That was already done at the place we bought - including foundation plants - because they had had a drainage problem that needed to be repaired. We left the rocks, but the first thing we did was plant some carpet juniper and a couple of shrubs next to the house. Eventially the juniper will cover the rocks and give us some green -- also will have a cooling effect in summer. The juniper doesn't need much water either which is a plus.

I do have a brick planter up near the house that I planted with salvias. And I have some crepe myrtles and a Japanese maple.

The Japanese maple grew to twice the size it was supposed to be. Have to machete my way in and out of the car.
I don't like the shrub juniper -- it doesn't age well. This stuff is a blue-green colour. maximum height of 6" and a spread of 15'
Japanese maple is expensive, but very pretty.
I had to take out some juniper once and I will hates it forever (to quote Gollum)

I've been to Canada a few times. Toronto was unbelievably clean. I had the best turkey in my life at a Chinese Canadian restaurant in the middle of nowhere, so moist, so fresh, so turkey-tasting. Canadians were incredibly polite, except for the French speakers in Montreal, who brought me to the verge of tears. Luckily, while my mother was risking her life every day during WWII, being a courier, she spent a great deal of time in France & French was one of her 6 languages. So between us, a great time was had on all 3 visits to Canada. I have nothing but admiration for Canadians. They produce the best hockey players.

Re Kate's shoulder injury - I found ice made my worse and heat helped more. I also got a portable TENS machine which helped enormously with the pain.

i think it probably did, i just really disliked the feeling. had it when i had PT for my shoulder. i had them turn it to the lowest setting. i've not heard anyone else say they don't like it though, i'm in the minority i believe!

I love my TENS machine - there are lots of different settings and you can vary the intensity of each setting.

You must never use a TEN machine over a bone - that causes swelling and discomfort. But the instructions do tell you where to place the pads for relief in varous places.

When I broke my knee in Sept. I was pescribed Oxycodone-- was horrible-- no sleep, constipation & even hallucinations! BF's sister got me some MJ gummies & they worked great! No pain + pleasant buzz-- also slept fine..

But, as with every other item made not to last these days, profit is king and b*gger the future. :(

I've heard that physical addiction can occur after only 3 days' use..
libarebel - Co codamol is probably the equivalent in the UK and I was prescribed a high dose of that to take along with Paracetemol after a couple of operations. The constipation it caused was worse than the pain it was supposed to ease... and so I stopped taking it and put up with the post-op pain.

if you have to take this stuff...eat a tbsp of oil...your choice with each dose. (greasy potato chips work too)
I have had "oxys" only once in my life. They were prescribed to me when they opened up my ankle to remove a bunch of bone spurs. At the time I had never even heard of this family of drugs. they were, without a doubt, the strongest painkillers that I have ever had in my life in tablet form, and it was a good thing there were not many repeats on it!
