firejerks
yes... moral crime + shape mouth makes in exclamation + pi 4 (for the si 8)
thanks dee. I blundered on it
nice!
there's an aussie word in the grid
hoping tomorrow hubby can get to work for a bit... feeling claustrophobic after all these snow days...
thanks again Dee, for the si8
29 counties in Indiana were listed as "state of emergency" situations because of snow and frigid temps and blizzards...
yw, flosey
hi flosey -- mine were too. How was bridge? How many?
wd ruru
well Jilli, it was interesting
5 tables
I bet it is freezing in Indiana
do you have wind too dee?
interesting? did the machines work?
negative 8 this morning; negative 11 now (windchill puts us at negative 33)
wow
yes and winners were announced
nbt/nbs
I think we hit records today, but haven't checked weather site today.
I thought I had it bad.. i had to turn on the heat tonight :D
howdy all
hi jbp
hey JB
That IS bad for you. We had the fireplace on a lot this weekend to keep from feeling chilly. Too bad you aren't on Facebook, ru; I posted some photos.
good, flosey -- but what was interesting?
I think I'll avoid the facebook thing.. sounds kind of dicey to me
I am pretty careful who I "friend", and I have unfriended a bunch of folks. I am pretty selective.
facebook isn't dicey if you use it right
and back into the real world...hello everyone. ;-)
that's not what I hear
I love it
I enjoy seeing photos of my friends and their families. Also nice to stay in touch with folks I haven't seen that I would like to catch up with (I ignore the others)
hi rose
hi rose
Lot of controls you can use, ru, to avoid what you don't want to mess with.
hi dee, jilli, ruru, jbp, pugs
How are you doing, rose?
hi gr welcome back
I enjoy some very interesting articles people post, plus jokes, plus my contacts with Dane people who include a terrible punster in England you would enjoy, ru.
dee, every day a little better. with the cooler weather, swelling gone down heaps.
fabulous!
have you got all your paperwork sorted with the doc and disability, rose?
it's nice to have a selection of shoes to wear.was stuck in a pair of sandals with adjustable straps. and you, dee? how are you doing?
doing that on thursday, dee.
hideous with these 40 degree temp fluctuations... hoping this will all pass very soon
I have literally hibernated for over a week.... way too cold for me outside. Unfortunately, barometric pressure changes affect everything, whether I venture out or not.
awww, poor dee. i so understand, hun. the temps plummeted here, and FM in shins immediately started up again.
was telling ru right now it is -11 degrees F (with windchill -33)
ugh....i think you and i need to move into a pressure/temperature controlled bubble.
29 counties in IN were named "state of emergency" by governor today - due to temps, blizzard, etc.
LOL too true
my missing 8, ru is another pl 8
well, it's coming my way, so I plan to have so many layers on tomorrow that I look like the little brother in the Christmas story
oh, gosh, dee. how terrible! i hope all those living there are okay.
lol jb... very smart
*giggle* dee, do you have the missing pl8?
lots of churches have opened during the day from 7 AM to 4 PM as warming centers for the homeless... keep wondering what they do at night
(in a small, muffled voice: i can't put my arms down)
it's a very strange word.
lolol, jbp.
just found it...
weird as, hey?
lol really laughed at the po 6/24... pan + opp of lady
plenty of them in colorado dee
remember that word from another grid - seems the 3rd letter should be s
the homeless are always a concern of mine. don and i help fund-raise as much as we can. plus we try to support financially as well. it's so sad...the stories we hear.
po 6's??
(cue cheech & chong soundtrack... yeah man, he's gonna make a deLIVery)
definitely, rose... truly scary, because so many are there by circumstances or sickness, not laziness, as is assumed
Rose? Did you read about the Aussie...who was naked and had to be rescued from being stuck in a washing machine?
fosey, please tell me what was interesting about bridge -- I have a writeup to do!
roflol, jbp...a cheech and chong fan....thought i would never meet another besides DH. howdy, stranger, nice to shake your hand...
are you making that up ruru?
Nope
was his name No4, ruru?
well, I may have been a fan back in the day (which I will neither confirm, nor deny, while the nsa is listening/reading)
oh jilli, not really that interesting - perhaps more a fun attitude
Dunno ...they had to lubricate him with olive oil to get him out
lol, jbp....
Well, I have to go. I guess flosey is buried in the grid or something and not seeing my question.
oh, so his name was pop-eye, then
read back jilli
sounds like a darwin award wannabe
ru, don't tell me you're speachless
fireworks
WTG FLOSEY!!!
wtg Dee
yay, Dee!
sorry, WTG DEE!!!
ty
yup, it looks like i rendered the ruru speechless
sorry, flosey, guess I was the one buried in the grid. Lots of laughs? Blanche and Pat?
and so shall this day on the calendar be marked
no Blanche and Gilela
Gisela
Well, that IS interesting!
.I was just thinking of this poor guy having to have his friend call the police
nbt
I was thinking about how hard it will be to get the olive oil out of the dryer
Flosey -- love your icon!
Wonder if they wrote him a may-tag
wtg jbp
who would like to cue me the 10, and any 9s or 8s?
Bedtime for me -- goodnight all...*poof
nite jilli
Night jilli..
check back thru the chat archive jb... lots of great clues tonight
nite jili
night jilli, rest well
k will do, thx!
I am off til the flip... stay safe & warm all; sleep well!!
jbp, pl9, pl**, to plot + vowel + sounds like the other half of sonny, then plural for pl10
great clue Rose, tyvvvm
night, dee, hope the pa4s settle for you.
would never have monkeyed that
thanks Rose
tr8, tr + double vowel + first 3 letters of keyboard instrument + mai*, post a letter
plural for tr9
well I am going to look these up and maybe someday get to use them for scrabble
thanks again
hi Pugs, are you having any of these nasty weather?
**this nasty weather
Isn't the other half of sonny a tree?
pa7, pa*, pot for cooking + ***ce, not nephew + hook letter, plural for pa8
yes Flosey--strong winds and very cold temps
I would *swear* that I entered that already, but thanks for making it work for me, Rose. ;)
pl7, pl + remainder of a fire + more of suffix, plural for pl8,
I *knew* should have taken the basketweaving course, to have learned that one
Tough room....
lais
other pl8, pl + remainder of fire + vowel + **, um, i don't know

sorry
pl8, p + ***n, big cat + elec****ic, uses electricity

yes, jbp
i'm struggling with that last one... let me sic the monkeys on it
can't get the last pl8, any clues ?
si7, si*, trespass, not good + **en, not shut + 2 vowels, then plural for si8

