lovely, harp - have a great hike
Not that it's worth anything
oh sure, hetty!
Enjoy your hike, harp
Enjoy your hike, harp
lol hetty
and sexer is not in the dic
I just meant it was the word Harp had spotted
and there isn't an "l" for sexful. Ah well
Well the guy who sexes baby chicks is going to be teed off about that, jilli
some people see sex in anything!
only in grids, when my eyes are already crossed, jilli
what do you mean, hetty? It's a wonderful word! It's depicted in my icon, or you can do an anagram for a Shakespearian verb....
100 - 742
you go , helen!
beans, beans, the musical fruit, the more you eat the more you to4/4
speaking of sexes.... I was at my grand daughters ultra sound today and she will be giving birth to a son.... what a terrific experience to see what technology can do.... we all had tears....
waiting for roc to announce his score . . .
congrats blaze !! your first great grandchild?
how nice, Blaze. My niece just emailed me her ultrasound, it's a boy. She said that she was going to spare him the embarassment of showing us the picture that makes his sex obvious....
here's mine: 0-0
Lots of interesting anatomical stuff today!

All right, all you to*ters and far***s, I'm off to bed. Hursh, you can't be serious?
Yes, both grandfathers have the same name--William. One goes by Bill and the other goes by Fred (don't ask). But they're going to call him William.

WSl I'd like to know how you got 132 words in 15 minutes is all I can say. And now night all. Really
i don't know how to explain HOW, i just do
right about the oxer, Kahlua, but considering the "dictionary" doesn't even recognise "internet" what can you expect?
Nite Hetty - must be flying fingers of fate! Very imprssive
uhhh, chic thanks for another spoiler!!!! lol - that's ok sounds like a good one
what is the theme today - is it still famous scandals?
Too true Jilli

only lickety, as far as i know, krys, but haven't been watching chat much
thank you muchly that worked great
thanks hurshy. how've you been?
trone
sorry
oh, fine
darn had that one would have like to have seen the x word lol
from the last puzzle? the x was xeric.
this read like a dr. seuss book:
doxes and roxes put soxes in toxes
hurshey ity i must learn these crazy words
the X word sounds like that amazon type girl that had the show for a while about greek mythology...
i still have 0 words......good bye cruel world! i'll try again when nut isn't trying to steal all of the covers
blaze ty
but in fact, the X-word has to do with pollen transfer on a hybrid plant. from the latin for foreigner, perhaps?
Taz you are welcome
Nite, renny, you funny!
*-D chic..you know how the nutster is!!!
krys huh lolo
there, i've hit 200. that's enough for tonight i think
lol ren - nitey nite
oops just got another one
they do just tend to pop out at you don't they?
oops - i said a word - sorry
you did deb!!!
Blaze mentioned the X word so I looked up the definition since I didn't know what it meant, and then I tried to figure out where the word came from. It has to do with pollen going from one part of a hybrid plant to another, so I was guessing it was related to a latin (greek? sorry, I wasn't paying attention) root meaning foreign
tha's all.
there was a tip this afternoon from (Ithink) jacula on how to avoid our habit of typing in the wrong box. Hit 'tab" after typing and the cursor disappears from either box.
sometimes its hard not to
....But you have to remember to hit the tab....
mine was bad cause i didn't do it in the wrong box - the grid just happened to use i word i like to use (hehe)
that's better, 50 to go, nice and round, and 80% done. now i can't look anymore or i'll ruin it. night!
today i'll say nighty night
good for you hurshy! see you later.
wow hurshy - that's great
right, erda - life isn't fair - lol
gotta have round, or you can't sleep.

late flip
hi mymu
hi taz
hiya mymus!
hi HK!
have to enjoy this grid, my last one for two weeks
why mus? vacation?
yep and probably no access to internet
hi mymuse - where in the world are you going? The back of beyond?

hi jilli, no Florida, to see my mom and introduce her to her first great grand child
100 left -- good time to say good night! :) -- see you tomorrow.
OK, i'm stumped - i have the to 5/10s on either side of the to 10/70 & still can't get it! are my monkeys on strike????
wow mymus - that is awesome!!!

