thanks flosey! how do you use these clues?
al 11
ok, i'm beat
take the first 2 letters and create words from them, say cr5/12 5 letter word that adds up to 12 points
good nite everyone (only 100 to fniish off tomorrow)
goodnight helen
clever DrB!
alto
whoa. anyone get al11/96 yet?
tsk tsk
DrB did, monkey, but not me!
wa wa wee wa
phantom: mistletoe!
oooh nice one
Shalom Everyone
what does "phantom" mean...almost there but not quite?
exactly
shalom arb!
happy purim, ARB!
phantom: altimeter
shalom, ARB!
re 8/9
phantom is a word that you think is there, but it's not.
right
gotch melon
and no amount of typing will make it be there
lol
2nd that lol
Well, I certainly shut everyone up.
ARB! i wished you a Happy Purim
i'm deep in the grid, ARB
I had no chat for 8 minutes, and only after reloading the page do I see all the chat. Happy Purim one and all
lol
oh -- just saw you, ARB -- shalom!
Not chat for 8 minutes? Us? Doesn't sound like us.
morning all! Can I wish everyone a happy Purim too or is that only for a happy few?
happy Purim to you too ARB
of course you can, sprite!
in that case: happy Purim :)
Like your hamentashen, Melon. Sprite, of course you can -- it's a victory over the wicked
hi sprite
DrB, everyso often it happens -- my list gets updated with the words, but the chat log stands still and then all of a sudden, lots of entries with timestamps for several minutes.
we can never have enough victory over the wicked. Am looking it up now on google.
ps DrB, thankyou for the al 11
the chatterbox not movie unnerves me when it happens.
usually it is some hiccup of the site, lol, and not of us stopped talking
tx ARB - I actually made 5 dozen - yeast dough: poppy, apricot & prune.
It can legitimately happen when I'm on in the middle of my mornig and it's 3 a.m. in the US and quite early in Europe
hey ARB....clue for al11?
I love the special foods that go with the celebration!
you know what kind of day it will be, when your first word is 'coitus' and it is a phantom
lolol
i saw that too, sprite.
hehe Sprite
coitus being a phantom is never a good thing...
my thought exactly
I'll give it a try. al 11/96 is related to airplanes, I believe, so it is a compound word, comving a prefix for height and a measure for length
combining
circle gets the square
is it close to the phantom i saw?
yes
aaargh
tx ARB! good clue!
I tried not to be obvious.
hmmm...
If there was a u in this grid that would means another couple dozen words easily
hi all and happy Saint Pirran's Day!
yeah... coitus for instance :) Thanks for the 11, got it. It ended a little bit different than I initially thought.
that al is eluding me -- keep wanting to enter the instrument that measures altitude
hi MVA! Is that the same as Purim?
should have read Piran
cybernan, you are so cloes, just finish with efforts.
Nan - that's the direction, but as Sprite said, it ends a little different
Nan -- try pluralizing it
you are on the right track, nan. Take a double vowel in the last syllable.
yes, the second half is tricky
I mean, two vowels.
but the instrument ends in the US spelling of the measurement and the british spelling doesn't work.
is the second half French? Or am I completely off base?
ty for 11
it does, take our clues and you are there.
I said: try pluralizing it
plural doesn't work
it does
british spelling?
last syllable: 'attempts'
Try
no
ah -- finally -- thanks, sprite
doh! got it
doh! got it
phew.
british would be without the "extra" vowel, wouldn't it?
ty all got the al11
i lost like 5 pounds doing that one
Babble: its not just a game, its a diet
lol, teach me how to do that, MonkeyMind - with all these words I will be slim in no time!
lolol
ok. only 111 left. zzzzzzzzz
and there I was thinking you were a new addict coming on, MonkeyMind - but not when you go to bed with 111 left :) Sleep well!
Iraeli chocolate in teh grid ;)
Todah
oh...don't think i won't be dreaming about these words all night

french star(s) in the grid!
yay melon, that was a whole series of words for me :) Thanks
;)
omg, "the yiddishe clipper" is in the grid - mo4 & 5.
Found that last 8. You find a 6-7 and forget it could be a 6-7-8. Duh. That's enough fun for one night.
haven't found any of those 8-9 combos :(
Oh great, now I'll be thinking of Weird Al's "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" alll night
Melon - kol hakavod -- I didn't even think to try that as a word!
rofl
it was a lucky guess
your monkeys work well
The last 8-9 combo is off of a 5
who doesn't want a well working monkey?
is that clipper as in boat or as in scissorlike thing?
latter
someone who clips. not a barber by any means.
ok, the traditional boy clipping then maybe *still looking*
Sprite, it's the man who performs the religious circumcision
off ai 5?
no off of to5
the ai ain't off anything
good heavens, arb -- how are we supposed to know that!
no, mo
ai is in a supermarket
I bet you can google it.
i love it when conversations cross and it takes five minutes to get things untracked...
it's not a usual spelling, i don't think. . .
lol DrB, I was just thinking the same thing
only to 5 I have is the indian one
It's not, melon. And to boot, it's a real word (just looked it up) and has nthing whatsoever to do with a circumcision.
Nan, not to, mo
work off of that one (and think people)
dr B said the last 8-9 combo was of a 5 -- to 5?
yes
that's the "other" conversation at this point
I guess I have no idea which clues go with what!
evening all... total for today?
235
i'm talking the to 8/9 combo and ARB is talking the mo
lol, I am with you nan!
thanks arb!
(to ARB) - oooohhhhh - now I need to look itup.
study the to 5 and then study it with your colleagues
found them -- strange words!
now I need that m4/5 combo! My curiosity demands it!
i thought the 8 was a compound and then later it dawned on me that I was breaking it up in the wrong place
hi everyone
sill to 8/9 clue - carry fog!
sill, that is
or even silly?
and the sh combo?
hi andree! hi everyone!
hi andree
and fran
that is a compound and plural, and you might actually have one in your closet
yeah, silly - i'm all thumbbs.
great clue melon! i got that to8
got it -- thanks
hi mva!
ty DrB and Melon
hi fran
rien, amie
is the re combo a "do again" word?
the re is to go into armed services again
and here i thought the sh 8/9 was speeled as 2 words.
thanks, book
thanks book!
have all the 8's been called? -- missing two still
140 down, all the 7s, 8s, 9s & 11 - spectacularly mediocre tonite. laila tov all.

I always struggle with re words

Won't take reslim, though most of us know what it means, don't we !!!???
lol good enough for me too
I'm in the middle of reslimming just now, so it must be right !
Hi Liz & :I

hi lynxxx
So's my cat too.
Whom I've slandered in my profile, must amend that !
Its OK Liz - she apparently won't hear you - so unless she can read you are probably safe
Well she plays Babble regularly, so who knows ! Mind you she only finds/lkhdz usually !
LOL

