Hi All!!
why is cheney in aus anyway?

that's not right - should respect other countries, otherwise don't go there
Hi Mad123
well, we can't have him carrying a gun! he might accidentally shoot someone!
oddly, jilli, i don't know.
because we were the only ones silly enough to invite him
hope no one takes him hunting!
which is why i am staying indoors, mrp.

all the letters should touch each other...
the red bar says it was no found in the dictionary..oh
And you can't use a letter more than once...

Crossword Bebop is one of my blogs, where I use the New York Times crossword as a springboard for improvisation
thx cyborg
Wow -- I left the room and Cyborg finished!!! Congrats! (I have 206 to go)
lol
I had a lot of fun doing the Sunday crosswords with my kids, and they were fond of the anime show Cowboy Bebop (which didn't really have anything to do with either cowboys or bebop)
I just checked out your other one doug!! my son is AS
morning all
good morning everybody:)
we love cowboy bebop
morning sprite:)
hi jean and sprite
How Be Jean
hi sprite!! ((hugs))
hi jean!!
Doug, have you seen the movie about crossword puzzles and the annual contest in CT? Saw the documentary the other day and it was great
{{{{{sprite}}}}}}
hi sprite
*hugs right back*
HIya sprite!
Morning Sprite
Spritely!
I know a lot of the people who were in Wordplay...I'm contemplating going to Stamford this year to meet some of them in person...
hi all :) Having fun with the grid today?
doug, I had to mention AS cause it is new to us... but Mozart and the Whale really brought it home
Hi sprite!
Hi Sprite, yes the grid was fun :))
I enjoy doing crosswords, but I've never worked against a clock -- too much pressure
Mozart and the Whale? You are blessed to have Tony Attwood, who is the man as far as AS is concerned
grid is fun, sprite. How are you today?
Doug, just got his latest book!! he is awesome
reasonable ok, Jade, thanks for asking :) I can really use a nice grid though, and it looks like I am getting one!
Just looked it up...It seems like a worthy topic for Aspieverse Now...
I'm working on a series of posts on each chapter of his book...I've reviewed it at Amazon...
How are things going, sprite?
do watch it doug.... it was well planned and scripted beautifully
it is tough going, jilli, but the company doc gave me another 3 months, unasked for, so at least there is less pressure now :)
please send me links to anything you have to offer doug... always good to know POV about AS
good for the company doc -- and good for you!
Nice review, Douglas
Um...what is AS?
who was it who complained about having no Es in the grid? Could he or she speak a little softer next time please? :)
It doesn't have enough reviews by movie critics at rottentomatoes.com to say one way or the other...the viewer group seemed to like it...
I think I did, sprite *handing head*
It wasn't me, sprite...
*hanging it, even*
*didn't think you wanted it handed to you*
We're going on and on about Asperger's Syndrome, jilli, a mildly humorous, yet lingering form of autism...
see if my new icon shows
Oh, OK, Douglas, have heard about it

Nice, Volley

ta-ta jean...
hi sprite ...anyone I missed earlier
hi Dee :)
how are you doing?
I think I am slowwwly going in the right direction. It's tough going, but the company doc decided all by himself that I was to be given another 3 months to get better. That takes away some of the pressure and that helps :) Thanks for asking. How are you?
Job said "I know that my ******er liveth..." It's in Handel's Messiah, but it sometimes gets skipped...
nice clue, Douglas - too bad the whole word isn't here :(
fine ty; a little sore and achey because of the weather changes. I am so glad to hear you are getting the support you need!
indeed...thanks sprite...
Speaking of alphaets... I have found , so far, 5 Hebrew words.
That's not nice, Dee, aching joints and muscles :( Hope it settles a bit soon.
alphabet
ha, no wonder I'm stuck, ARB!
cool ar
I love hebrew words. It is such a rich and beautiful language - I'd love to learn to speak and read it.
I have the ubiquitous circular dance and its plural...but I don't know what other hebrew words are in the grid...
They've all been in grids before -- two are a dance and its plural, two are the Hebrew word for Old Testament and its plural, and the 5th is the word for room, but used in Yiddish as the classroom
the summer before my brother went to seminary; he taught himself Hebrew; wish he wasn't the only one to be gifted with languages; I have enough trouble with English
yea! Got the 9! Back to bed for me.
The language is fairly regular, not a lot of exceptions to the rule (as in English and French), but the difficulty is in the fact that it is a different alphabet
Doesn't the OT word have an h on the end? Isn't that a vrnt splng?
love to hear it
thanks, ARB -- got 4 but the room escapes me
Doug, you're right -- most often spelled with the h at the end
Ah, so Hebrew has a better phonemic orthography than English...not that that's saying much, as English has a lousy phonemic orthography...
I had ancient greek at school and I studied japanese later on, so I had some training in learning different alphabets. It is fascinating, it changes one's perception of language in a way.
I bet it does. Very facsinating.
fascinating even
:)
phantom exact
is that spelled correctly
mine is ravine
totally correct, Dee!
Hebrew is totally phonetic. The rub is that the vowel sounds are through the series of dots and lines under the consonants and after 5th or 6th grade (and in newspapers and books) they drop the dots and lines and then the new immigrant has trouble deciphering the words
ARB, does that mean that after a while you have to fill in all the vowels automatically? That sounds tough!
ty sprite; must be on my last neuron; wow ar that would be tough
not seeing words -- time for bed -- night all
It does and it is, sprite. But you do get used to it -- there are fairly rigid rules, so it you learn them you can manage fairly well
definitely sounds as a challenge!
night jilli, sweet dreams *hug*
*poof*
nite jil!!
Queen Susan of Narnia had one of these...and it came in pretty handy in "Prince Caspian"
Night Jilli
bye jilli
Sweet dreams, jilli
Call **** Rooter, that's the name And away go troubles, down the drain
Speaking of which, they have a "Pimped Out John" sweepstakes...you know I'm not making this up...
we know you would't make anything up doug
Check your email, watch a movie, listen to your iPod, play your favorite video game, without leaving the bathroom...
120 left, taking a break
see you later, Andree :)
I want the pimped out john!
ttfn Andree...
how are the cakes coming on, mrP?
It has a built in kegerator...is that a word?
it would look perfectly acceptable to me, Douglas, if it weren't for the fact it is a K-word...
the cakes are done!!!
YAY MrP
Sounds like letterism to me, sprite...
I have ca 8 x 2; ex 8 x 2; th 8... does anyone know what the last 8 begins with?
we just need to ice and decorate them! :) JOY!
yipppeee mr
volley there are 2 th8's
ty so much
The Pimped Out John has a USB powered beverage cup cooler/warmer...
hiccup...
I have to admit to that, Douglas. No love lost between Ks and me :)
ok, send it over with a twist of vodca... no k for sprite
lol mrP :) Thanks so much!
I mean, think of the poor, overworked, underpaid c...
but the C has my full support, that should relieve some of the stress
F, C and K are my tragedy! think of the poor vowel!! so sad really!
LOLLL
While it would make sense to make all soft c's described by s's, would you follow Captain Circ into battle against the Klingons? I think not!
katie W you with me?
*Clingons
ok, I think I can make an exception for captain Kirk :)
phantom index
kirk was sexy.... who is the sexy spaceman now?
I thought picard was sexy too
oh he is hot!!!
Some people find Scott Bakula, Captain Archer of the Enterprise, rather fetching...
I want a bald aged man with an english accent .... PLEASE!! no joke!! he is hot!!
I think so too :)
Hi Everyone. Picard - sexy! Kirk - not!
hey lynxxx :)
ubiquitous warrior princess bedeviler
hey lynxxx! picard is hot
I knew you had good taste in men MRP
yeah, Lickety doesn't even have to go bald to be sexy ;)
I think I'm going to shave my head and cultivate an English accent...
I have the feeling you are pretty sexy in your own way, Douglas :)
Oh Douglas - you don't have too! we're all in love with your mind
hahaha! lickety is balding gracefully!! now all we need is the english accent and he is so good to go!!
with a package like that, no accent is needed, mrP ;)
the complete package is smiling! :))
which makes it even more irresistable, of course!
someone tell Road Runner that 'meep' is not a word.
acme
not quite there
another phantom. "ravine" is still bugging me.
darn! It won't accept henpex. Or notorias. Or overies.
You are the sort like we're our sort, broll
moped
sorry!
some improvement there, lynxxx ;)
Somehow I had it in my head that Picard and Dr. Crusher had a romantic relationship, but on further review, it wasn't the case...or should I say "It won't be the case," because it didn't happen in the future?
Been quiet but hi/bye all must beam out my football is about to start been fun watching chat
hi and bye diem
Hi Diem - enjoy it
I think there are a few episodes in which they dream to be in love, Douglas, or they are/will be/have been in another reality.
Fireworks
yay ARB!
Yay ARB!
Congrats ARB !!!!
have to go to therapist, will be back later. Have fun, all :)
Have a good day Sprite

