I'm in New Zealand.
no work 2day i did tell u larlielou
angh been to oz
You have been to oz? And not NZ!!! Bit like me going to England not Wales.
i no ,family in mel
Nice place. Mel. Been there a couple of times, and Sydney - usually avoid that place. When to Gold Coast last year. NZers holiday there as it's cheaper than holidays in NZ!
i will be in oz for new year love sydney harbour
The harbour is the best place in Sydney. And the Rocks. Hmmm Sydney's not so bad LOL. A cruise on the harbour is well worth while.
what ,s the gold coast like never beenthere
awful - too commercial - go up further north - Cairns etc.
PS I'm from Melbourne
been in bayswater for new year
Bayswater nr Melbourne? Most of my family is up that way - I'm the only one who moved in closer to the city/Melboure.
Gold Coast was commercial - but I have 5 yr and 8 yr old sons! Sunshine Coast was beautiful (and home of Australia Zoo)!
All those theme parks - I understand!
lynxxx I think Melbourne is the place to visit in Aus. Love the place.
even Cairns and Port Douglas are too commercial - go to Cooktown!
TY It is a lovely town - I notice NZers feel at home here so it is probably a lot like NZ to live in (I've only been to NZ once)
i love shopping in Melbourne!
lots of family between rowvile and bays , i think i still will like to see gold coast.
Yes, it's much like here. Oh yes, and the shopping. And the restaurants.
lol i live in Adelaide :D
What's it like there aleksia? Never been.
any of you rver been to Michigan, its a beautiful place.
Dinner for me - see u later
Oh sorry hodag, we were doing a southern hemi thing and leaving you out. No not Michigan. Only places I've been are the west coast and Boston.
Yeah its good
aleksia only been to the airport looks very flat
Yes i agree
hodag are you in Michigan as well? I live in NOrthville, halfway between Ann Arbor and Detroit.
We don,t have any huge mountins but, lots and lots of hills and lakes.
WE have several Michiganders in Babbleland, Bugzy is in Warren, Ypsigirl is in Ypsilanti.
In Mi you are never more than 8 miles from a body of water, and we have the longest coastline of the contiguous 48 states
cool, inge Im north of Ann Arbor.
Now in NZ you could probably drive from one end to the other in under 24 hours (pending on ferry in the middle). And some say that we have every natural scenery thing here.
is there any official desert in NZ?
OK - probably not. Not with sand anyway. But there is nasty land around the National Park in the North Island - which has what is called the Desert Road running through it. LOL. But Aus next door has quite a bit.
Oh you would know that anyway Atalante.
Isn't erse a word?
Good morning everyone! Hey, we've had a font change, nu?
Hi Eva
Angb, only with an l at the end.
Hi Eva
Sorry, I meant s
Thnx inge
just wondered, cos deserts dont have to be big and sandy - and NZ really does have pretty much everything!
I wonder that the technical definition of a desert is?
am I the only one with the differnt font?
I haven't noticed a change Eva
*goes to look*
okay, I must have changed my default settings somehow
Seems that you have to have less than 25 cm of rain. Hmm think we would probably miss out.

Hi Frances When are you going to put up one of your wonderful creations as an icon again?
has there been a definitions-type clue for the Li7?
no, krys but there is a good clue out there if you need it
I'll scan back - thanks.
li7 is a type of currency.
who like big brother here
Krys, I am relatively new at this, how do you scan back?
Hi FMitch I'll see what I can sort out. I was rather taken with this one so thought I'd leave it for a while - magic mushrooms might help with the creative juices!!!
LOL I know what you mean!
button - the icon that looks like a notepad to the right of the "my friends" bitton
just got the li7. those lw's are currency as well, I believe... weird words
Thanks, Krys!
who here is gay
me
nothat was my brothers mate

i could use some C-help... ive got the C7, its C6, and the cherry C6... could use help with the other 3...
sky in french, and its plural...
also a sky-blue color in english i believe
or if desperate a clue I saw this morning for the is5 - something a referee blows but knock off the 1st 2 letters
an old way of say 'sure'
the last c6 you are missing is an archaic word meaning "surely"
Hello, just wanted to add my vote for Lucius! Hmm...I might actually finish this one today!
that's a ce6/21, btw
Hey all you writing experts out there, I've got a question. I'm editing a text, and this sentence doesn't sound right to me: Our goal is to orchestrate the requirements for an outstanding golf course with the environment for a unique residential/resort community. Orchestrate requirements with the environment? Can you orchestrate x with y? What about 'merge' instead?
that's odd, it only shows up id you click on my icon.
thanks krys and charm!
orchestrate sounds odd, there, i agree
amanda - how about 'harmonize' or a synonym?
harmonize?
within not with but that is really convoluted
how about blend?
ooooo thanks! I knew this was the right place to ask!
needs rewriting not rewordking
Tor, meaning you want the two elements to coexist without clashing?
amandacath: dictionary.com suggest arrange, blend, coordinate, harmonize, integrate, synthesize, unify as synonyms for orchestrate, but I think it needs at least a comma in there somewhere
needs a breath
amanda: in plain english what are they trying to do/say?
amandacath what up you ok
i just realized i misread it the first time - i thought the "with the environment" belonged to the golf course
how about "balance"? Our goal is to balance the requirements for a golf course with the needs of the surrounding environement" or something
That seems to be the intent, charm ..
ah, very nice, Krys
I like word's suggestion of blend or Krys's balance
Yes, Tor, that seems to be the intent. They're just having trouble expressing it. Too many words, I think!
now if only I could spell!
who has had fireworks any one
Sometimes when I'm stuck on a paragraph I will ask for input and almost immediately see where I was going wrong, Krys... I like "balance" much better, because that keeps it between the golf course and the environment. Now you just have to weave the (apparent?) residential community that's planned too. As it reads, the focus is on the golf course and the environment.
TO - I'm not exactly sure, to be honest. I think it means: when designing the course/community they use the environment that is already there instead of bulldozing everything away and starting from scratch.
studying for SATs as an adult turns out to be helpful :)
amandacath what up ya ok
if you wanted to get fancy, you could say something about working in symbiosis with the environment when designing a golf course
That's good too, Krys... say don't forget the Perrine Bridge on your travels -- you will cross it as you enter Twin Falls, Idaho, and it's the number one bridge for BASE jumping. World record set here recently.
Oh, and the other claim to fame is that nearby the Perrine Bridge is where Evil Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon on his motorcycle.
hows about something more like this: "Our goal is to balance the requirements of an outstanding golf course with the need to sustain the environment; such a blend will result in a unique residential/resort community."
wow, that's a beautiful bridge! The trip was put termporarily on hold because my cat got sick, so I cam include Twin Falls when I redesign. My husband just got assigned a new sales region that includes Idaho, so I'll have more opportunity. Thanks ch1212!
ooh, semicolons! *applauds*
applause for evanadine -- much better! much clearer!
clap*clap*clap*clap. well done.
I'm off to work -- happy hunting all!
Thanks so much guys - I'm sure I'll be back soon with another convoluted sentence.
have a good day, ch

wheee, fireworks
yay, Misu Hello, FMitch.
Charm Hi!
now bed calls 8-) nite all, happy babbling

Its so easy when you get a nudge in the right place. Perhaps if I wasn't trying to play on-line scrabble at the same time I might do better at Babble. Many thanks FMitch & Charm
lol yw verna
bye all. have fun babbling.
bye charm!
See you next time Charm.
Can anyone help with the two lw words?
SB - trust in babble and tpye regardless of if you think the word is there or not. lw + 2 vowels and bear in mind the 5 is a pl so that give you direction.

Bye M3
later stid
star WARS is a LONG TIME AGO in a galaxy FAR FAR AWAY. star TREK is in the FUTURE in OUR galaxy. not to mention that in star wars you have a tiny rebel band against a huge evil empire, very different from the cold war feeling of original trek.
In my extremely humble opinion, a greenhouse IS a church! :-)
see ya stid! i'm down to 32...perhaps a race later, if we time it right?
you bet, feather! *fades out*

sydnie, scroll down to the bottom of this screen, you'll find a list of "Friends of Babble" click on Lickety's Babble Clues" there you'll find the first 2 letters of all the words you need
sydnie, look hard at the grid, there are lenty of four letter words to find, starting with wi,fi,ne,te,si ,ri. you have to work on them yourself, you can't expect everyone to do the work for you.

thanks jen! took a bit to get just the right one. and it's gearing up to be HOT here too.
-ok sydnie, something wrong there, no words 16 letters long
the 16 is the point count
sorry i typed it wrong
maybe it's the fl5/16 you're after?
very appropos . . . I'm rereading The Half-Blood Prince right now
yeah i think so
ok. last stupid 3. is 5/10, li7/28 and li5/10 immediately after. Anyone??? I'm blind and monkey typing is going nowhere!
li 7 = li + se 5/10
ok, fl5/16 could be the grocery store ads that come in the daily paper
l + is 4/4
or the phonetical spelling of taking a fl on a plane
for is 5/10, same letters as the first 5/10, just mix the last three letters
oh ok got it thanks
then the next word is just this one pluralized
hope that helps, kc :)
YES! thank you!!!
always check to see if words can be pluralized
yeah i have thanks x x x x
so when you finish with the pro, does it do something nifty, or just yay, I'm done???
pluralized, er'd ed'd ist, est etc.

