep
I love vicks. it may not do anything, but it always makes me feel better when I am congested
wish I had a lazyboy
I have vicks
my chair is not comfortable enough to sleep in
vicks and a cup of hot tee (with lemon, honey and hooch in it) always helps me sleep
that sounds pleasant to take jbp
i get all relaxed justt thinking about it. ;-)

sorry, pugs. yes i am here, hun. did you get my response to your e-card?
no, havent checked email yet
give me a sec and I willl
are you okay, sweetheart? btw, i received a response from joso. he is okay. his computer isn't.
Iam kind of like you today---and cant seem to get into the grid--glad you got word from Joso and I knew things were not right with you, was and am worried about you
brb coffee
:-) thanx dear. i will be okay. don is taking care of me, hun.
aagghh. dinner ready. bbl
okay Rose
Hello, pug
morning OO--I think we are getting some of your nasty weather--and how are you today
stay warm
I plan of it! Its snowing like crazy here right now and first of the week we are to get temps we havent had in 20 years----14 below :(
I am ... anything else would be not so positive
part of your quote is in the grid today and thats a very true statement
DANGEROUSLY COLD ARCTIC AIR IS EXPECTED FOR THE WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. LIFE THREATENING WIND CHILLS OF 40 BELOW TO 60 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.
hey, i'm back. what does he not understand about a small meal, please. for goodness sake...a large dinner plate of food..guaranteed to stop an already sickly appetite in it's tracks. hello o-o. can you please help me to understand?
oh OO, thats really bad. I hope you take care and bundle up VERY good if you need to go out and I also hope your water lines dont freeze up
ugh, o-o and pugs. sending lots of warm wishes your way.
He dont want you to waste away!
National Weather Service alert for my area
OO is having it much worse then I
I forgot to eat yesterday and now my tummy is griping about it--lol
not so bad ... I just have to remember wearing shorts might be inappropriate
o-o, what do i need to say to him? he feels great...i feel sh**. what can i say which will not make him feel bad?
eat what you want and hide the rest when his back is turned
lolol...a tad difficult, pugs. and i would really value o-o's words. he is a male, and so is don.
you need a dog that likes lots of hand outs
Just be honest, Rose, Tell him exactly how you feel...he loves you a great deal..he will understand.
yeah, pugs. but don can't see the correctness of having a pet, and feeding it, when so many humans are going hungry.
back in the old days people thought food was a pick-me-up and so maybe he thinks he is showing his love by making sure you have enough to eat. And too be glad you got a good guy
Hello Zoom--how did the family dinner go
thanx, zooz. i am completely stumped. apart from handing a dinner plate back which is still half full of food. it seems such a terrible waste.
Tell him you know he is doing his best for you..but you just can not handle large meals at the moment no matter how delicous they are.
perhaps put it in terms of what your doctors said, whether they did or not. for example, must eat so and so and so much to help recovery .... so, ask Don to ask you what you can eat to comply with doctor's orders
Hello, all :-)
The dinner went well thank you, Pugs :-)
good morning!
ahhh, good words, thanx o-o.
Hello, Ruby :-)
Howdy Ruby
{{ruby}}
how are things with you Ruby
and zooz, thanx also. will ponder.
{{{roie}}} I haven't seen you in ages! What happened to cause you feelig so poorly?
""pugs}} - still owe you a long letter!
{{zzoozz}}
{{o-o}}
ruby, dear. just a combination of stuff. pain, pain meds, and frustration at not being able to do stuff.
It is pouring with rain right now, very weird for January. The snowbirds must be miserable because rain on top of snow, rain, snow, ice, etc. makes for dangerous and yucky conditions. Olus, who wants to ski in the rain
Rose, are you sure you are not having a spell of depression
aaah, poor Rosie! As for the good, eat what you can and tell your swet husband that less is more! Small portion on big plate helps the appetite.
*eye-roll* pugs....it is most certainly likely...between the two mothers, surgery....
food* (or good food)
ruby, i am trying to get it through to him...but he forgets...at least he cooks me meals.
I think you are by the way you sound and the things you are doing. I know for me this time of the year brings it on me for a bit.
is he a good cook?
xoxox, pugs and ruby...and o-o and zooz. yes, ruby...but he needs to take into account my appetite is so lousy.
god love him...he just picked up my plate, and said...tonight you had too much...response, yes dear.
I think he's a keeper, rose
Have you been grumpy with Don, Rose since you are depressed? If so maybe he thinks if he keeps you eating you cant gripe--lol
Rose, have you talked to your doctors about how you feel? Do they know what you have been dealing with in addition to the knee problems?
Is there a physical reason for your "lousy" appetite?
Rose are you crying, laughing or peeing?
o-o, yes i have. but i am not sure they fully realise the implications.
Loss of appetite is a symptom of depression as you know
and the crying and the not wanting to talk as well
o-o, medical research has shown a close co-relation between pain and appetite. in fact, it is well documented. trying to help don to understand is another scenario altogether. ahhh, o-o you are so right...maybe i need an anti-depressant??
Mayo Clinic: http://tinyurl.com/82bjmjl
yes, pugs. i have an appointment on the 9th...will talk it out with doctor then. until then, please be gentle with me.
thanx o-o
always Rose
I wouldn't go on an anti-depresssant so fast, rose. First of all, they take 2 weeks to kick in. Second, they have some unpleasant side effects which would enhanced some of the effects of the painkillers.
Take it from someone who knows about psychotropic meds!
your depression, if it is that, is perfectly explainable, situational rather than chemical
