WTG RURU!!!
OMG 282 words i will never finish
th4's the loo and the handbasin done. just the shower and mirror to go. then just the front bathroom, but it can wait.
Sounds like my jobs for tomorrow, Rose.
if i break it down, i can do it all. i have already washed dishes, cleaned bench tops, emptied and washed the 2 inside rubbish bins, finished the ironing, cleaned the bird cage...puff, puff, pant, pant.
Feet up for the rest of the evening - Don will wait on you hand and foot :)
yeah, i think th4's a good idea, liz
agree, that sounds enough for today - the rest will wait, you know - haha, as it has for me, gotta get busy tomorrow
Th4's always a good idea - whatever the circumstances.
amazing isn't flosey? never a fairy godmother around when you need one?
When you find one, clone one for me!
lol, but hubby's been great - after a day of garden work, he will come in and make supper if I've had an off day
maybe th4's how i make my fortune...lol
That's lovely, Flosey - lovely man.
oh, flosey, half the chimney is down, i can now through to the laundry from the kitchen. i am so excited. the room is going to be lovely and spacious.
yup, for sure, Liz
sounds great rose
36 left for later or tomorrow. Lovely grid - except for the h's - total admiration for you finishing them so quickly, Flosey.
wow, very good Liz, I am slowing down, still have 124
Sleep well Flosey and others in the US and enjoy your evening, Rose - hugs :)
thanks Liz, enjoy the rest of your day
US and Canada - not thinking the they're the same thing!
{{hugs}} liz girl. have a great rest of shabbat
same continent and good neighbours
Thanks Rose :)
What is shabbat?
I just googled it, sounds like the Christian sabbath??
Ok thx
being the 7th day
Oh..
Australia is ahead of us in the time zone
shabbas/shabbat is sunset friday to sunset Saturday in Jewish tradition. Worship happens on Friday night, and no wrk may be performed on Saturday.
For a second i thought it was something skewered and on a bbq
in Israel, the weekend is Friday/Saturday.
thanks Seain, interesting
evening, flosey and ruru
jewish word for sabbath. it is from the first star seen on friday evening to first star seen on saturday evening
Hi dc
yes, exactly as grannyrose says :)
g'day seain
hello, rose
there are 5 fridays in this month.
we have had many jewish friends over the years and they taught us a lot. Hubby started teaching in an area predominantly Jewish area in Ontario - lots of smart kids
means we get to have take-away indian banquet for dinner . can't wait. it is so yummy.
seain, i used to take care of an elderly jewish lady. she loved to teach me about her faith. and she was a good teacher too.
I take it you are referromg to East Indian rather than North American Indian?
very nice, and i'm sure rewarding it sounds. :)
East Indian foods are very good - some quite hot, as in spicy
North american indians didn't cook that well
she was a sweetie, but we could almost come to blows when it was time for her shower....lol...she had early alzheimer's. and could never remember when it was shower day.
having been through alzheimer's with two relatives, i can easily imagine.
you know, ruru? i have never eaten anything cooked in the fashion of north american indians.
The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian has a cafe that serves a native american menu featuring dishes from different regions.
seain, i used to end up in fits of giggles at her protestations.
some common foods here, including corn pudding, cornbread, succotash, and turkey come from the natives.
Hehehe, that's easy to imagine too, rose :)
ooohhh, really seain. then himself and i really must go th5 when we come over.
there were once many millions of north american Indians, most of whom died in after the Europeans came. Kind of hard to generalize about the food of such a large group of people, a lot of whom aren't around anymore to know
nice pic of you and jms, Seain
It's the one Smithsonian i've not been to yet.
Indian chief to wife: " jeez bison again? "
thanks, flosey :)
indeed so, joym
well the 9 was easy once i found la8 :)
I like the cafe at the Smithsonian American Indian museum too..I have to admit it's my favorite part of that museum.
i've heard from many people that they've the best food in the Mall area.
thaks seain, for the la9
sl9, yw :)
yes, sorry, following the chatline
the area just north of the mall, around the MCI center, has a lot of good restaurants too
gosh i loved this grid...no really weird words.
th4's not to say i didn't miss some by the way. but when i found them it was a duh moment. * sigh *
it does indeed, if not the lovely selection of various Chinese it used to have.
are there any Chinese restaurants left at all? There were a couple that I loved.
I loved Chinese food - even though it was a migraine trigger
Chopsticks Chinatown and the place in the basment on 6th just south of H are still there.
before we come over, you all are going to have to email with all your suggestions of ' must see ' stuff. but th4's in about 2 years time.
Including one called "Eat First" which had my all-time favorite typo on their menu -- Bean Crud
will be happy to when you need, rose
Eat Frist was lovely.
oh, no, joy. roflol
flosey, was it the msg in the chinese food which triggered your migraines?
dcseain, have you been to Jaleo?
YES - took a long time to realize what it was
many, many times between the &th and E and the Crystal City locations.
i Ricchi is lovely, too, if you want Italian.
Mama Ayesha's on Calvert St NW is lovely middle eastern.
It's still my favorite tapas place; I miss it.
I love the Italian Tiramisu
yes, Jaleo is the most like i remember in Spain of all the various tapas places.
Now I'm hungry...
flosey, over he4, it is against the law to put msg in food . you could eat freely. and without a migraine to follow.
that's wonderful, rose, in Toronto all the ones I went to used MSG and I always suffered after - but loved their food
I went to Spain once, in the late 1980s, and I still remember the taste of the jamon serrano...
our local sushi and noodle bar is to die for...and we probably will...lol. the first time we ate th5 i thought i had died and gone to heaven. no need for soy sauce or any other condiment.
at the airport in Palma de Mallorca, i went to the counter and asked for "dos bocadillos, un de jamon y el otro de jamon y queso', por favor" I was given a traditional serrano on a hard roll for the ham, and the ham nad cheese was serrano with cheddar on anglo-style white bread. LOL it confused us that the bread was so different because of the cheese.
I can live quite happily without sushi - it was quite popular on the west coast here, I couldn't even stand the smell of the places - very respectable ones - just had something else that was a bother to me
sounds lovely, rose
gotta go to bed, it's after midnight and I'm turning into a pumpkin...night all
and a very lovely one too, joy. sleep well, dear.
sweet dreams, joy
i am game for any cuisine seain. but i do have to watch the spices. chili sends my body temperature out of control. but hot curries don't....go figure.
ah, same time zone joy, and that should send me off to bed too, 116 for tomorrow, goodnight all
sleep well, flosey
and not too clever with pepper either.
i eat a rather spicy diet, but i do know how to tone it down or leave it out. :)
sweet dreams, dear flosey
ty seain - and you, when you get there
and to you rose,
seain, it drives me nuts. i cook the most delicately flavoured meals, and himself just about empties the salt and pepper shakers/grinders onto them.
month 8 since the newer-to-me cat arrived, and the two of theme are working still on cohabitating. still learning to share me. the 5-year age difference does not help, either. he wants to play and she does not.
heavens to betsy, rose, i cannot imagine.
i was so pleased to see jamie oliver's recipe for osso bucco the other night. it is identical to mine, except i use red wine and not white.
red makes more sense to me than white, though i've not eaten meat in 20 years.
and get th4 tongue out of your cheek, young man...lol. i kn ow, i know....it's totally about different palates.
tonight i enjoyed a still cidre blanc -- apple juice fermented with white whine yeast. Very nice -- cider-ike and wine-like all at once, if not at all like an apple wine.
i use a lot of lemon zest and the more delicate spices when i am cooking. because of his sinus problems, he simply cannot taste them.
ooohhh, nice seain.was it a light, crisp flavour?
no, bright, light, apple juice flavor, 6% abv, a little bit of citrus on the finish.
and at $15/3L, a good buy.
seain, with the newer cat...have you set up play things for it? like climbing posts, catnip balls on elastic, mice chews etc
hmmm something to look out for. what is it called?
do you have strongbows over th5? it is both a still and a bubbly cider of varying strengths.
we do. It's MUCH better on tap than in the can.
oh yes, LOTS of play things. But he's 3, and she's 8. :)
Crispin Cidre Blank -- it's out of Pennsylvania.
hmmm, he should settle down over the next 12 months or so. but meanwhile, you have a cranky cat who doesn't want to play...
yes, it's gotten better bit by bit over months. :)
will check it out, seain.
er, Crispin Cidre Blanc -- i can spell, really. ;)
this particular product is a bag-in-box, 3L size.
yeah, but spell checker can't....lol
i see th4, seain. trying to find a supplier in australia now.
GREETINGS FRIENDS ---hugs and love Rose
{{hugs}} my darling pugs...what are you doing up at this time?
not that i am delighted to see you. and sprite hasn't been on yet either.
I just woke up and decided to come and enjoy my friends for a while
awww, how lucky for us..are you anxious about next week?
Is she alright? I have written her a couple of times and not heard anything from her
I'm just a tad bit, I wont lie
hey...Rob, Tim, and Caya...go poke sprite...right now!!
hello, puglet
she is dealing with her usual stuff. a new med which is giving her grief.
Hello DC
Sprite was on here last night, about this time.
pugs, i did answer you email which was gratefully received.
how are things with you,DC?-----Rose, I keep you in my prayers with all that you are going through
I got yours Rose and thank you but I was talking about Sprite not answering
things are okay, thank you. gradually getting back on my feet financially, which is nice, if slower than i would like, but good progress after several years of under-and unemployment. :) But, i have place to live and food, and can care for the cats and the car and me, so no complaints at all.
oh, darling pugs. the disability pension has been approved. not much money-wise. but i get a pension card which gives me a lot of perks.
oh, that's wonderful news, rose
seain, nice to see your life is slowly gaining some sort of normalcy, mate.
well thats something good going for you for once Rose--so happy for you
I, too am glad you are making progress DC--I know just how all that is myself
yes, seain and pugs. finally things are going into a positive swing.
well its about darn time Rose. You and Don still thinking of running away for a week or two
pugs, don and i have booked a 6 day get-away from the 23rd of november.
and the economy is starting to pick up again here in the DC area, which is nice.
how wonderful for you two! Please enjoy! You two deserve it
pugs, did i tell you about my pain management doctor? in south america on holiday?
well, i should sleep -- it's 4AM.
good night DC nice to talk to you
sweet dreams, seain. lovely to catch up with you, mate
G'night, pugs, good evening, rose. Nice chatting with yall :)
my doctor went to south america with his wife for a 5 week holiday. 2 weeks ago, in south america, he had a massive heart attack and died. his poor wife was stuck th5, no friends or family. and she couldn't get a flight back to australia until last week.
what a terrible thing to happen
was she able to bring his body back home
can you imagine, pugs? being in a completely strange country? with no-one to support/help you through such a devastating event.
i haven't heard, pugs. i will be in contact with the clinic at the end of november.
no I cant---how awful for her
how is Barb doing? you said her BSL was high.
Rose, how are you after all they have put you through
actually, pugs. my stress levels are falling, rapidly.
its back to normal now---the doctor has been pleased with her readings and weight so I dont know what happen there
good...i am pleased. was W involved, do you think?
I miss you guys so much, I feel so out of the loop on everything---Its understandable Rose with all you have gone through this year and last as well
I dont really think so Rose
My friend Carol is not doing so well either. I got to mow today and go help her do up her things at the campgrounds for winter as well today
hmmm. *wonders if Barb has learned to access food which is 'out of bounds"
I'm thinking she over ate on something, is my guess
pugs, the chimney is down enough for me to see through to the back wall of the laundry from the kitchen. the glimmer of how much room i am going to have is very he5ening.
I'm so hoping I dont have to miss much work after the operation
have you and don started redoing your home?
pugs, relax and trust in God, dear. he will never give you too much to bear.
thanks Rose, I forget to do that sometimes
your employer surely understands how you need to recover from such abdominal surgery and how much it will benefit.
My boss has and is very good on all that, its just worring about keeping everything paid
actually he just told me yesterday that if I need anything and if he can help with anything just call and the same if I need more time off
pugs, it will be paid, dear..it might need a little help. but it will be paid. you need this surgery. please relax, my darling. and go with the flow.
Love and hugs Rose--I know and you are right
and th5 you go...God has this totally in His control...
Is don doing beter now as well Rose
I seen the pics you sent of Braxton--such a pretty baby and getting so big too
pugs, he is under my physio. but he is still needing to go to a surgeon for his shoulder. he does have some very tight muscles in his neck and shoulders.
going to have to put Sprite on him--lol
sprite was he4 almost an hour earlier yesterday. which does not bode well. it probably means she has had a lousy night.
she'sbeen on my mind for the last couple of days and I'm worried about her
pugs, yes, dear. i so love how braxton has forged ahead. btw...my eldest's bvaby daughter was born on the 17th of october, 5:15am, weighing in at about 9 1/2 lbs.
oh wow Rose, how nice a new grandbaby
:-( i have been forbidden to have any contact whatsoever.
oh no Rose--how sad---My heart goes out to you
pugs, love. this is my eldest son. he has a worm in his head, planted by my ex. he has decided to cut me out of his life.
I'm sorry for you Rose but not much you can do. Its got to hurt though
i have realised th4 he is a bully. he isolates me. at a family gathering, he will step up and speak to don who is right beside me, and totally ignore me.
I know i'm not in this conversation but your situation breaks my heart Rose, I am so sorry. Exes can be so cruel and cunning and our children can be cruel too xxxxx
the definition of bullying is, in part, isolation of an individual. he does this to me...i have decided i do not need this in my life.
Is all our friends here on babble doing okay? Like, OO,Ru -wor and zoom and crosby and flosey and ruby and so on--lol
xoxox, jacq. thanx for that.
o-o, does not chat with me. the others are he4. not seen wor for a while.
No you sure dont Rose. I feel bad you will lose out onyour grand babies there. Hugs dear friend
good morning!
thanx pugs. love your hugs
nobody needs a bully in their lives xxx
Is my little pugs still here?
Is my little pugs still here?
RUBY!!!!!!!! howdy
oohhh, ruby...pugs is he4.
It has been a long time since I've seen you. Are you oK?
{{rosie}}
hello jacq
{{hugs}} my dearest ruby
I'm still breathing Ruby--lol hugs to you too---Hope things are getting beter for you
I hadn't started the grid so I guess I start in the PB
for goodness sake!! someone poke sprite!!
SPRITE!! SPRITE!!!
Rose, is there anything I can do for you , dear friend
It can't get better he**, but I'm OK, just dealing with Burt's decline
PRAY, DARLING. PRAY!! please..i really believe in the power of prayer.
hello rubyfoo xx
hiya puglet too, sorry xx
I sent you a card or two Ruby through email---my heart goes out to you as well on all that you are going through as well
Hi ya jacq, I'm sorry, I didnt mean to over look greeting you
and this is my least favorite time of year. The days are getting very short, very fast and there is no color in the woods to make up for the low light
Rose, that person I wrote you about, we can pray together--that means alot to me
me neither here puglet, it happens in the chog lol x
its pretty here right now--all the fall colors are out
i hate the long nights too ruby, i tell myself that after december i can watch them grow longer, it helps keep my spirits up, i just don't think about how far away december is lol
exactly, jacq, and the holidays are not exactly a big draw. The good news is that DIL is coming again in Dec and my various snowbird friends, from Scotland and Ireland, who have houses in our street, will be here in Dec.
Maybe I'll give an Anglophone holiday party, if I have the energy
that all sounds nice for you Ruby
phat
sorry
lol
(not calling names! lol)
pugs, i am so pleased you have found a prayer partner. as i have. don joins with me every night.
thats great Rose! that was a number one thing for me--its something very important to me
pugs, we use our pew leaflet to lead us in our prayers every night.
{{hugs}} and lots of kisses dearest pugs. they are few and far between, dear. and a joy when found.
thats a great ideal! I use the book you and Sprite sent me, most everyday
although we are almost 1600 miles a part it seems to be workking and of course its slow but thats a good thing
xoxox pugs. if it fits into your life then it has to be from God.
seems to be as we think as well--lol
you both deserve ha***
thanks Ruby as we all do I really think
not me. I a very impatient with Burt although I try no to be
seems to have been a year of ups and downs for us all but I'm so thankful for you all to have gotten through it all
what you deal with Ruby is hard and dont beat yourself up so much---its nothing more then stress and I'm sure all understands
ruby..you worship the same God to us. my darling...He stands by you. please be strong.
I'm afraid I "spend" my prayers on y dogs
and that is not a sin, ruby.
Ruby, you have stood by Bert through all this and still are--that is a strong person in my book and I'm sure it is with God too
They used to bless the animals in the local church but the priest is gone and the church is only open for funerals and concerts.... :(
Have you seen the movie Chocolat? There is a lovely exchange between a parishioner and the priest about whether dogs have souls....
I have seen that movie and its a good one
It's one of my all-time faves; I've seen it about a dozen times
time to go and check on mr. personality
I'm happy to have seen you this AM; it is definitely a bright spot!!!!
it was good to touch base with you Ruby--have a good day
I'll be back later to try for a few more words. For the moment, I have 152 but no nbt or nbs
okay Ruby--bye dear and hugs too
{{hugts}} my derest pugs. sprite will be so disappoi8nted.,
let's try th4 again..
Please give her my love and to the others as well and you too--will do Rose--you and don take care and know I think of you all--hugs and lots of them and love too
Good morning all
{{hugs}} my dearest pugs. sprite will be so disappointed.

