fliparoooooni
that's what I say, should I or shouldn't I coz very busy tomorrow
wow-- a whole sl4/8 o' words...
oh Ankh - didn't know anyone had noticed the Mock Turtle
hooray!!!!, got sick of that last one

is the theme a word from the grid again?
yep
yes hk
re6
re7
tx fran - & thankyou & everyone else cluing me!
re 9/72
re8/70
Yes, Jilli, I appreciate the effort you put into your icons & tales!
ok, looks like a load of re words
Good evening all -- see you are well into the grid!
thanks, ankh!
hi nan
Shalom Everyone
hi nan and shalom ARB
and peace unto you, ARB
I think a few words will be ending in "ing"
shalom arb
debb - did mets win? last I heard they were ahead
they did jilli ! we won!! good to have ou on board!
YAY Mets!!!
hi am long one today
I have one 8 letter word, to8/70 something you do when drying yourself after a shower
mrp - you want to tell them?
100 - 1285
phantom - dildo *chuckle*
I LOVE LICKETY!!!!!!
Dang, Helen, you are *fasssst*
Thank you, Lickety.
this looks like a rather easy puzzle
(((((((((lickety))))))))) you're the best!!!!
I have one of the 9 letter words...to plant things again
your welcome!
*gives Jilli a faux-shocked look*
hi all -- decided to stop by... TOO big a grid!
hi lickety!
hi stid
have my icon!
great, O Great Lickety!
en 7/48
shalom ARB -- is it the feast of booths yet?
thanks colhad
Starts tonight, Stidmama.
:-) I love the imagery and the meaning of it. I have been reading a little bit...
educate me please - what is the feast of booths?
hi stid
It is a great graphic way to teach kids .
hi muse!
jill was wondering myself
fran - i don't know who that is!!
me neither
Jill -- it's sukkot, follows yom kippur (the atonement day) and it celebrates leaving Egypt and the wandering the Israelites did in the desert
does the 'who' matter? Is it head lice? -LOL
but why booths?
the people build really cool shelters, called booths, that represent the structures that sheltered them all those years,
Feast of booths is Succot - 8 day festival/holiday. Probably comes from a prehistoric feast of harvest, but now includes a ceremony of finishing reading the 5 Books of Moses and starting the cycle again for the year, AND commemorating the 40 years of wandering in the desert. So you build a temporary booth/shack/lean-to and are supposed to at least eat in it if not also sleep.
ah, I see - great story we all learn
thank you ARB
:-) I knew an expert would fix my simplistic explanation!
very interesting I did know that
My pleasure.
when using lickets list if one types the word at the top - clicks add word - does it only add to that list or is there a way of bringing it to "my word list"
Stidmam, I'm no expert. The very religious in Israel don't consider me knowledgeable at all, since I attend (gasp) a Conservative synagogue.
no ursh, lickety's does not transfer to here -- separate systems and all
ursh - I wish - but they are quite separate
thanks jilli - always looking for shortcuts
don't we all -- heehee
arb - i always found that kind of silly - the neighborhoood i grew up in has become very very orthadox and one day my mom was walking on the street and a little kid said to his mom - why isn't she a jew ? and my mom who's the sweetest lady in the world nearly bit his head off
sl8/60, something you do in the snow
and ARB, where do Reforms stand?
ty col
ty col
one got any 9s
Jilli, on what issue?
np
none yet
ARB -- I am just barely scratching the surface of all the important feasts and festivals. I first got interested years ago when I was studying origins of Christian holidays and discovered how many coincide.
oh debb! that's amazing.
i have one taz, re 9
ty natasha will look
as far as the opinion of them in Israel. I know nothing except that many of my NY friends were Reform
And when you scratch the surface you find how much pagan feasts and celebrations are at the bottom.
Hear hear, ARB
we 7 -- the bells are ringing!
Jilli, Reform Jews historically were not so Zionist. They have become very Zionist and are trying to build a solid network in Israel.
we7/60, when people throw their lives away :P
yes, as my further studies have shown! it
Really!!! Surprise!!! How times change. Those I knew were virtually secular.
it's interesting to see how jealously people guard their celebrations, only to discover how much they really have in common.
re 9/102
thanks, nan, for the bells!
nan re what lol
whoo hooo, 106, 2060 points
to plant again taz
why taz, the bells are ringing again!!!
ooo ty nan
Being secular and being Zionist are not mutually exclusive, Jilli. What will save Israel in the end will be the secular Jews who serve in the army and work, not the extremely Orthodox who only study and are given stipends from the government and do NOT serve in the army.
oh, shame on me, natasha, 14 and 334 pts -- but lots of info about other matters
Did anyone mention re9/66 yet?
very interesting, ARB. And dare I say Iam taking a sabbatical from organised religion?
jilibus, looks like an interesting conversation. I don't mean to brag, just excited about how far I've come in a short time. I suspect I'm about to slow down!
Don't get me on my soapbox about the ultra orthodox in ISrael, Jilli. I can wax eloquent!
not that i saw
re 9/72
lol arb - i bet you can!
Wow Natasha *bows to greatness*
more like bowing to luck stid!
natasha - don't worry about it - it's not 'bragging' - it's called 'setting a good example' - lol
natasha, didn't mean any put-down! I'm lost in admiration of all you speed artists who can also chat!!!
I got the R 9/102!
60 words, 697 pts
wow stid (see what I mean, natasha?)
didn't take it as a put down jili, but thanks
any clues on that re 9/66?
TOO many EEEEEEEs. *that's my professional opinion*
i agree stid!
see, I get all carried away if I can find a 6 or 7 letter word X-/
not here natasha
125 and 1984 points -- time to quit for the night -- see you tomorrow, I'm sure :)
a gray box! (okay, it's the U 1/1 on the right, but still)
good night Nan!