I like this time of year, coz the crowds have really thinned down there
hi, hk.
cool my i have best freind in orlNDO AND HER SISTER LIVES IN KISSS I AM THERE ALOT
got 75 words in 19 minutes
SORRY CAPS
Melon - think web **** and play around
It's noce, all right - <VBG>
agree mymuse but chances of heat stroke are higher :-)
hiya mel!
well there's a pool in my backyard, so I just jump in when I leave the a/c
that is fine - I like this about FL - eikther a pool of ocean are usually conveniently nearby
and don't forget the water parks!
OR sorry accuracy of my typing decreases as time progresses
just got back from fla pretty hot but the niesw ere nice
to be honest mymuse never been to one in FL - any suggestions? I am thinking about taking the whole family down in December
hi, Dianne - hmmmm - no luck so far - i gotta remember to "turn left" maybe.
I have many happy memories of FL - Singer Island, Siesta Key, old Key West...
at last.
melon - start on the left side - bull + web thing sort of plural.
my son loves Typhoon Lagoon because of the awesome wave pool; I like Blizzard Beach coz it offers more options for young ones and kids and a BIG plus the lift takes me up to the family ride -- those stairs are killers
got it , friend. i had to turn the same durn letters around & around & around....
got the long one! what the heck does that mean?
mymuse which town(s)?
mymu iam drinking out of my blizard beach vup as we type
a friend of mine says Discovery COve is also good - will check out and let you know when I come back...just remind me
to bed. laila tov, all.
mymu i hear dc costs about 175 dollars a piece but is worth it
good nite melon :)
nite mymuse sweet babble dreams
Typoon and Blizzard are Disney's Water Parks (they also offer River Country) and Discovery Cove is part of Sea World
oops sorry that was 4 melon
thanks andy
"the quality (qualities) of being bulgy or knobbly" - that's the long word.
but I'm not leaving are You?
andy whta time in december? xmas is pretty crowded
ok that is fine as Orlando is on the map for trip
then Ft. Myers
probably 1-5 or so taz
o thats pretty good time andy\
we usually buy the 7 day hopper tickets - coz you can save them from year to year
there is a conference in Ft Myers starting around 5th Dec so I was thinking take whole gang with me prior to and then ship them home and head to Ft. Myers
can i have a clue for the long t word? i have ty
not there yet taz sorry - jsut monkeytyping sans list
ty
it's TO, not TY. you know the expression, "xxxx" killed the cat? sounds like that, and plural
thx Krys excellent clue!
related to the Latin (yes, I checked this time) word for "knot"
NP
oh pls sonet is not a word hmm who said logic is required for babble
tyty krys
andy you mean sonnet like the poem?
well yes or Syncchronous Optical Networking (Sonet) lol
got it. new word for me :)
hey Kris where in SF u r? I used to work at Market and 6th
i live between the castro and noe valley. just moved back here a year ago
when did you leave SF?
I see Krys - SF is my favourite city - probably most favourite in all North America - together with Ottawa
i've never been to ottawa or calgary but i love vancouver :)
Calgary is Houston North - the only redeeming quality is proximity to Rocky Mountains - it takes me 70 min to drive to arguably the best skiing resort in NA - Sunshine - www.skibanff.com and as we all are avid skiers it is worth it
I'm from Vancouver, &I went to Ottawa at the end of March a couple years ago, expecting it to be "spring" &then it was -15. Apparently they have something called winter there.....
isn't a snee a type of knife?
Vancouver is OK but as I passionaly hate traffic I don't think I would live there
and yet you like SF? Parking here is vicious!
winter, yeah, I miss that :)
well Krys I lived in San Rafael so 5 mile drive to ferry and then walk from Embarcadero to 685 Market St - good commute
sweet! marin is nice.
yup - Mt. Tamalpais, endless hikes, safe family friendly - my second daughter was born in Marin General - she is 4.5 now and skis by herself - she did ane asy black run this April
I like SF because it has history, nice architecture and has a buzz - it is a City - and there is not too many places like this in the world, sort of reminds me of Singapore
How about lovely time-warp Victoria?
I was there jilli once - 1997 or so - nice peaceful bit probably too boring for me sorry - the smallest town I ever lived in was 120,000 and that was an aberration - ever since I moved out on my own it was million plus - and while SF is not a million - the Bay Area is like 7 million
but love to visit Victoria anytime, just not live there
Blah, andy - I lived in Shanghai, New York, near London (England), Montreal, Toronto - Victoria is not boring.
jili what interesting assortment
I lived in Calgary, SF, Edmonton, Ottawa, Madrid, Prague. visted 45 countries and every single city u lived in - I will say that boredom is a function of personal taste and simply Vicotria is not for me
Well, how is this for being an addict? We'll be leaving in about an hour, all is packed, all is ready. And when I have to wait for one hour, I will... play babble ofcourse!
hi sprite! where ar eyou going?
hey sprite **** big hug ****
andy whats your favorite contry to visit
or place
Andy! *hugs right back* Krys, we are going to Germany, to the Moezel :)
taz it depends - but usually Singapore and Korea
wow would lvoe to go to sing some day
oh, I forgot Hong Kong in 1939
hey sprite! how far into your holiday are you now? where have you been, where are you going to? (hey those are lyrics from 'andrew mccrew' by don mclean!
also like Switzerland, Spain
LOL helen! I am leaving today, am still at home. Will jump into the car in an hour.
Jilli HK is great agree but I prefer S'pore a bit more as it is cleaner and everyone speaks English - my guangzhou is non-existent
i have only been to england, scotland, morrocco, egypt
hey everyone,
taz if u ever go let me know, I would be happy to make some intros 4 u in S'pore
happy trails sprite
sprite, have a great time! how long will you be gone?
hey onyx
if i could find someone to go i sure will ty for that andy
andy i agree too !! i AM great !!! LOL
hi onyx
I'll be back Friday next. Thanks for all the good wishes :)
site
sprite - safe driving - love Autobahns too bad we don't have them here
andy do you travel for work or fun>
and sprite say hello to your great husband
I am sorry!
mostly work taz but fun too
it is OK sprite at least it is a valid word LOL
I said 1939 - HK and S'hai have changed completely since then - I believe S'pore too -- well, the whole world has changed
cookies for sprite!
Greatings back, andy! :)
yup jilli I know u said 1939 - pls realize my parents were toddlers in 1939 :-) so...
phantom word: frenetic
so all I can do is to a) compare my own experiences b) listen to those who have more experience / c read - btw anyone here read Lee Kuang Yew bio?
So "snert" (dutch pea soup) never made it to the international wordlists :(
nope - who he?
Okay, admit it... you tried "snert" to see if it was valid, right? LOL
but portuguese for lighthouse did sprite :-) anyway thanks for a new word
yeah but i didn't think that it meant pea soup\
Isn't there a comic strip dog called snert?
where the heck are those EX words hiding? hmmm
Krys I have none so far so n clue lol
Now I NEED to learn that portugese word for lighthouse!
Krys: all your former husbands?
fa 4/7 sprite
nice clue Krys thanks
appaerently it's also a card game
ha ha dear sprite
Ow, had that one, and the plural. But now I found a smelly F4-5 combo as well :)
yes, i already have *that* EX word
oops sprite dankje wel
one is to bear down on heavily as ex*** pressure
Krys, if you ex*** yourself you might find one and its plural
yup, have that combo too.
Jilli - yes, Hagar's dog is named Snert.
but there's two more hiding from me...
ah! i foudn them. like the gasoline
a DNA word
have a good day/nite all ... happy babbling
bye muse!
I seem to remember the gasoline... that's with a double X, right?
yup
yeah sprite but it is misspelled here
All those useless facts that are buried in my brain... and no way of ever forgetting them...
Like the stupidhead hi4/5 babblet from the south...
not useless at all - look at you using them!
Now you have a point there, Krys, LOL!
I like Hagar's duck called Qvack
good nite everyone :)
sprite - have a lovely trip!
Night helen!
Thanks helen, we will!
nite helen
niht hk, and muse?
wow - I just noodled the ar8. Lucky
it's a sedimentary rock, btw
I see the gasoline related Ex is part of the H6/36-7/52 combo.
a-yup
this is a very satisfying grid - lots of juicy words
hey krys ar sedimentary rock is ar 7 - no? ar 8 is plural
Oh yes! I loved finding the compounds T8 and 9 :)
sprite dankje for another good clue
andy - yes
good Krys I don't have tos earch for another AR - am still sans list
Oooooh, the ample bosom is back!
sprite, - you mean compound words or chemical compounds for the T8 and T9?
Real compounds, Krys. To walk relaxed + a straight one.
horses?
Darn, NOT now!
thx sprite got them. what's wrong?
Fishing, actually. And its synonym S7 is there too. I got about 20 messages of "word could not be added"
got none of those today sprite (yet) but Babble does hang in for a while before it answers
I was typing like mad to finish in time, so perhaps I was too fast?
if anyone could single-handedly overload the site, it'd be you :)
LOL!
don't know sprite - I doubt - with all due respect to your typing skills - that you alone should bog down Babble server - assuming it is not a Commodore lol
Hihihi, perhaps I only bogged my connection, who knows. All back to normal now. Except my husband is ready and thinks we should leave half an hour earlier, since he doesn't like to wait, LOLOL!
well sprite show me a guy who likes to wait lol
He'll learn! ;)
well I think that is what my wife thought 12 years ago when we got married
let me tell u she was wrong
patience in my world is NOT a virtue - unless you deal with toddlers - that is only exception I cana ccept
I guess she was worth waiting for for you? :)
well she is a fabulous person and mother
it is just that waiting is not my forte
"Dear God, grant me patience. AND I WANT TO HAVE IT RIGHT NOW!!!"
well that is really nice quote - kind of reminiscent of Janis Joplin
phantom - distil
eew - i moved the cat food up here because of the mice in the kitchen, and now i keep thinking i'm hearing mice up here. creepy!
another phantom: tensile
my phantom - fruit - assumimg alt spelling with y is no good
hey Krys if u modify your phantom to a part of our body (hiding in your mouth) u got to 6/ 18
open wide :)
Say Ahhhhhh
if you mess with it more you get a christmas-y word
Darn, all those words I entered when the s4 didn't work with me, I have to reenter. And in my mind they are all already entered, so they are hard to find!
Okay, one more H, one more N...
nil N4 bene... and spells. Got them! Fireworks, and I am running off right away, my love is getting impatient. Bye all :)
bye! good job!
Fireworks already sprite????? Amazing! Bye and have fun!
great sprite
snile should be a word
between smile and sn***
hi all!
well and FRAU is not a word hmm - German for woman
hi Fran
hi andy!
u know Fran sprite did the Romans - showed up, said hi and finished - is it veni, vidi, vici?
oh no andy, i have only 70 words found!
hmm and Fraulein - MIss in German IS a word what the hell?
Fran I am at 119 having joined about about 90 min ago
taro
oops sorry
nice try onyx lol
is that faster or slower than usual andy?
I'd say slower as I chat too much lol
I did 51 words in first 20 minutes - sans chat of course - it went downhill since lol
sorry make it 10 min
i know what you mean andy! it's just more fun to work with the chat.
yup - it is the Babble social element - very smart and very nice people - and occaionally a few troll idiots thrown into mix
i have a complaint too andy, it's not taking sexer, i thought that was a machine or person that determines sex of eggs!
hahahah and don't forget the snobocrats
that came up before, fran!
yeah Fran there is a lot of words that Babble SHOULD take and of course many that it should not oh well logic is not a strong part of this puzzle
hi ORH! which category are you in?
hi jilli!
Morning all
hi fmitch!
morning FMitch
hi FMitch
Byzantine is the only player that used the word snotobrats before I think ORH is one and the same
did anyone find the 10 yet?
not me onyx
nor i onyx
fmitch will have it soon i think.
I have been labeled a troll and ostracized by many ..... then I Just consider the sourse(s).
isn't YERT a living structure?
It's a to10/70 and it was clued quite a while ago but I didn't get it.
yup - it means something like "the qualities of being knotty or bulgy", it's based on the latin root for the word "knot", and it sounds like "xxx" killed the cat.
i'm tempted to look on brandyjack's list, but it is still too early
bt - change the 2nd letter and you are right
bt- you're spelling it wrong i think
thanks
hey ORH u know - it is always wise to ignore idiots - the challenge is to decide who is and who is not - or as one of my acquaintances says - ignore the bozos - some of them are easy to spot, some of them wear thousand dollar suits but are stills bozos
any help to be had for the EN6? I keep putting in "enlist" even though I know it isn't there
ORH whichever guise - you also gave some great clues.
thanks for that 10 krys!
welcome
did you get it, fran?
don't have any ens krys!
yes jilli
Krys not here yet sorry
ruddy genius, fran
You know, andy, what you think means ABSOLUTELY nothing to me ..... btw .... to borrow a word does not mean assuming an identity ...... now you all may ignore me while I grin.
ok ORH - same philosophy - there is a very very few people whose opinions I cherish - guess we are on the same page - have fun
do you want a clue jilli? or do you already have it?
I don't already have it but feel I'm close, so yes, I would like a clue
Does it start with a legal term?
ack. io6, british/canadian spelling.
jilli start with the spanish bull and end it like plural of what killed the cat
thanks krys!
thanks, fran
yw neko
thanks, fran!
yw jilli!
how many words are in this grid?
254
254
thanks
yw enigma good luck with the puzzle
:)
jilli, can i get a clue for your icon?
phantom - tortoise
Been so busy looking for words, fogot that it is picka word from the grid as a clue icon day.
fran, it's in Picadilly Circus
i wish i had used he6/21 as my icon. it would have been more interesting.
sorry jilli, not familiar with picadilly
I have he5/22 but not 6/21...
familiar with cupid?
let's just say if i had used it as my icon i could have used a "moon"
thanks jilli!
i can't believe i didn't have it already!
well, don't be it backwards
lol jilli! you got it!
OK I've changed my ncon.
consomme, fmitch?
he 6/21 = german body part 7/32 is plural
lol thats the one jilli
cute, kate!
I'm old enough to have worn a sn5/12 and even sn6/21
hello
hi scv
hi scv!
can i bother you guys? how many words are there?
254, scv
254 scv
OH i can find out at lickety. guess its time to go pro.
thank you ;)
yw
Yes, scv - please do - be nice to get to know you
it is worth it scv if u plan to play bable for a while
I was doing so well but have hit the wall at 132 :(
hey ever1
yeah, i'm pretty into it.
hi jess
that EN6 I was looking for before means "to store", presumably by a farmer.
thanks krys!
neil
got a better image for the icon clue
jilli, that's much better.
glad you think so, fran
hi everyone, what kind of grid is it today? 254 easy or 254 oh brother?
I guess mix of both - very easy start though
yeah, very gratifying in the beginning
a bunch of the long words are science words - rocks and body fluids and stuff
1st half was lovely
oh fun, thanks
a lot of the long TO words are pretty cute
I just noticed the 9 and 10 letter words. I don't have another window open yet. What do they start with?
Fireworks and cookies for me! 'night everyone. Ted: it's a to10 and a tr8/9 combo)
to10,70 tr9,54
thank you, svc
oh sorry.
Congrats Krys, well done.
thanks, krys and congrats!
YAY Krys!!!
night Krys and congrats
Changed my icon again for the i4 & 6 combo
lucky me, fmitch - I get it
WTG
what
is the theme?
a word from the grid, pappou
Pick a word from todays grid as your icon
oh, ok, thanks
all im seeing is sox and arod and its really distracting!

