how come redrum doesn't work? There was a WHOLE movie with that word in it... *snickering*
50 words and nodding off . . . see you in the morning!
I gave my son-in-law (a lawyer) a T-shirt from the Skhakespeare festival with a quotation from Henry VI part 2 on it:"First of all, let's kill all the lawyers!"
lol knut
he might start to worry what his m-i-l thinks of him!
just found an mi6/42 that's kind of fun!
followed the trail and found it harpjane!
So did I
knut, i think rerum should be a word - lots of movies on that topic
yellow!
un 7/48
mi6/21 shows us what we are
has anyone found an X yet?
a couple ex words, and x as the 3rd letter in a few..
times up MG 50 494
none start with x, right?
no
i have an ex 5/20
70 859 here Kahula
ping..and the plural
and ex6/33
several te words have the x in them
wow you guy creamed me!! way to go
85/1149
PIng, you can double that
thans, rolin - i had missed the plural
ok..gotta go wash my hair..bbl
turp
wow - i can't believe how fast you guys are
Some very cool words today ex 7/56 to remove from as in metals from ore and 8/75 the machine that does it.
hetty, i can double the ex word?
thx mg
ty mg
Wow Roc - impressive - having a baby has really honed your time-use skills :)
Yw all
Just pluralise the ex word, Ping

chic- dani got drunk last nite - had poor cg trapped in the hot tub talking his head off, she was angry because erika insinuated she might put dani up (by not giving her a straight answer - & dani is not stupid, she figured it out, so she was pisssssed)
Thanks. I guess I have a lot to go then
yay! what goes around , comes around for Dani that is!
then stupid erika comes outside to have a cig, is listening to dani & smirking, so this sets drunk dani off & she goes ballistic on erika - i was really afraid for erika, i thought she was going to hit her
got an 8
te8
texturer
on & on & on - 'i had your back' 'you betrayed me' blah, blah, blah, but she was soooo angry! it was scary
sorry
erika finally managed to make it back to hoh room, took will with her - after the ever-so-gallant boog refused to go with her & locked the door
i already got that one. what are the other 2 8's?
Helen, my hubby and I were huge 'Dead' fans in the day!
theres 4
drunk dani followed them & leaned on the doorbell for 10 minutes - i do not exaggerate - will spent the night in hoh bed with erika 'for proection'
thanx chj, so kind, I don't want to have to think...
got the ex8 too
Oh that is so rich, helen; I wonder if they will show any of that and wonder if erika now has about a real clue about boogie's loyalty..
and that's the story - today they are civil to each other, haven't referred to the incident, played cards with each other - weird
erika is an idiot, she's asked him straight out -are you taking me to finals, never a straight answer - you think she would get a clue by now
thanks roc...just got that one
best place i saw dead was 3 days in a row at alpine valley, wi - outside always best :))) that was a long, long time ago :)
now that's weird; although erika probably has experience with raving drunks given her exboyfriend that was on season 5 with her...
yea! more bb talk! :) i didn't watch a Bit of the feeds today. i heard dani lost it last night tho
cl8/55
chic - yeah, i wonder too how much or rather what of it they will be able to show - cause it will sound like bleep, bleep, you bleeping bleeper, bleep hahahaha
ah. tu8
hiya franny! dani was frightening & now ct has asked cg to join up, so unknown to each other - everyone is a member of chilltown & i'm still asking the same thing i asked since week 2 - why are these guys still there, LOL
LOL. will is a genius
he or jani better win this thing. they both deserve it
the evil doctor has it all figured out
because ct is good at dodging bullets is my guess; or Will is a freaking genius at manipulating people..
don't want another Nerd Herd win :)
thanks roc
so roc and chj, any clues for the cl 8 and ex 8? i have the tu and te
gee we all had the same thought,LOL!
funny how it's so hard for those IN the house to see it!
here is my secret desire - well not so secret cause i told my chat room, so we are all thinking about this, so just in case christmas comes for us too, we have a plan --- but my wish is that on tomorrow's show cbs rewards us with america's choice to call & nom the 2nd evictee - the audience so deserves it! don't you think that's a great idea?
yeah i can't wait to see how they handle the 2nd evict. on thurs!!!!!
that would be awesome helen
ex7 - To shape (a plastic, for instance) by forcing it through a die and the 8 is the machine that does it
omg - i know, they are going to freak out in a big, big way - true colors will show - ought to be great!
thanx fmitch
ex8 someone who forces plastic into a mold
Have you got a clue for tu/8, Roc?
thanks fmitch and chj!!
and chj
tu 8 - top of a castle
I would love to see dani and Erika go this week!
I would love to see dani and Erika go this week!
I would love to see dani and Erika go this week!
in the chat, most think erika is jani's biggest problem to face because erika can beat her at any endurance comp - after all, she does play the part of 'furniture' every day :)
Thanks, Dippnall!
well, she DID hang off those ropes awfully well.
Can't find the c8 tho - any clues on that one?
LOL, helen and sorry for the extra votes, :-0
just missing the cl8...have the other three
yes, because she weights 6 pounds
wet
true dat helen
but janie is strong
they're pretty evenly matched. erika is skinny but does pilates as she said
cl8 has the same ending as the te8
past tense for closing a debate...starts with what you get when the blood stops running,
cl 4/5 + 5th vowel + colour
thanx roc and dippnall!
thanx roc and dippnall!
thanks roc...ahve all the 8's
Thanks Roc. That's a new word for me
and 4 of 5 7's
Wow didn't know that one, thanks :)
sorry and susan!
you're on a roll chj
wait i have 4 of 5 7's too... which one don't you have?
7's: cl, ex, sl, te, un
oooh, sl .... hmmmm
thanx roc, i'm missing the un...
have a CL, ex, te, un
ot it - thanks roc
hmm un???
nvm i got it
doglover, not loose..
thanks got the last one
chj - sl
don't have the sl 7, clue any one?
autumn, add un to fr4
how drunkies talk
sl***** speech
97 ...three more and im stopping for the night
Thanks Dogluver

stid - earlier you were talking about something & then got on your story, but i wanted to tell you about The Genographic Project at national geographic - you were saying something about human migration - this is a fascinating study & there is an accompying special i've seen on our pbs station that is excellent - if you are interested in this stuff, you may want to check it out :)

chic - very clever icon!
its 2:00 here
thanx, jilli!
i know chj - don't know how you do it - although, on weekends i'm on at 2
we have the mets all week on central and mountain time
oh, yes! I remember you saying something, but I was dreaming... I have looked at it before, but not for a while.
7am here
it's weird for sports that time - don'tcha think?
i was hoping for some west coast games...maybe have the mets at the flip
hiya fmitch
that would be great chj - but i'd be at the games - not playing babble
Hey deb!
as part of the "it's 11:00" contingent, I'm gonna call it a night at 99... see you all later!
stid - yes - i know i've tlaked about it in here before too - i find it fascinating
nite, dogluver!
gniht dogluver
good night dogluver! I want to get to 44 words and then I will turn in.

its a nice ballpark - they did a nice renovation -
nite stid - sweet dreams
good night all *yawn*
lookin forward to the new shea or whatever they call it
Thanks. Will try to get some games in while there, but it means taking over other people's computers....
i look forward to it too -- is it going to be shea or jackie robinson stadium (i read that somewhere)
wish they had the balls to just call it metropolitan park or something without a corporate sponsorship
i'm sure you'll be busy visiting though arb!
like the yamkees are keeping "yankee stadium" for their new park
Have a good trip ARB.I will be in NY in 3 weeks
i couldn't agree more chj - it's too odd
it certainly wont be shea
jaydee - i hope you have a wonderful trip too!

*Hi!*
brb.... the phone is a calling!

Hi Sue :)
I just started, ARB, sorry. Will start looking :)
urf, now I must go and endure the joys of being poked and prodded and told I don't have asthma at the asthma clinic. back later!
Argh, what a prospect. My thoughts go with you, Ata.
Good luck, Ata.
ARB fe6/33 iron
Thanks Frances
You're welcome sprite. Morning all.
TY Frances. FIREWORKS
wtg ARB!
ARB You're welcome. Well done.
Hello - got bumped off - sudden power outage for no conceivable reason! Calm summer evening! Anyway, back now for a little while - hi all I missed!
Morning jilli
well, not exactly bumped off in the gangster sense - lol
Hey jilli! *hug*
phantom - merde - lol!
Actually, it was a gentle message to you: time to go to bed, shut the thing off... :)
My phantom is 'ferrule'. It is driving me nuts!
ok ok sprite
morning all
And 'infrared' is another one!
morning MVA
Hi MVA
lickety is doing ok, he is passed out at the moment but luckily, the spleen isn't damaged, so will get the blood results when we can... I suspect he has glandular fever like maddison
I am so sorry to hear that, mrP! Sounds nasty :(
mrp, what's happened?
thanks sprite:) mva, he is in pain around the spleen and he is really feeling ill, but we had an ultrasound (suspected a ruptured spleen from soccer game accident) but it looks clear. Maddison has glandular fever and the doc suspects he is suffering from it too.... so we wait
Waiting is the hardest thing sometimes. I really hope he will be well soon, mrP. *hugs* for both of you.
fingers and everything crossed mrp, hoping allis well and praying
So sorry to hear that mrp. Hope he feels better soon.
mrP - have you been doing Lickety's list?
thanks **hugs**
no jilli, he dragged himself to the computer and posted the clues... in the true babble spirit!
what a star!
lickety told us about the tests on chat this morning, glad they are over and no internal damage
well, give him extra cookies or something when he feels better! What a hero!
He better take care of himself instead of us! He is too good to be true, you've got a precious one there, mrP. Well, so does he ;)
he thought we would have to wait a while for clues but no he is very stoic
He is rather wonderful! lucky us and luckier me!!
On a side note, not at all related to the present conversation: wouldn't 'purfert' be a much better spelling of the word?
yeah, like purf, murph
It would even give us 'purferted' today.
cl7 and 8... to close a debate and vote
down to 1...anybody have fe6/33 after the spore producing plant
The iron one?
fe6 fe+bacardi with a double cons in the middle
thnks sprite and hunter....i couldnt go to bed without finishing
WTG Foxx!
Wow chj!
anyone need a few clues before i hit the sack?
YAY curtis!!!
thanks all
congrats chj!!
And thanks mrP for the CLs. Never knew those were words.
im in the grid by the way
as is mrp
still struggling with ex 8
Also Eva's cat, in alt. spelling.
you are to!!
ex8 one who forces plastic into a mold
I know the 'in' version. Never heard of this one! Thanks again :)
the 'in' version is one who is unwelcome in your home... the 'ex' version is an expelled one, by force usually
That justifies my playing today :) Learned two new words already!
I am seeing alot of pussycat words in this grid! I like it :)
Yeah, but the one doing the sound is not valid.Grrrrr.
ok, im going to turn in ....good night everyone
so not cool! I also protest sprite!
Night chj!
I've got the sound one. The one that jumps out at me is LUST - LOL
nite chj! see ya soon
Hihihi

hi scv!
Aha, thanks jilli :)
hi scv and msP
there were some funny and clever ones earlier
I like chj's :)
hi everyone
afternoon all
And yours is so very true, jilli. Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: "Education is not about filling buckets. It is about lighting fires." Hi Rlee :)
And hi maddison :D
nice quote
hi rlee and maddison
welcome rlee and maddison!
hi mva and sprite
Had to look it up, the quote is from Francis Wolfe. Hi maddison, feeling any better yet?
Good for Francis Wolfe!
phantom - nimrod
billion and one phantoms killing me again.
I'm going. Back later tonight. Have a good day/night all.
ahhhh, nimrod :)
Have fun, Frances!
hah! hadnt thought of that one
bye frances!
Yeah, found the last 8!
bye frances, going too, need tea!
the last du.. come on! seriously? a word?
trying hard to find that miserable ni6 - it's not nirmul or niffer or nimrop or nimrud...
nimrud
Errrr... it is, jilli.
ooops, wrong box. don't think its a word anyway
sprite, i am feeling only a little better,but,i'm going to school tomorrow and if i start to feel tired i go to sickbay
scv: yeah, strange one.
Thanks Jilli. I was struggling there!
As brave as your dad, maddison ;) Hope you will feel well very soon!
could have sworn I tried that, sprite!!! Sorry!
Lol, np jilli, you made me laugh!
Mornin' All!
Hey Odin :)
Hi odin! You're up late!
Hey Sprite
Actually up early. Doing evacuations for special needs people later today due to the storm. Wanted to get some play time in before the onslaught.
That's some schedule for today, Odin. Hope all goes well.
Hi everyone. Grid not too big today, what is it like?
Yes - good luck to all of you down there
Hi ExWren, it is nice. And no real Re-words for you today!
I think the storm will bring alot of rain and some heavy winds but after the last few not much in comparison (which is good). The emergency managers are skiddish though and want to fill the shelters as a precaution.
Hi exwren - a couple of geniuses finished in about an hour so it must be ok - not too much trouble here but this slowpoke isn't halfway yet
Yippee! Fireworks - now what to do?
I can't blame them. Better be prepared for the worst. WTG spellit!
YAY spellit!!!
Cheers! Nice grid today though some odd words as usual. Missing the volcano
we haven't had the volcano for ages, it seems!
True, the vulcano is on a break, apparently. Some ugly words in this one too ;)
I miss the volcano, I got so used to it just being there
volcano?
hi kitty
scv - the perennial etna
the etna, sylvia :)
We can actually say it today! Etna!
Hello Jilli and everyone!
Hi Kitty
ahh.
i always see it mentioned but never asked.
sprite, how do you know that scv's name is Sylvia?
there's a mosquito too - aedes
She told us yesterday. Was tired of her initials. :)
crazy guess!
LOL!
hah, slow.
phantom - effete
OK Sylvia, I will try to remember
Should have said I was psychic,of course.
Oh, I just found a ru4/6 word!
What sort of dictionary is this? No "niff", "lurex", "durex".....
Who is Sylvia? What is she That all her swains commend her...
Another phantom - brute (s)
The first one is there in longer form. The others are brand names, I am afraid.
column, reduce
Hail jillibus, our babble poetess :)
Hello Ray
I didn't make that up!!!
I know... but you quote so lovely!
Love that name
Douglas is the quoter par excellence and includes clues
technically yes but they entered into everyday language (in the UK anyway) many years ago.....it's like saying "hoover" isn't a legit word (probably isn't in BabbleLand?
True... without telling for which words, which makes it even more interesting :)
Hi Jillibus
any clue on the fi 4/7?
Done and Fireworks .... Morning all
Ray, actually we never know what will register as valid until we try. The enable dictionary is completely wacko.
Well done FMitch, and good morning to you!
eponyms!
I'm beginning to stare unproductively at the grid so I think I'd better toddle off to bed...
oliv: needle tr4
YAY FMitch!!!
WTG FMitch! And night, jilli, pleasant dreams to you :)
Morning Kitty haven't seen you for a while, hows things?
WTG FMitch
Night Jilli.
Later jilibus
oliv - fi4/7 same as 4/8 but change last letter
got it!!
thanks
any clues for the 8's
Also sparklings in the dark here.
Congrats sprite!!!
YAY sprite!!!!
I've been a bit busy with life: I'm trying to set up a small business (just starting on it all), happy that it's finally started to rain here, had my brithday a few weeks back and then the man went back to work last week. :D
wtg!
WTG Sprite
Well done Sprite.
Go Sprite! :D
you have been busy Kitty, what type of business if I may ask?
CL8: brought to an end and voted Ex8: former uninvited guest Te8: with a certain surface Tu8: with towers
Making & selling plushies, FMitch Thank you for the clues Sprite! :D
i have 47 words and i have to go to dinner now. bye everybody
Good job, maddison. Enjoy your dinner and get well soon :)
B'bye Maddison, enjoy your dinner. :)
TY Sprite
Hi an dBye maddison, feel better soon.
ok, byeeeeeee and thank you
score. i was looking for something in my desk and found two crossword books and photo paper.
Got to get dressed and do some shopping. Must take my daughter to the dentist this afternoon, she had a filling broken off :(
wtg sylvia! That's a nice find, lol
haha, its exciting at 4:30 am!
alright, i lead a pretty boring life.
can anyone give me some E clues please? Can't believe i can only find 1 of them!
Which one do you have? The mistake one?
When ever I go diggin in my desk I just find junk and mess and such. I did find some stamps a while back, but I knew they were in there somewhere.
yup
kitty - good luck with the venture!
scv, how on earth can you stay up until 4.30
ooh i found another one, a 7.
Thank you FMitch :)
when you don't roll out of bed until 1 pm it's easy :)
he who does it is 8
enjoying my last night/day before classes start
poor spritette! hope the filling isn't too nasty!
thanks sprite :)
you must be a night owl, my sister reads all night then sleeps til midday
that's the life!
there is a combo "to put forth or into use, as power"
I stay up 'til about 1am and then sleep to 12! :D The man laughs at me and my need for 12 hours of sleep.
i seriously need 9 hours to stay alert all day and people laugh at me when i say that
but its true
i can function on 3, which i do half of the week, but for a feel-good day.. need 9 at least.
hi all!
I can easily make do with 5 hours, but then I'm a zombie for most of the day
hey fran
Hello Fran!
i'm the same way scv. i can function on very little, but i'm my best when i have a lot more than that. it really hurts in the morning though, when i have to get up with 2 kids (and wake numerous times in the night to feed lol)
I find as I get older about 7 hours is enough and about once a week I have a really long sleep
I get by on 5 but 6 is best
hi sylvia!
hi kittyvane!
yeah, i'm not pleasant on less than 6.
Mornin' Fran!
hi odin!
hi Fran
hi andree!
odin, i like your bumper sticker, very true and very sad!
It is the truth Fran
Phone keeps interupting babble!!!
hi fmitch!
Hi Fran :)
i have u7 and s7 if anyone wants a clue
u7?
past tense of u6, not set loose
Wow...I really should have found that. TY FTan
i thought it was a strange word
Indeed
brb
I'm stuck at 52 words, it's time to go to the list...
any clue for so 6/24?
st?
nm
i take back my nevermind lol
i dont have any s6's, sorry :\
there is no so 6 - so5 = so + letter + noise we make when pondering or hesitating. Def of the word is the upper part of the soil profile, which is influenced by plant roots
*sigh* all this time i've been looking for so 6/24...when it turns out is is sT 6/24 i need
no wonder i couldn't find anything lol
lol - you are going to love it when you find the st6 then - it means mental torpor; apathy
lol i only had 3 hours of sleep last night (from 6:30am to 9:30am) so i'm running on little brain power lol
lol lol i found it and yes, that is me right now lol
cu 6/27 ?
:)
Believe it or not but pt of the cu4/6 before it Odin
HHHhhmmmmmmmmm
Well you learn a new thing every day. I thought the cu4/6 was another word for a dog but it is actually another word for the noise a cat makes!
I made it much harder than it had to be FMitch. Thanks.
Ahh such is babble Odin

