LOL stid - what are you psychic?
oh i have an idea !!!!
Thanks Helen!
And your idea is...
haha! the great stidini never tells her secrets!
icon up!
the theme is "what's in the grid" -- find an icon that reflects a word...
really? that's fun
guess i'll have to start
cool nrk!
rockin'
wow, later on in the day just watching the pics go by will be like our own personal clueboard
new icon on
okay, got mine
lol! have you seen mine?
babbler - thinking alike LOL
that is funny, BAbbler!
Fran -- I just found that one before you put up your icon!
LOL yours is cool, helen! I was looking for something like that! XD
curious... when are scores updated?
do you mean in the rankings, mu?
ok icon is loaded
nice saph
ok i;m in the grid so here i am
yeah, rankings.
good one, ren!
hi renner!
i just ran across this picture a couple of days ago when i was looking for the butterflies
oh this is such a cool idea for a theme. I'm gonna schedule it again! all in favour say, 'aye'!
Love your icon, Stid, found it right away
aye!
maybe i;m not a word, but i;m in there
aye!
aye
aye! Mine is up now. You should be seeing a character from a Russell Crowe movie :)
nice ren!
awww, Rennie! you look lovely!
thanks hetty!
love the mod sq***
trying to figure out what alan rickman has to do with the grid today though...
thanks babbler!
never mind. just updated. I guess the answer is they're updated at about 1:08 EST
ren! you're gorgeous!
oh is that who nrkii is? I couldn't view the bigger icon...
lol based on nrkii's icon, i think i am just going to add words going by the icons first for fun!
these are some great clues!
ren, you're simply gorgeous, in or out of the grid
yep, that's who I am
thanks ladies (blush)
aye!
and aye
right, we're doing this theme again 18 Oct! : )
ok got one!
yes, gorgeous and smart too -- renfield is the babbler I aspire to be!
i gotta agree with everyone - ren, you're a stunner!
so has anyone found the 8 or are we just in to admiration of icons....
hey babbler, i'm getting married on oct. 28, can i have an icon bridal shower?
leslie ann -- good one
there's an 8?
I've changed my icon but as usual it doesn't show--hope when it does you'll find the clue
hello all
oh congratulations, LeslieAnn! Yes of course you can! : )
yay!
there is one 8 and there are 3 7s.
hetty -- I see a woodblock print of a man with a staff...
when would you like the bridal shower? not on the day, obviously
hello taz
hetty, i see it, is it an si4/4?
hetty your icon may be similar to mine
right, oh any day beforehand, not that friday probably either
i am still busy checking out all the icons - you know, when i first read about this theme, i thought i might be lame, but boy o boy, was i ever wrong, this is great fun WTG HARPJANE!!!
I thought maybe it started with d.
i got a te7/28 and a ne7/32
hi taz...
cool icon LA!
saw that on broadway, awesome.
harp is one sharp chick!
now i see it jee!
shall we go for the 26th, LeslieAnn?
leslieann- i think that's a wonderful idea!! virtual presents!! oh, will it be a regular shower or a personal shower ;)
NOPE. my man with a staff is something beginning with d. And that's all I'm saying for tonight! Sleep well all.
ok! that will be fun.
night hetty, found it.
good night hetty... sweet dreams.
Good night, Miss Hetty -- pleasant dreams
Hetty, you and I are the same, I think.
good nite hetty
sweet zzzzzzzzzzzz's hetty
I'm trying to ignore big word clues for a bit, sorry if not chatting
night hetty
how do i put someone in under 'my friends' - i have 2, so i must have already known how at some point in time, but not anymore
Jee whiz, not the first time we've telepathized. Anyway there's nothing to say we can't double up. Night all.
go to the who's online tab, hk
you go to the "who's online" and click on the "add friend" link next to their name
go to who's on line and click on add to friends
helen, click on Who's Online and you'll see.
I changed my icon so as to be different from Hetty.
LeslieAnn - 26th ok?
night hetty
oh, i said yes that will be great! :)
oops! lol! ok.... scheduling... : )
nite hetty, chat with you tomorrow
good one jeewhiz!!
lol jeewhiz!
I'm tired, too. good night all, and see you tomorrow. BTW, wrote a chapter and put it up in BabAnon -- nothing too exciting, but wanted to keep myself thinking of the story.
thanks fran...
good night stid!
night stid!!
nite stid
good night stid, sleep well!

