Good morning Atalante - Spangle is here, I had changed my icon to show Scarlet some of my plantings from a year ago.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner and a bottle of wine, they retire for the night, and go to sleep.
She's currently attending to the paws. Serious business.
Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. “Watson, look up at the sky and tell me what you see.â€
“I see millions and millions of stars, Holmes†replies Watson.
“And what do you deduce from that?â€
Watson ponders for a minute. “Well,
The tent has blown away?
Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets.
Astrologically, I observe that Saturn is in Leo.
Horologically, I deduce that the time is approximately a quarter past three.
Meteorologically, I suspect that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow.
Theologically, I can see that God is all powerful, and that we are a small and insignificant part of the universe.
But what does it tell you, Holmes?â€
Holmes is silent for a moment.
“Watson, you idiot!†he says. “Someone has stolen our tent!â€
oh. Paws. yes, very very serious!

His friend says: “Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You truly are a kind man.â€
lick, lick, look, *nibble*!
The man then replies: “Yeah, well we were married 35 years.â€
Oh good grief....!!
sorry - the ? are " - I found a bug in Babble Expert!
lol very loudly lickerty.
OMG LOL
no way bug - i thought it was perfect!
de 6/24 = dishonesty
Two guys are sitting on a bar stool. One starts to insult the other one. He screams, “I slept with your mother!†The bar gets quiet as everyone listens to see what the other weasel will do. The first again yells, “I SLEPT WITH YOUR MOTHER!â€
The other says, “Go home dad you’re drunk.â€
dunker very much jellen
A doctor says to his patient, “I have bad news and worse newsâ€. “Oh dear, what's the bad news?†asks the patient. The doctor replies, “You only have 24 hours to live.†“That's terribleâ€, said the patient. “How can the news possibly be worse?†The doctor replies, “I've been trying to contact you since yesterday.â€
oh look - it's not the Babble Expert - same thing in normal chat entry. Hhahahhaha - Babble doesn't like jokes ;-)
laughing uncontrollably
The doctor one is new to me - very good.
yes it does but how do you say LOL more
Could you expand upon your measurement clue?
ok, up to the dreaded re's
Texan: “Where are you from?†Harvard grad: “I come from a place where we do not end our sentences with prepositions.†Texan: “Okay – where are you from, jackass?â€
and also expand on the dishonesty clue perhaps?
jellen de+ca4/5
de6/24 - another word for dishonesty, especially when trying to pull the wool over someone's eyes.
An Alsatian went to a telegram office, took out a blank form and wrote, “Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof.†The clerk examined the paper and politely told the dog: “There are only nine words here. You could send another ‘Woof’ for the same price.†“But,†the dog replied, “that would make no sense at all.â€

Haz, are those beautiful bloom, last years creation? A pre-cursor to this years pink themed blossomings?
They were two years ago, in fact, though last years were the same colour scheme. I have high hopes of the pink scheme this year, they're growing nicely.
Grat, will look forward to seeing pics.
Will do, providing small boys with footballs and slugs with evil intent keep their distance.
LOL
LOL
Been Babbling for almost 2 years, you think I would know by now that acer is NOT a word!!
I had to laugh at the little boys next door - one declared 'I'm AC Milan' the other immediately replied 'I'm Liverpool then. Or maybe Brazil.' The power of imagination!
I know, but it's maddening every time, FMitch, every body and his wife knows the word so why doesn't enable?
clue pls ei?
ei4/5 - on its way to being a downy duck.
ooh thanks Haz
qu7/40 (last) clue, please?
You're welcome.
not getting anywhere haz
do you mean questions Jellen?
qu7/40 -it looks like one who would pose a question.
or the one who asks them, and plural for the 8
rmc - the downy duck's feathers go to make a kind of comforter/quilt, the word ends in down. Take the last letter off the type of duck.
ty Haz
You're welcome.
*sigh* thanx haz, as usual using the wrong e. well, that's it for me!!and all before HRH gets home.
Congratulations!
goodbye, rmcc and congrats!!

no one is about the tummy when pg - LOL
TY
When I was young and naive, I thought that morning sickness was just an old wives' tale and a ruse to get sympathy. Boy, did I learn!
ahh - I had tried that earlier - obviously misspelled - nails need cutting !!