WTG lmj

Ex W, isn't Toronto in the middle of Canada? Which other side do you mean? Or do you mean hte other side of the "pond?"
the other li6's have to do with raising up
Well I never, who woulda though that wa was a word. Good one - I'll use it next time the grandkids visit...
Well, it's nowhere near Vancouver is it?!
I have 3 li6 words, one related to hearing and two related to raising, what am I missing?
sam - are you a student of rolins
It's closer to Vancouver than it is to France, I guess! It's all a matter of perspective.
Reminds me of the people who live in Montana, and they think Wisconsin is "Back East"
It's back east if you've never been east of Wyoming!
harpjane, there's one more -- change the last letter of the hearing one
dono who rolins, sydnie. long past student years
harp - take the 6/18 you have and change the last letter
ExWren I'm with you regarding your icon. I haven't got today's "re" wprds yet. I see you're in Basingstoke - will be flying into London in a week or so's time. Looking forward to it.

ladynoire three of them sound like receptacle(s) for cremains
Okay, first er is Bert's friend on Sesame St, minus the i, next one is pl that. Then subtract the second vowel for er #3, and finally er + abbreviation for street

Hi all, back from my hols. Missed my babble but enjoyed the sun!
We've just today cooled off, lbd
is it me or is todays grid tough?
hi snowyowl!
Hi Snowy!!
that's what i've heard on the news. i'm wearing a sweater while sitting here. a balmy 68 degrees!
Hi SnowyOwl. where did you go for holiday?
what's up with the WAs? how people from Lawn Guileland say "walls"?
NOPE, CHJ, I am NOT watching!!! <plugs ears to reduce temptations>
Another word I've NEVER heard, fiz
i'm from long island and i have no idea what that means :)
wa's are stupid head words for sure
Cathb & I + husbands & caths daughter went to sunny Majorca for two weeks. Its been a while since i chatted as I've had a very busy month. Its nice to see some familiar faces when you get home. Hiowever we left the suhn for a very wet welcome here! Torrential rain !
gotta love enable, i guess. i've heard of caterwaul, but never wa4/12....
OHH hahaha
wow snowy - sounds great!
fiz, that was excellent.
thx scv. i try.
snowy, that sounds lovely, the sun and the rain!
I'll take the rain, Snowy!
and.... fireworks!
Yay Fiz!!!
yay fiz!!!!!!!!!!!
whoo hoo fiz!
snowy, your trip sounds lovely.
Well -not very educational but VERY relaxing! Lots of lying on sunbeds & eating & drinking -just what we all needed! Poor Majorca could do with the rain we've been having here! My poor dughter has just returned from a Guide Camp .After 2 weeks of sun it has poured down here.! It's a pity we can't do something about evening out world temeratures more drastically. I'd share!
no kidding snowy - we're baking in Chicago
never could understand why there were no momtarts
gotta go deal with ex-work stuff --- bbl
good luck nrk!
lol byzantine
And in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul!
lol byzan!
share it with kent snowyowl?!!!
momtarts?
we'd take as much as possible here in the west!
The hot weather is great when you just have to lie in it with a pool or the sea nearby -it is impossible to work in & we have nowhere near the temperatures you have to endure.
anyone need clues?
sure.. wnat to figure out these last 42?
Me Fiz, as always
Lady...as in poptarts. lol
Working on the Li's
ahh, gotcah LBD
lol, thats funny
i definitely felt more confident early this morning when i started this. horrible.
but what you put in momtarts?
hit me lady! put these glasses on - you'll feel smarter right away.
they are on!
lady, how about chocolate milk in those momtarts?
We were in Oxfordshire a few weeks ago & it's baked dry there too! Wet Wales has its advantages it seems.
hmmm. well, let's stick to the clues, ok? what can i do for you?
or chocolate pudding, Nef?
Fiz, how about li6/30
Oooh great idea! :D
nevermind, got that one
mmmmmm. pudding. li6/30 is past tense of li4/7 to raise up
I used to go to N Wales and when I was a kid an old welsh lady said to me the reason the welsh have beautiful complections is that when you raise your face to the sun it burns you but when you raise your face to the rain it kisses you. All together now aaaaaah!!
chocolate anything would be a momtart!
how about li7/28?
or custard, Lbd
Darn! Hubby says I have to get off the computer and do something today. I have 81 words left; so BBL
What a wise woman! LOL My poor skin is missing the sun screen! I'm using moisturiser by the bucket load!
word for fib, slip in the word for mailed between the two vowels for li7
li7/28 first 3 letters of what we use to locate the words we're missing (or take to the grocery store to make sure we get everything) + en5/10 go in - last consonant
deeha....ahhhh!
bye nef - see you later, maybe.
bye Nef
thats a word?

ugh, now I'm looking for li5/10, the second one on the list
Oh, spare me Fiz ..... lol

Definately Deeha! I have no Welsh blood at all but was born & raised here. My family have English, Italian & Swedish blood but all ended up here a very long time ago. Feel more Welsh than anything else anyway!
yw, lady. let me know if you need any more.
working on the re's now Fiz
I think most of us Brits are a bit of a mixture. My husband swears he is ENGLISH but he had 4 irish grandparents. I have given up arguing with him!!!!
lady -all are re+3rd vowel
thanks
LOL! My father used to tell everyone he was a Scottish born, Italian blooded Welshman. Summed him up really - he had all the traits of all the countries !
moving on to the ri's
thunder storm is a total miss and still the cat hides
Fiz, any clues for ri6/27
hi The Fiz - i just read your profile - one day i recovered all my son's mismatched socks & put them in a box labelled "Socks WithOut Partners" - SWOP. We did silly skits of a SWOP meeting by putting socks on our hands. best line: "I'm looking for my sole mate!" - OK, not even worthy of YouTube - but hey, that's another sock joke!
Fiz how's your cat doing today?
lady, take the one above it and make its superlative
sorry, sorry - distracted for a moment - ri6/27 is the most common (ri4/7)
got it already Fiz, found it on my own ( for once) lol
cat's ok today - got an appointment for Thursday but they weren't too concerned - as long as it stays a 1-time deal. melon - you're a stitch! got any left? send 'em along....
looking for the si4/5 now
Must be the glasses, lady...
lol, maybe
got the si4/5 already
how's the fire, lbd? are you safe?
the others are really easy, they show up all the time
the fire is on the other side of the park. I'm not in its path unless the winds blow east to west and really hard!
Any hints for the sl5/10?
fibbers with the s on the wrong side!
more fox-like, lady - not the sexy kind.
a little more Fiz?
slinky?
your fox is sl5/10 than mine
one might be called sl* as a fox.
Oh can anyone help. I'm stumped on the final ce 6/21.
got it!
I've been spelling it wrong lol
lady, li5/10 switch the s to the front of the word
Ledge, like the breat mint but add a vowel
ahh brilliant! Thanks. Had the last 2 letters in the wrong order.
Ledge, old English for "for sure"
HI all, te5/12 please
gack, look at all the te words, I'm doomed
are the ce7,32 and the ce6 before it connected?
I know there are Janet Evanovich fans here. I just read my first one: Four to Score and really liked it
peri: adj. of singular of te 4/4
peri - after 9th. kaurie, yes.
Right after that I read "Beach House" by James Patterson> It was great, couldn't put it down.
Fiz and Ledge, thanks
HI Peri - she is a fun read isn't she! My husband has been trying to persuade me to start a James Patterson - maybe I'll have a look now.
Hi Peri! gotta go for a while, need to decide what to make for dinner! ergh
snowyowl. Read Beach House, the friend who gave it to me couldn't put it down either.
i love james patterson - just discovered him in an airport after a delay left me desperate for a new book.
TY Peri - he has a few here in the house it's bound to be amongst them somewhere, I'll look it out. He said I would enjoy them .
Anyone get the last te4/5?

Anyone help with li 7,28? Please.
help with an N - I have the one found in trees
li + se4/4+e
What's today's theme? Where will I find it on the page?
or li + se 5/10
li7 -first three letters of the note you make when you go shopping and 1st 4 letters of en5/10.
the other n is what use use when you go pond dipping
I HATE asking for a totally easy word my 11 year old would have found....
Thanks though snowy...
Snowy, that does not seem to work for me. I get not in Dictionary
sometimes the littlies are the hardest to find Cadfan. We spend so much time looking for the bigger words the small ones don't pop up so easily
Lync it does work, but perhaps my clue isn't clear. I haven't got the clue list so don't know if there is more than one en5/10. the one i used means - to go in
Snowy, of cousre it helps if I spell it right.
LOL Lync! Been there too!
I upgraded and Stidmatt thinks today's theme is Harry Potter.
stidgemore -sorry to be so long -the theme today is Harry Potter - the theme list is in Babblers profile & also was on Babblers Anonymous. Haven't been here for a fortnight so that might have changed.
stidgemere! sorry 'bout the spelling! A family that babbles together! Really good!
Thank you snowyowl. Time now to find more words. I'm a dabbler babbler.

