ahhhh, its a long one
ugh - yet another biggie!
hmm, no coffee
lol. shade!
it was a nice weekend. Great to see my parents, although poor Liv wasn't exactly thrilled to see them, but part of that was the new faces factor.
no, I had changed about an hour ago, the flip just forces a reset on everyone's browser!
nice, lib!
Hi Stid! Bye Stid! see you all tomorrow
I'm not sure if I'm doing this one.
yes, wassup, a coffee-chocolate warm beverage...

Hi stidmama! Haven't had much time to play lately
oh, now i see it...i like mine black. no nothing in it.
black? what's that? LOL
as in chocolatta ya-ya!
we could have a 75 word puzzle - if a less inclusive dictionary were used. this one has a LOT of french - some words in both genders.
the first word i saw, as always is disgusting. why am i plagued so? its like my spidey-sense. i see and hear all dirty things around me
yah, the 250 word puzzles I don't have time for either -- have to see what I can do in an hour and call it a night
hmmm... ty, melon :)

good night all, *poof*
good nite stidmama, thanks for all your help
could be some sort of jewelry
oogley, that's an every day.
helenkeller i hate to be a crank but stationery is not stationary -
similar double to what men put on their heads when going bald
each
but for your feet.
oh hell -- sorry
like your hyacinth icon, Munner!
That good enough for ya?
should be lickety... but we'll see! :) thanks
see melon - this is what nrkii & i were saying earlier - we learn alot of new & mostly useless words here, but our spelling is going downhill (that is a perfect example)
thanks lickety
I am now about 3 days late keeping up with icons. What is today's theme?
well, lickety, i think i nailed the "feet" part. LOL!

Please get the cd "The Blessed Life " by Robert Morris and watch or get the book. You too can enjoy This Blessed Life.
goodnight wassup!
why isn't posey a word =(
F off oogley -- this space for playing babble
holy ring around the rosey, you're right!
go polish halo, oog :D
Rebekb that really wasn't called for now was it?
no...but a word that rhymes with posey is...
We all have someone or something that we worship and I do worship God.
It's justl ike any other spam isn't it?
Ok i made up a word, it's a challenged centipede - a decipede.
rebekb is no more offensive than oogly
even though we are playing babble we can encourage each other to do the right thing. can't we ?
i agree with ls1 - each entitled to their opinion - no matter how lame
here here for the decipede...adding that to my personal vocab melon!
oogley, timing is everything - this is not your best forum, dear.
I agree faerie - I'm with you - but maybe this chat isn't the time or place. Catch us elsewhere oog.
i like that word, decipede!
Ogg-I sure hope so.
ty kris!
I'm only interested in playing babble, not in people using this space as a soapbox
melon - LOL - last comic standing is back on - you ought to audition
i agree, not here to be preached to
Politics and Religion are very touchie subjects and I do try to steer clear of them in chat Yes
oog, you'd be better preaching somewhere else
I wish I could count the time we/Babbler have had prayer for each other..I'm sorry you feel this way.
soapbox is not in today's puzzle
You are entitled to your beliefs, let's just leave this space for playing babble
see here, you all, i disagree, one of the best chat days i had here was discussing the immigration issue - chat went on for a very, very long time with many involved, strong opinions, but very, very mannered - it was great!
wow, you guys are pretty adamant about this, arent you
YES
I come here to play a game PLEASE
hk, you flatter me, but tx. it's a lot of work to be THAT funny, & i'm surpassingly lazy.
well, an 'advertisement' is not the same as a conversation
discussion is different than preaching
LOL - melon - clearly you are not 'brain-lazy'
yes, helen, political chat can be good here...
I didnt see it as preaching, just sharing something that was enjoyable to one of us babblers
Guess I'll bow out now. Good night and pleasant dreams to all. Happy Babbling
yes, good point ls1 - & what we are doing now is having a discussion about preaching :)
which one?
good nite faeri
nite, faeriekae
well, it looked like spam to me. to each his/her own i spoze..
The first time it was sharing. But it's been repeated, and not apropos of any of the discussions, several times now. That's just a lack of social skills
bye bye faerie - see you later ;)
I'm outta here
hk, i owe it all to my late mother of blessed memory. anytime i make someone laugh i realize it's to her credit. she was witty, wayyyy smart - a bridge player, scrabble genius, and killer UPWORDS player. MY girlfriends adored her. i miss her every single day; it's just over a year.
I love UPWORDS, that and scrabble are my favorite games
take care faerie
sorry, mel, I miss mine too :-|
what is UPWORDS?
poise
sorry!!!
It's a kind of scrabble, but you build words on top of one another
after UPWORDS i couldn't go back to scrabble. oh, & Mom did the NYT quote acrostic in INK!
It's a board game, kier, where you tack letters on top of other letters to make new words
ty, geo!
You can go up five levels, it's great
ohhhh melon, you break my heart, it gets easier with time, but you'll always cherish those memories/feeling, as time goes by, with not so much pain - my mom died almost 20 years ago, i feel for you
heh, georgia -- I thought maybe it was a request
liba, it's a real passage, losing a parent. we miss them but internalize all their best.
I know what you mean melon, I play it with my father, we pretty much gave up scrabble after that
ahh. i just bought a cool game for my son's birthday where you lay down tiles and now i can't remember the name of it lol
ohh i remember, it is Blokus. anyone play that??
melon - so did mine (in ink), & we used to play cutthroat scrabble too
woot! do8/55 and do9/72!
I still feel, after 9 years, that my mother can see me-- helps me to do the right thing...
i feel like that about my grandma, like she is watching or checking in on me once in a while. i also think 'hmm, what would my grandma do in this situation' and it is so helpful
well, i'm all chat & no play. signing off for now. tx for the many kind words. lailah tov (hebrew for good night)
yep, kierlex
only 82 words - i could do better. but this was fun.
good nite melon - sweet dreams :)

lailah tov, melon
I am going to bed. Have a good nite and sweet dreams
I wish I could clue it, but its not in dictionary.com
many receive advice, but only the wise profit by it. Welcome the chance to learn about others and enjoy new experiences, and new friends will enrich your lives. concern for a friends' happiness will enhance your own.

my horoscope ?
helen - the to 8/50 and 9/66 is for your foot like the to 6/24 is a hair ***
lolol, kierlex about helen's sight! :D
I can't get the foot wig!
"do or do not. there is no try"--Yoda (that's my preaching for the day)
124 words and finally a gray square! Hooray!

kierlex - i like it

Football or soccer
i don't get the toe thing.... sigh
Or Kick the Can barefooted?
"Only the guy who isn't rowing has time to rock the boat" - Sartre (and that's mine for the day)
what made me find the to8 was the movie with moira kelly and db sweeney... the ice skating one, she taunts him every time he trips and falls and says to*pick! I changed the second word to the other word and there it was
lib - the thing for your head is called a hair *****
i love that movie !!!!!!
to8/9--digit on your foot+pi 5/14 (and plural)
I'm ready for bed. Goodnite to all.
I Like that, Rebekb

kierlex - that's in here too, to6/24

ty knut
No kidding. How on earth did you find that stinking "word" in the first place?
nite, kristinc
I counted up the points and spent like 20 minutes monkey typing every combination I could think of even if it iddn't make sense, which it still doesn't
yes knut...I'm curious how you found it too! holy crow!
ty knut!
you're welcome, all
good nite everyone - i am outta here (& i thank you for your 20 minutes, me thinks you we lucky still to find it in that amount of time, lol)
You're a better man than I, Gunga Din
nite helen
Oh, I was so very lucky, I admit that fully.
:-)
with the number of 2 point letters in the grid, I could have been monkeytyping all night!
I swear I will stay away from the long ones, get sucked in, and now I have six hours to sleep...night all!
g'night, rebekb!
okay, halfway there...goodnight everyone!
nite kristinc
I keep trying the desert/indian tribe and it still doesn't work!

Funny words! Hi Ata :)
Thanks Fran!
Morning Atalante
okie i gotta hit the sack otherwise i'll oversleep!
I would never have thought of putting those two words together!
i wanted to figure out a way to clue it with that medieval article of clothing, the cod*****
Ata, babble rule # 4: always put everything together!
FranMag That is the perfect clue
I like the idea of te8 - the pain of one's youthful years
Ata said a wo-ord, Ata said a wo-ord :)
ooooops! LOL haven't got to that P yet!
hihihi
i see penis...but its not there! help!!!

