it was fun though, at least we can have a conversation w/out our kids interrupting! and we were out in our rural county and got to see about 10 deer and the beautiful stars, etc.

i thought it would be at first, but it is a lot of extra work to give special attention to foster(s) and spend time with my own animals, and my husband.

i get up at 5 am and am up until 11...when fosters go back it is like being on vacation

not very often. ricky's case was written up in the local papers so there were a number of families who wanted him.
but remember those kittens i had back in the fall? all 7 were adopted within 2 days of them going back to the shelter (we kept one)
that's fantastic!
and i've met several of the adoptive families...they all say their kittens love being with people and are very affectionate - so all my hard work paid off

the shelter calls me when they have orphaned kittens or kitties who need medical attention to see if i am available. they are overcrowded at the shelter and there is always the risk of upper respiratory infection, so they like to foster out any animals who are not ready for adoption yet.

i have turned our 1st floor bedroom into a kitty room. i have wire crates/cages to keep them 'contained' when i can't be with them. my own cats are not allowed contact for a week - usually any problems show up within that time.

I'm glad that there are less and less of those. I keep being incredibly tempted by the cats up for adoption at the local Agway. But Merp wouldn't welcome them (to say the least), and they all seem to find homes pretty quickly.
really sad story coming....our shelter discovered a man adopting free kittens locally....to feed to his snake. they are trying to encourage people to just bring their kittens to the shelter.
