Where can I read about the the abbreviations in your clues? I plan to just watch and try to figure things out. I will pay my dues before adding to the chatter. I'd just like a little advice . . .
yep
yes, I admit there is also an element of frugality -- so many of these people have so little anyway. yet they spend lots of money on something that literally burns money...
it happens every year around here sprite...sad

I love grainy b&w pics - I know its either a love or hate thing, but I just adore them!
LOL me too. Grinding to a halt at 119, I can't see how 11 x e's can come off that top row.

Hi Andree
if someone could explain the scoring for me please

A good explanation is given in Angelsong's babble page, under Friends of Babble at the bottom of the page.
thank you Haz, i should have known 'if in doubt refer to the instructions'
Yes, but sometimes you have to be shown where the instructions are!
i usually forget where i have put them
40 left to find and time for a break I think. Catch you all later, Happy Babbling.
Bye FM :)
Bye FMitch - see you later. Break time for me soon, as well.
Bye Haz :)

yay! Congrats!
this is so weird! I just found the so7/40, but, all my 7's are grayed out already, and that isn't on my list!
I have one word left, and the grid shows it to be a 6
its is on my list cat so7
its on my list too
Very odd!
I'm going to refresh and see if the word stats list changes
refreshed, and now the grid show's I am missing a 7 letter word, and not a 6, must have been some glitch, I had been searching this whole time for a 6 letter word.
Done! Finally!
congrats cat!!!!
Thank you dodge!
i have ke4/8 ke5/22 ke7/52 ke7/52..anyone help with the last one??
You're missing another ke4/8 - take the last letters off the ke7/52

Momentarily confused - it's the last letters off the ke6/30 but you've got it anyway.

