Most stores have closed because of too few customers but there are still too many idiots out there still. Parents are even taking their children to playgrounds that have been closed!

Hi Bea, how goes the socially isolated life?
Good morning, Molly. I'm trying to figure out how to answer that...
I have to get out today. Larry wants to go out as well, but I won't let him. It is his 73rd birthday today.
"On the bright side, I am no longer calling this shelter-in-place. I am now an artist-in-residence."
My grandbabies back in KS have been in contact with a person who was in contact with a positive case. They will stay home with dad and my daughter, who is a nurse will continue to go to work. That is messed up. My anxiet level went from low to extreme in about 5 seconds.
understandable, bea - and same here
I'm sorry to hear that Bea. Prayers out that your family stays healthy.
That is a good way to look at it, dan. How are your ladies holding up?
prayers for your family, and all those nurses and doctors bracing for the surge. we are fortunate and well so far.
Thanks, Molly and welki. I'm just going to continue to pray and keep busy.
my oldest is a nurse and her husband a paramedic. they let their oldest daughter go outside to talk to her friends (from a safe distance) - the kids taunted her, saying that she was 'crazy' and her parents 'overprotective' - and they are children of medical professionals :(
(the grand-daughter is 10)
How sad, welki.
I have a local sister-in-law in chemo, so we have had practice at sterilization and social distancing - we're worried about her access to hospital services and of course opportunistic anything, not just covid
yeah - some "friends"
There is so much disregard for this serious situation. We were at the lake yesterday and I saw a mother of four letting all of her kids play on the exercise equipment with no gloves, no sanitizing.
Yes, dan, she is at such risk.
i guess it really won't 'hit home' with some people until it actually does hit home - and that's the pits
okay, down to 5 or less on each tile - time to go downstairs to work :-)
but, as you said, dan, she's already on board with knowing how to insulate herself from the outside - i hope she gets through her chemo with no issue
It will soon be time for the snowbirds to go home. That will put a big spike in the curve.
Anyone want to know what it’s like having the virus (mildly)?
I've read an article by a 30 something nurse and it was horrendous.
Did you contract the virus, girl?
I’m down with it at present and even not having it very badly isn’t pleasant
Dear persons who know Miss Anton Nancy, I am Nadia Abrail. I know Nancy.. I 've worked for Nancy and she was a great friend of mine. It' s with so much regrets and a a big sadness I have to announce you a bad news: Miss Anton Nancy died. It' s terrible for me to tell you this while I know you're far away from France. I don't know what to add except to be strong in this situation. Be brave and take care of you I don ‘ speak English but i use google translation …

Started with a tight chest and tickly cough for a couple of days, then a sore throat andsome diarrhoea. Just seen the message about ruby, so won’t continue.
Thank you for letting us know, Nadia. And thank you for taking such good care of our dear Ruby.
I am so so sorry to hear about ruby

So sorry. She came across as such a nice person
That's so kind of her to share the information with us. Rest in peace Ruby.
I am glad she is no longer in pain.
... Couldn't find her candy store in New York. Will have to visit RubyFoo's in Montre
Bless her soul. She was a great friend
Absolutely devastated to hear this news. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
Very sad to hear about our Ruby. She will be missed.
... Will have to visit RubyFoo's in Montreal this summer. It's a landmark chinese restaurant near where I lived in Montreal as a kid. I couldn't get to Annecy to visit when I was in Paris last year. Maybe we met over Chinese food when her husband was teaching at McGill.
hello this is nadia nancy did not suffer she died of natural death it was her time . Desoler jene speaks English and I use google translation to translate. But to know that she told me a lot about getting games and that you were like a family to her and it was my duty to prevent you
Oh, our dear Ruby. How she suffered. She is in peace now.
Thank you, Nadia. Who will care for her beloved dogs?
Thanks Nadia.
*hand over heart* God bless our Rubyfoo. May she rest in peace. She fought a very hard and painful battle.

