thanks Jill! boy was I worried I couldn't find anything suitable.
You want a big hat, I have a bit hat
I do that, too, Min! but it's easier to hide unwrapped gifts... so the kids don't feel tempted to shake or otherwise "explore"!
LOL DRB!
the icon does not matter, my inability to type words correctly is ominpresent
hi chic!
So I must go to bed now.Probably will not be on again until after the holdays so Happy Holidays to one & all!

sore
finally an 8! thanks BJ
haha chic - good icon!
thanx jillibus
I was going for cartesien for the 9, but its ian and not ien

gee why am i so stumped on these so's
hi nat
no--I mean a connected so6
you'll find some so** hursh
ok i have that 6
didn't know if that was the one meant
hurshy - Shakespeare wrote a 6/18 to his lady love. So that makes him a so 9/54
hey MG!
Hey Fran!
ahhhhhhhhhhh i tried that with one e ages ago and gave up, silly me
Hurshy, don't fret anymore - you can use my 2 letter clues now.
yay lickety!!
OK. That has to be a made up word. And it won't take cert!
uh, thanks lickety
I can just picture Will standing on a street corner dong that...

Thank you yet again, Lickety!
poets who read their verse in public may have other bad habits -L.L.

cooties
oops
Thanks erda, I needed some of those.

Just had a 3.6 earthquake -- SF Bay Area -- very localized
wow Erda!
did you feel it erda?
297! Hi everyone
ah, got er8!
eep!
oh yes -- it was right under me
I used to live in SF
hi angb!
and Oakland
good morning all
hi lain
you guys just had one too - right? like 2 days ago?
ok, taking a break, glad it wasn't a big one erda!
hi angb!, erda. rachmouse, Iain...
so am I, Fran -- hate the damn things
see you all in a little bit
see ya fran
hi jilli
i liked the quakes myself - grew up in Bakersfield and had a few there
maybe, fran! Maybe I'll be sensible and go to bed at a decent hour
firefly -- if you'd ever been in a big one, you would not like it AT ALL
Erda - i was a bit freaked when we got a good rolling one, my bed was on casters and it shook me along pretty good
they just fascinate me though
"liking" is not a word I associate with earthquakes -- of any size. They are just sneaky and unpredictable
as most natural disasters are - but experiencing them, at least on a small scale, is very awesome to me, in the sense of the "awe" of mother nature
morning iain
hi lazaro
i know wot u mean firefly - volcanos are fabulous (from a safe distance)
good morning Michelle hope you are well.
hi jillibus.hows things?
dezyon - i agree, and Mt. Saint Helens is rumbling a lot lately, very humbling
all is well, girls still playing on the trampoline. not snowing yet!
fine laz -- and with you?
yes,good,jillibus
hello dezyon
yeah i have been keeping an eye on those news feeds too firefly
where do you live dezyon? just general location
australia firefly
we rarely see earthquakes, barely manage a tremor every few years
ahhhh - so you're watching from afar! :)
ahhhh - so you're watching from afar! :)
oops
lol yes - natural disasters are pretty rare here, tho we see a few cyclones each year, they usually only rate about a 3 or so
i think tornados and other wind phenomenon are a little too much, but still highly intriguing - i'd take a quake any day over a wind disaster
but a good lightning show with thunder - yeah
it's all pretty incredible - the way some of those tornados come out of nowhere is amazing
we are having a record drought - all our storms of late are dry storms, i actually saw lightning in a clear blue sky the other day
finally, i got a cr8 :) my first!
Was my fist and so far my only one firefly
*first
well done, firefly! My first (and only) 8 so far was er8
amazing dezyon!

It would kill anything seeing it has coal tar in it - don't they use coal tar for skin disorders too?
has anyone mentioned the sn8?
ty...found it. jilli...do want a clue for the mi8?
They used to, Angb, but the doctors have banned it in this country as it is said to be carcinogenic. My friend used it for eczema but can't get it on prescription any more.

yw

hi all, and ty lynxxx for oc 5!
don't think I have ever babbled at this time..... hi new faces
hi natlt
hey mva, what time is it in wales?
8.48am, late start for me
Morning, goodness another big grid, how can we find that many words in this grid
well, you will have to forgive my spelling and typing it is almost 3 am here
too late natlt!
yeah, I know but I don't think my love is in love with me anymore.......so
oh no, so you babble to take your mind off this
well I babble anyway, but I couldn't sleep so... I babble and cuddle with a very cute french bulldog
my 14 year old cat "helps" me babble, she walks on the keyboard or sits in front of monitor!
tear
oops!
ca8,45 please
yeah, so does my frenchie, on my laptop, at 61 KG
he thinks he is a lap dog, so he should be on my laptop
big, big dog!!
he gets confused when the keys click
not that big
Can someone clue the co6 and co7 between (hot chocolate and hot chocolate plural) It's driving me nuts
a KG is 2.2 to a lb right?
he is like 22 lbs
do I have it reversed
co 6 and co 7...butterflies are born from....
2.2 pounds to a kilo
ca 8/45 - walt disney is famous for making these ... evening all
Man. I knew they had to be there. Thank you.
yep reversed
so about 12 KG?
ty Angb
my cat weighs 6 pounds!
I was trying
that's not bad, my friends cat is 16 pounds
morning all
Hi sprite
we went metric years ago, but i'm not so hot on converting weights! morning sprite
Morning Sprite
ah, well then I didn't have to try....my teachers tried to teach metric, but no one ever remembered it.... I think it was too late
Has anyone found the cr8?
Yes
it would be nice if everyone used the same weights and measures
Is it a fun grid today?
Did you want a clue mkl?
Only if you are so inclined.
Not quite as nice as yesterday sprite - but that might be me
mkl cr 8 - treatment made of coal tar to stop wood rotting
ty angieb
thanks angb
yw
Yesterday's was simply great!
Lovely wasn't it ... so many er, ier, etc etc Warm fuzzies all over
One of the best grids in a very long time indeed. No wonder this one isn't as great ;)
I don't know that I feel that way about yesterday's grid, but I may just be bitter
one of my favourite words is in grid tonite ro 6/24 - a style of architecture
my eyes got blurry, and I couldn't finish
You're not bitterer are you haha
lol Nat
mmm, not about babble, about love.... yes
Then I hope your eyes don't get blurrier tonite
that would have been a great one for yesterday angb
blurrier I mean
Love ... probably makes the most people in the world bitter.
the bf is being dumb......again
not becoming bitter but staying willing and able to love takes the biggest love of all
nothing a little babble and rum wont fix
bfs are bred dumb I think (apologies to any males around)
babbling males are the exception to the rule
You have to take it into account - and take sprite's advice methinks
yeah, and mine has a LOT of baggage for as young as we are
Must remember that myself
can't believe I gave that advice even before breakfast!
I am totally open, he is the one closed off
LOL sprite - that's a after a couple of wines type of advice
yeah, that sounds familiar, Nat.
Nat - think that's a male trait ...
the bad part is he keeps telling me I deserve better (an excuse I think, for nat wanting to get close to someone again)
In my own defence I have to say that I didn't sleep much. Daughter had an aching ear and we were up half the night.
sorry to unload on you all before breakfast
argh, that is a bad one, Nat. Only possible answer to that is: "Yes I do - better FROM YOU!"
good answer sprite!
well, sprite, I hope the little one feels better
Heaps of ibuprofen is what she needs until the antibiotics work - if only for you to get sleep
she does, thanks :) And is lively as ever, in spite of lack of sleep. She even told me in all earnesty: "Mom, you look a bit glazy."
Sprite my son had that the other week, not nice
lol, out of the mouths of babes
lol Angb, so true! I fed her paracetamol and kept my hand over her ear, snuggled her close to me and waited it out. Brings back lively memories of the feeding times.
is he better now, ren8?
Yes ,y 6 year old had it a month or so ago. The worse thing is he had been off colour for a week or two. Then it hit! Huge inner ear infection. Always like that as a baby - you would never know he had it.
Nat - what are you studying?
Ah, poor kid, it is so nasty when you cannot tell until it is really bad.
Fine now, the antibiotics worked within a couple of days
I am working on my master's degree in therapy
marriage and family...focus on kids
Aaah - you'll be able to give us lots of advice then?
great! Be sure to keep us posted on your insights. I could use a few - raising kids is the biggest and scariest adventure of my life.
lol, I get yelled at a lot because "I don't have kids" nevermind that I have been going to school for 7 years
I'm with you sprite - I am totally lost in the mire
I think the biggest parenting advice/ technique that works is the "good kid jar"
wish they came with instructions!!
Gee Nat - I had my first child at 41 - you've got plenty of time!
Haven't heard that one ... please tell
tell me all about the good kid jar! I don't think it means I put my kid in the jar when he behaves?
Or misbehaves
you reward good behavior with attention, to stop the attention getting misbehavior......the goal of the kid is attention, so they get a rock, or bead, or penny every time mom or dad "catches" them doing something good, best with younger kids
kids love it, especially when they get to pick what goes in the jar
too late for stroppy 17 year old!!!
ah, we did something like that. Reward the good behaviour and ignore the bad as much as possible. If not possible, interrupt the bad behaviour and let the kid be on his own for a short time. Doesn't work that great now, lol.
Bit like my sons pockets - he collects "meteorites" - rocks to the rest of us
ah great, Angb! My son collects stones as well. All stones. All sizes. All of them.
the attention of mom praising and putting something in a jar is the reward, then when they get to a certain point at the jar they can earn a puzzle with mom, or story time, or 1/2 hour of video game
brilliant idea
That's a nice idea Nat ...
the bf gets mad when I suggest things like that...."I don't have kids"
got to go, breakfast then food shopping! bbl
see ya MVA have a good day
bye MVA, see you later
nice to meet you mva, thanks for the chat
yeah, well, you studied about it. That's more than I did. All I have is practice, lol. And some theory certainly can help!
bye MVA *hug*
remember what sprite said natl
sprite, I think it is a combo of both, I try to remember my own childhood, anf friends with kids before I suggest things to the parents I work with, and I always make a point of telling them it is only a suggestion and they should figure out what works and doesn't
I will MVA, thanks
I think you are doing great, Nat. Don't let anyone discourage you.
thanks sprite!
thanks sprite!
Agreed sprite. You must believe in yourself Nat.
ooops, sorry
I do professionally, it's just in my relaitonship that I have doubts on what I am doing
I remember when my son was little, he did NOT want to go to sleep. Cried his heart out each time I put him in bed (and mine with it). My mother isn't one to take advice from and I was desperate, and finally I called a telephone help line.
oops, type-o's rum is kicking in
sprite, that takes a lot of courage!
The lady on the phone listened to all that we had tried to make it better, laughed and told me: "You try too hard. You are your son's best toy at the moment. Every time he cries in bed, you come around and try something new and that is exiting. Do exactly the same every time and he will get bored very fast."
half way :)
It took only THREE days to turn the drama around - he went asleep happily and peacefully. Thanks heaven for good advice. :D
that sounds right, I am sure with as much school as I have, if my child was doing that, I would do the same as you though
It is where being a parent is exactly what keeps you from finding the right solution. You want so badly to make it right for your kid, you try everything you can think of.
Objectivity is a precious tool, as a parent I often don't have it
I was so grateful for some more distanced advice :)
no one does, parent or not, we all think our way/ family members are a certain way, it is impossible to be objective
hello again babblers!
hi Fran!
fran!!! what are you doing back?
hi sprite!
You're right Nat. When I seperated I found calm by talking to a psychologist. Simply as she had no "history"
Hi fran