hi lynxx! :)) thanks!
It's a lovely grid today, lynxx, I agree.
yes there's actually word words!
BBS need a coffee I think coz I keep seeing Elvis in the grid
I don't like it! But I'm half asleep and the rest of my brain is deeply involved in knotworking mooses
So THAT'S where he got to.
You'll like it when you waken up.
hmmmmm
Doing babble isn't easy when you're at your we8/60.
the v's are giving me abit of grief, might come back to them
and moosiest
True.
Hobbit goes back to the vet today for her check-over. Hopefully she'll be given a full bill of health and can go back to off-lead walking :)
Oh, she'll be pleased about that, and you too, of course.
*so* pleased. my back will be celebrating
hope all goes well ata.
it'll be nice to take her for a walk again, rather than her taking me for a walk
So, speaking of dog-walking, I'd better get ready for Spangle's walk. She's pretty good walking on the lead, except when she is within sight of home when she puts on a spurt. The worst thing is if she sees husband's car in the driveway. He's her hero!
So, I'll away and will check in later. Bye for now!
awwwww! Hobbit's normally fine too, except when she Hasn't Had A Proper Walk For 2 Weeks ...
bye haz! have fun!
bye haz enjoy the walk.
wow. definitely a babbler. those ts words seem normal now LOL
i'm working the beloved c's :\
argh. *cr5*
just started cr's
I wish I could work that logically
I protest. Versace is *definitely* a word
nope a name :)
still a *word* :P
but at least its there!
yup :) thats actually rather cheering to see! Maybe we'll have Armani tomorrow
I just got a Brand of knitting wool (I think) si6.21 - but its that high ranking Indian person again
hmmm don't remember him
phew way ahead of me
si6.21 Si* Cliff Richards + a ***k horse
oh! is that what that is? TY. I'll try and remember that now
first cr5.12 is lynx's town cr*** lighting the lamps
second cr5.12 is just plain she cr*** a lot :)
sure wish i could clue!!!
cr*** at the large amount of Cs :)
thats the one :)
as far as the ci7 and 8 goes.....
ci7 and 8? eeep!
ummmmm
cr7 and 8?
ooops meant cr
ci? is that possible?
elongations from a cr6
cant clue cant type either
cr7=more crumpled
wow same as the de's - thanks ishult
if you can have a cr7/32, why can't you have a decr7/32?
perhaps because the cr is not the same meaning when it is with the de
lol yeah ... I'm just having a pointless moan at enable :P
don't know what you are talking about - I tried it a few times too before I convinced myself of my argument!
Morning Babblers
Hi Nono
but its still not ours to reason WHY!! lol
hi nono!
helo nono :)
i have about 30 minutes to babble for now
and lynx it was a good argument :)
you'll get heaps done Nono
gonna tackle the v's now....
hope so lynxxx rest of the day more or less planned out
and cry about the Vs
speaking of v's we have vi4/7 why not follow it with versa
wrong vowel
yeah i have that one
I'm obviously missing something really obvious with these Vs. can't see 'em
verse
argh, sorry! not played for ages and obviously typing in the wrong box!
ata i only have 6 of them
only 7 so far
now 8...
there is 3 short v's that are to do with trying hard or the st6.27 word
and I only have 5 !..... morning everyone !
I have 9 *scowls at Vs*
Hi Karys
morning karys
hello karys :)
hi karys :)
just had most of my hair cut off, can you see it from there, does it look ok ?
just gorgeous Karys
looks very nice karys!
gorgeous!
oohh...thank you everyone, feel better now !
grrrrr... I have tried those qu words 5 times!! and they don't enter!! darn evil keyboard
took me ages to realise I was trying to spell one of the q words quite wrongly !
I swear I have tried the word that many times, but I don't get it until the 2000th attempt!
did the same thing with the fi4... typed it 3 times and then it accepted it!! I must be doing something wrong... perhaps hitting the quote key
I have found it's much easier when you hit the right key mrp !!!....how goes it today ?
bloody painful !! getting rsi from all this mistyping! LOL
LOL....not lost you sense of humour I see, good for you x
MRP how did you go today - any definite plans?
no way lynxx... the surgeons are hard to pin down! I had to call the surgeon's wife to get him ... will find out soon, but it looks like it might take a few ops now... yay me
so I am in no hurry to get to hospital... will be spending enough time there intermitently
how can I have 84 left!! I only have the from the E's to A's left!
is diecast two words? must be ...
the qu's are done! those were hard
popping off now with 100 to go !
so are the v's!
but last four are all related
Make the most of it MRP - I'm sure Lickety (esp) and the kids will
I have qu5 and 6 odd and plural and qu6,7,8 question word, last two?
question words go 7,8,7,7. there is qu8 - more nauseous
back tomorrow... tennis!!! bye all :))
first qu8/55 a sick feeling
watching not playing I hope!
bye MRP
ok got the sick, ty, not seeing that other question related 7
bye bye MrP have a great day/evening
its the strangest of all Jean
The last qu7, looks like one who might pose the question.
one who questions
french open tennis on TV!! bye :)) *poof*
have that one and plural
have a good walk?
have teh questions plural
then another word for someone who questions
Yes, thanks Atalante, it's really sultry today.
The qu7/40 I clued for ends in the last letters of the hand and arm connector.
where do you walk? do you have woods / fields / beaches / otehrs?
ah, ty didn't know that was a word
Well, we're in a town, but there are fields nearby. Mind you, one of my favourite walks is through the local cemetery. You can let your imagination run riot with all the names and the sad stories.
cemeteries are such wonderful places to let history seep through you. all the names and places ...
I know - one of the graves is of a young woman who died aged 29 - whose gentle character and kindly sympathy endeared her to all who knew her.'
its funny, I always assumed you were in deepest, darkest countryside. no idea why!
No, it was originally a market town, still very much a shopping town but we are surrounded by countryside and on the gateway to the glens of Antrim.
good morning
afternoon/ evening
Good morning carlee.
morning carlee
how is everyone today?
TGIF!
aits
yikes sorry
I'm well, but shouldn't be here, of course, since I promised myself I would get on with some housework.
I am rearrangeing my bedroom today..to take better advantage of cool breezes through the window...
Hi Carlee
morning carlee
but I have one child not set to get up for another 15 mins...so will wait until off to school to finish
Hi to everyone, hope all are well
I really want to see the Giant's Causeway *random Northern Ireland fact*
Good morning Zen - warm again today.
Hi Zenmed
The Giants Causeway is weird, there's no two ways about it. It seems to be top of the list for visitors.
hello carlee and zenmed :)
What is the Giant's Causeway and where is it?
and bichon :)
Mornin' all
http://www.giantscausewayofficialguide .com/home.htm
The Giants Causeway is on the north coast of Antrim, basically basalt columns of hexagonal rock. Legend says it was created for the giants to cross from Ireland to Scotland. I'll find a picture.
Morning all. bichon - see for yourself at...http://www.northantrim.com/giants causeway.htm
Its at the top of Northern Ireland, and its an area where the rocks have formed into a whole "stairway" of hexagonal basalt bits
Hi Haz & lynxxx, weird but wonderful to be talking with 2 people from opposite sides of the globe at the same time...
(Hope that link didn't expand the chatlog!)
hello jacula :) clue for vi5.16 (second one)??
I've made the link smaller. Here it is: http://tinyurl.com/ecf7d
its great isn't it Zenmed. I just love the way I can get world news first on here rather than any other media
2nd vi5/15 - same as 1st but with a consonant at the end.
what a fascinating place, Jacula (and yay for tinyurl!)
Sure is beautiful. Do you live near there?
Okay, I've changed icons to illustrate Giants Causeway. I live about 15 or 20 miles from it.
want to go to Armagh also because of the Deidre mythology
anyone know where i can print out a world map to show where everyone is??
wow. wonderful pic
granny - the frappr site has that.
My mother's ancestors came from Co Armagh, but I don't know it terribly well. Armagh city is lovely, it has a cricket green right in the middle.
Haz, you are very luck to have such great places to walk on a day-to-day basis
morning all
ok will try, thanks jacula
we could make a babble map for Frappr
granny - http://www.frappr.com/babble
Inge - there already is one. See link below.
have all the q's but the first one, can someone clue me for the fist qu 8 please
aha... it exists!
We're as guilty as anybody of taking the beauty of our country for granted. I came originally from near Carrickfergus where there is a 12th century castle. It was only later that I realised that it is quite something - we were so used to it that we hardly noticed it.
that /babble was what i missed
I have the questions word, the one who questions & plural; is there a 4th question word?
first QU 8 PLEASE
qu8/55 - is what the nauseous person feels when there's something to make them feel worse.
we've been really trying this year to explore Kent. there is *so* much here of beauty
The last qu7 - looks like another word for one who poses questions. It uses the last four letters of the hand and arm connector.
Haz, I don't get the clue
how about vi5.16 (second one) ?
Buttonman - think of another word for feeling slightly sick (beginning with qu, then make it more so. Or qu, plus a word meaning simpler or less difficult.
v + angers
vi5/16 - the second one is an anagram of the first.
Wow, that's a grey q block now; ty Haz
You're welcome Zen.
Off I toddle again, babbling doth not a clean or tidy house make. Bye for now!
bye haz
'Bye, Haz.
anyone have all the vi"s I am stuck on one of the vi5/16's
bye haz :)
bye Haz
how many vi5/16s are there?
3 of them
I must be missing the same one, nanette
do you have the bird (just found it)?
ihave the contenders and the one that sounds the same
bird?? no will try to find it
got it thanks!
vi, then go left
was not seeing that o!
yay!
second vi5.16 is what i need is that the bird inge
gotta run now may be back for a bit after breakfast
v + anger (3 letters) + vowel of surprise
wow finally!! thanks inge :)
yw, granny