anyone have any recommendations or preferences when it comes to a kindle reader?
I use a candian brand, a Kobo Aura Edition 2 reader. it is amazing!
does it allow you to read your amazon books?
I use an iPad mini with the Kindle app, which I really like. I also have the new Kindle tablet and honestly the iPad mini is much better. The Kindle feeds you ads constantly which is annoying.
ir9.60
Hi mlfan
Yes, I can read epub files, PDF, Mibo, and lit, and a few others I cannt remember
I really love my kindle paperwhite
wait like do the ads pop up in the middle of reading? should i pay for the without offers version?
mobi*
have used the app on my phone and iPad mini and it just doesn't compare IMO to the e-ink or whatever it's called
i have an ipad pro, very bad for reading. large and heavy
My Kbo, does not do ads, but if you want a Kindle specifically, I will leave the others who have that brand to advise you
The ads are on the lock screen and the home screen. They also recommend Amazon products everywhere, though not in the actual reading ap. The battery life is pretty bad too.
the ads are only like a screen saver when it's asleep, they do not bother you at all
The Paperwhite might be a better reading experience. I got the color tablet because I also read comics.
or they don't bother me
My battery life is $!! months when reading two hours a night at 40% brightness setting
oh that sounds like the ads wouldn't bother me then
4 months*
yeah, I'm my experience the battery life is amazing
Crosshair might have just sold me on the kobo haha
bex, I have read a few comics and read them on the iPad
My iPad mini is on it's last leg so I bought the Kindle because it was on sale to replace it. I have a few regrets lol
did you buy a kindle or a fire? for reading only the kindle is way better than a fire.
It's the Kindle Fire 4 tablet, not the Kindle Paperwhite. The Paperwhite have great battery life from what I've heard.
I had the Nook version of a the paperwhite before the iPad and that was pretty good too if you don't need to see color pictures.
yeah, I look at the fire as a poor replacement for iPad and bet you do have a few regrets ;)
Definitely! It only cost me $25 though so I can't complain too much!
I had an earlier Kindle before the Paperwhite and it did not have the backlight so you had to use a book light. The Paperwhite can literally be read in any lighting - in bed at night to super bright on the beach.
I think if you're a text only reader the Paperwhite would be the way to go.
The Kob Aura H2O, which is the premium version of my reader is also waterproof.
yeah, I'm not familiar with the one crossy recommended but out of the ways I've read e-books, I'd go kindle (not fire).
pretty sure my paperwhite is too. I upgraded mine when that came out so I could read in the pool and passed my old one on to my son.
The Kindle has come a long way from the days when they could not read Epub files, and they are a quality reader now, but they are still proprietary for the msot part--except for library books which are in Epub format.
I used to beta read for an author and she would send a file. can't rem. what kind it was, but yes. it is super easy to get and read books from amazon and a little trickier for other type files.
I go with Nooks and Kobos because of their open format, and I often get my ebooks from third party sources. :)
tire
ops
one thing is sure, I can't read printed books anymore :D
oops
I am saddened when I bring some of my favourite novels down from my bookcases, only to find that I cannot read the 6-point type anymore. :(
I set the type on my e-reader at 18-20 point and with the built-in lighting it makes reading a joy.
I just cleaned out some bookcases in Jan and saved quite a few that I think I'm still going to read but it probably won't happen
yeah, font size and lighting and holding a big book is keeping me from them
Hey, carla...

All my azaleas are in bloom, along with the pine pollen.
Here in upstate NY it's snowing.
sounds like we will be living under mathe war measures act if our citizens don't pay attention and stay at home. and guess what? -- the gardeners arrived as usual in our development this morning.
does anyone else subscribe to the NYT puzzles? Keeps me busy in this rainy isolation, and the article plus chat is friendly.
Its in the 40's, but a couple days ago hit 85.
... well his father called it and junior has been trying to live up to him since before he went into politics
i do the NYT puzzles but not the chat....
magpie .. it only snows in upstate ny this time of year because scrabs prays for it
yes we were in Mtl at the time, Dos. If people won't listen though it may be the only way to stop this thing
... she can have all of mine ... I don't need it ...
Oh, my magpie. It is dusky gray here, and raining. Solo walks are what keep me sane. Twice the weather was good enough for bike riding. I have a 45 minute ride that is my workout; I ride down into Cleveland's University Circle and back home. The change in elevation includes a 200 foot climb in a one mile stretch, and that's on the way home!
Grrr!

hi, penquis. I do the crossword, Spelling Bee, Letterboxed, and Set.