hi Atalanta, and sorry for the wrong box error. Going back to the word list
i'm still here - catchng up w. daughter who I don't seem to have spoken to for 4/5 days
I'm here, too. Just working on the words on paper at the moment.
Hello. Can't understand why it won't accept niff and niffed. Perfectly good words for a smell, where I come from! A nasty niff in the air.
hydra - Hadn't spotted those, but you have given me a guitar word or two to go with the fr4.:)
Oh good!
but it does accept one who niffs ...
Ata - Can't see 'Pongo' in the grid? *Searches for smelly word...*
Oh thanks! LOL
more obvious than that, Jac!
Hmm... more obvious than that? Must be the owner of the fe**!
....unless it's to do with tu**. LOL.
good morning all
Hello hodag
Hello hodag.
Its going to be a beautiful day today!
you mus tbe getting the sunshine that we dont have yet
murder
hello hodag. your gorgeous cat?
murder
It's going to be a wonderful day if you two keep giving us words! ROFLOL
great, now hodag and I each have the same word
That was Ming, he passed on nine years ago he was the love of my life! Someday maybe i'll remember to put the words in the right box!!!
Fiddlesticks! Enable won't accept 'lurex'.
(Nor 'Durex'!)
(Nor 'Fedex'. LOL)
(Neither can you re-message someone via mobile phone.)
I tried those too.
Glad I'm not alone, hydra.:)
My mind is like the proverbial sewer, Jacula.
Phantom word: 'frump'.
hydra - you're no pr5/16 then?:)
I come up with a lot of words but thier not in the ouzzle, dose that happen to anyone else?
Definitely not. I write the rude horoscopes for Fiesta, the men's mag, every month!
Jac - you got the fr4.7 - did you get the ri ones?
lynn - the guitar or itchy ones? Yes.
Happens all the time Hodag
No lurex either
hydra - Good for you! That sounds like an excellent progression for a Child of the 60s. (I mean it. Not being sarky.)
Thanks. I do a sex problem column too. It's great fun.
Thanks hydra,at least I am not alone.
Why isn't unfi4/8 a word? It should be!
Love all your recycling info Jac. I can tell you're 60s orientated too. And hodag, please explain!!!!
I noticed that LIkcety's list is up. So he didnt go to the hospital for anoperation after all
Hi inge. Was he due to have one then? I didn't know. Hope he's OK.
oops,wrong person. Thanks Becca!
hydra - I've always recycled. Came from a generation brought up by parents who'd been children in WWII. Make do and mend, waste not want not etc. BTW, I used to write 'tongue-in-cheek (no pun intended) mucky stories for a women's erotic mag.
Oh. I thought you meant you wrote for men's mags too!
he was going in for an ultrasound for a recent injury. He warned us last night about 10"45 US eastern time
The latter was for hodag.
and st5.14 Jac
Oh Jac, how brilliant. I've just been commissioned to write text for book of glamour pics from 60s.
lyn - Thanks! Hadn't spotted that.
12 words left to find, then I can actually do some work.
hydra - That's great! Let us know the title or ISBN no when it comes out. I, for one, shall certainly take a look.
If you';re feeling brave. grab a Fiesta from the top shelf of the newsagents and look for Mars In Venus, my horoscope column (all done properly - or rather, improperly) and either Bad Sex or Sex Problems. I write both.
wow hydra! do you have a good nom de plume for them? hot hydra or something?
Which mag did you write for, Jacula?
55 words left here. I need to go out to order some glass to replace a broken pane on the greenhouse roof (where Conference pears bounced off it last year!) and a broken pane in the rabbit shed (where my daughter slid it open too enthusiastically). Also need to scour the charity shops for some plain net curtain to pin across the hutch fronts. (One of our rabbits got 'flystrike' on Sunday. Caught it just in time. He's on anti-biotics, but will be okay.)
Jac, I have just taken down a heap of plain nets fromm my house. I could send them to you if you like. I've replaced them with lacy ones. I'll put my email address in my Profile.
hydra - Thank you! That's wonderful. Will contact you.
Hello I have one word left could anyone help me please..... it's the FE6/33
hydra - Re the mags I wrote for - my brain's gone blank. There was a short-lived women's mag (Ludus, I think?), a Northern & Shell mag and one called Erotic Stories. There were a couple more but I can't remember which.
well its 8:am time to get the day started. Talk to you all later.By
'Bye for now, hodag.
Rachway - I don't have that one yet. Sorry.
Fe 6/33 clue: first 3 letters of previous words, plus a sailor's favourite drink
Oh well, I'll just have to keep trying! Thanks anyway
Jac, I remember those mags. We must have a chat about them!
nice clue hydra
Wicked, thanks Hydra, I've done it!!!
hydra - Fiesta rings a bell. I think it was their editor who nabbed one of my stories from the women's mag ed. She rang me one evening to ask if I minded him having my story.
Can't have been. The ed's male and has been for years, unless he wears a frock in private!
Congrats Rachway!
hydra - I meant the women's mag ed rang me. The Fiesta ed was male. LOL.
Brilliant Rachway! I have 8 left now.
Thanks. Got to go and play Operation with my son now
Well done, Rachway!
good morning all!
Hi ch.
Hi ch1212.
Rachway - keep a steady hand! Have fun.
Now that's annoying ... I put up my bumper sticker and even refreshed, but still not showing. I'll refresh again

then du + **d sails at sunset?
congratulations.....i know that's frustrating
it is usually the little ones that get me
I absolutely hate when i have to ask for a 4/4 or a 4/5, but it happens-- and I ithink for sure i'd tried it!
dorens, my patience gives out after 5 minutes of monkeying around and the monkeys get annoyed too
I know they do! and they're obstinate when they've deecided they're not working anymore, no bananas will help
I always leave them till last if I can't get the word and hope inspiration will come haha

Thanks Annie, got it
and past tense lady
!! I'm seeing redrum!!! eep!
phantom word - fructose
raelite, you're seeing a surfeit of r's!
anything for the first EX 6/33?
i dedicate a nonword from the grid to those who have been canned: "fedup".. hello to all..
why isn't fedex a word - its practically a verb now

hi Jacula!!
Yeah, I'm here through Sep 15
anyone have a clue for cl7,36
bean, to close a debate
first ex6 is plural of the ex5 before it. there is more than one way to make the ex5....
Hi Annie. I'm not really here. LOL. I'm glad I'm not where I 'should' be though, which is out at the shops. I'd be soaked! Waiting for a longish gap between storms now...
bean - Sounds like expensive Parisian fashion. but starts with the 4/15
Jac we have heavy rain scheduled for today as well...im stay inside and being lazy
Rain here to - must be Ernesto
Jac, when it is raining very hard I say Well at least I dont have to water the plants...I have to go out later, umbrella today
lady, where are you?

NC, Annie
Ernesto's due to hit Florida on Thursday, I believe? I do hope this hurricane season won't be as bad as last year's.
i wish you much luck lady, and send you 'good job' vibes
Lets hope not Jac
Thanks Abe
Congratulations ANGEL!!!!! and disappears back to finish makeup for work
yes, me too, lady
thanks Annie :)
I must get off this chair and get started...see you all later!
bye now Annie (and you are NOT a sl**)
I was looking a pictures of New Orleans 1 year on from Katrina - such a mess still. My heart goes out to those who once called it home.
Uh oh, here comes the rain again...
is it falling on your head like a memory?
falling on my head like a new emotion?
rae - having a singsong 'might' make the rain worse! LOL
I want to walk in the open wind
that would not be good..I'll send some summer sun yuor way!
LOL, you two!
I want to talk like lovers do
who grew up in the 80's - not me LOL
Please DO, rae! At least enough for me to get to the village and back.
purdee is so a word
I am an 80's child
Not me, ladyn. I'm a child of the 60s and 70s.
yup, you shor' are midee purdee
(Born 1957.)
jac you're only a decade ahead of me
hello
LOL
Hi Harp!
hi harp
howdy, harpjane
ladyn - you're of my O/H's generation. (He's 12 yrs' younger than me.)
Afternoon all. Jacs, you can send your rain over to me I've already run my errands.
Hi FMitch. Okay, will do...
o/h?
other half?
ladyn - Other Half.
hi FMitch.. are you all finished?
yeah, wat does o/h mean, anyway?
ahh, gotcha
hi fmitch
I thought it meant other husband
ladyn - He's not my hubby, 'partner' sounds like a business arrangement, 'boyfriend' sort of daft at our age, so, Other Half...
other husband? ROFLOL. One was enough!
bed partner
Hi Dorens and Hi Aloy yup all done again :)
we call them "significant other" here
wahoo FMitch! 13 left for me..
CJ - Yes, but we don't spend all our time in bed.;)
murder
shame :-)
Sorry
ladyn - S/O sounds a bit too PC for my taste.
Can you imagine having 2 husbands!!! as you said Jacs one was enough.... appropriate word Torgone
torgone - I just found that word about 30 secs ago :)
torg - you're the 3rd Babbler to type that word into the log today.
i'm with you, jac--boyfriend sounds so ridiculous at our age
yeah, I like other half better
FMitch - Yes, torg was very timely there. *grins*
Thank you .. I'll wake up soon ....
and here I thought SO meant Sex Object.
Mu**** by numbes, one, two, three ....
learn something new every day in this game....
Its as easy to learn as your ABC's.....
LOL BJ
Brandy, thats funny lol
BJ - LOL.
puts
no, can't believe it did that...sorry again
Tee hee...
(Almost a grid word...)
okay, if you guys are going to type words, how about some I *don't* have LOL
ni6 anyone?
rhymes with that new moptype thingy that is advertised a lot on the tv harp
Hello folks - just popping in, quick work break here
or rhymes with how things are not the same
thanks, dorens, are those thingies any food?
No idea what the mop is, but I thought 'nimrod' as I read your post, Dorens.
I mean any good (sorry, we're out of coffee...)
thinking you mean good...and i don't really know, i
i'm not a domestic goddess by any means
Is there one or two Ni'6?
oh, would gladly share my pot with you.... not domestic in the cleaning area, but a good cook and i make excellent café
Only one CJ. It's a 'smelly' word.
only one cj, and jc, it is NOT nimrod!
only 1. I'd like to know how that ni6 can exist without ther being an ni4?
cj just one
I just read through the log, Jacula, you just made me feel very old, you are the same age as mu eldest son!
phantom word - ferret
okay, well its a funny word, :s
BJ - Me,too! Also, the past tense...
must be french......
morning all
Sorry Wren! Have some chocolate...:)
hi charm!
Hiya Charm.
hi charm
Hi, Aloyisius, Jac, Dorens!
looks like a nice do-able grid today.
how many words are there today anyway?
144
$1.44
:D love your bumper sticker, wren ... yours too, jacula. clue please for the mu5/6 combo (I am presuming) that follows what pigs like?
144
very doable, charm
hi, all.... If you enjoy art and/or drawing, check out http://www. drawspace.com for great tutorials and lessons for beginner through advanced levels of experience.
103 to go then :s
Why isn't "purrer" a word - one who pu**s
Word round=up: 'There but not allowed' - lurex, durex, fedex, 're-message someone via mobile phone'. 'Phantoms' - inferno, frump, ferrule, fructose, putrid.
Well, those are mine... so far.
how about sturdee?
clue please for the mu5/6 combo (I am presuming) that follows what pigs like?
because 'cat' has fewer syllables?
lol, BJ
rae - yes, I tried sturdee too.
ends with the abbreviation for the Hartford state, ch1212
LOL, BJ.
ch: the mu5 has ther following point values: 2, 2, 1 , 1, 1. the six is a plural.
antoher fantom, impure.........
thanks, aloyisius and angelsong -- got them
yippee
At this rate, we'll have more phantoms than real words.:))
and inferior is giving me a complex.........
we should do a phantom babble!
hi all back again got kicked out and i never done nothing lol
phantom babble sounds an excellent idea.
phantom babble? <lifting head from the grid>
Oh dear!!! real babble can be hard enough
i think that could work
sometimes the phantoms are esier to find, though
FMitch - Yes, but it could be handy for a small,easy grid day...
thats true
is that an offer jac?,,,,1 sugar and milk plz
alternative babble....we could have both from the same grid (and sorry, I CAN spell, just can't type)
well, gang, I have to go back to work, ttyl!
I guess we'd we Ghost Busters rather than Babblers on those days??
Thanks for the support
*be Ghost Busters
see you later, lady..
bye lady
bye Lady!
bye lady, enjoy the day
'Bye ladyn.
mhm, ghost busters... i like it, jac
my favorite phantom right now is ureter (with all these r's and e's it should be here)
done. Any clues needed before I go?
ghost busters? ghost babblers? virtual babbling?
yay CH!
I tried that route for the 'u' word, too.
how about the 2 T words with 8 letters? please??
wtg, ch1212!
Well done, ch!
hooray ch!
congrats ch :)
Oh, hi Charm and Ch and Jacula
Hi, Abe!
charm,. one is how something feels build off the te 4/9
the two t words relate to structures on top of old castles --- got it?
are there only two mu5's?
got the castle structure one - thanks ch1212
te8 - fabric or wallpaper sometimes has this, build on the mobile phone messaging word
unless you are talking about the te words... in which case THOSE have to do with a style of painting or anything to do with a tactile surface
i have 11 mu
Well, time is flying by... I must gird my loins, find an umbrella and away to the shops. BBL. Happy Babbling!
3 18's, one 14 cj
bye Jac!
bye jac
5 of them are mu5