I remember, Molly, saying it was on the 2nd November for them too!
Hopefully it won't be dark when I go out around 7:30 then, at least for a month
lol th5 is th4 I suppose.Although I would prefer if they left the clocks alone. Soooo annoying having to change the clocks and watches etc twice a year..lol
Me too, no need to keep changing them any more.
woo, found the 9
Nice going! I do tile by tile for the first quick run.On the W at the moment got 7s & 8s but no 9 yet.
good morning all
Hello, Sprite :-)
hey zooz :) *hugs* How have you been?
I am well thank you.And yourself?
not too great atm. Bad nights, lots of pain, tired as can be. I blame the new meds, lol.
{{hgs}} dearest sprite.
Aww Sorry to he4 th4.(((Sprite)))
*hugs rose* Hello my dear friend. How was your day?
thanks zooz :) This too shall pass!
Can you not change the meds to different types?
puglet was he4. and i am sure she sends you many xoxox.
um yeah that is what we are doing, actually. Moving from one that didn't work so well to one that hopefully will. But the interim time is nasty.
am so sorry to have missed her :(
sprite!!! i hope your day was kind. i have taken it in very small doses, dearest.
well done, rose. Babysteps, that is the ticket. I decided on a recipe, went shopping, couldn't find one ingredient.... went to another store.... enfin, you can fill in the rest.
our bathroom is only 50% cleaned...tomorrow or monday se4s to me a good time...
sounds good, rose
and i can see clean through from the kitchen to the old laundry. i am so excited...
that sounds good as well
ugh, sprite...and dinner tonight is??
no idea, but Rob will take care of it.
lolol...roll on Rob.
wh4 did you decide for last night?
Rob is awesome. No idea how I ended up being married to the best man in the universe, but I did.
some asian chicken dish, rose.
* ear-to-ear grin* i do. he is an amazing man.
:D
and if i am not married to the best man in the universe, i am married to the second best.
hehehe ok, they can share the winning place. God knows we share everything else, sister of my soul.
yup, sprite. right by you, darling. and why shouldn't be our men?
indeed!
sprite...i am so in unity with you, dear.
isn't that amazing? Can't wait till june next year. Really cannot wait.
sprite, my dearest. i have so many hugs and kisses to give you.
apologies, hun. it is time for my meds. i had to get them ready.
and I, you. It is gonna be brilliant.
i am not sure about the canoeing thing. don ha4s the thought of his hair getting wet.
np rose. Meds are important :)
his hair and everything else will stay dry, no worries.
he was subject to a lot of water stuff which affected how he reacts to stuff in his old
he was subject to a lot of water stuff which affected how he reacts to stuff in his old
ugh...'old' age.
I am imagine. We will see. Might be a healing experience for him. But nobody is gonna force him to do anything. We can try stuff out close to home.
np's. you and i will co9nnect closer to the tie.