Hi Ishult - sorry, I can't help - just getting started today
You are doing much better than I am lshult, I only have three of the 8's...
Do you have all the Hebrew words?
Boker tov Ishult. Yhe 9 is ca 9 -- meat loving
ARB said there were five...I have four, but have no idea what Hebrew word is used for a classroom...
amazingly enough, I nearly always overlook the hebrew words!!
TY ARB
I'm remembering the lions in the Taco Bell commercial talking about Carne Asada...
Doug it's he 5/14
Can I have the definitions of the Hebrew words pls - I'll see if I can find them without the letters
toda ARB
I gave them about an hour ago, Lyn
Thanks ARB - I'll look back
ubiquitous circular dance and its plural, variant spelling of Old Testament and its plural, and a classroom...
If you'd like, I'll write them again.
TY Doug & ARB - 3 down, 2 to find
The classroom is he 5/14
Hebrew monkeys got it...thanks

Good morning/evening all.
good morning Haz
It seems to be a nice grid so far - a good size as well.
its behaving very well for me - but early days yet. ARB finished a short time ago.
Well, I'm happy, just found an 8....
hi babblers!
And another babbler joins us, good evening FranMag!
hi haz!
oh - and I just found an 8 too. Hi Fran!
hi lynxxx!
If it'sa ca8, there's at least another one.
ooh! i just found an 8 too!
oh, and another - off the same e
I just found the 9 all on my own while looking for those ca8s Haz, so thanks! And hi
Good morning Yoink.
hi yoink!
yay! i have both ca8s now and found the first one all on my own too! i hope the rest of the grid is as friendly.
Just found the 9 - I'm a little slow on the uptake, I must increase my meat eating.
I just got the two 8s too, took a little while, still waking up
make sure you don't e6.39 what is good for you though Haz (for 2 more 8s)
Looking....
Thank you!
thanks lynxxx!
still looking for the 9, i'm assuming it's a C?
it is Fran see Haz at 3.27
Yes, I gave a hint in my slow on the uptake comment.
duh, thanks haz and lynxxx
No problem, Fran.
hi all, the 9 is ca9/78, found 1 ca8/50 cant find the other
oggy - the other one is the person doing the action.
oggy, the other is the one who did it
change the last letter Oggy - and Hi
hi oggy!
thanks went the wrong way.
th8/50- plural body part
don't get your clue for the e6 lynxxx
th6/36 being the singular
too much Yoink
thanks haz!
TY Haz
Thanks for teh th8, Haz
You're welcome!
i'm surprised it doesn't accept the sc7 word describing one wearing neckwear
Good morning. Haz, I'm being dense, I know, but don't see how you can make a plural out of the th6/36?
hi eva!
The ending becomes the same as a high scoring card in games.
once you get the th6, click the dictionary to see plural of it
eva, it ends like many Indy 500s
And, good morning, Eva.
Hi Eva
thanks! Never would have found that without the dictionary-now I see what you mean fran
Phone..
need help with ca9/50?
oops, haz and i both used a word earlier when giving a clue.
cool eva
alex, meat eater
thought that was ca 9/78
oops my bad
there's only one 9
i mean i need help with ca 8
sorry
there are 2 ca8's-both come from the ca6/21pbouncing off the walls
Both ca8 words are developed from ca6/21 - structured similarly to the lifetime job choice, but ending in a different consonant.
alex, both extend the ca6/21 that means to go out of control, especially cars
Only just got the e6 and the 2 8s off it. Just couldn't see the letters going round that way
good morning all
hi hodag!
Good morning hodag.
there are 2 ex8,s
thanks got it
hi Haz and Fran
I said 2
there is a nice pair of em7s too
morning hodag
Hi Hodag
how is the grid today? hiya Eva
It's a fun grid so far, hodag.
pretty nice grid so far hodag-nice consonant combos
its nice Hodag
hi Lyn ,boy I am glad to hear that. I'll jump right in then! LOL
It's certainly proving more fun that work anyway

Good Morning My Babble Friends
I am up early cause I couldn't sleep :)
Good morning periwinkle, you're very early today.
hi peri! happy belated birthday!
Hi Peri

Thanks Fran
hi ya Peri,me too!
Got 5 of the 8's already
Birthday?! Happy birthday Peri !!!!!!
Thanks lynxx, my BD was actually 2/19 :)
Happy birthday to you...............singing!!!!!!!

thanks hodag
stagnating Peri? unlike some who get younger each year
Happy birthday, Peri. I'd like to fall back to sleep too, but I don't think my boss would like it
YW
okay I am getting younger each year :)
good for you Peri - we won't tell anyone - 'cept the 99 currently logged on
:-)
got 5 of the 8's with the clues, trying to find the last one by myself
help with th8/45 please
back again, hi everyone
hi andree!
Oggy - body section - get the th6.36 first
Einstiens th***** of relativity pl for th8
yo Andree
Good evening Andree
oggy, it's the plural of the th6/36
nvm, wrong one! thanks marc!
Oohhh - the OTHER 8 - thanks marc
thanks Marc
thanks got all the 8,s now.
Need the 6th 8 got the 2 c's, 2 e's and one th, what am I missing?
have the body section th6 but can't see plural?
Andree, it ends as in plural high scoring card.
Andree, ends in plural of a high card
Marc - make the body part th6/36 into a plural for your last 8.
Haz I have the th8
There are two th8 words.
thx haz and peri
th8/45 - arguments of logic, th8/50 plural body part
lynxxx, what do the em7s build on?
I have the pl I guess I need the other on, I didn't realize there were two th8's
Fran em5.14
em5/14 starts the sequence, e plus a repairing word.
as usual i am stuck on my pet hate re words
thanks lynxxx and haz! got them now
Don't get too flushed, Andree.
have that thx haz, missing 1st 4/5, 4/6 for a start
Haz missing the arguments of logic
Morning folks.......the birthday boy is here!!!!!!
The first re4/5 I have features a colour and an extra vowel.
andree, color with doubled consonant is one
first re4/5 is plural of re* room
many many happy returns Movieman!
Happy Birthday movieman
Marc - you have the arguments of logic already - the Einstein one, because you gave the clue!. The body part - four letters of the God of thunder, then two letters of what you cut a tree down with.
hi movieman! happy birthday!
Happy Birthday movieman
Once you find th6/36, press on the dictionary definition, and it will give you the plural.
Happy b'day, movieman
Happy birthday, movieman!
happy birthday movie
thx fran
yw andree
Haz no way is there a letter with 6 points in that word?
Have a look at the grid, Marc. Second row, third column.
the plural ends like many "Indy 500s" marc
Yes I can't see that letter in that word, it would be too many points
The singular ends in the 6 point letter. The plural drops it and becomes something else entirely. God of war plus unreturnable tennis serves/high scoring cards.
If you click on the dictionary definition of the singular, it gives you the plural.
Some of the celebrities I share my birthday with: Drew Barrymore Jonathan Demme Bruce Forsyth Christine Keeler Nicholas Pileggi Sheila Hancock Nigel Planer Ted Kennedy Kenneth Williams Robert Wadlow James Blunt Michael Chang Kyle MacLachlan Julie Walters And............George Washington........
that's quite a group mm.
But do they realise that they share their birthday with you?
God of war th + 2nd and 4th vowel correct?
holy sh** movieman you've got it right down!!!!!