Now what on earth is a copepod?
we go from penises to lickety...hmmm

You do have quite some competition in that area, mab.
LOL! GMTA ;)

She might get some bowel problems though :(
I know ... *shudders*
slip her a little olive oil.
coed
rosalind: there was a clue with the post right away. Think of all held together.
sorry
nm, happens all the time. I still blame the site and not us.
ooooh I'd like to see that! me: *holds out sppon with horrid smelling gloop on* hobbit! come and eat this lovely stuff! hobbit: *runs*
You go the wrong way about that, Ata. You must drop in on the floor and yell: Noooooo hobbit, don't touch it, nooooo!
Ata, what was that cod-word again you wanted to have here?
LOOOOL. She's too clever for that one, though - I've tried it! The one way to get her to eat anything, I've found out though, is to put it on my dinner plate and pretend to eat it and then put it down on the floor for her. In that way, the icky thing is instantly transformed into Major Treat from My Plate
copepod
I still want to know what that is. But there is an EN-combo that looks like it.
I put a link in about them further down ...
http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/in dexmag.html?http://www.microscopy-uk.o rg.uk/mag/wimsmall/crust.html
Ah! I thought that link was about how to save lickety's page, lol.
he he nope :) they are at the bottom of that page
They are kinda beautiful, aren't they?
Wouldn
Wouldn't be surprised if that En-combo is related.
they are - I like their big antennae
You set me on that trail :)
oh yes - nice combo!
Has anyone found the other 9 yet?
sha r u on bable
?
And there is an i6/24 as well, Ata, that looks related too.
that one is very related. more micro creatures
actually, they get rather big as well - http://blogs.acceleration.net/images/b logs_acceleration_net/russ/6/r_Giant_i sopod.jpg
du9/72 to9/66
(don't look at the words in the link too closely :P)
ooooops.... that contains the word!
how interesting, atalante. must spend more time with that site - like the green algae quite a bit.
I know sprite, but hopefully people won't notice LOL and the pic is *so* cool!
Owwwwwwww! Almost scary!
bit Alien like isn't it!
rosalind230 There is no U next to a D
i wish i'd seen those for yesterday's bug theme
Sure is! Am not sure I would want to hold it if it were alive.
sorry its do9/72
Do you have a clue for that one, rosalind?
at least they don't have big teeth :)
But lots of legs :)
they scurry quickly!
I need to know: is that last one real???
do+notdown+3rdvowel+oppodoff+3rd vowel that an 8/55 then add curly consonant
that should be opposite of off
don't be silly, sprite - they're microsopic. what you can't see with the naked eye certainly can't hurt you. oh, wait.... could be wrong on that.
it's a type of silk
what last one? the do9 or the scary alien?
I am hurt by flue bacils. Can't see them. ;) The scary alien, Ata!
silk do8/55, never seen it spelled that way though
Good morning all. Another value for money grid!
Thanks Fran!
oh yes very real! google for "giant ******"
hi haz
Hi Haz! There is even money IN the grid.
thank you kindly rosalind
Morning Haz
thanks rosalind!
Somehow it really fascinates me, that something in the microscopic realm can also exist on macro scale.
going to get the car mot'd now bye
rosalind230 Good luck
Well if there's money IN it, off I go!
it doesn't happen very often, but its very cool when it does!
the giant one looks like little sand bugs i remember seeing when i was young, i wonder if they grow from those really tiny one.
Ata, I did and wow! "It's a carnivorous crustacean" ... we should have a grid with those two words in it :)
ones
Not there
Wrong window, Fran, but won't work in the other either ;)
that would be a good grid!
actually sprite i was correcting my typo the previous message! :-)
Yeah, I saw, we posted at the same time.
Cannivorous crustaceans would make me think twice about paddling in the sea.
It sounds like the start of a poem.
carnivorous crustaceans
carnivorous crustaceans scary sea Scuba diving sounds sinister since I saw those crawly things
yay sprite the poet!
nice haiku!
hehe ;) Did you see the world they live in is in the grid too?
Cannivorous crustaceans would make me think twice about paddling in the drink One lump or two as the glasses clink Next you're leaning over the sink Sorry
LOL!
carnivorous crustaceans, oh/ our distant relations!/ please keep in in mind/ on your next sea vacation
Ata, you have inspired us all! :)
i have one! carnivorous crustaceans/in the sea/swimming with them/i won't be
lmao! This is FUN!
those tiny ones in the sand have a nasty bite, i'd hate to think what the giant one is capable of!!
Hello everyone!

You were right about not playing, FMitch. Those last few words stump me no end.
hi jean!
Sounds like you'll be busy enough without trying to find words as well! Morning jean!
For you to say that sprite they must have been hard. Hi jean
hi jean
Still need 8. Have been needing them for the last 20 minutes or so.
The grid has standards. No chavs allowed.
lol
A babble grid with standard, now that's a new :)

Saw that one too Haz
Yes, Jean - it's Spangle, my little Welsh Springer Spaniel.

I spotted that Haz and felt sure that enable wouldn't be up to it.
She's very pretty jean, and a great character!
Sorry....just one more Carnivorous crustaceans have spied my meat But I warn........ if you choose me to eat You'll have to beat a hasty retreat Because I don’t intend to be your treat!
I entered it but kind of knew it wouldn't be accepted. Understandable!
Hi everyone, I wanted to thank you all for allowing me to vent and talk a few nights ago about my Mom, and her suffering from lung cancer when we were talking about the smoking issue. My Mom passed today. Again, wanted to thank you. You all saved my sanity many a nights when I would come home from caring for her, and come on here, and talk and laugh with everyone. Not trying to bring anyone down, just wanted you to know, whether any of you knew it or not, you in a small part, helped me :) Thanks everyone. Now, eyes half closed, I plan on tacking this grid. :)
they are so full of energy spaniels as a rule bless them

Cat - I missed speaking to earlier because of a phone call. My sympathies on the death of your mother.
Haz - sorry no, Have to help Maddie with her report on Spider Webs.
ty Haz, very much
Cat - you'll be in our thoughts. These won't be easy times.
Cat, I dont post very often, but my deepest Sympathy to you and your Famely,Your Mom is in a better place ,Painfree,i grieve with you .take care.
ty Haz, I'm just worried about my Dad, they have been married 53 years, he is taking it very hard
ty Yvo, I agree, she is in a better place, painfree. She had been suffering alot these past few days, I am glad she is now at peace.
It's so hard when a life-partner goes. I have two recently bereaved friends, both married for over 40 years and now they are llike lost souls.
Oh my Haz, I bet they are, how very sad. Lost souls, how sad.
One's wife died from cancer, the other's husband after a sudden heart attack. They are grieving so much and all we can do is try to support them through what one described yesterday as a living hell.
Oh Haz, thats just breaks my heart, how they must be suffering. I will remember them in my prayers, please tell them I will.
I will Cat - it breaks my heart to watch them - I have lost my parents and know the suffering that involved but a life partner is something else again.
And now, I must go and do some errands but will be back later. Take care, all.
Bye Haz
bye haz
Take care Haz, and ty for your kind words.

whew - got them, thx frances & arb. Guess I don't know much about mexican sweets! Now to google the devil and thomas more...
amandacath or the last four letters could sound like something to do with eyes
amandacath You're welcome
Amanda -- think about the book More wrote, and what the devil represents

