jai, I already got your pun - that's what made me groan
Nice one, Douglas!
Pretty much my normal reaction to seeing the number of words in the grid...
phantom "geeser"
Just drop last letter, jai.
I did....
Hi All - if you need help, it's there.
Done! My last 3 words were forgotten past tenses. How blind can I be.
What does a geeser do?
I am sorry I subjected you to that bad pun twice, Jilli....

Don't worry, Sprite, I read tpyo very well....I am an expert at it....

I got this weird co5-6 combo as a result of a typo - I LOVE typos :)
SPRITE!!! I missed your pyros!!! Sorry, and YAY!!!
You need a poetic license to find this word...
I do, too..that's how I got the weird co word
congrats, sprite
Hehehe, I feel totally rehab'd now :)
Cogswell **** was the arch rival of Spacely Space Sprockets on the Jetsons...
jai, did you go for the 'non-original' as well when you made that typo that led to the co?
And of course my punny mind said, "That word is a description of a shy bodily function"....Groan....
LOL jai! Groan....
*pats sprite comfortingly on the back*
Yes, I satred with the first syllable, and thought, hmmm, can I add "up"?
congrats to jai and sprite, out of the room for 5 mins and look what happens!!
That helps, jilli :)
See what I mean about tpyos?
I go kiss my kids goodbye and then I will return for clues, if needed.
I know, sprite - just returning the favour
brb
pet dogs and cats should be sp6/30 and there are sp4/7 and neuter clinics
got 'em -- thanks, jai -- the shy pun did it!
So how come sp4/7er isn't in the dictionary?
so how come you can't be a sp4/7er?
that sp word is also spelled Latin-like- meaning isn't the same, but sounds the same....
Thanks, Nan, I am glad my crazy mind is good for something!
hi everyone who's arrived or spoken to me since I arrived and dived into the grid
Great minds, FranMag...

Nope, it is the one jilli said.

Refresh to see my "art"- a vlue rose pic I did in Photoshop...

ARB: the center of the Ch6/30 you mean is what makes a person think he is the center of everything.
ch+ the incredible edivle 88g+ second vowel...

I can't find the last se 4/6.
bye sprite!
I downloaded it for 19.95- not bad for such a great game...but this game is still the best in the world as far as I can see! Only Tetris beats this one for addicting, but Tetris doesn't have you guys!
Laila tov Sprite

A Bronte character is lurking in the grid...would that be a Brontesaurus?
Still laughing....So true.....
Uh, oh, another pun....
why isn't erse in the dictionary? It's in xword puzzles all the time
cuz they're too "terse" to put it there.....