okay, ruby. but please be aware, my chemist, always double and cross-checks any new meds i am put onto.
some of the side effects are not necessarily considered such a problem (by the md's and pharmacists), but (pardonme, everybody) constipdation is the worst one
ruby, if i am put onto anti-depressants, i would have to come off the natural remedy i am using for my fibromyalgia.
painkillers cause it as do anti-d's
lol, yes i know. but this time i am on much lower doses. last year i got into a terrible pickle.
that can make other problems pale by comparison!
roflol...needed gloves and lubricant last year. not a problem this year...
I owe you an e-mail, hunee, on that and other subjects! lol
the chemical imbalance hypothesis is losing favor ... and I was pointing out the possibility in the sense of asking about it. I have been treated for many years, ruby ... I am not unlearned in the area.
good morning all
Hello, sprite
o-o, i would never under-value your opinion, mate.
Ok bath water ready...sending lots of love & comfort thoughts & hugs to you ((Rose))...you are much loved here in babbleland...try your best to keep your chin up...i know it is hard..but you can do it...bye for now.
hugs and Hi Sprite
and helloooo spritey
Hello/bye, Spritey :-)
bye zoom
o[o, I had 3 bouts of"chemical depression" many years ago. They started EXACTLY 18 months apart and I was treated with elavil. They were bad enough to put me in bed with my shoes on!
thanx zooz, enjoy mate.
bye zooz *hugs*
{{sprite}}
hi rose, pug, ruby, o-o! *hugs*
bye zzoozz
going to get meds ready for the night and morning. brb
{{rosie}}
Sprite I just loved the rainbows--it was so pretty
I don't think there are many anti-deps that you haven't had prescribed at some point, are there, o-o?
am so glad, pug :) It was a pleasure creating it.
I have never tried anti-depression meds. They scare me
I have been around a few blocks with medications and therapy .... treatment is a tool ... something to put to professionals for guidance
how are you Sprite today and did you read in the back log that Rose heard from Joso and his computer is down
have fought like a tiger the first time my doctor suggested taking them, took me ages to decide to follow her advice. And then it took a long time to find the right ones. But now I say: if you are depressed for a long time and can't get out of it, go for it. It makes so much difference if you find the right ones.
no pug, but he emailed us all. Didn't you get the email? I saw your name in the header.
not that I know of--I will have to check
I agree, o-o. It is not a layman's (sp?) matter.
one of my sister has bi-polar depression and she came too close to taking her own life on anti-depression meds
have forwarded it, pug. I see he sent it to me twice. Might be mixed up with you.
okay, thanks Sprite
yes, that can happen indeed, pug. That is why people on antideps have to be monitored closely to see if it is the right one for them. It is very very personal.
I am very lucky in that the combination I am on now works so very well for me. I realise that and am grateful for it.
OO, may I ask, did your or does your sickness come from serviing in the service
back.. some of the natural herbs in the med for my fibromyalgia are anti-depressants. my chemist lets me know if they clash.
and we are lucky too Sprite
hiya rose, *hugs* Too early for antideps, I think? You have been through way too many ordeals this last year and now you are in pain. Not at all strange that you are feeling down. You have reason.
i try to use natural remedies. usually easier to come off, than the chemical ones.
It dont help Rose that you cant be busy with yourself either
:-) sprite. you are so right...
btw, sprite, received and read your email. thanx dear.
vietnam did not help but is not the main reason for the demons I fight
if you can, dear friend, tell yourself: "It is ok to feel what I feel right now. It will pass, but for now I will take extra good care of myself because I need and deserve it.'
pugs, i am normally very busy physically.
love you, rose. You know it. *hugs*
growing up with an abusive parent often scars us for life.
awww o-o. gentle hugs, if you will allow it.
Interesting article: http://tinyurl.com/pbuc7r8
I find there are many things in life that chips away at us
yeah, sprite, as you say. but now i can move forward without her over-shadowing me...such an interesting concept.
my anti-depression meds are you guys right here
true, pug. And if we have been damaged from early childhood on, we often lack the resilience to bounce back... or we have used it up, maybe. Don't know.
so true, rose. It will liberate you. But for now, just feel what you feel and know it is normal for the situation. And we are here for you.
o-o. tried the addy, didn't work. could you please email me? maybe it will work from there.
lol pug, ok!
thanx, sprite. i really need to bring don into the picture. i don't think he understands how much pain and pain meds effect one's libido. * sigh *
ask him to email me, lol, rose. I will tell him. Gladly. Man do they ever! I didn't care about lovemaking one bit when I was on oxycodone.
oh, so glad, sprite. was beginning to doubt what i felt.
ah, I see, o-o. Interesting. Funny how for scientists this is such a weird concept, while for most of us it is a no-brainer. Of course what we eat and breathe and do during our pregnancies will affect the baby! It has to grow from 2 cells to a full human baby in 9 months and it needs building blocks. Tsk.
but i looove his kisses...
time for lots of kisses, hugs and caresses, rose. And if he flips, introduce him to his right hand. Or left. Or both. He will have to be patient and wait for you to be ready again.
sprite, please send the url to rose
will do, o-o
oh, my...roflol...sprite!!!
Rose, its been along time since your mind and body has had a chance to just relax with out all the outside worries. You are going through alot of changes right now
understand, o-o. your privacy is paramount. sorry to ask you, and put you on the spot, so to speak.

