hello everybody. got home from the day from hell about 45 minutes ago... to find the puppy pooped in her crate, the baby's room was 90 degrees, and my husband left food out which the cat got into. the puppy has been bathed, as her crate, the baby's room is cooling off (and she's in cooler pajamas), and the food has been dumped. can I cry now?
hello knutmeg you have a good cry:)
you certainly can cry; it would be well deserved after all of that BIG HUG
not to whine too much, but sometimes when i get home from work, it looks and feels like my husband dumped everything as it was and went straight to bed the minute i drove off.
cry away knutmeg! and morning all!
gm mva
good morning MVA:)

bye MVA.
Morning Sprite, seems my ten yr old daughter got hold of MY babble and decided to give some little 'clues' of her own - oops! I have now enlightened her on the Babble clue-giving etiquette :-)
hi kazzar!
Good Morning Ata, how are we on this fine English morning?
morning kazzar!
isnt it gorgeous! fine apart from the evil grid!
morning Jade & morning all...
Good morning/evening all. Not another evil grid?
yup *nods*
Afraid so, Haz.
It's a little unsusual, but fun though!
quite
oops sorry
Okay. I'll be brave....
how's Spangle on this lovely morning?
Spangle is very well, thanks.
awwww good
She's going through her morning routine of sorting out her paws, dashing back and forwards from the treat cupboard. Soon the cat patrol will begin.
giant still not there
a friend's dog had to be put down 2 days ago, so I'm very aware of how wonderful all dogs are at the moment! oh yes, Sorting Out The Paws. very important
Oh dear - I know what you mean, Atalante.
You weren't kidding about this grid.
my best friend and I had great fun yesterday - we took her Springer and her JRT into a paintballing area of the wood (when no paintballing was going on!) and watched them run over unexploded paint balls. Both started mainly white. Both ended up a strange mix of white, fluorescent pink, and blue.
So, baths in order after that?!
I was not! horrid grid! some nice words though
both straight under the shower, but so much fun was had by all!
It sounds it!
what am I doing up at this hour and why is the grid so annoying? Woke up at 3:15 to Merp crunching bones.
Trying to tire myself out to go back to sleep.
ewww Merp!
Good morning Eva. I hate to say it, but Merp sounds rather anti-social!
if you're a mouse, for sure
And the grid would be annoying at any time, never mind tackling it after witnessing carnage in your bedroom.
Cat patrol yielding results - frenzied barking from the garden....
gotta keep those cats in line
a cat dared enter the garden? or does the patrol encompass other people's gardens that she can see into?
There are two cats who live next door - they act as a kind of tag team. One aspect of cat patrol is keeping them out, another is scenting out where they have been the night before.
And then there's the front door watch. They stroll by the front step and wait for the reaction.
ohhh. Serious Stuff then
sounds like a fun time is had by all
Very. Behind the oil tank is especially critical. She runs into the space, then has to reverse out as there's so little room for manoeuvre!
LOL! :) silly thing!
It's very funny - she's so predictable.
they have such routines!
okay-this grid is waking me up too much-not soothing at all, so back to a book and hopefully to sleep. See you lataer
1.30am bed time night all 4 days off yeah bye
bye va!
night Eva! night diem!
Goodnight diem - and hope you get back to sleep, Eva.
bye diem
wow...look at the time!
This is incredibly slow. One word. After a while another word. Minutes go past. Another word.
sounds familiar
I know.....and I am getting sleepy
oh good Haz - I thought it was just 'cause I had people buzzling around me. This is sooo slow.
Hello everyone. How are we all?
It'll make no difference. I've had a night's sleep and I'm still picking out the occasional word here and there.
and the 8s and 9s ... *shudder*
Hello lynxxx. I have visions of babblers over the world just picking out letters very slowly and thinking 'Is it me?
nope, same here too....
Dear goodness, I've just looked at the Word Stats. That's cheered me up no end.
I have an in8&9 if anyone needs a clue
greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.....
lol - is that a yes Jade?
ty for that, lynx!
You've spurred me into finding them, in a perverse sort of way!
yes lynxxx..it was
I have the sp8
in8.45 & 9.60 - to take no decisive steps - to be full of in8.45
that sp8 is the only other 8 I have - poor me/us!
got a very big ship for a 7, thats my most impressiveword!
lynxxx...I got four words off of that....THANK YOU!
There's a smelly po7/48 - or could it be a table-tennis word?
1 /7 2/8 1/9 all start with pesky insect if thats a help
Bye for now - may be back after dinner (when its a bit qu5.16er) - happy hunting
Thanks lynxxx.
bye lynxxx.....tahnks again
gah! ty diem. should have got those
doesn't help here, diem.....can you be like the ocean??? You know...more Pacific?
start with a little bitey insect with 2 consonants
Spangle is now creeping up to forbidden quarters upstairs to greet daughter. She goes very quietly and thinks if she doesn't catch my eye, I can't see her.
Hey Ata! did you get my msn messages? Don't think so...
well if she can't see you .....
nooooo but I haven't had msn on for days!
lol, ok, thought so much! I met Julian, had fun with Sebastian, loved Kyrian and really really adore Talon
Kyrian's lovely. Talon is *beautiful*
on to V'Aiden en then Zarek, can't wait till I get to know more about Zarek, he is so fascinating
and I think Nick MUSTMUST have his own book
Z's a brat LOL. let me turn on msn before people get bored of random names!
and Ash is.... Ash is... Ash.
oh nick will, believe me ;)
ah well, let people be bored by me for once :)
going to a spa with my kids, first time for daughter
we plan on being intolerably lazy and decadent today
oh *lovely*!
ni4.4 is a legal word now?????? no wonder kids are illiterate!
Do you mean the American version of the hours of darkness?
Can anyone give me a quick clue for the only 'o' in the bottom row???
Haz, no the bastardized version of hours of darkness...
I mean the only 'O' with words for it?
i'm American and that is NOT how i learned to spell it!! :)
Well, the enable dictionary is the one that is used for babble and it accepts it, so accept the points!
Jade - I don't have anything for that yet.
oh gee... the other side of the world has li4.4 while we have ni4.4.....*shakes head*
ok, well then I'm off to bed. Have class in the morning. Music videos. My group is doing "Down On the Corner" by CCR. See you all later.
jade did you get the pesky insect starter ones?
Wait! There's the babblet, almost an American state....oh4
no I didn't diem
Morning Haz Glorious day in prospect but this grid is hideous!
hi FM!
THANK you, Haz...that helped
Hello FMitch - it's so slooooooow.
Also oc5/12 - add the result of too much sun
Morning Ata, good to see you too
there's a qu7
clue, Ata?
I thought I was doing well to find a qu6 - off to look.
you drink too fast you get the .....ups gn insect first
qu7> give drugs for a certain tropical deasese? LOL
disease too...
ty jinxie!
Oh thanks Jinxie
not the true definition, but it LOOKS right... LOL
Thanks Diem - great clue
great clue diem, got the 7, but how do I monkey out the 8 & 9 from it?
The charged particle comes into play at the end, Jade.
Thanks Haz.
now drop last letter not off but ...
hello lovely british friends (and sundry others). have woken up and can't fall back asleep, so what to do but babble?
goodness....gonna have to look those up later.
hey there hurshy.....
Good morning hurshy. We're in a moaning mood courtesy of this grid.
thanks diem...you're a gem!
moaning, eh? sounds good, i need to pass time :)
and plural
ywc
Still trying to figure out Jinxie's clue....
Jade - one of five children born at the same time consumed food
brilliant, haz!
thank you!
You're welcome!
tropical disease spread by mosquitos....if you dose with the typicate medicine you qu7.40 the patient??
never heard of the word......how neat....
or more acurately, a leaf with 5 fingers would be qu7.40
ah. interesting.
Jade> i take liberty with that first definition... it SOUNDS right, but isn't...
I saw that....lol....
Mari do you need gn8/55
Got it thanks Diem
must go to bed night
Good night diem!
nite diem. I think I'll follow him......nite all.....
thank you ALL! *poof*
Nite Diem - enjoy Whistler
Good night Jade, sleep well.
choo
Will do tks poof
add a letter on the front mari!
Bet that helped you all!!!
bless you
Thanks Atlanta
Get to bed Diem!
halfway!
now i may look at the stat panel
How to win friends and influence people....
does that mean i was bragging? i'm sorry
It means you're supposed to join in the general moaning!
oh
well you must have got half before you started moaning
i'm sure i will join you after a while more
most people started moaning 2 mins after looking at the grid ...
I started moaning at about 30 words in.
but there are so many interesting things... i like it so far... i'm sure i will rue those words later on though...
you are obviously superhuman today!
i dunno, it's 5:30 am and i'm a little headachy. i AM glad to be OUT of my icky situation though. (am at mom's)
oh good!
Glad i dont live in Ohio cuz it dont exsist
But if you change the last vowel it does, diem.
tks haz
You're welcome, diem.
hello all -- hurshy, glad you're in a better place today.
ty stid
now to get ye olde job, and find ye olde apartment...
Phantom: quagga
lol
:-) or to hoist the jolly roger and come pirating...
i don't think i really have the pirate spirit
The last quagga died in Amsterdam and I've seen the taxidermied body, so I tend to notice the word. Even when it's not there, apparrently.
phantom: gnostic (and agnostic)
what is a quagga
ah well, more loot for our crew, I suppose (but ye're always welcome)
it was like a zebra, wasn't it?
yup
Yes, sadly, and it doesn't like gnoetic or goetia. Sigh.
i do miss a q... and got a 7 from haz clue before
The quagga was a zebra-like critter that rather resembed an okapi, yes.
Gotta go get this boy down for his nap. Back soon to stare in horror at the grid while I eat my lunch.
seeing as how it's allergy season, "atchoo" ought to count!
remove t
take a letter out
thanks hurshy!
and atalante... how's the mouth today?
what's wrong with your mouth???
ok! its never hurt, remarkably! It throbs a bit still, but nothing some ibuprofen can't fix!
She had wisdom tooth extraction - don't you remember?
oh, wisdom tooth - you know i remembered the discussion but forgot why we had it
I'm still amazed how easy it was
yay
so happy to hear that! :-) so the doc is good as well as handsome *makes note to have next tooth extracted in the UK*
i wouldn't want a handsome doctor working on me with my mouth agape and blood and drool - not the most conducive to romance
yup he is! was quite happily eating normally food as soon as the anaesthetic wore off. The hole feels *weird* though!
LOL hurshy, no I suppose not.
did they give you a squirty thing to irrigate the hole? i love the squirty thing
no! now I feel deprived
go back and demand a squirty thing
yippee! I got a 7!
only 152 to go...
do we have squirty things given to us at dentists over here, Haz? or was my dentist just being mean?
I've never had a squirty thing.
nor me *sigh*
mine said "monoject" on it but that might just be the brand name
maybe you can order them online...
We're very brave over here.
Stiff upper lip - and not from the novocaine, either.
brave, schmave, the monoject is FUN. and came in handy later when i was making eclairs
LOL!
*remember to not eat chocolate eclairs from hurshy*
ca6/24 - a singular conspirator?
why is it that people have a thing where once something has been used for one purpose, even if it gets sterilized, they can't feel right using it for another purpose???
thanks for that one Haz... maybe?
that is a funny one
oh, well if you sterilized it first... LOL
lol I use anything for anything as long as it works!
If you want funny, there are two clownish type names - Miss Chanel (co4/6) and ch5/16 - beginning of a vegetable
i have miss chanel.... thinking on other...
chauliflower?
hi everybody. is anyone else missing three letters in the grid?
missing three letters, addy?
chootebega?
Now I'm starting to doubt myself - a vegetable or a herb..... Ends in Mr Cooder.
well apparently choco-late isn't a veggie!
Add a vowel to the stylish ch4/7
who is mr cooder????
okay, please tell me that's a politician or something back there?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
rye?
Someone whose name is Ry.
herby vegetably thing, I think! you have ch***** coffee
oh! that's a place in california!
I thought he was a famous musician, but obviously a minority taste.
I thought so too, Haz
yes, the picture of the grid. 3 letters are not showing. never had this happen before lol refreshed, rebooted, and still the A top left is missing, the O bottom left next to N and the A, middle right
Vindication! Thank you, Atalante.
well, 'slong as you know what they are...
just me, huh?
yes Louisiana coffee and the blue ch****** flower is beautiful
Try right click and click 'show picture'
addy i think you just need to refresh
i wish i were in france
I don't have a "show picture"
i need some fresh baked bread or croissants pronto
very pretty, Uneaixoise... and I learned just yesterday that plant and "endive" are actually the same thing!
he WAS famous!
no, uneaixoise, already did that, even rebooted firefox and then the computer. still the same. but thanks ... Guess I won't do this grid :-/
really??
addy -- right click where the image should be and it ought to pop up a dialog where you can choose to refresh or show the graphic
Thank you Uneaixoise- I was having awful moments of doubt that I had made him up.
didn't know they were the same
yup, they are
haz, if you HAD made him up, your imagination would be amazing... you could make oodles of money in movies
back in the 80s there was a movie (Crossroads?) that featured his music
apparently cooder is still going strong with an album out just this year! ... "Cooder was ranked number 8 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time"
when I right click on any of the letters I DO show, it gives me the option to "view image" but it the blank spaces where all I see is the green background, when I right click, the option to "view image" isn't there. very odd.
Have you tried refreshing using F5?
So, there you are, people - a new name learned today. You heard it here first.
that's definitely strange, addy. wish I knew what to do... I dislike missing grids!
yes, frances, did all that. even rebooted computer when nothing else worked. tis okay. have a great day all :)
lol me too, mama. i'm sure it'll be back to normal tomorrow
poo, chatlog doesn't count
sun starting to rise...
at least a couple hours before sunrise here... *sigh* I hate being unable to sleep
since i have nothing to do today i don't really mind. i wake up and there are cats being funny
Insomnia sucks. I have rather the opposite at the moment--just keep getting woken up by stuff happening. Dog needing out, toddler up early, landlady screaming in th estreet that we're all total sh*ts... you know how it is.