ok - bridal shower scheduled for Oct 26 : )
sleep tight stidmama

ughh I'll be back in a bit - these hotel guests are all drunk and obnoxious tonight
goodnight everyone who's leaving. I'm off now too, just wanted to get my icon sorted. Laters, everyone. : )
good night babbler
nite babbler
good night babbler, stid
babbler thanks for the icon clue
good nite babbler - i added you to my friends - a good idea!
Any clue on the starting letter for the 8?
and ty all for your instructions
suri is a word. it means imaginary child.
so busy looking at icons & adding friends, i only have 12 words in, lol
LOL LeslieAnn!!
I changed my icon. The one I had with Russell Crowe didn't work because Irealized the character name isn't actually a word that Babble accepts :) So ... new icon reflects real word
lol ch1212 - admit, still stumped by yours
hi - seems like a toughie tonite
you'll find it, helen, but if you want a clue feel free
yeah I don't see scuba diver
hi melon
hiya melon!
hi muse
lol jee
hi melon
Jee Whiz, it's a special type of scuba specialist. Then you can plural it when you find it :)
no tx, no cluing yet - give my brain a chance to get warmed up first
i'm trying to decide wheether to catch 3 1/2 hrs sleep before i drive the ex & my son to the airport @~ 5am. getting up at vs staying up until...
hi all, does your icon have to be a real clue...my son loves these, and it is in the grid (can we say grid today?,havent looked!)
not at all, seano! good one!
hi hk!
what is the word count , please
only 90 today
90
thanx
mymus -gotta admit, am not getting yours either, looks like a mourning dove to me
I am stuck on that bird also...looked for the tern, but didn't see it
nope, was a word in grid coz I wrote it down lol
yes no cooer today
melon - i'd votes for getting a few zzz's.
does it have to be today;s grid?
what do the tile stats mean?
how many words start with that letter, sunny
so if you have 4/9, you have 4 out of the 9 words that start with that lettre
or letter, if you're not british. which i'm not.
that's what I thought... but I didn't see the numbers change when I got one, maybe not looking
thx
just made up/monkey-ed one of the p words...
just found the mysterious D guy!
there may be more than one of that letter in the grid, sunny, it may be starting from a different one
does the icon have to do with today's grid or any previous grid?
plural it, jee!
lol mymus - i was thinking it would be in this grid here
no - from a previous grid
nrkii, just figured out your icon, although I had the word before...good one
preferably today's grid, muse! :)
grrrr got to go to work......why does it get in the way.....
oh, then I have to look for another one
or leslieann, in my case singular it
or that
Jee, I worked backwards on that pair too
lol sean - bye
dudn't it seem like dudn't should be a word?
sounds like something your icon would say, jee
I think you are right
lol jee
btw - funny icon jee
thanks helen
that c is baffling me
is your icon one too?
oh no jee is in for it now
excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me?
who is he?
*takes cover*
it's late, okay...take pity
*hk, sits, stunned, just shaking head, slowly - back & forth*
lol la
even the clues are tough around here
i missed the flip -- hello babblers!
ok jee - we all have our days - it is WORLD RENOWNED film actor alan rickman
do I have to look up the movie Blow Dry? Didn't see that one...and I thought that the way the hands were on the hips might be indicative.
hey debb
hi debb!
hiya debb
sorry, don't know Mr. Rickman...maybe I need to get out more?
i think it is ai 5/10, jee
and jee, most definitely NOT a ne**
hi debbinla
jee - chances are you've seen him many times
helen, what other movies has he been in?
he is one of those guys who's been in like 10,000 movies but you can't really remember his name
did you see die hard? bruce willis
he was the villan
robin hood? kevin costner
yeah, saw that one...back when I was much younger and before I forgot who was in it...was he one of the main guys?
sense and sensibility? hugh grant
Harry Potter, for one
did you see that tom selleck movie - quincy down under - he was the villian
yes robin hood - the villian
I know all of these other world renowned actors, just not alan rickman...
yes harry potter - hmmm villian or not???? only book 7 will tell for sure - plays professor snape
oh, and one of my all time favorite movies and now I've forgotten its name -- he plays a ghost
i promise to try and watch for him
villain
yes nrkii - sense & sen .... one of the few not evil roles
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000614/
ok new one on
nrkii - truely, madly, deeply
ty erda
YES
don't forget dogma helen
thanks
dogma, another great one
boy he's done a lot
voice of the depressed robot in hhgttg - marvin
and never forget galaxy quest!
eek, 37 left and i have 38/40 r-letters
dogma - yes - the archangel
that's 4-letters, not r-letters
we were trying to.....
LOL elph - that's a great movie & he is fantastic in that
33 left here
lol elph - never surrender
HK - i can't remember the exact quote, but i can remember the spirit of it. such a good one.
okay, I have defintely seen him in movies, just not taken much notice of him I guess....I guess I will have to pay more attention.
hey bj
there are 40 R words? I am so out of practice it's embarrassing.
no, sorry i mistyped. 40 four-letter words
he played the spock-like character in galaxy quest
phew, leslieann. that makes me feel a little better.
anyone want to clue some 7s or the 8 before i call it a night?
sure !! (i jus started)
leslie, one 7 is like my icon
he also originated the role of valmont in dangerous liasones on stage, but lost the movie role to john malkovich
excellent clue jee, got it
john malkovich can be very creepy
and that was the one 7 I had already...
sigh
jee what is on that icpn lol too tiny for these eyes
alan rickman also can be very creepy, but way more sexy than malkovich
there's a 7 that's - well - i wish the ATMs dispensed them more often.
what do they begin with?
click on it taz
ok *finally* just got hetty's icon, like an hour later... ;)
ok
did that work for you?
got it tyvm
phantom word "daquiri"
Alan Rickman rocks my socks! lol. I couldn't help but throw my opinion in here...
ah, got another 7, tx
bob roberts, michael collins, & love actually are other movies - ok, that's enough outta me :)
spad
hmmm, what does that 7 start with?
spark has most excellent taste in men :)
leslie: the one i have is a te/7
did someone say there were 40 re words? were they kidding?
no, 40 4-letter words
for heavens sake, no. i meant to type 40 4-letter words and my finger slipped
what does the 8 start with?
this puzzle is evil.
WHEW!
yes it is - i just hit halfway it was like pulling teeth
i just hit a third of the way. oy.
i agree elph
tendu is too a word, it's a ballet exercise!

how many 7s are there?
te7/28 ne7/32 ce7/32, ce8/45
thanks ache
ri + emergency call from ship but change the middle letter
oh, lord, C words. i suck worst at C words and words that start with vowels.
thx nrkii
ri 5/12 is a medical term for a grimace that looks like a smile.
just got the 8 - ce8 - a unit of weight.
tx diane - that helped!
yes, done with 7's and 8's
i don't see pounds or ounces

4 whole weeks, helen :) 1st week school, then about a week at home, and then 8 days to Germany with the family. It feels so good to be free :D
oops, sorry
wow - now that's planning for time off very wisely! and time to recoup from going away - that's always important
have a lovelytime sprite, enjoy!
have a great holiday sprite
Yes, I am really learning now. I am handicapped and I have so much trouble learning to accept that and take things easier. But it is very rewarding, once you get the hang of it. ;)
sprite - i hope you don't mind my asking, what do you mean by handicapped?
I have a damaged pelvis, so I can't walk or sit or stand very well.
omg - were you in a bad accident?
Clues are Up! Late buy up!
No, it happened when giving birth to my daughter. Which is 8 years ago now, so it is about time I am learning to live at a slower pace, I guess ;)
thanks sweet lickety!
Hi Lickety *hug*
tyvm lickety!!
ty lickety
that sounds like it must be extremely limiting & i'm guessing very tiring too - nothing surgical can be done?
They can immobilize the whole thing and I would end up in a wheelchair permanently, with possibly (not certainly) a little less pain. So that is not an option for me, lol. Best I can do is to learn to live with it. And seeing how stubborn I am, that takes me lots of time. I am rather proud of myself I am finally getting the picture.
well good for you sprite - i hope the pain is manageable
Any clues for the ur4/6 please?
well more power to you sprite! - a good attitude is so important to living a good life - for everyone, but much harder to maintain through pain -
Rhymes with guys who cannot stay away from their computers, maddie.
TY sprite!
i have to go now, bbl
Pain is a teacher, for sure. Not a nice one, lol, but a wise one. Thanks for all the kind words and sentiments! :) I am off to do the shopping, with my little girl. Wouldn't trade her for the world.
Bye MVA!

