Night knutmeg!
Jaianniah's rule: when all else fails, don't forget to plural it, shorten it, lengthen it, add ier, add eses, etc.
Those will be multilangual kids then, susan!
jaianniah said a wo-ord, jaianniah said a wo-ord :D
ROFL!!!!!!!
Silly Mom! Okay, going to bed. Really.

I was trying to swear off thaddiction, spent a couple of weeks traveling too.
What is the url of your site?

Hey jillibus
Owwww... Blaze that is wonderful! And that for someone as young as you :)
em you puke in them in the hospital....that's the funny version....
Em6/21 = M + SS
WTG< Sprite!
trouble is it may be to young for her to be a mother... only time will tell.... and she is still living with us and will do so after the child comes home...
great clue, Sprite! thx
Ooph... that sounds kind of intense, Blaze.
not so bad... life is always a good thing....
How old is the mother-to-be, Blaze?
Es8/45 = Es + th6/21
she will be 17 at the end of this week...
That's terribly young indeed, Blaze. Does she really want to be a mom already?
es8- put es+ a VERY common word *** house, ***door, ***dog+ plural it double
Do you watch Coronation Street, Blaze?
I like sprite's clue better....
I don't thiink is was at all planned... but she exercised her choice and choose to have a child... so time will tell.
Rule # 1: NEVER tell people their life looks like a soap! ;)
Jillibus... yes... I do but stopped when the story line had danny sleeping with leanne...
That wasn't the idea -- justthat sometimes a young mother can be a good one
Blaze, at least she has a loving and supportive family to back her. I hope you will all be alright.
that was the pits, Blaze, but I can't stay away from it

many affirmatives, and affirmatives, past tense
The Grizzly Grid
But it's not, it is a great grid today :) Hi matty
The Grid of Many Plurals
Got the tm. Help on the ye's, please
Hi Sprite! There's a word beginning TM?!
Oh dear, I said a word. *hangs head in shame*
ARB, I just clued them- affirmatives
I *knew* that was a word - stupid grid wouldn't accept the TM word earlier!
Yes, there is. It means Separation of the parts of a compound word by one or more intervening words; for example, where I go ever instead of wherever I go. (pl)
aah, I thought that was a general description of today's grid for Matty !
You said a word?!
I did. T4/7.
Jilli did you see that... Sprite said a word... Rofl
F I R E W O R K S
Sprite sa-d a word, Sprite sa-id a word....
Hooray, sprite said a word -- but she hasn't typed in the wrong box, alas
I am glad jaianniah didn't bite my head off right away, LOL.
So you did. Naughty Sprite. In your defense, however, it is an easy word to say!
Yay, ARB!!!!!!$%$%$%$%$%$ for you!
:D
WTG ARB!
YAY ARB -- mah-vellous
Congrats ARB!
(no toddler today?)
I was waiting for someone else to point it out first....since I did it twice!

jilli: musical instrument(s) with a keyboard and metal plates struck by hammers that produce bell-like tones. Somehow makes me think of 'famous'.
That's not very conveniant, I think, Ata. But no hurry, of course, I just wondered if it reached you.
thx sprite -- like Ms Holm? (or are you too young for her?)
its not very convenient at all :( but husband should be fixing it soon. I hope.
The actress, jilli? I know of her, a little.
Good morning all.
*reminds herself: convenient, NOT conveniant*

es8/45 a womans nameminusthe last 2 letters+e4/4

There is another de8/45 and another tr8/40 but I don't know what they are
tr 8/40 is more tr 5/10
I have a de8 that's a plural of the food you have after a meal
got that one now too thank you.....was going the wrong way and couldn't find the plural
i also have a de8 - person who hates
tr8/40 - plural tr7/28
ty hurshy :)
The other tr8 is an alt sp of a type of table. think chruch halls and jumble sales.

well done Karys esp as that was supposed to be church not chruch!!!
from tr5/10 there are 7 words i have so far

i have included the original word in that count
FMitch.. hello! I found an re8/50; do you have that?

