I don't much care for this grid - and I refuse to believe there's a 10 letter word!
aww son, the 10 is so easy. start with en8, to place in a position of strength, then past tense it

No but I'm only about 2hours drive from Scotland - we have such a small country that at this time of morning the temperatures across the nation are pretty much the same, usually. after a warm, spring-like month, it is snowing lightly and very cold and miserable
minus 16c here last I looked
but I shouldn't complain, at least there are a lot of flowers already: forsythia, hyacinths, tulips, daffodils, alyssum and primroses
as long as we don't get a hard freeze, all will be fine
I have a yard full of flowers and a pear tree in full bloom . . . and tomorrow nite it's going down to 23 which means a hard freeze . . . crap
i actually do not bother looking at the temperature overmuch, at least until enough ice falls off the windows to be able to actually look outside!

one year the fig tree got hit with a hard frost and I thought it was a goner, but even though the branches all had dead tips, it is still alive. No figs for 2 years, though. They form and fall off without ripening, twice a year

i buy their oatmeal, and nuts. used to buy cherry jam but they changed it. longing for some michigan sour cherry jam.
the oatmeal is much superior to quaker. and even better is to mix half oatmeal with half of their whole grain hot cereal.
they changed our prediction from major snow to little to no accumulation.

I guess you try to get all the words you can before listing

Why do people feel the need to declaw cats makes me angry. Unless there is a medical reason
because couches are expensive, I guess? I rather figure claws come with the cat and if that doesn't fit your lifestyle, choose a different species pet... perhaps a guinea pig?

Over the weekend we got jokingly asked about declawing our monsters.
Well, I've managed to have kids, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, mice, hamsters, rabbits and a gerbil and necer felt the need to de-claw any of them! Tempting thought at times, but never done it. lol

I was doing a bit of tidying up yesterday and sadly realised I could put away the brush I used to keep in the sitting room that speedily brushed away cat hairs off the sofa for any visitor who was fussed about them.

We have no pets (for now), but their fur lingers on. If I wear black you can be sure a stray cat hair will find it. :)

My old cat wandered off one night and my parents were in a coastal area. I was really beyond pissed off at them for not keeping her in a run like I had said a million times before she went off

Well, I guess if cats aren't allowed to wander and so get to know their territory, they will either get lost or come to grief. However, I think your parents might have been right about your old cat going off to die. Cats often prefer to do that.

years of avoiding dentists, mainly. nothing acutely traumatic, but went in this month and spent $3000 for 2 crowns and 5 fillings.
going back next month to do the other side of his mouth
oh gee. that's rough. I am so glad our dental insurance paid for most of the work I needed when two teeth needed crowns (a third would have needed a crown, but the root canal split the tooth so it turned into an implant...).
But at least he is taking care of it now.
eesh. yeah, hopefully this is the end of expensive dentals... but with a $10,000 tax bill on top of that, there's just nothing to put towards house building