Indian clarified butter...I want some naan bread to dip in the spinach dip...
lol ata!
its a real thing!
no kidding, really?
really! geeps were one of the first hybrids ever scientifically studied
Hello All
Ata can you cross ducks and chickens? You might get dickens!
lol angb!
hi miss abs!
ata, what's a shoat? it's in the grid a lot, i just never looked it up.
Hi Miss ABS
ooooh no *shudders* one dickens was enough to inflict on the world!
shoat is also sh*** x goat, but I think there must be another meaning for enable to include it
I loved dickens when I was a kid - must have had a deprived childhood I think couldn't do it now.
i just looked it up, it's a suckling pig also
but it says that shoat is also known as a geep!
ooooo well there you go!
My dad pushed dickens like the dickens but I only liked David Copperfield and the Tale of Two Cities
i learned something today!
it works the same way is liger and tigon - one is male tiger and female lion, and one is male lion and female tiger
Public Enemy sez, "Don't believe the ****!"
I have decided I do not like the bottom of this grid ... will be away for a wee while and do some more writing, and attack it a little later ... see ya all.
thanks douglas!
over halfway so I can go to bed now -- bye all!
try it without the e too douglas
From the album with possibly the greatest album title of all time, "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back"
later angb!
night jilli!
Without the e was a new one for me!
i am stuck on the ch6/30 after dairy products and before board game please clue
I don't have that one either, ursh...
ch6/30 - a nasty little flea that bites feet
MrP i thought that was a jigger flea
I have heard of a chigre but this spelling is diff.
I love the co6/33 shy cat ??
must be very different spelling! come on monkeys!
my monkey has collapsed exhausted looking for fleas
ch + vowel + opp of stop + vowel
sorry to those who don't like too much info in clues!!
No Mr p your fine, i would never of got that one x
ok fleas found
are all the 7's ch's?
ap7 and re7, both are nasty hard!! let me try and clue
Bye, bye miss American pie Drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry And good ole' boys were drinkin' whiskey and ***
whoa! weird flea spelling!
re& - re + another word for ocean + you and me
ta mr p will spend all day figuring that one out x
back again
hi mrp! hi mthree!
hi fran!
oh i got it thanks mr p . morning Fran x
re7 has the ocean and the word meaning you and me at the end
please tell me you got that with the list and didn't just know the word!
Well, that's a new word for me! I bow to your most excellent awesomeness, mrpresident...
have no bloody idea what it means!! the list is my friend!!
phew!
Winnie the Pooh likes Rabbit, because he uses nice easy words like "How about lunch?" and "Help yourself."
Two of the 7's are rather arcane words, but one of them is a nice, easy word...
be back later, hubby wants to use the computer.
the ap7 is a beauty too... take the ap4 above it... shove a consonant right in the middle and plural it.
Your hubby wants to Babble too?
if that se7 is "rather arcane", what is really arcane? *ponders*
barbaric **** verient spelng
Douglas the AP above it only has four letters!
Morning all!
They have a planet of their own, what do they need our grid for?
hi flask was not found in the dictionary LOL! I must be going backward! now trying to type conversations in the add word box!
Hi Mr P......I do that often...lol
Autobiography of a ***** (yt anothir verient splng)
Douglas am now totally bamboozled!!
Less than 2 to the 5th power words left...It was a rather famous book by Paramahansa Yogananda...
How many 7's are there? I have a ch and a re. But you are also talking about a se and a ap! The grid says there are 3
Are you bamboozled by the barbaric **** clue?
Lol.......this is one of those times that I wish I had never started this......
Yes I am!
Oh...it's a Walt Whitman reference...
Surely only Americans read Walt Whitman.
Yesterday I completed the puzzle down to the last 8....I was so proud of myself too........
down to last 8 without asking for a clue is what I mean!
Angb, I have never heard of him
I rest my case.
what happened to the easy straight-forward clues??
I've heard of him, but never read any
Walt Whitman is a big deal! Don't you know President Clinton gave Monica Lewinski a copy of "Leaves of Grass?"
I think I tried once ... can't really remember
Ok Atal....so can u help me please?
What did she give him in return Douglas?
LOL!!!
not really, Flask! I've never read any of his poetry!
I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable, I sound my barbaric **** over the roofs of the world.
Oh I can tell u that Atal....but its not in the grid...lolol
it is, in a way Flask...
I give up......I shall tackle it later!
have a sudden amusing thought that it should be a "barbaric co5/20"
if you go by sound and not just spelling... se4/5, the first one
hey all
Morning metal......can u clue me please?
No one will ever again receive a copy of "Leaves of Grass" as a gift for quite a few years because of that...
Morning chj!
I will if I can Flask... I was just making an offhand comment about what Monica gave Bill
What worries me Douglas is why the world knows that he gave her a book of poetry ...
It was in the Starr report, I think...
what worries me more is the obsession with the sex life of a politician... as long as he gets/got the job done as relates to his office, his private life (as long as he didn't harm children/animals/the helpless etc. ) shouldn't be considered
Does anyone have a clue for the sp5,20?
ayes
Ooops!....Flask strikes again!
I agree Metal.
s + a type of large cat is a p**a + sometimes vowel
Well in my opinion he was one of the nicest Presidents the US have ever had!
Thanks chj
We in NZ are pretty blase about that sort of stuff. But we have an interesting item at the moment of whether our PM's husband is gay or not, and why, if the rumour is true, he was escorted back from the US, and is the PM as well?
he could be bi... or he could be her "beard" if she is also gay, or she could be straight and willing to accept his being gay ....
and what does Mrs PM say about all that?!
People are so fast to unleash their morals on others.....
Oh ... the alternatives are endless. and I think NZ is yawning while the press gabble on (nearly used babble but I wouldn't taint the word)
Bill Clinton's only problem was getting caught!
Ata - she is saying mind you own business and keep out of the gutter!
true Flask
good for her!
Oh and blaming the scuttlebug on the other party and a fundamentalist church
good for her, since it really is just her and his business after all
You don't mess with Helen!!!!!
I need one word for fireworks. Believe it or not, it's the ae4,6. I've monkeyed it all night and came up blank. HELP?