I'm glad my piano is still in tune enough. I would like to get it tuned, but I don't think house calls from piano tuners is allowed.
just got two musical words in a row (:
i do the crossword, spelling bee and sudoku daily.....i used to do set a lot but not recently.....tried letterboxed but wasn't hooked.....
is the tuner too keyed up to come over?
He will be flat broke without service calls
Hah! No. But for a two hour visit from my son about 10 days ago, nobody's been in my home or car for two weeks now. I work in a middle school, aka a petri dish of tweenagers and teenagers, so I isolated early.
Oh, that was sharp, Molly. Naturally, I expect this from Babblers.
Ivory lee enjoyed the piano puns.
usually we just string along the puns.. but not today
It's OK. We all need a sounding board. Some are sounding bored. . .

Thank you MLFAN. I'm older, and also understand the "flatten the curve" reasoning for social distancing.

It is very dangerous in times like these to spread around "opinion" vs fact. People are tense and easily set off. Unless you are sure of the facts in your information, it is better off not put out for the public. This is how hysteria starts.
bichon not finding that one either sorry
we ll give opinions about these types of things as I said I didn't write it.
people who think, probably correctly, that they are not vulnerable are the very ones who are passing the virus on to those who are vulnerable - not everyone carrying the virus displays symptoms. People who won't stay home are the very reason our prime minister is threatening to invoke the war measures act. Everyone needs to think about what they are doing -- our neighbour is keeping a safe distance, but he lets his dog off the leash and allows it to go running up to greet everyone.
staning on line for the store to open yesterday i saw this first hand.
old farts giingn their wrog opinions on everything. not all older peole are old farts, btw, so don't start.
bichon when a police officer puts a person in handcuffs but is not actually under arrest?

my school just gave me a brand new tablet. I went there to get it, brought it home, and I can't use it cause my school-issued laptop wants admin privileges to install the (*&$#*$&# drivers
I was so excited to use it for virtual whiteboard
oh.. finally found that de 7
is it a real word?
yup
it's kinda like a French locomotive
got it, thx
it's how you leave destation

@harry - if there is an install program, go to the directory, right click the installer, and try "Run as administrator"
seems like it'd be hard to de7 someone. "you must forget what you learned!"
Fireworks here (finally monkeyed the ad5) anyone want clues before i head off?
well done
ty KT - it wants an admin login
Ok - then maybe they can remote into the LT and run it.
lol, I read that as "ruin it"
I hate the fact that end users are so paralyzed these days
yeah KT - it would be nice if they would return my email or even open the ticket I filed.
that's better than allowing users to downlad and install a virus that cripples the entire network
yes I understand the reasons. I just hate it.
many IT shops are overloaded right now since number of work at home users has dramatically increased

hi all. I found an se7/8/9. I think there is another se7/8 but I don't have it. help pls
when you arrange something in a particular order? ends in consumed food and pt for the 8
I need a clue for the se 7 8 9?
think about a type of knife, mlf
ch isn't that the 7/8?
no. you want the one with a double consonant.
same word just add another letter in the middle ?
se + double cons. + consumed food
I have that 0ne
great! now you can extend it for the 8 and 9
No niris here, but we're having quarantinis.

Wait, you can get a 9 from the type of knife (that's used to cut, say bread)? I have the 7 and the 8, but not the 9 from that...
Am I looking at the right word?
it's there, matty.... right after the past tense. same first 6 letters.