oh Jac - so sorry - devasting news
That's really tragic news, but I know who you feel, we had to have our first cat Ginger put to sleep too.....:0(
ello antie sha
Jac - my love. We lost two cats through kidney failure and our daughter's cat is failing fast. I am so sorry
Jac,I've been there with my Ming and I feel so bad for you!!!!!
poor jac, you must be feeling terrible
so sorry about your loss Jacula,i feel your Pain
so very, very sad Jac. I'll be thinking of you.
To lose a kitty is like losing part of your own sole...:(
I agree, hodag, I too have experienced that pain.....
It took maybe 5 years before the acute pain of losing Merp's predecessor softened. Our relationships with them are so much less complicated and ambivalent than our relationships with our humans. And it seems that, especially if they are indoor cats, they rarely go on their own any more....
50 left, hopefully i will have time to finish tomorrow at work, happy babbling all
nite Andree - sleep well
how many words use the x. Is it in any of the long ones which are stumping me TOTALLY
there are 3 long ex words
and an x in the th6/36
you are so right Eva! Ming has been gone ten years now and I still miss him and feel that pain!!!
Thanks! Found the th with an x.

9 words using x found so far - there are woodchoppers at work...
so,so true Eva.LOL
only found three so far...............
Husband nearly had me reduced to tears by telling me about a very ill golden retriever he was about to euthanase, turning round and giving him 'a noble look'. Vets aren't immune to emotion, they just have to hide it sometimes. Anyway, taking a break and I'll be back later.

th6/30?
Good day Babble Team! How is everyone?
th6/30 - an unlikely sounding past tense of 'to flourish'
Good morning Scrabbler!
Thanks Haz it is unlikely
Hazel--I read your comment below, what your husband told you about the dog. Sad, but inspiring in a way, that animals can show emotions and communicate with us.
I know - he does feel that he has to be the one to be controlled, but it doesn't mean that he is impervious to the suffering of his patients or their owners.
I was at my vet yest, my bunny Sebastian has had tearing eyes and my vet is SO kind--described Sebastian as a sweet litle soul. He is OK, bt she will speak with the vet ophthalmologist today.
And, yes, he felt as though the dog trusted him to do the right thing.
I have cried with families during tragic times with children. It is OK for us to show emotions and families appreciate a truly caring MD.
need help with all the 8s except the th8......clue me plz
Movie - two of the 8's work from the bouncing about ca6/21.
ex8/80 ex8/75 - work off ex6/39 - to overdo, to go past the limit
There are two th8 - one is the plural body part, the other relates to unproven ideas - though in Einstein's case he was right!
Wow, TY for all of these clues.
howdy folks ! !!
Hi jepok22!
You're welcome, Scrabbler - for once all the big words are relatively normal.
oh. i feel so much smarter now. thanks for the help there, haz. :-)
how is the weather?
Hazel and Babble Rabble help us find the biggies!
And the ca9/78 is vehemently opposed to being a vegetarian.
ex 6/39 clue please
ex6/39 - to go over a limit, as in speed or spending
one way to get promoted is to do this to expectations
exceed
sorry
I need a clue for the first to6/18, thanks
That's it, Levia!
The first one I have is Mr Blair being more Mr Blair (to6/18)
since i have nothing to contribute with clues...
It's another unlikely comparative.
i'll tell you all about pandora.com. free internet radio. i'm listening to it right now.
Who's Mr. Blair
off topic, i'm afraid.
Beloved Prime Minister of UK
blair is bush's british buddy
Oh that Mr. Blair, like him but didn't like his support of Bush's war.
:-)
My use of 'beloved' was strictly sarcastic!
I gathered... you *are* British, aren't you?
I am indeed.
British humor = way cooler than migook humor
*American
What part?
I've family in the Cotswolds.
Signing out for a trip to the supermarket. Thanks for the blair clue! It's all he's good for
Near Great Barrington.
I live in Northern Ireland.
Another fan, Alleyn!
Northern Ireland? Never been. I hear it's beautiful.
in any case, I don't know what you mean by more Mr. Blair, another clue please
what word has the most number of points?
Huh!!!11
It is - we don't realise how beautiful until visitors arrive and start raving about it.
just give out the points and not the word itself
ca9
clue for the bottom right corner o plz
Isn't that how everywhere is??
Mr Blair's name is a shortened version of Cleopatra's partner. Make it into a comparative adjective.

yw :-)
hmmm. Marc. Let's see. You watch the Sopranos?
Think of the big man's name.
thanks, scrabbler :-)
Four letters.
Then make it more so.
Okay, step by step for to6 - three letters for an imperial measurement of weight. A vowel, then the US medical drama, represented by the initials of Emergency Room
I didn't even know that was a word.
Are we still helping Marc? Come on, Marc!
Welcome to babble - we say the same thing every day!
OK got it, you are very criptic but it made me think thanks Haz
good morning everybody!
Great clue! Supermarked trip delayed in search of the 9 and a couple more eights
Hi Charm!
hmmm
Hey, Scrabbler
Sorry, I've a cryptic sort of brain. Last night I was accused of 'giving the word away' so you can't please everyone, all the time!
haz LOL
I can't believe they had a milk protein in this puzzle.
I mean... seriously.
Haz - what a hoot - I thought the Blair clue was for another to6.18 - although I don't know if he is one - ?
And some people want us to give a word away, or just spell itout, e.g. fourth letter + second vowel....
TY sweetonsno
:-)
yw
No, lynxxx - definitely not one of the other team! (to6/18)

Hi, Aloyisius!
hope all the bad weather has subsided in your neck of the woods, Scrabbler... Hi Charm!!
Look for Jacula here--her cat, Kira, became very ill yest AM and was euthanized. :(
oohh, so sorry to hear that
ty for telling me, I'll be sure to send my condolences when I "see" her.. so sad
It has been above 32 for a few days and the snow has shrunk down to 2 ft or so.
ooh, I imagine it is at the ugly brown stage now..
But the snow on the steel roof is melting and sliding off quite dangerously
Yes, I miss the clean white look, but we will get some fresh stuff soon
be careful... snow slides are so HEAVY
I hear these loud roars then the thud
tough on shrubbery and other living things!
Hmm, I was finding lots of words and now I have slowed down at just 75
oh oh, maybe there are a lot of "weirdo" stoopidhead words today... better go look..
We can always count on stoopid words in Babble
(-: amen
Does anyone have the N's on the far right?
n5 is a blood relation