Half way, and past bedtime as usual - bye all!

Bye jilli
good morning everybody:)
LOL, andy!
hi and bye, jean - have fun
Hi jean
Morning jean
hi guys
hello cassandra-sava
good nite all 45 left
bye, andy
night andy
hi cassandra
Ah nuts. Another big grid. Never finished yesterday's, as my computer decided to play silly buggers.
hello
hi matty, I was hoping for a smaller grid too. No such luck, but it's not too bad in the beginning
under half after first run through is no good.
any clues please for the fa7/40. Thanks
Mornin' All...what a mess...I have spent a huge amount of time on the 8, 9 & 10's to no avail. Only found 65 so far and I have slowed to a snail's pace.
I don't have it, helen, sorry
hi odin
i don't have it either
Hey Pap...how are you?
ta Pap and scv
doing ok, thanks, almost won the fantasy 5 last night. I had 4 out of the 5 numbers and 3 away from the 5th.
do you get anything for having so many numbers anyhow?
Wow...did 4 out of 5 pay much?
I won 67.00, not bad
fa 7/40 - pl. of fa 5/16 - not a very kindly term!
3rd fa 5/16!
Hey thats not bad. I checked my lotto from Wednesday and had nothing.

did you see those dell batteries that had to be recalled? My laptop at school has one of them
I didn't see it. I have a dell Inspiron 8200 and the batteries have never lasted long.
finally figured out the fa7
No...still in the state of mass confusion!
what a child might call a hefty person
got the 5 part just b lind to the last 2 letters

Ang - is your icon a clue, or just very funny? ... :)
A clue! And funny
fa 7/50
Aaah fa 7/40
great clue ang!
duh... got it!! :) ...stil pondering on Fran's... fan shaped? ...
sherb, you were right about bolts, it's the type of bolt that's the word.
let me know if you want the first two letters.
i'm thinking of changing my icon to he6/21, but i'm afraid of the images that may come up if i google it.
lol Fran that could get you in a whole heap of trouble. What is the 1st letter of your icon please?
ok, a hint for the troublemaking h 21, please?
here's a better pic
pam, you use it to "moon" someone
Thanks fran - not an expert on bolts unfortunately
first letter is H
Thx Fran. I don't know that we need a picture LL
of which angb, the he6/21 or the he5/22?
don't see it...
the 6.21 that is
The he! And there is even more than one !!!!!
the he6/21 is not my icon pam, but i'm thinking of changing it to it.
my icon is he5/22
googled bolts...but none the wiser... does it use the X?
I know, but I can't get it even with that funny clue...
yes sherb
I have the bolt...
You could always turn my icon around Fran and look at the back!
thanks ang, not getting a pretty picture!
No ... the front's bad enough.
And then you have the fa 5/16 ... is there a theme here?
pam, it's another word for rear end, spelled like small hot dogs.
the he6 has a plural...
I have 2 he5/22s, both to do with curses...
my icon is a pic of he* bolts
anyone one want to trade words? i have the x word
back in a minute
hexagon bolts...
Clever Fran!
ok, gottoa go and the small hot dog, rear end is just not there for me, thanks anyway!
later pam!
later pam :)

evening everyone
hi andree!
hi Andree :)
hi Andree
I don't get the rear end or hot dog clue but it gave me a laugh
It's a real US term ... we don't use it down here!
andree, it's for the he6/21, another word for rear end
he + opposite of outie
I have a problem with both 6's and 7's with the he
then plural
andree- it also refers to heinken beer- they say let go off my he**** on the commericals
morning all
hi beebee!
hi beebee
morning beebee :)
just got those 2 thx, never heard the word
Morning all. What does the 10 letter word begin with, please?
for some strange reason i thought the grid would be shorter today

ty, FranMag

yw biltong
I sure do Fran
Good Morning? Are they trying to kill us? Another 200 +!! Getting ready for work. Won't be on during the day today. Hope I can tackle this tonight. Have a great day everyone.
hi judy!
Fran, what time is it in Hawaii?
good morning, all - won't finish today, I have to leave for a weekend jaunt, but just can't resist - my stats are shot anyway, as I often can't get back to the puter
judy, it's about twelve thirty am
wolvie- we play for the love of the game not the stats :)
morning Judy and wolvie... it's quite a fun one... :)
oh I know - but I took a look the other day - pitiful - I didn't even realize there WERE stats for quite awhile. :-)
Phantom word, toilet.
I find it hard to get the time to finish these long grids but its fun anyway
Where are the stats Wolvie?
or maybe because we're all masochists
phantom: silent
And what time is it for our friends in Britain? LOL BB
under rankings - my term was stats - sorry. :-)
it's 11.40am in the UK...
8.40pm here in Aus

Hi Jacula.
Afternoon Changed my icon again to a word I just found.
ooh, good one FMItch !!
that was my last F... :)
TY FM - they have all just come into flower this week in my front garden.
yw, I know it's a bit of an easy clue but if you are like me a break in the grid occasionally is welcomed
well I don't get your clue FMitch :(
click on my icon peri to the a fr7/40
FMitch, got it, it was the only flower I could think of that started with an F,
anyone have the 9 and 10 yet
thanks FMitch, didnt know how to spell it, but got it finally
59 to go... time for a break... later all :)
hine
Off to run some errands back with more clues later.
bye fmitch
bye sherb
Hi, all.
hi charm
Hi, Wolvie!
hello Charm
Hi, lynxxx - much more 'reasonable' than yesterday?
v. nice - and on the weekend as well! I just did not have time to finish the last 2 days.
I left bloody fingerprints on the keyboard last night! I fought the grid, but I won. lol
Right - did I miss any good clues?!
you could look at FM just under
not sure, Matty, but I wouldn't mind something for that 9 or 10....
Don't have them yet, I'm afraid - I don't have anything bigger than a six yet.
Got the X though, and thought of a cleverish clue for it.
fr7/40 is a type of flower.
The 7/28 and 8/40 can be a kind of candy or part of a foot. the 8 is plural
Chas, which 1st letters?
Chas - which 7/28 - what letter?
to 7/28
good clue...thanks
I'm back! Changed my icon to a clue one now.
good icon, Jac!
It was also the name of a movie...and a slang word for young lady of uncertain virtue.
hi jacula !
your welcome, chiley
thanks, matty, I was waaay off course.
and it was sherb's icon, at least, I think it was sherb
Hi, Jac
it was, Wolvie. That is how I got it.
No worries. Glad to help!
gosh...it's hard to see the pic of your icon...or maybe I'm just bleary eyed
good grief - just got the 10...
chiley - just click on the icon pics to see them larger.
no def in the dictionary - think bull and alternate spelling for towns
starts with to...
I did but it's still small...I tried "save as" but that didn't help either....maybe I need new glasses
Huh wolfie?
What's it start with?
torosities
hi all -popping in & out whilst cleaning , so may not always be *here* so to speak! Thoiught I'd better get on with this one as I've failed to finish two nights in a row due to late starts.
im still none the wiser on the 10
ohmigosh
I'm SO sorry......
Gee. Thanks Chiley *grin* I was struggling with that...
No worries - we've all done it (though that one was super).
thank you, chiley - great clue. ;-0
Thanks chiley! *grins*
thanks chiley, an unexpected bonus
Best slip of the cursor ever!
Thanks ever so much!
thanks chiley I would never have found that without you
you have everyones undying gratitude chiley!lol
snowyowl. I'm right with you, and I won't finish this one - have to go in a couple of minutes, won't be back until Monday
thanks, chiley, I just scrolled back!
any clues for the U word ? chiley ?
I looked it up. It means "the state or quality of being torose". Very helpful.
lol, rolin!
gosh I'm embarrassed...I was so anxious to try it
matty, my dictionary didn't have it. Not that I would have known that, anyway ;-)
dont worry, i was guilty of that on numerous occasions yesterday chiley !
don't be chiley -the most experienced among us have often done it! It's just one of those babble things!
"Cylindrical and having ridges or swellings" Is what torose means. Now we know.
rolin - think what laughing really hard produces - and not with a "p" for the start
We all know, but will we remember??
Chiley, we've all done it - don't worry!
well all - must be off - got to 150, feel like that's a good break point - have fun!
Urine's not there! That's what happens to many people when they laugh too hard...
relax, chiley - it's just a jerk-babble response.
Wolvie - It's Roisin. Rolin isn't here at the mo.
lol mayyt - I have a friend just like that!
isn't that what all our fingers looked like after the last 2 days grids ?
it's a component of urine
ooh! matty!
sorry, Jac - my bad typing
So it is. It's also a common incredient in make up and cosmetics.
ingredient, even.
ROFLOL lynxxx.
at any rate -bye and *poof* she's gone
bye, Wolvie
'Bye Wolvie.
bye Wolvie
bye wolvie