That's one of the 3 I haven't got, Verna, sorry
Its not just me then!!!
oooooooooo Haz - you might know the answer to this - I'm getting a bit confused about something doggy - does Frontline cover ticks as well as fleas?
Im being one of the words in the grid this morning Haz
I'll find out for you, Atalante.
ra6/21 = ra + another word for certain.
Thank you, FMitch!

TY FMitch!
Atalante - is she getting her passport today? I'm not much up on all the regulations but it is a bit of a paperwork nightmare or so I'm told.
any clues for the ai6/24 please?

MADDIE! They fly planes
Sorry maddie - wrong one!!!
6/24 is helper/males (the plane is other)
Male helper
I don't get it sorry...
How long are you off for Ata and where are you heading?
there's a plural for males down there, add it to a small ai word..one meaning the ether, the other meaning help
we're heading off to Germany and then Belgium - I'm going on a watercolour course that a friend is running for the weekend, then we're pootling back through Belgium for a few days just chilling out
Does anyone have si6/18?
Have you got your travel-sickness arrangements sorted out?
oh yes!!!! I have my super-strength tablets with me and I've taken one in preparation!
Sounds grat Ata, have a lovely time
I got 6/24 but not the 6/21??
We'll miss you - or will you get a chance to babble while you're away?

You did it for me, Sprite! Thank you!! I'm all done!
Got side traced by the phone
Ata! *hug* Did you send me an email back already, I hope not because I did not see it. Did my mailwasher eat it by accident?
Great, Susan! Well done :)
I appreciate the help, sprite. Can I help anyone before I head off to bed?
I still have 37 left, so I have to struggle on a bit longer by myself. Thanks for asking though :) Have a good night.
di 5/12 the first one any clues?
*looks horribly embarrassed* um. no. been having network connection problems and general uselessness problems. sorry. *whimper*. I *am* taking your email on holiday with me and hoping to doodle out some ideas :)
di5/12 is 2nd vowel, one hump letter, 2nd vowel
to stop breathing + direction on a compass
Nonononono.... that's not what I meant at all, LOL. As long as I haven't been so stupid as to have thrown away your precious mails with the spam! Take all the time you need, no hurry :)
loooool I know you didn't :) I'm just feeling horribly guilty!
And now I feel guilty about making you feel guilty, lol!
*giggles* oh dear. let's just not feel guilty :)

Hi Sprite. Hows the grid today?
morning everybody.
morning everybody.
Interesting, Preethi. A bit tight. But also some wonderful words. I am (for some obscure reason) so happy with Dr5/16.
Alex, if you are in extreme need you are in di*** need of something!
Afternoon everyone! Is the grid a nice one today?
Alex - is it the awful, extremely bad di4/5 which can also be made into a comparative di5/12?
howdy
Hi matty
thanks
If you can resurrect, why not surrect?????
You can have insurrection as well. Someone will know.
can't figure out the u word!
Buttonman: rhymes with the guys who cannot leave their computers alone. Darn, that phantom is bugging me no end, I thought I had found the 3rd 7.
i don't get it sprite
Buttonman - leave off the start of Miss Muffet's food
Morning all. I think my icon might be the clue to Buttonman's word quest.:-)
No. Sorry. Mine's a couple of ne words.
Lol, I think so too, hi Jac. I am thinking, didn't we have someone who's cat was named Merp? He is in the grid today!
Eva's cat is Merp :)
Sprite - I was going to say that. Yes, Merp is Eva's cat.
Yes sprite, its Eva's cat, the lovely big blackand whilte one.
Eva owns Merp, she'll probably be on later. Good morning Jacula.

Great minds think alike, lol. She'll love it :)
Cats aren't owned. They own.
True, Sprite.

anyone who speaks French ... (Sprite? lol) would I use prendre rendez-vous when talking about making an appointment with a vet? I never know which types of English appointments end up in the different French words for appointment!
I tried prendre too :)
dont worry found it
which doesn't answer your question at all, Ata, I know, lol.
Consulting my French dictionary.
Prendre rendez-vous pour - time
thank you all :) now I've gone past tick panic, I'm now on 'having to phone up french vets and make an appointment' panic LOL
Ooph... good luck with that ;)
du 6/24 builds on all the others. Sounds like worry!
Ooh, phoning vets in a panic is bad enough as it is, but to have to do it in a foreign language must be even more stressful!
lol tell me about it!
Fireworks to celebrate my holiday :)
en6? clues please
Well done, Sprite! Are you on holiday or about to go on one?
I once had an interesting conversation with a deaf person - it was done by means of him/her typing her questions into a computer, an operator reading them out to me and then typing back my replies to the deaf person. It seemed to work a treat!
Well done Sprite! :)