Bye bye Pianokid
Time to move on with my day. Be back later. Bye for now
mornin babblers!
morning all
mornin flosey -- quite log so far this morning...
will dive into the grid - come up for air later
enjoy. :)
Hello again - back to get my last words.
mornin haz! so quiet in here today!!
Is it? There were quite a few around earlier on.
yeah, i think most everyone had "real world" stuff to do...go figure!
Maybe the rest of the US contingent will arrive soon. Or maybe they've all finished.
Or maybe they've given up babble for lent???
heh, well, ive just started, myself. :)
ahh, is it lent already?
It's a fun grid, you'll enjoy it.
hopefully i wont be too busy today -- i feel like i may actually be in a babbly mood...hehe
Yes, I think it started yesterday or Tuesday.
of course - yesterdays theme was ash wednesday...DUH. *not a catholic*
Pennies drop, light bulbs light up.....
heh
It's a bit like when you find a word you've been looking for....
yes, you feel a bit fishy...heh
im feeling a bit dense with this grid...only 94 words found and im already stumped!
That's not like you - feeling dense! The words are there, the longer ones are fairly normal, for once.
well, we are nearing the end of the week...and its been an odd week for me, so im not sure the brain is keeping up...hah
Well, give a yell if you need any clues - or just take a break and see if the words appear more readily.
yeah, i managed to finish yesterdays little one, so it was a nice boost -- i may actually use the list today to help me along, which i normally dont do... heres hoping work allows me to babble today. ;)
May evanadine's bosses be smitten with temporary blindness...
hehe...funny you say that -- my boss just had lasik a week or so ago!
Was it for shortsight? Did it work?
hello all, please could I have a clue for both CE5/12's please? ;-)
not sure what his vision was, but he seems very happy with it! (hes a good boss + a nice guy, so i dont wish bad things on him)
jakes -- i only have one, when something ends, it CE***s
Hi jakes-mum - the first one is to stop, the second one adds a female name, spanish river type word.
ahh, thanks for that one, haz -- got the plural too. :)
You're welcome!
ooh, grayed out my first square -- the little i...hehe
ty, got the first one, will have to work on the second
ahh got it now, ty haz
Glad to help, jakes-mum.
dont forget the plural as well. :)
yay! finally got onto babble!
Hello Atalante! Problems getting on?
all day *sigh*
Frustration levels must have been high, then!
very high!
The good news is that it's a nice grid, and if you eat up your meat, you'll be an example of the highest letter word.
oooo yes! well, I'm eating celeriac, bacon and leek soup, so thats kind of appropriate
It sounds very healthy!
its *gorgeous*
hello i'm back everyone
Hello piano.
just the thing after a cold wet beach
Is that a description of Hobbit's coat!!?
LOL pretty much! she does seem to like bringing back as much sand and mud and seaweed as possible!
Good Morning, Everyone :)
Phone..
hi cnan!
Back but with 173 to go
hello cybernan
i have 172 to go
Hello cybernan.
and immediately have seen the 9!
how many people have got the ca 9-78
You see - a break really does help!
I always think that in the morning all the words I couldn't find the night before are just going to pop right out at me ----- of course they never do!
Afternoon all, just taking a tea break from work. Ata that soup sounds devine - home made or bought?
I do, casue I have fireworks, ca 9 is a meat eating animal
there is also a ca 8/50 and ca 8/45
definitely bought, but I think from the ingredients list I could probably make it myself from now on!
Well done inge!
Good afternoon FMItch.
congrats, inge -- you're way ahead of me!
good thing too, since I have a dental appointment at eelven...across town, and orchestra hall duty tonight with Winton Marsalis as soloist
Hey Haz greetings from soggy Berks Ata think I will google for a recepie
tell me if you find one because it is an absolutely gorgeous combination of flavours!
Well, sounds like we have the better weather today. I have clothes out on the line..
Will do, grated raw celaric in a sharp may with smoked salmon miked in is another fav.
how about a clue for the ex 8's, inge?
mmmm! I love celeriac, I wish it was more widely used
Has inge gone already? ex8 words build on the ex6 - to go over a limit, spending or speeding.
I can see it is one of those grid done in stages. Can't see anything for 5 mins and then spot a chain of connected words.
Absolutely right!
how many 8's are there
There are 6 8 letter words.
six of which I have one
thanks haz -- kept looking for that word and didn't think it was there so didn't even try it!
thanks haz
It's because it starts with the e in an unexpected position....
Take heart Allenyn I haven't found any yet :)
have an hour
missing one 8- have so far: ca x2, ex x2, th
There are two th8 words. One is a plural body part, the other relates to logical arguments.
mmmmmm gone looking for body parts....
searching for EX anything, but getting nowhere, any clues please?
It's the plural for th6/36, cybernan.
thanks for the clues haz, i kept looking for the singular body part
lizmac - ex**** the speed limit
ex4/10 and ex5/22 - shortened office big noises.
figured that haz --- just trying to figure out how to make it plural!
Great clues/ keep them coming. No have half the 8s and 2 of the 7s
It goes on the same principle as index.
take off the last letter and work from there
I was looking in entirely the wrong direction. TY
thank you, haz -- something new learned today!
You're welcome, cybernan!
Ditto what cnan just said
CA8x2 and EX8x2, eh? dont have any of those...hehe
this is a pretty smart bunch... great clues!
Have one of each Evanadine
evanadine - change a consonant at the end of your lifetime job choice (ca6) to give you a bouncing about word. Extend on it to give you the two ca8 words.
ca8/50 - is the past tense, ca8/45 is the person doing the action.
hah, didnt have the job choice yet, but i do now! and the other 3 that go along with your clue. :)
thanks haz!
You're welcome!
don't get the ex big noise clue
got any amazing hints for the EX8s yet? ;)
just can't fathom the extension to the job choice
ex4/10 - maybe not so much big noise as in a lofty position on the ca6/21 ladder.
alleyn -- its not an extension to the job choice, you have to change the last letter of that one to another word, then there are to extensions to that word.
Alleyn - change a consonant at the end.
eva - ex6 - to go over the limit, begin with the e right in the middle of the grid.
thanks hax -- thats one of the tiles i have no words for yet. :)
pabtrek -- the ceo is one
well, thats all my 8s! still dont have the 9 and only have one 7, but the day is still young. :)
Eva - thanks that's one of them sorted
oops, haZ, not haX! :)
ah big noise in business world, got them
ca9 - a meat eater - begin like the fairground, end with the mineral container
have you finished haz?
2 to go....
Good going Haz!
And done!
think I'll go for the 2 letter list -- don't even know what I'm looking for!
YAY!!
thanks Haz!!!
sheesh that was quick. Congrats :)
Thank you! It was fun today.
congrats haz
congrats haz
yay haz!!
thanks for the 9 haz!
Thanks all! And you're welcome evanadine. Is your total going up nicely now?
Am I right that the list of two letter beginners is not yet posted?
as usual missing a how slug of a's -- probably ae or ai (2 5's and a 6
It is posted, Alleyn. If you click on Lickety's clues you'll find it.
Licketys list should be up Alleyn - link at bottom of the page.
mineral container?
lofty hime for the birds
before space and plane
should be "home"
Hello fellow Babblers :)
thanks BR -- birds home gave me 2
I'm useless at explaining science things.... iron is found in iron o**.
Hello abe!