matty hi - see my clue at 7.34
Thanks - got it!
FMitch - How about ae4/4 (choccy bar)?
Or fa5/16 (obese person)?
fr7,40????
katusha - FMitch's icon is the fr7/40. Sweet-smelling flower.
Jac you could become a fa by eating too much e4 :)
en?
*ae4
I thought you meant e4/9 (former spouses), FMitch. LOL.
Ionly know the names of flowers in Hebrew..... My gardening skills started late in life!
and now that the war is over,.... does anyone have any ideas for a new nickname for me..... I feel it is timeto change!
Kat - expand your fr (liberty) words.
Kat - How about 'smelltheflowers' or 'sodthegarden'?:)
well that could be one way to totally get rid of e4/9's I suppose :) OK have changed icon again still staying in the confines of the letter f.
TY
TY
TY
hi mitch and katusha
Hello Annie
HI
i did it successfully. i was able to change my icon. i had so much trouble with that. I did it!!!!
hmm...FMitch...I"ll have to study that icon and think F?
No wonder I didn't recognise you :) well done.
thanks
No idea (yet) what 'f' your icon represents, FMitch. Oh well, at least you didn't choose fa4/7 or 5/16! *grins* We'll leave those to Torg., I think.
still too many words in todays grid for my taste -- are we being punished??
Do you want a clue for my f?

I've never heard of tr5/10 before... cookware made of wood...
snite
sorry
there...i totally prefer this icon as my clue icon
sherb it's a term used for all sorts of sundry wooden items.
may have worked for yesterday's theme also
I started out like that TQ... then the addiction took hold... :)
Good choice, Cathyar. Clues 3 words.
oh? i didn't realize jacula! i must look for the other two!
it's such an ordinary-looking word but I've never come across it before...
TQ - take the last letter off.:)
I was really pleased with myself yesterday, and then I found out how many there were!
fa 7?
sherb - don't think I have the wooden cookware yet.

thanks jac but I'd got that one
it ends like the soup receptacle, Jacs... :)
fa7 - obese people.
sherb - don't forget to pl the tr5 we have just been talking about
my clue was kinder... ;)
in 7 = a crystalline compound; in 8 is plural in7 = in + vowel + si 4/4
It was, sherb!
You would have heard of it if you watched Bargain Hunt and the other antiques programmes!! It isnt just cookware it is any small item made of that material
I hope no one is easily offended...my icon was updated as a clue

hi mab!
good morning, everyone -- see the grid is still moving at a snail's pace!
to 10 is not a compound word, but it sounds like a bull in large towns.
It means bulgy, apparently
hi temple. and a belated welcome back cybernan.