I am nearlly always around at the flip but cant concentrate on talking and babbling!!
hah, i didnt see it, but its a great idea!! who ya gonna call??
same, cait, which is why I tend not to chat much while i am deep int he grid
Im usually the same caitly - that early is too early to be talking but ok to sit and try words.
this is a particularly rich grid for phantom words today
My phantom word today is finder
Oh no........I love president Bush
he has helped us to keep the war where it belongs. NOT here
so5 please?
Sorry faerie !!!
homonym for serious charm
some people shouldnt use stickers that offend other people i happen to loike him
I guess I should keep my opinions to myself though
like*
no, we're all entitled to our opinions....that is the freedom that he talks about, isn't it?
Caitlyn you are a free woman and have your rights also so guess I better hush
HI Shorty !!!!!
thats rude and your not from the states
Hi faerie
i think it will open a pandora's box to discuss politics in this chat
No---it's allowed no matter where we're from...that is freedom. And some of my best friends like him...doesn't change things
Im sorry if i have offended anyone but you are only reading what you think is there
Hi chj, and I think you're right
oh cjh, you're right in more ways than one...just read your icon...my dad was a lawyer and incredibly honorable...it took years for me to understand the whole lawyer reputation thing.
I was listening this morning to some radio jocks complaining about the state of New Orleans since Katrina and how badly the gov't has treated the people there. But I think if people here saw how people elsewhere in the world are treated (after the tsunami, for example), we should all be grateful for the freedoms we enjoy. And we should use all those freedoms responsibly. Ok - that's it - I'll get off my soapbox and get back to the grid.
ok I'm off to work now have fun babbling everyone :)
bye faerie
bye faerie
bye faerie
Bye faerie
and Dorens, thanks for the so5.
yw charm
ok so what are you trying to say it says I can read

ni6 is similar to the mi6/42 (to have your nose put out of joint).
e +d4/7
thanks Dorens.
Good afternoon all!
Thank you I respect you for that
thanks, charm!
Hi Flask
Hi Flask
yw charm...hi flask
sorry, klaurel - the ni6 is like the mi6 except for the 1st letter and last letter.

