someone recently sent me an article about 'kopi luwak' coffee which is basically coffee beans that this weasel thing eats, poops out and then people harvest and make coffee out of it....
lol or one you don't want to see for a while
helen - i might conider them if they come siler plated... ;-)
hk, i think who we've established who the poopers are around here, and it's *not* the people
i've heard of that kierlex.
kier - i've actually heard of that - i'm glad i don't drink coffee
well, this can't compete with Koala poo, but I like it.
that is nasty business. i can't stand coffee anyway. I'm a coca cola chiquita tho

nite, mymuse, ty for laffs!
oh got me started now. Another word today and is an adbreviation
Alaska sells a whole line of moose dropping jewelry. I saw a show on processing the droppings to make them sanitary.
in d-nile?
i hear that moose are really big and can be dangerous
Moose are huge and believe me, you wait until they leave before you go hunting for the droppings!
meese are big
lol I was just thinking that lib
moosen, meese, mooses
lol, natlt!
sorry lib in de nile is a word my friends used about people that dont want to believe as in they are in the nile, head under water going la la la
they occasionally cross a highway around here-- suv's no contest
oh, ty, her
oh, duh!
eww if moose are big that means poo is big and thats gross. I have been told that moose are your equal of our kangaroos, dangerous and messy and possibly leathal to you if you hit them
heri - "Denial is not just a river in Egypt"
True and giggle Jmann
hihihi
lol, jman-- tell 'em
Ok I am tired of fighting my mouse, mice, mousen, mouses, meece, I am heading out, and going to let my computer sleep and try to fix itself
well, hi, sprite!
That was a dutch giggle :)
my friends sometimes tell me that im stupid so my response to that is well i must be to be hanging around u and they shut up. Ok nat u running away now
good nite NatLT
well it's almost 2 am here, so I think it is time, night everyone, hopefully will see you later on
ok this is just silly, sorry for being a spoil sport but since when was twat a word. I use it all the time but i didn't think id see it in a puzzle
you use the tw** word all the time-- you should seek help
i know - i was surprised too, as i've only heard it as a derogatory term - oh well, i'll look up what it actually means
I wish you wouldn't post words in the log.
I'll have to google it...
No its a relatively polite. Toss and twat are low end calling someone a c... is high end and they do mean the same thing. Sorry sprite. Libare.. dictionary.com
yes, indeed, sprite!
Sorry sprite
Very bad me
oh sorry libarebel (if you meant me)
um--posting words is not cool!!!
I said sorry
not you, jmann!
i think i have a mouse eating the dog food again
If you had a cat instead, you would have a nice food chain.
a pregnant pause...
lol, sprite! :D
Dog kills rats. We did have a food chain in my old house. We had 2 rats, a cat, a snake and a rabbit. The rats went nuts, the rabbit moved interstate and the snake is now 7ft long
So the rabbit was a coward, but the snake a hero :)
Yep. Rabbit went to a nice family interstate when the house broke up
Errr.... and what happened to the cat? (almost afraid to ask)
cat went with another nice family up to the bush as the owner couldn't have cats in his appartment. The rats passed on before we left due to old age
Glad it didn't end up in the snake, lol.
ewww...
I never displaced any of my pets...
hi everyone!
ever
good morning JGalloway
afternoon here!!!
eww. No that was the fun thing with the snake we used to get baby mice from the research lab once a year, they were dead, and freeze them in a container and call it mice cream. It was damn funny having a drunk person open the freeze and go ohh ice cream and we had to say step away from teh container
hi there. Well, libarebel, the pet wouldn't have been misplaced either... not if you asked the snake.
hi JG
pets are not property!
The snake was very tiny at the time
JG - where are you?
Unfortunatly when you live in a share house with 3 people and one of the people is a vet nurse we rescued the rabbit and the rats.
Yuck!
my cat owns me fair and square!
lol sprite-- gotta lighten up!
lol sprite-- gotta lighten up!
lol sprite-- gotta lighten up!
Cats are never property. Cats rule the world. And the universe. And the rest.
Cats have slaves dogs have masters
well, I won't say it again!
Come again, libarebel? LOL
Cat moved into the country with lots of room to lounge in teh sun
i would like to know why is the most obvious words the hardest to see?
Ithink you are sick, herin :(
Dunno, but they usually are.
lol, sprite!
What do you mean libarebel
herin, you must have babble fever! can't see the obvious ones... get a good dose of fish up the side of your head and everything becomes much clearer
I think i need to go back to the playstation for a while and find that noise thats in the kitchen
You can borrow my fish for the purpose, if you like. It's a bit worn around the edges though.
head flop to kieyboard

mr. president, :-)
hello everyone!
hi MrP!
Morning all! Another small grid, I see - what's it like?
No Mrpres i have 36 words so the easy ones are starting to cloud the harder ones
my halibut is always at hand (for me) :-)
good morning everyone :)
hi, kallia!
matty - not too bad today I think - the first third i found pretty quickly
morning kallia
It's pretty much medium. A little over halfway the brakes hit!
I think my brain my be imploding soon
Hi All I've got 58 but slowed right down now.
Morning FMitch..I have 62 and stopped lol
I prefer a nice piece of barracuda... fangs intact!