Gee Fran - what do you call what little boys have?
lol angb!
don't touch me! You've got co7/32's!
it might be an americanism, what eva said
Thx eva - I couldn't get "whizzer" out of my head.
have the trumpet and the nasties, need the one before ice cream co**
also means little bugs, there was a kids game of the same name also
I have no idea. I keep thinking of what a little boy told me: boys have a penis and girls have a cavia.
We call them nits
lol sprite
sprite, extend the "old co**"
co7/32 - co plus vowel then where you build a building (the land)
lilke the things babies wear on their feet, but change the first consonant. Don't know yet what the other one is andree
thanks haz!
neither of those is the first 2, never mind will come back to them later, I am a bit over c words
You're welcome!
I'd forgotten about the rare form of silicon oxide LOL. thx Haz
thanks Haz!
The first co6 and co7 combo are where butterflies are created
still trying to figure that one out haz
not the butterflies, but the building site
thanks again haz!
now how did I miss the butterfly combo! Thanks again, haza.
co plus vowel, then a soundalike for the sense of seeing (for that co7/32)
*Haz
you said it eva!!
oooooh eva, you said it!
You've got the right word for the end Eva - just put the right vowel in front of it.
oops
thanks! Kept wondering, as I wrote that one, what the very word I was typing was. Talk about lacunae!
thx haz for the land one
You're welcome Andree.
Would someone clue me the so9 please?
Just found it - one who writes the form of poetry, so6
mkl, someone who writes a certain kind of poem
funny how the addition of one letter changes a nice word into a kind of icky word.
And good morning, mkl, by the way.
thnx fran- is that word for real?
that's exactly what I was thinking, Fran. Looks yuck!
probably one of those words that is no longer in use.
Hi all. Been here awhile. Chatted in quite awhile ago.
I take it then that the so9 builds off the so6 before it?
i was thinking of se6/7 combo, but the so9 does look strange also.
Poets these days seem to be more into free range stuff so the term is hardly needed.
hi mkl!
Just found it. DUUHHHHH
Now I HAVE to know what that se6/7 is :)
If Annette Funicello had been a poet, she would have been one of those.
Morning. Anyone got a clue for the co6/21 that comes before the musical instrument (or ice cream cone)?
LOL mkl
hee, hee, i knew you would sprite
Fireworks.
yay angelsong!
hi hydra, you used a word
YEAH Angel!
Congrats Angel
Well done Angelsong!
yay angelsong
i'm missing so many Cs hydra, wouldn't want to throw you off.
I still have 52 left and I find I am sitting, staring a lot.
co6/21 - men's neckwear comes after pigeon sound to make a nit
Did I? I didn't mean to. Very sorry! Oh dear, now I see what i did. Oops!
we know what you meant to do hydra. :-)
Got that one, Haz. It's the next 6/21 down that i need.
The next one down is the ice-cream container trumpet
you have the horn singular hydra?
Yes, Eva. I need the 6/21 that's next to it.
don't have it hydra
I mean, before it. Not thinking clearly today. Woke up at 3.30 and couldn't get back to sleep!
Aah! Our two black and white moggies are together.
I'll have a look.
Hydra - its like the kids toy s7.32
yes they are. How about some kittens? Is yours male or female?
co6/21 - the bird turns into a form of transport, minus the first s
thnx lynxx for the co and the sc
Mine's male, but minus his accoutrements!
Okay, better go and get the day kicked into shape.
bye Haz
mine too. Guess kittens re out
bye haz!
see ya haz
bye Haz (and hello too)
What a shame. They would have been very good lookingl
Thanks for help on word, Haz. Still pondering.
hi lynxxx!
there's a musician Ry Co____
Two clues please before I take off? er8 and mi8?
Hi again Fran
I have that word, thanks. The one I want comes between the golden grain that's eaten in Flakes, and the instrument.
mi = tr 5/12 badly
er8 is a hermit or recluse, ends like a biting insect
I have Co + numeral
I'm working from Brandyjack's list; maybe he's put in an extra one! I'd check with Lickety but would have to restart computer.
Thanks Angb. Still working on Frans.
thanks sprite!
and plural :)
ang-I don't get the mi clue. That tr5 isn't in the puzzle. Sorry for the denseness
Just can't find it Fran. Any other clue?
hydra what I have is the singular of the instument
its another tr Eva - tr5.12
tr 5/12 = t + ra 4/5 .
thanks ang!
Thanks so much for helping. I have the singular instrument. It's the word before it that I can't find. Another co6/21
mkl, er + vowel + microscopic biting insect (m4)
thanks angb!
yw
hydra-did you get the clue re co+ number?
Crap. I was trying to finish it with the insect that sucks blood. Minus the last letter. Thanks for the help Fran
Yes thanks, but I tried everything (I think!) I'll have another go...
no problem mkl
hydra - just looked at lickety's list - there isn't a word there between the wheat and trumpet
Thanks for the help. I'm off for the night. Good luck.
Good morning all. Long time no see. After my accident with dog/glass of water and laptop - my PC decided it was tired of life! Father Christmas has brought me an early present so, if nothing else, I can now talk with my babble friends again.
nite mkl
Hi Frances
night mkl
hi frances! glad you're back
hi frances
Great to be back. Son decided he was totally fed up with me moaning and bought me a tablet laptop - wonderful.
Ey
well frances, the squeaky wheel gets the grease
hi infernal
Oh dear, Angb. I must have a chunk of co words missing then and was looking at wrong combination. Donner und blitzen (and Rudolph too!)
Opps hey, How are we
SUCKED IN Z
hi her
hi ang

