Well yeah - that's true. Gross! Makes you wonder ... no ... we won't go there.

Yuck
Well at least today I am finding a few 6 letter words - better than yesterday

k
phantom: unfed
but what they tried to do to zorro is there!
cheers fran
:-)
There's a lu 4/5 that's goes with the ca 6 we were doiing about the kh 4 yesterday!
heh heh, got that one angb!
Thought you might Fran!
of course you can actually say carnal today, it's not in the grid! :-)
Life is confusing Fran - safer not!
true angb
OPh my goodness - I have been trying to get at least half of the 7 n words on the top row. Just now checked and found there is only 1 - wasted 15 minutes LOL
i have 7 out of 8 Ks, does anyone want to compare and try to find the last one?
how funny ang! i do that all the time though.
Gee fran - I only have 3 so I will keep quiet. all 4/8s
okay, let me know if you want clues for what i have.
yay! found all the Ks!
There may be someone else here lurking ... maybe ... but they sure are quiet
they're all 4 letters
deep in the grid i'm sure.
I was here but deep in the grid
hey angb, i've been meaning to tell you a story.
Only (just checking the grid) fashing you metal
Yes fran ...
my husband did a wedding last year and a few of the guests came from NZ for the wedding
they wanted to hear some "kiwi" bands (their words) and all we had was crowded house!
Now ... Terry my partner and I were talking about that just the other day. How many Maori felt at home in Hawaii.
do you know of any other groups that may have crossed the waters?
Crowded House is not too bad.
actually, everyone came from out of state, the couple was living in the mainland.
hey everyone
Not many Fran ... they then call themselves Australian bands!
Crowded House and their earlier name Split Enz are the biggest
i see, so they usually go to australia first?
oh, i like both incarnations.
'night all... I have to be up early (about the time I usually go to bed) so it's time for me to grab the cat and the boyfriend and head off to bed. Happy Babbling
But how parochial - fancy wanting NZ bands in the USA - dreamers! Yes, NZ bands make it in Aus.
night ml!
Nite metal. Where does the cat sleep?
the way they asked my husband was, "you got any kiwi music?"
Yes well, they must have liked your beer!
nite metal
anyway, was just interested to see if there was a big group we were missing.
Look our stations are full of US music ... we had to put quotas on the local stuff
aits
If they were Maori you should always play 10 guitars - a local favourite.
mine
amine
uhoh -- sorry
Of course a national hero (I think he is yuck) spent many years singing in Hawaii - John Rowles. Gross
i don't think any of them were Maori. all "haoles"
Jilli I've got those.
In Maori terms, and in general usage we call them pakehas
aw shucks
Haoles - that's been in the grid heaps!
thanks angb, i'll look up those later in case we do another "kiwi" wedding
Mind you if you were talking to the large PI contingent here - there are more Cook Islanders in NZ than in the Cook Islands supposedly - pakehas are palangis
bedtime -- bye all!
that's interesting.
night jilli!
pakeha is a valid babble word
not palangi though
back again, night jilli, didn't realize daughter in law was also still up! talking to relatives in Philippines where it's mid day
i think you just missed jilli flosey
We are definitely on a K streak. Morning dear gang!
catch her tomorrow
Dave Dobbyn, the Dudes, but hey I'm over the hill ...
hi sprite! have no fear, if you get stuck i've got them all.
you'd be surprised angb, the oldies are much more reliable as reception music.
Fran, you might be my saviour then! I am getting better in Ks with an H attached, but this one seems limited to A and O :(
Dave Dobbyn is a cert then
well they're all 4 letter words so a little easier to find today, i bet your monkey has no problem
My monkey cannot find the K on the keyboard, it seems, lol. But thanks for that tip!
Although a current fav is Bic Runga - but a bit low key. There is some lovely partially ethnic stuff coming out like Anika Moa ... but its hardly reception stuff.
another tip, they're all KAs
Fran, you're the best. Now I will find them for sure.
Now I'm sounding parochial. We claim the Crowe actor - but he was only born here. Poor guy is an Aussie in Aus, then claims to be a kiwi when he is in NZ
anything to be popular wherever he goes
Got them. Thanks again, Fran!
yw sprite!
what is a kiwi, except a fruit and a bird?
someone from new zealand
Ah, ok, thanks :) Learn something new here every day.
Now this kiwi fruit thing. Originally called a Chinese gooseberry until us NZers changed its name and marketed it to the world. Yowie we have made our mark!
i'll be back later, time to get baby to sleep
Oh and Sir Ed was the first to climb Mt Everest
See ya Fran
later Fran, give baby a little kiss from me
So you are a kiwi too, Angb?
or is it a derogative term?
Yep ... I don't know of any others on the site.
Plenty of Australians
Kiwis is fine. It's the name we use for ourselves
I don't know anything of New Zealand, only what friends of me told when they had been there: that it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
So we are told - and we are very friendly. Many Dutch and Germans come here for holidays. In fact there is a sizable Dutch community in NZ
good morning everyone:)
Hi jean
I must admit I would never go on holiday to meet other Dutch, lol. But I would really really love to visit your country and see the great nature there.
and every Kiwi I have ever met has been a really great person. they have a wicked sense of humour. and yes, they are really friendly.
I love a wicked sense of humour.
Thanks lynxxx. It is a natural country - there b... all else to do but.
And of course we love our fellow SH Australians unless they are on the cricket pitch, rugby field ....
the needleholders are back
and phantom: mastiff
lots of Kiwis in Australia too Sprite - out of the group I work with 2 out of 20 are from NZ. Lots of fun mocking each others accents. Strine is very nasalls whereas NZ's can't say "i" - they say "u" as in "chups" instead of "chips"
Sounds like fin, lynxxx!
No you have it wrong lynxxx. Aussies say cheeps we say chips LOL
As I was about to say ... Aussies have a great sense of humour too.
True true .... I cringe when they repeat what I say!
argh, okay, the hunger is valid, but the womanlike is a phantom!
I am trying to find u words. I think I will leave them believing that they are long un words.
Rugby AngB
I have two short un words that are not un in the not sense
Are you trying to stir a Kiwi lynxxx or was that a clue
clue
OK I got it ... although an Aussie who knew that type of rugby - thought you all got into that Aussie Rules
I am as much into football as rugby - which isn't saying much!
There is one un word - ma 4/9
TY Ang
ah, the at the end of the ball word!
lynxxx I was brought up in a soccer household - but watched rugby on a huge screen one day - got quite excited about close up pictures of the scrum - lu 4/5. Sad case really
thanks
T7/28 is a compound
so everything was in mi6.24 detail then Ang
Fire works!!!!
Oh, and T7/36 - I won't wave back!
Hooray for Jaia!!!!!!!!!
wtg jai!
congratulations jaianniah
Yes, and the backs danced like they were doing a mi 6.24 ... Those were the days of the great John Gallagher