hmm... i don't think i do know how that is
:-) I was hoping to work outside, it's going to be a lovely day for gardening, but I have to take the van in for service. don't know if I'll have enough energy left over for anything else after that
for me it's just first night in a new place - but usually my klonopin helps me sleep great - do you take anything stid?
ewww Monkey -- makes renting sound -so- attractive! yes, that would definitely keep me up.
I'm waiting for my husband and pup to get home, then I'll go down to the beach with them. lovely!
I did take something last night, but my Tom waited until it wore off to come to bed, which woke me -- and not enough time to wake up if I retake it.
that does sound lovely atalante!
:(
if inanition is a word, why isn't anition?
or is my premise wrong, lol
The landlady thing, by the way, is ongoing and awful--but we're moving in three weeks! Yay!
Fetching my lunch, back in a min.
yippee for you Monkey -- what will the new place be like? *envisioning fields of tulips surrounding a picturesque windmill*
I found the no6 by using my no6! *proud look*
oohh tx--gives me a second word using "gg"
i may just be developing a cat sleep schedule
happy to be of service, Uneaixoise!
:-D
The tulip fields are in the boondocks, but the new place IS on the edge of a forest--Google Earth Ramplaa, Haarlem, Netherlands.Got lots of tulips just opening everywhere anyway. The windmill is downtown across from teh police station.
double g words i have: ag5, lo6x2, no6
you mean like sleeping in little bits throughout the day?
well, waking up at four and being active for a couple hours, then falling back asleep, at any rate
tx--always think of that ag as being a proper noun ...
hurshy, I just looked up that "inanition" interesting word...
thanks for the other lo6 hurshy!
yay for interesting words!
never heard that before!
not that I will ever need it... ;-) much too well fed! or maybe there is a word for being sleepy because you ate too much?
tryptophan
lol
*grin*
oh, I just found my favorite "pet", the ch 4/6
so kinda like "roadie," a follower of Paul Bunyan would be a lo6/30?! :-)
*groan* hastily putting away flannel shirt so as to avoid that one
it's early ...
that bad, huh?
50 to go, i think i'm ready to go back to sleep. i hope. ttfn.
later hursh
no, not that bad... just wasn't prepared for it! :-)
sleep well!
later hurshy! sweet dreams
I am almost up to 100 words...
ditto
go stiddy!
wouldn't you think romans would wear a toggia to the lo6?
Good morning Babble Team. Aw, Stid---can't you sleep?
LOOOL!
hey scrabbler
Are we creating new words?
no Scrabbler, your STUPID cousin waited until my sleeping wore off at 2 am to come to bed... *frowny face*
and good morning! :-)
that's sleeping "pill" *sigh* the body is awake but the mind is less so.
your hubby is her cousin?
yep. which makes us cousins too! really cool, we "bumped" into each other right here
Well, I woke up at 5:50 AM and gave up trying to go back to sleep, so I fed the bunnies, checked e-mail and here I am.
too funny!
so I never did learn why gandalf apparently doesn't like carrots?
So, let me guess, Tom is sound asleep, right?
yep. sleeping like a baby.
woo-hoo for me, just got the sp8/65!
my insane dog woke me up at 4:00 seemingly frantic to go outside and when we got there ... just sniffing grass ...aaarrrggghhh
hate it when men do that! wake you up then sleeeeeep
The bunnies each have their own personalities and preferences. I typed wrong the other day, as i was working on my German with Inge. Tucker is the one that does not like carrots, or endive. Gandalf is not fond of greens, but likes carrots. They all love bananas, although I have told them that bunnies do not eat bananas in the wild, silly wabbits!
rofl... oh man, that is only too familiar Uneaixoise. We live in deer/bear/raccoon/possum territory!
LOL!
my dog will eat *anything* except bananas
*grin* I see, picky eaters! when we had the rabbits they LOVED fresh-picked raspberry leaves. I wish they hadn't gotten sick and died. :-(
Can anyone clue things to do with the upper right I?
Did the raspberry leaves kill them?
Monkey: "the broad, upper portion of either hipbone"
IL4/4
Oh, duh! Thank you!
and adj il5
TY--i = 2/3
Yup, got them both from the clue. Should have seen it myself.
I mean2/2
no, it was december and we had a bad storm (we kept them outside most of the year) and I didn't realize their feed had gotten contaminated with something. I felt so awful about it - they were rescued from the same folks as our little dog
:(
I just saw the gerund endING here again---lots of words with it?
how can there possibly be nine more C words?
I have only found two with that ending so far scrabbler...
I do not see a lot of ing words. Not sure I've entered any at all, for that matter. Is it just me?
scrabbler 5 for me so far (halfway)
9 more, stid? i've only GOT 9 ! LOL
I just reached halfway also! *and they're neck and neck at the halfway pole, only 100 more meters to go... looks like Uneaixoise is pulling ahead, stidmama is lagging behind. But wait! who's this coming up on the inside rail?...*
LOL!!!!
It's Scrabbler, but she is 50 laps behind!
:-D
one more "ing" word .>>
Yeah, well, you folks watch out for me... I got a real head start and now am wandering aimlessly and riderless around the track generally getting in the way.
FIVE "ing" words? are you SURE? LOL
6!
*sigh* my monkeys are on strike apparently.
Poor MonkeyGames.
I've got10 :P
have they had their coffee??
I found the sneeze sound--it was accepted. :)
Ata!
Oh, I'll live. I just wish I was burning through this at a furious pace instead of pecking along brokenly, because either way I really have to stop soon and get back on the packing.
COFFEE!!!! *decides to make real coffee in the morning*
Are you going away?
so what is the new place going to be like, monkey?
We are moving about a mile to a nice place, with no psycho landlady.
cool!
Good choice. Psychos need to be avoided, but I work with 2.
99 bottles of babble in the grid, 99 bottles of babble...
The new place is a hair smaller than here but has one more room, so my husband can have an office again and smoke indoors, and it is in MUCH better shape. We looked at tiny run down places in the middles of industrial terrains, etc., and it's just coincidence that this place turned up. It is directly above a butcher too, a real plus!
I have 162 to go
75 words of randomness sitting in the grid, 75 words of randomness ...
not sure what it says about me but i keep seeing erotica in the grid
Randomness, disuse, archaic-ness, oddness...and some probably completely made up
I think sometimes better "flow" and storage in a house trumps space...
Yeah, our landlady has some REAL issues, I believe is the polite way to say it. She's been trying fro a year to throw us out illegally, and she has broken windows and thrown our bikes in teh canal and her husband atatcked me while I was holding little Walter. Now her ex is suing her for the house and we aren't allowed to pay the rent to anyone at all, so she's flipped out again. Three more weeks, three more weeks...
with no R in the grid, that does say something, I think
well I keep trying "neigh" and it just won't take!
Wow, MG, that IS real psycho! Have the police been informed?
There is one word that is slang for "but of course"; everyone got that?
good grief, monkey!!!
the na5?
Monkey, I hope the next few weeks will pass quickly and uneventfully...
Yes, we have scrupulously filed reports with the police and we have a great relationship here with our, what's the English, well, teh cop who deals exclusively with this neighborhood. Real nice lady.
ooh! thanks for that one!
Yeah, the na5.
G'd morning Babblers!
At the moment the landlady is being pretty quiet because the cop has rather strong-armed her into leaving us alone. But I have it on good authority that as soon as we're out she'll be filing for damages and sayingw e trashed the place, so obviously the day BEFORE we give the keys back we will be taking pictures and sending them to the neighborhood cop, and ideally have her in for a look around.
hey Lori!
Good morning Lori. Be afraid, be very afraid.
Yeah, nasty grid.
Uh Oh. Haz has given me the Defcon 3 alert. Not good......
you'll be praying for re's soon ...
it's not _that_ bad, is it? I am at 107 listless and sleepless...
I only have three q's
I thought forewarned is forearmed.
***ponders the merits of being a Babble quitter***
you aren't a quitter if you haven't started yet...
5 here
Yikes Atlante! It must be bad.
Oops, hit return toos oon. Can anyone help me with the q's that are not silence, stop, or more so?
Atalante, have you got your 9's?
I have 4 Q...
2 of the 3
There are 7 qu's
There are Spanish farms to be found...
qu + what a rash makes you do
I stepped away--hello Lori & Hazel
Akkk, replaced all my Spanish with Dutch! Rash? Working on all these...
***Dons helmet, grabs sword of invincibility, and dives in***
another one for the record books, Une!
qu7 - arranged in groups of five.
go Lori go!
Oh, the rash one sounds a bit like the Harry Potter game, right?
Hello Scrabbler.
Groups of five. Working.
oohh, tx haz
Hey Scrabbler, delayed g'd morning to ya'.
that was a qu7, yes? thanks!
Spanish farms? hmmmm
Yes, qu7/40 is the groups of five.
I need 1 more Q--I have qu4 x 2, qu 5 x 2, qu6 and qu7
we both need another q6
Is it the Spanish farm one?
Scrabbler: omelet?
as in, real men don't eat qu6
qu6s - flan things or short form of Harry Potter broomstick game
Not getting the groups of 5. Just dense today.
I only just found it...
doh!!
qu7 - one of five children born at once consumed food.
good one haz!
One of the names someone has suggested for featherbeee's baby is there - female version (not Percival)
TY Stid--that was the one
ig7/36 that is
Wow, that is a word, Hazel--how did you know?
I want halogen! I want it! I want it! I want it!
Haz Knows
wow haz thanks for that one...
You may have it, Lori, now please sit down so we can move ahead with today's lesson
I've resorted to 'other resources'. My vocabulary doesn't stretch to this grid!
OK, got that q. Still stuck on the Spanish farms one...
is the spanish farms a 9?
ha8/55 and ha9/72
gracias, Haz! like a the big house on the ranchero!
ooohhh
Si. (My Spanish is rusty, but I do remember that!)
Oh, thought it was supposed to be a q word! THIS wqord I know!
oh! yay! ty :)
I found the cockney pronunciation for the letter H...
yep
There's another version of the lo6/30, open porch - just change the usual vowel at the end.
Help on the Spanish word, please.
I still need qu 6/33, the one that is not like the Harry Potter game.
apparently my cat requires cuddling. I'd better go and cuddle her. back later!
I suppose I'd better try.....
Scrabbler: ha + s***ce (biology, physics, etc) + russian "yes"; then plural
"goeth" is not a word, as in, this grid maketh me goeth insane
But no need!
Been tried. Sad, eh?
TY, Stid.
and that should be four * in the middle of that clue, btw...
later atalante!
I just enter a lot of nonsense when I have no idea what I'm doing. So far this has produced a few words. Sigh.
Later Atlaante
My stratgey as well, MG, LOL
Now that it is light outside, I see more snow falling. We are going to have a white Easter.
There's a t4 that looks like the first half of a particle that travels simultaneously backeard and forward through time. One of my favorite subatomic units, but I had no idea the first 4 letters was a word on its own.
I have yet to choose a favorite subatomic particle. I am 47--am I old enough to do that?
thanks for that one, Monkey!
oh Scrabbler, that's awful! it was warm enough tonight that I decided to leave the plants outside (I am getting ready to reintroduce the geraniums to the garden...)
Well, I'm 38 and have narrowed it down to a few. Gotta love them strange quarks, but the Higg's Bozon is a clear winner at the moment...
I don't know Scrabbler, you may need a few more years under you belt before you can be sure.
I just love any word that I can recognize today.
i put plants out last week and have brought everything back in!
We're having a bizarrely nice day here. Lemme just go check the Haarlem weather page and I'll tell you how unseasonably warm it is here. The park out the window looks great even if the daffodils ARE starting tofade...
I am reading about subatomic particles on Google--fascinating. How do I decide which one to be attracted to, MG?
I like gluons... they sound "craft-y"
How about Tau antineutrino?
Well, the one mentioned earlier can travel back and forth in time, so that's cool, but then there are ones that we haven't even found yet, like gluons that theoretically explain gravity, so THERE'S something, but then there's the one the word for which escaopes me: if you turn this one around three times you get to the orignal face. That's all the way around, ad three times. I mean, what the $£"!!!? is with that???
that sounds cool, too. *off to look up what it does*
Coffee refill anyone? Stid---another sleeping pill?
We toured a particle accellerator a few years ago. I highly recommend that.
I'll take everything you got please Scrabbler! ***holds out coffee cup, and hand, for pills*** :)
LOL no, I need to be awake by 7 ... I can't afford to sleep now. :-(
80 to go . . . BBL
later Uneaixoise!
LAter Une
(81 here, and holding)
Aw, Stid--you are going to stay awake?
They teleported a proton recently. Looks like there's a chance the Future may happen after all.
didn't one of the big european particle accelerators have a break-down this week? something about one of the magnets shattered.
Oh yeah, and they can slow down light now. I mean WAY down.
Lori--here's the coffee, a bit strong today. Perhaps Callie Bunny put an extra scoop in the coffee maker.
Akkk, toddlers make one get behind on the news. I'll be looking that up for a few minutes. Back soon.
I think I have to, Scrabbler -- it's going to make my whole day really hard but I if I go to sleep now I'll be too groggy to drive the car to the shop
afternoon all...monkey..i looked up your fav subatomic particle..thanks for the word..
You WILL nap later, I hope.
G'd morning rolin
Hi Rolin
Okay - taking a break, 45 to go but they'll have to wait for later. Bye!
hi and bye haz
Bye Hazel
LOL Scrabbler, I can always be persuaded to nap....
Later Haz!
cant see this ig word
It was the "Large Hadron Collider" in Switzerland, Monkey
bye haz, thanks for the help
i'm Alice alleyns grandaughter and am stuck on the 9's, any help?
Yup, I see it. Fermilab. Those magnets are even bigger than the ones I looked at ! Wow!
I am not a napper, although I wish I could take short power naps. I must be lacking in some subatomic particles that teleport me to REM sleep.
i have the in9 and ha..what am i missing?
Bye, HAz!
Hi Alice!
in9??
yup
i don't know any
*chat log goes silent as everyone tries for the IN9*
lol..do you have my missing onme stid?
ingatchoo
plural of the state of being a couch potato -in9
Well, it's not "inggeiaii", that much is certain.
no rolin, sorry -- and listless so far...
but definitely worth a try monkey
thanks Eva! :-)
Good MOrning All