the root of the 9 is also a fish. i mean an actual fish not a fishy babble word.
lovely clue hurshy...thank you :)
re9/66 re+sm7/36
hurshy - what time are you meeting up with sprite?
1 (12 your time)
Thank you Hurshy!
sprite was say earlier that the weather is rather wet? that's a shame.
it can't be too wet, the hotel is planning to serve lunch in the garden today.
Have a lovely time whatever the weather.
i'm sure we will :)
i don't mind rain at all anyway.
oh bother, i forgot about my icon. is it bothering anyone? what's the theme today, maybe i can find something.
LOL hurshy - looking at Babblers handbag todays theme is timepieces and was your suggestion
:) well i made so many suggestions, when we had brainstorming sessions, i don't remember them :) i am sure i can find a fun timepiece...
Aloy - how are you getting on witht the grid?
got 100 left to find...now must go and do some work....back later ...thanks for help everyone x
Political correctness dictates that brainstorm might be offensive to epileptics. We are supposed to have thought showers. Such nonsense.
wow, i never heard about that one. refresh!
Bye Karys What total twaddle Haz, political correctness goes too far again!!
this grid is fun so far - big words popping out.. I am cruising along.. (-: how do you like it, FMitch?
Same here Aloy have made it to 102 but the w word is going to get n the way again like yesterday.
w?
*hurshy is puzzled*
huh?
Shhhhh. Work.
ohhhhhhhhhhh
oooooooooooooh
It's politically incorrect to refer to it in case the unemployed take offence.
LOL and at 10.00 I will disapear "poof"
And here I was looking at the grid thinking "There's no W!"
I'm joking - but the time may come.....
well luckily they don't throw people in quod for not being PC
What if you take offence at political correctenss? Will they make PC non-PC?
Someone was arrested here for insulting a horse.
:)
Honestly? That's insane!
arrested? really? what was the punishment?
Funny Kitty!! Darn 10.00 bye all and Happy Babbling - back later.
bye fmitch!
B'bye FMitch!
bye, FMitch... see you later..
bye mitch :)
bye everybody have a good babbling day:)
I'll not be able to remember all the details, but someone in England, caught up in a fracas, insulted the policeman's horse. He was arrested - can't remember if he was convicted of anything, but you get the picture. The horse is still undergoing treatment for mental distress and the compensation figures are bound to be high.
sorry ppl but this bloody switchboard keeps jumpin in front of the grid lol
Bye FMitch !
so was it more a case of police liking to wield their power then?
bye, Jean
They have so many rules and regulations that I think they just like to find an example to fit in with what they perceive to be an offence.
think I 'm going to learn some new "y" words today..
and how about that whole zidane thing, eh? did you hear why he did it? it was pretty bad on the italian player's part...
The Italian was at fault for insulting him, but he should NEVER have reacted the way that he did. It was a great shame that a brilliant career was ended like that.
a very great shame. but i wonder whether the italian player knew that he'd just found out about his mother's illness.
It probably wouldn't have mattered. Exchanging insults seems to be par for the course in football and other sports, including cricket!
yes but telling him he hoped he and his family would die ugly and painful deaths, if he knew that zidane had just found out his mother was seriously ill, is way more morally repugnant than zidane head-butting him.
They were words, dreadful words, but Zidane's actions were wrong. It sends out the wrong message to younger players.
of course. i just think it's unfortunate (and perhaps a reflection of the fact that the course of history has been male-dominated) that physical acts are punishable but emotional ones are not. if a man breaks a woman's heart and she keys his car, she can be punished and he can't.
however, it is of course understandable as physical things are more able to be proved.
Exactly - how do you prove a broken heart? I have sympathy for Zidane as he was obviously provoked, but he should have turned away. Easily said, not so easily done, but one wonders if he doesn't regret that moment of madness.
i'm sure he does regret it. i can't think of a worse way to end a career, and i wish he had been able to remember who he was and what he meant to france.
urf. i'm having P troubles.
Hello all, I've been muddling thru. Have there been glues for the de 8s plz?
He'll not be able to sing the old Piaf song. 'Je ne regrette rien'.
Hello Merk - think puddings and one who hates.
British puddings?
puddies, pies, cakes, cookies....
Ah, yes. Thanx
so for P words i have muscles, a soccer player and pl, and a fur (or to throw stuff at someone). anyone have others?
That's all I have as well.
oh i just got another that rhymes with... purchases.
sorry, noth there yet..
found a ce 7/8 combo - girl's name
pe6/24 top part of a window
valence?
and plural
what you might hang the valance from
Sounds like a tinker or someone who sells wares door to door.
ahhh
didn't know it was called that. thanks :)
yw
wait i can't plural that
That's because we're cluing two different pe6/24 - you can plural the bed one, not the salesman.
bed, window, i'm all dizzy
pe6/24 - in Britain used to decorate the top of a window.
pe+ vowel+ past of to meet someone
i'm coming there tomorrow... a day too late for pe6/24
ok i got it. but not vowel in case anyone else is trying to use that clue.
i need ci 5/16
pe6/24, rhymes with protective headgear.
golly, that second T is mysterious.
ci5/16 is also a girl's name, nickname for cecilia
sorry
i suppose it's in as an alt spelling of a girly guy?
ci5/16 - not what you would want to call a macho man,
thx Haz
Hi all! It's Q-week here at Babble! Although I'm guessing there aren't any q-words today?
nope, not a one.
hi amanda :)
hurshy did u say u were coming to britain??
Morning amanda!
yes, tomorrow. i'm in amsterdam at the mo.
were abouts?
london, but with day trips to other places.
Morning Amanda! And you're right, there's no words starting with Q today
hope u enjoy it,,,
i'm sure i will. :)
does anyone have the last i, i have 2 frozen water ones and 5 land-surrounded-by-water ones...
Still looking for the last i as well.
i've got 8 s's left but only one or 2 from most of the boxes.
hurshy I have 3 frozen water and 4 land etc do you have the 7 letter frozen water?
aha, thanks kate!
As in no frozen water - thank you!
actually ic 7/32 meaning no frozen water
you can make the land etc plural
i mean you can make it past tense
of course you know about the pl.
ty--I missed one plural
oh, ok then. :)
i'm trying to decide at what point i need to look at the list in order to finish before i go meet sprite.
I am at 122 words without the list--and do have to get to other things at some point
did i miss discussion on some 8's before i came? i need 3 more.
I have 9 of the 8 letter words. Which do you have?
ce, 2 de, es, 2 re, he, st, 2 tr
i have ce, dex2, he, re, trx2
ok so i need es, st, and another re
Geez, there are that many words? And there are more than 9 8-letter words?!?! must go put in contacts so I can see better!
es + th 6/21
ok got the st
i had best find th6/21 then
st = hairy past tense plus new first letter
uh, that's nothing like the st i found.
re=past tense of thaw again
the other st = flat bottomed glass
ok i am confused. there's just one re and 2 st, then?
Hi how are you all going with the grid
sorry--there are 2 st 8's
is the th6/21 weird too?
and one re
th 6 = plural dissertations
that'd be a no then. :) thanks kate.
and i just need one more 7...
i have ce, 2 de, ic, me, pe, re, sm, 3tr
i think i must need another tr
Aah, I'm finally half way through
cause someone said there were 7 tr5/10 based words.
you wouldn't think it would be that hard, in that case...
oh no, that tr is a 6.
I have what you have except no m 7
me7 is a comparative
I just got the m 7 lol
:)
hmm, well, i'm 90% done, so i think i'll get the list now.
oh those es plurals!
i don't tend to miss the s plurals, but the es plurals are another story.
oh the fish!
anyone have an se 5/6 combo?
oh nvm got them. fish.
it's te7 but i can't figure what it is...
golly. it must start with the te 4/4...
*sings* dancing with myself...
Our systems were down. Now it's up. Did I miss anything?
you missed me discussing words with myself.
i just need te7 and a ty 5/6 combo.