Hi Jai and well done

179 Edonia
morning Edonia and MVA
morning MVA
TY Ang - I knew there was another word there
Hi MVA
Morning all
thank you
Hi Edonia
hi angb
hello MVA Jean & Edonia
hi lynxxx
I really need to go pro here too all caught up on sudoku
This puzzle isn't too bad if you use logic- Lickety's point values are very helpful in finding words because of the c, m, k, etc- just a hint- also, a LOT of words build backwards...
is the sudoku bad today?
no real easy
i have no hope if logic is needed!!
lol MVA
a quick point sprite
LOL!
I would agree here MVA - it's Saturday nite here - and ...
wow, found the 7s without hints, that's a first.
lol
I've got 3 sprite - may have to beg later
good for you sprite
However, there are a few "clinkers"- like as 5/18- query a Japanese fish???
anyone remember rep. wilbur mills and fannie foxe, 'the argentinian bombshell'?
3 of the 7s are perfectly normal words, one is a biological term.
Wouldn't you know it - I am missing one of the normal words LOL
you are a true babbler, Angb! lol
I scare myself. I am working through each of the boxes - I insist I get at least half of the words ... and then I panic!
LMAO... sounds pretty neurotic... almost familiar!
all i have are 4.5 and 6's :(
Join the rest of us ... No I joke. If you ever want a clue Edonia just ask. We all share around here
thanks angb
Thanks sprite ... I keep on saying I am going to do this sensibly and go to the list when it's available. But ...
The way to play babble must fit our personalities, or we won't be able to keep on doing it, Angb! ;)
Too true sprite
I never plan, I just jump in and type every word that jumps out to me until none does anymore. Then I start looking at the tiles, see if I can grey out a few more. Then I check the chat posts... lots of clues there always. After that... blood, sweat and tears!
isn't that the only way sprite?!
Good Morning!
good morning Kateq
hi kateq
I suppose everyone is different. There are others who just wait for the list ... and I can see why ... still looking for that elusive word so I can go on to the next box
Hi Kate
lol MVA, for us it is, I think. Others start at the top of the bottom and work through the alphabet in a structured manner
hi Kateq
before beginning, I generally sacrifice a candy wrapper to the word gods, wait for clues and tehn beg
That sounds as a very good approach, Purl!
Good strategy Purloined
i think i'll try that purloined!
where's my candy!
would give me an excuse to eat a candy too...
sudden silence reveals lots of babblers sacrificing candy wrappers
lol sprite cannot find any here
Lol - only trying to find the next i word. Sacrificing my next glass of wine.
*hands jean a leftover wrapper from yesterday*
your most kind sprite thank you:)
there's one strange i word (strange for me anyway). i6/21, a bit like what one must use if they are diabetic, but drop a consonant.
(if that helps, I will take that glass of wine, lol)
That was the one I was looking for sprite - now I can move to the a next to it!
tty sprite, you may have my glass!
The wine is yours
i'm passing one over too sprite
thanx sprite good clue
Don't give her too much! She won't be able to clue
I'll keep it in a s4 place till tonight and will enjoy it then ;)
have two glasses, Sprite!
*hips*
so how come there are 358 words to find all of a sudden?
got to go, bbl, lol sprite!
rofl
LOL sprite - better find some candy instead
bye MVA!
bye MVA
See ya MVA
how many i words?
4, Edonia
thank you sprite
Edonia - do you know about Lickety's list?
5?
5 indeed
Forgot the other tile, lol
can i stiill use it even if not pro?
Yuck I found a rude an 4/5 word.
Lickety is for everybody!
LOL Angb
yes, Edonia
Yes Edonia. Lickety's Babble Clues down the bottom of the page
that's not rude, Angb. What would we be without one?
Cool thanks everyone
lol angb didnt see that one
Yes ... but everyone knew what I was talking about!
colonoscopies would be quite more difficult
Oh no - never in a grid please!
I know something else that would be much more difficult too. If not impossible *shudder*
Wouldn't that be a great babble word, lol Purl
happy weekend to all....on holiday for the next week....hurrah lots of babbling!!!
Hi sapphie
I likely would need to sacrifice two candy wrappers
hi sapphie! Sounds like paradise ;)
hello sapphie
Maybe the whole bag Purl
hi jean
And think of what the clues would be like... argh!
Giggle!
yup sprite...but might have to do some decorating, and having my bro and his kids over...but pretty near paradise
Awwww... such a sweet icon, sapphie!
ty sprite :)
It's 9pm here. Should go and cook Terry his dinner, and put kids to bed. Otherwise they will all be grumpy. Had a great time ... maybe see ya later all.
Bye Angb, have fun!
bye angb
bye
Must be off for a bit, see you guys later :)
bye sprite
any clues for the ai4
sounds like ...sevens, ******, nines
thank you lynxxx
ty lynxxx
Hey folks. Hawareya? 40 to go, and I only have one 7. Clues fo the am7?
here is a an for you - dogs and cats and horses are these - drop he last letter and plural as well
ty lynxxx
am7 is to do with new borns (or pre new born) sorry I haven't worked it out yet
em7,32?
am7 - relating to the fluid surrounding foetus in the womb, ends in a vowel
must away, bbl have a good day everybody:)
Good morning/evening by the way!
bye Jean
morning Haz
hey! its Imran day! lol. and hi :)
hi Haz
gotta shower bbl
hello and goodbye
bye sapphie
Gosh, has my icon not updated? I thought I had got Spangle restored.
poor Spangle! I probably need to refresh
Let's try again - is that better (in a manner of speaking)?
much better :)
I had been on last night, mentioned that your icon would win prizes for the most handsome and you not being around was forced to show the ladies what I meant. There was much swooning and sharing of smelling salts.
Any clues for the em7,32?
mkl - given at 3.16
famous person in their field
Sorry - cancel that- my eyes haven't adjusted yet!
Maybe a little more?
Regarding the em7/32, Niles Crane once said, when being intoduced as an em7/32 psychiatrist ' You are very kind, my brother was already em7/32, when my em****ce was merely imminent'
TY Haz - v succinct
Hilarious. I JUST saw that episode two or three days ago. ty
Hilarious. I JUST saw that episode two or three days ago. ty
Good! I love the programme.
hi all! thanks for that em7 haz!
Good morning FranMag!
so I heard Haz! I came back on late in the evening and got pounced on and told all about it! And Hobbit is restored now :)
hi haz!
One more clue? to7,28
mkl, on the tip of your foot
thanks for em7
Oh poor you, Atalante, pounced on by a posse of excited females!
has jean always been pro?
the problem with Imran is that he just gets better looking as he gets older. you can't look at him now and be put off!
i just wish i knew about him sooner!
Fran - jean upgraded a few days ago, and yes, Atalante, he doesn't disappoint.
Thanks much Fran.
yw mkl
good morning all from a hot and steamy Durban SA
hi ursh! i see you have your flag now!
Good morning ursh.
hi ursh!
yes Fran quite colourful dont you think "rainbow nation"
morning Babblers :)
it's nice ursh!
hi sherb!
Ah, good morning sherb, the weekend is here.