just a few more and then going to try to get some more sleep. 4am is really too early to wake up, but try telling my boy that!
oh flip thanks ang. I didn't finish yesterdays 200 and today im feeling crap tastic
my body that is....don't have any kids
I finished - as it was Saturday here. But this might be pushing it, as we are 1/2 hour from Christmas Eve ... and I am far from ready for Christmas
Oh dear ang, i just have to do the hostess gifts for mondday
see you all later
bye eva
I have 24 people coming for Xmas dinner - but I will be out having lunch until they arrive! And a few are staying over so I have to think about Boxing Day breakfast. And I am an unnatural in the kitchen -
bye eva, sleep wel
Bye eva
Bah humbug ...
later eva have a good christmas if i don't getto you. Err ang im all feasted out. I just chiefed 3 functions in a week
angb, do some kind of breakfast bake
you can assemble the night before and then pop it in the oven the next morning
That's my plan Fran ... but need to brave the supermarket tomorrow YUCK.
http://www.taste.com.au/ Ang this may be your life saver
very yuck!
Ang this site has a whole thing on chrissy collections
Thanks so much, her. You sound as if you wouldn't have any probs.
oh i need to nater in gods ear toser is a word
Yep its called going to someone elses has.
don't you mean tosser LOL
opps house
yer that two.
Ok, I wanna nag for a sec. I have a husband with trouble at work and a bad disposition as a consequence, a daughter with an aching ear, a son who is in love for the first time and I didn't sleep very well tonight.
how old is your son?
Oh, sprite. And it's Xmas too?
sounds as though you need some "sprite" time
My advice, a long hot bath, glass of whatever your fancy and a box of chocs - with cottonwool in your ears
ANg here is a handy idea, Get a 350gram pudding, (you know the one in the can) put in a blender with 1tablespoon of Brandy either real or fake then crumb. Roll into small balls like rum balls, put on a fork dip in 350grams of melted dark choc put on foil and stick in fridge to col
sounds like you have experience with that angb! :-)
Oh yum her
my son is 10 yo :)
Fran - it's my secret to sanity
angb, frittata is a great thing to serve to a lot of people for breakfast, slices well and looks nice, also fruit and cheese and cold meat platter
oh wow sprite! no wonder you couldn't sleep
lol... it is almost noon here. Is that too early for the brandy and the box of chocs?
not at all sprite!
if no one is home it sounds like the perfect time
I couldn't sleep because my daughter needed comfort and care with that ear. I feel like I could sleep standing on my feet atm ;)
Suns over the yard arm Sprite
Oh dear sprite i feel for your daughter, ear aches are aweful
They are all home. And The Girl is coming to play with my son today, so tension is rising!
go for it sprite, with luck they will come home find you passed out and forget their problems.lol
they are, lady. I used to have them as a kid and I remember vividly!
rofl, Andree!
so did i went to hospital when i was 2 or three with them
sprite, is your house like mine, where everyone gets to nap except mom?
sprite hide in the loo and go to slep
Okay, thanks for listening to my nagging and thanks for the comfort :) I feel better now. Yes Fran, that sounds terribly familiar!
I have miss 3 to stay tonight as she has ear infection and my daughter in law needs a nights sleep
Anyway - past 1/2 way and need to get my sleep. Thanks for all the food ideas ... and everyone have a great day.
andree, what a great grandma you are!
bye angb
Andree, wish you were my mom!
night angb!
night Angb :)
You two ang, menu plan works well, just remeber food hygiene unlike the resturant i ate at tonigh and youll be fine
Bout time you came to NZ - could put you up Andree - I only have 2 children ... they are sometimes good
I never had anyone to help me so i take my granma role very seriosly
oh ang kids are really handy when you bribe thekm to help you
Menu plan her - I am so horrendous in the kitchen I plan it like a military campaign. Then I have a glass of wine or two and lose the plot ... LOL
Hawaii is a great place to visit too andree, we have an extra room.
yep ang, check that site and youll be fine
angb, plenty of wine for your guests and it won't matter what you serve them.
thanks for the invites
:-)
Fran - my family are tee total LOL. Still if I drink enough I might get past caring.
Ang anthing from SuperFood Ideas and Australian Good Taste are gaurenteed to work, the other mags tend to be a bit frou as in you need one lobster and safron stems and blah blah blah, stuff youd never use
Andree you are always welcome!
well good luck with that angb! good night
i'm going to go too, it's almost 1am and i still want to do sudoku before bed
night all!
I remember lots of dinner parties angb when I would look in the fridge the next morning and find 1/2 the meal i meant to serve, lol
Nite nite - yacking on here - see the nerves are setting in. Milo and a good book for 1/2 hour should sort that out. Happy Xmas all
Night Angb - it wil work out fine :)
sprite, hope your little girl feels better soon so you can get some rest!
good night for real this time.
have fun ang pitty u cant zip to you help and zip back
nite angb and fran
Yes, I hope so too, Fran, but for her in the first place. It is so bad to have pain you cannot touch, poor little thing.
HOw old is your daughter sprite?
Fran if i dont catch you have a good christmas
She is 8, will be 9 next Feb.
oh the poor love, i send her a big huge.
I will pass that on, thanks!
I currently have a sore belly from crap tea and so does my other halfbut that don't compare to an earacje. Have you got the warm cloth on the side of her head as that some times helps
It seems my hand works better than a warm cloth, lol. Makes typing interesting and very slow :)
morning all..has anyone noticed how many of yesterdays words are in today as well?
morning rolin! Even one of the words you just used is partly in here ;)
poor dear.
Rolin Dr God forgot to shake the boggle box hard enough
yeah...i thought twice about typing it i have to say...
hi rolin
lol ..lady...what a great image
hey andree...its so nice to see ppl from aus and nz talking...words like ...yacking...are something i dont here any more
yeah, finally greyed out the C box. Feels like a complete puzzle in itself.
well its a good mental image. Tip laptop up, shake and volia new words
omg...just noticed 54 c's...*sigh*
hummpphh....wont let me have the icecream
anyone have the solitary O in the bottom of the middle row??
rolin 54+17, 2 boxes yuk
morning
rolin i want icecream but the icecream wont like it
Pounce on KTH
morning kth
its all in that rh corner dez
hi kth
hi kth
he didn't come home yet again
dezyon: O + first 4 letters of "making something like art"
I wish he would just make his mind up and stick to something
rh corner??
bottom right?
oh im so sending you my steel cap boots to kick him from here to next week, what on SOB to do that for the kids at this time of year
yes, bottom right hand corner
I am with lady, kate. He needs a kick very badly.
I can't even call him, it tells me his phone is unavailable, I don't even know what that means
i mean metaphorically, out the door down the street bugger off etc
ty sprite and andree
it means its switched off. Hint him down?
no you give me hints and hunt him down
or that he did not pay his bill for it.
I don't care for me whether he's here or not, but I have to keep trying to make things up for the kids
the phone is pay as you go, he can't not pay the bill, it must be off
Don't kate. For God's sake don't. Kids KNOW when they are being lied to and it is making things worse. Better they know the truth and have your help to deal with it.
um can you tell the kids the age appropriate truth
I can't tell them the truth, I can't make myself do it, it would crush them
theyll hate you if you lie to them kth
um can you tell them that he still loves them but cant be with you. ITs not thm its him, he still loves them but not you
I have been there, kate. Was one of those kids myself. They will have to know the truth eventually. You cannot spare them the pain, however much you want to. So your only choice is in telling them now, or have them deal with it later AND knowing that you haven't been honest to them. Let them keep their faith in you, dear.
when their birth father left, I didn't tell them much, granted Jessica was 2 and Lauren was only 6 weeks old, but I never ever said to them he's not coming back, and it avoided her being crushed suddenly, she realised slowly and was upset but never crushed
I don't want to tell them until they have a new life to look forward to
they think he's working long hours to get ready for christmas
I will say one more thing and then shut up about it. Your kids already feel that something is terribly wrong. Your not telling them makes it even scarier. Don't ever think that kids are not feeling that something is amiss.
well the need to know know that they are still loved by you and that so important, yes the day that santa comes is not right but what are you going to do when he decides to be a prick and ditch them on crhrissy which could be a possiblity. SOrry i had to say it
and what if hes not there for xmas?...where do you go from there??..why cover for him?... as sprite says...kids are intuitive..they probably knew something was wrong before you did...you can tell them that you and he cant live together...
my exs 2 year old was smart enought to work out dad doesn't live with him but he loves him lots
I don't know, I just don't know, I'm trying so hard to give them a nice christmas, it's so hard to know what is the best way to do things, I don't think there is a best way to be honest, i'm just trying to give them christmas
thats good kath. Do you have a clue whre he is
yes he stays at *her* place
Oh hell knows what to do, I just want to get out of here and get to my new start, this waiting for passport forms and money is driving me loopy
I would like to be be the voice of insanity, go there and drag his sorry arse back home to explain to the kids what is going on
I don't know where she lives
I don't want to put the kids through a big scene 2 days before xmas
hmmm, do you know her last name?
no

Sorry, Peri. Had my nose in the grid getting the ce words. I don't have the er yet.
hmmm, maybe someone should talk to his grampa and tell him he's being rude in here
er8= er+vowel and little bugs that bite
zy i clued it earlier look back in the chat
he's just called me he's on his way home, the money guy didn't turn up yet again
there are two ce 6/21s The second adds a vowel to the word before it
Hi TO. Just to explain my ic4 today: Paul had the video camera out, I peered at him, saying, 'What are you doing?' He was photographing me looking like a Mad Cow with my 'Mad Cow' mug beside me.(Babble in on the pc.) He then scribbed 'A Very Mooey Xmas' on the pic.
ty
hodag=grandma and I have told her about him
hahahahahaha
oops..I mean it adds a vowel to the ending of the previous word (not to the end)
my ktten just knocked over my christmas tree, off to clean up
Funny funny Jacula!
ty
i needed to laugh! well everyone - don't know whom i'll se when so i will wish you merry christmas.
Merry Christmas, TO!
Merry Christmas to you, too, TO.xx