Sprite it was on my mind this morning, has your daughter gotten better since they have been out of school
I think so, pug. She is doing a lot of fun things and is enjoying them. So that is a real good sign. She still looks like a little raccoon though. Of course, she didn't sleep much at her friend's yesterday.
we got snow coming down the size of nickles and heavy too
oh wow. Beautiful to look at, pug, but not at all practical.
tell my son that noob is not a word
o-o, got the link through sprite. will read it all over the next day or so. it is now almost 9:30pm here. and i have meds on board. thanx mate, it looks very interesting.
I know and tomorrow and saturday I have to take everyone to town to do their things and the first of the week 14 below---but OO has 40 below wind chills
poor caya, sprite. hope she catches up on her snooze time over the next few nights.
I hope things will work out, pug, and you can do it all safely
I will tell her to go to sleep earlier this week, rose. I think she has the same idea already herself.
o-o, that is SO cold! I hope you have a heated hammock.
when do they return to school
better to let her think it's her own idea, sprite...
true, rose, true
pug, on Monday again
phantom: disambiguation
lol
our schools don't go back for another 4 weeks, i think. please don't quote me...lolol
ours go back monday too
it's either late january or early february. not being part of the system i am not sure.
I dont know that word is it one of those jibberwhacky words?
boy they get out along time there
yeah, pugs. then a short break about easter, a longer one in june/july, another short one in november....and we are back to christmas again. boy!!! 2014 went quickly. lolol
pug, no it is a real word. It means to clear up the difference if you have two things that seem to mean the same.
like pare and pair?
Hello everyone
Xmas next year you will be running around like your usual squirrelly self, rose, you will ride your bike again and will feel chipper.
HI lyn
hi lyn! xxx :)
This is our 'summer vacation' for schools Pug
cognitive polyphasia and cognitive dissonance
right, pug. If there is confusion over the use of those two words and someone clears it up, it is called disambiguation.
whoa!!! lyn!! how are you dear? have you had a good one?
Rose do the kids go to school from 8am to 3:30 pm
hi Rose - very good one
and, yes, that is grannyrose's way of saying happy christmas, and a wonderful new year...lolol
Our Junior schools are 9.00am to 3.30pm. Secondary Schools 9.00 to 4.00 Puglet
when I see huge flakes of snow like we are having I wonder if this is how God sent the manna to his people while they were on their journey
lolol, what lyn said. sorry, was wolfing down a serve of plum pudding.
sort of, pug, but much more substantial :)
I think the Israelites were joiurneying through a desert - though I am sure a few snowflakes wouldn't have gone astray
my dog is in the grid :D
I could see manna coming down in much of the manner as the snow
TY Sprite
your dog is called 'rat' ?
If so, I hope there were signs posted about the requisite of having a hard hat
lol rose. Close. But no cigar.
lol OO
lolol, sprite
must be in the bible somewhere, o-o. "Blessed are those with hard heads, for they can walk through the desert without helmet."
that sounds right
okay, nearly 10pm here. think i had better be making my way to the bed. thanx to you all, for lifting my spirits. thanx o-o, sprite and pugs.
sweet dreams Rose
anytime, dear rose. Sleep well and dream even better. And tell Don no sex and lots of cuddles ;)
good night Rose and you are in my prayers--hugs
be well, rose
oh, and of course, lyn. just seeing you here was great, hun
Exodus 16:4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. Exodus 16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
* poof *
no mention of helmets though
"the people shall go out"
It was soft and fluffy bread, I bet
bet it was flat and hard in those days - def required helmets
ah of course, it goes without words that when they went out, they needed protection. Thanks o-o.