Morning all Just found ts7/36
do you have a def fmitch?
morning FMitch :) ...I'm on the hunt for it now...
Good morning - a ts word, not involving russians?
nvm, i found it!
Hi sherb and Fran and yes Haz it does make a change!
i should have had it already, considering what's been going on over here.
ah!
Well, for goodness sake.
does that mean you found it Haz?
Indeed - it was FranMag's hint that gave it to me.
it was a pretty subtle hint though, don't you think?
It was lovely. I like subtle.
very subtle... :)
i hate words with m in them - the first and last am5/12
please
am5/12 - a type of acid
this grid is sadly lacking any of our favourite babblets apart form the needlecase (or lat least I haven't spotted them yet).
*waves at FM* didn't say hi to you!
requiring knowledge of current events in another part of the world as well as some science.
Morning Ata :)
fmitch there are quite a few babblets actually
the one right after that haz
Ah well, you'll need to look to another for that, I'm afraid, ursh.
Ah, I will have to keep digging away then Fran.
thanks fmitch, i didn't have the needlecase yet!
ursh, i have one that a + m***sail
I thought for a minute that feuar was there and held my vreath when it looked like the beginning of socmen, but no....
and one that is am4/5 + a vowel at the end, that's all i have.
ty fran - funny how the obvious ones get missed
yw ursh
Where I live is in the grid again (the neck tie or race course).
Enable doen't recognise email...
thanks again fmitch!
BRB on phone
Mornin" Y'all. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the grid.
hi odin!
Good morning Odin.
Hey Fran...great scandalous icon!
Mornin' Haz
heh, thanks odin!
Stain and all!
There'll be a lot of dirty linen in public today.
pretty messed up...am i right?
very clever, Fran!
thanks kate!
All that lu4/5.
LOL..you are right.
haz, that's what starts most scandals, isn't it?
tuna
Sorry folks...
did you find the shark odin? where there's tu4/5, there are usually bigger fish.
Yes, apart from the economic kind, but I suppose you dould say it's lu4/5 for money that causes them.
thank you Odin :)
yes, that's true too!
Yes Fran I did
YW FMitch...pre-coffee but I'm gonna fix that noe!
Have some to5/10 as well.
and take the T off for the kind of building I live in
Back shortly.
Ah it's you Ata, I was trying to remember earlier this morningwho it was that lived in one.
:)
is that really what it's called or is it just hot?
co5/12 is driving me mad - please clue
yes really, its the name for a building used to dry hops in. this one was converted into housing about 15 years ago
the only one i have is alt spelling of comfy and co***
co 5 think of an odd spelling for something atop a tea pot
Haven't got any co5's yet ursh
ty got it
that's cool ata. is it like the converted lofts in the U.S.?
let me find a pic, fran
Now I have 1 co5 - thanks kateq
yw
they tend to look like this - http://tinyurl.com/tysv7 - except ours has square turrets, not round ones. they tend to get converted from 1 oa** into 6 or 8 joined houses
how cool!
they are totally impractical to live in LOL but I like mine
hey, that's all that matters. :-)
Morning! How's today's puzzle?
hi matty! it's okay, but last 50 are hiding
No Tock? As in tick tock?
Hi again all. Matty I tried that one and no
Morning matty No email either
i'm sure everyone tried it
Mornin' Matty
And internet isn't recognised by Babble either. Go firgure.
hey, does anyone need clues for the Ks? i found them all myself, i was so proud of myself.
Ah well without internet email wouldnt work anyway :)
Feel free, if you must Fran - I've just started, and have just two Ks
em4 please
Having a problem with amnio - says its not in the dictionary but it is there...anyone else try it?
popping to the shops... later all :)
i tried it too odin, it's not a valid word
elongate it, Odin
I've tried it and it wont work
No, it won't allow amnio bit it will allow same word with extra letter at end!
I've got the longer version
em4/8 is a dumb word that is actually initials for electro-magnetic frequencies edonia.
you can turn it into the 7/22
very strange...clearly a word and yes I have the one with the additional letter Hydra...thanks
Which one, Fi the A or the E?
thanks fran
the am matty
Oh. I have the 6/21 - how can you get a 7/22?
amnio is just officially a prefix I think
Think of the ending for a new born matty
Scrap that matty -
for the am 5 try ending with the first vowel
How about them K's, Fran!
It is ata but dictionary .com lists it and it is on lickety's list and the other lists...color me confused
odin, there is a am5/12 that's an anagram of what you were trying
switch the last three letters around
Have that one Fran...thanks
ka4/11, ka*tan* (loose fitting garment)
Come on Fran - while I've been waiting I've found 7 of those k's
ka4/8, sounds like a dark leafy green
ka4/8, sounds like abel's brother
Odin do you have the am** acid?
ka4/9, sounds like i ca**, i saw, i conquered
Yes FMitch.Thanks
Kamino is a word! Its a planet in SW!
Odin there are 3 am's involving the fetus
ka4/9, japanese for holy, as in ka** kaze (suicide fighter)
am 5/12--ending in first vowel
ka4/8, japanese writing
then the 6 and 7
ka4/8, citizen ka**
ka4/8, ka + opp of off
Thnx for the last k fran - grins broadly!
ata, drop the last two letters.
yw angb!
What Angb said !
np odin!
yes, I know :P Just protesting on behalf of Star Wars :)
okay ata! :-)
Japanese writing?
*F*I*R*E*W*O*R*K*S

Mornin' hodag
Hi hodag

Hi Odin and angb
co5 = sounds like what you put atop a tea pot
Wierd way of spelling a word for snug shorty
ok ty
cosin
sorry
Nearly there sorty -vowel at the end
ty sorry

ty
Gosh - lots of As. Words that begin with vowels are the bane of my existance
Yesterday we had flora and today we have its partner word!

Just about to head off to do the dreaded shopping. Shorty - are you that keento beat faerikae that you're prepared to get up this early?
Congrats to you who finished!
Happy Saturday everyone!

FMitch-did you get the ts7?

Yes matty

Struggling
The am is a nasty one matty - take a am 5 that it won't accept (normal prefix) and add most of a cuppa
OK, got the AM7 and the TS7
matty Eva clued the ts7 at 5.16. The to7 look at the end of your foot.
And the em is pretty straight up!

It's not too bad M3
matty have you got the an5/10 dif sp similar to veg that makes you cry.
Do now! Actually, I had it, but had not entered it inth elist... one left - the second an word
Good morning Babblers. I am trying to find some words before I get ready for work. How is everybody?
Good morning Scrabbler! I'm fine and you?
I could have used a few more hours of sleep, but I'm doing well.
an5/10 - the first one?
glad to hear that. Maybe you can catch a nap once you get home from work.
Please?
Sorry Matty, I don't have it yet.
I 'll be helping my sister, parents, and cousin clean up tree damage from the snowstorm received here Oct 12. My cousin just got her pwoer back last night, but my sister and parents still have no power or phone. It has been a long week for everyone here in western NY. Check out photos on www.wgrz.com.
hello babblers how is the grid this morning? As weird as yesterday?
Scrabbler - Great attitude - You are a great help to them - really!
Oh Scrabbler, that is awful. I am so sorry. I will check the photos. Have seen some reports on the Weather Channel
Matty, I am just getting familiar with the grid. I have had guests here all week and am losing my mind somewhat. I live alone so I miss the solitude and quiet.
Scrabbler - good luck with the crowd!
Good morning Enomis65.
Lickety--I am wondering, how do you do the clues? When do you start and how long does it take you?
woohoo! just booked tickets to go and see Spamalot, the new Monty Python musical!
Watch out for the NeNes.
tisk is a word?
Got it! Oooh - Ata, can I come!
Congrats, Atalante. That is currently playing here in Cincinnati, Ohio and getting rave reviews.
No, I tried that word too.
I've only heard really good things about it!
I believe it sold out here in very little time.
sorry Scrabbler - had to walk away- got 3 kids under 10 here - just getting them to sleep
yeah ... I've had to get expensive tickets *sigh*. But my best friend from the US and her husband are coming over for 3 weeks on wednesday, and I wanted to get something really fun to go and see up in london!
Not an easy ta4, lickety!
I guess task is not on the grid though.
So many phantom words here today.
That is so nice of you, I am sure you all will enjoy it.
Scrabbler, task isn't but what Zorro wears is
ooooo am all excited now! lol
Yep, I have that. TY.
ok, back for a asec. Scrabbler - it took me about 20 hours to write a program to create clues, now when I run it it take about 5 seconds to get the letters, then under a minute to get the clues, then I have to manually update the 2 pages - the clues page and the printable clues page - and that takes about 3 minutes - BUT I have to do this during my work hours.
I, for one, appreciate your doing the list Lickety.
snaps for licketedy
I love snaps - haven't had them for ages! ButterScotch/
?
Very cool, lickety. TY for what you do. It is certainly very helpful, especially when desperation hits. My sister thinks it is cheating to use your list, but I tell her it is part of the learning experience of learning new words.
Lickety, I thank you from the bottom of my heart - I'd be lost without your clues (and the automatic alphatising that it does!)
Atalante, Wednesday will be here before you know it. Will you be able to be home all the time they are there?
no, snaps is a term for kudos, like snapping your fingers instead of clapping. Ssorry for the confusion
Matty - there is some info on my clues page on how best to thank me - But honestly - Your way is the best! Thank you so much.
Arrgh, got to get ready for work. I iwll be thinking of everyone here, finding words and having a fun chat. Have a nice day/night. I will return tonight.
bichon - Snaps for you!\
oh yes :) we;'ve got the whole 3 weeks together and I can't WAIT!
(alphatising? should be alphabetising...)
We knew what you meant, matty.
hello
Atalante - 3 weeks ? Sarcasm will get you everywher
Have a great time, Atalante!
bye bye Scrabbler
That will be wonderful for you as well as your friends. Enjoy!
Good morning herinfernallady
Atalante - I realise I may have made a mistake. Sorry - HAve a great Trip!
LOL :)
morning mom, finally got my own laptop so sponging net off partner via wireless
wireless is good. In our house we would be lost without it.
how many words today plz & ty
mom my laptop is designed for wireless so i have been giving the boy stick for his not working yet
179
He needs to get on that.
Ooh - my favourite needle case is there!
thanks mom i was going to ask the same question
it's he 21st century and email doesn't count?
my son and his wife had wireless in the Bay area [California] and they discontinued it cause their neighbors were sponging off it.
Bichon, wow! That takes nerve.
It's pretty common. they're both heavily into computers via their work so it was a big disappointment. I guess it's "carpe diem"
bichon thats what securing the net is for as that is rude. My partner lets use his net as i do his washing and im his g/f
I figured you could use the wireless in house only. I had no clue that your neighbors could pick it up.
mom you can go outside your house and see if your laptop picks up your net connection
I guess the signal extends a short distance outside the house. They live in the Bay area which is very densly settled. Houses are close together
I will do that. We have just one laptop the others are desktops.
I guess that is why I never thought of it.
we have neighbours either side and a wireless network set up (but we also have the appropriate firewalls and security to stop our neighbours stealing our internet!)
this house has good solid walls and the net connect is very week outside the house
I know my husband has put into place security measures and the firewalls as well.
when we helped our neighbours next door set up their internet we took my laptop round and still had a very good signal. Its down right rude stealing your neighbours net connection, its such a shame your son had to cancel his because of his neighbours.
my one computer is next to a window and the house next to my is very close [cluster housing]. I know my neighbors wouldn't do that, but you never know what people's intentions are. I don't need wireless, but I have a "two-wire" so I can use another desktop down in the basement
Hey Fish!
we also have a major shopping centre accross the road so there is free net there and next door are really old people and a doctors office so we are safe
note
oh yeah, morning everyone (forgot to say hello) Morning Matty *waves*
sorry
places around here are just now setting up for wi-fi, mostly restaurants and some businesses.
Morning Fishbulb.
also in the city there is a lot of wireless cafes so we don't have that much of a problem, hi fish
the center of our university has wi-fi and so does downtown. it's called "quality of life"
Morning everybody
We are always far behind in technology. The joke around here is that if you want to see what life was like 10 years ago, come to Cincinnati Ohio. Which is just across the river from us.
Morning Pida
bichon, I just drop into the chat> which univiersity are you referring to?
Hi Inge
Hi and good morning everybody
Hi Inge
he, Bichon, where are you? U Conn??
Inge, the Wesleyan, in CT. I'm in the mail center and we get wi-fi in the front, not in the back. We're next to the library and in the campus center. Lots of the classrooms get it
hi new people
I was born and went to High School in Danbury, almost went to UConn, till an ivy league college grabbed me
back to serious work now, 70 words to go
Lots of people are going to UCONN. It's upped its reputation and the price is right. Wesleyan is a "little Ivy" with a price tag to match.
The family is waking up so I had best get breakfast started. I have enjoyed the chat. Bye for now.
Good morning everybody!
;bye Mom, mornin Charm
hi & bye to those who have come and gone.
hi, pida.
hello, im back i just had the computer pinched for research stuff by others