hey annabell ;)
hiya!
I'm stuck on as6,21
good clue cat, thank you
hi everyone, how's it going
as6/21 - it means paler. Think of what remains after a fire.
still 160 words missing... Y_Y
The other as6/21 changes a vowel for the letter that begins letter
super stuck on the co 7/32 and co 8/45 ... any ideas?
co7/32 - add a vowel, then the word for a plot of land or a place where a house may be built. Pluralise for the 8.
i need 174 left///
haz what do you mean on the as clue??
thanks for the clues Haz!
thanks for the clues Haz!
Thanks Haz tried it without the extra vowel and was getting nowhere!
ok and tnx haz ... let me work on those ... grrrrr
The as clue - both as 6/21 words have the same structure. The second one replaces one of the vowels in the first with a consonant (the letter that begins letter)
Glad the clues helped!
ahh got it now thanks
Thanks haz, got the co and the ash. Godd morning . The deer, three of them, are foraging in our yard.
Good morning inge. I hope they don't eat anything they shouldn't!
tnx again HAZ. gotem both ... now i can sleep ... going on 4am in San Diego
Not much left, mostly weeds
Sleep well ZOOP!
Is that because they've eaten everything else already, inge?
Morning again.
lehi
Hi FMitch - it's safe to play.
Sorry, I have to remember to switch. No we are not growing much valuablle stuff. We have almost 2 acres of wooded land.
Yes Haz departure has taken place.
Good morning all
Good morning Kenny.
Hi Haz. Trying for the CH8...any clues? PATY.
ch8 - another comparative, using a dairy foodstuff
Got it with that, Haz. Should serve it with the fish I'm ingesting! Thanks!
You're welcome! The other item on your menu is in the grid today.
Woops...you're right! The first f*** I've ever had to eat just for saying f***!
It's not a problem!
LOL Kenny
haz, great clues thank you
Kenny, make that a f--- f----!
i.m just lurking here up to 100 now
You're welcome Andree.
Have to go and walk the dog. Happy hunting all.
The s's seem endless today!
TTFN Haz
Thanks again Haz!
Any thoughts on the first EL6?
plural of el5
sorry thats the other one
think of the little people
el +f4/8
thanks fmitch
FMitch, thank you. Wouldn't you know it would be the f*** part that would cause me problems!
yw Beaster. Kenny the f4/8 has come back to haunt you again.
Working now on the last ET6 and the ET7.
et6/24?
No, Beaster, the ET6/18.
sorry don't have that one yet
Good afternoon FMitch..how are you today?
I tried Etf*** as the theme of my day, but it didn't take.
Greetings and salutations, fellow Babblers... it's been a long time!
Hi Jera
hello Jera
et 6/18= e + work + vowel
Afternoon Kallia, trying to keep cool but failing dimally. It is so warm. How are you today? Hi Jera.
Yay, Munner! TY *S*
Kallia, I see you represent a number of words in the grid today!
And then add 's' for the 7
yw. I didn't look for it until I saw you asking. I need a hint for the "i" please.
indeed FMitch lol
I'm fine but warm!
Don't have it yet, munner, but will start looking now
I need a hint for the i too munner
Just got it (that was quick)!
it + s4/7
share kenny? pretty please
Clue for IT...to find it, you have to turn it on it****
You know I have this ridiculous self-imposed rule that I have to find one word from each block + over half the words before I allow myself to go to the list. Just have 45 left, but that blasted i is giving me trouble.
itself
you are right...why didn't I see that?
yup, thats the one!! Don't you hate it when you do that!!
I have a similar rule, Munner, half-way before the list.
Thanks, FMitch, Kenny!
oh drat!!!
sorry ;(
Happy Independence Day, fellow Americans!
yes FMitch...feel such a fool
Don't feel bad Kallia, everyone has done it!!
guess so
Same to you, Munner... are you going to any fireworks?
Oh of course, Happy 4th of July to all our US babblers!!!!
hi everybody!
oh yes 4th July...have a good one
Yes...Happy 4th to us all!
well i might leave it for today, my brain is just not working
hope you all have a good one
There are many spectacular displays here in the Atlanta area, but will depend on energy level--not very good lateley.
having a hard time with one of the as 6/21, i have the more sooty one, can anyone give me a clue?
hello franmaq
hi andree! how are you today?
Same here, Munner... we might be able to see from our house, even... might just get the best (& least polluted) view from the TV...
FranMag, simply fill in the space between the third vowel and its dot.
I'm anout 20 miles from DC, so lots of doings here
fine
thanks kenny will mull that over.
why can't men do things themselves? LOL Hubby home today and keeps wanting me to look at what he is doing!!!
It's so much more exciting to be there in person. But I do enjoy the Public TV concerts from DC.
Being handicapped & having a small child, exciting doesn't have the appeal it used to, especially in large crowds, LOL
franmaq, change 2nd vowel for a consenant
Now, Kallia...On behalf of the Universal Babblemen Society, I can explain.
But I still remember going to a DC display one summer when I was having surgery at Walter Reed... it was awesome! My sister lived close enough to walk... that was back in '83... good times, good times...
thanks kenny and andree!
oh good Kenny it has always puzzled me!!!
Kenny....don't get that clue!
They are bit like children at times when they do that, Kalia
yes Jera...oh well better go tell him what a wonderful job he has done...back in a while
flask, if you have the first as6/21, exchange the i for an l
It is simply that women (wives in particular) have the tendency to come at THE END of a project and then give input. Sometimes the input is valuable, sometimes not, but it always seems to begin with the words, "Why didn't you..." So, for men with more experience (husbands in particular), we tend to ask along the way in order to not execute a misstep we will later regret.
Either that or we're just children *LOL*
smart guy kenny! i wish my husband did that!
Flask, take the sootier one, find the third vowel and then fill in the space between the that vowel and its dot. By doing so, you'll get a different letter which you need to use instead.
Of course, my wife is still asleep, otherwise I could not have said that *S*
Good morning everyone!
hi eva!
Excellent clue, Kenny!
Hi Eva
Kenny, I find that my husband is the 'why didn't you' type... I guess that is personality based as he is not a woman!
Wow, Kenny, that's the kind of clue I need coffee for (though Ifound the word) Happy Fourth All
Greetings, EVA!
LOL Kenny Hi MrP and pam and Eva!!!
hi pam!
I've been trying to watch my "why didn't you" 'tude lately...
That's true, mrpresident. My wife might say that I've done it a time or two. She'd be wrong, but she'd say it *S*
Howdy!
Hi Pam
LOL! I like your wife!
sorry just not gerrin' it....will go back to it later......
*S* Me to, mrpresident!
Too...that is
My son Gwyd says good morning to the 'puter people... he's sitting beside me designing his own flag...
oh .... forgot the greeting! Hello everyone!!
Hi Gwyd
hi mrp!
how cute jera!
Flask, try it one more time. The same first three letters as the other AS, then change the fourth letter to the letter that begins the word letter, then keep the fifth and sixth letters the same as the other AS.
Any clues for the OF6/27?
He got bored pretty fast with coloring in the American flag... might do a popsicle stick project later...
oh I do like the pe8/75!! I would be very naughty giving a clue for that!!
kenny, it means most frequently
mrp, you can give me a naughty clue!!
Got it, Fran, thanks.
ok fran! a penis on a leash!
Ouch

FAB clue
oh Kenny! you don't sound surprised enough!