True FMitch! Nothing can spoil my day :D

scot word... worse than the welsh ones!
Yeah! Thanks Kallia and Fmitch, I got the missing ones.
well I should have klnown that one lol
got a couple wh's -- the questions reporters are supposed to ask...
2 of the WH 4/9's are questions - the other is what you yell on a roller coaster ride
ty, jmann! wh**!
Jm shouring a cuss word is all i can think off
brb bitching about my friends ex
Wh4/9 the going gets tough, the tough ask for clues. Any hints on the biggies for today?
the dark regions of the mind?
the tough give clues!, ty, sprite!
i have the 3 7's - do you have those?
i don't have the 8 though, so if anyone does, I'd like a clue on that
I am having a very dumb day, I have none of the 7s nor the 8.
got th 5/12... the rose prick
the Ha8 ends with the spikes on a rose
hi everyone! :)
ah, good moring Cat
ty, cat9x!!!
good morning JM :)
and thanks for the clue - got it
you're welcome lib! :)
you're welcome JM :)
Hi Cat thanks for the clue
HI FM, you're welcome :)
Beautiful Cat :)
thanks sprite!
sprite - EN 7/28 = ends with "This country is a great N*****"
I saw it and thought it was so unusual I had to use it :)
hey-- got tw5/8-- betwixt and betw***
Good morning all. Another short grid today.
Hi Haz! Thanks JMann, that gave me 2 for the price of one :)
there is a to7 that sounds like a type of pasta
good morning Haz :)
TE 7/28 = ends with "someone from Mars is called a MA*****"
Morning Haz, you made it!!
Yes - I was so frustrated yesterday, but all seems to be well this morning.
Marshmellow?
Goodmorning Haz
yw sprite - and just to show you how dumb i am today, I only had the 7 letter word, not the smaller one!
i got no 7 letter words here
Did you mange to get yesterday done in the end?
That sounds familiar, JMann, happens to me all the time :) I actually check my wordlist for missed words like that when I hit the famous wall.
Yes, I did. It was quite an interesting grid once I got stuck in.
ty, jmann for te7/28 :)
Don't know how I could have missed that Te7, it was in yesterday's grid too, right?
and the TO 7/28, just like Cat said, sounds like a type of pasta, but actually it's an Italian desert
sorry dessert
yes Sprite it was
Not sure about yesterdays grid sprite, but it has been recent :)
libarebal - yw
nope still not got that one, ow well. And whats with the anti mythical gods and goddess
Can't imagine a pasta for dessert.
But I have the To :)
thats what it is too, not imagining it
To7 ends in a man's name, more or less.
I wish herinfernallady would go away :(
thats very rude
What is she doing wrong then?
hi all :) *lovely* pic, CAt!
Hi Ata :)
but, I'll sign off, 'nite, all :)
Hi Ata!!!! Thank you :)
Good morning Atalante.
bye liba - thanks again for the clues - have a good nite
*scrolls back a bit to see why liba runs off* Nope, don't see it?
cat - i do like your icon today
nite libarebel
Bye lib :)
So, how's the grid today?
Thank you JM :)
It's fun, matty. Not too easy, not too hard.
It's a great grid Matty!
not too bad matty - you should zip through a good part of it before hitting the wall
I have hit the wall with 20 left, but most are 4 letter words, as usual. I always miss the small ones.
what the hades have i done wrong
The good part of that is that monkeytyping will work, Cat :) I know, I usually have the same thing at the end. Herin, I don't know.
morning all. clue for eo6 please/thanks
Shame I'm at work! Good news is I have the eight!
FIve minute break - be back shortly.
You're right sprite, I just monkeyed a couple that took me down to 18! :)
congrats matty!
oggy: relating to a very long time.
morning oggy - the EO 6/18 - think of a very long time (3 letters), then add a man's name to the end (3 letters - with two vowels, like the writer of James Bond books)
trying to multi task
thanks sprite, im done now.
wtg oggy!
congrats oggy!!!
thanks jmann
good job oggy
Woohoo oggy!
At least 2 greek letters in the grid.
do they both end in the same three letters?
just a guess

Nope, they don't. Same 2, though.

You'd need them both to spell my name, JMann.
woohoo sprite

The very first letter, I mean, not the greek letter in total.
yeah oggy, it's fun today
great job mrp
wtg mr p
Yeah mrP!

Wow I step away from the log for 2 mins and sprite & MrP are done. Congrats!

