Looks to me as if this grid is going to be a riot
hetty!!
james just told me if i needed anything from the bathroom to get it now, cause "it's gonna stiiiiiiiiiiiiink....."
There is so much from that movie that I'd like to quote right now, but it's not appropriate... :) Like 5 phrases just flew through my head and i couldn't say any of them!
you said a word!
i had the same problem with pulp fiction
wow, even animated, wasssssup
I didn't . I never spoke.
ok then.
my husband downloaded it for me.
lol hetty
so wass, can he come over & download some action stuff for me?
i am so pleased with one of the words cause it really shouldnt be considered a word. (wa 5/28)
that'd be quite a drive helen

ok saint (that's not agreement, those are the letters)

ah... of course. i like that veggie! ever had it fried?
hubby's saying it's just an animated gif file. you can use anything from the internet
that's a very yummy veggie, i've grown them! :)
saint franny that would be too easy this early in the game.
nice icon ls1 - i spent quite some time looking for a no mardi gras poster i have from 1970 something, framed in the basement -but couldn't find it
lots of names in the grid today
i like that veggie too. lived in missouri for a while. they are always deep fried there
it was pretty easy melon. i think i prob just need to go to bed soon

thanks lickety!
aha! from my favorite movie! it once cured a depression for me!
helen - i've never been to nola- a shame now that it will never be the same
Thanks, lickety. Dont know how you can do it so fast. Guess that's the reason for your name.
are you referring to my icon melon?
o***--o4/8 was your favorite movie?
yeah
so wass, instead of going to google images, where would you get an action shot (ps. i'm a computer i idiot)
so wass, instead of going to google images, where would you get an action shot (ps. i'm a computer idiot)
ok, i was just going to ask how lickety gets those clues up so fast - they really do the Whole puzzle That quick???
lo, lo, lo, liba - the big lebowski
no, it's a computer program
ls1 -my sister used to live there, so i've been there a ALOT, but never for mardi gras- been there quite a few time for new year's eve though, kinda the same nuttiness
got a 7 :)
so am i. he says you can find them all over the place. he was on a motorcycle forum and some guy had it as his avatar
ah, ok. tx leslie. i mean, this game already makes me feel stupid as it is... gaw. ;)
lol, mel

haha it also takes the ro*** tutty fresh and fruity breakfast
<<<< "Did you ever find Bugs Bunny attractive when he put on a dress and played girl bunny?"
did ya make your decision yet MM?
hetty - sorry for lack of reply - I really just get the clues published and then get back to work. Answer is that I spent alot of time writing a program that can produce the clues in under a minute. Hardest thing for meis to find the minute just after flip time ;-) I do try and add extra stats and features when i can
you won't be one of them we vote on will you? i mean, you'll be a given if you decide to do it - right?
love it! "Shawing!"
froelica - i actually live near aurora, illinois (schwing!)
big THANK YOU, as always, lickety
Lickety - Hi and ((((HUGS)))).
why thank you.
That's awesome Leslie.
thank you to all! I love to provide! Have a great babble - Nice smallish one again.
ok, whoever said this grid is full of names has got me on a Bad track! there's no friend of 'mindy' on here, and there isn't a certain shi-shi designer. :(
is aurora as boring as they make it seem?
it is actually a pretty big city - 150K people, i think? it's not very entertaining, though.
haha saintfranny
hey, and marcellas, do i get that signed pic???? :) *purty please*!!!
and i've never seen a band there called the sh*tty beetles
i can't beeleev there's 5 M words - baffling.
there's a word to describe your dad in here, sarah (co 5/16)
haha. "man, they suck"
i've got 2 m words melonhead....
so.... it's not just a clever name?
yeah, that's him! Or as you guys may know him jimmythefish. Majorly co 5/16
oh yeah
i always thought that crucial taunt sucked
lol wass
Dreamweaver..
i believe you can get me through the niiiiiii-iiiiight
why don't you go talk to hu?
i dont think i know ANYONE my age that doesnt know that movie by heart
just got a second M - a gaelic spelling of a taffeta
that and breakfast club. memorized
"calmer than you...."
"I'm finishing my coffee"
and the princess bride. but that's kind of classic.
another chicago area movie wassup
oh, the princess bride is another one...and of course big lebowski and pulp fiction and napoleon dynamite
yup. and for me shaun of the freakin dead!!
oh right, ls, because it's a john hughes movie
"it really pulled the room together"
haha
"I'll pull the trigger until it goes click"
Ok Marquee - did you just hit and run me or what?! ;)
i loved shaun of the dead. only saw it once though. it's on my netflix list
i could watch that movie probably three times a week and never get bored with it
all right, i think i'm going to call it a night. have a great night folks! have fun storming the castle!
3 rd M - small, misspelled, feminine
nighty poo
unfortunately, i seem to be watching a lot more kid movies lately. that's why i can add toy story, lilo and stitch, finding nemo...to my list of memorized movies
goodnight leslie
good nite leslie :)
i can do me some finding nemo
hi again everyone.. back from reading the news and paying bills.... depressing all around!
4th M word - annoying meets manic extraterrestrial
sounds thrilling!
one should avoid the news at all costs
does anyone want to spell erotic besides me??? LOL
i'm off. see you later!
I keep seeing cartoon
karob needs an icon! :)
was reading/watching about that abducted baby in texas. weird story
yes, i do... but i haven't figured it out yet!!!
i keep wanting cooty to be a word
me, carob, me! now off to bed (odd segué) was hoping for 50 words 1st 30 minutes - 5 minutes too long & 5 words short {sigh}
night sarah
karob - just do a google image search for whatever pic you want, save it to your computer, then grab it when you edit your profile
good nite wass :)
it's really easy karob, it took me about 23 seconds!
me too kierlex, cooty that is
yes, but i'm older and slower!!! lol
rier
prob not that much older. i am old, too!
you, definitely are NOT old
my birthday is on june 10 and i will be 39 so i am feeling OLD
i just realized i said a word earlier... }:]
my daughter will be 30 this year, trust me YOU are not old
ohhhhh kierlex - just you wait til next year. ohhh that's a fun one to hit. ................not.
i know! i am already aggravated about 40. And my hubby is 3 years younger than me...
you
jfrdhdbfng
cooty SHOULD be a word!
lyier
ummm...
and mork and dirk and darko and and and
mine is over 6 years younger than me kier! ohh how i lov the talks that come up when a song comes on that played when i was in college, and he was in.... .GRADE SCHOOL!
yoysosneedherd
they say life begins at 40!! thats what they tell you to keep you from finding the nearest bridge!!!!! LMAO
lol karob...
saintfranny, oh i know... it's not quite that far apart but still enough to think, jeez, i was 15 and you were not yet 12!!!!
Well my other half is 12 years' younger than me. Time I went to bed, I guess Bye folks
nite
karob - i've discovered that what they mean is: life ebgins at 40 because that's when you start having to replace the parts with new ones
night Jac
i have a french paper due tomorrow and a history paper due thursday, neither of which i started, and yet..... i babble
i am lucky though, nobody thinks i am even 30. honestly, people can't believe i have been married for 15 years and think i am 24-27. I guess that is good =)
true, helen, what does sag or fall off; turns gray
i'm lucky i got thru college way before i had access to a computer, esp with all these gadgets you younguns have now. i woulda Never actually studied with a Book!
froelica, i am sure that deep in the back of your mind you are working on your papers subconsciously and when the time comes, the brilliance will flow
yep, first thing to go at 40 is the eyes
and what is with the long eyebrow hairs that seem to start growing like 2 inches long it seems
ZONK!
i know. i've just perfected the act of extreme-last-minute-writing. and i get a's so, babble on
lol kier - that was a really nice thing to say :)
my eyes went when i was 5
omg helen - i'm going for an eye test tomorrow. am starting to think i need some help - things up close are starting to be fuzzy
finally found a 7; co7/32
kierlex, thats probably true, i do that a lot
the subconscious thingy, not the long eyebrow hairs...... :)
i still do that even at my job. otherwise if i have too much time to work on something i get too involved in making it perfect adn re-writing and looking for just one more thing to include and blah blah
yep. simple is better
as it was explained to me saint, this happened to 90% of the population because the muscles holding the cornea weaken with age, & for almost everyone this happens between 38 -42!
get ya some contacts franny
nior
why isnt "tock" a word??? what's this world coming to
they told me to just get the cheapo reading glasses & come back when 200 wasn't working anymore
hmm. well guess i'll see what they say. Oy
gl fran
wasn't tock a word in the last one?
i swear they keep chaning the enable dictionary to keep us on our toes
at least DH says i'll be cute with glasses - he likes the 'nerdy' type like tina fey.
isn't that sweet
root
my hubby sure likes my glasses, i just got new ones. i usually wear contacts tho cuz my eyes are 20X600 and that sucks
that's 2 now karob! ;)
can you tell i have brain freeze...... LOL
haha
hard day at the dentist office!!!
karob if you are going to type words in chat coudl you at least type ones i don't have! =)
no lie kier... lol
i'm just glad that that WAS a word
i cant believe there are 20 c words. i only have 17 and i don't even know what half of them mean
i want to spell erotic and erect!!!!! what is the theme anyway
me too. thought i was the only sicko, karob
omg - all this talk of eye exam - directly fits in with one of the words on here!
karob, and i keep seeing the 'c' word...
i keep typing it. knowing it isnt really there
i wasn't gonna say that kier
and yet, i persist..
karob, the i*** theme is Masquerade Ball, if that's what you were asking....
well, i am as foul mouthed as a truck driver as my hubby says. and he is a cop so he is hardly a pure angel
good, i was startinf to thing mabe it was sex, or porn
i use that word for my next door neighbor kierlex. i Hate her. ugh. don't hate many in this world, so the ones i do, Deserve it!
lol karob
the ic** theme has nothing to do with the puzzle tho ;)
k, seriously now, why is wa 4/12 a word and not tock?
yes i save that word for a very few people... that and the tw_t word!
i think the "TW" work is tame
yes but it is not a word you hear a lot so it gets peoples attention =)
it sounds dirtier though, hygenically speaking, to me tho
did you see 'Chicago' the movie? That one song 'nobody's got no class'?
no, i didn't
ohh, it was just kind of funny and uses the TW word and a bunch of others...
I have never used the cu next tues. word-- so degrading
well, a word is just a word in my opinion. i don't like to give words too much power
this babble is kicking my booty tonight
me too. think it's time to call a night b4 i get a headache from it. i'm good with 61 so far tho. nite babblers
actually one of the y words is the same as the CU and TW words if anyone wants a hint =)
maybe this is a sex themed babble...
gnite santfrannt

damnit our new neighbors smoke and my windows are open and i want to scream
hey everyone! was i being annoying last night?

did you get the y4/6?
if i was, i am really sorry!!! i didnt realise that i was being annoying! so can you please forgive me!!
as in "days of yo**" ?
y4/6 sounds like the long haired greek musician guy
ohhhh, got it!
Sure can, Maddie, and will. Let's play together and have fun ;)
and thanks for days of...
now i can rest easy that my last word added was not tu**
maddie - I don't think it was you.
no prob kier
No, it started with Maddie, but it got bad with lucinda.
think i'll turn in, looks like hubby already did, except on the couch
Men and couches... such a good match :) Sleep well, firefly.
yep sprite - night!
well if it was me, then i am really sorry!!!!! and will you please forgive me!!

Hello Everyone!
hi Preethi
hi
Hi Preethi. I keep trying to enter 'nocturn'.
Hows the grid today? How amny words?
134 words and so far it is fun.
thats great. Im at 29 words
I am at 50, took some time to make a fitting i4.
i got riot and taco... theres 2 words for ya guys:)
Please do not post words in the log, edendaman. We like to find them ourselves.
hints are okay, but please don't TELL us the actual words. It spoils it for the rest of us
Sprite you should have an a5/20 for your i4 :)
Hehehe :) Thanks !
clue for the i4?
The little picture next to our names, Preethi.
Got it sprite
morning all :)
Hey miametro :)
hey sprite :)
morning mia
what's the 8-letter word? Any clues?
hey fmitch. up early today?
FMitch, if they would take the A5 away from me and give it to me again, wouldn't that be a Re7? But won't take :(
the 8 is an no--a kind of moth
Always up eary just popped into babble land for 5 mins to see who is around before I start work.
i agree sprite. maybe it's a hyphenated one?
Just give me 5 minutes alone with that enable dictionary.
LOL sprite
I keep wanting to re**** my clothes :)
thanks kateg!!!!
Hey Kateq! What's the two letters after "no" for the 8?
to do with the evening
the no begins with a four letter prefix meaning night
czes, that would be spelling out too much of the word. Think night moth.
hmmm...
Can't get it. :-(
Cat, I hate to do it once, much worse to redo it ;)
LOL, true !
The ancient dismissal A6 of yesterday has come back right away today, did you see? ;)
I hadn't noticed. lol, but thanks! :)
not yet sprite, but I will look!
Yesterday I told someone to remember the word, because it would be back. Never thought it would be this soon, lol.
I think it was me, and guess what, I forgot lol
urgh. there are too. many. vowels. in this puzzle. nemisis!
There is a great (dutch) book about a Tiuri.
could I please have a clue for that A6..Sprite
helenary: it's a dismissal from the Shakespear times. Ar + flexible connection between body parts minus first letter.
Now I remember sprite!
clue for the 8 letter word...think of a word that means to get a tidbit of knowledge...the moth word ends the same way as this word
let's see how long I retain that info :)
wow..great clue..did t without even looking at the grid!!
Babble will remind you occasionally, Cat ;)
:) I am sure it will!
oint
lol
ha, still can't get that 8. oh well.
oops
oh, got it :)
Good morning all! Small grid today - what's it like? Anyone know today's theme?
i always said if i was going to be an x-man my name would be "nocturno", and it's almost in the grid today! hehe.
hello every one...hi miss ABS
miametro: you are close to the 8. Start out the same. Use as ending a word for "empty, unfilled" minus first letter.
hi aleksia
yeah, i just got it :) that's what reminded me of it, lol.
Just found a beautiful 9. But babble won't let me enter it. What about a highway especially for big cars?
Aleksia... ms scarllet wont apreciate u TALKIN
hi edendaman
tock isn't in the dictionary? as in, tick tock?
Wondered about the same thing, miametro.
may i have some clues
hiya
your
argh!
I'm struggling with the clue for the eight...
Hint... a word that is worth 22 points starts with a T
that's it, enddaman! :-)
roar

Lol Nef... that's not!
Got it. Strange word!
^o)
OOOPS! Sorry! either my puter is slow or the site is (blush)

??
Good :)
bye Nef
cya nef
aleksia go bak on MSN
OK - my icon is duly changed - and managed to get a dragon in there!
Night Nef
man. today's IS quite hard actually :/ only found 45.
Beautiful, matty!
Night all! Good luck on this one. I keep seeing words that aren't there.
It IS a bit of a phantom grid indeed, Nef. Lots of almost-words.
any clues for the m? it's got me stumped.
I hit a wall myself miametro, 48 left and I am seeing no more words
Did I ever mention how much I hate K-words?
me too.
Me too sprite, haven't got one yet
hi zombie
my monkey is getting tired
zimbies
I just found one, K5, Maiden - Mother - C5 alt. spelling. STUPID word!
I think with the C it is a kind of singing, actually.
add a middle vowel to the end of that sprite
can anyone give me a clue for the ko 6/33 please
today i have only found 6 words
Thanks miametro, that worked. Another very stupid word, for me anyway!
got the 2 from the clues, wow, stupid words, I agree!
cryung out loud
whats wrong zombie
Hi ruthy, Im missing that one too along with many others!!!
aleksia, look athe the ock and the uck, you will find words by adding diff letters in front of them :)
can't find the ko 6, and it's not in a2zwords so i give up. lol.
ok Cat9x
its a wierd word.....use cr5/12, remove the c and add the ko, then add a vowel for 2nd word on the end
thanks anyway i will try later off to take my son to school have a good day every one
ooops, wrong clue for wrong word, sorry! lol