got it
tytytyty

Hi all. Thanks for all the lovely clues, Rose.
Sleep well jbp
hi ho babbleland

hi Joso
still storming there
liz, lynxx had a lovely day, and 45kms away we froze. go figure!!
hey rose, liz flosey
how is the weather in bc flosey?
I bet the cooler temps are good on your swelling --isnt it Rose
yes, pugs. swelling gone down dramatically.
no complaints, joso
thats really good Rose
and you Flosey, still feeling under the weather
cool here, but the real cold seems to be north and south of us, in the eye of the cold huricane here
dinner nearly ready, need to leave for a bit...xoxox
no pugs, fine now thanks
Iam not sure of our temps yet--but I know its in the minuses
enjoy Rose and hurry back
oh dear, keep warm pugs
I do know its to warm up to 5 tomorrow--lol
iPads!!! Chat froze!
it dont like the cool down Liz--:)
hi all - how many words?
Perhaps you're right Pugs! Seriously though, it does that sometimes and I have to remember to refresh the page!
Hi Yvooria - 225 words
hi Yvooria,
Hi Yv good to see you back
1 x 10, 2 x 9 and 6 x 8 letters
Using computer now for a while so can chat a bit more.
did you enjoy your holidays and traveling
How are things with you now Pugs. Still peaceful?
yes, good visits and travels.... but picked up this silly cold
Not good, Yvooria - feel better soon.
Hey there, Yvooria. Hope you are feeling much better.
Hi Peach
yep :) ------------because of the weather the courthouse is shut down so he still sits in jail--and Iam not at all sad about it
Hey Peach
Stay happy and safe, Pugs.
not yet peach, but it won't stay forever
I am really trying and ty Liz
Hey there, puglet
Make the most of it, while you can.
Hi there, Lizlin.
brb
Who is in jail pugs?
my husband
I'm back.
What? Why?
He has a bad drinking problem
Oh so sorry to hear that.
your hubby is in jail and you are just saying so now, way to bury the lead pug
when he pals with Jim Beam he gets nasty and mean
this happen saturday evening
He didn't harm you did he?
is he in jail just for being drunk, or are there other charges pug?
no not this time (hes has stopped punching for some years but his words are as bad if not worse) and he alway takes off to drink
he got picked up for plubic intox
Well then jail is the right place for him
ah pugs, so sorry to hear
yep and due to the weather he cant go to court for a set bail because its closed :)
I really understand
my sympathies pug, I take it leaving him is to awkward to manage, well I hope you get 100' of snow
thanks Flosey, but Iam not sad at all where hes at---and I dont mean to be mean about it but its a relief
BBS - just skyping with England. So I didn't just disappear!
am sure it must be - just knowing he's safe there and unable to get any more drink
Iam going to try to find some answers for myself and make plans to exclude him from my life
good morning all :) Pug, ask the police to just keep him there!
I had an alcoholic aunt - I loved her dearly, a wonderful woman, just had trouble controlling it - became quite involved with AA which helped her
Hey ya Sprite!
Change the locks on the doors, find a lawyer, and throw his sorry butt out
hey sprite
back, yeah, pugs. you are safe, and so is your sis. for that we are thankful. and hellooo spritey {{hugs}}
Consider going to aa..meetings or codependent aa..meetings called ACA..meetings
A-freakin'-men, bfdeele. Pug, you are so strong and courageous to start taking those steps.
good morning sprite
hiya rose *hugs* How are ya, hun?
hi joso and ruru and flosey and Liz *hugs*
every day a little better, thanx, hun. and you, sprite? how are you doing, sweetie?
Hi
I am fine. Glad you are getting better day by day. A big *hug* for you to help you on your way to feeling chipper :)
we been through the AA--prison a few times --hospital and so on and nothing has helped
I went the Alanon route. Finally decided that AA is enabling these people. Everyone must make their own decisions but that program is for the people who drink not the ones who are harmed. Alcoholics are drunks with money.
lolol, you all know how much fang wants to get her hands on her part of the inheritance? well, she's gone and done it now...she has taken off interstate for a week, which is going to delay probate for another week...as co-executor she has to be here for the will to be handed over to don's lawyer...
Alanon...was what I was trying to think of
oh roflollll rose! How... poetically just :)
glad you are inching towards good health rose, wish it was faster but at least it is going in the right direction.
It didn't help you bf?...
*giggle* sprite, ain't it just?
pug, if there is anyway I can help let me know
I use to look upon it as someone with the illness like cancer or what not--but Iam just tired of it---I feel bad about breaking vows I made , but it seems its a oneway street and Iam at the end of it
thanks guys and I will Joso
pugs, please also look at how he has broken his vows...and know God sees what he has down to you, and God does not like it.
pug, darling, he broke his vows a long time ago and more times than you can count. You cannot save a marriage all by yourself, it takes two. You are doing the right thing by exploring the possibilities for excluding him of your life.
snap, rose
your husband promised to cherish you, and i don't see a lot of cherishing going on, dear.
I think you are right, vows are supposed to be two way, if he is not trying they are broken already, and if he is doing AA meetings and trying is one thing, if he is getting pissed when he wants and apologizing after without any positive steps is another.
you all are right and I have nothing on the inside any longer
don't see it as turning your back on him pugs, seems that's what he has done to you
It helped me to come to terms with the reality of someone who loved to drink and used his "sickness" as an excuse. We are talking about an intelligent man who was a VP in a national company. He learned all the words and used them to manipulate the people trying to help him. Drinking is a deal breaker. He hit me one time and he ended up on the floor when I hit him with the fireplace poker and called the police. It was the last time I have ever talked to him. No one deserves to be married to someone who abuses with fists or words. Get rid of him and bring some peace into your life.
you may have nothing on the inside for him pug, but you have lots on the inside
good morning all from a very wet Oxford. Can I have a clue for the 10 please
good morning all from a very wet Oxford. Can I have a clue for the 10 please
and it may be an illness, but unlike with cancer it also is a choice. He chooses to grab the bottle and drink from it. He isn't doing all he possibly can to not drink. So no reason to let him harm you and your sister in the process.
power to you, bfdeele. You are one strong person, and I don't mean physically.
jenny, pl9, pl**, to plot + van***, disappear + **, um, i don't know. plural for pl10
hello Jjenny! Sorry, I just started, can't help yet.
everyone of you are right and no he dosent try.
Holy sh... bf...that is sage advice
Iam happy bf you got out of it
*note to self. ..don't buy BF..A fireplace kit for xmas*
when I look back Iam sick at all the things Ive lost due to his drinking not counting all the money for court and lawyers and so on---
yeah, bf.my first husband was like that. we were counselled for domestic violence. he also learnt all the words, fed them back to counsellors, and i looked a right idiot because i insisted he had not improved.
It makes me so angry to see lovely, intelligent women defend their stupid husbands/ I didn't mean to be so loud. Pugs you can get out of it too. It won't be easy but you work for you and take it a step at a time. Everyone here loves you and wants you to be safe and happy.
ruru, I'd say as long as you don't abuse bfdeele, you are safe.
thanks rose
I would never ever hit a woman.
I did about the same thing a couple of years ago but I got hold of a iron fence post but the law wanted to arrest me--so the law isnt always for us
I am such a quiet person, usually, and I promise that I won't hit anyone of my babble buddies.
<--- I am with bfdeele
I know you wouldn't, ruru. Our babble men here are good people. Very good people.
note to self, must pick up a fireplace kit for pug's belated x-mas gift
Back again :)
Pugs. Get a lawyer. Go to the police station and let them that you are holding them responsible for your safety. A man killed his wife in our neighborhood before all of my doings and the polce did a complete turn around about protecting women.
they just push you to the point you snap and its a scarey thing to get to that point
rehi liz
rehi joso and everyone - I like that word!
Shame the grid doesn't!
yes pug, get a lawyer, there is a time for experts and this is one of them
hi Liz, wb :)
Hi sprite - hope all's well with you.
I must go now and finish my words. Pugs try meditation and exercising. You work on you and get your self better.
I plan to do some changes but right at the minute everything is shut down
very good advice here, pug. *hugs* You take it all and sort it out, and do things in you time in your way, one step at a time. We will help all we can.
thanks bf --I will
I am fine, Liz :) Am glad you enjoyed the space puzzle, lol. Evillish, was'nt it.
I know Sprite and I thank you all very very much
It was evil - as you said, the planets were easy but the black with stars! I resorted to a shape sort in the end!
yes it is! all that black
Have just started on the clogs - edge complete!
me too, Liz!
aw nice... I am kind of partial to my dutch themes, of course.
It's actually the sorting that takes so long!
I love Delft - might tackle that soon.
I always think that at the start of a puzzle. Sorting out the edge takes time. But it is so nice to start the rest of the puzzle with the frame ready.
I have to do that first. But if there's a strong colour or pattern, I might do that as I come across the pieces.
sa
I always do them that way sprite
Liz, do you have puzzles there too
that is nice, Liz. I usually do the strong colours or patterns right after the frame.
No pugs - I keep thinking about adding some whales but haven't done so yet.
Hi Ema
good to know, flosey! I often see the times some people can manage and realise I am such a slowpoke at jigsaws. But I like doing them at leasure.
hi EmaMaria
do you Flosey
Hi sorry about the random two letters!
And hi from me too!
oh nice! Great theme, Liz. I hope you will.
I'd copy your idea of a composite, if it's OK with you, and use some of our photos.
must get to bed, starting to fade, goodnight everyone and Pugs, just remember all the support here is very real and sincere, stay strong, hugs
Sleep well Flosey
night Flosey and thanks very much
of course, Liz, perfectly ok with me, I'd love doing one of whales. Will be looking forward to working yours.
g'nite flosey, rest well
night flosey, sleep well *hugs*
I'll let you know when I do it.
great, Liz!
thanks Liz, fading fast, and g'nite pugs, joso, al
Joso do you work puzzles too
Sweet dreams, flosey.
Is it just me finding this grid quite slow going?
let me see... nope, not just you, Liz. Only 62 words in so far so that is slow for starters.
Iam always slow cause I talk too much--lol
one of the very few things I can still multitask on... babbling and chatting and doing some email/internet stuff
Just half way here but not finding it easy. Rose's fantastic clues earlier were a great way to start the grid. Don't usually look at clues early on but I'm glad I did with those words.
I was working on getting all the 4's---have 77 so far
20 more than me!
oh I am happily plodding along. Too many clues early on kind of ruin my fun, even with a tough grid.
wow, nice going pug
I need 95 more words all together
Usually I'd say the same but today I was OK with it!
they go to fast for me to catch them all
after I get all I can then I will go back to check them out
Usually the next morning, which is early afternoon babble time, I'll start to scroll looking for clues!
guess I will never get used to the fact that 'ronin' is not accepted (while shogun is)
Hello all
Hi Lyn
hi lyn :) xxx
oh and daimyo is accepted too. So unfair.
Hi lyn
Still haven't got over gnasher not being accepted! My teeth are my gnashers!
also very very unfair, Liz
As everyone always says, enable accepts what it accepts!
Keep trying oasis - even though I've got the o's and I know it's not in the grid!
enable can't be predicted or reasoned with, only learned by heart, grin
Hi there, lynxxx.
very close phantom, that
Life is unfair. Why would games be?
lol
Hi o-o
hi Peach
morning OO
true o-o, lol. Glad to see you. Was just thinking I missed you.
Hello
is that the coat of many colors? OO
Almost time for dinner, so be well everyone and enjoy your days (evening Lyn). Hugs.
Hi there, o-o.
I'll be back in a couple of hours, I would think.
bye Liz
bye Liz - see you later
Bye, Liz. Have a wonderful evening.
oh o-o, I love your profile text!
did Rose take leave and I missed her
bye Liz, have a good one *hug*
pug, maybe rose is getting the meds ready and all?
BBL Stew is driving me nuts
lol poor lyn. Bye xxx
Is stew a animal or child or hubby