Have fun, oggy!
i will
FIgures, FMitch. When you step away from the game, you can't finish, so we have to do it for you ;)
bye oggy
LOL I wish you would, I've hit the wall and can't see the wood for the trees
hello everyone!!!
i havnt been on for ages!!
hi, louie
then welcome back louie
Fmitch: do you have the warm wind? And the nasty insect? And did you lose the thing that covered your head? ;)
Thats it for me. I need food and i have to turn on the heating.
hi cat!!!!how are you and your pets??
Did you go cold turkey, louie?
Hi everyone. Havn't been too chatty lately (between work & football just about enough time to babble!!). Could use some help with the bigger words?!
Bye herin!
parden
I'm find louie, as are my pets :)
*fine
cool. same!
Ishult - the HA 8 - ends with the pointy parts of a rose bush
good :)
Thanks sprite, I didn't have the insect.
ta sprite. I have the house to my self so i shall be back later. Gotta find a mobile
Hi FMitch, how are you going with todays puzzle?
the EN 7/28 = ends with "this country is a great N*****"
Yeh, got it straight away, thanks JMann
I am off, have fun hunting all and thanks for the fun and the help :D
See ya Sprite!
bye sprite - thanks again
bye Sprite
Hi louie, got 35 left to find Hey Ishult nice to see you! Bye sprite
enation
Morning all!
Ishult - that EN 7/28 will also give you an N 6/18
bye sprite!
morning(night for us)
this i2:52 am herinfernallady ta sprite. I have the house to my self so i shall be back later. Gotta find a mobile scary...
hi amanda :)
Sorry every one, still not use to the new layout, pressed enter didn't see that |I typed the word in the wrong place
the TE 7/28 = ends with "someone from Mars is called a MA*****"
Hi amanda!!
Ishult, it happens all the time, to all of us. The layout should be changed.
and the TO 7/28 = sounds like a pasta (but it's not, it's a dessert) = ends with a 4 letter man's name (think **** Bennett) but with a different last vowel
sprite - I think everyone should email Dr_G and bombard him with requests for the change
morning people :)
I agree, FMitch! libarebel: I don't see the problem with that?
we've tried that once FMitch! but yeah ... it really needs changing
ooo no, not the layout! I like it this way, not having to scroll down for the log. The return-to-enter thing is annoying - that we could change..
All that would have to change would be that the cursor jumps back to the Add Word box after posting a message in the log.
... thats what we are talking about amanda. :)
my poimherinfernallady ta sprite. I have the house to my self so i shall be back later. Gotta find a mobileithis is seriously scat2:52 am herinfernallady2:52 am herinfernalladymy point was that I think
The last time we tried an e-mail campaign, Dr-God said that he couldn't figure out any way to fix it that wouldn't open up more problems.
any clues on the top row A? I have at5/10, need one more please?
Morning Mari - good to be back?
Libarebel, I don't know what your problem is, but right now I think you are being a bit irritating with copying a message so often.
my point was that I think that herinfernallady is imminently dangerous!
and I don't know what's been wrong w/ my postings...
Its not my mobile its my point is that if i don't find it my boy could be driving for about 1hr instead of coming home.
Doesn't strike me as dangerous. Cat: At6/30 in or through the position or interval separating

so sorry...
Hi Katie sure is - just had the longest shower in history!!
Cat - did you get that? There were suddenly a lot of postings, and was buried in them
oh yeah?
Log was laggy again, I think.

Thats funny JM, I had the TW part, never thought to add the vowel in the front, now makes sense :)
Plus when a fone rings half a dozen times u can't concentrate and u panic thinking its an emergancy. I still am lost as to why some words arent allowed

This grid feels like a revision class in babble words.
sprite mentioned a bug in the puzzle earlier, any clues as to what that was?
oh never mind, had it :)
yeah, it's green (well, on radio it was)
ahhh yes, and wasn't his sidekick Bruce Lee? Do I have the right show?
i think it was cato, or do i have the wrong show
Yep, that was it, Bruce Lee was Cato, or Kato :)
hum, didn't know that
let me google it, now I have a "need to know ":)
yep, Cato on Green Hornet
Inspired by the success of the Batman series, ABC brought The Green Hornet to television in 1966-67, an adaptation which introduced martial arts master Bruce Lee to American audiences and starred Van Williams as the Green Hornet.
hello everyone..how many words today..?
that was from wikipedia, not off the top of my head
did the show do well? I only remember batman
Wow, I didn't realize it only had one season. Seemed longer, was a very popular show, or so I thought.

Good morning ylleria. I'm fine, but the weather isn't great here.

I know - you'd think it would announce itself more clearly.
thanks Haz I missed that one too :)
Haz you prob will some some when on hols
*see some
wow Haz where are you off?
I think it is one of the 'Big Five' they keep talking about.
Hi all. It is. I am originally from South Africa, now living in the UK.
Well, Kallia, believe it or not, I'm going to Kenya in August. It's my husband's 50th birthday in September, and he has always talked about safari.
lucky you!
I know I will enjoy it when I get there, but just now I am looking at prescriptions for injections and anti-malarial drugs.....
guess thats the payoff
Hi JA
hi JA
And hello JA - you'll be a good source of information, then?
Don't know much about Kenya!
Right, back to the search, 16 left and the clock is ticking!!
At least we don't have the countdown clock to contend with!
LOL, I actually got a one of the conundrums last week - never usually do.
Sometimes they just leap out at you, don't they? I'm useless at the maths bit, unless it's really obvious.
Anyway - I'll distract you no further. I'm going to tackle some housework. happy hunting!
Bye, Haz.
See you later Haz

Just found an ha8. I really should have found that before, it's in my hedge!
My man hit himself in the eye with his earphones and I've snubbed my toe on various bits of furniture more than any person should
rofl kitty go back to bed an start again lol

lol
anyone got a clue for the ha 8?