hurshy... for the ty combo, try a word sounds like giving a portion of your income to church.. pl..
alternate spellings! they get me even more than es plurals!
thanks aloyisius.
Hurshy what you give to church, not spelled anyway i know tho
YAY! Got the 9 and the 8's! Now on to the 7's - Hi aloy!
got it! i'm done.
morning
Good morning pam.
congrats, hurshy
congrats Hurshy, hi Pam
yay, hurshy! have fun at lunch with sprite.. hi, amanda and pam..
hmm, pam...your icon seems, at this period in american history, to be inherently paradoxical. you must mean it as a plea.
Hi Pam - Hursh, say hi to Sprite for us!
i have more phantom than real words (real as in babble-accepted, that is)
i shall say hi to sprite from the whole babble world.
which is sort of silly as people can say hi to her directly when she's on but oh well.
beware of rogue tm words
well one anyway.
tm? As in starts with tm, or trademarked words?
as in starts with.
is it that linguistics thing that i can't ever remember?
learn something new every day! (-:
yes but this time it's plural
well, I guess I remembered it well enough to get it on the first monkey-try...
that's OK, I will NEVER get it, LOL
yay amanda :)
Pam - it has the same ending as the plural dissertaton.
*hurshy weighs the desire not to be ridiculously early against the possibility of getting lost and being late and tries to decide the exact right time to leave for lunch*
I'll try, haz
and that 4 letter ending is also a word in its own right. in babbleland anyway.
There's also em6/21 with the same structure.
ye olde throw up basins!
have the em...
and as it turns out, the te7 ends that way too.
It's difficult to get really lost in Amsterdam Hursh - just find a graacht and follow it. In the right direction, of course :)
got it...looking for a 4, not a six, thanks all
well i managed to do it yesterday amanda, due to my map having 2's meaning different things and not noticing that i was near a black 2 instead of a red 2
got the te--thanks, hursh!
yw
i always find my way eventually
Hi all
takes two wings to fly, and I must have another cup of coffee... brb
Of course, with my method you sometimes end up going in circles - but I never mind that. I love wandering aimlessly around Amsterdam
hows todays grid
well the first cause of my trouble yesterday was that i expected to see the obelisk and didn't realize it would be blocked from view by the palace.
today's grid seems harder than it turns out to be in the end.
175 words
did u know that i'm onley a 10 year old kid
alrighty, ye mighty, i'm off to meet spritey
yes, miki, my telepathic sense told me that immediately.
laters all
good morning miki. The grid isn't too bad so far.
bye hurshy have fun :)
See ya, Hursh! Have fun!
hi eva miki :)
morning marso
hi marso, eva
hi amanda :)
hi amanda
ok, I give up - clue for th pe7?
pe7 - plural of pe6/24 - window treatment sounding like protective headgear
thx Haz - has anyone ever heard of that? I don't think I'd want one in my window...
They're widely used here!
I googled it - is it that thingy up at the top? I think we call them valences in the States
it is amanda
Valances are what we call the frilly things under mattresses and hiding the divan arrangement of the bed.
lol haz
No wonder there was confusion earlier on in the log!
Oh, I love the US-Brit confusions! Those things we call dust-ruffles
or bed skirts
or that, too
The education possibilities on babble are endless.
my sis lives in New Hampshire,,but she still has the scouse accent tho she does get a bit mixed up at times,,
I am going to take a break - 46 left to find and the list will help me later.
bye haz
See ya Haz! I think I'm going to the list now...
me too, amanda.. 24 left. Bye, Haz..
Oh, I've got about 50 left, but I think I've got most of the "normal" words - we'll see!
I've got 29 left, all of them T words, again! It seems that I always get the T's last. :)
h'mm, a little ole le4.5 has me befuddled..
that's a babblet, Aloy. The dic doesn't have a def, it's the first syllable of german "to teach"
thanks, amanda... I remember my deutsch! (-:
Sehr gut! So how 'bout returning the favor with the pe6/24?
...the first one, that is, right after the muscles
whoops... I have the second one, sorry.. not the first. Es tut mir sehr leid!
Macht nichts - we'll get it eventually
ya wohl!
would that pe be the one that sounds like exChancellor Kohl
Kohls first name, change h to p and u to e
pe6/24 - looks like an alternative spelling for old fashioned door to door salesman
thanks haz!
nope, that's the second one. Ah! Thx Haz - I'd tried that in verb form, which didn't work
got it... danke, Haz!
You're welcome!
Afternoon, taking a quick 5 min break
Bitte shon.
welcome back, FMitch
tx Haz, got that one too, and I thought you were on break
I'm interrupting my housework as well!
Hi Mitch! Break from solving to chatting, or break from working to babbling?
hi FMitch!
Just getting ready for my morning swim.
LOL break from work to babble and Hi all
That sounds like a lovely idea Eva
Matty - are you still around?
hi fmitch wb :)
Matty's not logged in, FMitch.
But since you're the administrator....
Oh she must have gone recently Oh well not to worry I've emailed her.
LOL very funny!!!
Thought that would amuse you.
ooo, that silly se4/6 from yesterday is here again
yes, but the volcano is missing for a change!
true. I miss it when it's not there...
somebody from spain??
me too! always makes me smile..
how is it possible that stresser isn't a word??
probably for the same reason that neither petless nor hemless are words - who knows?
welll... I find the omission to be a stresser.
scep
Careful Grace or you might find yourself typing the st8/45 into the log!!
never even finished it then lol sorry
Yay! I'm done! *Fireworks* :)
no danger of that FMitch.
Woohoo Kitty!!!
well done kitty,,,,
hurray, Kitty!
Go Kitty!
Anyone need a clue before I go off to me4/5 from this heat?
what does the 9 start with?
how about me6/21?
re9/66
me6/21 is a lot of untidynesses
ah...silly one. thx.
Thanks Kitty - that gave me 2 6's and a 7
h'mm, I think I'm going the wrong way, but I'll keep trying.. ty Kitty
lol... I WAS going the wrong way! got it.. (-:
haz which re is the 9?/
haz: past tense of re7/32
FIREWORKS!
yay amanda!
wow, amanda.. wtg! congrats!
Woohoo amanda, well done!!!
congrats amanda :)
good morning babblers!
:)
yay amanda!
hi, chyna
hi aloy
Wouldn't have made it without the list
I know what you mean amanda
yes, i remember the old days when it took forever, so I really couldn't play on the "big grid" days..
Ahh Aloy - the days even before Brandyjacks list and pro status.
yes, indeedy..
BJ gave Babble back to me..
LOL it was a very different game in those days.
well, I certainly had to have a different strategy to complete a grid.. very time consuming
I think our nostalgic outburst has sent everyone else to sleep and I must go back to my spreadsheet, only another 800 lines of data to check :((
later, FMitch.. I have 8 left; the "s"s are my hangup today..
I'm off too - have fun all!
bye, amanda.. auf wiedersehen!
Bye amanda
de8 anyone?
bye amanda :)
the first de8 that is...
think yummy, grace... after dinner yummies
i need that one too Grace, waiting with bated breath
make mine trout.
(-:
oops. then I need the other de 8
inge-- someone who's awol
do you have the pastries de8?
oops! that's wrong! Someone who hates...
nv I found it foregot to double the consonant for the other
good morning. what was that de/8 clue?- i have the treat.
de8 one who hates
two de 8: one is afterdinner fare, the other is person who hates, got to take a break now
ty - got that
can i get clues for 1st pe 5/12 and
how about es8 anyone?
pe + "to be" + 2nd vowel
es + th6/21
thx!
yw! :-)
thx
Bet I've missed all the best clues whilst I was working and the net was down...
Hi matty - I emailed you a little earlier today to yr aol a/c can you pick it up?
fireworks! now i can beat the garbage man and get the trash out to the curb.. (-:
I'm at 104 words but this grid is playing tricks on my eyes-- I'm missing so many obvious words!
F - checking now!
a tm word? Huh!?
GraceM, it is the plural of a word that means the insertion of a word or word fragment into another word, for example, "infreakingcredible". Here the word is the plural of that noun.
Got it F - I'll keep my eyes open ;)
goodmorning
thx jan...I was able to monkey it...
clue please for re4/6, last re 4/4 ihave the one to lie down and 1st re 4/6
andree, if something is normal it is re*****. abbreviate the word

