phantom - dinghy

I don't think they sold Th**** in Canada - LOL
just worked out your icon jill!
oooh SJ said a word
They haven't sold them *anywhere* since, I believe, the early Seventies
i'm pretty sure they didn't sell it in chicago either, lol
MVA - do you remember Flanders and Swann?
The Volkswagen Thing was based on the "Typ 82 Kübelwagen," Germany's equivalent to the Jeep during World War II. In 1969, a slightly modified form dubbed the "Kubelwagen Model 181" was manufactured in and sold to Americans as the Thing.
yes, old time variety shows?
Though exceedingly rare, there are still thousands of Things out there. Before 1969, the cars were built in Germany, and then production was moved to Mexico from 1973 until 1980. Production estimates range from 70,000 to 140,000 Things built. Owners tend to be a fiercely proud breed, and naturally they have their own web ring.

Shalom Everyone 33 g's? gee whiz
Well, thanks for the VW history lesson, SJ!

sam, is your icon the th5/16?
so soory to hear that sprite
Yes, fran, it is. You're one of the few to recognize it
just saw that, sprite - bad news indeed, but keep hopes up! Wonderful things are being done these days.
good icon fran -- now can someone please put up an icon, any icon for one of the 84 words i cant find?
lol hk!
do you have mine yet HK?
Yes, it is really sad. But we hope that the chemo will kill the cancer. The damage to the bones cannot be undone, but at least she will live then.
helen, I've got 84, let's just cpmbine our counts! :P
yes meta, but tx
LOL orn!! now there's a plan!
nice th5 also ornith!
meta, I have no idea what yours is supposed to represent

it's a palace... the seat of government of the rulers of venice... their title was that of do4/7
hehe, thanks fran
oh, the PICTURE on the purse! D'oh, yes, I have that one
Do you have mine hk?
and the plural too
frances - at first I thought yours was a leftover from the porcelain figurines but now I think it's the sn4 & 5 -- ???
lol frances - yes, indeed i do - i was lamenting that i jumped the gun - got mine too soon, should've waited until i found the fun words
the plural? the only plural I know for that word is Latinate and isn't allowed
sorry SJ, I was unclear... I meant I had the plural for Frances' icon
thanks frances!
You got it jilli
Oh, I see. LOL It is odd to me that they allow do4/7 but don't allow the proper pluralization of it
hehe
hello friends
I sometimes wonder what chemicals they ingest and in what quantities before making the decision as to what to allow or disallow
lol frances - i counted more than 4 legs so i thought you had th or4/8 - lol - it's late, eyes blurry

mornin' Shminky
lol shminky
thanks fmitch! didn't know there was a bird with that name.
I haven't added a word in ten minutes. I should get to sleep
Great Fran, love it when the icon works : )
I have my four year old granddaughter helping me to enter the words
I didn't know that was a bird either mitch, though I had the word
"fing" ought to be a word, why else do we have fingers?
Me neither Ornith but as I havent found a lot of words yet I was hard pressed to find something to clue.
my husband just looked at the chat and thought i was "Frances" talking about my granddaughter.
shminky - missed your arrival - hi!
oh, this little babe of mine never slumbers! any veteran parents out there with ideas to lull an 8-month-old to sleep?
No Fran - she's mine - all mine LOL
shminky, i have two little ones, but they were both great sleepers, i wouldn't know what to tell you.
My parents used to drive me around in the car to make me fall asleep. Also play one of those recordings of waves
i've heard that shushhhhing noises, like waves can help
or just you making the sound
I used to put my oldest one in the car and take her for a ride ShminkyLuvMonkey, She would be out within a few minutes
ok got my icon for anyone who hasn't found the words yet
I always found that stroking very very gently across the forehead and around the eyes had this little one asleep in minutes.
saphyre, thanks for your clue, you can extend that word for the female version of the yo4 also
and plurals
got it :)
thanks, muse - gottem, I think
thanks muse! didn't have the adjective
tyty FrnaMag
ok, halfway there. I think that's enough for the night

yw ml!
see you all tomorrow
thanks for the suggestions, all. time to attend to my precious little bundle. short night - no words yet. oh, well. g'nite all. babble well!
'night Ornith
vintage parent here. Put the baby in bed walk away close the door and let baby cry for ten minutes. If still crying go back in give baby a cuddle and place back in bed. keep doing this and baby will get the message. A good idea too is to give baby a special bed time only toy. When baby sees the toy it is bedtime. Make sure you always put baby to bed. Do not sit the baby on your lap to sleep. The sooner the baby knows to sleep in his/her own bed the better.
ML, i remembered it from a previous grid.
night SLM
night shminky!
'night Shminky
night ornith and shminky!
spangle - that doesn't work with all babies...My oldest would scream for hours if you let her.
be back in a bit guys, have to reassemble baby's car seat. she threw up in it the other day and i had to take it apart to clean it.
spangles - is your icon a clue? looks like a bell but isn't?
it looks like a ship's bell to me
The secret is not to let the crying get to you. It is the parent who cant stand the crying. I know what you are saying, but believe me, be patient it does work for all babies. You just have to be strong.
have to disagree spangles - I agree it works with some but not with all
Jillibus my icon is definetely a clue di4,7 and do4,7
Saphyre we will just have to agree to disagree.
spangles icon could be the 2 d words for sounds that bell makes and both words can be plural too
correct fmitch
ok - similar to flosey's which only appeared briefly a while ago - yours is very handsome!
good going spangles 4 words for one icon clue
ja clue anyone?
sorry, that's one among many I don't yet have
phantom - fishery
ja? do you mean ji?
have ji thought the others were ja
there are no ja words
all three ji
sryy yes all three ji
any clues on these ji words>

the doggy name is in the grid again
and the hairy nose dolphin
thanks taz! how did i miss that?
Argh missed that one again - thanks taz
lol
hairy nose dolphin? wow.
pinkish freshwater from so america
in4/4 elphaba
i think i'm too tired for this ... or else just vocabularily challenged tonight!
elphaba, it's a word only a babbler would love, not in a normal vocabulary by any means!
yay, i found in7/40!
hairy snout. there we go. took me long enough! :)
anyone have any 8 letter word clues?
of course everyone else has it by now, i'm sure.
sorry taz, still hoping to find the 7s
no, forgot to combine those 2
so ty Fran
thats about the only 7 i have found
yw muse!
taz, the only other one i have is plural of a female version of yo4/8
hi everyone. re8.45 plasticky ro8.45 = r05.10 w. suffix (I dont have either though!)
oooh, very very late, time for me to go, night everyone
hi lynxxx!
hi lynxxx
night muse!!
in7.40 means to have special undrstanding or appreciation
well now what is the female version of yo
nite mymuse
ro5/10 I use it to dry my hands for bowling
lynxxx, i found both of them, thanks!
taz, if you have the yo4/8 (practitioner or an eastern form of meditation and exercise) add opp of out and another vowel, then plural for the 7
tytyty
*practitioner of*
ty never knew that word
Fran you can also drop that last vowel for 2 more words
i only know it from a previous grid
thx guys!
thanks muse!
ta muse x
should have known to try that!
over half way - bedtime! Night all...
re8 = plant sap perhaps + ending for possessing or full of
night jilli!
change to ro for the other 8 and with that I say good night :)
night muse!
night Fran .........poof
didnt get the re 8 grrrrrrr
got it
taz - there is a no4.5 that the re & ro 8.45 end in
ty lynxxx
thanks lynxxx!
here's an unusual one ro6/24, take the ro5/10 and add a consonant (action ending)
ty fran
yw taz!
That is a strange one Fran and it's related to the ror/r
*ro4/4
that's why i thought it was strange fmitch, didn't know you could put that ending on ro4/4.
unfortunately it can't be made pl.
Hi everyone
hi sister

hi jean
Well i gotta go everyone hav good babblin time

Bye Rosset - stay longer next time!
bye sister rosset
does anyone have the ro8,45?
so stuck here just gazing at grid
mkl - same as the re8
mkl - builds on ro5.10
Thanks
Hey lynxxx!
Hi - seeing a lot more of you recently as I am on holidays at the moment - at home but it is still great
I thought you seemed to be around more. Nothing wrong with hols at home enjoying and relaxing I hope!!
practicing retirement - I wish!
: )
hi all, i keep seeing "greenery"
that was the second word i tried!
and dungaree
haha!
but half of that is a word!
there are 2 words in there (look at my icon)
Good morning all - not icon themed properly yet, but this is Spangle after her visit to the groomers. I just wish I could let you have the lovely smell as well!
i know the one, haz :)
good morning Haz:)
Oh look at her Haz!! what a picture! Morning : )
hello Haz
she's lovely Haz
I suppose she could be used as a singular version of do4/7! How is the grid today?
So far so good with some lovely words but am only just 1/2 way
It looks promising anyway. I'll get stuck in.
off for now bbl have a good day everybody:)
Morning again, back for the rest
Bye jean and hello sprite
You almost done, FMitch?
Bye jean, have a good day. Good morning sprite.
lol no sprite just over 1/2 way and hit the wall, very tired today.
Hey Haz *hug*
And to you!
Just found a funny couple of words by mistyping the Italian gentleman :)
3 even!
When I try mistyping, I just get red messages....
way to go sprite... and I can't even find the gentleman
lol@self
Someone had a great icon earlier Rodin's the kiss for the sn4/6 but I see so far no-one has gone for an icon clue for the or4 or yor thank goodness
Nor du4/8. The smell!
I think the gentleman isn't valid today. Start with what is on the th6/27 along the road that tell you how hard you can drive or where to go.
Haz - there are deities in the grid?
An O4 of Y5/18 would be interesting though ;)
probably tantric as well
lol metal
Oh THAT deity!
And they say Gi7/44 is good for giving you more En6/30.
It got Linford Christie into a whole heap of trouble!
Thanks didn't have the gi7
Some great words today
The ro and re 8s are good ones
True! And I love the i7/40.
... and today's fish is brought to you by the letter G (for a 7 & 8)
Can anyone clue me on the si7,36 si8,50 and the si8,60?
Ah, are those fish? I associated them with things to hit with or something.
Well in babble land sprite they would be used to hit with lol
mkl: Start with what is on the th6/27 along the road that tell you how hard you can drive or where to go. Then put an ending behind it from the word for older people (s... citizens).
LOL! That must be it... I will probably need them for just that!
Any hints on the last do 5/16?
Can't think what the th6,27 would be. Are the signs in America? Cause they might be something I've never heard of. OR I might just be dense
Don't know about last or not, ARB, but I have a Do5 that rhymes with yesterday's word for having an ample bosom.
helo ARB - plural the word before
LOL you just said the word I mean, nkl. The s4, yes.
the last do5, put a sometimes vowel on the end of the do4/5
I'm confused about th6/27 as well.
Hey mrP, did you get my email?
MRP! hi
Sprite, TY -- of course it was going in the opposite direction in which I had been thinking.
hi everyone!!
yes thanks sprite, I read it today!
th6: objects, undetermined
great mrP :)
I've got the th6/27 now.
hello, everyone
hi PT
hi Pappou.
hello papp
how's the grid today?
Still stuck on the th6,27
I think it is tricky
Lol mkl, it is a very common word. We use it whenever we want to describe something we don't know nothing about :)
the th5 and 6 rhymes with the leather strap you use to control a horse
Aha. I already had that one. I was trying to go with the first th6,27 and not working it out
morning all any clues for the 8,s
hi oggy
hi oggy
Any clues for the si8,60?
The first th6/27 begins with the definite article and ends with a mix up of the same letters as the more common th6/27
re 8 builds from the re5 sap from pine trees, ro 8 builds from the ro5 violinist use on their bows
both the si8 build from the si4/6 meaning indicate... comes to mean the italian for MR, alt spelling
Refresh for my new icon
what's the theme today?
Every Friday is clue a word from the grid Pappou.
oh, thanks, fmitch
ok, let's see if this worked
how's that?
su5/16!
Yup it worked .cluing the su5/16 I think?
that's the one
Nice one PT
Wish it was su5/16 today very overcast and dank.
whats the last 8 start with please, got 2xr,, 2xs
the kind of day you experience in Florida most of the time. It was so nice yesterday, high 86 with very low humidity. Fall is around the corner
I wonder if there would be a picture of Martha Longhurst who died in the sn4/7 of the Rovers Return? That would keep them guessing.....
there is a gu8/70
gu8/70 - plural fish.
Like that here yesterday. Today is a different story. At five this morning it was hosing it down
the ro8 is what exactly?? that is one weirdo word
My icon is gu7/52 and gu8/70
LOL Haz was toying with the sn as a theme earlier
Evening all - great grid.
hi angb
thanks got it
Hi Ang
Frances it was a lovely summers day eysterday but back to autumn today
That is one wierd fish ExWren
thanks for the clue, just found my first 8
FMitch Yesterday was wonderful and today because it is my birthday the clouds are crying.
Can't see anymore words, I guess the wall has arrived : (
Any hints on the gi 7/44?
Woohoo Happy Birthday Frances!!!!!!
gi 7 = Chinese herbal
ARB gi7/44 herbal drink
Thank you FMitch
gi7.44 - chinese root I think - makes a type of tea
Google images is a wonderful resource. sn4/7 - and refresh!
Happy Birthday Frances from one who shares your birthday

