stopped by the grocery on my way back from the farm stand. supposed to be directional aisles but there was none of that going on. every aisle I went down had somebody coming toward me. just had to walk fast past them.
The directional thing in the grocery store is not working at all. This is why I go early in the morning. At least I am dealing with fewer clueless people.

Have you ever seen an electrical outlet anywhere near a toilet? My friend has a bidet, but it is separate from her toilet and runs like a toilet/connected to the plumbing. That is the only way to safely do it.
It is also expensive as hell.
well, it does say it needs a GFCI outlet. but yeah, nowhere in our house.
I suppose you could run a cord up and over to the outlet next to the bathroom sink, but it would be unsightly.

Our daughter's stimulus plus her hubby's will be eaten up by the first week of their family COBRA health insurance. Luckily we are in a position to pay their insurance for them, at least for a few months. But boy, if anything will convince the American public to join the rest of the industrial world in health insurance provision, this has got to be it.
Actually, I meant the first month. Not that that is much beller...
Losing your health insurance in the midst of this is the worst part for a lot of people. So sad.

The middle has little power unfortunately, not much motivated most of the time on any topic, it's the more extreme opinions that typically drive the conversation because they're the ones who are more invested in getting a perspective adopted
12-24 hundred dollars will do little for people who are going on a month with no income. I have never opted for COBRA when I was out of work. It is astronomically expensive. I just go without and hope for the best. Like many people who have no other choice.
We've also seen a big pivot towards the number of self-employed like the Uber/Lyft drivers , Amazon delivery drivers et al who didn't have current coverage, and many of them are no longer able to work, or are at higher risk of infection.

A big issue with me is when people don't follow the rules they put not only themselves, but others (maybe more vulnerable people) at risk.
Part of the problem is that we live in a world of convenience. People are used to getting what they want, when they want it.
on a lighter note, our butcher, who we generally worship from afar, is now offering fresh bulk boxes, so i ordered a bbq box that i can pick up on friday. for 100 bucks (71 USD), i get: 8 seasoned beef patties 8 house made sausages 2 chicken legs 2 pork chops 2 8oz top sirloin 2 10 oz New York strip 2 10 oz ribeye
oops, i didn't mean to post all that!
The police here today said they were going to start citing people not obeying the rules. They have busted up many parties here (some with 100+ people). Idiots.
(but i ordered honey/ginger/apple/sage sausage and some plain ol' pork sausage)
they've started doing that here, too - and today, a gym and restaurant were found to STILL be open and operating - hefty fines forthcoming
--- this butcher shop has aged meat that is out of this world, but that's reserved for REALLY special occasions, not like the plague or anything
I used to get my produce delivered from Imperfect Produce. They are now offering meat. But, I'm not sure if I want "imperfect" meat :D

he's a really good butcher, a young man who just had his first child - his little family is struggling. they opened shop during a bad time and, even though they're in a good neighborhood, i know it's not easy for him
(and he'll cut meat for you, no questions asked - if you want a certain cut off a larger piece, no problem. if you want the outside skirt steak, he'll cut it for you, no change in price
anyway, bread's out of the oven - time to make a drink and start thinking about reheating the leftover beef stew
I really wish there were more people like your butcher in the world. I miss the days of shops like that who have owners who care about their customers.

our daughter? She's holding steady pretty much since she started infusions for the MS. She did trip and fall over her walker yesterday and got some road rash. Right in the hospital entrance area, going in for an MRI. Poor kid.