no! go Helen!
mkl, try ghostly, etherial...
Anyway talking about national leaders ... who is going to lead the UK once the spunk Blair steps down?
Gordon Brown, apparently
WHOOPs. FIREWORKS
when you open the windows the room becomes ae**
Does anyone need a clue before I go?
yayyy mkl
well done mki!!
Yay for mkl!
Well done mkl
Thanks all.
ch 5/16?
Didn't you pay enough money Douglas?
Douglas stingy with money
Apparently not...thanks
Not saying you're stingy Douglas. I'm saying that's the clue
Three to the third power words left...
mki....ap7 please?
I have all the ch's...woo-hoo!
How many are there Douglas?
Take the ap4,5, stick a consonant behind the p, and make it plural
The loss of an initial, usually unstressed vowel, as in cute from acute.
There are 9 ch's
I want geyser
lol At, thats adaultry ;-)
OOoh 1 to find
chey
And that is not 1
I got the shy cat, I got the shy cat...the one mr president was cluing a while back...
Did you find it Flask?
no...am sorry
Good morning all. Thank goodness for a smaller grid today. I have kitchen cupboards to tackle.
that would only make it 6 letters
Any hints for the co5?
Morning Haz
hi Haz!
Take the ap4,5. Keep all of the letters, but put a consonant behind the p. Then add the second vowel and the snake letter
Good morning, Haz!
That's the best I can do. Have NO idea what the word is
Good morning Atalante - have you been good this morning?
And hello Flask and Douglas and all other greeters!
Hi Haz
Atalante, any news on the injured pup?
so far! I've been busy worrying about Hobbit! no news about injured pup, I will let you know when I hear anything, but now I think Hobbit has a bladder infection or something *sigh*
Good morning all Douglas co5/20 is a large, South American, aquatic rodent
Douglas. co5 is shy + two letters meaning something stinks
Oh dear! Phone.
It's the singular of the co6, isn't it?
Thnx mkl -
I'll remember to watch out for those the next time I'm swimming in the Amazon...
Yes Douglas
I'm back. What's Hobbit doing?
Any Lord Of The Rings fans out there? If so, go to www.bendshire.com They are building a shire type community in Bend, Oregon
weeing. a lot. she normally goes 3 times a day, totally regularly. yesterday she went abotu 5 times then wee'd 2 times on the floor in the night which is *unheard* of for her. and she's off her food - even roast chicken!
It sounds like a bladder infection. Antibiotics will sort her out. But she loves going to the vets, doesn't she?!
oh yeah! just *loves* it! actually, she's not tooo bad, we walk through the local cemetery to get down there and she gets to chase squirrels for a few minutes :)
Flask, did you find the ap7,36?
morning all :) how many today?
Well, I hope she gets sorted out quickly. Puddles of piddle are not pleasant, never mind a doleful dog.
tell me about it ... and doleful spaniels are heartrending. am going to phone vet any second for an appt
Gotta run. Night all.
ee 4/6 is anuthr varient spellling
nite mkl
And is anuthr a variant spelling also?
3:30 this afternoon. I love my vets
I suppose it's quicker to get an appointment with the vets than the doctors. People always seem surprised when I can give them an appointment for the morning clinic - provided there are spaces, that is.
Is it just me, or do you think that Esteban guy who sells guitar lessons on TV is really named Steve Schwarzinsky?
its still wonderful though being able to get an appt so quickly
i am stuck on the first re6/21 before the one that sounds like a blood group
how many today anyone?
Well, hopefully she'll get sorted out quickly and she'll be back to normal again.
133
cheers une :)
hey, marso
Good morning Uneaixoise - you're here early!
i know--going back to bed--BBL :-)
clue please re6/21
I have all the e's!
I'm not sure whether to wish you good night now!
:-D
2 to the 4th power words left!
um Haz ... people might not want to read this for icky vet stuff ... is there any brilliant and clever way to get a urine sample from a spaniel? or is it as hit or miss as it sounds??? receptionist said to *try* and get one if possible ...
I take it you've mopped up the evidence from this morning?
yes *sigh*
Then it is going to be hit and miss! As big a container as possible, watch her like a hawk and move in rapidly when she looks about to do something. She, and the neighbours, will think you've taken leave of your senses, but sure, it's all for a good cause. Good luck!
LOL I assumed that that would be the case! Just wondered if the professionals knew any better!
No, I don't think there is any special way!
*goes off to find a big container*
Morning All...glad to see a smaller grid today for time's sake.
Big as in wide and fairly flat rather than deep.
Good morning, Odin. My thoughts this morning, as well.
Mornin' Haz. They were large for a couple of days and quite frankly my brain needs the rest!
I know! I've resolved to be good today as my kitchen cupboards need some attention. I'm having a visitor staying next week, and you know how they like to inspect kitchen cupboards.
I always knew those wide and shallow Lakeland plastic boxes would come in useful one day ...
Looking for the re 6/21's
Exactly, Atalante - the very thing.
Monkeys got the second one...
re6/21 - present tense/plural of re4/5
What's the one before the 7/32...
Atalante - if it works, don't forget to let Lakeland know. It could be a selling feature......
LOL yes!!
3 to the second power words left!
I guess that means you're making progress, Douglas. You don't expect me to be able to do sums as well as find words, do you?!
Hi everyone, a much smaller grid today, thank goodness.
Ok, ok, down to 9 left...
Our sentiments exactly Pap
That's more like it! You're doing well, keep going.
hey there, odin, haven't said hi in awhile
Anyone have the second sh 5/14?
Hello to you pap...I had house guests last week and didn't get to chat much.
The second one is a tearing up sort of word
Isn't that the third one?
Sorry - I told you I can't count. Try an anagram of the torn up sh5/14
Weather here on the easy coast is excellent...82 yesyerday with a light breeze and not as humid...finally fall in South Florida.
And when I say anagram, it's just switching two letters around.
ty for that one, haz
I thought the monkeys tried that one...I think I need to fire the monkey manager...
odin, same on the west coast, it was beautiful. Perfect for year round
You're welcome, Pappou.
That would be paradise huh?
paradise, but not Florida, LOL
6 left...
True enough
And I have 66 left (11 times your figure, Douglas) but I'd better go. See you later!
My car is my office for a fair part of each day so the cooler weather will be great.
that's nice, you can give your a/c a rest
Have a sun roof but can't open it quite yet...but soon, very soon.