a dog, pug.
a greyhound, if I am not mistaken. One of those race models dogs.
OO, are you okay? not feeling up to talking this morning? then thats okay ---hugs friend
ahh--thanks Sprite
Hows your hip Sprite--still hurting you
yeah. Stupid body. Still refuses to adapt to my soaring mind, lol.
maybe in time it will catch up
who knows. More likely, my mind will adapt, grin.
hokay, meds ready, found the clean 'jammies, lamps turned on...lol, sprite you know my routine almost as well as i do.xoxox
*lubs rose very much*
shes a mind reader--lol
not much a mind to read, ;-(
*giggles* That is ok, not much of a mind to read with either here
now Rose we know better
*thinks* sprite must be bored if shes reading my mind..lolol
no way, rose. You are never boring.
its still minus 13 and windchill 25 -40 below but it is to warm up by 4pm to a big 5!
hey ya o-o. love your icon and your 'statement' for the day.
that is at least a little better, pug
yeah me too, rose. The poor ronin in the grid could wear one of those.
yes its improving
wow, pugs, a heat wave...better get the bikini on...
lol--guess it is a heatwave from the last 2 days
you got yours on Rose
be careful you don't break out in prickly heat. maybe go out and roll in the snow....
yeah, pugs, on my big toe...lolol
that sounds more like OO's role
*pictures puglet frolicking around in bikini in the snow*
oh snow swimming, such a bracing sport
I think you would look cool in a bikini and biker boots
oh, don't sprite, you know the mind can be a fragile thing....
o-o is still strapped to the hammock just to stay bed-borne, I think
o-o, loved the message.
cant leave Sprite out---shes got to put hers on too
hi peach, great one, isn't it? I copied it and emailed it to my love.
oh and theres Peach too to join us
I can do the biker boots, pug. Not the bikini though :)
Yeah, sprite, it is a good one.....he does have a message that all of us can use.
sure does. KISS is the message! :)
hi peach, hun.
My bikini days are long gone, puglet. But thanks for asking.
Hey there, rose.
now Sprite, you cant look any different than Rose or I
I never did have one
oooh, like KISSing....no fair peach, get it on, girl....
errrr welllll I think I do. Severely obese here.
*rapidly stuffs bikini into post bag and sends it express to pugs*
Iam in the same boat as Sprite
I hope it is one of strong women brandishing fire irons, rose.
lolol, we need a strong woman to get a bikini over these hips. never mind the boobs...*sigh* those were the days.
I need one that really really stretches and I mean big time too
ah well, I never liked bikinis anyway. One good dive and... right. Stupid swimming wear.
nope, not going there, pugs...
thank you Rose
they are not ment for swimming sprite
I bought myself one of those nice bathing suits with a small skirt attached. I feel much better now when I go swimming.
lol joso, just for unwrapping?
:)
I liked bikinis for about a week one summer about 40 years ago...
I cant swim at all
lol rbud, and hi!
cooee rbud.
now ladies, picture this, a very mature woman isn't wearing a bra or top of any kind, and so uses her elastic waist band pants pulled up over her sagging boobs to "cover" them up.......... an email sent to me with that picture..........
Hi rbud
not at all? Ok... that is weird to me. Here in the netherlands everybody can swim. Guess we have to, being such a water country.
course you can, pugs. walking underwater in a pool counts as swimming, right gang?
argh snags... sounds very uncomfortable!
lol snag--hi and not a pretty pic in the mind
lol actually, it was an eye stopper for sure!!
so, pug... we need to get rich.... then get you over here... and we will teach you how to swim and we will have a wonderful time.
egad, snags, and the lower region looks like????
not pretty either.
:)
we would at that Sprite
brb--coffee as you can guess
good luck ............... going back to bed to HOPEFULLY sleep
sweet dreams, snags
there is this cartoon of maxime where she says she was scared in the morning because when getting up she had this piercing pain in her chest. But it was only her stepping on her nipples.
I want coffee too. Have to make it myself though if I want some. Guess I should do that.
good night snags
oh,oh, oh, forgot. we both had to have fasting blood tests done this morning. and on our way home at about 9:30am, we stopped to have breakfast. was so yummy...it was the first time i felt like brekky in ages.
oh wow rose! Very good! And a very good sign that you start feeling like breakfast again and enjoying an outing with your love. Spots of sunlight, dear friend.
I never eat unless there is food around ....
yes, sprite. but not good for the weight conscious. but i thought, what the hey? for once, let us relax and enjoy a slow beginning to the day.
however weird it may sound, rose, incidentally doing something like that may actually help you lose weight.
lol, o-o...and therein lies my problem. i am on the seafood diet..i see food...and eat it. *sigh*
sounds familiar, o-o.
lol rose!
Iam all set now
smells good, pug
did you get yours
no not yet
wb, pugs. when you left for your coffee, it reminded me of the delicious coffee don and i had at our breakfast this morning.
I often go to an all you can eat buffet ... what is strange to me is they provided containers to take food home .... I asked for enuf containers to eat for a month ... they thought that a bit much
how unreasonable, o-o
nothing like a good cup of coffee in the mornings
people take food to feed their pets
OO, I bet you are a skinny minni
or two, pugs. i actually had two this morning.
and what do you feed
my pet rock is low maintenance
you dont drink coffee at home Rose
very strange... just a month, that isn't all you can eat.
doc told me I needed to lose weight ... so I trimmed my beard
your pet rock is the smart one, I seem to remember, o-o? The one able to tell the weather?
does it have aname OO
lol
bbl
bye for now, peach
only instant once/day. we do have freshly ground beans, but the blend don uses is not what i like. *shrug* i can go without.
bye for now then Peach
see you, peach
I like the instant wiener melange we have here. Am not really a coffee lover, most of the time.
I drink instant too
to everybody: Please forgive my meltdown yesterday. I needed to vent, but shouldn't have taken of advantage of your kind ers.
o-o, if you say your rock is called bull winkle, i'm leaving.lol
with our rusty water a coffee pot dont last long
hiya ruby, it wasn't that bad, now was it? Or wait... am confused with the day before, I wasn't here yesterday.
aww, darling ruby....what melt-down? anyone else notice a melt-down?
Hi Ruby and np and no need to be sorry--thats what we are here for as friends
I just hit the wall and lost it!
aw ruby, it happens! You are in a rotten situation and pretty much alone, so you are entitled to a rant now and then.
how do you loose a wall
its not like you didnt have cause to Ruby
ruby, and have you found the wall again, dear? you need it to hold up the roof.
I built my house of straw, joso
and then she huffed and she puffed
*wails* i wanna bring ruby home to my place....
dealing with all the police and gendarmes in French was just too hard
wasn't here, but we all have our off days ruby
what happened? Did they have to bring your husband home?
husband fell on Saturday and then had his wallet containing ALL his papers stolen at the supermarket.
I had to file police reports even though not so muc money was gone, but because of his identity card and American social security card
oh dear! That is really bad. I remember you telling us he drove you crazy by saying he is such a burden to you.
so you can imagine
yes, nothing can wind someone up like having to deal with a good solid bureaucracy
so frustrating, having to deal with all that kind of stuff. Red tape alore, no doubt.
and in French!
I imagine the french have mastered bureaucracy
I think so too, yes
nyway, I am embarrassed to be likve that in front of my friends
*pours ruby a LARGE glass of the best red available* here, darling, slurp deep and long. rose is here
you didnt bother me one little bit Ruby
thank you all
I too was embarrassed by my own story of woes
there, fireflies. Some pretty weird words in this one! Lickety to the rescue for the last few.
WTG SPRITE!!!!
w2g Sprite!
speaking of wine, shiraz is a phantom
yay sprite
no need, pug. We all share some of our woes here and find support with eachother. That is what friends are for. We cannot be supportive if we don't know what is going on, now can we?
congrats sprite
and congrats to Rose and Joso and OO
there's our ruby....hugs and kisses sweetheart
no, guess not Sprite
pug, you wouldn't want us to keep still about our issues. And we don't want you to do that either. Or ruby. Tell us, so we can be there for one another.
yay, sprite. that's exactly how it should work. there are some who object to how we share, others who do not understand our sense of humour. their loss, our gain.
well I do gab -- lol
congrats to me?
for fws
maybe just for being you, joso
you not done yet, joso?
too bad for them, rose :)
31 to go
Yay for joso being joso :)
that i can manage
what big plans do you have for the day Sprite
absolutely. and when i wander into their circle i am harangued. *sigh*
you are the only one who can, joso
our water is frozen, I could use a little sympathy, lol! such a drag. 9 people at the moment and one bathroom, yuck... lots of water hauling in plastic jugs just to flush... did some dishes last night with pans of hot water from the stove...
big plans? I am going to put on my indoor slippers. Then I go make a cup of coffee. And then I think I will find some more hands to use for one of your puzzles :)
rose, who did and when? That is so stupid.
must remember to shut my mouth...eeek, rbud.
omg rbud, that is awfully uncomfortable :(
think it's frozen OUTSIDE the house, it's so cold here. don't have any idea how to deal with it. Spring thaw!
aargh, rbud.
aargh, rbud.
oh Iam sorry for you Rbud---Ive been so afraid ours would or the electic go out
What a worse than horrible inconvenience
this was with letting water run at night in hopes of avoiding such a thing.
are you all alone Rbud
don't shut your mouth, rose. Keep talking to us. We love it. And you.
sprite, it's not important. i look at my disabilities and laugh. i try not to dwell on them, but make light of them, or joke. others it seems finds that incomprehensible.
am really sorry, rbud. Such a rotten thing.
might as well be, the kids and their friends are next to useless. But no, some of them have helped haul water. Soon we'll send a few home and get down to only the usual 6 people here, sigh.
how cold is it there, rbud?
Rose, you know you are important and like Sprite says
ah well, rose, some people have a different sense of humour maybe. I enjoy the jokes we make... much better than nagging about our disabilities and dive down into depression.
had to put our two outdoor doggies on our closed-in porch, too cold for them outside, and they fight and fuss all the time over bites of food, etc. :P
egad, 9 people to keep clean....over here we have moisturised wipes which can be used for hygiene
no babies actually in my house, but i have packets of them on hand. very useful.
It was 20 deg F below yesterday AM, got up to 9 below for the "high". 28 year record low high temp.
argh rbud! Enervating sound, that.
oh rose, you are such a terrible person. you should wander around moaning and complaining more, like a dickens ghost, get some chains too, try this " wo is me, oooooh woaaaa"
poor doggies...
not counting the wind chill.
send those kids home! you have enough on your hands
lol Joso
roflolllllllllll joso
roflol, joso....and wring my hands, and bitch about my man.....
dear gods, rbud, that is SO cold. What are you doing to keep warm? Except hauling water?
better yet Rbud--go to their homes--lol
our daughter's BF's two boys have been here since before Christmas, were supposed to go home this last weekend, roads too dangerous.
that sounds fair, and take all the dogs with you!
maybe you should tell them you are beginning to be much more dangerous than the roads, rbud ;)
hahaha!! have already threatened to move in with some of hubby's friends for a while.
oh yeah, rose, bitch about the husband too, of course. And start every post after someone's advice with "BUT..."
sounds like a plan to me, rbud.
Think they're going to try to take the boys today, but I know the state police are still warning all to avoid unnecessary travel.
that's it rose, and for a change of pace you can sing a old style country song
oooh, naughty, sprite.
you got a song in mind for her to sing Joso
omg, joso....and wail in bflat minor i suppose.
all schools closed going on second day, some already saying closed till at least Friday. Supposed to get up to freezing then, a heat wave! :P
how about...these boots are made for walking...?
I went out earlier this morning with a fan and blew it back at the wind
ty for making me smile, kids, and I have our ood weather (sunny and cold) to be thankful for
oh no, o-o. tooo funny
*woof*
its -13 here rbud with the windchill 25-40 below--so you must be in the same weather trap as I