yUp

evan, i haven't had breakfast yet and would love some grits
now how about some wrods taht are REALLY there
hehe... and on that note, i actually DO need to go get some breakfast!
me too....bye for now
back in a few!
not grits, a really good biscuit with cream gravy.
20 words to go!
pe7 anyone?
Fireworks!
It's like the protective headgear only change the h to p.
Congrats Merk! Morning, everyone.
Goodnight, my bedtime here. I finished just in time.
Goodnight then, Merk. :)
Did you get the clue, GraceM?
NOT grits?!? Charm, one can have biscuit with cream gravy AND grits, you know.
yes, but if you have grits, Layne, you need butter too. and then you need an egg to go with the butter. Then the egg begs for some sausage, and if you're having sausage, you need a pancake or three. Then, before you know it, IHOP has run out of breakfast!
LOL! You're right!
ic7 anyone?
Grace....lack of the hard white stuff
Good morning everyone! I just finished grits for breakfast. YUM!
Good morning everyone! I just finished grits for breakfast. YUM!
good morning all!
Morning Annie!
ah...thx!
Hiya, Annie!!!!!
11 to go!
grace - ic7 = no frozen water
im bAAAAAaaaaack!!
Alright, musicmom. What would the morning be like without ground-up hominy?
Morning, musicmom!
:-D
morning, evan
Layne - they definitely brighten the day - especially with a cup of coffee. i don't get them often enough though
Go Grace, Go! :P
Go GRACE!
Are you the solitary grits appreciator in your household?
and to think, all this breakfast chatter started with our phantom words list...hehe
I *am* Layne. Very sad. I make wonderful cheese grits but am the only one who enjoys them
speaking of phantom words - mine is rhythm
cheese grits, mm? never had that - only the salt and butter version.
My phantom is slicers......
Cheese grits are the best way to go. Keep on offering them to your kids, though. There's always hope.
never had grits in my life...hehe
mine is thyme
movieman - take out the 'l' and you have a word....
Charm - just add a little shredded cheddar and a bit of garlic to the butter and salt variety
poor evanadine....
Evanadine - you have no idea what you are missing
My phantom words stem from the Qu at the top. I'm seeing leftover words from yesterday's puzzle. :P
hey. i'm back.... you still talking grits?
If you're making a whole pot of cheese grits (or any grits, really) and you beat an egg into it, it makes the texture smooth and silky.
musicmom - I may have to try that next time - being the solo grits eater in my house as well.
considering its something that can be combined with cheese, youd think i woulda had some by now!! so what do they taste like??
dorens, hi
evanadine...temptress!-hi annie
wow, I am learning the finer points of grits this morning!
re7/32 anyone?
hola
evandine, grits are right up there with the other heavenly carbs that are relatively bland but mix well with other flavors -- like mashed potatoes and rice.
hola, masfalda
grace == to do your sm5/12 over again. past tense for an RE9
Hola, masfalda!
doh! I though I had that already!
I think grits and couscous have similar texture
strange that Sarah likes couscous but won't eat girts
farina has the same texture as grits too
What is farina?
i think ive only even had couscous once ot twice...hehe
is abe on:)?
Evanadine - if it has carbs I eat it:-=)
this is amazing... i think i mentioned grits 20 minutes ago, and I will weigh in now...don't like them...don't like any hot cereal
its a cereal very close to the taste of grits. very hard to get grits here but when I see on a menu I always order it. diner grits are the best. yummy
now there's grist for your mill
one of nine???
please
for cryin out loud... I can't find the first se4!!
im not so much a carb addict, as a cheese addict...so if cheese can go on it or in it, im a fan. plus, i like foods if they have a nice texture...
cheese grits with a little crispy bacon or pancetta are wonderful...
sorry grace, don't have it
I'll have to look for some farina, and give it a try.
evandine, a lot of people complain about the texture of grits. But I've found that they have always been served grits without butter, egg, cheese, or other yummy additives.
I don't have it either --- I've been too busy talking about breakfast to actually enter words. Shhheeesh you would think this is a word game or something<G>
Grace, is that the one that's se + another word for myself?
se**noid?
nope got that one...
oops, I think someone's going to correct me on that one!
se+ present tense form of to be
Sorry, Grace. That's the only SE I have so far. Just started a bit ago.
Ah.... fireworks! it's an se4 abbr for units of time...
Congrats!
BRAVO GRACE
yay
thx alll...clues before I go?
dorens -- recess
congrats, grace!!!! just started
DE 6/21? or 8/45 (not sweet)
quite recessed there
de8/45-- one who hates.
de6/21 = sahara?
Charm....I have that one....there is another DE 6/21
kkiln. hate
sorry, the only other I have is to dislike.
They are a combo....thanks Grace, Dorens and Charm...
evanadine.....esthetic
ce7?
ce 7--- ce****ial bodies are the planets?
make it plural for a CE8 :)
thanks, dorens and evanadine.
yw
dorens...is that a real word? i thought it was Aesthetic :)
and what does it matter if it's a real word? it isn't HERE
struggling with the es 8 here
es8 = es + what you write at the end of your master/ph.d
oh, and it's a pl of that doc at the end of the masters/phd
Afternoon All, hows things ? Long time no babble for me !! Feels like I have been away forever. Hope all are well today.
thanks charm...had the th part
figured that
Hello Aussie - How is that sweet baby?
aussieme, your little girl is sooo adorable!
Ty all, she is just as cute as a button now. Starting to roll over on her own, and smiling and cooing at me. Only 6 weeks old too !!
yes, what a great picture
That is so cool . I wish you were closer - I would love to hold her.
Well, she is having a cyber-hug from you, hows that MM xx
Hello Aussie - Georgia looks like a perfect cupie doll - congrats