eastoftheweb.com has some cool word games
Have you tried quotepuzzler colhad?
ahh yeh, East of the Web, play those a fair bit
nope, where do I get that from
i like the code breaker there
http://www.quote-puzzler.com
I play popwords and 8 letter abit
A few of the Babblers visit QP - you'll see Franmag on there most nites ...
I'll try that quote puzzler
also wordsandwich.com
and chi.lexigame.com has a cool anagram challenge each day
Chiauhaua, can never spell it right, is one I play there
oh me too colhad
just got back from paying attention to Cat - and saw you'd joined the ship of fools, cohad, by going pro. Welcome!
chi-hua-hua <g>
very good jilli lol
The top row of letters are nasty !!!
Omg - I found a 9 without a clue - and it's a silly word!
Sorry - I had to celebrate = this does not happen usually
*yawn* morning all! if i write anything silly here, my cat is trying to help me today ...
Hi ata
Morning Ata
wots it start with ang?
Morning all Ata we have picked the sale words but from different angles.
It a re 9 - yes a re in front of a word you all ready have!
oh yes :) yay for Emmerdale!
Ata love the icon clue
Hi FMitch
good work btw ang
I am chuffed ... back to the slog - startd with a hiss and a roar and now very slow!
Hi angb All 3 9's are re's
ooo I got a 9 too!
thanks fmitch - i have two, but that will def help narrow the search for the third - are any of them plural?
I used to watch Emmerdale ages ago but can't remember the names
Oh - no .... and so are a lot of 7 and 8. I am going to go mad........
No pls Bloo, let me know if you need a clue
I just wnet through all the s words I had and added re and found about another 8 words.

I am just going that FMitch. The one I have is re 9/102.

295
Hi marso 295!
please - I can't remember the Emmerdale family!
jilli di6/27 dell
ok, thanks, frances!
cheers both of u :)
a useless lot, as I recall -- ?
You're welcome jilli
ur4/5 sarahlou found in the excretion of liquid from the body
a very useless lot, but highly amusing
They still are!!!
HAve to admit not watched it for a few weeks so have misseda ll the fun and games.
that show is hard to follow here, but Coronation Street is a regular on CBC although 9 months behind the UK
did you miss all the kidnapping "drama", FM?!!
phantom - skewed
Yup missed all of that but pick up snippets in the press etc.
Such a small village with so much going on!
was all very silly ... and no more Cain Dingle *sigh*
ata said a woooord
Same could be said for Midsomer Murders!
no! WAH! sorry!
no u carry in ata!!! lol
At least with Midsomer Murders the goings-on take place in several villages
on*
and Corrie takes place on one street (mostly)
Yes but that is getting a bit boring now. Same with Eastenders
they have their ups and downs, and here Corrie isn't boring - as I said, 9 months behind the UK and we hear much is to happen
Now Spooks - that is a different kettle of fish
I always find that Emmerdale is ok for 6 months, then for 6 months its soooo dull I don't bother watching, then get drawn back in with some plotline or other
Yes Ata and the scenery is much nicer.
oh yes! at least its always pretty
I wonder if we can get Spooks - I think I've heard of it -- about MI5ish things???
Thats the one
sounds good
it *is* good
must look for it
if I can ever tear myself away from this game
and it even had a guest appearance by Alexander Siddig one series *love* (Julian Bashir on DS9)
Yes jilli. I must tear myself away too. Lots to do before the cricket club dinner tonight. Bye all. Have a great day
bye frances and jilli (if you ever go!)
Bye Frances
bye u2 tc
I have all of 55 words and am not getting anywhere so I really AM going to bed - g'nite all