hey everyone!
hey hel
o - i wasted so much time on sudoku today - i'm going to try & get a few words in & then go change my icon
hello everyone!
chj - hysterical!!!
fran - aghast, appalled - never read 1 book, not 1 movie??!?!?!?!
hey its the icon theif ;-)
not at all helen!
hi chj, you didn't have to change your icon, it's not like they were exactly the same.
helen..do you ever do the killer sudoku..i prefer them to the regular kind
i prefer to be one of a kind
the one today is a killer, other than that, i'm not sure what you mean
the killer sudoku doesnt give you any numbers..they have dotted lines connecting two or more squares and tell you what the total is for those squares and these can over lap the 9 squares fo a section
they have them in the london times which you can find on the internet
omg - chj - i pay good money for the blond hair, i am afraid that would be beyond my reach :) - not a huge fan of headaches
helen..do you have more fun?
you betcha!
but whats youre real color
? - not sure i want to know now, i've always ever had blond hair - yeah, uh, except the time i was insane & the woman next to me was getting her hair red & my hairdresser said 'oh, that would be a fun look for the holidays' & it was fun for all of 20 minutes & then i hated it for the next 6 weeks!
ok, made it to 90 - going to change my icon now
LOL helen k - i did red highlights and loved it.
so having your hair dyed blond can turn you stupid, you dont have to have naturally blond hair?
i like my hair purple
chj-my iq dropped a little with these highlights
our first veep with purple hair..if you exclude john adams
wait now...are we talking blonde????
currently, yes - but helen was talking red
my iq drops with every gray hair i get..im almost at imbecile level now
lol chj!
i dont care what color a woman's hair is as long as she has hair
in the right places that is
then i was going dumb in h.s. chj
prematurely gray, nut?
it's holding at stands out in florescent lighting now
Fireworks I'll be out at flip time.So eill j[lli and flosie.Bridge. pPlease tell Mayne Girl and Kahllua that we got Fireworks. ty
yay dilly!!!!

hey helen, there's another alan fan around.
hello!
hey nrk!
gasp! who fran?
hiya nrkii!!!
i saw your poster earlier, that sounds like a cool event you're going to.
how are you all tonight?
I'm so excited about it Fran!
i can't remember helen, it was last night (early this morning) and i can't recall.
i still can't believe you haven
t seen one movie!
i know helen, i'll get around to reading the books i'm sure.
nrk, is it far from where you live?
about an hour 15 to get into the city by car
worth the drive though, i'm jealous.
haha, hp day. it is. you have theme every day?
i don't think we'd ever get three authors of their stature at one time here in Hawaii!
I can't believe I just happened upon this event last night, and it's on my birthday, so I am so looking forward to it...
yes scv, they are posted in Babbler's profile. i'll get the link if you want it.
well then, it was meant for you to go!
hi Fran, nrkii, hk and others happy birthday nrkii!
thanks kristin!
nr - sounds very interesting, although i've found that sometimes writers aren't the best speakers - just sometimes
http://www.playbabble.com/view_profile /6719
hiya kris
hi kristin! good to see you!
helen, I'm sure King will be great, but have no clue about Rowling and Irving
scv, make sure you get the whole link, for some reason you have to cut and paste in pieces when you copy from the chat log.
i got it.
i've seen rowling on the harry potter movies -now there is one writer that has no shyness problems - that woman can TALK!!!
ohh, i see. thanks for the link.
i'm a huge harry potter fan.
Happy Birthday nrkii! CATHB & I had ours while we were in Majorca ( we were born 8 days apart).Took our b. cards with us -apartment looked very festive.
Happy Birthday nrkii! CATHB & I had ours while we were in Majorca ( we were born 8 days apart).Took our b. cards with us -apartment looked very festive.
oops! sorry
hiya snowy!
hi helen!
thanks snowy, and hb right back at ya
I'm back again. (DH will never know I really didn't *do* much when I was off of the computer!) I did make supper though and he saw me putzing around the house! :D
wb nef
thanks Nrkii
LOL Nef! I had a friend whose mother used to spray furniture polish into the air just as her husbands car drew up on the drive. He told everyone what an excellent housewife she was!
Hmmmm. I still have to find 81 words yet. I was hoping that they would find themselves! ;)
im down to 41 but i don't think ill be finding anymore
a shame..this looked easy enough this morning when i started.
sorry - had a phone call
well scv; let's both try to find 10 words in the next 15-20 minutes, okay?
haha, thats very ambitious
snowy, I'm not quite *that* devious ....yet! :)
well, for me it is. im having difficulty finding 1 or 2 in 15 minutes at this point
scv, I know; I like to set my goals high! :)
hints for either of you?
are you using lickety's list yet? I haven't opened it yet, but I'm about ready too
geez - grinding halt 26 left
then i'm with ya, nef
come on scv! you can do it! I have 48 left here
i'm not sure i know the lingo to ask for hints so im just working things out here
scv, are you using lickety's help list?
okay, down at the bottom of the page on the left is a list of friendly sites. Lickety has a site that gives the 1st 2 letters and then the numbers -lets' say sa 4/6
the 4 is the number of letters and the 6 is the point count.
well i wanted to try without help, but a little while ago i realized it wasn't possible. so i just started to use it, nrkii
scv, it's just that the list is what makes it easier to ask for clues, if you need to
Great! Now I'll start using it too
oh nrkii ! Is today better?
hi all -- I am under the weather a bit. Going to try to finish the grid, not sure yet if I can do storytime.
at some point in almost every grid, I find it gets too boring to work without the list because I keep typing the same bad words over and over and over again ( I bore myself)
hiya stid !
evananut, are you still in the room?
hi helen1
i guess it would be easy to compare what i already have for a letter and ask for a clue after i narrow down whats left? haha, that seems so obvious now.
stid, today is better -- bandaid is officially removed (jobless as of today)
i hear that nrk!
hi stid...sorry you're not feeling well :(
sorry you're not feeling well stid
oh nrkii -- I am so sorry, yet so relieved. What is next? (or have you thought that far ahead?)
Hi stid, hope you feel better soon
hi nef, thanks.
stid, I figure I'm going to start asking for donations from my blog, and earn my living off that :)
Good plan, nrkii! Do you have paypal or another payment service set up?
darnit, I knew I was forgetting something!
maybe I'll just have people put quarters in envelopes
ROFL!!!! Of course you have already applied for unemployment... payments are paid from the day you apply rather than the day they officially accept the claim.
so if "redly" is a wurd, why isn't "redlier?"
or redlite
evening
ZZZZactly, helen!
I haven't applied for unemployment ... it was a mutual decision to break up, so I'm not clear on whether I can... need to clarify
hiya feather!
Hi featherbee, Hi everyone!
or redlife?
or redlist?
hiya peri!
hey hey feather!
hi peri!, hi feather! I didn't recognize you!
hee
i'm sneaky
{{{{{{kristinc!!!!}}}}}
nrkii, never hurts to apply though, you can do it all on line or by phone now
lol feather found a feather :)
yep! it took some work too
si4/5 please
feather - are you finished?
has anyone else ever done a silly thing and gotten the longer word but forgotten to enter the root word? *rolls eyes*
hey stid...sorry you're not feeling well :(
NM found it
nope, 29 left. you?
down to thirty with that one...
stidmama, I do that all the time :)
i'm back, locked out by the virus check and had to get baby's food together.
stid, i'm guessing you're not up to a race?
haha, i did that today stid
i do that all the time stid!

night snowyowl!
can i please have a clue for the te6/21 this will give me fireworks .Please
And in those days, their names were Adam and Ava.
*hurries to hand out the beanbags/carpet squares/etc*
yvo, past tense of the canvas dwelling
past tense of camp shelter yvo
Goodbye periwinkle! I'll see you tomorrow in the log!
Adam's father had given them the house when they got married because, as he was the only son, he was to inherit the farm anyway.
fiz, come on out to the pool with me! here's a lounge chair!
*quickly pulls on suit and gets settled next to feather*

Fran I love your HarryPotter Icon, too funny :o)
and feeding me grapes and iced tea! *stretches to wiggle toes in the water*
(ty ronnie) *whispering because it's story time*
Ava's parents had helped to furnish the house, as their part, and had given them a fine pair of horses to work the fields.
In this way, the old plow horses could enjoy retirement along with their masters.
And for many years, the old horses and their masters delighted children with bareback rides to the creek for picnics and fishing.
Adam and Ava were strong and hard-working, honest and clever. They had much success.
fireworks!!! thanks for the help now i can listen to the story.thanks again
Ava's jams and jellies won prizes every year at the fair.
YAY Yvo!
yay yvo!!
yay yvo!!!
*can't resist whispering: look how quiet we are!*
congrats yvo!
*were* lol
*whispers* Oh no! missing another one! Bridge night -- gotta get early supper!
Adam's harnesses and tack were the envy of farmers and carters for miles around, and he sold extras at the market in the spring after sowing and before the first harvest.
yvo - come sit by the pool with feather and me!
nearly 3 minutes! LOL
sorry Jill -- it'll be on BabAnon later.
Hi, all
Dare I begin this grid? Hmmm, that is the question...
Hi Pam, it's story time
Adam and Ava were the solid, kind people their parents had dreamed of.
hi pam!
oh, sorry...sshhhhhh pam
They were the lively, creative people their parents had hoped for.
hi pam - we're all here to help during story time...
*smiles at pam* (jump in, it's not that bad)
go for it pam! not a bad grid.
Hello Pam! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Ava's youngest sister came to live with them when the first baby was born, and stayed until the third baby could walk.
Taking a deep breath, she plunges into the dark unknown.
*whispers* and done! thanks for the kind greetings all, time for me to head off for dinner. I'll have to catch the rest of the story (and the others I've missed) on BabAnon. take care everyone