art inge
wurdy, which y?
thanks, will have to get dressed later
the one on the right or the one lower
wurdy yo4/9 is a middle English letter
very last y is a yo4/9, beginning of fermented milk product.

did everyone go to sleep?
yeah half way point before the kids leave for the bus!
no, I'm still here hodag. Just quiet and searching
Me too hodag
I am still here
I'm here. Just looking for my last dozen words.
i still can't get ch6/30 (2nd from bottom) - any clues
I'm still here, just struggling with my last 49 words
sorry anike-don't have it yet
got it anike-a bright state of mind
ch6/30 is a rather nasty burrowing flea, anike. Think Cuban guerilla leader Ch* *uevara then add 2 vowels. Whole word sounds like you are telling him to scram.
I guess thereare 2 ch6/30's?
Eva - Yes.
thanks jac
Good morning everyone
hooray - got it thanks Jacula
y/w Eva & anike. Hi Buttonman.
Jacula, the ch6/30 flea word is the only ch word I have left to do and I don't get the clue...could you clue me another way please?
It's ch**uevera + a Hawaiian wind [Aloha **]
heap
Buttonman - Do you know the Cuban guerilla leader's name as I clued it? If so, once you have typed ch** move up to the right and then across.
completely stumped on two g words. Probably very obvious. I have the past tense and plural of whatyou do with a horse, the birds and the indian butter and plural. What am I missing?
FIREWORKS! I've got my last word (2nd se5/16) by deduction but I still can't actually see it in the grid.:(
Evawhat is the g bird
I only have 6 left but seem to be drawing a blank when it comes to co5 & co6 as well as ge4/8, ge5/18, re6/21 immediately followed by re7/32. Can anyone help?
the ones that lay the golden eggs
nm got it
those are the two g's I'm missing too anike
Eva - ge4/8 & plural 5 (plants).
ge4/8 plant type and plural
Great joy Jacula...I am still stumped
I have fireworks. May I help anyone before I go?
brb - phone
good job Fran
Frances what are the ge plant types?
thanks jac & frances!
avens - if that helps. It sounds a bit like you're dithering
You're welcome Eva
Got the ge's - in Australia we don't have an "e" in those words
Frances what are the ge plant types?
anike Nice one. The sort of tree you get stuck up!

I hate to ask for help on such a short word! Thanks, Frances and anike. Just seen it!
You're welcome bichon
I feel really stupid now.
join the club :-)
We've all been there hydra
still the last 2 co words if anyone can help
It's a large animal that lives by rivers. Farmed for its fur, then it escaped and there are lots killing our British otters!
hydra do they live in the US?
anike - last 2 co words sre animals that look like giant guinea pigs.
anike co5/20 is a large, South American, aquatic rodent + plural
Think of a three letter word for shy, then the sound you make when you smell a bad stink and hold your nose! (spelt differently)
hmm... that would be capybara, but that's not a co. Must be a different word for the giant south american aquatic rodent in Britain.
Anike - actually, the co's look like giant rats (aquatic beaver is another name for them). The capybara is the giant guinea pig. Sorry about that! Shouldn't try to clue and work at same time.:(
good clue hydra. Hello all
Good clue, hydra!
Thanks, lynxx. I don't think I'm good at clueing.
Hi lynxxx
you farm the COs in Britain? I didn't know that. For their fur?
They did back in the 70's. Like mink.
ok I'm dumb but have never heard of them but hydra's clue helped thanks
You are doing a great job tonite Hydra
Hi
Yes, and like mink (and grey squirrels) it proved to be a big mistake!
anike, they're called nutria in North America
So I was told, anyway! People wore beaver coats. I had a bearskin coat back in the 60s.
that's what I was wondering inge-since they sounded like nutria.
Kurker here..but I'm stumped..can anyone help me with the first se..4 letters it's my last word!!
Hi Charlies (mum?)
good morning all!
charlismomuk - a short word for a short length of time.
Se4/5 abr for part of a minute
lynxx - In certain parts of UK we, like the Americans, say 'Mom' as well as 'Mum'.
Thanks Inge. My husband is anxious for his dinner so I must find the last 2 words - the 1st re6/21 and the re7/32
anike - re6 & verb form 7 - sounds like to stitch again. re* + French for water.
anike sounds like you're doing your needlework again with a French twist and plural
Hi Wolvie!
secs
Oops sorry
Thats the one!!!\
Sorry, anike, the 7 is plural not verb form. (Same spelling though.)
Jacula..THANKS..doh I can't believe I didn't see that! I rarely finish Babble but am off sick with a virus ...fireworks are very cheering:)
lynnxx. At least you didn't type s - e - x. LOL.
y/w charliesmomuk. Congrats! Hope you feel well again soon.
Great stuff!! have finished now. Thanks Frances & jacula. Goodnight
I can only blame the garlic pizza - I am starving!
Goodnight anike.
You're welcome anike. Bye
Lynxxx - The air's still a bit garlicky here from our meal last night. I made bacon & mushroom tagliatelli with garlic baguettes.
Mmmmmm Yummy
bye anike
Speaking of cooking - I need to go and do some! (Along with ironing, mending & gardening.)
I think I must be one of the few who hates garlic and my son, who is a wonderful cook uses it in everything.
Lynxxx - It was yummy!:)
bye jac
Bye Jac - see you tomorrow
Frances - I like garlic but it doesn't like me. It lowers blood pressure and, since I have naturally low b/p, I have to be careful how much of it I ingest.
Anyway, I'd better get some of these jobs done. See you all tomorrow.
Anne, are you lurking?
I know that it does have super properties but I cannot make myself eat it. Son found a garlic resteraunt in SFO a couple of years ago and he thought he'd died and gone to heaven!!!
Even had garlic icecream!!!!!
Bye Jac
eva-is that what i'm doing?
yes indeed it is. Been stuck at 20 left for a while. Want to swap words?
why don't you get odourless / tasteless garlic capsules so you'll get the nice super properties?
i'll give you sp***
Ata I do that - garlic pearls. just cannot eat the real thing. Hate the taste and the smell.
hey eva...I have 48 left...I'll play the trade game with you
hi wurdy
hey wolvie how are you
doing well thanks - you?
I'm like your son - I could eat garlic with everything!
Which one do you mean? Ihave sp5/14, sp5/12. One is a measure of motion and the other a weird weapon

lady -- I wasn't meaning that mean teachers are acceptable at higher grades, but older students sometimes perceive their teachers as being mean when they are just doing their jobs ---- little kids don't usually perceive meanness that isn't there.