sunshine here yesterday, with a high of 92--aarrgghh!
ok !! throw me a fish and tell me what I need to test!!
Don't ask how you through a fish either.
remembering clues from clue list
Une- Where are you?
We still haven't quite recovered from the storms yesterday. Still very dull today
The 'sn' were so cool. I love building on like that.
Tennessee
Oh...heh. Cuz it was close to that here, too...
we had a really nice extended coolish spring and now BOOM it's summer!
anyone else want to test?? free fish with every bug found! What do you mean remembering clues??
test?
test what?
I mean - if you tick some, then reboot, it remembers! It was a challenge!
lickety needs to test his new development of the cluel list
close page, or seperate browser is as good as a reboot
I'vetried itlickety and yes, it worked thanks
physical challenge!!
how far away are you guys...physically...from each other?
I'd have to bounce the fish off about 3 walls
rolin, have you looked at the Babble Flickr map?
I am fish bullet proof lickety
yeah - I put myself on the map.
Just looked to try it and now I've gone back to working without a list
I'm in Hamburg - for the moment the sun has peeked out, have to take advantage of it as long as it's there!
yes its fine
ptchow
nice going lickety!
with the fish or clues?
nope...i was just wondering if mrp and lickity are in the same room..or dff. rooms..cos my partner and i..(we met over the net)...often chat thru walls..both on pc
I see mrp in person when she comes for more fish ;-)
amandacath Nice to know where people are and as you don't have a profile it was guess the country time and I would not have guessed Germany
Germany - must be a popular place at the moment!
Germany to be avoided like the plague if you don't like football!
rolin, he is about 10 metres away! LOL, we IM eachother to announce dinner, phone calls, to turn the fish in the oven etc...
ooookay..misinterpretted the word 'partner'
oooh so i AM right...hey thats cool..
we do the same..lol..
too funny :))
mrpresident Is that the modern equivalent of putting post it notes on the fridge?
if I wasn't working I'd be as close as I could be ;-)
is it? I'm on the Flickr map - yeah, I await the world cup with trepidation. I don't mind football so much, it's the tourists and possible hooligans I'm worried about
AH
Ignorance here. I use lickety's list, but are there clue lists or definitions someplace on line?
amandacath You hit the nail on the head - hooligans
*nodding*... yeah.. its the same with us...i teach..hes an it person..when we both need to work..we remind each other who's turn it is to make the tea..lol
frances! It is just like that!! I IM him when the kids are playing up, even though we both hear them, I have the power on IM!! go me!!
yes, brandyjack's list is also a good one
WTG mrp
here's brandyjack's list: http://tinyurl.com/q4nna
ok, i really am off now be back in a little while
Merk : 172428 definitions or clues would be a FEAT indeed!
do you guys think clues would be beneficial?? or that definitions would be sportsman-like on a clue page?? It is very interesting to know....
You can also reach brandyjack's list via the http://p105.ezboard.com/bbabblersanony mous link
I perhaps worded that wrong, but would like input on this topic
Have fun babbling all...I'm off to the doctor. >P
I think if you get the word you could add a def, and everyone else who got it could add a clue too, and then you could all vote on which one to show
frances, i was just trying to shorten the link :-)
You can also reach brandyjack's list via the bbabblersanonymous link below is what I meant to say
mrp..its like all the diff pages...if ya wanna list you can get one..if ya wanna clue..you could get one...
no one will be forced to look
angelsong has a good resource for all that
Oh that sounds like a dangerous liasion lickety... the fart word could attract many kids with their own interpretation and then we would suffer!!
could be ranking priority?
mrpresident Is that the F word from yesterday? I laughed so much
rolin, there are some on the chat that are very strong in their opinion of a list... full stop!! I have noticed the backlash and wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that!! LOL, but you are right, we all have a right to play the game as we like... what ever turns us on!
I was wondering about being able to add clues adn hints yesterday, so I think it's a great idea
what...ppl think there shouldnt be a list at all??
not that I'd ever use them of course LOL lists? *gasp* horror!!
Who's that in the room? H ... H...... Hate to say something wrong now!
Atalante - arn't you topping the rankings?
Congratulations!
LOL!!
no idea LOL couldn't care less about the rankings!
please don;t throw me into the list patch mrp! morning ya'll
that is the point Atalante... the game is fun fun fun!! those who take it seriously weird like the word olympics need to take a break!!
morning!
Howdie. Any weird words (besides the do/9) I should be aware of?
i think the to combo its a bit stange 8&9
{{{ren}}} Hi ya!!
well, friendly competition is fun. not even competition even, thats the wrong word, but striving to do as well as you can, with the list or without the list, is the best thing I think. I'll happily go to the list if I'm utterly stuck, and I think you'll find everyone else who likes to work without it would too!
((((mrp)))) ((((all the world)))
matty, I put the si7's on the weird list and the en7&8 are close!!
good morning babblers, just wanted to see the grid and will be back this afternoon
good morning
theres an si7??.. oooh gooooody
out of here - time to work - see you all later
bye rennie!!
Atalante...I agree with you...thats the way I work...I really need the list for the last few every time
What, no chav?!
no chav's here today my dear!
Hurshy and I always end up trying to get the last lot of words together - she's always got some I haven't and I have some she doesn't. and then we try and kick the grid enough that it gives up the rest!!
Atalante I've started this week trying to do without lists and did manage a biggie. However, that doesn't mean that if I'm really stuck I will not look
I started out harrasing the hell out of people on the grid for words... and they were more than happy to clue! then I started getting hints from people to use the list, then hints to use resources,... I figured I wasn't so great and should hunt for clues ... then I got better and finally started to finish! I get stuck, I go the list and the resources!!
Atalante - finishing a grid is a fabulous achievement! Doing it without help - well Hat's off! Good to hear that you get help and admit it! I just can't phathom how much of a memory you'd have to have to do it solo in 24 hours.
Do my troop of monkeys count?
As long as they are stuck to your digits! heheheh - good one - Ooopps, I slipped and got the 11 letter!
MY monkeys have welts on their ass most days!! animal cruelty!! come and get me!
occasionally *occasionally* I can do a grid with no help, but generally that's only Sprite's domain! LOL mrp that's exactly how I ended up doing it - if you don't challenge yourself a bit, you don't get anywhere. but I am very very glad forall the clues in the log!!
The clues are wonderful and sometime hillarious
me too....clues I mean.....I love to give clues if I can but I'm not very quick !!...but I feel extremely clever if I can...it's as enjoyable as the babble
utterly! the clues are often the best part!
my favourite clues are the out-of-the-box ones... like the en8... the final of mp3
just what I was saying to my man in bed this morning !!¬
LOL karys!!!
I think that's the one thing I don't like about this chat log - when clues start getting like curly letter + letter before m + you + 2nd vowel. just write the word, dammit! LOL!
LOL
Just seen the weather forecast for tomorrow and wouldn't you know that where I'm going for cricket its going to be yet another cloudy day with perhaps some more showers. I just wish the clouds would stop crying. You'd think they'd be all dried out by now!
brb
too right atalante! the last 1/2 hour tends to be when they are *required* and that is to me ok, cause what is the harm!? when the kids come on, they want easy clues and that is another time for going-the-easy... otherwise, list and resource yourself for extra comfort!!
oh yes I agree! its when they appear 1/2 an hour after a new grid that I start throwing stabby things around!
They don't just want easy clues - they want the words
you're right Frances
Frances, that is when I give them the fish words on a place with lemon and sweet chilli sauce and tartare for extra topping :))
106 words in just over 45 minutes here
Try shark spitting out the bones!
ive got 30 in about 10 mins.
Dense here. I need a clue for the final pe 4,5. How do I get stumped on the easy ones?
80 in about 20 mins, so far.
merk, change the letter as for the pe4/6 above it
morning Jacula
Morning all, btw.:)
Afternoon, all!!! The moviemeister is here!!!!!!!
I'm back - looks like I timed my errands perfectly. The wind's coming up again
is that bob hope, movieman
Annie - you need to refresh......
I tried ... says it's not in the dictionary. I must have that pe in the wrong place.
Hi Jac, Hi Movieman! Goosey-goosey-ganders's birthday today?
is there a theme today I should look at??
Nah, amanda, I just couldn't find a suitable celeb icon today.......
MrP - today's theme is 'stationery'.
Howsabout cluez for the y and the j plz?
Damn!!!!! Just got the j, but still need the y.....
can anyone help with the y please?
y-- what you say when something's gross.
darel - the y is an expression of disgust with a different vowel from normal.
100 words!
y 4/8 x
got it thanks!!
movieman I can only come up with the Quiller Memoradum!
je 4/9 like dungaree but with a different second vowel
and the j??
any help with the first de 6/27?
I finished the 'pe'. Somehow, I had them out of order and it confused me.
Just realised, Frances, I could've chosen a poster or a still from the Kate Winslet movie "Quills".....
movieman That t
any hints for the 8s or the 9?
movieman Sorry, that should have been 'too' keyboard sticking
kateQ... you mean undoing DaVinci
imdb has a short film called "Stationery Games" - never heard of it tho
jbp Like that clue
jdp--ty and pass the fish
PTL ... I finished all the 'p's!
no fish.
help with the J would be nice tho...
can someone explain the fish references today?
jbp - fluorescent dungarees (it's a babblet, remember it when you get it, it shows up almost every time there's a j in the grid)
another word for dungarees but change the second vowel from the first vowel to the fourth vowel
kate & amanda...thanks for the dungarees, especially the flourescent kind!
Just changed my icon.......refresh people!!!!!!
yw, jbp. Grace, we like to smack ourselves upside the head with a virtual wet mackerel (or whatever the fish du jour may be) when we miss an obvious word. We're odd like that
LOL......looks like Old McDonald has paid us a visit today...
Can someone please tell me how many words are in today's puzzle?
aha. tnx for the clarification.
250 words in total today, deb.
ty Jacula
hi, Angelsong! old mcdonald?
movieman You found it!
the Vowels...E I E I O...
I'm guessing "e-i-e-i-o" is the Old McDonald reference...
Good morning Babblers:)
Hi daisy!
I'm stuck at 161. Anyone have hints for the 8s or the to9/66?
missing 3 i's - got 2x winter stuff and 3x atomic stuff, what else might there be?
topend
another big one, I see....yesterday's was a nice break...but...coffee break's over! back on your heads!
d'oh
not top, grace, but close....
amandacath, i am missing one of the i-atomic stuff... i have the thingies and to make the thingies...
made thingies too
ah, thanks (trout)
working on the last one
amanda... it rhymes with the thingies, and is symbolic
and plural, too
oh, duh (sea bass)
one more i...?
well, it's not ipod...
'cause I keep trying to make that work...
And it's not a whelping bitch - inpup
lol haz!
me too - french flower children doesn't work either - 'ippies
lol amandacath
night all! time to lay my head down and watch the tennis! thank for the fun! (waving! bye)!