I was happy to see "liquor stores" on my state's list of "essential businesses". : D
i heard PA governor is considering reopening state stores.
I am happy to say that the liquor stores are open in California, also.
grocery trip today. paper goods still out. meat low, but then again, i went at 1PM. saw that local market is paying their employess a $2/hour bonus. Hiring, too.
they deserve it.

as is cvs
my husband went to our regular grocery and walmart today. no paper products or fresh meat
hokie either nothing came in oryour hubby didn't get there early enough
i have enough meat for a week or two, plus some frozen meat like barber stuffed chicken, and some fish i the freezer. i'm meatless twice a week, so should be fine for a while. had cookeis i hand but put them pack on the shelf.
he went last night and they said they were supposed to get some meat yesterday and it didn't come. supposedly they are getting more tomorrow. he bought a bunch of frozen chicken products. I think we have plenty for a while, but there are 2 teenage boys here.
talked to some of my guy firends and they are a bit frantic at low meat supply. for me, i am ok with PBJ, eggs, geilled cheese, pasta etc
carla: i hear that
I'm sitting here wondering two things: 1. what is so difficult to understand about "Stay at Home"? 2. Since when is booze an essential item?
yeah, we have PB, eggs, tuna pouches, etc. I've always been good at making do with what's here thanks to my upbringing but my husband has never been good at that or eating leftovers.
cyber because people don't necessarily want to sit indoors and talk to each other for too long a period of time lol
time to go. later, all. happy babbling
I think it's some fear of being stuck here for a while without food.
bye, TO
I sure can't find that ad5
food is an essential item, and if there is no way to order it on line and do a pick-up and there is nothing in the house to eat, then going to the grocery store is necessary. That being said social distancing at the store needs to be practised, masks and disposable gloves should be worn.
i don't have the ad5 either
is it from the laast column a?
yes
my last a
of course it is hokie lol
feels like I have put in every combo of 5 letters with 16 points possible
got it
found it hokie
good :D
:D
i am trying to find a simple er 4 ..
found it
ra 6/24 clue pls?
No one in the US is under quarantine. They are allowed essential trips for food, gas, banking needs, etc. Liquor is not "essential". It may serve to calm an already overly agitated public, however.
wow -- even those who are awaiting test results and have received positive results are allowed to go out? --- no wonder it is spreading so quickly!
ra6/24 uncommon thing. also a my little pony character, if you're into that
i saw on the news today, somewhere people decided to bring out there instruments and play for the neighbors. But you have to be a certain distance from people and a certain amount of people can only be near each other
cyber that's what i wonder
are you a brony, dan?
i remember them dan but neve rhad one
I am not, but miss2bit was into them for a while before pokemon
I think people that tested positive are under quarantine but I don't think a lot of testing has been done
ty dan
dan did she catch them all?
hehe. she SOOOOO badly wants a phone to play Pokemon Go and it is SOOOOO unfair that she doesn't have one
how old is she?
I think those who have symptoms and are awaiting tests or waiting to see if they get worse before consulting a help line or a doctor are just being selfish if they still go out in public.
4th grade. too young for her own
my boys and I played when it came out but then it got boring. will occasionally play when away from home.
nan, I agree with you on that. should definitely stay home if you have symptoms
de 7 clue please?
like maybe how tattoo on fantasy island would have said another form of transport
I forgot - pop culture ref don't work on you
locomotive
ty carla --- got it from the first clue -- did watch fantasy island way back when
It is my understanding that people can be asymptomatic and go around spreading this thing for days before their symptoms become apparent. I think THAT is how it spreads so quickly.
yay, nan!
hence the need for everyone to stay home unless going out is absolutely necessary
yes, I think that is the biggest part of the problem with this, molly
Well Nan, just like all those people who go to work when they are sick, you can't mandate common sense.
the big ir's were surprisingly hard for me to see
True -- only thing you can do is enforce it and if people don't comply voluntarily, it may come to that.
ri 6 please?
Every time I hear "social distancing" I laugh. Have you seen how close together people are in places like China and New York City? There is no way for people to be six feet apart at all times.
nan, kinda like a slur for down's syndrome
duh -- slow down musically speaking -- should have had that
we have it quite a bit here it seems
our neighbour has a son who works at the ministry of health - he has told his parents that 6 feet is still too close - should be 8 to 10 feet, also never go in someone else's house or eat food that you haven't prepared yourself until this is over.
back after lunch...
Well takout is still available so a lot of people are eating food they have not prepared.
wow, I have 6 ta words I can't find