The children grew up surrounded by love and activity.
sorry shorty, don't remember you having an icon! *sits down and shuts up*
*has pool boy fetch another lounger for Yvo*
Eventually, there were four boys and four girls in the family.
Ava grew grey and a little plump.
*standing by the entrance* I'm still here - popping in and out
Adam went grey briefly... and then wasn't any more.
oh thats ok fran no big deal
bald?
you dont have to shut up dear
sorry you can't stay jilli!
hi jilli, it's story time, come sit a spell
Ava could usually spot him in the fields from the wide straw hat she made him wear.
*waves at jilli* Shorty, join us for story time!
He grumbled, but he knew better than to argue with her.
And of course, he was pleased she cared.
can't lb - bridge night -- will catch up in babanon or archives or chat log
*smart man!*
good luck at bridge night jilli
ta, lb!
For her part, Ava could list every one of his flaws in detail -- but always kept them to herself and recited only his good qualities.
whats the story?
how many lightbulbs does it take to change a diaper?
*smart lady!*

stid's making it up as she goes shorty
shorty, the first 5 chapters are at babanon, stid has been telling it in pieces since last week.
Of their eight children, the eldest two boys showed themselves able farmers and eventually took over most of the farm work.
oh ok
what part general or what?
other interests, "storytime with stidmama"
Their third child was a girl, who walked with a limp after falling from a tree as a child, and so never married. She helped her mother around the house and yard, and cared for her younger siblings most ably.
ty
poor thing. a shame that people could be so shallow.
She had the most beautiful handwriting. She could often be found at the school as well, reading to the youngest students, and helping them form their letters.
The next child was another boy. Busy from the moment he could crawl, his mother and father never had a moment's rest.
As a young boy, he was always wandering off, until he knew his side of the mountain better than his mother knew her house.
As an adolescent, he slipped away from chores and went out walking for days on end, coming home with meat for the family and hides for his father to tan.
Realizing he was not suited to farming, his parents arranged for him to apprentice with the mule team leader, and he worked and traveled and made his way in the world.
*does anyone else think Stid probably had a past life?*
if anyone is bored mr ff could use the ce 6/21 clues.
*everyone that good has had several, fran*
on is a color or cherry
french for cherry, or a shade of dark red, firefly; then change the last consonant to a cross
the other is ce+custom (ri4/4)
NOT THAT I'M BORED, STID!!!
definitely not stid!
last one is like the breath mints, with an extra vowel before the last cons.
That not what I meant, incase stid is wondering
When the fifth child was born so early, she was tiny -- and couldn't be left alone. So her auntie made a little sling and she rode close to the hearts of her mother or father or auntie or grandparents until she was able to look around and squirm.
(i know, but it was funny-haha how mr ff phrased it...)
*pre-electricity incubator*
As she grew older, she spent most of her time with her grandmother next door, and soon learned all the family history and gossip, with which she entertained her brothers and sisters (and later nieces and nephews).
no problem asking for clues mr. ff, most of us are just done.
The next child was another girl, with bright eyes and a winning smile.
hi, all. hints on the two lw words, please?
From the day she said her first word, she was full of questions.
1 left--li5/10-not the hearing one?
And soon, she was full of answers.
cyclinggirl, lw4 is hawaiian garland with a W stuck in.
the other is its plural
lib, change the last consonant of the hearing one.
She loved to read, and she loved to cook. From her mother she learned how to keep a house, from her auntie she learned fine needlework, and from her grandmother she learned how to enjoy the beauty all around her.
lib - like folks who don't tell the truth; or european liquid measure
thanks, fran. got my fireworks.
ty, fran! fireworks!
yay lib!!!!
yay cyclinggirl!!!!
yay cycling, yay lib!
whoo hoo Lib!
As she grew older, she was much in demand around the village to help with housework and child care.
YAY liba!
need ce 6/21 last one plese
conrats cyclinggirl
ty, fran, fiz, lb!
ty, stid!
cop, change last consonant of the one you have.
sorry, COP wrong one
lucky girl! housework AND childcare? wow!
Her brother who was just a year younger than she was, often tagged along with her, and soon became as good a cook. He loved food.
And he loved to visit with people.
last 6/21 is like the breath mint with a long plural ending added on.
COP - like the breathmints, extra vowel before the last cons.
Fran, just stopped by, was wondering who the hairy potter was.. bwa ha...
i have no idea ypsi! it just came up in my search. :-)
As he got older, he began to work in the Inn, first just maintaining the fires and fetching water and ale; then gradually learning to cook for larger crowds he gained a reputation for good filling food.
Got it TheFiz thanks a bunch. have fireworks
I have 10 left, then I have to make pickles! sorry to interupt the story...
Eventually, he learned of an inn on the plain that needed a new cook, and he moved away.
yay cop!!!
whoo hoo COP!
yay cop! ypsi, we give clues during story time - don't hesitate to ask.
ask for clues if you need to ypsi!
Thanks all! Gotta get back to work see ya'll tomorrow!!!
ok thanx
bye cop!
later cop
bye cop!
The last child was another girl. She was thin as a baby and thin as a child.
*whispers to Fran...your pic could be Hagrid! g*
hi all
She looked out on the world from her crib with wide, wondering eyes and a serious expression.
*waves hi to smiley*
hi Smiley
hi smiley
Her grandfather would take her on his lap and sit for hours, rocking on the front porch, waving to passers by.
hi smiley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*lbd, don't know who that is*
hi there shorty
herd
Her older brothers and sisters would play with her, or read to her, or take her with them when they ran errands.
whats up?
heard anything good shorty
*tell ya after story time*
if you are beside yourself, have you been cloned?
*high-fives fran, the only other human on the face of the earth who hasn't read any HP*
yeah
She enjoyed sitting with a cat on her lap and a dog at her feet.
whats that
Her section of the flower garden bloomed with more color and hummed with the energy of birds and insects.
they thought derrick was having a heart attack
let me call ya
She moved slowly, and walked so quietly that sometimes no one noticed she had come in.
dang
When her grandmother took ill, she sat for weeks at her side, feeding her warm broth by the teaspoon full, and reading from her favorite books.
When her grandmother died, she moved into the house with her grandfather, and took care of him.
As she did, she slowly grew stronger.
*i hope if i take ill, someone will read to me from the book of stid!*
Her blue eyes brightened and her smile developed.
Her hair, which had been fine and straight, grew thick and curly.
*wonder if she started to look like her grams?*
Her brothers and sisters would stop by and bring their children , or she would go next door and help her mother and aunt with canning and baking.
She was no longer thin, but always had an elusive quality -- as if she were floating through life.
*that's what they say about me...*
Still, she and her sisters would gather in the evenings at one house or another to shell peas or string beans or work on mending the clothes.
Their happy chatter could be heard, as they talked over the day's events and the local news.
Hey, All!
hey esquian
I'm pulling my hair out on the last 12 words. Can I get some clues?
The grandfather grew older and thinner, but his step was strong and he enjoyed his granddaughter's presence.
hi all - say did stid write this? Can I sneak in a clue request...anyone help with the wi 6/30 ? Thanks and keep up the good tale stid. You must be typing like a crazy woman!
of course, esquian, what do you need?
hi esquan - what do you need, last 12 on the list?
I need wi6/30
wi+se 4/4 in the mail babbz. and yes - she's writing it on the fly as she goes! amazing!
me 2!!
wi + mailed, it means another tyipe of bufalo
esq: smart and LOTR tree people
Eventually, the eldest boy married and his parents moved into the room next to the kitchen. The next eldest brother built a home at the other end of the farm, and one took over the dairy and the other the fields.
got it, thanks!
Soon, their children were playing between the houses while their parents worked and visited.
which child ends up being the one the story started out about? i got lost
se5/10?
se5/10 is se4/4 with an extra vowel.
i was wondering the same thing!
mailed with an extra vowel at the end
i think this is the mom whose husband went away - just a guess, though.
Adam and Ava were pleased, and happily moved from chore to chore.
fish, please...
The children, each in their own way, had found their places.
right, but which daughter ends up being the mom...if that makes sense! lol
ri 6/27, ri4/7
*a haddock flies onto the story mat in esquian's direction* :-)
Hi Jac!
When Adam's father finally died in sleep, he was laid gently to rest beside his wife in the little garden under the big tree in the field.
still popping in and out - but now out until after the flip -- curses, foiled again about the story!
hi jac!
ri 6/27 is an extension of the 4/7 before it
ri6/27 - the most ri4/7 before it. ri4/7 after that is to do with guitars but usally has 2 middle consonants.
Hi FranMag.
later jilli!
esq - ri6/27 is most common (first ri4/7)
ri 4/7 a valley in africa where humans are thought to have originated (geeky clue of the day)
Hi lbd.
hi jacs
Hey, did StidMama just kill the daddy off??
**scrolling to see what jacs is talking about*
no, that was the grandfather
evenin all *yawn*....soooo tired..but only 14 left and REALLY wanna finish
jac, that was the grandpa of the kids.
actually, the great grandfather
Adam and Ava moved into the little house with their eldest girl, but continued to spend much of their time with their son and his wife.
(((cath))) need some clues?
Oops! Sorry. Not read all of it yet. I'll shut up!
oh yeah, great grandpa
Then after many years, the parents in law of the eldest son took ill.
uh oh, they're starting to drop like flies
*well heck they've been busy making a city!*
*pops grape in featherbee's mouth*
After much discussion, he decided to move his family back to his wife's village in order to care for that farm.
lol lbd
*whispers* I was thinking that, too, feather.
"mpffff"
sorry.....don't know the African clue. Anyone else for the second ri4/7?
guitar r*
esquian - does the guitar clue work for you for that?
esquian, guitar ri**, minus a consonant and then pluralized.
rizzzzzzzzzzz88 id s vrack in the earth crust
a split, esq. might happen in a family feud
A guitarist might play a ri**.
The two middle daughters had already married and moved to their husband's homes on the opposite side of the village.
I have that one
are you all talking about a book?
*ri** is a crack in the earth crust, like a fault
esquian, guitar ri**, minus a consonant and then pluralized.
judy, stidmama's telling us her own made up story
1j2u3 - No. StidMama's telling a story.
of - now published on the internet! Good for stidmama
The youngest daughter by that time had developed into a strong, capable woman with curly hair and bright eyes and a smile that warmed the coldest night.
Thanks for the clues!!! I've gotten them. No for the li's....
*i think that's the mom feather*
*whispers* ooooo, could be
*me, too*
zi agree, Featehr and Fran
She married a man who had started working as a farm hand as a young orphan but who had become as close to the family over the years.
I need 5/10 (second and third ones on lickety's list), li6/18 (first one)
*i hope stid has started notes on the characters, with all these huge families, i've lost track already!*
10 left
(is inge a bee or a fly tonight?)
Though he was several years older than she was, he appreciated the sunsets and rose early to see the sunrise.
*lol, i was gonna ask for a family tree later!*
go, Cathyar!
exhausted...cleaned apartment for new tenant 2nite...
esquian, li5/10s are a type of soft cotton and volume measurement, british style spelling.
still much work yet...deadbeat tenants left a helluva mess
He often made new tools to help with the housework or the farm.
just a stuck finger and typing too fast
esq - lickety's li4/4! for li5/10 take the last cons off, repeat the first letter, finish with 2nd vowel.
And he was constantly surprising Adam and Ava with gifts he had made.
first li6/18 is like the second, just change the last letter
esqian - li5/10 - was used for old ladies' stockings. Other li5/10 - metric volume measurement (UK spelling).
*ooh, so he made that carved bird whistle*
((((hugs for cath))))
li6/18 is an architectural term for a narrow moulding.
They were happy together, and soon their family was growing. First a girl, then a boy...
and life went on.
I am done telling the story for tonight. Did I leave any loose ends?
*claps for the story*
Thanks, once again, StidMama, for the excellent story!
no stid, i think we figured out who the parents are now.
Yay Stidmama! Standing ovation!
*claps for stid*
yw Jacula --
as long as there will be no quiz about the family tree
lol, exactly inge!