fmitch, there are 4 e4s. which do u need
Well done Karys!
yw Ata....*bows, and says baye for now*
make that 5
no7/36 that motion you do with your head when you say yes, but this would be applied to many people doing it I'd say
FMItch - sorry, I had forgotten to update my profile! It is e4 rather than gl anything.
Thanks ramix - it's OK I have them. Hey Colhad your'e a pro!
Ah that explains Haz, well they are very pretty ladies anyway.
Colhad - my icon - is that what you mean?
They are - I'll probably change them when I find something more obscure. You know how twisted I am.
got all the ni words
Yes, who knows what interesting/obsucre words are still hiding.
Love your icon Angb, quick trip down memory lane and an n7 thrown in for good measure
phantom word - dildo. driving me gaga
That was my favourite TV programme when I was a kid. And Andy Pandy ... LOL showing my age.
I liked the original version of Bill and Ben. And Tales of the Riverbank - hamsters going about in little motorboats.
new pic :) bored of Zak and Lisa ...

It's also a term used to refer to a western movie.
Good morning ex-Wren. I've just found a lovely re7/48. It's what people who are good at se6/36 do with their clothes when they put weight on again.

You're welcome
That's it - half way. I'm off for the list.

Not here, metal
Not here, metal
I always have lag metal - but possibly cause we're so far away.

The antlered animal found many fourth letters of the alphabet strewn about the ground. But he died as he was struck by a pesticide. Satan applauded (obscure wordhere), then another Satan popped up. The farmers were in their de4/4s (minus an "L"), and one went to a yummy eatery. Then another yummy eatery came along. The land grew very dry, and turned into the Sahara. But a simple worker sat at his piece of furniture, and noticed that dawn was making everything wet. A DE story brought to you by Kwick Klooze....LOL!
yw, metal, BTW!

TY !
It's really hard to find other words for common usage terms!
3 letters closed out ^_^ sadly they are A C and U
I think I was trying a bit too hard on that one - I was trying to read too much into 'the act of vision'!
Yes, I was trying to get across the idea of 'activity' with the act of business.
any clues on the sk 7/52? I think I have tried every possible combination
alt spelling for what you do with long sticks on snow
ARB, sounds like "skiing"
It's another present participle, using the sk4/8 as its base.
I should have kept your ing list, Jai. Thanks