Kitty - Just mind how hard you stub those toes of yours; I once broke a toe on a sofa.:(
for ha opposite of love is ha**
Thanks, Kitty. I didn't have that tw.:)
it's a a plant Ylleria, with pretty flowers and red berries
ah - thanks kittyvane :)
ylleria - the ha8 is also known by the name of a Spring month.
I once broke my toe on a door frame, just a couple of days before my graduation and a day's worth of wearing high heels
The ha8 also builds on the th5/12
Kitty - OUCH!
In the end I taped my broken toe to the one next to it and put on some of this numbing cream my mum got from work, and I did manage to make it through the day in heels
With a fixed smile, no doubt. Must've hurt like hell.
It wasn't so bad once the champage started flowing :)

Tired, but well. Standard monday. And yourself?

Very tired, caffeine hasn't kicked in yet... but grid is coming along nicely so all is well...
Hi, Preethi!
hi jera hi preethie :)
Hi Jera. Hows the grid today? How many words?
99
Only 99 words, but that can mean things will get tricky about halfway...
Hi, mickie12... love all the new people!
hmm.. im at 23 now and im having a tough time finding more
The longer you play, the better you get, especially by learning odd little words you don't see/use anywhere but here, LOL
i'm down to 12 left . . . going to have to start going for hints soon
jera, words like te/4
true. I have been playing for the last 3 months and have learnt more words than i did in all my schooling days
lol 2 true preethi
You mena the bird? It gets much weirder than that around here! Or are there more te4's I haven't found yet?
Good morning everyone!
yes the bird
morning mm
good morning, fellow babblers!!
Greetings, musicmom!
How are you feeling today Jera?
at6/30?
Morning Annie?
I should really change this icon. Anyone know today's theme?
or it5/12?
morning, musicmom!
That's a very cool one, musicmom... is it Indian? Or do I just have that on my mind?
Feeling much better musicmom...
i'm not sure what it is exactly. It was for "how I feel when I finish the grid" day
I'm glad to hear that Jera
Oooh, good one!
that shows you how far behind in themes I am
Hi everyone, just popped in for a quick babble as we are going to the pub for lunch. Small grid but looks quite tricky
Morning Katie - I haven't hit a wall yet but just started
It's so hot I can't think of anything to present myself as except my naked ivy fairy. Maybe a penguin...
LOL Jera
Greetings, katieW!
morning katie,
Woke up this morning to pouring down rain. So thankful that it wasn't like that last Monday morning
Rain sounds heavenly... is it coming my way, do you know?
I'm not sure but I have the Today show on. They should do the weather soon. We definitely need it here. It has been sooo dry
thunderstorms are expected late today in new york, cant wait!
any clues for the a05/10 guys
We JUST got out of the drought situation... I don't wanna go back in... my Girls are champing at the bit to make campfires!
According to the weather map, Jera, it looks like it may be headed slightly your way
ao5= heart vein
babbledude its one of the major arterys of the heart
morning all
thanks Sandr and morning
and Jera : )
ooo thanks, 5 left :)
As long as it actually rains, none of this gathering humidity then nothing... I hate that!
I live to serve, Babbledude! Welcome, btw!
morning, sandr!
That's what we had all weekend Jera
Yesterday was so hazy driving Sarah out to camp
Ick, doesn't look like we'll actually be getting any... at most a 30% chance on Friday... of well.
rhino
i 5 or at 6. any clue?
oh my - so sorry
Want me to blow hard in your direction?
No problem, sandr... I didna have that one!
at6 - synonym of between
preethi-i5/12-variant of e____ or
Yes, please, musicmaom... and stand on one foot waving your arms wildly...
Sandr, don't apologise that is a really good spot, I would never have got it!!
Those were two different words, one beginning with an e and the other with an o
Preethi there are 2 i5s. One is an abbreviation of a starting chapter or something like that
Morning all Could have done with that earlier sandr, spent ages looking for that :)
Okay I'll do that <G>. You didn't happen to learn a rain dance at the pow wow did you?
I could be useful
lol - its so easy to forget to move the cursor back - you know what i mean!
very jealous of the heat and thunderstorm talk. I live in England and we're just cloudy and cool today--like most days.
e7 or e5 any clues?
ho6/21?
No, or they would have done it... it was truly miserable... I felt so sorry for those people out there in full costume...
I'd love a clue for the en7 myself...
we're supposed to get thunderstorms with hail this afternoon-I love storms, but they usually do false advertising and then I get let down.
ho6/21 - large stinging insect
Carrie that sounds like a slice of heaven to me today...
i'm trying to think of a hint for it for ya jera/snozrap
That's how I felt last year when we went to the Renaissance Festival. I couldn't imagine wearing all that costuming
oh, ty FMitch
i just got e7, its a random word in my opinion
en7... en + one ***, under god...
anyone help with the U??
hello
Jera, before I moved to England I didn't think I'd miss the heat and humidity in the States, but when it's overcast and cool and you never get a tan, it gets old.
Thanks, I didn;t have the na6 yet either!
mickie- a stupid one- if you remove your headwear
I needed that n6 as well. Thanks!
Greetings, Shadowwolf... coolname!
last one . . . to7/28?
I'm gonna forget the list & just scoop up clues, LOL
Think pasta, Papa
Ta. I was herinfernallady but i usually go by shadow wolf
LOL Jera
Oh and by the way. Naughty word alert in puzzle today
Good morning Shadowwolf --- so you have caught the addiction as well.
I can imagine, Carrie, but it sounds good to me today (cool & overcast)
ShadowWolf is cooler... my last name is Shadowdancer
lol ShadowWolf
Jera how hot is it over there and where are you? I used to live in Wisconsin and we had tough winters and summers. Here there really isn't a difference, but it rains more in the spring and winter.
Jera thats pretty
Jera, is it an actual pasta or a derivation?
the to7 has to do with pasta?
ooo ooo . . . got it . . . ty Jera . . . Fireworks!!
I'm near Washington, DC... high 80's all week... not sure how that converts to celcius...
Huzzah for PapaGLP!!
it's actually an italian dessert :)