stidmama, you are on early!
morning peri
yw
Hi Eva and Peri
hi peri -- yes, insomnia
hi scrabbler
Darn it, not getting clues today. dense as a, well, as something really dense.
Monkey, the movie director says, Lights! Camera! AC6!
Delayed g'd morning peri and Eva
then stick IN before the AC6 for an 8, then plural
I got in8, 9 and the ac6 and 7 from your clue, Eva
the in's are related (the 8 and ) and use the word stidmama just clued...
in8&9 in + GI Joe is an ****** figure
The ac's made my head hurt.
Sheesh, thank you!!!!
well clued, lynxxx! good day to you!
lynxx..i have the in9 and ha9...whats the other pls?
Hi Stid
well longfellow is not appreciated by the grid, "gitchie" doesn't work
Greetings to Down Under, lynxxx
Hi Rolin - you've got one more than me!
What about goomie, as in Gitchie Goomie
Hi Scrabbler
oooh..ok..im feelin' good..lol
no double O where we need it for that...
Everybody got th einsect covering ones?
I think I have reached the quota of "normal" words.
tetch isn't a word? C'mon now, everyone knows I'm tetched in the head....
lynxxx, the HA 8 is the big house on a ranchero in Mexico or spain, plural for 9
Yes, we know, Lori
i agree lori
oopps with the word..not your statement..lol