blood, I dont have the list but so far I only have 2 els the one I clued and past tense
Bloodaxe - among the e words there are snake-like fish which may or may not be creepy. There's almost all of a feathery duck and directions to put things down, not on the bottom but en7/48.
alright. thanks.
thanks haz, got it. What a loveling picture
dingle
Bloodaxe, there are at least 6 el words...
el4/8 - animals. el5/12 and its past tense el6/24. Think of how people leave out things in pronounciation
el5/10 - means to leave things out of legal jurisdiction, but looks like a cut of meat after the e.
Haz, thanks, great clue
thanks haz. i'm getting some of them now.
Glad it helped, Annie.
Also, an el/4 that means otherwise and an el/4 that means ancients
eo5/10 - eo followed by Biblical wrongdoing.
another letter..poof!! lol
how about the U?
ur4/5 - u plus the start of what you do with a book
ty haz
You're welcome!
Bye All. Time for me to toddle off to dreamland. I'm sitting at my keyboard snoring intermittently and dozing off. The last 54 will have to wait until this afternoon when I awaken. Happy Babbling, and I hope you have lovely arbitrary time unit designations of your choosing.
sweet dreams, metal
Sleep well!
bye metal, Hi everyone else
Hello pida.
finally finished up to and including the re's. I always start at the bottom, but it sure is slow work, today
I'm back again and stuck on the first 're' 6,18 in Lickety's List. Help plez.
nice going, pida1
It's the one above the one that means to view something again.
re 6/18 to sit down again
The first re6/18 on the list is to make people sit down again
I know I'm a numbskull today, but what is your grid clued for ch1212?
Doggone it, all these twists are killing me today. I'm forever turning and changing directions. Thanks.
I have to agree with you Merk
a clue for*
BTW, did I say GOOD MORNING?
di 5/14, pida -- :)
good morning, laurel!!!
g'day klaurel
I cannot get the di 6, 7 &7 in a row there. I read Jac's dell clue, went way over my head. Could I get another please?
di6/24 - if you have the draining away dw7/52, remove the w and you have the di6/24. It rhymes with a part of a spinning wheel.
i needed all three of those. thanks haz.
Ty Haz, I spotted those and thought "There is no way that is a word. Gonna have to type in everything I "see" now.
is 5/12 please?
what Gilligan was
this grid is going to kill me today
....I had tried that word >_<
bunny - there are quite a few words today that are eyebrow raising, to say the least.
i might just have a day or two off babble, after the grid today. finished, but what a struggle. bye all.
Bunny - Sounds a little like what Mark Foley might have done with the pages . . .
Bye Grim - yesterday's was worse than today's but maybe it's just the cumulative effect.
but toss an N in place of one of the double Ds
Good morning ... Another meaty one, eh?
morniong tor
I think I stopped conversation with my Mark Foley comment :D
hi torgone
I'm going to step out and have a smoke, i just spent almost ten minutes looking for a word I already had!
He's trying to start over .. He says he want to turn over a new page ..
<LOL> poor Bnny
OOOOOOOOOH, that is horrible, Tor! :D
HA!
He should be in prision and to think he was the head of the committee for exploited children
I agree with you Annie, but they do have a point about the Rep in '83 who was caught WITH a page and only censured and won another 5 terms
I was watching the Daily Show and they showed FOX News altering reality again. . . the label: MARK FOLEY (D-FL)
laurel, just shows how interested voters are in the backgrounds of our Reps and Congressmen...maybe, now it won't be so easy for these pedophiles, oh, it is horrible
It pays to be in government, especially if you are a republican, or Clinton
hey, at least Clinton had affairs with those of legal age and everyone knew he was a philanderer before he was elected
and JFK had his conquests too.
I know, just had to throw him in so your wouldn't think I was too anti-GOP
laurel, JFK had sexual encounters with women who wanted to be with him...Foley is a sleaze
I don't care who does what to whom, as long as they of legal age, and it isn't my grandkids involved......
they are"
pida, I agree!
Foley is a sleaze
Clinton had encounters with women who wanted to be with him
any clues for the to8 please
to8/70 - the act of removing moisture after a bath?
did anuone see the john stewart take on the foley incident?
drying off
among others. Why do you think the others were covering for him? And they think if they throw Foley to the wolves, others won't be under the microscope!
<LOL> I have to agree with you pida
rolin - I TiVo Jon Stewart! :D
cheers haz and ch1212
watch that and Colvert Report religiously
No problem ren.
i never miss his show if i can help it..its just so totally irreverent
thanks, haz and ch
that is what TiVo is for!
what is TiVo?

I am pro, I eanr lots of money now :P
earn*
You need to share you secret, cause I want lots more money too.

God, I sound like an illiterate idiot today. The twins are brushing my hair to keep them occupied... and that is a thought!
I'll take all the checks and leave the cash, they'll never catch me ;P I am finally done, so if anyone needs a clue before I head to Sudoku.

Hi Wolvie. I'm finding this grid a bit of a challenge.
I have a month's worth of archives I can do.
Has anyone seen faeriekae lately?
en 7/48 - en + smart
Faerie is the middle of a move.
lots of ing's today - that's for sure. :-)
She's moving, Dr_God
TY, bunny
I'm sorry, en 7/48 - opp of beggining + smart
She didn't expect to play for about a week or so, as of about 3 days ago
Moving, eh? That would explain why her Babble t-shirts came back to me.
Babble T-shirts?
If you see her, tell her to email me so I can get her new address and get her t-shirts out to her.
She should be back online within another week. I don't know if she can access email or not, though.
Will do
Dr G...I am wearing my T shirt as we "speak"
Gracias
I bet Shorty has her forwarding address.
Very nice, Annie ;)
bunny, I bet Shorty does too - between us, let's make sure she gets the message. :)
Hmm, shorty is missing too
Me too - wearing my t-shirt
Dr G, got my t-shirt too and I love it!
Yeah..I haven't seen her in the log since flip while I was clue hunting, I'll find her profile and see if she has an e-mail address in it.
ch - I believe we clued the same word today. :-)
Where's everyone getting these shirts? I feel left out!! <---pouting
I'm should ask everyone to take a picture of themselves in their Babble tees and send them to me. I could create the Babble Army page :)

i will join your army god... if you make a small one
ke 6/30 anyone?