Good morning/afternoon all.
hi haz
Hello Andree - reasonable size grid today.
it is haz and seems easier in some ways than smaller grids
Did you get to see the lunar eclipse the other evening?
morning Haz. Yes, we saw the start of the eclipse close to midnight.
no i didn't
We were fortunate enough to be at a friend's house in the country on a cloudless night. It looked spectacular!
as i heard nothing about it except on babble, i presumed it wasn't on show in southern hemisphere
Possibly not, Andree. Your turn will come sometime!
must get some dinner, back later, 40 left
Enjoy your dinner, Andree.
bye Andree
Fireworks
Well done ARB!
fireworks!
YAY Dee
And congratulations Volley!
ty yay ARB, too
oman
this didn't seem as tough as yesterday's..
omarse
I like your grager, Dee.
It's pretty user-friendly so far.
well, pillow time for me... but can I help anyone with one before I poof
I thought so too Haz
Yes, Haz, very few nonsensical words
ty Arb
had never heard of one before; was fun reading about them
I used one on Saturday night at the reading of the Book of Esther in synagogue!
aww how wonderful
well all be safe and have a wonderful Monday; I'll see you at the flip! Hugs to all. *poof*
Quite a scene -- 50+ kids in costume making as much noise as they can! When I was a child every girl was dressed up as Queen Esther; nowadays they are Barbies
I would prefer the Queen Esther look, rather than the Barbie look.... seems to miss the point
Queen Esther is old fashioned. Need I say more? Even in ISrael, or maybe especially in ISrael
so true... even at my part time job, I am reminded often that I am "old" and "old-fashioned" ... drives me nuts
Just be glad they weren't dressed as BRATZ. Those dolls are hideous.
well must *poof* love to all
There were some of those too, Haz. The kids in ISrael watch TV just like in the rest of the world, see the commercials, etc.
Bye Volley - from another old-fashioned babbler!
bye Dee
Well, I suppose you have to blame the parents for buying the silly things.
Must get on with my day as well. Book club coming to out house tonight and I must bake (keep up my reputation)
our house, gees.
Happy baking, ARB. May all your cakes rise....
Morning What a good grid today
Haz, I see with my daughters -- the parents do not take a firm stand when the kids wheedle and whine. I am from the old school.
omaeerikeadomgg,]akr
ARB - say no and mean no! It may be old-fashioned, but it works!
bye bye
yrd
Good morning FMItch - great grid and too tempting to stay, but have to get ready for out. See you later!
Good luck and TTFN
Byee!

Hi Jean !
has anyone seen angb lately? i haven't seen her in the chat for a while.
Not for ages Fran - have been wondering myself over the last few weeks - ?
i wonder if she's given it up, she still does the puzzles at quote-puzzler every day
mmm I would have thought she well and truly had the 'bug'. here's hoping she gets the urge again - she is really good fun
yes, love her sense of humour
if she doesn't come around soon, i'll leave a message for her in the QP boards.

Scrabbler, taht snow isn't perchance what's headed our way this eve, is it? :(
welcome!
welcome!
sprite your al clue...must be spelled the british way, no? but is there some other twist to it, because it's not accepting the instrument that measures height
I only have 2 ce4/5, and 1 ce5/12
inge, you must put your own 'word-in-the-chat' as last syllable.
tehre are 8 ce's peri
ah, I got it now, it's the now that describes the measuring of heights. tx
7 co's and 7 cr's
thaks Lori and sprite will look for them
tx, sprite, just a bit sleepy here.
first ce4 has double vowel, then there are 3 similar to the stuff you can burn to make a certain smell.
peri yuo have not changed you icon sence id known you LOL
Wait, I don't get that "al" word--I tried the Brit spelling of the instrument
ce8 clue plz
then 2 x ce related to bird's nostrils
there is no ce8
scrabbler, what I did too. Add an i near the end
Scrabbler - end it with the plural of a word meaning attempt, or what is known as a 'touchdown' in rugby.
sorry, misread sprite's post
have bird nostrils sprite, didn't know the def.
ty haz, inge, and sprite for that al
OK, got it now, TY, as always, Hazel.
You're welcome Wolvie.
we're talking bird nostrils?! which word means bird nostrils?
and then 2 x old greek female's belt or girdle, singl and greek plural (2 vowels at the end)
If I knew how to type, without looking at the keyboard, I could move along so much faster.
brb again
i here yu sc\
Inge: ce4/5 and 5/12 combo
scrabbler, gloria steinem said a generation of women should grow up refusing to learn to type...we're just doing our part, lol
tx sprite.
There's the return of the lovely sh8/45 and sh9/60 - for those who dream of footwear forests.
this biologist always happy to learn new words for nostrils and the like
have 7 of the ce words
ooh, ty Haz, lovely clue
I want one in my garden, Haz, for my kids at least!
LOL, Inge2. That reminds me that in high school I was doing so poorly in typing (this was 1975 or '76), that I had to drop the course lest I get a D or F.
It would certainly save a lot of money, sprite!
Funny clue, Hazel.
ty haz
tx, haz. railroad tie(s) is back again today also
You're welcome!
Oops, I used a word--just found it.
hehe, scrabbler, nice.
What is that, Inge2?
tr7 and 8 combo. not really the railroad tie, more like the span or bridge, or a type of simple table
Oh, we had that yest or Sat. TY
yes, we did
inge, is that you with your pup??
yes, une
I have two, now 6 years old
ty inge - that tr was staring me right in the face. :-)
adorable! (both of you!)
Cute, Inge2. And, Une, cute pic.
soooo sweet, both of you, Inge!
tx, little pup is rather gray now but still a doll
What are their names, Inge2?
thanks . . .
Simultaneous phone call, and pm. I (knew I would) will be inheriting #1' boyfriends cat.
Winnie and Lyra, Scrabbler
great names!
that's exciting, Lor...is she a nice kitty?
tx, Une.
He's a very nice kitty. A step brother to our 2 cats.
Cute, Inge2. I like learning pets' names--it is interesting to hear what people choose and why.
aww...then all will get along fine
He's stayed with us before, and they all get along and he's familiar with the house, so it will be great.
nice lori. :-)
love your icon today, Une!
bbl
Later peri
going with the theme! :-D
bye peri
hi and bye, peri
G'd morning Une (I believe I may have missed your entrance)
Bye peri, see you later.
bye peri
How do you guys know what the theme is each day?
inge - I for one don't know. :-)
bye peri
it's in Babbler's profile
ahh - there's the answer. :-)
Hi Wolvie
haven't seen Babbler in ages :(
good morning everyone. how's the grid today?
good morning everyone. how's the grid today?
hi there scrabbler -
so you wait till Babbler signs on and then you know?
She pops in and out occasionally.

Wolvie, I got photos from my friend in Holly Springs, of their son, and putting up a backyard playground, and the weather looks great down there!
***Lori's glad somebody knows what's going on around here*** :)
it's been fab scrabbler - I went plant shopping all weekend - in short sleeves. :-)
G'd morning Dispatch

I agree, Lori.
hi Dispatch, and Une too..

