and so how is everyone enjoying this isolation caper. i am sooooo bored that i have offered to play a game of othello with DH. which he wins every time !!
I'm still working. But my hours are finally down. I was working 12 pluses for months
ugh m9. how awful.
My poor 6 year old granddaughter wants to see her friends and go to gymnastics :(
I have never been bored yet in all my 63 years, and I doubt I ever will be.
Yeah, when my hours went down I slept a LOT for a couple days.
i know. and my 5 year old g/daughter has taken to running around the room without using the floor. her poor mother is te4ing her hair out.
hey ya jac. you are so amazing. i am so loving your posts on FB. xox
It's hard on my ol' brain to be on one thing for 12 hours straight for so long!
Thanks, granny rose re the FB stuff.xx
in case everyone does NOT know, let me introduce Jacula. autor extraordinaire, nitter without peer, and baker of such yummy thing you can smell them through the screen.
*author*
But I'm an earth mama, just like Donovan once said.
UGH...LOLL *knitter*
Thanks for the intro! Gosh! I'll haveto keep on living up to that now!;)
folks go find her if you haven't already. she is just the most accomplished person i know.
I agree, no boredom :)
but I sure do miss my choirs.
Singing is a great thing to do to keep the spirit up, m9.
Yup. And listening to music. Yay for youtube!
I sing a lot at work. Sometimes my clients don't know what to think of me :)
it's strange. all my life i couldn't sing a note to save myself. then i turned .. ahem... a certain age. my voice changed almost overnight. DH who has the most beautiful tenor and an ear for music, says i am ow pitch perfect. very strange.
And just about everything is a song reference to me!!
That's very interesting granny!
*now*
I've been listening to The Andrews Sisters and Anne Shelton, recalling my parents' p;d 78rpms.
such harmony. i love singing in different harmonies, blending . i am actually an alto we have found out.
i've been listening to Mat and Savannah Shaw, the Killers, all sorts of arias...
I used to be in the school choir until my voice changed to somewhere bewtween soprano and alto, some kind of mezzo, I can sing along happily with Marelene Dietrich, Alison Moyet and Kiki Dee.
I am most definitely a soprano
fireworks!!
at church, some of the hymns are sung in harmony. i love it. sometimes it's men, then women, then all together. other times it lower notes, followed by higher notes, then all together. i love he4ing it happen.
I worry about my Friday choir. I lead one at a local senior community.
Well done marksdolly!
ty!!
WTG MARKSDOLLY !!
any clues needed before I scoot?
At church, I challenge myself to sing soprano on the first verse, alto on the second, tenor and then sometimes bass an octave higher. It's good for my sightreading.
Woot, woot, Mark!!
ty :)
time to go look for some munchies. i think there is a box of crisps somewhere. happy babbling everyone. see you at the flip. xox
54 to find and off for some kip and some activity now.
yay, done. laters, all! :)
Does the an8 begin with 'also' (as it were?) Oh, and hi and good morning!
Hi Matty , it does start that way yes
Thanks, Stu. D'ya reckon it's a word I would use in conversation?
Found it. And no, I wouldn't ;)
only if you're a vulcanologist !
Hope you are keeping well though
I am, thank you! You?
Boringly safe thanks , bit hacked off that all of this year's gigs look to be out of the window
Yeah. We almost bought tickets to Cropredy but didn't. Just as well
we did catch Fairport in Feb but all the others we booked - including Cropredy - I've mostly written off . Still . I've got plenty of time to listen to the records !
Looks like rain all day for us. I'm glad all I have to do that involves going out is a beer run.
fush - what South Africans eat with their chips
Or their chups : D
Hi all. Happy Sunday. Does anyone have the lone N in the 4th column? I'd love a clue. Also for the 8
ni5,12
Thanks FT
an8,45
Again thanks
yw! OK now I'm off to make some French toast for breakfast :)
Great minds. I'm making stuffed French toast
Sorry, bacon stuffed French toast
Yum!
Une, it's almost fresh peach time : )
I was excited about Sunday breakfast here until I read about the french toast...
i couldnt understand how you could stuff french toast! Here we make frenh toast by toasting cut bad cutting it in half across then toasting it again so it is a bit like a crispbread. I looked up your recipe and I think we'ed call that eggy bread or when I was young we were told it was called Poor Knights Pudding
cut bad?? Cut brread
And the
Eggy bread. That is so British. Like figgy pudding.
And the French call it Pain Perdu...Go figure.
Pain perdu makes me think chicken : D
Do you let your FT soak over night, Molly?
No, I only do that if I'm making the breakfast casserole with bread cubes.
Were you able to find yeast this week?
Not in the stores. I bought some from Amazon.
I saw an article about making your own yeast...hmmm?
Probably better than the article I saw on what to use instead of toilet paper and how to dispose of it. Apparently, toilets everywhere are clogged because people are flushing Kleenex and paper towels.
hi all.
there was a brief show on PBS last night about quiltmaking and I thought of you Bea
and hokie
I'm sure it was. This was from a blog by a woman who tries to do self sustained living...Can't remeber what that is called.
That was nice, peri. I finished my quilt top yesterday. Now I have to baste it for quilting.
I would need a greenhouse and somewhere to fish if I were going to live on what I grew and/or caught.
may I have a clue for the ni5 on the 4th column pls?