That's a relief, Gobias!
Hello, Haz :)

I have 68 left. I've been slowly babbling/ waking up
ax 6 -- chop+ males
I have bloodhounds
*refresh for what I found in the car when I got back from running to the shops after going to the beach*
cybernan - those who chop wood, hopefully not those of murderous intent.
ty BR and Haz
Hobbit is a creative thinker!
she is WAYtoo big for that poor basket LOL but apparently its a good bed
Oh Ata she loves the basket, and her face is a picture!
ax 5?
:):) I love the way spaniels are so expressive
same as 6 just take out a vowel cybernan
lose a vowel
of course, thanks -- think I'll go and get some breakfast!
Atalante - how is your friend doing?
oh gosh, the poor dear, today she's having surgery to put a central line back in and a colonoscopy and a CT scan! she's fed up, as you can imagine!
Poor girl.
she is *not* amused, but I suppose it gets it all out of the way in 1 day!
It must be just awful for her. I hope she finds the strength to cope with all the pain.
I dont know how she keeps smiling, she's an amazing person. am going to pop up on saturday and surprise her for a few hours
Meh . . .81 to go and I'm running on fumes . .
I don't suppose you could smuggle Hobbit in in that basket? That would put a smile on her face.
Then again, the infection control people in the hospital would have apoplexy.
I've actually done that before!! But she's in the NHS hospital this time and I don't think I'd get away with it LOL but I've been taking loads of photos of pup and kit to show her. anything to distract her for a moment from what she's going through!
haz -- as my AP English teacher in high school used to say "way to use your college words!"
Hello torgone - you've been working away very quietly.
when she goes into the local private hospital you can sneak things on through the windows and no-one notices LOL
I used to take Spangle to visit my late father-in-law when he was in an old people's home. We usually timed it right for tea and biscuits...
silly me, I thought "mineral container" was RING! (hello)
hah -- wishful thinking harp!
Hello harpjane - I should get my jargon right!
I'm sure! I'm actually thinking that when Hobbit calms down a bit more, I might try and "train" her as a petting dog and take her into nursing homes etc. People get so much joy from seeing a dog, and everyone just adores Hobbit
Back shortly!

*moilers
I haven't got the de5/18 - is it a name heard often chiley?
clued earlier its a county in england
in the UK it is...
lovely daughteer, lovely name, lovely English county, lovely cream...
There was a chicken farmer who lived in a village in China. One year, his chickens were afflicted with a strange blight that caused them to lose their feathers. The farmer was deeply concerned about this, because winter was coming, and, if the chickens had no feathers, they would freeze to death. So, the farmer decided to consult the two wisest men in the land. First, he visited Mr. Hing, the renowned scholar. Mr. Hing leafed through all his agricultural and medicinal texts and pored over books and scrolls well into the night. Finally, he returned to the farmer and told him that, if he crushed the leaves of a gum tree into powder, made it into tea, and fed it to his chickens, they would be cured. The farmer then went to Mr. Ming, the great seer. Mr. Ming cast stones, read tea leaves, and poked through entrails until finally he came up with the answer: "As surely as gum causes a shoe to stick to the ground, tea made from gum leaves will cause feathers to stick to chickens." Now the farmer was ecstatic. The two wisest men in the land had given him exactly the same prescription. So, as soon as he returned home, he took some gum leaves and made tea from them. He mixed this with the chicken feed and fed it to his chickens. But it didn't work. The chickens continued to lose their feathers, and, with the onset of winter, they all froze. The moral of this story: "All of Hing's courses and all of Ming's ken couldn't get gum tea to feather a hen."
ah thanks pab
lol babble :)
Boo hisss, Babbler!!!
great play on words BR..I shall copy and save that.
You asked for it.
A wandering monk walked barefoot everywhere he went, to the point that the soles of his feet eventually became quite thick and leathery. And because he ate very little, he gradually became very frail. Several days often passed between opportunities to brush his teeth, so he usually had bad breath. Therefore, throughout the region, he came to be known as the super-calloused fragile mystic plagued with halitosis.
LOL you guys its hard to babble when i'm laughing so hard
haha another good one
I got more. Post no more or I shall be forced to retaliate LOL
I have a friend who raises chickens so guess what I emailed her...
I'm really not doing too well with this grid
anyone have the to 6,18
Plural the to 4/4 above it
Opposition to the Whigs, Gobias.
to 6/18 -- not the Whigs but the to*****
or if you're in UK the opposite to the Labour party
hello everyone
sorry... the first to 6,18
There are two to6/18. The first one is a comparative adjective, being more Mr Blair.
nice answer haz
Frightening thought, though.
haz you are on alot...
LOL haz!
Is he as "well liked" there as George is here?
You're imagining things, pianokid.
whatever
we loooooove mr blair
it seems like ur on whenever i come on
tonies
oops! so sorry!
He used to be the most popular Prime Minister ever, the polls now put him as the least popular ever.
he's trying to find a tax for each and every one of us
Aha....right down there with George
hi all, help with 1st re5 please
hi oggy
hi, all
oggy - re5/14 - past tense of re4/5
hello angelsong
anyone have a clue for th8/50?
th8/50 is plural of th6/36, body part.
th 8-50 -- norse god and highest playing cards
th8/50 - Norse god + top playing cards
got, it thasnks, BR
I'm slow as usual -- going to burrow into the grid and list
thanks haz
You're welcome, oggy.
I can't seem to get the clue for the to 6,18...it's my last word! LOL
Which one, though?
the first to 6, 18
the blair clue
to6/18 - make Cleopatra's partner into a shortened version. Then make it comparative.
to6 = I ***e something in half + it takes 100 penn*** to make a dollar
some printers use ink and some use to*** - work on that with the Blair idea
Take away the sometimes vowel, replace it with another, finish with Emergency Room.
thank you all... finally I got it LOL
Well done - congratulations on fireworks!
thanks so much... and just in time to go home from work
congrats!!
I haven't a chance of finishing this grid
Go safely.
thanks again... you guys give great clues!
We're staffed with out-of-work crossword puzzle setters.
re6 after the re4/5 to repeat please
re6/18 - to get money for working again
thanks haz, been looking for ages.
You're welcome oggy.

hello babblers - how is the grid today?
Be afraid, Wolvie. Be very afraid.

ni5/12 female relative
hello everyone ....... can anyone help with that first de5/12 please, it is driving me nuts!!!
except that one wasn't in the grid... bah. can't even make up words and have them in the grid! bad day.
Your nephew's sister, Liz.

hi mo, red
ni5 female counterpart of nephew
de5/12 - add what you breathe, mo.
de + what you breathe

LOL Haz.
no, TO, you may not because I do not have it. lo siento.
ed4/6 - ed plus the wedding word
Which one, TO?
why isn't "csar" acceptable? it seems that is on espelling of the word....
It's either tsar or czar I think.
czar or tsar, I think.
yep
ty! : )
yeah, what haz said.
The last two Vs are driving me mad
ah..... ty
which do you have Inge?
vi + re4/5 minus the "d"
All the Vs I have are 4 or 5 letters long. I have ve4/8, ve4/7, ve5/28, vi4/7 x 3, vi5/16.
vi5/16 - the last one, put a consonant in the middle of the competing vi4/7 (the second)
I have 7 of 9... 1)Cheney 2) swerve 3) aloe 4) perplexed 5) rhymes w/ p*** 1 6) fights for attention 7) wine
clue for vi5 please? ty
I have that. I should have said "my last Vs". I don't have the order.
that's what i clued, TO
TO, it's a bird, as Haz and Une clued
aloe, eh?