the people went out after the manna had rained down
hence not needing protection anymore. See, the Bible needs to be explained to me or I don't get it :)
I dont think God would send hard bread because in those days there were no dentistes and the old people whom didnt have teeth would not had been able to eat it
Exodus 16:31 on what manna was like...flat cakes with honey
hi roybarin, interesting, didn't know that. Yes, that would be hard. Sweet though.
but if it had honey , then they would need helmets becuz it was sticky ...
hiya ivesy :) Imagine sticky hair in the desert...
Hi Roy and ivesy
Numbers 11:8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil. Like hoar frost.
and good morning from western ny..more snow warnings and wind chills below zero.....
you feeling better ivesy
hi Ivesy
brrrrrr ivesy
looks like it must have been versatile. Exodus 16:23 says it could be boiled and could be baked.... nice to chat with you all.... am new here.
hi Roybarin - welcome
we are having snow too Ivesy but not the - temps yet
yes pug.ty.. back to work after mini vac.. thinking deeply about whether i want to work or not.. very big decision
welcome to babble land, roybarin. Enjoy the game, welcome to the chat and let us know if you have any questions. And yes, it is addictive. Not fattening though.
that is a biggie, ivesy.
maybe like manna - addictive but not fattening?
I'd say so, lyn :)
sigh, i know.. i love the job..just dont know if im up to it anymore.. and money helps.
any chance you can work less hours, ivesy? Have the best of both worlds?
yes it is ivesy---are you thinking along that line due to your health and also how was the book that your son got you
im soooo confused lol
service providers ask if there is anything more they can do for me ... I keep asking for a winning lottery ticket ... or at least green stamps
yes pug... it would be health wise decision..the book is great.. i think it will help..very good ideas...i had five days off and found i like being home.. i just dont know if i am ready to give the job up yet
sounds to me like it is the choice between wise and smart... the wise decision is to listen to your body and don't overtax it anymore. And smart is to keep earning money and being part of the work process. Very tough choice.
lol o-o
my comment got lost in the ether - but I think you should cut down on your hours or days - a good way to ease into retirement over a few years
lost in hiccup time, lyn.
def. sprite.. and lynxx that is exactly what i have been thinking about doing.. i enjoy the job so hate to give it up completley.. well ..c how i feel today.. unfort its a long day 10-7
now i need coffee..bbiab have good day all
bye ivesy, you too, good luck with making your choices
any fi 5 or flooding Lyn?
back at last
wb pug
nothing major at all - quite a mild summer down here - Yay!
bye Ivesy
great
am glad, lyn
I guess no hammock time for you o-o?
this grid isnt as friendly as yesterday's
no it isn't. Smaller and trickier.
hanging between smokestacks
lol. You'll end up a smoked salmon, o-o/
and maybe even sooty too
brb got to let the pug out
found a nice bo7/48, but bitrate does not work. Stupid enable.
who let the dogs out?
bo 5/16 too
:) thanks for that one
TY for the bo7
yvw lyn
brrr its cold out!
sprite, has that mystery been solved?
not yet, o-o. But oo baby it's cold outside.
is that question for me Sprite
eo 7/36 might be described by some as a pseudoword
lol pug, nah. Just quoting songs.
Who let the dogs out: http://tinyurl.com/74q9pup
if you already have the ci7 I could use a clue from someone
you can leave off the eo as well
and Baby it's cold outside: http://tinyurl.com/23fghj3
thanks for that, o-o and lyn. Never would have found that one by myself.
ci7 use Sprite non-accepted bi7
and the same for the ni7
aw that is such a great song, that last one.
fi4flies. Tricky little grid.
Congrats Sprite
yay Sprite w2g
am going to hang up some laundry and stuff like that. *hugs* to you all. Have a peaceful evening and a blessed day.
congrats, sprite