Sweet dreams
Grappa girl is back from lunch
sukee??
Just finishing my breakfast
My neighbor brought me sme homemade fruit jelly candies this AM. Incredible!
Just found a nice la8 tis ph of what I did with my beard before I shaved:)
((Ruby))
Did you also find the 9?
Not yet
Just add a letter to that and past tense
And after lunch, my local "boyfriends" all wanted to buy me drinks. My favorite is Momo (Maurice), who looks like he has a goiter!!!!
Lol, I love your life :)
But they are so sweet
It's certainly a funny ife, being inthi this very foreign society. I feel really accepted here, though, so it's all very funny. I just wish it was easier with my husband
So my cat has some kind of intestinal problem. Might be lymphoma. Vet gave me prednisone to give him twice a day. Luckily it is in liquid form which makes it a bit easier.
So the scan was not definitive?
Aw, Ruby is their bellissima
Giving meds to animals is no joke. How do you give a liquid to a cat? With a syrige?
The intestine is mishaped. I would have had to get a biopsy to be sure, but either way the treatment is similar. One is just palliative.
I can give anything to the dogs, as long as it's wrapped in cream cheese
Yes, a little syringe. We are getting most of it in :)(
How old is the cat?
He is over 16
I don't want him to have any surgery at his age
Lol you can give anything to me as well-- as long as it is wrapped in bacon:)
I think you are correct, as long as he's not suffering
lol
Do you have to throw it up in the air, crossy?
Lol
He seems to be in a bit of pain, hoping the meds help. They should.
Poor kitty
I've o nly had to put one dog down, the others have died one way or another, but it hasn't been my decision.
Good thing, I picked up some special wet food and he is lapping it up. He never used to eat wet food when I gave it to him.
This food is supposed to help cats with intestinal problems.
That's a good thing, sukee
So, that is more expense. But willing to pay for it. He is now getting both wet and dry.
We go far fr our beoved aimals!
(great typig) blame it on te grappa
(can't find all the letters.....)
So, my wallet is about $1,000 thinner.
as I recall, that high-end vet wet can food rings in at about $1.75 per small tin:(
make your pants fit better!
Yes, who needs a new couch anyway ? :)
I spend more money, per week, on the dogs' food, than on my own
have to stop all those suitors from fawning over you ,ruby, you will have to thin the heard and break a few hearts:)
herd
Try about $2.75 for a can that lasts two days :)
Today, they wated to know my real age I think I a older than their mothers!
I am hoping it's cheaper by the case
we spend approx $200/month to maintain 3 cats
I better get writing more :)
I am loathe to add up wh** I spend on the dogs, but I don't care. Without the, I couldn't stand living here
keep them guessing, ruby:)
Wow, 200 a month is almost a car payment
it is
I'm just so much smaller than the local women, it keeps the wondering
can't seem to find the m's
hello, Miss Molly
8 bags of cat littler/5 cases of tins of wet cat food/ one large bag of premium dry cat food.. cost goes up if you add shampoo,s brushes and other kitty toys
167 words, but stuck on the lonely f and the 9. Any help would be welcome
I've been getting off easy for years. Two bags of dried food a year cost about $200. Litter maybe $8 every two months.
The F is a vitamin (or at least in the vitamin family). I don't yet have the 9
Trips to the vet probably jack that monthly cost up as well. That is a big expense.
So far I've managed 127 words without Lickety, but I'm running out of steam. I am missing any of the bottom centre Es and the 9 to get NBT etc
ty for the f, matty
sl9...what you do to cream cheese on a bagel, past tense
9 is SL 9/66
with three cat, I change two litter boxes every three days:(
Sl9. What you do with mustard on a hotdog past tense
My vet no longer comes to the house. Rufie growls at her and she's afraid, even though he's never bitten anyone. And there's no way I can get these huge dogs into the car
LOL and I was going to say butter...
Thank you! Now just that bottom E for me, and then I can go to Lickety with a clear conscience :)
I'm having breakfast, Ru is watching baseball
And I have one. Yay.
ty ruru, you always come thru!
I only have 1 of the bottom E
I have one - the sleepy one
em4/5
My clues are invisible to Grappa Girl today
but you are visible and lovely, molly
She doesn't eat creamcheese
So was my bellissima comment earlier. I think that got lost in the cat chat.
NBT etc :)
I accepted the compliment with a blush. TY
now it'sw time to eat some more fruit jellies, do the NYT puzzle and, hopefully, have a nap (unlikely)
who doesn't eat cream cheese?
86 left. I need a break.
Ruby, apparently there are people who don't eat bagels either. GASP
Sacrilige.
It really is kind of an ungodly idea
Kind of like disliking Abba
No, I wouldn't go that far
LoL
For me, ABBA is what will be playing on the muzak in Hell
Abba plays eternally in Hell's elevator
And if I complain, they will switch up to John Denver
Abba sounds kind of Satanic to me
156 words - I think I shall be going onto Lickety - that's pretty good for me
Good call matty
Ruru, why are you awake at 0440?
Been having trouble sleeping
Me too. ((Ruru)) Does Dylan sleep with you?
wow -- surprised to see ru in the wee hours :-)