later dearest ruby. hope your dayis kind to you
Just want all to be safe, I can stand the boys a few more days if the roads are bad and the weather is life-threatening.
bye Ruby
lol o-o!
a "mere" 100 miles to their home up in Chicago, but that's ages creeping on slick and snowy roads in white-out conditions
I hear you, rbud. Of course. It is just such a complicated situation, having to care for so many people with no water available. And no heat? Or do you have fires?
yeah its too bad to send them out
think so, puglet, that darn "polar vortex" or whatever they're calling it. :P
bye ruby, have a good one, dear
just send them out to build a snow fort rbud, they might not bother you again
Oh, we have plenty of heat, thank goodness, but so far all attempts to thaw our waterline have failed.
thank God you can keep warm
its suppose to lift from us tonight
do you know where its froze at outside
*grins* evil, joso.
I am so full of hot air, I opened my mouth and soon had half a dozen icicles hanging from my nose
hehehe... quite a picture you conjure there, o-o
oh, wish i could think of a come back to that, o-o...laughing too hard
thats kind of the picture I have of old man winter OO
LOL, o-o!! guessing probably frozen in the area where the gas line got relocated this last summer, thinking the soil didn't get packed back very well, water line runs along with it, maybe air pockets?
hey you guys...remember weeks ago when i was biting my nails on the left hand??
ok, off with me, gonna make me a coffee, start a load of laundry and find some more hands. I wish you all a blessed day and a peaceful night. *hugs*
oh, yes rose?
hugs, sprite! ♥
well 2 are back to normal, the other two are nearly there. does that tell you how much my stress levels have dropped?
hugs and bye Sprite--that sounds more fun then being here with us :(-----lol
amazing, rose. You are so strong and courageous. Climbing up from the bottom this soon! Am so glad.
nowgo and have that long awaited coffee, dear sprite. bless you, dear.
that is soooo good Rose---are these your real nails or the fake ones
pug, being with you would be a lot more fun for sure! *hugs* (and *poof*)
*shakes head* real nails/my natural nails...finally. i never did get around to getting the fake ones. just tried to resist nibbling.
lol--I just had to ask :)
going to try and shovel out the library today, at least we can get water there and use a working bathroom. didn't even try to open it yesterday, too muchh shoveling involved.
get the kids onto it, rbud. make it a challenge
so soon you will be able to give them the finger without being ashamed about your nails, well done rose
try some ten penny na 5 ... might cure you of the urge
at least I hope the bathroom there is still working, haven't been there since early Sat., lol
how do you have snow in the library Rbud
hahaha, I just mean the walkway, parking area (the part that leads to the walkway), the stairs, the deck... lots to shovel.
not gonna try to get the handicapped ramp cleaned off, no one ever uses it.
put those kids to work I say
well, I will surely try to convince them. Our son got hurt Saturday, just major bruises and aches, so he's whining and not working much around here at the moment.
just wait a few months and the problem will take care of itself
listen to pugs and me, rbud. cook up a batch of cookies, and tell them for every 6" they get a cookie.
roto
oops sorry
we had a lovely big snow blower that would have helped a lot, but the throttle broke Sunday when it was getting a lot of use, darn it - BEFORE they got to the library with it.
hubs still trying to fix that.
cookies! good idea, might have a clean bowl and cookie sheet. I hate washing dishes with no running water.
I know I have the makings of a big batch of my favorite cookies... hmmm... good thought!
rbud, spit on it, and wipe it down with a tissue...lolol...besides the warmth from the oven would be good.
we're all sort of sweet deprived, too, with the bad roads.
us ladies keep looking for choklit!
bribing kids is so cost efective
there you go, rbud. two things addressed in one blow, so to speak.
:D
listen to the joso, rbud. lolol
been sitting here listening to folks going up and down the stairs to the bathroom, probably about time to pour in another gallon. Three trips in 40 minutes. Four people upstairs, five of us downstairs.
at least the drains still work, thank goodness! :\
oh...and the kids could help you make the cookies...there you are, entertainment and bribes all in one swift action...lol
ugh, don't even think it, rbud. frozen excrement...yuck!!
house a total mess, had to uncover the trapdoors to the crawl space for heaters, stuff piled about. Fun, fun, fun. Back door unusable, frozen piled snow outside it. Trekking around the house to feed my birdies.
hugs, rbud. hope you can stay sane, hun. it must be horrible for you.
one trapdoor strategically located right under my dresser, sigh...
put a heater down there and a champer-pot and HIDE
oh, it's not so terrible, kind of like camping out. Just worried about the possibility of cracked pipes when the thaw comes. That would really get expensive, and the ground's too frozen to dig if it's outside. Could be grim.
I had 3 days without heat or power, but we had water
and the cats, oh, dear, they just don't get that they shouldn't be allowed outside, too cold! a couple of them are driving us nuts yowling at the doors. Plus one "new" one that we had to move in so the dogs could be in its former porch area. It does NOT get along well with other cats.
Another day of attempted thawing today, will move the heater closer to the foundation if I can get someone to crawl done there and refill it and move it. Here's hoping! :)
ouch, rbud. now animals are in the equation. and it's hard to cater to their needs and demands. poor you!!
yes, the big doggie boys drink a lot of water. and one is scared of the new situation, have to shove him out the door, then convince him to come back. Good thing the older one's been through this before, he gets it.
reset time
Rose how many ri4 do you have
there are three and one 5, a pl
thanks OO--I need one of those to complete all my fours
and got it!
some new words for me in this one
quite a few end in "ish"
I got 78 biggies to get yet
okay, thanks
OO, a friend gave me a number that might pay me for caring for my sister. Until they open up offices I cant do anything. But Iam hoping they can help me to take a step to help myself
bye Rose and OO--dogs are wanting to go out---if I dont catch you all later see you in the morning/evening---hugs and love
oh, good luck with that number, pugs, have a good day! stay warm. (((hugs)))
sizier
i'll be darned, it IS a word, would never have thought. Off to PB, hope there's hot choklit! :)
(and a nice warm working bathroom, lol!)
some close to pseudowords
good morning my friends:)) ..brrr..tis nippy out and our blizzard continues!
morning crosey
howdy, joso , long time ,no see
yes, had some computer probs, exasperated by holidays and icestorms
understand it well.pretty stormy up here atm as well
yes, you seem to be getting the worst of it today
our blizzard warnings and wind chill warnings continue..
another foot of snow fell last night as well
having a heat wave here .... only -twenties
that is nice indeed ,o-o
Glad you agreed to take the snow
good for business up there, keep the ski slopes covered
no problem. What is another foot when there is alrady umpteen feet already on the ground?
Does anyone try to clear the roads?
yes, they are covered, but we need the citiots to be able to get up here
actually the main roads are not too bad ,o-o , it is the major highways north and south and the secondaries that are bad
best roads in the world, plowed with these huge saftey banks running along each side
you need the roads open too .. tankers need to get there to keep you supplied
lol, you should see our snowbanks, joso. you almost have to send someone out at the intersections to see if the coast is clear
we do. all our gasoline comes from the city
reminds me, I should fill the jeep today
what we what is the citiots up here already skiing then it snowing so bad they cannot drive home:)) . they can stay here and spend money
my first year of winter driving was done up there, very forgiving environment, skid out, run into a snowbank, back up, carry on.
it can be joso, but you can also skid off the road and down an embankments, into a ditch, through a fence and into a farmers apple orchard
or just turn turtle in a deep ditch
managed to avoid that
saw 2 of those yesterday
Too many here drive with the phone on their ear or texting .... one-handed in stuff like this is not good enoufh
did pinwheel my dad's Pontiac down the road into a snowbank and sudden, total, surprising, blackness. tried the doors and that was hopeless, then tied reverse, no problem
if no one parked too close to me in the parking lot last night, I should be able to get out, but even with my 4wd, I need room for slippage when the snow is this deep
driving and using the cell phone like that is illegal here, o-o
it is illegal here too but not enforced very well
what the police are starting to do at collisions is checking both parties cell phone records and cell tower pings and they get caught that way and take the rap for everything
On a more positive note, only 352 days until Christmas
there's a Russian video floating around facebook showing a near collision situation, one driver gets out, pulls open the door on the other car, wrestles the other driver's cell phone away from him or her, slams it to the ground, stomps it - pretty funny. have felt the same many times.
What do you use to keep you station clean, Crossy, and where do you put the snow?
he must have "drifted" away? ;)
here in the nearest town of any size, they've taken to filling the fairgrounds with piles of snow from the town streets. The kids love it, climb and sled till thaw on the "hills"
or slogged ... to check the status of snow and his jeep
parents perhaps love that the kids love it
at least it's reasonably safe for sledding, in our tiny town the best sled hill ends up crossing a street at the bottom, can result in near misses. :P
seems to be an abnormally large amount of little boys in town these last couple of years, too, several families with all boys have moved in. Small town, only about 350 people.
so lots of daredevil sledding, snowboarding, biking, skateboarding... have to watch for them year round, you never know.
second best sled hill ends at the top of our driveway. often see the boys still sailing on down, into our yard. about a two block run if they do it right.
I did some of that many years ago
North Dakota has a lot of towns that size.
they all know our son, he's 22 now, but still goes out there and builds a big snow ramp at least once a winter, and snowboards a bit. then they all try it on their sleds, really catch some air. (the more danger the better, you know...) :P
scares the daylights out of me!
ni
Hello
I am back. o-o we have designated areas to pile the snow.
kids love it. some of the piles are 25 feet high now
as kids we used to tunnel into the sides of the mounds and make snow caves. mum would give us hell, because if the thing collapsed around us, they would not find us till spring lol
good morning all. another sleepless night. help with the la7 and ma7 pls
it is 3 degrees here
la 7 is a pl
I have a word I would say means "like a guy" for my ma7, and my la7 is a pl for la6, maybe "one who wields a whip"?
ty rbud, did not try that ending for the ma7
think I've only ever heard it used in old blues songs, lol
not seeing the la7
need to go back to bed to see if I can get some sleep
there we go:)) tea and toast;))
Good Morning all.
extension of the part of your eye you apply mascara to.
Yikes! I forgot to do that today
la 4, 6, 7
ty rbud, did not have the base word
haha o-o
bbl
lol, o-o! be sure and do so before you go sledding! ;)
do not know if I should even bother trying to go into class today or just say to hell with it and strap on the snowshoes for an hour or 2:)
and there's my over half, nbt, nbs... happy medium achieved, off I go. Happy babbling all, have the best warmest days y'all can manage! :)
tc rbud
be well, rbud
no skipping class ...
you too, crossy, careful out there. s'long, o-o! back to attempted pipe thawing here. :P
yester days it was the teachers and a grand total of 4 students in the entire school incliding myself
you got a lot of attention I imagine
the rule of thumb here on snow days is that if the school is open but no busses are running, no new material is taught that day
makes sense
Hope every one is staying warm.
Hello, Bea doing just fine ... hope you are too
Life is good on the beach...Even if it is freezing.
sr
Life is always better at the beach.
Indeed, Molly. Good morning.
just took my dogs out to pee --ONE DEGREE - yowser! LOL
Yep, 1 degree here too with wind chills at -14
Nice icon today, Molly.
yes, tres cute, molly :-)
: )
lol, temps are dropping now! if I am going to shovel the jeep off,i best get out there. minus 20c(minus 2 or 3 American) and falling. do not even want to look at the wind chill values