Bye mrpresident!
'Bye, MrP.
Quick visit, this time - off I go again!
isoich - twin ego?
bye haz
hee hee
bye haz
ipot huh? *hmmmm*
hiya all
clue for the i words: related to small particles.
were you gone, hannah?
grace, there are 3 of those, so far... the things themselves, to make them, and made them
are you saying that there's another oine?
i went out
well then, welcome back
and i ave jst come bck
clue for first co 6/24, please?
no, just 3. Then there's the words related to cold and the words related to figures.
never mind - got it
has to do with morpine, ylleria - start with the fish, then fiddle with vowels
care to share, ylleria?
it's the first co 4 with some random vowels added on the end
*shivers* I'm allergic to co 6, if it's what I think it is
i cheated to the list - the last i is a 6/24 *goes hunting*
okay, so does anyone have a clue for the co 8?
ylleria - what glue provides (we'll have the fish ready, I needed it too)
thanks amandacath :)
if that co is the drug, i can't get it to be spelled right...
ah, so people do have some of the 8s.
me either jbp...I don't think it's in there after all
it's not the normal drug, that one isn't there (or at least i haven't found it). Starts the same, then 3 vowels
Just got the last i....... Whoever said ipod was close, but there's 2 more letters between the "i" and the "pod"......
and i don't get the glue one either
which c does the co8 come off of?
it's not the drug itself, jbp, but relating to it. Try the first co 4/6, and mess about adding vowles on the end
Ah! Thx, MM - twin pea homes!
it comes off the c in the middle column
There's only on 'c' in the grid, scribble.:)
ty, movieman; that one was eluding me!
damn
thanks ylleria :)
I can't get the drug one either...
Can anyone help with eu 8/55 please?
*Or even only one c! LOL
oh right....*duh*....i think i meant which O....
so it starts with the co 4 plural fish?
Drug one: is like Lear's daughter, but missing an r and an l.
Does that help?
jbp - for the glue one, if something is together as a whole, it possesses the quality of co******
thanks jfarber!!!!!!!
btw, there's an e7-8 combo that's like the is6/24...
jpb, singular fish, then the vowels
thx, amanda.
I bet the Lear reference got it. This is a literate group :-)
amanda - ty for the inside feet. (-:
Hey -- just noticed the deadly (tasteless and odorless) powder is in this one!
thanks, ylleria... i didn't see that other o up there
lol jfarber. ;-)
Have neither e7-8 combo nor is6/24, tho -- clues for those, please?
deadly powder?
What you are NOT smelling is the most deadly poison known to man...
/Obscure princess bride reference.
please pass the fish.....got the co8
I have some sort of herring-like smelly ready and waiting...e7-8 and related is6?
jfarber - i6/24=ipod with 2 letters between the "i" and the "pod"......
got it -- thx, mm.
e= inside pea home, i=twin pea home
It's a type of crustacean......
sigh, another princess bride reference. Next book on my list to read...
great clues mm and amanda
Amandacath, stop playing Babble RIGHT NOW and go read "Princess Bride!"
eicopod
Rrrrg.
finally got the to 8 and 9
Yeah, I'm with Vicuna. Book first, then movie.
Actually, I think I have read it, but somehow nothing stuck. I think it's the only book on the fantasy/fairy tale 101 reading list that i don't know from front to back
Still stuck on the e...missing second through fourth letters, I suppose.
Missing an 8...... I have the co8, do8, en8, eu8 & the to8....... Help with the other plz.......
Early on in my reading career I read "The Hobbit" like three or four times, each time thinking it was my first time ever, and each time realizing about halfway through that I had, in fact, read it already...
movieman pa8/55
ty, Frances...... Had to use MoreWords......
88 left...... Think I'll take a time out........ BBL......
bye MM!
c-ya movieman
one more o - anything strange in there besides the theaters and the newspaper one? Everything else I have is fairly normal...
Can anyone clue again the drug one (co)
hmmmm- co drug one: maybe.... cryptologist's disease? (just to confuse you more)
I'm outtie w/ 177. Thx for... oh wait.
amandacath! :-D
Help please. I have one 8 missing and from the list that movieman gave it would appear to be the eu8. I cannot find it!
frances - just like the ap7/36
amandacath Many thanks - got it now
clue for do9 pls?
yw, frances. the do9 is a type of silk spelled wrong
scribble Odd spelling for a type of silk
Stumped on the co6/24 - any clues please
gran You use the xerox to make these
frances that's co6/27
I'm stuck at 188, and don't even know what to ask for. Got all the 8's an 9's - how 'bout some 7's. Missing 4 of those

and amanda :)
Thanks for that - that's me finished now!
yay gran!
scribble You're welcome. Did you remove the last letter for an 8?
yw scribble
yeah frances got the 8, then plural for the 9
if i had ap7 the eu would be quite simple. but? help, please
all right, i know the name of the silk, but how incorrectly do i need to spell it? hmm.
try making it italian, misshoax
misshoax -- add a vowel near the beginning
cheers, there were lots of ways to make it less 'italian'...
or more, depending on how you see it.
it's a yucky one, gramma. adjective having to do with stopping breathing while sleeping...
may i have a hint for the to9/72?
i have sleep apnea. but i don't see that
gramma ap7/36 ap plus opp of yes plus a vowel plus two letters that say what you do with your eyes
oohhh, my favorite clue - to6/24 for hobbits!
for the to9, that is
misshoax to9/72coverings for your lower digits
or bits of those digits
i must be totally out of it.
What's the other nine (besides the weird d)?
misshoax.....if your lower diigts were in bits they would be in p*****....add this to the to plus a vowel
misshoax The digit on the end of your foot plus bits and p*****
hello room does anyone know how many words are on the puzzle today?

amanda...think andy griffith character but change of last letter to another vowel
sha r u on bable
I'm missing one h - got 2 scottish ones, the end of arm one, and 4 with the big-point-letter - what's not there?
Morning, all... how everyone on this hot sunny day?
amanda...you can get in trouble by raising ha5/20
gramma I'm off to do errands. I hope your appointment with the doc is not too painful. Keep taking the pills

Anyone seen Faerie lately?

I don't get the pea clues...

Hobbits have hairy feet...
pea clues - latin prefixes for "equal, uniform" and "inside"

i don't get it
i'm sorry
toes
arches
feet

Who cares? I'm really going now
i understood the hobbit clue and STILL didn't get it!!!
i dint get the hobbit clue either !! but got the 8 and 9 after a while lol
the to, shirin? Probably it's a part of a shoe or boot, but that's not as much fun
bye, Frances - later.
Bye
No, Charm, I think that clue is more for the enjoyment of the people who already have the word. I couldn't get the word from it, either.
and abe, i just read down for your pizza clue, thanks!!
It's list time for me....
thanks, it is a weird word
Now for the real fun: how about the other 9????
well the sun has finaly come to Essex at last.
what was the eu clue a while back?
yw jbp. i like the explain things via food, esp as lunchtime approaches
That one really isn't fun. the do8&9 is a kind of silk spelled wrong, and I can't think of a good clue for it
Charm Just before I go - an odd spelling for a type of silk
Bye
the eu8 is just like the ap7/36, if you've got that, jbp
bye frances
ugh, no i don't have that one yet
i did just get the ap 7/40 tho
oh good - then just change the beginning
wait - wrong. ap7/36 - ap + neg + medical adj. ending?

if you have anorexia then you are anorex**...

i couldn't get the 5th letter to work out. ;-)

Cat on the keyboard, MissP?
Hi Amanda :)
bye u guys
I really don't like e-words....
I think the server where babble and sudoku are located needs to be rebooted.
I don't like e words "either" LOL
Actually I think Dr_G needs a larger server
Maybe. That might just work.
Stidmatt - Something needs to be done huh?
Yeah, it is really acting funny, even though it would cost money.
No kidding this is getting crazy. It wouldn't take my words yesterday
co 5/16 after the 6/24 duplicates, please?
Or it may just be the dictionary, which is the worst of the English language!
TO - snuggle up and get warm and c*** - stick in another vowel
hmm, I have been thinking of paying the money to go pro. Are the server problems severeenough to make it a bad idea?
TY : )
It does happen sometimes, in excepting words and the chat log mainly.
see y'all after lunch. ;-)
yw, TO - see ya jbp
See ya jbp!
Hah! slayed those e's!
WTG amanda!

