hi kronok welcome to Babble land. AngelSong's Babble Page has lots of goodies as does lickety's babble clues, under Friends of Babble
welcome kronok -- check out babbler for dummies under 'friends"
Got my icon
Jim Carrey said "***** me, O mighty *****r of ****ing!"
I would be lost without lickety's clues. I'm hoping to upgrade soon. Having the tile stats helps a lot.
hello kronok, I think the best advice I can give you is, just try your best, there is lickety's list if you get stuck, it gives you the first two letters of each word in the grid
Amen to what Colhad said, kronok...and hello everyone...
gidday Douglas
okay, i have my icon clue.
hi Douglas
hi douglas!
hi colhad!
Hello Colhad, muse and Fran
how's life treating you Fran
Is the theme one of the words in the grid?
yes douglas
pretty good colhad, didn't think i was going to finish the last grid.
neither did I
I didn't finish the last grid, only got as far as 24 and got sick of it
well GG, you were down to the wire!
it was quite a fe4/7!
Douglas! My name is also Douglas, and I'm from Fargo ND! Midwest, REPRESENT!
Back with a theme-based icon...
it still is giving me a rush that I did it...
this grid seems rather easy "touch wood" :)
there's a c4/10 with no vowels
douglas, first letter of your icon word please?
oh nvm!
I have it already hugabugs
The Pharisees tithed off the m4/5 that grew in their gardens, but neglected justice, mercy and faith...
wade
thanks hugs! our favorite scrabble word that we refuse to use!
hi hi - how's the grid, folks?
hi hugs!
fran - i went to go get my icon & i saw what you picked in the google images - i didn't know what it was when i clicked on it though - gotta try again now
thanks douglas! i thought it might have been a w4 also.
compared to yesterday - it's a good one!
hi krys!
In an alternate reality, Worf and Troi *****
is it the cw without any vowels?
hi fran! I didn't check in yesterday, so I have no comparison...
how funny, we picked the same word hk?

Hi smooth!

Thanks mymuse I did not have that one
Spain was amazing. I'm acutally looking for english speaking schools there so I can do my graduate there. And just in case I can't, I'm going to take spanish next semester.
which i guess muse found already!
lol Fran
Hey that's awesome!
Tiny, you have another word in your profile...another word for...
yea. i just hope I can get enough spanish in one semester to be able to study there. I had a couple years in high school, so I have a head start, and will just have to memorize as much as i can before the fall.
OOps sorry I will fix it now
Wow, you're going to be tri-lingual.

Hi Angb
Hi saphyre
cwad
How embarassing!
nahh we all do it eventually
Yes, but not such dopey words normally!
I have 26 left - no list, no watching clues tonite. I'm rather pleased but think it must be an easy grid.
be back in a bit!
4 left, all t's
ok Fran
good job Angb - I still have 50 to go
see ya fran
good evening all
hi Andree
Hi Andree
32 left, might have to get list soon, have lasted longer than usual without it, words flow nicely in this one
Yes, I am at a standstill too.
me too, 13 left and I think I'll take a peek at the list.
time to lok at the list at 59 words
Clues for 6 letter words da6/27, you''be da6/27 if you do, you'll be da6/27 if you don't, de6/30, you lose, de6/24, jeans, et6/21 a soft cotton, ga6/27, you've achieved something, ga6/27, an entry to a farm or yard, ga6/27 a neglected girl who is left to run about the streets, he6/33 to lift something heavy, in6/21 someone you live with in the slammer, mi6/24, flavour for chewing gum, sn6/33 sounds like a noise you make while asleep, sq6/30 police, sq6/30 a scale or scalelike part, as of epidermis or bone, ta6/18 sounds like the fungus that grows between your toes, but there's an extra vowel in there, ti 6/21, a character out of Wizard of Oz. Hope everyone can make sense of them, some were copied and pasted from the meaning, others I've just done my best to describe them
can i point out that it is a bit rude to mass clue when not asked thanked
why is it, I've seen other people do it
avert your eyes infernal - I did. But TY Colhad I can go back to your clues in the chat when I need them.
by the way - hi everyone - just here for a bit! what a lovely little grid it is too!
Hi lynxxx
I thought people would find it handy that there are clues, I know when I get stuck, I need clues, so I am just doing what I would like done for me :)
hi Lynxxx
I'm done...
well done douglas
awesome Douglas
oh Douglas - congrats!
yes handy but its iritating when its just a small grid and i have been umm bitched at for asking 5 clues before
hi lynxx and congrats douglas
Thanks to all for the help...*poof*
well, I did the clues for everyone's covenience, I guess you could always choose not to look at the clues, in a short while you'll have to go into the chat logs to see them
oh Douglas is gone! (no cryptic clues from him then) guess it is on Colhads shoulders if we want any clues!
no i shouldn't as this is a little grid, then again i might need to eat mu words too
thx colhad, we don't need to look if we don't want to
hi lynxxx
Hi Saphy
lest we all forget it's just a game....
ok, I won't do anymore mass clues again, I'll only give out one or two at a time, this will keep everyone happy :)
Oh no ... is it LOL
fast becoming a way of life for me
last I checked....
Colhad - continue as you will.
Fireworks! Goodnight everyone!
Colhad - I'm not really ready for clues but I'm sure I will need them at some point so thanks !
congrats & good night SweetTooth
though it seems to have morphed into something else tonight....Tower of Babble, perhaps!!
nope, won't do it anymore, it's ok, I don't want to upset anyone, I like to think I can be friends with you all, so if something upsets someone, then I'll stop doing it, no hard feelings folks :)
Infernal - can you pls give it a rest. I think you are the one actually being rude by being so critical of other players. You have made your point over 2 days now, we get your drift so there is no need to keep going on about it. Sorry I wouldn't normally say such things but Colhad is too nice a bloke to be 'put upon'.
besides - sometimes the smaller grids are a lot tougher than the monster grids
I'm with you lynxxx
You can also shrink the chat box if you don't want to see the clues. Or...avert your eyes!!
I have to agree lynxxx
sorry to butt in but im with lyn as well!!
i havent said a word in 10 min im doing the puzzle so back off. I love how paid people think they own everyone and everyones thoughts. Its ok for paid people to tell rude jokes and be mean. I have had the chat box covered for ten min
naa, she's right folks, nothing to argue over :)
and thx col, just took a peek, never would have got ta6 without your great clue
I'm not a "paid person" and I agree with Lynxxx
I don't think it has anything to do with "paid people"
this is hilarious
where the pay{ lining up}
girlfriday u always get on dont you lol
well i have made a complaint about a paid member and nothing was done yet i got booted
let's all shake hands, infernal included, drop the whole thing :)
anyway continue as you will im doing the puzzle an watching smallville
so I guess that makes all paid people bad huh? ughh
hi again everybody!
hello Fran
hey Fran