sorry to hear/see that carlee ((hugs))
the story is just so heartbreaking! please give your hubby our deepest sympathy and to their family our prayers
I'm confused, whats happened?
i knew his first wife... and the kids...
I share mrp's thoughts too!
there was a murder suicide here... ( my husband does not know the people involved sorry for confusion ) involving a retired PO and a woman who was rising star in a local force...
Oh, that is awful, so sorry
my next door neighbour growing up..who was like 2nd dad..and his kids my siblings ( i am only child ) was best friends and partners with him while on the P force
Carlee, my condolences
and as I was always around I grew up knowing dave... not well...cus I wasa kid..but I remember him always around
ahhhh. ok. so, I'm looking at the articles, are they suspecting that she shot him??? 's what it looks like
its just horrible that it is being splashed everwhere in our news here...no escaping the horror
no idea.. she was just promoted..he was divorced or going through divorce ( I lost track after moving out of town..but am still in touch with the best friend... )
ahhh. well, it sucks the whole way round. Sorry it was someone you knew
ca5,18 please
she was a "rising star" in the london force...and he was an icon ... really an amazing officer so meticulous and always involved in the worst investigations..the irony was she worked in childabuse and rape and spousal abuse areas of crimes
So Lickety any idea when the next Babble Experts coming out?
goldies - sorry you're a few releases behind
goldie - ca*** a turkey
(only joking)
what does that mean?
I gotta find some time - TIME is my enemy
time is your friend lickety, especially with your darling growing son
if only I could pause it for a while - I'd get everything done!
see ya everyone - gotta run
I'll second that motion lickety...
all in favour of pausing time say aye.

bye lickety
Amen to that MrP
( 17 years? )
goldie i gave you a clue for ca5.18 scroll down
ya i know still trying to figure it out
ca5 - slice the meat
oh much further than that :o)
who is 17?? I wish I was 17 again, just not with all the angst!
( instead of 15 years..17 )

my cutest one is at sleepover tonight, my cutsie one is playing xbox with his dad... I am enjoying babble and tennis!
ahh geezbus why is being a parent so dang hard? Just emailed my daughters school about holding her back and I feel AWFUL.
what?? why you feel awful kc?? did they suggest it or you decide on it?
no, they won't hold them back. Just keep pushing them forward, but she's supposed to go into 5th grade and her reading level is only at a 3.2 grade level, her projected skills for next year only bring her to 4.5 and she didn't get very good grades.
hi, Mom, lived in cinci 1975/77 (grad school UC CCM) - back in Cleveland, somehow 4 hours on I-71 seems a bit much ;)
dunno. I know this is whats right, but I just feel awful for having to do it. Guess I feel like I failed her somewhere
hi, kc, has your kid had a multi-factored eval? don't assume you've failed her.
Good Morning from the US - how many words today?
morning Jayde 195 words
i aske because i have a boy with learning disabilities - getting special ed has actually pushed up to near grade level - the teachers are so devoted.
Thanks so much!:)
No, shes's been in special ed for 1.5 years because of her reading issues. The real issue is that she fought learning it and has been falling further and further behind because her skills aren't moving as fast as she is grade wise
is she on social par with her peers kc?

depends on who you talk to mr P. at home all her friends are younger. It's just the whole stigma thing of repeating a grade.
hmmm, yes, I can see your problem ... my friend had to repeat her daughter in year 5, same reasons you have. She is doing very well now in year 6! has more confidence too
yeah. Thats my hope. I KNOW this will be best for her, but I still feel bad over it all. *sigh* no one ever said being a parent was easy.