TO - what glue or tape provides
neice
TY!
I have seen lots of references to a list. Is this something you write down as u encounter for future reference?
sorry, but that doesn't work anyway... "i before e...."
except after C
uncagain. check out lickety's list. there's a link on the bottom of the page
(amanda - try in the word box..not the chat : ) )
Unc - at the bottom of the page there's "friends of babble" - there you can go to angelsong's page for explanations of lists, or straight to lickety's
any clues on the J
amanda - forget it, I'm losing my mind...definitely NOT jumping into the grid now : )
ne 5/12 ne + opposite of bottom
thx, ARB - what a silly word
And of course there is no defianition in dictionary.com

My Mom just won't let me.

babbledude... sounds like something you'd wear, nearly
do8/55, 9/72 combo clue, please?
TO - it's an alternate spelling for a kind of silk
do 8/9 combo is a misspelling of a type of silk. it sounds more "italian"...
Thanks Lisa : )
vo5/18 - plural of vox
hi haz - you're back!
Yes, just briefly, before I start to make the evening meal. I haven't had time today to get properly settled into this grid.
anders - en + 4th letter & 4th vowel + where peas reside
then plural
di88, thanx!
yw
abe: i could NOT think of any dou word...ty
haz: have you clued the eights?
anyone got the si6/24?
An eight I got earlier was pa8/55 if that's of any interest?
Also to8/50.
yw to
Isn't there always interest in those?
yes thank you! i am only on the e words at present
amandacath, change the last letter of your 6/27 to the cross letter
Okay pa8/55 is the plural for pa7/40 - first three letters what you would cook in, then Scottish exclamation (three letters, guttural sound) and second vowel. Then pluralise.
i am at the en's.....7 & 8
to8/55 - foot digit and a part
great dl88, thx!
hi debb
great pa clue haz, thanks
Thanks, Haz!
TO - lat inside + pea home
You're welcome!
ty amanda let me think on it
Hey - a mets fan - urrah!
z ty
haz - ty
And to9/66 is the plural for to8/50, I've just discovered.
are these codes like 9/66 what you see when u pay?
good morning america (and other countries)
gm debbinia
No lisalou, they're a kind of shorthand code for the words. 9 letters and 66 points. A full explanation is given in Angelsong's page (look under Friends of babble at the bottom of the page)
oh right, thanks!
DONE!!!!! Must now fill empty tummy - will stick around for a little
yay amanda!!!!!!
congrats amanda!
Congratulations amanda - and I must go AGAIN to make the evening meal. I will be back to finish.
Annie! Realized yesterday that when I gave you the Enable link, i didn't mention that it's just a word list and not a dictionary - unfortunately.
WTG amanda!
see you later haz
congrats amanda
amanda, yes i saw that. i am just amazed at the babblers who get these odd, odd words.
i am so stuck on the to/8- even with the clues
things on the end of your feet + a ***** of pizza
never mind- i founf it :)
kim----foot digit + part of something
thanks
way to go amanda!
Annie - when (if!) I get those odd, odd words, it's because I remember them from previous grids, or I monkey-type them based on the number of points
amanda, that's what i do too. i also monkey type away and sometimes i see the green bar. this is very addictive. my daughter's fault, bless her.
can you please tell me what the other 9 starts with, not the to/9- thanks
I'm missing one of the last to 5's just before the hair substitute (I think) any clues?
it's a do8&9 combo, Kim - alt. spelling for a kind of silk
eu 8 please?
rycaut - between the to9 and the hair, all begin with the same 3 letters
gotcha , so I'm missing something after the last to 4
nevermind - got it
for those of us who don't know any kind of silk let alone an alternate one, are there any other clues
TO - formal def - passing or able to pass air in and out of the lungs normally
72TO eu8/55 pass air in and out of the lungs normally
any hints been given on the si 7's?
how about the sound it makes when you broke a twig
magzel - i googled a fabric dictionary and found it
si7's - 1st one: a perfect world of bad deeds? 2nd one: change last letter
ty for eu clue - i am thinking...
TO - the eu is the same as the ap7/36, if you've got that one...
ty, i do!
i cant get that eu one at all
hiya everyone!!!
Hi bex!
amandacath, great si clues
thx, anders - wasn't sure they'd work
has anyone had success with ickety's new save feature - it didn't work for me :-(
worked for me too amanda
they aren't working for me so far ...
i havn't tried it yet debbinla
evening all.
hi oggy
that eu word is making me nuts. My dictionary has a close spelling of the breathing definition, but not close enough
I'm off guys - have fun!
bye amanda, thanks for your help!
hmm, got something to take
can anyone give me a clue for the last pi 4/5
a clue for the pe-46 please
4-6
pieo
oops sorry
pi 4/5 has something to do with particles. pe 4/6- something that is going to happen?

any clues for the 8 and 9 words
hi there, Can I have a clue for the eu 8 pls?
eu8/55 is a strange word and difficult to clue. eu plus a vegetable sound alike letter. Add a negative word (two letters) then follow with an anagram of frozen water.
the eu 8 word ends in the letter after b, and the three letters before are all vowels. Sorry , if that is not clear but is all I have been able to come up with
Thanx Haz, your clue worked! Thanx to you too, Uncagain
That's good - see what I mean about a strange word?
About the eu8 word: cruel and unusual punishment...there ought to be a law...
Hey BGL, you still around?
eupic

Hello movieman!
sorry Daisy, had to go get a bucket of water for the house...
back now.
oh, np:)
Was your house on fire, stidmama?
hi movieman! haven't seen you in forever!
no Vicuna, been without running water all weekend, the well failed. I picked up the part we need, but am not electrically inclined so have to wait until Tom gets home this afternoon...
I am down to 139 words, want another 39 and then I will go play outside for a couple hours. :-) (happy thought)
Oh, what a pain! (Though luckily not as painful as a conflagration, of course.)
absolutely not as bad as a fire (dealt with one of those in a bedroom soon after we moved in -- small, but smelly -- kids don't always get the point about matches...)
Oh, they get the point about matches -- just not the point about consequences!
well, he got the point after the firemen came, and Tom came home early -- and I was a total wreck... I don't think he'll ever do something like that again!
An adventure, to say the least!
truly! and fortunately, not an expensive one... in life or property. My biggest fear is fire...
hmmm... looks like this grid is heavily "co" dependent... think I'll dive in for a while!
Ha ha! Take a deep breath!
*splash*
MOM!!! SHARK!!!
stidmatt, those aren't sharks, they're just co4/6!
hey, does anyone have a clue for ap 6/27?
hello, all.
Thanks for the clue!
ap6/27 - attach, esp like something added to a document

'Sup Charm?
Greetings All.
ah, speaking of fish...thanks vicuna, charm, and uneaixoise. a's are done
Is there a clue for the D8&9 for those of us who are fabric challenged?
'Sup everybody who just logged in. Sorry Minski.
Hey, stidmatt. (as my 4yo says:) nothing
d8/9 - Italian silk. sounds like 2 baby horses.
Minski, start with a twosome, then add the little particle that starts with p, end with first person sing. nominative pronoun
(Actually, I guess I was being dyslexic with my twosome. you'd have to reverse the vowels. Sorry.)
Hi everybody...I've tried all kinds of combinations and I can't get that d8/9 combo...
Speak Italian, lived in Italy, never heard of that silk.....
I've seen it spelled du...but still can't make it work adding the o.
The silk is usually spelled du-, not do. Try this: first three letters of what you feel when you're not sure, next four letters are a small p- particle, last letter me, and pl for the 9.
d8/9 - do + not I + 3.141 + round vowel + the knights who say **.
Let me try: first note of the musical scale + not down + charged particle + third vowel.....then pluralize it
Those clues have worked for me!
i got it, yay! thankd erda!!
nore me !!!
you're welcome; I only got it by peeking in the Scrabble dictionary
i just lose ten pounds sweating out the do 8/9. Thank you all, esp. Erda
hmm, lol, I am folling along, but charged particles elude me
got the ds. put the 1st 4 letters in to A2Z.
Charged particles io4/4
ions

Thanks for all the d8/9 clues...Finally got it.

thanx guys, still a really silly word
devo is not a word?
Erda, where did you find that weirdo word?
Devo is an 80's band with silly hats and a whip. But it isn't a word.
in the Scrabble dictionary, third edition
after pifuring out the first four letters....
the do 9 has no meaning!!!
thanks
It's also listed in www.morewords.com
pifuring = figuring

co5/18 - a group of witches
inge dont go to the o below the c go up
co5/18...a group of witches