hi fran
no i didn;t say that hi fran, shakes cols hand
hi scoot
morning sootica
Hi Fran
infernal - stop being such a bitch. jesus. all members are welcome here and whatever clues they want to post is fine also. there is no "moderator" to dole out rules and such. maybe it's time you go to bed.
hi col, andree, infernal, sootica!
hi lynxxx!
lol, what have I started, c'mon folks, cheer up, just a game :)
Like I said....but I must admit this is ridiculously amusing....better than letterman!
herin, why don't you join
what you been doing today fran
no your fault col
i just got the baby to sleep so i can finish the grid
colhad - from what i've seen - which isn't much since i just logged on and did some words on my own before i checked in on the chat - you are being kind and helpful - clues are always welcome. it's like tv - if you don't like it, don't watch.
I meant not your fault col
Franny, maybe what we need is a V-chip!
hey fran how old is bub
girlfriday, don't knock David Letterman ;)
Or rather a B-chip!
Have to go now folks. Enjoy the rest of the grid if you are still going! See you tomorrow
later lynxxx!
bye lynxxx
I know, but you must admit this was at least as funny as stupid pet tricks!
herin, i asked why haven't you joined
the baby is 17 months old infernal
letterman went to my alma mater - or should i say, i went to his - Ball State. i even had a job in the department he started a scholarship - Telecomm. it was for all the "C" students like him :)

the cw4/10 doesn't have any vowels - if that helps!!
saintfranny, last night dave "predicted" that the ball state cardinals would beat the wolverines 6-0, and if he was wrong he would pay every person in the stadium a nickel.
ohmigosh. so what happened?
nite gf, got your clue ok saph, just took me a while to find the right combination
the game is this weekend i think, we'll see...i'm sure he's serious
good lord. thanks mari! would never have gotten it otherwise
yw!
that dave. such a card. haha - ball state cardinals, get it. har har
it was funny because he was making a lot of jokes about how uneven the match up was.
bbl
sorry - my cat woke me at 4 am and i'm goofy when sleep deprived. ok, i get it - dont really follow any sports
he said the wolverines play in a huge stadium, the cardinals have to play in some old lady's back yard. lol
lol
Good morning all. A tiddler compared to yesterday!
just thought since it was your alma mater you would find that amusing.
hi haz!
be back when I get home from work - later all
Hi & Bye Haz
later saphyre!
Hi Haz
quat
well i have no clue about the other school, but when i visited BS two years ago, was amazed at some of the improvements on campus. oh boy... bringing back 'screwdriver'-hazed memories... going to the football field with the Sigma Tau Gammas... drinking oj and vodka out of a wineskin, going back to my room and enjoying room spins for the first time. OY
Bye saphyre - and hello rosalind.
sorry
yes, thanks for the story Fran... i actually just added Dave to my Tivo tonight, since i knew Rosie would be on
i'm actually watching it right now. sounds like you had a great time in college! ;-)
haha. well, can't believe i was that person now (ahem - Quite a few years since all this) but being in a sorority did have its advantages. :) funny thing is, i dropped out and went back to school at IU and did None of that - lived off campus, just went to class and did my thing and thank dog - graduated.

Well done hannah - and have a good day.
how sad is it i Do have a college degree and the 13 yr old Always finishes, in record time i might add, and i rarely do!
but what a brilliant mind Hannah Sue has. well done
Hannah is going to represent Britain in the Babble world championships. She's on a special fish diet.
LOL
her synapses are still firing fast and playing babble has probably put some new ones in place!
good point
meanwhile...some of us (including myself) had way too much "fun" in college. :-)
te5/12 please
andree, i still need a bunch of Ts, my te5/12 is a plural
well my bossy beagle has awoken and demanding to be fed and i've hit my own version of fireworks - have just over half the grid done. a worthy goal, yes? :) check ya all later on

thx fran, i just found it, will I never learn to look for plurals
bye franny
Icon has been updated
good one fmitch!
Very good! There's no mystery about that one....
Thank you both
The afternoon performance is there, but enable won't accept 'gite'. I would have thought enough visitors use them every year for it to be recognised?
Gite was one of the first words I tried and was surprised being French and all :)
Fran is yr icon the s5/24?
yes fmitch!
I almost chose that word. Lovely depiction of the word Fran.
thanks!
my phantom is "sea cow"
Thanks FMitch for the en clue !!