i'm such a geezer, my first skates had a key LOL
Ru's flag is an I wish, not a real location
Ruru is on the west coast USA actually.

Lol
I bet you use hockey skates, Ruru.
If i ever want to feel like a queen molly
Figure skates scrabs
I use hockey skates...and a helmet. The kids skate wildly during the open skate sessions.
I used to land doubles. Never made a triple though
Did you start skating as a little kid?
It would be kind of hard to figure skate in hockey skates
I was a guard at a rink
amazing, ru!
Impossible molly hockey skates i could never master
this conversation is making me want to go watch "miracle"
Truly une.. sometimes i put tbe lutz in clutz

Bring him here to napa une
Sappy is sappy jj

Trying to give Une lead poisoning?!
une..do you by any chance play words with friends as Uny?
silly children! LOL
no, babs
True, maybe a wee lead apron for the cup instead
Coffee snob that I am, I would rather drink cold coffee than reheat it in a microwave.
Me too

beautiful peony, babs :-)
I don't use my nuker ever

Austin, that is
oh you're in austin! my Abell cousins live there :-)

no but everyone raves about austin
Do you ring them up often une?
yes...a bit too many raving, so now crowded and hard for people to find housing
you're not that far away to come visit your cousins :-)
no but their mom and dad were wonderful to my mom
often invited her to their ranch near Provo
nice...always great to hear about families sharing good stuff
:-)
they took her to the opening of Sundance -- she got to meet Robert Redford -- swooned for weeks! :-)
i have a pic of them shaking hands :-)

YAAAAA!!! TLC has cancelled honey-boo-boo!!
Yes, that show finally got too low class for TLC
Might almost be safe to get cable back again. Boo-boo is gone, John and Kate is gone, just need to get right of Toddlers and Tiaras
Not so fast. John is gone but Kate and her litter will be back
ugh.. got tired of seeing her props.. err i mean her litter.. err I mean her children being sold to network tv
I didn't know until I read the story about Honey Boo Boo being canned that the mother has 4 kids, all by different fathers. What a family values show!
toddlers and tiaras really burns me.. a lovely program where mummies and daddies prostetot their young girls for cash and prizes...
ok rant over..:)
I never knew what language honey-boo-boo and clan were speaking anyways...
TLC is the whore your kids for profit channel. Toddlers, The Duggars, The Gosslins, The Honey Boo Boo people

