That's my problem...I always feel the need to look these danged words up.

ok guys..the words for sitting down..isnt that...'sedent'..as in sedentary?
ty jilli..would never have found that
Good morning all. I am sedentary ( for rolin)
and isnt there a word sedent..?
sedens is the latin for sitting.
hmm..so maybe ive been using this nonword for all my life..lol
And no-one has had the heart to correct you.
oh cmon.. the ppl i mix with...they dont have hearts..lol
Morning Haz rolin - if you are going to refer to people as ppl I will have to rename you syndie :)
you work wtith lawyers/estate agents then?
lol..mitch..dare i say...soz..
Oh, seano digging the knife in there.
seano...nah..teachers..much MUCH worse
tho i did work for real estate in a previous life
twitching quietly at the mere thought of ... soz
i can cope with ll that..the abbreviations etc...its when they adopt american street rubbish...exchanging the 't' for 'd'...wid..instead of with.. that presses all my buttons
Here here rolin
oooh, there is abit of ale in the grid! :D c5
im an english teacher...and the rational part of me says that it just the way our language is modifying against the influence of technology..just as it has through out history...but it doesnt mean i have t like it when its happening in the era i exist in..
*steps off soap box*..sorry
gerite
ite
Let them see how far their text speak gets them when they want to apply for a job.
*round of applause* for rolin
not alseep yet - seems a lot of people need to read "Eats, Shoots and Leaves'
i think McD's demand fluency in text speak
how many words are there in this grid?
181 today
A wonderful book, jillibus. I read it and realised that I was not alone in feeling pain when viewing grammatical howlers.
haz..thats true.. but whos to say how their kids will be working?.. tin class i acknowledge the rationa side of the situation to the kids..but tell them they have to play the game as WE want it...cos just for now its WE who have the power...mwwaaaaaaaah
now jill is that a clue\
thanks, mitch
I know that at my son's school, he is an outcast cause he doesn't 'street talk'... I feel sorry for the little bugger.
I don't hink so, taz!
ok was th8inking panda lol
*think
mrp..my kids got that too.. we moved to a rural 'factory town'..and my kids were hounded cos they 'talked posh'...that is came from professional parents
not there, taz -- good thought, though
tazpink - the aforementioned book by Lynne Truss explores how the use of punctuation and grammar clarifies language.
can't understand this "dumbing down"!
need a cuppa..brb
ty for the clarification
Rolin you are so right! My son [now 20] was given a grade A for an essay he wrote. I found 27 spelling and gramatical errors - his teacher could only find 23! But I am 57 and she was straight from training.
Back shortly.
bye for now! dinner time!!
How about the editor of a university creative writing publication who repeatedly allowed "shinning" instead of "shining"?
note brief: I did not bfn!!
See you later MrP
have a good dinner, mrp
23 mistakes and he got an A... what would he have scored if there were no mistakes? morning all :)
Hey sherb
morning, sherb. It's morning here too -- 12:45 am and I should be going to bed, but...
'Its the content that counts' I was told. I must confess it was good but can. it be good and gramatical as well?
morning FMItch, morning jIlli :) ...either I'm skiving from work, or it's the holdays!!
Oh yes, did'nt think of that sherb, so you're skiving then LOL
how many wrds to find?
181
thnx
ive gt 64
I'm with you JFB... children should learn the rules of language first and then they can decide when to follow them... if they never learn them, who's to tell whether they're being creative, or just ignorant...
Do they still teach grammar in England? It seems to have been left by the wayside here.
sherb Just like using a calculator. A group of youths were astounded when I added up a column of figures without a calculator. I told them I used the oldest one known to man - the one between my ears. They didn't get it!
back again...it all stems from the idea that the process is the most important thing..its the process of creativity..that educates.which seen in isolation is fine...but it forgets that the purpose to write is to communicate ideas toothers..a piece can be amazingly creative...but if no one can make head nor tail of it..it only benefits the person who created it
jilli..we teach the basics..verbs adjective nouns tenses clauses phrases punctuation.
morning Frances :) ...mental arithmetic... another dying skill...
subjunctives?
nope.none of the gritty stuff...theres no time...it has been pressured out of the curriculum
jilli - I can't actually remember being taught grammar myself, and I went to school in the 70's... but I studied languages, and I think that's how I picked most of it up...
gasbags and aeolists
People here say "If I would have ..." and I have to tape my mouth shut
HA!!!...sedent is in dictionary.com
what's your view then, Byzantine?
Hooray for rolin!
ooooh no jilli..i could live with that.what the kids say and write is...'if i would of...'
my english for 11th and 12th grade (the same teacher) made us learn how to do all of the moods, tenses, etc. of a word
I was taught grammar, initially through Latin and then through foreign languages. Grammar is the structure that holds language together and shouldn't be swept away. (I'm back)
had to look up 'aeolists'...
oh, hohoho, rolin -- but one person who uses that is a retired TEACHER!!!!
Mental arithmetic and grammar - we had it drummed into us at school in the fifties and sixties.
and in the thirties...
i stink at mental arithematic.
Me too *blush*
Math and I don't get along too well.
Haz - nobody gets Latin at school here either, unless at a private one
morning Haz :) ...I loved Latin... so logical...
me neither enigma..
i so wanna make erudite...
Hmmm - the language lovers aren't maths lovers....
fireworks
jillibus Isn't that why the sciences are suffering?
I have always noticed that going through school as well, Jillibus.
I dunno, frances -- I have a BSc, but bological sciences
Congrats saphyre
thanks
YAY saphyre!!! Fantastic!!!
I love science...it's just when you get into all of those chemical equations that I tend to lose interest.
Latin is still taught in some schools here, although probably not the extent that it once was. It's a pity as it forms a great basis for learning about language. As for maths, I'm not great, but mental arithmetic was drummed into us at primary school. Multiplication tables by rote wasn't fun, but it was effective!
We HAD to take Latin when I was in school
Funnily enough, I liked chemistry and biochemistry -- I seem to like visual things, not numbers
I remember having to listen to those small records with the times table on them when I got into the 5th grade.
We started learning our times tables at five years old.
I had to laugh at one scene in 'Dead Poets Society' when a supposed Latin lesson with eighteen year olds was going on. They were doing things that would have been covered in their first year.
Evening all. Heard you talking about Latin roots. What is the verb of sedition? Any clues?
We weren't allowed to go to fourth grade unless we had the times tables down. It seemed mean then but I'm glad since it is one thing you always need
No times tables until 5th grade??? We got them much earlier and were into algebra and geometry by then as I recall (Brit school in Shanghai)
Well, I grew up in Mississippi (USA).
Well, I guess that accounts for it - lol
Sedition is a noun, no verb given, but the adjective is seditious.
Unfortunately, not everyone gets a quality public education.
I have seen university students who could not add fractions.
Um, university students don
don't look at me, riemann -- lol
Sorry, finger slip. University students don't know what a fraction is.
shoot, did it again!!!
and my dog is bigger than your dog; my dad can whoop yours; and all that other snobocrat twaddle
have you got a sticky key jilli? :)
On a recent exam, at least 20% of a certain university class could not multiply 2000 times 5.25 without a calculator.
see the pretty butterfly flutter by (blush)
no, sherb, just leaned too long on enter
amazing riemann
Byzantine - bad day at work?
And my complexion is de6/33 than yours Byzantine.
lol.haz
nah.... the hoity-toities amuse me
sweet, haz
why don't you join in the debate? ...
de 6/ 33?? help
so put fwd your philosophical stand point byz
Now, byzantine, what's your definition of a hoity-toity?
more of morning de*
de6/33 - first three letters, moisture in the morning, then make it a comparative adjective.
you do not preach philosophy ...... you simply complain and try to one up
you do not preach philosophy ...... you simply complain and try to one up
assuming you know what one is... ;)
if there was a dictionary of speech impediments...we could have 'diwect'
and for the de5/22, make it the past tense of a verb - well, really a non-verb
i dont think we preach at all...we are just expression out opinions..
And Jonathan Ross could ask for a hair twim
oh good typing ro..lol
Byz -- what's that on your shoulder -- a chip?
blah blah blah twaddle-de-dum
so why don't you put your point of view, Byzantine, instead of just criticising... you might make us think differently...
looks diwectly at rolin
All I know is that my dog is pretty big, my father passed 33 years ago, and I didn't see anyone preaching.
you mean wolin?
careful alex...i might get hiy tity with you
aaaggghh...
*shakes keyboard..
LOL!
can keyboard lose sensitivity?
so are you saying that you don't think grammar and mental arithmetic are important? ...or do you think we should all just shut up and play in silence? ....or...?
You've shaken it to death, haven't You?
just shut up and play in silence but when i need clues give me them
hey..haz.. its still on the desk and not impersonating a frisby...be grateful
Attitude of Alex duly noted.....
oh sure, alex
:)
hmmm... that sounds like a lot of fun, NOT...
how many words u all got already?
Thousands
zsssshhhh...not speaking
I'm done Alex
heh - only 49! Too much chat, lots offun
the fun is tweeking the snooty patooties
notices she's been playing for half an hour and hasn't entered any words yet... maybe Byzantine's got a point...
ive got 84 ha
go away, byz, if you don't like it
are you in charge?
order you spouse around; or kick your dog
ive changed my icon.....just for byzantine
wtg, wolin!
lol rolin, love that one.
the biggest insult, Byzantine, is that you won't give us the benefit of your thinking on the subject... so all we know is that you think we're gasbags, aeolists (thanks for the new word) and snooty patooties... but we don't know your view, or maybe you haven't got one...
rolin Nice one!!!
why would someone resort to fecal matter .... how utterly juvenile and silly
oooohh.....whos getting all hoity toity NOW!!!...
what have we here? a large troll?
Why would someone call people names and have such a negative attitude .... especially here where everyone gets along...
extremely large jilli
and you actually went looking for the bathroom icon
Byzantine Shouldn't that be faecal?
I can't think of anything more snobbish that you treating us not worthy of hearing your opinions... ...time I started looking for some words...
Maybe it's ignoring time
nah...not a troll...just some one who take him/herself a little too seriously i think
hey hey
No, I think Byzantine just likes to stir things up then watch the agitation.
i love all you regulars , but the rest of the chat is getting boring thanks to byzan, so im off take care all
instead of talkin cr/4 18 can u give me some help
so long, Rlee, better luck next time
the snobocracy has put the horns on
its true..lets award byz troll status after all..and just chat while playing eh?
don't let this put you off, Rlee... see you again soon :)
it happens Jilli , going to go play wow
r there loads of 8 letter words?
Best thing to do with trolls is just ignore them.
There are 6 x 8 Alex
ive got one of them
6 of them Alex