I don't think this guy is going to give him any money
my passport forms still need signing and I can't think of anyone who can do it
everything is going wrong
Kate, this will take time, be patient.
any clue for the on 7/32
so sorry kate (((((((kate and girls)))))))
kate, i know you want to go very badly. other than that is there a reason why it has to be right now?
It WILL work out, Kate.
I just can't take this any more, I don't want to be here, the only thing getting me through is knowing I'm going soon
you don't want to be there. and you WILL go home when the time is right
on 7/32?
hello all
Afternoon back for a little while before I go to work at 5.00
Hi mousey
hi ren8
Just found on7= number + what clock shows
thx scrabbler--to easy i guess
An assist from my Scrabble dictionary
is anniebrook here
thanks scrabbler, did not have that one
I'm so determined to get out of here and start again, but everything I don't have control over is going wrong
True, Kate, so control what you can
me 6/21?
I am missing two co words and I will try hard to tell you where. The co 5,12 that comes after the plural slang word for people in prison co 4,4 co**
the first
Merk: a call when in the bush
lots of vowels
Then I am missing the co 6,21 that comes right after the co 4,5 "He's an old co**" and before the co 6,21 that if a boy touched me in school he gave me a co 6.
I wish there was a way I could get that money myself, but I can't see one
me 6 = the superlative of the me 4/5
?abbrev for masked animal (ra****)
ooooh these re's are killing me..does anyone have the re7/32 pls?
Hi rolin
hey peri
I have the animal, scrabbler. It is before that. Right before a pigeon is a co***
a lot of "vermin" in this puzzle
ty
Merk - there's an sc7/32 that minus the s is co6/21.
As in, he's an old co*****. Cute.
Great clue, too
Merk: it is a call used ni the bush full of vowels
thats the second re7/32 i need..
Now I am just missing the co 5,12 that comes right after the plural abreviation for prisoner.
( or a pidgeon noise on ecstacy (2 doses)
Merk: giving you lots of clues
ty, I guess I don't get in the bush enough. Actually, I didn't see the last letter hiding there.
I have the co words now. ty ty ty
s.ok//i got it
calling it quits with 80 to go. have fun people
Bye zysx
phew...got all the r's...
3 letters....but 65 words to go...
Go rolin, go!
good morning
Hi Smiley
misce
Ignore that--silly monkey
Morning Smiley
morning
Are you feeling Smiley today
Good morning Smiley - afternoon to the Brits
great and you
hi haz
A bit crappy as the whole family have colds, yet again
Hello Haz
Hi HAzel
hi haz
shorty is never on anymore
I'm taking a ten minute break before starting on more Christmas preparations. Don't let me stay longer!
HI Haz and Atalante
shorty was here this week
3 hours later ....
You will need more than 10 mins to do this grid Haz
You are speaking to Babble addicts, Hazel
LOL!!
I know! I was on earlier this morning and got some words, but doubt whether I'll have time to finish.
ce 6//21 (either one) pls
Babble requires a commitment, and that means other things do not get done. LOL
what's this Christmas thing?
But me finishing a grid doesn't get the house ready for the festivities and the guilt would finish me off!
A big commercial deal vs a religious celebration
which is stronger haz, the guilt, or the lure of the grid???
ce 6/21 = the rural mail *ou*** were a challenge in winter
The guilt.
But it is exhausting either way or both ways
I like making Christmas a special family day, but it does take time and effort. It's worth it, though.
then go get everything ready, and when you've done enough to stop the guilt, you can enjoy the grid :)
I wish I'd had you as my mother Haz ...
babble rabble, still thinking, not getting, need more help, thnx
ce 6/21 - coatless, he ****cally endured the cold
Why, Atalante?
great clues Babble,thanks
because you sound like you give your family wondrful Christmas days! I used to get shoved upstairs for most of the day while my mother sorted out Christmas stuff!
I love making special food and setting a nice table with flowers and napkins etc. I get as much pleasure out of doing that (more) than opening presents!
we should all take photos of our christmas tables for a theme day next year
thnx
ce 6 = the brass section was especially good during the jazz con**** and sometimes le** is more
I'll show you mine from last year, Atalante. Two minutes.....
oooh cool :)
Haz, it has been 10 minutes...
merry day before christmas eve day all. i'm waiting on the grandkids to show up to make cookies. in the meantime i need a clue for ca 7/32 and 8/45 please
I'm back - it's a bit squashed
It's been 12!
ohhhh pretty!!!
well yes it has
gorgeous table
So I should really go. Unless you want me to stay. But know I can't. Things to do........ Why can't I be more decisive?
Magzel, think of a funny or political drawing, sing and plur
why don't you go adn give yourself another break in an hour or so?
tasks are much easier when they have a finite end!
That 's a very good idea, Atalante. I'll get the pavlova in the oven and the flowers done and come back shortly. Have a good time meanwhile.
afternoon all, everyone having fun?
whats a pavlova
gooey meringue thing with fruit and cream
still missing one 8
sounds delicious, never heard of it Ata
Yes, jonny. This is my third visit to the grid today. 77 to go.
Pavlova - australian dessert made with meringue, but with the addition of cornflour and vinegar to give a marshmallow filling consistency. I put cinammon in mine to vary the flavour.
they are really lovely! a good alternative to really stodgy christmas pudding adn stuff
Byeeee!
Peri, the 8's are as follows: ca, co, cr, er, mi,m
thanks hydra, I am missing the cr

lucky you, Im not sure it would be same having christmas in the warm, just suppose it is something you get use to
Yup ren what you born to
hehe... i remember passing through florida one christmas season... it was very strange for me to see santa wearing beach shorts, and palm trees decorated the the conifers we have up here
my ex was raised in honolulu... and apparantly it was stranger still over there... hearing songs like "white christmas" and "let it snow" played on a ukelele
morning morning morning
We only have Santas in the shops where they are air conditioned - they would die of heat in suits outdoors and our shops also play songs like white christmas etc
whoops... I meant earlier palm trees decorated "like" the conifers we have here