peri, how some men apply shaving cream to their face
I think we are getting confused between la6 and sl8
molly, I dont think so.
peri, Put a consonant in front of la6
My bad then. To me, la6 is the shaving cream one.
the dict. on my computer has died a long time ago. going to look it up in a real one. *gasp*
I guess it depends on how you shave : D
Really Annie? The little ? next to the words don't take you to the definitions?
Not anymore. My computer freezes and then I have a problem.
Okay, the sl7 means to spread lavishly.
Oh my, that is BIG computer problems
I have other stuff going on too. When I sil comes over (maybe next week) perhaps, he can fix it for me
*my
But as long as I can bring up Babble I am happy
That would be nice. Good that you have someone who can help.
Im in Brooklyn and they are in CT so we do not see each as often as I would like.
Doug (sil) brought his laptop over a few years ago and hooked it up to my computer to start it working again.
Molly, I bet you can fix all the problems on my computer. Come over..I'll make lunch.
Oh I can fix some but when it comes to the inner workings of a computer, I defer to my computer expert guy. But lunch would be good. I'll bring him along. : D
I would love 30 minutes with your congested computer. I love bringing them back to life
:). Lunch for 3 or 4.
Annie, who are you rooting for in the Series?
I just broke 100,000 junk ads blocked with the Ad-Block Pro plug-in:)
Kansas City
Molly, who are you rooting for?
Well, while still in mourning for the Orioles, I'm half heartedly rooting for San Francisco.
The Orioles almocst had it. Poor Buck Showalter. I like him.
Yes, Baltimore's theme song it often "Didn't We Almost Have It All"
:0
or :)
Time goes by so fast when you get older. When I was a kid, it seemed like two years from summer to Christmas. Now, baseball season is over in the blink of an eye.
Yes, I really know. A long baseball-less winter ahead. No cussing the Yankees..sigh
Im going to try and get into the city and see some Bway shows this winter. My friend is coming up from FL so we will take in some museums too.
I havent been to the Frick in years. It is calling me.
Enough out of me.
Time is like a "Pretty Pony"--Stephen King

i did some searches yesterday and some of the pages i went to gave me the same message
i dont know that i can update IE either since puter is still messed up
car?
Oh hi! Just got back! How are you?
the two easiest solutions are the ones you do not wish to do, MLF Make sure you at least run ccleaner and Malwarebytes and clean up your machine a bit. then we can look at the issue deeper if it still persists
then you can use the IE self-diagnostic program if needed
who are you on FB, crossy? I always forget the babblers names on FB..need to go back and find our FB page?
I am crosshair on fb
It is a Babble miracle...I have found all the E's!
3 more A's and I have conquered the vowels!!!!

Hello Everybody (or shall I say Anybody?) It's pretty quiet here today, I hope everyone is outside in glorious weather (as I should be too)
Hi Nef. I was outside in the glorious weather most of the day. Fresh air and sunshine is good for the soul.
It sure does, Molly. It is so gorgeous outside today here that it almost makes me cry. I love spring and fall in Minnesota!
hello dear friends....if anyone is out there :)
I love the time of year when I can have all windows open all the time. It's so nice to have fresh air in the house. I do open the windows during the high heat and horrible cold times of the year, but it's not as pleasant.
hello molly! That sounds very pleasant indeed.
Hi Trifi, I'm distracted by a show on PBS about women in the military, so missed you coming in
I was watching that too, nef! It came on right after a great show about the MI6...
MI5?
oh, it came on after a different show here
ok
Im waiting for mr wonderful....we are going out to a comedy show tonight. Not really something I have a lot of experience with, having only been to one or two in my life...looking forward to it though.
(I had to look up the title) "Finding Your Roots"
Ah, Valentine is now Mr. Wonderful
"Mr. WonderfuL?"" Something new? (I've been out of chog and off Babble for a bit due to too tired to play at the end of the day)
Valentine...mr. Wonderful...love of my life....all the same guy
he is still my valentine
♥♥♥♥
two years in january....can you believe that???:
LOL! I'm thrilled for you, Trifi! :-)
that's wonderful to hear.
I am pretty thrilled too
who would have thought it, eh?

Any plans yet for engagement announcements?
he keeps asking...I keep saying no.
any reason why you're saying No?
(besides the kids?)
terror? I don't believe in it anymore? I will lose my share of mr. hate's pension? The kids are all for it, btw...Primo wants to perform the ceremony, Secondo wants to plan the whole thing, and Tertiare wants to pick out all the clothes....
LOL! I'll accept the terror excuse…. the pension: is that a good excuse really?
If i want to eat when elderly, YES.
Trif, you don't have to get married to have a good, solid relationship with someone. And not losing the pension is a VERY good reason.
of 5/16 help please
It's good to hear the kids are for it; they want to see you happy too
he would give up his share of his ex wife's pension as well, and lose his health insurance, which he gets through her, as she works for a university and can keep him on her insurance until she gets married again...or he does
mom, not rarely, but of***
The kids originally wanted me to go lesbian, so we could get on Jerry Springer. Sorry kiddos.
Lots of good reasons not to get married. Lots of them.
Oooh, Trifii, I guess it's all complicated then.
Didn't your kids already get enough of that story with their father?
I would marry him in a second, if I could get over my terror.
hes amazing.
we are loosely discussing the living arrangements....maybe in the new year
stay tuned :)
thank yuou
I'm so glad you're happy, Trifi. You deserve some happiness in your life.
thanks. I am beyond grateful
You went through a lot of garbage I remember; it's so good to hear life is better now
wheee! I hear a car door! My heart still jumps, every single time.....how pathetic is that?
so happy for you, Trif
Not pathetic at all! Enjoy it! :-D
Hi Annie! How are you these days?
Oh dear
Hello Nef :) Im fine and you?
I'm fine too Annie. I'm resting today; I spent the past 3 days making costumes for my grandson and DH for a "Trunk or Treat" event at church last night. ANd my sewing machine died (I think the belt broke) just with 3 more feet to sew
sounds like fun. how old is your grandson now?
He's 5 now, in Kindergarten; and I walk him to school each morning (it's just 3 blocks away).
Wow, time does go by quickly.
But my son and grandson will be moving out next month or so. I'm happy for them but know I'll miss them (well, him especially!)
Oh that is good to hear Nef. I'm glad your son is getting his life back together.
Nef, Im glad to read that your son is getting on. All good.
Me too. his ex is getting very bizarre again though. She threatens suicide, and (even though it's terrible!) sometimes I just wish she'd follow through…. :-(
Oh dear, that's trouble. So sorry she is not doing well.
(I feel awful that I even think that; it looks terrible in print!)
That is not terrible Nef. Not considering the horror show she has put your family through.
Nef, It's good to get it out. Maybe it lifts the mental burden a little.
I really do want her to get well and get past all of her demons; but after a while it feels like she never will.
sorry, the phone. be back soon. Take care of yourself Nef. you're a good person.
Take care of yourself, Annie.
Some people never do, Nef. It's sad, but that is the truth. Please don't beat yourself up for having thoughts that life would be better without her in the picture. It is a natural feeling to have after all you have gone through.
Thanks for the support.
Change of subject to the grid: could I have some stats for the 8s and 9 letter words? I still have 2 big old Zeroes for words on those . Please and Thank you
HAH! Ask and you find one! I got the ha 8/50 now! :-)
And the 9 now!
hi nef....long time no see....
Hi pen. How are you these days? I've been very tired lately and needed more sleep.
ah...i am ok....nursing a sore forearm (getting PT) but otherwise ok...
Oh? What happened?
hi all
nothing particular, just started getting sore....nerve and some muscles were inflamed....and i am told that some of my forearm muscles are weaker than they should be...
hi
hi jmc. How are you today?
i find a heating pad my best friend when I am sore. . .
. . . that and aspirin
Pen, that sounds frustrating. Did you have an old injury that would cause that?
yes, but in my case, i have inflammation....use ice not heat...
I am okay. . . I got my first flu shot today. . .but they said i was too young to get a pneumonia shot
We must be the only two people left who take aspirin.
haha not true. . . my son takes aspirin too
no previous injury per se....it got worse when i played the recorder more this summer...hurts when i do bended arm things..
aspirin is still the best for inflammation IMHO
jmc, I have a heated massaging chair cushion and use it a lot. Can't take aspirin or Ibuprofen, so it's Tylenol for me
I recommend a bourbon on the rocks peng. . . you can use it for the cold and the numbing ;)
I know some cannot take it. . . but it is still a miracle drug for me. . .
yeah, right!....went to a Russian dinner last night and had some vodka and wine....
haha vodka on the rocks works too!!
LOL! Aspirin and ibuprofen are anti-inflammatory; tylenol doesn't do squat for that. But I'm trying some sour cherry juice and am now trying to grow some sour cherry trees because that is supposed to be good for anti-inflammatory
is the f an fo word?
ah....good to know....
yes...
really? never heard that. . . wonder if quinine helps then you have an excuse for gin and tonic
fo 6/27...
yes, jmc, of 6/27