Hello all - I see dear Ruby passed away - condolences to her family - her suffering is over - RIP
oh dear. farewell, ruby
it is snowing here
Back for the last 22...
hello bea
Hope you are doing well, hurshy.
i am as well as can be expected under the current conditions! :D
Yes, I know. It has been a really shitty day.
oh, has it? more so than the immediate past days?
hi again -- so sad about Ruby - we will miss her here.
oh maybe that is what makes today worse.
I just received an email from Nadia, who worked for Ruby, telling me that she has died. I had written to her early this morning but I don't know if she ever got it. Nadia urges us to be strong during this time. I have many pictures of her and the dogs and her home. I shall cherish them. She and I had many long talks and I will miss her terribly.
Yes, that is one of the things that makes today so rotten.
oh, i'm sorry peach. :( it is hard to lose a good friend.
Thanks, hurshy. I will try to come back later....
name that proper noun! he was "not a crook"

Congrats, nan.
any help wanted before I go for my daily walk?
What a wonderful tribute to Ruby on Facebook by her son
Thanks Peach. Nadia was here earlier and let us know. It was kind of her to contact Ruby's friends.
on my way -- stay safe :)
Ah, the one time I am sorry I don't do Facebook. Many here do not, so we will not get to see the tribute to Ruby. I'm glad her son did that.
stuckish here at 27
8 left here, had missed the potato ones of course
well off to do more work
gl hursh
So sad to wake up to the news about Ruby. Such a lovely person. She’ll be missed by many.
She was a bright light in a sometimes weary world, Liz. I agree, she will be missed.
ire
Knowing Rudy is at peace, at least for me, is great comfort...
Ruby
Ruby is in The Summerlands, with a drink in hand, dancing in her cute butterfly heels.
*Raising the parting glass in her honor
Sorry that Ruby is no longer in our Babbleland world. But, she has been a wonderful gift to us all. My love to all those in her family, everywhere.
to all who loved Ruby, my deepest sympathies. my heart is breaking. i do not like this Ruby sized hole in my life. xoxox
I am so sad. I don't do facebook either. Ruby will always be in my heart.
Glad I had a chance to send a note to ruby. It is good to know she is out of pain.. I will miss her emails. ......... Still looking for some people in particular (just like all the long-time babblers) Caught Ruru in the chat, sounded up and out; still looking for Sprite. ??
Friend in Berlin says neighbors and friends have all been coughing for at least a month. A couple had a bad bout - fever and such - for about two weeks and are now recovering. So people are following guidelines (what else? this is Germany) but staying cool, not sniping at others, self-isolating comfortably and waiting it out.
Ruby is one of the best people I met her in this word game/chat community. She made me laugh more times than I can count. She was a loyal friend and always looked on the bright side of things, even when her health started to decline. I will miss her, but I'm glad she is in a better place.
So sorry, Rose. I know you were very close to Ruby.
thanx jwr. and an up-date on sprite. she has had covid-19 and now has pneumonia. not hospitalised. i am trying to persuade her.
i am so glad that i was able to send onto Ruby all those wishes, prayers, hugs and positive vibes from all her babbler friends. Ruby did not die unloved. she knew we all cared about her and admired her very deeply
oh, gosh Thank you for the news, rose, but I can see it's not good. Cass needs hospital care unless she is getting full-time nursing at home (which I doubt). Is she getting the meds at least?
Rose are you in touch with anyone else in the family? If so, will you send my love -- and a shove!
good idea jwr. i will email her daughter and son.
Thanks. It would be good to know how they are too.
I could paste the tribute in here, if non-Facebook people would like to see it. But it is long.
How are you doing, Rose?
Yes origami. That would be so kind. Break it up into small bits
good luck to sprite.
So sad to learn of Ruby's passing...fly high sweet Ruby and keep the Angel's laughing!
Well, duh ... I just put it in my profile if anyone would like to go read it.
Geniou, origami!
put an "s" on the end of that!!
that's a beautiful tribute to Ruby. ♥
ty origami
So sweet, origami. And so true.
I have to go to work soon. Just a suggestion, but could you note in the chat later on or just before you leave that the tribute is there. And for everyone else, to check in even if you're not playing at least once a day? Back later.