Going to bed so I can read my German news magazine, Der Spiegel. Good night all.
FranMag - After my divorce I lost al concentration and didn't read, whereas, before, I'd been a more than avid reader. I started off again with short stories and now have rediscovered the pure pleasure of reading whole books again. It took some years though.:9
night inge!
Does anyone have a clue for the mo 6/33 word please
guten nacht inge
what landscapers use, minver.
mo6/33 - those who cut the grass.
sounds like a painful divorce, Jac
Sorry
guten naben, Inge. schlaf gut (and pardon any misspellings)
plural of mo 5/20 Min
jac, with me it was moving here and having kids and stuff like that, going to get back into reading though, the favorite authors theme days reminded me of how much i loved it.
guten nacht, I meant!!! (and I know it's guten abend, just lost my mind)
lbd--rarely do I enjoy a movie as much as the book on which it is based or from which its' plot is stolen...
pam - 18 years of marriage and 22 years together don't go away lightly. 11 years on, I'm fine. I have a wonderful partner and we're very happy.

i thought that the first HP film suffered in comparison to LOTR1 which came out about the same time...i was so pleasantly surprised at what a good job they had done with LOTR
Goodbye featherbee! I'ill see you tomorrow in the log
come play scrabble with us!
godthaab - That doesn't suprise me, these days. So much is laid on that people have forgotten how to use their imaginations.
godthaab, do they mention online book sales and/or library consumption?
godthaab--not surprising, especially when you listen to the leadership speak
Does anybody have a clue for the ri 6/30 word please

Lord of The Rings was good but I still prefer the book/s.
min, past tense of ri 4/7?
last chance for a fourth spot in our scrabble game! anyone? anyone? bueller?
No, but the other interesting fact is that 66% of people don't read after they leave high school. I am not sure what "don't read" means though.
got it
li 7 = li + se 5/10, cathy
cath, it's a type of cotton thread used for old fashioned stockings.... rhymes with what the bride walks down
li5/10 Cathyar - used to be what old ladies' stockings were made of. A soft lineny material a bit like beige bandage.
Does anybody have a clue for the li 5/10 word please
DON'T READ???? no wonder
ty jac and mich
Actually, I need last 2 li 5/10 words if you have them.

time to sleep close the li**
british spelling of liquid measurement min
bubba, sounds like what a Shakespearean actor would say -- take the breathmint & add a silent vowel before the last const.
pam - I guess it means they don't read books. Everyone is reading (literally) all the time; road signs, food labels, notices etc., etc. The women's magazines of today reflect that fact that people have neither the concentration or the time to read stories. Most women's mags have one '5-minute fiction' slot now (it used to a a 10-minute, coffee break read') and all the rest is made up of 'My dog ate my baby/my husband is an animal/my doctor nearly killed me type stories.
li + time to go to ***ep
sorry again...meant 2nd last li5/10...oh...it's the plural right?
I think you are right, Jac
sheesh...fish me at one all
are you done now Cathy?

s'ok...i can't do it...i'm done.
hooray for min!!!
pam - I know I am! I may not still be a regularly published writer but I do still keep in touch with people in the business.
no fireworks...just too pooped.
thanks --mich
cath.... please don't give us so close!
up
come one cathy, let's do it!
the illiteracy rate is astounding. Kids coming right out of the high schools might read at the 4 or 5th grade level1
Cath - don't give up now! What do you need?
feel like a big ole wuss
But, I think the concentration required of a 10-minute story might be lost on a culture that uses 7 minutes as a sort of standard--t.v. commercial breaks
only 3 to go, right?
Hi all, well it is still hot!! It is 9:15pm and still 82 and very quiet. We are really having a hot summer this year in Michigan.
We'll hold you up, Cath.

li4/4 - one who reclines on a bed (but sounds like one who tells untruths).
li5/10 - plural recliners.
li4/7 - what we all live until we die.
li4/7 - elevator.

li6/30 - raised up.
li6/7 - one who raises things up.
last time i looked at my alphabet...l comes before t

no...got that too... odd i must have typed in something totally wrong, but to me, when i look at lickety's list he's put my li4/4 before my li6/18 and that's just not in alphabetical order!
excellent clues Jac!
li4/4 - diet way of spelling 'not a lot of fat'.
li5/10 - UK spelling of metric volume measurement (gas, milk etc.)
lickety is ALWAYS alpha correct!!!
k...i'm gonna go work this on my own
li4/4 - turn the last 2 letters of your shoppin li** around.

te5/12 - the one after the ninth.
it was a te...seriiously
add a vowel after the bird one
ti5/10 and te5/4...both are 2nd to last...yet again.
Is your missing te4 a t4/5 ? If so, take a vowel out of your gnashers.
ty jac
plural the one with more layers
I love talking to myself that way I get the right answers.
Cath - the te's you seek are alternate spellings of the seabirds. Add a vowel to the end of the singular and then the usual for the plural.
hodag! are you from rhinelander?

Hello Marc. Was that you I saw on WeBoggle earlier?

Im not from rhinelander but I was just there to the country concert and Neal McCoy.
I don't think so, what is WeBoggle?
Marc - li7/28 is li + se5/10.

It's Boggle, the word game, played on line. There is a Marc Freeman in there.

Hi Jacula
bech - fi4/8 is a movie.
people can really be shitty by times (sorry for the curse...but i AM upset about it all)
Didn't know the topic so I used a picture from my album of travels
just popped in to see everyone's harry potter icons - cathy you are a riot & i know what a pain that is about tenants
Cath - I can understand why you'd be upset. (((HUGS)))
but babbleland is SOOO PEACEFUL AND LOVING AND WARM!!!
ty jacs
It sounds like you have the right to be. I rented before i bought my current home, and the landlord was so thrilled that i left his house better than when i move in.
wow..not many people make it there..its so isolated
least i can do is stick around and help clue!!! anyone need help or was i actually the last in the world to finish this nite!!!!?
you get varicose veins thinking about going there!
I think there are new arrivals now, Cath.
if nothing else Cathy, just sit back chill and chat
cathy - wait until 6 months from now when someone calls you & asks 'can my girlfriend get her christmas stuff back, it's sentimental' yeah, GUESS WHO'S MENTAL???? LOL plus i had to drag an air conditioner down 2 flights of stairs!
i guess there arent any direct flights from jfk

did you go to the galapogos islands too
LOL helen!!! i've been cleaning behind em for almost a week now!!! can't wait to take em to court tho..gonna be a $1000 claim... or at least a $1000 judgment that'll take forever to recover...unless i can get em to settle for 600
jac...what's a tipple?
JFK to Chile, then to Mataveri airport
I'd take $600 at this point...tho they owe me at least a grand
nice
lbd - a drink!
nope, I was more interested in the Easter Island statues.
that's what i thought, but had to make sure.
Cathy, why don't you press for damages? and your time?
LOL
the closest ive come to the galapogos is that my civic is a color called galapogos green
Hi Everybody!
only happened once to me *knocking on wood* but it cost me big cause i have the firm belief that only people with problems move in december in chicago - so i don't rent in the winter
as long as it goes faster then the tortoise
Hiya Stidmatt.
Hi stidmatt
hiya stidmatt!