Ah but not as cold as here - minus three on the terrace this morning Fran
Good morning, jakes-mum.
OOPS so sorry grovel grovel
um, i don't think we should trade weather then!
BRB phone call
morning Haz, how are you this extremely chilly morning?
I'm fine - I've got the winter woollies on and am hoping that the early morning mist will clear soon.
we've got no mist over here, but am still sitting in the office with my coat on (you would have thought I would have had the sense to turn on the heater by now)
You'll start getting into the habit! The cold is something of a novelty at the minute and we haven't got ourselves attuned to winter yet.
No mist here but there was a heavy frost in the forest this morning
oh dear and I thought it was cool today 24 degrees
bye all will finish tomorrow
Bye Andree
morning all
Bye Andree - sleep well.

i just keep wanting to put a "ing" on he4/8, but thta won't work.

ty sha
yw kth
thanks sha and haz, got the he 6 outta it too!
there are some very odd letters it the top half of this grid, I can't see how there can be any words from that D unless they are made up!
No - there are words, they've appeared before in babble.
kth = de5, then plural for the other one.

I don't like these small grids so much, everyone finishes up and leaves and there's not much chatting going on, the big ones are more fun cause everyone is around helping eachother

Hi Lain. I like 150-180 words or so. Just right. Not too time-consuming. Not too overwhelming.

Ahem! ...We Babblers shall go on to the end, we shall find words in France, we shall find words on the seas and oceans, we shall find words with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our word list, whatever the cost may be, we shall find words on the beaches, we shall find words on the landing grounds, we shall find words in the fields and in the streets, we shall find words in the hills; we shall never surrender....

Hi, mrp
Hi mrp
i officially announce that the C word is stootid!
all c words are stoopid!
Evan - c4/10 is Welsh for 'valley'.
im a fan of vowels in my words...
ok, done and dusted! gotta go sleep! as it is 1am Saturday! NITE!!
It was a 'c' word that caused controversy yesterday.
Evan - 'w' is a vowel in Welsh - 'oo'.
nite, mrp!
nite, mrp
hey all I'm back from lunch
THAT should not have been im there and accepted
'Bye MrP.
BYE!!
interesting and good to know... rather curious though as why a welsh word is in the grid since its not english...
oh no I hope we're not arguing about that stupid word still!
na, i am dropping it
Let's not start that again!
Hi kthdsn. No, the 'c' word today is Welsh for valley.
i said i was dropping it...didnt get a cance to complain yesterday someone brought it up and i did...so sorry

en5/10 sorry
ahhh... "a mystery wrapped in an EN6..."
hi guys... home sick today. Just had to interject that the en6 was note a code breaking machine, but a code machine used by the Germans
en5/10 = plural of thing/entity.
minor detail, I know, but wanted to clarify
Jen - You are right. Thanks for pointing it out.
Jen - hope you feel better soon.
ok, got the EN6 and the EN5/10 then

Hello FMitch - I was looking in the log there - I hope you didn't smoke any of that joint, you having given up smoking and all?
30. not counting the et6
Hey Haz, all that talk of smoking made me a bit twitchy but I was strong :)
Glad to hear it - you wouldn't want a relapse!
Very occasionaly I do get a real pang for a ciggie but the feeling goes away as quickly. I just have to remember it was a heavy addiction.
When husband was in Vancouver he visited the 'Bodyworks' exhibition (von Hagen) and was very impressed. The smoker's lung would put anyone off, he felt.
No quat! TCH!!!
isn't it qat? so we can't get that one in babble?
Hello, all, seemed topical to the tobacco discussion. I really think I really dislike the Enable wordlist. Grrr.
Qat, qhat, kat, khat are all acceptable in Scrabble proper.
Er... not sure about qUat, now that I think about it. *blush*
but not quat! :) lol
it's not in morewords, and morewords has EVERYTHING
Haz that must have been quite some exhibition
*still blushing!*
lol, i don't see why ankh, it's a weird word no matter how you slice it
He had to queue for an hour so time was limited but he thought it was fantastic.
HA! I'm wrong & right! Sowpods permits qUad, but NOT qHad. http://members.shaw.ca/costa/sowpods. txt

Hello abe!

Hi Stid, April, and Haz
The nice thing, abe, is that the tiles get grey out fairly quickly. Yesterday's was a marathon in comparison.
after yesterday's grid, *I* seem tiny Abe!
Haz- I can see that! I was so happy yesterday when I grayed out the "O" box with one word! LOL Stid
"femina" just won't work, no matter how many times I try... maybe my fingers need a break!