Hello, Ivesy, try and keep warm..brrr
Hi!
trying. lol.. have everything covered to keep out wind..parts of thruway have closed. no travel where i live...
It's 1 degree here, and yet our idiot school system is open. I hope parents complain loudly.
Very cold here too.
they closed our schools yesterday.. but boss waited till this morning to close library...
well,i am back. every single school in the county is shut down. At least the jeep is all cleaned off and warmed up. I can do pharmacy runs for people in my building at least
Hi Crossy!

And fireworks here......I do hope everyone in these extreme cold conditions try and keep safe and warm...baye for now.
Well done Zooz!!!!!
tc zooz
Bye!
You are a kind man, Crossy.......*poof*
brb....
good morning all
morning, teach
howdy teach:)
howdy annie
hi crossy
and now it is time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
hello crossy and annie
The former Rolling Stones' bassist, Bill Wyman, began a relationship with thirteen-year-old Mandy Smith, when he was forty-seven. They married six years later in 1989, but divorced after less than two years. Not long after the divorce, Bill's thirty-year-old son, Stephen, married Mandy Smith's mother, Patsy, age forty-six.
Good one, Crossy.
Craziness!
name that proper noun....Hollywood opera star, Mario
it's only rock and roll:)
Lanza
ding ding ding!
well my real name is in the puzzle today...name of a Hawaiian fruit, but not in the dictionary used by Babble apparently..
poi,poai,poa...poo-poo cannot remember
Lord, I hope her real name is not poo-poo
I hope so as well
ponzie?
Noni?
That's it Molly :-)
Yay!
*Gives Noni a Babble tiara*
change the last vowel
for no4
thanks, molly!
and add the plural for no 5!
and pl
snap car
:)
kitty cuddle!!!!
Just goes to show how horribly fickle Enable is. It recognizes the Hawaiian goose, but not the Hawaiian fruit.
Have to get ready to go to the docs. Have a great day everyone!
and now it is time for crossy's poem of the day!!
A Cautionary Tale: Consider the auk; Becoming extinct because he forgot how to fly, and could only walk. Consider man, who may well become extinct Because he forgot how to walk and learned how to fly before he thinked.- Ogden Nash
TY, Crossy.
thinked? lol
hje was reaching with that one
Blizzard hit Buffalo area yesterday and everything is shut down--all major routes closed last night at 8. Driving bans in most towns.
Minus 9F here, wind chill of minus 31 here, so no cross-country skiing or snowshoeing for Scrabbler.
4 degrees F in Connecticut....hope my car starts this morning
I hope so too, chj.
hovering right at 0F here wind chill around minus 35 or so
no snowshoes for crossy today either
no school either
Schools and businesses are closed.
our grocery store and pharmacy are open but everything else is pretty much closed
I already did one pharmacy run for a lady in our building. the jeep is all cleaned off and raring to go lol
don't think my poor little car has ever been this cold in it's 9 years
brrrr, am not going to complain about our temp in the 30's this morning! Hi everyone
howdy, aloy
this grid is a challenge, for me at least.. hitting a wall earlier than usual
Good morning, fellow polar vortex dwellers!
Hi Aloy and Judi
hi Judi
Me too, Aloy--stuck after finding 44.
polar vortex?? lol. we just call it winter time:))
It's all the fault of those green bay fans wearing the frozen tundra hats. ..
I know, Crossy. Where do they keep coming up with these sensational adjectives for weather? It used to just be a "cold snap".
hairy nosed dolphin alert
Meteorologists love using big terms and creating drama.
well, I found the dolphin ; for a change, there is no volcano
Haha, Ruru
it is winter. if it goes below minus 50 we can make up poetic names for it
True, Judi. "cold snap" "snowstorm"
forgot the name of the damned dolphin. rats!
hi ruru
Buon giorno, Hego.
ciao scrabs
howdy hego
alpo is too proper, but I'll try anything
that's the spirit!
once as a child, when we lived up north, I remember a day when it was minus 47f and my da had brought the battery in from the VW bug the night before and covered the engine with a old blanket, but it was all for naught as the frost plugs were blown out of the little old engine
Aloy's..dog is helping her with the grid..
do not even thing new cars even have frost plugs
Hi ruru
too too cold!
I think you can still get frost plugs from The Hair Club for Men.
Gmail
lol. judi
Good morning ..auto correct
Haha, Judi
howdy ru
ruru, you missed Molly's island of ungotten joles.
jokes
those temps are when you get down on your hands and knees and thank whoever for the wood stove and the kerosene lamps
What's that?
I think she made it up, it was her icon one day.
I cross-country skied yesterday before the storm really hit and when I exited the woods the cold wind hit my face. Ouch!
whew, monkey found a word in pl5 sight
We decided you were a contributor.
Oh..
when I saw her icon,it was the babble for dummies booklet
Hey, Crossy that would be a good Dummies book!
reminds me, 6 months has gone by and it is time for a new wolf icon for crossy
I am using the comparative ending for many words.
right Scrabs
splish, s - pl5, I was taking a bath, extend for two more
must go. Off to PT. Keep warm Friends!!
no, three more!
you too, hego.. hagd!
TY, Aloy
all on a Saturday night..
Bye Hego
do you have to go into work today, Scrabbler?
ty for the pl words aloy
yvw, hands monkey another banana
my monkey is in a coma
I am off on Tuesdays (except I work one evening session each month) and I typically shop for my mother and go to her house. But eh blizzard and driving bans prevent me from doing so. My sister lives a mile away and can help, if needed.
am glad you don't have to go out on the roads
I stocked up my mother's fridge and cupboards pretty well last week.
mm, just heard on the radio that the police are advising everyone to stay off the roads except for snow clearing and emergency vehicles
apricot is all messed up, too bad
Even the ski resort across the valley is closed!
to + hawaian dish for to5.12
so is the one near us in NE Ohio
tbh, when I was checking the school and doing the pharmacy runs, the main roads were not that bad. secondarys, the 400 series hwys and parking lots and smaller side roads are where the real horror is today
ty for to word aloy
TY for to5
yw, still pulling teeth but down to 62 - want to reach 56 before listing
back in a bit
I am down to 140, haha
As an old mechanic and VW rebuilder, I cannot sit idly by and watch someone talk about frost plugs in a VW bug. These were air-cooled engines and did not have frost plugs. These are found only in water-cooled motors. I'll go back to lurking now.
says a quick hello to s
Sam.. hi there
Nothing wrong with offering a correction, Sam. You can stay around.
good morning everyone - I am finding this a tough grid
It is tough for a large grid, River.
hi River, me too!
No, that's good, Sam. We love little factoids like that.
Blessed are they who have nothing to say and can't be persuaded to say it.