she locked the door after me last night!!!
*pretends she doesn't see ingy thingy*
with you in or out? :)
hi inge
Morgen, Inge
hi inge
after I left, but first she made me climb in the boarded up window
Hello inge. I think nutty has been ashore for too long. She needs to get pirating again.
G'd morning inge
I turned her in as atroublemaker
a simple declaration of me being your favorite person ever in the whole wide world will stop the nonsense ingy
babblers, watch what you say, she will tattle every time
well, you are on my Friends list
Just so you can keep your head down when she's on!
REALLY!! yeah, probably so you can watch out for me.
no, I entered her name when she and rennie and chj wrote such entertaining bios, that was always my first stop when I came to the grid
brb.. coffee
aaaaaaaah....well sometime we'll have time to entertain with bios again
Ok, to work in the grid! *splash*
pour me one too, Aloy?
That has to count for something in getting you on the approval rating again.
argh...phantoms: sensitive and elastic!
mine was worse, Dispatch. It was the very first word I saw: coitus.
lol
we know where you mind is sprite. ;-)
cannot deny that :)
How can a 4 letter word be so elusive. I am generally proficient with 4 letter words..... :)
Any theme for icons today?
ok I give up....I need a clue for the a 11
hi liz
grooming products!
Lori, what do you need?
me too, wurdy
wurdy-the science of measuring heights
Fine, I think mine fits the bill!
and the plural
plural for the readings that the instrument that measure height takes
nm finally found it sprite. (slaps forhead) Thanks anyway!
thank you very much was giving me grey hair and I just had it colored lol
Sprite, have a cup of Zapatista.. mmm, good
thanks Aloy! Needed that :)
woman on tv had a 93 lb tumor, didn't know it
speaking of that wurdy-a question for the assembly of babble women of a certain age....I have always had my hari professionally colored in fear of turningmyself green or something. Do the home coloring kits really work?
yes they do, as long as you dont go too far away from your natural color.
Dunno', never dyed my hair in my life.
thanks for the a 11 clue, even I found it at last
for green hair you have to bleach AND use something for red hair, Eva.
I like te Feria it gives a lot of dimension and different shades of color
I used Preference Creme by Loreal, eva -- tbe(so far) one time I've tried a home color kit
whoa aloy.
hi ch
yes, eva! they work just fine!
or for green hair go blond and then swim in highly chlorinated pool
Home kits work fine, and if you've got short hair you can get two sessions out of a pack!
Prefernece creme is really good on grey stubborn hair
I have really thick hair and need two kits
hi wolvie -- I've been here awhile, just quiet (I know, unusual for me! :)
something like that happened to me too, Aloy. It is possible, if it grows on a place where you don't see it.
do you recommend a certain brand? And do you mean your original natural color? My "natural" color at this point is mainly gray-but I always have it colored they way it was-which is a medium brown with a little bit of red. Any tips for a first timer
G'd morning quiet ch :)
wow, sprite.. hers was ovarian cyst.. she is doing fine post surgery
Eva, as long as you don't want to bleach, you don't have to worry. Take a good brand and follow the instructions and you will be fine - and beautiful :)
Eva, mine is also medium brown with red (redder when I was a younger Irish lassie) .. I use Light Reddish Brown by Loreal
Eva...I dont even know what my natural color is anymore...I would stick to the color that matches your roots the closest
weighed 563 lbs, 32 years old.. she's on NBC now
Will it make me thin too sprite? And as I have fairly long and curly hair, can I really do it myself or do I need help from a friend?
mine was the size of a small rugby ball, Aloy, the surgeon said.
The thing to remember if you want to go with a red tint is that red does not hold as long, it fades quickly
I was wondering how you could miss 93 pounds - wow
wow.. did it hurt?
only if you start drinking it, Eva, which I don't recommend :) And you can do it yourself, it is easy. But it is more fun with a friend :)
It seems that most of the brown dyes end up giving you a little red highlight anyway.
Eva you probably could on your own, but it's more fun to have a friend help
i have long hair, i've done it myself... i mean i've just done the washout kind for fun, i don't have grey.... but it is real easy
not when it was there, Aloy. Taking it out was worse, lol.
I always need help I cant ever seem to get my roots good enough and if you hair is long you might need someone to help with the back
i am color applying challenged though
Thanks everyone! I think you've given me the courage to do it at home, with a friend. Maybe I'll start by trying a small section underneath or something.
hurshy i'm so glad you managed the icy rain storm we had last week. I thought about you. It was worse I think here in north central Mass.
hoist
go for it Eva saves a TON on $$$$$$$
hi hursh
nice one liz
got that one, lizmac
Yes wurdy-and I'm not always happy with the professional results either.
yeah, it was pretty much just rain when i drove.
oops,sorry
The last ce 6/21 had me pulling my hair out. I always forget that possible vowel ending. Ack!
yes, greek plural, can be real nasty to remember
it took me a bit as well lori
which one are you guys referring to? Don't know if I have it already or not
I have two ce6/21's. Is there another?
ce6/21 there are 3
3 ce 6/21's
drat!
reminds me of an old cleaner's name eva - le**oil - just remove a few letters
I have the attention span of a gnat this morning.
lol, well, i think i got the one you were talking about, but don't have the other two (of course i just started, so....)
Making little progress because I'm highly distractable. Oh look, a bird.....
heh lori
what kind of bird, Lori?
the sun is actually out today..I forgot what it looked like
A starling unfortunately. Noisy little thieves.
if you can see its ce5/12 it is a flying clue, Lori!
bbl -- have to dash
bye ch!
Later ch. Happy dashing!
bye ch
later, ch
fireworks
WTG sprite!!
congrats!!!!!
BRAVO, Sprite!!!
great grid today :) And great company of course
Congrats sprite!
Medication is my only hope now.
half way taking a break
anything I can help with?
Later wurdy
bye wurdy
Can you increase my attention span sprite? :)
Just got back in from a spot of gardening. The sun was shining, and got rid of tons of rubbish. Then it started raining, so I had to stop. Oh dear!
do you have a toasted bagel, Sprite?
hi, wren
*takes a deep breath and blows up the spannnnnnn*
I have 4 of the v's - vi 4/7, vi5/16, vi 4/7, and vi 5/16 - what am I missing?
hey wren! *hands Aloy a bagel*
hi exwren
another vi4/7 and 5/16, Wolvie
tx, Sprite.. munch, munch
Another 4/7 5/6 Wolvie
G'd morning Ex
one Vi combo rhymes with not boys but ....
got them - ty sprite - just needed a nudge. :-) and lori
sprite is a great provider this morn!
yay, especially with bagels! *puts big plate with bagels in the middle of the babble room*
all silent while we devour bagels...
jus realised I forgot to change my icon
What is the second co 5/14 please?
the cheese lori same letters as the flying rock
had the word, didn't know what it meant... ty Wolvie
yw
Ack! Thank ye muchly. a) didn't know it b) didn't know it was a cheese c) would never have gotten it d) what were we talking about?
cheese? did someone say cheese?
yum, for the bagels of course
We've forgotten the cheese Grommit
we sure did sprite. :-)
yummie!
I am missing 2 i's from the top row, 4th column i - I have the lane and plural, what am I missing?
is5.10 and its pl... sounds like a spikey weed with seeds that finches love, minus the th at the front
ahhh ty aloy - new word to me. :-)
glad you got it, Wolvie.. learned it from Babble a while ago
well - that was a great clue, especially since I feed finches. :-)
have to be off, sorry guys. Have fun :)
bye sprite - and thanks for the help
bye, sprite... see you next time!
Later sprite, have a great day!
hi and bye sprite
howdy, TO!
G'd morning TO
hi temple
Holy cow, a mere 2 hours of low attention span Babbling, and I hit 100 words. I rock!
Or not....
lol lori
Is asking for the er 5/10 gonna' require a fish as well?
good morning all
probably - sounds like a v word for song lines. just no v. :-)
hi mom
G'd morning mom
er5/10 - with a v at the front they would appear in hymns or poems
wow..my friend's kid played on my computer yesterday and screwed up my settings..i don't know how to fix them...the letters are HUGE.. how annoying
Back again after lunch and phone calls..
Ack! Thank ye muchly.
Later HAz.
hi again haz - I see we offered the same clue - I must be getting better. :-)
sorry to hear that, mom
You're doing fine, Wolvie!
mom, go to page, select text size
Are you in explorer or firefox mom?
go to page, where??? i already went into control panel, settings and set them to normal..that didn't help
she also made my screen smaller..
Forget the control panel, it isn't there
this is why i don't let people use my computer!!! lol
explorer or firefox mom?
Mom, hold down your ctrl button, and use the wheel on your mouse to adjust the text size.
God, Lori..where would i be without you ??? lol
Got it mom?
uummm...explorer i believe
um, but if it is the whole screen, not just the web, she does need control panel.
yeah..it isn't actually the text..it is the picture..
control panel, and then (depending on which version of windows) either display or "appearance and themes"
do you see that, mom?
my screeen doesn't take up my whole monitor anymore..there is now a border..i can't see the whole grid and the chat box at the same time...
which do you have, "display" or "appearance and themes"
Ahh, the whole thing, not just the text. That's different
ok...let me try appearances..and put mike on the bus...give me less than 5 minuts...
ok, then choose "change the screen resolution"
ok..i have appearance..
after resolution...???
then there should be a sliding bar
set it to 1024 by 768, see if that is more to your liking.
Oh Orionova, I didn't know you could do that with the wheel on your mouse, but I had the hell of a job to get it back to the right size. Good game though
i see appearances..but there is no resolution..other than color
oh, sorry - you have to go to the "settings" tab
look at the box that says screen area next to the color
then you should see the sliding bar.
ok..let me look..i have mike going on the bus, vin trying to get his own cereal..the dog grabbing everything in sight..and i am trying to fix a screen when the window keeps disappearing LOL....why do i do this to myself...
breakfast break.. bb soon, 18 to go
bye aloy
39 left here
ok...now it is way too small LOL...they don't give a choice other than 800 and then 1024..or something like that..how do i get in between there?
is it not a sliding bar?
actually, this might be ok, if the screen took up the whole monitor area...i still see a black border, instead of using all the space.
you should be able to slide the bar left and right to various positions until you get the size you want.
it is a sliding bar hurshy..but it goes from one space to another....doesn't let you stop in between the slashes (like on a ruler)
1024 by 768 is usually good...
did you click "apply"?
looks like one inch, two inch..it doens't let me stop on like, 1 1/2 in...understand what i am trying to say
how do i do by 768????
i understand, that is the way it is supposed to be.
i see 1024...but i don't see the 768
the second dimension should go with the first automatically.
you are right..it is there.
so try 1024 and click apply, see if that is good.
how do i lose the border all around my screen?? i like it to fill the whole monitor space?
actually, for that you might need to push buttons on your monitor.
do you have four buttons on your monitor, 1 < > 2?
F11 for full screen
i tried that..alright.at least now i can see the grid and the chat..lol..when my friend comes over, i will make her get rid of this annoying border..besides i can only stay a few minutes anyway..i should really be gone already
ooh, didn't know about the F11 shortcut.
wow..that f11 didn't solve the problem..but it is cool for a quick fix..ty
f11 got rid of the favorites and the toolbar..but it didnt lose the border nonsense
yw
is it that blue woven-looking border?
no..just black....
hitting the double sq thing next to the red x doesn't help either.
ah, you need to adjust your monitor settings to expand the screen image horizontally and vertically to get rid of the black edges
that sounds right..but how do i do that?
i thought if i put the mouse there, that double arrow thing would appear and i could stretch it, but no such luck
usually the buttons on the front of the monitor do it. there's a menu button and four arrow keys
these four buttons up front say...esit, menu and two picutres..one looks like a light bulb and the other a circle, split in half.
push menu and see what happens\
only gives me contrast
you may not have size control then
but it was always right...then these two 9 y/o touched crap yesterday and screwed it up !!! li'l brats LOL
ask them now. they know, i'll bet ;->
well folks, I am tuckering out - 32 left and I'm going to take a break - bbl this afternoon to finish
you are probably right LOL
*how, i meant
ok..i gotta run anyway...i should be at school already...ty for the help e1...
Bye Wolvie, see you later.
Later Wolvie
Thats a couple of things I've learned today - didn't know about F11 Sam, that was quite interesting. I suppose I have mom to thank for this learning event
babblers, advice please. i found a job on craigslist that would be perfect for me, and sent my resume in. but i have no idea how much it pays... and i kind of need to know that ASAP because a number of decisions are hinging on it. it says "please, no phone calls about this job" as many of the ads do, but do you think it would be absolutely horrid if i DID call and express my enthusiasm for the job?
hurshy, I would express interest in the same mode, ie by internet and ask for permission to call for further info