can u help me
re8/50 - got the paper ready for publication again
Hey, thanks, haz!
I have tw8/60 the next age after teens I don't have the cr8, can you clue that one Alex?
redicted
the person who dwells in a house or apartment for the re 8/45
saphyre - I know you're right, but I can't resist debating issues... it's just so frustrating when the other person won't debate... a bit like the famous Monty Python sketch...
lol
and the we8/65 which is a strange extenton of the we5/20
You're welcome Jillibus. (Weren't you in bed?)
I know Sherb but ignorance is ignorance and trolls are just that
cr8 - past tense of the opposite of debit
poor baby .... passes out tissues and a case of Beanos
Well, haz I pretended I was going but I lied to myself
mitch...past tense of what happens to money put into your bank account
thank u
and of course that one is a mensa with her snout as pointy as a cowlick
Just got it thanks rolin and that has put the 8's to bed.
Man: Is this the right room for an argument? Other Man:(pause) I've told you once. Man: No you haven't! Other Man: Yes I have.
Besides Byz is probably just upset because he/she doesn't know the times table :)
im missing one..have cr..re x 2..tw..we
you need the si 8/45
fmitch have u got cr8 yet?
Don't argue! I'M not arguing. Yes, you are...
M: An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition. O: No it isn't! M: Yes it is! 'tisn't just contradiction. O: Look, if I *argue* with you, I must take up a contrary position! M: Yes but it isn't just saying "no it isn't". O: Yes it is! M: No it ISN'T! Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says. O: It is NOT!
any clue to go with that saphyre???
Yes thanks Alex
keep on proving my point you are so good at it
*shuts up and starts looking for words... ;)
si* of beef & ritual
I only have one re8 - the newspaper one - any hints for the other?
sherb..ya gotta love the minds behind MP..i have t see spamalot when it comes here

Good morning fellow Babblers......are we all happy today??

