funny story about black swans. they had them roaming a golf course here, but had to move them because they were trying to protect the golf balls from being hit! Apparently they were big and meant business, scaring quite a few golfers.

I made nylon tents and sleeping bags on my singer featherwiehgt
I wish it was still cost effective to make clothes... I have the skill, but it's often way cheaper to buy things even before taking time into account

So I only ever make costumey stuff or really fancy things.
Now I have a Bernina fancypants but only use it for mending or shortening!
when i was in junior high i sewed all my own dresses for banquets and parties, even sewed a pair of 5-pocket jeans.
I do very little also. The eyes and back aint what they used to be. Now I have the Rolls Royce of sewing machines -- a Bernina.
I've got a Janome myself.
I have an ancient Bernina. Still perfectly good

jilli, when i eventually got my current machine(singer) i turned out all sorts of things, including a fully lined pure wool coat with velvet collar and cuffs, for my then 3 year old, or was it 4?.
Was using my mom's old one - Singer I think, or maybe Kenmore - but it wasn't that good a machine to start with, so it starting dying when I made outdoor cushions for my mom - that coating is tough to sew through
When at McGill used to make dresses by hand out of tubular fabrid and rich friends used to ask where I got them and wanted copies!!!

and im a smoker and i dont mind actually except when its persisting down and i have to go hang out underneath a verandah with the wind and rain horizontal lol

also, no smoking within 20 feet of a public entrance, so semi-open malls and shopping centers are smoke-free now too.
we have no smoking in canada here, is great, wish government would sell cigarettes without the toxins, why do we pay our govenment to kill us

the north island here rose is going through some heavy duty winds while the south island is at the moment mostly covered in around 10 - 20 cm of snow in a lot of places
they are wonderful for the kids (and big kids) for that reason, but i remember them tasting so yummy now i have started thanking about golden syrup steam pudding

I didnt go to the 21st i wasnt invited as i wasnt his friend, i am waiting on the report of the eve from a mate that did go. You know what i think though, the boy who would have been 21 would have loved to have his mates there for a jolly time. He was leaving a mates party and going to a mates house when he was killed. The tree which cost him his life will soon get torn down (evil grin)

(The pup usually grabs the end of the roll and runs off with it!)