Just dropping by to say a quick Hello to my Babble Friends today :)
Hi, faerie!

Faerie--how is your mom this morning?
Hi Charm Hi Pam :)
morning pam
hi, charm
Pam there has been no change since last night she is still not able to speak nor is there any eyemovement
faerie, did not know your mom was unwell....
oh, faerie, I am sorry. Continued white light her way...
Inge are you here
Just saying Prayers for Gods will to be done now :\
Thanks Baby
yes, tiny, deep in the grid. Here I am
Charm yes she has been in the hospital now for 11 days
All Done anyone need cllues before I go???
(((Inge))) Good Morning
hi, inge
oh, my goodness, faerie. That has to be tough for everyone. many prayers coming your way.
Congrats EDONIA !!!!!!
thank you
yay, edonia
morning
(((Charm))) Thank You
Hi Herin
he, herin!
Guten MOrgen, Faerie. Sorry to hear that your Mom has not improved. Which hospital is she in? Actually I only know the Lexington one
Inge she is in Lake Cumberland Hospital here in Somerset
Inge did you get that recipe for Pumpkin Scones I put it on bab anon for you about page 22
Inge I'm goiing to try and talk the rest of my sisters and bros to move her to St Mary's in Lex it is a much better hospital
how many sibligs do you have, faerie?
yes, got the recipe, and told my daughter in Las Vegas where to find it, she used to babble, so she knew where to look. She bought herelf a cake at the store (while buying pumpkin scone ingredients), so she didnt bake yet. Will let you know when she does
I have 6 sisters and 2 bros but there are actually on 3 of us girls and my 2 bros who have been taking turns with her
great good to hear you got it
faerie, I know how difficult this can be. I only hope your mom is able to make a full recovery.
when i got to the hospital yesterday she was laying there with 2 pills stuck to the roof of her mouth and one of my sisters sitting there saying "I don't know what to do" I could have smacked her
My Cleveland daughter was born in the University Hospital in Lexington. Has an excellent reputation
the hospital, well, my dasughter also
needless to say I took a wet wash cloth and removed them and called a nurse
God Bless Faeriekae hope your Mother improves you are in my prayers. Bye everyone!!!
Thanks Inge I'll check it out and see what I can do
bye edonia
thanks Edonia see ya later
back into the grid before I commit penalties
that is a large family, faerie
I am sorry that some are more clueless than others, but that is not uncommon... I hope she is strong enough to be moved if indeed you decide to have her moved
Yes Pam it is it's just a shame that some of them feel they are uncapiable of staying with her and helping
true, faerie
Pam we will have to fly her but I know we can do it if the rest will agree
faerie, I don't know what the prognosis for your mom is, but a good friend is going thru a tough time with her dad. Of eleven siblings, 5-6 are trying to care for their dad in his home. Basically end-of-life care; truly heartbreaking to watch the everyday struggles to hold out a brave face and do what needs to be done.
Charm you are exactly right and I honestly thought yesterday was her last day but she is hanging in there and I do know that this is the time when you find out just how tuff some are and some aren't
Some people just can't do it, it's not that they won't, but it's that they can't... and it is sad
need to get back to the hospital and then off to work Happy Babbling everyone. Guess I just needed a few words of encouragement befor going back ((((Hugs to everyone))))
send warm wishes to you faerie and your family
hugs, faerie
(((Ursh))) Thank You
Take care faerie.
I will keep everyone posted on how she is doing through out this difficult time
good morning all

Hi, Unea. should I recognize your icon? Or is he searching for words too?
today's theme is scandals and it's a pic of Roman Polanski
oh. a scandal. yes. and, though I know his name, never seen any of his movies. I know, a cultural neanderthal.
I've just been watching 84 Charing Cross Rd for the bazillionth time and once again came across this breathtaking expression of love: Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half-light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams. William Butler Yeats
I keep entering 'silent'....
sigh . . . .
sigh
It is breathtaking and unfortunately for me, heartbreaking, too at this time....
beautiful, Une :)
oh faeri i don't know what is happening but i am sending possitive thoughts
beautiful Unea
Pam, so sorry . . .

thanks levia
roman polanski scandal?
what critter?
roman polanski was BIG scandal back in the 70's---questions about his wife's murder, etc.
yes, but also screwing underage girls
that's why he fled the USA
he was not a suspect in the murders at all
right....but someone else has him.... (i think the underage girls came after his wife's involvement with manson...and it unhinged hiim?
don't think he ever WAS hinged :-)
lol, probably not
homely little sucker, too
oy vey! we're talking MURDER? **creepy music**
manson, no less
massacre was more like it
Charles Manson and his crew
Yeah, Jean, but when you are "somebody" in show biz, you're never to scrawny or ugly for the Bimbos
oh yeah, that was a biggie
yes, it was a massacre
charles manson was a genious and so was jim jones
so was stalin
unforntunately, the definition of genius is limited only to knowledge
evil more than genius
guess I wandered too long...manson? jim jones????
and david koresh
genuises all.