Congrats Bloodaxe!!!!
Congrats on going Pro, Bloodaxe

hi pida - and bloodaxe ! (good to see you have turned pro so to speak)
thanks all. I guess this means that I amoung the "official" addicts.
How long have you been playing Bloodaxe?
14 days....i guess. that's what it said when I tried to play this morning and I was blocked from seeing the stats unless I went pro.
Oh, I don't know. You can be addicted, and not be pro, But now we get to find out a little more about you, and you can put an icon up.
anyone have a clue for the go5/20?
i think paying to play just sort of makes the addiction official.
plus with a grid like this you need every bit of help you can get - and the stats are good.
go5 is a thief, swindler, rascal
they sure are. I like the grid. Otherwise the game would almost be impossible. It's hard enough since I can't get lickety's or any of the other "friends" pages.
une....I love your icon
thanks!
Unea have you had your plaster cast off yet?
yes yes yes--in fact it's been off for 3 weeks--last week was given permission to put down the crutches--wahoo! Next step will be to say goodbye to the boot!
today's phantom-describing my state of mind-cretinous
why can't you access the links bloodaxe?
Thats great news..you will be dancing soon!!LOL
i'm not too sure, but i think the university's server has blocked them. i've even tried different web browsers and I can't get them.
thanks uni
I have just decided I dont like g words!!
just the club!

Hi Rlee marso we will all whisperLOL
Marso, be ready to bring up a new screen if the Work Police enter

Good idea caitlyn----no shouting out clues. But how shall we keep the fireworks quiet?
<<<cheers caitlyn>>> keep it down now peeps,,,,already done scrabbler!!!!
When the fireworks are due everyone cough!!

hee!
Good plan, caitlyn
The problem is that this screen is soooo colorful etc that people can see it from accross a room! maybe Dr G can make it look like a spreadsheet - would work for me.
But you ARE gathering data Marso
I work from home - no help for me there
good idea,,,now everyone send dr g an email an ask him to change it lol
i remember a button on a game website (cant remember which site) that you could click if you were being approached by the work police and it would bring up a spreadsheet to make you look all diligent
Good morning, everybody. Whee, my whole name is in the grid. I have to work quickly, since I am giving a Tour of Detroit, mainly the Henry Ford Museum, at 11:30.

hi Inge
boss has left the building!!!!yippeeeeeee
when the cat's away, the mice will play
woo hoo - good for you marso!
yeah marso, safety for a little while
These poor tourists see very little, since the prgaizers never give us a total of three hours for the city and two for the museum. We do the best we can.
LOL Jacula
anyone need a clue before i go?
I hate to leave this chat, but I have to get ready for a tennis match. I will be back later on. Have fun. And marso, there is extra pleasure in getting fireworks while getting paid!

Martha, Ena & Minnie - who could forget them and their stout in the sn4 of The Rovers?
Beast - She was a character in Coronation Street.
ahh, ok then, i don't feel so bad
I didn't know her either Beast
Must go now. *CLICK!*
Martha Longhurst was an early member of the cast of Coronation Street. She died in the pub. I remembered that they didn't play any music over the closing credits.....
coronation street was on here when i was a kid, but i never really watched it
same here beast - I didn't recognize her either
How many words today please ??
although I doubt coronaton street was on here
208 chubby
i was just worried tat she was some important historical figure that i should know about
Thanks
No, of no importance in the grand scheme of things.
why can't I have indo? As in Indo-chinese?
Because it's an abbreviation for a capitalised word.
you just answered your own question ...
Oh yeah - stink *Goes into corner for a quick sulk*
well i better go now, will be back tomorrow to finish
bye beast
Bye beast
Bye beast.
hope you all have a good fun and don't get up to too much mischeif without me
no no - no trolls today. ;-)
The top left E begins 6 words. The E below it begins 2. Does this mean that the lower E words *must* begin with EO or ES? (ie. the words can't be started with the top left E)
they can go any direction, jimmack - as long as the tiles touch
it does, Jimmack
Yes, but I'm trying to find out if the reason that the lower E starts two words is because those words have to have O or S as a second letter, so the top left E couldn't start them. I'm not sure if I'm asking the question very clearly :-)
The word is counted from the first opportunity to use the first letter, so you are right to say that the second e has to begin eo or es.
that being said, the lower left hand e does contain 2 eo words
Thanks Inge2 :-)
(morning wolvie, and all)
okay. I stand corrected
Aha! Thank you all :-)
sort of. ;-)
Hi inge 2!
my name is in the grid today...
hi inge2
yes it is - too bad it doesn't count
hi becca, love the sunflower
The 2 words from that e are eo5/10 and eo6/18

I have an enormous one in my garden and it brightens my day to see it
hey everyone - Right lets get stuck in!
Hi CJ
hi CJ
slowing down now at 96 words
Me too Inge2!!
dunny doesnt exist! Australian toilet!
yes, we have had Hawaian, Scottish, French, Spanish words, but are missing the AUstralian English ;-)
Any clues for the eo words please?
eo + act of wrongdoing
eo plus evil act, becca then plural
good morning everyone
hi abe!
eo4 is the long period of time. eo5 - add a Biblical term for wrongdoing, then plural for eo6.
Hi Wolvie
good going haz - forgot that other eo was thinking of jimm' e. :-)
Thanks everyone - was looking at the wrong e for the 4 letter - no wonder the monkeys weren't working!

I want guppies
no, not guppies they reproduce too fast ;-)
LOL - got me - I still need the gu fish in the grid tho
chiley - the gu fish end like the du***** prisoners used to get thrown into in castles.
chiley - it sounds like the du****** where they kept prisoners in castles.
gu7/32 = gu + 2 consonants +3 letter word that means a very very long time. pl for the 8.

fi 5/18?
hi babblers...any one fancy cluing the gu7/52(i am hoping that will inspire the other gu's i am missing)
fi 5.18 plural of fi 4.8---seek and ye shall fi**
seano - it was clued as a fish - sort of rhymes with torture chamber
fi5/18 (2nd one) is the alt spelling of the norwegian coastline
not that one, annie - the last one. But thanks. :-)
thanks seano
thanks too, sean
seano - 2 clues from earlier It sounds like the du****** where they kept prisoners in castles. OR gu7/32 = gu + 2 consonants +3 letter word that means a very very long time. pl for the 8.
mornin babblers!
wolvie, when the grid is over 200 words I dont work with the list so that was the only one I had...the list gets to be too long and I usually dont finish the long grids....do the puzzle for the fun and addiction

but you can call me "BloodAxe!"
thanks, FMitch. :-)
Hi Bloodaxe
or blood, as I'm affectionately known here. Hi Wolvie.
it's a real hard word to clue and to look for too.
Hi abe.
hi blood
hi annie. Hey guys, guess what?
I'm PRO now!
what?
ahh - I already had that word, LOL - it shows as 7/52 - I was looking for a 7/32 that was different
blood, good for you!
very cool, Blood!
Need to go picture shopping, make it a complete package!
congrats to you, Blood
i'm working on it. I was just so excited to get working on the grid this morning that I decided to leave it for later.
blood, you are truly addicted, welcome!
Could I get a clue for the 2nd fi 5/18 please? Couldn't get it with the Norwegian coast one. And, is the fi 6/30 related? Thanks in advance.
so who's "elpenorasleep"? you seem to know me.
hey its becca
oh! Hi Becca!
youve stolen my soul
are you hooked as well?
bunny - the fi5/18 & 6 are normally spelled fj***.
not quite
bunny - the coast line is spelled with a j instead of an i - and the 6 is the plural
but i have nothing to do today
lol - snap jac
Yes, Wolvie.:)
me as well. do you have msn messenger?
i dont think ive quite gotten the hang of it yet
it's easy, and the people are great! they're always willing to help.
I've found another phantom to go with 'nudist'. It's 'dungarees'.
(There's a clue in there, if you look!):)
awww.....wheres lola these days? its just not the same babble when i cant SN4/6 her every morning. ;)
got it, jacula
evan - Lola's got a new job that keeps her busy.