Indeed I do, smoothpapa -- and I can actually sing tenor if I need to, though I'm usually an alto :)
I was once in a seminary choir where it happened I was the only female that semester, so I was put in with the tenors. :D
June this year Pink!
cr 8,34 please
wood preserver Merk!
a paint u put on fences merk
ruthy, can you elaborate a bit?
flask... here is a good rendition of that song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6M8KJe f4kQ
its black and has a very distinctive smell!
I think I know what you mean. It protects the wood, like from bugs and such ... and heaven knows we have enough of them in the grid today.
ah, got it! I always thought of that as something that builds up in your chimney.
thanks smooth....I shall go and listen now....bbs...
Got it, once I remembered how to spell it. ty
well..im off on holidays so i wont see you guys for a few days....have a happy holiday in any way you spend it...bye all..
Same to you, rolin --- take care!
bye, rolin, Merry Christmas
bye rolin
Does the top of the wave come right after the cr 8?
smooth are you busy this morning?
Bye rolin--Merry Christmas!
hi all, can I unload for a sec here?
it does on my ro**** merk, but I don't have any lists yet
Yes, , of course
Of course, Sprite
not really nat. not at all...
10 years ago my son was born and my father cut off all contact. A couple of years later my grandfather (his father) died. My father refused to shake my hand, or my husband's. That was the very last we heard from him.
3 calls so far
And now I get a christmas card, with just his name on it. Addressed to me alone.
Am I crazy, or is he?
Well, he is opening the door, Sprite. It is a start. What do YOU want to do now?
That would be tough, Sprite.
Sounds like he's wanting to reach out but is fumbling badly. You can choose to respond if you want to, or let it go until the time comes when you feel you can. But you certainly are not obligated to respond now if you don't choose to ... or ever, for that matter
He has the issues, Sprite. But maybe he has decided to move ahead.
Is this really opening a door? Wouldn't that require at lease a personal note on the card?
A personal note would be the way you or I would handle it, Sprite... but for him, this may be his way of doing it.
He is at least establishing contact, and I suspect he struggled with what to say.
Can't help thinking he is demented now and reliving the past of 28 years ago - he even adressed it to the name I then used.
he's probably afraid of setting himself up for a disappoitment, so he just sent the card without investing any of his emotions in it in case you shot him down.
He is testing out the situation
i agree scrabbler
That could be, Sprite. How old is he?
I will share this with you sprite....it sounds like I am making it up but swear to all that I love that I am not....My father was a class a jerk when I was growing up chesed on my mom left her with a downs syndrome toddler and a baby in the hospital with spinal menageitis (kinda like a kenny rogers song hey)
73
Sounds like he's had a lot of anger and pride for the past 10 (+) years, and people who carry that heavy of a load don't find it easy to lay it down all at once.
he continued to be a jerk but would send out little displays. I never talked to him. then I got married ten years ago. i decided that he was trying in his own llittle way adn I wanted to just move past it. we never discussed it (it would have hurt him too much) and I forgave. we had the best relationship after that. he died three years ago
We ALL have our personal frailties and limitations, so it seems like he wants to test the waters out, Sprite.
There is nothing I can do with such a card, but throw it away. I understand what you are saying and I agree, but I feel I am totally shutting down (if that is the phrase)
It's the perfect phrase, Sprite. Please dont' feel guilty for taking care of yourself through this in any way you need to.
the key is to decide what you want and can you forgive because he sounds like he wont be able to give yu what you want. hurt hurts plain and simple it is your choice
and change is scary
sprite it sounds to me like he is putting the ball in your court, you now have the choice of what to do, if you choose to throw it away then that's fine
then you're not ready yet to accept the gesture. and that's okay too. he hurt you and you have to do this in your own time.
Well, you have been hurt, abandoned, and rejected. But you must decide what to do next.
He put me through a childhood that has left me with a diagnosed PTSS. I can forgive a lot, but I don't feel invited to do so by means of this stupid card.
Are you (and your husband and son) better off with or without him?
you don't have to sprite. that's what choices are all about.
The choice I made in a similar situation (it had been 20+ years from a family member who was an offender to me as a child) was to ignore his cards for the first 2 years they came. I ws finally ready to respond, with the help of some counseling.
Sprite....don't throw it away, but put away deep in a cupboard or something and one day when you are ready....bring it out and deal with it then.....
I fear you will regret throwing it away.....
If he still is like he was, we are way better off without him. He was someone who HAD to hurt others. But I haven't seen him for 10 years, so I don't know.
now I am not saying forgive on the basis of a card. and ptss is serious. all I am saying is that maybe you could learn to know him as an adult and come to a different place
People change and learn from their decisions. I know I have. Maybe he has too.
Sprite, if he has gotten some help for his problems, he will reach out again and if he has changed and gotten healthier, he will reach out in a way that acknowledges the hurt he has caused.
and because we are all proffesional therapists you should definately listen to us lol
Well said, ch
whatever name he put on it is really of no importance, the fact is, he is reaching out to you his daughter.....
well if he still is like he was, then you probably would not have gotten a card from him.
Thanks, all of you, you are really helping me getting through the first bafflement and shock. LOL wurdygurl, in a way you all are - the best kind, the experts through personal experience :)
personal experience baby we all have them
He probably doesn't even know you're married name!
{{{ sprite }}} Haven't you realized we all grew up in the same family with different last names? :)
no, we're no substitute for therapy, but we are here to listen and give our opinions and share our experiences.
I think I will wait for another reachout then. My husband suggested sending the card back with a note that I don't want any of it.
wurdygirl--I am reading a great book right now that you may like too--"The Memory Keeper's Daughter"--look it up on amazon.com
We have a saying here in Scotland......"We're all Jock Tamsins bairns"....
I have had therapy and still have. Just needed my online friends for a few secs, and it helps. ch, sooooo true! *hug*
you need to take your husband's advise into consideration, but I wouldn't send it back or burn any bridges. If you can't deal with it now, then just ignore it.
sprite if you're not ready to make positive contact then I would leave it, you don't want to make it into something negative
Just walked in...rereading everyone's comments...let me say you are all pretty wonderful people.
Dealing with adversity and challenge makes one better at dealing with adversity and challenge.
your hubby is trying to protect you, but its not the way to go!
I will scrabbler thanks
yes, this is a great community. I will definitely not send the card back. But I will wait for something more... err... something with more words, anyway.
does hubby still have his parents?
Let things simmer for a while and you will discern what to do at some point.
words are good
Off to get ready for work, maybe see you later this evening, bye
and you won't be in such a shock next time
(((sprite)))
((((sprite))))
No, both his parents died, his father last year, his mother just before our daughter was born.
hey he took ten years you can at least take a month or so
or a year or so, or whatever it takes.
*big relieved sigh* Wurdygurl, that is a nice way to look at it. I wil let it rest and simmer for a while. Thank you all so much for letting me ramble and giving me your views and support!
Sprite this is a situation that requires compassion
Shalom Everyone
I am glad I helped
you are quite welcome sprite. that's why this community is so different from other gaming sites.
gotta run I need to hold ladder for hubby
shalom Arb. Hope you are having a nice hannukah.
good afternoon everybody:)
Whatever you decide Sprite.....I hope it works out for you......
Bye wurdy--be careful
Shalom ARB
Shalom ARB
Hi jean
Flask: yes, you are right. And I know I cannot let my ability to have compassion depend on what my father can give me. I guess I am simply not ready to really find out what I want or don't want about this.
Ty Katy -- all my grandchildren are here together; so it's a great holiday.
Sprite, I think I speak for all of us when I say we support whatever decision you make for yourself, and we're always here for hugs {{{ }}}
hi ARB :)
His card is stirring up emotions that have been gone for so long. It is like he was dead but now he really isn't.
When the time is right Spprite....you will know EXACTLY what to do!
That's wonderful!
Thanks ch and all :)
Sprite - Happy Holidays.
good luck, sprite.
happy hanukah arb
I have to run out for a bit with my beloved --- bbl.
anyone have the last cr 7/32?
Happy Hanukah, arb!
Bye ch
buds, friends, pals
okay one more: it's the plural of the old one, kate
wood preserver Kat!
sprite my mum says we all have a pandora's box hidden away in the back of our minds, when we are strong enough, our minds allow us to take a peak inside and deal with part of the contents, if you are not ready to do that now, then close the lid again until you are ready, your mind will let you know when that is
If you take my user name, drop the final consonant and substitute for the one that makes the same sound, is that a word?
it is a comparative, Kateq. Cr + vowel + he who fathered the child, but mixed up.
I have the buddies and the my wood preserver is cr 8/45
Well said, Kate
No, I already tried that, Merk
ah then there must be another after buddies, was hoping it was the last
Then I need another me 4
got it Merk--ty!
That is a great way of looking at it, kate, and so true. I will give myself time to feel about this before I do anything at all.
when you're ready to open the box, we'll all be here to support you
That list of co's is amazing.
Where's my me 4,5? I have you me** someone and say Hi. There's a book called Me** Christianity. I'm missing the third.
dole out
TY husrh
well, I have opened that box a zillion times, of course. But there is a distinct difference between chosing to open it myself and having it opened for me unasked and unexpected.

faerie... this will be the first time in 3 years, I haven't worked on christmas day
Gosh, Faerie, I'm sorry... but I know whoever you are working with that day will appreciate your presence. WHen I worked Christmas on-air years ago, the listeners were all people spending the day alone, and really appreciated having company, even if just the person on the radio.
oh babblerabble you kill me lol
is chanukah over yet
Babblerabble I didn't think Klingons had a sense of humor! :D
Ch my patients will appreciate it thats for sure some dumbass put presents under the tree yesterday and now we have 7 men wanting and begging to open them
Working on Christmas is the gift of giving.
I think so
and what about kwanzaa
I think Kwanzaa goes all month.
and i know festivus isnt over because we havent had the feats of strength yet
nah, that's only worf ch, most klingons have a great sense of humor.
On Jay Leno last night they interviewed an African American who said Kwanzaa was "The holiday of no-gift giving" as he was laughing.
Festivus for the rest of us! Frank Costanza at his best!

well the crowns usually atre spelled with another O inserted after the R

the co 7 has a lot in common with the sc 7/32
but there is a secondary def for the trumpets that includes a headdress
interesting
are skirts generally required with a headdress?
Can I get the last re7,32 please?
I get the feeling my sense of fashion will be greatly enhanced today
re 7 = to garner more points in an athletic event
to put another run across the plate
to etch again
ty all

Yes there is. To send again.

I am alittle worn out by this puzzle, going to start from the back forward now, for a change

stop messing with my freind DRB!!!
I thought it was two words too, but apparently not in babbleland
Was just thinking the same thing pappa
on4 = the loneliest number

Whoa, hursh, come up for air!
you like to go in the 12 i's or less checkout lane, harp?

she pooped me out!
does anyone have the O from the fourth row?
ewwwww that is a nasty way to win

Just went to the list, have about 3/4's of the words there are waaaaaa too many co words today
lol
well, I figure there are just the right number of c's and t's, etc. Couldn't finish the grid without them.
that's a very phantom tollbooth philosophy :)
nice perspective rabble
doe the mi8 build off the previous 6?
no
it has a prefix
and does the mi7 build off the previous 5? I'm guessing no
there's an mi7? *perks up*
no, the mi7 doesn't build...also a prefix
I think I've found someone who will countersign the passport forms
the mi 8 has the same first 4 as the 6 followed by running the rat****
got em both, thanks
cite
wahoo
thanks, babblerabble
that word too, harp :)
oops, and I gave one away!
and I'm going to apply for jobs in Toronto online, so that if I can't get hold of any money I will at least be able to earn some when I get there
kate, once you get there don't hesitate to contact the local divison of family assistance --- part of their program is usually helping single parents find work, health care and other resources.
good for you, kate!
and the messed up my wages last month so I will get 2 months pay in Jan, which should be enough to cover my flight
only 85 left... my goodness I'm certainly taking my time today
thanks ch I will do
97 here bbl
I don't know if any of it will work out, but at least I've found something proactive to do
My suggestion is too, Kate, is to contact both British and Canadian assistance now to see if they can coordinate some resources to help you and your girls. Being proactive is very sound. You cannot count on help from anyone else.
the local version of family assistance also normally includes some temporary help with groceries, and childcare while you hunt for work. They can help with housing too.
juist surfaced to read your good news Kate. Get yourself and the girls to Toronto first of all. Did hubby fail in getting the loan???
could I get clues for the ce6's
breath mints with an extra vowel
ce 6 = ce**ainty in anything is often a luxory
ce 6= he withstood the disconmfort ****cally without expression
ooh thanks, weird one
inge, a question: my beloved just looked over my shoulder and I showed him your icon and read your profile. He had a German teacher named DuBois (I think on the spelling) who grew up in Germany and studied history. Is that you?
thanks babble, i got the second clue, still thinking about the first
no, chi1212
okay, just a coincidence :) She apparently also spoke Spanish.
Well, although I studied history and Spanish (6yrs) I ended up using my German heritage to earn money. Taught every level from preschool to senior citizens. Those two groups are the best for teaching languages, They are less afraid of making mistakes. The High Schoolers are the worst...in my book anyway.
ce 6 = the con**** was wonderful, especially the strings; add for h** a jolly good fellow
need only 9 more words, all ro's , back in 10 minutes
His teacher taught him in high school, which would have been in both Idaho and Washington state. He would up studying several languages, and is fluent in Spanish, German, Italian, English. And reads/writes in 3 others.
thanks babb!
(may I call you babb?)
yw
anything that gets my attention works just fine
Always polite to ask, when you're addressing a Klingon harp!
Yuck yuck yuck. Too many e's and i's (not to mention o's).
I expect that's what Old MacDonald said, too, Judi.;)
lol
ro6/24?