arid
katusha Di5/12 girls name - change third letter for another vowel
ar5 = Book title Mrs. Ar*** Goes to Paris
sorry
I don't know that book
In fact I thought about using her as my icon today :)
Rhymes with Paris, if that helps
indeed! Thnx
Angela Landsbury and Omar Sharif ch1212
That's right, FMitch, but did you know that Diana Rigg also played her?
frances,... a girls name?????
ok, everyone who has a grid word in their icon needs to give a hint which word it is!!!! FMitch, what is that thing?
No I didn't, in a film too?
Mine is the te6/21 madagascan hedgehog
Frances is a girl's name, Francis is the boys'. Mine should be obvious, (icon that is)
k, thanks! *off hunting*
love the colours in yours matty
yep, thought octopus at first, but then looked at the letters and got it matty
I think it was in a film. I googled the name looking for Angela and instead found several of Diana. Okay, hint for my icon: scuba specialist ... and then plural
got your now FM
katusha i for 'im and e for 'er Francis him Frances her !
Does your start with A?
The icon I hav now is of a short spined one, I found another one that looks like a punk rock version as it has long spines at all angles
Betya anything yesterday's theme was butterflies...
ch1212
yes, Frances?
you got it matty
ch1212 pa4/6 and pa5/14
you got them!
ah! thanks frances and ch!
Diana Rigg appeared in the film 'Mrs *****goes to Paris' - she played a French lady called Mme Colbert.
i'm not having good luck with the grid today
pa4/6 and plural its what you write notes on plus a vowel then plural
mattygroves, I see we are illustrating the same word.
Ah, that explains it, Haz! Thanks for clearing that up. I've read all the books by Paul Gallico -- that series is a favorite
someone help with the first di5 please
ra 6?
german for your
Doh of vcourse she did, she was in the film with Angela etc. Hi and thanks Haz
phand - who is that to?
No trivia too trivial!
mornin babblers!
good morning, time to change my icon!
hi harp! Didn't see you icon yesterday -- love it!
German for your would start de.
ok swap the vowels
lol evanadine! i knew what your icon was right away!
So we are, Vic!
cj25 that was for you; apparently you need to switch the vowels for the german your di5
its subtle, i know. ;)
thanks :D
yw; I need the ra 6 pls
I got your profile, Evan!
and if you have even more of my icon, you have the N7 ;)
I am still stuck on the first di5,12,.... is there another hint besides a girls name????
german your; swap the vowels
di5/12 - first three letters 'to expire' then first two letters of what fishermen use to catch fish
Evanadine, I had to refresh about 5 times to make you stop being a butterfly, but now... thanks for the n7! :)
ok, I'm all dressed up and ready to play now!
eww, i hope nobody chooses the su5/12 as their icon
lol harp!
im starting to wish we had saved this theme for a day with more words! cause ive only found 22 as it is...heh
Or - di5/12 - The late Princess of Wales' name, replace the a's in her name with the second vowel.
haz - good clue.
(* fails to find anything eww-worthy about "more certain" and starts looking feverishly for another su5/12*)
I hope it helps katusha!
finially...... thanks everyone!
hehe vic. it's similar to something with a fringe on top, but means something totally different
24 to go
same thought here Vic
and it has a pl too
oh, thanks FM, i forgot to plural it!
gross! Just found that su
i need ra 6/21 and re 6/18 pls
yeah, i def. dont wanna see that!
re6 is the te6/18 backwards
the EC 4-5 combo would be really easy to do for an icon...but it would be pretty dull!
need that one too
ooo, thanks eva
re6/18 is an ingredient of cheese. It ends in the afore-mentioned fishing equipment. ra6/21 adds a word of certainty to make a close shave
Thanks, feather. Probably not pretty!
Hello, Babblers! How many words today?

Hello Jen!
thanx Haz got them
We have an unwritten contest in our family, I was trying to beat out my sister who paid $15 for her wedding dress as a Gunne Sax factory outlet. She won.
that would be hard to beat
chch, what letter is your icon cluing?
how's your day going, haz?
It makes a refreshing change from girls trying to outdo each other with how MUCH they spend on a wedding dress.
okay harp, you know we're going to ask you to post a photo now :) My icon is a scuba specialist, and then you can plural it
Binliner is cheaper :-)
hi all
hi, nrkii
hey nrkii!
It's fine, thanks. I've spent some time doing housework so I feel less guilty about sitting here!
Yes, CJ25, and it doesn't get wine stains, either!
Hello, nrkii.
nrkii, which one is your icon?
and its waterproof
lol, don't mention housework -- I'm trying to ignore it! :)
en6?
It's the Mod Sq5
oh! i didn't have that yet!
But you do have to be careful not to let infants put it over their nose and mouth as suffocation may occur...
I had been ignoring it - apart from the laundry which I like doing anyway.
Chinese for quiet: sirence
cj25, to put up with, to last through
you wont if you are wearing it
me, too, haz -- I make my husband do the dishes, though
thanks

yw (this doesn't mean the brain is awake yet....)
We also went through RCIA together and joined the Catholic Church. A lot of people assume one of us joined in order to marry the other. Not so.
Howdy harp!
harpjane, I did RCIA several years ago myself
harpjane, I did RCIA several years ago myself
errs
would the 8 be related to one of the 7s? if so, i need both of em.
Oh harpjane, I'm smiling at you -- what a wonderful story! My beloved (as I think you already knew) was in the monastery and then left. A lot of people assumed he left because of me, when in fact we didn't fall in love until well after. But we had been close friends for several years.
:)
Crap!
All my angst about what church I should attend is gone now.
evanadine, ce 7 and 8