I have the two kr words, but not the third k word...
bye aleksia
anyone got any sevens?
(ha, feel like i'm playing go fish)
one only so far
I'm stuck on the third K word too.
re7/32
Morning sue!
CO 7:32
Morning Matty!
the ko word means "A sculpture representing a standing nude young man, especially one produced in Greece before the fifth century B.C."
the re7/32 is built onto re5/12
CO 7:32 what?
CO 7:32 some jokes are CO 7:32 than others.
does it have a different ending kateq?
ahhh, ty SueMagee
it ends like h** poll** or the orange fish c**
er ?
Heh Kate? Confused is I!
oh, found it. hard!
Ah. Plural!
anyone have the tu6/24 or the to7/36? My last two and they are driving me mad

Congrats Kateq
Morning everyone!
Morning Kitty
morning all.
Hey Kitty and oggy
Good morning all - we're all piling in at once.
AND Haz ;)
Greetings oggy and Haz!!!
Morning Oggy and Haz :)
So, is the grid kind to us today?
I keep seeing "aadwark" in there...
Kind of kind. It is a K-grid. But it has its moments.
It starts hard but gets a bit better. So many almost words.
And have I missed any antipodean antics?
Haz, you managed to grab some computer time before your daughters today? ..and no - all quiet on that front today pretty much.
Some halfhearted attempts, but nothing other than that.
Both are still in bed! They have such tiring lives that they need their rest....
LOL, it is so tough being a student in the holidays!!!
'antipodean antics' is beautifully put, btw :)
The younger one IS planning to get up early to sunbathe. I suppose it shows some sort of discipline.
"early" is such a relative term.
Can someone help me out of my K-misery? I have Kr5/18 and Kr6/30. Need one more. Please?
You're right! Sorry, I was away there taking a phone call.
you are missing the k6/33, see def at 2.41
bouncing cats
Thanks FMitch :)
ARGH, ITS THE DEVILS BIRTHDAY!!! eeeeeeee!
hello everyone!
hullo
They're premiering the new verion of "The Omen" here today, due to the date
Yeah, kind of funny marketing stunt.
If there were an s in the grid, we could have an Oscar. As it is, an ac5/12 could receive a to4/6 aw5/20.
A helluva day today
That was one spooky film the first time around Kitty!!! LOL Haz.
It was! Apparently this new version isn't nearly as good.
how is everyone today?
Good morning PM26 - I'm fine though the grid is slippery!
coin
woops
hi all :) not convinced about this grid ...!
And another one bites the dust... :)
hi PM26..go on msn
hi Ata *hug* :) It is a K-grid. Need I say more.
ok
Well done sprite!
it is indeed!! and hard Ks at that it seems!
You done sprite? Congrats
None of them common words, those Ks. NOoooooo, I am not done! Just commenting on all of us posting words in the log by accident.
Finally passed the half way mark but sheesh!!!!
I withdraw my congratulations in that case.....
I am getting near the 100 now, but it's not going at any speed anymore.
PM26 i cant go on msn now
PM26 i cant go on msn now
who agrees with me that its a hard puzzle today?
does anyone remember me fretting about drawing a tattoo for a friend? Well, fretting aside, it finally got done (at least in draft form): http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/34 272792/
yes aleksia i do
ok..how many words does everyone have..?
DA seems to be down right now Ata
I do Atalante, but the link is not working at the moment
134 words today
well done...i only have 13 words today
I'd love to see it, Ata, but the link doesn't work here.
i mean 14
ack stupid dA. I'll tell you when its back up
oh here we go, this should work: http://www.atalante.f2s.com/marque3_sm all.jpg
That's really cool Ata
Very beautiful, Ata
By the way, why is your avvie wearing a mask Sprite?
To fit into today's theme, Kitty.
Wow, thats quite something, what size will it be?
Is it masks?
its going to go right down her back, from the nape of her neck downwards - hopefully it'll look amazing!
It is perfect for that spot, Ata. I wonder... would you accept another request for a tattoo?
Kitty: Masquerade Ball
Be sure to get a photo of the finished tattoo when it's done Ata. :)
ooh! Wonderful theme :D
could i please get a clue for mo5/12?
PM: it's a girl's name.
It's a woman's name, sort of scottish sounding
Finally! Haven't been able to access the game for several days! Anyone else have the same problem? And Morning!
all tattoo requests at least thought about ;) LOL I never thought I'd like designing for tattoos, but I'm doing one now for my friend's husband of Celtic dragons, and it's really interesting making up things for a surface so different to paper!
been through the log and can't see any clues that help with ..... KO 6 33. Can someone please give a clue that an old man understands ?
Hi amanda! There have been some connection problems, but not the whole day long.
Hello amanda!
I can't think of a gils name!
*girl
how many Y words are there?
PM - add the initials of an Irish terrorist organisation for mo5/12
PM: it starts with the french word for "me?" Think Miss Piggy.
Well, I will admit I didn't sit in front of the computer all day trying again and again to connectcoir
Grim - it is a really strange wordI had to google the definition in the end and it does not lend itself to clues
how many Y words are there....?
There are 5 y words.
5
thanks anyway fm
...ummm *finish message THEN enter word from grid* So anyway, I didn't try all day long to connect, but found it strange that I had problems about 3 days in a row
thank you..i have only got two...any clues
Let's try for that stupid Ko6. Ko + first 2 letters of to pee + 2 vowels that make it sound like a greek plural.
Think of McTaggert of X-Men fame for the mo5
amandacath - I've had problems with the site as well over the past few days. I usually have no problem logging on but then am thrown off at some stage.
grim - follow the ko with the 5th vowel + french king
sprite and jill to the rescue!!!
Got to do something else for a bit, back later :)
way past my bedtime - nite
PM26- how many Y wordds do you have?
Don't leave us wth this grid, sprite!
Good night Jillibus
2
same
so the gods of the internet finally let me back on the site, and I get this grid?!?! Is it as yucky as I'm thinking it is?
There's not much flow with it, just lots of individual words.
It's not a particulary nice grid, but it's not TOO bad
sprite ... got the ko 6 yhanks to your clue. found the greek bit, all greek but monkey typed the las two letters. thanks everyone. thats me done and back in the real world. bye
Hi amanda, it's not brilliant but is doable (not that I have finished)!!
Bye grim - have a good day.
bye Grim, see you again soon.
So how big is it? And someone stop me from wanting to put in aardvark!
any clues for yo5/16?
I've got to 69 words so am going to take a break. 134 words total.
See you Haz, Im off soon too.
oh, that's a relief - I had a suspicion this was a monster today! See ya, Haz
well i'm off bye everyone
bye
bye PM26..ill see you tomorrow
and I think I'll walk the dog while the sun's still shining :) back in a bit!
Bye Atalante, Im gone too now with 50 still to find. Happy babbling BBL
Your free 14-day trial period has expired Don't worry, you can still play Babble for free. The only difference is that the Stats Panels are no longer visible. To restore the Stats Panels, and to get a bunch of other great additional features, upgrade to a Pro account. It's only $14.95 for life! Upgrade to Pro ....what does it mean..?
Aleksia - don't worry. It just means that you won't get the stats anymore, or fireworks when you finish the grid, but you can still play. If you pay you can get them both back, and you can put a picture next to your name like FMitch or Atalante.
I went pro when my trial period ended, I just couldn't do without the Tile Stats :)

Morning eva - shhhh, don't tempt fate!! Haz just missed you.
Their teacher was on earlier today saying she talked to the "kids" and that she will now monitor them on here, and that they won't be acting out on here anymore, and if they do, she will find out :) A few came on, no problems at all :)
Where's the 8 letter word today? Any clue out for it yet?
gm Eva
Hi Eva! So I wasn't the only one having problems. Merk, the n8 has to do with day-sleeping animals
tard
oops sorry
Thanks. I'll start muddlling through.
amanda-the first 6 letters are pretty, but I can't figure out how to finish it?
I mean pretty clear
If Mr. Data slept during the day.... (I think the're kinda pretty, too)
end it with the "ending" of the drug that makes muscles bigger but is really bad for you... body builders sometimes use them.
5 left here... soooo close.
well-I'm doing somthing wrong, becaue I've tried that ending, so it must be the beginning I need to vary.
wow you are doing so well
roid
got it! Had to leave that "r" out
anyone have any clues for "odd" c words? I'm missing three of those, and one o word.
congrats Eva, well done
good morning (or day, or evening)
thanks for the hints
thank you
And is there a clue for the ac6/30?
Good morning cliff!
i heard a rumor we are going to see the sun today eva
Eva, what word were you working on?
there seems to be a lot of c words, but its tricky
I woulldn't take it too seriously cliff(-: I was working on the 8 merk
Eva, someone with good vision has looks with this... your ac6/30 I mean
Got it, thanks.
one can only hope.....
thanks ABS. I wasnt the one asking, but I can still use it!
OK, I back tracked and followed the clues. Miss ABS suggested ending really helped.
ah sorry, obviously I don't suffer from the ac6/30. ;) LOL
Hello everyone!!

Hey there Mr. P
hmmm,this is a hard one isn't it?
can anyone help with the e words
Hi MrP

One is a girl's name, and the other is a mistake
thanks
LOL atalante was that the m word by any chance I smiled too at that one.
i didnt know you could use names
the no8/55 is a joke ... right??

thanks mrp!
Thx, MrP - wouldn'T have guessed that was the last bit!
hebrew words don't work as well as french, but I keep trying
just 8 more minutes and then cat feeding and Qi Gong class
squirrel food? what do squirrels eat apart from nuts? *complete gap in knowledge about squirrels*
there are more than a few stupid looking words in this puzzle!! what is with the 'french sounding' old sheep mo6/24 and the oc6 squid with a wish to be robotic
at-it's the think that oak trees come from
atalante, they eat stupid nuts from oak trees
thanks for the sheep mrp-still puzzling over the wistful squid

Monfils is amazing--but would you have ever guessed he was a tennis player?! Looks like a basketball pro!
http://www.eurosport.com/tennis/ is a great site for info
He looks like Ronaldino's brother!!
fed is the 3rd match - after 2 women's matches. 1st match is half way through-ish

But have you noticed how many men DO make it onto the grid?
Hi MrP - lovely weather,I'm pleased to say. I have garden buildings to paint with preserver so it's just as well.

I'll pray that it is Jera
I was very pleased last night... my troop went to see a movie togather, & we are going to a local festival Saturday, so I was thinking about skipping the regular meeting this week... they voted unanimously to mee Thursday!
Ugh Nocturne is going to be my phantom word today

clue for no 8?
"to7 - the scenic route + squirrel oak food, take away a couple of letters" Huh?
can someone mistype the TO7 word? :D
WHY is tock not in the dictionary?!?! Our clock would sound very strange if it only went "tick, tick, tick"...
i agree
no 8 is a night time animal
Also, "cooty" should be there
I see it as a singular of "cooties"
to 7 take a to** of a museum & what falls from an oak tree
i agree, kitty!
and I still don't get the no8, even if I understand the clue and I think I know what the beginning of the word is I still don't get the end...
oid on the end
I'm having a brain farty day today

later all.
Hi all I'm back.
a clue for co 7?
the three stooges are co7 than abbott and costello
kr 6/ di 6?
I can't help you preethi
thanks musicmum - good clue
hi musicmom
kr6 = A sculpture representing a standing nude young man, especially one produced in Greece before the fifth century B.C.
hi abe
co7 = more like the lamest joke you ever heard, or more like a vegetable that grows ears on stalks
mornin all!
morning evenadine
a clue for the e word that doesn't mean mistake, please
Kitty - are the kr and ko synonymous then? I have that for the ko 6.
girls name kitty
hi evanadine
wow, im not getting that 8-legged king clue....heh... the king part is totally evading me...
Thank you Saphyre! Don't know why I didn't get that earlier, it's an alternate spelling of my name after all :D
hi evanadine
Evan - try the French word for king.
yw kitty
try french for king
Or think alternate spelling for cowboy actor R--rogers
DUH!! i was trying to make it an OC7...lol
Sorry, I gave you the wrong clue Musicmom! the kr6 is the same as the kr5 but with an added letter at the end
torie
well, on the "duh" note, im gonna go get breakfast!
Thanks Kitty. No problem.
got it!
both the kr's mean the same thing (the currency of Estonia)
Bye Evanadine. I'm going to have to eat something soon too.
brb
can anyone please give me a clue for the ko 6/33
I dont have it ruthy
hmm...eroica doesn't work -- no classical music education for this dictionary!
I can't find it either
me neither ruthy, still fumbling with clue from earlier (i'm not quite awake yet)
take the o out jfarber
jfarber - it's a shame but if you take out the o you do get an e5.
co 6/21 anyone?
ko6 = noise pigeons make (phonetically) + french for king
Um...but that's a girl's name, not a word...
Thanks, tho. :-)
also a type of plant
it is also a plant
and a different spelling of my given name :)
and like people said, it's a heather-like plant
aha...tempting to say "hey, I know some girls named er*** who would be desribed by the dictionary.com definition of THAT word..." But in the interest of decorum, I won't say that. :p
how many word today?
134
ko6 = ko+5th vowel + french for king.
thanks
thanks kittyvane and atalante and fmitch and saphyre
Hey abe!

thanks hydra
i agree. i 'm having all kinds of problems deciphering clues/ finding words this morning
Any clues for the mo6?

Congrats ruthy.
Kitty - it's french for sheep
Definitely not as friendly a grid as yesterday

matty - nickname for one of the big UK soaps
did I break the chat log? where did everyone go!!
back again.
No - I'm here!
looking fo english soap operas it would seem ;)
Still here battling away :)
lol - yes sorry, that wasn't very helpful as a clue if you don't live in England. otherwise, its a valley formed by a glacier!
BGL - are you around?
Is it possible to explain hwo that word came to be a nickname for soap operas? I dont' see the connection.
Not for soap operas in general - Coronation Street in particular.
because our most afmous soap opera has a name that abbreviates to that
Oh, I see now. Thanks.
I live in UK and didn't get it. Heh.
what does the 8 start with?
no musicmom
thanks Saphyre
MM, it's an n8
thanks jen
no8/55

Hi spellit, love the icon, a realy cutie
ac6/30 means keenness
Still idolizing my newest granddaoughter I am afraid FMitch; she is just so cute
how many g.children do you have?
any clue for the ko6??
ko 6/33 is a sculpture representing a standing nude young man
We are up to 8 so far with one son as yet unmarried...
thanks spellit
Oh wow!!! lots of lovely littlies :)
what about ae6/18?
any hints?
more ae 5/10
ae6/18 means ethereal
If you find an ae5/10 watch out because it may have a very large bird in it!
how about the ar6?
ar6/18 is from Shakespeare! Arxxxx thee, witch!
In other words "Get Lost, witch!"
thank
thanks again spellit
thanks
still having problems finding the ko6...I know it is a statue, but that isnt helping??
k + not mine but *** - s + alternate spelling for cowboy rogers
lots of vowels ouw
done
minus a consonant, at the end. sorry to be confusing
thanks abe...got it
yw ouwachita
For ko6 think of a UK aftershave in a blue bottle - very pricy I think. Word is Greek sounding, I'm sure there must be an island like it..
Back again. How's it going? I see others got stuck on the ko6
co7,32?
Congrats scraggy
yay scraggy!
scraggly
co7/32 even more so than your co5/16
Think of the vegetable. It can also mean humorous. I am Co* than you are.