ni + consonant + the accusative we
Ends with you and me.
ty both
Quit reading the chat, mlf.
nbt
di 7/36, pls
No longer in operation
Oh, sorry - that's the 40
Add a vowel in the middle of the one matty clued
I...did not expect that to work. Thanks Bea
bzz what do you mean quit reading the chat?
matty, no longer in use?
Well, yes, but that gives away a big part of the answer!
bichon I tried a word that I thought it was but that's not working
does it have a high point tile in the word?
Are we still talking about the di7?
i hope so
Well, the di7/36 can only have, well, 36 points, so no especially high point tiles in there (nothing bigger than a 2)
I have the 7/40, still need the di 7/36
Add a vowel in the middle, bichon
i don't have either
The 7/36 is like the 6/40 but with an unexpected vowel in the middle.
Find the di6/24 and your lives will become much easier
People talk about a di7/40 railway station or factory, for example - derelict...
have DI 6/24 x 3 - not finding the 7s
And bichon had the three letter word in her last question
PT one of the di 6/24s
They all include a word for to utilize
i don't have any di6's
I don't get the 7/36 clue
oh i have one di6 now
Once you find some, you'll find at least one of the 7s comes easier
Bichon, if you have an email address, I can send you the word, if you like?
Thanks for the Di 7/36.
the di 6 i have is pl
muffinbiscuit@gmail.com
Congrats, too Matty. Glad that mum and Tilly are doing OK And that Tilly is improving every day.
greetings, everyone
hi welk
got the 7s - thnx
Thanks Liz! They're getting better. Tilly isn't totally out of the woods yet, but is heading in the right direction
It starts with the prefix for not, mlf
oh got the di 7/40
bzz that much i know:)
It takes a village...
Hopefully you’ll get over to Aus before too long. Time for sleep here. Have a good day all.
Sleep well - and I hope so! As soon as they let us come, I'll be there!
Top row greyed, fourth column greyed.
hello. just sat down and almost grayed out the first row right off the bat, just need 1 d. that never happens.
Morning, Carla. I was trying to load more of my stitching to my flicker account.
ooh, you'll have to share your flicker.
It's in her profile
oh, I just clicked before I typed that and didn't see it. guess I should read closer.
ah, to the side. I forgot that was an option on here
will check it out!
shite is one of my fave british words and I always want it to work here
and it never does ~:o(
nope
The regular sh4 works just fine for me
yeah, but shite just sounds so much better
on at least an hourly basis, lol
I think it sounds kind of snooty, but that's just me
I used to play soccer with some scottish guys so shite and rubbish got a lot of use
I think Scottish, but that's me
and they weren't always talking about my playing :D
Since I don't listen to the news...Any states lifted the SIP order? I know NC has extended ours.
I think all the states around us did, bea, except VA
Carla, have you heard of fabric slashing?
with ya, Bea. No news. When I need to report back to work (other than the daily safety check-in and minute by minute accounting for the day), I figure they'll call me.
love the pics, bea! and no, I don't think so re: fabric slashing
Google it or look on Pinterest. That is what I am going to do with lots of my fabric scraps.
ok, I will look
And thank you, Carla. Those were the only pics I had on my computer. Trying to get more downloaded.
added my instagram if you want to see some things I've made. will try to add more quilts to that. most of them were on FB before I started insta and deleted FB.
we almost have a good hissy fit in the grid
This self sustaining thing needs to end. Having to cut my son's hair is one more thing I do not need on my TO DO list.
lol, my 17yo son asked yesterday when I thought sports clips was going to open. I said I thought it would be a while but offered to do it. now, I cut his hair about to age 14 but he looked at me like I was crazy.
I imagine the salons will be booked for months, once they open up again.
I used to cut my kids hair when they were little. But once puberty arrived, that was NOT COOL anymore.
well, the oldest made me stop doing his earlier but the youngest was afraid to go somewhere. then once he started going somewhere else I guess he forgot I could do it.
it all started when they were younger and I took them to a kids salon and the girl absolutely butchered both haircuts. I was like, surely I can do better than that and for lot cheaper. and yes, I could.
Good afternoon everyone....clue please for AN/8?
For me it was just about staying in budget.
did not know that was the 8, will look now
Sorry Carla....am not liking this grid at all...
ok, no idea, flask
I like it better than the previous 3 days. was going pretty smoothly but am stuck now with 27 left.
almost missed my favorite appalachian english
thanks anyway, Carla....
i found the an 8 if someone still needs it
yes please
an8 a place in the high mountains of argentina
got it, thx
Oh man...very clever clue...thanks Ruru!
22 left! 7 4's, so that's what I'll focus on now. not sure where they could be hiding.
di7/36?
don't have that either
not one who di6, as much as I keep trying
Stick an E in the middle of the di6/24
hmm, I have 3 and think I tried it with each
it's the di7 after the di4 that means noise
ah, it's a word that maybe describes Sarah Bernhardt reciting at a Paris salon
not sure what any of that means, but finally added the e in the right place to the right 6
ty ...finally figured out what Molly said
thx to all
like the word for a woman who gives you a massage carla... same ending
what is the lone n stats? p&ty