Workman just arrived to deal with a problem in the kitchen - back later!
no, it means nothingness
I take it you're not feeling great. (False alarm for the workman, the dog got it wrong)
I have been better.

No snow here yet. Supposed to get a little this afternoon and more overnight. We'll see. 4-6" predicted for Philly/Poconos.
and now it is time for crossy's poem of the day!!
White Seal Oh! hush thee, my baby, the night is behind us, And black are the waters that sparkled so green. The moon, o’er the combers, looks downward to find us At rest in the hollows that rustle between. Where billow meets billow, there soft be thy pillow; Ah, weary, wee flipperling, curl at thy ease! The storm shall not wake thee, nor shark overtake thee, Asleep in the arms of the slow-swinging seas- Rudyard Kipling
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
go back to bed judi:)
A lovely lullaby. I fell asleep right away.
well, judi! lol
i thought i saw that dc would get half an inch
I'll have to check the Weather Channel. I really should pay more attention to weather reports. Meh.
i will def not be traveling into town tomorrow. if it's more snow than i can drive through without shoveling, it;s a sty home day.
i think my daughter in Maine is getting another foot of white stuff!
the only time my wife pays attention to the weather is if the power goes out and she walks into a room that is below 70f.the rest is up to me to keep track of
oh no, une. une,

Well, you are the eyes of that operation, Crossy.

so true Judi - but my first day back to work today after 10 days of vacation.
ooh, river! i ws wondering about you in all of that weather, did you get the ice?
Can't imagine a foot of snow in Maine gets much attention either.
not really TO but my driveway was an ice skating rink from the snow, then melt down, then bitter cold. Had to have it sanded only for it to snow on it today.
ood no ice, but that is a lot of snow!
id best get up and get going, stores are probably packed, what with holiday and snow predicted. happy babbling, all
bye TO
need to get my breakfast - bbl
TO, band director sounds great!! and yes, it's the south, so football is a BIG deal in high school LOL

Happy Anniversary to Bea and Mr. Bea : )
i'm sitting here on the floor, leaning against the couch. nick is on the couch, but has slithered down to the floor so his head is on the floor. not only that, but he took my phone, and is playing on the phone upside down. i live in a weird world.

morning all!
Sue, glad to hear your boy is okay. There was a comment in here last night that he was in intensive care, but thank God that turned out to be false information.
thanks, Molly! We did take him to the walk-in clinic and then to the ER but fortunately all he has is a concussion.
good morning sue
I think at one point I referred to the walk-in clinic as urgent care - perhaps that was the source of the confusion. Different places have different names for these things..
how did the fight happen?
He doesn't remember, ruru
oh.. not a good sign
ar6 pls
Only one left .... Re6/18 - the first one
more talented painter wise
he was in the bathroom looking for his keys - which he still hasn't found - and he thinks the other guy may have harassed him about it, at which point he slapped the guy, who then turned on him and punched him several times (including after he was already on the ground and barely conscious)
ty ru
there was a lot of alcohol involved too
re + to gain money
Peri - if someone is more talented
oh.. wow.. is this normal for him?
FW!
That is SO not a word
But thx ... Fireworks
Congrats Kje & Alleyn!
wtg doc
it's occasional, ruru, but more often than I would like; it was New Year's Eve, though, and he was out with a couple of his fraternity brothers
Oh my, alpha males and too much liquor. I have heard bouncer stories that made my hair curl.
yay kje and yay alleyn!
I am hoping this will be the final straw for him :-(
congrats kje and alleyn
I'd hate to be looking for keys in a bathroom..it sounds kind of weird
he found them in the pantry at the frat once, so I suppose anything is possible
and his jacket has a hole in it so they could be anywhere
I know what he should get for his next birthday
Clap on!
haha, or maybe even sooner, as his birthday is at the end of November
maybe they make key chains now with RFID chips so he could use his phone to find them?
I've been around males that just are always on the edge of wanting to get into a fight.. its best to say.. be safe.. have a great night and go
this is the first time he's been in a real fight (he's 24), at least if you don't count the time his crazy ex-girlfriend beat him up - he's actually a very nice kid
They make remote key finders (like the clapper) Problem is, people lose the remote locator. : O
how did he get home?
the bar is walking distance from the frat so his frat brothers walked him home that night; he called me the next day to get him from there, and we took him straight to the walk-in clinic
oh.. he's lucky it wasn't more serious
Very lucky.
if someone has a concusion they should never let them go to sleep
yeah, it sounds like the guys with him were pretty clueless about what to do
although someone did give him some ice for the bruises
frat boys are generally a bunch of dumbsh..
when he first joined I thought it might be a good thing, as it is a Jewish frat and they at least pay lip service to GPA and studying, but it seems to involve an awful lot of drinking
I think that's just about any frat these days
Apparently.
When I was in college, rugby players and frat boys were the hardest drinking guys on campus.
i am glad he's ok.. hope it was a learning lesson
I hope so too, ruru
my friends in college were wrestlers and they were absolutely macho and nuts
anyway I am off for a while - see you all later, and thanks for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and support!!
bye sue
take care - sue - hagd
rugby players are crazy too I think
any clues for the single I?
Rugby players are certifiable
it 7
I think Rugby is more of an East Coast thing.. they do play it out here .. but I don't remember ever hearing about it in college
Same with lacrosse, I would imagine
another sport I know very little about
I don't know anything about rugby or lacrosse
It's weird how regional things are. Lacrosse is not big in the DC area, but huge in the Baltimore area.
How are you feeling today Peri?
that's because Congress is worried about guys running around with nets :D
: D That may be it Ru
I'll go do some time in the PB for all the times I mentioned fr4 boys
oh forgeddaboutit.. if people haven't found Frat yet.. they've been drinking
:D
don't apologize Molly....
any clues for the it7? Can't seem to stumble upon it.
it + vowel + angry tirade...
it+vowel+tirade
thanks. sheepish grin included.