yes rolin
Good morning Flask - this is a fun gr4/7 so far.
Hi Flask
in fine form, Flask... morning :)
tickety boo..flask
too right, rolin -- but it's too much fun here - no caffeine, please -- this is enuf stimulation
Oh Rolin.......one of my favourite words!
i had never heard of it..til i came here to work at my present school...a mate of mine uses it all te time
Oh its a lovely word....lol...
flak - just re-read your profile and it says if we want to know more, "feel fee to ask me" so how much is the fee? LOL
need coffee - be right back
Oh Jilli.....you are awful....but I like you.;)...lolol
ye gods, saphyre, what are you doing up at this hour back east?
its only 20 to 5
Flask -- didn't mean to call you flak - sorry! <VBG>
scv - 20 to 5 am? pm? where?
thats ok!
am, new york.. or maryland in saphyres case
well than, what are you doing up at this ungodly hour?
*then
haha, im sorry. didnt mean to interrupt your conversation
im always up late like this, but it isn't normal. so i'd definitely be curious about anyone else.
no interruption. I just thought I was a nightowl, but I don't hold a candle to you (pun intended)
haha.
well thats the top row greyed out!....lol
Of course, NY is the City That Never Sleeps, right? Or are you in Rochester r something we5/10?
Oh Flask -- I haven't even tried the Os
a little further east of the city on long island. about a half hour, a little under out.
oh they are related....so don't worry!
scv - I used to live in Forest Hills
Don't leave out the o words.
oh i just got them, haha. thanks for drawing my attention there, flask
oh really?
is there a way that i can find out yesterdays answers?
Morning! Good clue, Haz. :)
yes, in FHGardens, a long time ago
Alex, if you go to archives, press on one of the names at the top of the list with full points, that should give you their word list.
Good morning, Biltong.
i'm just about on the nassau/suffolk border
Hi Biltong
Thanks fot the O hint, Haz!
oh what a lovely day it is today!!! morning all x
Hi, M3
Morning, M3!
You're welcome jillibus. At this rate, you'll be done before morning.
morning M3 :)
it feels like the words are coming too easily
Chuckle, Haz, it's already morning - 10 to 2, and I really am going now thatI have the top row greyed out and all the 8s (but only 3 7s so far!) -- nite all!
though i'm sure ill hit a wall after the obvious is out of the way
Good night, jillibus - sleep well!
nite jilli... sleep well :)
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
scv - just enjoy the words when they're coming quickly. We'll all hit a wall eventually.
and as you said that Haz, it came up stright in front of me:(
Oh dear - have I jinxed you?
Probably, can you spin round 3 times and give spangle a teat to unjinx me?
dont worry, ill be there as soon as im done adjusting all the words i already have
I'll try, but if I'm sick, I'm blaming you.
*treat even lol
Done. Did it help? (Head still spinning)
Dives back into the gr4/7 to see if jinx has gone
Yup it word, thanks Haz
Spangle is interested in this new scheme.
oh now they're just making these up
mi5/22 form of insectiside, use the tile count to guess where the word ends up.
lol re Spangle
Thanks for the insecticide. I had wondered if that tile was going to be used.
it gets used once to start a word and is used in a d5/22 as well
I've only just noticed that there's a word beginning with x. I'll have to start looking for it and the d5 as well.
mitch...that d clue...is it not d5/24?
not that i can find it
Look at that, you spin round and give your dog treats for someone, and then they give you wrong clues....
Now now, de5/22 think pop group
aahh...i apologise..5/22 it was
Sorry Fmitch - it was rolin made me do it.
HeHe
yeah..yeah...always blame a teacher..lol
Come On Eileen! Good morning, folks.:)
Good morning Jacula!
Morning Jacs :)
hey jac
i dont think i've used the F yet.
in 75 words.
seat filler?
So your list is fr4/7 of f words
scv - there are 8 that come off the f on the left and none from the right
haha, i hadn't even bothered with the one on the left
and it was, yes :)
yeah i was looking at the one on the right. and after i said it i realized it was probably of no use.
Argh! I only came in here to get the grid and I've typed in 22 words already. Must go! Have to go out. BBL. Happy Babbling, all. x
It's besieged by the other consonants. The other f has much more liberty.
Later Jacs
yeah. im pretty tired and didnt think that through, i guess
Bye Jacula. have a good day.
Byee.xx
Ok I'm back , does anyone need clues?
bye Jac
ok..so with 55 left ive hit a wall
Hi saphyre, how about 145 of them, LOL...just kidding
time for a list methinks
i keep looking for a word, like the one missing letter will magically appear.
Just start asking Papp
definitely time for bed.
Do you mean you're hallucinating about the magic letters, scv?
lol, no.
oh, it's ok. i've just started and I'm going to work on it for about 45 minutes before I have to go to work. I'll peek at other requests. Thank you
:)
i mean..i really want gradient to be a word in this grid. it's killing me.
entice is enticingly close as well.
true
just back from Quote Puzzler... anyone else played that yet?
That has been my phantom too
No, sherb. Is it addictive as well?
sherb, what kind of game is that?
not yet sherb
But I found the "whole thing" instead
does anyone ahve the ce7?
It's a bit like an old French coin, but with a different vowel ending
www.quote-puzzler.com... there's about 6 or 7 games, all words and letters-based, takes about 15 mins to play the lot... looks like it could be addictive...
penny & clock reading minus last vowel and add another vowel
great clue, thanks
thx
I'll have a look later on, sherb. If it only takes 15 minutes it can't be too harmful....
Famous last words!!
I know. But maybe I'll be useless at it and be too annoyed to go back. In the meantime, I'm going to take a short break from this and venture into a very blustery day outside.
See you later Haz
later Haz :)
bye Haz
ok..the middle of the de's...theres a 5/14 and a 6/27 help?
the one that I have is to melt that cold hard stuff from a plane's wings in the winter
cubes you play crap with but add a vowel in the middle
the one that I have is to melt that cold hard stuff from a plane's wings in the winter
ooh, I like your clue better

pappou - kind of like Cr--- Clearwater Revival
ah, thanks
oh, and hi all. Have been lurking for a while. Somebody tell me please what the x is - the only x-word I know is xenon, and that's not it
etid
nah
amanda - x plus a man's name.
nvm - monkeyed it. Xe**** xe xred?
good morning all
xe5/22 - X plus Mr Clapton
now I know two x-words!
Thanks for the X clues, now I can stop with 77 words to go, time to take my car in to the shop and on to work, Everyone have a great babbling day!
You'll know a musical instrument as well, amanda.
it coooled down last night and was wonderful!!!!!!!!!
does anyone know if they will tint windows if it's raining?
oh, that's right Haz. I do know that one. Btw, does anyone know the diff. between that and a marimba?
pap, i have no idea. tint your car windows? why?
I have a new car and need the side windows tinted, it gets awfully hot here in Florida, it helps cut the glare
oh good idea. we have our tints in the glass at manafacture, but we have laws on the % of the tint.
m3, we have laws too, I'm having them tinted just a tad darker than what the manufacturer puts on. I'm taking it to the dealership. Everyone, bye
great idea pap. have a good day x
are the laws sensible, like you have to be able to see out, or big-brother laws, like the cops have to be able to see in?
whats the lowest total word count for a babble puzzle?
both.
jsut looking up the law the in the US it depends in what state you live in. !!!!
are found it , if your interested lol xThe legal position is that the front side windows on all cars must allow 70% of light to pass through them. That figure also applies to the windscreens of cars first used before April 1985; any car first used from then onwards has to let 75% of light through the windscreen.
anyone have the di5/14 & 6/24 between "gambled" and "perished"?
the only i 5/14 = scrap of the car in the winter
i need those too
oh thats de sorry
di5/14 - this was a nickname my mother had for me.di+ short word for decease.
well no wonder I couldn't find them! Thanks Dianne, anyone know what they mean?
amanda - a diaper.
that's not a very nice nickname
di 6/24 pls

so meny words do not exist in the puzzle! Why?
Did everyone log off,no one is comming across?
I'm still here.
bbl have a good babbling day:)
Hi Dianne Im glad your still there