I am thinking you are not dairy-averse, April!
okay daisy, just a sec...
people think when you want sugar free you want fat free, and that simply isn't the case
Lawsy me, I want sugar and fat and salt... probably usually not all at once.
well, if it's not decaf for me, sugar or no doesn't matter... sends me higher than a kite on meth.
^ puts salt on chocolate ^

how do you compare tea and coffee?
how do you compare tea and coffee?
how so, unforgiven?
Compare them? By caffeine count, or price, or...?
tea is easier on the stomach than coffee
Some teas are supposed to be good for you, anti-cancer and such?
I compare teas and coffees by how well each cleans battery terminals.
Coffee just found to help stop incidence of Diabetes Type II.
ankh- really? wow
daily coffee intake is not considered healthy
actually, that evidence is changing
i think it depends how much you have.
well i dont know the connection with diabetes though, i meant a connection with the caffeine.
such a funny conversation you guys are having
caffeine is considered one of the most addictive drugs, i know that
hi all, no hope for me then cos i drink lots of tea and coffee!!
yeah exactly, the 'how much' matters
The diabetes thing was on the news last night, I'll see if I can find it
it's almost impossible to quit. i am living proof of that
http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2006/ s1780337.htm
thanks ankh!
I was drinking a six-pack of diet coke every day; doctor had a FIT and forced me to quit cuz I was getting nasty symptoms... so I guess it's the symptoms that got me to quit, not the doc, LOL!
mmmm. diet coke...
I drink caffeine free diet coke, and i am now told by my DENTIST that its just as bad for me health wise. You cant win
Fireworks once more...
I tried Coke once; didn't like it
Here, even better, compares coffee & tea http://coffeetea.about.com/od/heal th/a/healthdiabetes.htm
YAY Angel!
yay angel!!
Oh, Spanner, I fear my dentist....
Hiya angel
brill, Angel!
Yay Angel
I only have about three diet cokes a week now, down from about 42. Well, not 42; let's say about 36.
hi, Spanner
Spanner- that's disappointing! (the dentist part)
I used to till I got enough courage to ask to see another one in the same practice and shes ace
Why is it that all the yummiest things are bad for us
ank- i had a roommate with a "diet coke" habit. she drank at least 2 liters a day. spanner- it's just not fair!
i have the ma7...is the other a de?
^^ sniveling dental coward ^^
its not, dark chocolated are good for the heart
If god meant us to be good why did he invent calories
So is red wine....
its not, dark chocolated are good for the heart
Abe, in college, there was a woman who used to have a beer and a joint BEFORE she'd even get out of bed! Lived down the hallway from me; was famous.
we need to change topics before i go bust into the leftover halloween candy and bottle of wine in the kitchen
*chocolate
Rolin, I don't have either of those. Oh, Abe, I understand....
rolin - the other 7 is he pl of the 6
ankh- wow. makes coffee and tea seem kind of boring, lol
sorry rolin, no 7's for me yet
Sometimes, it is very appropriate to remind doctors, dentists and other professionals that you have hired them. They tend to forget you are paying the bill and deserve respect!
If its red wine you can drink it while thinking what a favour you are doing yourself....
hmm..thx
Yeah, but that was 20 years ago; not sure she still graces this mundane earth. I should have said "notorious" instead of famous; I think she smoked tobacco also.
i'll be doing a favor to all of us :)
Should we thank you abe???

Nah not dense!!
Hi can I please have a clue for the last sq?
Okay, we'll put it out there: DUMBette!
The last sq is the name given to a native American woman. (sq5/24)
Lara, a term for a Native American woman now considered a great insult.
lara it's the same as the 5/16, just replace the last consanant with one that's worth more points
thanks
no no no scarlet ..... these grids just do that at times
et6/21 please
Thanks to Wolvie and Eggcorn, I am saved from total humiliation... again.
Is it? What is the reason for it being considered an insult now?
lol - I don't think it's that bad, Scarlet.
et 6 -- greek letter and part of an hour
Haz, linguists did some research and found out the word, in the Native language it came from (maybe Algonkian, I don't recall) means "vagina" so...
So it boils down to calling a woman the dirty c word from yesterday's grid.
Ah, now I understand.
I think most people don't/didn't know that, and so just thought it mildly offensive, like saying "injun," but apparently... anyway, that's all I know. :)
In my ignorance I thought it was just an English rendition of the native language's word for woman. You live and learn.
I can't get that clue. The only greek letter I'm find that starts with an "e" is an ep, not et
There are articles that try to debunk the offensive meaning saying the etymolgy is wrong and squaw is not offensive
he6s and he7 anyone please
a clue please for ma5/22 please?
et6/21 - et plus Uganda's former dictator, Idi.

Anyone got the top three he's? The two 6s and the 7?
sally, lifted, gangster killer and plural
Hello hello hello. Dropped in to see if anyone needs a clue or two.
hi mkl
Thanks Ib but none of that rings a bell with me.
sally - if you have he 4/8 - past tense it
he 6/24 - someone hired to assasinate someone, change first vowel - then plural for the 7
Sally he6,23 Past tense of he4/8 (To lift)
may I have a clue for am 5-12 the last one please?
alternatively for the he 6/24 - some would say that someone who is wound up and angry is he* up, use the he* and add singular male
To do with the sack in the womb
am+hump letter + 3rd and 1st vowels
Well, doesn't look like too many people need clues. See you at the flip
later mkl
hi, all....
ty
hi pam
en 6-27 separates me from firework, help please
hi, lbd
Kahula - en6 = mystery or German code machine.
en6/27-- a puzzle, mystery
the codebreaker
ty all

yay, kahlua
Just popped on to say thanks to whomever was playing WebBoggle with me as Team Babble.