hooray klaurel
we've all done it, sapphie
go for it, matty - it's pretty easy.
Hi matty
c'mon matty, you know you want to
*splash*
May I ask why it takes Dell more time to BOX and SHIP my laptop then to MAKE IT!
it is kinda easy, Matty. I only had to ask for a couple of hints. :)
lol
anyone have a clue for the er 5,12?
Redrum! Redrum!
nm
got it
congrats to klaurel!
ladies out there (and maybe some savvy gents, too), I have a non-babble question: what's your favorite moisturizer for hands and/or face? I have dry skin but combination skin on the face. thanks.
Charm - Lubriderm.
anyone need help out there?
charm: I work for a company that sells moisturizers online : www.zenmed.com
charm i'm combination too and i like cetaphil
Charm for your body have you tried baby lotion?
ulay seven signs of aging
you can take a beauty regime questionnaire and I'll tell you what to use :)
i use the bath and body works Breathe
okay, my turn to vent: I WANT MY LAPTOP!!!! HOW DOES IT TAKE LONGER TO BOX THAN TO MAKE???
lol
call them klaurel
Poor klaurel!!!
ok kl, i would like help with the second ex 5/20 please
I would, Bean, but I only orderd the thing on Saturday. :) So, I shouldn't complain
Anything by Neutrogena is really good too, Charm.
Love yor icon Cait!!
just call them and ask for an estimated time of arrival
charm- i use aveeno on my face and nature's gate on my hands
i use beeswax and shea butter
Raelite, what kind of stuff do they sell?
Ive only got 55 :-(
Flask me and icons have fallen out!!
hi flask....and we are trying to avoid politics here...just doesn't work!
Sept. 5, Bean. :) But I have been monitoring the progress
we sell skin care products for rosacea, acne, dermatitis, excema, and hemrrhoids
YAY, CAIT! :D
any one have a clue for ex 7,56??
thanks for all the ideas ladies - I'm going to out and buy one of each and start trying them.
yuk...thats a long time to wait for a laptop
ex + cross letter + impolite
bean - EX + crossed letter + not polite
ex7 = play dough makes an ex****** to squeeze the dough into shapes. verb.
as well as scar treatments and stretch mark reducers and exfoliation products
of course, bean, they have it ready and it SHOULD make it out today, but it is annoying to know that it COULD have been shipped yesterday
did I mention politics Dor???
ex5 = to speak loudly about something (ex*** your virtues). and pl.
i'm still looking for the second ed 5/20
YAY, FLASK
en, dorens?
no, flask, but i had started agreeing with cait's icon and it offended some...
ex7/56 you can extend to ex8/75
ex!! (still can't type here)
America is a free country, Dorens. And technically, it isn't cursing.
My goodness, what ever happened to free speech???
Dorens, to sing the prises of someone (other than fush) :D
exactly what I said....someone was offended cause she likes bush, and I felt that the freedom he likes to talk about allows for this. don't think it should have offended
it got washed away when katrina hit
fe6/33 please?
thanks. got that klaurel
do you need the 1st EX?
no, needed the second. when i said got that, i meant I got the clue! thankyou
Charm, the chemical compound for IRON
:) YAY, Dorens
Please all ...Im sorry!!! Lets talk about babble or something I feel awful i started trouble
Don't feel bad, Cait, we have the right to express our opinions and you have your and the person who likes Bush has the right to his/hers
no caitlyn, it rreally is all right and you had every right to do that and you explained and apologized if she took offense...it's done...now, let's talk about babble...the un6/30 please?
I didn't get the fe 6 clue -- can't seem to make it work -- tred three different endings, but too many RRRRRRs get in the way!
how about those yankees? :)
hi all
and fact is, Cait, if you can;'t express your opinion, then America has really gone into the toilet
un6/30 = when you are not **** to talk about what you want for fear of what others might say/think.
hi Stid
Hey, Stid.
that
Ouch, what a little snipe, Charm! :)
funny charm!
NOW HOW COME FEDUP ISN'T A WORD???
hi stid
hi stid.
Hi stid
because it is technically two words
we're having really nice weather down here.
thanks charm
bean's right. I am fedup with the grid, and I am not even halfway yet...
Charm, isn't there a hurricane on its way to you?
Back soon!!!
The calm before the storm , Charm?
We have nice, damp, cool weather which is such a nice change of pace
so far, it's heading more along the Atlantic coast (toward Miami and points north). We're on the Gulf Coast, but keeping a weather eye out.
very much so, Stid!
charm, are you near Clearwater?
i know klaurel ..i was just kidding..trying to change the subject
Abe, we're nearer to Mobile (about 40 miles) and New Orleans (about 3 hours).
charm, the funny thing is i loved your clue (in terms of what you're saying), but I didn't get it!
our weather is in the process of changing, but I am pretty sure most of the moisture will go to the north of us.
any clue for fe5,18 ? the first one?
and Dorens I accepted that NOW DROP IT
fe5/18 - Enrico fe*** (scientist)
Bean, its the PL of the 4/8 above it
sorry, bean - wrong word.
Which is a good thing for Tom, because there is still a hole in the roof wher e the skylight used to be (and will be again) and there are no shingles as all over that section of the roof!
duh..thanks klaurel
Charm -- I got that fe 5 from your clue. Thanks.
Dorens, think UN + FR 4/7, but
could someone please clue the n word?
okay, I"m back
thanks klaurel. can't believe i didn
didn't see htat
rae - what a dog does to your crotch, but drop the first letter
hello lady.
n/m I got it...finally!
klaurel, is there any way to train them not to do that?
Short of smacking them on the nose, I don't think so. Mine still does it to me and he is like 6
hi lady
wb lady
sigh
lift your knee.........eventually they get the idea
lol..my dogs are too small to do that!
mine's 80 pounds of puppyhood and 5 years old. He'll stop. eventually, but I know it's annoying, especially for the ladies.
what kind of dog do you have? I've always wanted a big one
I would like to say something really nice about an author... I am just walking on air.
lol........lots of dogs do that, but a knee in the chest might cure it
Mine is a 56 pound Husky/Chow (and we think some collie) and he can be annoying. It was hilarious when he walked up behind the 14 year old cat this morning and started sniffing her butt. She was not amused
I am also back, glad to see you found new topics of conversation, Dachshund alsocant sni** taht body part.
he's a mix - german shepherd and siberian husky and whatever else jumped into the gene pool at the right moment.
fireworks!!!!
Grant wanted to find the sequel to a book he just finished and really enjoyed -- "Dragonhome" by John Peel.
yay Dorens. Hi Inge
they sound so cute!
yay, Dorens!
I looked everywhere, finally concluded there probably wasn't one.
I am actually reading, Chasing Vermeer, a tween book and it is pretty good
stid, try the internet, or have a librarian look it up...per phone of curse
Then I found the author's website and he has many many books (including some Star Trek and Dr. Who)... and a message link.
fe 6,33 anyone??
Stid - did you check out Amazon or Powell's or ABEbooks?
back to the ADD WORD box, later
So I wrote to him explaining our dilemma... and he just wrote back! He says the "Diadem" series has the same combination of things that Grant enjoys (fantasy and magic) and should work for him!
fe6/33 = fe + consonant + potent carribean liquor (Capt Morgan)
http://www.john-peel.com/books.html
bean, starts with the iron prefix, ends with my favorite lliquor
tu /50?
got it..thanks all
thanks abe, charm....charm good luck with the weather..i'm off now, check in later
I am so pleased that he responded so quickly, and so grateful that he took the time. Apparently the original published of "Dragonhome" isn't interested in publishing a sequel... which I think is a shame. There must be many people out there who would like it.
nice of him to write back, stid
Jaime, the past tense of 6/21
tu8/50 = tu6 are the things atop castles. tu8 is the past tense.
i don't have 6/21 either :)
bye, Dorens
awesome, thanks
TU 6/21 is the big ole' round part of a castle or the part of a tank where people shoot out of
Anyway, I like to support nice people, so I am putting in a plug for Mr. Peel here. I think he's awesome.
will keep that in mind.......ty stid
and the TU 6 leads right into a TU 8! thanks klaurel!
are you suggesting we all go buy this book to make the publisher print a second volume?
let me know how the diadem series is, Stid, my son is into those
LOL -- no raelite, but perhaps some of his other books would interest the highly literate folks on this list!
If he likes fantasy and dragons, Random House recently put the old Dragonlance books by Weis and Hickman out for kids. They dumbed it down a little and turned from a trilogy to a 6-book series
it's cool...I'll go buy a copy today
what about the Pern series?
dragonriders of pern is a superb fantasy series
anne mccafferey is an excelent author
I liked the Pern series, though I find McCaffery's habit of marrying off all her strong women annoying...
I don't know if Grant would be into anything dumbed-down. He reads mostly teen and adult books, but I will look for the originals next time we go to Powell's in Portland. [Another plug -- Powell's City of Books in Portland Oregon, HUGE used and new bookstore, searchable from online, and a coffee shop in one corner... I love it]
cl7 and 8??
My 10 year old loves the books, How old is Grant?
cl7 = when something bad happens, you need to find cl***** so you can move on with your life. change the middle 's' to another consonant.
Hi everyone
hi there. sounds like haute c****** fashion
I used to have most of the Pern books, I think they were damaged 18 years ago when my storage locker flooded because I can only find a couple. I enjoy McCaffrey, but Grant wasn't too interested in the Pern books I have.
but it starts with what blood does when it bleeds
and past tense.
Charm, great clue. Thanks
I also liked the Katherine Kurtz (sp?) Camber of Culdi series. Had a standing order at a local bookstore for the newest ones as they came out. Used to sit by the phone and wait for the owner to tell me it was in...
fe 5,18..the last one?
yw. and done.
hi Becca
kl -- Eleven.
I'm struggling with the iron one - I can work out the first four letters, but it's the last two that are puzzling me.
last fe5/18 = past tense of the party word before it.
Yay Charm!
Hi Stidmama - I was beginning to think you were all ignoring me ;)
katherine kyrtz rocks
Stid = I'd forgotten about the Camber series, another good one!
would reccomend them to anyone
Matty, the letter with teh dot + the sound you make when you aren;'t sure what to say
thx charm
WE LOVE YOU BECCA
matty, add a hesitation sound
i have the wrong one then
no, just really love discussing books, Becca. Not that I manage to read many since I discovered Babble!
Aw thanks Klaurel!
preaching to the choir, stid!
Matty = take the 1st 3 letters you have and add the carribean liquor.
hey Matty missing you loads x
and on that, I am headed out to clean my house.
ttyl
I am a self-confessed book worm too. My fiancee calls himself a book widow when I've got my nose into something good!
the second one?charm
Hey Kim! How are things - I'm on Googletalk, if you want - but I'm off to NY shortly...
2nd fe5/18 = Enrico FE*** (scientist).
LOL Becca! "Book widow" I'll have to remember that one!
show off!
i couldn't get that one....a new clue???? pleaseeee
well, I am past halfway, so going to check email and the news (though that last seems never to be a good idea...)
later all!
fe5/18 = fe + consonant + do re **
bye Stid.
I am really enjoying the book I'm reading right now. It's called the Mysterious flame of Queen Loana by Umberto Eco
soething new has been added to the resource pages. see the shoutbox on the Community page for my comment about the new addition.
Bye Stid
lol...got it charm>>>roflmao
At the moment, I'm reading E.E.Knight's Valentine (Vampire Earth) series - an interesting alt. universe.
i'm new to science fiction. My husband loves Stephen Lawhead and just recommended Ender's Game to me. I loved it!
Good morning all. Alan and I have just been delihting in the company of 18 quail under our bedroom window--plump and preening as they stuff themselves with seed. Four males, eight fully grown females, and the rest this year's chicks but now quite sizeable.
does anyone have the te 7 and te 8 words?
I just cant get into scifi
Jaime, my sister is a great OSCard fan.
I love watching the quail too hetty
cool, Charm. I haven't read the rest of the series.
i love 'space opera' really into Elizabeth Moon and david Weber
the te 7 and 8 build from the a te4 that a college student needs. the 8 is a past tense ending.
te8 = some wallpaper which is not smooth is te****** (past tense). drop the 'd' for the te7.
But my husband thought it was a big deal when Orson Scott Card plugged the movie Serenity (I didn't know who he was at the time). I love Firefly and SErenity!
Jaime te7 and te8 (pastv tense of verb) have to do with the feel of a fabric or apparent density of a visual image--build on te4
thanks guys!!
raelite, maybe you've not read the kind of scifi which appeals to you? There's such a great variety of subgenres.
Sorry, Jaime, not familiar with either of those....
I'm onto the mu's and can't find the second mu6/27--I have the "mu**** most foul"
that's likely the case...I do love historical fiction though, it's my favorite so that's kind of like sci fi
Firefly was Joss Whedon's latest work, a tv show that stupid Fox cancelled. And SErenity is the movie that came out of the show and was actually quite good unlike other movies coming out of shows.
it's the science of history with fictional stories
I love that genre too, raelite.
mu6/27 = pl of the mu5/16 before it?
:)
raelite, you could try alternate histories - what if Columbus didn't find the new world? what if Germany won the world wars? what if the Colonies didn't gain independence from Britain? those are a lot of fun. And you could start with an anthology or two to discover authors and subgenres.
that sounds great...I will do that, thanks charm
you know, I could babble more if work would stop bothering me
.
always looking for new books to devour
Charm, plurals don't seem to work on the mu's
Charm, there's two books written about that very thing, called "What If?" and "What If 2"
But these are essays written by historians and authors, not fiction
2nd mu5/16 = mu + consonant + Hartford, **. and pl?
Also, Penelope Lively's latest work follows the thread through her own life--the roads NOT taken
I like the er5/14 - what a great word!
Lady, I might look into that - essays can be interesting, too.
They're very good, I have them both
ladynoir, I suggest you look her up if you want quailty fiction--oops, thos equail have got to me! QUALITY fiction
will do Hetty, I may have alot of reading time on my hands soon
What er5/14 Becca?
oh yes, I'd forgotten. No new contract nursing on the horizon?
But next month, I'm going to be reading vampire fiction and noir mysteries. So I'll just add it to my pile of 'to be read.'
Ohh, vampire fiction - my fave!!
What are you reading?
I suggest Charlaine Harris (?) - the Sookie Stackhouse novels
JRWard. Lynn Viehl. Keri Arthur. Lilith Saintcrow. Charlie Huston.
Not yte Hetty
Never heard of them Charm
can you email me those authors/titles?
Please someone, mu6/27 (not the act of killing)
Look them up, Lady - you might find them interesting.
I'l offer it up, ladynoire, again
hetty, my earlier clue didn't help? you put mu*** on your garden beds to prevent weeds. change the final consonant. and pl.
hetty a type of mulch
Offer up what Hetty? I missed something
good ones charm..thanks
I didn't have that mu5--doesn't it need an aitch?
anyone have the first mu 5/16 yet?
never mind, got it!
o--I can use a "t"! Ta
mulct
ayup.
oos, sorry, wrong box
oh that is the word we are all seeking
just got it Jaime: a different word for snot without the s
yep :)
or mu+ **bar (tool for opening treasure chests etc)
Jaime - mi*** processor but with mu
Lady, when I actually articulate the world's needs as I know them in verbal prayer, I call that offering up
fireworks for rusty 2hrs 30,she`s getting better
yay, roncook
hmm, the first ex 6/33. does it have to do with the first ex 5/20?
pl. it. Jaime.
k
charm whats the weather like over there. it`s chucking down here.
jamie yes
The sky is overcast but the sun is shining behind so it's bright. VERY humid. In the 90s. It's actually not too bad !
anyone have the ni 6 or the big cl words? They are my last ones. Also, I'm available to offer to clues now.
roncook you should come to Wales its sunny here!!
bye all. have to go be productive. see y'all tomorrow.
Bye charm
well goodbye all for a week as the p/c man is off to sea to earn a few crumbs. byeee
ni6 = (earlier clue) what dogs do at your crotch but drop the initial 's'.
ni6 .. its a beast in harry potter that seaches for treasure minus a consanant
Bye roncook keep safe
thanks! The cl 7 and cl 8?
french word for closing . . and plural
awesome, thanks unea
you mean and past tense :)
yw!
yes, sorry!
Uneaixoise, cute bumper sticker... how's the leg?
it's ok--just want this thing OFF!! (the cast, not the leg!)
How much longer Unea?
mu 5/14?
Are you castdown, uni?
hi again (briefly) all!
i'll find out Thursday afternoon when I see the ankle orthopod . . .
great icon, caitlyn! :-)
Add a vowel to mu4/6 raelite
I will be keeping you in my thoughts, Uneaixoise... I HATE being slowed down by my legs!
rae, I just struggled woth that mu. Add a second vowel to mu4 above it
thanks so much, stid :-)
hetty, LOL!!!
I HATE being slowed down my anything
*by
DITTO!!
hetty dear -- are you getting "weather" today? They kept talking about rain here overnight, but I woke to sun and a bit of wind in the treetops!
thanks
We are not getting any weather--YET. Lots of quail today--a sign there will be rain
*looking for quail influx*
I don't want to seem un-erudite, but I really don't "get" the cl clues, Une.... can you dumb it down for me?
I want to walk out in the garden and take care of the dahlias before it rains, but ... not up to walking on rough terrain yet.
hmmmm, sounds kinda like "cl + vowel + city in france near all the loire valley chateaux"
got the 6 30 and 7 48 U, but clue for third U please?
stidmama...a vote for cl***** is when the Senate ends a filibuster.
stid have you been ill?
third u: plural poop word minus the first letter
no caitlyn, just laid up with osteoarthritis -- sports-type injuries 20 years ago that keep coming back to haunt me