any clues for we 7/48 adn 8/65 please
im back...safe from the holiday shopping hoards... does anyone have the ei7?
hi rolin
magzel..the 8/65 is a strange pl of the 5/20
Im up early it is 7:am here and cloudy.
ei-- think ducks
we7 * 7 - odd one and many odd ones.
hey sprite... are you in france or amsterdam?
Lol, nice choice you are giving me there! I am in neither. Amsterdam is closer than france, though.
ok..im confused...i also cant get from the ducks which i have..to the 7
where are you at sprite?
thanks for the clues
I am in the Netherlands, in the Zaan region, where lots of windmills are.
rolin - think ei + the condition when your body can't process sugar (the ending).
*sort of*
perfect...thx dianne
That worked for me, Dianne, thanks.
phew - finished it off. Anyone need clues before I sign off?
Got to go - we have a signal 3 typhoon warning up and getting a cab home will probably be a problem. Take care all.
how is the weather there at this time sprite?
Not yet, amanda, but thanks for asking. I am only a little over halfway.
what about wi 5/20 and 6/33 the last 2
And congrats! hodag: we had a heat wave, and now it is broken. Rain, rain, and some more rain. Blissfully cooler though!
mag - misspelled color + past tense
Good luck Dianne, hope all will be well!
magzel..dunno if these are what you want...think fast you are quick wi6/33
and drop one of the double cons for the 5 - TY rolin
lots of luck Diane my best is with you!
thanks again, i got them.
so can someone help me with the et5 and ey6 pls?
et6
Good morning/afternoon again. Back to find some more words.
Hi Haz *hug*
rolin - that's one of the variants on "needle case"
hello Haz
we are under a severe thunder storm alert now,may have to get off line befor to long.
You too, hodag :( Best of luck to you too then.
Good morning Haz1558
where are you hodag?
Hello sprite and lynxxx - you've joined in since I was last here. Nice gr4/7 today - and hodag, all the best with that weather.
I did, Haz, and so far it is a very smooth g4.
thx amanda...very strange
Mi. Eva
yw. Bizarre, isn't it
thankyou Haz1558
You know you are a babble addict when words like et5 adn 6 no longer look strange.
Srat safe hodag. We've had some dramatic weather here too, but the heat is finally breaking this morning.
That was stay safe(-:
I'm glad I live in the southern hemisphere 'cause over the last few weeks it seems you lot 'up north' are getting all sorts of weather problems & issues - they seem never ending!
and youre in sydney..which possibly has the most stable weather of the east coast
I new that,I do the same thing often myself,Eva
I don't think I know any words starting X.
hi everyone!
sprite...ya wanna clue ?
Well, I do, but they are names.
sprite, i know one word that starts with x and it's too short!
Hi franmag
'bit further south - Melbourne. Fairly mild climate.
rolin: please, that would help :)
Frannie !!
It's a five letter word sprite - and combines a man's name.
x+**** the red...
Oh, I know one, a musical instrument. It is too long.
Well, I'm off - have fun all!
hi lynxxx!
lynxxx...ooohh sorry..i committed the unpardonable sin...and melb???...ya wouldnt call that weather stable..
bye amanda!
bye amanda
That 'name' thing worked. Thanks all :) Completely new word for me!
bye amanda
thanks haz and rolin!
Bye amanda - have a good day.
me too..jilli clued it this morning
And you all knew already that the X-word means: being deficient in moisture. I just learned :)
I had om7/36 to find that out, sprite.
of course
oh Haz - you keep me so busy trying to keep up with your clues that you just 'slip in'!
Got to keep you on your toes, lynxxx!
Can't help it, I always want to know.
You're quite right, it's only laziness that prevents me from looking up some of the words.
It's said about a very dry habitat. I think I will remember this one, lol.
grid is lagging again...just like yesterday a.m.
you mean gr4/7 cathy?
Same here.
You're right, Cathyar. It leaves you doubting if the word is going to 'take''.
i cant find the last te's
The te7 is the comparative for te4/4.
And the 6 is the 7 minus last letter.
lol..thx
Also very strange words.
And the last one adds 'married' for te5
yes found that one thx hazel...but ya know the jonathon ross reference earlier...the 5/18 sums him up...hes a real tw***
Yes, he's a test of my patience sometimes!
The F6/30 sounds disgusting.
hmm..not sure who Jonathan Ross is, but I don't see that tw5/18...any other clues?
good clue rolin, got it straight away ;-)
think speech impediment chiley... someone who works hard
chiley: it rhymes with less wet.
Jonathan Ross, a television personality over here, can't say his r's properly, so that he would ask for a hair 'twim'. One who attempts would, in Jonathan's words, be a tw5/18
right 2 w's to go and im done
LOL @ that attempts-clue.
OH thanks. I got it.
oooh..i have left out so many past tenses
Lol rolin, that will give you a lot of words :)
TADA!!.... thankyou brandyjack...and thankyou all for your clues...can i help anyone?
thanks haz, got that tw
yay rolin!!

Alex, when you are pro and you finish a grid, there are fireworks. Well, virtual fireworks.
Alex 115 words is doing really well, fireworks is what we see onour screen as pro players when we complete a game.
Congrats sprite
they had to do surgery to clean off those abcesses that were on my neck. It went well since I played my own advocate and got the Dr.s to do it the way I wanted.
Means Sprite was veerry clever and found all the possible words!
on right, i see without subscription, i wouldnt get fireworks/
oh Im glad it went well for ya
I had to battle to get out of the hosp. yesterday as they didn't want to let me go. I was suprised how many people stepped up to help me with that including my Primary care Dr.

Alex, if you click on people's icons, you will sometimes find how old they are. If they don't say there, perhaps they like to retain the mystery.

Bye, Haz - I'll try to time my entrances better....
re8/45-- one who re6/21s
Charm, I see you're a re8/45 of Florida. Are you prepared for the hurricane?
Chiley - we try to prepare for hurricanes all year round - mainly by being ready to travel north at a moment's notice.
we8, a bunch of strangers
hi everyone - I'm back and here to clue if anyone needs one
possibly people who canspeak klingon
oh i dont have the first re/8
I'm on the east coast of FL...we stay but we're prepared
lol, Alex!
sounds awful chiley,
Thanks, Alex. I can confidently deny all knowledge of klingon.
first Re/8 is to re-do a newspaper/publication
It's not SO bad. We gets lots of warning. I'd rather be prepared for hurricanes than worry about tornadoes or earthquakes, etc.
Just sound so horrid, waiting for it !! when was the last time you had one?
last year
the past 2 years have been pretty bad

Granny can't find any possum for the cookin' pot
Miss Hathaway! Get those papers in here this instant!
holy cow, hurshy!
our 6th grade science teacher made us all learn the words to the song though, that's how i know them.
i've never seen a single episode, yet i've heard the theme song enough to be able to contribute
Miss Hathaway is too enamored of Jethro's lack of brain muscle to do any work.
aah, i see..
it may be the only thing i remember from 6th grade science...

babble has many many bizarre words, it is a fact one eventually comes to terms with. one must make peace with enable or risk treading the swift path to madness
great clue, charm!!
fobunny??
yw
but no one can talk to a horse of course....unless of course it is the horse, the wonderful Mr. Ed. Go right to the source and ask the horse. He'll give you the answer that you endorse