hi stidmatt

i don't think i could be a landlord or apt manager. i'm too picky about how things need to be.
Hi Everyone! Can anyone please help me and my monkey with the final ce6 word? Thanks.
Me, too, lbd.
hiya jee! take the eye out of the previous word
Jee: Sounds like series?
Hi Jee!
Jeewhiz - old word for 'certainly'.
Hi Stidmatt! How is it going tonight? Are you finished yet?
i am lbdawger...i work at a law firm...i'll at least have a judgement against them and they'll never own anything substantial till they pay me off... i have a "perfect claim" against them for how they left!!!
lbd - you learn patience & you learn to provide only the bare essentials, industrial grade bare essentials that is!
no fish please i had chili for supper - may i have the le 6?????????
I know that, not because I looked it up after I got it, but because I used to know a lad who had that word as a surname.
oooh lol cathy - revenge is sweetest when you work at a law firm :)
i hated my girlfriend so i le****
Hi Ren!
just a "small claims court deal" but it's better than nothing!
hey mistress!!!!
more liberal
Ren - le6/27 - more opposite of right.
ren: Even more liberal than Hillary on the political scale
Thanks for your attempts on the ce6 clues, but I am still clueless. Can you try again for me? I would appreciate your efforts....grovel, grovel....:)
Patience I have, but i'm terribly intolerant of people wrecking someone elses property. or leaving a mess for someone else to clean.
not really revenge...just that i won't be a damned pushover landlady...bought the house with my ex and he left 2 months after we got it so i was left holding the bag!!!
jee - take the 'i' out of the previous word
hahahah chj funny thanks all...ok - may one little fishy smack!
Thanks Helen, think I must have tried everything but that!
ce which?
you go cathy!!
i hope you get the full judgement Cathy.
Cathy, are you asking for help on a ce word, or were you trying to help me?

Jac slaps Ren with a tiddler.
I got them now, but thanks....I am ready to help others now.....:)
tks lbdawg...i'm sure gonna try!!!
I'll take help - need 3 c's - I have ce 6, ce 7 and ce6
CHJ, adjusted my icon
what is a tiddler?
What's a tiddler and is it fun?
CadFan - a baby fish.
ok...thanks mistress...i needed that!
lol funny - 2 hats in a row
lawyers at the office say i have an open n shut case against em so... eventually perhaps in 50 years (the way canadian law goes) i might see my $$$
LOL. Knew you US lot wouldn't know what it was and be 'rude'. :-)
cadfan, look up and see the ce** minus the ing.
Hi everyone, been lurking tonight. 2 left and then its bed time: ce6/21 & te5/12. Any help to be had?

ohh! done with c's thanks folks!
te5/12 a person who lisps and is on edge is too te***
ohhhhhhh...i love captain blood! pirates....
No sarcasm....I love it in here, and I love your attitude...didn't mean to sound sassy.
sarcasm? by whom?
li7????? you can tiddle me again!
I have that one cathy. I have 2 ce6/21's. Is there another one or have I miscounted?
Cath - JeeWhiz. But, it's okay. It's sorted now.

JeeWhiz - I love your icon.
everyone in babbleland is SWEET!!! warm n wonderful... or am i just niave!!!
Thanks Jacula...now Maxine, she is sarcastic and sassy.
Ren - lie 7 = li + se5/10.
li7 a fib with mailed inserted between the vowels
it's the last ce6/21 that I'm missing
ce + short for route then pl
ce6,21 mint + the great **cape
Eva, take the i out of the previous c-word.