OK, I have the gu 7 & 8 that rhyme with the blunt instrument, the other gu 6 & 7? (have the gu 5 & 4s)
Hi Melon. I'm sorry, i don't have that gu 6/ 7 yet. would you mind clueing the gu 5?
the other half is sack.
hi, Abe.
thanks Melon!
;)
hi melon
yo, wolvie.
do you need the gu 6/7 combo?
gu 6 & 7 - gu + Brandy Jack puts his list in Bab A***, change that "a" to another vowel, then plural
i'm baking, cooking & cleaning for Rosh HaShanah, stopping by ythe grid for a min here & there. My usuaul goal for Babble is to get half the words, and all the words 7 or greater. I have 127 words, all the 8s and 9 7s - 4 to go!
there you go - bunny beat me. :-)
very cool
way to go melon, getting the hard ones early
where does the name bunnyvicious come from! I still call my 15 year-old (boy) bunny,. but only at home.
thanks for the clues wolvie. are you having a lot of guests for the holiday, melon?
thanks bun
*thanks for clues bunny
My daughter and I used to have a game, she was Sweetie or Babyvivious, you never knew til she attacked. She had a stuffed bunny she called bunnyvicious, someone it became my nickname too!
Can't type.... someone = somehow...
morning persons!~
hi kl!
Morning Laurel.
hi klaurel
nice story, bunny -
my son was Mr. Bunnyworth
hi, wolvie who eats the bunny while abe watches with an axe
I loved it. She's to "big" to play it anymore, all of eight years old.
big animal theme for today!
in 5/14??
in 5/14 - in + *** date for a pregnant woman
bunny, she may be too big to play it anymore but will remain as fond memories all her life
happy last day of summer/first day of fall/friday!!
thanks, bunny
hi, all
I hope so, I don't realize how big they are all getting til I stop to think about it.
YW
thanks Rae, though I think it has been fall here for more than w eek already!
Hi Angelsong
lol..I know the feeling!
I turned the heat on a couple of days ago
we aren't allowed to turn the heat on!
I tell the fam to put on sweaters
We were at a hundred degrees plus til about last week. Then lots of rain, which we needed and it's nice and cool (87). Rain helped with the tree planting.
I have a 3 year old who likes to run around naked
and some days its not worth fighting with her
lol
how is your son doing today?
he is okay
doesn't really want to go to school since he is having trouble with this english thing they do
still recovering or is he feeling better about the whole thing?
STEM words, instead of learning how to spell traditional words, they are learning the greek and latin roots to words
really?? that's interesting
he'll be an excellent speller
he still hates the bus since the other bullies are loud. They leave him alone, but the bus is still noisy and annoying
he will if he doesn't fail English because of this!@
klaurel- the STEMS suck- is he in 6th grade?
beebee - He is in FOURTH grade, but he is Academically Talented
yes...it's true...but I'm sure he'll be able to do it...hes got a very smart mom after all :)
:) Thanks, rae!
the problem is that they have to memorize these things and they have to so EXACT
I am actually a middle school teacher but decided I didn't want to teach because of my illness
stems can be taxing but the best way is to make flash cards and do mnemonics.
*HUGS* I understand that
klaurel- good for him:)- but the stems are rough,we must have went through 3 packs of flash cards
Unless anyone needs a clue, I'm gonna get to mowing...
bunny- all the words please- ;)
yep, we made flashcards and we are hoping he does well. But he has NEVER gotten an F before and he got one on the first test, so, he is VERY nervous now
yes, please bunny. I echo beebee's sentiments
I could use the oh, bunny - and congrats by the way - didn't see the fireworks
cya bunny...for my class I had them make coloured flash cards on different coloured flash cards obviously for each word group
thanks bunny...i'm still figuring out what i need!
oh 5/16 - o + doors opens with their h***es
there are word groups?
ty, bunny. :-)
or oh... I get it. ;-0
well I taught in the different sections like anatomy group or object group
thanks, bunny
I just wonder if they are ready for these stems at this age
YW, ya'll ahve a great day! See ay Sunday.
by bunny!
this is the best time to learn them...their minds are so quick right now
I will havbe to take a look and see if they are and then that might help. We get these worksheets and they have the weekly word
my bridge buddy is now online, will go play a few hands, BBL
yes, but only the 25 AT kids are learning i! :(
bye flosey
but imagine in 3 years...he will be kicking ass and taking names in school
He is having anger and frustration issues at school, so I sent a stress ball with him
1 sec - friend on phone (her mom in hospital)
is he very social or more of a loner?
social with no social skills
have you considered getting him into music?
has anyone seen or heard from faeriekae?
fortunately, with scouts and soccer, he has a small group of good friends
at least I think they are good friends
((((((Angel))))))
oh ok...those are great activities
I was lurking getting ready to go to work
wow kl - hope things go well for him from here on out.
well, there you are, faerie!
hi faerie
hi faerie & angel
is your cell working, faerie?
Hi Wolvie, Abe, Raelite :)
did you know the american home often has more tvs than occupants?
brb - phone and 3 year old vying for space on my laptop with my laptop
Angel I just got a new #
hi faerie!!!
hi wolvie
e mail me, faerie, please?
Angel I'll give you a call as soon as I leave her to go to work which will be in less than 1/2 hr ok?

rae - we are even in my home. :-)
lol...we have 5 tvs and 3 people!!!
see? I know you well enough to make recommendations like that, faerie...
so - I need to catch up. :-)
lol...I don't think we need as many as we have...
Yes Angel even from 1000 miles away you do know me well enough to know that I had to get out of the situation I was in and I can't thank you enough :)
Oh, just did a mental count and we have 5 TVs and 4 people.:(
it isn't rocket science, faerie...just common sense.
I just heard the same news report Jacula LOL
if anyone here is looking for something to do + likes movies + visual riddles, check this out: http://www.darkjustgotfun.com/
we'll keep it at an even ratio- until i get a tv in the kitchen or have a baby, lol
will do, evan
ive got 48 of the 50, and those last 2 are driving me crazy!
It's the TV in the kitchen that tips us over the ratio.:)
evan- will have a look at that later. Thanks.
Angel I may have Lucas hanging on to my skirttail every minute and they make me get up and have breakfast everyone morining with the family but I LOve It. 8-)
i've been wanting a kitchen tv for years so i can cook along with my favorite shows!
evan - 48 of the 50??
abe - If I didn't have the portable in the kitchen I doubt I'd see any TV.
wolvie -- i have 48 of the 50 titles riddled in the site i just posted...
good ones for not much $$$ at cost co abe
on the tv thing.. according to a media ratings company the average home has 2.73 TV sets in it, and only 2.55 people heh
ahhh - whew - I thought I had really really missed something in this grid. ;-)
hi Ogga
and hi :)
I"m hoping we can hook one up in our new apt. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen too...
se 6/27 anyone?
Hi Ogga
Hi Ogga
better than what was going on at first, faerie
AMEN
Angel I'll talk to ya in a minute. Gotta get with it.
Well, the rain shows no si4/6 of stopping. I have to go out. Hope my new hairdo doesn't get ruined! (I'm out with old schoolfriends tomorrow ni5/16.)
Happy Babbling everyone BBL

i am stumped by the last 2 si7s. I have the si 4,4 & si4,5 that precede them - even my monkeys aren't helping!
Hi Une!
hey, abe!
ok, faerie
hi again, une
hi, une, bye jac
melon- one is an extension of the si 4/5 (the star wars word). just go up the right side
melon -those are the words I'm working on right now
the other one is si* (forgive us our si**, singular) + sy4/6
wait a sec - i got the star wars one! i'm losin' it fols - now the si7 32 that starts with "peccata"...
that si is my icon!! <<<<----
thanks abe and une - do either of you have the se 6??

not yet, sorry, wolvie
raelite - are you into cryptics - i have a love/hate thing about them.

no I can't think like that...I just thought it looked really cool
merci, all
I can't think in a straight line...that's why I like this so much
just 1 7 to go - need to find out which.
I am also missing the first si 7, then the 2 8's, which I'm sure use that 7...
34 here
heck, im missing ALL of the 8s...heh
the re 8 and the ro 8 are very similar, evan - sticky stuff and the property of being sticky
eva, re8 and ro8 are sticky with tree sap
wolvie, great minds! :-)

looooong conversation.
<sigh> be back later today! have fun all
cya kl!
bye kl

hi, i'm heading out to do less fun things - last call for clues to the 7s & 8s.....
i need um all please!
su7?
that's a tall one - pick4 or 5.
gu 7 - a fish, starts sort of good, ends like the caviar bearer.
ge 7 - think spiniing and a plasticky suffix, as in polysty----
melon --- I did not get the yo 7? Italian?
the so&'s?
gu 7/40 - a monkey - may require monkey typing! haha! "Guess none is hidden here." (a cryptic clue)
could be, kk
Just started today (hi all) - your clues don't yet make sense to me..
so 7 - Italian for mute & it's plural (change ending vowel) - sounds like something sharp at first.
kk, did you get the yo7 - it's plural of yo6, which could be italian for a Hanna Bar_Bear-a character.
matty, pardon my obscureness.
now, buy to all. A Sweet new Year to all who celebrate & a meaningful Ramadan.
i am new too and i cant get the clues lol
bye to all. this was not an exhortation to shop!
Happy New Year Melon...
Hi all just popping in while waiting for grandchildren to arrive Great clue for the gu6/27 melon
tx. oh, cryptic clues are clues that contain puns, or anagrams, or other kinds of wordplay.
tx cate, glad it worked for you! BYE!!!!!!
bye Melon
Bye
HI Caitlyn
Hi abe

Hi everyone.
Hi Bilttong
ty, melon. Still can't get your yo 7, though??
I can't figger out the yo7 either...
Are you babysitting for the week-end caitlyn, or just the evening?
I dream of G* alt spelling
what does that mean dodge
I think it might be all weekend as our daughter is working nights Biltong
yo6 & 7 + g* in a bottle alt spelling?
Ahh, I hope you enjoy. I'm still looking forward to having grand children to baby sit. LOL
ahhh
ty, dodge
yw!
With 5 of them all wanting to have their turn at staying t gets busy!!Especially if they all stay at the same time LOL!!!
Wow, I can just imagine! Sometimes I get to babysit my niece's 3 year old and whilst it is fun, it is also very tiring.
can someone help me with the lingo? what does yo7 mean?
Jen, it's a word whose first two letters are yo and is 7 letters long
thank you matty
BTW, who has icons that are clues? Anyone?
No worries, Jen.
I do
Me matty
Take a look at angelsongs babble page silent jen. lots of info there