Hi pam.

pbr - in6 = prison dweller.
just got it!! thanks anyway oo 42 more to go
y/w, pbr.
evening Jacula -- by the way I'll be back in the UK for christmas -- going to York
Hello Babblers! just returned to the grid, 64 left, is it hopeless I wonder? I'm really hung up on the am ones...
hi, relarion
pbr - Nice place to be at Christmas.
Hi relarion.
Hi Jac, pbr.
relarion - am + Scottish word for 'own' as in 'my *** folk'.
a4/5 - a + Miss Farrow (once married to Woody Allen).
am5/16 - old computer make.
Thanks, got the Farrow one.
am4/5 - African despot, Idi Am**.
am5/12 - you get coal or gold out of a m***.
That one I had, plus that one with vowel added...
am5/12 - variation on am**otic fluid that surrounds a baby in the womb.
That's all of the am words.
Thanks Jacula, am still puzzling on the last one and computer and Scottish, arghh...
1st am 5/12 = a + m*** road or m*** man.
am5/16 (computer) - think of Spanish/Mexican friend and change last vowel.
Ah, got the fluid and the road/man, I was going from the wrong direction! Thx.
For last am5/12 (baby fluid), think a + Miss Farrow but add a consonant before her vowels.
Got 'em all, you're a pal.
y/w, relarion.
relarion - just read your profile. The dog is a tap dancer called Bunny Briggs? Clever mutt! Also laughing re the hubby Babble thing.
Oh, whoops, let me fix that before I go on! Bunny Briggs was there when dancers were theme of the day. BRB.
LOL, relarion. Okay.
I need a clue for cw 4.10 please
msilver - it is the Welsh word for 'valleys'.
Oh....I don't know
cw - a a word feminists use instead of miss or mrs.
*means cw + a word...
Got it yet, msilver?
Thx. I just looked it up in the reverse dictionary. If I'm going to cheat, I may as well cheat all the way. Thank you for the clue.
y/w, msilver.
I have time to clue because I am waiting for my daughter to come home. She went out at just before 3 am to pick her b'f up from a night out with his mates... she's texted me to say to take the chain off the door as she's coming home. Didn't sound too happy. Hope she is not bringing 'off his face' b/f here.
Have a bucket & a rolling pin ready, just in case....:(
Oh, bummer, Jacula. At least she's keeping in touch.
I am stuck on one of the sq6/30 I have squ *** (leaving hospital without approval)
pbr do you have the firing sq + plural?
sq6/30 that isn't the 'teams' one is a platelike growth on skin or bone. (Rhymes with what a play is or a dr*** queen.)
Hi Ren. What are you doing in the Bahamas??
hahahah mistress - that's where i used to live - and nut and i decided we wanted to live other places

anike - de4/6 - not alive. de5/14 - plural of that. de4/5 - Church official. de5/12 - plural of that. de4/5 - reverse of what the golfer did word (**** off). de6/30 - to beat in competition or battle. de4/8 - quick and adept. de5/14 - jeans material. de6/24 - plural of the jeans word. de4/5 - what happens to your car when you hit it. de5/20 - de + pale & ashen. de6/33 - plural of that.
Fran. Okay.
I was going yo e-mail you the link Fran, but realised I don't have your e-mail add.