okay sapphie, i'll trade you!
thanks Une
ok hi there
*rubbing head* finally got it, but now my brain hurts! thanks Une and hi there
un5 - un+ past tense of eat...i *** the dog.
Atually, cait, as anothearthritis sufferer I canh tell you Stid looks as supple and willowy as a twenty-year old. No sticks for her (YET!)
6 30 someone who is in prison and 7 is past tense
I can undrestand how you feel stid as i suffer from the same thing .(not through sports though just wear and tear)
oh, i clued the wrong u word--sorry--my brain is crumbling into dust!
Though I have been using crutches all week hetty... :-(
Thanks Sapphie!
thanks Hi there
psst! hetty! did you see my fun bumpersticker? I got it for you...
Oh my dear love, didn't mean to belittle. You are brave and staunch and true. There.
it's great, stid!!
that sticker rocks!
And Just looked more closely at your sticker. All my g=daughters would yell AMEN to that one (but don't tell Alan)
:-) I liked its "message" LOL
Atually, i's
only 2 left...first st5 and 2nd st6...anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
go hi there go!
Actually it's on account of his being such a good father that they are the feminae they are. Strange how that works
yes, Alan is a remarkable man -- unusual to find such a kind and thoughtful man in your generation (or to be honest, mine), though I have been fortunate to know several.
Hi there st6/24 when i wake up im always in a st....
am I right that some UK-types call the morning meal "brekkie?" I have a bet on with Grant...
yup
Their brother is kind of thoughtful too. I give thanks for my whole famdam
thx cait...got the st5??
only people who live in Berkshire.
only people who live in Berkshire.
Hi guys!
Hi stid. Yes, you are right.
Yes stid
(re brekkie, I meant)
ROFL, Dachef, thanks all! (I win)
Hi Dachef
and as a Brit I've never called the first meal of the day "brekkie" Sorry, Grant
I don't live in Berkshire, Dachef - therefore not a 'berk'. LOL.
Hi everyone. Jacula, all of my keys are in their proper place :)
When I retire I want to go and live in Old Sobury so I can say I'm and Old Sold.:)
Dachef -- someone (was it snowyowl?) said you've opened a new restaurant recently. How's that going?
Stid, I did not finish yesterday, but thanks so much for offering to help me.
Maybe it's a generation thing rather than a berk thing
Hi peri. Glad to hear it!
btw, Jacula, I absolutely agree with your icon today!
Jacula, love your icon.
that's okay peri, you got close! :-)
Hi peri
been out of Uk for 5 weeks and the first thing we did when we got back was make a proper cuppa!!AHHH!
I've always wanted to say I came from Much-Binding -in-the -Marsh
Stidmama, would you translate our icon for me?
okay, Tom reset the password for me on my website, so I need to go upload some changes. brb
I mucked that post about retiring up good & proper! When I retire I want to live in Old Sodbury, so I can say I'm an 'Old Sod'.
Peri - I think therefore I'm female.
oh peri -- I think (cogito) therefore (ergo) femina (woman) sum (I am)
(Stid's icon, that is.)
Welcome home sapphie where have you been?
see you1
Stid, okay, then I really like your icon!
Got the message, Jac. Is your Better half an old So-and-So(d)?
Hey, back again
fireworks...pretty...can't look away....must touch them.....
morning all... how many total today?
hetty - Much Binding! Never thought of that one. Kinky! LOL.
hey, lady. I explained offering up way back when.
To quote Lisa Stansfield...been around the world....USA, NZ AUS and finally Singapore!!!
nice to be back!
I missed it Hetty
Hi walnut 144 words today
thanks caitlyn!
sapphie - nothing beats that first proper cuppa!
(Welcome home, btw.)
WOW sapphie what a trip!!
yup..back to work on friday:(
Well, explained that when I actually put into words before the ground of our being the needs of the world--indvidually as well as collectively--as I know them, I call that offering up
hetty - my Other Half is 12 yrs' younger than me, but he'll probably be an Old Sod one day!LOL.
Ah, gotcha
stid - yup, opened last Wednesday. All good so far! Usual probs of everything breaking down within the first week, but hey!
would you offer up on my behalf, I sure need it
Stid can u translate your icon please??
hello everyone! nice to see you dachef!
I knew that, it's why I PHRASED IT THAT WAY, Jac, also to show how I approved ofyour term for him even though I agree with Stid's sticker
Dachef I will have to come to Swansea to eat in your resturant
"I think therefore I am a woman" right Stid?
Hi TO
Flask - Stid's gone for the moment. It means: I think (cogito) therefore (ergo) femina (woman) sum (I am) OR I think therefore I am female.
My dadalways said of my mom that she was his BETTER half
Thanks Jac!
Or you might say "I think, therefore I am a feminist"
--which is how I interpret Stid's message
hetty - Don't shout at me; you know it makes my eyes water. (As Pauline Collins used to say to John Alderton in some couples sitcom they were in years ago.):)
and why all my daughters would yell AMEN
any clues for the last de5?
does anyone have a clue for the middle u? thank you
lots of foodie words today
Did I shout at you? Do you mean the capitals? Sorry beloved jac., dry your tears (how can tears be dry?)
cogito ergo desiderium matera.
lady i wouldnt want to de5/12 you from looking for the word
Okay hetty. *sni**, sni**.*
Dachef, is that true? I just saw Jamie Oliver on Canadan TV and there's a materNa for you

~~~~~fireworks~~~~ just love these small grids!
good job judy!
yay judy!!!
congrats cj!!
ummm, we had earlier discussion about the dangers of talking politics in this otherwise friendly chat...
ty all. if anybody needs any clues, give a yell. I'll be back and forth between real work and here.
I don't mean to silence anyone, just to point out that not everyone holds the same opinions
what? Jack Bauer is a politician? When did that happen? I'd vote for him, he's nails.
dachef, actually, I laughed out loud at the jack bauer one... I meant the one mentioned earlier
Jack Bauer is incredible
tough to disagree there
YAY Judy!
Could someone help me with the ex5/20 after the vigorous action one?
hi snowyowl
all goes well so far Snowy - you'll have to pop in!
hi nrkii -Did you make a star on the sories yet/
still am not getting the ernesto reference
snowyowl, sort of... have a lot of notes, but not the first sentence... once I have the first sentence, I'll be able to write like gangbusters, but I keep procrastinating...
We are going to as soon as I get my life back in order! The littlies go back to school next week! May get to pop in for lunch
hmmm, famous scientist, enrico fe***...
fe + navy, air force, marines, a**y + vowel
Hi TO - how are you?
any hints for the ex's? I have the ex*** one's virtues one
and why not slurrer? I had quite a few beers the other night, and when I got home, according to my girlfriend, I was a slurrer. At least I think thats what she called me. Amongst other things.
put out energy is another, lady
just got that one Hursh, thanks
LOL Dachef I tried that one too and I must say I agree1
and then the longer ones... i know from the context of a computer graphics class i took... but you could maybe say opposite of breaking and entering
a person who comes into your house uninvited is an in****** / change the prefix / drop the last vowel for the 7
pu6/27 please
that clue is for lady, sorry.
like a paste machine ...it ex*****'s the pasta
liquified or made a pleasant cat noise
past tense of pu 5/14 / what you do to food in the food procssor, majmom
noise a cat makes past tense
laundry sounds like fun right now
later stidmama
ex6/33 the 1st one-have the virtue one
Okay, anyone get the last mi6?
never mind found it
nevermind
it always happens, I ask for a clue, then find the word
that's called "pulling a peri"
so to peri is now a verb?
someone call Babble quick
no, pull is the verb, peri is still a noun
(and Babble does take the noun peri.)
coolness!
"pulling a peri"? That sounds rude. Most health manuals discourage you from doing that. They say you could go blind.
clue for ex 6 virtue please?
nevermind...
Do you Brits still say "pulling birds" for getting girls?
How about the mu5/14, the one right before dogs of dubious character?
add vowel to mu4 before that
mu5/14 - sea bird, add a vowel to the previous mu4.
missing first ex 5/20, clues pls?
heya torgone!
Brits that do shouldn't tor! LOL
heya hurshy!
ex5/20 - put forth effort
Is that a rude phrase?
"heya hurshy!" isn't rude at all
perhaps 2nd one cos i have that, sorry
Ah, another sea bird
how can there be so many sea birds? where do they land when they need a rest?
They land only on large rocks far out to sea.
not really -but we've got so PC here! It just sounds really old fashioned now - I think going out 'on the pull' is the saying of the moment!
ok, going to lunch, back soon
what if they can't make it? do they fall in the sea and drown?
ex5/20 - praise, ends like what you pay on the turnpike
all the sea birds are outside my houise - attacking the swans.
No, the other saebirds gather round and hold them up. It's quite touching really.
thanks vicuna
But Dachef, I thought you'd deterned your yard. Have they reterned?
aw, they're almost as good as dolphins then!
The three yr old just counting for a game of hide & seek...... nine...ten... eleventy!
bbl
btw, did you know that dolphin trainers have a signal for "do any trick you want", and the dolphins all go under and communicate with each other and come out and do the same trick in sync
Just kidding. If one of them falters, the others probably peck it to death and eat it. What do I know?
my window looks out over the marina (yup, posh!), and every time I try and check bread at the swans about a million seagulls appear ouit of thin air and attack them.
That's cool, hurshy!
i know, it's so amazing
s7,36 please
We were at the Marina last Monday Dachef -what happened to all the bars & night clubs -You ought to look at setting up a really classy something down there.
sl7/36 - the way Dachef talked after a few too many beers
and also, experimenters have found that some animals like chimps and parrots actually have abstract concepts. like if you show them things that are square, and then you bring them a tray full of things they have never seen, you can say, pick out the square ones, and they will.
or red or whatever
Wow, I'm almost as smart as a parrot!
Thanks, Vic, I thought i tried that, but then again maybe I didn't
lol vi
LOL Vicuna!
hey bubba...what your speach sounds like after afew too many drinks
snowy - no thanks, I live there now. Its nice and quiet. Leave the drunken girls with their tiny skirts to the town centre... wait, what am I saying?!?!?
As long as they learn how to taste good . .
TOR!
I don't think the 3 yr old has grasped the concept of hide & seek yet. Every time it's her turn to hide she shouts cockadoodledoo!!!! from her hiding place until someone finds her!
<takes wooden spoon off torgone to stop him stirring things up>
What? I had parrot tacos and monkey stew for supper last night ..
ah, snowy, when i was a kid i would hide without telling my mom i was going to, so then i would call out, "say, 'where's (hurshy)?'" and my mom would say it (with my real name of course), and i would say, "say, 'where could she be?'", and she would say that too
I played hide-and-seek with my parents when i was a kid. I once hid in the garage for 3 years. I dont think my parents really wanted to find me.
*studiously ignores tor*
My kids still think the point of any hiding game is for the hider to show the searcher the hidden thing as soon as possible. (It doesn't matter whether the hidden thing is themselves or some little toy.)
*pats dachef on the back*
Just kidding .. I'm an imp, you know ..
so you've mentioned :)
I've been tempted to fail to find mine... I think that's why at this age they all make SURE they're found without delay.
*sings* she caught the katy, left me a mule to ride...
?
just singing along with my itunes vi, no reason
LOL! A lovely selection of hide & seek stories! Maybe we should tell them to nrkii. Please wish me & my bathroom lusk -off to shower the littlies. I'll be back later.
luck
luck!
*sighs in relief and stops looking for a connection*
what is lusk? some sort of welsh soap? ah, oh
Blues Bros., Taj Mahal, or Big Joe Williams?
blues brothers
Have fun, snowy!
ok. back
*sings to tor* it's not the pale moon that excites me, that thrills and delights me... oh no, it's just the nearness of you
everyone is singing today
Lickety's list says 144 words today and Brandyjack's list says 149. Which is correct?
That's sweet . .*blushes*
$1.44
144
ty, that means I am finished, hurray
Congrats, Mary!
bj's list doesn't say 149, it says 144
hi friends!
hey, ping!
hi ping!
hi Ping
Noob question, could someone explain what the tile stats mean? Why is there an R 0/2 and R 0/0 ? Thanks!
helo une and abe and fran!
cl are the first two letters of the word manda, and 7 is the number of letters in the word
manda- we give each other clues for words on the grid. cl 7 means that the word begins with cl and has 7 letters
ooohhhh, thx
tile stats show how many words start from each tile ts52
hi Ping
the R0/0 tile doesn't have any words that start from it
aha, the tile, not just the letter. got it! Thanks!
fran, how often to you use the list?
hi lynx
i'm using it now, i try to get at least two thirds done before i go to it though, which i did today
lol rae. maybe earth will be next!
a quick question for you experts? I've read the help files, and there's just one thing: if you don't already know a specific word, is there a way to see that you're missing, say, CL7? Or do you only that after you find it? Thanks for your help!
or just by a symbol
What's Pluto now, a planette?
that looks like pluto the dog
yes a symbol!
a planetoid?
Poor Pluto - it's a dog's life...
"My vision, erased. Mercy! Just some underachiever now." (as spoken by Pluto discoverer Clyde Tombaugh)
i read a list of funny ones somewhere
tulipp - if you scroll down there's a list of "friends of babble". You can get stats for all the possible games off the Babbler's Anonymous site (under general info, i think) or Lickety's Babble Clues
yeah, like he could see pluto clearly in 1930
Is there a website to offer Pluto our sympathies? Maybe donations to the Bring Back Pluto Fund.
he just guessed it was there because of the movements
Most vexing experience, mother just served us nothing!
yes...nh needs to get a new state quarter
yw tulipp
i thought it was hilarious
My connection's been quite bad, so this is late, but the new 'planet' definition I saw ended up excluding not only Pluto, but Neptune and Earth as well...
We;; rolin, mine is not very clear either, but you can read it when you enlarge it
*scratches head* b/c there's only 144 words today. sometimes i enter words in lickety's list and forget to enter them here, but sounds like you've got everything....
time to email dr. god, i think.
That happened to me last week, the word list had some word duplicated, I had to e-mail Dr-God and he removed the dups and then it functioned correctly
ok last call for clues - and anyone want a library book?
The u all on it's own in the last row?
You know, I tried to enter all 3 again, but of course it said I had already entered all three. Let me ask this. It shows I need one more for the T in column 4 row 4 (says I have 8/9), what does it show for you? Also says I have 20/21 6 letter words.
Sorry, 2nd last row
mu5/14 please
bye all! see you tomorrow!
i'm off to have some of my favorite berry - the liberry! (manda - fingernails is cr4 - cr5 rhymes with "attitude")
ty
bye to - stay dry!
crude
under fingernails should be cr4, cr5 is that+vowel, cr6 is a little more of that..
ARGH
yeah that's the one dalc.
another cr 5 is plural of fingernails' cr 4
I'll just stay away from the chatterbox now, y'all
if i belch and scratch my butt more i would be cr6
Can anyone tell me how many T's they need for the T in column 4/**
Fiz, it depends you might be unemployed or possibly just need another beer.
I'm still not getting the mu5/14. Help please?
Peri, ex + what you pay to go over a bridge (take off one of the repeated l=etters),then pl
got it now, thanks bubba
er 5:; when you walk upright you are er****, change second vowel to u
in your example the cu means the letters the word starts with; the first number is the number of letters in the word; the second number is the number of points or woerth of the word
Bubba, I love your icon
Hi folks. I'm back to find my last 6 words.
hi... I need to know: is anyone having trouble accessing the Babble Icons Calendar?
thanks, but not mine, I just copied it
Well, I like the saying
Angel - Don't even know what that is... *now wondering what she's missed*.
Angel, I get the icons calendar at: http://www.playbabble.com/view_profile /6719
Welcome back Jac.
hallooooooooo
Jac: you will find a link to the Babble Icons Calendar on the second page of the online Babble resource guide. I need to know if the calendar loads normally. Someone has reported having problems with it.
Hey evan
Okay, Angel. I'll take a look when I've finished the grid.
Jac--how is bunny?
the 8 letter words, tell me one's first letter and which is that letter, please :)
cl 8, ex 8, te 8, tu8
Scrabbler - bunny was nursed through the night and more maggots removed (on vet's advice), went to vet's next morning and had injection to kill off any remaining eggs & maggots plus injection of antibiotics. He's on daily antibiotics now and we have a thing called 'Rearguard' to spray all the bunnies' bums with. Apparently, it stops any eggs laid from hatching & is effective for 10 weeks. Bunny is more lively but felt rather cold to me when I gave him his meds earlier. (Not a good sign, considering his a stroke survivor. Hope the stress of it all doesn't do for him.)
hey nutster...nice bumper sticker
se you all later
hello & bbfn, I've been lurking
Hi & 'bye, harp.
I have been thinking about your rabbit since I first heard of his illness. I have been through Pasteurella with 2 of mine, inlcuding the head tilt, so I know about nursing them back to health, feeding by dropper, etc. Warm him up with bottles filled with hot water, or put him under lights, or wrap him in a blanket. Good luck. What is his name?
Scrabbler - I've nursed 2 bunnies through Pasteurella in the past, and quite a few through strokes too. Thanks for thinking of him. He's a black rabbit, nearly 8-yrs-old and his name is Joey (after Joey from 'Friends').
I have a black one, well, an American Tan, named Tucker John. Also, a Netherland dwarf named Sebastian. A Palomino named Callie. And a mini Rex named Gandalf. I am a bunny nut so it is nice to meet another.