I think that would be a good idea Dr. G, I would like to put some faces with sn's (if I had a shirt...sniff).
bunny, look under the chat log
bunny - scroll down the page . . .
Yes, Dr_God but it would be funnier if we all slip into a red beard and sunglasses for the photo!
thanks, bunny
ke 6/30 - ke + anagram of digits on your feet
oh, my icon is for the di5/14
LOL - oh - sorry
I thouht they were bearings.
If you can find a long red beard and shade, please do so. ;)
Ahhh, I see. I get sop focused on teh grid I don't even see the rest of the page. TY.
LOL!
it is funny - I do need coffee!!
I have long red hair, can cut a patch out and start mailing Babbler to Babbler for picture poses...
me first, me first
and to think, I already had that word. man oh man
I have photo alteration software and could easily add a fake red beard (and probably shades too) to everyone's photo -- !
Of course, it would be better if everyone was a little different, and came up with their own fake red beard and shades :D
Ank can use her hamster...
costume stores here we come. :-)
ROFL!
can i please have a clue for ye 6
y + long water thing + opp of out

Oh, how did I miss that!!! Thanks bunny.

I had the hardest time finding it too, probably the most "normal" de word.
For some reason, my eyes were fixated on the bottom lefthand corner.
anyone have a clue for gl5/16, the first one, I have the flying word, but I need the other one
Gramma, what type of flower is that in your pic?
I really do not like doing this but I have to leave, see you all later
Say, !!! is that a photo of you? If so, you are a beauty! I thought it was a closeup of a Madonna... until I clicked on it and saw the piercing, of course.

Yeah, I just found her. TY, I had looked once, but the list is sooooo long.
Too bad "wars: isn't in the grid today ..
Bunny, I go to the "EDIT" button at the top of my screen, select "FIND" and then in the new box that will pop up, I type in what I'm looking for, in this case 'shorty'.
de6/39 just cant find it
are there any to 5-6 plural combos besides the one(s) used after a shower?
ursh, it's de + what a bird has to fly with
nm -- just found the 6 I was missing!
yes, cyber
re 6/18 and re 5/10 just above to replant?

re6/18 - to spring back, to bounce 5e 5/10 - to have to go to confession again :)
M I HATE DIAL UP!!!
to 5? -- have hauled, drying rag, and high rise -- missing?
unless you mean the other plant again, in which case: re6/18 - to take a chair again re 5/10 - to look again
those last 2 were the ones, ch - thanks. :-)
cy, you are missing the to5/18 that starts with your others, but ends in two vowels.
thanks, ch1212
ch, I learn something new every day, I had no idea that was there!
y/w -- nice to be able to return the favors!
bunny, if you use the log icon to open up the new window with the whole chat log, you can then use the same "FIND" button ... for example, I type in mo5/18 or just mo5 and it keeps finding all the times it was mentioned in the chat log for clues :)
You are my hero!!! I spent so much time log surfing this morning!
(blush) gosh, thanks... Well, I'm off to the post office and errands. Happy hunting all!
bye ch
Bye ch1212
Bye ch1212

!!!, no, not yet anyway
ok
i'll never know if i finished it then, haha
It tells you when the grid is complete and how many points will be added to your ranking.
do we still have rankings?
You can go through the archives too and do old puzzles.
that's GREAT!!
whew - that's the r's done
I agree emusing, how did I ever live without it?
can you bunny - that's good to know!
Just in Sudoku, I wish the option were available in Babble!
bunny how is the house coming on??
Fireworks! Whew!
Funny you should ask! If I had know that my husband was this much of a procrastinator...well, we may have bought something a little more "complete". I have a very, very, very, long haul.
WTG Merk
Yeah for Merk
congrats Merk!
oh bunny - hope it get's finished eventually!
Poor bunny...you could withold his "rights" until he does some work!
Hmmm, tearing down 3 large storage structures, adding on 4 rooms, not to mention a 4 acre fence, pool, and landscaping...I figure 50 years at this rate!
Are you kidding? He's to "tired" from driving in an air conditioned truck all day... and that's all I'm going to gripe about Stephen cause I'll never stop! I can get it all done on my own while the twins are napping.
You can do it bunny LOL
By the way, I love my husband.
Thats great bunny
I figured, bunny. :-)
se 6./24 just before se 4 for searching?
Didn't know you'd opened a can of worms, huh Cait? LOL
I have the past tense of planting and the planting...
SORRY........