plural of wha = ait we breathe
ooh, do we get to enjoy it in the jaccuzzi??
I would think that most people naming their daughter Lorelai these days got the name from The Gilmore Girls, and probably aren't too familiar with the other references...
pl of what we breathe
Fiz, you think of the via dolorosa and realize some sadness is beautiful and achieving
Fireworks!
the ur word rhymes with words
t + the UR word = poo. :D
ok, hetty, i give in. i myself have the good luck of being named Jennifer Felicity - graceful happiness...
Yeah for Angel!!!
yay angelsong!
ooh, whats my name mean?? Samantha Jane
lol eva!
Butons, the ur wprd is new to me--i'ts the name of a race of mideastern people without their initial "K"
Hooray Angel!
here's the deal - i'll look up names if you clue all the words i'm missing again later...
Hi again...does anyone have any of the ai6 words please?
thanks KAT!
thanks caitlyn :) and Yay for angel!!\
ill clue you in for what ive got Fiz -- still working on 29 of them myself. :)
jee--they end in male plural
jee -- ai6/21 = guys who fly planes
any clues for the two pa words?
Please, I'm missing the second re4--anyone?
ai6/18 -- what we breathe + plural "doer" ending
ai6/8- pl of ai5/10 ai6/21 - adult males who fly ai6/24 - adult males who help
hetty -- second one i have is what you pay to live somewhere
samantha = listener, jane = got is gracious
I have re4/5 - plural of a sleep stage
thanks vicuna...i was still needing the fish for the ai6/18
the 2 pa words are sing and pl of a term without defn--start with friend (pa) and end with beginning of the famous Princess's name
*god
thanks everyone for the great ai clues
Fiz - I'll help if I can.... name is Elisabeth Louise (note, s not z)
pa4/5 - sounds like peppermint pa*** or hamburger pa***. Plural for the 5
hrmmm...not sure if that describes me or not...heh... i do think im an ok listener though....
evan, I have that re4, in my list it's the fourth. I need the second
elisabeth = consecrated to god, louise = famous warrior. i like that one.
eva, maybe it was wishful thinking on your parent's part.
dr5,16??????
I'm puzzled. my ranking under 'who's hot" was 1029 for a long time, then it was 1,030 for a couple of days, then back down to 1,029. yesterday it was 1,030 and today it's back to 1,029. it doesn't make sense to me.
katusha, look at my icon
actually, thats not even the name i was given when i was born...my parents named me Samantha Jane when i was adopted... my birth name was Cheryl Rose -- whatcha got on that one??
angel...mine has been 1921 for over a week, but I've finished every day... i have seen people who were below me go up above me and yet i have consistently completed. no sense whatsoever
hi everyone! fiz, can i play the name game too?
in Hebrew, Elizabeth means, "God's gracious gift."
that was supposed to be 1021....
and hi feather
everyone can play feather - evanadine, let me check...
good morning, all!
hey stidmama
Morning stid
ok, my full name is heather leah-anne
wow stid -- you rhyme with your icon. ;)
god gave lots of gifts...theodore is gift of god as well..doren (my name) just means gift...
Doesn't your score have something to do with how quickly you complete the puzzle?
yeah -- it was the first word I saw, thought it was kinda funny...
cheryl= beloved, rose = self explanatory. that's sweet.
Hey Stid, Love you
My husband's name is gift of God too, Matthew
like some one that hangs out his clothes??? I have that... your icon isn't very clear....
well, that is kinda nice...
*warm fuzzy feeling* thanks hetty!
i thought it was points. and haven't heard that points are given for speed....hmmm?
wow, so is my husbands name.. john.. Gods gracious gift.
got the p's thanks
God was very generous
Jaime, the difference is Greek instead of Hebrew
heather = heather, leah = weary, anne = full of grace
{{{{Stid}}}} IM is up
do any of you gift of gods have the ce5/12? I am Joyce Elaine...
check your IM daisy...
hetty - TY
heh, so i'm a tired graceful flower!
feather, it sounds like your feather is appropriate
ce5/12is what an aria would be sung in chinese
sorry joyce, don't have
ce5/12 - add small river (first 3 letters of r4/4) add the whole r4/4 for ce6/21
hetty is that clue greek for chinese?
joyce = rejoicing, elaine= light. that's lovely.
My name is so awful i dont think it can be a gift from God!!
There is a list in the archives of the scores players received for each day - in order of when they completed the puzzle so I think speed is a factor somehow.
bugsy, your clue was helpful...thanks...thanks hetty too even though I wasn't up to chinese today
Jeewhiz--simply add the end of the operatic song to your ce
caitlyn, is it in fact caitlyn? form of Catharine, meaning pure...
artdr, we are in all different time zones, so I don't think the order of completetion necessarily has anything to do with the time it took to complete
I'm still seeking for the SECOND re4 please
Thats not my name!!
i bet i know a name you cant find a meaning for...heh
hetty - do you have the re4/5 - plural of sleep stage?
ok, well if you would care to share your awful name i'd be happy to try to dig up a meaning. and evanadine, try me... the internet is vast and wise...
so samantha jane, why do you go by eva nadine?
re4/5 - to tear
samantha jane----cement?
Okay...NO laughing in babbleland pleae..its Rita Doris!!I told you no sniggering!!
Vicuna, I have that one, it's the third re4 grrr
does anyone have the di6/24 please?
I just read the rankings explanations Vicuna and you're right. It does seem odd that the rankings are so confusing though even reading the explanations.
no, second on is re4/5 - pl of sleep stage
hetty you do have what we pay at ann apartment?
Eva has always been my favorite girls name... Nadine just kinda sounds goo with it. :)
caitlyn, if it's any consolation, when i hear rita, the first thing i think of is the beautiful rita hayworth
ther's one between it and the first re4 (re IS alway a pain)
so to me it's a lovely name
my sister in law's first name means light and her middle name means dark. she is conflicted :)
I like it too...it flows so very nicely. I have a friend that is Eva Nanette. Kind of similar.
my nephews middle name is Unai (a somewhat common babblet, no less!)
Dorens, that is the fourth re4=---grr again
Thanks feather..thats really kindand Jee Whiz
you have to tear?
rita, version of margarita/margaret, meaning pearl. doris is a woman of the sea. not too bad, caitlyn. were you named for someone?
The rankings add an extra point for each grid that you complete in the last 30 days. So a score of 1030 means you have completed every grid perfectly. 1029 would mean that you did 29 perfectly and did not attempt one, etc..... Or that you did 30 but missed a few words on one.....
hetty -- did you try the plural of the level of sleep?
hi! clues please for the cr6,21
wow... never new my name had such a strong origin!
no, first re is 4/4 pl of a camping store, second is 4/5 sleep stages, third is 4/5 to tear/...
My icon is my wedding dress, btw. the color is e4
emusing....boo hooers
emusing -- plural of people who weep
gotta go bbl
there are re +to be, the sleep one, re + gloria steinem's magazine, r + not beginning and the apartment pay... those are all the re's
Yes dorens. I have to tear and to pay for an aoartment and an re followed by verb to be--there is one more--please?
What does a ranking of -12 mean?
love it harpjane, see you later!
The Fiz I think my dad met someone in Gemany during the war with that name.Mysecond name came from lots of aunties who died early with that name!!
the sleep one?
I think it means that you are in trouble in babbleland
Harpjane I think the confusion is for those who complete every puzzle many days in a row and the ranking for them hardly changes.
the sl eep one?
hetty- don't you have what the eyes do?
re4/5 - pl of a stage of sleep involving Rapid Eye Movement
tor, it means you're extra special.
later harpjane (the dress -- and the lady wearing it -- is beautiful)
does anyone have the di6/24?
thought that had been clued earllier... i call it re + Gloria Steinem's magazine... term for female either married or un-
No dorens. Evidently my eyes aren't workig today
I thought so ...
or you ticked off dr.god
my middle name is Felicity - i'm named for my great grandmother Fanny - thank goodness my parents love me enough not to stick me with that!
thanks! i am so blind sometimes!
Fiz -- working extra hard on my mystery name? hehe
LOL TheFiz
re5,12, and re6,18???? pls,... help. last 2!
oh i must have ticked off dr. god.... i once asked about why mine had stayed static for a week or so last month
di6/24 - without interuptions or detours
JeeWhiz--d 6/25 Do not pass go. Go di---- to jail.
and dorens, what was the response?
bur I got the rapid eye movement bit, thank you Vicuna
Fanny was a nickname too, for her yiddish name Faygela, which means little bird. to this day, every now and again my grandmother will ask my mother - always apropos of nothing - "what's wrong with Faygela?"
evanadine - missed the secret name - please repost?
thanks vicuna and munner...that got it
no response, but it did go up by abaout 7 or 8 points a day or so later....then stayed the same for the week
Unai
(its a common babblet too!)
re6/18 is what calves have in their stomachs and is used in cooking to jell
looks like sushi - i'll be back in a minute...
Harpjane, Dr. God says the rankings are messed up. I have completed every grid since June 10, yet two dayssy ago i fell to 1029
re6/18 is also te6/18 backwards...
I stopped worrying about the month rankings -- I just like getting as many words as I can and watching my total points add up!
Katusha, id youn get that? and the re5/12 is pl of re/5
unai - male name, origin basque, means sloth. Hah!
Jeewhis--oooh you are clever
they sure are....my summer project was to get to 1030----have completed every one since last week of june (except one the day my grandaughter was born) and can't seem to get past 1021---but is that really inportant?
any help with the re 5/10?
I am with you stidmama, I like to watch my points grow....and grow
well, it certainly IS basque -- thats where his grandparents are from!
ty - now just re5,12/
hetty, I really got that clue from someone else in the middle of the night...so I cannot give proper credit.
*feeling self-satisfied with name search, but not with word list*
how can we help you fiz?
re 5/12 is plural of word before, katusha
and why we are on names, why are you TheFiz?
ty - are there 90 words.....?
while, not why
yes katusha, 90
I finished 90,... is that it?????????
howdy, I'm back
(it's her effervescent personality, Jee)
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be back to help later!
YAY katusha!
I am sure you are right stid
yay katusha!!!!!!
first the name - long and not interesting story....when i was in college i ran a housing cooperative that owned, rented, and maintained about 70 units in 3 large houses.
and katusha...is da bomb?
and....what's the rest of the story Fiz. I am not getting the connection yet.
my roommates/tenants thought i needed a definitve name - and for some reason they didn't think Jenn was unique enough - go figure...
anyone have a clue for re 5/10?
okay, I like it!
add a vowel to the previous re4
ce/8 ??
plural of ce7/32
so they thought it should be a solid start. it was during that horrible snoop-dog "izzle" time in urban language, and - my last name being Steinfeld, a couple of folks called me SteinFizeld, shortened to Fizeld, to The Fiz.
bekki, add an N to the middle of things
creative people
jee? Add a vowel? Am I totally dense?
so there you go. i made it my email address when i took a semester off, and it's stuck every since.
add a vowel to the end of the re4 klaurel
*ever
a unique story, for sure fiz...
and it is a great nickname, as nicknames go, it is unique.
Good story TheFiz
thanks - much more memorable than Jenn. great for online stuff, too, b/c it's almost never taken...
thanks, jee! For some reason I was thinking consonent! <LOL>
last te word? te 6/21?
my mind is blank today
how many words are in today's grid?
dorens, number plus short word for play room
enigma - 90
took me a while, but finally figured out the ce 7 and 8. thanks all.
thanks jee
thank you, klaurel
yw dorens

