It is about a three to four day wait for grocery delivery. What I used to be able to get in 2 hours.

I had some luck with Instacart. Ordered Tuesday morning got Friday afternoon delivery.
I'm so reluctant to use Instacart because of how they've been (mis)treating their people... though I doubt any of the delivery services are perfect in that regard... but I'm guessing folks are grateful for the gig, and I always give a good tip
I don't think Giant treats their people any better. I have been shopping at the same store for years. I talk to the cashiers and I hear things about how Giant treats their employees.

We will never know the data I am interested in. How many people went to China while the virus was rampant there? How many of them then returned to other countries? How many people traveled to countries where this virus was already prevalent even after that news came out?
I think we are soon going to see legislation to the effect that masks and gloves must be worn in groceries and pharmacies. We are asked not to buy N95 masks as they are needed by health care workers, so busy sewing masks now. Thank goodnes there are a few easy patterns posted on the internet.

It just a 4 layer surgical style mask, but after doing some research I've come up with materials that can be found in the home (old t-shirt, bed or table linens, elastic, ribbon, pipe cleaner) to make them with (fabric stores all closed)

we get up so early, a nap would help me stay up past i'm-embarassed-to-say-o'clock :D

well that's the thing, i keep staying up too late and it's a vicious cycle. hence why i didn't want to nap today.
i'm old now, but i remember getting by on very little sleep in my "prime"

It is going to get worse. What happens when we are a society of people who no longer have money to pay for food, bills and housing. Not everyone can deal with months without a paycheck.

Time will tell on how long people continue to tolerate the wealthy, who are not affected by this.
I think many of the wealthy are affected though, Molly. Businesses going bust, people unable to pay rent. However there are always some who seem to get away unscathed and it's pretty much always the less fortunate who suffer most. I really hope that the end result isn't a violent one.

here in michigan we have at least one landlord who has reduced rent to $1/mo, so hooray for him
There are some decent people around. Here people who are genuinely in hardship due to the virus cannot be evicted.

Yes, here too Liz. But not being evicted doesn't mean people are not going to owe months of rent or mortgage that they didn't earn income for.
True - it's a terrible situation and it'll take years before the world truly recovers. Times are and will continue to be hard
our so-called leaders could have done plenty to help us get through this but they are on the tube right now lying their asses off instead of doing anything useful -- don't get me started
I hope that hopefully when people are earning again, when this crisis is past, that some of these debts will be written off. I live in hope.

Hope is a good thing Liz. I join you in that. Yet, I hear things at work, and read things here about people "being on vacation". I wonder about the sense in that and the disparity in the world.

Too many people think the rules don't apply to them. It really annoys me - like the sunbathers. Just reading about people still being encouraged to go to church in Florida - all places of worship are closed here, regardless of faith. Grrrr! Time to go and calm down.

Yes, I tried to get some from Whole Foods delivered. It said it was available and then at check-out it was out of stock.
The truth is I can probably get flour at the farmers' market if I'm willing to chance going out. There's an amazing guy with a "flour farm" called "migrash" - his flour is off the hook wonderful. But I've been avoiding going into public spaces.
And anyway I can't find yeast...
I had forgotten about potato yeast. I have a great, old book "Uncle John's Bread Book." It was originally published in 1960. It has all sorts of starters, including potato.

Natasha. I was home and determined not to go out last Friday, and I wanted a Challah for Shabbat. I found yeast at the back of the cupboard with an expiration date on 10/2018. It worked!