Hello, redshoes
Babble, I'm just passing through and thought I'd say hello. I haven't been on much at the same time as you recently. Are you keeping okay?
Hello, Haz. I am working at it. Thanks for asking.
That's good to hear.
I'm guessing you classify this grid as being a real stroll in the park?
It has its challenges like all grids do. I am enjoying it.
"While strollling in the park one day/In the mery erry month of May/ I was taken by surprise by a pair of roguish eyes. . .
That's for you two, Haz and Babblerabble
I enjoyed it as well, lots of sequences and a few nuggets to mine.
Thanks, hetty
two pairs ofroguish eyes in fact
Hello hetty - now who owns the roguish eyes, I wonder?
Ah, that makes it clear!
You do, of coursse. My dad used to sing that song--". . .a smile is all she gave to me (whistle) I immediately raised my hat, and finally she remarked/ Oh I never shall forget that afternoon in May when I met her by the fountain in the park!"
I've just googled it, hetty, to remind myself. There used to be a programme on British Television called 'The Good Old Days' when they tried to recreate the variety theatre of old. That was one of the songs sung.
h all again
ce8 clue please
The programme came from a theatre in Leeds, the audience dressed up in Victorian costume, we had Leonard Sachs as compere, and all manner of singers, jugglers, illusionists etc. It would probably be laughed off the screen now, but I used to enjoy it as a child.
Pabtrek there is a cr8/45 - add a vowel to the preceding cr7/32 to give a comparative ending.
My dad, like other members of my family on both sides, loved the old music hall songs and we used to sing them at family gatherings--your Leeds memories were probably from re-enacted music hall number
*numberS
oh thanks Haz, meant cr8
Yes, there were all sorts of old songs ' Daisy, Daisy', 'If you were the only girl in the world'. etc. They don't write them like that any more!
Oops! I've somehow got myuself on Jillibuses account! Sorry about that--judst deleted it--thye last two entires were from me, not my pal.
The compere was deliberately verbose and would never describe something simply when a longer word was available. Conjurors were introduced as 'Masters of Prestidigitation'
As for "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do--", that was my own "party piece" at family singalong parties
So you're well versed in the delights of tandems!
I lATER LEARNED A PARODY
remember show me the eay to go home? That used to make me cry as a kid because I thought it was about someone lost - not drunk!!
Are there any fi's?
hello, could I get a clue for the first re6? and the last one?
fi 6.0;4.7;5.16;4.8;4.7
"Michael, Michael. here is your answer dear/ Ican't cycle, so let that point be clear/ If you can't afford a carriage/Call off the blinking marriage/ For I'll be blowed if Ill be towed on a bicycle made for two"
fi 6.30
thatnks
oops
thanks
lol hetty, where've you been all my life?
Daisy obviously wasn't going to be kept in a manner she didn't want to get accustomed to.
fi + a bit of land!
Deeah, I had a red-nosed uncle who sang the "Show me the way to go home " song with great feeling. I remember wondering how a little drink could go to his head. . ."
Or, another word for what Michael can't afford! Thanks lots!
Any clues for fi6/30?
Yup. A French one. I know a song about that, too
sorry, thanks!
"Un fi**** allait trottinant/ oh,oh,oh oopla!"
Anyway, I just looked in momentarily to say hello, I'd better be about my business (now I have 'Burlington Bertie (from Bow)' going through my head. The things you remember.... Bye for now!
I remember that one, it seemed so cosmopilitan when I was little, do you also remember Georges - cant spell it - Giertray?? Oh Bella Marguerita???
so beautiful to see! Les main de ma petite/Margaruita dance the *** with me
YOU ALL HAVE ME SINGING AWAY.
afternoon babblers!
Actually, Burlington Bertie was a song my gran used to sing at every party, kicking off her boots and dancing on the bletop
Saucy old thing!!!
*tabletop
Yes, she really kicked up her heels. I've done it mysel many times at parties, but never with her verve
i remember a little song my grandmother used to sing... she would take the palm of your hand + "walk" her 2 fingers on your hand singing: "walking round the garden like a teddy bear one step, two steps tickle you under there!" (tickling your underarm)
hello everyone.....my great grandad used to sing about 'two little girls in blue , dear'....I havn't heard it anywhere else.
Did that with all my kids and grandkids, only I used to sing "Round and round the garden. . . Tickly under there!" must be regional variations as in many nursery rhymes
hi rabble
we still do 'round and round the garden, etc'
i have 3 ts's are there any more
I remember that I will have to practise it for my first grandchild due in 4 weeks! mY dad used to bounce us up and down on his leg and sing 'here comes the galloping major, bringsd back lovely memories, I am feeling quite tearful!!!silly old fool!!!!!!!!!!
"They were sisters, we were brothers and learned to love those two. . . One litle girl in blue, lad, won your father's heart/ Became your mother--I married the other but now we have drifted apart"
oh yes Deeha.... I remember that too !!!
hetty -- that may have been what she said...i was VERY young, she was VERY old, and it was a VERY long time ago...heh
Karys I remember every word of it--another one y dad used to sing
OOOHHH.... hetty, that's it, the very one....thank you !!!
3 more t's pabtrek
is there a clue for t.I have two
as was "three green bonnets. . ." Remember that one Deeha?
ts words Sudoko?
3 ts words
whats really sweet is that i heard my brother sing the same song to my nephew not that long ago...
No, dont know that one. Tell me?
all about Dulcie and Daisy and Dorothy May
so there are 6 t words then
yes
thanks got them all
yw
hello everyone :)
hi cyberman
hello
the 3 green bonnets hang on three hooks at the foot of the stairs--for three little girls now saying their prayers--one pair of blue yes and one pair of grey, and one pair of brown eyes--that's Dorothy May
ti 4 -- high or low movement of the sea ti4 --- bound; or an even score in a game
hello cybernan
How odd I am Dorothy and my sister is(Irene)May!!
Ithe last verse the bonnets are still hanging there, but as they kneel to pray "the blue eyes are swollen/ andso are the grey/ forn the angels have stollen dear Dorothy May"
my Grandma was May, and now my daughter is Susannah Mai
all together now AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!
oh dear, that's sad !
ie. as the girls (not the bonnets!) kneel--I used to cry every time my Auntie Rose (it was HER party piece) sang it
I can't find that last vi !
In Victorian times infant mortality was rife, and sentimentality was the hallmark of the songs of the people
Kary, the last vi is what a carpenter or a shoemaker holds thing in to work on them
got that one thank you hetty, and the one that sounds the same, and a vi5/16, don't know what's missing
oh yes I do !!!
my grandmother lived with us + helped raise us, but her name was Bessie + ill be damned if im cursing any daughter of mine with that name...heh