It is so sad. This news of Ruby and her passing. She will be missed. I feel a little blindsided by this. I came here today to escape the reality of the day, but find there is no rel escape. While I do not often interact with you all, as I find I am becoming more and more an introvert, I want everyone to know I appreciate your online presence and wish you all health in these perilous times.
Sorry to hear about Ruby. She made me laugh a lot. I am going to miss her here.
She was funny and quite saucy. I am trying to find a picture of her that she sent me when she was very young striking a pose. I am sure she would want to share it with you all.
Good evening to all the gentle folk in Babbleland. My husband and I rarely have the chance to play but being stuck at home has allowed us to enjoy the game again. We wanted to extend our condolences to all regarding Ruby. We are glad to know that she no longer is in pain. Blessings to all who knew her.
Thanks, Origami, for posting her son's tribute to Ruby. She will be missed. We were both from New York and shared a bit of history because of that. I'll miss trying to get a happy birthday message to her here each April 17th.
Oh, you're welcome. Unfortunately, I can't find that picture. I think it must have been sent to an email address I no longer have ;-(
clue for x word please? i know it is a 5.
Thank you, Origami, for posting that wonderful tribute to Ruby. She will be missed here in BabbleLand.
Just logged in for 1st time and saddened by news of Ruby's passing... we had only recently connected and traded emails. She had a wild wonderful life. I'm just sorry she had such a hard exit and that I didn't get more time enjoying her original point of view. Good night, sweet Ruby, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
mkg, I know that it starts xe, but I'm afraid I don't know more.
You're welcome, Pam.
Good night to all, stay safe and stay healthy.
She wrote me recently "Oh, Sherrell, I wish we were sitting in a sidewalk cafe' here drinking espresso, smoking cigarettes and ogling young men." Me, too, Ruby.
She reminded me of "Auntie Mame," whose motto is: "Live, live, LIVE! Life's a banquet - and most poor suckers are starving to death!"
hello dear friends. I am very late tonight, but wanted to make sure I logged on to the chat to add my sadness at the loss of our dear Rubyfoo. A real hot ticket and wonderful addition to our community. She will be sorely missed.
Natasha, your Auntie Mame comparison is so fitting! Full of life!!!
She reminded me of my beloved late Aunt Bea, who, when told by her doctor that if she didn't take her osteoporosis meds she'd wind up in a wheelchair, riposted: "So what? I'll find a cute guy to push it for me!"
haha
indeed!
I have been sewing surgical masks ALLLLLL day. Hope to finish up tomorrow. So many are waiting, and I feel awful I can't get them done up faster
I wish I had some elastic, Trif. I have a lot of fabric and a sewing machine.
xe 5/20 - xe+first name of Peeples of "Nicole Chapman" fame
Around here people have been told fabric masks aren't going to protect front line healthcare workers from COVID patients' aerosols - they're too porous. Local hospital is asking construction cos to donate their n95s.
these aren't for COV19 patients. They are for veterinarians and nurses working on other floors, to free up the n95s for others.
That's great Trif. It makes me a little crazy to read that the shortage of n95s in a pandemic was predicted as long as 10 years ago, or more, yet nothing was done to fill up the strategic supply. But is it true that, even if in sealed packaging, they expire?
Kudos to you, trif!!!
Rose, I'm so very sorry to hear about Sprite....i had no idea
Indeed. I have zero talent in the handicrafts dept so am always in awee
I think I meant to write awe
A lovely tribute to Ruby. Thanks to Ori for posting it.
I am sorry about Sprite and wish her a speedy recovery.
so much happening in such a crazy time. love to all, healing thoughts to those who can use it, hugs to everyone
what are the stats for the bottom left E please?
Harpjane, start with ex.
thanks
found some canines
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!Way to go
Hey Minver! Did you finish yet?
ooh found an eagle
Origami, if U are still here I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your mother. You and your family will be in my thoughts.I hope your mom is in a better place.