I must be in the upper 20s or lower 30s in Celcius
BRAVO Papa!
28c = 82f
yay, papa!
i am still friggen stuck on that one
Oh, duh, the C conversion is right under the F in my weather page... between 30 & 30 & possible thunderstorms that likely won't happen. Ugh.
which one shadowwolf?
Carrie, it sounds pasta-like to me...
itallian pasta desert thing

It was a terrific clue. We just did tree identification last week.
ta papa. Youd think that being an x cook i would have had it by now
We are doing trees as well... a recent meeting, as soon as they arrived, I gave them a chart & told them to go find as many different leaves as they could... it was fun!
can i please have a starting letter then ill go ferret in my cook books
Wasn't ha8 the guy who wrote The Scarlet Letter?
Jera - we had someone from the dept. of forestry come out and explain tree rings, tree ident. etc to the Juniors
The brownies did leaf rubbings and made their own tree ident book
yes, Jera
yes Jera
to
yes you are right jera
that was for shadowwolf
I remember doing that as a Brownie... we covered the leaves in contact paer & made a game...
to for me?
those are the first two letters of the 7 letter word you are looking for
ok i slap myself one in the head. I got it. derr i am being slow today
What starting letter are you looking for ShadowWolf?
Never mind, LOL
LOL Shadow, you gotta keep up girl!! you asked for the starting letters for the food word and it is "to"
the dessert thing. I should bloody know my ex is italian
An Italian recipe frozen custard with toasted coconut and almond flavor, & a touch of bisque, topped with a cookie or coconut almond dust.
to7 - to & r + nobel prize novelist morrison ?

the dog flattened the litter box? That must have been a gigantic turd.

I agree, I have a 10 year old & an almost 5 year old. I don't mind driving to the good stuff, though. I also do a lot with my Girl Scout troop.
phantom word of the day - vodka LOL and there isnt even a V in the grid
Jera, did you see the article in the papers this weekend about the Girl Scout troop in the prison with the fathers? The girls have their meetings with their fathers, and it's apparently very successful in reducing recidivism and helping the daughters/fathers bond.
okay I give up ... I'm clearly a bobblehead today instead of a babblehead. Another clue for the te7 please that doesn't involve creatures from Mars? THanks
do 5/12, plz.
helloooo?

That's wonderful, ch1212... missed that particular one. I'd heard of such a program with moms in prison as well.
I missed you terribly, melonhead!!
hi melonheadjujube. Jera, apparently the program with the dads is the only one of it's kind.
at6?
ch1212, maybe you can google the official definition of th te7...
Recurring every other day or, when considered inclusively, every third day
ch1212 its ter then the ending to what they call people on mars

Hi disney nice to meet does anyone have a clue for the 8 word?

ch the scarlet letter... have to go again tea time brb
do5/14?
Stephie, do 5/14 is old english ... or take you do 4/5 above it, remove the last letter and add two cononants

oooooooh! horny animals! TY!
Is Oggy back from the honeymoon? I keep hoping he'll post pics from his wedding (he got married the same day my daughter did, June 10)

thanks ch....been too lazy to change from the other day
tndaisy, I used that same icon in our church bulletin awhile back -- that's why I recognized it :)

oooh a word from MacBeth!
what's that melonhead? Damn? Spot? :D
I'm glad this is a fairly easy grid...I just looked at that one yesterday and said forget THIS! Either I was temporiarily illiterate or that thing wasn't in English!
I'm off now -- happy babbling everyone!
I'm off too. See everyone tomorrow....
fianlly found the eo 6 - helps to be starting with the right correct e.....
the first fo5/18?
99 words? easy or hard words?
never mind!
harpjane - twas easy for a while but have 8 left and am really hitting the wall!
well if there's only eight hard ones....
mind you, I usually have to struggle to find stupid four letter words.....:)
I always struggle to find Os!
My bogey letter is definately g. Hate them with a passion.
Os and Fs
but today it seems to be f's and t's! Anyone got the first fo5/18?
if there are 2, I've got it
oh actually no I havent
rry
SORRY!
dachef, it's "warm dry wind that blows in the Alps"
got it - ty!
aix - does it start like an enemy?
'nutha question - is ha8 a compound word?
melon, yes!
oooooh got the ha 8! it grows!
Nathaniel Ha*******
the fo does start like an enemy. the ha8 is a type of tree orshrub that ends in something prickly you find on a rose.
just found another wrod from MacBeth
i'm still stuck on the 1st fo5/18.
the grid . . . 'tis rife with them
'til burnham wood do come to dunsenay
start with enemy, then add the two letters just above the third letter.
my monkey found the fo5/18
tx bash - what timing.
LOL!
...&a word from "Midsummer Nights Dream" also R&J.