architecture? art? not sure exactly
thanks!
*here an o,there an o, everywhere an o, yo.

here a re, there a re, everywhere a re re
Oh heck! What've I started?:-D
Ah yes, our old friend the hula goose.
and on this grid there were too many cs...
ei ei oy vey!
do people generally get offended by a hula goose?
I say anything goes when you're wearing a grass skirt, BabbleR.
I'm missing an ro5/10. I have what goes underneath growing things, what a chicken does at night, and a cookie. I think I'm missing the very first one. Any ideas?
change chicken word end to vowel
ro 5 = r + l****-fitting garments
thanks
ok, now I'm missing two ro6/18's, the one after the 50 5 that I just got, and the one after the cookie. Help?

chiley,ro 5/10 is a cookie

i think it must be a montana cookie, chiley
Congrats, Charm!

anna pavlova?
Being female, Atalante, I changed my mind and made a ritztorte instead. It's meringue with nuts and ritz biscuits added.
ritz biscuits??! aren't they salty?
The dessert is indeed named after the ballerina.
but ballerina's can't eat dessert!
They are, Atalante, but crush them up with nuts, add them in and the saltiness disappears. It's seriously delicious.
argh, no apostrophe
wow! sounds wonderful!
what is HAPPENING to me???
The dessert (Australian) was named thus because it was supposed to be like a ballerina's tutu (or something like that)
ohhhh
Atalante - it is a foolproof pudding recipe I've used for years. Topped with cream and chocolate flake and served with fruit.

I have a choice between dishes... cleaning... laundry... and wrapping... ...that's why I'm babbling...
some of mine are wrapped - they'd be the ones the shops did!
lol sherb
there you go lynxxx, pay someone else to do it.

I'm missing what I think is a ce 5/6 pair. can someone clue?
I've sort of changed shifts... my sweetie's working days for a while so it's messed up my schedule , lol

Hi Metal - so glad to see you. I haven't had a chance to post the cookies recipes from earlier this week. I hope to get to it in the next couple of days.
It's a type of paint used to stain fences etc.
chris, it's the residue left in fireplaces after stuff is burned
ahhhhhmetal, i owe you a potato pancake recipe.... should be able to do it tonite or tomorrow.. sorry

Hi Lorena

i am just not getting it brain dead today
Don't feel bad Chris I only have a little over 100 :(

oooh OK its my spelling but I stick with acer!!!! A small japanese tree much loved by gardeners!!
it sounds both painful and dangerous, but it works much better than my clue
mi8/50 please
true deeha, I try that everytime... keep thinking eventually enable will accept it
I know - it's a bit twisted but if definitions don't work......
no, it's a great way to clue.... i prefer it to definitions myself

yw fran
gracias Dorens
heya exwren!
this is like the first time in a week we can say your name exwren.
we're in that letter you hate exwren
and there are a lot of them
Hi everyone, I have hardly played for the last week, so much to do, and no time to do it in, if I babbled as well. I wasn't going to do this one, but with that S in the middle surrounded by vowels and R's, I had 50 words before I even looked at the list
Have to go fix supper - see everyone later. Bye bye
later mom
bye mom!
Hi and bye ExWren
done with REs!!!
bye mom
yayay fran!!!
yayyy Fran
'bye Mom
have 5 left here (of re's)---hooray for you fran
it's good to see you ExWren
bye exwren!
I've only got four of those ren, I am ignoring them until the last minute, because I don't expect to finish the grid, so there's no point in making myself suffer!
i had to go for them exwren..i had to...and i thought of you when i started them
Has anyone heard from Kate today?
Hello ExWren. she was on last nite (my time) but pretty down
she was on earlier, but i was just checking to see how many words as i was dashing out the door...don't think she was sounding too good tho
Ex-Wren - didn't mean to ignore you earlier -had to speak to husband. Scroll back through the log for her news.
Uno mas!

still stuck
and if it's not the chicken... it's the one where the plants are "more" beneath the ground
sorry Metal.....I don't understand either of those.....sorry:(
Flask... do you have the ro6/24?
ro6.24 & 7 is also a form of architecture
I'm still puzzling over your brazilian money, metaleather
chris... that O4 works off the o in the second column
it sounds like it might be a queen or a king Dorens, but is spelled differently
Flask, which of the ro7/28's do you need?
don't know which letter it began with....for all i know i have it, but don't know it's brazilian money
R
I have the plant and the bird
oh.,. think i do have that thanks meta... re? it's here often, but i never knew what it was.. .just know it's a word.. now that i think of it it does sound sort of portugese
on7 please
then you have both ro7/28's Flask
maybe it's another word you need?
on7 - is compound - 3 then 4
but there are three!
i just got some horrible news from my friends in Guam
the third is the fancy architectural detail and not a 28, flask
Fran?
sorry fran.
there's an re7/28
but only two ro's
I am missing an re6,18. I have send again, lay on eggs again, cows stomach lining, look at again, crystal compound, and bind again. Any idea which one I am missing?
one of my best friends' husband was killed by a drunk driver while biking
I know sorry it a 36........am not getting the clue tho'....
he's only 38
ooh no, that's terrible
the re7/28 is the plural of the cow part used to make milk curdle and make cheese
ro + co4, flask
re + building **** mkl

Oh Fran - thats awful
thanks lynxxx
i'll be back in a bit, i have to let some other people know
Nope. have that one lynnx. I THINK it's behind (to send again)
Dorens ro + co4....is only 6
behind as in before... or following?
pllural, flask
mkl - stand up straight - drop that first vowel and put 3rd vowel on end - ?
ro6/24 ro + * * * * nut milk is used in a pina colada
is it the one with the c's??
I think it's between (send again) and (sit on eggs again)
and the 7/36 is the plural of the 6/24
yes, flask
hello all
there's no re6/18 between those mkl
it sure is Flask
hi mousey
hi mousey
thanks....got it!
I must have one of them in the wrong place then. I KNOW it's right around there.
i'm missing the third re 6/21 (after brazilian $$)
mkl - you do have the singular of to send? as well as the plural
mll-- do you have re + ti4?
it's similar to when you talk about someone's death as being their D* * * * * ........ and Could be clued as to do what a penny pincher does, again
Yep. Both. It must be between (to sit on eggs again) and (a cows stomach lining)
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz z!!!!!!!

mkl, do you have the 5/10? make it a plural

He's probably 25 years old
he's hodag
grandson... 8 years old and very bright
ic6 is ic5.12 with a extra vowel next to last
I'm missing one of the final three 606,18. I have a(list) and (more of the flower) what am I missing?

that must be frustrating, fran, when you want to be there to try and comfort them
sorry harp, i'm giving an incorrect clue, re6/18 is actually the stomach lining of a cow.
I am not one for chrissy but this year i have been told to enjoy
well, it's been Christmas Eve when I've done it before too -- been doing it for 10 years now!
i called my friend jilli, but all i could do was blubber on the phone...she's very strong and very smart, she'll be fine
I'm sure she appreciated the call anyway
Happy sailing to you then, Jill. Just sharing the experience.....
guess you'd better wish me luck, eh autumn -- lol!
35 left, all s' and c words,.....
maybe everyone avoids doing it on christmas eve so you actually have an easy time.
go harp!!
probably all COs
Autumn, the thing about reserving is that you have to be there at least half an hour before sailing time, and connections from Salt Spring just don't work that way because the ferries only run every 2 hours.
im stuck on 117 words and watching Muppets CHristmas YAH

ar4/4 or ar6/18....any clues plz
also ar 5/10
AR 4/4 = AR + another spelling for the 19th letter
got the ar4/4 but not the others sorry
AR 5/10 = AR + the french word for summer, and then the plural
It's the same vowel on either side of a consonant
thx...what about ar6/18?
one left, an unmarked s4 (or rather, a mistakenly marked s4)
dont worry...thx jmann!
the 6/18 is just the plural of the 5/10
ca7/32 or 8/45?
i am stuck AT 122 words
is there a y words today
traditionally what kids watch on a saturday morning, and it's plural
any clues on the ST 5/10's?