YAY dilly!!!
Original e bay ad reads thus: To go to loving home only, used for less than a week and ready for new owner. I have found that I am not suited to this cold and I am willing to let it go so it may bring light into someone else’s life. This cold will be ready for use any time between day 1 and day 60, please be patient as it can take a few days to adapt to it's new owner. I will also include 2 pieces of toilet roll for containment. See my other items Aching limbs Temperature Dull throbbing headache An addiction to Trisha… Also … coming soon - my friend's flu. (due to a complaint about the higher price on the P&P of 80p - I have reduced it to 30p although this may be at a loss to myself as we all know that some Ebay sellers have to charge more as they live miles from any Post Office and have to use so much petrol hence the ridiculous P&P costs!)
anike, a + m***sail
Fran - I'll mail you the link shortly.
am/12 with force
that's hilarious jacula!
so it is - I kept assuming that I'd already done that one - told you my brain was out to lunch
Congratultions dilly on your fireworks! Good for you!
Fran - the Q & As are even funnier.
ty Minver
Well done, dilly.
et6/21 is et + vit**** (A, B, C, D, etc.)
Minver - saw you playing WebBoggle earlier.
ty jacula - I had been ouy playing bridge, so it became a race.
Yes,I was at least attempting to play. Not very good at it though. I got 56 points today. I play until I can get at least 50 points or more. Not as fun as babble.
I just put in the et word by accident - pure guess but thanks Franmag - all finished so can do some washing now
I'm playing Scrabble Blast online right now. Like that one too. I'm addicted to 5 different computer games.
yay anike!!!
Congratulations anike on finishing the grid! Hooray!!
Well done, anike.
good for you anike
Incidentally, I sent Haz a pic of my 3' 3" pile of ironing earlier today. She was gob smacked.
Thanks for your help everyone, Seeya
bye anike!
Goodbye anike! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log!
The laundry basket is full again. I must find time to do some ironing tomorrow before the pile gets taller than I am.:(
Last ti 6/21 please.
Shannon - one of Dorothy's companions in The Wizard of Oz.
Jac, I copied and pasted that Ebay thing into an email to my guy and my stepson; I'm sure they'll love it!
i wear wrinkled clothes
(Compound word.)
I never would have got that on my own. TY. I have 2 left, the he 6/24 and 7/36, please
daisy - glad to hear you found some fun in it.
Shannon - he6 & plural 7 are compound 'male' words again... don't get he* up! Think of an assassin you might hire, a male...
Never mind, I got it. The ti clue helped with those too.
well done, Shannon.
Ren - if you want to be a scruff I can't stop you.;)
Happy firday Night, everyone!
Are You Addicted to The Internet? Here's a list of common symptoms to watch out for: 1. Lying about how much time is spent online. 2. General decrease of physical activity and social life. 3. Neglecting obligations at home, work, or school to spend time online. 4. Spending too much money on computer equipment or Internet activities. 5. Feeling a constant desire to be online when they're away from the computer. 6. Going online to escape real world problems. 7. Disregarding the emotional or physical consequences of being in front of a computer all day. 8. Denial of the problem. Another thing I got via e mail today.
hi TnC!
Hi TnC.
Hello TeanCrackers! How are you doing?Happy Friday!
jac, there's no "all of the above"
Hi, Fran, Hi, Jac, Hi, Mnver - how goes it?
LOL, Fran.
rennie, i hate ironing too!
it's going okay TnC!
Both kids are asleep, we had a relatively good day today, I finished this puzzle earlier, I'm ready for my workshop tomorow - not too bad!
Fran - when I checked the pic I'd sent to Haz of my ironing pile, I noticed some dust on the kitchen dresser in the pic. I went and got rid of it. Is that how I do my housework now??
ooooh, I hate ironing too, and have a bunch tog et done - yuck!
TnC, your kids are so cute!
they look like mine but flipped around, older boy, baby girl
jac, did i tell you what my son says every time we start tidying up?
thanks, that pic is a couple of months old, I need to download newer ones off of the camera. How far apart are your kids?
"Mommy, who's coming over?"
I hate ironing! I have a good excuse though; it's genetic. My mother's ironing pile is bigger than me, and that's just her stuff. She once gave me back a blouse she had finally ironed about 2 years after I'd got married. I think it had been in her ironing pile for 3 years. At least I do mine every week/fortnight.
27 months TnC.
how old are they?
baby is 17 months, son is going to be 4 in Feb.
hey! How's it goin'?
hi summer!
Hi, Fran!
jac, that's so funny re: the blouse!! rofl
My Mum told me yesterday that she was talking to someone about trousers always being too long for her and having to turn them up... (excuse me? It's ME who does that for her!) The person she was talking to said, 'Try Wundaweb,' (an iron on webbing to hold hems up). My Mum replied, 'Wundaweb? Oh no! I'd have to plug the iron in for that!'
Not too different than mine. Tea turned 3 in August and Crackers turned 1 in July
Hi, SUmmer
yeah, that's cool Tnc
Hi, T &C! Cute kids!
okay, hubby has just announced that we are all going to go pick up our Chinese take-out! see you all in a little bit!
Fran - LOL. My son once asked me, when we had guests, 'Mummy, why have we got a cloth on the table?'
kids just notice everything!! later!
Tanks, Summer - I just changed my icon to their Halloween pic.
Enjoy your egg-foo, Fran!
*Thanks
This icon is them with dad, the little cowboy was not too happy getting all spiffied up!
'Bye Fran. Enjoy your meal.
TnC - lovely pics.
I kind of guessed that....LOL
thanks, Jacula. they are my pride and joy, as well as my tears and exasperation!
TnC - Carries on as they age. That's why I'm still here at 5.02am (UK time). Stayed up for 19-yr-old daughter and now can't sleep!
It never ends....never....
oy! a friend of ours told us that you don't sleep much when they are babies because they need you and then you don't sleep much when they are older because they *don't* need you.
That is true, Summer.
TnC - that's spot on!