lol EvaN !!
lotsa, there are 2 QU8/55
oh yeah pl

dr 5 - alt spelling for the washer's companion

wtg pab, take care :o)
to "get the wet out"
can someone still clue the vi6s please!
I wish ata not got to those yet
Haven't got it Ata
The first vi6/30 makes an adjective out of a pass into a country
we have a weather alert out, very rare in holland :)
*sigh*
The second vi6/30 replaces one of the vowels in the first with a consonant.
Sprite are you saying weasther is rare in holland ???? lol
nope, but alerts are.
Rather oblique, Haz
ty Haz
thanks Haz, works for me :)
must admit i liked holland when i was near roermond for three years back in the late 60's
An adjective, huh????
ty Haz
Okay, add the first two letters of Mr Heath's FULL name - or Queen's youngest son.
tx nan, I tried that earlire and it would not take it. Now it did
Sorry, didnt sent the last one. Now I have finished with fireworks. Thanks for all the help along the way
yay inge
Thanks Haz, I guess I'm not yet to grips with the wonderful world of babbling words!
Oh, I've been doing this for a while now and still reel with shock sometimes at what can appear.
babble is a mind broadener :)
And a beam end widener.
very good , Haz
Who needs to look in rear-view mirrors in shops, anyway? Such a shock...
hi all! YAY inge!

You're welcome.

lol
yep, that's called a phantom, dindrane, happens all the time.
Drin, it is a word. You just cannot make it in this grid :)
well, I don't like them. :p
I hafta break out my dictionary!

LOL - I've always been a wee bit scot!
that e is formal contents of a culture, encompassing its system of ideas, criteria for interpreting experience, etc. Makes me think of downy ducks, though.
4th row second col E is making my head ache

now, you understand, our company is called Marine Construction Management and when you walk in there are about a million pictures of boats on the walls
and they just look like, "huh?"
stupid boys.
sound like geniuses to me...come on!
that is funny, hurshy...
what were they *actually* looking for?
"any job"
hello folks!
but not one that involved being at sea for months, apparently.
{{{{kristin}}}} hi there!
LOL
hi kristin!
kristin, how are you doing?
oh man -- kids! and they probably expect to be in management by the end of the summer...
thanks late hurshy... got distracted

I've always wanted to go to China
thanks
anger with two more letters included
me too. even studied Mandarin for a while. But that was 20 years ago. Now I only remember how to say hello and good-bye and stuff.
included where
only nixon could go to china.
in the middle :P
ata, was that the vi?
My mandarin skills consist of preschool terms (do you have to go the bathroom? come here, eat your lunch etc.)
no, bichon, the ir5
If that is all you need to say you speak a language, then I probably speak 5 or 6 :)
anyone with the vi 5/16 [2nd one]?
my mandarin skills consist of oranges :-)
you said ... i've been trying to make a 6!!!
mine consist of whatever words were used in Firefly LOL
well, that too braves :)
I remember when nixon was in china... my mum's boss was on some medical program that was in correlation to nixon being there ( I was about 5 or 6 at the time ) and so he was there and we woul dhave to at that time go to the airport to receive mail from her boss from RCMP officers there...
anger and 2 more letters! 5! :P
I love Firefly -- Tom got me the set for my birthday!
fine fine
I just love it. I got the set a few weeks ago and keep watching it and watching it
we have firefly too...
never see Firefly ata but reminds me to add it to my list of DVDs to check out from the library...my very long list!
the whole set... my husband watches it
Firefly is the BEST. I love River and Jayne, especially.
if you like clever sci-fi / adventure, Firelfy is *fab*, kristin
q's, i need one more, more nauseated, 2 odder, 3 asking... help?
looooove Jayne
the TV show was much more satisfying than the movie "Serenity" -- I would watch the TV show and then the movie to get things straight...
I reject the movie ever happened. :p Wash and Book are still flying!
Serenity is weird. Cos it just *almost* fits with the TV. and poor darling Wash!
another to do with asking
I rather liked Wash... he was cool AND nice.
I still need the de 6/24 and 7/36 between death and lessen as well as vi 5/16
I loved "Jaynestown"
don't give things away Atalante!
oh, me too Atalante!
didn't quite manage to say what happened to him! lol
:-) Will have to pull out the first disc tonight while Tom and a kid are in Seattle for Westside Story
i vant to vire your vall?