LOL!!!!!
hi yeshika
We are lively today. I love reading your chatter.
tis not chatter...tis babble
That's true ... it sometimes sounds like babble.
Charm, did you get the k8 clue?
how many words today please?
134
134
Sorry, Merk - I had to step away. naturally, that would be when the best clues are given! When should I look?
thanx jbp
np
I don't think there was one Charm. I missed it if there was
k8 clue??
jbp - been waiting for you to come on. I finally got in touch with Jed. First I had to get his address from a friend, then I couldn't get on to Babble for a couple of days for your address. Anyway, I s'pose you'll be hearing from him soon!
k + personal possessive pronoun for us + 4th and 3rd vowels
i just emailed with him... fate is so wierd
Wait a minute that is k6 --- the 8 is a N word
Thanks, Merk!
ty Merk...I finally got that k word
So, do we have the n8?
ooh, what a great word: A sculpture representing a standing nude young man, especially one produced in Greece before the fifth century B.C.
I don't Charm. I was hoping for clue
i knew Jed in 88-89, and visited him in the late 90s in Hamburg when I was in southern Germany on a fulbright... it's just so cool to be in touch w/ him again
thank you amandacath!!!
jbp - I need one of those.....
i would like the n word to be either nocturn or nicotine
need one of what Charm?
I have no idea what that n word is bcs I know nothing of Greek statues
the k-word we just figured out. eye-candy, so to speak.
Me tooo jbp -- nocturn is killing me!
Well the n8 is hard to explain. It is an animal that sleeps in the daytime, but only the first five letters. End it like the ending for the word when guys are on str*** to build muscles.
Oop. Guys are on ster*
great clue merk!!!!
GREAT clue, Merk!
Everyone helps me so much when my brain muddles, I am happy to return the favor.
Charm, don't we all!!!
mouton
No thanks necessary - it's fun when the "6 degrees of separation"-thing works out. Gave me a good reason to get in touch with him too!
oh shite
sorry
thanks Merk. Still haven't noodled it but it isn't your clue at fault<G>
grrrrr, i want to disembowel someone!
wish I could come see the play, amandacath
thanks jbp
Evanonut - what did I do?<G>
I get stuck on the stupid short ones. You can return the favor. I can't find the ni4/9
musicmom... no+ a kind of scan+ not me+ ster***
no you or any babbler mm
ni** at nite?
it would be the new program manager at the husbands dr.'s office preferably, and maybe the old one for leaving.
yay charm!!
Yeah, that ocean in the middle is a real pain, jbp! I wish they'd hurry up and figure out the beaming!
sorry evanonut... it was accidental
Got it - I was putting an extra letter in. Thanks!
jbp - funny girl
Oh brother --- I hate dealing with medical care. It does make you want to hurt someone!
indeed, amandacath.
i do what i can. ;-)
yes, it does
So, I'm off, otherwise I'll stay here all day and not get anything done. Have fun!
Oh, duh! I must need a break. Thanks
bye amandacath!
brb
Am I going to need the fish if I ask for the u?
not from me Charm
how about an e word that is not a mistake
A girl's name.
i kept tying to make that with the K... thanks charm!
a girls name for the E? I tried that and it didn't work
not the irish one
e+bogart in casablanca
There's an actor named ER** Bana - add a vowel.
but w/o the k, and use a vowel at the end
got it, ty:)
yw
ok.. what letter does the n8 end with?
ster*** Cad
ends with D
I'll bbl....have stuff to do outside b4 it gets too hot.
i'd like some A clues.... have thespian, ae+ misspelled 3 letter liquor, dry, a+june cleaver's husband
I simply cannot get it to work... obviously I'm doing something wrong....
cad - there is no r in it. That's what I was doing wrong
no+ 3 letter feline minus the vowl, plus not me
plus the last 3
Ta freaking dah... got it now!
Thanks for ending my frustration....
lol cad --that sounds like the music in my head...
or have I said too much
Back in a bit - gotta go do some work
am off for a while happy babbling everyone:)
i wanna make "acorn"
you can....
do it jbp!~
well make it then :)
well try it again jbp!!!!
_)*&)*&%^&%! how come it didn't work the first 12 times I tried???
(hangs head in shame)
thanks guys
use your ac6 30 and make it
perhaps you went to the wrong o. lol
LOL we love you anyway
awww, shucks.
taking the girls on a walk. Be back later.
cr5,14?
co5,14?
uncagain, i think it's only a 5
my word ends in y
co 5/14... where judge judy reigns supreme
I have that one, it the other I need
Its a co5,12
uncagain, ?
ac, two vowels, consonant, y
a, very clever uncagain.
densely, i found it
lol
hi all!
cr5,14 please
shirin, the co 5/12 i have is just the person who does co4 5 just before it
I have that one too. Let me go back and see what I am missing from the co's, thanks
hi Fiz
tough grid, or is it just me?
not just you, Fiz
later everyone.
Hi! How many words today?
Phew. cause I'm struggling....
not so tough! i can take it! putem up grid! *assumes boxing stance*
You go, EvanO
134 words today liz
i go go go go gone
bye evano
and charm
ty FMitch :)
bye evano
ha ha, not leaving
i have a grids arse to kick
surely, the state of having many ions would make something iony
but it doesn't - that's ir**y.
it's ir*** isn't i
hee he great minds Fiz
lol
kick those gridbutts, Evanonut
Ahh, the babblers think as one...
yeah, it's total gridditude.
Finished at last! Definitely rusty after two weeks lazing by the pool in Majorca!
hey spellit
Oh, spellit, you poor thing....
congrats spellit!
well, apparently it did you good, spelit!
It was tough but someone had to do it
a right sacrifice spellit
Thanks for taking that one for the team - I for one appreciate it...
now i don't have to kick the grids butt
Spellit - who's the little one? She's beautiful
Granddaughter Millie Louise
What a smile. Evano - why not?
fiz - never kick a grid while its down!
di6,27?
i'm looking for that as well, Shirin
di6/27 Restricted use of lights at night, as to make a city less visible from the air in wartime.
thanks Spelit
Fireworks! Maybe I can get some work done now!
huzzah, Merk!
and for me too Merk. Congrats.
yay FMitch!
Well done FMitch - I'm crawling home still, having been in and out this afternoon.
hiya Haz!
You'll make it Haz, nice to see you.
Hello jbp! I'm actually surprised that there are so many normal words!
including the greek male statue from BC?
And almost every single syllable word in the English language ending in a ck. If in doubt, try that.
true, but I found a lot of the normal ones very hard to find, squirly and tucked away.
yay fmitch and mirk!
Yes, you kind of come upon them by accident. Oh look ,that's a word.
i'm looking for ac 5/14.....
Question ... the day will come when I won't have time to finish a puzzle. Score wise, am I better off not even starting if I know I can't finish?
Yes, Merk, but where is the fun in that?
AC ... pungent, bitter taste
if i ever thought about my ranking, I wouldn't have gone pro
thanks Merk
mORNING, mERK. hURSH WOULD SAY no
So you do it for fun solely.
Merk - if its a big one don't start it, a small one probably won't knock yr ranking too much
Merk, I know I can't finish every single day!
Yup. No competition here, just fun--collegiate style
You have a point, Haz, but it's a good motivator for me to try to improve my Cream of the Crop score.
Hi, I am back for a few moments and need a clue for the ko pls
Anyone who wants to complain about my ranking can take over one of my jobs or find me an extra three hours to sleep at night--this is just how I decompress
For fun mainly. It's nice to get the points but nobody in this house gives two hoots whether I finish or not. I like to finish just for my own satisfaction at finding the words.
And good morning hetty!
I hear you. Thanks for the input. I'll do it as time permits then. Right now I'm on a vacation of sorts, except I have tons waiting for me to do.
It's entirely up to yourself, Merk. That's the joy of the game, everyone can take it as seriously or not as they choose.
KO = K + personal possessive pronoun for us + vowels 4 and 3
Good morning, Haz. For a while trhe I thiught Merk was confusing me with you, and felt highly honoured. How are the beasties today?
Anyone want to help phandmd with that ko? I don't have it, meself
please note i am neither encouraging nor discouraging anyone from playing part of a puzzle just for fun... but it is a fact, if you want to know, that it's better for your ranking not to play than to play part of a puzzle
oh, merk's all over it. thanks!
The beasties at home are behaving well, the beasties in the field are having to cope with unexpected heat.
Thanks for the input. You teach me something new everyday, which is why I am here. Postponing the onslaught of Alzheimers.
Thank you merk, I wouldl never have gotten that
Well, time to clean house. tata
Oh, as a bonus ... one of today's words is a homonym for my name. Bye.
When you are don Merk, could you come round mine?
FMitch, it looks like I'd have to fly to do so, but otherwise I would, if alone to see your beautiful country.
LOL see you next time Merk
tomorrow
FMitch - do you not think it is a scary thought that to4/6 (our esteemed leader) can be more so (to6/18)?
LOL Merk. Keep babbling
Bye Merk - good to talk to you again.
Wel he would probably believe it!
And we in Canada have a harper that could scarcely be harpier
I have 2 of the 7's...the "vegetable" one and the "nuclear" one....what is the other, pls?
he's already so harpy with himself. Now I've got that off my chest I decree no more politics in babbleland
There's a to7/36 - a type of bird
ok will think on that a bit...ty:)
Someone clued it earlier as the scenic route plus the start of oak seed
Haz, that was perfect! thanks:)
pls can I have one more clue before running off again? I need one of the last 2 no4's: I have the french one
and now I have the French one too! lol ty
phandmd: think sushi...it's a seaweed sort of thing
yw
You're welcome tndaisy.
don't know much about sushi
phandmad - it's the french one with the last two letters reversed
no + consonant + vowel
that works, thanx Haz, bbl
and with that one...I have 40 left:) I have the delicious luxury today of being able to babble a few, then get up and do something else...come back to it....bcs I'm here all by myself til probably Thursday night!
that ko6 word is driving me crazy. Does anyone have a different clue, please?
good morning!
hi LeslieAnn)
have we talked about the 8? and if it's a real normal word don't give me a clue thanks :)
k + 4th vowel + 5th vowel + french king
NOT a normal word, Hursh
then i WILL take a clue :)
not the n one anyway
somebody else do it...I got it off the one I got earlier but i can't remember it and will just get it confused
the 8 starts with N? then that's my last N that i need!
ty bookgrrl
and it was such a lovely clue too...*sigh*
does it build on any of the other N's daisy?
I'm not sure bcs I don'thave them all...but I can tell you this....it starts out like "nighttime things"...
ooh i was wanting nocturnal so i'm glad there is something related
me too hursh!
then there's a 5th vowel...and the things that athletes take that they're not supposed to...part of that word on the end of it all
and if you're not confused by now...I'll keep trying! lol!!
not it
i mean got it
guess my finger was still on the n! lol
wow...you ARE a genius if you got it from all that
give yourself more credit daisy
so I've been told
a clue please for the mi5,20
how long is the U?
shirin - maybe it rhymes with a stretchy fabric beginning with L?
thank you hurshy
do you have the dr6,27?
five letters, hursh for the u
no but i didn't have the mi5 when you asked :) let me look! :)
ty leslie
sigh, one would think that 1943 would be midwar
dr 6/27... do you mean di 6/27?
yes, thanks
that would be a significant difference if so...
there was a clue earlier about lights fading during wartime, but I still have no idea
not bright but d** + not in
ohhhh
;-)
the di word, not bright , plus the opposite of in
thanks, that makes sense
i got it from shirin's post :)
di6/27 is a word for hiding light--a milder version of "blackout"
ar 6/18?
ironic really
ar 6/18 was in yesterday's puzzle :)
probably one of the ones i didin't get
ar618 has appeared forthe third grid in a row. Means BEGONE!"
didn't get it then either!!
"you an**** my head with oil, my cup overflows", change n to r
ar 6 - ar + what a pig says, change last letter
AAAAARRRGGHHHH! thanks hursh
2 spellings, one with "i" ( as today)one with"Y"
AAAAARRRGGHHHH!
AAAAARRRGGHHHH! thanks hursh
aaaarrrrgggh
thanks hursh
ty
whoa, it appears jbp is in some kind of pain or something
that is a lot of aaaarrrgggghhhhing
jbp, what's all this noise about
maybe the emperor is attacking him with those lightning-from-the-fingertips things...
her not him!
sorry jbp
cirn
oops. I should never click ont he chat box.
('cirn' doesn't work, btw)
that's ok, it's not a word, i tried :)
the page keeps freezing on me didn't realize i had the cursor inthe chat box
so you thought you were typing "arrrgh" into the grid?
the page keeps freezing on me
no, just genrally frustratedly typing it
oh ok. that makes sense.
not really, but it's kind of you to say so LeslieAnn
so, the co 4/5 words... i have what you wear, money and manuscript part (sounds like what you sing in --no, not the shower). I'm nissing one in there somewhere....
a vegetable
an animal, rac****?
a way to spell a (bird?)...alt sp of co 4/7
look for the center of things, an old guy, and a varmint.
i think it's a bird.
in4,4 I have the japanese box and the currency
lol, preposition jbergenudd
oh!
all my y's are yo4's, i need one more y, any pointers?
add a letter to a yo 4/6, hursh
I was shure I had tried all possible permutations from in, twice
ty leslie
in japanese box?
it's in + first two letters of a lion's yell, jbp
you read my mind jbp
it's a babblet jbp - comes up a lot... add ensign ** laren from st:tng
thanks LA!
got it:)
i hope there is someone out there who can use my star trek clue
add ensign ** laren from st:tng??
not tasha
t wesley
oh that's what it is, i thought your fingers slipped on the keyboard
not data
obviously jbp is not that someone :)
so who
you know, the bajoran lady
OH that's not tng tho
that's deep space 9, right?
yuh-huh it is!
not kira, different bajoran
ac6?
i thought Bajor was all on the ds9... i'll have to check the dvd at home
OH ok
gotcha
(did i just say that I'd check the dvd out loud?)
ooh thanks leslie
:) jbp :)
i'm glad you did jbp always nice to know fellow fans
she was on TNG...that's where I saw her. didn't get to see but a couple of eps of ds9....deprived
ac6... sharpness
ah... ds9 wasn't nearly as good.
for all kinds of reasons
ohh man, i'm mad i missed that ac6
the main one being that they didn't boldly go! (at least at first)
co 6/21?
i'm not that woulda taken me like an hour to find
indeed.
the indeed was for hursh, not slamming you LA
co6/21 ten boom, hid jewish refugees during the holocaust
eh, it woulda been fine even if aimed at me :)
that's "co6 ten boom" that is all her name
the co 6 is like the co 7, but lose the "n" and double the r in the middle
great clue Hursh
i'm doing much better with C's than i usually do, only 3 left myself
ci 4/5, i have the one that sounds like the promised land
what's the other?
I need to educate myself some more, I'd of never gotten it from that clue. I have to use dummy clues.
sounds like how you address the king
never mind, it sounds like your majesty
never mind, it sounds like your majesty
you prob could have googled "ten boom"
bunnyv, your clues rock!
Did I mention I'm lazt too?
me too, bunny, hursh gave some super-smart clue earlier, and i was like, "what a pig says"
lol LA
and both worked!
leslie - it wasn't super-smart, it was just quoting psalm 23 (which is the most well known psalm after all)
ds9 rocks. I just have to say that even though that convo was a bit back. babble's only just let me back in!
I shall fear no pig sounds?
hey ata :)
me too atalante...
lol i know hursh, but mine looked just a tad elementary next to it :)
lol uncagain
Hursh is so eloquent (see, big word), she makes me look like a kindergartner.
lo tho i walk through the shadow of the pigsty of death...
hiya everyone!! ata i love your icon. is it your dog?
Hi, everyone! I'm on lunch break and going to see how much of this I can tackle!
hi bex, bgl
hi bex and bgl
HEY BGL - I've been looking for you! Just getting ready to lunch. Like my icon?
eh stop it. i just a widdle bitty girl, not so eloquent
one last word before I head out to lunch....ci 5/14...
that's cr 5/14
its my ex-dog! we had him a few years ago, but he died young :( he was a beautiful, silly little spaniel!!
Yes, very nice. Is this in honor of Adam's new addition? Or the theme?
Both!
cr + anagram of yours, mine, and ***s
I haven't changed my icon from yesterday
the theme is masquerade
I saw that!
ur5,12?
Let me see what I can find...
ur + three vowels in alphabetical order
ur5 - TOO MANY VOWELS
I'm going to heat up my hamburger for lunch. BRB
ack! the dreaded 14!
thanks, Bunny --took me a bit
dun dun dun...
phew, 13 now, much less unlucky.
off to munch. bbl
bye
ok got a new picture :) decided to go for the theme today

I better get too, baby i out of formula
ooh, pretty bex!