Bye cait, enjoy!
bye Cait - thanks for clue
any help for eo5/10????
eo5/10 - something chemical, eo + a wicked action
Umm, did I say something wrong?...
Nope, Vicuna - not at all?
Just total silence fell as soon as I appeared, so naturally I assumed I ought to take it personally. ;)
Oooh. Shall we sing a song, get the party started again?
Hi Vic!!!! thanks for the clue!
Yes, please! What song? Hello, Bloodaxe!
How about....ummm....songs we sang as kids
i want to sing!
"Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a PEANUT one night"
Oh, they built the ship Titanic, to sail the ocean blue...
"Last night I found a peanut, found a peanut last night"
(That's funny, mattygroves. We always found our peanuts "right now.")
and they wre rotten?
Ha, Vicuna! Did you puke the peanut up the way we did, or were we just gross?
Yeah, but we ate them anyway, right now.
Oh, we definitely puked them... unless maybe we barfed them?
Yep - except we did last night. Then we died.
Yeah, we died, too... but right now.
"Went to heaven, went to heaven went to HEAVEN last night. Last night I went to heaven, went to heaven last night"
and you found a peanut?
"Didn't like it, didn't like it DIDN'T LIKE it last night, last night I didn't like it, didn't like it last night"
my, my, my..... the highbrows relate the tale of the upchuck!
You can probably guess where we went from there!
If we all went to heaven, we must not have had many si4/4.
"the other way"
Well, we got kicked out of heaven, and went - er, the other way.
WE didn't like that, either, so last night we were reincarnated.
At which point...
hello
"Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a PEANUT last night..."
you found a peanut?
Oh, how the hours on school busses just passed.
Yeah, especially for the driver. heh.
Hello, harpjane.
hey ya harp!
Did you ever..."caught a little baby bumble bee, won't my mommy be so proud of me, I caught a little baby bumble be.....oops, it stung me"
Shortly after which we washed the PEANUTS down with 99 bottles of beer....
Oh yeah, we did that, too. You obviously love your regurgitation-themed ditties!
Yep, well. The joys of being 10. Mind you, I taught them to my (English raised) daughter with great glee.
Guess I'm just a 10 year old at heart.
So were these songs new to the British schoolchildren?
Seemed to be. My daughter especially loved:
"Miss Lucy had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell. Miss Lucy went to heaven and the steamboat went to...Hell-o operator...etc"
Ah, cultural exchange. What pearls of wisdom we can learn from others...
...Miss Lucy sat upon it, and broke her little ASSk me no more questions...
Oooh - I learned it like this "Behind the refrigerator, there is a piece of glass, if Miss Lucy sits upon it, it will go right up her ASSk me no more questions..."
so far, none of your icon clues are helping....
We used to bang a rubber ball in a nylon up against the wall when we sang about good old Miss Lucy..
We clapped hands.
That makes more sense, I suppose. I always thought it should cut her ask, but that's not the way it went...
You know, girls' handclapping rythm tings.
I also remember "In the land of Mars where the ladies smoke cigars..."
Are there in Brits around who want to contribute some risque childhood songs of their own?
I'll ask my daughter (jimjams on here) to contribute when she gets home from school (she's 15 now)
I know there was a place in France where the naked ladies dance... Come to think of it, that place undoubtedly still exists.
What did she do - "Double double this this, double double that that. Double this double that double double this that". Or something. It had a very strict clapping sequence.
Is this thing on? . .
No, torgone, we can't hear you.
and Torgone takes the floor.
Good ..
You're free to say whatever you want about Tony Blair.
Just checking ... I was having problems ...
My phantom - dough and doughy.
doughnuts
Do most people finish a grid of this size?
hi again all :)
Hiya Atal...how are you??
Hello, Atalante. GMO, I don't know the percentage. Many of us regular chatters finish them all.
hi Atalante. Forgot to ask yesterday how the picture was received?
hi all!
Hello, stidmama. Lovely icon.
Any many of us regulars finish the ones that are convenient, and just get as many as we can otherwise.
I finish when I have time.
Thanks Vi -- word from the grid day -- you should see brown on green...
Most weekends, and weekdays when the grid isn't too big.
I'm not at work today (bad cold) so should finish today
Generally if I know I won't have time, I don't even start, which is lame. But if I start it bugs me until I finish.
I just do as much as I can....while still enjoying it!
Yup, that's what I'm talking about stid!
Stid, is that a fish?
{{{matty}}} drink some nice warm tea with lemon in it...
I believe that would be a fish, yes, matty!
hi Stid! She hasn't got it yet ... its her birthday tomorrow :) I got a mount made up for it yesterday, so it looks a bit more professional now!
Hahaha! Nice pic stid!
awww matty :( lemon and honey for you!
Poor matty. Feel better soon.
Aww...thanks. Mind if I put some whiskey in it (it's nearly 5.00 here) - hot Toddy time soon...
mmm. I would use Rum myself (being a closet pirate) but... whiskey sounds like a reasonable substitute!
I only have one eight, which I think is the GU fish one - can anyone help with the others?
my PhD tutor told me that anything gets better with a mug of lemon, honey and whisky. And he's not far wrong ...
Atalante, is your icon an or4?
Back again at last. I thought I was NEVER going to get back to fhish. 60 to go.
Hard to believe it could look any more professional, but... :-)
hello Haz!
yes Vicuna! Its from "The Rake's Progress" by Hogarth. I thought I'd try and find the most inappropriate word to find a pic for LOL
I am up to 71 in about 25 minutes... but slowing down now.
Hello Stidmama - just going to check out your icon to see if I've got it...
any help for fi5/22
re8 and ro8 are the same except for one letter. (I think you can figure out which one!) They are both adj endings, one on dried pine sap, the other on the similar word
Ahh - more Brits. Right, Haz and Atlante - we were sharing school bus songs and clapping songs, and the question was asked what the British versions were - what did YOU guys sing to annoy teachers, bus drivers and other parents?
I've never annoyed anyone in my life....
I recognized it, Ata. Inappropriate word, but relatively tasteful depiction!
ha ha I went to a convent school! singing kiddy songs was totally out of bounds!
fi5/22 - is almost someone who can't keep still
fi5/22 - almost where you keep food cold, almost chocolate confection
but clapping songs - there was one about a guy in a Chinese takeaway. well what else!
Hmm... Maybe you could work up a catchy little clapping sequence for "Ave Maria"...
Vi, I got the r 8s! those were my first two. Thanks.
got it, thanks Vicuna and Haz!
Ooo, sing us the Chinese takeaway song!
Well done Sharidan.
I'm trying to remember it now!
phantom word -- dungeon
there is a similar word to that Lala7 -- starts with a G...
IT started "I went to a Chinese restaurant, to buy a loaf of bread ..., He wrapped it up in a five pound note, and this is what he said said said" and then kind of degenerated into any randomness you wanted to add
go 5??
Wow, thanks, Stid. Wasn't even asking for a clue. Bonus!
Which one, remluc?
:-) the go 5 I have is go + ending of the place in C.S. Lewis Story Nar***
either one. :)
ty stid
there's another - same as stid's but with a consonant at the end instead
thanks Ata!
(and pl)
ty atalante
For go5/14 take the first three letters of the disappeared go4/6 and end with the Nar ending. The other one starts the same but ends with a word of doubt - as in Rudyard Kipling's poem
Thanks Vic for those two 8s. 2 two go (2 eights, that is - I have 122 words left in total)
It can then be pluralised to become go6/33
I don't have the other two either, mattygroves.
go matty go!
The gu 7 pluralizes for another 8
so where's a pic of Spangle looking sleek and beautiful, Haz?? :)
I had it up earlier - I shall change, just for you!
I have that one, Stid - that's your fish, yes?
oh TY! I didn't see it!
Hurrah - the hairynosed dolphin is here!
so what is the 8 you have that I don't Atalante?
help required -- se 7 32 , please.
thanks for pointing that out, matty!
Refresh to see the fragrant canine.
I don't have that yet, Grim
Oh, I even tried to get that, but started from the wrong i. Thanks, mattyg.
pretty girl!!!!!!!! gosh, don't they look gorgeous when they've been trimmed and bathed!
She looks great, doesn't she? She had been casting at quite a rate, so I'm hoping this will reduce the amount of hair about the place.
thanks anyway , stid
Blast it, only my thumnails refresh, not the bigger version. Why is that?
(thumBnails)
Vi -- right-click on the profile, and "reload"
I only learned that last week. :-)
thank you for putting that back up! she looks gorgeous :) unlike mine who has cobwebs and pine needles all over her at the moment ...
I have a whiny dog at my feet. back later.
Ah, there it is! Thanks, stidmama! Beautiful, Haz.
Thank you - anyone who admires my dog is a friend of mine!
If I admire you, will Spangle be my friend, too?
Spangle is just about anybody's friend!
:)
Haz, you're such a cutie. I love your bio and your pup!
thats the only problem with spaniels. they really don't make good guarddogs .......
Thank you Jaime!
Aww - is it a small springer, Haz?
She's a Welsh springer - so slightly smaller than her English counterparts.
my mini schnauzer loves on everyone who comes through our door. Thieves are welcome guests if they pet his cute ears :)
same with my cocker, Jaime
Oh dear. The inmates require their lunch. I'll be back later to pet the dogs and find my remaining words.
Bye Vicuna - see you later!
Jamie, are you in the States or UK? Have your dog's ears been done?
last do 5, 12 pls
5, 16 i mean
I'm in the states, Illinois. And never! I got Hooch when he was 7, but thankfully his ears are still cute and floppy.
The last do5/16 puts the sometimes vowel on the end of do4/5 (puts on)
ty haz
You're welcome!
do you have a dog, matty?
Aww - that's brill, Jamie. I don't have dogs now - but we used to (when I was growing up) have Komondor.
Phantom: sundry. Haz, I didn't get your last clue... must not have the right do4,5 to add the sometime to!
omg! I LOVE those! don't they take a lot of looking after though?
You KNOW what a Komondor is?! Wow.
do4/5 - to put on, or shortened version of Mr Rumsfeld (or cartoon duck) name.
oh cool!
I just looked them up, they are so beautiful.
they remind me of an English sheepdog with lots more hair :)
I've only admired pictures ... I'd love to actually meet one
Hang on - I'll give you a link to a picture with my daughter...
ty Haz (nice pup!)
*also likes Komondors*
You're welcome Ankhorite.
Wow - people who have heard of them...and seen them, and likes them - I'm impressed!
how hard is it actually to care for their coats?
I met one in particular NOT at a dog show -- he was working in Wisconsin. Very fierce.
http://www.ciao.co.uk/Komondor__Review _5412244
whew. lot of almostses driving me crazy today
That's a whole review about the dogs, descriptions of my dogs, and pcitures.
The coats cord themselves - unless the dog is a working dog, you just separate out the cords to keep them from plate matting.
You can do that in front of the telly or whatever - so long as you don't pull from the root, it doesn't hurt.
rastadoggie
Of course, if you rescue a dog, or neglect the coat, it because nearly impossible to separate, and the dog may need cutting down.
And they are...a challenge to wash.
I can *imagine*! a wet walking carpet!
(Say HI to jimjams - she's come to play)
they are gorgeous though *goes into Komondor love zone*
Hurshy, the black Puli really do look like little Rasta dogs.
sup dudes
Hi JJ and others ..
(((tor)))
When my mum and dad had Ziggy, the world's greatest dog - he had no idea he was a guard dog, he thought he was a Lab or something - you would get stopped by complete strangers to admire him.
this is a great description, Matty. I'm enjoying it.
My dad was known as Mr Ziggy in the neighbourhood.
hi JJ!
I have only *one* of the 8's, the sticky one. Anybody clue me on any of the others?
Ziggy cured JJ of a fear of dogs.
{{{{{{{hurshy}}}}}}}
I can imagine. Different dog. Looks friendly. = investigation by many!
The Pulis can come in black, brown or white, are much smaller, and their tails curl much more than the Kom.
by sticky, do you mean re8? change the first vowel for another
and then pl of italian gentleman
i still need the other two myself.
It's quite funny though, when someone owns both a Kom and a white Puli. People do double take!
Ah, Hurshy, txs!
Italian Gentlemen?
anyone notice that one of the most terrifying super-genetically-altered people ever known to man is in today's grid??? :) :) :)
yes matty. it sounds like spanish but is spelt differently...
Huh?
paris hilton?
lol
:|
in fact, i did not think that was how it was spelt but maybe i am wrong
I am working on that italian gentleman that sounds like spanish, and not not not getting it.
shouldn't it be signore?
Yah, Atalante, I thought so too
(and oh, i was referring to khan noonien singh
si8/50 - begin with si4/6, as seen on roads, add the ending (pl) of sen*** or jun***
well yes, i didn't think it was spelt that way anyway. but it is a lot like italian gentlemen at any rate
Take away the plural ending for si7/36. The other si8/60 is formed by adding the sometimes vowel in place of the plural letter.
huh. weird spelling
Wow, I've not seen that spelling.
ooh thanks haz
This is babble, don't forget.
Weird word! No wonder I couldn't find it.
Hi everyone - enjoying all the doggie-chat! Love you icon TempleOwl!
hey, if you brits can pronounce beaulieu (the name of my sister-in-law's street) "byu-lee", anything is possible.
ty jfb hi all
evening all..thx forthe spanish italian lesson...can someone give me the first two letters of the sticky 8 pls?
bow-lee even hurshy ;)
re and ro , rolin. Think pine trees and violins.
haz..i have both those as 5's and 6'....but 8's?
well you COULD say bow-lee, but you don't. officially, the street is pronounced "byu-lee"
bow-loo in Illinois -- which is not eeley-noo-ah
I say bow-lee :P
Extend by finding the adjectival form - look north.
balloo
I'm having a slight problem with the clue for si 8.50 - I don't have the si 7
well, this is the funny part - they tell me that official pronunciation, but they admit that nobody knows to pronounce it that way
Or north-east to be exact...
Okay, have two sticky 8's and one funny gentlemen, but missing the other two.
JJ - how are you doing?
so there are 2 S8 and 2R8... what is the last 8...
si7 - begin with the si4/6. The ending is that put on either sen*** (if you're an elderly citizen)
GU
and its very very fishy
Fireworks!
GU! ick. gun something?
or jun*** if you're young.
Congrats Angel!
Crats, Angelsong!
NO!!!!! I didn't mean to type the y word, and torgone is here to chide me......
thx haz got them
Hooray angel!
I'm not getting the sen or jun clue for the si word.....
so everyone...hows life?
(as opposed to sophomore or freshman, cadfan)
:|
Cadfan, high school has sen***s and jun***s
If you forget things, you are said to be having a sen*** moment.
Got it at last - pass the fish!!
oh for heavens sakes... I hate idiot moments.....
How many words have you got, JJ?
forget fish... pass me a blue whale!
gunsmith... gunfight...gun, gun...?
who was the girl who ate a whale in a shel silverstein poem?
BTW, for anyone who doesn't know...(including JJ) today's theme is words from the grid, so check out people's icons.
JFB - would that be the gu7/52 or gu8/70? for the fish?
not gun ...
ok
guy?
fish fish fishfishfish!
i have 38 words dudette
if it isn't a compound i don't see how it can be so fishy
Either as long as its not frozen!!
nope
oh. ok well sure i do KNOW that word but it isn't THAT fishy
"a small, European, freshwater fish, Gobio gobio, of the minnow family, having a threadlike barbel at each corner of the mouth, used as bait."
its a fish though!
It is a fish. A proper fish with fi4/7.
it's not like one uses it ALL the TIME
Well done, JJ - you've only been playing a few minutes. I'm looking for the en6/30 at the moment. (TOP TIP, JJ, take Tor's clue, and plug it into google)
oh wait, then i didn't even know it. i was thinking of d______
*giggles a lot at Hurshy*
Light bulb moment?
ok..so if i have the 2 sticky one..the fishy one and the gentlemen...what and i missing..?
eeeelectricity!
well - sort of a light bulb moment - but more like two wrongs making a right
the one they are laughing at me about, rolin.
Thanks Ata, Haz and JJ (who shouted out to me)
though i don't see why. just cause atalante is a marine biologist doesn't mean *i* know all the fish species
BRB
You have them all rolin - providing you have the two Italian gentlemen ones. si8/50 and si8/60
uh oh...i only have one man..
seroid
Whoooops!
the 50.
Then you need to take off the plural and replace it with the sometimes vowel.
very strange word...ty haz...i can now go and start dinner..lol
See you later roling.
roling? rolin...
back to finish up 31 to go...
eo 5/10 and 6/18?
eo and original s** and plural cauze
anyone have the se 6 27??
Thanks wolvie
yw
THANKS wOLVIE
Sorry didn't mean to shout
glad to help, JFB - now how about that se 6, and the first si 7?? ;-)
Wahey . . Half way ..
first si 7- Italian gentlemen
good deal, torgone
Working on that se6/27 - will sing out if I find it.
Si 7 road si4.6 + sen*** moment
Havent got the se6 yet.
thanks JFB and abe
yw Wolvie
Don't forget to plural and then add the sometime vowel for 2 8s
got that with the clue, JFB - thanks. :-)
yw
in 7?
se6/27 - pretend that Mr Kissinger's name begins with s and add the last vowel to it.
you can see it, rem
wow haz
thanks haz! that was driving me nuts
The se6/27 looks Welsh and particularly strange!
You're welcome!
wow, thanks Haz. what a random word!
nvermind got it.
What the heck kind of a word is that????
What sort of word is that? Thanks Haz
I'll say - no monkey I have would have found that!
I'm going to google it to see if it can explain itself.
Japanese poetry ..
aha... thanks torgone
Welsh my foot, it's a Japanese three line poem.
rem - I did clue that for you - should have been clearer
Its very educational here isn't it?
so 7/32? either one - they are probably related, right?
sure is, JFB
yes wolvi. have "Italian sounding" endings
*Wolvie
thanks abe - got it. :-)
Well over half way and I'm being taken out for a meal tonight so time to go. Thanks for all the clues and happy babbling.
I tried variations of that, just wrong order.
bye JFB - have fun
Back, having installed Googletalk on JJ's computer
hi matty!
Hi Wolvie
Good morning, Everyone --was having a really tough time with this one before I quit at 100 -- lots of small words, but couldn't spot many of the biggies!
hi cybernan!
the su 7 is a continuaton of the 6, yes?
ni 4/4???
Good morning cybernan - it's a bit of a challenge at times!
The ni4/4 is a latin term, often attached to divorce decrees.
Hey, Wolvie, at the center of my icon there's a lot of su7 going on.
rem - it means : not yet final or absolute
oh man - I knew it was soapy stuff, just didn't see it - thanks vic
ty wolvie
yw :-)
morning all.. total for today?
208 words today.
$2.08
hi walnut
Just went through the front page clues and found the 7's and 8's -- thanks, everyone
ahhh finished off the s's - with much help
hi wolvie. thanks torgon!
Hi everyone, 208 is roughly 50 words too many! Just when my rankings are higher than they have ever been, I've had to miss one or two grids
jeez - what kind of word is that first th 5? wow.
never seen that before - good monkeys today. :-)
FI5/18 and its 6/30? I have found the present tense (boom boom), but need the last...?
alt spelling of norwegian coastline, matty
fi5/18 is found in Norway.
usually seen with a j
Got with today's theme (icon clue)
I think we think alike, nan. :-)
so we do, wolvie
Excuse me for a while -- going to lickety's list
matty...is that the norway fi's?
12 y words? Are you shavin me?
Ooh - let me try, Rolin!
That's them - thanks guys!
they are burnishing me as we post, tor
oooh tor...i didnt see that either...i think im gonna have to kill myself..*sigh*
I have all the y's thanks to a collaborative effort earlier on, so sing out if you would like clues.
Please don't talk like that, rolin .. I think we can manage it ..
rolin exclaimed a word!
GI7, anyone?
(Not that I'm trying to add to your discouragement or anything.)
*clasps hand to mouth*...sorry
gi7 is a preparation rumoured to give energy.
Ahh - THAT kind of en5 (you said a wooorrrd)
finished the y's, TG
oooh haz -
I'm sorry - that's twice in one day. Who can I blame?
It's all society's fault, Haz.
me. go ahead. I've had a good day so far. ;-)
** Have hot toddy, will babble **
i could totally use some yo words!
Society, that's it.
the yo 6 yo 7 yo 6 set would be great!
all the 6's and the 7 play off the meditation guru, Jamie
not out, but **
"Gee, Officer Krumke..."
that sounds like voldemort'
's snake...
Now I'm hearing West Side Story in my head. It's not unpleasant.
mediatation guru?
Resident in Jellystone Park.
think hey hey it's Y*** bear. :-)
Oh, hurshy, now I see you're talking about the y's and not about Officer Krumke.
Kinda like 'smarter than the average beear, bobo
k, got that part.
snap haz
yes
i'll give it a try
now make it sound like voldemort's snake then jaime :)
oh bother, that still leaves me with one y.
Though it would be kinda funny if Voldemort had named his snake "officer Krumke"...
just remember not out, but **, and plurals
Think Maharishi Yo**, Jaime.
send that off to Rowling, vic. :-)
Oh, thanks for the icon clue, Jacula.
got it!!!
thanks :)
yes but then voldemort would have to have a sense of humor...
y/w, Vicuna.
"the letter used in the writing of Middle English to represent a palatal fricative"
okay - clean up time here - first ni 5??
i think i have that one tor
ni5 - rhymes with king whose touch turned things to gold
ni5/14 - add the first letters of Mr Hoffman's name.
hurshy - do you need the yo 5/14?
wolve - i have one of those, which is a plural, is there another?
thanks haz and hurshy
You're welcome, Wolvie.
the 5/20 - as in anyone being Yo***er than me?
i have that too.
are they all yo? cause i haven't any yu
What light through yo4 window breaks?
The last gy6/30?
okay - are you looking at the list?
All yo, yo ..
yo4/9 - usually ends in urt?
argh, i keep forgetting that you can do that without the ending!
gy and a flower, matty
it was the one tor just did. silly.
oh good guess vic
Thanks Wolvie!
(Okay, that's the fricative anyway, though.)
and, no wolvie, not looking at the list *knock on wood*
(yes, it is)
ooh - you are good hurshy
ji help?
just stubborn... sometiems
(It's the reason for such faux-antiquated spellings as Ye olde)
and not good at typing someTIMES
Jaime - ji5 rhymes with my picture clue.
It's also the name of a Terry Pratchett Discworld book
thanks, jacula!
did it eat your baby?
no 5/14??
Anyone else getting those "couldn't be added" red bars in the chat log?
like ni5/14