lol, o-o! of course I went looking for 'camel' before I got your joke!
pl8/45 = pl + charged particles are **ns + elms are **ees + preposition
I don't get the dromedary joke. I am dense and too literal.
thanks scrabbs - must get back to work now - saving last 61 for later - have a great day all
bactrian has two humps; dromedary one
Bye, river
My eyes need a break.

howdy cos
ugh I cant find the ni5/10
found it
whew! just got from another pharmacy run for a lady in our building and it is getting downright evil out there and just heard on the radio that the public works dept is pulling the plows off the road till the blizzard has abated somewhat
aww nice of u to do that!
got in*
well, cos I love testing my new rides limits anyways and out of a total of 40 apt units in this building, there is only one other fella in a 4x4 half ton truck and myself still able to get to the main road from the parking lot. you do what you can:)
people always come together at times of disaster.. no matter what
gives me a glimmer of hope
and between you,me and the fencepost, I get a real charge out of putting my jeep in 4wd high and blasting through the snow drits;)
had to put somecardboard in the grill however, because snow was getting into the engine
I bought a car a few months ago - and Im very happy I chose that cause of 4x4!
crossy hugs his jeep;)))
indeed, cosdem, it makes a world of difference
yay cross. you go!!... i want to taker my jimmy out and walter wont let me.. i have wheel also
where I work is all uphill from where I live so... 4x4 is necessary as I am an "essential employee" which means snow days I have to go in regardless if school open or not
bad walter!! this is the best time to take a old gmc jimmy out!! but toss your winter kit in before you go!
we have a rare event here, cosdem in that EVERY single school in our area is closed, period. to staff and teachers as well
wow, you guys are all really suffering! We are lucky here. It's chilly (6C I the daytime, 0C at night) but sunny in the afternoons
((ruby))
it is quite widespread here atm, ruby
ptomai n
{{crossy}} and it's even Tuesday
sorry :(
it is!!
my sister in NY can't walk out her front door
nice try cos ptomaine would be a awesome grid word
it is loaded wioth all kinds of stuff but he says a 74 year old woman with no reason to do so is NOT going out and since he outweighs me by 100 lbs i guess he is gonna win this one... the brat
ty ty cos!
we have heat wave today. 10 yesterday. 60 today. 20 tomorrow.

heh heh
wight now, rubys, we are at minus 18c with a wind chill of minus 30c ;) wish I was with you
right*
and I made a huge chicken soup for dinner (husand wouldn't eat it, so he had last night's chili)
I have a famouse crossy home made chicken soup in the slow cooker as we speak;))
do you use root vegetables? Mine has utabaga, turnip, carrots, onion, celery, dill and parsley, just like my mother used to make
mine has califour, carrots and some broccoli and I use egg noodles
various spices and herbs and celery
I guess that means you're not Jewish! lol
P's done!
lol, no, ruby, not jewish, my bacon forbids it
hahah
but a good old fashioned chicken soup neverless
so i will sit here and sulk with a bowl of my turkey sloup that i made from the christmas turkey.. i make a gallon pot and what is left gets frozen in 2 cup batches for lunches,,,,,,,,, dammmm down to three... time for me to make pea soup with the hambone that i saved
3 gallon pot that is
mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I make a deadly good French Canadian spit pea soup with ham
love that stuff
my snowbird neighbor from Dublin fell yesterday, not while skiing, and broke his wrist. What a rotten thing to happen on his holiday
who gets to spit in it?
wife hates that kind of soup however,so I do not get it often:((
split*
I sent home some chicken soup for him, figuring it would make the bones knit faster
better
that is too bad, ruby. and writs breaks are slow to heal;((
I had faith in you being able to translate my typing, erda
he's diabetic, so it makes things more complicated as far as pain control etcc
yeah; I still couldn't resist...
i use lots of celery onions carots garlic and anything green that i can find
what pain meds are forbidden to diabetics, ruby?
many, evidently, but I don't know the details
his wife says he's in a lot of pain and he is a brave guy
does anyone have the lasdt sa7?
not me

whoops, sorry
thanks ruby we're even now :)
back again, was out, brutally cold and windy
{{annie}} giving you soe chicken soup
tree joice + either
((ruby)) I love homemade chicken soup, thanks!!!
thanks!
I tried for my mother's recipe, but it's never as good as he**
Hi cos, sammys, crossy
howdy ,annie
hi annie
same here, ruby, I use the same ingredients but he4 was better or is it the memories that play into the soup
notice how we never, ever, ever make soup as good as our mothers did?
that's a sad fact, crossy, but annie may be right about the memories
I think so as well:)
i can still see my mum in her Jackie kennedy doo and the scarf in her hair, dishing out home made soup and grilled cheese for my lunch:))
My daughter is a very good cook. When I am at her house and we do not go to a restaurant I enjoy her cooking very much.
even to this day in my mind i can still smell all the hair pray they used to use back then. it is a wonder all those cfc,s did not float the house off its foundation lol

YAY for cosdem !!!
you mean like aqua net? i kept a can it is packed away in the attic with other stuff for my kids to ket a kick out of at a future family party

Hi Dorens
o
hello, everyone
Hello Owl :)
hi annie. i am thinking i want to go out. or at least start the car
My car started today. It is brutally cold out there, dress warmly if you go out.
i thouht i saw doren
shes lurking but throwing out letters here and there
:)
back to this yucky grid. I only have 53 words. Going to have to list.
hi bichon :)
Hi Annie. Just got back in the house and very glad of that. I am so thankful I live in a heated house and have foo.
bichon, Yes Im grateful for that too.
heck, i am going out. why not? need to run the car. later, gators
have fun, stay warm
nbt and happy blizzard all
hello all
I did not venture out today
I did peri, several time to walk the dogs.
just finished a batch of spinach/tortellini soup.. now I'm propping up my feet and finding 34 more - hi all
hi Aloy
hi bichon.. happy to say that all the $$$ medicine has really helped daughter's bichon.. he is doing fine now
What was wrong with the Bichon?
he has the same condition as JFK.. starts with an A, can't think of it.. help
Addisons
So he's on steroids?
yes, Addison's.. he has his own pill box, RX delivered to the door, a bunch of pills to take each day
a veterinary pharmacy in Phoenix.. imagine!
Sounds good. I just looked it up on line. Most sufferers are female and Bichons aren't the most common breed to have it
you still have to watch him like a hawk - he will raid the garbage, etc.. insatiable appetitie
appetite, i.e.
Oliver is a male.. and he is oversized for a bichon, but he is purebred
I have to say that is true of all the dogs I have had. Any scrap falling to the floor is immediately consumed.
Bichons can be bigger or smaller. I'm fostering a 10.6 lb female now. Where was he bred?
lol, they also have two weimeranas, don't know how to spell, and the floor stays spotless
The one I am fostering has papers, but she came from a puppy mill
hello again
hi MLF
hi aloy
you are a fan of ML?
that depends on if you know what ML stands for or not. its not Maple Leaf
umm, not Milwaukee Lakers
Milwaukee Lager?
no a singer/actor actually
Lipton won't work, too proper
too bad huh aloy
ooh.. let me think, a male singer?

Is it Michael L.... MLF?