fo5 - lobby
Sherb is clueing the woman of dubious virture. I don't know what you're cluing, Nan!
my icon is a clue too
Thanks Sherb!
I'm not sure her virtue was dubious... her gender maybe... ;)
Wasn't what I was thinking -- I was cluing the Monopoly card -- get out of jail ****
very subtle chiley...
chiley, too funny!! :-)
A little obscure, I know, but was all I could think of!
Must have missed a movie -- not unusual!
Oooh - got that one. Chiley, I don't see it. How is it a clue for he6/21 (which I don't yet have)?
Matty, LOL!
Dustin Hoffman, 1982 or so... cross dressing...
Still don't get Sherb's
Chiley - help?
affectionate word for toe . . .
he6/21...synonym for buttocks
Oooh - an AMERICAN synonym. I haven't heard that word spoken aloud for agggeeess.
I've obviously never heard it!
matty -- you don't sound too excited to be visiting your mother...
hi all!
hey, stid!
Huh? Course I am! Not looking forward to the nightmare that is terminal three at LHR.
But as for the rest - can't wait.
Could do without this cold though.
what is LHR? a bad airport, I suppose? and yes, a cold is no good for flying. Drink lots of water today and try to keep your sinuses from clogging up...
hi stidmama :)
good morning all * scanning quickly thru icons for clues *
morning, mama--mine's a clue!
We were delayed an hour at LHR on our way home in July -- can't imagine what it's like now!
No, just Terminal 3 is permanently under construction. And, of course, with the new security restrictions...nightmare.
Une -- are you able to babble from bed? Do you have someone to fetch and carry for you? I thought about you all night, remembering last summer when I did "something" (didn't bother to go to a doc) to my left ankle and couldn't bear weight on it for several weeks...
I imagine my to6/18s are swollen....
Hi un my clue same as yours only different LOL
Heathrow + August = nightmare...
oh! it's Friday again, isn't it? LOL I couldn't figure out a connection between Chiley and Nan's icons...
and NOW I understand sherb's icon! (Loved that movie)
torgone -- are you feeling better today? you appeared sad when I saw you last.
Stid....synonym for buttocks
yep -- I got it now, chiley, thanks! LOL
btw, tor, isn't your phantom word from yesterday in here? *grin*
chiley - just saw your profile (well, i hopeit's not YOUR profile. so to speak)
my uncle works at a course in west palm - palmer's course
Still can't find the he 6 -- and have never heard of the slang term
don't feel bad nan....I dont know what it is either and I live here!
ROFL!!!ROFLMAO chiley - i get it!
hey stid--thank you so much for your concern! No, I'm babbling at my computer--would go nuts if I were stuck here without email and web access! Re "doing things for me" I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends--they've really rallied round re errands, dogwalking, etc. Am feeling very fortunate on that front!
Temple and daisy - it goes up the right hand side of the grid... lots of vowels...
this grid is full of things my 3 and 4 year olds say today...fa**, to**, to******, and he****
smooz, LOL!
sorry, meant nan and daisy...
well I tried what I thought it was, and it didn't work, so I give up
and i'm sure they'd say fa5/16 if i'd let them
Nan and Daisy, it's similar to last name of famous female skating/movie star in the '50--Sonya He****
me too -- I just don't know the slang word!
is chiley still here?
in my home town there was a
do you want a clue based on a German name, Nan and Daisy?
good to hear that you have enough help, Une!
sure -- don't know that german will help though!
you can try...
I'm here....I can assure you that isn't MY picture...I work at a Fazio course in W.Palm
Dr whos real name was Seymour He*** different spelling
ok daisy - then i guess you didn't sing isee your he6/21, it's nice and shiny when you were little?
A diminutive or familiar form of "Heinrich"; then there is a plural...
TO, LOL!
where's tor when we need him? : /
well I got it from that...but it sure wasn't spelled the way I thought it was!
hehehehe....
so ty Stid :)
*giggle* that was so funny, TO, hadn't heard that in years!
hi daisy!
LOL! here we all get to be kids again whnever we want! : D
I've never heard that, TO
got it -- but it's a new one for me!
hi Stid...need to run to store for just a minute, won't be long
Thank you Stidmama
later daisy!
yw, Nan -- did you finish yesterday's grid?
bye all - short day at work, signing off till afternoon break
heading for the list...
I didn't do yesterday's -- we had a golf tournament and dinner that took up most of the day.
"sexer" is a word -- it's a person who knows if a chick will be a hen or a rooster!!!!
Bye temple
hi folks! seems that perhaps dr_god didn't hear the pleas for a little grid?
you were smart! I set reasonable goals -- halfway, and then at least one from each tile in the grid. That kept me just busy enough!
I thought that too, stidmama!
DA FIZ!!!!!
I always think of strawberry soda when you show up...
What up mama! *fancy high five behind the back*
mmmm. i like that :)
LOL! It's bright sun here, and I am trying to wake up slowly... but Tom left early for work and it was so nice and quiet in the house that I decided to sit on the sofa and babble a bit.
Now I am sucked in...
it's one of those things, mama - you can't spend a few minutes in babbleland....
ain't that the truth...
hi babs!
hello Babbler! I really like that crop circle!
hi Babs!! :D :D
thanks, stid. I've just come in and I'm perusing the grid, looking for a word to clue. : )
hey sherb! :D how are you??
sherb - who's in front of the flag in the fabulous dress?
I found the word I want, just not sure yet how I want to icon it...
LOL Fiz, that would give the word away! (I got it straight off)
Fiz -- don't you remember Dustin Hoffman?
(dustin hoffman) *whisper*
oooohhhhhh. got it!
I'm good thanks, Babs... just coming to the end of my holiday... how are you?
like the chocolate roll or little feet, right?
Grant just got up and has turned on a kids animated show with "toiletpaper man" as the villain.... *sigh* so much for intellectual!
yes, Fiz!
I'm ok thanks, sherb. I seem to be catching up on all that sleep I lost during the heatwave. Can't keep my eyes open! : )
rofl stid!
I know what you mean... it's nice to feel the chill again... having said that, I wouldn't mind if this rain stopped...
going nowhere, fast -- must be time for another coffee!
I didn't want to make coffee, so sat here for five minutes eating chocolate covered espresso beans. Once they kick in, I will HAVE to move around!
I know, did you hear the thunder last night, sherb? :s and the rain!! it came down in sheets!
*refresh for my new icon* : )
oooh. think i'll change my icon to yu4/7. brb
good one, babbler
stop talking about rain, we havent had any for 10 days and are thirsting
almost done, just kinda stuck on in7 and 8, anyone have those?
we've had a drought here, inge... we'll need a lot more rain than this to replenish the stocks...
*turns slowly before the group* how do i look?
hi inge and hurshy!
We've had 30 + temps with no rain for a month -- scary, when you think how dry the forest is! -- Afraid to go away just in case there's an electrical storm -- we live in an interface area.
Refreshingly tiny grid today, eh?
I would like rain also -- I had COMPLETELY forgotten to water one small corner of the garden and may have lost all the plants there... *wails inconsolably*
yikes, nan! i don't blame you!
nice yu 4, Fiz
hey tor! hi stid, cnan, sherb, fiz, inge, etc etc
hi babblers... we arrived on holiday in england today, lovely refreshing rain...its funny what you miss sometimes!
Fiz, usually a woman wants to wear something a little less barrel-shaped! *giggle*
hi hurshy and tor! hursh, long time no see - how's it going?
Hi Hurshy :)
Really going for that coffee now -- brb
well the 'drought' is largely leaking water pipes, but let's not go there... : / heya all who just joined :D
oh fine
hi hurshy :) ...in7 - white crystalline substance... ends in an s4...
thanks sherb. :)
sherb -- I don't know HOW that clue worked for me (didn't have the s4 yet) but it did! Thanks!
hi Stid,
that is a lovely yu fiz
thanks, inge. i like how it glows from within. almost makes me want to live in a tent....not.
I feel it's one of my many privileges to pay a small fortune to Thames Water so that they let enough water leak out fothe pipes every day to fill Battersea Power Station four times over!!!
lol sherb!
I wouldn't mind one of those, if it were well insulated and had wifi...
if i had a good bed it might be ok.
I wonder if a hammock would hang from the rafters?
and don't get me started on British Gas and London Electricity... prices doubled in just a few months... I'm going to go and live in a yu4 where I don't need any modern conveniences... as long as I can have a battery powered laptop...
if you shore up the rafters well enough i'm sure you could do it.
solar powered, maybe sherb -- but not a Dell (did you hear about the recall on their batteries? poor nrkii is caught up in that...)
apparently now is a good time to shop around for new elec /gas suppliers, sherb. but don't count EBICo, they haven't raised their prices yet.
75 left -- think I'll have to go to the list
Finally, fireworks!
go Nan go!
Dell - the batteries were branded Dell, but they were made by Sony. My sister has to get her's replaced too.
yay fmitch!
I am going to get two more words (then i'll have a hundred) and then go do some work before I hit the list. Seems a good day to drift from activity to activity.
congrats, FMitch
YAY FMitch!
254??? Aw come on! Can't we have a smaller puzzle?
have fun stid. i'm having a party for the love of my life tomorrow and am taking the afternoon off to shop and prep.
*gets out exacto knife to remove 150 words from klaurel's grid*
oh Fiz! that will be so nice! Is it her birthday?
sherb, did you hear the price of bread is likely to go up? Wheat shortages due to the global drought, and the rising cost of electricity. : /
thanks, Fiz! :)
gee babs, aren't you little miss sunshine today
100 words down, 154 to go. Back later...
sorta stid - she's an alcoholic in recovery and it's her anniversary. klaurel - i took out all the ones without definitions but left in the good ones.
All I care about is gas prices drop! That will make so many other things drop and I can have a life again
babs don't forget about the cost of gas!
you are a sweetie Fiz
Man, what's with the huge puzzles?
these are medium to medium-large puzzles
awww, garsh, klaurel, i'm blushing!
huge puzzles are 400+
LOL! yeah, I've been listening to the news on BBC World Service to help me sleep at night. : /
hadn't heard that Babs... but nothing would surprise me now...
Not if you have about 15-30 minutes per day.
babble is not in the context of how much time you have, it is in the context of the range of puzzles sizes that arise
apparently it's America that has suffered the worse with a poor wheat crop this year, and it's US prices that affect the rest of the world, apparently...
frazer - if you only have 15-30 minutes, it doesn't really matter how big the grid is...
babs i do the same - drift off to news of darfur, the world aids conference, lebanese bombing...very relaxing.
that's not true sherb, you can finish a small one in that time... like a 54 worder or whatever
I suppose not.
Fiz -- I am so glad she is making it. BIG party! balloons, pin~ata, watermelon... oh wait- her fantasy party, not mine! LOL
*really going now... poof*
Although the >100 ones I can make significant headway.
YOU can finish 54-worder...
*waves bye bye to stid* : )
midwest has been hit iwth bad heat
*waves bye bye to stid* : )
you can too, can't you sherb?
bye stid! i'll save you some cake!
midwest has been hit iwth bad heat
I'm listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan for the first time. I like it. : )
babs, what sort of music is SRV?
hmm, I have a 2 year old destroying my desk while I do this
the average size is about 175 words...
(as my thingie suddenly stops accepting words)
(as my thingie suddenly stops accepting words)
Woohoo, SRV! Now your talkin'!
Woohoo, SRV! Now your talkin'!
Woohoo, SRV! Now your talkin'!
with a list and wordfinder... but not much fun that way...
hmmm
hursh, SRV is blues rock. It was Torgone's Kenny Wayne Shepherd song the other day that led me to SRV. : )

:)
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a genius
Babble slows to a crawl again
speaking of music, do you like michael buble? he's one of my new faves.
yikes. are we back?
and says that words dont exist in the puzzle yet they do.
A toonie is a 2 dollar coin -- as much a word as many others here!
ooh, check out my cool icon!
and.... apparently not. thought refresh might help but still can't add words. Stid! Get out of here!
it's beautiful, stid!
now I am gone, gone.
bye stid
oh my profile give the link to the page that holds it...
very cool stid. now go outside this minute!
michael buble is pretty good of the new wave of crooners. I rather like him. Torgone - I've got Joe Satriani next. My brother used to go on and on about him, but I never made the time to listen. : )

