welcome
fun week (sarcasm); new house is being built next to us; power company came to run lines for them; they cut our cable and "forgot" to tell anyone - we had not TVs and no internet. Cable guy "forget" to come fix the cut; finally everyone remembered to do their jobs, and we were reconnected. Then the a/c died; house got hotter than a fritter. Temporary fix finally, but next week we will be the proud owners of a brand new a/c system... New a/c comes on top of a bunch of landscaping, which of course cost more than originally estimated. Geesh!! Too bad the diggers didn't find an oil well in our yard LOL

Indeed they are - thank you!!
Hi again.
I hate it when I open the list and discover I've missed plurals and the like
hi Sukee
Hallo
BBL
hi sukee, how are you feeling?
hello everyone
So so, I ran low on pain killers and was awake from about 12 in pain. Today I'm picking up the new ones from my family doctor, they said these ones will help me sleep and to get some Advil.
The rash has not spread much and the doctor doesn't think it will spread more. Just looking forward to when the blister on my back breaks...
YOu will get some relief from the painkillers. Shingles are the pits.
I swear every time I go to that pharmacy they have to order something in. I spend a lot of money going back on forth.
I'm sick of it already and I'm had the rash for 4 days...
I've
It will go away. I know it is hard to live with.
I refuse to wear a bra since the worst is around the bra line. I don't care if it looks bad :)
Getting out today, not going to work out but meet with the people I have coffee with. Good news is the doctor says there is no chance it will spread to my face because of where it is.
sukee, I couldnt wear a bra when I had shingles. Even the blouse hurt but it will eventually get better. Enjoy your coffee klatch, it will help to get out.
And I was shocked when the first drug was unavailable to me that the doctor phoned me directly to tell me about the other one. It's hard to talk to him usually :)
My doctor is the same but with shingles he stepped right up. He walked out of the room and called the drugstore. I was sort of shocked.
I guess they understand how painful it is.
Yes, they do. Hang in there, kid
On the other hand, the doctor in emergency did not have much of a bedside manner. But I guess they are overworked there :)
Thanks, knowing I have support helps :)
ER doctor knew what is was so he wasnt a total loss.
And he was the one who told me to start the treatments as soon as I got the drugs.
so he knew. It is awful to go through but, remember, it will go away.
Thankfully my drugs are all covered, I have spent a small fortune on cab fares lately. A friend would have driven me but she might be pregnant and we don't want to take any chances.
Yep, hopefully by next month it will be a distant memory.
So how are you doing anyway?
Im okay. Thanks.
Anyway, I have to run. Thanks for letting me bend your ear.
Anytime. Go forth and have fun.
Have a great day.
YOu too.
Good morning

I have four left...three Us and one N and I'm struggling now
Do you know the stats?
I do - UR5/12 (the first one), UR6/21, UR7/32 and NE6/18
(the second NE6/18)
ne 6/18 is an extension of the NE 4/4 ....
Whoops, that may not be the right one...I see now there are 3 of them.
I have the NE6/18 that is more close, and the last one which is a plural. It's the middle one I need, after the element (or type of light)
That first UR5/12 is bugging me, because it should be easy - I know the first three letters but I've monkeyed like mad and still not run across it
ur and three vowels
right in order
Thanks Car - it must be the sole combo I didn't try...
add another vowel to the end of the third UR 5/12 for the UR 6/21
NE6 is the worm...
nematode?
NE + re4
Yeah, I know that's not it, and I've seen the other worm before but I forget what it is
That's the N down - Now the two Us...
i clued the UR 6/221
6/21
All I need now is the UR7 - thanks all so far!!
:)
:-)

Can anyone help with the UR7 then I can leave you guys in peace?

hardee har har...

bye Kallia, hagd
bye kallia :)
and back. everyone is still in the correct pens :)
good to hear!
do you have names for all of them? and is pen hopping a normal thing? lusty chickens...
and ba7 is a comparative of a big building that holds farm animals
no, they have collective names "the hens" and "the damn coyotes" currently.
any hints on the sa 7 words? do they end in the comparative maybe?
the chickens are prone to getting out, mostly due to the insane destructiveness of rabbits on fencelines, but they come home. it's the 'yotes i'm worried about, because they'd potentially eat everyone else.
naughty 'yotes.. but smart... they know where the all you can eat buffet is located...
don't have any sa7 so far, sorry
that's okay, just thought I'd ask... not quite half way here...
hello....
hi pen :)