good morning, babblers
to7?
boker tov, ping.
where I live, nerf is a word
which t to start with???? ahem, with which to start?
t in the first column
where i live, it's a way of life! (actually, it was a good form of cubicle-to-cubicle communication!)
tx, atalante
boker tov to you, melonhead
ma nishma?
we're having a deluge - texas gulf coast - no school or work
wow - i was in NYC all weekend - came home on the train - just enough rain to have kept the garden from withering.
Could I get some hints for the E words? Any or all of them?
to7 - does it start with a rocky type of mountain?
e7 - e plus a "stately" word
to7 - yes it does, and continues on to sound italian
houston floods pretty readily
aha - the one vowel i forgot! tha's a "just desserts" - ahem.
en7- e + another word for a country, eo6 - a long period of time + two vowels + consonant
LOL :)
nice cluing, atalante
cluing looks like it should rhyme with ping, Ping! sort of a cymbal sound effect.
just found my first macbeth word!
hello, Babblers. has everyone seen the new Babble Calendars on the resource page?
not yet, angel, thanks for the heads up
ta-dah, Ping!
at6?
i'm just starting, angel - sorry
well, for once i surpassed mediocrity - i'm stopping @ 68. no jet lag, just "train lag' - pulled in near dawn.
I haven't heard how the Babble party in the UK went. Did anyone attend?\
en5?
Hi all! another small grid! Angelsong - love the calendars! I have left a note on BA -CATHBs birthday is July 17th not 27th - thankyou for a great page!
morning angel--at6 is a variant of a word usually beginning "be'--think "betwixt and between"
harpjane, abbler was on the log last Saturday to say she had met with artlady--a[pparently a covention of two. There's a picture on Saturday's archive page
Harpjane -I think only Babbler & Artlady were there.
morning, snowy & hetty
en5/10 - no def, en + Spanish for aunt
thanks vic, I miss that one every time!
Bobsta was here on Friday night - he & Bubbles were going but thought it was next week.
aw4/8?
aw4/8 - the fifth little piggy is "aw--" little one!
I've corrected the birhtdays calendar, thanks for the info, snowyowl
thanks vicuna!
Ty Angelsong!
Morning ping Angel, just checked our calendar, ta, and wanted to ut on mybirthday but can't see how to do it. It's July 18 (the birthday, that is) and a day Stid will be in Victoria with me and maybe Jill too--so we can do better at a convention than babble !
Hetty you must let us know how it goes.
That greeting was for you, ping--tho i knoe you're an angel anyway

O'K' snow--still in the planning stage

thanks, showyowl - I am judy if you read between the numbers.
This shouldn't be all that hard. I just got back from Washington, DC and bought loads of souvenirs!!!
swmbo, there is already a link to the resdource page on BA.
Oh yes ! Reading between the lines is usually my strong point! LOL
I have been fine, thanks temple Owl, just busy with a new job
hi judy
Angel Song, i saw that. I just didn't look around as well as I should have
I've been googling for icons this morning. Am lazy about scanning photos into my computer. Wished I had for fathers day tho.
snowy: i came upon one on my dad's church website of the two of us atttending a play ! neither had any idea and it's the only one of us together! imagine that!
Angel - I found a wonderful site for you - the glosaries section is *perfect* for babble - http://phrontistery.info/index.html
What fun TO! I hope I only come upon 'good photos if Iever find one of me! LOL My dad died nearly nione years ago & I have a great photo of us that I carry in my wallet -I must scan it in.
My typing is definately NOT improving - & I get so much practise now i babble!lol
i have no digital camera and no scanner, so it was very lucky! can you see us?
is your dad the one in the white shirt, temple?
The phot is fine size wise but I don't know which one he is! My printer is a scanner too so I use that. It was very reasonably priced & is really useful. My digitsl camera lives in the kitchen full of undownloaded snaps!
be back later, have to return books to the library.
yes, ping. and i am in the striped sweater. he is 81 in that picture
later Annie
Thaks, Atalante! I

do5/14 is an archaic rendition of 'do'
go tuco!!!!
do - third person singular present tense of do.
I enjoyed finding the words as well, hetty.
i found it sad because of a lfe burned out too soon. but i was struck that amid the extraordinary it was also very ordinary...does that make any sense?
to 7 please?
yes, temple, it does
hmmm
what's left, tuco?
to7/28 is an Italian dessert, achieved here by adding an anagram of electrically charged particle to the preceding to4/4.
does anyone else want nerf to be a word?
the do5/14
Add an anagram of the definite article for do5/14
do 5/14 - do = the stuff they used to use to put you to sleep before surger - first 3 letters ***er

That was very generous and thoughtful of you, Lupe. I'm sure she appreciated it!
I did my sister a favor the other night and ate five oatmeal raisin cookies and only saved her one.
hmmm. oatmeal raisin.. my favorite.
I've got to go pick up my child. Will be back later!