Congratulations Angelsong!
inge : ve 4/8, ve 4/7 x 2, ve 5/28, vi 4/7x2, vi 5/16 x2
No problem, inge2.
I type too slow. ;-)
humpf, won't take seax. perfectly good archaic word.
what does it mean, Gwen?
it's a type of sword
hi gwen

Hi everyone!

hi peri

ahh - ty ouwa
wasn't sure you wanted a clue yet wolvie
LOL ad - that's okay .
hello peri!
HELLO PERI
ne4/5 please (not necessity or geek)
I must stop shouting :)
My phone just rang, I picked it up and an automated voice saide" We appreciate your patience while we are helping other callers". I hung right up. I just knew it was someone I did not want to talk to
ad...ne4/5...type of tropical tree
LOL peri! good for you... i hate automated calls.
i think it's dumb that caps mean shouting... it's so much easier for me to read caps (retinal damage from Lyme disease)
they really are annoying aren't they stid?
ADHD, didn't realize you could get retinal damage from Lyme disease
any clues for the 'x' in any word(s)?
I find the all caps more difficult to read... the shape of the words are all the same when they're like that
huh? did that happen to you AD?
sorry to hear that ADHD.
ae5 and ae6 please
no biggy... i'm used to it
eagle's nest peri?
ae5 and ae6..eagle nest(s)
sheesh, yes, stid, thanks and thanks Ouwachita
yippee! grayed the top E in the second column... and finally more than halfway! :-)
I was looking in the wrong direction
AD, are caps easier to read because they are bigger?
has anyone seen hurshy in the last couple days? I think I have missed her with our strange vacation-type schedule...
I think hurshy was here this morning
she was on earlier stid and she said she had two interviews coming up and she is sending out lots of resumes
thanks peri for the update. :-) I am glad she is making progess on that!
I am still looking for a part time job
then I will cross my other fingers for you peri!
se4/4 after braised in a hot pan
I love working with polymer clay and I do Reiki but am not making enough money. Seems all the temp agencies have is office work which I don't want
hurshy is getting ready for interviews and apartment searching
r u a Reiki master peri?
retail temping? do any of the local stores need people who can stand in for clerks and cashiers?
yes ADHD
sounds the same ad - sea version and ser version
never been a clerk or a cashier
that's further down wolvie
I looked online at Borders but no openings in my area
ah - well - I obviously don't have all the s's yet. :-)
A target is opening around the corner from me, was thinking of trying there since it is so close
it's not generally too difficult, but does require standing (so not great for people with bad backs). I like retail because the customers are usually so much fun to work with... (now you all know how strange I am)
there is one that is the same 4 letters as the char, just rearranged
target seems to be a good place to work. The people at our local store are always pleased to be there.
not sure I want or could stand all day
se4/4 ... take off last letter of the next word.
but there are often part-time jobs -- managers don't want to fully staff a store during off-hours...
part time is what I am looking for so I think I will look into Target then
and mature workers can be hard to find so you would be a real asset! :-)
Lowes and HD are good too for part time
well I may be older than the average bear but I am not mature :-)
thanks Wolvie
*grin* not mature as in old, mature as in not picking your nose while you complain about the extra homework your teachers assign when you have a date with the quarterback...
starbucks might be a good option too. They're supposed to have good benefits, even for part timers.
never thought of that mama something to look into, do you know if they hire older workers
the Gap gives full benefits for 12 hours a week
don't Gap would be appropriate for me although I like their clothes, may Chico's
our starbucks has a couple ladies who are grandmothers and grey :)
I don't know. I imagine they would as long as you could keep up, Peri. I mean, they couldn't NOT hire you because of your age.
I've had friends who taught off-hours arts/crafts courses for gradeschool kids, on the side
but no bennies there
stid, I try not to pick my nose in public places :)
that's a good idea, Takuma! hi!
plus, you get discount on coffee if you work at Starbucks.....mmmmmmm.....coffee
oops - hi all!
need a sanity saver please: clue for the FIRST to4/4
*sigh* down to under 100, and Tom is doing dishes... I think I'll go be mature and help dry. :-) later all!

I love word games
you get 1 week I think to try it out, then there are different price packages, depending on which puzzles you like, or prefer
i checked it out last night, think i'll join beyond the trial
i love all word games (except xwords)... love Games magazine's pencil wise

7 of them are timed, you wouldn't spend more than 20 minutes doing them....
2 of them you can take all day to solve them if you want, that is the Honeycomb puzzle and Word builder
That isn't so too bad. I will definitely look at it
read the instructions before doing any of the games, will definitely help
i love it... i'm putting together a list of links to other word games/puzzles. when i'm done, i'll email it to anyone who wants it

Do I hear somione's Mommy calling??
I hate everybody in Florida now:)
smd, love your profile. Love that you forget which g-babies were adopted. No sarcasm there, either.
is it local mrp or online?
hello everyone
Steve Doocey on Fox news said, that's why they live there lol
hi feather
hi ya feather
hi, feather
hey featherF!
haha green! the cost of education is becoming senseless... now I know why so many young people choose not to study
now I really am gone in the grid poof!
forget the F\
how does everyone no feather?
thx mrslfd3....truly love the g'babies equally and do forget that some were not "born" into the family other than conceived and born in the heart!
welcome, feather.
Hey for that money mrpres...I will be your personal tutor, and I will even fly over at no extra cost...:)
hi feather
mrp, that's why i let my employer pay for it...for the cost of my soul.
doug's over on the other computer playing finding nemo with daniel. he says "which one do i do?" i tell him "click on dory" he says "you say that like i know who that is!"
wow, smd...dh and I are hoping to adopt in the next year or 2. Love hearing stories of others, though.
lol feather
Hi Feather!! How is the little 'kicker' today?
LOL, feather.

Ooooh mrslfd3 I am so happy for you. We have a who bunch of little ones that we went to the "cabbage patch" to get. I have nieces and nephews from China, Mexico, Guatemala, Russia, and I forget where else. These are the lovingest kids I have ever known!!

done with D's!
shhh, green, or you'll wake it up.
109 left...only three grey tiles to my name as of yet
mrslfd3...conceived in the heart is not a lot of difference than conceived in the womb. One of my nieces could have had her own but chose adoption because of the abundance of children in need of a loving home. She has never, never regretted her decision.
okay I am fetching my list and getting deep into the puzzle....
ca9?
greengeeny do you mind if dive in with you...I still have 98 to go!!
and erased the Es!
ewwww, co-ed diving
have both thos sa's, need the first 5/10 please
CA9 = flesh eating
ca9, think meat eating
hi everyone
morning, andree
smd...we could have gone with expensive fertility tx and gone broke but decided that we were more interested in RAISING kids than HAVING them... if you follow me. Also, our chances of successful fert tx is slimmer than most and no guarantee...but with adoption, you almost definitely get a child.
thank you thank you!
and then you raise them to be little trolls, then to be adults
got iy now, thanks
vires
(yea! she's asleep - now i can type with BOTH hands!)
mrsfld3...one of my nieces spent over 50,000 in trtmts and still no babies. Applied for foreign adoption and had a baby girl in a little over a year. She wore maternity clothes part of the time
*slaps forehead* thanks smd and feather. thought of that one before but couldn't do it b/c I forgot about the other "O"
hornswaggled the Hs
listening in to conversation, 1 of my kids id adopted, she is 34 now and the joy of my life
*sings muppet song "moving right along" in head*
It's a long road, mrslfd3! My husband and I had done our home study and were waiting placement before we had to move for my job! I wish you the best1
pe6/21 please
Nutti...you dont raise them to be trolls!! That is an inborn trait!!
hi BGL! was just chatting with your mother a bit earlier... how are you?
sure you do, then they morph into madi's
thanks, all. It's been a long road just getting to the point of knowing this is the right way for us.
pe4/5 plus that is, then plural.
I'm blessed to have a hubby who loves kids and doesn't care what genes they have.
Doing good. Just passing time until Idol and Survivor come on! Thank God for DVR!
thx kanga
oh no! is idol on again tonight???
it's the elimination show nut
yw, andree
Oh no Nut!! One of mine never morphed out of troll mode...but I still love him and his little trolls.
crikey, gotta go get the hubby to dvr it
hi again everyone, taking a mini break from chores... kids is kids and love is good always. :-)
*covers nuts ears*

hello all
Stid~ Has my sis been in lately? I know her life has been crazy and just wondered if we were just missing each other...