but if they don't respond to my FIRST email today, why would they respond to a SECOND email today?
ooh, didn't know about lack of response.. and you did express a time line?
no, well, at the time i was just applying, but now i've realized i kind of need to know today a) approx how much it pays and b) whether they are at all interested in me
i mean i sent the app friday night, so it's not like they are being unreasonably slow, today would be the first time they COULD reply. that's why i am worried that they won't reply today, i mean, they don't know i need to find things out ASAP.
you could tell them you have received another offer(s) and you would rather not accept until you hear from them because the job seems ideal..
ooh, but that would be lying!
can i do that?
well, "considering another offer" is not lying
but i have not got another offer
And you wouldn't be the first to tell a porky
unless you count "staying here and being supported by my husband"
good.. so, you would be truthful
Hi all,
porky? never heard that term ExWren
hi peri.. don't see you in the grid for a change, lol
porky pie = lie. A bit of cockney slang
no not today, Aloy
my sources tell me they have not yet filled the position, so that is something. i feel sure they would hire me (is that arrogant?)... it really is a perfect match.
"I am certain that my skills match your job description"
holy cow, to 8.45, an expert on carved indian poles?
morning all
hi, pris!
well i did say those sort of things in my cover letter
hey thanks for the to8
tack on a pl, hurshy
Thanks from me, too.
woohoo, that box is grey
btw, what's the 11 start with?
al, hurshy
al
thanks from me too!
ooh, how unexpected
im back for more action! 9:54, let's see how long this takes
fly high, hurshy and test the altitude
woot, got it
good job
good morning!
oohhh, me too!
(and thanks from me, too)
wahoo, une
yvw
heavens to betsy, i really want to call them.
call them, sincerely, Betsy
lol
I'm thanking you as well Aloyisius
well, if they are impressed by initiative, how could you lose?
but what if they aren't impressed by initiative? lol
hi ExWren, yw
At least you would know, one way or the other
great icon, exwren! :-)
don't give them your name hurshy...
hello babblers
yeah....
mornin babblers!
lost my post.. hi ExWren, yw.. howdy Bloodaxe
but i have to give my name i want to know if they are interested in me at all
As an employer I look for people who take the initiative to call & find out. It says that they're motivated & self-starters
i'm sorry. i thought you just wanted to inquire about how much the job pays
even if you put "please, no phone calls" in the ad, prism?
I don't put that in the ad. <grin>
sigh.
I thought you had already applied for the job
on craigslist it's a standard thing you check or no
so do you think maybe it doesn't mean much then, une?
like what would be the motivation for checking one vs. the other?
I always assumed it was to weed out the non-serious
hurshy, you don't know me from Adam, but I know from experience if they say don't call and you call, they probably will write you off as someome who does not follow directions! I'd stick with emails. Good luck to you!
Have you applied?
i did apply, but i kind of need to know TODAY if it pays enough for me to live on
You can call them, tell them you put in an application on _______ (whatever date) and you were curious about a few things
188 words in 9 minutes, but now im slowing down
What kind of compensation package do they offer
Why is it aboslutely necessary to know today?
but what about what pastor J said?
it's kind of complicated, exwren...
and at the same time find out when the closing date on applications are
fireworks, fun grid today
But I think I agree with pastor, you go against their instructions, thenyou could be a trouble maker
hursh, I can't imagine they would hold it against you if you explain WHY you need info ASAP
congrats, aloy!!
WTG Aloy!
hurshy Ring as someone who is interested in applying for the job, but need to know if the salary is suitable - before you apply (white lie)
so basically, it depends on the person's personality. if they are like une, all good, if they are like exwren and pastor j, no good
she doesn't want to ;ie
salary is probably "commensurate with experience".. or there may be a job scale rating, as in the govt
You don't need to explain to them why you need the info.
i understand . . . I break out in a sweat just considering the possibility of having to lie in a situation like that!
they said to send in salary expectation, which i did. i would totally take a little less for this job. but not a LOT less.
did you say "willing to negotiate"?
if it is $5000 less than i want, i would do it, but any more than that lower and i can't
i said a salary of "around such-and-such"
that sounds willing to negotiate, right?
Did you apply for the position online?
yes, prism, via email.
hmmmm . . . dunno . . .
and is it a local company?
i wish people would just always post the salary range when they post a job!!!
but i'm no expert, hursh
it's not local to where i am now, local to where i am supposed to be moving in 2 days.
Ok. Here's my advice:
Surely another email wouldn't hurt, that's not phoning
haven't always been a pastor; I used to be an employer. Enthusiasm is good; pressure is bad. One well-worded email indicating your sincere interest and your willingness to negotiate salary, just as a followup to your application, is about all you can do. Some people come across as wanting to get a job just so they can relocate, and then they leave for something else. You don't want to sound like that. I agree, they should just post the salary range so people would know!
well, I'd like to stick around but must go.. happy babbling all.. good luck with your decision, hurshy - maybe you will soon get a reply and that will solve the conundrum.. hope so! Byee
1. Call them & ask where they are in the application process.
it's a non-profit, if that makes any diff...
2. ask them what the compensation package is
in the meantime get more applications out
don't put your eggs in all 1 basket. You'll want other options
oh, i have tons of apps out, and some people want to interview me. only, i want THIS job.
imo, never, never ask about compensation until they offer a position
I am still agreeing with pastor j
inquire about status, and indicate you are very interested in the position
ok, i will send second email, and then try to take spock's advice
"spock's advice"?
"Live long & prosper"?
from star trek VI
"Use the force"
"we must have faith... that the universe will unfold as it should"
TOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
excellent advice
"Follow your heart. That's what I always do."
hi everyone
Hello magzel.
Hey Mag
morning, magzel :-)
Fireworks.
wtg angel!
break time. back to work for me!
congrats, angel!!
ACK, i hate uncertainty.
been here too long (since about 8 am) taking a break. Find remaining 31 laer I hope
drat that heisenberg.
slim
oh, damn. sorry folks
Nothing in life is certain . .
except dissatisfaction, death and taxes.
started at 954, done at 1029... pretty reasonable
tor, my browser is showing us to have the same icon today! But I've changed mine, and see that you have too when I click your profile. Guess I better dump my cache and refresh...
lol... you don't knit or garden and you don't have cats, lol
Just trying to stand out from the crowd . .
i know, lol, that is why it is so funny
I can see yours, K.
We apparently picked the same icon Friday. On Tupperware day Une and I had the same for awhile too. Hope I'm original today - "grooming products"
I emptied the cache and refreshed so now I'm seeing current icons
good morning, everyone :)
hey, nan!
cute icon, une
heavens to betsy, what a wreck i am
that's the second time i've said heavens to betsy today... goodness me.
Mercy!
great scott!
Good morning cybernan.
oh, yes, mornin cnan, don't mind me, i'm a wreck.
Heavens to Mergatroid
good one, brabble
hurshy, I was lurking on the tail end of your interview saga, and just wanted to give you a suggestion - send the hiring authority a hand-written note, thanking them for the time they spent with you in the interview, and repeat how you feel you can do the job and what's more, how much you would like to work with them. In this day of electronic mail, a hand-written snail-mail note is a refreshing and often will sit on someone's desk for some time, reminding them of you. If it's a choice between you and someone else equally qualified, that could tip things into your favor. good luck.
oh, i definitely will, after the interview! only, i haven't had it yet, i've only sent in my resume. and i just am wanting to find out if there is any chance.
oh sorry, thought you already interviewed, lol!
the thing is, it is seriously a perfect fit. i mean perfect. like as if the job and i were made for each other.
and me, loving novels as i do, it is very tempting to be like, well, of course it will work out then, because it has to, it is so perfect.
but, um, i don't think life works like that.
wish it did :(
hurshy: what will be will be . after you give it your best, that's it. sometimes we are not the judge of waht is best for us
now i feel like it was really pushy to send that second email... worry worry worry
STOP WORRYING! CAHNNEL EBERGRY IN TO THE POSTITIVE
LOL
CHANNEL ENERGY
on the plus side, worrying seems to be very good for my word finding.
except for that stupid upper S... what on earth 8 more words can i find from there???
oy
then here's my suggestion for you - call the hiring authority (not H.R.) and tell them that you've forwarded on a resume and wanted to confirm that he/she has seen it - and you would love the opportunity to set up a time to get together. And by the way, it's not pushy to send the 2nd email, but people rely on email far too much these days and it's too easy for people to procrastinate calling someone back. IMHO, people create opportunities for themselves and being at the right place at the right time and just plain luck also play into things...be professional, be sincere, but don't let your resume end up in the circular file - make things happen for yourself.
sorry temple, am i being aggravating?
no you are being hurshy! : ) : ) : )
now you aer frettinga bout the upper s
oh, here is a good sign, i think. another non-profit has listed a similar level job for the salary range i'm looking for.
i know i am fretting about the upper S, i was afraid that was what was aggravating :)
have you read my bio-preach, hursh?
no -profits are whereit's at, hursh - if i may be allowed a bit of vernacular
now i have brabble :) you always have good bio-preaches.
i am doing my thesison that. NO I AM NOT DONE YET
temple, was that "no - profits are where it's at" or "non-profits are where it's at"?
Hurshy, I'm sure if you have the qualifications they are lookin for you will make the short list and be hearing from them soon. I don't think an application followed by continued e-mails until you hear back from them is going to help -- just my opinion :)
non. it's the valium, i can't help it
yes, you are quite right cnan. my email has a "retract" button... do you think it works? do you think i should use it on that second email?
let it go hursh. it they like you it will work. if they fdon't no amount of followup will help
i found 3 of those S's, btw :) :)
On the other hand, I missed out on a great job once because the HR department messed up and never forwarded my application to the hiring department. It wasn't until after they had hired someone else that my boss (I had just started working pt in the department already) asked why I hadn't applied.
Hello all - Hurshy relax now you have done what you could - take a chill pill and let it be
i doubt they even have an HR dept, it probably just goes right to the relevant person, in this case.
there are too many other hands around here, i feel like an octopus
Precisely, K. Elisabet. Tho I am sorry I stuck in my two centinos before. It seems I can't start my day out without messing in someone else's business.
i do appreciate all the different perspectives, though :)
i guess it shows me that you just never know, and as temple said, que sera sera.
trust your guts; make a decision; and never lookd back
hello everyone
i have no guts... perhaps therein lies the problem.
hey rae
Hello raelite.
is it just me today...or is this grid a tad difficult? i have 114 left and feel like i need the list already!
hogwash
i'm finding it a fine grid... but then, nervous energy seems to help.
were I you, hurshy, I would be working on how I'm going to wow them when they call
okay then hurshy...give me some of that energy!
didn't think it was too bad -- going back and finding missed words is always tougher than the first run through!
*passes dispatch a twitch or two*
haz: how's your back today?
thanks for your kindness hurshy!
My back is interesting. I've got an appointment to see a specialist in April. That will be even more interesting.
ok, as long as you're not writhing in pain
hurshy if i were there i would give you a good shake! and i will saysomething that i hope is ot taken the wrong way. you are gong through oneof the most stressfu life experieinces. get counseling. you get helpa nd you get to keep your friends.
No, I'm the silent, stoic type.
snert ought to be a word, don't you think?
Are there many words ending in ence? It keeps beckoning to little avail.
ah...I always hoped we were kindred in some way :)
this is said with fondness i hoope you realize.
Hagar would like that
i do realize. i have been in counseling for over 2 years, and i haven't really got friends...
well, i do and i don't.
There is quietness ending in ence, lizmac
nevermind, enough of me, just babble.
there are some ence words but they are very quiet ; )
i only have 1 liz and it's plural
got that/those. Any more?
Think of the means of keeping guns quiet.
thank you haz and to...didn't have those ones!
I have four of those quiet ones
Me too.
the friends will come.
That's all there is of that letter sequence (pardon the pun)
haz your sciatica is with you again today