I better toddle off to work.. have a great day molly
hi and bye, ru -- am watching nadal v. gulbis at Qatar open :-)
nice....
love the new BEIN channel!
wish i had the tennis channel...
have tennis channel but they're not broadcasting qatar
what is BEIN?
it's a new Comcast international sports channel
nice
worth a few extra dollars to watch my rafa! :-)
heh heh...
nutso earlier == they had to stop play for rain -- apparently it was about a full year's rainfall in a couple of hours LOL
wow
for anybody who loves dogs (une, that means you!), there is a wonderful book of poems called Dog Songs by Mary Oliver. It is truly beautiful
crossy tidbit of the day!!. The Mars One project has announced that it has weeded out 99.5% of the estimated 200,000 applicants for the one way trip to set up a mars colony in 2025.They figure one more year to weed down the remaining 1058 potential candidates into a group that will be trained ,with small breaks, for the next decade thus ending up with the final number they need for the one way mission. So keep looking for that call from N.A.S.A my babble friends;))
and Crossy goes to the pb accompanied by a marching band!!
good ti 6, though.
lol and I needed ti 6/27:))
lmao :D
I waited for that all day. lol
lol
:)
and now it is time for crossy's ti 6/27 of the day!!
Many artificial color additives are prohibited by law, so farmers add marigold petals to their chicken feed as a natural color enhancer to give their egg yolks that sunny, yellow hue.
I think Frank Perdue did that.
natural chickens look white.
no,the chickens are the same..well except for all the growth hormones..
bye.....

Hi Glant
phantom word: Bonifie d
weird, not sure why that happened.
HI Bichon, Phandmd
hi phan, teach, cos
I have some pretty white stuff falling out of the sky here, expecting 2-3 inches
we're expecting gale force winds and floods
We're going to get about 10, but with high winds
that doesn't sound like fun
Weather's all roiled up everywhere
stay safe, warm and dry
the Welsh coast is expecting the highest tide soince 1997 - which, combined with 80+mph winds, is not going to be funny
I live inland, and don;t plan to go out tomorrow, but others won't be so lucky
No Glant, sounds awful. Are you on the coast?
yikes! I don't like the sound of that at all, Glantarell
I live up a hill about 15 miles form the coast so I should be fine
Hill are good. OUr town is in a river valley, but we're up high
well, my 2nd pass through earned me a few more words, down to 23 left to find. But I am really tired, so, I think I will go take a nap...

Thanks penquis! Was getting sleepy, coffee on board now!
almost done!
warmed up to minus 17c (about 1f American) so went for a nice drive into the mountain:))
snow guns were just booming on the hills creating a huge massive snow cloud that we drove through and above as we broke out into a barest hint of real sun just gleaming through a tiny break in the natural cloud cover above the snow gun haze. Was rather pretty:))
sounds lovely - it's snowing here - started as a wet snow so all the trees and bushes are covered - supposed to get bitter cold tonight and tomorrow
low here tonight is minus 21c (about minus 2 or 3 f)
enough to make the snow nice and squeaky when you snowshoe on it
predicted to be only in the single digits here as a high tomorrow - which would set a new record
wind has died right down ,so it is not too bad
<---------!!FW!!
here it is 0 degrees F.....still snowing...
congrats jilly
congrats!