thanks again haz - I am blind today
not yet cnan *cringe*
perfect clue, hursh. thanks
When my daughter was 7, we went to my brother's wedding in the States (we were all part of the wedding party) - she got PAID to speak 'english' to them, including words that are naughty only in England (wanker) and (given that clearly many of the guests couldn't differentiate between English and Australian) "A di5 ate my baby"
Oh yikes, nan! I hope it isn't contagious!
Fireworks!
matty, igrew up on long island as well
Congrats, Wolvie!
I had a trio of students who all day every day performed their little song and dance routine on the subject of the infant-arian di5.
urfy urfy urfy
Did you, Jamie - where on the Island?

Anyone have gi7,44?
afternoon everybody!
hi Charm
nice one Tor....lol
;^) ;^)
hi Charm!
second gr 5/14?
hi charm
evening everyone
Flask - if you have the yo4/8 - take the first three letters and add the opposite of off. That gets you the yo5. Now add a vowel for yo6/30. It can be pluralised for yo7/44. And finally the yo5 can be pluralised to give you yo6/30.
gi7/44 - root powdered up and put in herbal en6 preparations
orio, it is a root
gi 7/44 -- oriental herbal remedy -- tea made from this root
Ok, folks. Refresh the page and scroll down below the chat log. :)
Hi, Annie, Mama, Sapphie, MVA
Flask - it should have read opposite of OUT.
second gr5/14 is pl of gr4/6 before the verdant color.
Ta, Cybernan
UNIFORMS!!!!!!! How cool is THAT????
good one, DR. Where's my credit card?
Thanks, Dr. G!!!!!
yes that worked

What next, cybernan? Why, Babble pants, of course.
How about XXL for us professional wrestlers?
You're welcome Flask.
wet t-shirts! lordy! what next! lol
I was a bit delirious when I created the t-shirt ordering system, so please let me know if it works. :)
get the XL, Torg - it will be better for the contest
delirious? were you ill?
torgone-
any clues for the gu's?
i agree: xl is a must.
Dr_G do you make them marquee sized???
No . . . . .No it won't ...
torgone- If there are enough big pro wrestlers out there, I'll make some XXL's next time ;)
gu7/52 - a fish, ends a lot like the place in the castle where you throw prisoners gu8 - pl of gu7
I'll just have to wait. They ought to make lovely gifts though ..
gu6/27 - a monkey, gu + attribution of a work whose author is unknown, but change the first vowel gu7 - pl of gu6
the only gu fish I know is a guppy...and there's no p in the grid :(
Dr_God has cleverly timed the launch of the T-shirts to coincide with all the fashion shows. They'll be a wow on the catwalks.
You can get me one for a gift, torgone. Heck, why not treat the whole gang!
gu5/20 - a kind of sack, also the prom dress everyone wanted in the 80's
so, was I the first to order a shirt?
it works just fine doc
thanks vicuna
hey, Dr G, love the t-shirts! just ordered mine