why thankyou Stid !
well this grid is certainly making me "tetchy"!
:)

I am reviewing my word list and seeing many words that have never been uttered by my lips
clue for the last 9 please
and probably many that shouldn't, eh scrabbler?
dunno what it is peri
I don't think any of us have that last 9 peri...
You've never sais oh4, Scrabbler?
Well, I shouldn't say any words that I don't know the definition of
okay will look for it, may I will find it myself
Monkey - insect covering ones. what is this?
There's a 4 letter wored for a salmon...
sponge
tone
got those
putting words in the chat already! going to the penalty box right now
TY Peri, I like direct clues!
thanks for that one Monkey... now only 5 C words and 71 assorted other gems to go!
Guten Morgen, Babblers. What on earth is stid doing up at this time of day?
and trying to type messages in the word box, maybe I should go back to bed
TY MG, for co4 and oh4.
stid's Tom came to bed at two... stid couldn't get back to sleep
Guten morgen, Inge!
Hi inge want to join me in the penatly box
I see there's supposed to be a gn 9. Is that intimidating or what?
I'll go looking for the gn 9. If I'm not back in 5 minutes, send out a search party.
gn 9? for real?
And Scrabbler buddy is here too. I feel like I am late for a party
I hardly know ANY gn words
*shudder*
thanks for that onkey-yes it's real and not that hard
That's what Lickety's says...
I couldn't sleep either, Inge, so I was here early
well inge, let's break out the cake and icecream and pour some more coffee then... we'll blow the roof off this place!
gn9????..omg
Eva--clue please, then? Seems it isn't from gnostic rots so I am floundering.
or for some reason I found it...think of the beginning of fish and other animals that are progn.........having jutting jaws, I think.
Eva does it build off the nasty biting insect?
too cold, without a roof we woudl all freeze our typing fingers off
yes stid-that's how it starts
I found gn8--prefix refers to the jaw
I found the gn8 and gn9 by using more words, never would have found it myself. hard words to clue
and it has the long ending of the other 9's
thanks *looking*
th ein9, that is
Okay 9's done, any clues for the 9*'s I don't have
I found gn 8 and gn9 in the Scrabble Dictionary, my bestest friend
for the 8's I don't have :)
gn = a pest + 8th letter + l*** is king of the jungle, then plural
natch
WOO-HOO!!!! *dancing around ecstatically* I GOT IT!!!!
The town snowplow is passing by--very encouraging sound for Apr 6
we had 10 inches yesterday.
nice bio find, Scrabbler! THere's a gn7 from that word too
um, peri? *holds out cup of triple-strong coffee*
cliffopa, in NH,mentioned 11 in yest
thanks inge
Cool! So now I am missing a SECOND gn8!
hey inge2!
dare i say there is beautiful bright sunshine and long sleeve t-shirtt weather here
only if you duck quickly rolin
hi, stidmama, long time no see :)
TY Lori
Both gn words have the same prefix. One ends in charged particle, one ends in resident word
thanks stid, I already have coffee, my mouse has a mind of its own :)
good morning all
peri, how does the gn 9 end? There is no s that adjoins
morning wolvie
wolvie! :)
we're going to be warm on the West coast today rolin, yesterday it hit over 20 outside, which would be considered really nice for July!
Or ending for stalagm*** and stalact***
hey wolvie!
ing it ends in charged particles
Hi Wolvie
G'd morning Wolvie. I hope you brought your thinking cap....
Hi Wolvie
plot
Resident word? Oh, wait, I see. Thanks.
whoa, scrabbler, I know have 2 8s, a 7 and a 9 from that gn word!!
TY, Peri--you are being qu5 generous this AM
7/44; 8/55; 9/72; & 8/55; all start with the gn 4/6
I have all the gn's now, so that HAS to be enough; too much to do! Off I go to pack!
116 left, by the way. Helluva grid.
later Monkey!
Bye MG
Bye!
hey - thanks for the good clues to sign on by, guys.
by monkey
finally got those gn's, thanks team
Hi BR!
gnath
Later Monkey
Let's go Babble Team!
that would be the prefix, inge ;)
Hello, Scrabbler
This grid is like a toothache.
lori - what thinking cap? ;-)
Then we need root canals
Grids like this are a love/hate thing for me.
but, lori, no REs!!
well, I am getting to the point of needing the list. back later...
No re's, is a good thing. :)
this grid is a ho 4/5
And we are increasing our word power!
right inge2 - that has to mean something. ;-)
bye stid
Later stid
right, scrabbler: "the lowest point on the anterior margin of the lower jaw in the midsaggital plane."
I have to get ready for tennis. 111 left to find later this afternoon. Good luck everyone!
I think this grid is an sn4/4ty one
bye scrabbler
Later Scrabbler
Of course, Inge2, I knew that, lol
lori - it gives one an 6/24
bye Scrabbler - enjoy
You prolly use it weekly in your line of work, scrab
hey, tx for that an clue, Wolvie
No, but I see lots of sn4 everyday, Inge2
yw
***Looking for an 6/24***

Oops! I meant Inge. Sorry.