Po 6 in British pub is the guy who collects the used glasses, nothing to do with weed.
Nice clue Aloy

Here is a reach...Meat Loaf

great guess, Molly
oh, Michael Landon was the name I couldn't think of .. ty hego
lol yw
*Tries to picture Michael Landon as a rock star* Not working
Ah, heck!
Although, rock star is a stretch for Meat Loaf too. : D
:)
MLF should put an end to our misery and tell us; maybe he was before our time, lol
I doubt that Aloy.
Strongly doubt it.
evil cackling here
cackle, cackle
I think he's about 12
Okay, who's got the pt 7?

fw
YAY!!! Aloy!!!
Woot Aloy
not an easy grid today, any clues needed before I go fix the rest of the supper? Haven't figured out what to fix with the tortellini soup yet
si6/33 is the "Enable is on drugs" word of the day
salad
Molly what its it?
ty hego.. a soup and salad supper with garlic bread on the side.. problem solved
voila!
ok, happy Babbling all.. ci4 for now (-:
si6/33 involves the high point tile and a comparative ending
Aloy, hints for pl, 8,9,10?
um, 7, 9,10
ty Molly
nm, got them
very weird
alloy, that spinachand tortalinni soup sounds good
I am defrosting some of my butter bean soup for dinner
bbl
Anything hot/warm sounds good today.
Mr. Bich has a meeting so I'm having turkey burgers
made a pot of bean soup wioth ham for dinner tonight - kept kitchen warm this afternoon
no ham in my bean soup
I run a full tea kettle every hour or so when it's this cold to keep humidity in the air.
good idea
I was thinking of getting a humidifier formy bedroom. it is very dry there
I am drinking a lot of hot tea
I have a humidifier in the bedroom and it makes a world of difference.
I am not sure what kind of get
but I am definitely going to look into it
what kind do you have, Molly?
It's a Homemedics Cool Mist. 20 bucks at Amazon. It's just a small bed side one. Does the trick though.
ok, thanks
will check that out, ty Molls
I just got one bout a month ago, it's a Vicks humidifier. I first got a Vicks vaporizer for about $20. didn't like it so got the humidifier for about $40. Does make a lot of difference sleeping at night
CVS also sells a personal humidifier that works with a bottle of water. That also works well.
I think I saw those in Rite Aide, Mary
my humidifier is the old style most of you remember from 30 years ago. has the water chamber and part that shoots the steam around with the little space by the spout you put vicks vap-o- rub for when the kids are sick
Only thing is that you have to clean it once a week with vinegar cause it gets calcium build-up
we had one of those when we were kids, crossy
I bet it will help me sleep better
We had one, around 1950 which boiled water
they probably have them at Bed, Bath and Beyond
hi 7, pls
ro5 pls
bichon, it is a pl with a double consonant in the middle
Italian of yore
duh ty
hi7 sounds like noises horses make
... ro ,,, from the eternal city
need a break, bbs
ty Molly
good evening.
just got back from National Airport. Dropped of the kids, hopefully their flight takes off for San Diego in about 30 mins.
just checked the status, it says they are boarding. That should be a good sign...
I'm sipping a hot whiskey (recipe I got from a nice Irish man on this site) It's just the thing for this ridiculous cold weather.
Sounds lovely, Molly.
Isn't it bad to rink alcohol when it's cold out?
Bich, come on, like bad ever stopped me. : D
I don't think a shot will hurt you. The whole bottle is another matter entirely.
i was thinking of getting a glass of sherry...
DI IT!
I mean, DO IT!
lol....
That's okay, phanmd... an md's writing is always difficult to read ;)
lol...
I am not an MD, I live in MD...
Actually, I am a nurse...
I know .. I was just having fun with the letters :)
I found a chilled Cosmo warmed me right up earlier! Also made me very tired, so ended up taking a little nap ;-P It's cold here in central FL, ya' know!
:)
ok you talked me into it, just made myself a vodka gimlet
Now I'm thinking about a hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps
it's okay, it's after 4 PM here, in fact 4:20
And it's always 5 o'clock somewhere!
:)
with the wind chill here it is 5 below zero right now and going down....
I don't recall ever seeing it specified whether it had to be 5 AM or PM! (hic)
Well, it looks like they are on their way, 5 mins early even!
i have my sherry....and my heated throw on my lap... ;o)
I thought it was after 4:00 PM cocktail hour. By the way we are having a heat wave so my iced drink is okay. It is now 3 above with wind chill of 16 below.
Sounds comfy, pen! That's the way to thumb your nose at that polar vortex!
it is comfy!... :oD
I was just looking up Hot toddy receipes. I thought it was hot apple cider and rum. I was wrong...
Finally this endless grid is over.
*Note to self: Don't ask for a hot toddy at Phan's house*
congrats, Bichon.
I still have 47 words left.
why, Molly, don't you think hot apple cider with rum sounds good?
congrats, bichon!
I'm not a rum lover.
Oh, I see.
I am not a whiskey lover...
i like your icon, molly...
i can drink just about anything, lol....
True confessions of an alcholic...
haha, my last comment was actually directed at me, though it looks as if it could be directed at Pen...
when i went to Russia in the mid nineties, i brought back a two liter plastic coke bottle filled with vodka from my friend's still.....it was wonderful!
lol, phan....
What did you drink the second night you were back from Russia, pen?!
lolol....
only managed to dwindle down to 43 words to find. Gonna search the log for some clues...
i nursed that bottle a long time....saved it for special family occasions...
Well, kids, it's time to break for dinner -- and I didn't have to cook it! YAY! Happy Babbling (and sipping!)
bye!

Hi sue
hi Sue
sa + double consonant + abbreviation for a surgical proceedure
just got back from the doctor's with my son - apparently he has some eye damage from the new year's eve fight
ty phan
ty phand
SA 7 = tree resin + most of a white root - the last vowel.
So sorry to hear that, Sue.
ty phan
Oh, sue, so sorry.
may I have a clue for the AN 6/21 please
i am sorry to hear that suze. what does the eye doc say about it?
he shouldn't do sports or wiggle it too much; right now it is ok but he is running a risk of a retinal tear or detachment
and he has a list of things to watch out for that will take us back there in a hurry; otherwise they'll check him again in a month
will it heal over time if he babies it?
it should, crossy
well, that is positive. Do you think he will be able to baby his eyes enough?
although the vitreous gel is deteriorating in a way that wouldn't be expected until he was 60 or so, apparently this has no real consequences
sounds to me like it was a severe beating and he was but one or 2 punches away from something severe. he should count himself lucky and maybe stay out of the bars
I think so, phand, although some eye movement is unavoidable
yes, and not drink so much either!!
an6.21 ends like book of knowledge encyc.....
yes, it is...
An + perfect place it****
hi Dawg