{{{{{{{{{{faerie}}}}}}}}}}
we missed you desparately, movieman!
MM-how is the grid treating you today :)
Yes, except that my niece that is here visiting from Florida chipped her front tooth in my friend's pool. We had to go to the dentist first thing this morning and have it filled in. It was quite a chunk out of her front tooth.
ce 4/6...i have the one that rymes with what you plant
An even bigger hug for faerie!!!!!!
ouch, that sucks.
*gasp* *blush* awwwwww thanks :)
ce4/6 - like the thin fr. pancakes, minus the 'r'.
She's okay...very resilient.
Not bad, faerie, a few tricky ones, especially some of the biggies (as usual)........
sorry, which one is a plant or flavoring, is it an5/10?
i had that happen to me when i was about 6, smithchick... it did suck
Smith sorry to hear that.... :(
It happened to me too, but mine wasn't too bad...I had it filed down a little when I was an adult. Hers was too much to file so they had to fill it in.
hey smithchick sorry, got distracted. i am still missing the o (not appliance or atlantic)
thanks Charm... i love that the definition says, "see porcino"...so not helpful/

any clues on the ci- words?
abe, i'm with ya!
bye tracy
ci plus two vowels gives you an Italian word. ci plus a preposition then pluralised gives you the remaining two ci words
abe, its true about the grey boxes, I like to try and play bingo with them. any that start greyed out are free!
ci4/5 c+atomic particle , and the pl.
i have the one that rhymes with the home of the Jews...
cions
ci4/5 = Italian for bye.
oops
sorry sorry sorry
thanks Charm!
y very w
lol boreetos. my greatest satisfaction is when they are vowel boxes

thanks Haz...boy I hate it when i let those go by!
After I say "Oh me oh my" I have clearly oh4/6.
hmmm, thanks haz, i did find some "scottish sounding" ones, back to the ha's
after xeroxes and before vegitative, there's a co5/16...anyone?
It gets confusing when the letters for past tense and pluralising are right beside each other jbp
co5/16 = a nice co*** fire on a cold night, alt. spelling.
cosy?
Need a vowel between the s and y
Yes, jbp, but spell it wrong.
(Even wronger!)
i didn't even see the y there... thanks guys!
Hullo everyone. I'm just popping in to say I've bowed to convention and chosen a new icon in honour of "stationEry" day. Don't think I'll keep it long cos I find my regular treble clef sign more disinctive. Today I won't have time to babble because Our son is visiting and we so rarely have him with us that every moment is precious. See you all later.
the first de one I have is the college official.. any ones before it?

which finished the Ps for me
don't have those te ones

the other ne 4/6 is one of the pe 4/5 ones backwards...
te6/21...the last face card + the card that can be used with the 2,3,4 or the J,Q, K
smithchick, I'm not sure. If it's the name of a bug spary in america you're getting at, I don't think I'd get it from that clue, anyway :s

Hi Stid, and thanks!

Oh, now I understand the envy part, helen!
thx for asking jb - i am turning into the world's worst speller :)
hi smith!
the roses are white on the backside of the petals and crimson inside. GORGEOUS! I will try to take a pic to use for tomorrow's icon (I'll just say I'm nuts about flowers...)
hiya smith, hi to
What message would be better than a massage? "you have just won a lifetime's worth of chocolate of your choice..."
looking forward to that stid, I can't seem to grow roses, they never make it
or a lifetime of massages....
sorry about the muggy -- I don't do well in that kind of heat. dry heat or damp cold, but not hot damp....
I'm sure the picture is worth 1000 words, looking forward to seeing it!
now that's a toughie, but i think i would take the lifetime of massages
Hi again TO...I've got my head buried in the list. I had about 25 to go but I've spent way too much time on here today.
Is Barrie in BC? I saw a thing on TV a year ago I tried and seems to work. I take my banana peels and shove them just under the soil surface near my roses. The potassium leaches out slowly and keeps them happy. Also, they are in the protected, warmer (but not hot) areas of the yard.
well everyone - i must go! see yu tomorrow if the grid is manageable - which means less than 200...smith do you need any clue?
Later, my hearties, gotta go to SuperFresh now! I need the walk, takes about 10 minutes to walk there and back. I'll pop on later, and see what the BEST messages are!
bye to
C U, TOwl!

ap6/24 and past tense ap7/40 - add a 'showy' po4/5
stidmama place side by side

thanks Haz and Frances!
an5/10 is a spice, with a flavour similar to licorice.
still need that last co 5/16 the one after the 6/24 but before the 4/8
en7/40 - the last thing, fourth vowel, home for a pea, then pluralise.
Greetings! may I have a clue for the eu8/55, please?
The co5/16 adds a vowel to a usual warm and comfortable four letter co word
chic - this is not a quick clue! eu, vegetable sounding letter, negative word (two letters), rearrange ice.
Haz you are a star thank you...i would never have got those thank you
thanks haz got it
You're welcome, mo. I'm trying to get my last 8 words but as usual can't resist the clue sharing!
Nice clue haz

dl88 and Haz thank you both
yw
Will I need the fish if I ask for a clue for co 8?
Not really - it relates to a sticking together quality.
no Munner, it's a word that holds things together...
Hi everyone, just about to start the grid. HOw is it?

I need the de 4/5 right after the end of the pool that's over my head...

anders - change the last vowel

hmmm, i am on later in the day than i usually am and these clues seem to depend on having been here for earlier clues...
i didn't understand the earlier clue for the si's - red ochre?
hurshy, you'll just need to catch up with us :)
ah, I see. Tom does similar things with some net-produced movies and news. hi hurshy!
well ls1's question will help me :)
Haz, thank you, thank you for the eu8 word, I followed your clue and found the word, would never have found it without your help
hi stidmama
and I hate to sound totally blind, but one of the first do 4/5 eludes me. I have the mama deer, and the Italian "lady" ...
any clues for do 9/72
Glad it worked periwinkle!
stid - to put on
ty ls1!
or...mafia bosses;)
and done with the Ds and off to get a kid from school. bbl
do 9 is plural of do 8
can i get clues for the two si 7's?
I don't have the do8, may I please have a clue
Tally ho, all. Long time no chat.
Is1 and I still need help with si 7s please
tx munner
and me...
and me
yes do 8 clue please
Have pity on us four beggars!
yeah "dopecode" didn't work for the do8 so i need that one as well
shorty - do + op. of down + charged particle + 3rd vowel
do8 is an alternate spelling of a kind of silk
taking a break from melting to say hi
do 8 = do + opposite of down + change end letter on i 4
shorty and hurshy it's a kind of silk fabric
Munner si7/32 first three another word for to do wrong plus ending of word forshort sightedness. Change the last vowel for another word
si7/32 - add a negative word (two letters) then a three letter pastry concoction. For the other one, change the last vowel
see what i get for being poor and not wearing silk?
Hello again {{{{{Shorty}}}}}
dl88 and munner, thanks for the clues for the do8 and 9
FAERIE!!!
what does the other 9 start with and may I please have a clue

You're welcome Munner just hope it made sense
Shorty you have mail.