I HATE the DE words... DE 7/36 after the the ten-year word please?
go bichon go!
die
did anyone see my q clue request?
thanks Hurshy! you're a pal!
question - does anyone here actively *like* Zoe? Rather than her just being there as part of the crew? I only watched F/fly for the first time about a month ago (quick addiction) and I'm still not sure about Zoe, out of all the crew
yes hurshy another one to do with asking
yep, but I mssing 2 of the oens you already have and the ones you need hursh

I like Zoe, but maybe because while teaching, I sometimes feel like her--herding cats.
bye sprite
loooooooool have fun stidmama!

I got the vi 5/16 if anyone wants it
ah yes, the infamous herding cats. I can see that with Zoe! poor girl
I could use the vi 5/16
there are at least 3 vi5/16
yes pelase bichon...I have all of 4 vs
I don't have any of them. :)

for all cat lovers: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/23 533818/
argh, i better get back to work, ttfn
normally, I am a cat lover but after trying to brush one of mine last night..I'm rethinking that :)
later hursh, have fun
1 of my cats will be 11 next week, and another will be 11 the following week.
*yawn* i think i have food coma!
food comas...especially when it is warm are the worst! can't stay awake sometimes
had a turkey burger for lunch, so im sure the triptophan (sp?) is kicking in!
I knew there was a reason for eating TOO much-food coma. I love this site-I have learned SO much! lol
it is not pets cherry, it's foods...2 major topics of conversation around here
Works for me!
dont forget kids + trolls
very true...lots of trolls recently
Hello, all. I think the troll ate my kids and my cat and fell asleep. Nice weather here, though.
perfect, vicuna. ;)
hi vicuna :)
ROTFLMAO Vicuna
And people say not to feed the trolls. If you feed them enough to induce coma, it could just work!
People have to be willing to sacrifice their kitties and dachshunds, of course, but I think that's a small price to pay for a little peace and quiet.
yes, its gotta be all or nothing!
shame there arent any canniaballistic trolls out there...
Oh, I think they'd be happy to eat each other. Unfortunately when they do it makes a truly disgusting mess all over the chat log.
lol
but they WOULD eventually run out of a food source, thus rendering themselves unable to continue as a species...
dr5,12 and 6,21 after the person without the moisture
True... But don't they spontaneously generate from the muck and ooze of unsupervized computers?
alas, this IS true
BUT
Yes????
I don't have a list yet bra girl but I have 3 related to the dr condition you just mentioned...2 5s and a 6/21
isnt is the adults who mutated from troll form who leave their troll offspring unsupervised AT said computers? ergo, if we eliminate the trolls from mutating into said adults, there would be no more unsupoervised trolls at computers....
i have them but i need the one before the car
make that 4 bragirl
You may be onto something, EvaN. We need one of those products that works on adults, larvae, and eggs.
ah, I don't have anything after those then on my word list but I'm just getting started, no car either...sorry
Super-Duper, Highly-Advanced, Extra-Strength Troll-B-Gone
but I did just get the car related ones, so thanks
Exactly. So the question is, does feeding the trolls a surfeit of pets function in this way?
you guys should go into business together
(Don't have those, by the way, BRAGIRL, but I'm looking while I blather.)
(But I'm kind of dubious. How many dr5/12 - 6/21's in a row should there be?)
hi again. just a few minutes to play I think --
i say we get them into the food coma state -- this would enable the administration of the Troll-B-Gone
have we got a troll problem again?
I have 2 sets vicuna for a total of 4, all about the same topic...might be missing some though
Hello, stidmama. You're back in the grid yet again today.
no we're discussing ways to remedy it shall it occur again
No, none at the moment, carlee. Just amusing ourselves.
yes, stid has been in the grid a lot recentl
Me too, kristinc, but BRAGIRL says she's looking for another.
so far the most effective way I have seen thus far was to turn the chat into a playground...they run in horror
LOL yes, I seem to be popular with enable these days
actually some very good ideas from resident troll experts vicuna and evanadine
pretty funny actually when it happened
okay, well I'm not sure then...hollar if you find one vic
second re6,21
I just ignore them. If they don't go away, I let Dr. G know and he scatters their ashes to the winds...
I was just trying to combine Babble's four most popular topica of chat: kids, pets, food, and trolls.
no, these ideas are troll prevention!
EvaN is ambitious enough to envision the extinction of all troll-kind.
oh shoot that reminds me..i need to find a recipe that is "native american" ( ojibwa actually ) that uses wild rice
I don't know if we can prevent trolls -- but we can sure step on them when they appear!
stid -- we still report them, but weve found that if we "join in" on their elementary school gossip, they realize that theyre not quite the nuisance they wish to be, so they just leave...
I don't like the DE words today. help on the de 6 after the 7/36 that is to die?
Hiya Stid! How goes?
to lie and cheat is de****
My next is de6/24 - lay down a law
hi riemann not too bad, you?
Ooo, carlee's comes first!
thanks Vicuna.... *thinking*
my next is carlees as well
Just great! Volunteered for a math demo at a brand new science center in town.
and carlee... hm.
back to the bane of my existance..re's....grrrrrrrrrrrrr... diving in again
way cool, riemann! how did it go?
Hey, all you troll bashers! TGIF!
hi reimann, hi judi
*steals judis mel gibson doll and holds it up really, really high so she cant reach it*
They loved the ad. Now I just have to do the workshop. First date is June 29.
oh -- so you are still to do it! sounds like a good idea (math is too often left out of the cool things)... your anticipated age range?
Hey, Stid... what are you doing with a Chinese flag? Did you suddenly go commie on us? *proudly displays unopened boxed set of all the Ocean's 13 action figures*
Mel Gibson is so two days ago.
*steals george clooney, brad pitt, and matt damon and runs off*
Oh, kids in evidence. I must go be parental. Bye, all!
okay, got the lay down the law 6/24.... need to find the lie and cheat one
I'm doing a hands-on geometry workshop. ages 12+. Topics: areas of squares, rectangles, right triangles. Wrap up with the Pythagorean theorem.
bye vicuna
excellent! I'll send stidkid over!
later Vicuna!
stid, sounds similar to the paper you get when you pay for your groceries
Thought of the young stidkid when designing the workshop. I'm avoiding algebra, so elder stidkid would not be harmed either.
oh! I must have been mis-typing! thanks Kristin!
yes, I am sure Tom would find it useful! *wicked grin*
yep :)
Even Stidmama might understand. *duck*
I am now finito avec die DE palabras... *mangling words in five languages now*
oh riemann, you know I am so far past that... unless you present it in colors and textures you'll have me lost in no time!
No budget for textures, but the workshop uses construction paper.
Done with D words!!!! a mere 49 remaining
*thinking* I might be able to handle construction paper...
go stid go!
and Eliminated the E words...
Evaaaaa.... we can both play with my Ocean's 13 action figures. I'm not having much fun with my Eliot Gould doll here.
And my Carl Reiner looks like a melted wax figure.
Flounced the F words
hey, youve got don cheadle too!
ground up the G words... LOL
Yes, but I think he has a thing for Casey Afleck.
"i"liminiated the I words