hey smooth
Happy Birthday troll (not)!!
cliffeeeeeeeeee....brb
happy birthday, cliff's non-troll.
Hi smooth!!
I haven't seen her BGL, but I haven't been on at any regular time the last three weeks...
nutsireebob!
hi pappa!
I could just pick up the phone and call, but that's not as much fun! :)
hi everybody :)
hi, all who've come recently...can't list you all, sorry.
hi pappa, cliff bgl
last 2 ca6/21 please
etc
I don't like mean people, SMD, and I think idol and shows of its ilk are intended to bring out the meanest of the mean. I know some people including my dear friend feather enjoy them, but I think they're a waste of bandwidth...
hi cliff!
ok, slap me with a fish, but i'm stuck on the middle ne4/5
like the other ca6, andree. change second last letter.
hey, stid, dh felt that way about survivor...until he watched last season with me.
I, unfortunately, am a reality show JUNKIE!
i'm with you stid. if i want to see mean people i just go to the grocery store on a friday afternoon.
lol, at first i thought you said deaf friend feather, referring to my music taste!
the first show he started out playing on his laptop and ended the hour watching.
ne + **merge from hibernation, feather?
i hate all reality shows
Hi cliff. We ventured into your state today-went to the art museum at Dartmouth. A whole lot less snow down there.
I agree Stid...I dont watch idol either!! I do not believe that making fun of people for whatever reason is fun!!
*grinning at deaf feather* do feathers have ears? LOL
i love seeing them sing, and cheering on my favorites. i do not like when the criticism turns to just meanness though.
ty kanga!
good evening all
so i do agree in part with you stid, but i still really enjoy watching the rest of the show!
hey Nonnie1
but ya'll those people would never have the opportunity to be discovered if not for idol
most of the wannabes go on to contracts
hello stid!
*picturing feathers coming out of my ears*
With as slowly as I'm going tonight, I may not even break 100 before the shows come on!
while most of the winners fizzle out ( :
hi eva! i haven't been to dartmouth area since my husband's 4 surgeries back in fall of '05. i spent a month there. nice area, but bad memories.
I have watched Idol in the past, but first show this year was my last one. Tooooo much meanness from all three judges.
ROFL feather! that is just too funny!
For sure! Giving hospitals a wide berth is a good idea.
kanga, the last ca6 i have is the cut up word, can't get a 6/21 from that
it's a cold cruel world in the entertainment biz, wish it wasn't so, but I get tickled to see the performers blossom into stars ( :
no more Ns! brb, gotta run bathwater
i will admit though, if i ever have a serious illness or injury, i'd go to dartmouth/hitchcock in a heartbeat. some of the best doctors and nurses on the planet.
lol at stid and feather, cute
ok, andree. need ca4/5 (suit****) + no out. then ca4/5 + *oyal *navy
later feather!
I am sad to say that I have stayed away from Idol all these years and this season I'm hooked...I do not like the mean and cruel comments either but I do enjoy the entertainment and love to see when someone nails it...some of the women last night were wonderful!
see ya feather
all of the blacks ones sure did eh nonnie?
I'm agree, Nonnie. I thought the women far out-shone the men!
ed 4/6?
thx kanga
I better get back into the grid ( :
Oh, I thought the last performer (bad with names) was wonderful and yes, I thought the woman were so good that I perdicted a woman will take it this year.
That's really good to hear. I've been used, for so many years, to having all of the medical services of Boston available to ms, and after we moved here I suddenly realized that here we were, moving into our older years, away from all of that. We are right in between Dartmouth and Fletcher Allen in Burlington, but I've been there with friends and haven't felt that good about it.
down to 9. vi5/16? anyone?
I need three more Cs to clear that letter... CA 6/21 after the 5/22 that is a rushlike plant; and the CE 5/12, 6/21 combo vefore the end...
go kanga go!
go kanga!
Nonnie everyone has their on take on the Idol show. I think I am a little more sensitive to their insensitivity than most...but I work with a person that lives to talk, gossip and make fun of people. Idol is one of her favorite shows...therefore it is my least favorite.
add a hooked consonant in the middle of second vi4...
ca6 -- you get them in your teeth, stid. c + ram zodiac figure.
kanga, do you need the misspelling of something that gives you a cold? or the other?
cause, I don't have the other.
That is too bad smd. I wish people weren't so cruel.
thanks kanga!
thanks stid. i need the other one now!
morning kanga
don't have the other one... sorry.
and morning everyone
paula isn't cruel for the most part smd
morning, girlie. coffee kicked in?

s'ok stid. we'll get it eventually.
don't need to share that with everyone, girlie.
Nonnie....I have learned not to pay any attention to her, but she sure has hurt several coworkers feelings. I dont understand why one of them does not file a PTI against her...she is just plain mean!
:P sorry
;), girlie
ha. finally got my last C!
kanga- the other is vi + juliets boy *om**

prism, the crunchy bread cubes you put on a salad (minus the "u")
I think it's better -- doc put it in a cast a week ago and he hasn't complained about pain since. I think he was just too active and even with the brace it was moving around.
He hates the cast though...
ty Mrs lfd
stid...what is the ho8?
no prob
cdv - plural of th6/21, a body part.
or th + either/** + top scoring cards
:-D glad you asked! the HO 6/27 #1 is a wierd one... ho + the place bears sleep in with a double first letter
there is no HO 8 though...
oh...okay thanks for the 6 though...I needed it!
thnks, stid
Stid---a cast immobilizes better than a splint in an active kid, but it is annoying and itchy. Not much longer for him though.
I need help with the ce4/5...first one...
I hope not. We go back middle of next week to check its progress by xray...
ok. i'm off then. thanks for all the fish (and the clues)!
Bye kanga, congrats.

there's an end to the screaming tantrum stage
wow, 2 minutes of silence...starting to wonder if I was still connected.
ROFLOL, featherbee.