What's your size, vic? Wait, I'll just come over there and measure you myself ..
*turns a VERY cold shoulder to torgone*
Don't let hurshy hear you say that! (wink wink nu5, nu5)
Hell hath no fury and all that.....
hey dr god.. if ordering from the uk it still wants you to put in a US or Canada stae so i did...lol
Ooh, torgone, don't measure so tightly THERE!!!
in7,40, please
you know, if there were any other guys around here - other than divinities - i would so get you back tor
in7/40 gives you an understanding of a given situation
Ta, Haz

oh yuck -- 7 gy's! -- need a break before that one!
I just ordered my T shirt---next I want a shirt with all the babblets printed on it, well, almost all, there are so many
in7: in depth understanding
in5 - to invest with understanding
in + *** date of your baby (or past ***)
annie - may i recommend t-shirts.com? custom design your own shirt for a reasonable price, put on whatever babblets are your favorites.
ty charm good clue
yw
TWO shirts on the way to me!!!! :-)
hi hurshy!
stid is a shirt hog :)
Msree, did my icon change yet?
hi stid

urrrrrrrrrrrrf how can there be this many 7's
pida -- where did you find that cool church bulletin board?
phantom word - enough
OK, was it just me, or did anyone else have trouble refreshing?
mine was a little slow to refresh
Ooh - someone's found the Church Sign Generator!
it was slow for me matty but no other trouble
thanks, hurshy, i just might do that
It was slow -- it's lunchtime in the middle of the US matty -- lots of babblers eating and dropping crumbs while they find words...
You can also make restaurant signs, highway signs, love hearts, all sorts of things!
I refreshed, to get an ad for Babble T-shirts, which would cost me a fortune (I expect) to ship?
matty sa4 a woooooord (a LOT)

thanks scrabbler
sorry, I'm dense, need another clue for that Italian 'soft' clue????
i am a smidge confused cause i have si that is italiany...
so7 - start with so4 that sounds like a sharp weapon, add endings as in pasta rot--- and then change last vowel for the other so7
Italian here, Italian there...
ahhhhhh, why don't we just say they are like those squished together fish?
thanks, Vic! now about what's happening in your icon - it looks like a washtub....

No fair, hurshy! I'm still missing one!
are you missing any 8's?
No, got all those...
do you miss the lovely re 7/36?
fi5/22 alludes me
like yummy chocolate stuff but with i instead of u, chiley
last one....sy 5/14?
when you can't stop moving around you fi...
Ringraziamenti, vigogna, per tutti quegli indizii.

Bingo, hurshy... I'll look as soon as I get off the phone..

wow scrabbler, I can read what you wrote! (amazing since I haven't actually studied Italian for nearly 20 years)
thanks hurshy. :-)
I shall probably need a fish, but I can't seem to monkey the last ho4/5 (not the one meaning to sharpen)
oh thanks...just say chocolate and I'll find it
thanks hursy
hurshy
keep those clue requests coming folks, that's how i get words :)
Hello sweetie, I was so happy to see I am still in your thoughts.....:)
pet names matty?
I love Italian. I studied in college so that I could converse with my mother's parents that spoke no English.
honourables, matty
Got it - thanks Hurshy. You know what hung me up - it was that H is worth two - so making the 5
ah, that happens to me occasionally too
I love italian too! But never had a reason to use it. You know how it goes!
work calls... gotta go. bbl!
later gail!
IN7 (sorry to be a moron - must be my cold)
bye gail
sure. blame it on the virus, matty! ;-)
in7 was one of my first in7s today matty
Oh, I'm a moron
I finally have the in7 to work out the clue.
why doesn't fios count? fiochromalcytomas? (sp?)
all i know about them is that they are rare, but it's one of my favorite medical show words.
and im done...any clues before i get back to work?
Okay, got the re7/36, thanks, hurshy.
YAY cauz!
clues please for the 1st HO4/7 and ho5/16
yay cauz!!
hmm, cauz... can you tell me if there are any odd f's, hopefully maybe a pair that go together?
Well done cauzneffct
I think I need more help on the S8s. I am not seeing anything longer than the SU 7/44.
spell an italian gentleman funny stid for an si7, then pl, and for the other 8 change the last letter
the fi 518 and 6/30?
that'd be it! w00t!
{{hurshy}} you're the best!

the fi s are like norweigian inlets
cept without the J!!!! no fair. thanks cauz
*mutter mutter*
hurshy, are you related to my sister? she likes to "mutter mutter sputter" too....
6 to go... slog slog...
charm... if i were related to your sister, i would be related to you, so you would probably know about it
well, I don't 'mutter mutter...' although my 4yo is starting to. I wonder if I'm related to him?
unless one of you is adopted perhaps
sorry cauz....don't understand the salad clue!
the s8s are si 4/6 plus the last 4 letters of the last 2 years of high school
lol
Flask: kitchen utensil you use to pick up ice or to toss salad
flask... it's a rhyme
S8: then plural, or end in the sometimes vowel
flask: a city until 1997 ruled by UK in located in Asia, Ho** Kong
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL - i just got a spam that says in the subject line "spring is in the air, what is in your thighs?"
That's fabulous, hurshy!
cellulite
who on earth would be remotely tempted to read such an email?
I don't know... I'd be more tempted to read that than something boring.
it probably IS boring inside.
and if your thighs are fine, you don't need to read it, and if they are not fine, it's too depressing sounding to make you want to read it.
I"m sure it is. But the subject is sheer poetry!
Hi are there more than two si4/6 words
go5/20?
hee hee
Check out www.spamusment.com - poorly drawn cartoons based on real spam subject lines
don't think there can be based on what i have left peri
I can't figure out the si7 and si8 even with the clues
may i have a clue for no 5/14?
margaret mitchell's lesser known classic, go5 the wind happens to blow too hard
(Amazing discovery: letting my 4-year-old son type all my words for me really slows things down.)
no5/14 is like ni 5/14
somehow I think they may have meant what's "between" your thighs...I get 400 spam emails a day at work
go5/20: ***e with the wind + ** I were a rich man
shocker, vi
Vicuna, I feel the same way about my fiance!
peri: si 4/6 (road si**) plus last 3 letters of last year of high school (sen***)
thanks Hurshy, I'm actually missing both ni and no 5/14
Abe, honey, if your fiance has the functional intelligence of my son, you may want to rethink this marriage! :)
inge2? who's inge2? are you related to inge?
no, only in name
abe - ni5/14 rhymes with the king whose touch turned stuff to gold
lol Vicuna. he's decent at babble, but he can't match my frantic pace!
That's "in4/6" today, folks.
hi abe
Hi Charm! thanks Hurshy
nuh-uh vi.
rhymes with Midas? Nidas doesn't work
thanks cauz, I was confused, in your first clue you said last 4 letters of last year of high school and it was not accepteed
just cause it is in the grid doesn't make it like that, it has to count.
hehe, yes, my name's in the grid, but unfortanately not a word
not a visual rhyme
nuh-uh what, hurshy???
ooh bichon, but you are so close
what i just posted, vi. :) lol
starts with ni and the 4th letter?
yes... (think about the points)
go diagonal to the top right corner
Look, my name has never been in the grid, so I'm just jealous of those of you who are.
si 7?
maybe you'll get one in the future, vic
hurshy has never been in the grid either but i think hursh was one time
cyber: check out the clue at 1:47
si7: si+ not now but...+s
But if I WERE in the grid, I would actually count, so there's that to look forward to...
nidy
sorry, -- last two si 7's?
could I have the next letter after the 3rd on the ni5/14
just need the 2nd to last si 7 now
to ask what may be a controversial question.... although i hope not... is there just one re- prefix word, or are there two?
nidsa
going the wrong way bichon
just one, hurshy
ni + ***t bunnies under the bed?
think top right of the grid
sigh. then what r am i missing? :(
Voila thanks
oops.
hurshy do you go listless?
I have si7/36 and si8/50 and the gu7/52 and gu8/70. May I have clues for the other 8's please
I don't think there are enough hours in the day for that, hursh ;)
there are way too many common words in the grid today, i have stopped myself so many times...
sometimes inge. i am at the moment, and i have 6 to go.
could I have a clue for the gu7 and 8 please?
aHA! got the pesky little bugger.
Charms rhymes with dungeons
that's impressive hurshy!
gu 7- rhymes with person who runs a courtroom + opposite of off
peri: Re 8/45: pertaining to sap
it is a kind of fish charm, and it rhymes with high du7 (not in grid) - when you're righteously indignant
I go listless at the start, but find after finishing about 3/4 I have to resort to the list
back, finally!
popcorn sales are gonna kill me!
hi klaurel
Hello all
thanks abe and peri!
yw Charm. Hi Lady
nice clue hursh!
i do not let myself have list ever until i have 80-90%
hi, klaurel, ladyN
yw Charm
cauz, thanks but don't know anything about sap
I start with the list!
thank you for the gu clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
peri - you know sometimes you buy little figurines made of re5? re8 is adj form.
petaining to re 510: re + bad deed
how about gu6?
long day, long week, couldn't order the babble t-shirt so i'm going!!!!! see you all tomorrow!
***rilla warfare being refused in french, inge. ok that is a weird clue
bye MVA
peri, i think it's also what's used on violin bowstrings
is there a D6?
gu 6: (elmer's product -L) + (authorless book -a)
(the ro5 is what is used on strings)
no, it's a good clue, hurshy
I have the beginning of the re8 but can't fquite figure out the end
The ro5 is what's used on stringed instrument bows. And that also makes an r8.
Wow, the gang's all here!
peri, the end is... R.*.*.*.'s? i don't believe they exist...
hey, ladnoire!
No d6, hurshy.
Hello Une
ok thanks vi
re8: re+my icon hint + not yes + not them
thanks, rae....
I know...convoluted...
thanks everyone got the re8
ack ack ack
look alive hurshy look alive

Hi lady

Hi Peri
Hi Peri
re6/21? I'm sure it's obvious...but you know how it is...
HIya Rae
have the si8/50 may I have a clue for the other s/8 word please
anyone feel like they know what the weirdest D is?
Never mind.
10 second rule needs to apply again, clearly.
peri just change last letter of what you have
what ten second rule?
Any time I ask for a clue, wait 10 seconds - it seems that just the asking helps me get the answer.
do5/16 is the wierdest
thanks, hurshy
I agree with Vicuna
(or weirdest. whatever)
Happens to me, too Matty
you mean besides the plural right? there is another?
woot
Yup.
I think du5/22 is pretty weird
whats the do5/16?
thanks hursh, tried the e at first then the y
du5/22
ladynoire, I once worked with a guy whose last name was DU***!
thats too funny Une
well abe and vi win this round :)
yay! lady- do 5/16 is mans' name + sometimes vowel
do5/16 - some scottish dialectal thing. Start with do4/4 that is university fellows, and add sometimes vowel.
ok, brett favre to go...
*hugs abe and wipes away happy tears*
That *is* a strange one
brett favre?
*passes hankie to vicuna, while raising hands in victory*
oh ata...
he is the quarterback for the green bay packers, and his number is FOUR
Who are what is Brett Favre?
oh of course. why didn't I know that immediately! :P
ata, i had no idea either!
He's the football boyfriend in "Something about Mary," though, if I remember correctly.
he's only one of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL...
and he's been on funny mastercard commericials
Morning all. Can anyone clue me on the si8,60?