Musicmom~ How about a "back" view?
gone to do some more yard work b4 it gets entirely too hot...not far from it now...
man what a trekkish grid
bye bunny!
and daisy
ok, didn't know you could jump from col 5 to col 1
first time
you can't
jberg - no it's that you use the other R
I'm back. NEed to refresh to see the back view
doh!!
oc6?
gosh if you could wrap around like that we'd be in big trouble
ooh thanks again leslie you are great today
halloween month + french king
LOVE IT BGL
tu6?
french isn't my thing?
side-by-sideyou get the whole idea
hurshy - I know! didn't see the other R
yep
oc + the counselor from st:tng :)
yay musicmom
yw
Similar to the to7/36 (tu6/24)
thanks haz
to7/36? h ieveryone...
you're welcome, MM
temple it sounds like the country where casablanca is
clued earlier as scenic route plus oak seed, (to7/36)
oo5,10?
jberg - get used to that one :) like an ee word for spooky but with o's
that's common babblet jbergenudd -- oo+consonant+ 2 vowels
my first time :)
yeah we're just letting you know you'll see it a lot
I know --- just telling you to keep it in mind<G> You're doing great!
does anyone have any idea why i think "crooty" should be a word?
nope
sounds nasty
any meaning to the word?
No idea. But I don't see why "tock" is not.
I don't know about the rest of you but I have to re+i/4/4 all the time! Why isn't it a word? It seems like we can "re" everything else! :)
cos she's a babbler ..
Just quick ir4ing in the first place
Me either vic
i agree with vi and BGL :) on crooty - i just feel like i've heard it somehow recently... aha, thanks ata!
aww, it won't take cardio
If anyone can read the writing on the wall, it's surely Babblers.
yeah that irked me too leslie
me too
mene mene tekel parsin
And within those letters, hurshy, I can find sine, mermen, tele, parse...
:)
I don't know, Hursh, i've never crooted
could someone clue the oc6 with an idiot's clue?
hmm, have u guys got help for the retarded? The to 7/36 clues went past me, around me, through me, but didnt stick
But have you had your doctor examine you to make sure you aren't crooty?
no hetty, ata got it, it's that crooty is a babbler's name :) i thought it was a name but then i thought i must be wrong since i couldn't picture it in caps
oc + anagram of a group of three, leslie
to7 - start with a four-letter word for trip or guided visit, add the first three letters of the oak seed (that's also in the grid, by the way)
or, if you are interested in learning about business, a good first step might be to to** * **, lol
ty vi, unacagain!
ho ho, more than half!
now if only i could remeber the word that resembles it....*thinking*
68 words, 66 to go
or5, anyone? I have the crystalline structure one.
thank you, that did it. My mind is working undertime today
o + what you do with a book
i have 10 to go and i'm getting pretty stuck
Gosh, is that a word? Thanks, hurshy.
Hmm...mountain nymphs...
ooh just remembered that that girl's name counts! now i'm done with vowels
ae5 and ae6?
an eagle's nest, and more so
they both stay in the top lefthand corner, jberg
I'm having trouble with the di6
"Gandalf said 'May your *****s receive you at your journey's end,' which is the polite thing to say among eagles."
crystaline structure?
it's a compound SMF
di6 is weak form of blackout. Can someone find me the third no4?
thanks hurshy - brb Sarah needs me
I got it Thanks!
hetty switch last two letters of 2nd
switch the last two letters of your other one, hetty
sorry i missed the no8 clue earlier?
I'm with daisy, crystalline structure?
crystalline structure derived from lichens, tndaisy. Take the sea creature, change the vowel at the end and add the opposite of out.
I've got that, Leslieann there's a third no4
Or rather, omit the vowel at the end!
starts like the creatures that are awake at night (for 5 letters), and then ends like what da4 is on st:tng :) :)
oh, ok, sounds like what you do at a door to be let in, hetty
that was for the no8 there
The **** goes ever on and on Down from the door where it began.
oops. Itmust be the no4/9--I
hurshy, i hate to break this to you, but i have never watched a single episode or movie of star trek in my life
ok leslie well a fancy robot is called an...
l try the door--and it OPENED> ta.
and leslie - you really should rectify that problem ASAP :)
got it. thanks.
help please with the k's
And you somehow don't feel deprived in the slightest, do you LeslieAnn?
nope, not really douglas :)
Two minutes to play, then off home. Just 56 words to go (ha)
hain't they heard of "rico suave"?
kr 5 is a homophone for cr 5/12
of course blind people (who were born so) don't really know what they are missing either douglas
Hey Babblers :)
add a vowel to that for kr 6
*hursh is full of pity*
I finally got that or5, ty:)
{{faerie}}
Star Trek is highly idealistic, thinking that we would somehow just stop fighting among ourselves as we went into space.
oops, I still have my "pursed lips" from yesterday
clue to the mi5, anyone?
going to change
thanks got the ae5 and ae6
lol jen
{{Bex}} *waves*

phantom word... ornery
of course you get different impressions from different bits of trek
mo6?

leslieann - read the little prince?
Goodnight!
hydra - perhaps rhymes with a stretchy fabric starting with L?

k plus three letter word meaning belonging to us, then two vowels in reverse order.

thanks everyone, talk about blind spot, i kept going to the right and up
mo5 is a woman's name, though i can't think of an example at the moment
mo5- woman's name think X-Men
it's also similar to another woman's name actress tierney of ER
mo5, think irish woman's name
mo5, think irish woman's name
It's a scottish name - Miss Shearer of ballet film 'The Red Shoes' is probably the most famous one.

oh thanks. stid, i've found it a bit difficult
hurshy - is the list http://licketysplitaus.googlepages.com /babbleclues.html
okay, I think I will use the list today then since it's my "busy out and about day" I'll get as many as I can before I stall out though...
ummm... i dunno i guess... haven't used it in a long time now
the only italian card game i know is Briscola
sounds about right though
or is it a word list?
kimberblue - take an orange veggie, remove one r, and switch the first and last letters
jberergenudd - click on Lickety's babble clues (under Friends of Babble) for a list of the second letter and points values for the words
the "List" is Lickety's Babble clues in the "friends of babble section" or the similar list at Babbler's Anonymous...
yep, i'm already using this
to 6/18? (either)

3 ro 4/4!! brilliant!
oh no i have all those
the third one is... like a kind of pasta with out the final "ni"
now we must all talk about the knights who say ni
jbp to4/4 and just switch last to con in your word
Haz -- THAT was brilliant clue!
*tickles the grid to try to get it to let out the last few words*
thanks hurshy

Nah!! you are always on the spot.

new song... "embrace me, my sweet embraceable you...."
or 4/5 that isn't or+ not subtract?
ohhhhhhhhh once upon a midnight dreary i woke with something in my head... i couldn't escape the memory of a phone call and what you said... like a game show contestant with a parting gift i could not believe my eyes... what i saw through the voice of a trusted friend who needs to humor me and tell me lies... yeah humor me and tell me lies... well i'll lie to and say i don't mind, and as we seek so shall we find... and when you're feeling open i'll still be here but not without a certain degree of fear of what will be with you and me, i still can see things hopefully but yoouuuuuuuuuuu, why you wanna give me the runaround? is it a surefire way to speed things up when all it does is sloooow me down
n,...it's a whale of a word

ROFLMAOWPIMPTIME
shorty, you're slayin' me
LOL shorty I was just wondering the same thing.
pimptime???
it's a blues traveler song.
I'm always amazed how many songs have lyrics that once I listen to closely I end up saying, "Well now, I don't think I can support THAT kind of behavior."
"don't be a naughty baby -- come to mama come to mama do..."
ROFLMAOAAD
"my sweet embraceable --- you"
roll on floor laughing my as* off while Pis*ing in my pants with tears in my eyes'

I like making ookie after lunch. Then I like a nice long nap.
those kr words are taunting me
jrh, get out of my brain!!!
No Corr? As in, 'Corr, those Corrs are hot!'

cooties
deal.
and though this world with devils filled should threaten to undo us we will not fear for God hath willed his truth to triumph through us the prince of darkness grim we tremble not for him his rage we can endure for lo his doom is sure one little word shall fell him
isn't it cootie?
Yeah, it's cootie. but don't worry. God can deal with them, too.
jbp said a word a while ago too... :) :) :)
God's got cooties!
who's ardra
LOL bor
when?
ardra is the devil in an episode of st:tng
that does seem like fun... slipping words off the grid into conversations.
Nuh uh! 'Cause God's not a boy!
when we were discussing star trek, jbp
I'm hesitant to admit this, hurshy, but I knew what you were talking about.
prove it!
hurshy -doh! i shoulda known
For example, we could have told smaller to leave the hamulate letter off of the knees and elbows clue.
(hamulate being a recent grid word)
which, jrh? ardra, or the word jbp said?
i thought we agreed that hamulate meant to pretend you were insane and kill your stepfather who married your mother?
Easy, boreetos. you're a boy. God's not like you, therefore God's not a boy. QED.
arda.
if ri4/9 is allowed then "mork" should be allowed
i think ri4/9 is something to do with hay
wood, actually
lol hurshy!!!
no, I agree, God is not like me at all, but for FAR greater reasons that just my being male. :)
as in hey, ri++, let her get on the plane already!
boreetos: Vicuna's logic is better than lifting up the old guy's kilt.
:) Theology and flippancy seldom mix well!
as far as I know mo 5/12 is only a name - how come it's allowed?
ooh i was right ri4/9: A stack of hay, straw, or similar material, especially when covered or thatched for protection from the weather
I didn't realize God was Scottish!
yeah its pretty true. nice job vicuna.
LOL jbp!
I stand corrected, Hursh:)
he's not scottish, the Scots just know a good idea when they see it on the Lord Al'mighty.
i have lots of heaven jokes!

CadFan, ours not to reason why, ours but to do and die.
I think my two remaining brain cells need a break. I'll bbl to finish this; only have 19 left.
mi 5/20?
i don't know. are you?
bwha ha h a!!
One word left the last re6/21?
to use a book again
like... there were these two clams who were best friends, sam and ted. sam died, and ted missed him terribly. one night an angel came to ted and said he could take ted up to heaven to visit sam for just one night. so ted agreed. at the pearly gates, he was given a small harp to show that he was just a visitor and told to keep it on him at all times and bring it back when he left. so in he went, and found that up in heaven, his buddy had opened a disco. he danced the night away, thrilled to be reunited with his pal. when morning arrived he rushed back to the pearly gates and st. peter asked him to return his visitor's pass. "oh no", exclaimed ted! "i left my harp in sam clam's disco!"

there was a minister who loved to play golf. one gorgeous sunday he decided to play hooky from church and hit the links. on his very first hole, he gets a hole-in-one. an angel up in heaven shakes his head and asks God, "now why would you let that happen?" and God says, "think about it - who can he tell?"

no donuts are their own special shape that sounds like a certain car ford makes, and this is the adj form of it
Don't forget the hole in the middle, M3. (And just change out the middle letter of the other to5)
oh sure, i like all jokes i haven't heard before and some that i have <g>
oh dear, well if people really want me to stop with the jokes then i guess i better
"Masquerade! Paper faces on parade . . . Masquerade! Hide your face, so the world will never find you! Masquerade! Every face a different shade . . . Masquerade! Look around - there's another mask behind you!"
I LOVE that scene!!
ah, another one on theme!
ooh! I love Phantom!!
dang song has been stuck in my head all day, thanks to todays theme!
no, hursh, keep 'em coming!