Whether you close down, or not, you should retain your words if you refresh before leaving the game. If you don't refresh, chances are you will lose words from your list. That is what happens to me anyway.
horrible day, but may have made some progress with the fisc. We'll see. I see a possible pathway IF I have enough energy. And three agets are always io sweet and say things like "Ill pray for you" and stuff ( that's when I break down, usually) AND dh IS ACTING CRAZIER AND CRAZIER
"THEIR AGENTS ARE ALWAYS SO SWEET\*

sorry. My oncologist says "Off with his head" and his doctor, although sympathetic with me, thinks it would be too difficult to get him into a hme specuializing in Alzheimer's patientws
Ruby, his doctor has been flat out wrong for a long time. It's time for YOU to start making decisions.
It
It is always difficult to get someone situated in a home for Alzheimer's patients. That doesn't mean it isn't necessary.
I agree with Molly. You may have to have another assessment and a new doctor because it sounds like your health is at risk now.
no. my breast cancer came back after 25 years in my sternum and ribs and is inoperable but maybe can be treated as a chronic disease. Meanwhile, I AM STILL LOSING WEIGHT.
do you have respite care where you are? It sounds like you need it
He is not able to care for himself, and you are not able to care for him. He needs to be somewhere else.
pART OF THE PROBLEM MAY BE THAT THIS ISN'T A BIG CITY AND NOT ALL OF THE NURSING HOMES TAKE THOSE SICK PATENTS
I AM STARTING TO GET MORE AND MORE WORKERS HERE, WHICH IS VERY HELPFUL BUT NOT QUITE HELPFUL ENOUGH.
mAYBE TOMORROW WILL BE ETTER
Oh Ruby, you can't go Scarlett O'Hara about this. Alzheimer's doesn't get better. It gets worse. Sorry, but that is the truth.
You may need to get a break from him. Respite care has caregivers come in so you can leave and get away from the stress at times like this
One of these times, when he follows me up and down the (MANY) stairs, he'll fall and break something and then, once hospitalized, I think things will go faster. \The speed of this last month's deterioration has been incredible.
I need to go right now (I hasve an appointment in 15 minutes) but please look in to respite care and get away from there; even for just a day or two so you can rest.
Molly, you've been right from the start, I just staed in denial too long.
I don't think they even have hospice care here.
((((rubyfoo)))) I'm sorry I have to leave right now. Please be kind ot yourself.
It is easy to stay in denial about something like this Ruby. I know my Mom did. As for what Nef suggested, I'm not sure you can "get away" and "rest somewhere" given your situation. You need to place him somewhere, and soon.
(I'll check back later this evening)
you women have no idea how much your support and advice mean to me! It really helps to be able to talk about it in Emglish;
It would be a very sad ending to this story to wait until he falls and breaks something to get him in a place that can care for him.
I'm afraid that all endings will be sad, no matter what. It is a question of who will suffer the most. I must sound very cold-hearted but I am more concerned with me, than with him. And he's pretty scary sometimes as he['s still much stronger
It would be sadder if he hurtsme.
Ruby, I think you are at the point where you have to insist on someplace taking him. Even if it means spending a little bit more money. Like I said before, it's beyond the point where he can take care of himself or you can take care of him.
I've said enough about this. Ruby, you remain in my good thoughts and prayers.
His doctor was supposed to come this afternoon, but didn'tshow upl. He's supposed to help me with that
Molly, I appreciate your concern and know that you have my interests at heart. You are very smart and very dear to me ( but tihout all the mushy stuff....)
If you are good at paperwork,i'LL SEND YOU A TICKET.....
GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY, I;m crashing....
good night, ruby.
Greetings, worldly neighbors!
hi judi
Just reading back in chat a bit. Poor Ruby. What a horrible situation.
Hard to believe that France doesn't have something akin to Hospice care. Then again... stranger things go on in the so called modern world.
It is a horrible situation. It reminds me to be grateful that my sister and I could step in and help when things got bad for my parents when they were in a similar set of circumstances.
may be a case of location, judi. ruby lives in a small village.
This is not a situation that calls for hospice. Hospice is for the dying. This situation requires that her husband be placed in nursing care. I find it hard to believe that there are not such facilities in France.
Even so, TO - I would like to think there would be some sort of local or parliamentary government agency that could assist in such a case.
France is not a third world country. There are a lot of affluent, elderly people who live there. I'm sure there are the proper facilities for such care.
Yes, you are correct Molly. There must at least be mental health institutions that take in long term patients (even if they are alzheimer's patients).
She needs someone to help her find the right setting for him. Surely there is some in local government or something that could help. aretn
there must be something like social workers or case workers. it is just to locate where they are
I would hope that Ruby would emphasise that she is in fear of being assaulted by him.
The problem is that Ruby has gotten beyond the point where she can deal with this herself and she has no one to help her.
The fact that she is dealing with her own serious illness now should also weigh heavily in determining where to place her husband.