i finally thought of my own scandal
ma6/24 = the Tiger's Ma**** is a, er, tiger.
i;ll say you did, dorens!!!
ma5/14 = lat for hand, I think. male + them v. **
dorens i though you might be suing your ex gov thank god for that
ma 5/12: French for 'but' + crossed letter,
Charm - working on the ma6/24...?
ma6/24 = the guy wearing the animal costume which represents the team....
my ex-gov is best not mentioned, Temple
every sports team has a ma____, or m + as 5
thanks, inge!
i totally agree dorens and that he would seek to get rich from it
Thanks guys! The Mets ma___ is a smiley baseball, I think!
*zip*
i KNOW....it's amazing that he is out there pushing that book... our society today is incredible.
who is your ex-gov, dorens?
The real scandal is that we voted to re=elect him
jim McGreevey--- who resigned saying "I am a Gay American".... putting his family through hell (wife and daughter, etc) and making all kinds of tawdry excuses
yes, pida...it really is
or that the courts deemed it so, pida...
the first waas the courts, pam, the second was just US

ai4/4 - sounds like you are describing 8's.
ty...
thanks, Matty. monkeyed it even as I asked!!
she never did tell me when to send her plants...guess it'd be easier for her to get at her garden in the spring
maybe longer, she was here for a long time telling us about her MOM
she is at the hospital by now im sure
hi everyone
shorty, how is faerie's mom?
Hi, Annie
hi annie
I havent heard yet today
nutsy, I have her address for plants, where I sent ours, maybe she is too busy to be planting right now
hi charm and dorens
annie i am taking my kids to chinatown for dimsum....do you have any favorite places there?
but she thought yesterday was her last day
poor thing
in6/21 clue please
in6 = diabetics take in*****. change the s to another consonant.
i was thinking she might want to see what comes up in spring
fairie reporteed taht she visited her mom last nihgt and found two pills stuck to the roof of her mouth, and her sister sitting by helplessly. Faierie removed the pills with a Kleenex and called the nurse, but mom still does not respond and has eyes closed
Dorens, havent been there for a while ...I go over to the one in Brooklyn now but I will be darned if I can remember the name
oh my gosh
she wants to convicne her siblings to move Mom to a Lexington hospital
oh my god, that is awful
a change is definitely in order
is tha a better hospital
I agree, nutsy
the University hospital used to be top notch, most teaching hospitals are, and taht one gets all the dire cases from the Appalachians
it's truth...hubbies hospital was a teaching hospital...impressive care
so even the interns are well trained
I hope she can convince her siblings to move her mother to a teaching hospital...they are better equipped all around
anotehr dive, 17 to go
patients are way better watched in the name of learning
me too
I cant believe that hospital almost killed her
TE6/21 anyone?
yay my K's are done!
te6/21 = t + e (looks kinda like fr for bored)
and it's pl.
Huh?
Thanks Charm

The last am5/12 resembles the structure of the foetus fluid but ends in an unusual vowel

to6/21 = *sounds* like a poison.

ch, dawn rice and gary hart....look what is happening now...makes that look kind of mild
to6/18 = a type of tea (Hercule Poirot comes to mind)

to6/21 = to + consonant + 7 deadly ***s.

Does it seem to be a fairly easy grid? I haven't much time today.
fireworks for rusty and me
I wouldn't classify it as easy, Merk.
Others may disagree!
merk took us 5 hours about normal here
congrats roncook & rusty - merk, i don't think its an easy one today :-S lots of 'odd' words IMO
yay for rusty, you too, ron
OK, thanks. I guess I will start it then. The left side seems cluttered with vowels and they can drive me crazy when they pile up like that.
I'll give it a try and within 15 minutes I'll know whether or not to continue.
anniebrook whats the bridge then
ron, is the bridge still there? It's the Verrazano Bridge connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island..
Roncook, what's the bridge to which you are referring. Is that a shortcut expression that Babblers use?
merk no just curious as we have only crossed under the golden gate
Shoot, I thought I was going to learn somehing new here. I still get confused when players write about fish.
whats fish got to do with it??
Nothing, but once in awhile someone will be chatting and they'll call something a fish.
does anyone have the 2nd am4/5? please
the fish today is a tu4/5
Wellm Merk, sport fishing is a big thing in Florida, but babblephishing is what it is on here, when you ask for a clue, and it ends up being something simple, you shouldn't have missed
bichon, french female friend
then you get hit with a fish...
Anj started the fish thing... he used to call for a wet haddock when he missed a simple word...
Oh I see that one. But when they talk about fish, it is not an actual fsh. Haz, you're here a lot. what am I talking about?
no, that's the 3rd am 4/5
Good one , roncook, I had missed that one
oh, then I'm missing it too!
good afternoon everybody:)
Merk - it's as Sherb says, if people miss a word they think should have been obvious they ask for a fish to hit themselves with. It has caused great confusion to new people!
Merk, am I invisible?
hi jean
does anyone have the 2nd am4/5? please
second am change last vowel
gotta go and watch the fish in my pond so long y,all
thanks flosia
The second am4/5 is a plus Miss Farrow.
bye ron and rusty :)
any clues for am5/12, the third one please
bye ron cook rusty
The first am4/5 sounds like a plus multiple shortened mothers and the third one is the french female friend
bye ron and rusty
The third am5/12 is like the second, except for the last vowel.
OK, perhaps I need to be hit with a fish to clear my brain. I can't find the em 4,8. Is there a clue?

Merk - it's an electrical thing. em plus Old Blue Eyes' initials

Over for today - just 9-12. Only got a few people, but sold some stuff. Mostly worked on pricing and organization for next Fri & Sat.
harp, who is that in your icon?
fawn hall
the famous paper shredder
I names a cat after her, for obvious reasons!
make that named
boy, talk about 15 minutes of fame, I didn't recognize her either.....
It's funny how easy it is to forget the name of the females involved in some of these scandals. I can't for the life of me remember the woman with Gary Hart inch1212's icon.
she was very patriotic, actually thought she was doing the right thing for her country
that is in ch1212's icon
Sometimes it's hard to know what the right thing is and sometimes it isn't.
23 to go, i really MUST get out of my jammies before noon....
need the first 2 ma 5/12s please
amine

Hi everybody; I haven't been here for over a week. It seems like a very slow chat day today
hey Nef
Where ya been Nef, working?
Hi Nef, good to see you back
Is it that bad of a grid today; or a very easy one?
fain
I've been at a nursing convention and involved in some environmental stuff and some politics
thanx bichon LOL!!!
It's a slow day because the grid takes a bit of time. There are many odd words and lots of vowels.
big faux pas
I've decided to follow in my Grandmothers' footsteps: I'm going to be an election judge this year! :D
sounds like a great idea Nef
no problem Bichon, I can't do the grid and chat at the same time since I always type things in the wrong boxes! :)
faint
I never knew what was involved in it before, Flosey. It's quite interesting to find out that I have to do an absentee ballot; learn how the machines work, etc.
this is the worst I've don this. I am so sorry and won't do it again.
but something very important Nef
add an s also bichon LOL
just move over to the add word box, bichon. It won't hold too much chat, however! ;)
We can always use the accidental help, Bichon, don't feel bad.
ok only 144 left yeah!!!!
I did add an s and thanks for the advice
I only have 100 left yeah!!!!
does anyone have a clue for the first ma4/5 I'm sure I've tried every possible monkey !!
yay shorty!!!!
LOL
Flosey, I will send you a fish by ma**
did you check your ma** box?
oh, indeed, many fish but thanks
and that gives me the next one too, thanks inge
got to catch more fish! Actually we bring them in now for the winter.
can anyone explain to me why the words tick and tock aren't words here in Babble? I know tick isn't on this grid, but I've been frustarted by it before
lol, sure need lots for today
tick certainly is a word, rocky mountain tick - can be serious bite
actually not a bite so much as they dig into you
yeah, or we have wood ticks and deer ticks too. but whenever I've tried to use them here; they don't count
strange
are you in north west Nef, I'd never heard of them when back in Ontario
I'm in good old Minnesota, the deer ticks are a Eastern invasion that cause Limes disease; wood ticks have been here since I was a small child
guess I was too close to big city while in Ontario
we're forever removing them from the dog here in south/west BC
(although I guess my childhood wasn't as long ago as yours now that I've read your bio!) :)
lol, quite an old lady here!
no, I'm going to be retiring within 6-7 years, so I'm not *that* far behind you! :)
Jillibus sets a good example for us, doesn't she?
oh indeed she does
she's one sharp cookie
good bridge player too
I've noticed that she's sharp! I enjoy her. I have never learned how to play bridge; so I'll take yor word about how wel she plays that game! :D
she's had quite an interesting life from very early years
hello babblers
Hi Taz
hi Taz
hiya flosey and hef
gosh it's funny the 'words' you come up with just monkeying around
4 more words and then I have to go for awhile. For some reason, hubby thinks we need to buy groceries just because the pantry is bare! :)
lol, we just came back a short time ago
lol is he not a babbler?
it sounds like you are having better luck than I am flosey!
40 to go
nope, he's not a Babbler
but I was awake during the night so got a few in then - between 2: 4: am
hello everyone