Fran....as6/21..please???
pleasant dreams Fran, probably much later tonight!
later feather, although i don't think i'm going to be on today at all.
ok, another time then!
flask, the first one is more sooty, starts with what's left when you burn things.
yes...got that one
goodnight fran
the second one starts just like that word, but exchange the i for an l and then it ends the same also
its the second I need

Hello lynxxx - are you well?
HI haz, got 40 to go. need a break. later
See you later inge - you're on the home straight.
Thankyou Haz, yes. My goodness, I have discovered you can click on the pic's lately and just looked at your toooo adorable dog!
She is very pretty, isn't she? She's good company.
Something that is a little damp is surely wetish?!
Soulful !
That's her 'take me for a walk unless you are incredibly hard-hearted' look!
You'd need another t, matty, to achieve the degree of dampness you're looking for.
So wetish is a wee bit dryer than wettish LOL
I think so!
I have four of the five Ks...
Then let me help you find the missing one.
Could I have a clue for the sh5/22 before I spontaniously combust?
it's so scandalous, that it might sh*** you, fmitch!
what a sh*** and surprise that would be!
Your neighbours would have a sh5/22 if you did!
i've got four of the five ks too...5, 7, and 2x4...
Haz - if you touch an electric wire, you will get this..
LOL thanks all, can't believe I didn't see that one. Thank goodness that is an end to the s's.
Grace - there's a ke6/30.

Good for you! I have to go now, shopping with youngest daughter. This could be expensive......
Good luck Haz

Hi Charm
Layne - a dog is a household p** and another word for a rooster is a c4/10 - stick them together for the 7 and pl for the 8. Thats the polite version of the clue.
Hey, faeriekae.
LOL FMITCH
MrP did a great alt clue if that one doesnt work
FMitch - the things I learn while babbling. Thanks!
LOL FMITCH
i'll bet she did!
Funny, Mitch! While waiting for your rooster clue, I found the other pe 7, which also applies!
Thank you!
So it does!!
and the other pe7 is?????
Excellent Clue on the pe
i put the dog and the rooster together. what is the other one??
The other pe7: something that bothers you a lot is a pe**. Now superlative-ize that.

faerie MrP's clue was "a penis on a leash" LOL but <blushing>

Hello, babblers (and rootin' tootin' pistol-packin' mamas): could anyone clue me on the i word, please?
seems to only be doubling if ya hit enter too many times in effort to get it to post!
it stands by it****
TY, Dorens. Have you a halibut handy?
no, but some leftover grilled tuna
That'll do. Hand it over, please.
with sesame oil/coriander sauce?
Ooh, you're my kind of cook . . .
Yum!
it's delish
whoch rhymes with one of our grid words
Fresh coriander, or dried?
not really rhymes, but you know what i mean...fresh of course
hmmm....is it co6/24???? ;)
Sounds wonderful! I like to eat fish, but never seem to be able to cook it well.
No...I'm not jewish...just giving a hint
any hints for re4/7 or 5/16 please?
ha..no, not co, but re
it took me a while to learn fish cookery....grill tuna hot and quick...nice and rare inside
We're talking tuna steaks here?
yup....the best
Do you do anything special to them before grilling?
fish cooking is easy, Layne - either wave it over a flame for a few minutes or parcel it up in foil and butter and shove it in the oven for a while lol
Kill them? :P
Atalante, people tell me it's easy, and I'm a fair cook, but I end up either with fall-apart fish or dried-out fish.
yes, the foil parcels work beauitifully....can add vegs (tomato, potato, whatver and comes out nicely moist)
a little balsamic vinegar, too
brush with olive oil first...allways...can marinate in flavored oil for a few minutes first
yum. haven't tried that and love balsamic
it's a nice touch for some f***
keep trying,layne, you'll get it right eventually....but don't overcook
(inspired by her fellow babblers, Layne vows to try cooking fish once again)
with all the f*** we
e been getting in this grid, it's a good grid today
sorry to interrupt, but anyone have the el6/30?
8-)
like a sprite, feather
my mother taught me a recipe for salmon when I was very young and couldnt cook for love nor money. put salmon fillets in a foil parcel with some butter, lemon, onion and a bay leaf. close the parcel, stick in an oven dish with a cm of water in the bottom and cook for 1/2 an hour-ish. I've found over the years that it works for most fish, and seems to be pretty foolproof!
Sounds easy and yummy!
heh, oops...for some reason i was trying to only work with one point letters... i guess i thought it was like a 5/10 where you use on ly one pointers. anyway, thanks!
yes--- i learned about those packets frommark bittman how to cookeverything...a veritable bible of cookeryparticularlyfish
I still can't cook for love nor money, but I *can* cook fish LOL
yw
Maybe you should open a specialty restaurant, Atalante!
CH8 clue please?
"Just Fish"
another really easy way is poaching them in a bit of milk - then you can prod them and keep an eye on how well they're cooking!
have jotted down your salmon recipe, atalante...will try this week and let youknow
cj, more like a dairy food
Wow, now that's diferent. Mom used to tell us you'd get sick if you mixed fish and milk. Of course, she also told us our faces would freeze like that if we kept making ugly grimaces.
clue for el4 please
ends with greeting
oooh really? I seem to have survived with my mother blithely mixing the two. On the other hand ... myabe that would explain my sore knee, asthma, hayfever ....
lol. atalante
I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Probably some leftover tale from the days before reliable refrigeration or something.
Dorens - mucho thanks.
yw
its really interesting how these things are handed down from generation to generation though
I'm sure I've told my kids things in good faith that will turn out not to be true!
and they'll come back to haunt you when the children phone up saying Mooooooom! You told me that ......!
Probably so. Did you ever see the Woody Allen movie about the future, Sleeper? In it, scientists have discovered that soy and yogurt make you sick, and deep fat frying is the key to good health.
did anyone else look up el 4? It stands for grades 1-12, what will they think of next to make into a word!
don't think I've seen that - but it sounds like a good film to me!
inge, that's crazy
inge, I don't like it. I know language is a fluid, living thing, but I've never heard anyone use that word, and I have to suspect it's not in wide use anywhere.
anyone got a clue for the pe8?
zI agree with both of you
pe8: (I'm just repeating what I heard) a penis on a leash.
like the pretty green blue coloured birds with a big fan tail, with one letter changed
more like a nuisance
i LOVE penis on a leash
gaah, right in the face with the fish, thanx
Actually, it's a thing that turns a valve. But that's no fun!
did anyone catch Mr. Presidents clue on taht one? "Penis on a leash"
that's the fi**, uncagain
You beat me to it Dorens
if you were to scroll down, that's probably been said a hundred times today
not that I have!!
Well, we've very nearly worn out that fi word today.
When I needed the word at 6 am or so, the clue was much more civilized
cant fathom the penis on leash :(
like the pretty green blue coloured birds with a big fan tail, with one letter changed
An animal you have on a leash is your pe*. The second part is another word for a male chicken.
thats the funniest word yet! :-d
thanks
What a letdown that it only means: A small valve or faucet used to drain or reduce pressure, as from a boiler.
the other explanation is a lot more interesting
Which actually could refer to the other meaning lol
it6?
Yes, it does pique the imagination.
it speaks for it****
thanks!
it6: compound word
yw, feather
yay 100 words to go!!!
zzz
pe4/8 any one
anyone have the sc 8?
pe 4/8: similar to the second part of the it6.
oh yes - they're nice whiskies ...
pe rhyms with se 4/7
sc8/55 builds offof the 6/27
thanks, i was never a whisky drinker, atalante...how is it with salmon?
CJ25, 100 is darn close to halfway there.
sc8-70 is somethink like a drawing