argh!! ...that stupid ne5 word... always try the singular, which doesn't work, and forget the plural...
ok I get it, you just have to hit return just the once, then go away and clean the house, and your message will eventually post... } (
not that anyone cares, but i've been changing my list policy. i got tired of defending it, tired of the tedium... so i have retained the find 50% with no stats policy, the 80-90% with no list policy, but then list. that way i often don't need any clues at all - today just the one.
lol babs! feel free to come over if you run out of cleaning at your place...
variety is the spice of life though... so maybe i'll mix it up in future.
but are you enjoying it hurshy?
aaarrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh
yes, sherb, at the moment, it's a relief not to have to chat tons to get my last several words.
hursh, that's pretty much how I used to play.
I got to a point where I'd usually get about 50% of the grid in about 30 mins.
don't know about now, having not played for so long.
babs, you should have seen me last night, i was on fire! got 204 in 45 mins.
Babbler - You have fine taste ..
be back, My back is killing me so I am gonna spend some time in my massage chair. :)
thanks Tor! Well, I have to thank you, cos you brought Kenny Wayne Shepherd to my attention. Do you use Last.fm?
i was past halfway before 15 mins
hursh, you are pretty incredible, I am not in the least bit surprised you got that many in such a short space of time.
it probably comes from the fact that my dad is the fastest dad in the whole world. not at word finding, but it probably mutated on its way to me.
awww, hursh, that's cute! : )
Not familiar with it . .
it was this joke we used to have, he would say he was the fastest dad in the world, and he would just stand there and pretend he had run all the way around the house but it was faster than the speed of light so i hadn't seen it.
lol hursh! my dad's got a similar sense of humor.
http://www.last.fm/ if you can, and you want to, go register with it. Hurshy uses it, so does Anj, Lola, Yoink. Dunno if any other babbler use it.... ?
awww, that's adorable, hursh!! :D
that must be why i like to zooooooooooooooom
i'm like roadrunner *meep meep*
or tom cruise... i feel the need... the need for speed...
I like roadrunner!
everybody likes roadrunner :)
ewww. stick with roadrunner, hursh. tom cruise is creepy.
plus you get to hold up those little signs with what you're thinking neatly printed on them.
tom cruise in real life, esp NOW, is creepy, but tom cruise in top gun is just darn hot.
Need a clue for the last le pls
yeah, TC is creepy now, isn't he??
but we all do that fiz - what do you think this chatterbox is? :)
and open packages from the Acme Co. ...
oh Yeah, he is so attractive; hard to not like him even though it is hard to like him...
multiple mr. luthors
le5 - like a make of car... but change the second vowel...
*hold up sign* I ought to focus on actually locating some words today.
that always do such interesting things and make such nice big booms
phandmd, I read an interview with him not long ago, in the Sunday Times, and that's pretty much what the interviewer said.
that always do such interesting things and make such nice big booms
has the baby been seen yet? or is it still being hidden away?
argh again!! ...you see this is the reason I'll never finish without a list... just spent five minutes looking for the last N, only to find that it's Christmas...
as far as I know, the general public haven't seen it, though this actress who is singing now (she was in The Matrix, forget her name) anyway, she said she's seen TC's baby...
damn
lol sherb, I know what you mean, the small words can be a real pain!
BUT, sherb, forcing yourself to do lots without a list for a period of time seems to help one get better at things like that. i'm faster now with the list than i was in my pre-listless days. i used to do about 100 words an hour, now i can do double that.
new icon, new clue -- *refresh*
need li 5/14 after what is on school paper
By the way, sorry about the quad posts ... the puter went fruity.
what the school paper is like, phand...i mean it's a funny adjective
I'm going outside for a bit... have fun
Hi everyone!
don't have an li 5/14 -- lots of li 5/10's
thnx Hurshy, got it
it is funny
it's not your puter, frazer/crane, it's the babble server. : /
Hi all. Just emerged from the griafter 2 hours, with 119 words still to find. Could someone please help me find fa7 before I open up a list?
I just have a little time, site very slow today, but anyone have a clue for in7/28?
that's true hurshy... I'd got into to the habit of using the list when I was working twelve hour days and playing every evening, and I could find about 150 an hour... I've enjoyed playing without the list this last week or so, but I still feel the need to find all the words, and that last 20-30% really bug me...
Hi hetty pl of the fa5/16
fa7 is fa5+ two vowels
pl of fa5/16 hetty
what's a griafter?
Sorry that was fr7
typo hursh, I think it was "grid after..."
fr7 - sweet scented flower
any help on in7/28?
Thanks Mitch. Such a slighting term;wouldn't have thought of pluralising it.
in7/28, what a foreign blind man might say?
aww, that fr7 is one of my favourite flowers! certainly my favourite to have in the house!
in + letter + s4/4 & pl for 8
in+circle+location (si4)
Torgone, are you still here?
somebody laugh at my clue!
Hah, Hah Hah, Hurshy, You're SOOOOOFunny!
*satisfied*
speaking of slighting terms, I notice these f's are not in enable--are babblers supposed to know how to insult one another without help?
good clue, hurshy
morning all. how many total today?
254
254
254
thanks guys got it and have to go. Have a great day.
thanks guys got it and have to go. Have a great day.
thanks guys got it and have to go. Have a great day.
thanks guys got it and have to go. Have a great day.
which slighting terms, hetty?
Thanks guy have to go and have a great day.
in the server i mean.
we've had lots of trolls, but i think we also have a babble poltergeist.
Back when things aren't quite so slow -- this is painful!
whoa, that's freaky, my second post posted first!
sherb, I'm talking of f5 and fa7
it was fine at the flip, i wonder if certain times of day are worse than others consistently
this time of day has been bad all week...
we're getting too popular, kids....
but i don't think the number of people online was that different at the flip than now
thanks for the totoal, guys.
server is again slowing down for me...
it's hrd to tell how many people are really online... lots of those names are always there and never appear in the chat log... many of them may be onetime players who never logged out...
i think our poltergeist needs a name. how about Pernicity the Poltergeist?
Flask I assume it is pouring with you certainly is here!!!
Yep we have had thunder and lightning too!
I'm online...just quiet today :} hi all
Its just coming straight down here!!
then whenever the server is slow, we can say, pernicity's at it again!
it was sunny just now in London, but now it's getting dark...
i can't take it any longer. bbl!
or "there goes pernicity!"
I'm here. I'm always here. You just don't know it.....bwahahahahahahahaha
no, sherb, I used to log in and then close the tab, but I checked with somebody and they said it showed me as offline. you have to be logged in and present to show as online...
eek! ghosts and evil laughter!
Hurshy-Didn't you know? I'm the problem. Every time I come on to the site, it breaks! Like now, when it refreshed for no reason.....
185 players online right now... and a poltergeist... :s
no, leigh, it's not you, don't beat yourself up like that. blame pernicity.
So WHO is the poltergeist???
Oh, but it is. Unless Pernicity really hates me....which could be true too.
Anyhow, new icon everybody, to go along with the Friday theme! =)
pernicity is the poltergeist.
the so6/18 is a great word... 'having a large bosom and pleasing curves'
leigh - are you paranoid, or are they just out to get you...
I wanted to use that one as an icon sherb but thought I might get into tbroblems when googling it.
pernicity hates us all... poltergeists just like to cause mischief for everyone (haven't you read harry potter? peeves!)
Hello flask1 Verna here. We did our walk last wekend at Peebles by the Tweed and it was really lovely. Imust say Jedburgh looked very interesting also but we didn't have time to stop. Going back to Peebles Bank holiday so will have a look round your wee town then.
according to Google, it's the name of a restaurant in Boston...
Pernicity the server-eater doesn't really have a great ring to it, though...
Hi everyone, I have been logged on all day, but I haven't been playing, I just look in occasionally to read the chat log. I just don't like the very large grids
that is why we do not call her pernicity the server-eater, we call her pernicity the poltergeist
"So6 is overpriced for the food you receive..." ...looks like it's now closed... not surprising...
if it were just a server-eater, i would have named it mervin peter the server-eater
I'm pleased I'm not the only one who doesn't like large grids. They take too long and nothing else gets done. The day just disappears.
maybe we have both and they work together!!!
pernicity means swiftness, celerity... are poltergeists fast?
Maybe they are married and whenever they fight, they take it out on playbabble
could I maybe have another little bit of help with that so6 please?
celery? ;)
i thought i was making up pernicity, to be related to pernicious
yes, i think you are right about them leigh
no, hurshy... maybe subliminally you knew the word...
I see sunshine!!
Don't blink Babbler you might miss it :)
no, i seriously did not know that word. i think it must now be christened a 2-meaning word, cause i want it to be related to pernicious (harmful, destructive)
I just looked up 'pernicity' and it led me to 'pernicious', which means: Tending to cause death or serious injury; deadly.
well then, there you go. pernicity.
mervin peter the server eater
oh, just saw your post, hursh. you were right, it is related to pernicious.
and his wife pernicity the poltergeist
if you go to rpgexpert.com, you can play the Cloak of Greater Pernicity Quest... very suitable for a poltergeist...
Why isn't 'sexer' a word, or 'sexrat'? I'm back, briefly, now the thunderstorm's over.
I've been having a 'rootle' in the kitchen. (And that isn't a word either!)
yeah, sexer should be a word....somebody who figures out which sex the little chicks are is a sexer
I want to know why onesie isn't a word ;)
where did you look it up Babs? ...dictionary.com only has one entry, mean swiftness...
I tried onesie too...
rootle is definitely a word! goodness me, thtoopid babble
mervin peter, server-eater has a wife and cannot beat her when angry with pernicity he ruins our felicity and then his wife, so poltergeisty joins right in because she's feisty so now you know, you babbling addict just why our server's so erratic
I looked it up in dictionary.com, sherb. : /
I can't find swiftness..
*applauds hurshy* that's awesome!
;)
back again but not for long
oh I see it. :s
babbler have you seen the one very similar to rootle?
1 entry found for pernicity. pernicity \Per*nic"i*ty \, n. [L. pernicitas. See 1st Pernicious.] Swiftness; celerity. [R.] --Ray.
what does it begin with, TQ?
T
thought so. yes, saw that : )
ok
is babble not accepting it?
(not playing right now)
roxes
sorry
i rather like it myself. i've posted it on babanon.
I clicked on pernicious, sherb, and it took me to that other definition.
Torgone - what did you think of Last.fm?
'tinies' isn't a word either! What has Enable got against small children??
I checked out last.fm, it was really neat. they had my favorite band, so it's all good :)
I give up for now - server's on another go-slow. BBL.
i personally wish "snert" was a word....
who are they, raelite?
not only did I not see Christmas, but I missed the shiny decoration as well!! :(
big sugar
apparently the shops are already stocking up for Christmas, sherb, did you hear? how ridiculous, it's still August!
HAve you foind the il4 & 5 too that are related sherb, it ws one of my earlier icons.
sherb, your shiny one made me see a throat one...
last re clue palese
big sugar - are they electronica or hard rock, raelite? I like electronica...
got the il's, thanks FMitch... and the throat one featherbee... :)
please someone, the last li4/4?
duh... missed the to6 ans 7... what Noddy does in his car...
li4 - not heavy...
hetty probably needs the one before that that's a pl.
I have that one, sherb There's another--must be the penultimate li4
O.K> yoiu are right, Hursh thanks to both of you
they are hard rock and they rock
babble's not just about words, it's about psychology. like poirot, we must use the little grey cells.
how strange... the tr8 and the se7 mean the same thing...
how redundant
I have a tendency to take things literally...
and i have a tendency to take things literarily
I have a tendency to literally take things.
I'm very literal too. If someone says 'see you later', I wait for them to get back to me! LOL!!
ok, hurshy... give me a clue for my last word... tu5/16...
:)
oop, pernicity and mervin peter are at it again!
Tor! what did you think of Last? Did you join?
huh. game's acting a bit funny this afternoon -- clock's off and it keeps hanging
Babs - I'm the same!! ...I've started saying 'See you...' to avoid this problem... tor - that can get you into trouble...
like a person who purchases but change B to T, sherb
takuma sato, meet pernicity the poltergeist and her husband, mervin peter the server-eater
they're an odd couple
I have a tendency to take things as metaphors, to look for what's really meant. Except in books things are pretty literal. I am often confused.
yay!! thanks hurshy :) ...and thank goodness it wasn't an obvious one... *thinks - maybe it was obvious to everyone else...*
no, it was not at all obvious sherb, a definite no-fisher
hi Mab!! :D
I'm confused right now
OK I want to finish these R's need 3;
what are you confused about mab dear? and have you made your phone calls?
Mab, do you use Last.fm? I seem to remember you were going to join.
re 5/20
tyrannosauruses, phan
and ro 4/5 & 5/12
homonym for impolite, and pl
I have only a dial-up connection, so last.fm doesn't work for me.
mab - in recent years, I've been learning to look for hidden meanings or different interpretations... now I'm confused too...
I ave another no-fisher--I think--one of the 2 n5's? I have the one that looks like a plural but has no sing.
thnx so much; at 165 word and need to get back to work. bbl to finish hopefully
what is everyone confused about?
hetty perhaps wanting one which rhymes with what pernicity is :)
think robbery but change 1st letter
I'm asking for an ne5, please
oh, you know hursh, everything
hetty that was for you
Ah, thanks for the intros, Hurshy. I think we'd met before, but I didn't know their names. I've run into their cousin, Random 'Randy' Numbergenerator
oh the vowels are swapped too