KL, its the same for us - 3 b'days in less than 6 weeks
co 5 starts out like a flirt
9/26, 10/13 and 10/29
so, just over a month actually
co 5 ends like the letters a child says when something smells bad.
co 6 is plural
totally clueless on this one
starts with flirtatiuos and then ends in an anagram of the opposite of down
Still need help. CO 5 starts with 3 letters like what a flirt is, ends with two letters that you say when something smells bad.
oh good grief - lilke i'm ever gonna use that word in a sentence !!!!!
Bye folks. Have fun with today's grid ... doesn't take long.
"pardon me, do you have any spare co***?"

Yippee Jill
I just got back with the kids -- they have half days, so I let them choose some books at the book fair.
YAY Jill!
Well done jillibus
congrats jillibus. Could you tell me the last se 4/6?
Good for you, Stid. Keep those boys reading.
se4/6 rhymes with pe4/7, the things you use in cribbage
TY Jill
Our problem is getting them to do anything _else_! LOL It's fun to watch them enjoy books as much as we do.
thanks so much jillibus, now I too have fireworks and can start dinner
YAY bichon!
YAY bichon!
YAY bicon!!!
*bichon
I just updated my wish list of books on Amazon, and I don't know how I will ever catch up!
Whoooooeee bichon
stid - I was so impressed at Hetty's when they were quietly playing chess - great boys, great mom
Have you read the Dante Club?
I won't catch up. I have two stacks of "leisure" reading and another of garden-related reading. I read the garden books when I have time, and the other books get maybe 15 mins of attention before I go to sleep...
anybody need clues before I go to lunch?
And I just finished a Jodi Picoult book.
I love your icon, Jill -- very cool!
Go get lunch Jill!
thanks, stid
OK, scrab! back soonish
I would love to read more books... I figure when the kids are gone I will have time in the evenings. For now, by the time they are in bed, I am wiped out and good only for babbling and knitting.

enjoy your lunch jillibus
Actually, feeling a bit migrainish suddenly. going to go take my medicine and lie down. Back later...

well done, msree!
yay msree
clue for the yo5/18 please?
thank you Biltong and Scrabbler
I'm not great with clues. Here goes: the yo 6,30 is the plural of the 5 and it is yo + the ge 4,6
Was that too much info?
7 to go and in need of help please ap 7/36
Thanks, msree. No, was nice and easy, but not overdone!
first 3 letters of a plant pest + last 4 letters of ye 5,14
ap + opp of shes+ two letter pl
ooh, bubba that's a pretty icon. Do you have any info on it?
ty msree
It is called the "cross of palanque" pre-columbian art
second ch 6/30 and second ch 5/14 please :)
yw sapphie
bubba, I can't tell, is it fabric or a painting or a carving?
ch5/14 think a board game
If I'm not mistaken, it was found in a Mayan tomb, well outdates the arrival of Europeans in Mexico and South America
ty biltong
second ch 6/30 has the same 1st 3 letters as all the chs + the 1st 3 letters of "and so it ***s"
ch6/30 ch + self + second vowel. It's a type of flea.
much better clue Biltong
help with ya5/18 please?
plural of the ya4/8
ya+ opp of down, pl
Nothing wrong with yours msree.
add S to ya4 (ya + opp of down)
Thanks, bubba and Scrabbler. Sure I tried that a dozen times!
Those 2 ya's were in the grid Saturday or Sunday
ty biltong and msree
yw, sapphie1
yw
Sunday's was a monster of a grid, so I don't really remember. I didn't get to finish.
those ya's make me think of Robin Williams and "The Dead Poet's Society"
The scene where he pulls a poem out of Ethan Hawk's character.
second 4/6 he please...fed up of monkeying for it
I still haven't gotten the ch 5 that's the type of flea. Any help please?
Have never watched that movie msree
he4,6--to listen to or obey someone
that is the ch6 htat is the flea thing
It's pretty good if you get a chance, Biltong. Nothing to specifically go out and rent. But if it happens to be on.
msilver, try ch +vowel +consonant plus two vowels
argh...looking at wrong h even though i've got em all from that one..ty scrabbler

Of course. :)
I am sure my son has it amongst his huge collection of movies. I will find out, thanks msree
It is a good movie, but very sad.
yw. I'm a big fan of Robin Williams.
Hi can I have a clue for the last re6?

oh RV is hilarious!
Haven't caught that one yet, but it looked funny.
my mother loved it! she's the reason the O?H bought it
first re 6/21 and re 7/32 please
I have only one of the 15 E's. Is anyone else struggling with those?