done, off to one last practice.....
There is the st gelded cow but the consonant is between the two vowels
angb looks like you're missing the YE 6/24
thanks now i know that the y is used
gelded bull would be more technically correct. But I canna even bother to be politically correct..
If it starts with y and is 6 letters long its probably Yiddsh
not today and not tomorrow but ye****day
No ... it
ye 6/24 day before today -day
No it's the beginning of a favourite Beatles song
so, I have the one meaning to drive, the beer mug and the one meaning a cubic meter

The eunuch bull with letters rearranged
that's gelded bull, not guilded....
there is an st 5 that mean expressionless
still stuck on secretary
it's similar to the first one meaning to drive, just the last two letters are swapped
another word for shorthand
secretary uses a st*** pad.
oh, that's kinda different
angb is it girrfetist
st***grapher Chris
any clues for co5/14 please - second one, follows the vegetable
if so, then I have been misspelling the gelded bull for 40 years....
brandy im lost in the grid
you can put your beer or soda in it to keep it cold
thank u what about cubic meter
stuipid grapher chris its that
brandy- both are words, different meanings

Oh dear Moulin Rouge done as Moulin Scrouge so forgive me if i get stuck im so busy watching this movies
Chris ac 7 - highest card + mixed up to 4/4 (foot digits)
ac7/32 -- high card plus misspelt foot digits
chris - the ST 5/10 that means cubic ME 5/12 is similar to the ST 5/10 meaning to drive (or to ST*** a car), but the final two letters are switched
YAY une! Felicitations! Joyeux Noel!
DX!!
the second ce 5/12?
i must not be spelling it right it is not working

miranda - yes, that's a co 6/24. It's a co6.21 I'm missing. But, thank you.
Jacula you don't have hot dogs
penpooh - I don't? Clue more, please?
bye herin - thanks for your help
Do you have the person who co 4/5s? Jacula

Ang - I think so. That's the swatter or swindler?
co 6/21 co + letter less than ten
i mean ar
Jac--pl of the co5/16
penpooh - I think this may be a USA snack?
Its a turtle so I have just found out Jac
chris - switch those letters and then make it plural - you almost ahve it
Very similar to the nasty little bugs - starts the same
Ang - got the turtle.
Again, Jac pl of co 5/16--using pl ending when you need to convert the "y"
my favorite but I like it with out the beans more onions
thanx for that miranda - didn't have the singular either
i had that one all along i needed ar 4,5 my brain is getting fried
Oh goodness! I know how Hurshy feels now when she's doing the 'guess what Hurshy needs' thing. I even checked NJ's and Lickety's lists and I can't see what I'm missing. Like Santa, I've checked the lists twice..:(
91 left and it is getting harder
hot dog? i've heard of fries done up with chili that are named co6/21....
Go go go Chris
All named after that island in New York
Go Chris! I think this is a hard grid, you're doing great.
that's the one. never heard of the dog...
yw Angb
ar 4/5 - type of welding + 4th vowel
Thank you Miranda...it all makes sense now

Or leave the o in, drop the s and swop round the 2 cononants
that was like pulling teeth lol thnk u
Yay chris -
Oh dear! I must be as thick as the fog that preventing us travelling to Reading (in Berkshire) for a party tonight! Can't work last word out.

Wasn't only fog - car developed air in brakes, also.:(
Yes, miranda.