Literally and figuratively, stid. Eeesh. I say no to "crack".

re6 after limb straightener is to ebb

yw :-)
Well, I was referring to his butt crack. However, he is all drugged up. He is bi-polar and not supposed to have drugs or alcohol. Obviously, he doesn't do what he's supposed to do.
I don't know what that 5/6/7 combo means, but I am past the R words and down to 19
can you clue the 5,6,7 combo (or the 5) I am still stuck on it

It's like an egg with no salt, Es without etna. LOL

are the qu words normal? i have 3 normal ones...
they are pretty normal, four of them based on same first four letters,
ok, ty inge
I only have 4 of the QU words, but they're pretty normal so far.
Dindrane, then you have at least one of the set of four meaning questions, questioner, more questioning and plural of more qustioning
thanks, inge, that gives me all but 1 of the QUs! Now I just need to figure out what/which I'm missing. :p
the first one? cause it has diff. vowels?
no, i have that one, I think... 7/40? meaning things you send in if you're a writer?
thanks mo for the di'7's
I cannot get their meaning from the dictionary, will not respond to clicking on questionmark

We used to have our antique and book shop in historica downtown madison. we moved it to downtown owens cross roads a few years ago.
when I saw your name, I asked Doc, "I wonder if she's the Bookwoman from the store in Nashville?" but of course your name is plural anyway.
I'll have to come visit your store! A good antique and book shop is hard to find.
bookwomen, could I have your URL again? I forgot to save it.
It is only plural because bookwoman was taken. We have 28,000 used books. our website is www.gibsonbooks.com

Bye, Jacual--have a great vacation/holiday.
what happened scrabbler
anything for the second we 7/44
We were at Allegany State Park--southern NY state, near PA border, in Red House Lake. There are 3 small islands, where we paddle around and then settle for lunch, then skinnydipping.
got it
Sounds fun, scrab
oh this will be a good story
Well, as we were paddling around the island, a beaver dives from the shore into the water!
COOL
(Pam--it makes me nuts when people say, "I have never had a headache in my life,.)

He was really tooling around using his tail as a paddle, then he would smack his tail and dive under. We would find him resurfacing nearby. There is a large dam on one side of the island.

They are large animals. Later, when we were swimming, we saw him come by again, and I rushed to the shore as I imagined getting bit by a beaver and requiring rabies shots.

lol for sure
i'd pay for pics of scrabs running away from the beaver! lol
My friend stayed in the water and laughed at me. Later, when we got back in our kayaks, he jumped off the shore again and we followed him--he was at my friend's bow. It was the best field trip ever.