Do you want some random clues Scrabbler?
ty ty ty bubba ...****FIREWORKS****
all the ec's start with the same 3 letters
congrats sapphie
sound reflected ec4,6
Well done sapphie1!!
I only have the ey4,6 (visual organs), so sure I 'd like some clues
cogs
yay sapphie
yay sapphie
ec - when you hear yourself over and over
I got the reverberation ec4,6--duh
ee4/6 variant spelling of synonym of weird
Ok I am just not seeing it. I do not get how I can make a plural out of the re4/6 before the re 6/21???
lara - two letters
Scrabbler, all the ec's start with the same 3 letters
When you saw something you liked, you ey4/7 it
add the 2nd vowel then snake
like the plural of fox
TY---I am just not "seeing" words today.
Srabbler, the 1st 4 ey's are variants on what you have; the last two Jane Ey** and plural
the ec4/6 that you have, change the vowel
Alright I guess I need to take a break cause putting the 2 letters that I would use to make foz pural on the end of the re4 that ends in s is just not working..
foxES?
lol, Lara
right I have tried to enter it 4 times and it says it is not a word
Lara you are talking about the 2nd re6/21, right?
it may be our problem - are you asking for the first re 6/21?
that pl is for the re4,5 after the re7,32
no I am talking about the one before that
crickey!
Now I'm confused!
I thought I was really loosing it there for a minute cause I was doing what you said and it was not working
I need a break, and I have a yard full of leaves. BBL
re6,21 you eat in a ***taraunt + b*** geste, then pl for the 7
tI am looking for the re6 before the 7
Bye, Scrabbler
Thanks for the fun guys, have to go get ready for dinner.

hi everyone, beautiful morning here
most are not words i use in every day or any day conversation!!
My last word before pyrotechnics was the 2nd se5/16. (An oozing kind of word.) Even when I deduced it I couldn't see it in the grid. Then I realised I was going down instead of up for the last letter.
YAY grannyg!
dashing off to look for oozing word!
Hi Beast. Dark night here! 19 after midnight to be precise.
Well done, grannyG!*~*~*~*~

it's for the middle of the US BEast-- Chicago time
Babble time is Central USA time--like Chicago.
ap7, ah Enomis, it's not an easy one. It means ' The loss of an initial, usually unstressed vowel, as in cute from acute.' or 'a release from'.
cool thanks
babble time is set in babblonian!
How can I clue ap7? Erm...

anyone have a good recipe for chicken breasts - fast and easy?
enomis - 2nd sp5/14 is fast. What 'rate' do you drive your car at?
NM found it with the 10 sec rule LOL
i might as well cook dinner since it would seem that my brain is on shut down mode lol
ty jacula - guess I was not fast enough LOL
sp6/24 after that word is a brand of swimming trunks or the meter that records the rate you drive your car at. The sp6/30 after that was the name of one of my tortoises - it also means pretty fast.
can i have a clue?\
aknitter can you clue the last yo?
chicken breasts, chop em up, brown in oil with onions, garlic and peppers add a little butter at the end toss with cooked pasta, black olives and sun dried tomatoes babbz -- 20 minutes tops
I am going to be going in and out because I feel this urge to learn and do som HTML at the same time.
no enomis but google this the letter used in the writing of Middle English to represent a palatal fricative, as in ung
that sounds great. i'm missing the olives and sun dried tomatoes, but i could do something with peppers and onions and pasta and garlic & olive oil.
the last Y word "was used in Middle English and Middle Scots, representing y (/j/) and various velar phonemes"
husband will plotz if he sees dinner on the table before 8PM, LOL
sun dried tomatoes and olives are a kitchen staple in my house
okay, head starting to be strange again. heading out for the day and see you-all tomorrow. thanks again for the help!
plotz????
is that good or bad
babbz - we had mushroom & bacon tagliatelli the night before last, with a green salad and garlic baguettes.
normally here too knitter - but just got back from an escape girlfriends weekend in Florida and we have nuttin in the house right now!
The recipe for the tagliatelli is easy.
wow aknitter - i don't even understand the definition LOL
what is tagliatelli?
yoces
stidmama - I think you're brave for even trying to look at a pc monitor with a migraine. Hope you feel much better later.x
don't like shrooms but bacon and tagliatelli with a few other things yum
babbz - tagliatelli is long, flat strips of pasta woven round into little nests.
ooh sorry about your migraine stid - that's no fun. Dim the lights and get some shut eye.
6 to go... can I have the last sp4/6 please
Great idea babbz!
aknitter - you could use courgettes instead to bulk it out.
ooh hi jacula! never heard of it but anything with the word pasta in it sounds good to me!
babbz - go onto a pasta website and see how many different kinds there are.
See Ya'll later
well, i'm off too - thanks for the smiles and have a good evening!
courgettes? is that like a british zucchini?
Enomis - it sounds like 'to vomit' but is not spelled the normal way. sp + 2 vowels.
aknitter - Yes, Baby marrows.
marrows? please speak english LOL
Fireworks today!!!
Gosh! Until I started talking to people from all around the world on the intrnet (but, most especially to those in US, who are supposed to speak the same language as we in UK), I never realised how different our languages are (despite being an avid studier of languages). That's NOT a criticism of US English, just an observation.
Yeah LUCKY!
Well done Lucky!
I'm signing off. Matt, take care of your Mom!
thanks jacula and scrabbler it has been long since.... and now I need my beautysleep
'Bye Scrabbler. See you again.
I will! See ya tomorrow!
Bye Lucky!
jac we even spell words differently realize not realise surprize surprise weird isn't it
I need to get off now! Bye!
thanks all I´m hitting the sack see you all tomorrow!... bye stid
Despite what would semm like numerous causes for conflict or misunderstanding re language the UK and US are still allies. LOL.
*seem
last sp 5/20 and ye 5/14 please???
i find it rather enjoyable jac
ye 5 is plural of the affirmative word
aknitter - What I had trouble coming to terms with was when my relatives who had emigrated to Canada some 20-odd years ago came back home and seemed to have 'forgotten' that faucets are taps, the trunk is the boot of the car and many other things. I felt upset that they (my aunt & uncle) were brought up here and seemed to have totally forgotten their native language!
I am happy to embrace understanding all versions and extensions of English, but I don't like people forgetting their root language.
Maybe it's just me!
FIREWORKS *************************** merci!!!
Well done Enomis!*~*~*~*
i love the way you UK flok phrase things, sounds so cool. my son has an english friend, i love listening to him
millions of thanks to you Jacula - could not have done it without you!
English is a great language, aknitter, in that it grows and changes constantly and embraces parts of many languages.
well kid wants the computer so i must be off. will return later to finish. night jac -- you should be in bed bhy then
Enomis - You've got me blushing!
bye aknitter
*Slips into little black dress and prepares speech. Hopes box of tissues is to hand in case she ends up doing a gwynedd paltrow.* ROFLOL
:ove youir mother tongue, whatever version. Think of the poor Germans where 25 of the most frequetnly used words are English words.
yeah Jacula oououououou
sorry about the misspellings. Just read that in the latest German news magazine
They are, Inge? There is German influence in English words, also. vershundurchtechnic or whatever. LOL
can I get a clue for co5/20 please
yes, but German has perfectly good words for what the young people use English words for
verschprung... bugger! I'll check the spelling of that on Google. LOL.
co + shy + ** on the door not push
shorty - co5.20 & pl.6 is a giant rat.
and plural
hey can i please have an easy clue