A little past his prime though . . .
i hope my 2 missing t's are a combo...
but i have the one that i can only assume is a cross between two big cats...
okay, udon is too a word!
do4/4 - University fellows?
like at oxford peri
Brett Favre should be my icon
thanks hurshy but that doesn't help me, I keep thinking of dean
(just b/c he's kinda cute too...)
he IS cute, i would have make an inappropriate comment if i didn't respect him and his wife so much
D** Adams - Get Smart
ugh, made
I tried udon too lady
what is WRONG with me today
and what is udon?
Hi Everybody
it's a type of noodle
Hurshy, he's cute but we respect him for his football and acting accomplishments
Missing the five big ones. si7,36 si7,32 so7,32 so7,32 and si8,60. ANY help?

I'd like to know what the heck se6/27 IS!
I'd like to know what the heck se6/27 IS!
heh, I don't intend to...my French friend told me if he has to have one more dodgy English conversation, he'll actually come over the channel to sort me out XD
(guess it bore repeating ;-)
for the 60..... priors live in a prior * add that same last letter to the si7/36 for the si8/60
(honestly, how selfish >8D)
hints for the si8/60 - not getting it
oh duh
I'll trade you the si8/60 for the last si7/36...

Thanks metal
If I had it, it would be yours Matty

Well done cybernan!
Congrats, Nan!
You're killing me today, hurshy . .no contest . . .
romeo loved juliet, juliet she felt the same... when he put his arms around her, he said "julie baby you're my flame... thou givest fever... fever when we kisseth, fever with thy flaming youth, fever! i'm afire, fever yea i burn forsooth!"
LOL Inge!
unlike Hurshy, though -- I used the list today.
i know that abe :) i was kidding too
thats great, Hursh!
have to go make lunch -- have an appointment in 1-1/2 hours.
Matty, I don't understand the clue in your profile ...
Clues for si7,32 or either of the so7,32?

What colour is my dragon - it's a simple as that, Lady! :D

the first th combo is weird, hurshy

19 left and they are all big ones. Can anyone clue me on ANY of the first four gu words?
hi all
hi, chj
you don't mean the 4/5 combo do you abe? i need a 5/6
Hi Chj
the weirdness of the 4/5 combo lying in the plural, of course
no, this is a th 5/16 7/27 combo. never heard of these words before
Thanks Abe - he's cool looking! Anyone can help with the two so7s, I'd be eternally grateful...
nogw and th5 ...
ok, oh, ah, thanks tor
* 6/27. he has such a beautiful face Matty!
1000 points each to abe and tor
beautiful face...isn't that code for fat?
oh, no, not in a cat, i see, ok.
LOL @ hurshy!
so7/32 - build on the so4/5 that precedes them (looks like a weapon minus a letter). Add the opposite of out and then a vowel. Both words end in different vowels.
not for the ti 5/14! (plus i wouldn't want to say that in front of his mama!)
i wouldn't want to BE in front of his mama, much less say or do anything there
very true
oh5 please
Thank you very much Haz
Haz, great clue!
hi everyone ! sneaking on at work - everyone doing ok today?
Thanks Haz (and everyone else from before in the grid)
i'll be at sudoku if anyone needs me (not that that is likely)
Hi Debb!
You're welcome - are you still looking for gu words, mkl?
Congrats on finishing, Hurshy
Sure am. Having a lot of trouble with higher letter counts today. At least this time my puzzle won't end with a five letter word.
Also, the gy 6 and 7 letter
gy + flower. does anyone have the sy5?
hey debb
Okay - gu7/52 and its plural gu8/70. The name of a fish (literally). The plural ends in a long period of time (a word within the grid) and sounds like something you hit people with (bl******) or a cantankerous person (curm******)
Abe was that gy clue for the 6?
sy5 is an alternative spelling for an attractive, though dangerous woman, or a noise made to attract attention.
TY for all of these clues Haz!
thanks Haz!
There are two gy6/30 - one has a flower added, the other adds a Frenchman's name. Think of Mr and Mrs Magritte with their dog after the war. It can be pluralised.
se6 please?
Hello Srab, CHJ - when did you guys sneak in?
12 left - on the THs now. This is feeling a little chore like now...sigh.
SORRY!
I have been here for awhile--mostly searching, not much babbling
se6 - imagine that the many married English King's name begins with s. Then add the fifth vowel. The word means Japanese 3 line poetry.
Who are Mr and Mrs Magritte?
a very famous artist and his wife
Don't understand the frenchmans name?
in the title of a song by Paul Simon
Not familar with them
thanks, Haz! How are you?
It's from a line in a Paul Simon song. I'm fine, Charm, thanks.
ah, I got it
Descartes shares the same first name I believe
Okay, I have 100 words - I think its time for the list
re6/21 please
You're right, he does. I'll have to try and think of other examples. I hesitated to clue **** and Renata for obvious reasons. Atalante will understand.
re + speak (past tense)
thanks Charm
yw
re5/12 please
**** and Georgette Magritte with their dog after the war la la la la
re5/12 = re + *** Vicious (*** & Nancy)?
thanks Charm, that one has been in grids before, just couldn't see it
This is not a Bloodaxe.
a clue please for re8/45
a clue please for re8/45
Congratulations on going pro, Bloodaxe.
thanks Haz. I feel like part of the crew now...
Fireworks...finally!
re8/45 - builds on the re5/10 and is the adjectival form
re8/45 = re5/10 meaning sap + adj. ending with opp of them.
sy5 please?
I wondered how long it would be before you would succumb!
** FIREWORKS ** Finally :D
congrats, Hithere....
well it became official this morning when Playbabble hid the "tile stats" from me unless I went pro.
sy5 - looks like an alternative spelling for what can be a dangerous though attractive woman, or a noisy machine designed to warn.
cheers Hi!
Yay, Matty!
cheers Matty! Who's next?!?
yay Matty
Thanks for the clues. Got several of them. Any more for the gu6,27 gu7,70 and gy7,44?
Other people would call it blackmail, Bloodaxe - we like to think of it as encouragement!
9 words to go
thanks haz and charm!!
su4/7 please
Yay, Matty!!!
Haha! Exactly. It was just the little push that I needed.
NM
gu6/27 - add an anagram of the nothing word no4/4. This can be pluralised.
su 4/7 - past tense of what some do in the shower
su4/7 = past tense of si4....
does anyone have the nu 5/18?
nu5/18 - you just need a little push to find it.
nu5 = nu*** nu*** wink wink what do you say????
down to 40 left, bbl
nu 5/18 -- to push someone a little , like at the elbow
abe, Playbabble gave me a nu*** to get me to go Pro
bye Peri.
thanks! i deserve a nu 5/18 with a fish!
gy7/44 is the plural of gy6/30 - the one previously clued with the French man.
G'night all!
night matty
goodnight Matty
bye matty.
Good night matty - see you tomorrow. Not that we're addicted or anything.
not at all. of course not.
Perish the thought.
Nope - not a chance ;)
no, addicts would do crazy things like buy t-shirts...
I just can't justify the $10 postage charge.
well then pretend the shirt costs $17.95 with $5 shipping. would you but it then?
BUY! good GRIEF
we should get DrG to set up a cafepress shop or something, matty, then we could get european rates of shipping!
That then makes it an expensive Tshirt LOL :D
On the gu 6,27 Can't seem to mix the anagram up to fit it
remember, this is a first edition t-shirt - it's an investment
It finishes with the french for no.
Never mind. Found it Thanks again
sn5, 14?
Plural of sn4/6.
Found it, DUH!
LOL . Well, my legs have fallen asleep (laptop on legs, legs on sofa), so good luck all!
Thank goodness - I was wondering how to clue it....
gu 7/52 pls
bye matty
Shalom Everyone
anyone wanting to anagram should go to http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/advan ced.html
Shalom ARB
Can some one clue the gu6/27 again
Shalom ARB. Erev tov
good afternoon ARB
One s left. si7,32?
nevemind
Ten second rule again
si7/32 - ends in the new year's word and begins with wrongdoing.
shalom ARB! haven't seen in a while. Everything okay?
lady, do you have the gu 7/52 ?
Yes, you need a clue?
are all the Ys YOs?
That's the si7,36 isn't it?
yes please
Everything is fine, Stidmama. Been out of the country almost all sumer and not been babbling regularly at all.
As in 'Yo Blair' yes.
re: T-shirts... I bought 2. But I am NOT obsessed with BABBLE! no no no... I got one for me, and one for stidmatt. :-)
gu + curmu***** then plural it
what T shirts?
curmu - grumpy old person
ok. Ys. I *will* find them all!
what's the "new years word"?
Dr. G is offering Tshirts! there is a link at the bottom right of the page. You might have to refresh to see it.
fireworks
Cheers Abe
!!!!
wonderful abe!
YAY abe!
o
Bloodaxe... your icon is rather grim. did you just go pro or am I imagining things?

inge - or could be Mercer Island.
phan, soap will leave this in the tub or on clothes if not rinsed off.
8 having lots of sap
inge - or even Bainbridge Island!
inge...just arrived...and from Seattle a flower island?!?
more help on the re 8 pls
si 7,36?
and go Jacula for knowing all the islands! :)
kristinc - I've come up with San Juan, Mercer & Bainbridge islands in that area for flowers.
re 8 - re 5/10 add suffix
If you're from Seattle, you'll be far more qualified to comment!
also Lopez and Cortes, kristinc
I'm impressed Jac the San Juans are really well know for a lot of lavendar farms but a specific flower island? hmm...
I'm looking for si 7/36 also :)
you get the tree sap and it gets really sticky it becomes re8
thnx
there are 2, which one do you need
si 7, italian mister
kristinc - maybe the German tourist had been told about a place by a friend? I guess inge needed to ask him/her about that.
It could be any one of those or even Lopez island. they are all known for their lovely flowers
Other si7/36 = si4/4 (transgressions) + sy4/6.
must be Jac...have you ever visited Seattle? (just curious)
ty lbd!
one a side note...we stayed in a cabin on Lopez Island last summer...it was wonderful!
kristinc - No. Not been to The States yet. My kids have though.
the 8's are plural then sometimes vowel
I loved anacortes, oak harbor is a fun little town
My first trip to USA will probably be to see my friend in Madison Ave, NY.
I see Jac...then quadruple kudos for knowing the geography over here!
si 7/32?
I'd love to do NY sometime...Boston also...haven't gotten to yet
si+th5/12
nm got it
lbd...I have friends in Anacortes...neat town!
Well I googled those two islands with not much to go on, Hubby suggested I google Garden Island, near Seattle and Vashon came up, which is the only place in Seattle I have ever been to....
i was stationed at Whidbey Island and we frequented oak harbor all the time
inge...yeah, I'm really drawing a blank...like most folks said all are often know for wonderful flowers...specifically lavendar all throughout the NW but I can't think of one specifically...sorry
lbd...moderately new to Seattle (Portland OR before that) and I haven't seen Oak Harbor yet
My former German classmate has ahouse on Vashon Island, I will ask her too, this tourist may simply have heard something "slanted" on TV in Europe
Speaking of garden islands, I'd like to visit the Scilly Isles. (Off the coast of Cornwall, UK.)
You will get there easier than us, Jacula
could be inge....Vashon is fun!
inge - Will you ever see that German tourist again? If so, ask! It will add to your commentary.
Kristi, take the Mucateo ferry across and hopefully you'll see dolphins!
su5/18 anyone?
inge - the Scilly Isles aren't that easy or cheap to reach even from here as access is via helicopter.
Jacula...me too...pick me...I want to go to the Scilly Isles!
Have you ever been to the Island Reichenau in Lake Cosntance in southern Bavaria? Now there is a FLOWER island
kristinc - su5/18 - very soapy/bubbly.
wait...cancel that...got the su5
thanks Jac
Kristi, more bubbles use the sometimes vowel
thanks lbd
se 6 pls
phan - se6/27 is a 3-line poem similar to Haiku.
(Japanese poetry form.)
so7,32 please
it's a stupid head word!
Saltspring and the other Canadian Gulf islands (like Mayne) are part of that complex containing the San Juans etc. There are huge lavender farms on SSI, among other things. And Vancouver Island has the great Butchart Gardens...
so4/5 plus end for magician harry Houd***
I see what you mean Jac, only 399 Brit. lbs for three nights, and that is a special, hehe
thnx
se 6,27 se+ I'M he*** the eight I am + 5th vowel
I was just thinking that maybe the tourist was thinking bouchart gardens.
Vancouver Island sounds more like it, Jilli
bubba - there are 2 so7/32's but they only differ by the last letter (a vowel in both cases). They both sound a bit like fish that come tightly packed in cans.
Thanks, ibd

kristinc - I'm tempted to to the no*, no*, wink sketch! Have a good time!