ty
I have 7 more words left, but I'm busy stuffing my face with breakfast...
Breakfast trumps Babble anytime
is fi7 a compound or something I should know?
compound - camera lens
It is a compound, but weird
ah, thanks
and just found a 4 I should have gotten
still 5 left after the list. ugh. guess I should eat breakfast.

one of my missing 5, so I guess I better stay and watch for clues
Tx for fi7 :-)
vi6 is vi + baby plant
vi5,18 with another vowel stuck in
thx bea. I thought that would make the 7 easy but no.
ty
Tx!
the 7 is a wholly different word relating to speed
... it's actually the french word for speed and I've never seen it in English .... ....
ok, french I'm screwed. will look it up, thx
oh thanks
... starts with the French for "fast" (which you are more likely to have heard)
I looked it up, never seen it before
... take four years of French in high school and have a whole mess of French speaking relations and you'll see it
fireworks, thanks to any and all cluers and list makers. it takes a village.
Today the proverbial question will be answered.
what's that bea?
Which came first? The chicken or the egg?
Eggs for breakfast, chicken for dinner. =)
i'm having swine with wine
dos, I took 3 years of spanish and have studied it as an adult on my own several times and my father was a spanish teacher, but he never spoke it. so I can recognize spanish words, but not many french unless they look like the spanish one.
Yum!
I don't even know what we're having tonight.
<--speaks spanish and french.. both very similar
Is that the fancy term for drunken pork?
I'm out of here...Plants and fabric are calling my name.
pulled pork :D
well, they're both based on latin so they should be
mmm, pulled pork
Watch it Ru. Don't get trigger happy.
... my maternal grandmother's family arrived in New France with the regiment in 1653 ... it's as "pur laine" as you get (a rough equivalent of coming off the Mayflower" ... while I haven't seen the french second and third cousins for a long time I'm sure they're still there drinking beer at home and complaining about not being able to go to the bar to drink beer
un indice pour le N, svp?
ni + the beginning of eating to keep yourself going
... desolee
or ends with not them
ty ty
... ah yes ... thanks
guess I need to get busy quilting if I'm going to get it mailed to my mom before mother's day. TTFN!

oh wait i just found a french word that counted!
for 7
do you know any very speedy french trains?
is that what the V is for in TGV?
mais oui
train de grande vi7
what a funny thing to name your trains, lol
can you just see us doing that in English? "Really Fast Train"
super speedy trains (tm)
I know!
i wonder if the Japanese do that. they have really fast trains too.
rilla is in her post-suckle state of contentment
The name "Bullet Train" is the English translation of the Japanese word dangan ressha (弾丸列車), which was the name given to the project while it was being made in the 1940s. Nowadays, the trains are called Shinkansen trains. The name Shinkansen means "New Trunk Line". The trains are called "Super Expresses".
that's more reasonable, i think
I've been on a bullet train and a TGV :)
moi, seulement le TGV
et l"amtrak :P
but they are Very Speedy :D
I haven't been on AMtrak
i've been on trains in spain and italy and through the chunnel and up into amsterdam also
the one good thing about amtrak was the texas french toast they had for breakfast. idk if they still do but that stuff was goooooood
Eurostar?
What are the stats for the u please?

so Hurshy, please explain. I know you goto divorced but I didn't know about a new person!
oh, well, i have a person, yes. it is a long-distance relationship, we met online.
fab :)
he loves animals which is clearly the most important quality for a person to have :D
well absolutely! has he met the kitties?
not in person. we've only met once in person ourselves!
is he in the US?
yes
so sadly no prospect of getting a european citizenship out of the relationship
:D
well that wasn't very well orrganised!
i know, i know, what a dumb move on my part
helps with the first di7?
well ruru calls it something to do with naughty massaging people

Hello grannyrose! How are you? Welcome back to the grid
Me, myself and I were getting lonely here for the past 2+ hours. I have been saving my last word since 6:15 today.
hi min -- do you save an easy word for last? (sometimes I save a 4/4)
cooee minveryork. bbs. delivering meals to elderly neighbour, then i'll be back.
I do all of the easy ones first. Save harder ones for later.
That is so nice of you to do that grannyrose.I also deliver food to an older person, however, she lives 45 min away.
Sometimes I already know what my last one is and I save it for later. Tonight, I have no clue what my last word is!
12 to go
I FINALLY know what my last one is. I will wait for U BDG so we can celebrate our fireworks together. Let me know when you are ready to type in your final word, alright?