Mama said a lady needs 3 pairs of shoes: one black patent leather, for occasions; one white or bone for warm weather, one black or brown for cold months.
I like colors too! Bought colored sandals this summer, lime green, dusky pink, and one turqoise. Love them.
blackpatent used to the shoes to go out in

hi stid :)
hi Atalante! how's the weather for you today? still hot?
hi stid have u got a clue for pe7/8 the last pe7
BOILING hot!
hi oggy. compound word, first three letters a creature who lives with you in comfort, not intended as food + four letters for the rooster; then plural for the 8
oggy, for pe7/and 8 - clue given earlier - penis on a leash
hi periwinkle!
hi stidmama!
or intended as food only when they poo everywhere or scratch up all the furniture etc etc etc
thanks stid got them
sorry it's too hot Atalante... it's cool here -- the pressure shifted so we are getting morning clouds from the ocean that only burn off toward noon. Quite a nice change from a week ago!
oggy didn't you like my clue for the pe7 and 8
yw oggy. how was work today?
at which point you skin them for the other pe word
the usual, and its still hot here as well.

the word is a compound word
Hmm... pet something then?
think domesticated rooster
mmmmm
Word, you are on the right track

hiya all
urg. My garden is now 6 years old, and just about where it should be on my 15-year plan... though if I had more money there would be more "structures" the plants are basically in place now. hi ruthy!
aaah...well im still new to gardening in the horthern hemisphere....i cant get used to the ground freezing..
where did you used to garden rolin?
hi ruthy

hi everyone

Stid, if you can grow thyme and chives, you should be able to grow basil, oregano and margaram
hello all, happy 4th
relift still doesen't work
Hi, does anyone have the sh5/12 and the following sh5/14 ?
and it won't luwanda
lift again? lol
sh 5/12 is plural of previous 4/5---nasty word in some books
luwanda, change the last two letters to picklish stuff you put on hot dogs.
the sh 5/14 is yiddish expression for carry or lug
ty - i have that
am battling with my last 3
thanks dorens....I have the nasty word, but will work on the other....The two sh words that I need follow each other.
what do you need dorens?
Has anyone got the pe6 word meaning plague to enter?
I'm now finished with today's wonderful grid and it really wasn't bad :)
how is it that there are so many words from different languages, yet babble doesn't recognise words like afro, etc.?
not sure, i'm down to 1 now.. and it's showing as an S word..but according to mylist i have them all, so maybe there's something i didn't enter into the grid
have a lot of checking to do
yay, faeriekae
Thanks Luwanda