I'm missing 3 le4's-- have the veggie, the smile gone wrong, the hawaian floral wreaths, and the synonym for salacious, but 3 in the middle are defeating me.
like a br***** colored dog - is one 6, then past tense and plural are 2 more 7's - just use a d instead of br
hetty - I am finishing from the bottom up - don't have any other ones than those you mention
that br clue was for you, shmooz
ty wovlie, got 8 words from that!
yep - good thing - my clues were bad. :-)
Thankfor trying, Wolvie. I'm going to scroll through earlier clues--if I find them I'll tell you
Hetty I have a le6/18 - a wound or cut
one le 4 end in a cross letter - just found it
double vowel
one ends in a plural - double vowel

Hello all
Lain - its where you live
hi lady

or use re 5/20, and the di 4 sound a bell makes. :-)
Hiya Wolvie, how do you like this weatehr
oops! i clued the 102 - sorry
good - need the rain. :-)
Its been a rough week Wolvie
oh yes? Sorry to hear that lady.
Yes, my kitty is dying
hope it gets better for you.
oh no - I'm sorry to hear that - mine just had surgery a while back, we were lucky to save him
why - lady - age - ill
anyone have do6/24?
they're not sure, but she's 14 -it could be cancer or a tumor, both of which are terminal
testing alone will cost 1500$ and we just cant afford that
oh man - it's terrible what the cost of vet care can force you into - the surgery on mine cost quite a bit - I had to put it on a credit card
I"m just thankful she's not in any pain
yeah, and even if they find whats wrong, the vets 95% sure its terminal no matter what
trouble is if she tests postive for cancer = nothing can be done at 14 yrs = can only love her and let her go
I'm really sorry to hear about this lady - they are like children, in a large respect. I'm glad she's not in pain
Thanks Wolvie
so I see its another big grid today
shmoo - do6/24 - sounds like small crocheted mat but knock off the last letter and then make it past tense. lady - hugs for your kitty
Thanks FM

I listen on line to radio 7. They serialise all sorts of things. I have a very soft spot for Wind in the Willows -apparently my mother read the book to her belly while she was pregnant with me! I did the same for my daughter.
I got my husband 2nd hand & house trained - lovely! Can't leave him tho' he wouldn't miss me much, he's very self sufficient1
oh ya, i could do that! I'll remember radio 7. i thought maybe it was something broadcast solely to your enchanted village!
i'm listening to radio 7 now, cool!
he came that way! lucky woman!
Ilove all the early comedy -like Round the horne & they do all the Agatha Christie books & lots of classics.

lbd - I've just been on their website and you are correct. Though they did do a song called The Lo4/6 Dark Road. Terrible mistake for a relative of the late Mr. Harrison to make though!
I bow my head in shame.
I also need the di4/5 and di5/12 between the transistor and the CD.
di + good **e boys

Hi Stid!
Morning stid. I will catch up with your story later in the we4/12.
you can do it, svso!
Hi Stid
CAn you help with the terrible dw's?
i can't believe you've been writing this story now for nearly two months! Amazing! and it's a wonderful story too!
Other Half's been refilling my wine glass (and his!) quite a lot this evening... blame any mistakes on that. We'll be wi4/8s before lo4/6.:( Both got eye tests later today. LOL.
I'm sure george would forgive you, jac
I'm with you Jacula, just started on a bottle of pinot noir....
svso, they aren't that bad they rhyme with di_6/24 and di 7/36
svso - The dw's are easy.dw7 - to lessen. dw8 - verb form.
although paul (mc c) might have a hissy fit...
thanks lbd. it's been fun
funny icon, abe
svso - Think of this phrase, 'When she fell out with the popular girl, all her other friends dw*****d away'.
you have a real talent for story telling Stid.
Happy Harvest Moon, everyone!

Mull of Kintyre, mince rolling in from the sea...

ke+digits at the end of your feet, transpose last two letters for the ke6
Hi Mr P
Thank you , five to go but I have to take a break for dinner.

Hi Mr. P
best of luck, svso
Hi Mr.P.
hi, mrp!
i'm off to watching the tele/ drinking wine/ eating tater tots... good night to all
night abe
MrP - Did you see that discussion earlier in the chatlog about someone wanting to know how to download Lickety's 'thing' (as they put it). The ensuing convo (with warnings not to tell YOU) were both le4/9 & hilarious.
goodnight lbdawger :)
Goodnight, abe.
goodnight Jacula
Enjoy your evening, abe.

'Night lbd.
That microwave popcorn never all 'pops', does it? And, if you get an unpopped ball by accident it breaks your bloody teeth.
Incidentally, talking to myself here no doubt, I love buttered popcorn and hate salted.

i don't have a problem with getting unpopped kernels

di8/70, Nat. Disinherited.
we8.............a period of 7 unshort days
(Cast out from the family.)

re8/50 - viewing again.

Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?

wi 6/33?
I've got 7 of them now. still working on the we and the re that means to see again. Not sure what is left.
No, it's not we**lies, Nat. 7 days + opposite of short.
the e's aren't in the right place for we newspaper word
The wi 6/33 word rhymes with dw 7/52 word bichon.
wi6..........pl of using something, like a sword
the lies on...
excellent--thanks. only 1 left now
As for the re8/50 (viewing again) word, Nat. Add the 'ing' to it.

si4/5 + lo4/6 (opposite of short).
Nat - it's the kind of glance a flirty girl might give a chap.
Thanks Jac!
si8 = not from the front or the back + opposite of short.
Well done, Nat!
You are way ahead of me deb! I only have 217 words.
i've been a it all day!
Minver - if you need clues I'm here for a little while longer.
what is that site to find words.. have been out of the loop for too long
bokinz - a-z or morewords.
can anyone clue the re 6/18 re 7/32 after the re9/66? please?
sounds familar
Sorry, a2z wordfinder.
thats the one.. thanks :)))
five to go. Anyone have the le6/18 that come before the word that means lascivious? I have Clark's partner and the vegetable that is like a long onion.
That's a funny one, debb, as it means both to rebound and to shrink back. re6/18 = re + anagram of a small earth mass surrounded by sea. The 7 is the past tense of the word.
y/w, bodkinz.
svso - le6/18 is a scar or a wound on the skin.
does umm whatsisname still post the list of 1st and 2nd letters somewhere?
great clue - thanks jac - learned a new word! (words)
ty Jac.
lickety's list bod
bodkinz - BrandyJack? Yes, he does. Lickety also does. See the links at the bottom of the site. Gosh! It IS a lo4/6 time since yu were last with us!
y/w debbinla.
I have reverse dictionary website in my favorites so when someone gives a definition as a clue I go to the reverse dictionary website. It's so really very helpful!
oi7/32?
Minver - you can also just cut & paste a straight definition into Google.
hi all
aren't the in words spanish? (not to be picky)
what is the reverse dicsionary site?
svso - oi7 = rape. oi* (greasy stuff) + plant ovule.
dictionary*
ahh yes BrandyJack that is who i was thinking of
Thought so, Bod!
Thank you Jacula again, never heard of that one. Three to go. I have never finished a grid this large. Do you know the first ol5/10? I have the margerines.
Yeah i 've not been around for a while.. RL kicked in.. work etc... ahh well.. found my way back :)
Debb - The 'in' words are British words for old-fashioned, beamed and deep-set fireplaces. They may have Spanish origins, I don't know.
aaah! i see now!
svso - 1st ol5/10 = Spanish bullfighter's cry + opposite out out.
VanTheMan the reverse dictionary website is at this link: http://www.onelook.com/reverse-diction ary.shtml
thank you, two to go. How about the ye?
hey guys, i'm new to this, could someone please tell me where you find the lists with the first 2 letters of the words and the number of letter/point value?
svso - y + long fish + opposite of out.
thank you very much, Minveryork
Hi Kate44. Well you could pay to go Pro. It's a lifetime membership and isn't much money for a lot of fun and friendship.
IT worked JAc. One to go. I just have to find it.
yw
thanks, i think i will do that
Hello Kate44!How are you doing? Welcome Babbleland where everyone becomes addicted! Good luck w/grid
thank you, i'm excited to try this. it looks like fun. and addicting
you get to put a silly pic in here too.. gotta be worth it hehehe
I've read up about becoming a member, it mentions something about a stats page, now is that Lickety's or is there another??
Otherwise, Kate44, you could click on the links on the bottom l/h side of the site. Bablblers Anonymous for BJ' (in Canada)'s list and Lickety's Babble clues for our Antipodean Babbler's clue list. Going Pro is much more fun though!
is there a way for you to give a present subscription to someone else?
debb
yanks
lose
just out of curiosity, what has been the largest puzzle in terms of number of words?
did you finish yet
Van - I don't know. You'd hve to e-mail Jamie (Dr_God) about that. You could just find out their user name and password and go PRO from there using your credit card, I guess.
lose is an understatement, chj
dangit, i wanted the yanks to win, how will i face my husband
452 in April
nAT - 500+, I think.
thanks Jacula
yowza
Got the last one myself, 295 words, a record grid for me. I give myself fireworks and I thank all for their help with the last few clues. Thank you again.
wtg svso
Anyone need a few clues in return?
re9/72??