Anyone got a clue for the bottom left i?
gr 6 , 30 anyone?
gr6/30 past tense of gr4/7
gr6/30 - past tense of gr5/16 which apparently means to cut
thnk you
<3
:P
id7/36 - if it ended in -al it would be the kind of tw4's who aren't fraternal
nice clue, vic
Thanks, Vicuna. I tried that as an id5 instead of an id7. doh.
That's what I get for not using lickety's clues
Glad you liked it. :)
mi 5,14 anyone?
mi5/14 - stuck in mud
bit more specific?
past tense of mi4/5 meaning mud
ne 7?
i dnt have that mi 4,5 meaning mud either lol
ne7/28 - I don't know if this is really what it's supposed to mean, but think of more like a thing you catch butterflies in
"the time to hesitate is through no time to wallow in the Mi4" ~the doors
;)
Come on, baby, light my fie-er!
if only i knew that poem youre talking about
anyone have the mi 5/22?
Jaime, add a lot of points to the mud word!
Alex, this is particularyl sticky mud and it rhymes with the four round rubber things on a car.
now i have the doors stuck in my head...hehe... *dances around like a hippie*
The mi5/22 is apparently exactly what Jacula needs right now, as per her 1:16 departure.
How do hippies dance? "My hips don't lie?"
yknow, all flaily-n-the-like
Oh, I think you're right, evanadine. Wheee!
oh my gosh alex, listen to the doors
*sings louder* "you know that i would be untrue you know that i would be a liar if i was to say to you girl we couldnt get much higher!"
Hurshy, don't encourage eavesdropping! ;) How are you, today?
i only need 2 more. the last de 6/27 and the ei 7/36? anyone have those?
i'm ok, thanks
de6/27 - having to do with skin
ba da bum... people are strange, when you're a stranger, faces look ugly when you're alone...
Women seem wicked, when you're unwanted...
the streets are uneven, when you're down
When you're STRAAAAA-ANGE, Faces come out of the RAIN!
thanks, vicuna, i got that one.
the ei 7/36
when you're strange, no one remembers your name
I don't have such a thing, yet, Jaime.
turn the 4 into an adj, jaime
"riders on the storm..."
k, thanks for all the great clues!
Y'know, hurshy, that can't be right, because I remember the names of some pretty strange people!
well...doors lyrics never purported to be scientific
True enough!
"i met a little woman bout an hour ago! take a look around and see which way da wind blow..."
anyway it was a metaphor meaning people didn't want to have anything to do with you when you were high, which is more likely to be true
I didn't realize the drug connection, although it hardly comes as a surprise. But I think even without drugs, with which I have no experience, it is an excellent description of loneliness.
yes, it is rather.
these N's are making me thirsty
or rather, i am missing an ne.
Why's that? Are you a ne4/8? The we5/20 ones are sg and pl of opp of golden ol---
nah, have those
and ne4/4.
(IN NA GODDA DA DIDA honey, wont you take my hand....)
what you catch todays theme in!
The only other ne I have is ne4/4, but I'm missing one n.
i was about to scold harp for quoting the wrong band, til i saw her icon. ;)
aha, then we miss the same one, methinks.
No, wait, the n I'm missing comes from the bottom and thus can't be ne. I have 5 ne's and that must be all.
ok so there's 4/4, the 5/6 combo, and the little creature, what else?
you probably miss ni4 change last letter of other ni4
Ah, ne7/28 which looks as if it means more like what you catch the butterflies in.
ty
im missing one N from the bottom one -- the 3 i have are all related (word, past tense, plural)
Yeah, that was it for my ni. thanks.
Eva, what hursh just said!
see clue for vi, evanadine
:)
Hi guys just stopping in for a few mim. then I have to cut the grass.
now if i were my sister i would make some sort of joke about cutting the cheese...
PEW!!!!
LOL - that makes me think of those commercials on TV - dont' know what they're for - but some lady is speaking and all this guy can head are terms like "silent but deadly", etc...
is there just the one fo?
can hear - I meant all the guy can hear
But your sister doesn't play Babble, and is therefore, ipso facto, the highly inferior member of the hurshy family. (It just occurred to me how silly a phrase is "highly inferior". It should be lowly inferior.)
*DUH*
lol vi
"muchly inferior"
I figured, CadFan!
Yeah, that's better, evanadine. Or possibly "mostest inferiorest".
but nobody in my family plays babble, so let's just say i'm highly superior, and then we're golden
Golden we are! :)
anyone have the ei 7?
Here's why Ida pulled a pider From her glass of apple ci5/14: A) to save it's life, and B) To have her ci5/14 spider fr4/7.
(Pulled a "Spider", I mean. Note to self: learn to type.)
vicuna: that's a genius clue
jaime, did you not see where i said make ei4 into an adj, or did it not help?
Glad you like it, lzhets. I only wish I could say I'd made up the poem myself.
I've tried a bit hurshy, but haven't found it yet.
yay! you rock, hurshy
i tried the last possible option, and got it. thanks for the fireworks!

everyone makes their own definition of cheating in babble - we're not compteting against each other, only against ourselves
ok, occasionally we do compete against each other

Blahhhg! I have 51 words left and don't have one single 8-letter yet! I suck like a Hoover.

judi, if you REALLY suck, then you're a dyson!
Are you seeing anyone?
tor!
i hope you didn't mean that how it could sound!

Can I be a Meile instead, Hurshy. Dyson's are so clunky.

I'm willing to suck, but I want to look good doing it.
i love my dyson, it's a think of beauty
ok i thought sure i'd tried that and it wouldn't take it, thanks lynxxx
thing, thing of beauty
thing, thing of beauty
=o
my dyson is a thing box of dust. lol
I'm a slave to my cannister vac (which is a Hoover by the way).
LOL!!!!!!! I have to vote for the Miele. My fave vacuum cleaner of all time! If I have to have a fave one.
well i had a hoover before and it just wasn't powerful enough to pick up cat litter particles. my dyson does it no problem. and dust BUNNIES RUN across the floor to get into it.
admittedly i have not tried a miele.
how quickly the subject changes lol
I've never used a Meile, Snowy. Are they good? Expensive as the crown jewels, so I guess they better be.

Seriously . .
How about the last ED, Hursh?

past tense of the 4 lady
oh oh oh i need the ei 6 too

The Americans AH....what wonderful people.
we buy bright yellow Hummers too Judi!
My point, exactly, Hi there. Don't get me started on electric pepper grinders or Honda Elements.
what? so no one else is going to stand up for electrolux? i have to do it all myself?
Weellll -our church has a Dyson, our church hall has an electrolux & our Guide hall has a Vax. -My vote is still with my 9 yr old Meile!
if my mom were here she'd join you helen
Mi5/22???
Honda Elements... a sure sign some American consumers are completely insane
I didn't know they were still on the market!
too much death in the grid today :(
dreg
we needed a sign that some american consumers are completely insane? i thought that was in the "smoking is hazardous to your health" circle of obviousness
dang nab it
lol hurshy - i get to liking your mom more & more all the time - the ballet russe & crepes suzette . . .
etirdstill looking for ei7 help... and ei 5 now too

nope - i definitely rmember ! it's your mom, . . . our patty likes to rock & roll, a hot dog makes her lose control
LOl see torgone knows!
yw cad
My parents were using my grandmother's old electrolux after they bought her house (this was about 10 years ago). I vacced with it one day and couldn't figure out why it wasn't picking up a nit of paper. Looked at the powerhead. Bristles completely worn off the roller. My parents were oblivious!
ok my mom did LIKE patty duke, but SHE is nothing like that. and really, i think there are fewer than a dozen people in the world who genuinely LIKE her.
TY jili ! :)))
I've always been a bit curious about her losing control over a hot dog . . .
OMG hurshy - that's a terrible thing to say about your mother!
well, i'm nothing like patty duke either
bit too much innuendo for that era, eh tor?
yeah, exactly what i was thinking as i was typing that
brb
i'm sorry helen, but i can't help it, i'm not a word mincer.
I like Todays Patty Duke but, not when she was a teen ager.
I am not a Patty Duke fan but I saw her and Anne Bancroft on Broadway in The Miracle Worker...quite an experience and a very long time ago
mincer
lol
I thought only I did that!
by by now!!!!!!!!!!!
bye hodag, nice to meet you