Speaking of Pasteurella, we had a big beige rabbit who got that about a week after we had her. The vet we went to at the time advised us to have her put down. Needless to say, we did not, and she went on to spend 5 years happily sharing a hutch with little Joey. (And the head tilt DID go in time.)
Gandalf has had skin abscesses and is on enrofloxacin for life, at $1/day, since he recovered after being ill from Jan-April.
We had about 18 rabbits at one time but now it's just the 4 (who are all between 7 & 8-yrs'-old). There's Joey (black Netherland Dwarf), Daphne (grey Netherland Dwarf who turned out much bigger than either her tiny mother (Morgan), her bigger father (Elton) or her mini sister (Daphne). Then there are 2 English lops (brothers) called Chandler & Flossie. (We thought Flossie was a girl at first!)
Scrabbler - is Gandalf a house rabbit? If not, I expect you, too, have to be vigilant for flies?
They sound adorable! Sebastian is my bitty 2 lb sweetheart that sleeps with me.
(Incidentally, Chandler's beige & Flossie is white with brown & beige patches.)
Callie was Calvin for 7 mo until it was clear that he was a she.
*smiles* Anybody coming in here will think they logged into Bunnies 'R' Us by accident! LOL
Hmm, are we bothering Babblers with our bunny talk?
Oh dear! Did you end up with baby Callies?
Dunno, Scrabbler. I expect they'll say if we are!
Mine are all litterbox trained. Callie is alone downstairs, then the boys each have their own bedroom upstairs.
No--never any babies, and if I ever did have a litter, it would be impossible to give them away.
evening all, how goes the battle
not me..i enjoy bunny talk
I call my house Rabbitat!
*fireworks*
Great job, Riemann
,mkakees me want one
congrats
Well done, riemann! *~*~*~*~*~
congrats riemann
16 left for me to go
Bunnies are smart, sociable, and very sweet. Their bunniness is what makes them special.
cl8?
thx all.
the past tense of what the vote is called to stop a filibuster in the senate
Oh dear, I don't know politics at all
de5/12?
stop stop schmoo
to stop not stop stop, lol
We only ever bred 2 of our rabbits. Hazel (a brown Netherland Dwarf) had 3 babies but one died at birth, the other was only half-formed and the other grew to be the sweetest doe, just like her Mum. Sadly, she died for no apparent reason at 1-yr-old. The other rabbit we bred was Bernie (the grey Netherland). Unfortunately, she gave birth a fortnight before Nov. 5th (Bonfire Night) and kids setting fireworks off in the street outside caused her to panic and kill are 3 newborns.
*all 3 newborns.
cl8 is past tense of cl7. Begins with cl4/5 and ends like another word for a photo or painting.
babble is impossible for non-native
i was only able to get 53 words
Yes, Jacula. She's leftover from fancy hat theme day.
yah..yah..it's the top of a castle ...now give me my clues...
pam- theme is 'bumper stickers'. 'Fender stickers' to you lot in US, I guess?
lol
Thanks. Got the tu's, Jacula.
Judi - if I could have looked like anyone it would have been her in that role!
Thx, Jac. Nope, they are bumper stickers. But, a small accident is a fender bender...
Mu's are miserable. I think I'm looking for the same three you want, bean.
Bean - now... let's see... shall I clue you in or talk about bunnies or Ms. Hepburn some more...? *grins*
hello babblers! any ideas on the first mu5,16?
they make a mess...(but they are cuddly
hi, bambam...
Hi Bambam. Hang on...
hi pampam and jac!
lol, bam!
Bean - mu5/24 - you know lurex and durex aren't accepted in this grid... well, guess what?;)
what the heck kind of stupidhead word is THAT, lol!
roflmao
Oh, and thanks, jac, for the clue
Bean - mu5/14 = mu4/6 (like the cat sound) with a vowel at the end.
Bambam - first mu5/16 - Don't know what it means, but it kind of sounds like the sticky invention named after burddocks.
Bean - mu4/6 - a wrong spelling of a word for dogs. (Remove a consonant.)
Uhg. Got all the mu's. Now I need the mi6/21.
i already have that one judi
Judi, didn't get your clue! mi6,21 is something you look into to see yourself!
a different clue for the burddocks mu, please?
Bambam - mu5/16 is Latin for 'a sharp point'. Sounds like that decongestant tablet 'Mu***n* (if you have that brand in Oz.)
actually there are 3 of those, i need the 2nd one sorry!
the last mu4,6 pleasee
pam - the mu word that rhymes with glittery material and condoms (or sticky tape in Oz [I believe?]) means: 1. any marine gastropod of the genus Mu***, common in tropical seas, certain species of which yield the royal purple dye valued by the ancients. 2. a shell used as a trumpet, as in representations of Tritons in art. 3. purplish red.
pam - the mu word that rhymes with glittery material and condoms (or sticky tape in Oz [I believe?]) means: 1. any marine gastropod of the genus Mu***, common in tropical seas, certain species of which yield the royal purple dye valued by the ancients. 2. a shell used as a trumpet, as in representations of Tritons in art. 3. purplish red.
the one after wet dirt
No, I didn't know that either! My monkeys found the word!
lol, jac!!!!
Bambam - the mu5 after the wet dirts means:1. to deprive (someone) of something, as by fraud, extortion, etc.; swindle. 2. to obtain (money or the like) by fraud, extortion, etc. 3. to punish (a person) by fine, esp. for a misdemeanor. –noun 4. a fine, esp. for a misdemeanor.
Bambam - sounds like what the farmer did to the cow to relieve the heaviness of her udder. (No smut now!!)
someone pass me a fish !
Good evening to my fellow babblers!How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
Hi, Min
hahah thanks Jac, fireworks..... who needs a clue!
Don't think I recall seeing any fish in today's grid, Bambam. They must be hiding in the re5/12.
yay, bambam
Hello Minver! I'm in good spirits, thanks.
what the kiwi farmer did to the cow ahhahah
I have tile stats and I haven't joined yet. I wonder if it is a mistake.I don't know how they work anyway.I like to use Lickety's list instead of using my tile stats
Fe6/33, anyone?
Bambam! *wags finger in a warning kind of way, whilst cracking up laughing*
Well done, Bambam!
judi--sounds like a latin singluar for f****S wheel
fe6,33 is a wild ***al cat, plus a 3-letter liquor
Thanks.
Min--i monkey, search, use the clues, and then as I find more words, look to the stats to see what the words I am missing start with. Don't use Lickety's
Judi - the word means 'iron'. Take an fe* start and then add a sailor's favourite drink.
de4/6 please
nice clue, bambam!
peri--epi****is
thanks pam
monkey?
yw
peri - think of skin. (See pam's clue below.) If not, listen to my neighbour shortening her hubby's name. LOL.
i only have 17 to go
yay,. peri!!!!!!!
bean - the feel or thickness of something.
WELL DONE, PERI! *~+*~+*~+*~
those du words had me stomped but my monkeys kicked in at the end
te7,52 is how something feels .... i love the te7,52 of that food, or that fabric etc
what's a monkey?
can't stay, see you all tomorrow
thanks everyone got it
Manda the monkey is when you just madly type every combination you can think of to get words
It's a mammal, related to the primates, with opposable thumbs and tails...
nighty night Peri
i meant what does it mean when you say it on here? ;)
ciao, peri
LOL!
thank you bambam
Think velvet, satin, silk, a thick rug, bean. Oops! Getting carried away... shurrup, Jac.
LOL, matty.
fe6,33 again plz i cant figure it out
te7,52 = schools use te**books, and animal excrement is called man***
fe6,33 is an amusement park has a fe**is wheel, plus babies suck their th**bs
shorty - fe + consonant that makes the word sound like animal hair + a spirit loved by sailors.
****is buhler + ho ho ho and a bottle of r**
16 men on a dead man's chest, ho ho ho and a bottle of r**!
back again, had to take a phone call
Hi bubba. It's really inconsiderate of people to interuupt Babbling time, isn't it? LOL.
st 6,24
*interrupt
life does get in the way, at times
bean i usually end up in a drunken st****
bean - st6/24 - if you drink too much you may end up in a drunken one.
Bambam - is that Castlemaine 4X or Fosters? LOL.
well in Oz it would be VB (Victoria Bitter) but since I'm such a well-travelled and wordly type, my favourite beer is Asahi Super Dry from the Land of the Rising Sun (and sick sexual fetishes)
how bout the pu 5,14...the last one
and when i'm in scotland or ireland i love the ales like Bellhaven Best or Velvet and of course Guiness!
I heard it is hard to drink when you are tied up
but in the tropics its hard to beat an icy cold bottle of Asahi
Hi everybody!
shorty.... if you're not smart you are ****id, + either this ** that
bubba - that reminds me. I said much earlier on in the log that, when I reture, I would like to retire to the village of Old Sodbury so that I can say I am an Old Sod. Then Hetty, I think it was, said she's like to retire to Much-Binding-In-The-Marsh (another UK village). Kinky! LOL.
*retire, not reture!
Could someone give me a clue for the ni 6/36 please
They hide there kinkiness behind the stiff upper lip in the UK
you see those s****** dogs at the airport trying to find drugs
Buttonman - ni6/36 is someone who smells!
past tense of tu6,21 shorty...
the tu 8/50 is the past tense of the tu 6/21
tu8 is the top of a castle or the tope portion of a tank, past tense
should be top, not tope
the switch ***ns on and off + green be***
I don't get it JACULA
bubba - Victorian Britain was rife with kinkiness and drug taking (amidst the slums and squalor). The so-called 'upper' classes even put covers on piano legs for 'modesty'... but what they were up to behind closed doors! More hypocritical then than now. (Though 'now' takes a bit of beating at times! No pun intended.)
Just saw the log about Old Sodbury - why not move to Loose in Kent you could join the Loose Womens Institure or even the Loose Bowls Club (honest!!)
sl 5,14 pleasseeee
Maybe that is why we call it "jolly" old England
the rich and idle have always been kinky, and i attribute it more to so much spare time than anything.... who's got time for all that stuff these days??
Buttonman - if you want to smell something, or maybe if your nose is about to drip, you sn***. Take the first letter off and then make the word 'one who sn***s'.
Hi jilli. Thanks for the mail. Will answer in kind later, if I can find the family research I did. Your story was fascinating.
gooo feather!
FranMag - a gooey feather cannot fly!
cr4/6, riding cr**
jac - does being taurean account for naughtiness?
jilli - most definitely!
oh jilli, i love your bumper sticker!
opps already had it hehe thanks tho :)
Okay, Jacula... just what drugs are you on and why aren't you sharing them??
jac, i'm afraid to ask, why would it be gooey?
oh good - I wondered what was causing it ;)
Judi - you disappoint me! Did you not try the mattress out in the shop?
Fran - you said 'goooo Feather'. Oh, never mind. LOL.
ooh! lol
and I love YOUR bumper sticker, jac!
Of course we tried it out. It's a Tempurpedic. So, hubby bounced while I just laid there. LOL!
lol, i just noticed that jac!
Judi, that is the way it always se3ems to be
cu5/14 clue anyone?
judi, that's my dream mattress, they're 1600 here!
shorty, if you mean the last one, just change last letter of the one before it
What on earth is tempurpedic? (And what would it score on the Babble grid?)
ok, 59 left, list time
feather - just ask when you need to.
jac, it's that space-age foam mattress that conforms to your body
don't worry, i will! entering words in the list right now.....
Ah! Re the mattress. What does it do if you diet (or reverse)?
Envy me, Franmag. Although, ironically, we'll probably be sleepless worrying about the $1600 we promised. (12 months, no payments, interest free).
I had the tempur mattress, but now I have the sleep comfort air type, I like ti better, but I guess that is personal preference
$1600? That's about £800 & something here in UK?
So, what you're saying Bubba, is that you've slept around.
jac, it springs back each time, i don't think it stays one shape
I guess that is waht I was saying
Sounds good, FranMag. I'll stick with our Hippo & Chick mattress for now. We only bought it 2 years' ago.
Yes, Jacula. Outrageous, I know. However - we were spoiled for our waterbed, but didn't want to deal with the hassle of it any more.
Thereto - one spends 1/3 of one's life sleeping, so, I guess it can be argued that it's a good investment.
I agree,
A good mattress (with an unsqueaky frame) is most definitely a good investment!
LU 4, 6?
I remember lying on an uncomfortable hospital bed (right next to the nurses' station, so no peace 24/7) after having my 1st child. Every time I breathed in or out, the bloody thing squeaked. I started to see how long I could hold my breath...
Not good!
Hi again Scrabbler! lu4/6 sounds kind of 'rude'.
One can only appreciate a good mattress after they have slept or tried to sleep on a bad mattress
BTW, Scrabbler.. we should get together on MSN or Yahoo Messenger re our bunnies.
bubba - very true! Also, you should try sleeping on one that has the broken metal ends of the springs poking through! You tape 'em up until you are heavily pregnant. Then you have nightmares about you and your baby being coiled to the mattress and dead etc...
I would love to keep talking about our rabbits--no one else ever wants to hear me talk about them except my sister that has 5 of her own. E-mail = adkheaven@yahoo.com
cu5/14 the first one plz
TY, Jac--I swear I tried that word before, but I guess I didn't.
Jac, I think you have major mattress issues, perhaps a whort call to Dr. Phil and you will start to feel better
the first cu5/14 is a plural
Shorty, do you mean the occu** and pl, or another one?
cu 4, 6 + consonant, there are two different 5,14's one pl, one more than
Thanks for that Scrabbler. For future reference, since these chatlogs go into internet archives, you should just briefly put your e-mail addy up on your profile. Tell the person you want to contact that you are doing so and ask them to tell you when they have got it. Then remove it. Too many nutters out there...
forget the plural, I was delusional for a moment
I have more than one e-mail address, and that is the more anonymous one.
bubba - I'm fine now; I have a great mattress (plus a great mattress tester). I was just talking about the old days.... LOL
Scrabbler - that was the next thing I was going to say. Have more than one e-mail addy and use each appropriately.
OK, I will not be finishing tonight--I must watch the US Open, as I will do for the next 2 wks.
Sorry if I was telling my grandmother to suck eggs! No, I don't mean that in an ageist way, Scrabbler.
I will look forward to hearing from you Jacula.
ahhh im so confused i have the first cu5/14 on lickety's but the second one i guess is the one im looking for sorry lol
You will be hearing from me, Scrabbler. Anf seeing the bunnies. I hope for likewise type returns...
Well done, jilli!
ahh, thanks
must go now and catch up on stid's story while sipping a vodka - back soon to help if poss
yea jilli
Hopefully Ketel one, enjoy
The 2005 version of King Kong was, in my opinion, too long winded at the start, (but was true to the book, which actually came out just before the first film version did, even though it was written from the screenplay). In the end, though, it still made me cry at the greed, stupidity and vanity of much of the human race. (But that was the message it meant to convey.)
ed 5/16 clue?
er5/14?
And speaking of the greed, stupidity and vanity of much of the human race - what the hell is that with rebuilding the civic centre of New Orleans 1 year after Katrina hit?
er+ D*** tape featherbee
shorty - e + du4/7.
ed + d*** tape
oh! i was trying something similar, but not quite. ty
then plural
ty should known :)
Why is money being spent on marble paving slabs and palm trees when peoples' homes are still wrecked and rotting?
good for you Jilli - was off for a bit
any clues for the two mu5/16 words please?
Hi everybody - I hadn't heard that about New Orleans, Jac - that is very disturbing.
I'll get off my soapbox, yet again, re New Orleans. The only thing I can think is that it was a mainly 'black' city and so... no real aid. Over a million of the aid sent from overseas has been misappropriated, it seems.
Jac, unfortunately this country is deep in the victim mentality, New Orleans could and should have been evacuated. It's mayor waffled and then hid on the tope of its tallest hotel so he wouldn't be involved. Then blamed everyone but himself. He still can't mange to allot the money given to the city. It is a shame and he blames everyone he can. Typical
bubba - I saw him on TV tonight - he allotted money to restore the civic buildings!
mu+ the stuff that holds two things together vel***
bubba-How right and those people re-elected the mayor!
The black city nonsense is just that, the city has received more aid then any other city. It is mismanagement not racial that is the problem. But it is easier to scream about race then stupidity and ineptness
It's a pity you don't still have Ronald Reagan as president. He may have seemed a fool at times, but he wasn't one.
cu6/27
bubba - I can only speak as a UK outsider re New Orleans. The mayor is black though.
thanks shorty, not getting it tho - will keep working
Reagan only seemed the fool if one read or even more incredibly believes the NY Times or the LOndon Times.
pu6/27? (not the past of pu5/14)
mu+ a black bird ***W
So, where's the mismanagement coming from and why? If I seem a tad abrupt re this, it is because a friend of my Other Half lost everything she owned when Katrina hit.
Yes the Mayor is blacik, but he is more inportantly incompetent, and a whiner
flosey mu+ scare***w without a brain
The Mayor had hundreds of buses to evacuate the city, but couldn't make a decision. The city is below sea level and the levees are old. Where were his concerns the day before the storm hit the city??
The Tempurpedic is here! Going to roll around with reckless abandon, now. Goodnight, all!
thanks shorty, that did it
no prob
cu6/27 clue?
past tense of cu 4,6
now need the second mu5/16 please
The mayor sounds like our PM, Blair. Nuff said! Imay be used to arguing politics since my student days and in recent times, since my son was a student of history and politics, and I held my own against his 'lefty' friends (though he is so right wing, even I baulk at his ideas sometimes!)
mu+ the color of blood
mu5,16 a horse like animal is a mu*e = abbreviation of connecticut
the second cr 5/16 please?
...but, one 'rule' I have learned over 49 years is, 'never argue politics or religion with friends'. Nuff said. I think I have made my Thatcherite stance clear.