hi feather
g'd morning feather
hi lynxx
HI feather and lynxxx
Hi Feather
anyone know how to play offline? or if it's possible?
brb
Hello Wolvie
I guess you could print out Lickety's list feather, but other than that I don't think it's possible
ok. i figured! i'm going on a car trip today, making plans.
I believe you can have a chip implanted in your skull
got my map pages saved offline, wondered if i could do the same here. i'm going to try with lickety.
or I could have just made that up
let us know if it works feather
LOL Esprit !!
ti 5/6 combo, let by***es be by***es......
LOL Esprit
You can save the web page off line, but I believe it uses server-side Java to run, so it won't actually do anything offline
that's what I was afraid off inge
TY Lori - I always look for that animal - and tonite I don't and it's there!
or you could just sing the whole alphabet in the "A my name is Alice" style for the whole trip
just trying to help here
lickety's works offline!!!!!
Lol, Jean
ooh - VERY good to know feather - ty
i just went up to file, clicked save page as, put it on my desktop, and voila!
that's cool feather!
just feeding the addiction here!
can you actually enter words at the top and it will enter them?
yep!
I must be burned out, I glanced at chat, thought feather typed vodka, and perked right up... :)
lol lor
LOL
lori*
lol, lori, we love you :D
the first step is admitting you have a problem Lori
feath. how about someone you trust getting a list of all the words, and they give youclues when you're stuck?
:)
dang, that'd be nice fox!
awesome find, feather, I just tried it too and it works here too.
i'll be at a hotel in the evening to enter what i have and get clues for what's left though
hey feather why aren't you at school? another sick day?
inge, i saved the babble page too, just so i know how many from each box
hi again all
WB stid
wb stid
nope, good friday, start of vacay!
yes, good idea, feather.
the 8't letter of the alphabet is in the grid
okay - I just tried it and it worked here too. Cool
you're here very early stid!
I know you're heading out for the weekend... wow. nice that your district does that!
*8th*
hi stid
I've been here since about 2 am my time - -5 your time?
7:51
stid, why so early?
Good afternoon, everyone!!!!!
ohh, i see! insomnia?
down to 69 words, just grabbed the list after reading the news...
stupid husband, yes!
G'd morning movie
hey movieman!
hi mm
Hi MM
hey movie
Movieman have you seen Namesake?
I never thought da 7 would be a word.
oh i read that book..it as great
Something rather spooky happened to me this week......I was babbling a couple of days ago and I noticed the word "uncle" was in the grid, then yesterday I noticed the word "girl" was in the grid, not very significant you may think, until I tell you that my sister has just had a baby girl.......
I saw the movie last week, it was wonderful
ok, gotta get packing!
hey - very cool mm, not spooky. ;-)
bye feather
later feather!
Wolvie, just found thought that too. dumb word!
movie, you didn't know that this grid was also a ouija board?
Congrats, MM
Have a good trip feather
Hi all - congratulation "uncle movieman"
oh movieman, that is so cool! congrats on becoming an uncle!
little known fact
ty everyone!!!!!!!!
G'd morning ursh
hi ursh
hey ursh
wolvie, how about cluing that da7?
This is a slow grid - been on and off all day and still have 64 left
well da**, E Jean, I never would have thought of it. :-)
I did not know you could plural th 4/5. Stick 7th letter in, after the vowel, and you get the th 5/6 combo
make it the action of that da 4
yeah, you're right..........that's goofy
ty
I have seen th** word before lori - don't remember where tho
yw
po7 gets the same treatment
cluez for the 8s and 9s plz
from po4/7
yeah, but at least with the po - I can see the little ball flying. ;-)
sp8/65 think of Bob Square Pants
Have I mentioned that I'm still hatin gthis grid?
lots of those endings today
yes lori.;-0
but Lori, the grid is always here for YOU, have you thought about that?
Morning Babblers
hi nono
I don't want to think of bob square pants
G'd morning Nono
lol babble - me either
have you seen that commercial with Bob No Pants?
it's pretty funny
Goodnite everyone. My other half can wait for the morning. Have fun!
bye lynxx
Sleep tight lynx

that is the game jc28
yes, we are all prodigies...
that's the rules Jc... if you don't like them, maybe you should play somewhere else...
kiddo, you can learn just like we did, "monkey" it. open lickety's list, see that there are words that start with the two letters and have X letters total, then just try all kinds of combos
not a lot of kids in the game jc but it is a game that helps expand your knowledge of words - and some pretty wierd words at that
are you in the UK? ...you could try the BBC website... they have games for younger players...
at least you can spell, that gives you an advantage over other kids...
bbl
not that you have to be in the Uk to do that...
me and my friends do this
you'll get better after time
185 down... bleh
off for breakfast and errands, bbl
take care, flosey
Bye flosey.
schadenfreude... I know this must be bad when instantfame hasn't finished yet... ;)
you and your friends do what?
hehe
any po8?
its going to take me about 90 minutes if im lucky
bye flosey
we do babble
yep
clue?
(or clues if 2)
we like babble alot
po 8 is the one that allegedly represents the body po 7
i am SO STUPID i tried that with an a before, ah what a dolt
think White House aides... Downing Street advisers... etc...
i only have one po5, this seems odd to me...
maybe you like it in class, but it's not the same when you're playing on your own...
I like it are you saying that i should not play
This is an odd grid, hurshy, just one po5.
5 po 4; 1 po 5; 2 po 6; 3 po 7; 1 po 8
I have 15 words all on my own Iam smart
we are happy for you to play if you like, jc, we are just telling you that we aren't going to just randomly tell you words, and that you should only play if you can enjoy it under those conditions
Can anyone help me with the ni 7 - I'm just not seeing it
ah, i need another 7
no... but if you're going to play, it's no use just asking people to give you words... the whole point of the game is to look for them, or use the clues in the chat log...
maybe the chatterbox should be limited to pro players?
anike - n, then what looks like a poorly spelt adjective for what a rash makes you.
ok
don't say that sam
we've run the idea of 2 chatterboxes by doc before, i think...
Fireworks!
that wouldn't be much fun for the non trolls
Sam, there's no problem with non-Pro players bar the occasional difficult few.
congrats Angelsong
congrats angel
congrats, Angelsong
Congratulations Angelsong.
it would defeat the handle-switchers and eliminate the troll traffic
yeah the 2 chatterbox idea was more for like - people who don't want to see easy clues vs people who do or whatever
TY Haz - I now have Fireworks and can go to bed. I tried to get through without asking for clues but I failed
but it would also defeat the poor college students
are all you guys grown ups?
congrats anike
Well done anike - sleep the sleep of the content!
yeah, but then people wouldn't be able to see how nice we pro players are :)
yay anike!
I'm back :)
maybe non-pros could read but not post?
yes Jc, we're all grown ups... but younger people do play too...
hello atalante
hey ata :) :)
Hello Atalante!
no, we like a lot of our non-pros
Hi all.......a clue please for ha9?
and there are a lot of times when pros are irksome
finally finished... only 80 minutes heh
po 7 -- the poker ante goes in the po* and the last 3 of the raw fish word
it's really not a good dividing line
I don't think we should have restrictions on who can post, or what they can post...
i don't know...seems a bit elitist to me...
Hello Flask! I had been worried about you when you didn't show up for ages. Glad you're okay.
it's about knowing who's who, is all, so the same trolls can't keep coming back
hey flask
congrats, instantfame
Hi Haz!.......am well thanks.....just having some quiet time!
TY all. I was disappointed earlier today when I lost my broadband connection 20 minutes B4 flip and had to miss my last 10 words. Had to redeem myself tonite
hi Flask :)
I will not do the chat box I will leave it for the pros!!
doc blocks trolls IP addresses not their handles, anyway
hi all - jc most of us are grownups. I also think that anyone should be able to post provided it doesn't get too rude or confrontational
ha9 is a plural Spanish word relating to farmhouses etc.
i don't know...the occaisional troll is kind of ammusing
brabs - confused - that only seems to be 6 letters and "shi" isn't even there...
unless you're a goat
ohh i figured it out
on to S's
as I always say, I like the trolls!
G'nite all
i have 2 sa, 2 sn, 3 so, 4 sp...
Goodnight anike.
nite anike :)
no i have 3 sa
I have a word to give poetic
jc, we do not want people to say the words in the chat
sorry I was discombobulated again
Haz......have you forgotten about me [not] understanding clues too well?????.....lol
3 sa; 2 sn; 3 so; 6 sp
bad move jc28
sp's it is then
I wanted to give you a chance of a lightbulb moment! You want a breakdown of the word?
sorry I was just trying to help ypou guys
Jc - please don't post words in the chat log
(The troll points are mounting, slowly, just like the words in the grid)
why
yes please!!!
i am sorry
because we LIKE to FIND the words OURSELVES
because it makes the game uninteresting
my sp's are all normal so far, any weird ones?
I have one that gave me 27 points sponge
been looking for it for a while actually!
sp 8/45
greetings babblers, nice grid
8/45, eh? have 8/65...
jc, we just told you not to post the words
hiya knight
we are going to have to email doc and get you blocked if you don't knock it off
Okay, ha, four letters relating to film rearranged (first four letters of where you go to see films), then shortened version of father
to plunder and pillage
fine i was just trying to help
hello everyone :)
i am in the fourth grade
yes but we told you we don't WANT that sort of help
And plural for ha9. Flask -- not an easy one to clue, I'll try to find a better breakdown if that doesn't work for you.
hi nan :)
How old are you
STOPHaz.......
I have it....thanks!
Good!
hurshy how old are you
hi everybody
Troll points still mounting.....
i am as old as the hills and as young as a flower
hiya nan
Jc - you're getting on my nerves...
fine you are not my dad so you can not tell me what to do
maybe ignoring the troll is a good idea?
but we can get you blocked, haha
you want to bet?
what dose that mean hershy just tell me your age
she's 49
i'm 103
Hi all. Taking a short break from gardening to do a bit more of the grid. Lovely weather here!
But looks much older.
are you guys calling me a troll
yes, we are
hi Jacs :)
Hello Jacula!
that hurts
you're becoming more like a troll :(
you are not listening to what we ask you (nicely) to do and not do, and you are being generally rude.
I am not that short
if the cap fits ...
sorry
Oh yes, Jc - shall we call the good dr?
sp 8 -- add to strip of leaves: def******
but really i am not that short
well, who's volunteering
JC -- if you are going to play in a game with adults, then you should act with more maturity if you want to be accepted. Did no one ever teach you that it is rude to ask a lady her age? or don't you care about being rude?
ah thanks brabble all i could think before was despoil
i promis to do what you say
sp 7 -- take a letter from the 8/65
back and not getting the clue for the sp8/45
yrs people told me that
aha, thanks brabs!
now i'm just down to C and T
i am from the south southetn maners are a inforce
peri - rearrange slightly the letters of 'to destroy or taint' then add the consumed food ending.
peri to get rid of dead skin cells you exf****** - rhymes with that
took me forever to find the sp 8 --- have a look at the ending in the bottom left corner
thanks Haz, got it
thanks hursh, got it
Hmm. Think I'll come back later. *picks up pruners and heads back to garden*
That's good, peri.
still need two more 8's
i can not belive you guys called me a troll
See you later, Jacula.
You're doing what I should be Jacula
jc28. get over it. play the game. the main purpose of babble is to find the words and to assist, in a nice way, othes
sorry
gn? -- have the 7-8-9 combo -- the other 8?
nan the other gn8 ends like what is inside a pencil
g'morning folks
7 ca; 9 ch; 4 ci; 10 co
Good morning Takuma.
morning Takuma Sato :)
ok i need 2 ca and 3 ch then
ty peri
Haz can u clue me sp8/45 please?
no french dog OR kitten
found two ch's!
I'd have thought that if you could be uncooth, you should at least have the option to be cooth
sp8/45 - use the letters of a word meaning to destroy, wreck or taint (as in food) but switch round the order of the last two letters. Then add the consumed food ending.
uncouth
eek
or kittens!
that's embarassing. thanks hursh
sp8/45 = wiping something up
np
don't feel bad tak, i was trying the same thing
2 ca6 or more?
thanks Haz!
You're welcome, Flask.
3
and are there also two ca7 perchance?
yes
ok then i need a combo i guess
93 left, bbl
i have the positively charged particle combo
but give me a sec to look before you clue
Bye peri.
ciao peri
ca 6 --- add landlord/****nt law; plural
sorry
no that's good
wouldn't have thought of that right away anyway
bye for now peri
so on the last ch - 2 6's and a 7, or more of either? or an 8 even?
ch 8/50
aha