'Night lbd.
mitress of the night!
Ren - Yep!
need help with lw
Some folks sunbathe. I moonbathe. Ask Paul and his parents! While they liked frying like chickens in the morning/afternoon sun, I only appeared on the beach in the late afternoon/early evening. LOL.
bekki - Hawaiian garlands with a 'w' in the middle.
HAS anyone ever seen a "hODAG"?
No idea what a hodag is!
thank you jacula
S'okay. I've just Googled 'hodag'.
y/w bekki.
A hodag is somewhat like a haggis or a dragon.
(The head of a bull andf the face of a grinning man...?? Weird!)
iT IS GREEN WITH SPIKES ON ITS BACK ,HORNS ANDFOUR BIG WHITE FANGS. They only live in Rhinelander,Wis..
.. and they apparently only sleep by leaning against trees.
hodag is real? really?
they don't sleep
The Black Hodag had "the head of a bull, the grinning face of a giant man, thick short legs set off by huge claws, the back of a dinosaur, and a long tail with a spear at the end." It lived in the dense regions of nearby swamps, feasting mostly on mud turtles, water snakes, and muskrats, although it did partake in an occasional human.
They smell rank.
can any one clue the fi 4/8?
ewwwwwwwwwwwww
Mr. Sheppard was also able to catch a female hodag after noticing that hodags only slept by leaning against trees. He simply cut down the tree, capturing the hodag. The two were successfully bred, and the result was thirteen eggs, all of which hatched. Sheppard taught these hodags a number of tricks, which he hoped to show for a profit.
need help with le 6
oh never mind just sent a fish, i found it
hahahaha!!
le 6 -- not a righter
Aknitter - going to see a movie later? LOL.
there....off to bed now...son's lunch for camp ready and i'se soooooo tired...byebye
maybe i should
thank you aknitter
Cathyar - sleep well. No dreaming of the next grid now!
yw
sweet zz's cath
Mr.Sheppard was a cool dude. Hodags were a little rank if you could get close enough to smell one.
were they real?
hodag - Thanks for drawing my attention to this US version of the Yeti/Loch Ness Monster. It's fascinating.
Can anybody lend a hand with c7.32?
Ren - It should be noted that although the Rhinelander Daily News "advanced the theory that the hodag was a missing link between 'the ichthyosaurus and the mylodoan' of the ice age," some disbelievers proclaimed that the hodag was simply a large dog that had been covered with a horse hide and displayed in poor lighting. These people further claimed that the word hodag was a combination of the words "horse" and "dog." However, as any student of Latin knows, Bovinus spiritualis means drunken ox, which can certainly not be confused with any dog in a horse hide.
can I get a clue for wi 6/30, please?
trza - plural od the ce6/21 before it.
Think about it. Jacula don' you belive in it?
bech - wi6/30 is wi + mailed.
ty jacula
Jacula - thx!
st 6 please
No idea, hodag. Not read enough yet to say. I do believe that when folk tales of various mysterious creatures persist so long as the Yeti and Loch Ness monster ones have done, and there are various versions over the world, that there may well be truth in such stories. I do know that the UK's big cats exist because I've seen one twice.
Ren - st6 = 'trouble and st****'.
st + ri4/
thanks mistress
Jacula, your alright.
y/w, Ren.
she's more than alright hodag! she's the mistress of the dark!
hodag - I must be; I believe in magic.;-)
Aw, Ren. You're making me blush!
Oh dear. Once again I'm finding I'm in a crunch here because of frequent interruptions in our house. Why won't my family understand that Babble is important?
Jacula, I belive in tall black pointed hats.
I once did that too, before I started playing.
murphy's law nef
Nef - it's one of life's little frustrations all we Babblers have to bear.:-)
hodag - you're bats! LOL.
oh how true, Jac and Ren!
Ren - I call it Sod's Law!
LOL Jacula!
i.e. if the bread can land butter side down, it will.
who is Sod?
i remember you telling me that before mistress! wish i could remember it next time.
What, Ren? I've forgotten!
sods law
Nef - Sod is the god that decrees that if anything can possibly go wrong, it will.
Like my life.
Oh. Here it's a guy named Murphy. Are they related, do ye think? ;-)
i.e. the bread will land butter side down on the carpet and pick up cat hairs. The glass will smash when you drop it. You won't stop in time to avoid that car/tree.
gross. I THOUGHT I had pulled out some tuna filets to thaw this morning. I just heated up the grill, started the pasta cooking, and discovered--I had thawed a pound of bacon....
Hey Stidmatt. Why so glum?
I might be Jacula but, this lady "Hodag" has a lot of fun!lol
Nef - Yes, Murphy and Sod are father and son.
like that witch icon you have mistress that flies into the tree!!! LOL
your nose only itches AFTER you've got the sterile gloves on to change a dressing (I'm a nurse)
hodag - Well, I'm definitely batty! Join the club!
I could use some help with my last I. I have two that involve land
i'm buggy
Ren - Oh, the one on BabAnon - 'don't Drink & Fly.
I do have LORD VOLDMORT as my icon, so since he isn't a nice guy, he would have to be glum, I'M GETTING RIDDLEIS!!!
Cadfan - ask away.
yes! that one! i love that icon!
I've got a song on my computer somewhere all about Murhpy's day on the building site. It's hilarious. I must find it sometime for you all.
Hopefully it is a bacteria.
I'm sorry Cad, I haven't got those either
Can anybody clue the second er4?
like what you put cremains in but with an e
Cad: I have that one
Ren - REFRESH to see the icon you like.
2nd eer4 = former, at a previous time. Sometimes seen as er**while lover.
*meant er4
k- then I think you need the last one, same as the one i just mention but stik an e before the last letter
oh! witchy pooh!!!!
Thanks Jac
sorry - clued the er 5 there, go witih what jacula said
y/w trza.
Cadfan - since you have the Sorting Hat, which group would you put me into?
which group was the tree-huggers again?
BJ - you are incorrigible!
LOL brandy!!!
LOL
21 to go. This grid has been very manageable.
but, but, it's YOUR icon......
LOl....there is a tree mistress!
Slytherin is the house for students known as being 'resourceful...with a certain disregard for rules,' also 'shrewd' and 'cunning folk [who] use any means to achieve their ends.' Hufflepuff is home to students who are 'hard workers,' also 'just and loyal,...patient...true, and unafraid of toil.' Gryffindor welcomes those students known for their 'chivalry,' and who are willing to fight for what is 'right and good.' Ravenclaw is the 'wise old' house, reserved for only the 'cleverest' students, those of 'ready mind...wit and learning.
ROFLOL, BJ.
Hey, Hetty, what is your icon, I know you're on!
Are you a teacher Jacula,What kind/
Just reading those house descriptions properly, I would say I've been all of those things over my life so far. What say the rest of you re yourselves?
hodag - No, not a teacher. Oh dear! Do I come across as a bossy knowitall?
Jac- What are you trying to say about teachers?
gobbling, strangling sound issues from the corner......
I think, given the choice, I'd have to be in gryffindor.
not at all Jacula but, interesting.
Leigh - erm... What kids think about teachers.
*pout* I don't want to be a bossy know-it-all...
*backtracks rapidly, since most of her friends are teachers and most of her kids' friends are now becoming teachers.*
Hey MG!
hufflepuff ...i guess that's me....
Leigh - yu have to be to an extent. That's how you gain authority and respect, so you can actually persuade kids to learn.
*lol @ Jac*
Drowning the yard inbetween babbling
as in liquiour?
my grand daddy allus taught me 'never attempt to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig'.........
Hi there Kahlua - MayneBoy and I are working together tonite - 2 left woohoo!
Can someone either bash BJon the back, please, or perform the Heimlich Manoeuvre. I think he may have swallowed something.
does anyone have a clue for the er-5?
please
plural the 4.....
I.ve seen some pigs I.d like to annoy!
ty brandyjack
pitas - er5 - sea eagles.
I wont swear at you MG but lets just say you made the coffe
So much for going listless...
party at mg's kahlua's!
hodag - is that pigs in as 'police' (btw. my ex- bro-in-law is a cop) or pigs as in oink, oink, pork crackling & apple sauce?
Posted your letter this morning. Did Ole make it home yesterday?
if you're listless, not enough good liquer around.....
*giggles @ bj*
1 left - sl 5 - anyone?
Not enough good wine here. I bought some cheap wine on the recommendation of some woman in the supermarket. Knew I shouldn't have done! It's like gnat's pee.
Yes it did, on the back porch
hello all, watching "8 Below" with Grant and Tom. Nice story so far...
Got it - Fireworks for the Mayne Kids!!!
Pigs as in some people that arn't very nice.
Hi Mama.
Jac....after a few glasses I sure it wont matter
Congrats, Mayne.
hi, can i have a clue for the 7 letters please?
Oh well Jacula - better than pondswill - as a (former) friend used to refer to mine
Kahula - it WILL!
Nice job Mayne
:P
Pondswill with sugar!
YAY Mayne!
mddle
Well hi there Stidmama!
Oh that bad
God! I hate sweet wines.
Is it even good for cokking then?
oops
can't type
Yep, that bad!
Kahula - doubt it!
That is bad - I like Shiraz - and we make it at U-Brew here
Hi StidMama. Are you feeling any better now?
did someone saw gnat????
Can you Babble without it?
I like dry white wines.
i love the sugary stuff. Drambui, Grand Marnier, Ouzo.....
yes, thanks Jacula, I am not as unhappy as I was.
Ren - I said gnat as in gnat's pee.
7 letter words - one is like cherries but change the last consanant to the crossbar
Brandy...Surgar is great but not in wine
BJ - if you like Ouzo, you'd like Crete. Ever been there? Try Raki, the local firewater, if you do go.
i love eon water
Is that supposed to be a clue???? MG
nothing is great in wine..... detest the stuff myself.....
Sugar is necessary in wine-making for the yeast to work. However, it should be fermented out.
The other 7 letter word is "fib" split by "mailed"
Someone wanted the 7 letter words .....
StidMama - you were unhappy? Did I miss something? What was up? (Hugs)
ok another word for cherry coloured
well, unhappy with feeling ill... seems to happen too often.
anyone have the se-5? please? ;)
Goodnight everyone.
good night hodag.
Aw, poor StidMam.xxx
se 5 is se 4 +e
nite you ol' hodag you!
Night hodag.
sirt
close but no cigar, pitas
thank you
pitas - se5.10 - add a vowel to the 'posted/mailed' se4 word before it. But do it in the word box not the chat box.
sorry - mistyping - very late & eyes are buggy
Kahlua - where's your profile?
Maynegirl - never mind that, where's your little girl's photo icon gone?
ok...i'm felling extra stupid tonight....i've misplaced the te's
Well, I've given up waiting for MY daughter to come home now. Haven't seen her for 3 days.
Haven't figured how to do it yet
Ren - try looking under the mat for them. LOL.
ooh Jac! that's got to be hard -- but didn't she have her own place?
hey chj - captain bloods over you can come back now
Jacula - I think you have me confused with some other babbling fool - I did have a wine glass - you have a point - I need to change my icon - the reason for the wine rack was the theme of the day was furniture and my little girl (Kahlua) bought me one just like the one in the icon *whew* *too much typing*
Stidmama - she did but she seems to spend no time there. She spends more time in her latest b/f's garage! in between times, she breezes in here... yes, it is hard.
Maynegirl - I was asking where your daughter's icon was.
Kahlua - go to My Account above the chat log
Oh - how embarrassing.
did that
*pours another glass of wine*
MG your phone is ringing
Can anyone help Kahlua get an icon?
is there a clue for the first st word? I can't see it...thx!
My God, Kahlua, you're psychic!
Kahlua - then click on the 'edit' thing underneath your little grey picture.
stilf
oh, smack me upside the head... LOL!
Bash - st5/10 is a medical shunt. However, just type in s + canvas dwelling.
with a tiddle
Someone help with the last ce 6/21?
Thanks, Jacula! I swear I tried that once and it rejected me. :)
Ce 6, take the middle vowel out of the word above it
LOL ren!
Thanks, bash
Two more. Two l words.
Kahlua - then you have 2 options: 'fetch icon' or 'browse'. If you have your own photos stored on your computer you can use the 2nd option to upload one. Once you've done so you may need to refresh (press the F5 button) a couple of times to see it in the chatlog.
Ren - a tiddle (in UK) means a piddle ( a pee).
one i is a little **land, a small bit of land surrounded by water.
hahahahaha..i thought you said it was a a little fish!
li 7/28?
fireworks for me... not feeling well so I'm off to bed
Or did you mean "L" words?
Bash- L words. Sorry. Thanks for trying anyway, with that i..
good night CadFan, feel better!
Congrats, Cad, feel better!
sweet zz's cad....
Ah, "L". li+mailed a letter+vowel
Thank you bash. Now I will figure out my last word on my own, because I'm stubborn and feel cheap when I ask for help
awww...we all need a little help nw and then. But I hope you find it quickly!
Indeed! Finished! And in less than an hour...good grid
Leigh - I know that feeling! Best of luck!
congrat!
s
:)
YAY leigh!
Ren - a tiddleR is a little fish. A tiddlE is a pee.
Thank you, thank you, and more thank you's. =)

Goodness me! The UK and the US both speak English, I think. LOL.