*FIREWORKS!!*
there was a bunch of clues for co words a minute ago

there is also co + le** of pants
Well done Ankh!*~*~*~*
bravo Ankh. Does your hamster have a platic ball? Does he roll in it?
inge - I haven't found the proper spelling for my German technology word yet but I did find this word:Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft skapitaenskajuetenklinenputzergehilfe
i dont get it
What the heck does it mean??
I need to go walk my dog - any clues before I leave?
Well, *I* am this hamster, so it's "she" -- but both of my real life hamsters were male. And yes, they had balls. So to speak. :) Ty, Jac!
:S
Hi, Enomis. What kinda dog?
No German would be able to say taht word off the cuff. It exists only in writing to impress Anglosaxon students of the language
inge - whatever it means, it'd be a hell of a Babble score!
*agrees with Inge*
Jac it means Danube steam shipping company
german shepherd mixed with husky
Verstehendurchtechnic, is that it, Jac?
Sure would be. Hey Ankh, I got one of thiose balls for my hamster and put him in it while I cleaned the cage. Daytime! He just stayed sitting in the ball trying to keep his balance even when I tried to roll the ball
Nice, Enomis -- hope you live north enough to keep the furry beast happy!
A bit like the Welsh station then: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwl lllantysiliogogogoch
Inge, you have to be patient. Also, wait until twilight the first few times, or let him start off under a table.
Translation for the station name is: St. Mary's Church in the hollow of the White Hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the church of St. Tysilio near the Red Cave.
Jacula, do you speak Welsh?
Thanks Ankh, I will try that.
ank - in her heart she is a poodle and she loves the indoors as she is 14 now>>>
Sheesh, I'd call it Llanfair and be done. Ah, yes, a lap huskherd, a famous breed, Enomis!
inge - Yes, after a fashion. And, yes, I can say the name of that railway station. Though most folks, even in Wales call it LlanfairPG.
Jacula, does "pimble" mean anything in Welsh?
Easier to think of huskherd that Germberian, Enomis.
You see northern Michigan had a lot of Welsh immigrants around 1840 and after. They mined copper and iron ore on the Kewenaw Penninsula.
LOL I agree
Ankh - There is more than one Llanfair in Wales, so that would be confusing.
No umph?
*is proud of her fireworks because it's the first time she did it All By Herself (with Lickety and MoreWords)*
nope webs
shame
never tried morewords...
*pictures Enomis' Germberian growling at itself in two languages*
Ankh - pimble is 'pebble'.
change the last letter to plural webs
AHA! So it IS a Welsh word! Thank you. Tell me, are there many Welshmen named Stanley? It's not a common name there, is it?
Ankh, that' s how I usually do the grid. I try to find at least 50% without any aids or clues. Getting better at it
ank that is asking too much of my old diog!
*dog
I can usually make it halfway, but this is the first time I ever tried to go all the way. Er, so to speak, Inge.
yeah, I got it. Liked umph better tho!
ank... language!
*giggles at Enomis* Hmm... Germberian, huskherd, Sibershep... or Germsky, but that sounds awful... or Germusky...or... or just "Enomisdog."
Ankh - I don't know any Welsh men named Stanley but that doesn't mean there aren't any.
our Governess is debating to save her job. Better go and listen.
well I am going now - one last clue anyone?
Thank you, Jac. My Dear One's family insists they have Welsh background... I've gone back many generations and not found any Welsh people for them.
What is the female version of governor called???
Bye, Enom, thanks for the chat, say hi to the Sibershep for me.
Well, um, Governor, cuz Governess means something so different.
indeed I will ank bye!
They address her as "Governor", so I guess taht is correct.
*poof*
Ankh - The name Stanley is and Old English name that means 'stony meadow'. It's quite possible that your Dear One's ancestor was a drover who went over from Shropshire or Herefordshire or came from the North from stony meadows to Wales. Or even settled in a stoney place in Wales. I wouldn't disregard their claims yet.
finished! with the se4 lily!
The name may even have been reiterated in Wales, if Dear One's ancestor settled in a stoney place. His first name already mean that, and then he was appended 'pebble' (which means he may have settled near the shore). The Welsh give names in a far more descriptive way than you may imagine.
Having said that, look at the names of some of Charlemange's relatives! LOL.
Aha, Jac, that's really helpful.
Ankh - Happy to help.
Well done hARP!*~*~*~*
I don't have much call for Welsh translations, but when I need one, I'll know where to ask! Thanks again.
YAY Jane!
aNKH - Call on me anytime. You have fired my imagination now. I can see young Stanley, tired from driving his cattle many long miles... he meets a comely young Welsh lass and romance ensues on the beach, under a silver sunset (or one of those dramatic orange and purple and black ones), depends what time of year it was. Anyway, they fall in love, settle down and have 4 kids... LOL.
Well done, Harp!*~*~*~
Oh dear! It's all gone quiet. I guess my short story time doesn't work like stidmama's? LOL
Hi everyone! : ) hi jacs
Hi TO.
I was just letting my imagination run riot re one of Ankh's Dear One's ancestors.
i see!
Incidentally, TO, Roger Daltrey, sexy guy from my youth, popped up on TV in 80s advertising American ACCESS credit cards. Last heard of, he was running a trout farm. My daughter spotted him about 2 years ago on (what she did not realise were old videos from 70s) and said how sexy he was. Me and her Dad laughed.
jac my daaahhhhhling, i understand you want this joint livened up.
But he was sexy back in 70s! Phwoaar!