thanks, mm -- I'll plunge in
dont have either G word yet...hints?
yup---gi + past tense
I don't have them
gi4/7, gi4/6 - think Scottish for give/gave
doh, nevermind! in typical ME fashion, i find them after i say i need help!
Hello all... any clues for the tm word?
thanks dorens
then make that present
thank you my g is grey
Eiter this grid is too hard or I am too tired - I think the latter - see you all later, I'm off to sleep
good night lynxxx
dorens -- regret
egret for that matter---i'm still mad aboput william blake...tyger
burning bright? ;)
that's it...and it works
Looked back through the log, and I can't fathom out the cluez for the es8 or the ce7......further cluez required.....
Movie man es+Martin Luther's 95 th6
es8 - add the plural dissertation (th6/21)
ce 7-----the planets are ce****ial bodies....take it from there
ce7 is a musical instrument like a harpsichord, it is also the name of Babar's wife
ce7 is a keyboard instrument that makes heavenly bell sounds.
ce7/32 - a woman's name with a heavenly sound
Movieman = the ce7 is a girl's name (I usually think of Sister Ce*****)
ce is also a woman's name
drop the ial and the last letter and add the second vowel...then plurallise
oh right...movie man. CE***** HOLMES
but only if you like OLD movies
You could have also linked it with the famous ghost ship, the Mary Ce*****.....
Did you get the es8, movieman?
Yep, got 'em both......
Dorens, is that little Phoebe? she is so beautiful!!!1
yes thanksannie, that is she....one week ago
she is an old lady of one week. i wish her a happy and healthy life full of great surprises
For an extra clue for the ce7, you could have also linked it with the famous ghost ship, the Mary Ce*****.....
Love, LOV E that tm word!! Would anyone care to share their favorite example of it?
Yes please. I'd love an example of the tm word. Maybe it'll clue me in to what it is. :)
I love the tm word too!!!! Learned it here
this puzzle is abso-freaking-crazy
A whole nother word to learn!
there is no-stinking-way all these words are here.
tm = tuna melt.......would love one right about now
Hee!!
I gave an example earlier in the log. I think it was "infreakingcredible." Or, for an Aussie, absobloodylutely. There's a commoner one, of course, but in deference to the young uns here, I'll let you think it up yourselves.
WordsRock - the word is formed by em plus the ending of the plural dissertations, or the plural of es.
tm plus the ending, my mistake.
Hi hi all
Hi, Heygan.
Ah! Thanks. :)
how are ya guys ? ^^
example of its usage (am back) tm****? oh bugger I meant th****. oh bugger I nearly said a word
Okay I need to go to do some work. I'll be back later.
bye, mm
G Ming, all! How's the pgrid>
It's a fun grid today.
Yes, it appears to be!
Wikipedia offers this example: La-dee-freakin'-dah.
It reminds me of someone.
The grid does, Haz?
No, not the grid.
hi katrine and haz
Hello Annie.
The tm****?
Hi all
am late today
Hi hi
does anyone have the tm word yet? not asking for a clue yet ....just curious
The example of the tm that you gave.
hi kallia
fireworks. any clues before I head to the md with the sick Monster Baby?
Kallia, you'll get caught up in no time.
layne, tm + plural of the plural
congrats Charm!!
Ahh. They said someone on Saturday Night Live had used that one often.
yay charm!
Kallia > Late ??? Maybe maybe not, all's about perception and first, from where you are ^^
that a promise Haz )
Well, a distinct possibility, Kallia!
well late for me...usually morning when I am around
bye all. enjoy the grid.
my bad found only 12 words and already blocked Y_Y
c ya Charm
bye charm
it doesn't seem too bad I must say
Bye Charm.
Fiorst time I saw so much 'S' it's kinda hard to find words for me :s
es8/45?
es + plural of the paper you write to get your doctorate.
be back later
sry since I've tried this game I still don't get the meaning of 8/45
thanks layne
later Annie
YW.
Heygan, click on the "help" button above the chatterbox. It explains the scoring there.
es8/45 - has 8 letters and yields a score of 45 points. Take the time to read Angelsong's babble page under Friends of Babble at the bottom of the page, and you will find lots of info there.
K thanks ^^
Could anyone help me with one of the y's? I have 2 versions of the same word, but am missing the 3rd. Thanks.
i have plural agreement
Yes, and past tense also, pabtrek. It's the other I need. TY.
Ahh, found it. Does anyone want a clue?
okay, thanks needed that one, what about to give way without the i
Just got it, pabtrek, and thanks again!
yw
Well, I got some work to do so C ya all later ^^
Adios, Heygan.
good morning, great icon chch!
hi all - what's today's theme? : )
timepieces
ty jane...
Haz you were right....119 on first work through
I had every confidence in you Kallia!
:)
morning all - I can't focus at work so I thought a little babble might help...
HELLO...Hello...hello Well - just an echo - everyone must have fallen into the babble chasm. *checks quickly for the presence of the word 'chasm'*
wow, it's really quiet in here!
Heya Fiz ..
Phew! I thought you'd all been abducted by aliens or something!
lol, no, just lost in the grid
the last st6/18 is a mystery to me, could I get a clue?
Well, I thought I'd grab a few minutes of babbling and chatting - but babbling alone is always faster if your goal is to get all the words...