Aggravation from people?
excuse me - i thought odqay was italian movie day. help!
TO -- thats tomorrow. :)
I just have to, until they figure out how to get rid of it. Grit teeth and get on with life!
poor haz i know how awful it can be
There's bound to be an Italian movie about grooming. They're very well groomed in Italy.
i love cinema paradiso
another phantom: mistletoe
geesh there is an eleven!
Haz, Have they tried steroid injections for your sciatica?
what does that 11 start with please?
I should have said good afternoon to evanadine - apologies!
Hello everyone - just out of interest how do we know the theme of the day?
Not so far, she, traction is the latest gadget. I'm walking taller already.
i'm not sure if i even said hello yet - hello everyone!
lise
al11 -al, plus what the clock tells, plus another word for attempts or a plural touchdown in rugby
Hello TO (just to acknowledge your greeting)
thank you haz
is the singular a 9 or does that 11 stand alone?
Goosey, Babbler keeps a list in her profile of the various icon themes. If you find her in Rankings, click on her profile and the list will be there.
The 11 stands alone.
hello all!
thanks haz
thanks Haz - been wondering for ages
good...i couldn't find it as a 9!
Hello nonnie - and hope it helps, Goosey.
btw...i only have 2 9's: re and si. what am i missing please.
hello haz, how are you?
Hello Nonnie - I'm not too bad, thanks - what about yourself? Just beginning?
to9/60 - those in favour of Indian carved poles?
I'm doing just fine today. I was on earlier this morning and got just over 100 or this is my second attempt.
sh9/60 - plural of what some women would love to grow in a footwear forest
It's a nice grid, I think - not too many really peculiar words.
I agree and ty for the 9s!
thank you haz...great clues
You're welcome!
Hello again everybody!
Hello Charm!
hello charm
hi charm
Hi, haz, Nonnie, dispatch!!
Haz, just learned about your sciatica and I'm sorry, I know how beastly it is. But on the bright side, mentally you are in fine form today as always