actually right now i am studying chinese at GWU. . . my teacher is as cute as a button and clearly loves what she does. . .
Is she Chinese too? And what type of Chinese?
ah...i am taking chinese now, too, but at a much slower pace....not like a college course....
Mandarin since that is pretty much the only universal spoken chinese (my catonese friend visited canton only to find everyone there pretty much speaks madarin now)
She is from Beijing. . .
Th*** are some great web pages penq
I love the Chineasy page
Wow, so even Chinese is changing then….
its not a college course but is promoted by the Chinese government at colleges around the country. . .the Confucius Institute. . .

Are people REALLY going to we4 costumes or are they pranking to see who will actually do it?
Hello Babbler.
Hi jmc
Hi wht

*lights grill*
I think tgal was referring to the acorn meal
oooh you are right wht. . . .sorry tgal i can usually juggle three or four conversations. . . guess doing the grid is not the only thing that i am out of practice with. . .
And now it is ti4 for us all to ta4 in gr4 words
time is not in the grid molls. . . haha
i was just thinking that one could find a dozen words easily by just reading the asterisked words in chat... ;o)
the book was about a teenaged boy who lived on the mountain. . . .
yes the meal
Or the asterisked clues
neither is talk or grid
well it is true that the asterisks do give them away somewhat...but i is a rule follower. . . that's what makes me a good lawyer if not a good babbler. . . .
but me4 is.
ah but at least someone asked for those, lol....
of course you will note that i did not say i was a rule obeyer. . . i just follow them. . . .
dang. . . wht...any acorn me** in the pb?
Oh, you follow behind the rules and sweep up after them.
*looks in the larder*
*gets legaleasy broom ready*
yep that's me. . . .
ARGGGHHHH. . . .th** is in the grid too. . .
nbt and i will be leaving shortly from the PB
*Tries to quit laughing about lawyers being good rule followers : D
No offense to you, JMC. I'm sure you are.
Back. I am on call and got paged.
we are very very good at following rules. . .pretty much all of us. . . we follow the tiniest rules to the results we want. . .
bye scrabs and bye all. . . .off to go follow some more rules. . . .

(if anyone gives a * clue after all this .. ) :D
Always grateful for clues, in any format, but love cryptic clues
It is Saturday night and the chog is out in full silliness.
Live silly chog too :)
Love
i think there is a difference between giving an asterisked clue that is requested vs. asterisking discussion words when clues have not been requested....to me that is giving away words when no one has asked for them....
cryptic clues can be fun ( i also like them) but they are sometimes quite confusing to people...
people often don't look at the chat and just give a clue.. even when some players are just asking for stats
I love doing cryptic clues
yes, i hate that, too....
:)
I like giving free clues by placing grid words in the chat log.
and i like your clues, ru....but i admit that sometimes i need something more direct....i can always ask for more if i need it....
no one better than you on that scrabs
It is generous and kind.
only if people ask for them, imho.... ;o)
Upside down double hump letter + first vowel + sometimes vowel...cross letter + round vowel....upside down double hump letter + chair letter + cross letter
You and jaxx for free clues scrabs
well at least when those types of clues are given, someone has asked for help...
BRB, must scavenge for dinner.
Well I am being called to clean up some dishes. Happy Babbling all.
*slinking back to lurking mode*....
I'm okay with the Hump stuff molly :d
Yes pen, all clues are good when asked for
I had no doubt about that
wow .. am I THAT obvious ?
Hell no, you are the sweetie pie of Babble Chat.
not to everyone :D
And *blesses self* every clue is sacred

I feel like I'm watching a dinner show in the chat. I might have to tip the performers.
hi again, my friend dropped off 2 bags of food that her new diet won't let her eat. She is a very picky eater, single, and doesn't cook. So most of this food will go to the kids (we don't usually eat a lot of processed food normally)

Odes
I was hoping the food was a little better than it actually was
Odem
Odea
Doren will be back out I'm sure.. her son is out here now
Sorry
Tosca was ok, def not worth the hype
though the cocktails were phenom
hmmm I have heard good things about the food
have you been to Spec's next door?
the wine was off, had to send it back... a barbera, tasted skunky, and was slightly effervescent
refermenting
the food was good, just not great. honestly, liked Frascati better
though... the octopus may be the best octopus I have ever had
oh.. I like Frascati too
try La Balena in Carmel for Octopus
haven't been to spec's, but it is on my list from the last time you told me - literally, we have a list!
holy crap.. they have it going on
I have never had an effervescent barbera... the waitress tried to convince me that that was normal for a barbera. I told her no, have had lots, and it isn't typical
she agreed to take it back, we went with another
some can be lively.. but the skunky smell meant it is refermenting
waitresses are born liars when it comes to wine
how often does that happen, refermenting?
was it from Italy?
yes
A LOT
why?
comes from unclean wineries and probably some left over sugar in the wine and it wasn't sterile filtered
I had a waitress tell me a bottle that was badly corked the other night.. that it was the way it always smells and that musty smell was the oak.
Yuk! That sounds disgusting, ru
ah... ok. otherwise, the pasta dish was good, but pretty average. the interesting things seemed to be in the antipasto section (2 faves were the octopus and the grilled treviso)
Have you tried Flour and Water?
well, she was nice about it, but def initially tried to say it was normal. I just didn't like it
yes, LOVE flour + water
they do a nice job
have only done salads and pastas there, haven't tried their pizza
I tried Pizzeria Delfina the other day and liked that a lot too
yes, I think flour + water had better pasta by far than Tosca
Mmmm, Italian food!
you have to go to Tommasso's on Kearny.. just for fun
will check it out.. when we can get into it, we like to go to Tony's - really good
hi scrab
it is on the list, ru!
also want to check out Plin, the new Italian place, and Perbaco, an old one
Tell Pete to get off his butt and start taking you places :D
Perbacco is great.. especially the salumi plates
ha! we go out too much as it is... our waistlines are expanding
tell him he'd better come to our next dinner or we're all going to spend the WHOLE night talking about him without him being there :D