ah...finally got my last 7, that's something.
hodag minces off into the sunset . . .
ditto stid
go hurshy go!
hi stid -- 117 still to go and not much time today!
Poor Patty Duke. Her best work was playing Helen Keller when she was only 14. All down hill from there. Another nightmare child star story.
:-)
Hello, stidmama.
hello Stid!
what do you think, tor, does it make me a horrible person to state unpleasant truths about my mother so bluntly?
hi Vi!
and lynxxx! is the weather starting to get springlike for you yet?
honest opinion please
Not at all, hurshy .. It's the plain fact sometimes. some people are not very likeable.
ok
You can only tell its getting near to Spring by the irises and bulb-type flowers - otherwise wintery here
hurshy -- not all family members (as much as we wish and hope) are nice or responsible... it is okay to be honest about how you feel.
Hello to my fellow Babblers! How is everybody today?
Ineed help with the second ce4/6 and the second ce5/14 please!
Well, making progress, up to 123 words!!!
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
i treat her very kindly and lovingly, i'm not like a big meanie or something
Hello Minver
You could just as easily have said she had bad posture or something. You made no reference to your feelings about her.
Hey button
In that case...let me tell you about my brother!!
Hello Min.
Hi, Lady!
Hello, Minveryork.
well, at least there are signs its on its way, lynxxx! We are starting to harvest blackberries, the last of the fresh fruit to ripen around here.
hi Min!
LOL Lupe!
Yum
oh, Blackberries, I love blackberries
now *I* have bad posture. but i worked on it the whole time i was in europe.
Stid, what do you do with your berries
ce 4/6 is to surrender Buttonman. That's one I have.
fruit or electronic, lady?
She eats them, of course!!!
I really want to make some jam, but I just don't have time
Fruit, hursh
Min, I have that one it is the other one I need.
i didn't know there was a word that meant "to surrender buttonman"... what a wondrous language, our English
we baked a pie with some last night, will freeze others and make some jam and jelly tonight. They have about three weeks' bearing around here, so there is time to enjoy them.
Do they freeze well?
change the last letter, oh Man of Buttons
Isn't that what the Wicked Witch writes across the sky above buttonman's house?
MMmmmmm . . .Blackberry pie . . . .
lol
I love black berry cobbler
7...
yes, they do! treat them like blueberries. Sort through them and use only the nice ones (not the mushy ones) and put them in a single layer on a cookie sheet. When they are frozen, you can put them in a plastic bag and they keep their shape until you are ready to use them!
Sorry I missed your story stid!My husband kicked me out of the computer room so he could sleep. Are you going to tell another chapter tonight? I sure hope so!
Once you freeze them, can you go back later and make jam?
natch
it's okay Min -- I think I will tell another chapter tonight, but it will depend on how much more I get done around the house... I want to pretend to be a decent housewife for a change!
got it, now the ce5/14 please!
Yes, lady, and sometimes we do!
oh excellent - I shall go picking!!!
Have come to the conclusion that I also am not fond of DE words today... ;-)

Any hints for the si8?

Okay, jilli, maybe that's true. In any case, start with a regular US penny, and add the same ending as in belliss--- or generaliss---

thanks for the ce, vi -- finally got it, Guess I was up too late last night!
Well, gang I'm done for the day, its time to head home
Good-bye and goodnight, ladynoire.
bye ladynoire
bye ladynoire
are all those de7s and de 6s at the beginning related? I can't find them
jill there are three sets
the first de6 is to make up your mind, and the next two de7's are the verb conjugated and the prson who does it. The next de6 is an order, then de7 past tense, and finally de7's are past and present tense of condemning an action
no - not all related - two basic sets - one has to do with choosing, the other to state, positively & negatively
thx, vi -- I did find the make up your mind and will sort the rest out eventually!
Last call for clues from me before I try to figure out what to make for dinner!
ti6/21 please, vicuna
ti6/21 has various definitions all related to third things. It starts with what you do to your shoelace, + last 2 letters of frozen water
and a te5/20 that is driving me crazy
Whoops, sorry, I forgot there's also an r in the middle!
te5/20 - past tense of doing something or other with combing fibers, but if you've got te on one end and past tense on the other, you know what letter has to come in the middle!
vi -- I'm not getting the de "order" - got the others though
thanks vicuna, never thought to put a past tense there
Caesar Augustus sent out a de6/24 that all the world should be taxed.
oh, thanks. My dull head again! Have a good dinner, vi - a late lunch here for me now
Could I have a clue for the tw 8? I have the ones before and after it. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks.
Your head is lovely, jillibus! just go to sleep early tonight! :)
CR7.36 pls
tw8/60 - the Roaring Tw8/20
I'll try, vi! Going to a performance this evening, will miss the flip...that's my downfall -- have to have a peek at it...
Hi jill! I was sent home early from the library today so I've almost finished. Call on me for clues
The Roaring tw8/20? How could a 8 be only worth 20? I don't get it.
cr7/36 - Take what someone shows you to prove they're qualified, and take off -ials from the end.
Why were you sent home, Hetty? Not feeling well?
thanks vicuna
tw8/20 means 8 letters long, and the whole word is worth 20 points. In this case that tells you that all the letters after w must be worth only one point each.
the roaring tw is worth 60 points boaterra
Got that, thanks. Roaring, I look into it.
I feli wellenough, but jhad to keep trotting off, iyou get my drift, and we weren't so very busy
I get your drift!

Dorens, a dear friend said she didn't mind her age considering the alternative.... personally I am enjoying growing older. I like feeling settled.
Peri - it must be the first re5.14 you need, just change the 3rd vowel to the second on the one you have

and all that stuff about experience.....it does count for something

got 'em! thanks!
neither do I !
peri it is an RI she clued not an RE
last DE 6/27 is "relating to the skin" the 4/6 + an adverbial ending.
I need the last de 4/5 and the de 6/33 please
oh, then thanks stidmama for the ri6
peri, sorry I wrote the clue wrong *hangs head in shame*
thanks

me too peri, that's why i tried the RI and it worked
yippee lynxxx! (don't take too long though I am down to 11)
TEN
stid i'm at 21,m bu will take much longer than you.. (old age!!)
I wonder why it won't take the plural of the second de5/22? It's defined as a singular, so should be able to plural as well.
nine...
the last two et's are bothering me
re5/12 please
et + et + tiny then plural
the last two ET: et + "scots word for small"; then plural
I meant, et = et + tiny, then plural
peri, take the last vowel off the "to live someplace" word
thanks stidmama
SI 8 please?
two words, stid -- si4/5 + w4
still have 36 to go time for another break, reading a Janet Evanovich book
thanks c and stid..the old needle case misspelled?

darn it, I'm sorry, stid!! I meant si 4/5 + r4

How do you know an elephant has been in the refrigerator?
no ch, don'dt quit...i need the first mi 4/5 (am being dumb)
five
RE 6/24?
four...
I think the first mi4/5 is this: If I look up to you, you might say I adm*** you... take those last 4
have that
re 6/24 is your re 4/5 with a past tense tacked on
RE 6/24: an oboe uses this to make the sound (re 4); past tense
three...
see, i should have gotten THAT one
How, Byzantine?
go STID!!
Two
okay, the first mi 4/5 --- First word from famous book M*** Kamp (German)

dorens, ti7/36 is past tense of the ti6/21, that rhymes with what you do to wear earrings.
thanks stid, tried a plural of it,, not thinking of past
She had such a gorgeous smile! but her voice was kinda squeaky...
jilli, fo6/30 is fo + small biting thing
don't you think the squeaky voice was perhaps put on?
thx fran
thanks also fran
Congratulations stidmama on your fireworks!Hooray!
Her voice was a bit high, but she was made to sound that way because of the stereotypical protrayal of 'black mammy' types in Hollywood in those days. Also, the sound equipment made everyone sound higher than in real life.
maybe... hard to say. Charlie Chaplin's funny voice was real.
yw jilli and dorens
evening!