He needed the dough.
You got me, Mom
Friday is the main laundry day, but it is bed sheets and towel day.
it is rare, BabbleRabble, that I can answer a riddle.
Why do businessmen carry umbrellas?
don't know Babble, why?
Because umbrellas can't walk.
nan, do you still need that se8? I just found it
LOL--that was cute.
oh ... groan
I do, I do! K.E>

flosey -- my parents rub that in every chance they get. ;)
Flo, are there any words which incorporate the "z" ?
don't remember having z in anything
Thank you.
flosey -- I guess you finished at about 6 am???

wow, that's a wiggly one!
phantom, senile, which I feel right now lol
which i'm obviously not feeling at the moment. :)
lol
I see phantom stoic, a real Babbler trait. LOL
Good morning Jilli. I've been at tyhe grid listless since 7:30 a.m. and I've got 122 words--have to stop now (housework)
phantom misteltoe
hi hetty -- housework? what's that?
Well, it's the thing my mother always said doesn't do itself
good one hetty
There are so many words that are common, and Babble won't take... but a simple word to demonstrate a trial that wasn't up to snuff is rejected... moan, groan, sputter!
yeah I tried that one too scarlet, grrrrrrrr
flosey, someone was asking about you yesterday and i don't recall who it was--I said you were around though, collecting fireworks a usual
Oh, I'm so relieved, gramma... that I'm not alone in Babblemazeland.
lol
thanks hetty, am usually in after flip for a while and then very early in the morning
Do-it-yourself is beginning to bore me. I'm thinking of taking up have-it-done-for-me.
foflol that's funny jilli
re8/40?
LOL jilli. If you have any left over, please send to North Carolina!
I've gone that route jilli - have a very good service if you want the name

Yea!!
HI all, et6 and et7 please

et = work + vowel
Hi, peri. e+ work hard, add second vowel
thanks flosey and Scarlet
YW :-)
er5/10 please
er5/10 like poems but without the v
those two huge "to" words have me stumped
found it jilli - La Conciergerie - they even handle house sitting, handyman services, meal delivery, etc.etc. I'll bring the card tonight
oo, great, flosey!
thanx Mary
monkey to8 one who creates to5/12 and plural
thanks Mary
Native American carved poles, as in one who studies them and plural. Use to5/12 + mi4/5
terrific icon, jillibus!
wow. thanks flosey
wow ty flosey that finished my 8s and 9s
only 65 left. i need some chocolate. :)