do you have kids, Summer?
very true,tnc
yes- four!
wow - my sister is pregnant with 3 and 4, due in late January. How old are yours?
I bow down to you, Summer! 4 children at 26? I was 27 when I had my 1st and almost 30 when I had my 2nd.
they are all out of the house now, but there's the phone and lots of worries still.....
My 'step' came along when I was about 46/47.
pfft. I was 33 with Tea and 35 with Crackers. "advanced maternal age" and all. ;)
Not 26 then, Summer?
TnC - when I had my 1st child at 27, the hospital notes described me as an 'elderly primigravida (first-time mother))!
Nope....I put that in by mistake.....46.....Gotts fix it....
Summer - that makes more sense.
*Gotta
it's crazy! they wanted to run a whole extra series of tests because I was turning 35 a month before he was born (2 weeks acutually). We told them no, thank you.
that's better, Summer
TnC - those tests can cause problems or even baby loss. Best not done unless absolutely necessary IMHO.
Hello everyone...
that was our reasoning.
Hi, Douglas
Hello Douglas.
Hello Tea...
I didn't notice that I put in a 8 instead of an 8....I was so excited while I was registering, my hands were shaking...Sounds silly, but truew!
Hello Jacula...
I eagerly await your witticisms, Douglas ;)
A 2 instead of a 4, Summer? LOL.
Kobe Bryant is not supposed to wear number 24...he's supposed to wear number 8
Is this US sports again, Douglas?
basketball, Jac
And Steve Nash is supposed to have dorky hair...He's had dorky hair for years...
Hello, all, just coming off a disappointing Scrabble experience, wah.
ROFL at myself...did it again...cannot touch-type the numbers....that's an 8 instead of a 6.....
What happened, Ank?
Yes...people don't play basketball in the UK, do they?
On the other hand, they bet on US basketball in the UK...
Douglas - a bit but not much.
Hi, Ankh
Waited so eagerly for 4th edition large-type Official Scrabble Players Dictionary to arrive... knew smutty words were removed... they also removed racial insults... and I approve, for school use. But for adults, a word's a word's a word, y'know? Also missing words I think should be in there... *sigh*
When I was in Edinburgh in May, the NBA Playoffs were starting, and I got odds on the playoffs, but didn't place a bet...
Think it's time I turned in. Family is safely gathered in, like the harvest. I hope my nice, warm, 'furry' man doesn't leap out of bed when I put my cold feet on his bum.
My perennial complaint about OSPD, and the Enable dictionary Babble uses. Where's the words!? OSPD doesn't even have "bling" !! Enable doesn't have "tech" !! and so on.
Very frustrating- I am surprised at that because ENABLE is so popular now....
Oh, dear, Jacula... that's what a fine furry man is for! :)
Oops! That shoud have read cold fe4/7.
good night, or good morning, Jacula - I agree, that's what furry men are for.
Ankh - this a a family site! LOL.
I'm mad that "ew" isn't a word...we say it all the time here....
Glad you agree, TnC.
Rose, who uses ENABLE besides this Babble game? Ew is a word in SOWPODS, the big international Scrabble word list.
Well, yeah, Jac, this is a family site, but remember cu** from yesterday's grid?
en6 and ta6 please?
Ankh - yes, 2nd word I found after sail. Took me ages to notice sailor though! 'Bye all. See you later.
^^ is whiny because Dear One is going away for two days and her fe** will FREEEZE!! ^^
I can only surmise that Dr_God is taking advantage of some software that is designed to search the Enable dictionary, because he's acted as if it would be quite a bit of work to use a different dictionary
Nighty-night, sleep warm, Jac.
TY, Douglas -- I should try to figure out how to petition the ENABLE gods, then.
Riddle me this, GreyWoulf...(oblique hint for the en6)
en 6 is a puzzle
en6 is a mystery, something unsolvable...
thanks TnC
hello, 19 to go
sorry Douglas -- missed your clue first
yw, grey. Hi harp
it would have worked for me as well
HI harp
Churchill: "Russia is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an en6"
End of Meso pota** with extra vowel after 'a'
What are you missing, harpjane?
Fireworks!!
yay, grey
Yay, Woulfe! WTG!
sm5,12 -- why no past tense? arrrggghgh
Thanks for the help -- Seb seems to have a seasonal transition related something that has him congested but not febrile so he is not sleeping well -- last night I got maybe 4 hours of very broken sleep as a result
Dear One got sm5,12'd by his boss this week...
because its past tense uses a different vowel in the middle
Just changed my icon to another hint
Sebastian? My godson's name.
the past tense of the sm just changes the central vowel and doesn't add a letter
it's smote, isn't it?
poor baby - both of ours are sick, congested, not sleeping well. I recommend a humidifier and the pedia care plug ins and sleeping upright if at all possible.
Hi GW, I don't know what I'm missint yet, but I wouldn't mind if you gave me the ta6 clue, it you have it
Kinda gruesome, Douglas. Yikes. Oh, txs, Rose, Woulf, Tea. Didn't get that. Doh!
Yes, smote is the past tense...
I thought it might be a Biblical "---eth" past tense.
End of Mesopota*** with extra vcowel after the "a"
That's cool, Ankh -- I seem to have a thing against names with less than three syllables for my children... at least for their first names
But "eth" is not past tense at all, is it? Hmm.
gw - baby vick's works wonders, too!
There are a few King James Versiony words in the dictionary, like thee and hast, f'rinstance...
I just got some TnC -- and I have raised the head of his crib by about 3 inches
But I haven't seen any past tense words in the dictionary ending in eth
I can't use the plug in vapors cos the scent would make mom sick and he sleeps in our room currently
You're right, Douglas.
we had wicked croup this time last year, in both kids, so I feel like we have done it all!
Woulf, my nieces are Olivia and Gabriella. Maybe Gabrielle. Hard to remember, neighbor had baby at same time, one-L Gabriel_ (e? a? I'll never get these kids sorted out)
we have the family bed, so we all benefit from the medicinal treatments for the kids - nothing like waking up smelling like a pharmacy when you are not even sick!
ta6 -- ta + short printers measure (sounds like the 14th letter) + two vowels