first 3 letters of the ice cream holder + what men wear around necks minus "t"
Good news! At least daughter is safely home now so I WILL be able to sleep.
conie
sorry again
plural it chris
and Jac
i have been in front of this computer way too long
Big theme park in New York called Co*** Island. Fries topped with chili are called Co*** Fries. And I think there is also a bird called a Co***, plural the bird. Or stick the 3rd vowel in the middle of the ice cream cups before the hemlock distillate.... Chris almost had it...
Fireworks!
thnx chris for the co 6/21
wtg merk
It took forever.
ur welcome lol
See you tomorrow.
buh-bye merk
stuck on n now 3 left
yay merk
wtg merk
BJ - I have all those rabbit words, I think. Thanks for trying.
chris - which N's are you looking for?
The 'c' word, BTW, comes off 4th colum across from left, botton row.
Have you the one chris clued jac? He who co 4/5
do you have the hemlock distillate that follows the rabbit. Don't know why I thought it was a bird.
Yep.:(
I've checked both lists again, BJ; yours and Lickety's and, as far as I can tell, all words are accounted for. However, Babble insists I have a c6 to find and am 21 points short of finishing.
the no's
Now how could I possibly not have known how to get the one words from the bottom o? After all, it means "A sheath formed at the node of a stem by the fusion of two stipules, as in the rhubarb plant."
i think you must have them all, Jac--
*one word
Have you the person who co 4/5s - makes up a price?
LOLOLOL, jilli!
anyone have clues for the two NO 6/21's?
or the one who fashions the no5?
no5,10 please
You're sure it's a CO, not a CA, CE, or CR? There are two of each of those.
chris--the hangman uses one or pl no4/4
chris - "And then there were NO**" and it's plural
those are the two I have
no6/21 opposite of yes +po***
have that one there is another
jac -- I imagine you have the co****monger -- a hawker of fruit, vegetables, fish, etc.
there's also the kinda trumpet
Or a hangman's uses rope to make a NO*** (and then add a consonant to the end to make the NO 6/18)
chris ...I don't get your po____ clue...there are lots of words that start with po!
This game drives me nuts. I'm convinced that the Babble gods are making up words, just to drive me crazy. Who are these evil people?
and a sort of 007
Jac - How are you doing? How many c 6/21 do you have
pine - try ring around a po***
and there's co + one less than 10
someone who is good at writing po**s
I'm going to try signing out and then signing in again to make sure there hasn't been a blip. BRB, I hope!
Jac, you list 8 and 8 is all there is.
did that help
i am not a good cluer
sorry
maybe it's the ce + consonant + french familiar you?
chris, pine - which one are you working on?
i was trying to help with no 6/21
BJ - I'm back and have noted what you said about the co words. I'll check the lists again.
but i need 3 more no's but am trying to figure out which ones
I'm still not getting what the PO word is? You said it is NO + someone who is good at writing PO***S
FIREWORKS! Found it at last. It was the cE6/21 betweenthe 1st and 2nd 5/12s. Sorry for being a time-waster.:((
congrats jac
Yay Jac
Thank you JM.
Hooray for Jacula the Grat!!!
And Ang.
*Great
And jilli. You're all very forgiving! LOL
WTG Jac
google this of or pertaining to the mind
If you can rhyme you are being p*****. Just change the first letter JMann
Thanks autumn, also.
i need two of the three no 6/18's
no + et 4/5 is another clue for the no 6
Have you the group of 9 chris? The plural is a 6
And of course there is he who puts the no 5/10 around your neck
chris - no6.18 - groups of ni4/4. No6/18 - one who makes the handing knot or maybe one who ropes cattle? No6/18 - one who is more curious than others.
have that one
need other 2
could someone please clue the second se5?
*hanGing knot.
got the curious one thanks
vedaman - Spanish male or mi6/21.
already had hangig
chris - then there is the neighbor who looks over your fence more than you look over theirs - they are NO**** than you are
never mind
need one more of no 6/18
have that one
sorry chris - i'm also looking for that one
ok thanku
thanks jac. fireworks for me and a merry christmas for you all!
Now, where am I? Ummmm --- yikes! The re bunch, and I only have one of them so far!!! Time for a break, like not having another vodka and getting supper microwaved
brb
YAY vedaman!!!
no6 - group of one less than ten. Failing that, think what a fisherman who didn't have a rod or a singular ne4/4 might say in his defence for not landing a fish... 'NO ***!'
congrats vedaman
Which Friends of Babble link is the one with the clues to each puzzle?
yay veda
Well done, vedaman! Merry Christmas!
would that no6/18 you're looking for be the unsuccessful fishermens' problem?
jilli - jinx! I just said that, albeit more lengthily!
Lickety's Babble Clues,Morning
ty
snap, jac (as usual, O Kindred One)
last cr 7/32 please ....
Nuking meals again, jilli? I really must get you doing proper cooking again! LOL.
ah, thanks Jac - finally got it
still looking for the NO 6/21
angb -- 1. a ceremonial staff carried by a bishop or an abbot, hooked at one end like a shepherd's crook. 2. Botany. the circinate young frond of a fern.
Ang - last cr7/32 is the ceremonial staff a bishop carries. Or, if you watch or watched Coronation Street, the surname of a certain mad girlfriend of Ken Barlow's... Wendy Cr*****.
Aaah thanks jilli - I think
Now that's a clue Jac
jac -- I love Corrie but have missed a whole lot because of this ruddy game
Thought it might be,Ang.;)
We do get Coro St out here. And I should have got the staff clue too
jilli - the Corrie episodes I've referred to are from back in the 80s.
angb -- ypou mean you didn't get the thing about the circinate young frond of a fern??? For shame, haha
LOL jilli I am sure to get it next time?
I thought I had got all the c's. But 1 of the 53 /54 form that nasty c is missing NOOOOOOO
Jac, I was watching them back in the 80s -- and hubby was addicted too.
Angb -- our Corrie episodes in Canada are about 9 months behind the UK and yours are even older, I hear. Do you know about CSVU?
Thank goodness - it was only a 4. Yay c's done.
I am only an occasional viewer - what is CSVU?
HOHOHO,one night to go.....Hi all
Hi hodag
hello hodag
Sounds like a website for viewinf Corrie?
Hi hodag. Your grandson's made a bit of a nuisance of himself on site today.
88 left. Packing pretty well done. Time to nuke a healthy supper, Jac. Why should i sweat over a hot stove for one at my age?
Oh, was mousey hodag's grandson?
hi hodag!
Because it's better for your body, jilli? Heck! You do what you want. I'm sure you've earned your 'me' time.xxx
jilli - Mousey, yes, as far as I understand from what I've read on occasional forays into chat today.
hi JM Angb and Jac,jill
Seasons greetings hodag.
You bet he is and a very good grandson at that!
Nuking veggies is the best way to cook them -- no vitamins wasted in boiling water. Besides, I'm entitled to be lazy and speedy - VBG
HI all, back hopefull to finish, need help with first me6/21
he may be a wonderful grandsom but he's been a pain in the ass today!
still that no 6/18 problem
and no 5/10
Look whos talking!!
hi peri! Just add a superlative consonant to the me5/12
add cross letter no no 4/4 meaning nothing
I'm not a pain in the ass!
HI there jilli, haven't seen you in a while
chris -- which no6/18s do you have?
peri, I've been here but not when you have been I guess!
You wouldn't want to make a wager on that would you?
have that one it is another
could it be the no6/21 you need, chris?
Ata - I agree with you re mousey!
i have the curious person and the hanger
yeah, go on then. just because I said something about mousey ..... *rolls eyes*
jilli I don't think I have the right me5/12 yet
ty jac! I saw you wrote the same :)
nope got that one
Chris you need the group of ni 4/4. Fishermen cannot catch fish with no + ne 4/5
it is the 2nd me6/21 I need
jilli - not entirely true... steaming is better for the veg. Re the meal for one thing... you could have a mad cooking day and make abour 4 -6 meals for 4. You then divide them into portions for 1 and freeze them. Defrost and cook at your leisure.x
chris - what a fisherman would say if he left his stuff at home - "I have NO ***!"
add a plural to no 5/10 with cross letter.
so you still don't get the one oabout the fisherman who can't catch anything because he lacks equipment? The same would apply to someone trying to catch butterflies (pl of no5/10)
i have them it is not that
peri - what apparently hit the earth to kill off the dinosaurs
Jac -- I don't like cooking and have no time for it -- can we agree to disagree?
you both need a slap in the head with a fish! Picking on an eight year old boy sham on you!!
wow he is an 8 year old people!!! He's curious
no i believe i have that it is not that one
jilli - of course! Or I could just cook the stuff an send it post-haste to you. LOL.
chris -- do you have the no6/21? The shopkeeper whose inventory is all gone (minus a final consonant)?
hodag! I am not picking on him, I am pointing out he was a pain in the backside today
Hi ya shorty, yes he was 8 in aug..
oh sure, jac -- what would you like to send? Toad in the Hole?
Hodag - and I'm agreeing with Ata - and I wasn't even here for most of the day.
Sorry, apple of eye or not, he was a pain today.
i have 2 no 6/21's
Me too, hodag -- acting like a troll
Ask me if I care!!
LOL Hodag
well you should if you are a responsible grandparent
Well, I guess that's the problem, hodag
there are 2 6/21s and 3 6/18s
jilli - you request, my dear (Italian is my best stuf for keeping) and I'll post. LOL.
whoa that was uncalled for
does anyone have the 2nd me6/21
plural of the measurement
You two are really sad1
peri - what apparently fell from outer space to kill off the dinasaurs
sorry 2nd is big rock from the sky
Jac, I often do fresh stir-fry and such goodies, but on 297 days I'd rather nuke
LOL shorty!!
and you, my dear, are becoming as annoying as he was
JMann, thanks so much was going in circles looking for that one
shorty - not totally uncalled for! I have no idea is hodag is in charge of her grandson at present but, if she is, she should be looking out for what he's up to on a computer with internet capabilities. Yes, he was safe with us, even if he annoyed us. But that is not the point, if he was unsupervised on the internet.
no problem
then if you don't like it atalanta then don't chat
And you my dear need to crawl under a yellow submarine!
jilli - re the cooking. I'll let you off then,. LOL.
and I would be horrified if my grandson or any relation was upsetting a chat site with their behaviour,. wouldn't you?
hodag? You really do need to rethink things.
try and get my name right, if not your facts, Shorty
Am I included among the sad people? I should be, because this kid is friendly but has no manners, interrupting grownups for no reason
ewwww Im scared
you must be, jilli! welcome to the club!
shorty - take a step back... please.
Oh blah, let's have some Christmas spirit
wow people grow up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how old are the adults bickering here? :(
and you my dear should crawl under a yellow sub marine!
no don't tell ME to take a step back
yes, shorty. well said. obey your own dictates
chris - the first NO 6/21 is NO + good at writing poems (I know you have this because you helped me with it), the second one I don't have yet
whoa.. what on earth has happened to the normally very friendly chat here? i'm not taking any sides, would just like to say perhaps the subject should be dropped.
This is ridiculous! What is going on here?
Interesting to note the flags involed here
ok thank u i am still trying
seems some people can't do that
no, featherbee, bceause it involves the safty of a kid and the chat being interrupted by said kid
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
jilli - elucidate, please? Do manners differ across oceans? Maybe they do.
chris -- you still struggling with the no words?
yes, i get that. i just mean the name calling, and general pot shots.
oh yes, jacula, I think they do
chris - the other 3 NO 6/18's are the one about the fisherman or butterfly catcher, the hangman, and the neighbor - do you have those three?
i need 2 more and can not get them
feather - I don't believe I have called anyone names or taken pot shots.
not the butterfly catcher
jilli - they must do!
Thought I'd be unable to babble, but had a change of plans.Of course the grid has to be huge the last time I babble for a whole week!Only have 187 words so far
Jill - my sister is a personal chef... if you dislike cooking that much
need that one and tha no 5/10
jac, i'm sorry! i'm not trying to start anything new, i swear! i've just been reading people not being very nice to each other. you're right actually, there was no actual name calling so to speak. i just meant the general tone. i'll leave now. didn't mean to make it worse.
nor me, but one is very tempted to do so when someone is being blind to an issue!
On this side of the pond we take great care what minors are up to in any circumstance. If that makes us paranoid, sobeit!
Such a wonder full way to end the year I hope he bugs the he.. out of you tomarrow!
chris there are only 3 no6/18s. There are 2 6/21s
rofl
hodag, that's a charitable thought.
feather! No need to go! Wasn't having a pot at you.
Hello Minveryork, Don't feel badly about your score. I'm just starting after a loong day and several cocktails. Yikes!
i know i only need 1 more 6/18 and a 5/10 yet
At least shorty is laughing now so that is a good sign!
on Christmas Eve? dont think Santa appears tomorrow!
dont go featherbee!
still here, but i actually need to go anyway. i've been up wrapping way too late! no hard feelings taken or meant!
hodag - I'm sorry you feel that way. Can you not just sit here with him on here later?
chris - the NO 5/10's are: "And then there were NO**" but plural; the butterfly/fisherman clue (but singular), and what a hangman uses rope to make (also singular)
Don't go featherbee! Stay and babble with me!
30 to go :)
autumn -- I do just fine with my meals and make a neat boeuf bourguinon in the microwave besides other things. Jac just has a thing about nuking, I think!
CHris it is the no + ne 4/4 for the 6 - and unplural it!
i have the hangman i have the no** i can not figure out fisherman
autumn - jilli and I just joke about our differing attitudes to cooking.
i'm hoping tomorrow is a nice under 100 grid that i can do before all the festivities start. busy day tomorrow!
go microwaving :)
anyone have the 2nd co5/12
What do you catch fish in chris? Add opp of yes to it
My sister is still a personal chef....and she doesn't use the nuker either.
feather - nice to see you and sorry you came into a bad chatlog. Merry Christmas to you.x
finally thank u done the n's

I'm eating a corny dog...yuuuum. Happy Holidays everyone!!
I wasn't going to grid today, other than on paper, because we were going to a party.. but then car problems ensued and then thick, foggy weather problems.... and we relaxed in the end... and then daughter chose to go out 'to the pub' at 11.15pm. She's back now, so, no worries. It did kind of wreck the evening though!
Hello bunnyvicious! How are you?Welcome to the grid
chris - the third TO 4/4 is TO + not a he or a she, but an ** (usually used when talking about a pet)

5...
Angb, not so OLD!! Sometimes older is better, you had a pattern established and some security.
bunny - don't bank on that! Kids these days get far older before they leave... you may even have to take the initiative, as my aunt and uncle did when my cousin (one year older than me) did when he was still at home at 35.
So you went for 4th time is a charm. I had a girl then a boy. Don't know why but we had to do it again. Twins are a boy and a girl.