pi 5/12, not the instrument?
hurshy pa7/40 and pa8/55 Mexican sugar. Change the last vowel of the 7 for another word
What? Chai isn't a word? But I drink it all the time!
pa = pa+spanish night, others similar
i agree bgl
se 6/24? fishy or not?
ty frances and anders
semi-fishy, munner, but not the most fishy ever
Pleasure hurshy
anders, change the end letter for pi 5/12
clue forop
clue for op 6/24?
sorry about the other message.
why does that not work for me?
emsuing, it comes past tense with the fish
anders, it is a pl of a pi4/5...
op6/24 - past tense of the door not being closed
emsuing~ what you did to the door
emsuing op6/24 you do this to an envelope to get the letter out
ty
is 6/24 please?
is + vowel + peas in a ***
oh for heavens sake, doh! thanks.
Is morse co** the first co?
it's the first i have but i need 7 mroe C words :)
ve 5/16? please
THanks, hurshy, not sure that helps me figure out what I'm missing, though. :)
logically BGL, i believe it must be, i've just tried the coa's and none work, and nothing else can come before that.
It is, BGL.
Thanks. Now I know where I'm stumped
But hurshy, logic quails before the grid.
ap 7/36 please?
oh, good, thanks vi, cause i just realized the flaw in my logic - i only tried 4's :)
ap7/36 - ap + negative + vowel + adj ending
ah but wait my logic is not flawed after all because if BGL has the list, as it sounds like she does, then she would not have asked that unless the first co WERE a 4.
tx vicuna
ap 7/36 (stupid word) ap+opp of yes + anagram of ice
Now that we've firgured that co mystery, anyone care to help with the co6/24 that is between the first co and its plural?
The flaw in the logic, at least for me, is that many a time I have logically gone through every combination, only to find an illogical combination...
tx anders
ve 5/16, please?
Well, BLG, you know the first four letters, and the last two are more vowels.
Add two vowels to the co4/6
no but vi i went through every combo, even unpronounceable ones
thank you, anders
That is a dumb word!
seem to be a plethora of dumb words today.
Thanks, that was one of those combos I thought I'd tried.
jeffer, i guess alt spelling of ve 4/7 - (girl in "the cage", original star trek pilot)
ty hurshy what's star trk?
help for the io 6& 7?
you did not just ask me that jeffer. i am just going to pretend you did not say that.
took away an electron, anders, and past tense
easy hurshy, easy
just kidding - but haven't watched more than a handful of those ...
ioned
It doesn't matter, hurshy! there are probably still more, even when you've tried every one.
ooops
(see ls1, i knew jeffer was just baiting me)
phew!
would never - but who watches star trek *that* old?
vi...not in this case. coah, coam, coav, coan, coae, coai...no other combo could come before morse co**!!!
*clutches heart*
anders io is what air cleaners do
anyway i guess no clue now from hurshy!
i'm sure i'll need a fish, but clues for the se?
but jeffer, i gave you a clue, i said alt spelling of ve4/7
the south tried to do this from the union, unsuccessfully, ls1
tx hurshy
ah, thanks so much ls1
np anders
is there a vo cause all mine so far are va and ve...and if so how many letters?
but the star trek part confused me
one vo
vo 5/18
so ignore the star trek part, jeffer.
ok
jeffer, you are hilarious (if somewhat shocking)
vena oops
lol
I give up on se 6.
munner - just clued it for ls1 - the south tried to do this from the union... atlanta burned... it wasn't pretty...
munner - se + ce4/6
oh i see the connection now - all the monkey -types from star trek ... ty hurshy
NE5/12?
*clutches heart again*
Is 1 , with your clue I didn't even need to look at the board, AND I live in the Confederate South since 1978!
i'll try to make it up to you hurshy
ne plus the highest point
minski ne + opp of bottom
Thanks. Wierd word.
jeffer, were you perhaps thinking of planet of the apes?
se6--to do what the southern states did in the american civil war
That should have read thanks hurshy via Is 1
time for a break, bbl
Done with the Ns.
and done
co8, do8, en8, pa8, to8, missing?
Lucky Minski. 3 or my remaining 4 words are those aggravating n's.
pa8 plural of pa7
Which 3? I have them all.
yes shorty - i meant i have those 5 and i want to know what the 6th one starts with.
eu8
How about a clue for ni 6 to start?
yikes, am i gonna need a clue then, for eu8?
STILL WORKING ON THE CONFEDERATE CLUE
ni6 - bit (like bit by a little dog)
Unless you have ESP!!!
ok then, clue me up
Has anyone got the final pe4/6 please
Oh, man, I should have had that ni 6 when I had the sn 7
ni6 = There is an expression to ni something in the bud. Past tense the ni word.
How about the first two na's?
well im done talk to yall wednesday
i guess the last pe4/6 is for something to be in process - your loan is pe4/6ing
sorry gotta pay attentiontyo baby bbl8r
congrats shorty
can someone pls give a clue for the pi 5/14 pls and ty
YAY shorty!
Thanx hurshy I have got that one is there another one ??

Hi, Stid. Just nodding in to say hullo to the pals I usually babble with about this time--no babblingb today because of the rare and auspicious visit of our only son, for whom I have to cook mightily. ee you all later.
hey - I know it's a long puzzle today... is it a difficult one?
nah, I now work for a market research company -- totally unconnected but it pays the bills
hetty, may you enjoy your visit, and I will see you later/tomorrow!

Hi all! Finished a while ago... will exchange clues for any advice on how to re-insert my space bar back on my laptop! (seriously... it popped off and I can't getit backon)
hi jen. sorry about your spacebar
hi Jen!
jen, there should be a couple little metal pieces that will fit into grooves on the back of the key.
Just pushing me further toward the buying of a new one abe!! Hi stidmama!
hi Jen...no advice on the spacebar :(...all my brain energies are channeled into trying to monkey out that eu clue!
Good evening, all. Hey Jen - have you tried a hammer? ? ? (Just kidding.....)
jen, i find swearing at inanimate objects vastly useful. otherwise carefulexamination of underside of bar may be in order to divine secrets
got it...thanks stid!
I'm tempted Janiece!
or your spacebar has a couple little pieces that come off it and look like hooks. those little hooks will fit into a groove-like place that you can see (if you are in good light), then a nice firm shove on the key will seat it.
deep
jen, i'm missing other keys and have found it easier to just leave them off. probably different with the space bar
The 2nd na 6/24 is making me insane; clue pls?
deice
Did you get the eu kristin? I was prepared to pratically spell it out! :)
oops
Finally got the eu thanks last word the last an6/21
x2
YAY bonkler's here! now just monkey the to 5/12 and the ve 5/16 if you don't mind...

2nd na6/24 is the Brit term for a diaper
Jen, my husband is suggesting duct tape.....
phandmd, word for diaper in UK
Thanks, I had the plural, I didn't think to do singular.
that eu is real, but quite unfair, in my very humble opinion!
ve 5 is ve 4 with doubling of the vowel
Yippee Fireworks!! Have a couple of minutes for clues for anyone
to5/12 is a er. on the spelling of a hat... the solar to/4 (like a pith helmet)

The vi4, BTW, is not in today's puzzle
Okay, that's it... I am shutting off the computer and trying to slam this space bar back into submission!! Probably see you all tomorrow!!!

WOW, never would've got that without such a clue - Fran rocks!!
yw firefly!
once you see the word, you probably have seen or heard it somewhere, right?
i'm still having trouble with the to9
i can't say that i have Fran...sorry
eo 5/10?
folks what are your thoughts on this one? worth starting with less than 3 hours to go?
featherbee, it ends the same as a medieval piece of men's clothing, the cod*****
to9 is compound word, first is digits on your foot, second is a p word that's in the grid
wow, do8--nice clue, Fran! :)
that do word is sooo weird!
Featherbee, foot digit + part of something, pl.

tring to do the last po 6
pe 6/16 is a fruit
anders to go against op + po4, swap the first vowel
part of a foot and a bit of something
anders, sounds like an OP word that means against, but change first letter
dino to* + gangsters would always carry a pi% for protection, see.
got it
This goes so fast! When I tried to thank Bonkler, what I typed disappeared twice, so you're not alone, debinnia. Seems ok now tho.
oops pa5 ;-p
dino, if you put portions of pizza on your foot digits you could call them to
dino, it's a compound word... to* + pi5/14..the 9 is plural
franmag & bonkler ty, great clues
oh jeez pi5 d'oh
gthanks folks!

there is an en8/55 cathy
it's the plural of en7/40, it's a sea mite of sorts, en+be active+end of apple i***+ plural
I must be brain dead, but I have everything except co8,50 and I can't give it with the stick together clue. I keep wanting to enter a word it won't take
and a co8 the state of things sticking together, don't have the en8
I need some CO words. The 4/5 (I have what a criminal does and how we deal with things). Also need the 5/14, 6/27 and 6/24 in order towards the bottom of the list.
There's a co8 hinted below, stick to it.
help with po 4/5 I have got the hawiian food one
co8 + word that sounds like an open sore
rumple, co+not she+not daughter+add an i before last two letters, hope that helps!
phan, a small lake minus the D

combined education for the co 4/5 plural it also
no before that; before what a person of grace has
oh, a person that writes sonnets