looks like a te6/21 to me...
te 6/21 pls? ok I'm here:)
do you guys think it's better to upgrade to pro with a username that's finished every puzzle I've started, or upgrade with a username that has played a few more boards but didn't finish one of them?
Correct! 2 points for fizzy
te6/21 = number after 9 + entertainment/play room for kids
also a long-snouted rat like animal from madagascar, if that helps.
ache i can't answer that b/c points are of no import to me.
ok, everyone ready?
It's actually a self portrait ..
FIREWORKS!
ty Fiz:) got it
Hooray fiz!
i can tell by the buck teeth, torgone.
and the petite ears.
I've never had anything about me called petite .. Thanks!

ok testing...
yayy!!
what are we testing?
hehe, Ache gave me an idea. I just created a new account so I can play part-puzzles and not worry about the score. ; )
oh I'm Babbler, btw
Ahh.
I can still see stats. Do they disappear after a while?
hey Tor-Tor : )
I think they stay for two weeks, unless you turn pro
why aren't you born under a bad sign anymore? I miss your profile.
ah right, thanks gwenski. well I've still got my 'proper' account for that.
babbler/daisy, how funny!

it's hard to tell w/o the alluring photo, babs/daisy
you look just like me!
we're twinnies!
I'm too tight to upgrade this account as well, TheFiz, LOL!
Babbler/Daisy Eric, be careful though, because if you don't play your Babbler account for three days you lose serious ratings...so I believe.
YAY Fiz!
LOL, oh Boys, I haven't played for months and my rating in the last column (who's hot?) is now a dramatic 0!!
Just got back. not many blueberries ripe today -- went to a different spot, so next time we'll go back to our usual.
but I dont' want to play part puzzles over there cos I have it in my head you drop off the page even faster if you do that. : /
oooh and hiya, btw! : )
hey stid : ) (it is I, Babbler)
Heya Babs/Daisy!!!!!!

I think I'll go get a list now... brb
I was in a particularly black & unfunny mood about a week ago, and I thought it sounded stupid . .
di5/12 looks like a girl's name, as in Di- keaton. just change the first vowel.
*rubs tor's shoulders with massage bar*
ok, gotta get back to work. everyone have a fabulous weekend and i'll see you next week!
oh, Tor-Tor. :' ( I know what you mean. Did you go, "bah humbug!" and hit the delete button? (((hugs)))

Hi everybody....how are we all???