No matter how many times I key in Cheops, the great pyramid builder won't take... LOL
now i need 3 t7's. i have the huge ship and a to gerund.
Hi I just tried to email Babbler at her new address and it bounced. Has anyone else had this trouble?
i should try harder before asking clues though
11 t's i can find SOMETHING
kssi1515 at googlemail dot com?
te 7/32
There's another t7 that's almost (except for one vowel) exactly like my icon.
haven't emailed her in a while but it worked when i last did
two to 7's with the same ending
ty brabs and haz
I assume it relates to lockjaw.
odd puzzle for me -- I have had 3 typing mistakes accepted
ty cnan

If only I could progress on my dissertation that way, too
one to has gerund/participle
other to add a critter to the telephone dial ****

because my brother is missing
If the cap fits......
and i hit enter before i could add "where art thou"
thks BR - I always forget that garlic sauce
i do not know what that means
would someone please give a clue why I should know Lionel and nicole?
lionel actually doesn't spell it with a "t"...
sp8? It's the only 8 I'm missing. Have a feeling it's an easy one but it's evading me.
ty takuma
I thought it was accompanied by an eye-roll at the thought of Lionel and Nicole ;)
good clue, though
lionel sang "loooooooooove - i'll be a foooooool for youuuu..." endless love
Lionel is a well known singer. Nicole is..... how do you describe someone with no talent who is famous for that quality?
ty angela but have no idea who you are talking aobut
and nicole is on again off again friends with paris hilton, had or has a show with her
cating
cnan: the word also rhymes with the feeling you have when you need to scratch
nan hasn't heard of Paris Hilton...
he sang with the commodores in the 70s if you want to google it
Haz, it's the Paris Hilton syndrome... famous for being famous... talent has nothing to do with it
ty takuma
sorry-no good anywat lol
lionel - singer / nicole - extremely thin
I know, Scarlet - it's ghastly.
don't pay any attention to the rags, so that's probably my problem!
don't worry, cnan: you're better off being unaware of these people
holy moly
whoopsie
ooh... that wiped Jc off the page...
did everyone else see that?
YAY TAKUMA!!!!!
an echo a big one lol
don't pay much attention to today's exuse for music either (beginning to sound like an old fogie, aren't I? -- lol)
Ah, hello, Takuma Sato! :-)
I think Babble would rather we didn't put her email in the log without "modifying" it to keep the spammers away!
Yes indeed, Takuma.
*excuse
what a shame sherb
sp8 please?
sp 8 -- add, to strip the leaves from: def******
Lionel has been around since the 70s
That was kinda cute, Takuma. Did your enter key get stuck?
I *really* apologize. my 'return' key stuck, but it took me an unfortunate amount of time to realize that was the problem
lol
lol takuma
thanks much. :-)
more my kids' taste in music, then
let me see, is there a ti 6/18?
ah yes, red hair
is there another?
yes, last ti
Hey cybernan, I'm going to a wedding in your area in August
i have ti6 hair myself :)
i read earlier that there were some gns anyone got any clues
think I'll bow out of chat -- a possibly stuck key is relatively harmless in the "add word" box ;)
That is the last ti, though (red hair)
well i need another ti6, i have one other which is a pl
hmmmm...dangit isn't a word? I say it all the time!
i either need ti6/18 and th6/30 or both worth 6/24

Great is the adjective, greater is the comparative, greatest is the superlative.

just read your profile, abe --- what are you researching for your thesis?
i'm researching the effects of legislation on at-risk English language learners/ possible solutions (I'm getting my masters in education)
at-risk?
at-risk for dropping out/ academic failure
not a happy topic- i'm finding a lot of the reading to be "heavy"
hi everyone.. back to tackle the grid, 70 left to find
Hi Aloy :)
is this ESL? -- what kind of legislation?
or all English speaking students?
th5/16?
Yes- I'm going to be an ESL teacher. I'm researching mainly students who are not native English speakers. The main legistlation is No Child Left Behind Act, but I'm also looking at the situation as a whole, in the past 30 or so years
Isn't that Act designed to provide extra assistance for those in need?
has it not been positive?
wb Aloy!
cybernan- yes it is. but a lot of students fall through the cracks, esp. with all the standardized testing, and I want to see why. it has been positive in many ways, but i guess there is always room for improvement
th 5/16- like an object, change the vowel and rearrange the last two letters
sounds interesting -- good luck with it!
thanks! although i have to say, this grid today is qu*** the distraction!
ty sprite, hellow Abe.. I'm struggling with this grid - bet I'll learn some new words today
yes, it is not a really easy grid today, not for me anyway
Aloy- there are many new words today
well, thanks you two... i don't feel so dumb now.. back to the hunt!
aloy --- there were so many new words today I couldn't keep track -- mind you there are a lot that I am unlikely ever to use!
and tx for the affirmation, cybernan
my monkey demands overtime for this one
fireworks at last :)
Congrats to Sprite!
I'm off to make lunch, then a little gardening -- back at the flip :)
wahoo, BRAVO Sprite!!!