got it thanks
those are pretty names, Ankh - and different but not unusual.
I'd be afraid of squishing someone, "overlayment" as it used to be called.
3-syllable names would be an unbalanced meter in our family, as our last name only has one syllable...
Alas, even "Olivia" is surging in popularity. My beloved Sophie Marie (a dog, not a child) -- I was reeeeally indignant when I found out "Sophie" is zooming in popularity all of a sudden!
Ankh -- I wanted to name my daughter Gabriella but she didn't like it, also it is the same name as her cousin -- when she was born we had three names we couldn't decide amongst...
that was a concern in the beginning, but I nurse both of them and neither of them are great sleepers, so we had to find a compromise. You''d be amazed at what you notice in your sleep while sleeping with your kids.
douglas, your icon and mine are the same tonight...
Tea, I agree with you on that.
Two of my kids have three-syllable names, and our last name has one syllable- they sound fine to us....esp with middle names...and they all have nicknames anyway....
so when she held her for the first time, Mom called her by all three, the only one that she looked up for was Kristianna
I just changed mine, harpjane, to those on their way to heck...
that's perfect, Grey! My sister's name is Kristi Anne and DH has a cousin named Kristianne.
Kristianna is beautiful!
how old are they, Grey?
thanks Summer :) Kristianna is 3 this past Aug and Sebastian is only just 9 months last week
My dear wife and I did quite a bit of haggling over the name of our last child, Kathryn
Why the Y, Douglas?
I didn't realize until much later that Kathryn is the name of Captain Janeway on Star Trek Voyager...
The Y was my wife's idea...
perfect! Mine are 3 (in August, also) and 1 (in July) We named both of ours after grandparents
We also like the meanings behind Seb's names -- his middle name is Evan so it translates as "venerable young warrior"
Our secong daughter is Katharine- we did a lot of research, and found out that "Katie" comes from Katharine....which is what we call her...she has not forgiven us foir the two A's in her name, tho...
so Tea -- how defiant is Tea these days? Kristianna is in a rebellious phase that is driving us nuts right now
ok, douglas, I'll refresh!
Dear One's buddy's wife named their kids Ryan and Benjamyn, so I was interested in why-the-Y
What's her complaint with two a's, Summer?
6 to go, all d's. so far so good
go, Harpjane!
I have a tendency to call godson Bastian. Bastiano. He's living in Puerto Rico now...
Stuck on last word. in 6,21. Clues?
Tea (also known as Kemma Jospehine) is named after DH's paternal grandmother and my maternal grandmother. Crackers (also know as Graham Gerard) is named after my paternal grandfather and St. Gerard, as we almost lost him and me when I was 12 weeks pregnant with him and did lots of praying to St. Gerard.
I'm telepathically sensing that harpjane doesn't have the last two de's...
pdb, a prisoner
Where am I?
is the last he5 an hew** ?
thanks harpjane. I can't believe I missed that.
no, I have those douglas, just have to figure out what's missing....
In the Village...
We tend to call him either by his full name or Buddy Boy (and sometimes Budders), so we already know that we have doomed him to that nickname for life ;D
Tea is *awful* sometimes! I really think that it is the terrible threes, not the terrible twos. No is her favorite word and she rarely does what we ask her the first or second time. She is trying our patience regularly!
Where did grandmother get Kemma name? New to me.
he5 is pt, harp
Rose, pt,harp??
...I am not a number...I am a free man!
Tea -- thank you for proving that it is not just us {{Hug}}
Malevolent laughter...
Apparently, her real name was Emma, but she was called Kemmie as a child and then Kemma as she got older and we really liked it, so we took it!
And yes the last he is hew** -- specifically the past tense
You are not alone, Grey! {hugs back atcha}
translation: he5 is past tense, harpjane.....LOL
Txs, Woulf. Tea, I like that... family names shouldn't die out. Rose, thanks!
Douglas -- that is the thing I like best about you... you have a tendency to quote from some of my favorite obscure TV shows :)
yw..........
My oldest son has names from his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather...
um, i'm not looking for h's?
my dad didn't have any boys, so the family name ends with him, so we thought we would honor his family that way
Tomorrow's theme is...?
that's cool, Douglas.
deta
You could give some of the kids that surname if it's that important.
harp -- do you have the jean material
well, that didn't work out like I hoped?
you are looking for D's, right?
tomorrow's theme is Charity Organisations - Your Chance To Raise Awareness
bless you, GW, I didn't!
other cousins did that before we had kids, so we went a different route.
don't forget the plural as well
I take it you have all the da's, harpjane?
got en all now! thanks!
de+ looks pale+ pl.after
and harp -- I am already blessed by my friendship with all you great folks here at Babble
awwww
I thought she didn't have those either Summer, but she did...
Need clues for et and en5 (not the 6)...
was that fireowrks, harp?
Thank you, Jilli.
tip to anyone still working, put a consonant in front of aw4/9 and you will get several other words.
tip to anyone still working, put a consonant in front of aw4/9 and you will get several other words.
glad you noticed, ankh!
Greek letter + not max
et - take your vi****** to grow big and strong
et ends like C, D, and B complex
hi, jilli!
Then, add the three letter word for pale, to a bunch of other prefixes....
en + spanish aunt
alpha beta gamma delta epsilon zeta *** theta

Hi mom!!

I am impressed, woulf

te 5/20 like he5/22, just change first letter
te5/20 - some people like a slow-cooked meal which has been ste****
Well it didn't look like that untill we moved all our stuff in! How can you combine 4 households and still be missing stuff>

I don't have he 5 22!
ROFL!! -- because things get lost along the way
or - te + married
he5/22 -- chopped wood
Jilli, got that, thanks
A he*** of wood
he5/22 = he + married, rhymes with te5
*erase that clue...