ty how about the other is it related
go Dorens!
I clued both Sheryl...
must have missed it stid
I have 116 to go, Doren---I do not expect to finish
he and doug were playing the computer game. it ended, game finished naturally. i tried to get him to the bath, he started crying about the game ending. so i said we can skip the bath, let's go read stories. he calmed down, changed into pj's, read stories, did the whole routine. as i'm turning off the light and bringing him to the crib, he spots the bathroom door down the hallway and decides he wants his bath now. so is currently screaming in the crib because i'm not willing to undress him and go through the whole routine again. sigh. it's been one of those days.
ah got it ty
whoa, i wrote a lot!
actually, he's calming down right now. just angry mutterings every now and then.
you got it off your chest....good for you. sounds like you're being a very unreasonable mother (to a two=year old's way of thinking)
you did. you sound pretty upset... (((feather))) you're not a bad mama, you're being flexible without being a doormat.
yes dorens, that's exactly what the problem has been! mommy's not letting daniel rule the world 24/7
oh, mean mommy...good mommy :)
i'm going to go in once i know the occasional hollers are done, and wish him a real good night
stick to your guns feather... you're a wonderful mother and you DO know what happens when you let them rule the world!
why oh why can't I see the 1st ca 4?
like i said, it's been one of those days, pretty much since breakfast. ah well. he will eventually learn that screaming does not get me to say yes, it in fact makes me want to say no more!
LOL, helps when we spell he words correctly, huh? DUH
holy d's!!! I hardly have any and didn't realize there were so many...
got it. I guess I could see it after all
de 6/24? please and thank you
brb, he sounds settled
you know feather, when mine were that age I told them I couldn't "hear" them when they whined or screamed... it worked! :-)
another clue on th 6-21 please
Great idea, Stid.
oh, good idea stid! i'll try that tomorrow.
he's all peaches and cream now, said a sweet goodnight, tucked in his panda bear, and is ready to sleep.
We say we can't understand them when they whine and cry.
Good luck, everyone... I'm off to make popcorn and watch Idol and Survivor! Have fun! I'll see you all tomorrow.
bye bgl!
well...it is popcorn time in my house too...american idol is on and I am anticipating antonella going home...she sucked last night!!
Then we just keep saying "Try again" until they say their piece in an acceptable tone of voice.
I'm with you greeny! I did not like her one bit!
i tell him we don't scream, so he shuts his lips and "mmmpfs" at me. pushing it kid!
feather, sometimes a short attention span is a blessing, huh?
bye bgl
very much so mrs.
A big part of parenting is teaching kids to recognize and deal with their emotions, in healthy ways. But, think of adults drowning their emotions with alcohol/drugs, or going to "anger management" classes.
I think we fall in love with the kids again every night as they sleep. They all look so cute and seem to just grab at the heartstrings.
toodles everybody!
bye, green
That reminds me of a great mothering book called Mittenstrings to God. I cannot think of the author right now.
yep, scrabbler. i don't want him to stuff emotions, but be able to calm himself down appropriately. thus when he does this, i'll say "can you calm down here, or do you need to go to your crib to calm down?" either choice is fine with me, whatever works to calm him.
definitely, scrab.
later BGL and greeny
bye greengeeny
I love the name, Scrabbler!
I think something I did "right" -- as opposed to the many thing I didn't... was I told the children they can feel as angry, sad, frustrated (etc) as they want, but that they may not take it out on me or anyone else. Then we practiced appropriate responses...
DE 6/21 please?
yup, that's my attitude to stid
too*
a term of affection
rofl, or your attitude TO me... both work!
good parenting techniques.... you two want to come teach parenting workshops at my school?
it's so great to hear all these good parents, when walmart seems filled with clueless parents and their unruly progeny.
thanks feather, thought I'd tried it... *sigh*
who's watching idol? why are they mentioning these people?
Katrina Kenison is the suthor: Mitten Strings for God: Reflections for Mothers in a Hurry. I have given it as a gift for new moms.
Can someone mentor the ones in Walmart please!
dorens, as a kindergarten teacher, i wish i could give many of my parents lessons
I think there is some sort of idol elimination today feather....
feather, those are the stars that will be coaching the idols to sing their music
sadly, daniel's been one of hte ones in wal-mart a time or two. it's hard when they decide to have a tantrum in public.
oh, awesome! i only started listening when i heard bon jovi, my honey
As a pediatrician, I wish parents would listen to my lessons and advice.
scrab, tell them if they don't they should find another pediatrician (but you might have an empty office for a while, there)
unfortunately, so many of the clueless parents are so overwhelmed that a "class" or even reading a book about parenting is beyond them. I wish parenting -- or "uncling and aunting" was taught in school. If more adults (not just parents) had skills to deal appropriately with children the world would be a better place.
hey, you're only a doctor, what could YOU possibly know, right?
but yes 4 are going home tonite
It isn't the public tantrums themselves I mind witnessing. What drives me crazy is when the kids are misbehaving and the parent does nothing about it.
I have offered my kids the option of a treat prior to going into the stores so that they would behave in an acceptable manner in public. I think that is called bribery but it worked.
stid.. i think we should have not only classes, but a test to get a license (like driving) before h aving kids. sometimes
I once stepped OVER my tantruming child in a baseball stadium's gift shop. The other adults looked at me very strangely, but in less than 30 seconds, the child had given up and come to find me...
I agree, vicuna.
bribery is also called positive reinforcement
AMEN, dorens.
I attended a Community College that had a Child Development Center there. if your child attended you had to take at least one class a semester. I learned much in those days.
I spend time with the parents that are interested in being responsible parents. When I get the cue that my advice is not wanted, I move quickly through the visit. It is so sad.
don't always assume that just because a child is screaming in public that the parent is not a good parent...i've gone into a store armed with everything, snacks, paper and crayons, toys, etc in the diaper bag, singing songs, etc, and if he's in a rotten mood, he's going to be in a rotten mood.
So true feather.
it really is scrab. and no, feather, most of us know that we all have our moments, even kids. the kids who get everything they want in the store, just to be kept quiet....those are the parent s who need watching
I wonder if things were better when families were multi-generational? I have a dream that they were, but in the few multi-generational families around here it seems the problems are also multi-generational
ok, enough venting from me! ra6/24?
Change of pace -- where was that community college?
Yesterday we were at a program at the library, and kids were rough-housing, talking, screaming, and the mothers sitting beside them didn't even say "shhh." The rest of us couldn't even hear what the speaker was saying.
hi Vi!
Interesting conversation folks....even at my age, and as a grandparent, I am still learning how to parent. I love the advice...especially when I take it and find that it works!!
ra6/24 - speed contest + myself
i called my mom this morning for help, he was just so out of sorts and i had zero patience...i think due to pg hormones, usually i can handle better. she came and visited for a while, we all felt better!
one time, in a public place two kids were being really obnoxious (and dangerous) and no parent in sight. So I scolded them -- the mother came rushing up and said, "I'll be the parent if you don't mind." I said, "I wish you would..."
San Jose California. I also had a daughter that participated in the first preshool for developmentally disadvantaged, thus the classes really helped me cope.
ty vic
Ohhhhhhhh Look everyone!! One of my success stories is on playing Babble!! Hi DRWED!!

Hi Blood....

Bloodaxe!
hi bloodaxe! you're sort of in the grid today!
on the plane tuesday night.. ten year old son sitting behind my 24 year old daughter banging, literally banging on his tray table, which naturally disturbed her. I looked behind (in between the seats) at him and just shook my head sternly, not a word. She was hysterical cause it worked, he stopped.
smd, didn't you say he was ...i forget the age, but older? poor guy!
Hello, Blood, DRWED, et al.
smd: Still getting over a cold...or perhaps sinus infection
Classes do make a difference Stid, especially since I had no experience with DD babies.
I guess I deserved that Stid!!
snp!!!! are you on messenger?
(not ten year old son...ten year old stranger!)
I can be
i am kinda in the grid today. one day i hope my FULL name is in the grid.
do it snp....do it.
hehe, as a teacher, i often find it very hard to not reprimand kids in public! i bite my tongue a lot
Sometimes kids won't listen to parents but a disapproving look from a stranger works wonders! I have actually had parents say "thanks" once or twice...
I've never been in the grid. * sniff*
Yes Feather he is older but he over a 1000 miles away....do I think I miss the scathing look.....HOWEVER...I think he enjoys the Mom Loving though!!
hee hee smd
Hi all, I am often in the grid :)
*sending vibes to Dr. G because alpaca and llama are definite grid-able words...*
aawww vic...someday you will be, just be patient
I once saw a young teenager with hickies all over her neck, I gasped with shock, she immediately went red, and her mother thanked me.
You've never had your full name, though, have you peri?
Almost 2000 miles away, in fabulous Las Vegas
hi peri
Hope you are well soon DRW....
No Vicuna, not yet

DRWED...did you know that you can click on an icon and read the profiles of the people on line.
"stid" is sometimes in the grid, and "mama" but I can't remember them being together.

It has been a few days since I heard from her...just hope she is not ill!
he had himself so worked up right before bed that now he can't settle.
part of stid's strange schedule was me, intruding on her babbling!