Yes, that gave me fireworks. I've been back and forth to the puzzle several times today.

I know -- really drove me crazy until someone clued it for me too
go pam go!
hi pam
2 left -- te6/18 and 7/28
go jill go! (are you asking for clues)
yes please
jili- put different endings on the te4/4
a small camping shelter with a diminutive ending, and then make it moreso.
another way of looking at it, jill: number + another word for "cravat"
hi helen keller!
the 6/18 is a ridiculous word; has it a definition? I clicked on teh question mark and none came up
that's dunnit! fireworks!
YAY Jill!
it's fun just signing on and seeing these clues for the more esoteric and hard-tto-find words...
yay, jili
I think it's probably scots for "a wee small place to bivouac" LOL
lol
thanks for the help = but as pam said, ridiculous so I don't feel so bad about not getting it ;)
what about te 7/28 or te 5/20???
So now maybe I can go to the beach - if it's warm enough...
te7/28 is more te6/18
TE 7/28 is the "more so" version of the camping shelter
te5/20 rhymes with the de5/22.
TE 5/20 is T + past tense of mama sheep
the beach sounds lovely... it's been warm here today.
helen! you still there?
taking a small break, back in a while.
i'm back
hey feather!
later stid!
I am back too. 2nd ce4/6 please
hey feather, i was thinking you could have used a luna moth for your icon, not a butterfly, but it's antennae look like feathers.
peri, change last letter of the first one to another vowel
thanks Fran
oh, good idea!
hmm....
yw peri!
nah, no beach - ony 72F outside with a cool breeze. I guess there are some here hwo are roasting and would envy that!
jilli, sounds very comfortable. back in Guam that would have been sweater weather!!
check it out fran
It is 94 degrees here and it is almost 8pm, supposed to get cooler in the next few days
of course normal day in Guam is in the high 90s.
Exactly. I grew up in warmer climes
wow, peri
cool feather! where did you find that?
it broke here in the Boston area--high 70's
just google feather and butterfly, find tons of stuff!
i hadn't thought of tying it in to today's theme
actually i meant to ask what you googled!
see, i knew that!
did you see helen's icon? it's hilarious.
lovely, feather!
i know, perfect! lol
pam, a good friend of mine lives in Natick
i can't believe the things young girls will do when they think they're in love!!
I have good pals on the Natick/Framingham line
nice area
are you on the East Coast, peri?
thanks jilli!
who's in love?
we7/48 & 8/65 anyone?
pam I am in PA
whoever made helen's icon is in love with alan
tomorrow's theme is "words from the gr4/7" and the icons are supposed to be clues! Guess we'll have to wait to hunt them up! (Unless we all choose the volcano)
bettyanne, extend the "strange" we5/20 with two vowels.
then plural for the we8/65.
I used to have a friend in West Chester...
i know, i can't wait to see tomorrow....should be interesting
they are we5/20 words.
As always, you're there for me. Thanks Fran!
yw bettyanne!
hahahaha jill!
missing a de7/40 - have the de+teared
what's with all of these "ie" endings??????
i want arrg to be in the gr** again
i'm looking forward to tomorrow's grid also, it may take several minutes to find an appropriate word to make an icon with. should be interesting.
peri - de + cr5/14
jilli, thanks, thought I had tried that one already
well, of the gr 5/16 from today is there again, I think I would be just green...,
not the teary one!
hmm....not bad, 57 left before i go to lickety. i have a feeling i'm going to smack myself on all hte D and W words i'm missing
feather, that's exactly when i went to the grid!!
and you will.
oh neat!
2nd de6/27 ?
i did find all the Ws before going to the list though.
i have 16 of them so far
peri, past tense of the de5/14 that is roll the di** with an extra vowel
peri - de4/6 + **e cream
th ones you don't have feather are probably the we5/20 ones.
oops I meant the 3rd de6/27, sorry
jilli, you did have the right one!!
i have one we5/20, means odd, that's all
oh - 2nd de6/27 - what they did to airplane wings in winter
i'm still entering words so far
feather, two more words build from it
3rd one is what I clued below at 7:02
got one to build off that, will look for the other in a sec

no one answered my question about how long it takes you to finish one of these puzzles
I have the threer you just clued Kenny
three that is
bean, i start at 8 am, and am here at 10pm
It takes some of us all day bean
i do it on and off all day, rarely all at one sitting
tx cad
You have the past tense of to go?
bean, i tried, but i didn't have a good answer. i usually pop in and out all day - takes longer if you're a chatty cathy like me....
hhmm
Bean, time depends. Some of them come easy and it's a 90 minute job. Others take a LOT more time (and help)!
bean, if you used lickety's clues that speeds the process up some
we 4/8 before the strange one and the 2 after it
past tense of go? was that for me Kenny?
did anyone clue the third ti6/21?
if you mean we 4/8, I have it
Yep, sorry, cad, that was for you.
have that, that's the lst one
i know..but i don't like switching back and forth..i try and catch the clues you all give...
You need those 3, pand?
I should say I have 3 we 4/8's
yes
Bean, do you open it in another window?
yes
Phand, the 4/8 is the same as the one before it, but change the last letter to the next one down the line in the alphabet.
all the we 4/8's are little + a final consonant
Yes, and the one after those?
Oh, OK. Maybe it's just a question of getting used to flipping back and forth. Whatever works for you.
Like the strange one, but without the final letter
Cad, what else?
could have sworn I tried that; thanx
yw, phand. What else?
just got a 4th we 4, now have 9 we's
the we 7 & 8
how about those 8's?
That's all the WE's then; what about the WI's?
freaks & we8
ok, i'm now down to my last two. i need that third ti6/21 pleeeeease!
Phand, take the strange one and add diminutive and plural on the end.
Hi everybody!
feather: "third" hour in the church day, sounds like what women do for earrings
Wi's - have 4/8, 5/20x3, 4/10, 4/8, 5/20, 5/18, 6/13
feather, do you have holes in your ear lobes? and wear P****** earrings?
then past tense for the 7
Boston Celtic player and captain Paul Pi****, but change the first letter to T.
Phand, did that help?
omg, lbd and stid....i saw that clue about hawkeye pi****, figured it out, and never entered it!

Hi Riemann! Meet Tom's cousin, Scrabbler! SCrabbler, Tom's best friend...
Min money+imitation sour cream
Hi Riemann!
CE 7/36 is the mexican penny, I think...
Howdy, Scrabbler!
cr + 2nd vowel + de4/5 (what you get in a fender bender)
ce 7/36= penny and a spanish sounding ending
oops, i read that wrong! I thought you wanted the cr7!
Well, Bismarck is close, isn't it? do you think it'll be there tomorrow? They really did turn out very nicely...
re8---check for grammar mistakes again past tense
lbdawger, what does imitation sour cream mean?
Still scheduled for Friday delivery. The huskies are making good time. Delivery by sled dog was a great idea.