any last requests? (i do love clueing!!)
thanks hun yr so kind lol enjoy the rest of your holiday, is it the same as a Bank Holiday over here, every one and everything has a day off?
ok, decorating question here!
i'm a guidance counselor in school.....every day until september is a day off....but yes, it i
painting, feather?
i have new drapes...they're ring tops. I also have sheers that i want to put behind them. do i make the two rods at teh same height, or drop the sheer rod to even with where the fabric starts on the drapes?
when did school finish we have another couple of weeks to go!!
sorry.. i am a curtainless exhibitionist
school was over june 22--or thereabaouts, depending on which school
lol, fat lotta help that is!!!
How far down do the ring tops drop the drapes, Feather?
feather, are the sheres in the window or on the out side as the drapes?
i know, i'm useless....with curtains at least
if the window is flush with the wall the the same i guess
it depends...the rings are 2 inches, but then with the way the fabric droops, it's anywhere from 2-4 inches below the top of the ring
I would think that if the ring tops don't drop the drapes TOO far down, it would be okay to hang them even
the sheers aren't hung at teh moment...i took everything down and spackled the holes
i dont think you would want to see the sheer throught the ring tops
m3, that's my thought, but i wasn't sure what was "normal"...tried finding pics, couldn't
Hello everyone
allright, feather, you're in good hands...I'm leaving..bye all and have a great day/evening/night
you could always hang the drapes, thread the sheers, then put the sheer rod onthe back of the drapery rod and see how it looks. there'd be no extra holes to patch that way
bye dorens!
i just googled window drapes go see
ketches
ketch
not sure i follow nef!
dang I do that everyday
hi shorty; remember, put words in the OTHER box ! ;)
Thanks Nef I'll try
*gone googling again*
you want the sheer to be static and the drapes to slide?
(and note that *I'm* the one who says that when I'm so guilty of doing that myself!
well Nef between the two of then everyone should be able to finish todays grid LOL
Feather, if you just put the sheer rod on the drapery rod supports, you should be able to see how it looks
oohh, i see nef
yes m3
can you tell its a womens world !!!
lol
just kind of lay it across the drapery supports after you've hung the drapes, then back up and check it out
ok, i gotcha nef, that's a good idea
you could put the sheer on a rod at the top of the window ( is the wall flush with the wall) and the drapes as normal
we call drapes curtains and sheer voile x
get out the level
i kind of call them either drapes or curtains! either works
gett ing all confused now and still cant find my last 4 letter word !!!
ok, so m3, i'm trying to follow that last thought of yours...do you mean put the voile/sheers even with the top of the window casing, and then the curtains/drapes higher up in the normal place?
sorry to distract! :P
Feather, you could do what M3 said; especially if you have pretty woodwork. Use tension rods inside the window casing
thanks for all the great ideas! off to sort out what i'll do
clue for el4 please
Danged if I know, Oggy. I've been trying that one for almost an hour
whats the value of the el4?
el + letter with a 2 pt value + letter with a 1 pt value. that should narrow it down for you!
hi all...don't have the list but the el4 I have is el+short greeting (hello)
and if you're really paying attention I just typed the short greeting by accident (sorry)
silly word..lol
thanks atlante
stupid word!
Tx Atalante, I kept going the wrong way on that one!
bloody hell!!...thames water has NOT been fined for the leakages...grrrrr
and meanwhile im carring watering cans..
'tis indeed a stupid word. Never heard of it before!
anyone got a clue for the es word please?
but - they have to put in place one heck of a lot of changes which will cost them much more than the fines would be ... apparently they are actually getting a worse deal than being fined
????????? Rolin????
yes??