Good evening all.
hi
Hi gapeach
Peach, must have been a misunderstanding about Sue's son last night. She took him to urgent care, he wasn't in intensive care. He's fine. Just a mild concussion.
Thanks for the update, Molly.
May I please have a clue for te5-10 the 1st? Thanks.\
It comes before "firma"
Thanks much, Molly.
brb
That's good news, so glad he is ok
Snowing hard. i have chips, liqour and chocolate. saturday plans are kaput, might as well enjoy it and snug in.
blizzard and frigid temps here!
the misunderstanding is my fault. when I heard the tem "urgent care" my mind translated it as intensive care. I was unaware of the different layers of triage care down south in emergency wings. My apologies.
term
yup.same here.all the supplies are in and mrs and I are hunkering:))
And we're headed for a heatwave! Strange world.
Good morning all :)
morning .liz!
ok liz i'llbe over in a couple of days ;)
I am coming up to your time on the mountain river puzzle.5 minutes to go and I still have about 50 pieces!
Looking forward to seeing you TO!
liz*
Still enjoying it crossy?
great fun:)
:) i am planing to travel this year. whereis not yet known.
It was - but you understand why I said evil?
Any fires near you, Lizlin?
Sounds good TO. Travelling is always fun.
never think of escaping winter via the other hemisphere but i had a friend whose brother did that. bartending over each summer.
yes,it is a fighter. seem it will be a fight till the last 2 pieces
Not at the moment o-o. North Stradbroke Island is the closest I know but it's contained on the island. We had some rain last night but the winds are strong and northerly, so we have to be aware of the danger. Thanks for asking.
the storm has terrible timing. stores are cleaned out after the holiday and stock reorders and crew not here.
Lots of post uni kids come and do bar work here.
Are the storms very widespread in the US and Canada.
give me a case of vodka and 3 boxes of pop tarts and I am good for a week of hunkering:))
yes, from delware north to canada and the midwest states had it yesterday and today. out temps will plummet and a blizzard is predicted.
it is a large system, liz.mostly in the U.S northeast but we are all getting very cold temps
nova scotia may get feet
minuse 24-minus 30 here tonight
Wish I could send you some of the warmth from here. Yeowww! Cold! Back in a minute. Got to hang washing out. In these temps it'll be dry in no time!
the midwest, chicago, etc, got it yesteeday and it has made its way to the east coast and met up with a southern storm over the atlantic and blew up
*fights serious hanging wash envy*
We have been having storms since before Christmas, raining almost constantly, very high tides, lots of floods, trees down, thousands with no electricity all over Christmas poor folk Coming from across the Atlantic -is this your fault I ask myself US??!! Worse to come starting tonight according to forecast.
that is terrible, dee
we have folks with no electrivcity in new england because of ice storms and now they will bear the brunt of this snow.
I hear you, Dee! We are battening down the hatches for the seventh gale force storm in 3 weeks. Somebody somewhere really annoyed Mother Nature!
Oh, and hi all. :-)
SOODLES!!!!! SLAINTE!!! FAILTE!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
(hey all)
*puts protective bubble over Soodle's house*
the weather has been truly awful it seems, everywhere but here...
(((((Mama))))). And the very same right back at you & yours. May 2014 be a really good year for you all. ((((hugs))))
Back again - hi to those I've not said hi to :) and also HNY too :)
Happy New Year, Stidmama
in6/18
Hey Liz! Seriously envying you hanging out clothes! My poor old drier is under serious pressure.
in + mr. hawthorne...
I remember that from my London days, Soodle :(
thanks pen
thanks from me too
yw
I have the word but had to google the name to see who he was. US culture!
er 7 pls?
er 7 / 32 that is.
Only Hawthorne I know in Nigel - cant find that!!!
something that is "unorganized" or maybe crazy
er + consonant + i drive an autom****...
author of the scarlet letter
ty phan :)
your welcome.
ty pen too.
So obvious when you see it!
yw
Deeha, i just googled Mr Hawthorn. All was revealed!
I guess if you're not from the US you have to google some of the names which are used in clues.
fw! happy babbling, all
congrats!
any thoughts on what I can give the hostess of a belated US Thanksgiving dinner?
Way to go, TO!
Congrats TO
Wine?
something typically American or thanksgiving-ish.
Wine, chocs, flowers etc are what I'd usually take but wanted to be a bit more original.
you could donate to a local food bank in the name of your hostess...
something personal for her if you know her well enough to know her taste; massage certificate, mani/pedi, to pamper herself after all that work
but i do like pen's idea as well
Good ideas and I like them but I just wondered if there was something that could represent America or specifically thanksgiving.
Why do words disappear from babble. I've just reentered about 4 that I'm sure I entered yesterday?!
you could bring a branch that looks like a mini tree....cut out leaves to hang on it....everyone then can write what they are thankful for on a couple of leaves and hang the leaves on the tree....it's a center piece....then after dinner you read all the leaves of thanks...
Cute idea - will give that some thought :)
we did it at my niece's and everyone enjoyed it...reminded us of what we are thankful for...
It's always good to be reminded of those things - or rather to remind oneself.
yes...and it is an activity kids can take part in....
Thankfully none of those around!!! These people are all mostly older than us and my hubby's kids are adults (phew!)
Seriously though, love kids though. Taught them in London for 30 years.
ah...
when is your thanksgiving? I was thiinking you already celebrated american holiday and wanted to thank your host
No - she's doing it for an American friend, who wasn't well at the time.
very nice.
We don't have thanksgiving in Australia or in England. Australia has Australia Day on Jan 26 - it'll be one year this year since I became an Aussie.
Hello Liz, Owl, and Penquis.
Hi scrabbs - HNY to you. Hope you're keeping warm and safe if you have this awful weather I keep hearing about.
hi
why isn't te6 acceptable, meaning as of earth, like terrestrial? I thought it was a word.
We got lots of snow today and will get more in the next few days. It is now 3 degrees F and will be below zero overnight
only the five letter te word is accepted...
n
Strange - perhaps it's only a word in sci-fi movies.
welcome to the club, scrab....it is below zero here and blizzard conditions...
You are getting that Northeast storm.
yes
Think it is time I went to bed! I am going to haqve a splendid new year, diagnosed with breast cancer last April, had chemo and an op now radio therapy but am officially IN REMISSION!!!!
congrats!...
and goodnight!
Congrats Dee :)
Yay! Great news, Deeha!
Fireworks.
Yay, Liz.
congrats!
r
I was going to type, YEAH!
Enjoy your evenings, everyone. BBL.
not sure what is wrong with my fingers...
Bye, Liz.