Are all of those restaurants in SF?
hi, all. It's been a challenging week. On tuesday, my former husband and his wife lost their 12 year old disabled son suddenly to cardiac arrest (natural causes, per the medical examiner's determination). A very sad week.
Oh, no. Very sad.
yes, scrab... you'll have to come visit... and bring your big pants
How terribly sad, Angelsong
so sorry, angel
(((Angel)))
I have a Gilroy, I think that is the name.
Gilroy?
for some reason, his death hit me hard
A child's death is very sad.
What was his disability, Angelsong? Did he have a heart condition too?
Angel, that's so sad
very hard to lose a child, not expected
Gilroy is south of San Jose, kje.
yes, the garlic capital of the US... guess I didn't understand, I have a Gilroy
he was born with some sort of brain damage that caused seizures, he was non verbal and had just learned to walk with support a couple of years ago. no known heart issues, but his seizure meds had damaged his organs.
Children with those problems are at risk for many complications.
I am so, so sorry. That poor child!
I am grateful he died at home in both his parents' arms. no machines, wires. tubes or machines. he touched his dad's face with both hands, closed his eyes and took his last breath.
what a beautiful, peaceful way to go!
A touching ending, though tragic.
very hard for his parents, though.
how nice you are still close with your ex to be supportive
I hope his family will find peace in that, Angelsong.
They will need ongoing bereavement support for many years.
Did someone mention Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world
Yes, my cousin moved there several years ago.
I don't think it's the garlic capital any more, but we stopped there once and the whole town reeked of garlic
they still call themselves the Garlic Capitol
they grow more artichokes than garlic though
I think more garlic is grown in China
that's galric... in chinese
Yes, that area is great for artichokes
At 184/98 I have done enough. See you tomorrow.
Castroville too