Please clues for sh5/14 and sh6/24
sh5 - jewish for lug or carry. i kept spelling it wrong
sh 6 plz
co 7/32
Supposed to be big time rain tomorrow - hail and stuff
et 5/12 -- is like a culture....the Greek et*** for example.
Matty and Atalante, the weather.com site claims London temperatires are 25 ish, i.e. only 79.
Gardnepaints...there are two sh 6's ...which one?
Earlier today - it certainly seemed hotter!
i do believe 6/ 24
but i also require assistance with co 7/32 if you could
The Jewish word people use to carry things...usually used when the packages are heavy or the person i s tired.
What is Jewish for lug or carry - I don't think I know any Jewish words lol
it was 32 here today earlier on ....
co + 2nd vowel + si4/4
CO 7/32 = co+second vowel + si 4/4
sh5/4 means clumsy
the yiddish word is spelled incorrectly, drop the 2nd consonant
it is sh+le4/5 and drop the last letter
32 = 90 Farenheit. That's pretty hot if you don't have air conditioning
sh 5 is the German word for 'haul' without its second letter (after the s).
ys I was about to ask whether you all have air conditioning,
co6/24 anyone?
no aircon ... I wish!
No air conditioning! Actually, that's a slight fib - the office does, after a fashion but not at home.
may i plz have help on a sh 6
like special pickles, matty
my licketysplits says that there is none left but i know i need that one
I only came onto the subject because I was checking the temperatures at the soccer cup matches, they are in the upper 70 now, but must have been hotter in the afternoon
is that your dog, fuzzy?
matty, think about k***** pickles, but change the first letter to c
Thanks!
SH 6/24 is the Yiddish word being explained; SH 6/36 is plural for SH 5/22
yes, that's ellie the wonder dog
its been *really* hot here today, we always get a few degrees higher on the south coast than London it seems, and fans and constant iced drinks didn't seem to make much difference!

jeny - the longer one is just plural
thank you jilli. we'll try not to set the woods on fire.
it's the 2nd that's got me stumped :/
es, shutter, I'm back this evening after an afternoon doing chores like recycling but am down to 6
oh, of the 1st?
*yes
yes jeny.
I still have 77 left.
co7/32 and 8/45?
bah, I didn't understand that the bigger the word, the more the score goes up!
ok, thanks so much!
fuzzy -- the woods are already on fire in BC -- lightning though, not July 1 fireworks (Canada Day)
I was racking my brain to make the points
shutter, it ends with a word that means location, co + vowel + location
ditto those co words
the 8/45 is plural of that.
ty - c words done1
the only word I can think of for location is place.
shutter, opp of stand + a vowel
shutter location --- si 4/4
shutter - think of a location...on the internet
thanks all, got the,!
Them!
Down to business now -- I have 6 to go, probably deserving 6 big fi**ies: let's start with co5/12 and co6/21. Any help available?
jillie, co5/12, tea warmer
done with the co's!
co 5/12 - think spring
and co6/21, more comfortable (build off the tea warmer.
Jilli, if youa re warm you may be Co** only soekked dufferent. The six letter is more of that.
sorry, that's co 6/21 - spring
I mean spelled differently.
think warm and co...

same first three letters Darci, then a consonant, followed by "one who" ending (comparative?)
thanks stid!
1st ec4/6 and 5/14?
26 to go stid
finishing up my re's
first ec4/6 is like the second 4/6, with a different vowel on the end
42, but then I took a nap for a while... :-)
go Jeny Go!
nevermind.

Somebody must have the first st5/10, but not me.
trying to clean up the ones I missed in the early letters...
brb, well maybe!
sh4/5-- not the scatalogical one?
st5/10-- fence?
first st5/10 - like the romance author danielle, minus a vowel
isn't that the type of "butter" often used in soaps liba?
lib: think of sh4/5 butter
st 5/10 is like the metal, but swap the last two letters.
Well I have a friend with an Irish name which is Sh = 2 vowels