I'm new around here, btw. Just discovered this game.
Welcome joesgirl.
Too much passion in politics,,especially today, people become very belligernet and nasty, maybe because they are afraid that they are wrong.
thanks Jacula
plural of cr4/7, joesgirl.
hi joesgirl
curd
shoot - sorry
thanks for the clue!
bubba - my life's rule has been 'be true to what you believe' but don't start a war over it unless you have to. Regaining the Falklands was a case in point.
hi there gardengirl
mu5/16 second one, after the mucky one please
Jac, I agree, principles should apply, not just the current in thinking.
flosey - sounds like what the farmer did to get milk from the cow.
mu6/27 after is the plural.
an animal like a horse is a mu*e + abbrev. of connecticut
Jac, don't say milk a cow to Flosey, you'll hurt her feelings
why bubba?
hello to all
Hi Blaze
My kids watch a show where the cows name is Flossey
bubba what was cu6/27 clue again?
oh, my kids are much older bubba, not familiar with those programs anymore
and that's another nickname I was blessed with
But mu4/7 (if it was allowed in the grid IS the Latin word for milk or pail!
cu 6,27 cu + drive the ca* + color of lips
love your picture Blaze!
sigh thanks all my c's are complete bubba
well done
Hi Blaze.
So, have the mising mu words been found?
*missing
Blaze - I'm going to have to find my Lyn Skyn cd now and listen to that!
a pleasure to know you....
Well, I would find and listen to it if I'd got my vari-foca; specs! *Wanders off from grid muttering, 'Whre the bloody hell IS it??'
AhHA!
Found it!
Jac I thought you had it on your computer...??
lyn skyn that is not your specs
Not the long, live version, unfortunately. But, there again, I think I only have that on vinyl...
Silly woman, me!
er 5/10
past tense of mu 4/6 - de****, feather
it takes lots of time and patience, bbnaz ;)
good evening all
hi andy
hello andy, and everyone else!
wassssssssup
ex5/20 both clues plz
mu 5/16 anyone? the first one pls
loving all the bumper stickers
bnaz - it comes with practise, working off the box clues...
ex 5/20 - to put forth or into use, as power; exercise, as ability or influence; put into vigorous action:
to ex*** effort or energy, shorty
uh, stupid question, but what's a "box clue"?
ex 5/20 - second one - to praise
Oh no, it's no good... this version of Lyn Skyn's Freebird doesn't build up with 'what is it you wanna hear, people, etc.
*slides onto the stage, mic in hand* Hello, Babble Land!
brid I don't get your question
brid, the tile stats under the puzzle... there are three words that start with u, etc.
hey Leslie I learned something new lol
Fiz!! I was contemplating buying that T-shirt
hello fiz! nice entrance
ahhhh, thanks. I'm new (and it shows).
so anyone has the mu 5/16 - the first one?
A box clue is one re the stats you get free as a pro player and alsoi in your first 2 weeks as a non-pro player. Incidentally, Dr_God is doing an fortnight free offer on the stats at the moment, to non-pro (i.e. non-paying playuers).
np brid, if you need clues try "lickety's babble clues" link under friends of babble
i have it leslie and it helps weed out potential friends - if they can't figure it out i don't want to talk to them. how snobby am i?
the second mu5/16? i messed up and asked for the wrong one.
Great icon, and entrance, Fiz!
hey everyone!
the first mu5/16 is like very tiny, mi***scopic, but change the vowel
ugh - i can't believe i left myself 45 to go!
not at all! if you can't properly converse with people, it will just bother you forever anyway
feather - second mu 5/16 is past tense of the mu 4/6 b4 it
mu5/16 - like a m****scope but different first vowel, andy. and thanks - i'm rockin' out while taking out the trash and thought i'd translate my rockstar fantasies.
Fiz, where did you get that Tshirt?? I MUST have it!!
hi hk!
thanks feather
tarak - onehorseshy.com. first thing i ever bought off a blog ad!
anyway - just came back to see if i can help anyone with clues and to procrastinate cleaning the catbox.
nope, that's the third one andy, but thanks for trying!
It's no good! I'm going to have to buy that bloody turntable that allows you to put vinyl onto computer.... there's nothing to beat Lyn Skyn's live version of 'Freebird'. I've got it on both video and vinyl tape for my kids to play at my funeral.... but I'll have it on computer mem stick, too.
If they don't send me out with that, I WILL haunt them\!
feather are you looking for the 2nd mu5/16? it's like a bark mixture you put on top of a garden but change the last letter to a cross
was it on gofugyourself fiz? that's where i keep seeing it, i think
oh dude, that's awesome! i need another t-shirt like a hole in the head but that tee speaks volumes about what I think about people's piss poor grammar...
ph Jac... I am sorry that my story is causing you such upset....
I assume, they can manage Sinead O'Connor's vid version of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' without my help? I want that, too.
lol jacula
*laughing at Fiz*
i typed in that n6 as a joke... i can't believe that's a word
However, my Mum still drives me nuts, though I love her to bits. I once 'saw' her in the mi6/21 when I was at the hairdresser's. She wasn't there... it was me! OMIGOD! Becoming my Grandmother (maternal one) is another worry... she used to interrupt film or programme watching on TV with remarks like, 'He was in so-and-so! What Was it? What's his name? Oh, YOU KNOW!' Erm... I seem to be doing that now.
lol leslie - i did the same thing from desperation and, sure enough...
lol Leslie
I need help with the n word! Help!
sally, i think there are a few. maybe mu + stick letter + abbr. for connecticut?
sallyds - there's 2 - first is like a bark covering for a garden, change the last letter to a cross
I certainly hope not, Jac
;-D
Got that one. It's the very last one so you can imagine....
other mu5/16 is mu+ a primary color (not blue or yellow)
I'll check that site out, Wolfie, since I do still tailor a garment or two, when asked.
oops I missed the grand mother thing what timewas the podt
I meant buttons with sayings, Jac
wolfie do boys turn into their fathers and grandfathers?
hey grey woulf - i hope i don't regret asking this - but what's a 'grue'?
Thanks for that but I have it too. It must be the third. ;)
Erm, re Nancy Buttons - just found the site but haven't looked at it yet. Was a bit worried by this message on the site - Please store your link to this site in a cool, dry place near your bank account.
It certainly seems to be the case, Fiz -- though I can only testify to the father bit -- both my grandfathers passed before I could ever get to know them while I was young
like a mi***wave, change vowel, sally?
hi babblers...how is it going?
"The grue, according to scholars of the Great Underground Empire, is a sinister, lurking presence in the dark places of the earth."
hi whitewitch!
hi whitewitch!
hi, whitewitch!
hi witch
It is a reference to one of the first text adventure games ever made -- Zork
please, please ask for clues - i really don't want to do the catbox!
is this chat going at lightening speed or am I ??
minuf
hi ww and hk
Maybe but I don't get it. Wave?
sorry
cl7?
gw - oh, alrighty then - :)
A bit of both, Blaze
my boyfriend is teasing me
like where you reheat your food - the mi***wave. also means mini
sally - a food re-heater - a mi***wave - the stars indicate missing letters. but change the first letter
O kay then... I better get faster
cl7 is a legal term. clo****
You have our permission to punish him as you see fit, witch :)
Wolfie - your Mum seems like a sassy lady to me... but that's an outsider's view, I guess? Having said that, one Babbler had a bumper sticker on here earlier that said something like 'unadventurous women don't make history'.
cl7 is a term for ending debate in the political realm. kinda sounds like high-end clothes such as carson from queer eye might suggest.
gw - i remember playing an adventure game on the computer - before the advent of graphics - but all i remember is that 'xyzzy' was like a safety valve .... wow, that was a long time ago!
Or 'good' women, or'obedient' women, or something like that.
ty grey...lol
hi pals
Jac, I believe it was virtuous women do not make history
hi, ping
Fiz--got it and got fireworks!
Fireworks, thanks for clues folks
I never promised to 'obey' when I got married. I only promised what I knew I could do...
jacs - i think "well behaved"
hi stewie, i mean ping!
yay sally! hi ping!
thanks for the cl 7/8!
women who follow the rules rarely make history or something along those lines
hoooray flosey! hooray sally!
Congrats, flosey
That's the one, hk -- the other magic word that I remember is 'plugh'
oh my sorry a little slow on that one
hi ping!!!! and congrats to flosey and sally
it's eleanor roosevelt, i know, hold on...
LOL LA
no! mae west i think
hi pam, hi fiz
hi annie and hk!
LOL gw - that's the same game??? LOL - who needed fancy color graphics when you had a perfectly good black screen & a vivid imagination!!!!
love the icon ping.
Jac -- you could call my mum sassy, though I prefer to think of her as unrestrained by society-- she does her own thing and usually does it pretty well
thanks all, congrats sally
hiya ping!
sounds like a neat woman, greywoulf
exactly, hk -- though you did have to think around corners at times to match the limited vocab that the programmers used
I discovered, when my Other Half mistakenly wrote the Babble Stats as 24 q's (EEK!) a day or two ago, that a quadragenarian is what I am.
ty wassup
nope, neither - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich Well behaved women rarely make history.
off to make dinner. goodnight
just signing on -- eveing all
hello pbr, bye wasssssssup
hi pbr, bye wassup, thanks for looking that up, leslie
I am back, hello pbr
she is, pam -- she shows up here sometimes -- she is hootowl -- I gave her pro status for mother's day
hi inge!
nice gift, greywoulf. haven't seen her, but I will pay attention...
and it is so true, LA -- after all, no one has ever made history by maintaining the status quo
yeah, where has hoot been?
Wolfie - your Mum's a soulmate! Mind you, I stioll can't let go of my kids... a fault, my O/H tells me...:(
greywoulf that's a great gift!
been working way tooo hard and have not had time to babble -- let's see how far i can get tonight
But, what would he know? His only child is just 11.
true, enough, Greywoulf
gw - "think around corners" is a great way of putting it - WOW - there's a blast from the past - you don't happpen to remember what it was called, do you?
A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead
te7 please?
Tuesday's Gone With The Wind by Lynyrd Skynyrd. LOL.
wait! i see it!!!!
that was Zork I, helen -- and I do have to admit I never got the opportunity to finish the game myself -- I always managed to get to a place that I couldn't work my way out of and would quit to try again later
no clue it!
oh wait i have it already too... force of habit i guess :)
lol
Feathrbee, i need the te7 - help!
can someone give me a push in the ex7/8 combo direction?
ok so just in case anyone else needs the te7 - it's the way something feels - "i don't eat bananas b/c i don't like the te7"
leslie ann -- to squeeze out, like frosting or pasta from a machine
courdoroy (sp again, sorry!) pants have a nice te*****
Jac -- Kristianna is only 3 and I am already getting misty over losing her to marriage when she is older -- there is a new country song out titled, 'I loved her first' which I have earmarked to play at her wedding
I have not quitted re Babble almost to the point of.. well, no matter. It's sorted now. I've had a lot to contend with, as have many others, but I still keep on keeping on... hence the Freebird funeral sendout song.
leslie - a pasta machine or the play-doh fun factory is one of these
LA ex...to push through like playdoh
leslie--not in***** as in unwelcome, but ex*****
(No, I am not an overemotional dad at times, eh?)
lol, greywoulf
i have 2 t's and an e 8, anyone know the fourth 8? and a clue would be nice too ( i want it all) lol
gw - exactly the same thing would happen to me -also i worked at a small place called the westinghouse evaluation institute - like 10 people & of course, only the one computer, so i had to be judicious with my usage ;) -although almost everyone would get involved - "try going west!!" lol
ex + am upright consonant with a slash + a word that means 'impolite'.
lol greywoulf. that's the worst thing about not being able to marry my partner - both our dads are upset that they don't get to dance with their little girls.
oh no. all the words i entered into lickety is on the other computer now
lol, helen
cl 7 - to end a debate and take a vote
thanks jac - i needed that one too
leslie beat me to it, aknitter
Fiz, then you should have a special party so they can!
thefiz--you can marry, in a civil ceremony...
aknitter, the top of the castle, make it past tense
scv -m serves you right for lissting first! LOL. Do it on paper next time.
we're trying to change the law instead....
good luck, fiz. :)
or, thefiz,you can work to repeal DOMA so that partnerships can be granted the benefits of marriage without being one...
pam only if we come visit you! not on this side of the border, sadly....
tu 8: little tower on castle roof, past tense
The law is changed here in ma., but what is marriage, really...
just stay out of virginia. for lovers, my ass
fiz!!! finally talked to the shelter woman
I am behind you 1000%, Fiz -- the gov't interferes with our lives enough as it is -- they have no place dictating whom we can or cannot publicly declare out allegiance to
No, I mean have a cerempny with or without anofficiant, and become united
aand???
thanks inge
I'm with you, Pam. But i feel that way about a lot of things: particularly religion and marriage.
besides...the whole judaeo-christian conceit of marriage leaves a lot to be desired...
NUT!!! looked at the pictures - he looks so happy! and thanks for the heads up, lbroad. *crosses yet another state off the map*
know what you mean, yo baby
inge, stid sends her apologies, but will not have story time until at least 10 p.m. babble time
hi yo baby - haven't seen you in a spell
Just remeber a son is a son until he takes a wife... a daughters a daughter all her life.
been enjoying BabAnon Other Subjects and HIGHLY recommend a visit there for the many treats available! Trying to catch up too with stid's great story before another episode begins... looks as if Ive missed some good conversation here, dammit - but it was worth it, I hope!
i don't think i'll be getting my hands on the guy, and he already has several people looking at him anyway.
well....i'll keep that in mind, blaze....
Sup, Ping? Raising those babies - been busy.
Thanks LeslieAnn, but that's too late for me. I will fall asleep instead of listening. I will read up tomorrow.
yay nutty buddy!!!!
Marriage? Do I want to go into that again? So much pain, so much red tape... Ilove P, I want to be with him for the rest of my life.. but the 'm' word? Yes, I do want it, all of it.. but not the legal stuff if it all goes wrong.
I just wanted you to know that I have entered the snapdragon part of my life. Part of me has snapped…. And the rest of me is draggin’!
*checks butt for potato-related growth*
re marriage - it seems to be okay when elderly people get married, right? But orthodoxy says "marriage was ordained for the procreation of children". Go figure.
lol, jilli!
hows the wolf man?
lol blaze! i gotta tell my grandma that - she always says, "where i'm going, i'm in no hurry" and snapdragon is much nicer.
Manda.....how about what you did to fruit in the blender?
Wolfie - did you get much positive feedback from wearing that badge? (That's what we call a 'button' here in UK. A button, to us, is something that keeps your clothes closed.
jac, i luv u
manda - potatoes are also known as spu4
ty all!
I used to wear: If time and space are curved, where did all the straight people come from.
And, a ton of pplitical sayings....
not really, Jac -- I was too mild mannered to try to press it for any advantage -- though among my friends backrubs were exchanged as currency
kalea, Kristianna definitely thinks so -- she loves getting him to follow her into her room, then she gets upset if he tries to leave
Lyrics for the song I am listening to - In the hour when the sun shines shines bright On my head in the city where I am alone, I never think of that once told story When two flowers almost were one. But what to do? I still think in the morning of you. When darkness hovers and city lights take over I am blinded to the words "I am alone". It's useless to cry for a star in the sky, For the city lights tell me there's none. But what to do? I still cry in the morning for you. When my head touches my pillow I am too weary To dare dream that I am alone. Now I lay myself down to sleep, I pray the Lord his soul to keep is my song. But what to do? I still dream in the morning for you. What to do? I still cry in the morning for you
Yayyyy for shorty!!
LA said a word! LA said a word!
I really should not have named my daughter after her though! From the sweetest baby you coould imaginem she skipped the teenage years to anorexic who had to be sectioned to save her life... came out as an I know what I want rebel! She'ds thrown aside the one chap she should have kept. after 2/3 years. I just kinda sit aside and wait and hope that she will see sense one day. In the meantime, she seeks out fellow barmy folks - all the sorts she got used to when we haad to send her into hospital yet she starve herself and die... self-harmers, over-eaters, oh, I fdon't know! You name it! Me and her Dad (and herself) saew it in there.
oh come on it was a NAME!
can't help it...
gw - snitch!! LOL
it still counts! :D
well, i didn't have the word yet, so that's ok ;)
Problem with my daughter is, she thinks eveyone she meets needs 'curing', - me included! Effing psychobabble stuff! Beating head against wall.
It's okay! i'M FINE! cARRY ON bABBLING.
mu 6 - not the killing?
weird word LA means to swindle
what you put down in your garden (ground up bark, etc) change last letter to a crossed one and plural
like stuff you lay down in the garden, only ends with a different consonant
jacula - anorexics often feel completely out of control - the only thing they perceive to have control over is what they put in & by the same token - buliemics, take out of their bodies. in this way they are able control those around them - but then you must know all this jacula, so sorry for you, anorexics tend to be a very mean & hurtful bunch - of course there are always exceptions