Hi Kalea

not quite, but it does look funny
not a baker here so i admire you
i love baking.......i make everything from scratch
i would eat it all truly
lol.....it's been a challenge experimenting to change recipes so my diabetic hubby can eat it
kalea, do you use splenda? It works really well in cakes , etc, just have to adjust the baking powder and baking soda. Good for diabetics
hhi pida
i have used it, but i can't quite get the texture of the batter right..........it doesn't substitute cup for cup, as they claim.........and it's really expensive
Hi taz and everyone else on line
and hiya right back
I've used it in key lime pie, and carrot cake, I'm not diabetic, but I try to cut down on sugar, all the time
so how much baking powder and soda does one adjust per cup?
Splenda has a website with different recipes, and they explain the subsitutions necessary
hmmmmmmm.......i shall have to check it out
and I usually buy it when I find a coupon. Otherwise, like you said, it's expensive
i figured out how to make cinnamon rolls he can have....he's really happy about that.......lol
Hey pida, I got 'works.

any clues anyone?
good afternoon -- I need a clue for the second mi5/12 -- 'assuming' the first is the plural of mi4/5 above it
hi everyone! : )
Hello pbr - they are both plurals, one normal (the second) the other latin (the first)
There's an ma4/5 I just can't find, between the madness and the male with a pronoun ending
It's male with another vowel ending.
thanks Haz--- 65 more to go. on to the n's
Hi Haz! I have every possiblke vowel ening after ma hook--3 of them
It's ma and the opposite of yes. (between ma5/12 and ma5/14)
iyaa
all
I have that,Haz.
That's the only ma4/5 in that position. Is there ma4/5 somewhere else you're missing?
ma4/5 what the British call the post, the chief or foremost, almost what the Israelites ate in the desert, the horse's hair, the male plus vowel, what sails are hoisted upon.
All goes merrily with my ma's unil the madness one. following that I have the ma+ opp of "yes";the male + pronoun; then after what I wear for liuck all goes well again to the end
--and I have all the ones you've clued.
Phone - back shortly.
hettt, do you have what an animal does ...dog or lion ma**?
and what someone wears to disguise one's face - like at a ball?
hetty ... how many ma words have you? there are 18
Yes, thanks TO-the last 3 ma's after the ship's rigging are alll i place
just chekcing : ) - iam still on the am?
anyone have a clue to te5/10 the second and third ones please
I have 16 ma words. I'm missing the 2 in th middle--ma5 and ma4
sorry, only the last te5/10 please
and do you have the shark (s)?
Thanks TO, but I have all you've mentioned. . I guess fishes are in order
hello all. Hetty - do you have ma** from heaven (usually double consonent but not this time)
email not allowed!!
sharks?
hi folks
Yes I have the bread of heaven eaten in the desert
just got them, thanks
ma4/9 and ma5/20 - ma plus the universal signal of 'all right' back to front. Then plural.
I guess it must be sing & pl shark--but what synonym for shark begins with ma I'll never know
good morning Haz TY didn't have the plural
hetty - just clued below.
hi all :) have too many left to find
not a synonym, hetty. it's a type
Haz, you are a wonder.
Hello lynxxx. And Atalante - running behind?
way way behind!
Hetty - glad you've got your ma's into magnificent order.
Now I've learned a new name for a type of shark (thanks, TO) and I can't wait to try it out somewhere.
and they taste good!
It was a new word for me as well.
So that will be my fish for today (yes, I know it's not really a fish, but what the heck)
they were my first words in the grid!
hi ata. i th8ink they are fish
have you got the ma+3rd vowel+abbreviation for a sort of holy man?
They are fish. Hello, all!
hi ankh - and hi to all recent arrivers!
thanks mo!
hetty have you the ma+3rd vowel+aa abbreviation for a sort of holy man?
Yesterday, my babble name was in the grid, and today my mundane name is! LI**
Mo, thanks... those Scots words feel a bit (may I say?) fishy... but it's true, they are allowed in regular Scrabble a lot too.
chatterbox doesnt seem to be working
mo, thanks hon, but I have all my ma's now
Afternoon all.
Back for my last 19. Here's where I start begging for help.
hi ankh and all others, I am deep in the grid ( :
enjoy the clues tho not desperate yet lol
sorry about my late and repeat messages ...a fault at this end i am afraid!!!!
The first te6,18 and the te6,21?
Fireworks ! last word I never would have believed - to6/18 !
YAY Flosey!
Way to go Flosey
Congrats Flosey!
mkl te - thing on end of your finger
and that 4 letter word appears in many ways
ya flosey!
Thanks flosey. What kind of word is that? That's rhetorical, you don't have to answer
thanks all, was on and off all day
no idea but then many words are strange to me
WTG !!!!! flosey....
te6,21?
te6/21 - a number then what three letters of what the tailor makes for a man, backwards.
Scrub that! I've got my vowels mixed up!
TY Haz - worked for me
haz, same letters just unscramble them
There you go then - babblers are a resourceful lot!
te 10 + " me" in the middle of "we"
ty
me6,21?
Txs, Pida, I needed that
me 4.5 + 2 vowels
eanie.....................
yw
minie, moe
hey everyone !
Darn, no tuit? They sell round tuits in gift catalogs, for people who never seem to have one
Hiya, homegirl!
Good afternoon, HK
hi helen! mau i have a clue please for co 5?
co5 warm and co5
Huh. I had to type that in three time for it to take it.
pida - cute icon - you guys need to take some pointers from us, where even the dead vote for mayor daley (father & now his son) lol
thanks again flosey!
yw
*thinks Young Daley a better man than his father by far*
hi, helen-- they did that in boston for mayor curley too-- vote early, vote often...
thnx, helen sometimes it's hard to get the point across, and still be political correct
yep - ain't politics grand?
oh ain't it tho, love those icons
Weird, Pida, I was just reading about the uncounted votes today in a book I seem to have left in the kitchen... will give you title next time.
lib - & may is say i think your scandal just sickens me
Ank I am older and do have a dog-your point?!
I'd appreciate that, helen
I meant Ankh
wish i had an icon for Blair and his government...what a scandal!!!!
wish i had an icon for Blair and his government...what a scandal!!!!
oh, yep-- -- may change to christine keeler--that was a fun scandal
Ah, Cherry, my point is ... it's worse to be without a dog than without kids! :)
ankh - i have a friend who works closely with daley & swears that he is a very intelligent man, but only knowing him from his news clips, well, i think both he & jethro bodine have been in the 5th grade for a long, long time
I did come across a good pic of Bush & Blair, but wanted to be nice
Oooh, Lib, I refuse to ever ever ever see one of That Man's movies ever again!
yes, too bad-- I loved his movies before that-- brb
why? pida
Heh... maybe, Helen, you're too young to remember his father. In comparison to his father, he's a world-class orator, nearly a rocket scientist. But I mean, he's better *morally* than his dad. His dad was a baaaaaad maaaaan.
mo - i just saw the movie 'the queen' last week with helen mirren & it seemed that at the beginning of his tenure, people were quite positive & excited about him - what happened?
nothing?
Oh, I have three kids all grown and in different states! Lost my husband of 42 years a year ago, still struggling with
lu6,21?
Oh, Cherry, so very sorry about your husband.
(((cherrypop))) so sorry
hi peoples
Hi chj
lu 6/21 musical instrument + not out
(((Cherrypop)))
hey, chj
i havent seen the movie yet... but he is destroying this country
cherry...grandkids?
hi chj
I thought it was an ending for the musical instrument, but for some reason, I couldn't see it. TY
He was agood man and we miss him, but he would be the first to say let it go and get on with it. God decides and we abide. Thanks for letting me share.
hi TO....how's the grid going
ankh - hmmm, i am 2 years older than you & i have the opposite opinion, his dad was a man who got things done - maybe not equaly fairly for everyone, but he was mayor during periods of greater social change & ensuing turmoil than now
Well, that's why *I* come to babble -- it's not for the grids. So sure, Cherry.
thank you for sharing cherry
slowly...time to go chuirch and shopping call!
Oh, dear, Helen! We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I hold the Old Mare *responsible* for a lot of that discord.
i am on a shipping mission
Shipping or shopping or both, Owl?
hey chj
{{{{{cherry}}}}}
The first fa6,30?
Oops, I meant the second fa6,30.
He has his fa****, but we still like him
ankh - i remember seeing a play, during my college years, at the beacon st. theatre (i think), anyway it was set in daley's kitchen & it was about chicago politics, i remember vito marzullo was there & they had ritchie in the corner doing his law school homework - in crayon, it was hysterical