Thnx Fiz

the only thing with the swiffer is the cats keep getting stuck to it.

Sometimes I think vacuuming the cats directly would cut down on housework.
Of course, I prefer to cut down on house work by just not doing it....
lol The, if you could get near them with vac
my cats would never recover from the trauma - never.
One of mine is pretty weird anyway - so couldn't do much worse.
I'd get the worst of that battle
Every once in a while, I mildly sedate my Sophie. Only cat I've met who is an insomniac.
ow ow ow, stop talking cats, you're making me miss mine too much
Aww, hurshy....
the royal family will be overjoyed to see you again. It has been my observation that cats have a poor sense of time passage.
well they have got used to my friend who is staying there and taking care of them, so marty's been getting his necessary love. he thinks he needs love more than food.
Good moprning/afternoon/evening! I have ~~~~~fireworks~~~~~~!!!!!!
congrats katrine
TY, Hurshy!
I got an 8/55 starts with he... yah for me.
my Sophie too. Well done Katrine!
Hey lync, got a clue for me on that one?
Ty, Mab!
it it oast tense of another word
past tense*
What a fun puzzle! But I found it a work-out for my left fingers on the keyboard!
Well let me give that a little thought. Perhaps I can come up with the present tense first. :)
6/24 he
he clue, word think of what soldiers wear
Got it! Thanks for the clue, lync :)
Roman soldiers that is
or football players
or combat ones too
Sometimes I wear one on my bike.
YW Words...
bikes don't wear headgear, silly
Maybe your bike doesn't :)
well, a few ostrich plumes...
My bike wears one all the time - flat tire, so it sits on the seat...
i wast walking down the street yesterday and a girl went by on a bike and a toothbrush she'd just bought fell out of the bag on the back and i tried to catch her attention but i couldn't.
there's an awful lot of bikes here.
what an amusing anecdote. You will some day relate it to your grandchildren.
:)
ok ok so my anecdotes are boring
Are you in Amsterdam?
That reminds me of a funny story. They have a he6/24 law for motorcycles in Illinois- my cousin thought he ws obeying the law by wearing his he 6/24 on his knee- he got pulled over by a cop, and got a ticket for not wearing it on his head. Then he got into an accident- and trashed his knee!
yeppers
it was nice of you to try to return the toothbrush.
i keep singing "even old new york, was once new amsterdam"
So what did you do with the toothbrush, hurshy?
i didn't do anything with the toothbrush. i just left it there on the ground.
tell, tell, hurshy!
"...thus ruining the very pants i was about to return!"
I'm evil. Just ignore me.
la forza del destino!
Did ANYONE see my story???? I feel invisible!
we were so stunned by the irony we knew not what to say, katrine
gah... only a few more words.. anyone got the re.9,66?
katrine, I think that's the very definition of tragicomedy!
re9 - did something to iron, again
I saw it. ironic. la forza del destino!
past tense of re 7/32
hey there misu, have you got a twin called tira? har har har
Ty. I sometimes comehere and y'all just don't seem to see me.
yay, ta!
Hurshy, do you have a twin called bar?
everyone's comments go unreplied at times, it's the nature of the beast, katrine...it doesn't mean anything
oooooo torgone good one
how did you know tor?
wow very ironic katrine!.....dives back into grid
mebbe hurshy has a bro named squirt
ty, hurshy....
oh, Katrine, no.... I think that the log moves so fast on this new site that it is easy to miss people if you're not watching carefully.
or a sister named park?
hurshy and squirt walk into a bar
Hi everyone! does anyone remember doogle? He babbled mostly in the fall of last year.
*deutsch zooms into the log*
ya, he doesn't seem to be around lately.....
yes....
nothing horrible happend to him, did it?
He was married Sunday in a most beautiful location. she was stunning and he was dapper in his tails.
they are honeymooning in Bar Harbor and Nova Scotia.
mab - you gotta try not to let your mind work that way
Oh good.
why, she was right.......
Now I was thinking that perhaps he dropped a toothbrush while biking through Amsterdam....
do you know doogle, deutsch?
oh bj!
no, no, Fiz, no!
it would have to be his bride that dropped it... that would be SO funny though
Yes, mab. he works with a friend of mine.
snicker....
ah. well, that's lovely.
brandy jack, I'll pass on your thoughts LOL
we've not seen you for ages, deutsch.
Mab, it's been a while, yes. I start a new job in the Fall. I'll be employed at the same place as Doogle, actually. So I've been getting things ready there.
doogle should work at google
LOL, hurshy!
no more teaching police cadets?
need help with is4, please
i want to teach police cadets!
But what would you teach them, hurshy?
Mab, I'm trying to work them in. I have a new class starting in July.
hello all
small body of land in the sea, dorens.
hi kalea
silly me...put it in the wront spot, thanks mab
how is everybody today?
i would teach them math or something.
Hurshy, you would love working with the cadets. They stand when you enter the room, call you ma'am and stand to when you leave a room. And you can make them do push ups.
Hi Kalea
hi kalea
i could make the boys i taught do push ups if i wanted, i think, if it had ever occurred to me
men should always stand when a women gets up.
Oh, that. I was thinking you could teach them small arms handling or tailing or something.
only i can't do even one push up so i probably wouldn't
good heavens mab, why? that would make me feel so conspicuous, if they did that.
but i don't know anything about small arms handling or tailing
when you are out for a meal, does your husband not at least begin to get up when you do?
Oh, fine, hurshy; go ahead and just let reality take all the fun out of everything!
The cadets are taught sociology, Maryland and baltimore law, police procedures, evasive driving, shooting, stuff like that.
you know, the half stand
reality? what's that?
unless you mean how to handle the small arms of a cat when you clip its claws, or petting the tail
Desperately need cluez for the 'p', I only have the pe4/5 (animal skin)........