and thanks for the to's, flosey and scarlet
235
Yuk, I'll be here all day
Flo's clues are always the better! :-)
but Mary think of the great gabbing you'll do ( :
scarlet yours are good too ty
thanks scarlet, don't always feel that way personally
in this case, scarlet, I didn't have the poles yet so yours helped a lot
Awwww... TY. LOL, jilli
yow
BabRab is great with clues - Haz, sooo many others - depends time of day
and I am thick so sometimes I need several cluers lol
I love clueing but seldom finish soon enough to be of any use
You're exactly right, flosey. Some folks actually get angry when their clues aren't picked up right away... I could never figure that one out!
but your clues are good too jilli
chj used to be great too but seems to have abandoned the chat
some offer clues that go right over my head lol - too cerebral I guess
Have the same problem, Jill, and before I can think of a clue, someone beats me to it, in fact, several answers.
same here flosey lol
yes, I don't bother trying when the really good cluers are in
still give yours mary, like I said sometimes I can have just one ( :
sprite is paarticular about clues -- doesn't like "stick letter"' chair letter"' etc
flosey LOL
same to you flosey, the more the merrier
( i don't either)
flosey -- you're a really good cluer!
And you don't call yourself one of "those"?? LOL, flosey... you are a huge help!
yes jilli - there was quite an chat going on about those clues
me either most of the time jilli
but I want all cluers to clue regardless, at least until *I* get it lol
lol gramma, exactly
Ditto!
good morning. chair letter? haven't come accross that one
well, I won't be able to clue unless I get some words...back to the grid...
go jilli!
hey, lynxxx!
hi lynxxx
chair letter = h
come up for air occasionally jilli - when you get stumped
aahh of course - thanks Jilli
ok, flo
49 to go, break time. see y'all later, buddies!
break time for me, bbl, good luck all
Months ago, when I was just learning the Babble-speak, someone clues the snake vowel. I asked what it was, and apologized for my ignorance. The cluer started yelling in caps. to say the curvy vowel... I was at sea, until a compassionate Babbler told me it was an "s". Vowel?? Oh, boyoboyoboy!
lol book, you comin over?
bye gramma & gwen
bye all, am taking a break too, bbl
bye Mary
and gramma
and gwen
Bye, gramma and Mary and Gwen and all.
Scarlet - some Babblers are unfortunately quite forceful
bye Mary
Scarlet, that must have been one of the very strict ones who doesn't go for much in the way of clues
And a tad hyper, but it takes all types. LOL, flosey. I thought I was in the Twilight Zone for a day or two...
indeed, one has to think of the great number of babblers, we can't all think alike
such a diplomat, flosey :-)
glad you stayed with us scarlet
thanks une
love your icon une
For the most part, however, this is an amazing group of caring individuals. Awwww, flosey, you get a hug, and one for Une and one for lynxxx, and for everyone!
thanks :-D
LOL, Scarlet!
ty Scarlet - v sweet
love hugs
<3
will somebody please explain to enable that er5/10 is not a word, whereas er4/4 (which is not allowed) is "Er**, synonym for Irish and sometimes also for Scottish Gaelic. See Celtic languages." in the encyclopedia?
BTW has anyone heard from Kate since she moved to Ontario?
tha nk you Scarlet I am new and learning all the babble speak is good fun
hey e1
Hi all, I have been following the chat. I have to agree with Scarlet, when I started in Aug. of 2005 I played for a while and had a rough go of it with clues (giving and gettng) to the point I just quit. That is, until Aug. of 2006. I found this to be a Godsend for me. So may lovely people here, and more and more new ones everyday. Thank you, all for being here.
i was here a couple of times when Kate dropped by the chatlog--she seemed really happy!
glad you came back Mom
Hello both Moms!
thanks Une, glad to hear it
whoa - al 11?
glad you came back, MOM!
Kate is doing well, and in her new apartment. Thanks, mom, some folks are more gentle than others. Little mim, it is fun with most of us, though!
Hi Lynxxx. I am too Flosey
wangs4 has to do with measuring elevation
speaking of some being more gentle than others, how is this grid?? lol
I am not "into" finishing. I am here for the fun of it and of course the conversations
G'd afternoon Babblers!
did they ever have a reunion of the babblers from the general area - Kate had suggested
can't get the is 6. Clue pls.
nice..ty....
Hi Mom of 3. Are the boys happy now? It is an okay grid.
Hi Lori
good for you Mom - it bugs me not to finish something and as a result my house shows it !!!
yes, they are happy...the puppy is back..right under my feet, in fact...how many words on the grid.. thanks for asking, btw
Well, I guess I'll stick my nose in here, too, while we're on the subject. I've been playing a couple of weeks, and I'm already hooked. It took me a while to figure out the clues and the list and the code, and when I finally did, I won my first game. I was so happy, and I jumped in to tell somebody, but not one person said anything to me. So I've just been playing and watching.
is6 is plural of is5 . . . rhymes with tough nonmeat in a steak . . . or a pretty tall weed
is6 - th***** are the national flower of Scotland - drop the ist 2 letters
so you see where my priorities are lol - come from a family of neatniks too! ah well, always one black sheep
235 words
It's a fun grid, momof3. I have 57 left and must pull away for awhile... housework, you know. I'll savor the rest later. Thanks for all the clues everyone! BBL
didn't know it was the national flower of Scotland--cool!
I know what you mean. If it weren't for having a husband and a son at home my priorities would be Babble first and all other things behind that
bye, scarlet--i've gotta run too--later, everyone--happy babbling!
sorry to hear that betty....lori and green helped me with my only win...usually e1 congrats you...maybe it got lost in the chat jump
actually I'm guessing about Scotland LOL
hey there Betty, too bad no one was around to say Congratulations - so accept belatedly
thks for the is clues.
Bye Unea
Delayed Fireworks for BettyRuthe. I always try to answer and send congratulations. Sorry I wasn't here when you finished the grid
bettyruthe -- that's a shame! Sometimes people get so wrapped up in the chat, and it goes so fast, that they don't notice a name. It's happened to me lots of times -- doesn't mean anything.
bye for now une
Oh, bettyruth, I am sorry that noone decided to talk to you. I've never seen your name before. We're really nice people!
Bye Une
Thanks. It's okay. I'm not that sensitive. I'm just thrilled that I've found y'all. Unfortunately, I play toooo much!! :-)
I think you'll find most of us do betty
Hi betty - we all do !
well, join the club, betty!
betty..this is my "intervention"...lol. the people here are great...
when I'm not babbling, I often play bridge online !!
Betty, if I was on I apologise for missing it. Belated congratulations!!!!!
Speaking for myself (and probably all here) I do too
bettyruthe I use to talk also and not many would acknowledge me so no i just play and ask for a clue when needed
play way to much that is.
aaahhh shorty..i love you!!!! got your message, btw. ty
I'm stuck on the last two vi words?
Hi Shorty.
me too shorty - I find it hard to concentrate on more than one thing so I get what I can then come up for air and ask for clues
actually betty...i come here to chat more than play LOL
oh yw mom of3
Hi, my name is Lori, and I'm a Babbled addict. It has been 3 hours since my last Babble.
Well, I know everybody is different -- just like in real life. Some are nice and some aren't. I always read what people say, though.
vi - sounds like to toss something
hi mom
vi + not boy but gi**, then plural
lol lori...
Last v - where water goes around and around - a wh*** pool
or some use the word as to yuck, hate to say it - throw up
and now I babysit during the day a 3 month old and never get to play hardly
Hello again all - still need 81
back to the grid...
Glad to meet ya' Betty. Again, my apologies if i slighted you.
ah, much nicer clues folks !!
My name is Karen and I too am a babble addict. lol Lori
The clues are so much fun to decipher. It's almost as much fun as the puzzle!
i came home for a bit today but iam going to take baby back home soon
and some make one LOL
thanks Lori and Lynxxx! Whew! Fireworks!
Shorty, I was wondering where you had been. I am on odd times and thought I was just missing you.

Hi Eva

stay away mom! exes are evil! oh wait, im dating mine....haha ;)
Woops-getting awfully cold in here-have to go and fill the stove. Be right back
been there, done that
In fairness. Sometimes when I am not focusing, the chat is going so fast, it's easy to miss a query, or someone finishing.
evan..i am going away w/him this wkend..lol
indeed - hubby might say my daughter in law has one in her backyard
BUT THEN I AM DONE!!!!!
best be careful, or you may end up having move-in talks like me + my ex. ;)
I remarried an ex, but it didn't work any better the second time. I agree -- exes are evil! lol
Then mom will want to be birthing another grid.... :)
Macca - a wooden foot w. a handle
ce 6/21s?
i can't lori..no fireworks for me..not a pro :(
ty lynxxx