hi helen...love the pic of richard raskin
there's 2 fa6....droop head
the latin plural of the fa5/18 before it
the first one is feast or fa****
There's three fa6,30. I need a clue for the second.
Wow, it would have been great to see, Helen!
fa6/27 from not having eaten because of the potato fa6/30
bye all! see you later!
7 left. All of the el's and four fa's
ah chj - tx, i remembered the richard, but couldn't remember his last name & was too lazy last night to look it up
Thanks chj, but that's the first, I need the next one
plural of the fa5/18 before it (not latin)
earthquakes hit along fa*** lines, pl
i gave you both in the same clue mkl
the elder daley was the boss tweed of the sixties who bought, sold and influence peddled ..... a corrupt philanderer that would do about anything to get his way.
ty. That gave me two words.
oh the third is fa5/27 a supporter + a charged particle
Sounds like you're talking about the Bush's Purloined
MO, how is he destroying your country?
Bye, Owl! CHJ, I don't get the first part, about fa**** cuz of being hungry.
back w/ new icon--woody was grossing me out too-- can't seem toget away from male predators-- got to think of a more fun scandal..
purloin - true enough, but it was 'the city that worked' --- things got accomplished & things got taken care of
Oh, Purloined, the elder Daley -- whom I dislike and consider immoral -- never, ever philandered. Really, he didn't.
garbage
have a fa***ing spell + pl
Thanks for the clues. Gotta run with 5 to go. Our first snow storm of the season and I have to pick up my daughter. Luck to all.
oh so you don't get the wrong idea - it's not like i'm defending evil ways, but the politician who is not greedy & evil is a very rare, or maybe even an extinct bird
a despot gets things done too ..... sadam got things done
pl of fa5/16
Helen & I have made truce, because we have to disagree: I don't think the "city that worked" worked for anyone but certain races & incomes. But for all that I disliked the man, he didn't cheat on his wife. Really, he didn't.
Hey, libera , I like that one much better
Bye, MKL!!
garbage - yes that got picked up regularily - it was nice
by MKL
snow - it got removed quickly - that was nice
if you needed a tree cut down - you knew who to call & it got cut down - that was nice
Oh, CHJ, got it now, thanks so much.
daley was a good mayor for people who worked & paid taxes - he was not a good mayor for people with their hands out
ty pida
daley was a good mayor for those who greased his palm
yw
gee, ted kennedy from my home state could be here...
a good pol but a wretched person...
yes- ankh, i agree, it only worked for who you said it worked for, but those were different times, he was an old man, he wasn't the one who was going to help with racial equality
There were so many to choose from, that's why I stuck to my state
daley epitomized an administration who's rule was the end justified the means.
daley epitomized an administration who's rule was the end justified the means.
he stepped on anyone in his way
and i have found my icon! see you later- peace out
Helen, I'm sorry to disagree again -- he wasn't a good mayor for *all* the people who worked & paid taxes -- there were neighborhoods where the plows didn't go. He was a terrible *young* man, used to foment race riots with his "Hamburg Club" as a 20-something. He could have behaved better than he did; he went out of his way to keep certain neighborhoods down.
OK, how's the weather in your area????.........
purl - again, i gotta say, i think the elder daley was interested in actaully managing his city - that's why the title "boss" - he always lived in the same bungalow in bridgeport, he didn't drive a big fancy car & he didn't flaunt any wealth that may have crossed his greased palm - i think the comparison to sadam is outrageously unfair
LOL, Pida! Very nice fall day here.
and the apologists got favors
lol pida beautiful 80's here
weather-non-controversial! nice day today :-)
he was a ruthless autocrat
wow..theres so much id love to say... but i refuse to get into politics in the chat for fear of offending anyone
em7/32 please
LOL lib
good choice there has been heated discussion all day
I hear ya, chj!
Can anyone help me with the K's a little bit? I have ka 4,9 and 4,8 and another 4,8
:-D
I have decided to not "worry my pretty little head" chj ( : I just give lots of money to charities that get missed because of politics lol
the who did a song callled em****ce front + cross
to - i may have to go back & read chat log then - i love a good heated discussion, esp. when those who you argue with are amenable to the 'agree to disagree' clause
Thanks chj.
I need one of the last k4/8 too
CHJ, that flew right over my head! front?
clue clue lol
ankh - They are all 4/8 and 4/9 and all start with ka
Darn, AngB, thanks.
The last one ending is opp to off
huh - clearly then i lived in the 'favored' neighborhoods, one northwest, one near south, i only ever saw things getting done
Ca ** & Abel
candy Ka**
the one b4 it is a candy **** spelt with ka
rapper em***m + to lease is to re**
hello, I"m back for a few more
you got ka**
Ah! Got it now, CHJ! Thanks!
and getting done I assume means being on the receiving end of a police baton in 1968..... truly a stallar moment in US politics
hiya harp - who is your scandal? i can't make her out, fawn hall?
the state can seize property by em***** domain...
How abohte the Japoanese guys who got Pearl Harbor? ka 4/9 ends with the stick vowel
I ka** I saw I conquered
purl - like i said, he was ill-equipped to deal with those turbulent, changing times, i remember watching that on tv, but hey, when you were seeing kids actaully get killed in vietnam every day, what's a little clubbing?
culinary question--if you are making cinnamon rolls, and discover that you have added WAY to much sugar to the dough--do you 1. add more flour, 2. do nothing and thank your lucky stars that as long as you are eating sweets, they are going to be REALLY sweet, or 3. something else?
LOL, AngB, that's a good one... veni vidi one; but I think the Pearl Harbor fellows would have had a "z" if they had crash-landed their planes...?
I like #2, Jane, unless you can double the other ingredients too.
i agree with ankh - #2
The term had two words ka** ka** for the Jap blokes ... its the first part
Hi everyone. I agree - use #2 Jane
I would increase all the other ingredients proportionately
will keep you posted. the church choir kids will eat ANYTHING, of course...
Oh, duh, Ang, of course you're right -- sorry! My brain gets stuck. :)
Just go ahead and cook them the way they are Harp. Better sweet, than not at all. And don't forget to invite us over
There is a ka 4/11 - Think coffee shop - drop the last vowel and plural
to my knowledge there werent any ka**kazi pilots at pearl harbor...just bombers...the ka**kazis came later in wwii
Oh the myths of WWII
hi all!
Yeah, CHJ, I think you're right but it was close enough to get to the clue for me. :) IF I hadn't looked at the word backwards, LOL!
so, soldiers getting killed in viet nam was the precedent leitimizing "a little clubbing" for those that wre trying to get the soldiers home..... wow WOW
In England they started the runour that carrots helped you see at night as they had an oversupply of carrots
i think it's ka** kaze
except I added 1/2 cup when it should have been 1 Tablespoon, so I would have had to increase everything seven times.....
Hi Fran
the pearl harbor expert arrives
hi angb!
omg - purl - buy a little sense of humor, would ya? i was being slightly sarcastic, but still there was quite a bit a desensitization going on at that time & please stop making this black & white, it's not & i never said it was
open a cinnamon roll stand?
Purl & Helen, you can write me @verizon.net (at least, I hope you can, it's a new account) and we could continue this there?
wow, harp, those are going to be sweet!! lol
lol I agree Fran
LOL harp
hee hee hee.....
Has everyone got the k's now? Fran the K queen is here and would probably love to clue what you are missing!
Harp, think I'll pass because of my diabetes - but they sound delicious.
i have three words left, all Ts and all 6s and my monkeys are on strike apparently
I probably should have added flour to the dough, it's going to be a bit soupy I think....
no I am missing one of the last k4/8
angb, it sounds like they are under control
thanks ankh, but i'm done here with this topic now - i just blame pida's icon for starting all this :)
i have all the k's yay!!!!!
Heya, Fran, I'm still missing two K's despite some fabulous clues
okay, here they are
LOL, Helen, okay! :)
Sounds nasty Fran - sounds like your game is "going down the to6/18" ... as we say here
ka +opposite of off
ka4/11, ka*tan*, loose flowy clothes
lol, helen-- note how quickly I changed icons...