ends in 2 consenants that are the abv for connecticut
isn't that the mu5, or they end the same way?
can someone pleae tell me how to play?
helen - her weight is undr control now, but her behavbiour to the ones she loves the most is NOT.
oh, and also very angry, they tend to be extremely angry people
kallagin, try the "help" icon up above, or "angelsong's babble resource page" link below under "friends of babble"
add an s for the 6
thank you
LA, just plural that mu5 then
She's angry, Helen! But so was her father at her agre - both Arians!
oh for pete's sake, thanks guys
that was for you LA
jacula - you said she wanted to 'cure' you - what is it she want to 'cure' you of?
Now if you really want to go back in the text gaming archives, do you remember the game 'Hunt the Wumpus'?
Being happy at nearly 50 ( a dinosaur!) when she is NOT right now? Who effin' knows?
A very simple game -- not really an adventure so much as it was a logic puzzle
hi everyone. jeez i think i've got the slowest server tonight. i feel like i'm on a 256! any clue for the N?
CR4,6?
Are the restrooms down the hall and to the left?
they have a game section with stuff all modeled after old games. my favorite is peasant's quest, which is a rip-off of the early king's quest
whoops sorry
Fare well, Jac -- {*Hug*}
i agree gw - we must reward ourselves for being computer gaiming pioneers, why i had to walk barefoot in the snow just to find a computer
when you break up with someone you want cl*****, elalyr... change s to t
I took a course in how to program the punch card data...
thanks leslie, all done now :)
captive, for 6 and 7, lb
They set the casket on the kitchen table, washed their hands, and went in to the dining room, where folks were already beginning to eat.
LOL - ping - hey how old is your brother now??!?! single?!?!?!
hk aren't you married?
hello, 39 to go
Nan smiled at the family shyly, her head down, and waited for Paul to speak.
go harp go!
lb -- do you need the ur4? Little miss muffet ate her cu*** and whey
Hello harpjane! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle!
wow ping!
Hello Ping! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
He cleared his throat, but Gilly's scream interrupted the speech he had been composing.
"She can SEE!"
thanks so much, min! how are you doing?
Sounds to me as if you brother should have continued to run marathons, Ping! LOL
YAY Nan!!!
Startled, everyone turned toward Nan. She retreated behind Paul and buried her face in his back.
he agrees with you sometimes, stid, much easier
Paul held up his hands as the children started to get up.
"I think, everyone, that maybe Mother and I need to have a few minutes with Nan. If you'll excuse us?" He held out his hand to Gilly and the three of them went to the kitchen.
And the saddest thing under the sun above is to say goodbye to the ones you love... Goodnight Babblers. (See the rest of the lyrics.)
haha last one was st 6/24! very appropriate. fireworks!
hey gang
Gilly was on her knees in front of her child, tears streaming down her face.
Good night Jacula, sweet dreams!
Hello chj! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle!
Nan was crying, patting her mother's arm. "Mother, I am sorry," she said piteously.
st6/24?
hi c, congrats l.a.
Paul just stood to one side, knowing that both needed to make peace with the sudden change.
cu6/27?
hey, chj
Gilly laughed through her tears and hugged Nan tight. "Oh my sweet child, you can see! you can see!"
in a drunken st****, jane (not you in particular, of course)
Finally, Paul stepped back out the door and motioned for Adam and Ava to come in.
cu6 is past tense of the cu4 before it
thanks la
sorry - got caught up in bb
i'll bbl :)
ok thx
cu 6/27 is past tense of cu 4/6, manda - the last two letters are the same
They looked much older, and came in to the kitchen leaning on each other's arms.
cu6/27-his cold was cu*** after taking medicine, add an extra consonant MandaRaine.
no problem, i think i will take off. maybe see y'all at the flip!
Gilly drew Nan over to Ava, and the three cried and hugged and exclaimed...
Goodbye LeslieAnn! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Im totally just guessing now, 22 more words! Gah!
first er 5/10 please
hi woulf, i am now the foxx
while Paul and Adam stood to one side. Paul was beaming now, and Adam's heart swelled with joy to see his wife, daughter and granddaughter so happy.
Good night LeslieAnn!
cool to hear, chj! G'nite LA
er5/10 is to make a mistake.That's the only one I got
Eventually the tears subsided. Ava and Adam went back to the dining room, and sent Andy in.
and now I have been drafted to give Seb his g'nite bottle
Gilly sat in a chair, holding Nan on her lap protectively.
a wrothy cause, GW!
see you soon Woulf...
Goodbye GreyWoulf!I will see you tomorrow in the log
Andy stood in front of Nan, his hands on his hips and his legs set solidly apart. He watched her looking at him, then smiled.
thank you
Hello Blaze! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Nan smiled back, a bright, happy, full-of-possibility smile, and jumped out of her mother's hold to give him a hug.
They started to chatter, and soon the kitchen was full of kids and adults, asking questions and listening to the strange tale of the Great Bird.
chj - I've been waiting for you -- stick around for stid'sstory and I'll tell you why
Ava brought the luncheon in from the dining room and redistributed it while Anna poured out tea.
8-D
For the first time in her life, Nan reached to the center of the table for a second slice of bread.
For the first time in her life, Nan asked someone to close the blinds on the window to keep the sun out of her eyes.
hoho, rennie
For the first time in her life, Nan helped clear the table.
hey jilli
hi renfield!
hi stim... t'm being extra quiet
Hello renfield!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
And then Gilly sent the children out to play in the park, and for the first time in her life, Nan led the way.
hey ya min
Cathy kept looking from Paul to Nan, to Adam to Gilly.
Once the children were gone and the house was quiet, They took their tea to the front room and sat to discuss all the strange events.
hello my babbler friends -- ooh, stid telling story, i'll have to read in archieves - i'll sit and be quiet
hi debb - creep in!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet chj
Gilly was a bit pale -- and Paul held her hand tight. Anna sat in the corner, nursing Sarah and listening to the conversation while John watched out the window to keep an eye on the children.
just testing for tomorrow...don't mind me
Hi debbinla! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
hi debb! I never did hear how your dinner date went the other night... and just started the story a little bit ago.
Pychotherapy - Melanie Safka sang that song just o=for me once! And she wasn't wrong. Howeve, unless you WERE at the live concerts, have the albums on vinyl, ot=r know how to access both via internet, don't even try to understand. My mother called her 'A Dirger'. Not a bit of it! I've read her old love letters I know myself, and I've seen my daughter. Visions odf sugarplums... spent my whole life making the time right, still have a bowl of leftover wine... take up time. can't stand the taste of leftover wine.
hi firefly!
oh, that is a sweet child, firefly!
Lovely Zoe, firefly!
Hi firefly779!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
mets steamrolling the rockies 10-3
HELP last two words the first tu 4 & 5 please
i think trachsel needs the runs...hes been very shaky
thanks ladies! refresh for a different one, might like it better...
yankees rainout
Oh dear! My last post sounded pissed. Truly, it was just tired and listening to Melanie, who I am now thinking I should never have named my daughter after. But, there again... she 10 yrs' older than me now. Is she still an old hippy? If so, okay!
de5/12?
Was supposed to goto a Yankee game tonight, but it was rained out.They make it up tomorrow, but can't go to the game then because I am leaving to go to Vt
Slowly, Paul explained that the bird person was from a land near his birthplace.
thanks i got the little poo's....
They had met while Paul was looking for herbs and plants to bring home.
(ah your better off min !! enjoy vermont)
This was about three years ago... in the Spring when the air was clear and the waters ran vigorously down the cliffs and mountains.
oh Min -- are you going to be gone long?
tu46 - the same as going to the bathroom for #2 and tu 4/8-if you are possisive about your land you don't want anybody on your tu** Blaze. I hop this helps out
poor min..i'll go in your place
hi rennie
rennieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Paul had spied what appeared to be an old carcass lying on the ground. He approached, keeping an eye out for scavengers.
hey debs!
Oh well, never mind... I guess Mealnie Safka's lyrics never moved the earth on its axis for anyone but me??
Melanie Safka!
To his surprise, the pile of feathers stirred and a groan filled the air.
I will be in Vt through Sunday,so I'll be going through Babble withdrawal, unless I can sneak it in a little bit
we can all crash at mins place and go to the yankee game while shes in vt
A pair of eyes looked out at him from behind jet-black hair, and a beak-like nose sniffed suspiciously.
Oh -- I will miss you too, Min -- who will be our cheerful greeter?
sounds like a plan chj
I'm only 10 min away from the stadium so no problem!
Paul placed a hand gently on what appeared to be the shoulder, and the creature winced.
its more than a plan its a done deal...ill get the tix....you bring the cheetos
But will be taking my laptop so no babble accessibility
wow min!!!! do you want to adopt me?
a short trip down the major deegan
"Be careful!" came a strong voice, "My wing is dislocated merely -- I do not want it broken!"
Better yet,I will leave my 4 tickets here for you guys
(((hugs))) min!!!
can i join the party - although, i'll wait for you at the house while i watch the met game
You lot can kind of thank Melanie Safka for my recycling, but not me being a veggie. Tried that, didn't suit me! Too much time spent around farm animals to mind eating them. But Melanie S never wanted to eat anything that had a face. My daughter takes after her.. but she is ruling fish out of that one now, thank God! Any parent who has had to commit a child to an insane sanatorium for a number of years may well know what I mean.
i'm comin for cheetos and the fine company
Paul stayed where he was. He looked at the strange figure before him and thought of what to do.
do i have to wear a yankee cap?
I'm only 10 minutes away without any Yankee traffic!
NOOOOO chj
some on deb! - i have mini tv!
a yankee cap in hebrew?
i have extra yankee caps 2
i have a met one in yiddish!
(i guess same as hebrew)
Finally, he spoke with all the authority he could manage. "If your wing is dislocated, we need to put it back. I can do it -- or I can help you get where it can be done. Which do you prefer?"
My husband has 10 of them here for anyone who has none.
min! i want to come live at your house!!!
The strange face looked at him, assessing this person who was not afraid to help.
ill bring my mitt
the only foul ball i ever caught was in yankee stadium
Welll. I'll just stay with Melanie Safka shall I? She'snot let me down throughout my life.
"Help me sit up," it commanded.
wtg chj!
off the bat of bob watson in the 1980's...upper deck behind home plate
gil hodges once handed one to me when i was a kid (that ages me eh?)
didnt have a glove either...it was like picking an apple off a tree
Paul was astonished at how light the creature was -- and almost lifted it off the ground entirely. Gently, he helped it get seated on a log.
the following year a similar ball came my way...but it had so much spin, it twisted right out of my hands
Oh well, I seem to have become invisible. Not giving clue, so not useful, I guess.
"Take my hand, and pull it out straight --- but gently -- and slowly."
not invisible jacula, i hear you
renfiled how we doing on the grid?
Paul did as he was told, then stood still, waiting.
fini sire
yay ren!!
jambalaya
crawfish pie
(not kosher)
With a jerk and a loud cry, the creature snapped the joint back into place. It sat there, shivering with the effort and the pain.
etoufee
Going, tired of being unimportant.
grouper gumbo
dirty rice
jac - you're not unimportant to me
Sorry jac, I said I was listening... goodnight.
scene, 1940, fresh arrival in NY from England. Uncle took niece and his own 2 kids to ball game in Yankee Stadium (bleachers). On explanation to Brit kid as to destination "Yankee Stadium", Brit says, amazed - "You mean they really call them Yankees?" (insult in 1940s Britain). But Britkid had played Rounders and more or less uderstood the game -- was taought by cousing how to score and became a fan.
Paul reached into his satchel and pulled out a canteen. He offered it to the figure, and it gratefully accepted.
get out mamabear's supersoaker crawfish pie gun
*taught by cousin
Good night Jacula, hope you feel better in the morning.
yay, I'm done!
hola mina-san!
yes jilli!!!!! good story! wonderful story!!!
is michael tucker still on the mets?
Keep the faith, jac - xoxoxo
so far he is .... but cliff is coming back
nite mistress!!
He also pulled out a bundle of herbs and selected one carefully.
cute story jilli (if it was just about another team......)
"Do you use plants to help heal?" he asked, "This one is used by my people to lessen pain and help sinews reknit."
The creature pushed its hair away from its face and set its lipless mouth in an approximation of a smile.
my first hours in england coming off the ferry from ostend to dover were spent watching a cricket match and being explained the rules by an elderly gentleman from brighton
ah, but debb - the Mets weren't there then - just the Dodgers - and that's another NL story
my last one, cu5/16? not healed, the other one>?
true jilli :-)
"Yes," it replied, reaching for the bundle with its good arm, "and combined with this plant it will allow feathers to resprout quicker."
cu5 cu*** and whey
oo chj - I was introduced to cricket in Shanghai by my father -- enjoyed teatime the most!
chj I have that one too, I guess I need the third one!
Paul nodded and reached for another bundle, pulling a serrated, yellow-leaved red flower out. "Do you know what this one is? I found it yesterday. It is similar to something from my home, but I do not know it well enough to use it."
cu5 cu + ***veryork
st 6 24?
Oh dear friends, just had to sign in again o write this - just read the lyrics of The NNickel Song.
cu5 - a herb, good with beans (or so I've heard)
cu 5 - the cutting one? 4/6 + cross letter?
The figure nodded, but was silent. Then it stood as if it had made up its mind.
I'm sooooo ashamed, it was the spice!
day.
Anyway, never mind about the rantings of some mad 60s Child. Carry on Babbling!
Make that, something I use every day!
lol
help please with st 6-24
"Come. Follow if you can." And it hopped onto the log, then transformed into a beautiful, raptor-like bird.
cool, stid
Paul was hard pressed to keep the figure in view, but it rested often and called out when Paul wasn't moving in the right direction.
Deeper and deeper into the forest they went, higher and higher up the mountains.
hey debb...piazza had a 3 run homer tonight
st 6/24 - don't be st**id + either **
Oh well,nerer mind.The messageis obviously lost...
yay! i love him doing well!
Chj could you clue me for st 6-24 please?
Godnight alll.
chill, jac dear
off now, so never mind.
Here, Paul had spent several months, talking with the strange, solitary creature, sharing his knowledge of plants and healing, and learning many things.
I'd stay but I suck at cluing...I really do....see you all at the flip
bye kahlua
you're very welcome, Kalhlua - have one on me 9I wish - actually I have some and I think I will!)
lu4,6 and lu5,12?
One day, Paul had been talking about his family and had mentioned that his youngest was blind.
well, you can see my condition, ugh!
To a creature of the air, this was an unspeakable tragedy.
nut got me again!!!
how so
And so, one day not long before Paul left, it had presented him with the beautiful crystal vial and explained its uses.
lu4 - 'come wiz me to de casbah, baby' and lu5, she did
her story is a fib fib fib
Paul had not realized at the time that he had acquired a guardian as well as a teacher and friend. It had never occured to him that they might meet up again so far from the lonely aerie...
the other lus, jilli
ice clues :)
oh dang
nice clues, even
lu 5/12, the guy who dunnit. lu46 rhymes with rude
Cathy listened to all this, entranced. Her many hours spent with Esmeralda; sitting with villagers who were ill; preparing simple remedies -- and dreaming of the stories Esmeralda had told them of fabled healers, legendary places and times...
which part was a fiz....er i mean fib
all of it chj! she has a vivid imagination!
Gilly just shook her head and listened.
im picturing carbonated dr pepper exploding from nut's nose
Adam and Ava were still in their chairs, leaning forward as if to catch every drop from Paul's tale.
it did - everywhere ! after a 24 case though not just 1
ty jilli, got 46 but still trying to firgue 512
Then Paul popped into the kitchen to retrieve the casket.
when will we hear the truth about this episode
change the last letter of the lu5/14
Reverently, he placed it on the table between Gilly and her parents. He repeated the bird-creature's words, that Nan should be trained to use the items inside.
ill bet the true story starts with a "z"
from me of course! i always tell the stories the way they actullay happened!
OH tyvm
Cathy smiled and clapped her hands together.
i'm still in my chair too stid listening to your tale
"We must invite Esmeralda to come to dinner tomorrow. She will be so pleased..."
Gilly nodded, "Yes, perhaps she, you and Paul could work together to help Nan learn."
rennie, is something warming your seat?
that's not me running around the room....that someone else
stid, I'm all ears
"But," she added with a glance at her mother, "It must not interfere with her other schooling. Nan has some catching up to do."
John turned from the window, "Mother, I think you will find that Nan is further along than you knew."
And Nan came bursting through the door, with a tall plant in her hands and an exuberant, questioning look on her face.
Her education was about to begin.
**well, it was a little chopped-up feeling tonight, I am afraid. Hope it was worth the wait!**
always worth the wait, stid, thanks so much