(I'll change my icon to the theme as soon as I can get back on my own computer. But my mother's hogging it!)

if only i could cough up the $15

tracy - Babbler's profile, you can find it on lickety's link

I like my icon
Hey Vicuna - you changed your look...
Tracymoo, go to Angelsongs Babble page, and click the link there for babbler's profile
ack! lol
Yeah, but this one is left over from rain forest animals and I haven't gotten up to date!
well, the stupid man had a farm and he had these two horses that he couldn't tell apart. so he asked his neighbor for advice and his neighbor said, "why don't you cut the mane off one of them?" so he did that but of course it grew back. he decided to cut off the tail cause it was longer but eventually that grew back too. wanting a permanent solution he decided to ask for ideas at a town meeting. "why don't you measure them?" suggested someone. "great idea!" he said. so he went home and did that, and sure enough, the black one was taller than the white one.
thanks all!! (I'm doing pretty well on the puzzle today, but I sure miss having an "s")
great!
nice joke, hursh
Hee hee, hurshy! And do you know why a horse has six legs?
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no, why vi? :)
DO TELL
I assume it has to do with the rider having two?
have I missed any clues for that blasted kr 6?
Because it has two legs in the back and forelegs in the front!
lol
themes - on the right of lickety's page, under the sudoku ad - Icon Themes
aw, that was too clever for me Vic.
ack!!
thanks jillibus
kr5 + a vowel
Thank you une!!!
anyone need a clue?
wa 4/9? got one cant see the other
nice, une -- if i had kr5 <g>
*** of cash + vowel
Yes please--still looking for 2 tos, both to4
i gave a clue earlier--kr5 is same as cr5
ok the dry river?
the first cr6/12, that is
wa4/9's - one is the kid you take care of, the other is a dry stream bed, I think. Starts with a rolled up blob of paper, and add a vowel.
kr 5 is like sinatra's singing
jili, kr5 is a diff spelling of what sinatra and bing do
aarrghh, cr5/12
thanks
one day the stupid man was driving along a country road and his tr5 broke down. he walked along the road to the nearest farm and asked if he could borrow a horse to ride to a mechanic's to get help. "sure," said the farmer, "but the only one that's not working right now is kind of odd. used to belong to a minister, so to get him to start you need to say "praise the Lord!" and to get him to stop you need to say "amen." being in a hurry, the man said, sure sure, whatever, and got on the horse, said "praise the lord", and rode off. he rode for some distance when up ahead he spotted a cliff. "whoa!!" he shouted. "stop! whoa!!" but the horse would not stop. finally he remembered and said "AMEN!" and the horse stopped, right at the edge of the cliff. the man was, naturally, very relieved. "phew," he said, "praise the Lord!"
cr5/12 = cr + what you mine from the earth.
so many to's ... do you have the broadway award?
OH!!! LOL
and the one that's MORE Broadway award
Not quite like Thelma and Louise, but somehow reminiscent...
Hursh! :-D
hehe vi
Yes, Anders, was clued as Mr. Blair
the ones I'm seeking are listed as 3 and 4
thanks for the Sinatra one, gang!
hetty i think you need ms. spelling of 90210
and one that ends with a double consonant
to's I have are the drink, the posher place, the award, the ripped, the ripped + r + vowel, ms. spelling, ms. spelling + consonant, past tense of ripped, a unit of pressure, sightseeing, sightseeing + vowel + short for company
Have to give up and run to the store or we dont eat
What I'm missing from your list are the misspellings, Anders---can you give me a misspelt clue?
lol lol lol
not misspelling, ms. spelling. or singer ms. amos
lol, I mean miss t. spelling
kloo
(that's a misspellt clue)
Help.ow I'm up the usual ignorance crek. Who on earth is she?
google "spelling beverly hills 90210" hetty :)
obviously too young for us, hetty
I dont have time to google now. I'll try again later--thanks anyway
Hetty, if you want a misspelling clue, think of it as a misspelling of Margaret Thatcher's political party
think 90210!
Margaret Thatcher is my kind of woman.
Why's that, jrh?
Those numbers don't mean anything to me. I was as Jilli says born too long ago Thank s for t eThatcher clue, it worked
Vic: She can lift an amazing amount with her legs.
Yes, that's important in a woman!
hetty - the numbers are a zip code and a tv show we didn't watch
(Err?)
i'm missing the two to5,12s
anyone got a clue for the ko ^?
any hints for the U or the O on the right?
gave one yesterday -- last vowel + french king
the O on the right is a southern vegetable :)
o on right, southern veggie
that ko is driving me nutso
just gave the ko - last vowel etc
dang, i always wanna spell that with a C! hehe thanks!
os sorry jilli, didn't know that was your clue to me.
i should have specified, fit!
Hi, all.
any hints for the U then?
Hello, pwinn.
Thanks Jilli, that clue was right on the money :)
i have the "fancier" to 6/18 but not the other one - clues, please
no clues for to5?
The other to6/18 is a bullfighter, I think. Start with rip and then add beginning of street.
(I should say "ripped" as in this grid, and two letters of street, as in this grid.)
if that was for me I have the to6 but not the to5s
ta, vicuna - i had thought of it but couldn't find it and it was staring me in the face, duh
nevermind
to5/12's - one is gin and to---, the other is donut-shaped, but just switch the middle letter
what are the proper terms for those tenses of the 2 ripped words? past tense and past perfect tense?
I think so, hursh. But you could always think of the past perfect, if that''s what it is, as an adj.
ask hetty, the english professor!
well only if it is off by itself, not if it's in a sentence like "i have to4 the paper in half"
cant think of the donut shape. the only thing i can think of is torus but that don't work :)
You're right, jber. But make that torus into an adj form!
that's right jberg, now make it an adj
present perfect and participle
ok
what donut shaped one
i need the to4 unit of pressure
hi all, i'm back. and I have a story....
O m g... so I'm walking down the length of the shop floor for a meeting (the shop is where they actually make the gi-normous turbines and is a huge 3 football length field building that I work in). And there is this lovely huge shiny new turbine shaft (I think). It's all ready for loading onto the traincar that is pulling up for transport, and they are putting a bunch of saftey signs (you know, don't stick your ____ in the ____ icons) onto it... and there it is in big red capital letters: DO NOT HUMP.
jbp - don't think so, neither of them is present and participles are -ing
some days I love my job
present part is -ing also called gerund
hahahaha jbp!
past participle is verb form with I have ***ed...
but jbp, we're talking about the to4's
great story jbp! lol
who is writing my script, is what i want to know
;-)
so a to-donut shaped thing?
ojh, wait, i have it. Like ms. spelling
you have to help me a bit more. making an adj of torus wasn't in my englishclasses in sweden :)
or amos
please :)
met var inte meningen
jberg, all you really have to do is use the same ending as the other to5
to** amos or to* spelling
oh MY jberg, you are swedish??? you are doing amazingly well
jberg, it's like the drink with the middle consonant changed
sounds like a conservative english political party
i have that one, thx, and the ripped and the other ripped and need the 4th to4/4 which is a unit of pressure, i hear
how do you play
jilli, i'm missing that as well.; and the to 7/36 following it
They all have the same first 3 letters, jilli. Just change the last to the only possible letter you haven't used!
would someone please help me
hurshy. I was an exchange student in florida ~15 yrs ago. that made me almost fluent. after that I have always read englishjust as much as swedish
to_double consonant, jilli
got the to5! thanks
fifth.. go to angelsong's babblepage the link is below all this stuff at the bottom of the page
5th El... what do you need?
it helps everything
varsågod
as does licketysplitaus
fifth element, there is a "help" button to click above "my friends" above the chat log, and after you read that, you can go to AngelSong's babble page from the links down below the grid.
but mostly you just make words using the yellow boxes
did we find the kr words?
and if so, wanna share??
jbp, the first kr sounds just like Sinatra's singing, the second adds a vowel to the end thereof
Vic, you so rock!!!
got it Vi:) excellent!
Thank you!!!
did i miss the clue for to 7?
we're a friendly bunch, 5th El
debbinla, don't have it yet
im glad
kr has to do with estonia we have similar sounding ones here in sweden
yep
to7/36 - start with a 4-letter word for a guided visit, and add the last threee letters of the Mexican food in the grid today
omg, thanks Vic.
jpb do you know swedish or just a few words?
would be monkey typing for days for that
(It's a bird, by the way)
i lived in Sweden for a few years a long time ago
ok, cool
Vicuna - great clue as usual
i never get to use it now tho
( and the tu6 is an alternate spelling of the same bird)
thanks vicuna!
i dont get the clue
saw you were getting married in august, our date is sept 2nd
mexican food? Wha????
t +mine and yours+ vowel + abbreviation for business
mexican food, like the Bell
no, swedish is a rare language
JBerg, where?
south, Lund
a ta4,5 is a type of mexican food
where are you in Sweden?
ohhh
I lived in Mölnlycke, famous for toilet paper products
thats probably why so many of us know english rather well
lund in skåne
just by malmö
we should talk...mail me if you want off my webpage
we should talk...mail me if you want off my webpage
how many words today..please tell me not too many
spent a week or so in Ystad doing research once. I dig the south of Sweden!
134
134 total babs
ok. that's quite far from me.
only 134 today, babs.
sure
134 is a lot
more than i expected...thanks
how many have you had before
hard without the "s"
i have two so far
well, it's not THAT far. i mean compared to upstate NY///
re 6/21 pls? ty
It gets much worse, Fifth! but don't worry. Nobody expects you to find them all on your first day trying!
5th, don't get discouraged
this is hard
here I am halfway again and stuck!!
to use a book againm, Daisy
i like numbers not words
mi 5/20?
you should check the sodoku thing
*passes plate for fish* thanks jbp:)
when you finish a book and like it - you might re6/21
Hmm. Maybe you belong in Sudoku, then! But hang in here for a while!
mmmm. herring
i have the people are mean there
oh how I HATE suduko
ewww...couldn't Ihave catfish??
ewww back atcha Daisy...
ewww back atcha Daisy...
Oh dear. Well, we're very nice. But we do have lots and lots of words!
ant me to kick their butts for you? ;-)
yes please
mi 5/20?
well...I have 12 left. I am exhausted, LONG night last night....will try to nap, then come back for that dozen.
i think what makes this doubly addictive is that the game is fun and the people are great!
c ya TNDaisy
the folks here rock. it's a great way to brighten up cubicle-land
herring is nice :)
OK - I have two of the three sevens,: the funny birdthingie and what describes a joke worse than the last. Any help for the third??
Rest well, daisy!
re7/32 - the place where nuclear power is made
what does the joke one start with Tracy?
co/7, 32 (did I do that right?)
mi 5/20.. the plural for a unit of measurement equal to one millionth of a metre, apparently. I've never heard of it! but there you go.
what are you talking about
i am so lost
ok i have that one then.
vicuna - you are my new best friend!!!!
different people use different notations, tracymoo. the most common would be co7/32 or co7,32
How nice, tracymoo!
thanks cehess!!
ni5,14?
jbp - what do you mean, upstate ny? when I lived in nyc, "upstate" was about Poughkeepsie, not rochester or that area -- ???
how about ni 5/14?
welcome ^^
Schenectady.....
i still dont get it
:) hi-5 jbp
and jilly, that's only true for people from Da City
hi hi
5th element - took me weeks to catch on, but everyone will help you.....
still would be st 5/some point value
good because i am really lost
(still would be st5/10)
ni 5/14?
thanks Vic. i knew there was math involved/ ;-)
ni 5/14 is a type of battery
energizer?
everready?
duracell?
jbp, the point values can be very helpful. If you know how to figure them, sometimes they pretty much tell you what letters have to be in a word.
not quite ^^
yes.jbp, that's because Da City is the centre of the universe (note spelling of centre the brit way :)
yeah, Vic, but math, not my strong suit.
jbp - rechargeable kind
i love math
ah, you canadians and brits, spelling things properly ;-)
nickel?
5th, if you have gotten any words at all, you'll see it in your word list. See the numbers?
seriously, i'm blanking
The numbers are for letters and points.
nickel is the first half of it, jbp. The second half is cadmium.
those are brabd names... take first two letters of the stuff that makes you addicted to cigarettes, then add an unsavory male, a c**
where do you find the numbers for letters?
yes the two easest words i could find
jbp, take that coin and shorten it and combine it with another element.
omg, thanks, Erda& Vicuna!!
brabd = brand sorry
Okay, so maybe you've got the word that comes in decks of 52.
's ok, Erda.
They're on the letters themselves.. for instance, the W should have a little 5 on it
got it
5th - it really is best to do the one-time fee, cuz then you can see more
That's ca4/6, because it starts with ca (we only give the first two letters in hints) and has four letters, and the total is worth six points.
got it, thx
i have to pay???
oh, you're not talking to me...oops
I can't remember what's visible to non-payers, so I'm gonna log out and check.
you don't have to 5th.
you don't have to - it just make sit easier (at least for me)
No, you don't have to pay. You can play just fine for free. But if you do pay, you get a few extra pieces of information up on your screen.
re 5/10?
you can see everything for 2 weeks.. then you lose the tile stats, word counts, and fireworks at the end =(
toor
re5/10 lariat or lasso
sorry.........................
that is wierd that you see more when you pay
Ah, I'm in on my daughter's free account right now, and I see it all, but I just signed her up last week.
The only things that remain are the grid itself, the word list, and the chatterbox.
the fee is to help keep the site up
and we do want the site to stay with us!!
That makes sense.
"And already the axe is laid at the **** of the trees."
i see
Fifth, since you're new, you're seeing everything there is.
Did my explanation of ca4/6 make sense?
nice one douglas!!
a little did
Do you have that word?
What a grand entrance, douglas!
ah thatnks for the rope clue, Une
"You may be a state trooper, you might be a young ****, You may be the head of some big TV network"
yw :-)
no i dont have that word
the re4 right before it? i know i'll need the fish on this
It's ca4/6, which means it's four letters, CA**. They come in decks of 52.
i mean the re 4 right AFTER it
ohhhhhh thank you!!!!!
what's the other ca4,6?
well, I have 66 words in all (seems to kinda fit the day, eh?) and all the 7-letter ones, so I'm taking off for a while. You guys are great!! see you later
Any charity on the ko6?
A bit more detail, 5th: Since it's worth six points, and is only four letters (meaning all point values are not multiplied) and since CA is worth three points already, that means the remaining two letters must be worth another three points.
ca +princess ** (english, deceased)
Bye, tracymoo.
In what seems like a previous life, but really wasn't, I played John the Baptist in a church production of Godspell, where that was part of my speech...
So one of the other letters is worth one point, and one is worth two. You can ignore and high-point letters in the area, as well as any combinations that are only single-point letters.
one more kudo for all the non English-as-a-1st-language folks - you ROCK for even attemptting this!!!
oh ok
thx jbp
k+yours&mine+2 vowels
yw
only 29 left :)
And as jbp has pointed out, there is at least one other ca4/6 as well, a less-common word.
This game is non-trivial even for people with extensive English vocabularies
Thanks jbp
Go, jberg, go!
I believe kudo is not a word and kudos is a greek singular everyone misunderstands
you got that douglas (looks like I'm taking a Babble break to babble)
I'm down to 3.... 1 oc and 2 ta words
what is a hit for the other word
5th, I think the only other thing you *really* need to know is the existence of "Lickey's Babble Clues" from the list of links at the bottom of the page.
pwinn, i need a hint for that less-common ca 4/6...
jberg rocks! i woudn't try this in swedish OR german, and I'm fluent in both....
well, i might, but only if I lost a bar bet. ;-)
(To paraphrase Britney Spears, "Hint me, baby, one more time!")
ca + princess **
jbp gave the hint at 2:54: ca +princess ** (english, deceased)
thank you pwinn
oc plus the counselor in ST:TNG
thanks jberg!
jbp - great clue at 2:54
So, where does one go if one wants to pay some money??? Huh?
What does the eight-letter word start with?
yes, thx but i can't think of the dead english princess in 3 letters!