YAY daisy!
hey FMitch : ) it's so I can play a few words once in a while. If I do that from my proper account, I'll slip off the page entirely (or so I believe) : )
Just popping in to say Hi to everyone! :)
babs, did i tell you i passed my citizenship test last week?? : )
Now I have to do things around the house while I still have p & q....
Hi Haz, gone back to my usual icon, was attached to my te6/21 but having identity problems
hi haz and fmitch! : )
NO!! oh wow!! Congratulations!!! *+*+*+*+*+* FIREWORKS!!! +*+*+*+*+*+*
....and bugzy! : )

Hi Lola and congrats :)

Hey lola!!!
lola - what did you have to do to pass the citizenship test? Congratulations by the way!
thanks! : ) one of my questions was 'how often do british children get pocket money?'!!! : /
LOL!! the answer to that was probably morning, noon and night!
lola, really?
congrats lola! did they schedule you already for the ceremony?
haz, i had to answer questions about life in the UK
So did you have to say that everything was wonderful and Tony Blair is the greatest?
were there any questions about chips, or trousers, or greasy spoon caffs?
nooooo, not yet walnut! I now have the right to APPLY : /
LOL
*pops her icon and pours a glass of cr4/5 for Lola*
blimey. more obstacles. : /
haz, of course! babs, no...but i would have been ready for them if they had thanks to you ; )
hello, I'm new here
ah. ok. :-) sorry, was thinking us citizenship. you meant british citizenship
happen to know how many total today?
Hi and welcome Karen W :)
Welcome Karen. : ) (I am also known as Babbler)
90 words
hi karen : )
90 words today
thanks daisy
How do we figure out the clues? What do they mean?
thanks bugzy! *gulps down cr4/6* : D
Karen, welcome to babble, take a look at Angelsongs resouce page down the bottm under friends of babble - loads of how to's and hints.
Karen, to figure out scores, it will help to read Help, above. Clues.... well, we are very creative here! lol
oh yes, Angelsong's resource is probaby the best to read first. : )
thanks!
And Karen - relax and enjoy the game. So many new players seem to get very tense and competitive. It's about finding words and having fun.
any clues for the 2 x P words in the right column? I can't see a dicky bird. : /
good advice Haz
Babbler - who suggested today theme for the icons - I think it is one of the best we have had and can I book it again?
a writing tablet is also a P* then add a vowel and then plural it
FMitch, it was harpjane (I think, check the list). I know, it's brilliant isn't it? I already scheduled it again mid Oct. : )
I'll 2nd that Haz and flosey
when I first started playing, i was OBSESSED with finishing a grid and getting high scores...once i got over that, i'm having much more fun (but I did finally finish a few and get myself on the Village Elders before I could relax)
I agree Fmitch - I love this theme!!
back again.
anyone got my profile handy?
(LOL!!)
i know my icon isn't actually a clue, but it is in the grid, and i have just read one to my son for bedtime
what do you need to know, daisy?
Could we buck the trend and make Friday's grid word day or something like that?
It says: Take A Word From The Grid - then our icons will also be clues Theme for Sat 05 Aug - Soda / Pop / Coke Theme for Sun 06 Aug - Foods You Hate
who's idea today's theme was. thanks Stid : )
it's not in there, but I know it was harpjane.
no, further down, in teh main body of the list, you'll see I credit people for their ideas
oh! brb
FMitch - I'm liking that idea. Everyone - what do you think? Every Friday - take a word from the grid day?
LOVE the idea!
Hello all
(LOL! I will soooo have to use my diary if you all say yes!) XD
okay, fyi: 04 Aug - Take A Word From The Grid (harpjane) - then our icons will also be clues 05 Aug - Soda / Pop / Coke (noblelover/hurshy) 06 Aug - Foods You Hate (hurshy) 07 Aug - Dragons (mattygroves) 08 Aug - Princess Bride (Douglas)

Hey Lola - I found LUSH in Chicago - I love it - so does my son!
I still am clueless on the AI 6/24. feeling very blind.
seano - I loved the Mr Men books! And feel very proud that you're starting your little boy on the delights of reading.
It's just been such fun today and so many people have joined in
another word for help + another word for guys
ai6/24 = help + males
ai6/24 - first three letters of 'help, then plural males. Same structure as the ai6/21

thanks stid : ) well, that's it for me (as Daisy). I'm gonna watch tv and have my dinner now. I'll log back in as Babbler and put today's theme in for every Friday. I think that's brilliant!. Laters everyone! : )

Oh & such a good story to tell - you should write it down so you never forget! We always wanted my feisty grandma to write all hers but-she never did. It's a good archive story Ren.
I meant re6/18 Oops
bettyanne, add a vowel to the du4/6 that has double consonants on the end.
re6/18 sounds like a smaller version of our babble friend ren.
re6/18 used in cheese making
si6/18 is the si**** madre mountains (at least i think they're mountains)
Bettyanne - si 6/19 First part of the si**** Nevada mountain range in California.

ty fran u angel
yw cath!
how do u find out what the words points are and the number of letters letters in them
skin, i just looked it up, it's an infectious disease, take the "certain" su4/5, drop the last letter, double the consonant and add another vowel, then plural for the su6/21
ponco, in the "friends of babble" links below, go to lickety's babble clues.
tnx
ty fran
yw skinhiller