I don't read back when I come on, smd...
did vi create the cat grid?
yes
sounds like she's gotten into creating torture for you! lol
what's a cat grid?
a grid shaped like a cat
I don't usually read back Pam....but a lot of the time I am on and Just "listening" rather than chatting.
gotcha, smd!
If Hurshy is on, I know I am going to have a good laugh before it is over. She cracks me up!!
LOL
only because i am so nonsensical
fireworks. ty for the clues.
No hurshy, because your brain is in overdrive!!
i'm really very dull in real life.
I seriously doubt that!!
whoooo hoooo boook!
honest to cuteness, i am
congrats book!!
i bet you're really a quiet person, but once you warm up...watch out
yes, muchos congratulones, book
i guess maybe dawg, but not in a gun way
i don't approve of murder
aries isn't in this?
no, because it is proper.
oh
One night when I was playing sudoku.....Hurshy had a conversation with herself on mosquitoes. I was still laughing when I tried to go to sleep that night!!
LOLOLOLOLOL
Yeee Haaa, Book
i don't remember that one. mosquitoes? what on earth would i have to say about mosquitoes?
oh i remember
that wasn't very long ago
it was about how i wouldn't mind if they sucked my blood if it didn't have to itch
Why do mosquito bites have to itch so badly. I don't mind them having a little of my blood but why does it have to itch so much......remmber that Hurshy??
I saw that in suduko too
:)
I'm new to suduko too
really the species would do better if they didn't make people itch. but they do so well as it is... really, that is evidence of God and not pure natural selection right there.
Now I will be laughing again when I go to bed tonight
Been a couple of weeks but some of the puzzles take me 8 minutes and some take me hours
mosquito population control.
what about bees
what about bees?
poor things if you step on them they sting you then they die
barefooted I mean
bees are the greek tragedians of the insect world
8mins??
they deserve to die if they sting me!
i take that back, there are tons of greek tragedians in the insect world.
how many words is a reasonalbe number to get?
I am with you dawger on that one!!
today, 195 is a reasonable number to get
8 minutes in a sudoku puzzle
i said reasonable
how many words please?
well
my point is
reasonable is debatable
bens you put a word the sa4/5
that reasonable is very POV dependent
I am lucky when I get half, LOL... I just don't have the sticktoitiveness.... 195 total
yes, what dawg said.
lol pam
on a 400+ grid half is reasonable, but then so is walking away.
I'm proud of my 35 words tonight :)
you see it was an irony thing. giving you an answer to demonstrate that there could be no answer
gotcha
LOL, lbd
I love this game....but I love the chatters more!!
35 is a good start lttmt
the answer lies within your heart (is celine dion listening, she could use this for lyrics)
chatting is certainly the fun part of working the grid
it wasn't a philosophical question - just a simple one requiring an indicative answer ... but thanks.
well if you want it to be indicative it can be that too
FIREWORKS!!
Bens, some people are not "happy" unless they finish... some set a half or 2/3 goal, some have no goal... babble is what you make of it, philosophical or not...
cool - 'cause i think i'm about to hit the wall and apparentl there are 99 words left!!
pam, i think you are overstating the case... finishing doesn't make me happy - happy is a state i cannot hope to attain - it merely sates the addiction til tomorrow.
whoooo hoooo smd!
i see, hursh...
LOL Bens
Yay, smd
well done, bens!
thx pam and dawger!!
bens, if you hit the wall, the i'd say you've done your best.
explain the dictionary to me
is it getting tired in here or is it just me?
whoaaaaaaaa, tall order
it must be contagious Hursh. *tries to smother jaw popping yawn*
Nite all....I am going to Sudoku!!
night smd
night, smd
fids is in this puzzle
oh oops
the dictionary is a collection of words put in alphabetical order, accompanied by part of speech, pronunciation guide, definition, and often an example sentence and/or etymological background
just it's a telecom term used at work
tireder and tireder... but numb3rs is new to me--haven't seen this one...
yeah, it's new to me too Pam, and it's popcorn night, so i best be getting the popcorn ready. see you all tomorrow.
the first dictionary was compiled by ... if my tired brain isn't mixing things up - samuel johnson. some of his example sentences were quite humourous.
lol hurshy
Night, LBD
night lbd
you need to read the winchester book on the OED, hursh...
oh dear no
what's OED
the last thing i need is more useless knowledge
Oxford English Dictionary
The professor and the madman--it was divine
ohhhh
the largest, most complete dictionary of the english language
now I'm feeling really dumb
it comes in multiple volumes
why should you feel dumb?
start talking about telecom things, and you will say plenty of stuff i don't know
the secret to appearing smart is to direct the conversation to topics you know something about.
hehe
lolol
anyway, i'm just blathering on half asleep here, g'night all
night!!!!!!
night hurshy
take care
vies
oops
thanks

I still haven't figured out the eagle's nest clue
hi, everyone
yet another grid with no L in it
... I tried
Hi Jellen
although my hubby and I went on a redesign of my home office that took me out for about 15 minutes
mornin jellen
ttmt, google eagle's nest
eagle's nest is not a word in today's grid, unless there is more than one word for an eag;e's nest . . .
Yes, ae words... a+dirtiest of the Great Lakes
eyre, eyrie, aery, eyry = eagle's nest. there is indeed and alt spelling in the grid
and=an
my new word for the day is the fi6, "a small horse-drawn carriage"
My late father and a birdwatching neighbor used to "compete" for who'd seen the most exotic birds and he once told her he'd seen an eagle...
the nest word is what birds of prey may nest in
Book, that's also the patron saint of gardening and barren women, and taxi drivers!!
is the eagle really "exotic" or do you mean endangered?
weegee, what are you implying? LOL
you can see there is a publishing co called eyry if you type it in publisher field at tomfolio.com (here http://www.tomfolio.com/search.asp )
book, only that I'm an obvious nerdy geeky type
oh, well that's okay then. LOL
without children...
not being able to keep the eyelids open, i must say g'nite y'all
or taxis
see ya later, weegee, everyone, **fooOOOF!**

Good.
glad to hear it mr p
hi, jane
I am so glad you are all okay -- and it's fixable. When we had those windstorms in December there were too many houses with trees through them.

Stid, I've forgotten where you are--physically I mean.
hey pablo you there?
i'll take you up on that stid, do you have ca6/24?
the firs 150 were easy, the last 45 are driving me batty
ca 6/24 plural of a "cohort"
it looks like spanish for "mothers"