i dunno mab, i think we just get up at the same time.
hi deutsch, remember me from your notetaking class in may (CCG Momentum) I was graceica :o)
Or when Georgette would say please, don't get up, then all the men would stand up.
movieman, there's some muscles
have been hooked on this game eversince
and there's a soccer player
hi BJ! and movieman...
"Drop and give me the square root of 400, maggot!!"
if i just get up to go to the ladies' room... i don't think he does anything... LOL tor!
Ronnielee, yes! How have you been?
ROFL torgone!
There's a pe6 and 7 combo, meaning hte decorative thingy at the top of the window, and rhyming with what bicyclists wear on their heads.
not bad just saw your note about starting another job, will u still work at the college ?
ty Vicuna I'm working on the pe's now.
Ronnielee, I won't be able to, I'm afraid.
I'm having to give up some good people, but this is a good opportunity for me.
sorry to here that but we can still chat on this site
what is your new job like, deutsch?
You bet, ronnielee!
i saw our favorite word on this grid the other day PITA :o)
My new job is the ESL coordinator and teacher at a conservatory.
LOL ronnie!
sounds great!
plants need an ESL coordinator?
Well, English is hardly their first language, hurshy!
best of luck to u at the new job, will continue to look for you on this site, i am so addicted to this site now it consumes my evenings
If they are going to speak english, yes.
Music conservatory. They have about 40 percent international students
i have met a great number of clue helpers & people on here though
This site is addicting, ronnielee. You're right about the people, too!
I've become totally consumed with Babble. And I only started last week! lol
it also is helping my son who is going into the 2nd grade, he helps me in the evenings & also helps me teach his spelling
Pretty kitty, Ciocia. ronnie, I'm glad it's helping with this spelling. It helps me, too!
Hi again folks. Lessie how we do. One more word to the 100, then I can go to the list...
If the chest muscle is a word than so should "delts"!
it's even at times teaching me different words, some are a little risque at times
what a great job, deutsch. reminds me of the possibilities if I go into teaching. congratulations :)
There are so many "alternate" spellings in Enable, that I'm not sure it's a reliable teacher!
delt
th 4/5? it's driving me crazy
Hi Mattie! Thanks, mab.
well guess it's time to get back to work deutsch will keep a look out for you on the site & good luck to you
th...........to toss without the last letter
thanks ronnielee, chat with you later.
Dorens: what you would do to hurl a baseball but drop the last consonant
thanks kalea
th4/5, for example! It's a cheapo spelling of a preposition as in "all th-- the nite"
yw
gotta go fix a late lunch. See you all in a bit.
hmmm. I keep trying to enter "sessile"
Bon appetite.
bye Deutsch
bye Deutsch
bye deutsch
By Deutsch
That's my 100 - my 15 year old daughter's room is me7/12 than mine - I can go to the list now - yay!
Howdy all. Home from a drizzly walk to and from the library. Hannah is set up with her books and I can play for a while.
hello musicmom
hi musicmom! haven't seen you since music camp finished... may I boast?
BY ALL MEANS stid! Tell me!!!1
haha! just passed halfway.
Bravo!!!
I have 61 left. I was here early this morning
okay -- well, Grant had been taking violin lessons from a teacher at his school (offered them to any kids who wanted before school twice a week) all year long. Enjoyed it but didn't seem to be really doing what he loved.
and...
where is Enable?
At music camp, he took beginning strings and beginning band. In the strings class, he improved so much that last night he was playing music from Lord of the Rings... BY EAR!
and in beginning band, he learned to play the trombone... and can also play by ear on that now...
WHOOOHOOO! That is terrific stid. Playing by ear is a real talent.
AND two days ago at my mother's house he sat down and spontaneously started playing the piano _sightreading_
gotta go for a sec. guest has arrived.
I have developed my ear more since teaching Kindermusik but it is great when kids can - they don't know it is supposed to be hard<G>
back.
welcome
wb stid
Yes, the boys have nearly perfect pitch, so it is nice when they play -- they self-correct! although, kids' ears seem to be able to handle more LOUD sounds than mine.
Definitely they can handle loud:-)) I was at a continuing ed workshop for KM all weekend. Very satisfying.
I saw a kindermusic sign on a front lawn in town the other day. Didn't realize it was such a big organization!
Very large - international. It has been in existence for 25+years.
hi stid and musicmom! just here for a sec
How nice to be part of something like that! I think the arts are vastly underrated -- and wish more was done to get kids excited about music and other pursuits
hi feather! did you ever get the paint off daniel's leg?
lol, yeah, that came right off
i however still have random strands of hair with paint on them
I agree stid. That's why I really believe in what I do. By teaching children from birth you give them a strong intro to a variety of styles of music
That will last for a while featherbee. I think I was stil finding speckles of paint in my hair two weeks later.
green or beige, feather? LOL (seeing a picture of a parrot in my mind)
the beige thankfully!
my kids didn't have a choice... I sing constantly! and their father listens to the radio (usually jazz or classical) when he is home.
want to know something sweet? i get applause from daniel when i finish singing a lullaby to him!
Yep our kids either. Sarah took Suzuki violin at age 3 and Hannah was a Kindermusik baby.
That is terrific feather!
hee, i love it
Keep singing singing singing!!!!!
that is darling, feather! I miss those days...
we didn't have the money for Suzuki violin when Grant was little. though I know he would have loved it. He's always gravitated toward fiddle music.
help with the pe 6/24? doesn't matter which one
We were fortunate. Sarah had a scholarship because Greg teaches in the same community music school.
a travelling salesman minus one d
pe 6/24 is just the same as an HE word, then plural for a 7