I have one to 5 that was just clued... *thinking some more*
kallia mo sounds like the crunchy you put on salad
you get stretched on the ra 4/9
rymes with the japanese bed
jeffer, the othe one starts like the whale but ends in what whales have
One of my school teachers read Charlotte's Web to us many years ago...Curious what one remembers...There was a Hanna Barbera Charlotte's Web movie made about 20 years ago, that my children enjoy.
stid: did u get the no8?
The live-action Charlotte's Web is due out soon.
no Temple, still out in noman's land on that one!
to4/6 mans name
kallia, thx
was there a clue? *head off to join stid in NML*
I'm down to double digits in words left...woo-hoo, woot, and other celebratory expressions...
yw
Reminds me of my own favourite redaing to my children--anythng by Beatrix Pott6er. She makes no concessions so my kids knew what soporific meant before they were two
stid, how many words left? :)
yw ...cant get the mo clue though
firefly, I have 45 to go.
is today supposed to be mask day?
Marked by an elegant or exclusive manner or quality
go douglas go!
sitd: i think i'll finish with the late crew...
lol, i have 54
nonchalant is NOT in the grid!
kallia, it rymes with a japanese bed
Kalllie: MO + vowel + 2000 pounds (In America, at least)
lol hetty finally got it ty
The Series of Unfortunate Events books are like that, hetty,
stid, TO, do you want a NO clue?
i thought i was doing quite well but i still have 38 to go!!!
I'll try to find it and be on later to help! :-)
today is masquerade day
The Fiz: yes, they do. ;-)
Sitd: there was an earlier clue about night animals then a star trek referene i did not get
mo 6 - it is French for "sheep" I think...
ty I got it now...and finished!
okay, thanks, will go back and surf the log for those clues...
Sheepskin that has been sheared and processed to resemble beaver or seal
yes please Fiz!
Congrats, Kallia!
YAY kallia!
ty
If you remember it, I might be of some assistance with the Star Trek reference
so, how many words today?
OK - NO 8: first 4 letters like a night animal, 5th vowel, ending for a space rock or robot or performance enhancing drug.
I have lifetime Trekkie credibility, having discovered an error at startrek.com
wow Douglas, what was it?
Yay Kallia - sorry, I was typing.
that is a really dumb no word, thanks for the help Fiz!
134v mark
thanks Fiz
ty stidmama
there goes my monkey - typing in the same words that didn't work earlier today...*hands monkey another banana*
YW. Don't know what it means but it looks like a good candidate for those games where you make up definitions...
down to 43. (a robot that functions only at night?)
53 here stid :(
(maybe...)
I think "urcad" should be a word. The ultimate bad date...
you mean neologisms, fiz...
John Fielder, who was the voice of Piglet, died last year. I didn't realize it, but he played the role of Commissioner Hengist in the TOS episode "Wolf in the Fold." The picture they had for him was the picture of a different actor, the one who played Prefect Jarvis, the guy with the incredibly hot wife who was skilled at the Argelian empathic contact.
Sure, TO - we just call it "definitions" but "neologisms" certainly sounds smarter...
can some kind soul take pity on me and put me out of my ur-misery?
ohhh, too complicated for a casual Trekkie like me, but very cool you were tuned in to such a guffaw :)
I'm confused on the no8. I must be misunderstanding the clue. The last part is four letter, the first part is four letters, and there is a vowel joingin them. That's nine letters. I've got something wrong!
ur+ 3 vowels in order
pwinn, you take off the R for the second set...
thanks the Fiz *wakes up monkey*
last part is 3 letters, first is 5
hi kids!
that is the most ridiculous word I have ever seen!
Ah, well, that makes much more sense. Thanks! :)
Hi Boreetos!
hi boreetos! lovely day isn't it? a trifle humid though...
I think that ridiculous word is a plural.
Hello boreetos!
haha! the monkey is back! *pats monkey on head and offers banana*
Entomologists got that one easy, I guess.
Just 61 words so giving up goodnight folks
yes it is very nice out. we've got the bay doors all the way open in the shop today, so I can atleast see the outside, even if I'm not out enjoying it.
okay, who needs a clue? I've got plenty
I'm half-done! W00t!
Hooray, pwinn
now how does billmster have a gray gender indicator??
it's an adjective. For a night-flying moth.I ask you......
go pwinn go!
anders, did you just finish?
woo! I just got an icon.
finished this morning.
good night billmster... see you tomorrow!
way to go jrh!
but jrh, the theme is Masquerade... ;)
Firefly- edit your profile and instead of "male" or "female" just pick the blank space. Libarebel and I did it for a while and found it quite liberating....
i think if you don't specify gender, you get a grey one. Grey is the color of adrogeny. :)
oh -- then do you mind helping me with the to? specifically the second 5/12 and the 7/36...
Icon warming gifts can be sent to my home...
I didn't realize this, but a bloody **** is a prized piece of weaponry in Everquest
You would think the color of androgeny would be more intersting...
Grey is also the color of the hair I have left after playing babble for three months... LOL
ROFLMAO Fiz!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the answer :)
well, on my monitor it does look a little purple... ;-)
stid: you have hair left? What's your secret?
yeah perhaps... maybe a nice purple or seomthing.
Congrats, JRH! It's a big day
gray works for androgeny...think aliens
to 5/12 = miss t. spelling, 7/36 sightseeing + vowel + short for company
I start pulling from the back so as to hide the damage... but of course I am going gray from the front!
And... back from the acronym dictionary - YW, firefly...
what would be cool is if there were a little color slider and we could pick the precise color of the little dude or dudette that we wanted.
thanks anders! those worked!
I'm getting with today's theme...
my blue guy would be a little more electric, I think.
Ooh - I'd be green and purple striped - would yoru slider accomodate?
oh yeah, you could do all sorts of combos, stripes, checkers, whatever.
I would definitely be green if I had a choice -- plants and stuff, you know.
It's not easy, being green...
Hi All!! I want to be bright pink!!!!
hi Schro!
actually i;d consider a nice sage green. The color besides grey i wear the most is grey-green. I'd probably go with something like that.
Well lucky you, Schroeder!
One should repent from the *****s of one's ways
jrh402s-- love your icon--rat & pig!
LOL...I'm so happy the sun is out, no rain, no snow!!!
The Fall 2005 New York Fashion Week was quite fond of a green that was a little darker than hunter green, called burnt olive...
if it snowed here today i'd laugh
it's like 98 or something
interesting. I've had burnt olives. They smell terrible, and taste even worse. I'm not sure that's a color i'd sport too proudly.
burnt olives? (snort)
I've never eaten burnt olives, but the color seems to work as a background, with yellow text.
Hi Mark!! It's in the 80's here but snowed just a week ago!!!
hi
hint for the 8 letter word?
okay, I am down to 40 words and going to take a break from babbling -- want to get a little more done before I have to take kids to music lessons etc.

this is the first time
Hi Reese's - welcome back!
yellow text huh? interesting. yes, garlic stuffed, I'm all behind, but burnt, no thanks. They smell like bad greek food when they're burnt.
hi reese's - you don't have to introduce yourself, your name does it for you ;)
I believe I would like a garlic stuffed olive to go with a dry martini...

M3 - you listen to audio broadcasts on it

We need a nice contraction for "It's pointless to complain about the sins of omission and comission of the ENABLE dictionary."
"Video killed the ***** star"
*slinks back in to hear clue Fiz wants*

See you soon, TheFiz

night M3
love the theme today- it kinda goes with the whole 6/6/6 thing
how do you know what the theme is
It's a pity that the whole 6/6/6 thing distracted from the 62nd anniversary of D-Day
ah, very good point Douglas - it sure is
By the theme, bobkat, we are referring to the theme of the buddy icons...the puzzle doesn't have a theme, as far as I know...
bobkat - the theme is in Babbler's profile, you can find it on lickety's page, linked at the bottom
oh, new to this game
yeah the theme of the actual puzzle every day is the same, "high addiction"
last one MO624, a clue please..........thanks
mo 6/24 looks a lot like a breadcrumb for salad, Nancy
Hello Babblers! I don't get to say 'hi' much, but I miss you all!

Ahhh, hence Douglas' mask etc.
If you're down on your luck in Estonia, ask someone "Buddy, can you spare a *****?"
re7/32 anyone?
re7/32: the one at Chernobyl blew
Hi SWMBO!!!!!
The Heritage Foundation sez Estonia is more economically free than the US
Hello Cadfan!!!
Douglas, what do they mean by that?
I've heard some people say that Chernobyl is the word for "Wormwood," and thus we are already living in the great Tribulation...
Oh dear...
http://www.heritage.org/research/featu res/index/indexoffreedom.cfm...
thanks for the clue swmbo
Layne, they measure a number of different factors to come up with these rankings.
down to 26 words, all 5 or 6 letters, think i'll take a break
Good for you firefly779!
you are welcome, Firefly779
thanks Doug, but i'm "cheating" with the list ;)

good evening, everyone!
Can't get the Ur5/12 no matter WHAT!! help??
I'm in beyond awe at the people who don't use the list or the chatlog
can't help ya erda, standing in line behind you :)
I have to toddle. Only 71 words. I rarely get more than half these days, I just don't have the time. It was nice to chat a bit though...
Erda, there's a perfectly good reason you can't get it . . . it's an insane word!
Erda, ur + the first three vowels.
lol Helen
UR 5/12: ur + first, second, and third vowels
tx vioxx
hi - back with 52 words to go, starting with ac 5/12, 5/14, and ac 6/30 - any help available?

Ac5/12: male Thespian
I could use Ac6/30 though

Thanks for the AC clues, y'all!
lynxxx: ac + fifth vowel + neuter pronoun + y
ac 6/30 is the 2nd ac 5/12 only more so
A New York Times article on lawn mower pollution mentioned "an ***** chaser of hydrocarbons"
sorry, that was ae 6/30

Layne -- I just saw your clue too --- thanks.
A little bit from "Everything You Know Is Wrong," a comedic classic by the Firesign Theatre...
YW, stidmama.
hi kristinc
Whoa, did you say Firesign Theatre? A blast from the past!
hi debb...nice icon!
hi kristin! how are you doing?

Is it just me, or is this grid fiendishly difficult?
co5,12? anybody?
can anyone help with the di6/27
got one of them, the one with apples
di 6/27: what happens to the lights when there's not enough electricity.
di 6/27: a compound word.
layne...I'm going to use the list today and haven't recently...strange words and very few seem to build off one another...so, I agree
The other C)5.12 is what a dove is / says
there's a co 5/12 that describes a dove making sounds
There do seem to be quite a few Phantom words in this one...bwahahaha...
Actually, I'm glad to hear it, kristinc. I thought I had lost my edge!
co is the person that whispers sweet nothings into a love ones ear
ty layne
nope Layne (unless both of us have) :)
Douglas, your creepy icon is lurking and laughing evilly . . .
er5/12?
okay, back later for my other half (with the list) ta-ta!
er 5/12 is a type of heather and a girl's name
does anyone have er 5/10?
got the co5,12 thx
er5/10 a mistake
jilibus, er 5/10 is when you goof up.
Sometime after I got this icon, I felt this sudden urge to kidnap a talented young singer and make her into a diva...clothes make the villain, you know...
well i keep trying for the mistake word but can't link to the final r
jillibus, thanks for the er clue!
Douglas, just be sure you stay in your box and don't cross over any of the lines :-)
jilibus, just type it.
across, diagonal, diagonal the other way, jillibus
hi everyone......i think i am being a bit thick but just cannot get the no8/55...can anyone help please?
good advice, layne!
It's certainly not a word I ever use, mo...The prefix is from the Latin for night...
off to a meeting... bbl to finish
retreat is a Phantom word...
Douglas thanks but i am not very good at Latin!!!
Douglas, might we have a clue for the second part of the 8?
Well, animals that roam about at night are called...
In the movie "Goode Burger," Kenan said to Kel, "I don't want to look at you, I don't want to listen to you, I don't want to use words with the letter u!"
Got it Douglas, thanks. I had never heard this adjective form of the word . . .
no8 isfirst 4 letters for night plus last vowel, 4th vowel,3rd vowell and consonant
dictionary.com doesn't know it either...
hello
Hello, Samy.
hello laye
*layne
Samy, we are twins!
Douglas thank you ....finally got it thanks to you
thanks chic!
you and who?
Weezer has a song with the lyrics "Where I come from isn’t all that great My automobile is a piece of crap My fashion sense is a little **** And my friends are just as screwed as me."
yw mo
yw, debb!
You and me, Samy. We look just alike. (You CAN see the player icons?)
o yes sorry
:-)
BYE
Thanks, Douglas. Had to Google it.
Bye, Samy. Nice chatting with you.
For reasons I don't understand, they play that song as part of the background music at the Perkins restaurant in Golden Vallen, MN
There are many good reasons not to frequent Perkins.
Oh, wait, sorry. You must go there if you know the music.
Douglas, was it you who was asking about the KFC chicken-corn-mush bowl?
In H. M. S. Pinafore, Buttercup sings "I've chickens and ****s And pretty polonies And excellent peppermint drops!"
eeewwww that thing looks gross....chicken and potatoes and gravy and corn and cheese....GROSS
Although the puzzle seems to spell it slightly differently than what I recall Buttercup singing.
scribble, I just saw it on tv last night for the first time. I thought it looked like what my brother did with his Sunday dinner when he was 9.
Indeed yes! Peg Kaplan at the blog what if? seems to consider it the definitive test between male and female http://moot.typepad.com/what_if /2006/06/the_difference_.html
Douglas, it worked at our house. My husband wants to go try one, and I say he's going alone.
anybody tried the quebecois poutine? french fries with gravy and cheese curds
scribble, you fit the profile perfectly...I have yet to find a woman who considers such a concoction to be yummy...the only man who didn't express interest in a KFC Famous Bowl was gay.
LOL Douglas --- I was just passing through and saw your comment. My husband thinks it looks disgusting but he is DEFNITELY NOT gay:-))
I am struggling with the Os - have only the vege and the whale. Any help greatly appreciated. Also AEs - nver can see them. TY
hmmm....douglas do you find it appetizing?
jilli, i had the poutine many years ago when i was in quebec. my husband loved it, not i.
LOL, musicmom!
I have to agree - i don't want all that mushed together
I need 2 7's. I have the CO one.
I had one a few days ago on the recommendation of the blog Fraters Libertas, and I enjoyed it. I believe the KFC folks intend for the contents to be mixed, resulting in long strings of melted cheese.
lynxxx, I have an or 4/5. O + first three letters of that old Sylvania lisening device.
re7 and to 7
It is also about a $1.00 cheaper than KFC's usual offerings.
Alien, the RE 7/32 is like Chernobyl, a nuclear re*****.
Douglas, how big a draw is that $1 cheaper thing?
oc6 - first three letters of a fall month+french king
sylvania listening device?
Husband's home and it's dinner time. We will not be eating mush:-)
The $1 cheaper thing is relatively irrelevant...
thanks for the clue, musicmom.
jilibus, what people listened to before they had TV's.
Ditto musicmom.
thx again, layne, silly me
Well, that oc 6 certainly isn't a word I use every day. Or any day, for that matter...
bye peopleses...gonna go eat. c-ya all in a little while! :-)
the oc 6 is not a terribly useful concept in the US of A.
bye scribble, nice icon
I have three y4s, any hints for the otherwise?
hehe thx nut :)
ttfn scribble
evil scribble of DOOOOOOM
Douglas - gin and ..... for YO5.16
and you can shorten that for another Y4
For some reason I'm having difficulty with KO 6/33 - any clues??
I have that y4 of which you speak...ooh, what a naughty, naughty boy Dr_God has been...
Thanks for the yo5/16, lynxxx
This is a bugger of a puzzle.
the ko 6/33 is most likely a species of tropical monkey found only in Madagascar...
oldhouse - because its horrid. Try K-yours and mine-french king
yay! fireworks for me!!!
oops - but lose the start of french king - you will already have one.
Yay, jbergenudd!!
A sculpture representing a standing nude young man, especially one produced in Greece before the fifth century B.C. And you think I'm creepy for wanting to kidnap a talented young singer and make her into a diva! Those ancient Greeks, you gotta keep an eye on them!
thanks lynxxx, monkeyed the end and got it.
first one and with english as second language :)
******yay, jpergenudd!!!!!!!!!!!******
jbergenudd, I bow before your most excellent awesomeness!
hi all, i've been working on and off on the grid this morning and with the kids distracting me, now i need clues!!
yay jpergenudd!!
Hi Fran!
hi annie!
can i get a clue for the t7
i'll be back some other day...
i need that one too alien
Thanks for the help !!
I now have exactly half the words, which I consider a major moral victory. Farewell, all...
no list today, going in and out of grid all day, know i wont be able to finish. but fun just the same.
later douglas
farewell douglas
Farewell, Evil One.
T7 = to4/5 + start of RA 6.21 (lose the r)
AEs - pls help with anything. TY
lynxx, one is home for an eagle
lynxxx, think of "more of that invisible gas we breathe," but change the second vowel to an e.
clue for ae plural for birds nest built on a mountain or cliff
Judy_2u, see my clue to lynxxx, and follow it. The other 2 ae's will come to you then.
the ae6/18 is the eagle's home with a consonant on the end that makes it sound like more airy
clue for ae pertaining to an aircraft
TY all - I have a real blind spot with AE !
layne I have have it just wanted to help
Oh, sorry!
clue for the ac5/12 that is after the foul tasting one?
AC 5/12 work on stage
Fran, you may need a fish. The clue is, "thespian."
you're right layne, throw it over!!!
One large mackeral, coming up!
where does the fish come from?
what's the history behind?
jbergenudd, when someone misses a common or obvious word, they say, "slap me with a fish," or some such.
is the ac6/30 just as easy?
ac 6/30 is not so obvious OR common. Think mental sharpness, also called mental ac****.
thanks layne, knew it had to have the Y couldn't see how to connect them!
YW, FranMag.
Easy word with the clue when I wasn't having my ac 6 wasn't working well. Thanks Layne
LOL, Munner!
munner, you are looking very festive, is that one of the masks from eyes wide shut?
I don't know. I just thought it looked cheery!
Your lovely mask looks rather Mardi Gras-ish to me, and I like that!
funny, i picked mine because it reminded me of the masque of the red death! not cheery at all.
I tried to find one from {Phantom of the OPera but could never get one to upload properly.
Adieu, evening babblers. The long lovely twilight beckons me to go outdoors.
night layne!
Have a lovely evening, Layne. I'll be leaving soon as my husband thinks at this moment I am getting tidied up to go out for a bite to eat.
lol munner!
Oh, Munner. The heartbreak of addiction!
clue for ko6/33 anyone?
When I hear him walking upstairs, I will frantically run to the bathroom and pretend I'm just finishing.
it's okay, because they think we take too long anyway!
Fran, the 1st 3 letter sound like an animal that moos, then add the French king
thanks munner, i'll work on that
conic
to7?
sorry i dont know how this got in
waiting for that one too angelsong!
got the KO, thanks munner!
Hi Babblers... joining the chat for the last lap here..
TO 7 = TO4/5 + start of RA6/21. Swap for AR6/18?
this was fun, but tricky. completed it now. first-timer, swede signing out. will def. come back, after some sleep. ;)
lynxxx, ar6/18 sounds like apart of abody that joins two bones, but use R instead of J
and take out an r from that TO7 clue (sorry)
wtg feki!! see you again
lynxxx, i don't have that ra6/21 yet!
Thanks Fran - I must have given the clue for that 3 times yesterday!!
that's right, it was in yesterday's grid too
Fran - take an r out of the clue that I gave you