Have a great day, Cybernan

lo 6/30- sounds like 80's singer of "Footloose" or "Dangerzone", but drop the s and change last letter to a vowel
must be off, have a great day/night/ whatever all of you and happy hunting :)
last one, ti6/18, last one
See you later, Sprite
bye, sprite.. see you next time

thanks bubba-san
well, it is still today's grid, inge.. and finishing this bear of a grid deserves a BRAVO.. (-:
does anyone have the lo8
gn 9, evanadine
ew. any hints for that?
periwinklesan, i found out that the meaning is a compound derived from the material which makes up insect exoskeletons, i.e., chitin
lo 8 is a gerund, lo 5/14 extended
lo8= lopp of short+ vowel+ gerund
really Aloy, I like my definition much better 8-)
brb.. yes, peri... i definitely prefer your definition, lol... food is helping.. need some more.
thanks inge and bubba
so, how is ca++ a word, but not ca+ing?
several gn words strt the same> The gn** insenct, and ends in atomic particle
mariogld, do you still need the ig7
thanks!
that
bubba , are you in the legal or medical profession?
brb getting something to eat
orthopedic surgeon
aaah!
I have the ig7 and need the te7
te 7 is like the ti7, the sunk ship
ok..gotta go take a nap before going out tonight. good luck e1
ig7 please
te 7 reminds me of that shot you are supposed to get every 10 years, if you have stepped on arusty nail
phantom word: giganti
gigantic*
ig 7: female version of name suggested for Featherbees fon; it si the first name (Latin) of some Catholic order founder
ig 7 First name of Loyola
tyvm, inge.. needed that ta, great clue
have many phantoms today, catch and caging for sure
but did Bubba get it?
Hi folks.
Scrabb, off work?
just got it, thought it was Loyola's first name, but slightly different, thanks forthe clue
hi there, Scabbler!! Did you get more of the "s" word up there?
no it is a female version, God help the child taht is named that
HI Scrabbler
HI Scrabbler
I rarely work on Fridays--tennis, lunch with a friend typically. I just returned from Good Friday Mass.
well, inge, they could call her iggy
Yes, we got more snow, and more is falling right now.
good grief!
Bubba, you are an orthopod?
send some precip down here, Scrabbler.. our drought continues
Isnt that great Scrabbler? We can now virtually fix all ailments
We are going to have a White Easter.
Better to find the hidden eggs
Yes, we are an interesting crew.
orthopedics started as a branch of medicine to straighten children's limbs, crippled by polio.. ergo, ortho = straight and ped.. as in pediatrics, for children. Straight children.
Much to the happiness of the religious right :)
Well, daily I see kids that need straightening.
thanks bubba I finally got the te7/36 with your clue
wow, Aloysius
straightening out in the non physical sense, scrabbler?
ic 5/14 any clues?
marigold, check your name please
I know sorry
ic + *** tac toe
tz inge
Yes, Al. The majoirty of kids I encounter are overindulged, demanding, whiny, and in charge of the household.
hey Scrabbler, they need Super Nanny
or send them into a war zone!
peri, i got some pretzelsans
They sure do--to insert spines into their parents.
LOL Aloy
lol scrabbler
I only know a couple like that scrab
anyone have a hint for the go5 &6
katydid how you doing
Oh, the stories I could tell would fill a large book.
I bet they would Scrabs why don't you write one
go 5 is part of the male anatomy
we have them too, inge
clue for the et7 please
oh man. you know I tried the short version of that but didn't even think to go there
Females have go6 also--called ovaries
Wait, Al, you are female??!!
Scrab, where you here this morning, when Lori tried discretion in clueing that go word?
et7 is a pesticide
I am laughing all over again
No, I must have left before that...please tell me what she said
yuppers, Scrabbler.. read my profile.. have no idea why i have no pink purse or flag for that matter.. sniff
wait...i have a blue , purse?
she clued it with "brains", which made no sense to me at all, so I asked and got the REAL clue,
lol, that is hilarious inge...
searching for that pesticide
Is the gender listing new, or did I miss it, assuming you were a male? This changes everything, Al---I thought you were a guy!!
thanks ras but that clue is not helping me
which Lori referred to as discretion, the men in the chat howled, and Wolvie claimed tht there is no discretion in babbleland
well, Scrabbler.. hope you will still talk to me!
et7 is plural of et6/21
I used to think you were a male, but you cleared taht up some months ago
ras, which E does it come off?
if I had the et6 I would have the et7 :)
Yes, Al, but I need to create a new image of this person in Fla.....like when, for 7 mo, I thought my bunny, Calvin, was male, then when his "brains" didn't "drop down", I had to re-name her Callie, and think of her differently
I only see one E in the grid jbp
Scrabbler, now that is FUNNY
there is only 1 e
is it me or is it a little surreal on here today
is it me or is it a little surreal on here today
i meant which eT
Well, it doesn't make sense to call you "Al" anymore---? Loy?
must be you, Monkey..(-:
Our cat once had kittens. We named the all white one Vernon because we thought she was a male. Turned out her real name was Vanilla.
bottom T
must be, Aloy :)
Al is super fine, or aloy, like in the grid yesterday..(-:
When they are little, their parts are microscopic
My daily life seems surreal, MM
is that our new secret word, Scrab? Brains? I wished I had asled what brains had to do with go 5 and 6
*asked
found the et6 and et7 thanks ras
apparently (given my dating history) not much, Inge
well inge, because men generally think with them instead of the brain in their head
I hate to interrupt, but I need the ch 8, please?
That is where males' major cognitive activities occur!
clue for the et6 please?
oooh,, touche, scrabbler!
ch + he, she, ** + vowel + I am loosing my ***ity
peri has the best clue for ch8, can not top "japanese snack", no way
ET6 Same as the ET5/14 - last letter + i3
and anyone have either of the "i' words from the very top right corner?
Have you ever seen the hilarious diagrams of male and female brains? Men have a switch--it's either on or off. Women have this vast control panel with 200 functions.
good thing you werent here anymore this morning
thanks Aloy :-)
ty
yes, Scrabb.. i remember seeing that
I've seen it Scrabbler
I might have to review the chat to see what went on this morning. I feel like I missed some good ac6
clue for the po7/40 plese
Hi Minski
Hi peri. how goes it?
Monkey - il4.4 - i + person who tells untruth - drop the r...then add 3rd letter for the 5
il 4: il + 2 vowels (abone I think )
things are fine here, how about with you Minski?
Dont have po7/40. have 7/36.
me don't have it either
il 5?12: add c to other il word
po7 = mix the vessel plants grow in with that ni5 word that rhymes with what you scratch
po7.40 po*s & pans + the end of the egg dish that real men don't eat
po7/40 - cooking vessel + misspelling of what you scratch + vowel
Thanks Inge. I needed those 2 i words as well.

Knutmeg - a type of oil

casa is another spanish word for the same term.

The roadrunner must have done it.

Hi Atalante, I sent you another e-mail
i wonder if it saw the giant anvil coming
qu7 - add past tense of to eat to the q4 before

Yes, I would love one, Mom---mushrooms and Swiss cheese, please.

TY, Loy. I am rather comatose after a short and lousy night of sleep
Hi Mom !

Scrabbler, I am in duhsville today
Does anyone have the gn9 please?
Me too--woke very early and gave up going back to sleep, and when I checked in here, Stid was in the same predicament
Whew, were there fish down there?
Minski, I have it. Let me see how to clue it. If you happen to have the gn 8/88 you can plural it
GN9 - PL of gn8, pesky bug + letter + charged particle
jbp - gn8.55 gn** (biting insect) + greeting ** + opp of off....plural for the 9
Me too Scrabbler, I was on at 1:30 a.m.
Thank you Lynxxx, I couldn't think how to clue it
thanks lynxx and vic!
Surprise, Inge has a new icon
you guys rock
There are 4 words beginning with a 5 ltr gn prefix meaning the jaw/chin
Wow, Inge--and you are supposed to have Babble on the screen
What a nice icon, Inge.
Thanks for the gn. I have all the 9s now and must leave to do some housework while child is still asleep. TTFN. BBL8R.

whew, glad it wasn't a word. Moves cursor back to other box
you all are so kind, thank you.
(puts cream puff back)
Just keep the cream puff--you already took a big bite out of it
lol, how did you know?
well I need to get back to the dusting. Have family coming Sunday for supper
Because that it what I would have done, or, if it was a bite-size cream puff, I would have stuffed several into my mouth
Bye bye for now.

Bye Mom - have a lovely day with them
Let's see, Mom: dusting vs Babble? Hmm, isn't the decision obvious

exf____ makes your skin lovely and smooth
hmmm. glad I never tried exf______!!!! don't need my skin lovely and smooth!
its good for verybody - helps revitalise the skin - ladies and men alike
if one is hirsute like yours truly, then exf_____ would be torture
have a hubby with beard - he still does his nose and forehead - helps to stop him peeling when he gets a tan
they don't use wax knight... you'd be ok! try a pedicure and let them exf____ your feet... it's awesome!
no way - in my case it would be a collosal waste of money
that's only if the cost is collosal... it's not!

how about the et 6&7?