Thanks, Debb!
It's amazing our countries are allies whn you thik of all the potential for misunderstanding!
Thank you Jac - Kahlua now has icon!
Why do I get the feeling I'm having the 'tiddle/widdle/pee' taken out of me?
it's the gracious way you forgive and our southern hospitality!
Jac....I have an icon
Ah! CrazyFrog! Love it!
hahahahahaha kahlua.....
And I have my wineglass back
what hogwash twaddle and bullhonky
I love frogs
Back at the flip. ta ta for now *for Jac's benefit*
Crazy Frog - aka The Annoying Thing. I think he's fun.
Can anybody help with wr5,18?
Byzantine - hogwash, twaddle and bullshit, more like.
what hurts when you get carple tunnel, or how some people get carple tunnel
and i'm back to being barbie
trza - wr5/18 - what joins your hand onto your arm or what you do when you put pen to paper.
I think there are two of them according to Lickety
Failing that, you could try legal wr's.
3 wr5/18's.
wa-5 help please?
I have legal and hand ones..
again, pita, plural the 4....
trza - I wouldn't know, since I consulted neither BJ nor Lickety for today's grid. But I did finish the grid... ther are 3 wr5/18's.
ty brandy! must be getting sleepy
wa4 & plural 5 - cat sound. Think alt. spelling of Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wa**'.
so few of these words make sense that one wonders if they can be pluraled....
ce 6,21 3rd one please
BJ - as far as I know the 'caterwa**' has a different consonant in it, one that sound like a texter's 'you'.
ye olde english for definitely....
ManUtdFan (Red) - it means 'truly'. Short school exam piece of paper plus vowel plus usual curly consonant for pluralising.
I'm having problems with my 4/7's tonight. I need one of the last 2 fe 4/7 (I have the one that is Brit lowlands); I need 3 fi 4/7s (I have the french word, the tree, the size) and I still need the fr 4/7 also
true, but at least caerwa** has enough info in the rest of the word to make sense of it. As for the wi6/30, why can't the germans call an aurochs an aurochs like the rest of us....
LOL, BJ. And we all even knew of the existence of the Aurochs before today? Of course we did!
European bison? Hmm.
as a matter of fact I did. despite the fact they have been extinct for 300 years.....
Have they? That would explain why Ididn't see one yet!
Icon change!!!! And look at my profile, too.
hi everyone!
BJ - I'm glad you just said you knewthe word. Lots of times I've wanted to say I knew a word, even used it....
last ones were wiped out in Poland area in mid to late 1600's....
I think I have all of the FI's, Nit. Need help?
But Geekdom and all that...
sigh
clue for ce 6 21
yes, trza, I do need help
I need the last 3 fi 4/7s please
not sure why the breeders didn't try farming them as the did those stupid things roaming the fields these days. Of course, maybe the aurochs were smarter than the local farmers and noblemen, who knows....
ce6/21 - a pink shade popular in the 80's.
fr 4/7.. think of the neck of a guitar
If the show fi**
ce6/21 - ce + ri4 (ri** of passage).
Thanks scv! :D Did you finish yet?
haha no
32.
I do have that one trza
i gave up earlier
BJ - you should read my friend the Eginburgh Uni professor's books about Littlenose. His name is John Grant (my friend) and his books about the Neanderthal's and the new more upright men are hilarious.
LOL! I hadn't seen you and thought you'd finished while I was off playing "housekeeper" and boss of the hose here! :)
nah, i decided to read
*Edinburgh
fi4/7, if the shoe **** wear it, then reverse the last two letters
Nef: Let me stand next to your fi**
nef, boss of the hose, sounds way cool!
trying to milk the rest of my summer by not doing anything unless i absolutely have to, which explains the babble and books all day
Thx Jac, but I meant the last ce 6 21
in the forest there are some fi4/7 trees
I got the shoe one HJ, thanks for the reversed letters. I SWEAR that sometimes I enter words and the darn game won't take them!
is anyone else having trouble accessing profiles and archives?
Harpjane's picture, from afar, reminds me of Kryten from Red Dwarf... *rubs eyes*
No, mama
yep. Kryten for sure! in old man version...
Trza I know I entered that word before; but it isn't there now (I was watching a forest fire online at the time!)
ce 6/21 means truly, definitely.. i've got nothing other than that
You know Red Dwarf? =)
well, my info wasn't too far off, it was Poland, but it was 1627. And apparently, our current cattle are the result of the domestication of the Aurochs.... Been a number of attempts to breed back to the original strain, but without success to date. Wiki is wunderful....
Sure is, BJ.
more to the point, do you know anyone who would admit to knowing Red Dwarf....
fyi -- stidmatt just figured out it's Harry Potter's birthday... :-)
morning all
besides our crazy stidfamily? LOL
the second ne4?
morning oggy!
hahaha stid :)
plural of a thing for catching butterflies, scv
I will happily admit that I used to love Red Dwarf, when it was on television here.
oh my, keep missing the easy ones. ty susan.
yw
We have some on tape... and now reruns are coming through on cable (not sure which channel)
ce6/21 - anagram of secret or erects, if that helps.
I never watched Red Dwarf. Wsas too busy with young kids at the time. The X Files, however, s another matter.
thanks for the help everybody; I'm still not done, but at least I'm closer
X-Files... *li'l sigh* Memories...
go Nef go!
I loved Red Dwarf! But just didn't see very many of the series
Mulder & Scully. Never the twain meant to meet.
great! NOW i'm getting all these odds and ends. ill still never make it.
Craigh Davies is in Coronation Street now.
scv - ask for clues and they shall be given.
back for the flip
hi chj!
hey susan
wi 5/18?
plural of the clothes you wash in hot water, misspelled
wi5/18 - not blacks. (alt. spelling)
you are both excellent, thank you
not a laundry kinda gal myself ;p
yw
I wouldn't be here if I was either..
My icon is making me so hungry.....
I vote that we ban any further food themes...for fear that I will get fat.
Oh yes, re icons. It'a ice cream time now, isn't it?
It helps if you don't keep any in the house leigh.....my fridge is calling me
I don't keep any cold stone ice cream in my house either. Way too tempting.
hi muse -- I didn't see you earlier. done?
mymuse - you don't keep ice cream in your frigde, surely? It would melt! The freezer is the place for it. Preferably the upright one in my house; the chest freezer even makes soft scoop solid!
Hi stid - I finished last night
is everyone done? anyone need clues?
*fridge
lol Jacula, meant the freezer
Thanks to you, chj!
mymuse - just like I meant the fridge. LOL.
5.31am here. My O/H has just gone out to work and it's time for me to brew a pot of tea. BRB.
oh - so efficient, you are! LOL
hi all!
hi fran!
hi Fran
how may words can we expect tonight?
hi fran
hey fran
hi stid, muse!
Hi FranMag - can't talk right now. Am busy making a pot of tea.
Hi Fran!
chj - who knows?
I think it'll be a fairly big grid. *sets out pretty cups and saucers for tea*
the shadow knows
ri6/30?
Any help with the lw words, please?
past tense of ri4/7 before it
past tense of the ri** valley in africa
*wanders off to the dooble-vay-say, as the French pronounce it*
Hawaiian necklace, with a w thrown in
the lw words are the floral greetings from hawaii with a w
hi leigh! sorry, had to step away too!
ri6/30 = the most ri4/7.
SEE? hah, thank you.
im off to work bbl.
later oggy!
later oggy
later oggy --
The lw plural word is an anagram of 'wiles'.
Where the HECK do they find these words? HUMPH!
(I only give this kind of clue so close to the flip!)
in a dumpster in peoria
BTW, thanks for the clues everyone
im down to 25 and i think thats it.
how many left, nef?
scv ask for clues if you like...
when words i need exceeds the minutes i have left its time to let it go :)
scv - 25 words are possible to do in the time left. Ask for clues!
eh thats too many
Oh, okay then.
*plops back down into bed*
Jacula -- made raspberry jelly on Sunday. Would you like some for the tea?
Leigh must be on a laptop.
i definitely appreciate everyone helping me today, but this was my first grid
*thinking leigh was on a bed*
Stidmama - might be nice, or are you blowing a raspberry at me? LOL.
Oh yes. The house computer has more problems than a 94 year old man who just ate a can of beans.
well scv, you did really well for your first grid!
scv - Well done then!
well, would offer cherry pie or marionberry pie... but finished those off earlier today!
i think the next grid will be a little easier for me since i know the drill now, and lickety and everything.
You've done well, scv; I still have 40 word left and am still trying
A raspberry jelly sounds lovely, StidMama. Can I offer you Madeira cake, apple pie or rhubarb & nectarine crumble (all made earlier).
ask for clues, guys! You've got 20 minutes.
go Nef! what next? *puts on clue-giving hat*
hey guys just popping in - no chance to even start the grid and I won't do that now
your computer has olfactory problems leigh
hi again everyone - here for the flip

hi debb. cooler now?
hi debb!
Or there's harlequin pasta salad (recipe in BabAnon) or potato salad...
hi andy
hay deb--lets go mets
no escpae here huh stid LOL
I haven't tried making a wine cake before.
*snickers @ chj*
I need ALL of the si's and the sl's. Don't know how I missed them before
Stid - you have the pudding wine with it if you like. I'll stick to tea now and dry white wine later.
was checking the grid only adn if it was under 100 I might have started
*grins at andy* are you home yet, weary traveler?
hi all - stid - it's so much better out here - but i'm afraid its going east -
si4/7, 6/30 what you do to flour, then past tense
yup - nack from Tampa/Miami hot/humid/but good trip
will be home for a week or so now
well, east sounds like they could use some relief too.
yes, were gonna be near or over 100 next two days
Stid - There's no wine in Madeira cake! It's plain flour, baking powder, margarine or butter, eggs and either lemon or orange peel.
glad itwas a good trip. When does your family get home from Europe?
well southeastern FL is always a basket case in summer
id go to a mets game if it wasnt gonna be so hot
thanks , my muse
indeed - i feel for all those being affected
end of Aug stid
si4/5 = si + w*** bill hickock
(I woulda put the period after the word "case" andy...)
wow! you are really getting a long break. I bet you miss them.
silf
Nef - wrong box!
oooh, chj - too hot watch them on tv
ok well I would not - I was always tought (Oxford English) that if i doubt about comma/period LEAVE IT OUT
Not a word anyway. Try another consonant on the end if you're looking for a fish.
i plan to--as long as there's no blackout
(meant I would omit the last bit of the sentence!)
OOPS! I've never been able to work the grid and talk!
up I do but they make granparents happy and since they are all in their late 70's it won't be forever so I am happy they are all happy and suck it up
I have 3 ST words - heart helper, move liquid, and throw about. Am I missing one?
misery and turmoil, trza
trza: fight
sl 5/10 more cunning
HAHAHA stid I can't say that aloud but let us just say I had a good job offer i 197 from Fort Lauderdale (German company making lasers) and I turned it down
there were rolling blackouts in california - i luckily didn't get one

In Montana a "parking problem" means you might have to pay 50 cents amd walk two blocks!
I live in a wonderfully quiet village, apart from the sound of tractors, cows, crows, magpies etc. It's only 10 miles from the major city where I was born, but I realise the quiteitude when I go back there.

i can clue 1 minute still
go trza!
hurshy I did not (I never watch TV) but here is a dump from Wikipedia and it is hilarious Colbert has frequently mentioned Wikipedia on his show, and in the July 31, 2006 "The WØRD" segment he coined the portmanteau of Wikipedia and reality, Wikiality. He checked Wikipedia to determine whether Oregon was California's Canada or Washington's Mexico before deciding to declare it Idaho's Portugal and pretending to change Wikipedia to make it so. He also instructed viewers to change the elephant article to say that the number of elephants has tripled in the last six months. He goes on to express his love for Wikipedia as it presents a philosophy similar to Colbert's own truthiness (that intuition is more true than fact) as "if enough people believe something" it becomes true.
that's why I aske HJ