It's a TV show on Fox.
same here darci, what do you need, trade ya
Never seen it.
bonkler - es5/12?
last ec 5/14 for me
a technique for time out it one minute for each year old the kid is
ec5/14 - take one of the vowels out of the ec6/24 right above it
It's one of those shows that makes one feel better by virtue of comparison. You know, like, "Wow, I thought my kids were bad until I saw them..."
bonkler - trick word. another plural of hearing one's voice reverberate
ah the engineer on the original star trek mr. es***
darnit! if my husband were here i could totally get that clue. but i don't know enough about star trek
lol krista...
A kilted fellow after the ee
es - like the scarf men wear with their smoking jackets.
does anyone remember the Mrs Pigglewiggle books? Parents would leave their difficult children with her at her farm and she would cure them.
yay!!! fireworks! thanks bonkler :)
and fireworks for me, thanks all
eva - omg, i LOVED mrs piglewiggle
I LOVE Mrs. Pigglewiggle!
I'm back!
Was she real or fiction? Must google that one!
ok, LAST WORD - the last ti5/10, after the person who affixes ceramic squares
es5/12?
She was right up there with pippi longstocking!
I hadn't thought of them in a long time but the supernanny thing reminded me. Do the books still exist? I always wanted to go to Mrs Pigglewiggle but wasn't "bad"enough.
Krista she was fictional
jill-do you have the plural?
They are making a reappearance. My husband is an elem teacher adn every so often i see the books in a Scholastic order form
Yes, that was a stupid question, Eva.
i remember miss pigglewiggle too
es5/12 anyone?
I'm told the plural doesn't exist in the puzzle, eva
think I'll go to the library tomorrow and look for them.
jill- I meant the plural of the square ceramic bits
not at all stupid krista-I wish she were real
I just looked on Amazon = they look wonderful! I was looking at the one about a kid who didn't want to bathe. Mrs. P planted radish seeds on her! Too funny. My son would love these!
et 5/12 and 4/5?
My favorite was the one where the kids wouldn't clean there room and eventually they had to be rescued by the fire department
from what I remember they were firm but very warm and avoided moralizing.
I'm stuck on the K words. I have the ke 4/8 only.
whoops, eva! going down instead of UP! Fireworks (and fish!) and thanks very much (when will I learn to plural?
krista-ke4/8,end of pet bird,ke5/22-boat,ke7/52-plural,ke4/8 beginning of diabetic state,ke6/30 expansioin of that
congrats jilli!!
Krista - the k's are kinda kind this time. K4/8 is in the corner. 5/22 is a kind of sailboat, and 7/52 is the plural. The next two are related and I'll try to clue them in a mo
thanks, eva and jill...got them all except the boat. Hmmm
more clues for ke6/30?
Ke*** me if you can!
ooh - clever clue, ty.
can't keep my eyes open any longer. See you all tomorrow.
night, eva
G'night, Eva. Sleep well.
Ping, what is your icon?
it is a photo of lights
i haven't been keeping up with the themes this week
Yes, I couldn't tell if there was a theme today from the icons. I haven't been keeping up, either.
any clues for the second AS 6? I have the one meaning *more charred*
I forgot where someone told me to look for them (someone's site).
quitting at 161 words, bye all!
krista, there is a link to the icon themes on lickety's list page on the right hand side.
i was told to check Babbler's profile for the themes - you have to add her to your friends list
2nd a6 - change 4th letter to another consonant
goodnight, shutter
bye shutterbug!
aw, shutter! sleep tight!
thanks, jill, very much!
hi again, fran -- I finished in spite of being BUI (you're not going to hear the end of this!)

Have to get kiddies to bed. Hate to leave at 109 words left. Oh well. Night!
Any clues on the ch 8/50?
See ya' Krista!
Bye stid! Hope to chat with you all again soon.