hey flosey..he does have his good qualities LOL
betty...what are the ages??
and good to keep in touch - so to speak
That whole sex thing provided me with 4 spawn. The liquor had nothing to dow ith it.... :)
I'm an old lady. The oldest is 39, then the next is 32, and the youngest is 27.
Flosey - not used to stretch but to maintain the shape when not in use
i am 39.....40 in april...my boys are 8, 7 and 4 in april, as well
hey, bet i'm older, my oldest is 43
lori..is THAT how i ended up with 3 kids?? i was wondering!
yes lynxxx, I remember parents using them but haven't seen them since I was a kid
Flosey, I just clicked your icon. Yep, you got me beat by some! lol
lol
oh, Mom, you're a mere babe!
gramma of a gorgeous 9 year old boy
Must be off to get ready for work - see you all later !
I'm a grandma of an almost 11-yr-old girl, the love of my life.
have a great day lynxxx
Winters are harsh here, and boring. All my babies were summer babies but 1. That was Oscar night....
yes i am !!! i don't feel a day over 25! and i wouldn't go back even if i could...
Have a great day lynx
lol lori...we stayed in for new years !! lol two oct boys...10/21 and 10/22....98 and 99!!
well, I wouldn't mind putting the brakes on Mom - too many ailments come with aging
I had to wait a long time for a girl, and I'm loving every minute of it.
I remember exactly betty
anyone else's licket list disappear? i have to re-enter all the words
i actually just joined a gym today...been going all week and joined today...i entered a "biggest loser" contest...
I had that happen once Monkey
Did babble just go down for everyone or just me?
that happened to me yesterday
hi everyone
Oh Monkey, you're kidding. That bites. :(
aaargh
i didn't lose it..i don't check the list thoug
Hi Annotherone
G'd afternoon another.
Mom, nope, didn't lose it here. (metaphorically speaking)
hey annoth
lol Lori
I always put the words in both then I know what I'm missing, but one morning when I signed in I had lost all the words from the night before
hi there momof3
I am going to go back and read what I missed.
maybe it went by way of my mind!
hi Lori
man, I'd cry if I lost everything and had to start over.
are you the same momof3boys from Playsite?
beautiful water lily Mary
ok..so back to the ex thing....who married an ex??? and was it an ex hubby that you married again, or an ex b/f...
The worst, as a non pro, is having to go back and hunt for "the missing word'. That aggivates me to no end.
no, never in playsite.
thank you flosey
well betty, I said something nasty, gritted teath, and started over
It was an ex-husband. Then he wanted to remarry a third time, and I thought about it and then decided nah!
Poor Flosey.
wow betty....my ex hubby after 7 times leaving me..and the latest being 3 yrs ago...finally admitted he made a mistake...you think???
lol, I got over it !! don't dwell on the impossible
That's terrible Flosey. I'm a pen and paper kinda' gal. I print it and write the words on my sheet.
smart girl Lori
I wouldn't have put up with somebody leaving me that many times. There's too many fish in the sea!
last ce 5/12?
ce + a bee ***ng
....... and when one walks out the door, there's another knocking to get in.
yeah, i was a fool....but my babies were little..thought i was doing the right thing...didn't dawn on me for a while that the right thing was to lock the door behind him
good clue lori
Nope, leave me once, leve me forever.
*leave
I hope you've kicked the habit for good now.
lol, and kicked in the right place
well..i learned my lesson, at least...i am walking away from the situation with bill because of the ex hubby...do i get credit for that??? lol
Absolutely!!
you have your honour Mom
I'm with you, Flosey.
Momof3, Bill will soon realize how empty and lonely all that space is that he wanted.
yeah, i do!!!! and my boys are gorgeous..go to my myspace page and see them !
mom..that is the plan!!!
Never need someone to need you. Be true to you.
after this weekend, of course. lol
good advice lori
LOL Mom :-)
And don't be "needy" period.
i don't NEED him lori....men are luxuries, not necessities!
well, once the necessity is complete
lol...hey, i have been looking forward to this concert since dec...don't want to ruin it now!!! lol
My oldest son and his girlfriend split up after about 2 years recently, and she calls me almost every day crying. I feel so bad for her, but I told her to keep her self-respect.
Concert? I don't remember a concert being mentioned. Just sex. :)
Oh Bettyruthe, it is so hard on the younger ones. You have to feel for them
mom...we are going to a george strait concert..for my 40th bday..i haven't seen him in 13 yrs..he is my favorite!
going to the mohegan sun....staying overnight...plus..it is a night away from the kiddies, so i am looking forward to it

it's not the trite "battle of good vs. evil" or "kingdom A wants to take over kingdom B" stuff. very realistic motives, etc. yes, read kathleen kerr a while ago!
hi helen, I have my head buried in the grid.
mo + king ***, the boy pharoh( cahnge the vowel)
cw, mo5.12 looks like a place to stop and re** for the night but change last letter to cross letter.
thx buba and lb
Scrabbler, that's been the best part of my semi-retirement. lots of time to read and babble.
13 to go now - just S and T words...
5 more--to halfway.
Feather, it is based on the idea of reincartnation, except one chanracter, continues to live and meets all the people who he had wronged and has a chance to right the wrongs previously prformed
bad part is not much income to pay for the reading addiction!
mixed in with wizardry, etc, etc

et6/18 est une mot Francais!
well actually i'm the amy he's out of town at work
oh, hi amy
hey what r all the #words their saying to each other?
there are a couple of links at the bottom of the page that explain the game, if you're into reading directions
well, i mean if i have to usually i figure it out pretty quick & never chat but i see ur point
Ping--extend that word to one who is a ----- Funny word.
the tile stats are arranged like the grid. for each letter it tells how many words you've gotten starting with that letter, then how many exist in the puzzle
ok betty
I need the el5/10 and es4/4 please
AHHHHH I see said the blind gurl well hey thanks cuz that certainly helps out alot
Clue please for the re 8,40.

"When a man's an empty kettle, He should be honest ******,"
well one more ? i've got 35 words & 300 points what does that mean? when are you thru?
You are through when you have all the words in the grid...in this case, there are 235 words in the grid...
Okay thanks and they are all over four letters huh? Wow i thought playingmy mom in scrabble was difficult!-lol-
The singular of mi6/21 was clued in the NYT Sunday Crossword as "high hat"
i'm back
Hello Ping...
hi again, doug
One learns all sorts of interesting things from Babbling, bubba...
what is the 11?
the 11 begins with AL
the only a I don
I don't have
al + hours, seconds, etc. + attempts
ty
ys
meaning, yw
i'm trying real hard to get this & ping i don't seem to have found the instru8ctions - where were they again? But, i see the grids at the bottom & each letter in the row has a place in the grid below w/"stats" i assume - so the first tile in the 1st row 1st column (T) says on the grid 3/12 i know it means sumpin but what. i no i sound stupid but if i understand it once i'll see the light. And thanks in advance
It means there are 12 words beginning with that t and you have 3 of them so far.
click on Angel Song's Babble Page at the bottom of this page
Thank you thank you thank you - WOO HOO iget it now
If you add up all the numbers in the tiles below, it will add up to 235, the total words for the grid.
thank you very much
as you get all the words for the letters, the tiles below will go grey. Like the z is already, because there are no words that start with the z
go amy go!
be careful--this is very addicting
very
indeed
okay so i get that there are 12 words that begin w/that of which i have 4 - but dang that means 9 more words 4 or more ltrs ea. start w/ that T?
you got it. How about the 32 words that start with that darn m!
anyone got the se 6 18 and the si 6 24 please
WOW & me w/a naturally addictive personality - I love word games & the only time i get to play is when bubba is away. Anyhow, thanks alot everybody for helping me!
se 6/18 means placid, calm
i'm sure we'll see you again, amy!
simtoe
si 6 is a funny tv series, such as friends or dharma and greg
I was thinking of titles of shows, rather than the genre...

yay!
this games is much easier when you have the clues
What comes before re8/40?

hi douglas!
Hello Dispatch!
eb, you have to use the list to be able to follow the clues - see lickety's babble clues in a link below
lickety's list breaks the puzzle down further than the tile stats - he gives you each word in the grid by the first two letters
co** on Douglas...you have common se***!
doug, see my clue of 11:12
thanks ping
eb, you can open lickety's list as a new tab so you can flip back and forth quickly

thats what i did