the little thingy that people, usually women, wear at the Renaissance festivals that looks like a hairnet on the back of their heads...
Would someone please tell me what the theme is? That six-toed foot is creeping me out!
It's pick a word from the grid day, like each Friday.
Better now...
is everyone here playin babble or are there different games?
Actually I thought you were displaying to8/40 earlier!
refresh, specific -- grid's been acting up today
found an anagram pair
Everyone is babbling, skatecpt. A new grid of words appears each day.
ah, cyber... tried that twice now :(
phantom tennis...
ok thanks
Rush Limbaugh says "What really *****s me is..."
Just spotted Big Lucy on your logo cybernan are you a fan?
I've heard Pavarotti is not well these days...
the last tr 6?
I think his legs are pretty bad still - with all that weight
He is kind of a fa5/16 . .
Luciano Pavarotti has said he is getting a hand from God in his battle against pancreatic cancer, according to reports.
lol you are right he is still fabulous tho. I must have a thing about big men - Pav. and Meatloaf!!!!
"Now I only need God's help, and it really seems to me that he is giving it to me," Pavarotti was quoted as telling Corriere della Sera in an interview in his villa near the Adriatic sea resort town of Pesaro.
Are you seeing anyone?
didn't know he had pancreatic cancer -- that's sad!
The interview, with the singer sitting in a wheelchair, was conducted by Ettore Mo, a veteran correspondent of the Milan daily and a friend of Pavarotti for some 40 years...
You can see the rest at http://uk.news.yahoo.com/15082006/344/ god-aids-pavarotti-cancer-battle.html
pleeese -- does anyone have the last tr 6?
I think it's a plural, cnan
see I've misplaced my words again -- thanks!
tr6 do you mean the 6/18 that is the pl. of the previous?

Hooray daisy!!!
yay daisy! yay nan!!!

It's not a hairnet, Flask1, it's one of the words in the grid! Actually, two of the words if you pluralize it...
YAY daisy and nan!!!
Hooray for cybernan!
Well done cyber and Daisy!!!
Hooray for tndaisy1960!
now...off to do what I should have done long b4 now. housefrau on the loose!
Let's hope tomorrow's grid is smaller!
bye daisy!
And furthermore, it's a fun word to say!
I vote for a smaller grid so I too can clean the house!!
can anyone help with the in7/28 and 8/40?
bye! *poof*
Someone said the 8/40 has something to do with those things on the end of your feet...
i am finally done. FIREWORKS.
douglas - it was one of the first words I found, and I claim to be old enough to actually have worn one
in + halo + suffix meaning 'from this place', then pluralize for the 8
wtg oggy
YAY oggy! (this is stidmama, about to go home...)
yay oggy!
YAY oggy!
Hooray oggy!
stid where are u
congrats oggy -
Good on ya, oggy!
douglas -- it's a hairnet used to contain long hair at the back of the head -- commonly worn by women (or men, I guess) who work at food preparation
congrats, oggy
how u doing larli
it was fashion in the forties
thanks all.
Well, back in the Renaissance, I don't think they had such regulations...heh heh
I'm still puzzling over the halo...
108 to go just came back on
It was a fashionable accessory in the 1940's
I just said that
You shall not muzzle the ** while it is treading the grain...
so I see jilli -- the grid is more than a little slow today
Ok, folks. It's time to move Babble to the new server. Keep your fingers crossed...
I'm so glad that jihad only means *****ion
I'm off then -- thank you, Jamie
*crosses fingers*
everything crossed
*holds thumb* ... but doesn't really know why...
trying not to breathe
are we up again?

anyone there
hello
think things are fine now
i got kicked off and onto a site to sell a house
lol

i went to the house site also; blew my mind
i got a site to play tic tac

thanks Sherylr
91 to go and i am slowing down, lol
i,ve about had it
2 nights in a row with killers gave up last night but gonna try and stick it out tongiht , no work tomorrow
i think my bed is calling
i crashed on 45 to go last nite
i gave up way before that, lol
is anyone out there
this is the quietest i have ever seen the chat
kinda spooky
we must be alone
thought you were off to bed,lol
I'm here :)
hey rae
how goes the battle
keep saying 5 more mins
down to 55 words myself
thats what i do to larlie
lol
it's going good..I played this morning while at work, but work got too busy. So I'm at home now and I have 135 left
you go
need 75
i never play at work although somedays i reallllllllllly want to lol
I gave up yesterday
might take you longer than 5 minutes lar, lol
me to
my work is really relaxed...they encourage us to play games
no way
where do you work
way.
I work for an internet company...www.zenmed.com
that explains it
I write and research medicine for them
internet companys always seem much more progressive when it comes to their staff
I have the greatest job ever
sounds good to me
they are always like if you need to just relax, do it
makes perfect sense to me,
it's so quiet and I can take as much time as I want to do my work, there's no pressure and it shows in the quality of work they get
gives the employee time to re-rev their engines
yup sure does without the pressure
exactly. and I rarely take sick days or get headaches. not like my last job
because you actually like going to work
I look forward to work.
i believe that people who end up sick and missing lots of work should be looking at their jobs, their bodies are trying to tell them something
no kidding, my last job almost killed me I got so sick...I had to quit
most people don't though they keep slogging it out
hard to change or start over
and they suffer, what kind of retirement gift is a heart attack?
so right
I watched my mom go through it, I know all about it
my mom is doing it now, work is slowing killing her, the stress and pressure she has
that's very hard for her, I feel for you and her. It's hard for you too though
hate to see her go through it thats for sure
she is always sick with something or antoher3
and she doesn't deserve any of it.
Well, there was some wackiness going on there for a while, but Babble has made the transition to the new server. The only remaining weird thing is: playbabble.com works for me, but www.playbabble.com doesn't.
woohoo
thanks for working on it and for the update, dr_god!
hey were back up
yay!
hi, chj
hey pam
hey chj welcome back
hooray!
thanks for that update dr. god!
hee, and it goes silent as everyone feverishly starts entering words again......
Hi. Is this grid hard today? I'm suffering from exhaustion tonight and don't wnat to think too hard
can someone pls give me a clue for the to 6/18 first one i think
to6/18: kids often have these removed, along with their adenoids.
ty gwen couldn't find that word for nothing
No problem!
any clues for the 9 & 10?
The 9 is a plural of tr8. Combine a fast pace with a straight _______ .
haven't got either of those yet chris
thanks gwen - didn't know those words
(can we exhale now? the site transfer went OK?)
to10 is like a bull plus an alternate spelling of large towns.
Good Evening all. Had a panic attack when I came home from work and no babble. *gulps martini*
lol, as the rest of us here did
Une: scroll down for a message from Dr_God at 6:44
thx Gwenski. *stealing clue*
good clue gwen
Sometimes the clues are my own, othertimes they are a result of a good memory of an earlier clue.
Now to find my remaining 11...
debb you there....endy chavez
hey guys how is the puzzle going?
Hi everyone, what happened to the site before?
Hi ph!
Hi Pap
ted, Dr_God transferred it to a new server

The last si is a plural.