eg+present tense form of to be
eg4/6 - means a shield or protection, like what hens lay, but replace secong consonant with a vowel...
Oops! had that one. meant eg 6/24. sorry
(That's second consonant, and musicmom's is more elegant anyway!)
plural of the eg4
Ciocia, that's the pl, just stretch it out with as many letters as it takes!
LOL vicuna -- elegant is not a word usually used with music mom:-)
Well, take it where you can get it then, musicmom! :)
Duh! ty again. I think I'm getting bleary eyed. lol

some very strange plurals and a few past tense - not too too bad
fishes rolling all over the floor, laughing their heads off!
Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads!
lol vicuna
okay I'll try then. I ran out of time last night with less than 25 left. I just couldn't stay awake to finish in the last hour!
could anyone please help me with the last de6.21?
go Nef go!
de 6/21: to absolutely hate something.
just watch out for the flying fish nef
then "one who" hates something for the de 8
thank you so much
Well, Nef, when it comes right down to it, it's a game and it's supposed to be fun, so when it isn't fun any more, there's no shame in stopping!
de 6/21 dislike
it was just staring me in the face!
don't you just de 6/21 when words do that birds?
10 8 letter words? And 1 9 letter words?
those are the easy ones nef :)
how are u today stid
I am well oggy! how are you both doing?
were fine thanks
I gotta find out about the "fish" jokes.
Judy -- "fish" are the words that could have been obvious if our eyes were open... like "tuna" sandwiches. about as easy as they come.
ty sooo much stid. Been wondering about that for a few days now!
hows everyone doing on the grid today
Vicuna, I wanted to finish the grid last night; but was too tired to do so. I'm very competitive with myself that way
okay, my unopen eyes cannot find the ME 6/21 after the 6/24...
plural stid
FISH! (again) *ducks*
I know the feeling, Nef, and I too have stayed up later than I should in pursuit of the final words. But try to shake it off!
lol
No no, stidmama, ducks are NOT fish!
ROFLMAO!
duh! missed that too stid. Fish for me!
*tosses can of tuna at Judy*
how about the me 7/32, pls
that might hurt!
more of the me 4/5
me7/32 - even more so
it's okay I have an he 6/24 on! lol
lol
Vivuna, do you mean shake off the sleep or shake off the competitiveness? I have actually been so sleepy that I have fallen out of my chair here trying to finish a grid
good planning, Judy!
Stuck on SH 6/27 -- the first one...may have someting to do with opp of long.
add the sometimes vowel
sh6/27 - what you might call someone who is stature challenged
o/`o/`Fish heads! Fish heads! Eat 'em up, Yum!"
i'll be humming fish heads for the rest of the day now
Nef, I meant the competetiveness... But whatever works for you!
OH No!!! Not another Q day
q is not in use today
don't worry lady, I don't think it's used at all today!
Actually, ladyn, it isn't a Q day at all!
no q words though
oh thank goodness

I love my home! I love my 100Mbps instead of 14.4 Kbps too!
nrk, i don't know how good or bad they are, but some people get steroid drops after lasik to help heal faster.

Wow, great clue Bambam. I got that E word.

hey boa! when did you go pro?
:)
I think a couple of weeks ago. I figured why not.
Bambam, do you know AZ? I was in Singapore summer of '97 for two weeks. Very interesting place. I think about it all the time.
well welcome to the Pros boa! i guess it's been that long since i've been on the same time as you.
i was here when you were here! yeah i been to the canyon and scottsdale playing golf, totally awesome place -- if it suits in 15 yrs or so i'll retire there
FranMag, I was just going to ask you what time is it in Hawaii? How many hours ahead of Mountain time are you?
it's 6:30 pm here boa.
i'm a big fan of dry heat... which could have something to do with 15 years of my life in SE Asia where it is ALWAYS hot n humid!
STID- if you're there - I just phoned hetty's hubby but got the machine. Will try again tomorrow.
Bambam, well, I guess if you can endure the same topical weather everyday in Singapore, you can certainly get thru the monsoons here.
thanks Jill -- I don't want to fuss, but personally I don't like being in hospitals...
I just got back, but need to go help do the dishes. Tom is getting dishpan hands... the least I can do is dry things!
back soon.
my only memory of arizona was arriving in phoenix on July 2nd when i was 6 and getting slammed by a wall of heat!! have some good friends that live there and went to school there. they seem to like it.
FranMag, oh you are only 3 hours behind (I meant to write behind before) the mainland.
yeah Sydney has perfect weather really (where i'm from) .... but it's a big city now, too expensive to retire there if you're not working.... much like NYC or LA or any other major world city
yes boa! we're not that far.
the better thing about the states is there are lots of medium sized cities where you can still get what you want but it's cheap..... in australia if you're not in sydney or melbourne (and some would argue perth n brisbane) you are nowhere
FranMag, ya wall of heat is what I say to folks who have never been here before and arrive for the first time in summer.
se 5/12 ?
my friend that just visited me is going to do a half marathon there in January. she said it's nice that time of year.
FranMag, my dad's family was stationed in Hawaii in the late 60's, and my dad went to Radfore High. Its only place I really know of there.
euterpe, plural of se4/5 (se + you and **)
Thanks Fran!
se + oneself, plural

Sleepy, jemma! Stayed up too late last night! I suppose you're all bright-eyed in the morning now - or what time is it for you?
euterpe, an old way to say salesman, only one D though
FranMag, get out! Guam? There is a very good chance that I am going there in June of '07! My friends's dad is going to be stationed there, and I'm going to visit.
pe 6,24 rhymes with head protection, he 6, 24

in the meantime boa, check out www.guamdiner.com, i helped start the website, it has great info on restaurants and things going on around town, mostly food-related though.