i think i can help you with that situation!

His single, 'Giving It All Away' was the theme song for me and her Dad's relationship when it began, as was Donovan's 'I Like You'. We're still friends now about 11 years after the very long relationship split up/
what? who?
huh?
Roger Daltrey & Pete Townshend were on a late night show a couple of weeks ago here...
Nut - I was just getting carried away re Ankh's ancestor's name. I can't help it if I have a vivid imagination! *smiles innocently*

See me! Feel me! Touch me! (Lyrics from Tommy - The Teen Rock Opera.)

*patiently waits for a conversation she will understand*
lol, TO!
To- I was just singing! *Looks around with innocent expression.*

ganging is such a 'dirty' word

owl, you take her left, i'll take her right, together we should be able to get the muzzle on her.
ready, set...

* tackles jac to the ground*
Kate - definition of ap7 is:The loss of an initial, usually unstressed vowel, as in cute from acute. It comes from the Greek for 'a release from'.
muzzle her owl!
EEK! Tied down now by a nut and and owl and wondering what she has said/done??

hi, everyone. I'm planning a new feature for the resource pages. Babblets (those odd little words that show up in our grids all the time) will be added. I need your help making a list of them; see my post on BA/General/Wanted: Your Babblets...
phan - that's the best clue I've seen for that word all day!
takes a bow and humbly says thank you
nice phan
Angelsong - yess, I saw that on BabAnon earlier. Does that include the Sicilian volcano?
how about toea and aero?
it includes *any* babblets Jac :)
put them on BA, please. Easier to gather them from there than from the Babble chat...
I think, phandmd, that the 'problem' with most of us when we arrive here, is that we have become tired of all the usual cryptic clues for crosswords. But we still can't help being cryptic when we clue....:(
But being different cryptic is different to normal cryptic. LOL.
Hi Angelsong, and everyone... I think your idea is great! I will happily contribute some of my favorite babblets! This game has taught me a bunch!
But, having said that, many clues get through!
gee is there a game in here somewhere? i have been on over 40 minutes and have yet to enter a word...

dr - did you get my clue? Did it make any sense?
Well, sometimes when I come here and beg for hints, I feel like I'm coasting. Working with Lickety is a boost I don't feel guilty about.
Hi all. down to 7. the two ge's after the fowl?
ankh - all is fair
Jill - I am still trying to figure it out
Working with A2Z or MOreWords doesn't bother me a bit either. Somne like to be "listless" but get everything from clues given by others. To each his own!!! It's fun however it's done.
I got it Jill
thanks
Oh geed, dr!!!
yay dr!!!!

Little Silver (11-years-old) has been playing Babble tonight. She's actually pretty good. She once got a 60 point word...8 letters!
Yeah, but gosh, Jilli, the two weeks I've been here, there are days when y'all have had to practically reach through the CRT screen and type the words for me!
yay little miss silver!
Ren - lol!!!

secret hint to newbies like me -- print out the 5 pages of A2Z's four-letter words, and the 13 pages of the 5-letter words. *glancing sideways for frowns*

hi msilver! need any clues? I finished earlier, with a lot of help from my friends!

thanks ren. I can't remember if you play an instrument? I used to play piano and guitar, can't really say I do any more!