last ra5/12 anyone?
firefly, how could i miss that!
the re5/10 is a lasso, it's been in here before, maybe yesterday or the day before
Yo, did I miss a clue for the second ra6/21? am missing that plus a tu6/24: any help will be SO appreciated!
i barely found it myself jillibus, after having the 7 since earlier today ;)
it was yesterday firefly
when you type #/# what does that mean? this my first time playing.
Marisun - it's the number of letters and number of points
second ra6/21 is a mischievous animal with rings on its tail
I thought the lasso was a ri...
marisun, try link for angelsong's babble page, it explains everything
it's also re jilli
thanks
TU 6.24 ends in the RA 6.21 animal
yes, jilliut ri***-- must be an alternate spelling...
oh, geez, I had the ring-tailed creature, FranMag... thanks anyway... (alt. spelling)
i have the ro4/4 plant thing, need 2 other ro 4/4s

oh man, i'm trying to stay awake to finish this! and it's only 8:26pm here!

ni 5?14?
Anyone need any clues?
yes i do - the cr 5/12
still figuring things out, LOL
I have a long way to go
cr5/12- think Bing Crosby (it is also a kr)
you'll get the hang of it :)
sorry - i meant cr 5 14
That one is harder to clue :)
never mind - mokey typed it
i have one more the ta 5/12 -
(it is hard to clue!!)
ta + first three letters of ro 4/9
thank you Jen, I got the no8 at last. I am going to give up on the other four that I need. It's well past my bedtime, so I'm going to crash now.. goodnight

ty, bgl and debbinla
hi everyone! i;m back to finish off 35 -plenty of time before i need to resort to the list :)
Welcome back, helenkeller!
hi, helenkeller
love the mask
hi everyone...newbie here...not sure i understand your clues... what does " ni+1st ca4/6-last vowe" mean?
i'm new also...
all right, 8 more to go -- 2nd cr 5/12 anyone?
lol jen - i considered using the one you chose! checked out their web site & everything, lol
:o)
ni are the first two letters, the letter has 4 letters and is worth 6 points
im new as well.
of course, being from chicago, i can't very well give props to new york, unless absolutely necessary :)
ocnfish, the clue means to take ni, add the ca word with 4 letters (worth six points), but to take away the last vowel. Clear as mud?
Let's see how to explain this. any time there is a #/# it refers to the number of letters and the number of points the word is worth. The initial letters are the first two letters of the word. You can find these on Lickety's page at the bottom.
but learning quickly
thanks marisun
oh helen, you just think you're so smart, don't you? well, i happened to have done the grid without the list and finding each word backward. ha! :D
Jen, I am still trying to figure out your clue for the no 8. Those letters didn't add up to 8 for me, but then my brain is on slow speed.
marisun = smart :)
munner - i tried it too, the clue is wrong -use the first 4 letter of the evening word
Thanks helen and Jen. I got it.
hey munner nice icon
sorry about that -- glad you got it anyway!
last comic standing is one - i loved it last year, my fav was dave mordell - deadpan & hystrical :)
marsun and soulless, at the bottom of the page you will see a link to Angelsong's Babble Page -- it will tell you everything you need to know. Welcome.
lol shorty & munner - nice ****'s
hi all. back for a few before dinner... down to 24!
thank you
anyone have the second cr 5/12? Did I miss it?
hi everyone

Oh, no! On top of everything else, I now have double vision!
cr+what you get out of a mine
time to monkey
good evening everyone. Back to try to finish things off.
hi helen! how has your day gone? Jen! you've changed! LOL
oh, ty, bgl!
yes, the lips were a little scary :o)
hey Ping... I am working backwards today -- does anyone have the oc word?
im still clueless, lol
hi Eva!
oc: prefix meaning 8 + french word for king
hi stid-was just typing you a clue, but Jen got there first
Jen, just checked out your icon and remembered that your are from Nashville. My son and his wife have lived there a year and are looking to buy a home. What are some good school districts? Their oldest will be 4 in July.
thanks Jen.
I'm also a teacher :)
i teach secon grade
are they looking to live right in town or in a surrounding area?
seond grade
I noticed that--thus, the question :)
marisun, i loved second grade -- so much fun
teaching it, I mean, lol
good thing I dont teach typing
lol
stid - i had a good day - got my hair done (back to it's original color - blonde, lol) then worked hard in the garden 3 hours, then went to a massage, now back for the last 33, how's your day been?
He works for ATF in Brentwood. His wife likes being a little "in the country", but they don't want him to have to travel too far to work. Of course, we'd like them on the side of Nashville closer to us in Atlanta!
mida
I taught every grade from K through high school--favorites were 3rd, 5th, and middle school.
of course! Brentwood is actually a very good area, plus Franklin, which is south of Brentwood. Pretty muich anywhere in south Nashville, you'll have a pretty good school district
Okay, just checked tomorrow's theme. Who is Lenny Bruce?
you are a brave woman to teach middle school :)
not as good a day as yours Helen! LOL but not half bad. lovely weather, so even though I was not home for much of the time, it was still good to be "out"
They're definitely not loaded with money since he's just beginning his career, but they are great money managers.
Lenny was a comedian, right?
k word hints pleeez
franklin can be expensive, but you can find some property more "out in the country" that is cheaper and still close to good schools
I loved middle school when i taught. Now I do youth minsitry and love the middle school group.
I agree. Anyone who teaches middle school and enjoys it is a little or a lot wierd themselves. I qualified :)
7th grade girls were the worst
what is today's theme?
kr5/18 - see your cr5/12
I greatly admire middle school teachers, esp. -- you all have to deal with the burgeoning hormones, etc.
Hi everyone, help with the no8 please
Them is masquerade balls
lol i don't have a cr5/12 yet!
Bing Crosby was a cr***er.
bgl - 33, huh ? & don't know lenny bruce, what's this world coming to - he's basically the reason for the necsessity of the rating system - raunchy, dirty, brutally honest
Sometimes I lived a sheltered life...
cu 5/14 -- anyone?
hey munner, i'll put my two cents in here, i thought that 8th grade girls were the worst creatures on the earth, it takes a saint to teach middle school. i teach high school:
i enter that and it says it's not found =(
I will probably pass on the Lenny Bruce theme and post a new photo of one of my little grandsons my son sent me yesterday
he died long ago, early 60's, i think
kr6/30 is the 5/18+vowel
gee munner, i hope no will think it's lenny bruce as a young man, lol
jen, first five letters of the monkey, *****us George
high school teachers are also sainted beings, in my opinion :)
cu5/14 a type of cabinet for collectibles
My daughter thought I was totally nuts to stay in middle school. She taught half a year of 6th grade, quit, and went to a new district and loved teaching 4th grade.
ty, ping!
jen-cu5/14 -things you might find in an antique shop-also think of the monkey...C_____ George
still need help with no8 please
ok call me retarded buti don't have any K's and i can't enter cr***er as in bing crosby because it says not found
I taught sophomore English for two years and despised it!
and ty bgl
The real saints in our crazy district are the bus drivers and the cafeteria workers. They take so much abuse.
thanks eva
not so much what bing is but what he does
i love elementary school -- they're so excited about school -- plus, you have a size advantage :o)
and the janitors!
peri: Latcin for "night" + a vowel + last three letters of "robot"
kierlex-forget the er ending
what does bing crosby do?
i used to teach high school english
Are we noticing that Babble seems to be a magnet for teachers past and present?
try this one for the cr - ra6/21 (the animal)-ra+r after the c
right, rhymes with spooner, correct?
i did a lot of research in the chicago public schools (grammar & high), spent alot of time in teacher lounges, i have nothing but the utmost respect for almost all of them
yes, but remove the "Er"
use the verb kierlex
and probably writers and wanna bes
di 6/27, pls -- only 6 left!
ohhhhh. i see. i have that one. doh! i was misunderstanding
Doesn't anyone want to help me with the no8?
I have been such a parasite today. I actually found a lot of words myself but now have just 4 left thanks to great clues in the log.

it is the only job that on a good day i can't believe they pay me to do, and on a bad day i still love it
Sorry, peri, I thougth someone had already clued it for you
well said, onyx
no8---it sounds like a cross between an animal who stays up at night, and rides around on those rocks that go around the sun in a belt between Mars and the other planets.
periwinkle, I did clue you at 8:16.
Harpjane, love the clue! ;)
stidmama, sorry I didn't see your clue, the log is moving much too fast. I am not trying to figure it out, thanks
I meant: I am now trying to figure it out

At 60 left, I decided to go to Lickety's list, so now I'm at 57.
ar 6/18 ar + don't get your nose out of j****
lol
Oh, I know. I just wonder how it is that I'm exhausted and she's still going strong... She's been in bed for an hour and a half now, but won't go to sleep.
lodestar, when you know the points you just type every combo possible
lodestar, go to Angelsong's BAbble page, link on the bottom, for ideas!
di 6/27?
how old is scout scoutsmom?
Been lurking here for a few weeks...just upgraded to Pro (oh! the shame!). So... what gives with words in the grid that aren't in the dictionary?
thanks Fran* & Harp*
stid, it's a compound word, what the lights do during a power fluctuation
di + ***** Rushmore (minus the n)
She'll be three at the end of july. High spirited. Tiring.
hi jakawie! the "enable" dictionary that finds words is not identical with the webster's that is used for definitions
TY for the di clues! down to ten now...
scoutsmom, my son turned 3 in Feb, he won't take naps anymore unless he's unable to move, like in his carseat for example.
a clue on the 8 pls
She naps, sometimes 2 hrs at a time on weekends. About an hour at school on weekdays. But afraid she'll miss something... hate to tell her there's nothing more exciting going on than babble and PBS.
my kids nap best in carseats too
deef, it's a wierd one, n+first 3 letters of 10th month+letter that is not me+last 3 letters of artificial human
deef: n + prefix that means 8 + fifth vowel + a robot is an andr***
co5/12 after the co4/7 animal, please?
Scout's too busy waving at drivers and dancing in her car seat to nap.
to, a dove is a co***
TO, something that removes co4/5s
er clue again please?
the ar 4/5 that is not dry?
scout sounds like a fun child, tiring maybe but fun
ty fran...
thanx all
ty jen...
ar 4/5 used to be a gas company
thanks knitter!
yw :)
stid, a oil company, ar+abbrev. for company
yw TO

never mind...

go stid, go stid
co5--one who makes dove sounds
thanks lib good clue
yw, mari :)
Can't for the life of me find the two Cr/5s... Can anybody help please???
Thanks for the 411 Stid. What percentage (roughly) of the 'regulars' actually finish each grid? It must take forever! I mean, I'm a pretty smart cookie but some of these words are just obscure!
ae 5/10?
erda, frank sinatra cr***s
could I get a clue for the tu 6 pls?
have that one; need two others
there are three cr 5 Erda, I am looking for the last, a cr 5/14; the cr 5/12 are "sing" and cr +what metal is made from
erda there are three of them
AE is the eagle's nest
ae 5: eagle's nest.
cadfan, a nest built high on a cliff or tree
crawd
cr5/12, cr+mineral deposits
tu 6 is tu + first four letters of ra 6/21
for the ae6 add r
many of us finish, but we work on it in spurts. There are a few who are really brilliant (you'll meet them probably) but most of us either resign ourselves to not finishing or give up portions of our other activities....
Ae 5/10 is like ae 4/4, drop the last vowel, add two others.
oh for crying out loud -- sorry
cr5/14, cr+not me+this ** that
cr5: The coloring matter of the blood; the clotted portion of coagulated blood, containing the coloring matter; gore.
i like to give up a large portion of my workday to babble, personally
jeez.. some days I'm a completely blind idiot. Thanks
thanks for the 5/14 Fran!
yw stid! thanks for letting us know what it is TO!
down to 6...
go stid!!
okay, I must go -- have to clean my house. My poor husband is living in squalor, thanks to my babble addiction. See you all tomorrow!

Hi all!