co5/14 is the first part of city co***hagen
take away ca 4/5
Good evening babblers all. I decided I couldn't play today on account of our son's visit, but now he's gone I'm looking at the grid and seeing all kinds of weird words in it--a do9 and an eu8 and a co8. But I know I'd never finish, so I won't start.
hi hetty!
jeffer, de+sugar plant
ne5/12 anyone?
Hi franmag, how are you? Are you coping with these anomolous words?
the 3rd or 4th po 4/5?
tks fran...re the en8 clue, but the end of the apple part has me thrown for a loop
ty FranMag
the long onew are fine, still trying to find the 4,5 and 6s!!
ne 5/12-- e = opposite of bottom
Hi Hetty -- what's this new icon? I'm really just lurking, having been in Vic all day. Great company tho.
ne + (think up)
thxs franmag. the CO 4/5 I need is the last one in the list. I have the one that has to do with dorms and money and criminals
cathy, apple's mp3 player i***, you only need the last 3 letters
peas hang out in o***
That's what always happens to me. I generally get stuck with 2 or 3 words I can't find and they're always 4's and 5's.
um po***
gee, po**!
the last one bleugirl is an anagram of the money
ep 5/14 please?
that's it fran. thx!
sounds like a girl's name
no CO 6/27 and 6/24 bottom of list
jeffer, rhymes with an5/12
po6/21 anyone?
po 6/21 po + te 4/4
between CO 5/14 and CO 5/16 towards the bottom not at the bottom
OMG...thank you Fran... I finally figured it out..
duh, huh
cathy, it's definitely a wierd one
thanks jeffer!
Franmag, I think the po6 must be Irish whisky--add the end of Doreen to a cooking vessel
hey everyone - 32 left & still trying to go listless - am i nuts?
thanks hetty!
no thank you FranMag
sort of helen, but we still love you!! ;-)
lol fran - thx
Not as nuts as me, nit even starting and finding more words in ten minutes than I usually find in an hour.
CO 6/24 and 6/27 please
brb, baby needs a bottle, still have 6 to go!!
co6/24 means to duplicate something...the 27 is past tense of the same
lol hetty - how the pressure chokes us
Co 6/24 duplicated
oops...more specifically co6/24 means duplicates of an original
nm me
co6/27 is duplicated an original
de 5/14 the second one please?
de5/14 before take off, they have to de*** th ewings
jeffer, like six-sided thing you roll, but add an E in the middle
deice

hi, all i was out all day, then the 'lectricity was out.
thanks melon and stidmama!
i'll take it as a joke Sam.... but i never trusted a woman with a man's name ;)
If you type a word and hit Enter instead of the Add button, the cursor stays put.
cathyar - does it count if i just finished typing the word in?
not when yer already in chat tho jilli
OK i was thinking what a weird way to spell the plural of die, thennnnn i realized - defrost. and dats defrosting on de cake.
ne5/12?
lol melonhead
shouldn't i get one more freebie?
hi again jillibus! are you having fun yet? :-)
ok I have a question. The plural of the de reqires you to use a litter twice, or I'm missing something...
tx stid - totally addicted
second to last de6/24 anyone?
sorry jeffer
some of the de words go diagonally across the grid...
never mind, forgot the plural!!
re the J word, which i monkeyed, i want to smack the puzzle and tell it that if it's not in dictionary.com, it doesn't count as a word! End rant. :)
i need one more, and it's a 4 ! ep 4/5 please?
can anyone help me with the two SI 7/32s?
don't know stid, just the hubby trying to help out the wife while she put donw the babe, I'll wee what she thinks
nice to meet you mr. firefly!
that's an easy one to monkey-type jeffer
jeffer, take first 3 letters of the words before it and make it plural
Hear hear etalyyr; noticed that a few times
u2
si 7 are the same except the last letters. first three letters are the bad things people do... mortal si* + round vowel + name of an actress zadora (1st one, change last vowel for second)
sorry abt the 2 y's, etal

Fran, did that help or do you need more?
stid, going to work on it
stid, do you have en5/12?
sorry, ne5/12
te 6/21?

two cards: number + "one"
thanks stid!!
sorry phan, that was for you
thanx stid, I wondered at first. Good clue, it took a sec by t I got it.
got that vo, thanks stid
:-) next challenge?
pi5/12 after plural instrument?
plural the pi 4/5 before the instrument
can i get a hint for the first pa7/40?
sheesh, why didn't i try that? thanks stid!
the first and second pa 7 are the same but diff last vowels. looks like a type of peanut brittle... pa +spanish "night" is the second
oh, hmm. i have that one stid.
the pa 8 is the plural of the second pa 7 ;-)
okay, misshoax, change the last vowel for one that comes earlier in the alphabet...
much obliged stid..as always.
you are very welcome... as always. :-)
yay! finished!!
YAY Fran!
which leaves the pa5/12 before it...argh!
firefly? how are things coming along for you?
pa 5/12 was in the grid a few days ago. French for "countryside"
mr or mrs?
or you could see it as saying good things about people without the R...
either one, which one are you now? LOL
GON OUT. BACKSON. BISY. BACKSON. J. <vbg>
we're both now stid!
stid, thanks.
???? later jillibus?

I would have been boasting :D
getting in gear!
ty, Fran!
*sending thinking vibes*
my gears are grinding, and stalling
ooh, feeling suddenly alert
need some grease on those gears firefly?
pe5/14? anyone?
i'd grease em with the list, but 250 words just seems like too many to try and sort out
pe 5/14: opposite of war?
(the second one).
or the nut?
done. finally. it was getting to be not fun!
yay harpjane!!
YAY harpjane!
the nut. like me. got it. stid you rock.
ooh, you just gave me 4 words!
LOL, I have my knitting here beside me too, if we need more domesticity!
all i have next to me is a box of toffee coated macadamia nuts covered in luscious milk chocolate (text from the box)
i'd give my right arm for some chocolate right now...
that's enough, Fran! I'll be right there!
*tosses one or two to firefly*
too bad virtual chocolate tastes like air! :)
this puzzle was just a little bit too long for a work day. hope tomorrow's is shorter. I really miss it when I don't babble, and I HATE to start one I can't finish!
but nice that it's calorie-free!
*tosses another one or two to stidmama*
are those like Toffifay Fran?
I agree harpjane! I am tired of the really long ones.
mmmmmmm Fran is nice! :-)
here, here!
probably similar firefly, but with macadamia nuts and less toffee
Yeah, I am done. I can give a couple of clues...
YAY phandmd!
*tosses some to helen who's been listless this whole week*
i've never had Toffifay, but it just sounded similar to the commercial for it
yay phandmd!!
okay, since Phandmd is here to clue for a moment, I will zip off and change for tomorrow...
hello helenkeller!
neither have i firefly, but i can imagine what they are like from the commercial too!
the last pi4/5?
hi helen!
misshoax, pi+opp of off
well fran - i don't know about today ( day #2, lol) 25 left & weary - biggies gone, 1 7 left, 5 6's - it ought to be simple, no?
pi+opposite of off?
hiya firefly :)
hey lib - ooooh personalized stationery, nice

sorry for the lame clue, couldn't come up with anything better
I keep saying "that's a word?"--slow brain day for me...

the east coast is amazing, heading to victoria next week, the left coast
hacienda is ALMOST in the puzzle ...woulda been a good word!!!
moving there bonkler? or on vacation?
I have one left and I think it is the DE 4/5 that is in between two DE 6/24s. Any advice?
I'm still bummed about depeche :[
as far west as I've been is northwestern ontario
ping, head of a university or college
dealing with my dad's estate. wouldn't mind moving there, ascape humid summer and snow deep winter in one go
used to go to Baysville on weekends...just outside of huntsville

ya... victoria sounds nice...sorry about your dad
ping, sounds just like it
aww, bonkler - that's tough, hope you don't have probate problems :)
thanks, it has been a strange few weeks. babble makes for a soothing distraction
lovely "mountains"
it's a sandy tract or dune by the seashore
thanks, phandmd. like last night, you pushed me over the finish line!
good! Now I am off to bed.
probate should go smoothly, of course i've nevcer done this before so if there's a way for it to go wrong, i'm sure it will
is 6/24?
probate can be a long process (i'm a legal secretary) if the estate is substantial or complicated
helen, it's a creature from the sea, ends like en7/40
r u executor?
my sisters and i, three of us. mostly its just the condo and an even split of proceeds.
i had to do it, fortunately no problems with probate, but it's not like they leave everything all taken care of - so many headaches just finding their files, dealing with respective insurances, you keep at it, it will only make you stronger (after it saps you completely) :)
Fran is a plethora of help tonight!
well...that doesn't sound too bad...different from province to province, but sometimes the probate court can really drag things out...i wish you well with it
thx fran - got it!
i figure if i help when i can firefly, then when i need help there will be someone there for me
down to 15 -the excitement mounts!
thanks cathy. appreciate the thought
great helen, you should see what they look like! atalante had links last night
terminal year taxes and such to be done to date of death, etc.
go helen!!
hi again all, YAY Ping!
do unto others Fran :)
she's back!
expenses are usually paid out of the estate before divying things up between beneficiaries
I am sorry you are dealing with estate details bonkler, and sorry about the who...
exactly firefly! :-)
na 6/24? (first one)
like the 5/14, but different last vowel and plural
well so far so good, we've covered a lot of ground. i felt sorry for the daft person at the cable company that wanted a death certificate to cancel the stupid cable tv. i couldn't believe that, fear i was a tad rude
the 5/14 chips
my dad stidmama
it can be a very difficult time for those left behind...as if the mourning isn't difficult enough!!! dealing with the red tape is a drag
thx again fran !
good evening everyone!
hi kierlex
hi kierlex
hiya kier :)

last try at the clue -- the silk is normally spelled starting dupi****
then you put the o in after the d and end it with oni; then plural...