Now the powers that be are trying to find some comps in the area

grats misshoax
feather, you and stid got back on the same minute!
wtg misshoax
mannn, i hate vowel words, and that's all the top row is!!
Thanks Fran
doing okay, pacing myself in the garden, but still getting a few things accomplished. wish I had more stamina, but it will build as I keep working through the summer.
yw matty!
WE are unani(m)ous on that
stid i hate gardening.
cool! i bet she's farther than i am though...just starting out here! 96 to go..... :P
don't forget your sunscreen hetty and stid!!
Thanks everyone for the lickety link.
Stid, beloved cyberwife, take it easy
This is the closest I've come to finishing! Be back later. All the best, everyone!
I am taking it easy! that's what's so frustrating. grumble grumble. I love gardening, but don't have the energy to be out there all day long yet!
later ckapoo..good luck!

YAY Ornith!

I can't find the second ta4, boohoo
thanks featherbee and stidmama
hetty, thought you were talking about gardening like stid was
hetty, 2nd ta4 is the metal coating on the back of a mirror
in 4/7 plz..
disney in4/7=411
disney, i don't have that in**rmation
done.
I have one th5/12 left (well, plus another 9 words...but that's what I'm working on at the mo)
yay stid!!!
yay stid!!!!
My arthritis will not permit of gardening, beyond a little gentle watering. Can't bend, you see
grats stidmama
thanks Ornith..should have seen that one!
Hetty, do you have the ta that sounds like the "glue" in asphalt?
I have two th5/12 left to get, actually - the one after now and th**, and the one after the body part.
wtg stid
the greek TH matty?
Oooh - yes, that's the one I need - thanks!
matty, the second one is usually plural: the th5/12s of passion
the th 5/12 after the body part is a sort of contortion one does in pain -- usu seen in the plural form, this is sing.
TH's covered now - thanks guys!
:-)
stid, i'm combining your and ornith's defs and coming up with some strange pictures!!! :-)
that's pretty much accurate for that word, actually, Fran :P
no I don't have that ta, stid-- f it's an anagram 0f "rat" I can't see t on the grid
well Fran, in my experience, passion can be quite painful! LOL
lol, i actually tried "newd"
hetty, take that word and add an H in the middle
featherbee! that is silly -- (so did I)
hee hee!
you are both silly! -- (i did too)
actually, I tried "newf" too -- my parents had a part-lab part-newfoundland dog once...
ok, gotta run to the store, back later....glad i wasn't the only one!
later feather! :-)
later feather!
I did that, thanks Fran--what a dumb word
brb, baby is up
yes hetty! Dumb words "R" us!
I keep making up words that end in -ine and -one, after seeing all the random chemical words I don't know
or as peri says, stupidhead word
But it WAS in enable and I should have found it, so maybe it's not the word that's stupid
okay, I need to go be productive again. enjoy yourselves :-) *leaving a wake of cookies, candy and MJCLs and lemonade*
i did that too ornith! also -ion words
if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the atine?
bye stid!!
hey, i tried "dorf", does that count?
bye stid
pretty sure I tried that too firefly
lol ornith
bye stid and goodnight all, be back 2morrow
firefly, it's a word for tim conway fans!
night oggy!
that's exactly it Fran!
Night and God bless, oggy
I've at least gotten a little better about stupidhead words now that I've gotten the hang of counting points instead of JUST monkeytyping, but...
F I N I S H E D>>>>>~~~~~~~~> Hooray!
One word left - do5/14...
yay jai!!!
any hints for en7/28
TY< Fran!
grats jai
matty, stick and E into your do4/6