our old icon
although hester is kind of a poster girl for clergy abuse...
ka4/9 sounds like i ca**, i saw, i conquered
that's just plain wrong, period!
ka4/9, ka**kaze pilots from Japan
I meant dirty woody...
te6/21 10 + san l*** obispo

really hetty, I used to when I was young, used to give me belly ache if I scrumped too many lol
Charlotte -- go to "my account" and add your country to get a little flag next to your name. That is free. A picture next to your name means you pay about $15 to be "pro"
Thanks, Chris. Why didn't I think of that? Now allI need is one little un4/6
Bodkinz, the site has taken the picture down but at least I nabbed the thumbnail, thank you again for wading through all that!

i vote we rename cations and an5s femions and mascions. students would learn chemistry better if they could think of atomic bonding as having sexual connotations.
tuist is that a new word?
shorty... it is the enable game... you spell words funny ways.
gramma - you mean the 5/18? query + 2 vowels
Good idea. I also wanted to use the word "femail" as a mailman who's a woman.

I am back.
Bye, mkl.
Whew - I thought I had made Hurshy mad!
Hello, Stidmama, byt the way.
11 to go
hi Vi. oh -- I just realized my icon is not for today. . .
No floats in this grid.
hurshy has been maaaad for years
okay, this is better.
Are we talking insane, or angry?
insane
hence the extra a's
what means this "no floats". is this a metaphor? poetic license? clue?
I am going to NYC in Nov!!
ick, why
what fun, its!!! the occasion?
(stid and hurshy have opposite attitudes toward life, clearly)
Is there some scandal connected with the Babble t-shirt?
il 5/12 please
scandal? 8O
That's today's theme, no?
I would not care to go to NYC myself, except to visit a friend who lives there... but I know that many people enjoy it. Personally, I avoid anything east of the Cascade mountains...
today's theme is scandal?
il5.12 ends in you and me
i go get my lewinsky pic?
ty-was my next guess lol
scandal is the theme, but since I am overwhelmed by real scandals, I am ignoring it! (such heretical attitude toward the theme may be scandalous in and of itself...)
We are just going for fun! eating at the tavern on the green and shopping on 5th avenue!
il plus the ***tacion tube to the ear
il plus the ***tacion tube to the ear
il plus the ***tacion tube to the ear

Oh my, I've heard THAT excuse before, Purloined!
I like going to Seattle with my mother. Wish I had a daughter to share those times with. Take the boys occasionally, but they aren't as into looking at pretty clothes!
Hi everyone
I have others?
hi hodag
Hi Hodag
anyone wishing to suggest weirdest N, M, F, L, T (or A), is very welcome to.
You want fa5/16?
lu6.21

hi stidmama and lynxxx
10 points lynxxx!

(No, just 2 fa5/16's)
to6.21
Hey everyone - Who's finished and just giving clues?
really zooming along... I have only 103 to go!
Evening, all. How's the grid today? I'm thinking of diving in for a while.
10 points lynxxx!
Hey licketysplit!
hi lickety!
hi gwen!

it's not a bad grid -- lots of familiar babblets.
Hiya Lickety. An Australian - tell me has daylight saving started and if so what is the time now pls
**splash**
Hey it, stid, everyone, Time here is 9:37am - and no - daylight savings hasn't kicked in yet.
Thanks - must be next w'end
lynxxx, may i have a clue for this to6/21?
ours starts the last Sunday of this month, I think.
nvm, pulled a peri.
Are there four times zones across Australia?
ooh, daylight savings almost forgot...
to6.21 end in the seven deadly
lynxxx - I only just got up - maybe it did kick in? Purloined - there is only really 1 timezone - but some states have daylight savings at different times of the year
but Tasmania started daylight savings the first of this month apparently...?
Love it actually - more sun, more light at night
Is Daylight savings time tonight?
no shorty
No, shorty. US is next weekend
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_A ustralia
tion
Thats what I thought thank you
I was wrong - there are 3 times zones. I'll be
Daylight Saving Time begins for most of the United States at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of April. Time reverts to standard time at 2:00 a.m. on the last Sunday of October. In the U.S., each time zone switches at a different time.
And 5 at daylight savings time - WOW
Maybe I will be here for the start of the next puzzle, I love doing that!
i have 3 te, i have 6 tu, how many more of either of those do i need?
how is the grid tonight?
In AUS : last Sunday in October at 2:00 am is when it clicks over.
as large as Australia is I figured at least as many as in the US
TY Lickety
Gotta love wikipedia
TE *6 TU*6
all te's! thanks lynxx
lynxxx - I might need your help soon, I've got a fantastic idea that I'm implementing and I'm in the need of recruiting people to give Advice.

well it is NOT my real name.
okay, I have SOOOO got to stop doing that!
i know, i get that. but if you want to be called it, i would have thought you would pick it for your screen name.
well I wasn't thinking.
like if i wanted people to call me adele, instead of hurshy, i could have called myself adele. sorry, i'm just an overly curious person. obviously, it does not matter at all.
nice to meet you angela.
no 4/5; no 5/10; no 4/5; no 4/5; no 4/5
you too hurshy.
ummm--hate to interfere, but can't itsonme do what she wants? No big deal?
am5/12 has to do with fluid around baby
thanks adele
of course she can do what she wants. as i said, i am overly curious. i like to examine the workings of things, including people's thought processes. it was in no way an objection, merely an investigation, and lol lynxxxx :) (it was my name in french class in high school!)
there. I changed my age,
so tell me, angela... what was living through WWII like?
Evenging everyone - Hi hurshy!!
It was pretty sweet.
ok that answer is soooo not gonna fool anyone, you need more practice.
I think not itsonme. Hi circe
I need 1 C...I have, 4 4/5s

And "filk" was a word yesterday, but the grid would not allow it
bonjour comentaple (I cannot spell it!) toi