matt, most sentimental - uses name of a dairy product
Thanks Nef!
I'm down to 9 words now; any help on the sh 5/12's out here?
WTG!
nef, one means * more quiet around strangers*
one is plural for slang word for defecation
Thanks Ping! :D
i'm stuck on the CO 7 and 8 - any hints?
yw, nef
co + vowel+ si4/4
and the 8 is plural
thanks, nef - got them!
how about the 1st sh 5/18? I've had trouble here at the end with some of the easiest words!
i have one that means the kind of car without automatic tramsmission, it has a stick sh***
Se 4/5 also; and the last 3 et words (et4/5, et6/18, and et7/28)
no, I have that one too
se 4/5 is first syllable of ninth month of the year
se 4/5 is first syllable of ninth month of the year
I have 7 words left
THANKS! (wonder how I missed that?)
last 2 et words are french for star and then plural
how many do you have left?
(are we the last ones here?
for the et 4/5, take word above it and subtract the O
last of the chatters, maybe?
I don't know any French, and when I googled it I got a LOT of French!
e + work very hard + e
add s for the plural, just like in english
No, I am still here!
Hi Stidmatt.
hi matt!
I still can't figure that out Ping
work hard is one of the to 4/4s
first syllable of word meaning commode
nef - do you have to4/4? add an e to each end
THANK YOU!!! I FINALLY got it!
From a song in Harry Potter movies... "trouble, trouble, to4/4, and trouble."
WTG Nef!
(I am so embarrassed.... I live in Minnesota; our state motto is etoile du north or something like that! ) <Blush>
Sorry, thought you were askign for a clue.
tx nef
Okay, 4 words left! :D
i'm missing the last EC 5/14
Thanks Matt for trying to help
me too, ping..
hi lib!
So am I Ping. :( sorry
Hello everyone
leigh, did you finish earlier?
hi, ping!
or are you back to race the clock?
sheesh, matt, that To** and trouble is Shakespeare!
and hi Lib
Nope. Not yet. Not even close. I figure I'll try and push as much as I can, but I still have 116 to go!
for ec 5/14 just try "misspelling" ec 6/24
hi, nef!
Jilli, can you help with that last ec 5/14? Please??
why am I back? Bum steer - the programme is an hour from now, so I can help for a while (still have to sup, but nm
nef, subtract a voel from the end of 6/24 (took me a while too!)
Kwamama; I've monkeytyped everything BUT that combo! Thanks!!! :D
*vowel
great clue, kwama! thanks!
jilli: yes originally Shakespeare, but most recently and within Matt's experience, it was used in a Harry Potter movie!
3 left!
oh, ty, jill!
go nef!!!
Second as 6/21?
Oh, I didn't know that it is originally from Shakespeare!
Matt needs to read some really gory tales like the Scottish Play!
matt, in macbeth, the witches say it as a spell in the opening scene - very spooky
et 4/5, hi 5/12, and se 4/5 (why is it the little words tonight?
leigh - clued a coupla minutes ago --as6/21, change 4th letter to a consonant
Matt, Macbeth is so cool!
ty jill. Guess I needed to be on earlier
for the et 4/5 - take the et 5/12 and remove the second vowel
et4/5, stupid word, eliminate vowel from 5/12 before it
hi 5/12 plural of where to keep the sword
se 4/5 is the first syllable of the 9th month of the year
re4/7?
re4/7 - re + suppose?
Thanks for the et; now t seems I must have the wrong h; I have the plural
It is a ho 4/5 I'm missing
nef - what plural?
which ho?
one ho 4/4 is what some one does to prepare a garden, and the other is what one uses to water it
Jilli, I guess I hadn't checked off the hi plural (sword handle)
sorry, those were ho4/5s
and I'm hitting myself with a fi 4/4 for missing the garden tool!
suppose?
lib - what **?
Let me see what is my LAST word (it starts with S)
go nef
re + suppose? mental block here...
(You should hear the fireworks here! It's all little stuff; bottle rockets, and lady fingers in my neighborhood) :D
YAY nef!!!!
Don't sniff the fi4/4 on your hand!!
I just got back from the local fireworks display a few minutes ago. It was very good this year
LOL, no Jilli I still have 1 last lousy word & I'm trying to find which one I missed)
My dog, the big Galoot, hates fireworks, he thinks someone is at the door.
lib - what ** the fireworks should come to you?
ty, jilli! thick here!
I did that too, nef -- forgot it was one of those days -- happy 4th
lib re 4/7 = re+ **wishes were horses....
8 left!!!
ty, nef
matt - what kind of a big galoot? I love 'em all
I'm missing the first sh 5/18
28 left...
surely not? it's the singualr of 6/30!
where you line up all your books, on a sh***?
sorry -- ping's right
the "big galoot" is a sheperd
nope, the one I'm missing is right before Ed Sullivans' word : "a really big sh**"4/9
beautiful he is, but definetly a galoot!
that's the one -- where you put your books
YAY!!! BABBLE FIREWORKS with the 4th of July Fireworks outside! :D
Jeny, give him a big scrunch behind the ears
congrats nef
yay, nef!

LOL! et 6/18 (one of the owrds I had a lot of trouble with!)
Thanks, but I got it. =) Caught it as soon as I asked for help.
oh, et, the french star -- to4/4 with an e on each end
I was looking at the wrong et
fi5/16-- not one who puts in order, or a cut of meat or fi**
i'm missing 3 PEs in a row - 6,7, and 8 - they follow word meaning more like insects
liba- there's the person who puts the things you're looking for in order
"L'Et**** Du Nord" is Minnesota's state motto
got that-- only 3 fi5/16's?
there are 3 5/16s in a row, headed by fi 4/7, and I think the one you want is that one's plural
Yes
Ping, the pe6 is a mortar and pe**** 6/21
got 'em, ty-- what am I missing...
the pe 7 and pe 8 are combo words doubled . they are a switch but the combo words a a domestic animal + a rooster
to4/7?
how polite, nef <giggle>
pe 7 & 8 are like the really feathery birds, but change the second vowel to a consonant.
Jilli, I'm old (and "proper") ;) :P
nef, never would have gotten the 7 and 8 - thanks!
I'm older, and improper!
to 4/7 rhymes with so 4/7
Hee!
hi everyone - any clues on the second as?
ty, nef!
hi is 1; just replace the 2nd vowel in the word with an L
co4/8--have the hairdo...
tx nef
hi, ls1 -- it's a popular one -- change the 4th letter of the 1st as 6 to a consonant
tx jilli
he 5...anything to do with the he 4 before it?
I should stop asking for hints. I got it.
lib the co4/8 is tough to clue -- wait a bit
LIb, sorry, do you need clues to the co 4/8? the first co 4/8 goes along with the rhmes with so 4/8 and to4/8; they all have the same 2 last consonants
lib, rhymes with what you did to clear your throat.
co4/8 rhynes with so4/7
co 4/8, sounds like what you did when you were sick
good hint, Fran
got it fran-- great clue!
Oops. Very late on that clue. =)