we8= stranger than strange! and those that are this way are these.
night hodag
di 5/14?
Goodbye hodag! I will see you tomorrow in the chat!
*trying to follow lb's circles*
It was great! I brought my own archery bow to camp and I played life and death, which is a game where you go around as a herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore, and you go around and try to survive!
DI 5/14: a funny way of saying what babies wear to keep the world dry.
There also is poisoned water holes, which will kill you.
ei7?
EI 7 is "photographic" memory
and, of course, the classic Mission Impossible was really fun!
at girl scouts we made these kind of bags.
Sounds fun. Particularly if the carnivore has the bow and arrow. *grin*
in the background, we are hearing a trombone solo...
Stidmatt, what a great sounding camp!
I'm not getting the di clue
In my day, the favorite camp game was "capture the flag".
(and the best part was the kids were at camp the same week -- different programs)
I am thinking about that di clue and don't get it also.
hmm, stidmama, not in my background I'm hearing grumbles from hubby and carpentry work! lol
di + to stop breathing
I remember Capture the Flag!I loved that game a lot!
thanks ping!
okay, DI: past tense of "do" then a diminutive scots-style ending. wee sleekit wee cowering, wee timrous beast**
yw steph

Yeah! Capture the Flag was really fun, even though I lost EVERY SINGLE TIME! But it was fun!
I think it's about time to encourage the fiddle, though -- the chops need some rest..

back from scrabble.
ID 7 is ID****al TW**
that didn't take long, Fran!
id = think of twins, not fraternal, but id*****al

harp, i'm hoping for some good icon words in the next gr4.
Can I get a clue for re 5/12? I'd appreciate it.
yes... those!
I just checked all my scores, and I'm hoping for 5 stars from today!
boa, re + *** vicious
Hey FranMag :)
awesome nrk!!
hi boa!
me too, Fran! I don't know if I can make it till the flip because I have to get up early.
Which is a great change from last several days since back from vacation.
I was lucky on In and Out and Secret Word today
Ah, got it. Thanks :)
I hope it not just 22 words or something!
I never get the secret word
harp, that would be funny
much much harder for us to find icons, but still funny
re 8/45pls
bean, one who lives somewhere
a re8/45 manager perhaps.
I mean, what if the nouns are words like ANGST?
group of teenagers in goth makeup?
or gollywhopper?
angst would be fun to icon -- think of all the pained expressions we could hunt for
okay, gollywhopper would be tough, ya got me there
i think we're going to have to be creative, it's going to be interesting.
Fran, did you hear my news from earlier this week? I was just checking the log and noticed you asked last night if I was still on vacation...
i know...i realized later why you're here late, just bits and pieces though.
nrkii = jobless
which was going to happen one way or the other, by mid-August, because I was dreadfully miserable there
what are you planning to do? or are you just chilling while you look at your options?
well, i've learned from experience that if you're miserable, it's better not to be there.
chilling while looking at options is good description... I calculated today that I can live for about 5 months on what I have now, but after that things get scary... plus I'd rather not kill what I have now, so I don't think I'll use the whole 5 months
i'm sure you'll find something way before that!
though the thought of taking the rest of the year off is pretty enticing
good for you though that you have that option!
yep, I know I will, the question will be whether it's the right something or just going to end up in the same miserable place...
it's not in my nature to relax over this, that's the rub... if I could really be carefree about it, I'd be able to ENJOY this time
i read you saying something about trying to make money from your blog, i don't know how much people make doing that, but you seem to enjoy that.
fireworks for us!
yay paco & shelley
yay pacoshelley (which originally said "tat pacoshellet")
nrk, check out this network of blogs, the only one i can remember now is bloggingbaby, but they are always looking for people to blog and they pay.
hi all -- I just put a sorta chapter in BabAnon today rather than writing it in the log first. You can read it at your leisure.
they cover a wide range of topics, not just baby blogs.
thanks stid!
Fran, was kidding about my blog being a moneymaker, but the blog is making me write something every day, and read things every day, which is good for my brain....
cool will check it out
nrk -- be a grasshopper for a while. You will have plenty of time to be an ant.
stid, nicely said
just need the wi 4/10 and it is hiding from me
need to get my OM going to make myself chill
{{{hugs all}}] back for the flip later.
see ya stid!

Hi everyone, the icon theme link isn't working for me - anyone know what the theme is going to be?
bean, strange ones
i know some people who do blogging baby
saphyre, the next theme is an icon that clues a word from the grid (Friday's grid)
sweet
there's a new one called parents connect that pays well
wow - ok I guess I have to wait to see the grid :)
kk, thanx, that did it, Fran
yw uncagain!
do you keep a blog, fran?
hi ping! haven't been reading blogging baby as much lately, since babble actually!
no ping, i've wanted to, but haven't gotten around to it.

ty
Hi Jai - sorry
jai - i'm just hearing about this for the first time - really sorry to hear the news
i've wondered why you weren't around, jai
brb (which you can interpret as be right back, or bathroom break, whichever suits your fancy)
Hi, saphYes, Ping, Daddy died a week ago today of an anuerism in his thoracic area...he was only 71
did he live near you?
Knut and I actually did a puzzle together in our hotel room one night- it was nice to see Olivia
{{{Jai}}}

oh -- I bet Liv is getting so BIG!
No- I am on the Gulf and he was from Rockford, Il
i'm starting dinner and popping in and out, brb

Mayne are you paying attention?

Stev -- means "dry like" in a desert, one doesn't landscape, one XE**scapes...
xe + ***k springfield
Kahlua -- all family members still intact? didn't see anything on the news tonight.... LOL
brb, have to get the rice started, we're having sinigang tonight.
stev0, you get xe yet?
fran, that's very kind, but after all this ice cream, I couldn't eat another bite
yeah thanks
lol nrk!
hk whispers ' i have firewords' - but still on phone - shhhhhh
yay helen!!!!!!
There was a fire in the Port of Tacoma today, but my in-law wasn't in it!
lol kahlua!
oh -- I missed that, Kahlua
did you get there too late?
YAY HELEN!!!!! woot-woot!
what is sinigang?
it's a filipino soup made with seafood (usually), tomato, other vegetables and flavored with tamarind.
Fire crews were already there, no way to plant a body
heh, heh!
yay helen!!!!!!!!
mmm. we had seafood soup tonight -- more like a seafood pho (the vietnamese noodle soup) with lots of fresh veggies and lime juice.
we just use a flavor packet (instant sinigang), but as long as other ingredients are fresh it's great.
yum stid.
My computer is acting up today
instant sinigang... read that the first time as instant singing, and was wondering what song
Yah!!! MG
Did you get fireworks?
nrk, that was like someone addressed me as franmmag today and i didn't even notice the second M.
Gee Kahlua with all your course in the crim field I shouild think yoiu'd be able to do away with one feeble old man
hm.. must look for instant sinigang next time I am at the asian market...
LOL!
*girl interrupted returns, hopes to spend at least 10 consecutive minutes at favored babble site* -will the universe let her? time will tell
No fireworks today - stuck with 6 left and no freaking idea of what they may be
mayne, can we help?
what letters? what length?
oh MayneGirl, that is so frustrating for me when that happens!
There is something about Greg liking his father that makes me ....well....no do away with him
we can get you a couple in the next 3 mins...
Do you have all the 8s and 7s?
i can help mayne
Wow MG...that's a lot closer than I am
*fingers poised over keys, ready to help maynegirl*

hi muse (again)
hi muse!

*like vultures, circling, we wait for the flip....*
hi Fran, stid helen!!!
thanks Fran!
the ti 6 and 7 sound like what you do to your earlobe to wear earrings
ne6/30 opp of oldies
ne6/30 plural opp of oldies
te 7/28 - more canvas shelter like
ne6/30 is not oldies