Hi chj! I must apologize for my ditziness last night. I think I was totally exhausted. But thx for helping me finish.
good grief! Thnx Gwenski
yw
not a clue! i have no idea who he is, and scout is the only thing that comes to mind, yet it's not in the grid
the to 10 clue was great! And, yet, I must seek a definition!
i don't mean which word, but what letter does it start with....of course i don't want you to give me the word! lol
It's from an old classic movie, Animal House.
its john belushi, whp played bluto in animal house...now can you guess
oooh, never saw that....now thinking.....
the fa5/16?
can't locate a definition...
no, but thats not bad
lol...i'll keep working on it...
another f word(s)
yay, back!
pam, remove the last five letters, slap an 'e' on the end, and then look it up.
Missing one 8 - I have er8/40, in8/40, to8/40 & tr8/40
gwen...i wouldnt exactly refer to AH as an OLD CLASSIC...id reserve that for films of the 30s and 40s...but i guess it has been around
hmm...i have all but the fa7/40, so i must have it... the college boy club?
not an fa ...two fr's
no, i meant the fr college boy's club
Well, I used to consider anything that played on AMC as an 'old' classic.
Chris -missing ar8
just saying i have almost all the Fs so i must have it somewhere
thanks again gwen
thanks, gwen--the word almost sounds like what it is, lol
chj--football tonight? or baseball? Or little league?

ar7 ar + failing grade + not day
falling grade?
there's a nice story on the Mets on mlb.com
the 20 year anniversary story...
abcde
arenite
oops
chj
are they having a big thing before the game? it won't be televised here i bet :-(
phantom--hooey
pam...are you a sawx fan?
i love animal house...
chj--Mets--stayed home from school in '69--told this story here once
i lived animal house
But for the AL--yes, the sox and anyone who beats the dreaded Yanks
i hung around it - sigma pi
howd you nake it to Massachusetts
Where I grew up, in Brooklyn, it was the Mets, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers
Is the frat house still there, chj?
nice chj!
I lived in Albany, NY for a bit and moved when I needed a metropolis that wasn't NYC... And, I love Boston
cj...you said a word
really pam - i've always been mets jets knicks and islanders
which frat house
ar4/5 combo please?
mets jets is definately a connection
go islanders
You said you lived it (Animal House) . . .
Maybe it's connected, but I hate the Jets despite that, LOL
I love football--college, NFL, high school...
chj: are f's now politically incorrect? like no one is a failure?
i meant my fr4/7 experience wasnt that dissimilar from the movie
strange from a leftie feminist, but there you have it!
fr7/40 please
jets suck - but us met/jet fans are familiar with suffering
lol, debb!
i think so...like when did junior high get changed to middle school...as if junior is derogatory and middle isnt
can someone clue the ra 6 and ra7 please
This is embarrassing. I'm missing an apparent ro4/4 5/10 combo. I've got the base of a tree and a repetitive way to learn. Can anyone help me?

Good morning everyone, and how are we this fine day?
thanks chj
again lib?
yep...
gwenski, do you have Babble regular ro4--the French roast?
good.
hi, debb-- again!
3-1, debb
chj - junior high is grades 7-9, middle school is grades 6-8. Nothing merely semantic there. But I've never heard of an "E" grade, despite teaching middle school for 10 years.
hehe - hi lib -- go sox
TO--what is good?
Hallelujah. I finally got back onto bable at 8:35 pm, entered my last eight words for FIREWORKS, and am happy to have finished after all
we had e as a fauiling grade in MA
yay, inge
congrats, Inge!
go where sox?
congrats to inge!
yay inge!
Vicuna, I've never heard of an "E" grade either . . .
at least jeter struck out-- small comfort
Well, I taught at private schools, so I guess they are less afraid of failing kids?
une, probably not. French Roast? hmmmm. I'm still not getting it. :(
Now I am going back in the log, to see how you all fared these last hours.
debb...when i moved to 81st and 1st ave in 1980, there were two cable cos. in ny manhattan cable and telepromter..on the upper east side, MC had the territory up to the south side of 86th street and teleprompter from the side north...MC didnt carry Sports channel which had the islander games so i used to have to go to the irish bars on the north side of 86th street to watch the games..and there was always a good mix of islander and ranger fans...of couse in the early 80s i was in 7th heaven with 4 straight stanley cups
it's a Babble regular--it's the French word for a roast, like a beef or lamb roast
funny chj - you're a good fan - remember the slogan - one for the thumb ?
congrats inge
lib: sox yanks score?
it is also a jamaican dish, une
oh -- 5-1
good night all - see everyone tomorrow

Hi Jilli, I am going to stay online until ten in case there is storytime
Judy, my nephew leaves for UF on Sunday
Before leaving for the swim etc, I kept connecting to some real estate thing until finally there was a message from Dr.G suggesting that the www link might not work, but just plain playbabble might -- and it did!
I have relatives in Gainesville. They are season ticket holders and MAJOR fans. We follow the team up here in PA.
but I wont be at the computer, I am just afraid I will loose my connection if I log off
may i have a clue please for the first n35/20 ty
We live 2 1/2 hours from Gainesville, so he'll be coming home on the weekends. I guess they have a lottery system to hand out tickets to the students, but being a freshman he didn't have a chance
Now, instead of saying how much time is left, ab0ove the grid says (with an hourglass) NaN+ hours left. Any ideas as to what that means?
Hi jilli. I can't get here with the www. tonight so far
My cousins have been ticketholders for ages. I know they are hard to get! 2-1/2 hours which direction?
Well, Nef, at least we are here!

Paul pulled the little brown bird out of his pocket and set it in the middle of the table.
He looked at the twins expectantly.
Otto and Owain shrugged and reached for the bird. Owain was quicker...
Otto laughed, "We wondered if you had found it on the mantel, Father!"

evanonut, I know all about little huge puppies, having bred Gt Danes for years - lol!
Otto quietly handed the little bird to John, who inspected it closely.
annie is your icon a clue from today or an unexplained phenomena from yesterday
Hello everyone!!! How are things?
jilli, i think this thing is little over a year, and it is probaby 120 pounds
Paul said, "Each person who plays this bird gets a different sound. It expresses the essence of the person at that moment in time." He paused, "Try it, son."

jilli honey, for some of us this is the only time we have to talk to our friends today
Paul shrugged his shoulders and refilled the cups on the table. "What do you wish to know? I had similar toys as a child. I remember a little frog whistle that made ribbiting sounds. A small cart with a wind-up pony that could move in different patterns depending on the weather. A drum with buttons on the side that changed how the drum sounded."
he he he ren, where you hide your emergency cheetos
how are things progressing for you, Smeltz?
Our little one is due in 3 to 6 weeks...I'm not ready for her to wipe boogers on anything.
I'm having issues with the 1st 2 HE words. The he6/21 and the he7/32. Could someone please help?
**** I DO NOT VIEW THESE AS INTERRUPTIONS. IF THE STORY GETS IN THE WAY OF THE CHAT AND CLUING I WILL STOP TELLING IT**
have two left help please, so6/18 and st6/27
chj, if you are inquiring about my icon I am so thrilled that I was able to do it (with Jilli's help) that I think it is a UFO.

i know that stid, don't worry sugar pie with the talented pen
minski, they were clued at 9:44
booger wiping is still aways off for you, Smeltz
Do you give the Clif notes or do you put the whole thing in here?
The D's are giving me trouble.
did you decide on a name yet, Smeltzie?
Smeltz, your baby will be precious and cute, precocious and challenging. They all are. And even the gross stuff is manageable when it's your own. :-)
sis????
pabtrek, so 6/18 = it will happen so**** or later
yes....
I put the whole story in, but edit out the other dialog most of the time. Sometimes, I put things in the story that relate to the chat though.

stid - forgive me for being protective!

i'm hunting for the mark...is it my dressing room?
I <3 Jill. {{hugs}}
okay, i suppose there are numerous cheeto stashes then?
no name yet...a friend of ours put a bunch of names on a piece of paper and let the baby pick. The first name she touched was her name. I think it's a great idea.
jili -- no offense taken by anyone, we understand {*Hug*}
yes....cheetos
just make sure you like all the names on the paper!!!
Owain came back in the door with the grease bucket. Otto pulled the key out, it was on a chain worn under his shirt. They handed both to Paul.
Gilly put the teacup aside and watched intently.
Jilli, A case of Grey Goose vodka is on its way to you!
and don't mistakenly give her the shopping list, or she might choose cupcake!
Paul carefully fit the key into the lock, looked at John and winked, "If you can get it open, son, you may have the first thing you see in it."
Otto and Owain groaned. Anna gasped.
LOL, mama
or Nutella
Gilly started to giggle.
Then she chortled.
okay rennie, here's the thing, i might have done something to the cheetos themselves
Finally, she let out a guffaw, and wheezed, "Careful John, it's likely to be a worm!"
that's just mean, nut!!
ewwwwwwwwwwwww
fo5.20 pls
Oooo, Annie! Is it as good as Luksusowa (Polish potato vodka)? Thanks!!!
nut...why is "nut" so funny to me?
(smeltz, you'll call her cupcake anyway you know...)
it is wolf!!!
nut is in a mean mood tonight...
everytime I see it I laugh.
no gw...it's sisterly love, and getting even for the duralax she slipped into my pepto
smeltz, funny ha ha?
hi all, it's nrkii, disguised as daisy
John grimaced and felt with his fingers. Surprised, he released the catch and opened the lid.
she is t-owl! she' s a stinker
no, stinker is my cat
hey nrk! where are you?
I always thought your name was evanout...never saw the n until tonight!
He pulled out a long, intricate and delicate chain. It glinted in the kitchen's warm light.