TO, cu*** cabinet
good night Jen
Jen, thanx for that clue! :-)

I'm just happy when I can get a few of the gray boxes filled in...
hi woulfie! no way fran mag - typed that...oh, my poor babble-addled brain...
hiya grey :)
hi greywoulf!
hi Woulf!
Hey Temple, helen, Fran, and stid!!
thanks fran , I guess I am thinking to hard.. lol
So how's things tonight?
i asked for a clue for one of those too marisun, sometimes i look for the strange words without seeing the simple ones!
cu5--cu***sity killed the cat...
this is a very twisty grid today
It took me a bit to see that one as a result, libarebel -- thanks!
brb, have to cook some veggies for the baby
yw, grey :)
hiya lib :)
okay - ante is a word but cardio isn't?
hey, helen! :D
I need an or 4/5 and a 5/12? I have the or 5 that has to do with books...
or4 might be a whale, or a word meaning towards the mouth
ante is how you start the pot in a poker game
thanks TO.
"fish" LOL!
hi helen! did u get that audition tape in?
So has there been any word from Dr_God about all the problems the site has been having the past week or so
?
i am looking for an in4 - talk about pathetic!
One of the or's, Stid, is the whale; the or4/5 that is. The or5/12 looks similar, but ends with opp of out
I wasn't thinking of that - bad example I guess - seems there are abbreviations that are okay - but heck - cardio is used as a stand alone word anymore...
gw: he was on earlier saying he had to take the site down- the problem has not yet been identified
okay! thanks to you Hetty I am down to three!
Wanting to help you, Stid, having just finished.
hi to! yep we sure did - i'll be shocked if they call us, it was so rushed, so last minunte, very, very choppy & bad - that's my friend - she overschedules everything & then can't give 100 % to anything, i'm kinda mad at her & taking time to cool off - beside, it was her badgering me for years ! to do this thing
i have the in preposition and the in close to it but a different ending vowel...
thanks TO -- I hope it is resolved soon, it can be very frustrating to try to log on from work so I can destress only to find it is down
but thanks for asking to, that was thoughtful of you :)
still trying to get cr5/14 -- any help???
CadFan -- the problem is that the enable dictionary which babble uses is one of the dumbest dictionaries out there
hk: you never know....good luck!
LOL - hey - I guess no one can expect any game to have every single word known to man....
cardio is a prefix. not that that necessarily disqualifies a word by enable
thanks to :)
my last word is a co 4/6 after the old bird...
ae5/10 please?
YAY Hetty!
stid: is your puter plugged in?
True, CadFan -- I think the real limitation is that enable may be the only one that let's people access it for cheap or free.... I say this because every online vocab game seems to use it
congrats hetty
cr5/14 is going to make me start screaming.....
fish please.... thanks Temple Owl!
It is free, yes.
here I am done; I give a few clues if needed...
yay, stid!
think of the silver co** that ties mother to child
http://personal.riverusers.com/~thegre ndel/software.html
yay phand
cr5/14...
cr + our misspelled
and thanks hetty! all done now!
Thanks for the confirmation of my hypothesis, pwinn :)
cr5/14 begins like the opp of kind, then becomes second part of Either/Or equation
Thank you, THANK you phand..... whatever it means!!!
stid ican you please clue me my missing in4? then all of the krs? then...LOL1
Thanks for being the only other registered male person I've ever seen here. :-)
Fireworks -- thanks for the help, guys
Congrats, Erda!

I've got 40 left, and my brain's just not functioning. My wife just finished piano practice, so I think I'm gonna let her have the puter and try again tomorrow.
di 6/27 "lights down"
pwinn -- there are a few of us, but according to the Frappr babble map, we are outnumbered about 4 to 1!
damn! a common babblet!
ty pwinn
ty
TO if I can help--the missing in4 could be like opp of out of with a third instead of a fourth vowel at end
Temple, I don't want to go in** all the details on one... and the other in 4 just has a differnt last vowel.
on to the ns
later pwinn!
Oh, she was just taking a break. I'll stick around.

I'm missing the co6 and feeling silly.
mi 5 milk w/o a consonant + a note on the scale
TO dont you need the k's after all?
stid - i always miss that in 4/4 you just clued - i KNOW what they are, i just SAW about 80 of them at the museum of natural history & spent about an HOUR admiring them, so intricate, each so unique, so artful & i never see that dang word!
got them thanx hetty
the co6 is like Sister Carrie but with a change of vowel
Ah, thanks.
i need one of the 2 e's from upper left - i have the name

the or 5 that doen't contain using a book?
the m's are 2 i's and 3 o's: the tricky one i the mo6 which is french for sheep "Revenons a nos mo*****"
hk: a girl's name
phandmd, tahnks! any clues for the di6? I am jonesing for the fireworks!
thx phan :)
one er/5 is a mistake...

She's done, I'm gone. 36 undone. :-(
I'm stuck on the mi 5
72 to go
ok, i will figure this out! want the fireworks
Too bad, pwinn--better luck tomorrow
milk - l + note of the scale
mi5--mi + *mart + sun god
ricord
ohhh sorry!
Sorry to see you go, pwinn -- but there is always tomorrow!!
Cadfan themi5 sounds lie a stretchy fabic, with a kicking letter instead of what you expect
oherwise it would be the beginning of mi***phone
I was just coming up with something else for the note on the scale clue... Thanks Hetty!
a note on the scale

hullo there nrkii melove. We've missed you today; welcome ba ck
hullo there nrkii melove. We've missed you today; welcome back
kr6??
I guess one message is from my comic mask and one from my tragic one!
the 5/8 before it plus a vowel
thanks hetty!
kr6 is a misspelling (a singer such a Bing does this) witha third vowel stuck on the end
I have 46 to go -- been away all day, and now racing to finish so I can go to bed at reasonable hour
hi nrkii!
hi temple!
hi nrkii
Hi nrkii!!
lol, HI EVERYONE :)
haha - the one letter I didn't try at the end! Again, thanks.
I am disappointed with how I did on this grid this morning -- usually would not have left so many to get tonight
so I have the two K words that you were all nice enough to clue below -- clue for the third please?
nrkii, dont flagellate yourself. this was not an easy grid--too many possible routes through the maze. Take heart
plural of the k word for those greek statues
thank you hetty for kr6
thanks hetty, I feel better -- when I go from tile-less to looking at the tiles, I usually don't have so many ZEROs -- for instance, I haven't gotten a single O word, and there are 7!!!
thanks hetty, I feel better -- when I go from tile-less to looking at the tiles, I usually don't have so many ZEROs -- for instance, I haven't gotten a single O word, and there are 7!!!
the third k word is like the Greek word for "Lord"-- ko followed by lasr vowel + hook letter plus fourth and thirdvowels (or french King)
okay, baby is eating, back to babble land
got the last K, many thanks!
nrkii -- I started this one at lunch this afternoon thinking I would make a lot of headway but didn't -- I will not finish tonight despite my best efforts
hi ya fran -- may I say that I really enjoy your baby updates? (and I'm completely serious)
oo?? (getting desperate... need to go for a run and it's getting late)
hi nrk!
never mind - finally managed to monkey type it
hullo!
back to help if anyone needs and wants it... :-)
nrk, i love you ic4/5, it's the album cover for the best of andrew lloyd weber CD
Help with a couple of O words please? All I have is the vegetable from bottom right
hi nrkii! oc 6/21 is an 8-legged mollusk (first three letters) and french for "king"
or4/5-- a whale
the oo 5/10 is the "scary" babblet...
or4/5, or+what the nike 'just do it' campaign are
or + newpaper notice to sell things (two letters) is the first or 4/5
or5/12, o+leaf through a book
wow, you guys are fast -- tx! (and I tried the whale earlier, darnit!)
or5/12 sounds like the termite guy, but with a C
and that is all my O's in 60 seconds -- you are the best friends a babbler could have!
*proud friend look*
aw shucks!
:-D
okay, my only other zero, is the U
may i say that we all look great with our masks on
we do!
you're blushing, fran !
any high drama here today by the way?
ur and three vowels in order, was the clue given to me
tx marisun!
nrk, what marisun said and to add, they are in order
I think christinapher is hawt.

ra 6/21 - not the animal
I'm missing 2 of the YOs, a r and a 5
no, semen is spelled s-e-m-e-n
cadfan, more suggestive
No. It's seamen.
or more risque as in ra**** language
cadfan, like a car competition (Indy 500) but more so
I'll repeat:
I'm gonna do Christinapher tonite.
Do her good and hard
HEY!
yep.
I hear my mating call.
i have the second person possessive pronoun and its homonym and i have the one that rhymes with **** Randall
entropos, if you do not stop, I will have you kicked off this site. there are children online and you are obnoxious.
You'd better!
I loye you, Christinapher.
entropos, don't be a pig on our time please
OK. I'll be nice.
ping, yo4/11, sounds like first part of ho**ey puck

I love you, too, sweetie <3
Christinapher: will you marry me, despite my coarse ways?
LOL a bit like the resident troll. Thanks nrkii
thanks, fran
ther is a chatroom in yahoo for you all to do that in
the yo5/16 starts with the yo4/6 that rhymes with to** randall, just add a consonant that makes it an adjective
of course I will -
thanks, fran, very much
sure thing ping!
only 14 to go
i just wanted to rhyme that! ;-)
I'm the luckiest man around! Calloo callay, o' frabjous day! I will now draw dark circles around my eyes and caper about like the same beast.
It's how I celebrate.
brb, son wants chocolate milk. that was for you nrk!
thanks fran!
Would that be a beast that has fur like ***ton?

entropos, nice quoting from jabberwocky -- one of my favorites actually
anybody!! Please, ko 6/33
K + Days of *** Lives + a yiddish way of saying UGH (two vowels)
Entropos has gone to take his medicine.
Thank goodness.
I thought I was going to have to get the tranq. gun again.
Now that Greek reference makes sense!!!!!!!! I kept trying to do something with basileus+roi which obviously doesn't work....
Off for a run - might have time to get the last 17 when I get back. If not - have a pleasant evening - I'll see ya tomorrow
night cadfan
seeya cadfan
later CadFan!

congrats pida!
YAY pida!
night pida 1
night everyone. Thanks again nrkii
mo5 and mo6
entropos got jabberwocky quote wrong-- it starts w/ o frabjous day...
mo 5 is a girl's name from Ireland... mo + george gershwin's brother...
mo 6 is french for sheep: mo +last vowel + word for 2000 pounds...
lib, better to misquote from jabberwocky than the alternative, I suppose
thank you
you fast stid, was still working on my clues!!
I agree, nrkii :-)
I doubt he'll be galumphing back to read your correction, lib.
d'oh
LOL, if only they were all so easy to remove!
anything else? should I start spouting clues at random? ;-)
cr 5/12 not sing please?
stid, how bout the ae 5 & 6?
yes ramndom clues are good
ae5 eagle's nest
wassup, with lots of wind, and more so
cr 5/12: cr + metal *** like the rock they get gold and iron from.
there's a cr5/12--cr + what miners look for
gmta, stid!
ah ha!!!!!!! thanks
oooooh, and I was just too chicken all this time to try that combo
that last cr is an anagram for the co 5/12
co 6/21: co + double consonant + abbreviation for "that is" in latin
liba: gmta?
great minds think alike stid!
great minds think alike :-D
di 6/27: compound word -- di* "not bright" + opposite of in

wow...jinx!
pinch, poke, you owe me a coke libarebel!
wassup, who are the strange men in your icon?
thats fair & you owe me one, stid! :-)
da 4/9 the second: da +abbreviation for "weight"
they're from the big lebowski, one of the best movies ever... the man moving is a character called "the Jesus". They're bowling.
I owe you a bunch liba! what am I paying in?

I think I'm missing a WA 4/9
i have the crazy ones
wa 4/9 are either Mr. Cleaver's first name or a gully in Africa
wa4/9 is wa+abbreviation for 'road'
1st ac 5/12 and the 6/30?
wa 4/9. as in hospital wa**?

the wa 4/12 is like a qu*** particle of matter ending like noah's vessel...
from a little ac*** grows the mighty oak, wassup!
oh duh!
it's the other wa 4/9
oh, stid Wa** Cleaver! lol
the 6/30 is "smartness" ac + last vowel + pronoun + sometimes vowel
is there another one?
thanks stid
there are only two wa 4/9; there is the "crazy" wa 4/13, and the 4/12 I just clued...
there's a wa that ends with a vowel... :)
elalyr, the wa 5 that ends in a vowel?
left for a second there, went to view wassup's profile and my computer went nuts!
yep, a wa 4/9, it means a dry streambed
no 8/55?
thanks, elalyr
ooh, start with a small clue on the no 8 please
I'm trying to work that one out

*pours cocoa for nrk and adds dollop of freshly whipped cream*
aha! nrkii -- you get a fish for that!
*pours hot water over tea bag for stid*
*indulges in complete chocolate high*
thanks Fran, mmm. nice warm cup. my fingers are feeling so toasty again!
but it DOES have a double consonant! the one in today's grid is the variant -- my fish is forgetting the crazy rules of babble, where odd variants work too.... *accepts fish*
here i was thinking it was spelled correctly!! d'oh
hang on, baby's done eating, she's flinging her leftovers!!
and did you get the ra 5 with single cons and vowel?
yes ma'am
I'm on RO's now...
LOL fran!
"The Fran Files"
I don't know if ROs are going to be strong enough nrkii! you might want to hit the TAs...
hey, i see a Beethoven symphony! nickname for the 3rd - not a Babble word, but it's there. anyone who guesses gets a cyber nickel from me.
eroica
Ping?
5¢ to Ping!
i'm losing my mind. for some reason that 8 isn't coming together. i think i've tried every stupid combo out there

the no 8/55. stid just clued for it and i'm going NUTS
wassup: hand-hold here: no + second two letters of the tenth month o**ober; + "cup" vowel + last bit of the bottom ailment that preparation H is for....
wassup -- sounds like what you do on the door to get someone to answer, plus the second number, plus robot like creature andr***
no 8: ends like a science fiction character, and andr***.
Could I have some help with AC 6? I have the others.
no 8 has 3 vowels in a row - even monkeys won't type that!
try this wassup, n+first 3 letters of 10th month + letter that sounds like opp of me + last 3 letters of artificial human
here's only on 8, and it's an no. sounds like German for night with an android ending. Wantr more?
can I please have a clue for the first re5,12 and the re7,32?
oh my GAWD stid. thanks. i was trying that r after the "cup" vowel. i was going in circles.
ac 6: "smartness" ac + vowel + prounoun for neither he nor she + letter before z
ac 6 is a word that means sharpness, mental or visual ac****

aha. again, not a word
yes, i've fooled you all, i'm a stay at home dad!! ;-)
Ispent a lot of time today wth one o0f my hospice patients, so it was the best of times and the worst of times. I find this time with babblers is highly recuperative; am beginning to wonder what I did without it.
lots of those today ashley
elalyr, see my clue below
;-) Fran, few dad's would take dinner slinging with as much calm as you just did....
mo6 - rhymes with little crunchy things on salad, only singular
sorry, wrong one
so i've noticed!! I stayed home "sick" from class today and played. and by "sick" i mean i have a cold. and by have a cold i mean "ahecckk!!"
you're right stid, i could never have fooled the other moms
hetty, that's so nice that you do that work.
I also baked a cake as well as cooking dinner. Our choir is having its annual potluck tomorow. I'll be singing "You raise me up"

to6/18 is more to4/6
thanks fran
the other to6/18 is what they call the bull fighter, to+do again prefix+**w, **w, **w your boat