LOL, safe journey Ren : )
ai6,18?
ponco, ai6/18 ithe name gf given to those who take or give the ai* pl of ai5/10/
careful ren!
**stumbles back to chat room after grueling day cleaning** Good evening all!
ponco, sorry, i mixed up the clues
the clue i gave you for flyers was for ai6/21
that was 6/18
sorry...had to go and settle a small argument between my son and his friend
still didn't get the ri :(
the ai6/18 is plural of the ai5/10 (one who ai**)
hi krista!
Cath is that the ri5?
tnx
hey my butt-kickin' Scrabble buddy - how r u today?
hi krista
fine krista! but baby has a low fever
Thank god..what an ordeal...fireworks here!!!!
yay chj!!!
yes...ri 5 anj
first the power went out here in downtown stamford yesterday at about noon
Hey Cath - my kids r arguing outside! It has never ended this summer. I'd think they'd be far apart enough that this wouldn't happen (10 ad 5)
hey do yall have any hints for this puzzled
fortunately i had already finished yesterdays puzzle
Aww, do u think she is sick or cutting teeth?
lol...there's a little girl in the neighborhood...only 6 who keeps showing her privates to my son!!! sheesh
she's sick, she's had a runny nose also
then, when the power came back last night, my computer went bonkers in mid chat..whoever i was chatting with my apologies
...and trying to grab my son's private
chj, that explains your expired butter.
cath, being totally serious here, she may be a victim of sexual abuse.
i missed the flip last night and didnt get my computer back until 5:30 this afternoon...im glad it was a small grid
dyin for that ri5 clue!
Wow, girls are doing everything that used to be boys' domain, aren't we, Cathy? Sheesh for sure. I agree with Fran - that's young to be acting out for any other reason.
cathy, ri + plural letter + you and me
yes fran i need to change my icon.. be right back
...like Fran said...
i've been wondering that myself krista and fran...i work for lawyers who have children's aid as a client and i think i oughta at least make a report so they could at least be checked out.
luvs ya fran...tks for the clue
maybe i just watch law & order SVU too much!
but i hate to be a poop disturber at the same time...could only cause myself some trubble with the neighbors!
It's not something anyone likes to do, but it could help her. Do u know the parents at all?
no...it is a sign for certain!!!
They wouldn't have to know who did it. Heck, I had a social worker friend who was reported, and she works for child protective services! Someone saw her being beaten up by her autistic daughter and thought she was the perp.
not met them...never even seen them b4 actually...just her dad. but u can never judge a book by its cover either.
your son is pretty young himself, right cath?
omgosh krista
only 9
sorry 8...hit the wrong #
If nothing's going on, they have nothing to worry about.
ok fran..a proper icon
true...at least it could be checked on tho...i think i just might make the call and let CAS decide if they think it should be checked out.
ah yes, ai6
I'll refresh, chj..kept looking for butterfly words in the grid. ;)
fran..i cant figure yours out..give me a hint ..like the hint for mine is ai6/21
i've forbidden my son to play wiht this little girl at all now...prob is...all his other friends play together with her too so it's kinda leaving him out in the cold
qu4/8 chj.
i think i WILL make that call...would hate to have my son lose friends over one child who may actually be hurting
ah..got it
Cathy -- it does not hurt to make the report. They may decide, being the experts, what to do with the information. I don't know what the law in Canada is, in the U.S. the person who reports suspected child abuse can remain anonymous.
Sounds like a good plan, Cath.
hey stid!
Nice icon, Stid
stid you made your own grid!
Stid's Grid
:-) thanks for noticing Fran
same here stidmama... although the files i've worked on at the office...make ya wonder how professional and expert they really are!!! it IS a tough job for sure...especially when they "apprehend" a child, but still...so many get away with a slap on the wrist that deserve worse...while others well...reverse the scenario
well chj, your icon is still a historical plane
i think i will at least make the call and "do my part" though.
Very true here, too. I could have had a free master's degree in SW if agreed to work x number of years in Child Protective Services. NOT for me.
stid, i liked our sq5/18 icon just as much.
inge, the clue is the people around the plane.
Guten abend, Inge.
yes, that was a fun one, too. But I was bored when I finished, so I played around in my paint program...
ty for that clue fran...i needed it also
guten abend, inge, wie geht's?
hallo Krista! Wie gehts?
No fair, stid, you read my thoughts
Nicht schlect, Inge, danke.
yw cath.
Ist die Hitze auch bei Dir vorbei?
Time to kip here. 'Night folks : )

good night anj! sweet dreams!
Jah, es gibt mir kalt, nun!

Not sure if I phrased that right, Inge. HIgh school German. :)
I had to look up Hitze it means heat -- wir haben wenige Hitze, heute war es eines gutes Tag.

i'm trying to follow, did krista say it's a little cooler today?
With your pure German name I thought you were a recent import, legal of course.
Hullo there everyone, I've just revised my bio. Stid, du bist die ruh-der friede mild
Krista is saying that she is getting cold, so Maryland must have cooled off as well
I was named for my brother's teacher who was Bavarian!
cathy, take the si4/4 , drop the last letter, double the consonant and add another vowel
Jah should be "ja"..been listening to too much reggae music. ;)
sorry fran...ty...but i found it...now looking for the lone sp

last su5/12 and su6/21
oh no stidmama....we won't press u for more story then
Aww, that stins, Stid. It's hard to take care of a sickie when you're feeling sick yourself.
in my region...there is a terrible terrible flu/cold going around
Fran, stop tempting me with more word games.
take carea of yourself stid, dont weant to spread germs to your listeners
where are all those extra e's coming from...
oh but I want to tell story -- I just feel like a bad momma because I can't do anything other than juice, tea and tylenol for my kid!
you are forgetting the love, Stid.
ahh...stid...it's hard when the kids are sick... lotsa lovin makes a big difference...the tlc makes them feel so much better
I didn't think anything was going around here... but they did get back from camp last week, so maybe he caught something there.
...and so loved
and lots of bed rest. Virusses are sometimes slept off.
amazing...the power of a mother's love

KEVIN JOSEPH ALOYSIUS “CHUCK†CONNERS Chuck is best known as “The Riflemanâ€, a highly popular television western series, but had earlier been in 942 minor league games from 1940 through 1952 less three military years. Chuck was born in 1921, was over 6’5â€, attended Seton Hall University, and played pro basketball for three years in the late1940’s. . Connors did make it to the majors. He was with the Brooklyn Dodgers for one game as a pinch-hitter in 1949, and was in 66 more with the Chicago Cubs in 1951. The big, left-handed firstbaseman hit two home runs for the Cubs, and finished his big league career with an average of .238. He was sent back to the minors, left baseball after a year with Los Angeles in the Pacific Coast League, and became an actor. The television headliner was also in many motion pictures such as the classic The Big Country with Gregory Peck and Charlton Heston. Conners died in 1992 at the age of 71.

And I'd never heard of Alan Rickman and never saw the movie Blow Dry, but had at least heard of it!
he played briefly for the dodgers and the cubs and also for the celtics of the basketball association of ammerica, i guess before they became a team in the nba
last night, we ran through the rickman filmography for jee whiz, who also was unfamiliar with this WORLD RENOWNED ACTOR !!!
thanks nrkii