Hello harpjane, no I did not finish yet. I started this grid at flip, but I just signed back in now. Not going to finish.
phantom pig-Latin "IX-nay!"
Are you hunkering down, Minver?
OH, Min. No, Ruby was not my mother. I was posting what her son had posted for others to read. Sorry for the confusion.
hello everyone -- just in to change my icon (looks like it won't appear immediately) -- anyone need any clues?
I can't stay cooped up inside all day so I go out everyday.
hi nan, i proably need clues but not going to finish anyway
Take my dog to a different park every single day. We had snow today, so I went to Staples&did some work instead.
I'm gonna need a dog if they lock us down. I'll go nuts if I can't get outside.
We could probably sneak into our backyard but all of our doors face a street....
not a good idea min --- if you go out go some place uncrowded and outdoors --- a store is one of the worst places to hang out.
I get the feeling that people in the US are not getting the message as to how dangerous this virus is.
Live in NY State, where we have a MAJORITY of the cases
It's split. Some of us get it, some don't. I will probably email some things to be printed tomorrow and then go into the store later to pick them up. It's triage.
do you realize that the virus remains live on hard surfaces for an hour or two? Everytime to touch something in a store that has been touched by someone ahead of you, you put yourself at risk.
Shop where I volunteer at just had to close. My school is closed. I understand the severity of Coronavirus which is why MOST of my activities are with just my dog in park.
You're in BC, right nan? We left Whistler and drove home (through Seattle) and then two days later learned that someone at Whistler tested positive. A few days later Vail closed down the resort. I'm glad they closed the border as too many people are not at all careful.
all of them should be -- don't understand why you would hang out at staples -- don't know why staples is staying open -- aren't all stores other than grocers and pharmacies supposed to be closed?
Sister is a nurse. She gave me a huge lecture about virus.
It depends on the state, nan. In Montana restaurants, bars, and any place where people gather (bowling alleys, theaters) are closed. Many stores have chosen to close.
yes it is starting to spread in BC --- the person in Whistler had been with a tourist from out of the country. We have 486 cases in BC now - mostly in nursing homes in Vancouver.
I was at staples for 1 hour making copies of things I need to post on my school website for my students. Don't have the equipment (copier and scanner) I need at my house.
There is a group of Montana nurses who are lobbying the governor to do a lockdown NOW rather than waiting. We only have 40-ish cases.
We think we were in the dining room at the same time as the two women at Whistler. No way to know for sure.
Only essential businesses open here and everyone told to stay home for 2 weeks -- if they don't it will be enforced.
However,I will be using online resources from now on.I'm not that tech savvy & school gave teachers no training in distance learning. I doubt my students will do my work.
Honestly,do not know why Staples was open today either
I like you icon nan.
I agree that social distancing is not being practiced by all. It will take a heavy handed order to enforce it. I talked to a woman in the Philippines today and she was really scared. No travel whatsoever. She has to have a note in order to go to work.
Yes, nan, that is hysterical!
I do not understand why Florida did not close beaches. I saw all of the younger people there on Spring break. My 2 nieces went there for Spring break. Don't understand.
Harp - the following link outlines where and when the tourists with the coronavirus were at Whistler:

Twenty years think this is a hoax and a joke minver
Twenty years thinks this is a hoax??? I do not understand.
Oh wait.Do you mean twenty-year olds thinks it's a hoax?
rururocks came and went like a flash of lightning! Hi/bye
Any guesses for the next grid size? My guess is 555 words
Yes. That is why it is party as usual
138 is my guess
Not just 20 year olds think it's a hoax. A 73 year old also thought it was a hoax.I will not name any names though.
I have a friend who has it. And she’s been violently ill
I do hope your friend get better and recovers from it ru!!
Likely heading to a hospital soon if not by tomorrow
I had a friend who was tested, but it was negative thank goodness!
You have a very interesting comment in your profile ruru