It is a slice of the tip of my thumb, just smaller than a dime, and about 80% around the circle shaped cut
thnxs for the gloomy news about the tees - my least favorite letter in the grid
thanks hurshy!
is it just me or is it way better to be in the red spot on wheel of fortune
I am working on the LO's--a long list

Go for it, hursh. We can have a team of us from here get you prepared
I cut my index finger last summer about as bad as what you did (sounds like) but it was closer to the first knuckle. I have no feeling in the tip of that finger and it needed 4 stiches
I don't think you need to be prepared for that show
i dunno how to get on though, went on the website and didn't find a link to tell you how to get on

Alex is SO annoying and arrogant
alex would go postal and start shooting the contestants on wheel
hey Alex, the only reason you know the answer is because some lackey wrote on a card for you
once pat was talking about what it takes to be a game show host, and saying basically anyone can do it. he said something like, what qualifications do i have? and then he said, "sure i'm glib, but so is my uncle chester"
Hooray = FIREWORKS - I am off see some of you tomorrow

hursh: that photo of the cat doesn't look real.
i took it with a disposable camera so it isn't very good
it almost looks like an x-ray or like the developer intentionally overexposed it
just poor camera and poor photographer :)
i disagree. it's a cool effect.
but she is grey and white striped so i guess inherently somewhat xray like
oh, i see, a compliment! well thanks, lol
this is mitten, btw.
te7--I suppose it is a ridiculous gerund again

ty hurshy, took me a minute but i got it
the wireless connection here keeps dropping....ugh
argh
as soon as i turn off the firewall, the connection comes back.
otherwise, i'm only here for a little bit. anyone have any advice?
keep the firewall off?
i'm nervous about that...won't i have problems then?
i accidentally stepped on mitten's tail, i'm worried. i hope it didn't break
oh no!
is he/she ok?
she seemed in pain at first
but maybe she's ok
aww
animals seem to have high pain tolerance though
i spose they don't set tails anyway
it was only slippers, not like in heels...
she's probably fine, just playing it up for sympathy. my cats do that.
i mean, i'm sure it hurt, but i bet she's ok
she mewed when i touched it after
:(
grrr
it dropped again, with the firewall off
how long ago was it?
ah, so sorry feather :(
oh, five minutes
she seems ok now... i think...
faster to bring it back though, without the firewall
try touching it again at 9:00 and see if she reacts.
yeah.
where is everybody???? is it just us here?
If her tail doesn't seem straight, you may have hurt it. If it's broken, it would be crooked.
i'm here! :-)
ahh, other voices emerge!
i felt it gingerly, it didn't FEEL broken
i mean, marty's is permanently broken - he has a crook from a break that happened in the womb
so i sort of know what tail breaks are like
she can still wave it
you know, if it was broken, and you felt that area, she'd have really hollered or even swiped at you i would think
she's VERY well behaved...
wouldn't you be grumpy if your tail got broken? ....figuratively....
i think she's avoiding me :(
aww
guilt trip on mommy!
yes but animals try to hide their pain, on account of predators, instinct
hi autumn and une btw :)
check again at 9, if she'll let you find her
we're all in our room together, easy to find her :)
i didn't get many words in earlier, still have 129 left
she is normally somewhat grumpy this time of night anyway bc food comes at 10 and she's getting anxious for it to arrive
hey hursh--BTW I got an A+ on the status of the wrist at the orthopod's today! Really weird seeing the X-ray with the 3 big screws just sticking up like that!
woohoo une! i can imagine that would be surreal
bahh. o

Hello Babblers
It almost made me physically sick and I kept asking myself why do I do this ???
Hi smd!
*runs like a mad woman to hide from smd*
i walked away for a while, but the compulsion to come back and finish was overwhelming
to confess, 'splotchy' is my favorite kitten out of the bunch. my hubby says i need to stop playing favorites.
Hi Nut and Dawg!!
te7/32 anybody please?
Nut runs like mad woman!! Nut is mad woman!!
i'm looking for a better name than 'splotchy' by the way - care to help me name her? (has to be disney-related)
i played favorites cliff, and it got me a proud, fat, supremely aloof cat, whilst the hubsters cat is all affectionate. I still like mine best.
nawh, she's just crazy!
i'm both for hanging out with you lot.
Erda, it's like the boat that sank but with the te instead
did you get that list i sent you in the email cliff? i saved it.
te7/32 is like "king of the world" ship
Nutty, i think it happened way before us! lol
please help stuck on in6 word thanks

oohhh, i'm several miles from the airport--jeez, with all this wind it'll go wild
erda, act of making a bow or knot
yep cliff, i think i'm gonna vote for baron itzy bitzy, i did a big online search to find the obscure disney names.
Big apartment complex burning. I think news said already burned about 100 homes
cliffopa, still need a name for the kitty? what about aurora...
who was baron itzy bitzy?

YAY Erda!
baron itzy bitzy is the flea scrooge bought

ty lbd, stid
Where is this fire you guys are talking about?
ok, channel 5 says "about 40 trucks and 140 firefighters were on the scene" and 40 apts were destroyed . . .
:-) princess aurora was my favorite disney princess!
hmph! welp, i think one of them should be baron itzy bitzy, specially since the baron is a flea, and it's a cat, etc.
i know you, i've walked with you once upon a dream
I know it's a fish, but the AI 5/10 please?

Hello HK
hey does anyone know what it is you add to the water so hard boiled eggs don't crack?
salt, I think HK
thanks peri - how sure are you?
little sure
why don't you check on the internete
da dee dum dum da de dum dum . .DOO DAH DOO DAH . ..
tx - that's my next plan
hey there torgone
Hi HK....I have a little egg hole puncher that works for me!!
it's actually vinegar, HK
hey torgone!
re eggs start with cold eggs and cool water and up the running water until it is hot before you start to boil. Then boil for 12 minutes after they start to boil. Always worked for me
is it, see I wasn't really sure
Oh, and I don't use anything else
Heyas kids ...
i thought it was vinegar, the other 1/2 thinks it's salt
16 left all T words
Mary's approach keeps the yolks fropm forming a green ring around the outside.
Right, and have no problem with them cracking.
a hole puncher?
hi kris
Don't boil too long . . .
i don't see how that's diffferent from just starting off with the eggs in a pot of cold water & letting the stove take it from there
I always have the problem of getting them to peel
hey, not to change subject, but how about the sneeze word in todays grid.
Yep HK made specially for boiling eggs. Makes the shell peel off better.
Belt sander peels them nicely ..
lol
Hi torgone!
lol
Used belt sander once! Took off the shell all the way to the yolk!!
Heya lbd!
Hammer works too . .
i get the impression that you aren't into hard boiled eggs Tor
As a teen I once under-boiled some eggs. My father took one to work, cracked it on his boss' desk...good thing they were friends.
lol
Hi, all. I'm sorry if this has been clued a great deal, but I just came in to finish. Is this a very hard grid, or am I getting a touch too old to think? Does anyone have a clue for the last gn8/55? Thank you.
I love hard boiled eggs .. I'm just not great at making them properly . ..
I just monkeyed it. Thanks.
scarlet same first 5 letters as the others ends with slang spelling for late evening
Thanks, Ib. I found it out of desperation. :-(
What happened to the marshmallow Easter Eggs you used to buy individually wrapped. I have not seen them in years!!

Go Peri, go Peri, go Peri!!!!!
the act of making a bow or knot peri
lol working real hard on the grid eh Tor?
thanks lb
I boil my eggs in a 2-piece pasta pot. Cold eggs, cold water, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp vinegar for every 4 eggs. Bring to boil on high and boil for 12 minutes. Take inner liner from pot and immediately run cold water over until eggs are cold to touch. put in fridge right away to finish cooling. No problems with the green ring or peeling
Yup . . .
Yup . . .
Got to tell my little Princess a nite time story!! Have fun everyone and Happy Babbling!!
Gotta go bye . .
okay - so it's salt AND vinegar then???
vinegar helps the color adhere better
i just don't want them to crack
*sneak sneak* {{{{{{{TORGONE}}}}}}} did you go on vacation and forget to tell us?
I don't know why I do it that way, it's just the way I was taught.
noooo, torgone went away? piffle.
See ya later, Tor
HK do you have an egg-pricker
LO 8 anyone?
stid - any advice here on this topic - how to get hard boiled eggs not to crack?
egg pricker
zyliss makes them
jbp - uh, nope
they guarantee no cracked eggs every time!
I know it sounds like I'm making it up, but honest.
stid do you have the lo7/44, if so, drop in a vowel after the first g
I just set mine to boil.
qu7/40
ok - i'll do salt & vinegar, bbs
well, some eggs have hairline cracks before you even start so if they do there's nothing you can do to keep 'em whole. Otherwise, start with water and eggs at same temp, bring to boil, plunge into cold water immediately is what my mother does
thanks peri!
make sure your water is not warmer than your eggs. also don't crowd them in the pot. they shouldn't crack then
ti5/12 pleaes
got it!
stid, are you almost done with the grid
how about the NE 5?
peri, biblical 1 10th
stid - do you have the 5/14 before it?
sorry, i was just updating my myspace, this grid is far beyond me
ne+ opp. of bottom
no peri, not really trying. been working on it since about 5 am your time and down to 22 now... just dabbling in between other tasks this eve.
THANKS! got it!
sorry stid, was still on your lo clue,,,
thanks jbp
tichc
Never boil eggs. It makes them rubbery. Use older eggs. Fresh ones won't peel properly. To keep eggs from cracking while cooking, pierce large end with a needle, which will also make them easier to peel.
thanks autumn moon!
how's about the NI 7?
stid, rhymes with last name of Paris Hilton's friend Nicole re+++++
Does anyone have a clue for the ot6/21, please?
stid, n+ what skeeters make you.

I must retire now. This is the hardest grid I've done since I began Babble last October! The words were stumpers, and I get boggled by the easy ones. LOL
Good night, Babble friend. Sweet dreams.