Thanks for all your help, all. Night night (beddie bo-boes time!
TY to all!
ty jai and fran
I'm getting browned off with all those th's. no fewer than five to go of the th4's and one th5
Yw, S.A.
Having gritted my teeth and pesrevered, I've found 2 of the missing th's
en 5/10?
I am mistress of the th's--except for one th4 and one th5
stats on the two u words?
Kalmisto - i have an en5/10 that is en+ cross + two vowels
en5/10 Kalmisto is the way a Brit would say the synonym for "whole"-en*** (omittng the "r" and ending with a two vowel equivalent of "re"
un 4/5 amd 5/14
thanks inge!
th+ **d so on; th+ 4/5 before-add second vowel; t+ ***on your head; th+ hee-h**; th+ Look! S**!; th + Greek letter starts with second vowel; th + end of "f**and far bewteen; th+ not out but **; th plus that former th plus second vowel; th word that sounds like having to do with God , only spelled wrong; t+ **** of a rhino (his poker); th+ "are oh"; th word you swallow with; th***s of death all the th's are here. Good luck!
thge 2 unwords are unrelated each to other. One means to tke off your headgear; the pother to be at one (2 vowels after the "n"
no problem, do you want clues as well?
hetty I was merely giving the stats to boreetos
nah i think hetty just covered that. thanks hetty!
FINISHED!! I have fireworks! :D
Congrats Nef!
there are some very strange words in this grid
woot nef!
thank you. Anyone need any help?
There are ALWAYS strange words in the grid- and one that wasn't even in the Enable dictionary!
words are not as strange if you read King James Bible version
isn't that the truth? I wonder what dictionary they use anyway?
no, Inge, there are words here that aren't in the King James bible even
This is true, Inge! So true! For example: And if I am wrong, I promptly am passeth the fish"
true, but some people asking for clues had no idea what Old English is all about
jaia, you are a ruddy marvel--I just wish I could hold those clues still forever. The only one I was stil missing was the one you said sounded like a mispelling of something to do with God so back to enable I go
me too hetty!
Here's a better clue th+ R==de Janiero
not I passeth, but he passeth, third person singular ends in th ( or t in German)
Oh, Inge, I bow to your comand of the English language!
im out kids,i'll see you all later. thanks for the clues!
Another one of my famous typos...
Hi all, How many words today?
Now, if I could just get rid of this migraine......99 words
thanks, Jaianniah
Yw- I hope your last name isn't "dextrous"- LOL
I may know English language, but I am lost when it comes to TV personalities, actors, pop tunes, etc
me, too- I have a head for trivia, but am strangely out of step with TV and movie clues....
got the rio. Am now mortified to think I gave you so much trouble when you had a migraine, please forgive me
Don't be morified- just inform me when you have fireworks and I'll die happy!
time to fix dinner, talk to you all later
that was for you jai; to you inge I say amen--similar ignorance of the current
Bye, inge!
thx
Here are my th clues again: 4:07 pm jaianniah ProfileUnited States th+ **d so on; th+ 4/5 before-add second vowel; t+ ***on your head; th+ hee-h**; th+ Look! Good luck!
Done!
Now I can't find the tw4/8--not the affected behaviour thing, the other
Yay, Angel! &%$*&$&%$&%$* Fireworks for you!
and fireworks for you, jaianniah, for your second splendid list
One tw isn't in the dictionary because it is a naughty word, the other is like someone with a lisp saying "tree"
got the lisp one, jai, it's the naughty behaviour one. How'm I supposed to know that at my age?
TY< Hetty! <blush>
still 25 left. *sigh*
I treid the naughties word I know--"twit" and it wasn't the one
Well, anagram the wa word......
Thanks, jai, thatworked. But I've never heart or seen that word before. Is it like "prat "?
<blush>
yes!
yey, finished again
jaianniah ;)
More feminine than "prat"
hi everyone...anyone else unable to get lickety's page?
Now I'm 3 words away from fireworks and 2 of them are wh5/20 and the last wh4/
72 !!!!!!!
take the fun wh and add a consonant to the end.....the last is "Not if, but wh**"....
nut!!!! {{{ nut}}}
<<<72>>>
Last three - aargghh - fo5 (first); ha8; ho6
*wonder if those are some sort of little hug or a spear*
*raises eyebrows in a sinister fashion*
fo5 = fo4 + e
FO word- "a mighty fo*" + add female chicken minus the e
well, I have the last wh4 then --it and therde question of you cant hear--so it must be the "fun" one.I'm lost
nut: if that's you r souvenir - did you go to key west?
what? to get my cat? i have no souvenirs - i don't travel
ho6 is like a big wasp, or maybe the thing on a cow's heat plus a thing u catch fish in
the end of it rides up the right side column....What you might say on a roller coaster
that would be head, not heat
today is crazy souvenir say. i had a grey tabby called fritz
thanx - got the fo5 and ho6 - now just need the ha8 for fireworks!
Have roller-coasted up to success'
you'r souvenir is pretty freak, i gave the only crazy souvenir i ever bought to my lil bro - a hand carved hand giving a half a peace sign.
think author, first name Nathaniel
oh i think it
think that this is the 4th one ive been able to complete
thanx uncagain - got it! Now to cook for hungry husband!
and added a consonant. Now all I have to do is find the "t" word I somehow haven't entered properly
it's incredibly freaky. there's actualy a web site of celebrity duckies for collectors...
Yay!, Hetty! Fireworks to you from me!
ewwwww! totally freaky, i prefer to collect famous looking cow terds
so does my boss *deja vu - sure we've had this conversation*
yes, only thing is, every cow terd i find looks like martha stewart
LOL!!!!
thanks, jai. Now I have fireworks from Dr God as well. Somehow my little duck had floated from me (te4) but he's back in line.
the cliffie of babble, you are!
YW< Hetty- Now, I and my headache are going to enjoy the end of "Return of the King" one more time!
3 to go
Go, Annie!
anyone clue me on ni 5/20, no 6/21 and to 4/7 so this headach will go away!! thanks!!
*headache
hi
hi, peanut
hi annie
to 4/7 - a character from the Moomin books!
and looking back, I thinks this grid is more like verse by a.e.houseman than that of any other member of the literary poet group. In his "Songs of the Wayfarer" he has lines like "Up, lad, thews that lie and cumber/Sunlit pallets , never thrive/ Days abed and morning slumber /Were not meant for man alive. Clay lies still, but flesh a rover/ Death's a ware that will not keep/ Up, lad, when the journey's over/ There'll be time enough to sleep."
in Illinois, we used to say, "That's a whole No**** thing"- 4/4 is a short no** you write with a diff vowel at the end...
nutcake?
what's up
yo dude
hey everyone !
Good poem, Hetty...Now I go "Poof"- to bed.
hi helen!
hi helen
thanks, jaia, have sweet dreams!
how r u annie

4:07 pm jaianniah ProfileUnited States th+ **d so on; th+ 4/5 before-add second vowel; t+ ***on your head; th+ hee-h**; th+ Look! Good luck!