why can;t her doctor recommend an agency of some sort. maybe she can contact the closest hospital and ask them for names of facilities.
As far as getting her husband committed to a facility I mean.
All these suggestions would have been great back when Ruby was in better health. Now, I think she feels like she can't manage anything anymore. It's a sad situation.
very sad
That's it. We're invading France! Where's my translation app and my sword?
We will need some steel-toed boots for ass kicking too.
We'll kidnap Jerry Lewis and hold him for ransom. That should raise considerable euros.
Well Jusi, if you really want to get to the French, you need to cut off their wine supply. That will make them sit up and take notice.
We shall dump all of their grapes into the sea!
It will be like The Boston Tea Party, only on foreign soil
We shall shatter their wine bottles and storm the Bastille!
LET THEM EAT CAKE!!!
Hell no! We'll eat their cake and make them watch.
Oh wait, we have to LET THEM EAT ROYALES WITH CHEESE
Yeah, just like in Pulp Fiction!
People make great sport of poking fun of the American health care system in this forum. Truth be told, the Canadian and European health care systems are not much better.
For all of the flaws, I still believe the USA has the finest doctors and most modern technology available to patients.
Stomach growling. Need hubby to get home from walking the dog so we can go get some food.
Well, considering the fact that so many foreign med students come here to get their degrees, I agree with you Judi.
And then we have to try to decipher what they are saying when we meet those foreign doctors when we visit the emergency room or walk-in clinic.
Herrow, Mizz Morry. What seems to be the probrem today?
the trouble is there is a triangle of tension in health care. there are three things we want from it: quality/advanced treatments, low cost, and access. these things are in tension with each other, much like temperature, pressure, and volume in physics. so while we have high quality for those who can get it, we do not have low cost (we pay more for the same things) and we do not have nearly the access that many have in europe. so it all depends what you value.
(nothing that my british flag is aspirational rather than actual - my "we" refers to the US)
ugh, *noting
Ah yes. The royal "we".
Oh yes Hursh, good points. But again, it's the conflict of cost and quality of care. Why say your health care is "free" when you are getting raped in absurdly high taxes to pay for it? And then have to wait ridiculously long periods of time to be seen by specialists.
All good points, by the way, Hurshy.
When they wrote the Hippocratic Oath, they certainly didn't include "do no harm to the patient's wallet".
Now, I think it's "First, do no harm to YOUR wallet"
my dad was able to access a certain level of care when he had an aortic dissection. i don't know how expensive it was, the insurance paid for it. i am glad he is still with us. but if i were making decisions and i had to choose between a basic level of preventative care for a room full of strangers, vs this operation for my dad, i would have to go with the room full of strangers.
Ruby, you're right about the cancer being treated as a chronic disease. I have been having quarterly treatments for several years now.
but then, i'm very fond of statistics...
lol, Hurshy. Could have sw5 you were channelling Rain Man.
Well, I could never choose a room full of strangers over my Dad, but that's just me.
eras
Hi, Sally. I think Ruby signed off a while ago.
i actually haven't seen rain man
hard to go back now that tom cruise is so wacko
Rain Man is worth it for Dustin Hoffman's performance
Damn good movie. Give it a go. I know what you mean about Tom Cruise. Although, he's more realistic in his movies than in real life. We just saw Mission Impossible 5.
Cruise's character in that movie is kind of an asshole, so it was type casting.
Dustin Hoffman is amazing in that movie.
what a sad thing to have someone say about you - that you're more realistic in movies than in real life!
It is sad, but true. He's a walking freak show.
i kind of have trouble watching movies
With all due respect to normal freaks (and you know who you are).
i'm like, you want me to make a TWO HOUR commitment to this ONE THING?! what if it's boring?
So many freak shows, so little time
heh heh. Gotta go get some food. See y'all tomorrow! *POOF*
Well, thanks to web streaming, you no longer have to make a commitment to any movie you don't like.
evening all!
hwllo...

ok...i had ONE maragrita with dinner! ... ;o)
**Cheap date**

Happy Birthday, penquis!!

Well then, a Very Merry Unbirthday to you!

It's my Unbirthday too! is it yours as well, zooz and molly?
It sure is!
it is mine too :)
Drinking out has gotten way too expensive. We are all bound to become closet, home bound drunks.
happy unbirthday to all!
*Clink* Cheers to all our unbirthdays!
the margarita was $6.50....i didn't think that was bad....and it was good!
*Opens up the PB bar and puts up balloons and streamers*
Unbirthday party all around!
*brings ice cream to share*
I will bring the Gin and tonic
and some hummus and crackers
love a good ice cream!
the key word is good re ice cream
I will bring a bottle of vintage bollinger and my elephant trick!
A decent bottle of tequila will run you 30 bucks. Do the math. $6.50 for a margarita is spending a lot more than you have to.
drinks are way too much in bars and restaurants. I will stick to my G&T at home
I only have drinks out if somone else is paying
Oh whoa, watch out ladies. Zoom is getting his elephant out. : P

I'm with you, Peri. I'll run up a big bar tab on someone else's dime.
I thought AW 4/8 & AW 5/18 was an Acronym.