Incidentally - a note to you new Babblers. (This is not something I have done, but it did happen to one Babbler). Never sign on when you have guests and let them know your username and password. You may well arrive anticipating a good go at the grid and find your so-called friends have already done it for you! That's not friendship! That's like tearing the last page out of the great novel you were engrossed in.
re9/72 is sowing seeds again.
Colhaad - re9/102 = marrying again.
jac, thanks for the heads up
Jacula, did that really happen to you? Are you still friends with them?
(If you hadn't got that one, Col! LOL.)
can someone clue me the last 9, I've got a place to live and a second marriage
whats the largest word score for a word so far since this started?
okay, how about the other 9? I have the other two...thanks.
WELL DONE, svso! *~*~*~*~*~*
I just reread your note. It didn't happen to you. Sorry!!!!
sowing seeds again is re8/70
brilliant thanks colhad
Bod - No idea! The re9/102 today must be a contender.
True, but my clue still holds.
there was a 105 the other day
yes, that's what I got - need the 9 -- hi all for a minute -- hectic day and still have to have supper
I think for Annexation
It sounds like going backwards.
WTG svso, I'm a little slow on the uptake tonight. Congrats!!!!!
Hi Jilli
hi, jilli!
svso, I'm too thick for that
I really thought I'd get this puzzle out, not gunna happen
hi, pida-- I love the poem trees...
colhad, I'm not even half way - no time today - just dropped in cos I miss y'all
thnx, lib
pida - No, like I said, it didn't happen to me. However, it did happen to one regular Babbler. Worst thing that happened to me Babblewise was my Other Half finding the site iwth '1 word to find' and bloody well finding it! I was savouring that last moment as I cooked his dinner. Safe to say, he's never made that mistake again. If I ask, he'll look.
the poem trees?
Hi jilli.
"I thinkthat I shal never see
a poem lovely as a tree...
how many words today. I have 102 so far and just got started.
yeah, I finished the D words! on to the last 106...
295 luck, start typing really fast.
I will never finish. Just got home after 2 days and am beat.
I think that I shall never see A billboard lovely as a tree. In fact, unless the billboards fall I'll never see a tree at all (Don't remember the writer but I suspect Ogden Nash)
very funny & true, jilli!
Joyce Kilmer, jilli.
ahhh the re/9 the hitched again one... aha hahaha.. hmm.. hehehe
good one, julli, I/ve never heard that before.
Not that one, jac!
But is does sound Ogden Nashish.
No , the parody was by Ogden NAsh. The original was by Joyce Kilmer.
that was the real one..
I think one of the best book titles I've everseen is "The Golden Trashery of Ogden Nashery" and I don't have a copy!
No the real one ends "Poems are made by fools like me but only God can make a tree."
LOL, jilli.
right, svso
can someone clue sk7/52 please??
119. Trees by JOyce Kilmer. I THINK that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose hungry mouth is prest Against the sweet earth's flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, 5 And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain. 10 Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.
Colhad - sk7/52 is an alternative way of spelling that whizzing down snow slopes on 2 bits of wood sport.
ty, svso
Now I mus stop interrupting those who are trying to finish this monster, and go looking for tomorrow's icon - Muppets, and Bex777's birthday
how about the 9/66 please?
You know, the sort of holiday you either go on to smash into a tr4/4, or break a limb or limbs.
yw libra. My wife went to JOyce Kilmer grammar school in Chicago and was forced to recite it constantly.
jilli - I already have my icon for that. My fave wild Muppet man.
oh dear -- we all said a wooord about that poem
re 9/66 is where you live.
thanks svso
good for you, jac -- I have to try to remember some names...
nice clue svso
re 9/66 sounds like doctors in training.
svso, I put the poem in my icon, so anyone could read it.
vso - Mind you, it's a word that mostly only police nd estate (real estate, as you say in US) agents use for the family home.
dw7 and dw8 please?
dw 7 has to do with diminishing.
ty Jacula
dw8 is the plural.
only dw word I can think of is dweeb
JeeWhiz - dw 7 & verb form 8 = diminish(es)
but now I got it...thanks
can anyone clue the en words, please?
I have one that means when things stop
Nat - the en words mean to twist around. en + w4/9 & plural.
en6/27 not the beginning, en7/48 how you might insert some thing, sounds like the last page and smart.
Not trying to wi** you up or anything, Nat!
hey all, got the to re 9 what ist the 3'rd one
(That was a clue!)
en6/33 is en & blowing in the ****.
en7/48 is the plural.
got that and plural sv, need one more
other 7
en* (last) and **** old owl.
re 9/102 the act of re marrying
ty svso for the ens