Have fun, Kristin! Thanks for the compliment, Jacula. I have a vampire hamster I'll icon someday. :)

Hullo all--surfacing here to ask about the last ho4/7
im not jewish jilli but like you i wish a happy new year to our jewish friends on babble
jilli - You've started me off on that damned song again with your icon! It sticks in your head and you keep making up rhyming verses... aaargh!
yarmulke! Poor Yul! Ya moucha sounds... vulgar! :)
hehe jac!
It started off as a game when my kids were little, but every time we hear mention of that song now... it sets all three of us off.
O.K>,I monkeyed it
Hetty - the ho4 is the nautical greeting beheaded and pluraled
bubba, rhymes with the basement of a castle where the torture chamber is.
Ta, jilli
Can I get help with the no4,5 that isn't a gesture, part of speech, or French word?
hi everyone
well, i knew i spelt it wrong... *blush and giggles*
chj, I know you're not jewish but neither am it - however, that's our bad luck I guess!
Stop cackling in that wicked way, jilli. There's a ti5/14 behind you! ROFLOL.
Hey hey . . last do5/16?
Thanks, IBD, never would have monkeyed that
Ankh, kinda like the seaweed wrap but 4th letter of the alphabet instead of the r
Ankh - no4/5 - sounds like Enid Blyton's character whose best friend has Big Ears.
seaweed wrap? as in some kind of sushi??
no4 - change the last letter of theno4/5 after it (the gesture) to a vowel
more than one *** corleone plus sometimes vowel
Oh, Jilli, now I have it... sorry I don't know Enid Blyton, Jac. But I'm good now.
Thangkxs lbd!
Ank, no+royal princess
yw tor
Don't know Enid Blyton?? Blimey!
Cor! Truly, I don't.
Txs, Lbd!
Jac, remember many of us are US public schooled...not very literate with brit lit.
Nothing against you, Ankh, but, my! How times have changed re children's books!
I'm OLD, Jac!
lbd - I wouldn't call Ms. Blyton's books literature, but they were certainly very popular with children. Famous Five, Secret Seven, The Mystery series, Th Adventure series, The Faraway Tree series and many, many more.
*blinks blankly* I know Gerald Durrell's books, does that count?
Ankh - I think I may have asked you this before (LOL) but how old is 'old'?
My Family & Other Animals etc. Nope! Doesn't count, Ankh!
ankh, you don't know what old is!
Jac, truly we missed out on some great stories, stuck with dick and jane, puff, spot and such
Ankh - jilli knows what she is talking about. She is senior to me.:D
You missed out on Just So Stories, the original Pooh, and so on, I bet
Old, well, Jilli, I bow to your experience! Jacula, 47. I missed out on Pooh completely, AND on Sesame Street.
How tactful, Jac!
jilli - I didn't! But then I don't think you were addressing me?
i was lucky and had some wonderful reading teachers who introduced me to AA Milne and others as a wee one.
My mom was young and not exactly geared up for motherhood; we missed a lot of traditional things.
Ankh - you're only 2 years behind me. Time you caught up on your childhood. Get the books! LOL.
But at least we were still in the reading generation, pre-so-much-TV for kids.
Ankh, get thee to the library and check out the kiddie section. there really are some wonderful stories there.
jac - I don't know what you didn't, but nm!
Eh! First, may I have some help with ti words? I only have three! The last one, the one about color shading, and the one that is kind of a bell sound.
*loved "Harriet the Spy" and the original "Nancy Drew" series*
2nd gr5/14? p & ty
Hey! It denies me "tignon" but those were required by law here 100 years ago, in New Orleans! Dang.
Yes, go to the library - you see, I missd out on some great "new" kids' stories like Charlotte's Web and the Roal Dahl (sp?) ones and Lemony etc
ti-what some food come in, and then there's the one that starts out like the big cat but ends with opp of off. (then plural)
Ankh - lbd's given you great advice there. Children's books are wonderful escapism. Read them yourself, enjoy them and then read them to kids. Don't just read them out, do all the voices and actions. It's the best fun, I promise you! I was always fully booked up at playgroup for that task... until my daughter learned to walk and whacked a little girl off each of my knees, saying, 'That's MY Mummy!' LOL.
Heh...
ankh, take out the first N in your word
Txs, lbd, have them now!
gi7,44, please
do I see hetty's happy presence today? Hetty dear! yoo hoo!
Ankh - Harriet the Spy was the worst film I ever saw. Not read the book though.
I didn't see the movie, heard it was dreadful.
Book was excellent.
bubba, a chinese herb
Hi Stid!
hi lbd!
jilli - Charlotte's Web is a wonderful story. I hope you've read it now?
I love the new kids books. Hubby likes them too, we both kid each other as to who will get to read them to our grandson
I am down to 20.
go Stid!
The last ro4,6?
what is the OH word please?
Babe was a wonderful book and the film was okay, too. Babe II - Pig in the City was DIRE! Hollywood should sometimes just NOT do follow-ups.
Ankh -- you ro**-cheeked young thing, stop blushing!
(that was a clue, Ankh)
stid - oh word is exclaiming.
Woot! Done and so cross eyed I'm out!
*blushes harder* Txs!
YAY phand!
YAY phand! woo-hoo!
thanks Jacula. Now It's my turn to be ro** cheeked!
ok, down to business - I have 6 left, all s words and all biggies:
LOL, stid.
Ask away, jilli....
se6/27?
I finally did the Lickety... I am missing 7 yo words! How dense can one hamster BE?
ROFL Ankh!
se6/27 is a 3-line poem form like Haiku.
*throws sunflower seeds at Ankh.*
yes, I saw that and I wish I knew what is was :(
*tucks the seeds into her ro** cheeks, puff puff!*
Re the se6/27 - Think English king who had 6 wives, then change the first letter to 's', then add the last vowel in the vowel list.
Ankh - those seeds are good for the brain - don't mush them in your cheek pouches for too long!
I have the smutty yo* words, but not the clean ones *sigh*
thanks jac - can't imagine why I didn't know that obscure word
Ibd, Thanks, but still trying to get the gi7, the only one I know is not on the grid
and that was a great clue, jac - thanks
Ankh's got the opposite of 'lingham' words then...
well, it's story time. Are folks ready or should I wait a bit? Tom will pick Grant up from his friend's house so I have plenty of time
Most of the rest of the yo's refer to a dairy product (soured milk one) and the Beatles' friend, the Maharishi Yo** in all his incarnations.
gi7 - a popular herb - starts like "mother's ruin" and then vocalises with a change of vowel
Yep. Found the anatomical yo's right away, but please clue me on all but one of the others. Ah, Jacula, let me try all those, brb.
gi7 is said to enhance the sex drive or give you en6/30.
now I need 3 si words - si7/36, si8/50, si8/60
TEN remaining
Stid - go ahead!

Hi, everyone. I must be the last one in he whole wide world not to get the gu 6, 7 after the gu8. I've made up a whole lot of new words, tho. Help?

That was the si8/50, I think
If I could only type correctly at this time of the morning i'd be a ge5/16 with an 'i' in the middle!
Jilli, plural then change that to sometimes vowel.
oh boy, I tried changing it to a 3rd vowel. Grrr
that do5/16 means the way I've been feeling lately - totally lacking in vitality
Ankh, don't hold a gr**** for me not telling you the answer, take out the r and add many many years.
Ankh - the gu 7 & 8 are fish.
how about those stros
Ankh--the first part is hold something against someone - r; ending is like the dank part o a castle. The def. is a fish & its plural.
thanks, lbd. Now I need so7/32 x 2
Ankh - Latin name is Gobio Gobio. Google it.
Hi Rennie!

Stid's doing storytime
Although she could finally sit comfortably supported only by pillows, for the trip home they put her on a padded board in the back of the wagon.
Well done, jilli!*~*~*~*~
*giggle* wondered if I need to explain it! Yes, storytime. I waited for Jill to finish.
Renfield, was that for one of us in particular? ;)
lbd - I know stid's doing storytime, but she is being distracted.
hi rennie! Just read your profile.. am struck dumb as usual <G>
Esmeralda and Andy sat beside her, keeping her entertained with stories and songs.
ankh - mistress is jacula...our mistress of the might and of course the ruler of renfield
stid - just jilli then? Okay now?
Hey, thanks, stid!!!!
Jac -- nothing distracts me except kids and dogs. Tonight it's the dogs. Carry on, friends! Clues ahoy!
i gave you a break jilli ;-D
Gilly and Paul walked alongside, holding hands and exchanging worried looks.
didn't catch that part Jilli
what part, lbd?
Adam walked with Ava behind the wagon, thinking of the many journeys they had made in it -- to visit their children and grandchildren; and the final journey everyone in the family took...
ankh - LOL! It's ages since anyone wondered (and probably went the sexual route and got it all wrong) why Ren calls me 'Mistress'. I'm just surprised still that we are not challenged on that more often.:)
He was worried about Sebastian. The child hadn't been found, though the searches had been thorough.
dumb is an apt word for rennie's bio jilli
Heh, Ren. :)
sy5?
hahaha mistress! i remember what paul said about me calling you mistress!
Well, I'm still clueless re "of the might" but not going to ask!
totally fictitious would also fit
chj - Rennie may be my loyal fly-catching servant but dumb is not a word I would apply to her.
Nancy's husband had hinted that there had been some unsavory types at the market the day Sebastian disappeared, buying provisions for their ship. Unusual, since most ships got provisions closer to the port.
chj - you better be good!
But "ruler of Renfield" made perfect sense once I thought it out.
oh right...i made a resolution
nice bio ren
totally ficticious however...
ooh, what's this, chj? Restlessness in the ranks?

Gilly and Paul and Esmeralda were left, standing together.
re: say it again
"Paul, did you see the bird today?" asked Esmeralda quietly.
"Yes," he admitted, "but I didn't want to draw anyone's attention. I thought Nan needed to get home."
What do know, I finally broke the 1000 mark in the rankings.

i think your spelling is the most popular one, although caitlyn is also used
there is no correct spelling; then can decide
Kaitlyn, Kaitlin and Caitlyn are all valid
if you're german, i guess it could be kaitlin or kaitlyn