hi lbd. How are you doing today?
Sorry, was watching Doctor Who.
NP, lbd. Only Dr.Who needs total attention (for me & my house, at least)
I dont know if its the sound mix or just peter capsldi, i have a hard time understanding him
I thought it was just me! It does seem to be easier to understand him at the end of the episode, so maybe it is the accent?
I get frustrated trying to figure oit what he's said.
yeah, it might be easier to watch a whole season at once so you can tune in to his accent
and i thought it was just me. he has a strange scottish accent which i find almost incomprehensible. it is taking all the fun out of watching dr who.
I wonder if it's got closed captions yet?
th4's a thought. good one nef. oh, and hello to lbd and nef. *sigh* my manners are getting worse and worse.
SO far it's only those of us of "a certain age" that are complaining about it. My DH and I have problems, our son & grandson don't.
I'm just glad its not just me. I agree Rose tskes the fun out of watching the show whrn you need an interpreter
hi grannyrose.
Hiya Rose!
it bothers me when I'm always asking "what did he say?" and the younger people get upset!
wh4 is even stranger is MIL was scottish, and hubby finds him hard to understand too.
Hubz said close captioning probably in scottish
So, maybe it's just us older folks?
LOL! Wouldn't that be a Hoot, lvd? :-)
* giggle * lbd.
lbd (sorry, having trouble with spellcheck)
ahhh, peter capaldi is from glascow. MIL always said th4 they speak weirdly th5.
David tennant and matt smith are both scots, and easily understood. Maybe mr capalldi needs a speech therapist
LOL! that's hilarious, granny rose!
Well, he needs to enunciate!
I agree, lbd
At first I thought it was his voice pitch, but there are tomes he is understandable
Tomes--times
agreed, lbd. david and matt did speak very clearly. peter doesn't se4 to take the trouble to use his facial muscles and lips.
Yes, a mumbler
it's almost like he is muttering his lines.
I was going to blame it on his being older; but he isn't even my age so that isn't it.
Marble mouth
lol, snap lbd.
He need elocution lessons from 'enry 'iggins
Maybe he thinks that since he's a curmudgeon he should mutter?
I've only seen him in 1 1/2 episodes so far; but he sure seems grumpy to me
Well, he plays the curmudgeon well.
He's a darker character, for sure
sorry, i just realised my keyboard was in dire need of a clean. big dollops of fluff under the keys.
Oh no, monkey fluff
i don't think he is going to last more than one season. i'm sure the producers have been inundated with complaints.
But will that mean a 13th doctor?
yes. I keep hoping he'll lighten up a bit. Even the first Doctor Who started out grumpy but became funnier as time went on
probably..the show is going to lose it's rating if they don't replace him.
I really don't imagine that they'd stop doing Dr. Who shows when it's become so popular
I think that there wasn't supposed to be a 12th doctor, was there?
If not replace then at least get him a speech coach.
Very true, lbd. It does make you wonder why they chose him if he can't speak clearer
You're right Nef, about not having a 12th doctor, i think technically capaldi is number13 or 14 if you count the reincarnation of #10 and john hurt who played the warrior doctor.
Oh my. Now I'll have to go do some homework on the Doctors. You've lost me there...
I do have the Doctor Who Visual Dictionary right here now(It belongs to my 5 year old grandson though, not mine)
David tennent regroups with Rose and she "creates a second doctor from hos hand. But the second only has one heart
Cool book!
hello lal
or all
I don't think I've ever seen the 8th Doctor; and I'm not seeing anything here about the warrior doctor….
Hi stid, just getting teady to log off, been a long day.
whoot!! {{hugs}} stiddy
Hi stid! How are you?
(((LBD))) sorry I missed visiting with you. Hope tomorrow will be a little better.
the 8th doctor was fun...
Sylvester McCoy, I think...
oh no -- Sylvester was #7. Paul McGann played the Doctor for a New Year's special in the states. He's #8
Warrior doctor played by john hurt in the last show with matt smith, it was the 50th anniversary or close to it. And on that thought, sweet dreams my friends.
sweet dreams dear LBD
I'm very familiar with Dr.s 1 through 6; can't remember much of the 7th one, and nothing of the 8th; I've seen maybe 1 or2 episodes with the 9th doctor, and ALL of the 10th and 11th doctors (Ronald absolutely loves them!
sleep well, lbd. nice catching up with you
Niters, lbd. Sleepwell!
Oh! Just looked up who John Hurt is; and I remember seeing him in that 50th Anniversary episode and wondered if he was going to be the next Doctor.
McGann was only doctor for one TV movie, not a series like the others. If you missed that show, you missed him. :-)
LOL! It's pretty funny that so many of us are Dr. Who fans.
true, although I think highly intelligent people tend to be interested in many obscure things...
Well, Thank You for the implied compliment, stid! :-D
must be slipping... meant for it to be overt!
LOL
well th4 puts me out of the picture then....lol....brain shrinking.
ha! NBT and halfway without a list... but I am tired. It is stormy here and I spent most of today NOT doing school things... LOL
silly GR!
*giggle* did you get my suggestion of vitamin e cream and a stress ball for your son?
Stid, you need to have somedays off (as far as school) because if you don't you'll burn out too soon
Also, Grant update -- his tendons were repaired, but there seems to be some adhesion. So he is supposed to go to work (light duty) on Monday, but I have asked him to call the doc on his break Monday and find out how the adhesions will be addressed...
Missed the stress ball suggestion!
I DO take days off (also evenings) -- I go in early as a morning person I get a LOT done before school. Then I stay as late as I need to be ready for the next day (only about one extra hour nowadays).
There are actually some balls for PT that come in different amounts of softness. A stress ball will help
he needs to move that hand to prevent adhesions
it is a very good form of physio for the hands. easy to do, any wh5, any time
Then once I am home I rest, and most weekends now I don't spend much time at all. But I am gearing up for what I hope will be a fun unit for the kiddos starting week after next, so that is what tomorrow is for.
Too late to prevent adhesions... :-( they are there.
I will find something for him, tomorrow I have to do some shopping anyway.
the massage with the cream will help. they can be broken down th4 way, plus the exercise. it all helps.
They can be stretched though.
and don't forget th5 will still be some swelling in the soft tissues around the scar and inside.
Okay, I can get vit E cream ... actually have some lanolin ointment that has vitamin E, so maybe can use that for now.
I went and looked to see if I had the original packing for my balls; I have a very soft yellow and (I think) a red one, but I can't find my 2nd ball right now. Doing the continuous exercises (for hands) will stretch them
brb
of course, stid.
found a very soft toy he can squish for now, and the ointment. :-D I feel better, just having a little something I can do for him.
i wonder if the lanolin might not make it a little 'sticky' to rub in.
I had my hand surgery 2 years ago next month and I still have swelling and tenderness (I have arthritis in my hands and the joints are bad). If I don't work my hands every day then the adhesions start up again.
Thank you for your advice! Since I haven't been going to doctor appointments, I don't have the ability to ask and remember answers to questions.
Tell Grant to ask for PT so he learns what and how to exercise his hands
OH, the wind is AWFUL tonight! I hope our power doesn't go out... we have the generator ready to go, but no spigots for the propane yet. Have to call the gas plumber and get those installed!
wh4 sort of light duties are they going to give him?
We are pushing him to get PT. He needs to take care of things now, so he doesn't impact his musicianship...
Where is his injury and how bad are the adhesions?
I have no idea, GR -- he works construction and doesn't have doctor permission to actually use that hand to work yet...
poor stid. you have so much happening around you.
He sliced open the back of one hand, cutting into a couple extensor tendons a month ago, Nef - surgery four days later to tie them back together...
what instrument does he play?
i keep forgetting to ask...was it his dominant hand he injured?
(hopefully not, GR)
He was actually cleared for "light duty" a week after the accident, but the company didn't call him to come work until for the coming week. And yes, his dominant hand, but since he is coping really well I suspect he may have latent ambidextrousness (I am ambidextrous, only mild dominance on one side)
Hi Stid (and everyone)!
He plays the guitar, tuba and trombone; used to play the fiddle... was starting to pick up the piano before the fire, and still wants to pick it up once we can get a new piano.
NRK!!!! **bounce bounce**
Why did they delay surgery? Too much contamination?
Hi nrkii!
Quick note on hands... when I dislocated and fractured a finger, I had to go to PT/OT. One of the key lessons for me was to study what I could do with that finger with my OTHER hand, and work myself towards the goal of doing exactly the same with the injured one. It helped me when I wasn't actually in PT to look at it that way. Need to hit same range of motion, same extension, same movement, etc.
g'day nrkii
No, I think it was a combination of not being sure how much damage had really been done and having to arrange with labor and industries for the gov't insurance to pay for it all.
Great idea, nrkii.
good idea NRK -- he is scheduled for PT once the doc approves, I think.
I cannot believe it's only 8:30 here. I feel as if it's midnight. Might go soak in my tub (haven't done that for a couple weeks) and pretend I am a princess getting ready to go to the ball....
It took a while, but I got back about 95% of what I had. The only thing is I am still (11 years later) not quite able to straighten that finger. But it can DO what it is supposed to do. Every other range of motion target was met. And the stress balls and silly putty helped a lot.
Silly putty is way more fun though.
That's great news, NRK -- I hope he can regain full function because he is a brilliant musician.
That might take a lot of silly putty though
Get some clay or putty in addition to the stress ball. It allows you to do more different kinds of motion. Stress ball is good, but not as adaptable.
Nothing wrong with a lot of silly putty. I love silly putty. :)
btw -- tailgate??? candy for 650??? you are REALLY gearing up for Friday! LOL
I have some playdough stashed... brb
if it's real play dough and you've had it stashed for a while; it may be too dry. You can make some at home that doesn't dry out
Halloween on a Friday. In this town. Last time it was on a Friday we had over 600, so I am just hoping I don't run out!
Thank goodness for Walmart (or Target, depending on the year) and affordable large bags of candy.
Well, it isn't very cheap this year, is it? My son bought 2 big bags of candy yesterday for the "Trunk or Treat" at church ; maybe 400 pieces or so, and it cost $35.00
Okay, the playdough is some I bought last year as "prizes" for the middle schoolers -- still good! Little mini tubs. :-)
Halloween hasn't been that big here the last several years (I think the malls have really encouraged kids to come to their programs and trick or treating here so the neighborhoods are pretty quiet on Halloween)
I also located a couple other things that I had stashed... hand puppets! :-)
Oh my! I bought over 2,000 pieces of candy today. Came to $120, which works out to less than 20-cents per kid with each kid getting 3 small pieces. I can live with that. Not cheap, but nothing like what some of my neighbors spend.
evening all :)
Wow, Nrkii! You do go crazy in your town then!
PINI!!!!! *cups runneth over and spills all over living room floor*
Yay for playdough. Between that, the stress ball, and studying the good hand to set goals for the bad hand, Grant will be well on his way I hope!!
WOW...that's a lot...I only buy what I can carry on my walk with my dog (we go "Reverse Trick-or-Treating"
STID!!!
stid, that sounds great! will Grant try and use both the play dough and the puppets?
Hi pini!
Oh, Stid...I have news for you!!! :)
Nef, we get people bussing in from neighboring towns. It's a madhouse here. I love it.
hiya nef :)
I don't "do" Halloween -- will have a harvest party on friday for my students, play games, do art and eat some yummy food. Other than that... they have quite enough excitement! LOL
yes pini??? you are rich and giving me a new car????? *hopeful little sister look*
LOL!!!
Well, I'd like to, Stid, but, well, that's not it.... sorry! :(
oh well -- what news?
Good news...another Camo Kid is on the way! :)
*looks under sofa cushions for pennies for car...*

Don't know the gender yet, Stid...calm down for now! :)

...and Nrkii :)

*blush* Nah...I'm just normal :)
Well, you can go ahead and get the glitter out, but you might need to throw in some blues :)