Crossy give a ti 6 of the day most days and really bye now.
crossy gives us one every day....
TY
Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving like a pumpkin pie hat...http://tinyurl.com/mhf4j43
People do not hesitate to wear inappropriate hats and clothing
oh my, molly, a splendid idea. liz can you bake?
and yay for dee!
i think she left...
hi all, how's everyone?
fine thanks...
Tired and ready for bed at only 7:30pm.

Computer problems suck.

re + what you do to get wages...
ty penquis, got it
Still looking
yw
found the lone i at last, just one more word (e) for nbt
another clue for re6 : re + what you hear with + consonant
How is 2014 treating everyone so far?
OK, got it now, ty
yw
so far so good, some customers ordered some books!
housebound, cos.....blizzard and wicked low temps...
No different than 2013
we're enjoying warm temps.. mid 50s all week.. kinda wish it'd be colder. i want to suffer winter or it won't feel right
Happy New Year Scrabbler. Cool here in the great Northwest but not raining yet today.
3 degrees now and soon to be below zero
took 10 minutes to clear off the car, and it's still snowing
i don't even want to think about clearing the car... :o(
Stay inside and hibernate as needed, penquis.
I was reading that the next few days in chicago the high will be -5
at least it's a pretty light snow, so it comes off the car without too much screaming
Do they issue snow shovels with automatic screamers? Sounds like a great feature, if available.
when you have to scrape scrape scrape it leads to scream scream scream
There are still inventions to be invented, and fortunes to be made, Book Dr.
(scribbling a drawing of a screaming ice scraper)
i like it....could save my vocal cords....
Exactly, BDG, now quickly get someone to notarize it and you have a genuine American-inginuity (sp) product that we can again be proud of.
and the other end is a vacuum, ha!
oh, yes, forgot, have to add Bluetooth too
See, how things just pile on until wow. Who knows where this could end? McElliott's Pool?
anyone have the lone E, second row from the top? still can't find the beastie
Not yet
This morning someone clued an eo7 but I couldn't figure it out
just found it! eb4
eo + most of life story + picnic pest (not my clue)
ty penquis, got it! silly word
yes
yw
Minus the A of picnic pest
that eo7 is from the top-row E, in case anyone gives a hoot
sorry, should have said most of picnic pest and not most of life story...
I found it in the Enable dictionary
i figured it out since there's no picnic pest on that side of the grid anyway 8-)
i have been here WAY too long... ;o)
do i keep going or eat? always these heavy decisions . . .
Both
naw, i can't eat at the puter desk, that's just something i don't do
(well, i do eat snacks at the desk, but not actual cooked food that requires a fork or whatever)
evening all! snow has reached us in DC
take cover, dan!
Hi Dan. Enjoy the snow.
I must, as I have done monthly if not more frequently since we bought this house, thank mrs2bit for insisting on an attached garage. Not all houses here have them
Cooking dinner here. Made soup yesterday so we have a starter course today.
Good decision, Dan!
I didn't have one growing up, but loving it now
dan, are you slated to get much?
it's always hard to predict for us - they are thinking 1-2"
alltached garage = godsend to prevent slipping on icy driveway.
it has certainly extended the useful life of our 1995 beater also
more than predicted earlier.but then again, ours was originally lower. we were going to MD on Saturday evening but not now.
you and the car will appreicate it if it gets as frigid as predicted.
wow allentown already had 3" i need to look out the window.