Just starting after a very quiet Tuesday at home. Starting to think about taxes.
Hi Gran Mere
Hello Molly. Happy New Year to you. I don't think we've chatted since 2014 began.
Hi all :)
Still hoping that you are all keeping safe and warm in the big US freeze!
Happy New year to you, Gran Pere and Murphy. Hope it brings lots of good things into your lives.
Hello Lizlin. WE are some of those shades of grey that the great Northwest is know for. I think I only need black, brown, and white on my palette today.
hi mere and liz...
Hi penquis.
Hi, everyone! Happy New Year!
hi mimi...
Hi Mimi
Hi, pen!
ditto to all...
((Liz))
Tough grid :(
And from me if I've not said it to you before (but I've said it lots of times!)
I've just worked a 12-hour day---nothing else will seem tough tonight!
Indeen, liz. sometimes one just knows the grid has a malevolent bent.
Poor thing, Mimi. Must be exhausted.
Malevolent and beyond!
Yes, am tired and having a martini. But not complaining...happy to be working again and making enough money to pay all bills and even enjoy myself. I just got a digital camera and will be taking pics of my new balcony tropical paradise and posting.
How come na 4 / 9 isn't a proper noun? Silly enable!!!!
Good for you Mimi. Good honest work is a triumph.
Looking forward to seeing the balcony pics.
ever hear of a soup-na--?
1st MA 5/12?
I had to spend way too long without money, stid, so now I work every day...no days off...and it's great.
Yes, jwr and if I think about it, it's just a noun but still ...!
Glad you're happy with things, Mimi. Just don't overdo it!
No money is rough. So happy you have some spending cash, now.
phan....do you have food from God?....haven't listed...
yes, I have that, something before that
don't have it then...
Don't have it yet phan but have the word before it too.
Liz - it's just come into common parlance as describing one who has those characteristics, not necessarily in a political sense
craziness??
The benefit from going through something like that (along with a heart attack) is that I take NOTHING for granted now. So grateful for my life these days.
ma5...a craze or fad
Yes I know - it was just an immediate reaction.
looking for ambrosia. Oh, food from not food of.
Thanks Molly, just found it.
understood
help with mo6/24 pl
Now if I can get some of this weight off, I just might get myself a boy toy! Where men are concerned, these days I no longer want to "own," just "rent."
sorry, don't have it...
Me neither.
Molly---no hello for me?
Still missing 41!
Like the one before it Peri, but ends with last three of what the spoon ran away with
nice clue...
ty Molls
Thanks again.
and now by popular demand, it is time for crossy's famous quote of the day!!!
thanks, Molly
Hi Crossy.
" if you want to build a ship, don't herd people together to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea" - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
howdy,liz
((crossy)) You are waxing poetic tonight---love it!
Very nice quote. I do love The Little Prince.
((mimi))
Love The Little Prince :)
I love the Little Prince too
Can't remember how many times I got it from the library in primary school.
Did you ever read his story about the mail pilot who gets lost at night over Brazil? So sad.
I may still have a copy somewhere
Haven't read that one.
Did he have a volleball for a friend, stid?!! Sorry...couldn't resist.
volleyball, that is.
seems there is a museum of the little prince in Hakone Japan
Sure prefer that to anime!
No Wilson in that story because he never floated about.
Having a martini...my mind is playing wonderful, strange tricks now...well...maybe just strange...
Hello, dear Ladies
Hi hego
((hego))
Hi Liz
((mimi))
Crossy is here, too, hego...but don't think he'll mind being in the group of ladies.
I have all the hard words left.
Crossy gets it.
Hi hego. Hope you are enjoying balmy weather. We are feeling like a B movie with dark and windy night approaching. Footsteps muffled by the drizzling rain.
And I'll just bet always has......
Mimi, we are freezing our tails off here.
Hi Stid
here too, hego
hi hego...
Hi Peri
hi all
Penq, do you have water now?
It's actually cold here for us---just in the 60s today. Yeah, I know...that's nothing. Expecting rain perhaps Thurs. I SO hope for rain!
Well. Then you must do what is necessary to keep warm. I'm sure you will have some fun in the mix, too.
stidgmere knows me well. lol
yes, hego...plumber came on Friday afternoon and fixed the problem....
minus 3 F here mimi. wanna come make a snowman with crossy?
what was it?
it's cold again today...10 degrees and windy...
I doubt it Crossy
I would LOVE that, crossy!
and your blue wolf is lovely
he said there was a problem down in the basement (as I had told the landlord who did not believe me)....
At least you have your love to keep you warm, crossy. I must rely on memories...
I remember Penq.
hehe:) would have to get you acclimatized first i am thinking
Pipes and freezing do not make a good combination.
mimi, we would get you a date up at the ski hill to keep you warm for an evening
Not necessary, crossy---the hot flashes would keep me warmer than I want to be.
lol mimi
That's a thought, crossy...as I said earlier, when it comes to men, just want to rent now, not own...perfect!
Mimi, you devil
yup.will show mimi the fun of après skiing
1st sh6/21 pls
bad, bad
Hego, did you see my post yesterday about the Rita Rudner (comedienne) remark? She said she believes all us mature women with our hot flashes is the main reason for global warming....well, they certainly warm MY globes...
never fear, we will hook you up
Hey, I was an owner for 23 years...kept breaking down..too expensive to fix...so now, just keep trading them in for new ones!
lol. i say to my beloved all the time: " hot and cold enough for you dear/"
lol, love Rita!
That's absolutely right on, crossy!
I may not even wait for the lawsuit to settle in May, crossy---just might visit early in the Spring...can you and your lady handle that?
you don't want to go where he lives too early Mimi.
Hego, she has a new video out (available on Netflix) called "Rita Rudner, Live in Las Vegas." So funny. My other big fav is Paula Poundstone but she's hard to find anywhere.
hello all
love Paula too.
Hi TO
I should actually go now, hego....might be the only place I can stay cool....except for the "apres ski" of course.
we can handle that. we will set you up in this lovely B&B on Blue Mountain and take you out on the water for a tour of Georgian bay
Hey, TO!
Dreaming of Georgian Bay, crossy.....
And---looking forward to a crossy breakfast. I LOVE breakfast but never really fix it for myself.
just wait till the ice is out on the bay.. about may or so
mmm..crossy breffast
I will go there myself some day. Maybe next year.
My birthday is May 14th---how about me spending it with you and your lovely wife?
peri....that sh word is a woman's name....
Hego, we need to get a posse together and invade Canada---starting with crossy!
there ya go mimi:)
lol@ invading canada
Liz would know the sh lady's word name!
I invaded western Ca last year, time for the middle.
Oh, the invasions I have experienced in my life....BTW, the book is coming along....being completely candid...whoa.
hello hego, mimi
well, get ready, mimi, because round here breakfast is THE meal of the day. Everything else is an afterthought. Sometimes the breakfast prep has so many things going on that it evolves into a brunch of epic size
Maybe I can chip in with my family recipe of Swiss Eggs...unbelievably rich and amazingly good.
what time?
swiss eggs..interesting
LOL, hego.
they have holes in them and yodel.
well, if anything breakfasty that i make ends up with a hole in it, it gets filled with cheese
The recipe sounded disgusting to me when my bio mother told me about it, but it's wonderful. Ingredients: shredded swiss, eggs, sour cream/brown sugar mixture...bake. Truly amazing.
so they are baked whole eggs?
i know this type of egg cooking, you take all the ingredients and use muffin tins or lasagna dishes
sort of like baked shirred eggs?
You lay down the cheese in a loaf pain, make little indentations and put a whole egg into each indentation, salt and pepper, cover with the sour cream/brown sugar mixture and bake until eggs are set....yum.
About 6 eggs per loaf pain.
sounds great.
pan...sorry..martini kicking in.
i used to do an amazing egg bake with smoked ham, cheese, bits of diced onion and lots of eggs, just butter up the cups and fill em up and bake em
One of the few things I actually gained from meeting my biological mother.
yum :P
Oh, Mimi
or i could make you crossys famouse English bacon and egg pie
Sorry, must go. G'nite All.
sounds yummy! Making me hungry and I've just had brekky!
it sounds good except i cannot tolerate eggs if not scrambled.
i like eggs any way you can thing except for eggs bennie
think of*
Just spotted the sh - girl's name. LOL - when I read back what you'd written I spotted it! Obviously not a true Aussie yet!
Now I'm really hungry. Have a big pot of my chicken spaghetti ready that I made yesterday. Must go have dinner and another martini. Hey, crossy, try eggs bennie with bearnaise sauce instead of hollandaise...really good and better, I think.
Have a good evening Mimi - hugs.
See how we're always thinking of you, Liz?!
chicken spaghetti?
tc ((mimi)) watch those martini,s they sneak up on you
LOL Mimi! And there I was hanging out washing!!!
TO, if you want the recipe, email me and I'll send...easy, inexpensive and better the 2nd and 3rd days. Made it up myself.
cannot find the girls name
It's not Bruce!
And it's in the top left corner!

Nah, the martinis don't have a chance....I'm ready for 'em! the girls name is what Aussies call women, crossy.
ty mimi
lots of ladies names in here an4
A girlie grid!
I have made an avocation out of creating recipes with few ingredients, not many steps, inexpensive and really good, TO...glad to send several to you if you like...they're all stored in the computer, so easy to do. Just email me at catjdesigns@yahoo.com.
A girlie word show, if you will, Liz!
:)
may I have a clue for the NI 5/10 please
OK---gotta go eat and feed the cats. Had so much fun with this chat---many of my favorite people here tonight, so I'm happy. See you later and hugs all around.

See the ha 6/36
is it even a word oo?
Apparently so .... Enable is a dictionary of integrity
got it....thanks....means thick, viscous...
but lots of times when I get a word and look up the definition, Google sites have never heard of it
i am done, thank goodness...did not like this grid...
i just clicked on the question mark next to the word...

tyvm!
finally found it mab. Thanks for working so hard for us
how are you healing bugsaw?
much better thanks mab. I see the doctor tomorrow to find out when I can put pressure on the foot and start my rehab. I will be so happy when I can drive!
oh that's very good news!
Saddest day Ever! I felt victorious when I found a word using Morewords.
are you keeping well?
will be thinking of you tomorrow.
poor gramma. It has happened to me too
Really?
as I said to o-0, too many of the words that are used in babble are scientific words that are not in my field/fields
I think I have been over-served. I couldn't find a word to save my soul.
this is prooving to be a stinky grid all right
I have accepted the premise what I view as words is of no consequence ... the only consequential is adding agglomerations of letters deemed to be words by Enable to the list ...
G'night all. See you on the morrow
g'nite...
good philosophy o-o but I like to learn new word that I could use occasionally
Nit gramma
may I have a clue for the SI 6/33 please
nm, I figured it out!
and finally FW!
congrats!
pawell done phandmd
sorry, well done I meant
anyone need clues?
Congrats, pen!
is the pl 7,9,10 related and would one clue help me?
start with the pl 4/5 - a course of action
yes, add the last 3 ltrs of the thing that ran away with the spoon to the 4/5 and add on to that
pl4.5 + kinda ending
add a flounder or bass: f*** for the 7/36
congrats, phandmd!
ty o-o stilll thinking for more
add one who does to the end of the 7 then plural
o for pete's sake those aren't what I call real words! but thanks
then add the one who is doing the pl 7/36 for the 9.66; pl it
several obscure, odd and down right weird words in today's grid.
for sure lbd
A pseudoword is a unit of speech or text that appears to be an actual word in a certain language (at least superficially), while in fact it has no meaning in the lexicon. It is a kind of non-lexical vocable. Enable has real words no matter how unreal the words may seem.
A pseudoword also is known as a jibberwacky or wug word
Jibberwacky, what a fun word!
Not to be confused with "Jabberwocky," a nonsense poem written by Lewis Carroll in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass.
Twas bryllyg, and ye slythy toves Did gyre and gymble in ye wabe: All mimsy were ye borogoves; And ye mome raths outgrabe.
that's exactly what I thought it was at first glance.
Word choice can be such a dilemma. A word of precision may be unknown to the other conversant. A less precise word may lead to confusion.
well, not to confuse anyone, I'm going to go to bed. sweet sleeps everyone! stay warm! or cool depending on your location. see you all tomorrow.
sleep well lbd
